There are several reasons why you may need to give your dog an enema and they include to help rehydrate dogs that are vomiting or have severe diarrhea, to administer medications to your dog or to relieve a dog that is suffering from constipation. It is important to only use an enema when you are sure what they condition is, using an enema can be problematic under some situations as it may mask the real problems so always have your dog checked by a vet if you have any concerns at all before giving an enema.

Depending on the size of your dog there are two different types of products that can be used to give an enema. For small and toy breeds a plastic syringe that holds approximately 2-3 tablespoons of liquid is all that is required but for medium to large breeds an enema bag with a rubber nozzle will be required. Remember that it is not just the volume of liquid introduced to the body at one time that is important; it is the routine introduction of liquids that helps, especially in cases of dehydration due to vomiting and diarrhea.

Start with 2-3 tablespoons of warm but not hot water for small dogs or up to one pint of warm but not hot water for larger breeds. To this water add a few drops of lemon juice and a few grains of sea salt and a pinch of potassium chloride to help with rehydration. If you are only trying to relieve constipation, the salt and potassium chloride will not be necessary. In most dehydration situations this process will need to be repeated every 4 hours, but only make up enough for a single use at a time.

Start by mixing the liquid and testing to make sure it is warm but not hot. Add the liquid to the syringe or enema bag, then lubricate the nozzle or end with vegetable oil. Since the dog will have a bowel movement within a few minutes of the procedure and their may be some leakage, this should be completed outdoors or in a bathtub or sink. A partner is essential to help you hold the dog facing away from you. Grasp the tail and gently lift, then insert the syringe or enema nozzle into the rectum until the end is completely inserted. Gently depress the plunger or squeeze the enema bag until all liquid is in the dog's rectum. Remove the nozzle and allow the dog to move about. In severely dehydrated dogs the liquid will actually be absorbed by the colon, which is exactly what you want to have happen. If there are any problems resulting from the dog enema, consult a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Hopefully, these steps will help you dog get back on track and feel better. Your dog's happiness is always important to any family. I know that I love my dogs and they mean the world to me and I will do anything for them.<bio>For more information recommended by Kelly Marshall, see these recent articles Is your Dog's Food Responsible For His Behavior? and Microchips For Dogs Make Sense.</bio>

One of the practical uses for setting up a water fountain is to provide oxygen for wildlife such as Koi fish. The extra movement of water that a fountain provides enriches the water with oxygen. This not only provides oxygen for the creatures you choose to inhabit your water feature but also keeps the water from going stagnant and attracting wildlife you do not want -- such as mosquitoes. Oxygenating fountains are most practical additions for garden ponds.

If your primary intention is to create more oxygen for your water feature, it is advisable to purchase the largest water pump that you can afford. Place the water pump directly onto the fountainhead nozzle and set the nozzle to then produce the most complex spray formation. The spray formation is not only to make your fountain aesthetically interesting but it also stimulates the water to produce larger amounts of oxygen. For example, a geyser fountain whose water formation is dense will produce more oxygen than a fountain that spews out thin sprays of mist.

Types of Fountain Spray Formations

A popular type of fountain pattern is the geyser. Geysers are always exciting because they are slightly erratic and produce a thick, foamy flow of water. This is a great choice for open and breezy sites, as the water will not be dispersed all over. Geysers definitely invite an audience, especially delighting children. This type of fountain lends itself well to a tropical themed pond setting decorated with many heavy lava looking rocks.

Fountain jets produce a very simple water pattern. Fountain jets are a no nonsense type of d=E9cor that simply does its job. The appeal to these types of fountains is that they are relatively inexpensive and they look good in any kind of pond. You can have a very simple plain cement pond or have a colorful ceramic tile pond and the fountain jet will lend itself well to both. They are flexible.

Bell jet fountains are always interesting. The water falls over like a smoothly shaped bell or mushroom appearance. These give a structured effect that lends itself well to small, formal ponds. The water falls in a more relaxing fashion. Having a bell jet would also call for seating next to your water feature so that guests can sit and relax. This truly invites people to become one with their natural surroundings.

Last, single spray nozzles are a good choice if you want to create a bold, dynamic effect for your water feature or pond. These shoot sprays that are higher and more daring than other fountain nozzles. This might be a good choice for a contemporary look and definitely for a front yard rather than the back. These types of water formations call for attention and it is definitely something that should be seen and not hidden.

When installing both the pump and the nozzle of your choice, make sure your hands are clean and that the water is free from debris. Any sand or soil that gets into the pump or nozzle will affect the water flow. You definitely want to achieve the most efficient water flow, as your whole intention is to produce the most oxygen for the wildlife inhabiting your water feature. <bio>Elizabeth Jean writes water fountain and related articles for http://Garden-Fountains.com, the #1 destination on the internet for wall fountains, garden fountains, and distinctive water features. </bio>

Sometimes, you may need to do more than just giving solid or liquid medication to your sick dog. Depending on his condition and symptoms, you may also have to provide other kinds of nursing care, such as giving enemas. Below is an effective way to use this procedure:

The use of enemas can be beneficial for dogs that has the following conditions; constipation, during fasting, dehydration, excessive vomiting, bowel irritation caused by bone fragments or the presence of spoiled food or garbage in the digestive tract.

Before administering this procedure, make sure that you only use pure water that is warm but not hot (test it on your wrist to make sure). Use about two tablespoons for a small dog and up to a pint for a large dog. Add a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the water and administer the mixture with a plastic or rubber syringe for about 2 to 3 minutes. For large dogs, you can use and enema bag and a nozzle.

Here is how to do it: You must lubricate the end of the syringe with vegetable oil. Have someone help you hold the dog gently while he stands in a tub or on the ground. Insert the nozzle carefully into the rectum. Using gentle and consistent pressure against the anus (to prevent the fluid from leaking out), slowly fill the colon. If the solution does not flow in easily, pull back on the nozzle or syringe and slightly adjust the angle. Expect a bowel movement to begin within a few minutes. You may administer the enema once or twice a day for a couple of days.

In many cases, dogs that are dehydrated are simply retaining the fluid. This occurs when the colon absorbs the fluid which the body needs. Therefore, enemas are an excellent way to administer fluid therapy. Under these circumstances, administer the enema about every four hours or until fluid is no longer retained.

If a dog is having difficulty keeping water in his stomach due to heavy vomiting, an enema can help introduce the fluid and salts that are needed to replace those lost through vomiting. Using the solution as described earlier, add a pinch of sea salt plus a pinch of potassium chloride. The same solution can also be used to help a dog suffering from prolonged diarrhea. In this case, administer the enema every four hours or until fluid is no longer retained. <bio>John Mailer has written many articles about dogs and puppies and how to train them. His main business is as an internet marketer. http://www.basicsdogtraining.com/petgrooming.html http://www.basicsdogtraining.com/dognutrition.html http://www.howtostartonlinehomebusiness.com </bio>

The history of the Electrolux Corporation did not start with the mighty "dollar" if one would ever interpret it this way, neither was there a start of a big corporate organization with handful of well-pocketed gentlemen ready for turnover of big incorporated capital stocks to start on a highly sophisticated corporation.

It was the other way around, for it started very humbly on "sales" some 90 years ago on of one of the most celebrated appliance-unit, the "vacuum cleaner" of today's giant Electrolux Corporate Groups.

The Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner is the solid core of today's Electrolux business conglomerate. Less than a century ago, Axel Wenner-Gren, on a one-time window-shop-stroll through the busy streets of Vienna, Austria, he saw a vacuum cleaner in one of the shop windows.

An insight immediately came into mind, "What if every household will have the good chance to own one like it, life will be easier and happy." Leave the rest to history, for that single idea in selling the vacuum cleaners "house to house" has revolutionized into what is at present quality brand in appliance, Electrolux.

SUPERIOR MODEL TYPES ELECTROLUX VACUUM CLEANERS

Combines beautiful designs, best technical innovative features, and credibility in function, it tackles all tasks in the home to make easy and happier lives of people.
Machines used for cleaning surfaces with hot water are called steam cleaners. Steam cleaners are used to kill allergens, bacteria, mold, and fungus on surfaces. Steam cleaners are mostly used in homes, inns and restaurants, etc. Home steam cleaners are used to clean surfaces such as in the bathroom, or the carpet and so on. A steam cleaner can be used to clean any surface which is heat resistant.

There are two types of steam cleaners; traditional steam cleaners, and vapor steam cleaners. The traditional steam cleaners include a boiler, container, hose and brushes, and use warm water to make the surface clean. They are used to clean floors only. The warm water is spread on the dirty surface, and then the revolving brushes scrub the surface and collect the dirty water into a container. Some cleaners need cleaning agents to remove stains, but mostly rely on steam and brushes to perform this process.

Vapor steam cleaners include a container with a heater, a hose and a nozzle. Water is boiled in the tank to produce dry steam. This dry steam is thrown onto the dirty surface via a hose and nozzle. The steam helps in loosening the dirt and stains on the surface. The surface is then cleaned with the help of a vacuum cleaner.

Moisture content is only 6% in the vapor steam cleaner, so the surface will dry as soon as it is cleaned. Any heat resistant surface can be washed by a vapor steam cleaner. It is generally used by people who are allergic to chemicals.

Then there are steam cleaners made specifically to clean carpets. Instead of using steam, they use hot water to clean the carpet. After wetting the carpet, brushes in the steamer scrub it, and unclean water is sucked back into the container. The use of an air conditioner at the same time is good, as it eliminates humidity from the air, and the carpet gets dried quickly. Once the carpet is dry, make sure that it is then vacuumed so it is cleaned properly.

Steam cleaners can have an inbuilt water container or they can have a constant water supply. The latter is more convenient, as you will not need to fill the tank again and again.

You can get various models of steam cleaners. Before purchasing, you should look for boiler capacity, its attachments, warranty and user manual etc. It is also important that you go through all the manufacture instructions before using your stream cleaner. <bio>Stefan Rockhaus provides tips on various home and family topics. In England, of course, this is not so vital a matter as with us. With
less sun, more rain, and more moisture in the air, rock garden plants, especially alpines, are as apt to suffer from excessive moisture there as they are from lack of it here.

When speaking of the proper means of applying water, however, it is not in reference to either the watering can or a hose with the usual garden nozzle. The former takes too much time, and the latter applies water so rapidly that it will begin to run on the surface before the soil is saturated clear through.

But it is a simple matter to provide a mist like spray which will saturate the driest soil through and through without spattering mud on the smallest leaves or the most delicate blossoms, or causing the soil to run out from the most precarious rock crevices. There is a special type of greenhouse irrigation nozzle which applies the water in this fine mist like spray.

If this type of nozzle is substituted for the ordinary nozzles in a portable irrigating outfit, the rock garden can be watered with the utmost thoroughness and safety whenever necessary. Such a watering will last two or three times as long as one given with the ordinary watering can or hose nozzle.

Another option available is a short, brass tube fitted with a hose coupling at one end and one of these mist-throwing nozzles at the other--recommended for watering all fine seedlings or delicate plants. The hose, equipped with this nozzle attachment, may be supported in one position and left for a long time without any danger of overwatering.

For a large rock garden, however, a portable irrigating outfit of the nozzle-line type, with greenhouse nozzles in place of the ordinary garden or lawn nozzles, will be found the watering system par excellence. It is supported on metal rods which may be pushed down anywhere along the garden path or between outdoor statuary (http://www.garden-fountains.com/Detail.bok?no=1062) without disturbing the growing plants and it may be set up or taken down in a few moments.

There is probably no question connected with rock gardening which is more of a bugaboo to the beginner than that of providing suitable soil, or soils, for the little friends whom he has invited into his garden and intends to do his best to make happy.

To read some of the works on this subject, the layman may easily get the impression that it is really necessary to provide each individual plant with a soil made up according to a special prescription! Nowhere in the whole broad field of gardening is "debunking" required more than here.

The secret of success with rock plants, so far as soil is concerned, is the old, old one of going back to nature and of taking a look at what she provides them with.

Drainage

If you climb up a rocky mountain slope to the timberline, to the bleak and native haunt of the alpines, or search out most of the other rock plants and find where they grow as wildlings, the most apparent characteristic of the soils in which they grow is plainly to be discerned--it is exceptionally excellent drainage.

Drainage not of the subsoil--as we usually speak of it in connection with flower garden, orchard, or field--but quick and complete drainage of the surface. Often the clumps of leaves of the little plant, hugging the ground closely as they must to preserve an existence, rest directly upon shale, gravel, splinters of rocks, or garden fountains, http://www.garden-fountains.com/Detail.bok?no=2918.

Our first consideration in supplying a man-made soil for this class
of plants should be porosity, assuring not only good drainage as we ordinarily use the term, but the immediate escape of all surplus water to the lower soil levels.

Moisture

If however, you attempt to pull up one of these tiny, and possibly rather frail-looking, denizens of the plant world, you get a sharp surprise. It is simply anchored fast, and will require much more effort to dislodge it than would many plants in your garden ten times its size.

In fact, if you could succeed in getting it out, roots and all--which would be extremely difficult--the most conspicuous thing about it would be the extreme length of the roots in proportion to the top. This would involve dredging up any soil, earth, rocks, or outdoor water features (http://www.garden-fountains.com/Categories.bok?category=Garden+Fountains) that may be obstructing access to the roots.

If you could follow to where the roots penetrate, you would discover an unsuspected degree of moisture in the stone-filled soil; for stones, in spite of their dry appearance, are among the most efficacious of moisture conservers. Thus, in addition to exceptional drainage, we must add to our analysis an abundant moisture supply.

Plant Food

If we inquire still further into the life secrets of these little plants, and attempt to seek out their food sources of sustenance, we immediately strike a rock, both figuratively and literally. Most of our common garden plants would starve to death in the soil in which they thrive.

Vice versa, many of these little plants cannot long survive a diet of manure and fertilizers on which our garden plants grow lustily--although some of them, it must be confessed, will take to the change like ducks to water. It is apparent that a large supply of plant food, as we prepare it for our long domesticated garden flowers and shrubs, is one of the things that is not essential for the class of plants under consideration.<bio>Sarah Martin is a freelance marketing writer specializing in home improvement, landscaping, and gardening.
Specialist applications require different types of concrete. Examples of concrete include regular concrete, high strength concrete, high-performance concrete, self-compacting concrete, shotcrete, pervious concrete, cellular concrete, roller-compacted concrete and asphalt concrete. The use of recycled glass as an aggregate is popular these days because of aesthetic appeal.

A great variety of products are made from concrete. Examples include pavements, masonry, pipes and insulating concrete.

Regular concrete is what you get when you follow the mixing instructions on a packet of cement, using sand or an aggregate. This type of concrete can be made to have a strength of 10MPa to 40MPa depending what it is going to be used for. 10MPa should be sufficient for blinding, for example, but structural concrete should be 40MPa.

High strength concrete has a compressive strength of usually more than 6000 pounds per square inch (40 MPa). You make high strength concrete by lowering the water to cement ratio to 0.35 or lower. Silica fume is often added to prevent the formation of free calcium hydroxide crystals in the cement matrix, because this might reduce the strength at the cement-aggregate bond.

High performance concrete is quite a new term and describes concrete that conforms to a certain set of standards including strength. High strength concrete is also high performance but not all high performance concrete is high strength. Some examples of these standards include density, toughness, volume stability, a long life even in severe environments, long term mechanical properties, compaction without segregation, ease of placement, early age strength, permeability and heat of hydration.

Shotcrete is often used against rock surfaces or vertical soil because formwork is unnecessary. It can be used for rock support, especially when tunneling. There are two application methods for shotcrete =96 dry mix or wet mix procedures. When using dry mix, the dry mixture of aggregates and cement fill the machine and are conveyed through the hoses with compressed air. The water necessary for hydration gets added at the nozzle. When preparing wet mix, the mixes are made with all the water necessary for hydration and pumped through the hoses. Compressed air is added for spraying, at the nozzle. For both wet mix and dry mix, additives such as fiber reinforcement and accelerators may be used.

To produce uniform, high quality concrete, it is necessary to mix your cement mixture thoroughly. In the process of hydrating and hardening, concrete has to develop certain chemical and physical properties. Among other qualities, low moisture permeability, mechanical strength and chemical and volumetric stability are very important factors. <bio>For more information and a free newsletter visit our blog at http://myhomeimprovementtips.com and additional tips and resources on concrete can be found at http://www.tipsonconcrete.com </bio>

With an espresso machine in your kitchen at home, you can make your own latte's to enjoy for yourself- and to impress your dinner guests! Some people look at the price of a home espresso machine and change their minds, but if consider what you typically pay when you buy a latte at your local coffee shop, whether it is a mom and pop shop or a chain (like Dunkin' Donuts), you're spending anywhere from $2 to $4 for a latte! Your espresso machine will more than pay for itself in a short time of making your lattes from home. Having your own espresso machine means having the ability to make latte's for much less than you spend on them when you go out. Plus you can enjoy them anytime- not just when you're on the road. Also, lattes are a wonderful after dinner complement- particularly when you have guests over!

Making a latte is all a part of the fun of having an espresso machine. While some people like to drink espresso shots right out of the machine, most people would prefer to make a latte or cappuccino to sit and enjoy with a good book, or good friends and conversation!

The espresso machine will grind your espresso beans fresh for every cup, giving you the fresh taste latte lovers have come to recognize as an integral part of the latte. Depending on your particular brand of espresso machine, you'll probably dispense about 7 grams of espresso into the handle. Once you've extracted the espresso shot into the provided espresso shot pot (usually stainless steel, with a pouring spout), you can start steaming your milk!

The basic recipe is 1 to 2 ounces of espresso to 8 fluid ounces of milk. Put your milk into the frothing jug, and slide the entire container over the steam arm nozzle. Make sure you keep the nozzle as close to the bottom of the container as possible to avoid making a lot of foam out of your milk. Use a thermometer so you know when the milk reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

Now you are ready to pour your steamed milk into the serving cup. A glass latte cup will look the best, and really impress your friends! Pour the steamed milk into the glass, using a spoon to hold back most of the foam that forms on the top of the milk. Once you've filled your cup with the milk, allow some of the foam to lie on the top for a "professional coffee shop latte" look.

Your final step to preparing a latte at home is to take your espresso shot and pour it slowly down the inside of the latte serving glass. Some of the espresso will mix with the milk at the bottom of the glass and some will layer itself in between the milk and foam. You'll have cloudy areas and several different shades of "latte brown", making for a wonderful presentation that rivals that of the best coffee house. Only you won't be paying $4 a cup, and you can make it and drink it in your pajamas if you want to!

If you really want to make the presentation impressive, place your guests' lattes on a cute little serving tray, with a decorative plate of fancy cookies. Biscotti's are typically served with lattes, but you can be creative and serve anything you like. Maybe you could make some tiramisu using your espresso to make it from scratch for dessert, and enjoy slices of tiramisu with your homemade lattes! Your guests will want to come for dinner all the time once they experience your after dinner lattes. <bio>This article has been provided courtesy of Kitchen Junkie, http://www.kitchenjunkie.com </bio>

The diamond wedding, 60th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip is on the 20th November 2007

Little did I dream when enrolling for a course on Advanced Royal Icing many years ago, that I would be copying the design of the Queen's wedding cake.

When she married in 1947, McVitie and Price of Edinburgh presented the Queen (then Princess Elizabeth) with a wedding cake. The breathtaking four-tiered cake stood nine feet high, and was decorated with hundreds of filigree-like pieces of royal icing. Around the sides of the cakes were delicate, curved `galleries', reminiscent of the turrets on Scottish castles - so loved by the royal family.

And I am sure you can imagine how we felt when told we were decorating a cake in the same design. Luckily, our cake, already covered in marzipan, was only six inches across. So with the weekend in front of us, and the guidance of an experienced tutor, we set to work.

First, the royal icing had to be beaten to the correct consistency - not too stiff, or it would not spread easily, or too soft otherwise it would run down the sides of the cake. It had to be the consistency of beaten double cream - soft enough to give a smooth, even layer. Each layer had to dry before the next was applied, and the cake given three layers,

Next we started to pipe the dainty lace-like pieces of royal icing. Everything had to be ready in advance - the designs for the cake were laid out, each under separate pieces of transparent, non-stick paper. Curved moulds of differing sizes were placed ready to receive each section immediately it was piped.

This time the icing had to be another consistency. Well beaten, so it would hold its shape, but soft enough to go through a fine nozzle (tip). And to make sure the nozzle did not become blocked, we pressed the icing through a square of nylon. Then began the task of piping dozens of filigree pieces. As each piece was finished, it was carefully placed over the right sized curved mould - a dot of icing under each corner of the paper kept the pattern in place.

It helps when piping fine detail to keep the elbow close to the body. This prevents the arm moving. Supporting the icing bag with the finger of the opposite hand is also a good idea - it makes sure the piping goes exactly where you want it.

Talking about icing bags reminds me to say that for a task such as the one above, only use a small icing bag. The larger the bag the more difficult it is to control. And a bag made from baking parchment is stronger than one made from greaseproof paper and much more `user-friendly than a nylon bag. These are difficult to grip and are usually far too large for working with royal icing.

And so we spent two intensive days piping. It didn't help that we were advised not to talk! Not that we felt much like chatting, we needed all our concentration for the task in hand. Eventually all the pieces were finished. Now came the job of constructing the design.

Again the consistency of the icing was changed. We needed a stiffer icing. Using a wooden spoon we re-beat the icing (this alone made it slightly stiffer) and then added sieved icing sugar. A slightly larger nozzle (tip) was chosen, and we set about positioning the delicate sections in place. Once the paper had been gently peeled away from the back of each piece, a line of icing was piped on it, and it was carefully placed in position.

Eventually we were able to sit back and admire our work. Cameras came out and everyone relaxed and agreed it had been a weekend well worth the effort. Our next worry was how to get the cakes home in one piece!

Some years later I decided to decorate our son's wedding cake in the same design. This time it was on a three-tiered cake - but that's another story. Still, as Shakespeare wrote `All's well that ends well' and it did. <bio>Pat Lock is a cake decorating expert with over 25 years experience who runs the excellent http://Cake-Decorating-Tips.com website.
Dog grooming has its own significance in pet care. It not only improves the look of your pet, but also provides it with better health.

All things such as brushing, bathing, and cleaning of the ears need to be carried out regularly, and by doing so, you can keep your pet healthy.

It is important that you brush your pet every day to keep your pet's hair dirt free. It also spreads natural oil, which in turn prevents tangling of hair and keeps the skin clean and irritation free. If you make grooming a routine, then your pet will eventually begin to enjoy it.

Another important part of your pet that needs cleaning is the nails. It is important that you trim the nails of your pet once a month. Always use a clipper that is specifically designed for the type of pet you have.

To cut the nails, make your pet sit beside you. Next, place one of your pet's paws in your hand, and then trim the nails gently. Trim carefully, making sure you stop before the quick, which contains nerves and blood vessels. If the quick does get harmed, then use a moist cotton ball with clotting powder and press it for a few minutes to stop the bleeding.

You also need to always keep your pet's ears clean. Unclean ears may result in infection, which is not only painful but can also cause hearing loss. Infection can be identified by recognizing signs such as redness, scratching, head shaking and odor.

You should check your pet's ears twice a month. The skin of the ears must be pale pink in color. If you notice a foul odor or change in color, take your pet to a veterinarian.

Use moist cotton balls with lukewarm water or mineral oil to clean the ears.

Cleaning of your pet's teeth is another important aspect of grooming. Your pet may get cavities in his or her teeth that can develop into periodontal disease. Clean your pet's teeth twice a week with a soft, small pet toothbrush.

Bathe your pet at least once a month or as required. In order to remove all the matting from your pet's coat, brush your pet before and after each bath.

Place a rubber mat or a small towel in a bathtub so that it is not slippery for your pet. Use cotton balls to prevent water from going into your pet's ears, and use warm water to bathe your pet in. You can use a spray nozzle, but be sure that you keep the nozzle close to your pet's body when spraying, and do not spray your pet in the face.

Use shampoo that is made specifically for pets. Use a small quantity, and wash from head to the tail. Clean the rectum, between the toes, backside of the ears and under the chin. After washing, rinse your pet thoroughly with warm water, and then dry with a drier, or pat dry with a towel.

It is important that you regularly give proper attention towards the grooming of your pet. It will keep your pet healthy and active, both physically and psychologically. <bio>Article by Stefan Rockhaus.
Steam cleaners are machines that clean surfaces using steam or hot water. Steam cleaners are usually used to kill allergens, dust mites, bacteria, mold, fungus etc on the surface being cleaned. Steam cleaners are used in hospitals, hotels, bakeries, restaurants, pharmacies, etc. Household steam cleaners are used to cleanse kitchens, bathrooms, carpets etc. Steam cleaners can be used to clean almost any surface like floors, curtains, furniture, and almost any surface which is heat resistant. There are two types of steam cleaners, traditional steam cleaners and vapor steam cleaners.

A traditional steam cleaner uses hot water to clean the surface. The traditional steam cleaner consists of a boiler, a collecting tank, a hose and brushes. Hot water is sprayed under pressure on the surface being cleaned. Then rotating brushes scrub the surface and the dirty water is suction extracted into the container. Some traditional steam cleaners also use cleaning agents to clean, while most rely on steam and brushes to do the job. Cleaning agents help to remove spots and grime on the surface. The use of traditional steam cleaners is usually restricted to floors only.

A vapor steam cleaner consists of a water container with a heater attachment (collectively known as boiler), a hose and a nozzle. Water is boiled in the container under pressure to produce super heated steam or dry steam. Dry steam is a steam which is heated to more than 100 degrees Celsius. This dry steam is then passed through a hose to the nozzle and onto the surface being cleaned under pressure. This loosens the dirt and grime on the surface being cleaned. Then a vacuum cleaner is used to clean the surface.

The steam generated in a vapor steam cleaner has very low moisture content, usually up to 5 percent. So when a surface is cleaned by steam it becomes dry within few minutes. They generally do not have continuous water supply hence are more convenient to use. Vapor steam cleaners can be used to clean any heat resistant surface like vehicle interiors, windows, bathrooms, etc with proper attachments. Vapor steam cleaners are generally used by people suffering from allergies or who do not want cleaning by chemicals.

There are specialized steam cleaners for carpets called carpet cleaners. They do not use steam but use hot water to clean the carpet. After wetting the carpet, the area is scrubbed with brushes and then the dirty water is sucked back into the receptacle. The carpet is left to dry. Switching on the Air Conditioner in a room dries the carpet quickly as it removes humidity from the air. Once the carpet is dry, it should be vacuumed to clean it thoroughly.

Steam cleaners can have an independent water container or continuous water supply. Continuous water supply is more convenient as the tank need not be refilled repeatedly. The dirty water is expelled after cleaning.

There are many models available in the market. The cost ranges from $100 for residential models to $2000 for commercial models. Before buying the buyer should look for boiler capacity, the attachments, mobility, warranty, user manual, demo CDs etc. <bio>Tyson J Stevenson writes on a wide variety of "every day" subjects, always with valuable news and reviews.
Cleaning fences is a tedious work especially when lots of dirt and grime have accumulated on the posts. Wooden fences, in particular, are most often exposed to direct sunlight daily and may be filled with tree leaves, bird droppings, soil and other stains. So let's cut to the chase with some cleaning tips.

Power Washer Prep

First rent, borrow or buy an affordable pressure power washer. Search for these online, in the yellow pages and by calling around local hardware stores.

Note for beginners at this, while using one for cleaning fences, you should maintain certain distance from the pressure washer. And before you start cleaning, wet and cover all your plants and other outdoor things you want to keep safe and dry.

Ensure proper protection has been given to your eyes with protective eye wear. And ready a floor brush or rotating brush for cleaning the outer surfaces of your fence.

In the pressure washer unit, adjust the nozzle first. And then prepare the washing detergent according to the instructions given by the manufacturer.

Make sure the pressure washer states that it is able to effectively remove dust, oil etc. (some don't have as strong a spray, but most commercial types should).

Before cleaning your fence, read through the general instructions below first, printing them out for handy reference.

Note: For safety, ensure that there are no other electrical appliances nearby during use of your power washer.

Cleaning Your Fence with a Power Washer

If you have a wooden fence, then preserving the natural color of the wood is essential while cleaning. Over-application of detergents will spoil the natural color and life of the wood. So cleaning without disturbing the original color of the wood is essential.

Cleaning wooden fences include two steps. You have to clean the fencing and remove the stains from the posts and slats with household detergent and bleaching that will be effective to some extent. But for tough stains on wooden fences, you can use chemicals such as Tri sodium phosphate. (Check with your local hardware store for correct usage in your area).

Pressure washers can do a great job in cleaning wooden fences. But remember too much of pressure may cause breaking the wooden fence. So find a smaller machine with a wide fan to offer you greater benefit.

When you apply cleaner or brightener in wooden fence, rinse it thoroughly within 15 minutes. Otherwise the chemical can spoil your fence. Note that bleaching agents can reduce the natural color of your fence. Non bleaching agents can clean the fence without damaging the wood; they remove stains and dirt gently yet are environment friendly and do not harm your plants and lawn.

Applying cleaner and light pressure. Then rinse the fencing completely with the power washer. Note that heavy pressure may damage the fence.

Power Washing Tips

- Usually power washers come with various tips and adjustable nozzles. You should use the correct nozzle spray so that water from the machine will not damage the fence.

- You should not use hot water in your power washer for leaning fences.

- You should always keep the pressure washer at certain distance; otherwise, the close contact can leave strip marks, and your fence will look uneven.

- Ensure that all the mold spores have been completely removed from the fence. <bio>Visit, subscribe to and bookmark: http://myhomeimprovementtips.com for your home improvement projects!
Pantyhose were discovered by Allen Gant Senior and its first version appeared in 1959. Pantyhose are a combination of stockings and underpants. Needless to say, pantyhose emphasize the attractiveness of a woman. It makes legs look smooth, silky and extremely sexy. On the more human side, pantyhose make it easier to wear and take off shoes. It lends slenderness and shine to an otherwise blemished skin. During winter, pantyhose provide much needed warmth and coziness. The uniform pressure applied on all parts of the leg enhances blood circulation too.

Nylon is the preferred material used in the making of pantyhose. Importance is given to maintain a high degree of excellence in strength, elasticity and shine while manufacturing pantyhose. Weightlessness is another alluring feature of good pantyhose. And no compromises are made to see that the product is as durable as possible. Nylon is able to provide all these features besides being crease-free. Another material used as an alternative to nylon is spandex.

Denier is the unit with which the thickness of nylon is measured. The sheerness of pantyhose can vary from 3-80 deniers, a higher value denoting a thicker garment. The design of the pantyhose is normally the same with a few variations thrown in for elegance and style. Since most women are conscious of their protruding bellies, a broader elastic band is provided near the waist, in some pantyhose, to disguise this. The crotch is made of cotton to enhance comfort. The heel and toes are doubled in strength to avoid wear and tear and improve durability. Darker shades of pantyhose are normally preferred in winter.

Uses of pantyhose:

The uses of pantyhose are manifold. New pantyhose serve the purpose of giving confidence in the mind of the user. They make the wearer look alluring and seductive. They also provide warmth and comfort. But the utility of old pantyhose can be mind-boggling!

Old pantyhose can be used to clean up a fish-tank or a garden pond. A debris-skimmer can be created by folding a clothes hanger into a circle and covering it with pantyhose. All the debris can then be removed like magic!

Pantyhose are priceless as far as kitchen utility is concerned. They serve as wonderful scrubbers for utensils, especially non-stick ones. Pantyhose can be rolled into a ball to serve as a floor shiner. Wet flour can be prevented from sticking onto a rolling pin by covering it with a tube of pantyhose. A garbage liner can be secured with the help of the elastic band of the pantyhose.

A garden cannot do without pantyhose as well. Ripe onions and potatoes can be stored and tomato vines can be secured with pantyhose. Flower bulbs can be stored in the same way. Pots can be lined with pantyhose before being filled with mud and planted with houseplants. This will prevent the soil from being washed away.

A wonderful loofah can be crafted out of pantyhose by just cutting off the legs, filling the remainder with left-behind pieces of soap and then tying the ends. It can be placed beside the sink to wash hands regularly.

The best use of old pantyhose is perhaps to ferret out lost objects from the carpet. A leg from old pantyhose can be cut out and tied around the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner. In no time the lost object will be found sticking to the pantyhose in the nozzle!

Mothballs can be kept inside pantyhose to protect clothes in a closet. A similar variation can be done by using scent instead of mothballs.

Conclusion:

The uses of pantyhose are thus endless. Be it new or old, pantyhose is an accessory that no one can do without.<bio>Roberto Sedycias works as IT consultant for www.polomercantil.com.br</bio>

Ceramic tile has become a popular flooring choice for kitchens, bathrooms and even living areas in homes. It is a great durable material that will stand up to much abuse. It does however require some regular cleaning and maintenance to keep it in great shape. Read this article and learn a few tips to help you take care of your tile floors.

The most basic thing that you should do is mop your ceramic floor regularly with a good household detergent or floor cleaner. You want to do this often to prevent stains from sinking into your grout lines which is much harder to clean. Use the hottest water possible to allow the cleaning chemical to work at maximum efficiency. To mop, mix your water and then mop a thin layer over the entire floor. Let the solution dwell for a few minutes to loosen stuck on soil and food. Then mop the solution up, rinsing and wringing out your mop often. If you find that you have some stubborn spots you can use a soft brush to help you loosen them. Avoid using scouring pads or steel wool which could remove the finish from or scratch your tile. Once you have finished, rinse the floor with clean water. This will remove any detergent residue from the floor making it brighter and keeping it from re-soiling too quickly. If the grout lines are dirty you can clean them with a concentrated mixture of detergent followed by a good fresh water rinse. For tougher grout line stains consider using a home vapor steam cleaner to clean them. Get one with a nozzle that directs the steam into a thin stream.

As you can see it is very easy to care for tile floors. If you get to the point where you just can not clean them any longer you should consult a local carpet cleaner for an estimate on tile and grout cleaning. Sometimes it just takes a professional to do the job. <bio>Learn more about tile and grout cleaners at http://www.fortwaynecarpetcleaning.info . </bio>

The profile should start "starting from the edge and the major point of the dish should be 3/8", approximately 1-7/16" starting from the external edge. The bottom of the stick achieves the dish, thus to move in the two directions of the base to the stick is necessary to obtain the good profile (17). Before leaving the base, round above the edge. The round over of lower part is completely not very deep because of the cone.

The round over of top should be a profile liking it of the ends in a point on the face where the profile of dish started. A steam generator is added to produce steam which in tern heats the shower enclosure. Unlike a sauna a steam bath uses a lot of moisture in the air with a reduced temperature compared to a sauna. The beginning and end of a proper steam bath include a cleansing shower in the beginning and a cool down shower to end the steam bath.

A steam room is like a large sauna like you would see at a club or health spa again the steam room is heated by steam and uses a lower temperature than a sauna. You should limit yourself t 15 to 20 minute sessions and then cool down with a shower to close your pores. Many claims to health benefits have been claimed over the years and depending on who you listen to they include everything from eliminating stress to weight loss. I am not sure that I agree with any of these claims. I do know however after a steam bath I feel revitalized and ready to greet the fast paced world again.

Steam baths have become more popular in recent years as the ability to have one included with your shower unit is appealing as no additional space is required the addition of a steam generator is basically the only additional piece of equipment and the steam generator can be mounted out of site under a cabinet in the basement or attic all that is required is an electric hook up and a water supply. In the shower a steam nozzle and the controls are the only visible addition.

Be sure to check with your doctor before using a steam bath if you have any physical problems that could be affected by the increase blood flow or if you are pregnant. As with any type of exercise start out easy limit your use to a few minutes in the beginning and never use alcohol or any other drugs that could cause you to fall asleep or pass out.

Whether your planning on building a new home or are just remolding bathroom you may want to consider adding a steam bath not only will it add to the value of your home you will have the use of it with out taking up any additional floor space like a sauna or a spa also there is almost no additional maintenance unlike a spa. <bio>Chad Milhouse writes for http://www.steam-bath.net </bio>
