If you are not eligible for COBRA, HIPAA, insurance policy conversion, state continuation, Medicaid, Medicare, or any type of state-sponsored health care program, but are in need of affordable health insurance in New York, you may have to purchase an individual health insurance plan.

Most people groan at the thought of purchasing an individual health insurance plan -- and for good reason. Individual health insurance plans are usually more expensive than the ideal health care coverage -- employer-sponsored group health insurance plans. However, in New York, you can purchase an affordable individual health insurance plan for a couple of reasons.

First, when you set out to purchase an individual health insurance plan in New York, you can not be turned down due to your particular health conditions. This is great news because many people with pre-existing health conditions tend to have a difficult time finding health insurance companies that will sell health insurance to them. Health insurance companies view people with pre-existing or serious health conditions as higher risks to insure. They view them as potentially lost money. Yet, in New York, there are health insurance companies that will not turn you down regardless of any pre-existing health conditions you may have, or the severity of the health condition.

Second, you will not be charged a higher health insurance rate due to your pre-existing health condition, regardless of the severity of your pre-existing health condition. This is more great news, since people with pre-existing health conditions who do manage to purchase individual health insurance policies do so for a high price. They need health insurance, especially because they need care for their pre-existing health conditions; however, because of their pre-existing health conditions, they pay high prices.
Many people think by getting a "good job" they'll have a "good health benefits package." That is just not always the case. Sometimes we find our dream jobs -- great pay, weekends and holidays off, many opportunities to use our skills and advance -- only to find out our dream jobs do not offer employer-sponsored health insurance. So, we start looking for individual insurance policies to purchase, but just do not have the money left over after the bills are paid to pay the higher premiums.

It is a vicious cycle, but it can be stopped thanks to New York State's Family Health Plus. The Family Health Plus plan was created for adults between the ages of 19 and 64 who can't find affordable health insurance in New York. Maybe their employers don't offer group health insurance plans, or maybe they can't afford to purchase an individual health insurance plan on their own. These are the New Yorkers who are considered to have too much money or assets to qualify for Medicaid; at the same time, they make too little money to afford either out-of-pocket health care costs or individual health insurance plans.

The great thing about New York State's Family Health Plus plan is that you don't have to have children in order to be eligible. Single adults as well as married couples without children are eligible for the Family Health Plus plan.

Plus, it costs nothing to apply for and enroll in the Family Health Plus plan, nor will you be required to pay deductibles. You will, however, need to pay co-payments at the time of medical treatment.

The Family Health Plus plan offers coverage for, but not limited to, doctor visits, in and out patient care, emergency room visits, vision care, diabetic services, behavioral health services, and even family planning.

For more information about this affordable health insurance in New York, contact the New York State Department of Health. <bio>http://www.ezquoteguide.com/health/ http://www.ezquoteguide.com/car/ http://www.ezquoteguide.com/home/ </bio>

As in most other states, long term care insurance can be a complicated and costly undertaking. New York is one of the most expensive parts of the country anyway - in the state of New York, long term care in a nursing home typically costs around $71,000 per year -- even more in New York City.

Long term care insurance is issued and sold on both a group basis and for individuals in the state of New York. Group policies are offered to members of organizations or associations as well as employees and may have their own unique regulations.

There are basically four different types of long term care insurance policies available in New York: long term care insurance; nursing and home care insurance combined; nursing home insurance only; and home care insurance only. Long term care insurance generally offers the widest range of options and features.

New York also offers a partnership for long term care, an initiative devised in 1993 aimed at encouraging more people to purchase long term care insurance. Under the terms of the partnership, members may qualify for Medicaid extended coverage, if they have satisfied the duration requirements of the policy. This plan also helps to protect the assets of people applying under the program.

There are certain other rules concerning long term care policies in New York. All policies are renewable by law as long as the policy holder pays the premiums -- and regardless of poor health. And the amount of your premium cannot be increased unless the increase is approved by the state insurance department.

As in other parts of the country, tax implications can be a big consideration when purchasing long term care insurance. The state passed a law in 1997 that offers tax advantages for premiums paid for certain qualifying policies. In 2004, additional legislation increased the tax credit to 20% for long term care insurance premiums.

Finally, shop around if you are thinking of taking out long term care insurance. A good place to start is at HIICAP -- the state's excellent Health Insurance Information, Counseling and Assistance Program. <bio>http://www.myquoteguide.com/Car-Tips.shtml http://www.ezquoteguide.com/home http://www.ezquoteguide.com/health </bio>

If you're like many New Yorkers, you probably take an employer's affordable group health insurance benefits into consideration before you decide whether or not to begin a new job. Sure, it's most likely not the deciding factor, but it in all probability it plays some role in your decision-making process. After all, New York employer-sponsored group health insurance plans are generally the most affordable way to get health care, and we all know how expensive health care and individual health insurance plans can be these days.

Even though it's a great way to keep employees healthy and happy, not all employers offer New York group health insurance benefits to their employees; more so, they're not required to. What should you do if you really want or need the job in front of you, even though it doesn't offer employee medical benefits?

You should look into Healthy NY. Healthy NY is a health insurance program for working individuals, self-employed folks, and small business owners in New York. Of course, like many health coverage plans, each group of eligible persons has a set of requirements to meet.

For example, working individuals and self-employed people are eligible for affordable health insurance for New Yorkers as long as they are currently employed or were within the last 12 months and have no access to employer-sponsored group health insurance benefits. Changes in employment and COBRA benefits qualify New Yorkers for Healthy NY, as do separation or divorce and family deaths.

New York small business owners can enroll in Healthy NY, too, as long as there are less than 50 employees and 30 percent of them make less than $35,000 a year. Small business owners who take advantage of this New York affordable health insurance can reap tax deductions, too.

For more information about Healthy NY, or about any other kind of affordable health insurance for New Yorkers, contact the New York State Department of Insurance. <bio>http://ezquoteguide.com/health See This Site For Great Affordable Health Insurance for New Yorkers http://www.ezquoteguide.com/health-major.shtml Major Medical Insurance That Will Help You Save </bio>

How can I get affordable health insurance if I'm unemployed?

There are many ways you can obtain affordable health insurance, even after you've become unemployed. Check into COBRA, converting your former group health insurance plan into an individual health insurance plan, or a state continuation plan in which you can continue being covered under your previous group health insurance plan for a certain period of time.

What if my last job didn't offer health insurance?

There are a few reasons why some employers don't offer health care benefits. Since employers aren't legally required to offer health insurance, not all do. Plus, if you work part-time, you usually aren't eligible for your employer's health benefits package.

If your last job did not offer health insurance benefits, you most likely won't be eligible for assistance such as COBRA, conversion, or state continuation. You can, however, contact your state's department of insurance to find information about any affordable health insurance plans they offer for unemployed individuals. You may also want to ask about your eligibility for state-sponsored health care, as well as Medicaid.

Are there options for unemployed people to get help with prescription medications?

Yes. Many companies that make and distribute prescription medications have special programs to assist those people who need prescription medicine but can not afford it otherwise. If you know your particular prescription medication company, contact them for more information. If you don't know, contact your state's department of insurance for help.

How can I find affordable health coverage for my children?

It is important your children keep continuous health insurance coverage. If you're able to take advantage of COBRA, conversion, or state continuation, be sure to do so. If not, make sure you ask your state's department of insurance specifically about state health care programs for your children. Depending on your income and assets, you may be eligible for free, or very low-cost, health insurance for you children. <bio>http://www.ezquoteguide.com/health/ http://www.myquoteguide.com/car-full.shtml </bio>

Wrong. Many employees of small businesses in New York are not offered low cost health insurance through their employers. This is not beneficial to the employers or the employees, since many people choose their jobs based somewhat on the benefits they will receive.

If you live in New York and work for a business whose owner thinks it is "too small" to offer health insurance, you may be in luck. In 2000, the governor of New York proposed to a comprehensive insurance coverage plan to be made available to New York employees and their families if they do not have health insurance. The New York Legislature ratified the proposal, and the program became known as Healthy NY.

According to Healthy NY, a "small business" is one that has 50 or fewer employees. When a small business has this number of employees, the business feels as if it can not afford to offer low cost health insurance to its employees; however, thanks to Healthy NY, all small businesses can take advantage of offering low cost health insurance to its employees.

The even better news is that you do not have to be an employee of a small business to purchase low cost health insurance through Healthy NY. Sole proprietors may also purchase low cost health insurance through Healthy NY.

If you work for a small business in New York that does not offer health insurance because it feels as if it can not afford to, talk to your employer about Healthy NY. Not only with Healthy NY benefit the employees of the business, but being able to offer low cost health insurance to employees will also help your employer because he or she will be able to attract and retain quality employees. <bio>http://ezquoteguide.com/health/ Low Cost Health Insurance in New York http://www.myquoteguide.com/Best-Health.shtml Health Insurance Quotes </bio>

Every kind of insurance sold in Alabama is regulated by Alabama's Department of Insurance. This means if you are having trouble finding affordable health insurance in Alabama, you can contact the Department of Insurance for assistance. The Alabama Department of Insurance can give you specific information about health insurance for adults such as the Alabama Health Insurance Plan, for children such as Allkids, and for seniors, including Medicare and Medicaid. The Alabama State Health Insurance Assistance Program, also known as SHIP, provides information about Medicare, while the Alabama Medicaid Agency can help you obtain affordable Alabama health insurance if you meet certain qualifications.

If you obtain your health insurance through your employer in the form of an employer-sponsored group health plan, your health insurance is also regulated by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration, or the EBSA. While the EBSA may not be able to help you find Alabama affordable health insurance, they can help you with any situations you may have with your current health insurance plan. Such situations may include:

• Not being offered Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, also known as COBRA, continuation health care coverage even though you believe you were eligible

• Feeling that your health insurance plan was terminated on unjust grounds

• Having general concerns about the way your employer handles the group health insurance plan offered to his or her employees

Both the Alabama Department of Insurance and the Employee Benefits Security Administration will be able to help you if you have any questions or concerns about your COBRA continuation health care coverage, as well as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, also known as HIPAA.

You can shop for affordable health insurance online, but to ensure you are getting Alabama-specific information and coverage, your first stop should be the Alabama's Department of Insurance or the U.S. Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration, depending on your situation. <bio>http://www.ezquoteguide.com/health/ http://www.ezquoteguide.com/car-new-jersey.shtml </bio>

When selecting affordable California health insurance online =96 or in any state, for that matter =96 you must be cautious. Other than the information provided on the website database you search, you're basically taking care of everything yourself. Sure, you can contact, or may be contacted by, a live health insurance agent from the company, but until then your decision-making process may be a blind one unless you enter into it prepared.

Your Eligibility

Before you begin searching for affordable California health insurance online, find out if you're eligible for employer-sponsored group health insurance or COBRA. Also check out the following California-based health insurance programs: Access for Infants, CalWorks, Family Medical Leave Act, Healthy Families, and Medi-Cal. You can find information about these state-sponsored health insurance programs when you visit the California Department of Insurance website.

Your Search

As you're searching for affordable California health insurance online, make sure you fully understand the difference between a health insurance policy and a health discount plan. Health discount plans, or medical discount plans, provide discounts for health care. The discount plan usually has a network of doctors and other health care professionals from which you can choose. If you see a doctor who doesn't participate in the discount plan, you're stuck paying the full price.

Always read the fine print to know what you're getting into. Before you select affordable health insurance in California, make sure it's actually insurance and not a medical discount plan.

Your Aid

The California Department of Insurance has a very informative website available to all consumers. The site outlines the different kinds of health insurance available, including those that are state-sponsored, and even provides a health plan comparison tool. Utilize these free resources to help you select affordable California health insurance online.

Remember, you can also use the California Department of Insurance website to file complaints regarding unsettled insurance claims and other such problems with your health insurance company. <bio>http://ezquoteguide.com/health/ Affordable California Health Insurance Online http://www.myquoteguide.com/Best-Health.shtml Lowest Rate Health Insurance With Good Coverage </bio>

As the largest school district in the nation, with over a million students, the New York City Public Schools face a mammoth task. In some ways New York City Schools are at an advantage because New York State has required the stringent Regents exam as a requirement for graduation for years. That doesn't mean that everyone in the New York City Schools is fond of the mandatory tests, but it has put the city and state at an advantage as far as meeting some of the No Child Left Behind Act's Standards. At least teachers and administrators of the New York City Schools already had some tight standards in place.

Teachers in New York City Schools need to have or obtain a Master's Degree to teach. While the New York City Schools are in need of teachers, just like the rest of the nation, the standards that they hold their teachers to and the pay are among the highest in the country. That's not to say the New York City Schools don't have problems- they do. But the New York City Schools do have a sound foundation for hiring teachers.

Diversity of New York City Schools

For anyone who hasn't visited the Big Apple, it's not easy to explain the different worlds that exist in one city. It's like the difference between the hustle and busy of New York City and the rural feel of the rest of New York State- different worlds. For teachers in New York City it means that where you teach can make all the difference in the world. New York City school teachers in Harlem will have an inner-city experience, while New York City school teachers in Long Island may have a more suburban teaching experience.

Issues for New York City Schools

The size of New York City Schools and classrooms is an issue that has haunted teachers for years. Most teachers agree that smaller class sizes are more effective for creating learning environments. Some students and teachers in about 50 New York City Schools have moved into smaller sized school buildings. Teachers in New York City Schools say that smaller school sizes create a more intimate setting, better parent-teacher relationships, and higher student achievement. Teachers also have a better chance of individualizing instruction when there are fewer students in a classroom. While the small schools initiative was mainly targeted at school size, teachers try to address class size as well.

Teacher turnover has been an issue in many, usually poorer, New York City Schools. Coming up with ways to keep teachers happy in these at-risk areas continues to be a challenge. Tenured teachers often leave these for "better" schools. And turnover itself creates issues. The teachers in the New York City Schools have a tough job by anyone's standards. And as the country looks for solutions to public education, New York City Schools will continue to be watched closely. <bio>Patricia Hawke is a staff writer for Schools K-12, providing free, in-depth reports on all U.S. public and private K-12 schools. When this is the case, many of us opt not to purchase health insurance for ourselves. We rationalize not purchasing health insurance by telling ourselves there are mouths to feed, bodies to clothe, and other bills to be paid.

Denying ourselves health insurance is not wise; however, denying our kids health insurance is even worse. Kids' health needs even more attention than our health. For example, kids need immunizations to help them ward off infections and diseases and grow healthy and strong. Kids need special attention to help them learn to practice good dental care habits and nutritional ways of life. Plus, a bout of the flu, which usually means lots of rest and chicken soup for adults, could be much more serious for kids.

Do, how can we find affordable health insurance for our kids =96 especially if we can not seem to afford it for ourselves?

The best option is to contact our state's department of insurance. Many states in America provide at least one kind of state-sponsored health care program for individuals who can't otherwise find affordable health insurance. Even better news is that most states in America provide kid-specific state-sponsored health care programs for kids with parents who can't otherwise find affordable health insurance for them.

Health care provided by state-sponsored affordable health insurance for kids includes all or any combination of the following: regular check-ups and hospital visits, immunizations, X-rays, lab work, prescription medications, and even dental care.

There may be days when obtaining affordable health insurance for yourself seems impossible, but finding kids affordable health insurance is always possible. Just pick up the phone and call your state's department of insurance. Or, check their Web sites for more information. Find affordable health insurance for your kids; make sure they grow up safe, healthy, and happy. <bio>shttp://ezquoteguide.com/health/ Kids Affordable Health Insurance http://ezquoteguide.com/health-ohio.shtml Affordable Insurance Plans in Ohio </bio>

Family Health Care

Now that my daughter is getting older I am becoming more and more concerned about family health care. When she was a baby I would have to pay for her shots and her doctor's visits with cash. Though I realized that if something horrible were to happen I would have to pay for everything out of pocket. Now to she's getting older I want to take care of her health coverage. This means I have to worry about having a comprehensive coverage package that includes our entire family.

For my family, this wouldn't be such a problem if it were not for some unusual circumstances. My husband and I have a family health care plan through his employer. However, because my daughter is actually my niece, and we have yet to officially adopt her, she is not allowed to be on our health care plan. We are now in the process of adopting her, but until then, my family health-care costs must come out of my own pocket. As she near school age, this begins to concern me more and more.

New York State does have a family health-care plan. If you live in New York you have probably seen the commercials for this. Though the commercials say that their family health-care plan is simple and easy, I have to say that I disagree. I have gone to the application process numerous times for my daughter, only to find her coverage canceled for stupid reasons.

One time they got my address wrong, and her insurance cards were returned to sender. When this happened, they canceled her insurance policy without trying to contact me and another time they lost my payment, and her insurance was canceled with no notification.

Until we can get our family health care problems under control, I can only continue to hope and pray that everything remains as it is. We have been blessed with a very healthy child, and her medical expenses thus far have not been very bad. I don't think that I will completely be able to relax about the situation until we have her adopted and she can then be added to my husband's employers family health care plan.

Though I never wish anything to happen to anyone, you can only sleep better at night when you know everyone in your household is covered. I cannot rely on the State of New York any longer. <bio>Ann Merier writes articles about the home and family health.Article topics include mothers day, diabetes, detox diet, yoga, pilates exercise http://ultimatehealthinfo.com http://losingweight.ultimatehealthinfo.com/ http://skincare.ultimatehealthinfo.com/ </bio>

New York State is a no-fault state in terms of car insurance coverage. Simply put, this means your car insurance policy will cover you, and the other guy's car insurance policy will cover him, regardless of who was at fault for the damages.

You can purchase New York's minimum car insurance requirements just the same as you would in any other state in America; however, New York's minimum car insurance coverage requirements are a bit more in-depth as far as coverage goes, and pricier as far as costs go.

The minimum car insurance coverage in New York is as follows:

$10,000: Property damage liability $50,000: Basic, no-fault coverage

Bodily injury liability: For injury, $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident. For death, $50,000 per person, and $100,000 per accident.

Uninsured motorist's coverage: For injury, $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident. For death, $50,000 per person, and $100,000 per accident.

Of course, if you don't own your car out-right, i.e., you borrowed money from a lender to help pay for it, you may have to purchase more car insurance than the minimum.

Despite the high costs of the minimum car insurance requirements, it is possible to get cheap car insurance in New York. Shop around with a few NY car insurance companies (remember, drivers in New York must purchase car insurance from a company licensed to do business in New York) and ask about what kinds of discounts they offer. Some discounts are pretty standard, such as those for good students and multi-line policies; other discounts may be unique to that particular car insurance company.

You may also make changes on your own to your car. Make sure it is up-to-date with safety features such as anti-theft alarm systems and reinforced window. Child-proof locks aren't only safe, but impressive to car insurance companies. And instead of leaving your car in the side of the street, store it in a garage. <bio>http://www.ezquoteguide.com/car/ http://www.myquoteguide.com/car-teen.shtml </bio>

New York is bar none one of the most multifaceted and dynamic states in all of the country. From Manhattan to Long Island to Upstate, New York has an appeal that is unique and unmatched by any of the other 49 states.

The truth is that it truly can be said that the heart of America's economic, cultural and entertainment scene really is New York, particularly New York City. Properly christened the "City that Never Sleeps," the exciting pace of New York City is powerful. The commercial activity of the nation intimately is tied into the Big Apple, including Wall Street and the other districts in the city in which major corporations are headquartered and in which powerful financial and economic decisions are made day in and day out.

Beyond the financial markets and the like, NYC is also a cultural capstone of the country ... indeed the world. NYC is home to incomparable museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and its stellar collections. Live entertainment is a paramount attribute of life in The City. From Broadway to the Met, New York City offers the most comprehensive set of venues for live performances of all types to be found anywhere on the planet.

Shopping, dining and recreational opportunities round out the entire Big Apple experience for residents and visitors alike. From tony bistros to laid back delis, the dining options in NYC abound. No matter what your favorite food might happen to be, you will find it with ease in The City.

Despite all that can be said about New York City, there is much more to discover when it comes to the State of New York than what one sees in the Big Apple itself. Indeed, there are many other shining communities in the state that are keenly attractive and vibrant. The reality is that a good part of the state consists of rural communities with a pleasing hometown feel. Upstate New York is one of the loveliest and most cozy regions to be found anywhere in the country.

The State of New York consistently remains on the vanguard of the latest technology, including high-tech developments in the healthcare and medical arena. As a consequence, the residents of the state have the ability to take advantage of such diagnostic tools as the body scan and the heart scan. In recent times the body scan and the heart scan, as well as some other types of high-tech scanning procedures, have proven instrumental in battling disease and a variety of different types of health problems and disorders.

The New York state medical establishment is well in tune with the body scan and heart scan as well as other scanning procedures. Therefore, these diagnostic procedures are expected to be in even more broadly available in New York over the course of the coming decade. Moreover, with the significant number of medical research centers located in New York, these technologies are expected to improve in the near future as well to drastically increase the number of patients and care. <bio>Visit http://www.Newyorkscan.com for more information on preventative scanning or to find a local scan center. </bio>

New York is world famous and really needs no introduction. The state is home to the Hamptons, Broadway, and 42nd Street, as well as many historical sites including the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Empire State Building. New York State has a population well above 18,976,000 and is one of the world's premiere hubs for the arts, entertainment and theatre. The New York art scene alone has influenced aspiring artists from all over the world; in addition the state is one of the major releasing areas for Hollywood and indie films alike. The size and volume of tourists visiting the state each year is staggering.

New York Casinos are part of the excitement that is New York. There are a good number of Native American-owned New York Casinos, ranging from "table-games-only" Class Three style operations to the New York Casinos, which offer high stakes poker, video bingo and other types of gaming. You can find New York Casinos in many different areas; Irving, Seneca Falls, Union Springs, Hogansburg and Salamanca just to name a few. Many New York Casinos are planning expanded offerings in the electronic gambling arena as state legislation allows. Don't be discouraged if your first visit to New York Casinos doesn't offer your favorite game, it could be just a matter of time before that favorite is a regular attraction!

In addition to the land-based casinos, New York has casino boat gaming. This operation entails getting a ride on a boat which travels three miles into international waters. This is where all sorts of varieties of gambling is allowed, gambling which may not be permitted in shore-based New York Casinos. On your boat ride you may encounter blackjack, craps, video poker, roulette, Caribbean stud poker, let it ride, and slot machines. The advantage to boat-based gambling includes a great scenic ride to accompany the thrills of playing casino games. A buffet is often included in the service, but let the rider beware. You must be twenty-one years of age or older to play casino games on the boat. Tickets are quite reasonable, often around fifteen dollars to ride.

New York Casinos offer an interesting diversion many people forget to consider in their travel plans. When you plan your next excursion to New York, search online for the nearest New York Casinos on your route and give them a try. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much fun such an outing can be! Remember to plan your trip to New York Casinos carefully. Make a budget and stick to it, gamble responsibly and above all, have fun. <bio>This article is the property of http://www.new-york-casinos.com Before you use my article(s), you must agree to my Terms of Service http://www.incomekey.com/terms_of_service.html </bio>
