You have heard about VOIP, but you have no idea what it is. Is this just another telephone carrier that has come along since the breakup of ATandT many years ago? Well, that is part of it, but this is another step further along as this system directly relies on the internet.

So, what is VOIP? It is Voice over Internet Protocol, a way of routing voice conversations using the internet or any other IP-based system as you continue using a regular telephone instrument. Okay, but how does it work? Can you be working on your computer and talk at the same time? Is there special equipment you need?

There are several companies that provide VOIP service. There is a cost savings because you have a single network to do everything-it carries both voice and data and on the same internet lines. If you have the right company that can carry both the voice and data lines together, there might be no additional cost to combine these two features.

The VOIP telephone system can help by automatically routing incoming telephone calls to your VOIP phone, regardless of whether or not you are connected to the network. You can take you phone with you on a trip and whenever you connect to the Internet you can accept incoming calls.

You can get free telephone numbers for use in some countries. People using this system can work anywhere as long as there is a sufficiently fast and stable Internet connection available to them. Like your other telephone system, you can usually get 3-way calling, call forwarding, automatic redial, and even caller ID.

So, is this system right for you? There are definitely advantages and as with all systems, some disadvantages. How do you choose? That depends and you should do some extensive research to make sure that the VOIP telephone system will work for you.

Well, you might actually be using a VOIP system at your office and not know it. The VOIP telephone systems have offered businesses high-powered telecommunications capabilities once available only to the largest, most expensive companies' systems.

Today, advanced VOIP solutions enable all employees, whether they are down the hall or a thousand miles away, to respond rapidly to customers and business opportunities by allowing their phones and computers to integrate into one seamless system.

Check with your telecommunications people in your organization as they can tell you whether or not you are already using the system through work. They will also be very knowledgeable about the positive and negative components of the VOIP system and will probably be able and willing to talk to you extensively about their experiences with it. Remember, they are the people in your organization that must keep the computers and telephones up and operational for the company.

So, what do you think? Do you want to take the plunge and try the VOIP telephone system? Go ahead and take a chance if you think it will work for you. If it does not, you can always change back to a regular telephone. <bio>For more VOIP information please visit http://www.VOIPtransmission.com - a popular VOIP website that provides tips, advice and VOIP resources.
The "Voice Over Internet Protocol" telephone system is one of the modes of telecommunication via internet. The abbreviated form of "Voice Over Internet Protocol" is VOIP. It is a form of advanced computer technology that has affected the telephone systems.

Voice Over Internet Protocol

Actually, there are three different types of VOIP services. The most commonly used service for business purposes is the VOIP service processed by using an "Analog Telephone Adapter" which is also known as ATA. It is the simplest type of VOIP service as ATA permits the use of a standard phone and it does not require any specifically designed IP phones that are generally used in other types of VOIP services.

ATA functions by transforming the analog signals into a set of digital packets. These packets are forwarded to the broadband internet connection and are apportioned to the apt and appropriate telephone exchange for the call to get completed.

How The Use Of VOIP Phones Is Advantageous In Business

The VOIP telephone service has been gaining popularity tremendously, especially, in the field of businesses. The VOIP service providers permit the utilization of standard telephones which enables to make phone calls through a telephone connected to a landline telephone system.

The VOIP system is inexpensive as the making of calls by using this system does not require any setting of phone lines and even the charges of calls are very cheap. This feature of cheap call rates is very much beneficial for the business people who are managing their businesses at international levels. It is the most efficient method of telephone system.

Difference Between VOIP Telephone System And Regular Telephone System

There are many people those who are bit confused between a VOIP telephone system and a regular telephone system. No doubt, the purpose of both the telephone systems is to make phone calls but the main difference lies in the manner they both work.

In a regular phone system, the analog audio signals are forwarded through fiber optics in the form of telephone lines to the traditional telephone companies and get converted into the voices. But in case of VOIP telephone system, the analog signals get converted into digital packets and are then forwarded to the broadband internet connection, which are then distributed to telephone exchange for the completion of a call.

How To Select Perfect VOIP system

There are numerous VOIP service providers in the competitive market but you should choose the best among them. The following tips can really assist you in finding the best service provider.

1 - Before planning to opt for a VOIP service provider, you should always survey the market thoroughly by going through the reviews and testimonials of the existing or old users. This will help in getting a comparative scenario in front of you and will help in taking a decision.

2 - You should always choose the VOIP service that provides all the services required by you. For example, a method to upgrade VOIP network without any additional equipment, cheap local and international call rates, etc.

3 - Enquire from the service providers about the features that they proffer if the phones and the analog adapters have to be taken along on business trips that is whether they provide wireless phones or handsets in such a case or not.

The Voice Over Internet Protocol telephone system has proved to be a great model in the telecommunication industry because of its unique features. <bio>For more VOIP information please visit http://www.voiptransmission.com - a popular VOIP website that provides tips, advice and VOIP resources.
The voice over internet protocol (VOIP) telephone system is a great model of how advances in one field of technology often go hand in hand with advancement in other areas. VOIP is an advancement made possible by computer technology that has directly affected phone systems, as well. While this type of phone system may seem foreign to many consumers, most people are aware of some type of VOIP provider, even if they don't know it. Lingo, SunRocket, and Vonage are three providers of VOIP services that are relatively well known among many consumers.

The difference between a VOIP telephone system and a regular telephone system can be confusing for many people. Traditional phone calls work by sending "analog audio signals" via fiber optics that is provided by a traditional telephone company. The fiber optics is basically a fancy description of telephone lines, while the "analog audio signals" becomes the voices that are exchanged during a conversation. This is how a traditional telephone call works, whether it is over a land based line, or a cellular phone.

The way that VOIP works is that instead of using a system of "analog audio signals" to transmit voices, the VOIP system uses a method that causes it to switch data packets to different channels, depending on which one is the most open at the time. So unlike a regular phone system that has to have a dedicated channel to make or receive calls, a VOIP system can make use of any channel that happens to be open at the time the call is made. For many individuals, as well as many businesses, a VOIP system is cheaper because the method of making calls doesn't require payment for set lines or an expensive per minute long distance rate.

VOIP saves the most money for individuals who tend to make a lot of long distance calls. The reason for this is that long distance calls with a regular telephone plan have a per minute charge, while that is not true with VOIP phones.

This can make this type of telephone system valuable not only for a family, but also for more and more businesses who are switching over to this system not only because it saves money, but for many types of phone calls the VOIP system is more efficient.

The main concern many people have when considering switching to a VOIP telephone system is that most people think of VOIP as solely computer to computer. This is one type of VOIP phone system, but it is not the only one!

There are phones that are basically ordinary telephones, they simply connect to a computer that's on instead of getting plugged into a wall. There are also "Wi-Fi" phones, which work like cellular phones but use Internet and wireless hot spots instead of cell phone towers to connect calls.

VOIP telephone system technology is not perfect by any means, but it is highly effective and like all technologies, as it becomes increasingly popular with both homes and businesses the features and service will continue to improve as the new improved phone system replaces the old. <bio>For more VOIP information please visit http://www.VOIPtransmission.com - a popular VOIP website that provides tips, advice and VOIP resources.
So what do you need in the way of VOIP equipment? The answer is not too much. An essential part of VOIP system is a broadband connection, which we call a high speed internet connection. This is required for anyone who is using or wanting to use a VOIP system in their home or office. The connection can be found through a cable modem, or a high speed service such as DSL.

You can either hook a phone up to your personal computer or you can connect a phone through the telephone adaptor. The telephone adapter is about the size of a wallet and is the go between connecting the telephone and the computer. It can turn the analog signal from the telephone into digital data that can be sent over the Internet.

One of the advantages is that digital phone offers many additional features that a traditional phone is not equipped to offer. If you have a broadband internet connection, there is no need to pay the additional cost for another telephone line just to make phone calls.

A second advantage is that you can talk to people around the world for as long as you want if they have an Internet connection. Also you can talk with multiple people at the same time without any additional cost. Lastly, a third advantage to switching to a VOIP provider is it may significantly decrease the cost of your monthly telephone bill.

The overall quality and reliability of your VOIP equipment and telephone communications are completely reliant upon the quality, reliability and speed of the Internet connection that it uses. If your Internet service or electricity goes down for any reason, so does your telephone service. A major shortcoming with this system-you will be unable to communicate with anyone if this happens.

There is a way to avoid this problem by having a battery back up similar to an uninterruptible power supply, or you can set up your VOIP system in advance to automatically send all telephone calls to your cell phone in the event of a power failure. It may be necessary to keep your traditional analog voice line (your old fashion telephone that you currently have) or a cell phone just in case you need to make a telephone call during an emergency.

The VOIP equipment is basically the telephone, telephone adapter, phone jack, DSL or cable modem and your computer. You probably have most of these items in your home already and it will not take too much effort or cost on your part to make the switch to VOIP.

The bottom line is whether or not you want this new technology in your home and whether or not you need it. If you are a real computer person and want to have the latest and greatest technology at your fingertips, the VOIP equipment will get your started. All you have to do is find a service provider and to get the extra equipment needed to connect yourself and to start talking over the internet. <bio>For more VOIP information please visit http://www.voiptransmission.com - a popular VOIP website that provides tips, advice and VOIP resources.
The telephone is probably the most important and the most used method of communication today. All over the world, telephones are being used extensively, whether in homes or in offices. When it comes to office phone systems, the system is particularly designed so that any number of users can use and share the same telephone lines, rather than having to use individual phones. Telephone systems like these are specifically designed for use by several people in a single location, like companies and large offices. Using these types of phone systems can mean lesser expenses for businesses, since it is proven to be more cost-effective than using regular telephone systems.

PBX =96 The PBX telephone system, or Private Branch Exchange, are phone systems which are designed specifically for corporate use in offices. The main purpose of a private branch exchange system is to create a private communication network among all those who use and share the external telephone lines. PBX systems are ideal for large and medium-sized companies and businesses. What makes this phone system cost-effective is that users can now share a few external phone lines, as compared to having all individual users having their own external lines.

Using a PBX phone system allows a person to communicate with another user on the telephone network by just dialing a 3 or 4 digit extension number. Plus, PBX systems also have additional features like voicemail, reminders, screen displays, and options to screen all calls. PBX phone services for offices may also include automated answering services, auto-generated messages for callers, and live call transferring.

Automated Attendants =96 The Automated Attendant is an accessory used in most office phone systems for answering phone calls by way of automatically generating electronic messages. Using this accessory or tool, callers will be allowed to route themselves within the phone system through a series of menu prompts. Office voice mail systems are usually equipped with a basic automated attendant system.

Automated Call Distributor =96 Another phone accessory commonly used in office phone systems is the Automated Call Distributor or ACD. This accessory provides an efficient way of routing all incoming calls between programmed extension numbers. The most common locations for Automated Call Distribution systems are call centers, or any other office or location that has to process several incoming calls all at the same time.

Computer Telephony Integration =96 The CTI, or Computer Telephony Integration tool, is used for connecting an existing phone system to a computer, or computer network. Important information is automatically retrieved from incoming calls, routed to the computers, where the data is processed for practical business purposes. There is another tool called the Key System Unit, or KSU, which contains useful features like call forwarding, extension dialing, and options for using voice mail. VOIP systems, or Voice Over Internet Protocol, allows users to communicate with other VOIP systems and use digital data through the Internet.

These office telephone systems are incorporated into the standard system of analog telephones, fax machines, cordless and cellular phones, using a traditional telephone network, and they also have the option of communicating through the Internet using VOIP. <bio>Azlan Irda is a co-founder of http://www.phonesystemdept.com, where you can get telephone system equipment at the best prices.
VOIP telephone is a form of latest technology which has proved to be a successful mode of telecommunication. The main equipment required in its operation is a "Broadband Internet Connection" along with telephone, telephone adaptor, phone jack, DSL or cable modem, and a computer. Broadband internet connection is a net connection possessing high speed.

Role Of Broadband Internet Connection In VOIP Phone Services

Broadband internet connection plays a significant role in the functioning of VOIP phones. One can easily have this net connection by using a cable modem or a high speed service like DSL. In setting VOIP connection, the phone is connected directly to the computer system or through telephone adaptor. The main purpose of this connection is to transform the analog signal into distributed digital data which is then forwarded to the broadband internet connection to complete a call.

The Advantages Of VOIP Equipment

The overall performance in terms of quality and reliability of VOIP telephone system is totally dependent upon features of the broadband internet connection like its quality, reliability, and speed. The three main advantages of using VOIP equipment are mentioned below:

1 - By having a broadband internet connection, you can easily save your money by not purchasing another telephone in order to make phone calls so you can use your traditional phone for having a complete VOIP telephone system.

2 - By having a broadband internet connection, you can easily talk to the people all around the globe and you can even chat with many people at the same time without any extra expense if they also possess a net connection.

3 - The use of VOIP phone system has helped a lot in having a control over the monthly telephone expenses hence it is helping a lot economically.

Disadvantages Of the VOIP Phone System

Though, the VOIP phone system possesses numerous advantages, but it also possesses a darker side. If the internet connection or the power supply gets cut off then the whole system of VOIP goes down. Because of this break down, the complete communication through the VOIP system also gets collapsed. This problem can be rectified by having a battery back up which should be similar to an uninterruptible power supply or UPS.

There is another option to tackle the situation of a break down by making a setting of VOIP system in such a manner that it will automatically forward the phone calls to the cell phone if a sudden break down takes place. But this option has to be worked upon in advance.

Various Types Of VOIP Equipment

The whole VOIP telephone system is composed of various VOIP equipments that are mentioned below:

1 - Computer: To have a set up of VOIP telephone system, you should possess a computer which should be compatible to a broadband internet connection because the results in terms of quality will not be superb if you opt for a dial up internet connection.

2 - Sound Card: The next most important thing that should be there to have a VOIP phone system is the presence of sound card in your computer in order to have voice clarity while hearing. You can also replace the use of sound card by using an IP phone or phone adapter. A microphone will also be needed for dialing and talking purpose.

3 - VOIP Provider: You should download the software from internet that allows the services of VOIP phones. It is always recommended to download the software of the reputated company. The installation of the software is also a very easy task.

4 - Adapter: It permits the connection of a regular phone to your computer.

Therefore, VOIP phone system has proved to be a gift of technology and has helped a lot of people in business. <bio>For more VOIP information please visit http://www.voiptransmission.com - a popular VOIP website that provides tips, advice and VOIP resources.
VoIP technology is a one way of sending a voice signal also known as an analog signal in a medium which is digital, i.e, the internet. In practice, the process works like this when you have a standard analog telephone attached to your high speed internet connection with VoIP service. There will be an analog telephone adapter or ATA between the phone and the computer.

In order to place what would normally be a long distance call to a person who doesn't have VoIP service you key in the number you want. The analog telephone adapter converts the touch tones into a digital format. The digital phone number is sent by the analog telephone adapter to the VoIP routing system at the service provider's location. The VoIP service provider is located on the internet as well.

The VoIP service provider's routing system identifies the recipient's location and sends the call to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PTSN) at that location. The phone rings at the other end and the conversation can begin. Each time you speak, the analog to digital converter in the analog telephone adapter changes the voice tones into packets of digital information that can be transmitted across the internet. When the VoIP service meshes with the Public Switched Telephone Network at the recipient's end, the digital packets which are the voice tones from you get turned back into an analog signal so that you recipient of your call can understand what you are saying.

The reverse process, i.e. the transmission of what the other person says to you is a mirror image of the first process. Their voice is transformed from analog to digital when it gets to the PSTN/internet connection. The digital packets are sent to the analog telephone adapter at your location where they are converted back into an audible or analog signal to be able to perceive the voice as that of your caller.

The technology to do the conversion from analog to digital and back again has been around as long as digital electronics. For example, your PC sound card converts digital CD information to analog signal needed by the speakers on your computer. The difficult part of the VoIP technology is the necessity to smoothly transmit the digital data over the internet and reassemble it in a continuous stream. This is know as the protocol.

When listening to voice transmission, there can be no gaps in the stream of digital packets or the voices will not be understandable. This part of the technology has only recently been available, but is actually equal or better in quality than you get with standard telephone networks.

The equipment available today that uses VoIP technology can be an analog telephone adapter for your head set through the computer. There are a few VoIP phones that act like a regular analog telephone but have the ATA incorporated into the phone. It's actually a small dedicated personal computer in your telephone. These VoIP phones can be plugged into the computer with high speed internet connection or into the router. <bio>Bramatelecom (http://bramatelecom.com) - Canada's internet phone service provider (http://bramatelecom.com/home.php) offers low long distance rates (http://bramatelecom.com/rates.php) </bio>

As history has progressed and technology has continued to advance, life has become full of more and more good things. Without a doubt, one of the best things that our society has gained from the advances of technology is communications.

Consider for a few moments all of the amazing forms of communications that have made your life easier and more full. First and foremost in many peoples minds is the telephone. Even if you like to write letters once in a while, can you honestly imagine if letter writing and telegrams were the only way to communicate with people? Think of the countless ways that having phones have improved worldwide communications. My telephone allows me not only to call my next-door neighbor but the communications a telephone allows also enables me to call a friend who has moved to Africa in just a few moments time.

If having the telephone doesn't impress you enough, think about the way the internet has improved communications and many other aspects of your life. The internet has literally connected people from every corner of the globe by the simple click of a button or two. Our communications with people have become easier, more frequent, and faster. You can send a message to a business parter in Tokyo and receive a reply within mere seconds. Amazing.

The improvements in communications have opened up a world of possibiility to people in the area of travel. Places that were once impossible to reach are now not only possible to reach but also convenient and quick. Each time I sit in an airport I find myself amazing by the incredible communications system that keeps air traffic in control around the world. I can definitely see how an air traffic controller is the most stressful job in the world, but there is no way the job would even be possible without the intricate communications system we have to use.

With a less advanced system of communications, life would be different for individuals around the world, but life would also be different for countries and international relations. Imagine trying to keep the peace with an overseas country by the exchange of letters? Decades would pass before any amount of substantial communication could take place. Chances are high that we would enjoy far fewer privileges to visit or move to other countries without a great communications system like what our world has in place.

Before you pick up the telephone or sit down to check your email, take a moment to be grateful for the afffects of advanced communications in your world and in your life. <bio>Analeese Burnabaker is an author whose words are only seen through many forms of modern communications. She is very grateful. Learn more about communications at http://www.mycommunications.info </bio>

There has been a lot of discussion lately about VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) telephone service. VoIP is, indeed, becoming the alternative to traditional telephone service. But like any consumer product, it pays to shop around for the best price and service on VoIP internet phone service before you buy.

Virtually all VoIP service packages will surpass the minimal call waiting and voice mail bundles of traditional phone services. If you have commercials for a phone service provider that is advertising that their unlimited local and long distance call packages can be had for as low as $20 a month, then they are selling a VoIP phone system. And some of the packages include free long distance to other countries. No matter which internet phone service provider you choose, as long as you stick with a highly rated VoIP association that has a reputation for good voice quality of calls, you can't go wrong.

One of the accomplished things about any internet phone service is all the free calling features that comes with it. Free local and long distance is just the start. Another is that some of the features of the normal telephone line are free of charge in the VOIP phone service. But what are you getting for your hard-earned cash? If you pick out the hardware solution you'll be using a converter box called an ATA that will be attached to your high-speed internet connection. And you can expect to spend some time on the phone with customer support in order to get your system up and running correctly The good news is that from then on you'll most likely be able to experience uninterrupted service.

There are some familiar issues that you need to be aware of before making the switch to VoIP internet phone service. Because VOIP is new, your will see smaller and crucial differences between the broadband phone service providers. But internet telephony is the future technology, and even some traditional telephone service providers have conceded this by initiating VoIP packages of their own. Several telephone companies are realizing the potential for VoIP services and so companies like Sprint, Verizon, AOL and others are now offering VoIP plans to consumers. While the new VoIP can save you money, it does have its limitations. For the most part, VoIP telephone service is still only practical for home use and small commercial users, since the stability that is required by enormous commercial ventures isn't there. But it will be. After all, were you aware that most of the primary telephone companies use the Internet to route their long distance calls already and have been for years?

Remember, too that if your ISP suffers an outage in your home or place of business, you not only have no internet service, but you will have no phone service either.

Both types of phone service, VoIP and Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), rely on switching the telephone call through the fastest connection. Like all new technical skills, VoIP continues to improve and the result is better call quality and service levels. For years standard telephone lines have used a circuit switching network to transfer telephone calls, but VoIP technical knowledge uses something called packet switching instead where audio is converted into packets of data that are sent over the internet and reassembled on the other end by the character's computer or telephone. Since there are still some bugs in the system, switching without researching may not be the best idea. As we discussed above, do your homework before making the switch. <bio>Yvonne Volante, the author, is a big fan of technology and VoIP and writes for fxphone.com, which is the premier phone resource on the internet.
Have you ever wondered how insurance companies go about marketing their insurance policies? Aside from a company Web site, advertisements in the classifieds, and commercials? Many insurance companies get leads -- prospective clients -- by telephone marketing.

Many insurance companies use what are known as call center phone systems. These systems call prospective clients in various different ways. There are five basic call center phone systems that insurance companies can use when marketing their insurance policies, but they cover two main ways of marketing to prospective clients. Insurance companies can use auto-dialing systems when an actual insurance agent is calling prospective clients but uses the phone system to dial the client's number. Insurance companies also use broadcast marketing methods, when prospective clients are called but are not addressed by an actual insurance agent; rather, they are play a prerecorded message.

While these telephone calls may sometimes feel like telemarketer harassment, they're actually great marketing tools for insurance companies. Using these marketing tools can help insurance companies gather information about people residing in a certain area, i.e., demographic information, which will help them better plan their marketing strategies for that region.

These telephone calls can be beneficial to the prospective client, as well. Prospective clients who receive these telephone calls aren't being harassed; they're being given the opportunity to find out more information about a particular insurance company, more information about how that particular insurance company can help with their insurance needs, and even schedule call backs for the times when they really are interested, but just don't have the time to talk on the telephone.

So, the next time you get a telephone call from an insurance company, don't be so quick to hang up. Remember, they are simply marketing their product -- insurance policies -- just as other businesses market their products. If you aren't interested, let the insurance agent know; or, if you're in the middle of dinner, schedule a call back. <bio>http://www.myquoteguide.com/Car-Tips.shtml http://www.ezquoteguide.com/home/ Cheap Car Insurance </bio>

In today's world the telephone has become the most essential medium of communication. Telephones are widely used all over the world mainly for domestic use or may be for office use. In case of Office Phone Systems, the system is so designed that it allows its user to share the same external telephone lines rather than using individual telephones. These telephone systems are mainly designed for several phone users at a single location. By using these types of phone systems lots of money can be saved as it is very cost effective in comparison to any other phone systems.

The Private Branch Exchange or the PBX phone systems are telephone systems which are created specifically for business purposes in offices. This private branch exchange for Office Phone Systems is created mainly to form a private network between all the users, those who share the selected external telephone lines. This type of office phone systems is ideal for large and medium sized organizations or companies. These phone systems are very cost efficient as they allow sharing a few external lines among the users rather than having individual users use their own external lines. By using a PBX phone system it is very easy to reach someone within the phone system by dialing only a three or four digit extension. In PBX phone system there is some additional features like voicemail with forwarding, reminders, screen display and screen call options. The private branch exchanges for office phone systems are also capable of answering the phones and greet their clients with auto-generated messages and there is also an option for live call transferring in this system.

The Automated Attendant is a phone system accessory that can answer the phone calls by generating automatic messages electronically. The callers are allowed to route themselves through a series of menu prompts by the Automated Attendant. The voice mail systems are generally equipped with the basic automated attendant system. An ACD or Automated Call Distributor is a phone system accessory which helps to route incoming calls among a set of extensions and handles them efficiently. ACDs are mainly used in call centers or enquiry offices where it can process many incoming calls at a same time. The CTIs or the Computer Telephony Integration have broad category of applications. The CTIs are used to connect a phone system to a computer. The CTI retrieves important data from any incoming call and with their expertise and process this data for useful business purposes. The Key System Unit (or KSU) have features like call forwarding, extension dialing and voice mail options. The Voice Over Internet Protocol or VoIP helps users to place voice information in digital form using the Internet.

The office telephone systems are integrated with standard analog telephones, fax machines, cordless and cellular phones with the traditional telephone network and also have the option for the Internet by Voice over IP. The office phone systems have become very popular as they can deliver an easy configurability connection with unprecedented prices. <bio>Tyson J Stevenson writes on a wide variety of subjects, always with valuable news and reviews.
The fact that the Internet opened up a whole new world of communication options has not been lost on those providing telephone service - or on those who spend lots of money on voice communication. The ever-changing technology and emerging market for more cost-effective and better communication is creating a demand for people who can create, design and install VoIP systems. There's also a growing market for those who can repair and maintain those systems.

So what's so great about VoIP and Internet telephone systems? Cost is probably one of the biggest benefits touted by the companies providing the services and one of the biggest reasons so many people are ready to try the market. With VoIP and Internet telephone options, there's no cost for long-distance calls - even to foreign countries which is typically very expensive for those companies that make those kinds of calls. Think it's impossible that someone would offer unlimited long-distance for nothing? You actually already have that option already in the form of email and chat. All you need is a microphone for instant voice communication in a chat room, and that form of communication is free with your paid Internet connection.

VoIP and Internet telephone systems just take that to the next level through a voice communication system that allows faster and clearer streaming than through a traditional Internet computer connection.

So if it's so great, why isn't everyone using VoIP and Internet telephone service? There are some drawbacks. The first and most important is availability. Though this is improving, you may not be able to connect to your VoIP or Internet telephone connection from just anywhere you happen to be. For busy company officials and even individuals, this is a serious lack that makes the system less attractive.

Another drawback comes in the form of emergency calls. According to some sources, the VoIP systems are seriously inadequate in emergency situations. Because of limited availability of services, it's very possible that users may not have the ability to make calls at all. Even if calls are possible, the systems are sometimes not sending signals to the nearest towers, meaning you may not be contacting the most local emergency response teams. It's also sometimes difficult for those emergency personnel to target your location. All these problems will likely be dealt with over time, but they're still concerns to some people now who rely on cell phones for emergencies and are reluctant to take the chance that their VoIP or Internet telephones will work in emergency situations.

The legalities almost always become an issue and VoIP is no exception. Because this type of communication has the potential to have a major impact on the communication industry, there's little doubt that it'll eventually be regulated as telephone companies are regulated. This is of significant concern to those municipalities that provide telephone service and depend on the revenue from that service as income. <bio>This article may be reproduced only in its entirety.
Non geographic telephone numbers are a special type of telephone number, that is also considered to be a telemarketing number. These types of numbers do not pinpoint your business to a specific area geographically; instead, it allows you to take advantage of your total market nationally. There are many different categories of non geographic telephone numbers, seven to be exact.

These are known as:

- Free phone - Lo-Call - Fixed Rate - National Rate - Premium Rate - Alphanumeric - Personal

Free phone is a non geographical telephone number that offers your customers and potential customers the ability to call your business without having to pay any type of fees for the call. This is a great business tool as it gives your customers confidence and makes them believe that you really want their business. Free phone numbers can be distinguished by 0800.

Lo-Call are telephone numbers that begin with 0845. This is yet another great business tool because it gives your long distance callers local rate calls, even when they are on the opposite side of the country. Receiving the calls are free for your business, all you have to do is pay the deposit and monthly fees.

Fixed rate numbers are typically 0844 or 0871, these are traditional telemarketing phone numbers. These types of numbers charge the customer for their calls to your business. 0871 calls typically cost the customer's more than the 0844.

National rate telephone numbers begin with 0870 and allow your customers to call your business with a cheaper national rate, no matter where they are in the United Kingdom. This type of non geographic telephone number is great for information hot lines, order lines, help lines, and technical support centres.

Premium rate telephone numbers start with 090. These are great for competitions, chat lines, and technical support calls. These are premium calls that charge the callers higher rates per minute than 0871 or 0844 telephone numbers. The business is not required to cover any of the costs associated with the telephone call and recovers a large portion of the money paid by the customer.

Alphanumeric telephone numbers are words instead of numbers. These are perfect advertisement for many customers. This could be a catchy slogan or something to identify the company with. By using alphanumeric telephone numbers you can catch and keep the attention of your customers with something easy to remember.

Personal telephone numbers start with 0700. This type of number goes by many names such as call shield, follow me, one, and personal numbers. The great advantage about this type of telephone number is that it allows you to provide your customers with just one telephone number, but have that number route to any other number you wish. This is perfect for taking your calls while at home, travelling, or in another office, but do not want to miss the all important telephone calls.

As you can see, there are many different types of non geographic telephone numbers to learn about. Choosing the right one for your business means understanding your options and choosing the one that best suits your businesses needs. <bio>Derek Rogers is a freelance writer who represents a number of UK businesses.
Calling cards, telephone cards, or phone cards, whatever you know them as, are extremely useful tools when it comes to making telephone calls both locally as well as internationally. The most commonly used telephone cards utilise a prepaid credit system where users buy a certain amount of calling time, which directly corresponds to the value of the card. Of course, this process depends on the telecommunication system via which you make the calls. Different network providers might offer different types of telephone card services, but mostly all offer phone cards with a specific balance, which allows you to make a specific number of calls or rather equates to a certain amount of talk time. Such prepaid calling cards are disposable, so when you have exhausted your balance, you simply buy a new one.

There are other types of calling cards that carry a PIN on them, which allow the user to transfer their charges on calls made via these phone cards, from any phone, to a fixed landline account. The advantage of such phone cards is that they do not limit the talk time for the user, so there is no fear of calls getting disconnected if balance runs out. The user is able to charge the calls made on a calling card on a fixed telephone account, which allows for a consolidated billing.

With two main technologies used for calling cards, namely stored value or remote memory, users today can enjoy many facilities on their international calling cards or local prepaid cards. A stored value calling card contains a certain balance amount that you can exhaust for your calls. When you use them at public phone booths, the machine's card reader reads this value, and you can make as many calls you want valued within the stipulated balance amount. This system is similar to an ATM, which reads your ATM card in the same manner. The earliest calling card using such encoded value were the Italian cards made in 1976, which coded information on to magnetic stripes of the card. Nowadays the technology used in stored value card has advanced from the rudimentary coding systems of the past. Remote memory calling cards allows for the access to a database, checking for balance and other details. This is done via a toll free access number, but in countries where there is no nationalized telephone operating service; this feature is of limited use.

Calling cards are great deals for travelers, who need not carry cash to pay for their telephonic transactions. Making international calls is also a hassle free experience, as you can make long distance calls within a stipulated balance amount, and not have to worry about excessive bills. International calling cards allow mobile phone users to make long distance phone calls without having to worry about charges being added to their postpaid bill, or deductions from their prepaid cellular connection. Even local residents can enjoy the multiple benefits of telephone cards, which they can use anywhere when out and about town, and charge to their landline account, or simply do away with the need of paying for their calls from any local telephone booth.<bio>Smart-Phone-Cards.com offers calling cards, prepaid phone cards, international calling cards for Russia, India, China and other countries at affordable prices.</bio>

Rapid and trustful communication systems have become a norm in the modern world. For this reason, people are increasingly dependent on communication tools like the internet and the telephone which are the two major branches of the communication industry.

The telephone allows you to talk directly to anyone in any part of the world be it your friends, family or your clients. It is not only quick it is quite dependable too. This is such an important tool that now it has become one of the basic necessities in every home and business. Businesses depend quite a lot on this mode of communication and their life would get stranded without connectivity through a telephone.

The internet has also capture the world by storm through its ability to provide super fast and consistent means of communication. The amazing factor to the internet is all the applications that it offers for communication can be accomplished with very low cost. People can keep connected with other people through emails and chat.

The modern times has seen another advance in the field of communication by providing the latest communication tool, the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) or the Internet Voice. This is very similar to talking over the regular telephone but it is much more advanced. This has become so popular in the modern times that people are seriously contemplating eliminating the use of the regular telephone and switching over entirely to the VoIP system.

VoIP is far superior to the conventional telephone in that it provides many more features and advantages which the latter cannot even dream about. VoIP is through the internet and the voice signals are converted into digital format and then transmitted to the other person. The digital format of the voice signals ensures that there is no loss of voice quality and the communication is quicker and crystal clear as compared to a regular telephone conversation.

A great attraction that VoIP provides is the cost factor. Using this system, a person can make long distance calls to any other place in the world at a very low price or even for free. When compared to calls made long distance over the regular telephone, the communication is much faster, clearer and much cheaper when using the VoIP service. So, you will end up with lesser bills over the month in comparison to using the regular telephone line.

VoIP provides other advantages too. Let us suppose you require a PBX in your organization. If you purchase one to be used with your regular telephone line, it will be quite expensive. But, if you purchase one and use it over the VoIP system, it will be much cheaper and highly consistent. The functioning of the PBX system is similar in both the modalities but if the PBX is used with the VoIP system, it will be through the internet rather than through the telephone line.

VoIP is easily obtainable in today's times. You can find many service providers marketing the services on the internet who will provide business VoIP. But, if the purpose is to install VoIP system at home or if your intention is to make VoIP a career path, you will have to learn about setting up the VoIP system.

Installing a VoIP system is taught by Cisco Training Courses which has several such courses, one of them the Asterisk VoIP Hosted PBX.

If you opt for this course, you will be provided with all the training materials you will require to understand the process of setting up a VoIP system in any kind of setup. VoIP is beneficial for residential and business purposes. But, Asterisk VoIP Hosted PBX is more suitable for big organizations in meeting their communication needs.

Cisco provides all relevant information about the various VoIP PBX systems that are available and their utility. Using the Asterisk VoIP Hosted PBX, one can integrate all the phone lines in the organization into a single channel for communication that uses the internet to route the calls.

IP PBX is a powerful tool for communication within any office setup. Using this piece of hardware, the entire organization's communication needs can be met and easily regulated.

If you are intending to take up VoIP as a career path, you need to contemplate about Cisco VoIP Training Courses. The advantage this course provides is the hands-on experience using the Asterisk VoIP Hosted PBX. VoIP is definitely a good career path what with the amount of popularity it is gaining by the day and the pace at which it is eliminating the need for regular telephones.<bio>Learn the secrets behind voip qos as well as implementing the cisco voip for large corporations when you visit http://www.businessvoipcentral.com, for more free tips and strategies in VOIP broadband management</bio>

Many home based businesses fail within six months of starting. This is usually because the new business owner has not put in place, the proper systems to run a home based business. In this article I've included a few tips that should help you to organize your new business.

Office space

It is important to have a proper workplace for your home business. Many people try to work out of their garage or a corner of their bedroom or even in a portion of the family room. This tends to cause disorganization. Curious children getting into things in your workspace can also be a problem. If you don't have a specific space set aside for your home based business you need to make one.

Set up an office space specifically for your business, even if most of your work is done outside of your home (as with building contractors or plumbers). Setting up a specific desk, file cabinet, and telephone line for your business is important. If you don't have a room in your home that is exclusively used for your business, you need to have at least a portion of a room set aside. This area shouldn't be used for anything else.

Telephone

Your home base business should have its own telephone number and an answering machine set up specifically for your business. If your clients can get a hold of you via the telephone you need to have a way for them to contact your online. Sharing your home telephone line with your home based business can cause problems. If you have teenagers or other family members who are prone to use the telephone a lot you may not get an important business calls. Setup rules for your business phone. It should be used for business use only. Whoever answers your business phone needs to do it in a professional manner. This is important if you want your business to be taken seriously.

Organizing Data and Supplies

Your office should have a secure filing cabinet to organize your business documents. You should keep all important data in this filing cabinet. All receipts and other forms need to be kept where you are not going to lose them. It's also important to keep documents and other business related materials put away so that someone doesn't spell something on them. Losing important paperwork can be very costly for your home based business. Selling products that look like your children have been playing with them is also not good for your business.

Computer

Data on your computer should be password protected. If you don't password protect your business documents it's possible that children or even other family members can go in and accidentally delete your home based business data. Losing computerized business records can also be very costly for a new home based business.

Financial Management System

Another big mistake that new home business owners tend to make is not having a separate financial management system for their business and your own money. Your business should have its own bank account. You should give yourself a payday. Avoid giving your self advances, even when you feel you have earned them. Keeping track of business expenditures is important. If your financial records are mingled in with your grocery shopping it's going to become very difficult to keep track of funds. <bio>Scott Oliver offers free video coaching to help you build a profitable home business FAST.
Here again is another example of the Cable TV advantage! Cable TV provides your Digital Cable TV, High Speed Cable Internet, and also Cable Telephone Service! Some call these three services bundled together the {Triple Play}. This saves the consumer much money purchasing these three great services together as a bundle. And also think of the convenience, One Wire One Bill!

With Cable telephone service, you get a lot more bang for your buck. Included with most Cable telephone services are call waiting, caller ID, voice mail, call waiting with caller ID, three-way calling, call forwarding, and many other service options at no extra charge. Just try getting those options from your land line service such as Verizon at no extra charge?? Good luck! Verizon would nickel and dime you and make that monthly phone bill far more expensive than Cable telephone.

A big advantage to digital cable phone service is it's similar to your digital cable TV. The data is compressed, which results in much less bandwidth being used than your old analog service.

Cable TV telephone service has the advantage of better voice quality, dependable service, much cheaper monthly bills than a land line, and still One Wire One Bill for all your cable services!

Something to note is in many cases, your cable digital phone service is separate from the High-speed internet service being offered by many cable companies and does not rely on TCP/IP traffic or the Internet.

With cable phone service you can always reach the people you care about most, family, friends, or business and hear them in a very crisp and crystal-clear sound, whether they're in your neighborhood or around the world. With cable telephone everyone is much closer.

Plus the typical cable telephone calling plans gives you unlimited nationwide calling in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Many people can keep their current phone number they now use, so everyone can still stay in contact and always know where to reach you.

Simplify your life, why have so many separate bills? While Vonage, SunRocket, and Packet8 are more desirable and affordable than your old land line from Verizon, it can't get any easier or more affordable than subscribing to a bundled service package such as Triple Play.

Contact your Cable TV provider today, for Cable Telephone, High-Speed Cable Internet, and of course your Cable TV needs.

Keep things simple, One Wire One Bill!

Will Rogers-"Always drink upstream from the herd." <bio>Learn all the services one small Cable can provide! http://www.cableplease.com/cable-telephone-service.html </bio>
