For three years tens of thousands of webmasters have been making incomes ranging from a few dollars a month to five figure sums per month -- with Google's contextual advertising program --Adsense.

Indeed many Internet Gurus have made substantial profits by telling people how to monetise their website traffic by putting Adsense on it.

Adsense revenues are shared between Google and the Adsense Publisher ... the website owner -- up to now a nice cosy and profitable arrangement.

Google has always been cautious about revealing the ratio of payout to the publishers for Adsense clicks compared to the amount that the advertiser pays for the Adwords ... but the feeling among Adsense Publishers is that the percentage has been dropping steadily over the past three years -- if you are a number cruncher, you may try to interpret the financial data from Google itself here: http://investor.google.com/fin_data.html

In the past there was one price for Adword keywords, whether they appeared in Google Search results or as Adsense Ads on individual Adsense Publishers websites -- that was fine as an Adsense Publisher might get, say $4 from a click for a $6 Adword -- remember nobody knows exactly because Google will not tell!

Individual websites that publish Adsense are known as Google's content network.

On 22 November 2005 Google made a change to their Adwords advertising program - they allowed advertisers to bid different amounts for the Ads that would appear in Google Search results and for the Ads that would appear on individual Adsense Publishers websites.

So an advertiser might bid $5 for a click from Google and 5 cent for a click from an Adsense Publisher in the content network ... Ouch if you happen to be that Adsense Publisher!

Is it the end of the road for Adsense Publishers?

Is there life after Adsense?

What can Adsense Publishers do to make up for the drop in revenues?

Is it possible to make much more from your website than you were making with Adsense -- maybe this was a blessing in disguise! <bio>Brian Casey is a freelance writer who contributes to various websites and publications. http://homepage.eircom.net/~amaverick/index.htm </bio>

Many are searching for more publishers for their article marketing activities. Submitting to the same old directories used by everyone else just isn't working very well anymore. I use three major methods to find publishers for article submission:

1. Buy Lists Of Publishers

Usually you would never want to buy an email list of anything. That will only lead to SPAM complaints. There may also be dangers in this area, but I haven't run into them yet. Every list I have ever bought really did contain only publishers who really wanted to receive article submissions from me.

How do you find these lists of publishers? The best place is to do a search on Google. Search for "newsletter publishers", "list of ezines" and anything else you can think of. There are even some free lists you will find.

2. Search Directly For Publishers

The next step is to search directly for publishers. For this, I like to use the topic of my market. So if I was looking for publishers for "marketing" articles, I would search for "marketing ezines", "marketing newsletters", "marketing articles" and "marketing publishers". Use your imagination... "marketing content", "marketing reprint", etc.

When you find a repository of articles on your subject, get familiar with the names of the other authors who submit to those publishers. Find unique names. "John Smith" isn't going to cut it for this exercise, but if you see "John Enkelheimersmith" then you have the perfect name for the next step.

Do a search for that author. They are submitting in your market and can lead you to all of the places they have found that publish their articles online.

This is really powerful. You can find the most obscure publishers who never mention the words "newsletter", "ezine", "reprint" or anything else that would give them away as a publisher. However, they did, in fact, publish articles by that author. Since they aren't easy to find, they probably aren't receiving a lot of submissions. Those are golden! They are much more likely to accept your article submission.

That is also a good lesson in general. The harder it is to find a particular publisher, the better. Those are the really valuable finds. Think about the opposite. If you just go to those top 10 article directories that everyone else uses, your article acceptance is practically useless. It is only read by other authors and used by "made for Adsense" site scrapers.

Instead, finding that small publisher of articles in your subject area that has a close following and a modest Alexa ranking of 80,000 or so. That site may publish articles of only about 12 quality authors on the subject of your market. That is your golden find. You may see 20-50 daily visitors from a single article published on such a site. And that traffic lasts practically forever.

Remember that 50 daily visitors is a sale per day if you have a 2% conversion ratio. If you make $50/sale, you have just published a single article that results in $50/day of income for you. That's way better than anything you could ever expect from one of those big article directories that everyone is using.

3. Have A Signup Form

Lot's of people want articles submitted to them. If you create a signup form on your content sites that says "Do You Have An Ezine? Want Free Quality Articles? Sign Up Here.", you will slowly get opt-ins. You can also provide a service that draws in even more opt-ins. Perhaps you can offer to list them in your ezine directory? Or your resource directory of content sites?

Finally you can convert existing webmasters into content publishers. It is a fact that any webmaster wants more traffic to their site. It is a fact that content draws in traffic. If you have a list of webmasters from any other effort (for instance if you accept articles yourself, or run a link directory, or sell traffic, or work in this market selling products to webmasters), you have a golden list. Convert them. Educate them on the importance of having more content and how easy it is to get free content from you. <bio>Check out the Artemis Pro article submission software that allows you to add your own publishers to it's submission list: http://www.ArtemisPro.com Check out the http://DirOfEzines.com to get your list started: http://www.DirOfEzines.com </bio>

The more publishers you can send your articles to the better your chance of success. As the technique of writing articles is catching on and the competition is getting hotter, you cannot rely on just using one publisher. However, there are tens of thousands of publishers out there, so where do you start? Looking up, registering with, logging into and submitting articles to a high number of publishers can be a long and tedious job. If you are still working a full time job and have a family you may not be able to submit enough articles to enough publishers to make it worth your while.

At first I experimented with software that can be downloaded onto your PC. This held a database of over 800 publishers. I had register with one site at a time, whilst the software stored my usernames and passwords. Registering with over 800 sites took me days of cramming it in every spare minute. I then put my personal details and first article into the software system expecting it to send my article out to all of those sites for me. However, I still needed to submit to one site at a time. As many sites generate unique passwords, it was much quicker and more efficient using the software to remember them than trying to do it myself. Having logged onto the sites the software would automatically fill in all my stored details and the article, saving me more time.

But still, doing this with over 800 sites, then submitting one article a week can still take up a lot of time. Furthermore it can cost you the best part of $100/month. Bare in mind that when somebody recommends this type of software, some of them are part of affiliate programs and the recommender may be getting paid. Although I joined such an affiliate program I do not feel comfortable recommending it as the time it takes can be prohibitive if you have work and family commitments.

What I would recommend though is that you look for a website that is can submit your articles to publishers without you having to download software onto your computer. There will still be a charge, but it can be much cheaper than downloading software. Basically you submit your article, pay a small fee and they send it the publishers for you.

I have started to use http://Isnare.com (not an affiliate program and I don't get paid for this recommendation). For a very small fee, they can send your article to over 40,000 publishers. Very wide distribution, very low cost and very little time spent on the distribution process. Also, you don't get inundated with emails from all the publishers that you have registered with.

I would rather spend spare time creatively writing more articles then cramming all I can into distributing them. Especially as it will take a number of articles to build up a rapport with your reader. <bio>Complete system with tools and guide to promote your MLM/Affiliate business on-line: http://www.success-simplified.blogspot.ws Further advice and help to build your MLM business http://www.success-simplified.blogspot.com </bio>

Article marketing is a relatively new addition to the search engine optimization world but the number of people that are taking part is growing every day. Of course, the number triples all the time because there are authors, article directory owners, as well as web publishers all involved in this search engine optimization technique. As time goes on and page ranks rise, article marketing will only become more popular. Everyone involved in this type of marketing sees the ability to profit and thrive just doing what he or she do best, so why wouldn't it become more popular?

The Bottom Line More and more people are getting into article marketing for one very simple reason: it works. Web publishes are finally learning that achieving a good page rank is not just based on the number and quality of links instead it is based on quality links and quality content. Authors are finding that they can make a lot of money providing content to the web publishers that are constantly hungry for more content. Additionally, the article directory owners find that they are often a necessary middleman between publisher and author.

Article Directory Article directories work a lot like phone books, they provide all of the facts in a very up front way. Web publishers can come and browse through the articles and decide which ones they would like to have posted on their website. This works for the article directory because formatted into the article code are links to the article directory. Every time the article is posted on another website it creates another link for the article directory, securing their page rank and even boosting it a bit. The article directory owner can earn a bit of money by charging a small fee for each article or can just enjoy a great page rank!

The Publishers More and more web publishers are getting into article marketing because they need to increase their page rank and overall visibility. Article marketing is attractive to web publishers because it allows them to put high quality content on their website which is a requirement for a good page rank. Not only does the content provide the website with more credibility, but the links to the article directory do as well since they usually have good page ranks.

The Authors Authors are attracted to article marketing because it can get them a lot of exposure. Many writers find that they can write on many different subjects and submit all of them to an article directory. Because they write on a variety of subjects they get exposure in a variety of markets. Authors often benefit because the web publishers are given their personal information and website through the resource box. Many web publishers actually contact the author directly to contract them for further work, eliminating the need for the article directory for both the publisher and the author. With so many web publishers seeking high quality content, authors can stay in business as long as they can continue to provide high quality content.

As you can see, there are a lot of reasons for a lot of people to become involved with article marketing. The process simply works for a good deal of people and what they are trying to achieve professionally. As long as high quality content is needed to secure a good page rank, you will find that it will continue to grow in popularity. <bio>Jonathan White has been involved in article and other online marketing for over 4 years.
How to get a book deal without being scammed is a hurdle for any writers. Publishers Are Not Exempt From Questionable Practices.

Keep These Warning Signs in Mind

Charges a fee to read your manuscript. You are providing the product for them to sell. Why should you have to pay to see if they are interested in your work?

Offers subsidy contracts (you pay them to have your book published) when they promote themselves as commercial publishers. Are POD (publish-on-demand) publishers, such as authorshouse, IUniverse, and Xlibris, legitimate publishers? Yes as long as the author realizes the costs and the limitations of POD publishing. Publish On Demand books are rarely stocked in bookstores.

Bait and Switch There are some publishers who hide behind the mask of respectability and call themselves `traditional' when in fact they are a vanity press. How can you tell? Look at their websites, if the focus is on recruiting writers rather than promoting the books they publish, it's a huge red flag.

Other publishers `will accept' your manuscript and then come back a few weeks later and say that their list for the next season is full but they would dearly love to publish your book. You just need to share the risk with them by giving them some money.

A new twist is to tell the author that their project has merit but the author will have to find an investor to sponsor their title. The publisher isn't asking the author directly for any funds but many authors shell out the necessary dollars rather than try and find an `investor.'

Rebates The publisher says that any fees you pay them will be completely refunded once your book reaches a certain sales level, usually in the thousands. Or that they will provide a comparable number of `free' copies when the magic sales level has been reached.

A twist on rebates is that the publisher will match your monetary contribution in marketing efforts for your title. Publishers are supposed to market their own titles. The match most likely will not be in advertising dollars, review copies sent, or book tour expenses but the efforts of the in house staff. Efforts that probably won't be focused specifically on your title.

How to get a book deal without getting scammed is possible for any author. Just keep these warning signs in mind. <bio>Want to find out how you can avoid scams and still get your book published?
Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money, but it also relies on a certain amount of trust between affiliate and publisher. Because of this it is important to know what to look out for when it comes to affiliate marketing scams, whether you're a publisher or an affiliate.

Publisher Scams

Affiliate marketing relies on the publisher or network accurately tracking which visitors are sent by which affiliates, and then rewarding those who send the traffic that converts to sales. A corrupt publisher could not pay an affiliate all they are owed, or pay a lesser percentage than advertised to try and take more of the profit.

If you're an affiliate and worried about being scammed by a publisher or network, then it's best to stick with one of the more reputable affiliate networks as they are known to be legitimate. Some examples are Clickbank, Commission Junction and PayDotCom. You need to be more careful when signing up to publishers own affiliate programs as these have more potential to be dishonest.

Affiliate Scams

There are also ways an affiliate can attempt to scam a publisher by tricking them into thinking a sale or action has been made and hence gaining commissions.

For example, some publishers pay per click instead of per sale. It is possible for an affiliate to try and set up a script that mimics online behaviour to make the publisher think traffic is being driven to their site when in reality the traffic is worthless. This is one of the main reasons why paying for PPC traffic from an affiliate is a much less popular model than per sale.

In rare cases, an affiliate may try to purchase a product using money that isn't theirs. For example through a hacked Paypal account or stolen credit card.

The best way for publishers to prevent affiliate scams is to check each application individual and only pick the ones that have a well run and reputable website. However this isn't always possible with affiliate networks.

A common method for affiliates to gain sales without actually sending the visitor to the sales page is through a technique known as cookie stuffing. Cookie stuffing is when an affiliate places a tracking cookie on every visitor that enters their site, so that if the visitor then goes and buys a product the affiliate gets the sale even though they didn't send the visitor. Publishers don't want to pay commission on a sale just because the customer visited an affiliate's site beforehand, so this is another example of an affiliate scam.

The majority of affiliates and publishers realise the great benefits for each side when it comes to the affiliate-publisher relationship. If handled correctly, a publisher can make many more sales than otherwise possible with an affiliate program and an affiliate can make a lot of money. Scams will always be found out in the long run and will damage a business when they are. As an affiliate or publisher it's important to keep out eye out for potential scams.<bio>Discover one of the best ways to make money online with the golden thread review system: http://GoldenThreadReviews.com</bio>

Consumers are now able to view a great amount of information in a very short time by subscribing to feeds, while at the same time, eliminating other things they do not necessarily want to see.

It is like having just a particular column delivered instead of the entire newspaper. Publishers, meanwhile, can distribute their content instantly because it is fed automatically to their subscribers. Advertisers also benefit by being able to reach their target market more directly, since they can advertise to particular groups of interest.

What is so good about FeedBurner and how does it work?

Most blog users and podcasters publish feeds automatically as they post their content online since most blogging platforms and publishing tools already have automatic feed options. Others may also use certain tools that convert their web content into a format that is easy for distribution or feed. FeedBurner then helps the publishers to enhance their feeds and make it more easily distributable to their audience.

FeedBurner then publicizes the content, making it easer to be subscribed to by viewers. The service also optimizes the distribution of content, making it easy to share, link, and tag by subscribers. What are the percentage of people earning on Adsense Blogs? And how much do they earn? Get your special $97 report on Adsense Tips and Tricks!

FeedBurner also helps publishers analyze their traffic, informing them not only how many have subscribed to their feeds, but also where the subscribers come from and what subscribers like the most about one's web content. FeedBurner also helps publishers make their content profitable by accessing the lucrative and wide-reaching FeedBurner Ad Network.

FeedBurner adds value to one's blog, podcast or commercial publications by processing it and providing a valuable boost that could make it attractive to the hoards of potential subscribers online.
Marketing is a source for big income in the Internet. Because of the powers that advertising possesses especially with a highly directed method that the Internet can offer, there is a bigger possibility that Internet ads will meet more success. For example, a person who is looking for a new computer and sees an ad for an online store offering a sale on computers will most likely click on the ad. Very few ads in other media can seek to approximate this demand-specific distribution of ads. This is also the reason why there is a growing influx of companies -- both big and small -- that are allotting more budget towards Internet advertising. Consequently, more and more websites or publishers are also wanting to get in on the action because the click-throughs will mean big money for them for a very minimal effort.

There are many programs that have emerged online that seek to help web publishers take advantage of the revenue opportunities in advertising.

Yahoo.com, one of the search engine pioneers and a formidable force in the Internet industry, recently announced a new program that would enable web publishers gain more in terms of the benefits of pay for performance or pay-per-click advertising. The program, called Yahoo! Search Marketing, makes advertising on the Internet easier and more manageable to handle.

Yahoo! Search Marketing is based on the technologies and research used by Overture Services, Inc., otherwise known as http://GoTo.com -- one of the first search engines that was able to include paid ads in its results. In 2003, Yahoo! acquired Overture and turned it into a fully owned subsidiary tasked to become the backbone for the whole search engine advertising or Pay-for-Performance setup. Overture's innovative solutions with regards to advertising in search engines has been a great influence on other search engines since they have also come out with their own programs using the principles set by Overture, among them Google's AdSense.

With the Yahoo! Search Marketing pay-per-performance program, publishers bid on search terms or keywords (this could be words, phrases, or a combination of both). The winning bidder's web page is then placed in the search engine results for those keywords, with the position being related to the amount that was bid for the said keywords. This function is part of Yahoo! Search Marketing's Sponsored Search feature, that makes advertising in Yahoo! so much more powerful and effective. The various features included in Sponsored Search allows you to not only control the position of your website in keyword searches, you can also set your own price per click and pay only when people actually click the link to your website.

This is a far more effective way of getting more visitors to go to your web page. First of all, Overture offers a far wider reach compared to other competitors, especially Google. Overture's reach extends not only to Yahoo but also to AltaVista, CNN and Infospace, among others. The reporting function is also more intuitive now and far more complete in terms of searching for the effectiveness of certain keywords. <bio>For more information please visit http://www.theinternetone.net </bio>

It makes sense to say "there is no free lunch" when we are talking about magazine subscription that costs $15 to $20 a year. However, I am sure you will be shocked when you know how much the so-called "discount magazine" and "cheap magazine" has ripped you off after reading this article and I can guarantee that you will never ever pay a magazine in full price again.

Some may argue that it is not uncommon to see the so-called "cheap magazine subscription" promoting the idea that "the majority of the publishers' revenue came from advertisement and so it is possible to give away magazines for free in order to attract more readers." While it is true in circulation that a large proportion of income do actually came from advertisement, only paid subscribers counts on the "rate card" and not the free subscribers. All magazine publishers set their "ad rate" based on the number of paid subscribers from an audit report every quarter and therefore it is simply not possible for publishers to give away magazines for free to boost the sales and cheat the advertisers. Publishers can be fined heavily if they are found to misreport their readership.

Even though it is impossible to get free magazine directly from publishers, it doesn't necessarily mean free magazine doesn't exist. As a freebie hunter myself, I would like to share with you three common ways of getting magazines for absolutely free throughout the internet.

1)Trade magazine: Different from consumer magazines, trade magazines (e.g. Oracle and CFO) are flexible to adjust their "ad rate" as long as they are able to deliver qualified readers to their advertisers. That's the reason why you will see free magazine provider such as Freebizmag (http://www.freebizmag.com/) often asked you a lot of questions regarding your occupation and job function before they give you the free magazines for free.

2)Consumer magazine: Not many people are interested in the trade magazine because most of the time those magazines are hard to read. A lot more people are looking for popular consumer magazines such as Maxim, FHM or PC magazine for free. Some sites like Magcentral and Freebie-magazine (http://www.freebie-magazine.info/user/index3.php) are sponsored by a third party sponsor to provide the magazine for free. You will usually have to fill out a short form or survey to get your magazine for free.

3)Publishers: Sometimes publishers will give away a free 1 year subscription (usually in digital format) for marketing purpose. This is the best kind of subscription as the subscription itself is provided by the publishers, so the risk of not getting the magazine will be the lowest among the three possible choices. A good example to illustrate this kind of subscription will be Tango. (http://www.tangomag.com/tabid/210/Default.aspx?sssdmh=dm24.96957andSource=I6PG01)

One last thing to mention is that unless a magazine is written clearly on the page for renewal, you can always choose a new offer for renewal. But please keep in mind that it is very important to find a way (e.g. through email or the online form) to let the free magazine provider know whether the subscription is new or renewal, or you will have a high chance of not getting your favorite magazines.

Also, it is possible to receive a renewal notice that looks like a bill or invoice at the end of your subscription. Please read through it very carefully as most of the time it is not a bill. I have received over 30 free magazine subscriptions over the internet and I have never received an invoice or paid for a penny. The trick to get your favorite magazines for free is to sign up for as many newsletters from publishers as possible and to check out free magazine sites closely. I hope you will enjoy your free magazines. <bio>If you are interested in getting more Free magazines, please have a look at this http://www.freebie-magazine.info/user/index3.php </bio>

It is difficult to break into the publishing industry as a new author, and even more difficult to get an acceptance letter from an editor at a large publishing house. As an author you will work hard to finish your book, and work even harder to find the right book publisher. The good news is you can tap into several types of publishers to publish your book. Here is a look at some common types of book publishing.

GROUP PUBLISHING: Group publishing is the process by which a large company publishes your work in the name of a larger company. For example, large publishing companies often operate smaller publishing companies. The larger publishing company serves as an umbrella over the smaller group publishing companies. Sometimes these companies operate several smaller companies and book imprints that produce different genres of writing and books. Sometimes this is referred to trade publishing. For example, a large publishing group may produce best-selling adult novels, but may also operate under a smaller name to produce certain non-fiction books, cookbooks, children's books, or niche titles. Group publishing is a popular way to publish a book.

EDUCATIONAL PUBLISHING: Educational publishing shares some likeness to trade publishing. These companies deal specifically with educational material. They may deal with only college textbooks, or they might deal with textbooks and materials for grades K-12. Besides textbooks, these companies might also produce other forms of educational material, which include posters, workbooks, CD-ROMS, software, testing material and maps. There are several big name educational publishing companies.

UNIVERSITY PUBLISHING: Better known as the "University Press," this type of publishing is different from group publishing and it is not the same as scholarly publishing. These types of companies are usually non-profit. Universities, colleges and sometimes museums or other organizations operate these publishing imprints. These publishers usually publish books by scholars and other specialists. Besides distributing their books to bookstores, they also make their book titles available within the university system. Sometimes larger trade publishers publish these types of books.

INDEPENDENT PUBLISHING: Independent publishers are often the best way to publish your book with established distribution channels. Independent publishers are generally small, privately-owned companies. Many times, these companies only publish a handful of books each year and they specialize in certain subjects. They have the freedom to publish just about anything they wish.

SOFTWARE and other MEDIA: You might consider software and other types of media as a publishing option. Think about the many e-books, CD-ROMs and digital downloads, many published by large and small publishing companies. These types of publishing companies are often associated with larger trade publishers. In fact, many large publishing companies have their own in-house media publisher to spawn the traditional paperback book into other types of media. Digital and alternate media is a huge, profitable business, and these publishers are just as important and lucrative as the large trade publishers.

As you can see, you can tap into various publishers who might consider publishing your book. If you are unlucky with a large trade publisher or group publisher, then don't give up. Keep looking at the different types of publishing companies until you find one that wants to work with you and your book. <bio>Learn how to become a published book author!
The categories associated with ebooks are incredibly large. Trying to pinpoint the exact type of material best suited for ebook development is a bit like trying to nail Jell-O to the wall.

What follows is a brief look at a few of the categories in which ebooks may fit.

Arts Music Biographies General Business Management Marketing Education Essays Games Sports Health and Fitness Inspiration Medical History Military Religion Science Home and Garden Cooking Gardening News Philosophy Politics and Government Economics Government Law Politics Reference Social Issues Child Development Communication Environmental Issues Ethnic Studies Family Social Issues Travel Children

Classics Fiction History Humor Science Fiction Seasonal Drama Fantasy

You will notice I said brief because in each category there are several sub-genres that may also contain ebooks for sale.

The growth of ebooks is actually serving to displace traditional publishers to a certain degree. You will still find significant titles available at brick and mortar bookstores, but the very nature of ebook development has allowed many authors to bypass traditional publishers -- and still find success.

The next time you visit your favorite storefront bookstore be sure to look at the vast aisles filled with books on every conceivable topic. Now condense that to your PC screen and a few clicks. In the end you will likely find lower priced ebook downloads available that can be just as portable as a regular book. Perhaps the best news is the ebook download can be accomplished without leaving the comfort of home.

The realm of ebook publishing is growing and populated with a maverick group of writers who have taken publishing into their own hands. This is not to say that traditional publishers haven't seen the benefit of ebooks. In fact, many mainstream publishers are also offering some of their titles as ebook downloads.

Most writers have a very vivid imagination so the use of that imagination is important to ebook development. The truth is there are no limitations to the topics that can be addressed in an ebook.

Several 'ebook only' publishers can assist you in developing your book or you can research the skills needed to develop your own ebook.

Incidentally, there are also a growing number of ebook publishers that will publish a full print edition of the book once a certain number of ebook downloads have been reached. In other words, for some writers the development of an ebook may be the means of breaking into traditional avenues of publishing. <bio>Scott Lindsay is a web developer and entrepreneur.
When it comes to promoting yourself, there is no better way to pull it off than writing articles. By submitting well-written, informative articles to online publishers, you will become an authority figure in the industry and be regarded as the one to go to. When you submit articles to online publishers, most will offer you the chance to include a short bio, as well as a link to your website. Article promotion is free advertising for you and is a great way to promote your website.

The term "free" is not often used in the advertising world of today. Many individuals and companies spend thousands of dollars each year to get their name out and try, with all their spent dollars, to bring in new clients and new visitors to their site. The fact is you don't have to spend a penny when you submit your articles to online publishers and your website and your name will be available for all visitors to see.

The wonderful thing about article promotion is that some of the publishers allow their visitors to copy the articles and place them on other websites. They do, however, have to leave the article as is, as well as make sure the author's name and information is attached. A way to make sure that your website is attached to the article is to include a resource box along with it and make sure your link is part of it whenever you partake of article promotion opportunities. What this means is that your article with all your information can spread all over the internet, that is if you make sure your link is used when use article promotion opportunities.

For example, if you submit 10 articles to 10 different sites, it gives you the opportunity for 100 links back to your site. But what happens when a quarter of those articles are put on 10 more sites? That's right. You've more than doubled the links back to your site. Before you even realize it, you could have as many as a thousand or more links to your site.

What happens when someone is looking up information on a subject and they keep coming across information that is written by you? Instantly, you are regarded as an authority on the subject at hand. This is a major benefit derived from article promotion. The one thing that will most likely happen is that you will get a visitor to your website as they browse for more information. The fact is, by submitting informative articles that are well written and give the reader something they need; you will become an individual well-known in your particular subject. By submitting your articles to online publishers, you will find yourself in the spotlight from time to time.

To get your articles noticed on the web, you can also make sure you use keyword optimization in your articles whenever you partake in article promotion opportunities. This is great for the search engines, allowing your articles to be found quicker, therefore, bringing in more visitors to your site.

Syndicating your articles is another way to get your articles to as many sites as possible. This simply makes it much easier for website owners to put content on their websites. Because it is very easy to do, it will save a lot of time for the site owner and it's a great situation for you as you no longer have to worry about marketing each of your articles individually.

When you get started, you'll simply include a link on your article to allow them to publish this, as well as any other articles you currently have available for syndication. Within days, your article can be viewed on hundreds of websites and you didn't really have to do anything but add the link to your content. Again, free advertising at its best!

If you would like to get your name and website advertised and bring in new visitors to your site, take advantage of the opportunity for free advertising by submitting well-written, informative articles. You'll be surprised by the amount of visitors you will get to your site! <bio>Adrian Lawrence is the webmaster of Article Alley a popular free content directory http://www.articlealley.com/show_arch.php web sites.
The task of getting published is one of the daunting aspects of writing. This can be difficult, if you want to get published by a traditional publishing house. It's not as difficult if you want to self-publish. In this article I will share with you the steps involved in getting your work published either traditionally or through self-publishing.

Mainstream publishers are often reluctant to accept work from young writers as anyone under 18 cannot sign a contract on their own and will require parental involvement. That is not to say you cannot submit to them but make sure your work is of high quality as you will be competing with adult writers. There are also several publishers that cater specifically to young writers, for a list of these, check out the book THE YOUNG WRITER'S GUIDE TO GETTING PUBLISHED. There are also several sites on the web that accept work from young writers such as <a href="http://stonesoup.com" >http://stonesoup.com and Merlyn's pen. Make sure you edit your work thoroughly and follow the submission guidelines for publishers carefully. Some publishers prefer that you send a query letter only at first describing your project. The query letter should be only one page long. If it is longer than that a busy editor will likely just throw it to one side. Think of the back cover summary you see on most books you buy, try to summarize what your book is about in a few words. This can be difficult but it must be done and done in a way that grabs an editor's attention. Some publishers will allow you to submit a query letter and a few chapters of your work or your entire book. It is important that you use the correct font, you can't go wrong with courier new 12 pt and a double spaced manuscript. The query letter can use the same font but there is no need to double space it.

Let's now take a look at self publishing. Self publishing has become quite easy with the advent of self publishers like Lulu. At http://lulu.com you can publish your work for free. However lulu does take a small commission of anything you sell. Lulu also sells ISBN's for around $100 U.S. dollars. An ISBN will make your book available for international sale. It will become available to places like http://Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and hundreds of other distributors worldwide. When you self publish you set your own price and your age never becomes a factor as it will be with some traditional publishers. If you decide to self publish everything falls into your hands, from editing to formatting. Lulu provides several services for these publishing details, however the costs can add up for young writers. The good news is that with patience and determination you can do it yourself. Lulu provides templates for formatting your book. If you can find a teacher, friend or parent to help you with editing you are well on your way without breaking the bank. Lulu makes making your book cover as easy as possible although you are responsible for finding your own image if you do not wish to use their images.

Finally, there is nothing like seeing your work in print and the opportunities for young writers are greater than ever. <bio>Simone Mary is a teacher, writer and artist.
Many writers aspire to write books. Writing a book is a long, involved, difficult process. Book publishing is harder. A writer may submit his book repeatedly only to be turned down. The writer may eventually succeed. Wouldn't it have been easier to get published the first time? Is that possible?

You can improve your chances of a publisher accepting your book manuscript if you understand more about what happens at the publisher's desk. Book publishers are busy people with several projects bombarding their desks every day. They must decide quickly about what will sell. They must also delegate their time efficiently to keep the business running. Only occasionally do publishers actually seek out work. Let's look at a typical work day of a publisher to help you understand book acceptance and book publishing.

PERSIST AND PERSEVERE

Writers must be persistent. Regardless of how many times a publisher rejects your book manuscript and throws your ideas in the trash, you have to keep going back for more discouragement. Eventually you'll make it in the door. If you can get all the way through, you will finally get to a place where publishers accept more of your work. When working with a book publisher, the rule is the same. If you have a book that you know will sell, you must persevere to get the publisher's attention. Most likely, you will be sending excerpts of your book, not the entire book, to a publisher. As you continually send your manuscript or book excerpts to publisher after publisher, you should try to market it in different ways. Publishers seek a particular kind of writing; they will dismiss anything that doesn't meet their criteria and high standards. Variation in your marketing techniques may turn a rejected book into an accepted book.

WHAT DO BOOK PUBLISHERS WANT?

Book publishing is a strange business. People's tastes are somewhat fickle. A book publisher has to keep up with what kinds of books will sell. It seems mysteries will always have a place on the bookshelves. Crichton and Grisham may tie up the book market until they are finished. That is just one example from one genre of books. Publishers have to keep track of what is selling in all areas of literature. The best way for you to get your work noticed is to make it look similar to what is already selling in the marketplace. Be careful not to imitate style or voice of another author. Write with your own unique words while imitating the use of popular public opinion. Another way to improve your chances of getting published is to find out who's publishing what.

ARE YOU MARKETING TO THE RIGHT PUBLISHER?

Some publishers specialize in a certain kind of writing. If you are writing a novel, you'll look stupid (and get rejected) if you send it to publishers who publish technical manuals. How do you find out who is the most likely candidate to publish your work? There are reference manuals, such as Writer's Market, at your library that will tell you who's publishing what and what publishers are seeking. It will contain valuable information leading you to children's book publishers, novel publishers, and textbook publishers. If the handbook at your library is not up to date, your next option is to check out the new releases and best sellers rack at the bookstore. Buy a few books and read them. You'll have a much better feel for the book market as a consumer first, and book writer second.

Book publishing is difficult to break into. It can be helpful to approach the issue from the direction of the publisher. Before you submit your manuscript again, improve your chances of acceptance by following these tips:

1) Change your marketing style so that you grab attention;

2) Make sure you are a book consumer yourself. You'll get a better feel for what's selling and what a publisher will buy. You'll also find out who is publishing which types of books.

3) Finally, by buying the product you are trying to sell, you will improve the book economy all together. Publishers need to see people buying books before they can commit to publishing more.

Many authors begin their careers with the single goal of getting their book published by a reputable publisher. Book publishing is difficult to accomplish. It takes many months of work and extensive preparation. Writing a book involves intricately woven ideas. A book is a project, and it may contain many other projects that involve research, development, and marketing. Most authors are disillusioned about the intensive process of creating a full, coherent book. Writing a book and finding a publisher is like nothing you have ever done before. It will take extensive and intensive work and development. It will also probably include much of everything you know, and more. <bio>Learn how to become a published book author!
In the next few years, some of the wealthiest people in the world will be created - and do you know what they'll have in common? They'll all be content publishers.

In this article, we discuss the potential in this industry, whether you really can be a one-man publisher, which niches are best suited for content and what you need in order to get started.

Why Individual Content Publishers Are Generating Returns That Border On The Realms Of Fantasy.

There's two things you must keep in mind. First, we live in the information age, and nothing is more topical or in-demand in this era than quality information. Second, over the past decade people have moved onto the internet in their millions - and what's the internet all about? That's right - information.

This is exactly why online content publishers are supremely placed to take advantage of the massive information boom that we're experiencing today. You see, information as a "product" is a beauty. It has a near 100% pro-fit margin, and with the technology today it's possible for content publishers to employ several different in-come models to suit the market and prospect. Where once we only had standard affiliate programs, we now have a suite of monetisation options such as contextual (Adsense), pay-per-lead and so on.

How To Pick A Niche That's Perfectly Suited To Information?

If only you could just pick any old niche, set-up a site and watch the green roll in eh? I'm afraid it's not quite as simple as that and one of the most fatal mistakes aspiring content publishers make is in choosing the wrong niche to publish their content sites in. Even a really good content site in a poor niche will fail, while a terrible one in a red-hot niche will flourish. It's sad but true.

Want to know the three niches that are the best I've ever seen for content publishers? The ones where a simple content or blog can generate truly sensational yields? Internet marketing is NOT one of them (it's not bad, just not a top-five niche). In my view, the best three are:

- Finance and investment - Real estate - Travel

The reason for this lies mainly in the way that monetisation is possible within these niches. For example, finance and investment has some big ticket affiliate programs where commissions of $600+ per sale are not uncommon.

Travel is perfectly suited to Adsense while real estate has some wonderful pay per lead opportunities (this is when you get paid everytime a visitor does something like download a free ebook or fill out a free application form - the beauty being your visitor doesn't need to pay anything for you to get a commission).

What Do You Need To Get Started With Content Publishing Immediately?

We've seen the potential, and the importance of cherry-picking only the most lucrative markets. Now comes the process of actually setting up the content website. Here are your basic options:

(a) If you're technically sound and have enough time you can do this from scratch using a html editor like Frontpage.

(b) If you have the resources, you can hire a web-designer to create and publish your sites for you.

(c) Invest in a point and click type content publishing tool. The advantage here is you don't need any coding knowledge and the tool allows you to create search engine friendly pages and easily add in advanced features like RSS feeds, opt-in form creation, affiliate code integration and so on.

The really exciting thing is that individuals like you and I are becoming wealthy beyond their wildest imaginiation by setting up as content publishers and developing websites and blogs that continue to bring in residual incomes while they focus on the next project. And they're doing it on their laptops at home, while watching MTV. <bio>Want to join the stunning content publishing boom? The "Content Publisher Pro" package is built for the inexperienced and includes point and click software that creates stunning, income-ready websites. The five best niches report also included: http://www.digital-resale-rights.com/contentpro.html </bio>

The popularity of iPod and MP3 players has boosted the market of audio books in recent years. Some book publishers even predicted that audio books would outsell paperback books or e-books one day. Indeed, this trend is understandable when you consider the benefits of audio books over paperback books.

1) Listening to audio books is convenient and it fits the busy lifestyle of modern people. You can listen to your favorite novels anytime anywhere, while you are walking, shopping, waiting at a doctor's clinic or doing housework.

2) For many people, listening to an audio book is more entertaining and exciting than reading a paperback book.

3) Listening to audio book is more relaxing. You can sit down, take a rest and close your eyes while listening to your favourite book.

4) Downloading audio titles is easy and quick. You don't need to wait for the shipment to arrive or look for a particular book at the bookstore.

5) Audio books are affordable. Many audio book clubs provide audio book download and rental services at low cost. You can rent unlimited audio books or download 1-2 audio titles for less than $15 per month. In addition, there is no shipping cost involved.

6) Audio book is a good learning tool. You can improve your listening skill and vocabulary by listening to the audio book alone or reading the paperback book at the same time.

7) Parents can listen to audio books together with their kids and have fun. An audio book can substitute a bedtime story.

8) For the book publishers, audio book recordings can be duplicated easily and downloadable audio books will never run out of stock.

9) Unlike paperback books, audio books can be kept for indefinite period of time, they are easy to store and do not take up space.

To sum up, digital audio books provide hours of entertainment to listeners at low cost. More and more book publishers now produce digital audio titles simultaneously with the release of the paperback version. If you have not listened to an audio book before, try this new way of entertainment and experience the difference. <bio>Kwan H Lo is the owner of an online site, http://top10books.4reviews.net, which provides information on audio book clubs and audio book rental / download services. </bio>

There are many benefits when you submit articles to article directories.

Credibility is one of the most important benefits. When you are on the Internet you need all the credibility you can get. It is hard to know whom to trust. When you write lots of articles and submit them, you will become known as an expert in the field in which you are writing about.

When you submit, you might get placed on a publishers home page which will give you tons of exposure. Exposure equals hits to your website and when you have exposure and credibility, you will have a buyer who trusts you and will not hesitate to buy your product.

One of the greatest benefits of submitting is the free advertising you get. Most of the time, advertising is not cheap. It is usually quite expensive. Submitting to article directories is free, and everyone loves free.

Another terrific benefit of submitting your article to article directories is the highly targeted traffic you will receive. You know that if they are reading your article, then they will be interested in what you have to offer on your website that you include in your author box. Nothing is better than highly targeted traffic.

Submitting articles will improve your search engine rankings. The website you include in your author box will improve your link popularity which will improve your search engine rank. More search engine hits equals more visitors to your website which equals more money!

Submitting articles will give you visitors for years. Articles don't go away. They stay on the net and multiply. Other publishers copy them, with your author box and source, and they put them on their site. This happens over and over again. You will also gain many backlinks from the publishers who copy your article, which again, improves your search engine ranking. <bio>http://www.articler.com </bio>

t has to be a worrying time for the magazine publishing industry. Although I don't share the digital belief that printed media will evaporate all together with the emergence of online and digital technologies it would be naive to think it isn't going to be effected negatively at all. Have a look at the stats below detailing the demise of mens magazines in the second half of 2006:

(Key: Magazine title: Jan-Jun figures -Jul-Dec figures)

FHM: 420,688 (down 25%) - 371,263 (down 26%) Loaded: 185,268 (down 22%) - 162,554 (down 30%) Maxim: 146,043 (down 35%) - 131,497 (down 29%) Nuts: 304,785 (down 1%)- 295,002 (down 4%) Zoo: 228,024 (down 12%)- 204,564 (down 21%)

(The percentage down is compared to the corresponding period in 2005)

Its easy to see why this sector of the magazine publishing market would be effected so dramatically by the rise of online. Its main readership of 15-30 male's discect the long established strong hold of the internets primary user group- who are more likely than most to seek out their entertainment in more convenient, cheaper and fresher forms.

The move towards weekly publication with the release of Nuts and Zoo from the publishers of FHM and Loaded was a step towards bridging the immediacy of the online medium. Content needs to be more current in the digital age, it can't sit on a coffee table for a month before its updated- blogging is a powerful example of this immediacy.

In reality though printed media can never recreate the immediacy of the internet and hence all the mens magazines have moved online, releasing massive amounts of content for free simultaneously or just after release in the printed format. This was a big step but obviously a neccesary one and it would be near impossible to mediate the free replication of magazine content in scanned form across the web. At least with online the publishers get the option of a secondary but highly lucrative advertising stream as well as a prime opportunity to upsell the printed version of the magazine and offer premium rate services.

Another spin on the immediacy problem has been tackled by Monkey magazine from the publishers of Maxim who produce a twice weekly online magazine distributed through an email marketing list. This innovative approach to selling digital advertising space with premium content on a free distribution model seems like a good solution but not for the whole industry as its a market which could too easily become saturated. There's only so much email marketing anyone can stand even when its fully opt-in. Monkey was the fastest growing mens magazine in the first quarter of 2007 so it would be surprising if the others didn't try and jump on the bandwagon.

Ultimately the problem with mens magazine's may not be the distribution but the content. While the naked women are as popular as ever the jokes, news, stories and gadgets tend to be old and are often sourced from online origins. Its hard to see a bright future for printed media which recreates the online experience and sells it back at a cost or gives it away online. <bio>John McElborough writes for Vanilla Digital the digital marketing blog. http://www.vanilladigital.com </bio>

Are you a self-published author who is tired of getting the door slammed in your face by reviewers, contests, conferences and more just because your books aren't published by a traditional publisher? Join the club! And I do mean join. If we as self-publishers don't begin to work together to combat the bias against our work, we are going to continue to be treated as and feel like second-class citizens of the writing community.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that poorly written, unedited, crummy-looking books should be given the same treatment as high-quality books. But I am saying that books should be judged on their own merits, not on whether they are published by the author or by someone related to the author, and not by the number of copies that are printed at a time. How can someone judge a book when they haven't even seen it?

People say authors only self-publish because they can't get a traditional publisher. That's not my story. I chose to publish my mystery novel, TOO NEAR THE EDGE, through my family publishing company, PMI Books. I didn't send the novel to any agents or publishers first. I made the self-publishing decision based on my experience with my two published nonfiction books=97one, self-published has sold over 50,000 copies and is now in its 4th edition; the other was published by a major traditional publisher sold about 5,000 copies and is now out of print.

My self-published novel, TOO NEAR THE EDGE has gotten good reviews from online reviewers and won a silver medal for best regional fiction in the 2007 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY) contest. It's available on Amazon and other online sites, and I can keep it in print as long as I want. But if I want it to sell, I have to promote it, which is harder than it should be due to the bias against self-publishers.

I understand that approximately 800 books are published every day and reviewers are deluged with books to review. But I hate that like a trendy new NYC bar, they man the door so that only the well-connected get in. Reviewers should be in the business of judging books not judging publishers. Just give our books a chance.

And why should self-published authors be given second class status at conferences? Here's what happened to me after I found out that the annual "Left Coast Crime Convention," (LLC) meeting=97a mystery convention sponsored by mystery fans, for mystery fans=97will be in my area in 2008. I figured this would be a chance to go to a regional conference as an author, meet fans, and maybe even get my book in the "book room" to sell. But, no. It turns out that to be considered an author at the LLC I have to either meet the requirements for active membership in the Mystery Writers of America or be shortlisted for a major mystery award like the Edgar or the Anthony. That means I have to have been paid at least $1,000 in advances and/or royalties for my book, which had an initial print run of at least 500 copies. But even then, I can't be considered an author at their conference if my book is self-published or cooperatively published. My publisher must have been in business for at least two years and publish at least five other authors per year, none of whom may be an employee, business partner, or a relative of the publisher. And my publisher must be on the MWA list of approved publishers.

Well my publishing company, PMI Books, belongs to PMA, and we are reputable=97but clearly, given all their criteria, they aren't going to put us on their approved list.

So I tried to get in under award thing. My book isn't shortlisted for the mystery awards they list, but I wrote them a very polite email asking if the IPPY would qualify me to be an author at their conference. They replied that I don't meet the eligibility requirements and that awards like the IPPY are not on the list, "since they are primarily awarded to authors from non-traditional publishing houses."

Enough!! These criteria are outdated, unfair and shortsighted. They arbitrarily exclude books and authors based not on the quality of the books but on the publisher and method of printing. There must be a better way. Self-publishers need to work together to end this bias against us.

I've started a new blog=97The Populist Publisher=97where I hope self-published authors can come together to change our image. I invite you to join us. <bio>Lynn Osterkamp, Ph.D., MSW, is a writer, publisher and social worker.
Adsense has several products under its belt and some are obviously more popular than others. Web publishers have been discussing and comparing adsense products such as referrals and contextual advertising in popular forums such as Digitalpoint. Apparently, referral products and even Google search does not appear as popular as contextual ads. Why is that so?

Publishers only benefit from contextual advertising when visitors click on the ads on the web page. In many instances, in order to achieve that, ads are optimized to blend in nicely with the look and feel of the web pages. When done right, these ads look like relevant links on the site and if visitors are interested in what is being advertised, they will click on the ads. Contextual ads are simple to implement and ads will show on the site within minutes of copying and pasting some simple Javascript code.

In contrast, it is not easy to generate the same amount of revenue using other adsense products such as Google search and referrals. Like contextual ads, implementing Google search involves copying and pasting some code. However, unlike contextual ads, publishers do not benefit when searches are being made. Each search returns a set of relevant results and if there are ads for those keywords, they will appear as sponsored results at the top of the page. The publisher only earns when the visitor clicks on one of those sponsored ads. So let's recap. The visitor has to key in some keywords, click on the search submit button, wait for the results to load, and IF he or she clicks on an ad, the publisher earns some money. Compare that to contextual ads, where the visitor simply have to make a simple click and the money is credited to the publisher's account.

It is even more difficult to convert visitors to revenue using Adsense referral products, although each conversion generally pays more. For example, refer a publisher to the Google Adsense program and if the publisher makes $100 within 180 days, another $100 will be credited to the publisher who sent the referral. That means the visitor has to visit a site, somehow locate the Adsense referral button, click on it, read more about the program, sign up and wait for approval. Upon approval, the publisher will have to implement the products and make $100 within 180 days. If not, whoever sent the referral to the adsense program makes nothing.

Here's another example. The Adsense program pays a referral fee if a visitor clicks on a button or link, download and successfully install the Firefox browser. The publisher's job, will then be trying to convince the visitor that Firefox is good for him or her, and send the visitor to the download page. If the visitor downloads the 5.33MB file and successfully install the browser, the publisher gets up to a dollar. Needless to say, it is indeed much tougher for the publisher to earn that dollar, compared to contextual ads.

So where does that leave publishers? Publishers want to promote the Firefox browser but what if they don't have any software/webmaster related sites that will convert nicely? So let's say a publisher have a site about dogs. He or she could put a download link on the site that says andquot; We recommend searching more about dogs using the Google toolbarandquot;. The publisher don't get paid for the download but when the installer uses the toolbar to make a search and click on an ad, the account gets credited with money. The concept behind it is similar to Google search, just that it's on a toolbar. Google could come up with a web-based control panel (likely within adsense login) for publishers to generate the download. In the market, there are already web-based control panel tools that allows users to customize and generate brandable toolbars for download. Therefore, this idea could definitely become a profitable possibility for publishers and would be a dream come true for many!

Still, there remains one small nagging problem. Implementing such a product will mean that Google will have to share search revenues with publishers. Of the reported $1.098 billion dollars generated from Google owned sites in the final quarter of 2005, how much is Google willing to share? <bio>Darren Chow is the owner and editor of a network of http://www.sg-web-design.com </bio>
