Bill France Sr., on February 21, 1948, established National Association for Stock Car Racing. Initially, it was divided in three divisions: Modifieds, Roadsters and Strictly Stock. During these days, NASCAR racing is very much popular in America. It is gaining more and more fans everyday. Basically NASCAR is an organization that arranges different types of racing throughout the country.

National Association for Stock Car racing runs three top racing series: NEXTEL Cup Series, Busch Series, and Craftsman truck Series. On June 19, 1949, the first car race held in the section 'Strictly Stock' and Jim Roper was winner of that race. Presently we all know this division as NEXTEL Cup Series. From the past, some famous NASCAR drivers are Dale Earnhardit, Darrell Waltrip, and Bobby Allison. All of them were known for their open wheel racing activities.

All the time NASCAR follows certain rules in the section of car construction. Super-speedway and the Short-track are the two most important kinds of NASCAR cars. As the name implies 'super-speedway cars' are for super speedways such as Alabama's Talladega while 'short-track cars' are for short track raceways like Tennessee's Bristol Motor Speedway. Super-speedway cars require more speed than short-track cars.

There is a point system to choose winner in NASCAR car racing. Drivers can also get bonus points if they're leading by one lap of the race. After 36 races, the driver with highest scoring points is the winner of the racing series. If there is a tie between two drivers then the winner is declared by counting most wins as the cup winner. In case two drivers get equal number of wins then there is system of declaring second-place wins, third-place wins and so on. This is done until the final winner is declared.

The visitors can also enjoy car race thrills by sitting in the cars at Daytona USA, which is a fun fair, situated at Daytona Beach, Florida. It is sponsored by National Association for Stock Car racing. Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson are very much famous drivers in NASCAR car racing at present. <bio>Written for http://www.sportsbettingcash.com </bio>

James Dennis Hamlin Jr. or better known as Denny Hamlin, was born on November 18, 1980 was born in Tampa, Florida but spent most of his childhood in Chesterfield, Virginia. He started racing go karts when he was 7 years old in 1988. He was burning up the go karting tracks in Richmond, Virginia. By the time he was 16, Hamlin had switched to sturdier racing cars. He was racing stock cars and at his first race at Langley Speedway, saw him winning the pole position and the race. From then on, Hamlin raced in the Grand Stock division in 1998 which then spurred him on to Late Model Stock Cars in the year 2000.

Hamlin's lucky break came when he was 24 and racing in the Late Model Stock Cars full time. It was there that Hamlin garnered the attention of Joe Gibbs Racing who then decided to sign him up for a driver development program. The same year, Hamlin joined the major-league NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races and the NASCAR Busch Series at Darlington Speedway. He managed to secure an 8th place finish and with that, a stable footing in Joe Gibbs Racing. Even though he started at 27th after an unfortunate qualifying session, Hamlin's skills took over during the actual race and showed Joe Gibbs Racing that he was indeed a good investment.

Hamlin ended up replacing Mike Bliss in 2005 for the Busch Series and he ended the race with a steady 5th spot in the final championship. He also was able to compete in his first NEXTEL Cup Series after which he made his Cup debut after replacing Jason Leffler. He went on to finish the Cup season with 3 top 10 finishes in seven starts and one pole at Phoenix International Raceway. Hamlin had his first full season in the NASCAR Nextel Cup series in 2006 and he also drover the Busch Series. During the NEXTEL Cup, he managed to beat the previous season's pole winners in the 2006 Budweiser Shootout and in doing such, he made history as being the first Rookie of the year candidate to win such an honor.

While during a break at the Lowe's Motor Speedway, Hamlin injured his left hand between the pinkie and wrist which brought about 19 stitches as a result from goofing around with some of his crew members. However, despite the serious injury, he still managed to bag the second spot at the Crown Royal 400. He then went on to win his first career Cup Series at the Pocono 500 and he also managed to bring home his second career pole. His second career win was achieved in the same year in the Pennsylvania 500, Pocono Raceway and again made history for being only the 2nd rookie in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup history to get both trophies during the same season.

During the same Cup series, Hamlin scored the Raybestos Rookie of the year with a third finish in the final cup standings. He was in the NASCAR record books once again for being able to score the highest ever points finish for a rookie which then led to him being the first rookie to qualify for the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup. He has made many important figures in the NASCAR world to sit up and take notice. His excellent performance is also bringing on the heat on his other rival drivers.

Hamlin now lives in Cornelius, North Carolina to be close to the tracks. When he is off track, he spends time with his friends, plays online games and the occasional game of golf. <bio>For NASCAR Merchandise, Up to the minute News, and everything NASCAR including http://www.nascarsupershop.com/Nascar_Baby.html NASCAR Baby Clothes , http://www.nascarsupershop.com/Nascar_Kids.html NASCAR Kids Jackets and http://www.nascarsupershop.com/Nascar_Jerseys.html NASCAR Jerseys we have them at the best prices everyday!
What is NASCAR?

NASCAR is the abbreviation for National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing, which is the largest sanctioning body for one of the United States' premier sports: motorsports. NASCAR sponsors 17 out of the top 20 most-attended sporting events in the country, the second-rated regular sport season on network television with broadcasts over 150 countries, and has an estimated 75 million fans who purchase no less than 2 billion dollars in licensed products annually.

NASCAR is composed of 3 national stock car racing series (NASCAR NEXTEL Cup series, NASCAR Busch series, and NASCAR Craftsman truck series) as well as sanctioning 7 regional tours and one local grassroots series. It also sanctions 1,500 races over a hundred tracks in 38 states across the country.

* What type of cars are raced?

The cars fielded on NASCAR's race tracks are rear-wheel-drive (RWD), high powered and low tech hot rods equipped with a roll cage chassis and skinny sheet metal covering. These are all powered by carbureted engines with four-speed manual transmissions. Its engines are limited to carry 358 cubic inches or 5.8 liters of fuel with cast iron blocks, single camshaft, and a pushrod valve train.

Furthermore, NASCAR cars' brakes, suspension, and aerodynamic components are carefully selected in order for them to adapt to different race tracks. The adjustment of both front and rear aerodynamic down force, rear track bar geometry, spring rate, and brake proportioning are also critical when it comes to the so-called cornering characteristics of the cars.

The aforementioned specifications are common to most NASCAR cars (except for some modifications that are allowed) regardless of the make or model.

* When did NASCAR racing begin?

NASCAR racing began on February 21, 1948, by mechanic William France Sr. with the help of several stock car drivers at that time who were victims of corrupt racing promoters who took all the money before the drivers were paid.

NASCAR's first sanctioned racing event was held at the Daytona Beach Road Course circuit on February 15, 1948. In that race, Red Byron beat Marshall Teague in the modified division category.

* What is the top speed of a NASCAR car?

The top speed of a NASCAR car varies depending the race track where it runs. For instance, on the Talladega Superspeedway the top speed is 212 miles per hour, set by Bill Elliot in 1988. At the Infenion raceway, the top speed is recorded as 99 miles per hour. <bio>Niles Hanssen is editor of http://www.NascarHwy.com, the online guide to NASCAR.
To quote NEXTEL Cup driver Robert Pressley, a family friend of the Ragan family "It's like there's a blood line down here with the Ragans and racing. They're good. And whether you're in Legends, or Busch, or NEXTEL cup, they take everything serious and that's exactly right. If you take it serious, you're going to be successful." David Ragan, son of famed Ken Ragan, was born on December 24, 1985 in Unadilla, Georgia. The 6's father is a former Winston Cup journeyman so it does not faze NASCAR enthusiasts that the younger Ragan has the same fire for racing as his father. Ragan is currently the director of 600 Racing and was a former NEXTEL Cup driver. During his career, Ken Ragan, made 50 Cup starts from 1982 to 1990. Ken Ragan also made five Busch Series starts in 1982 and 1983.

The younger Ragan started racing when he was 11 years old at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Bandoleer Series in 1997. He has been blessed with an extremely fruitful career ever since then. When he was 12 in 1998, he went on to win the National Champion Bandoleer Bandits division under the sponsorship of Rudy's Farm. At the Atlanta Motor Speedway, he came in 2nd in the Thursday Thunder Series and won 12 Bandoleer features. From ages 13 to 14 (1999-2000), Ragan won the National Champion in the Bandoleer Yu-Guns division, he came in 1st at the Wendy's Summer Shootout at the Lowes Motor Speedway, managed to grab 19 Bandoleer wins, competed in Legends Cars, won the Young Lions division for the state of Georgia, the Semi-Pro Championship at Atlanta Motor Speedway, purchased Nascar Goods Dash car and won 17 Legend Car features. For someone so young, Ragan achieved a lot in the short span of two years and went on to get more for himself. He gained experience working in Cam Strader's Goodys Dash shop while on the tracks, he also worked on #6 NASCAR's Goodys Dash car. On several occasions, he tested the Dash car. Later on, Ragan and Strader's team worked on two NASCAR Late Models that was used by Ragan in 2002 during his first NASCAR series division. He continued to help Strader in the NASCAR Goodys Dash, Busch and ARCA events and raced ten Legends events at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

By the time he was 18 and eligible for NASCAR divisions, he had driven for Mark Martin, won the "King of the Oval" thunder Roadster series championship with the national title. Ragan became the youngest driver during Speedweeks in Daytona and he proved his nettle after getting a best finish of 2nd at the subsequent ARCA/Remax series at Kentucky Speedway. He gained a lot of experience when he qualified to compete in eight NASCAR Craftsman Truck events the year he reached the minimum age limit.

Even though he was a terror on the tracks, Ragan's family made sure he was doing well in school. Ragan was a student at the Eagle's Landing High School which subsequently led him to a place in the UNC Motorsports Engineering program. He balanced both his professional and student life immaculately. Besides his father, Ragan looks up to Mark Martin on the track. He regards Martin as a mentor who has along the way, given him advice especially when he was preparing for his shot in the Scotts truck.

As Ragan matures and becomes more experienced on the NASCAR tracks, he is building a sound reputation on the tracks and he keeps looking forward to the next race. He has father, Ken Ragan, with him during all his races as Ken Ragan is also his manager. They share a tight bond, one that is cemented with the love of racing. <bio>For NASCAR Merchandise, Up to the minute News, and everything NASCAR including http://www.nascarsupershop.com/Nascar_Figures.html NASCAR Figures , http://www.nascarsupershop.com/Nascar_Baby.html NASCAR Baby Items and http://www.nascarsupershop.com/Nascar_Jackets.html NASCAR Jacket we have put together the largest selection all in one place!
What is NASCAR? It stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. They are a sanctioning body that evaluates the various stock car racing in the US. NASCAR is one of the most popular sports today in the US. One of the reasons why its popularity boomed is because of media exposure. The top three racing series the association sanctions are the Craftsman Truck Series, Nationwide Series, and Sprint Cup.

The sport has also made celebrities out of their car drivers. Among the most famous riders NASCAR has is Dale Earnhardt Jr. He started his car-racing career at the young age of 17. Now he races in the Sprint Cup Series. His father conquered this same series in his years. For five consecutive years, he received the NASCAR Most Popular Driver award from 2003 to 2007. Fans are responsible for choosing the recipient for this award.

You can say that racing is in the blood of Earnhardt Jr. He has close relatives who are also driving other racing series. Others have business related to NASCAR. One of the most noted Earnhardt is Ralph, his grandfather. He started a long lineage of car racers in his family.

Ralph Earnhardt is a legend in the sport. He won his only NASCAR Sportsmanship Award in 1956. However, various groups in the industry have recognized his contributions. National Motorsports Press Association inducted him to the Hall of Fame in 1989. In 1997, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame did the same. The Oceanside Rotary Club of Daytona Beach Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame inducted him in 2004. Finally, in 2007, National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame inducted him.

Dale's father, Ralph's son also became a racecar driver. Ralph wanted his son to take on a different path. However, Dale Sr. was determined to follow into his father's footsteps. He dropped out from school and pursued his dream.

He became successful in the Winston Cup Series, now known as the Sprint Cup. In 1979, he became the Rookie of the Year for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He became a champion in the series for seven years. The Motorsports Hall of Fame inducted him in 2002. In addition, the International Motorsports hall of Fame inducted him in 2006.

It was evident that someone from his kids would assume his role. As it turned out, he did not only influence Dale Earnhardt Jr. but his other oldest son Kerry Dale as well. Although Kerry did not spend a lot of time with his father while he was growing up, he ended up doing the sport his father loved. Racing is probably strong in Earnhardt blood, because his son, Jeffrey, also began racing in 2007.

Jeffrey Earnhardt was impressive at Wythe Raceway, Hornet Division. Here, he won the Rookie of the Year award. He also made it to the General Motors' search for the next best thing in the car-racing field. In 2007, he competed in the Busch East Series where he placed fifth. By the end of the season, he won the Most Popular Driver award.<bio>Rick Grantham is an expert on sports equipment, specially on Dale Earnhardt Jr Merchandise for more information on NASCAR Merchandise, visit BooYah Village.</bio>

Does this sound familiar? Your significant other is a huge NASCAR fan, while you don't even know what NASCAR stands for, much less what it all means. You'd like to get a meaningful themed gift for the upcoming birthday/anniversary/holiday, but don't really know where to start. Here are some tips.

So let's start with the name. NASCAR stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. NASCAR actually sponsors a few different race series, including ones for trucks, but the most commonly known and most popular is the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. It's one of the fastest growing sports in the US in terms of popularity. It might surprise you to know that the NASCAR fan base is not as testosterone loaded as you might think. Estimates put NASCAR fans as 60% male and 40% female. No one knows for sure, but it could have something to do with the fact that it's not just the cars that are hot. NASCAR drivers have more than their fair share of admiring female followers.

The ultimate gift, of course, would be tickets to a race. How much will those run you? For races at smaller, less popular venues, online prices can start at around $60 per person and go up to $200 per person. At a race mecca like Bristol, Tennessee, tickets can go upwards of $700 each for the really good seats, down to $175.

If you're looking for memorabilia for your NASCAR fan, team jackets or hats are a good pick. Like any other sport, fans are loyal to their team, or in this case more specifically, their driver. Unlike other sports, favorites are not dictated so much by hometown as personality, and with a jacket or hat, your fan can wear his pride. If she attends a lot of NASCAR races, you might want to look into getting a scanner. With this, you can listen to talk between drivers and their spotters and crew chiefs, as well as radio announcers covering the race should you lose track of the action.

Maybe something to hang on the wall would be more your speed.
Every year, Nascar gets bigger and bigger and more popular among fans. Sales of Nascar merchandise keeps climbing and the overall popularity that was once limited to specific populations around the country has begun to extend to just about everywhere.

Obviously, this is great news for Nascar drivers and for Nascar racing in general. Some people love the speed of the cars, the skill of the drivers, and of course, the famous Nascar crashes. Even though the crashes usually end in flames and some wicked wrecks, the Nascar drivers are usually unharmed, or at the most not fatally harmed. Safety in the Nascar industry remains one of the most important factors in this racing community.

But, Nascar is one of those sports that really gets the fans involved. Try driving down the street without seeing a Nascar sticker on the back of someone's car. Close to impossible these days, and for good reason. The fans love this sport! They even bring Nascar into their homes with Nascar bedding and wallpaper. Plus, there are always great Nascar collectibles like these: http://www.sports-collectibles-store.com/Nascar_Clocks-p-1-c-42.html for fans to enjoy.

Nascar diecast cars are also very popular with fans because they are not only collectibles--they are toys! People of all ages love these die cast cars and trucks and they make great gifts for Nascar fans. Though it is not as dominant as other sports like football and basketball, Nascar has been growing in the betting field recently too. Some drivers are thought of as safe bets no matter what the record books say.

Nascar tickets are still affordable and provide a day of cars, exhaust, food and fun for the whole family. If you want to have a day of family fun, look no further than the next Nascar racing event. <bio>Kelly LaRose is an aspiring writer who loves sports.
NASCAR history is filled with influential people. A few influential individuals, including William France, Sr., have been responsible for creating the sport and taking it to where it is today.

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) was founded by France on February 21st, 1948. France, together with other drivers, designed a points system that would become the foundation of NASCAR racing. As early as 1948, the schedule consisted of 52 modified races that were run on dirt tracks. The first National Championship was won by Red Byron.

The Beginnings

Named its first commissioner, Erwin "Cannonball" Baker had a big impact on the history of NASCAR. An accomplished racer who set dozens of land speed records himself (hence his nickname), Baker allowed almost no changes to the cars that were raced.

Glenn Dunnaway became the first NASCAR driver to be disqualified after it was discovered that he had altered the rear springs in his cars. However, over a 10-15 year period, modifications were allowed for safety and performance periods, until by the mid-1960s almost all stock cars were built solely for the purpose of racing them.

Most NASCAR race tracks were from half a mile to a mile long, and the action in a relatively compact area added to the excitement of the sport. Some of the earlier tracks, such as the Martinsville Speedway and the Darlington Raceway are still in use today. Even the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which has been in existence since 1909, is still being used. However, the most famous race track of the NEXTEL Cup Series, the Daytona International Speedway was built in 1959, with a length of 2.5 miles.

The Later Years

In the early 1970s, the history of NASCAR took a dramatic turn. It increased in popularity due in large part to an altered points system as well as new sponsorship including the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.

In 1979, the Daytona 500 was shown on CBS, making it the first NASCAR race to be shown from start to finish on television. Going into the last lap, leaders Cale Yarborough and Donnie Allison got into a wreck, allowing a third driver to pass them both for the win. Yarborough and Allison got into a fistfight, and the drama and emotion that was shown in that race might be the defining moment in the history of NASCAR. Its popularity has steadily increased since.

NASCAR counts today amongst the most popular sports in the USA. It is hugely profitable for the participants as well, with at least million in prize money up for grabs at every race in the NEXTEL Cup Series. The NEXTEL Cup is run over 36 races. The sport is so popular that the successful drivers have millions of devoted fans that watch every single race and spend a lot of money on fan gear every year. In a way, the history of NASCAR is still in the writing. <bio>At http://www.stockcarcrashes.com you can watch and relive the drama of NASCAR crashes. </bio>

Beer brewing has always been the core business of the Anheuser-Busch company. An industry leader since 1957, Anheuser-Busch currently owns over half of the domestic beer market.

The market share has grown so much that Anheuser- Busch now has a bigger portion of the market than the next four competitors, with the international sales being no different. Anheuser-Busch remains the leading exporter of beer from the United States, with sales in more than 60 countries.

Microbreweries, or microbrews for short, have been gaining a lot of attention in the past several years. Microbrews are best classified as breweries that produce less than 15,000 barrels in a given year.

The strength of microbrews is found in their philosophy that beer should be of the highest quality. Therefore, microbrews are only brewed with malted barley, hops, water, and yeast, which are the only four ingredients found in the purist German beers. Mass bottled beers normally add rice and corn to help lower costs.

The only drawback to microbrews is what they cost. The more expensive ingredients found in microbrews cost on average 60% higher than the mass bottled beers.

Beer isn't like wine, which tends to get better with age. Beer is instead a food that should be consumed as soon as possible after production. With this in mind, pubs or microbrews that produce beer on the premises are the hottest new trends, with four new pubs on average popping up each and every week.

Each year, sales of microbrews goes up an average of 40% each year. This figure is very impressive when you consider that the market is shrinking as a whole. Even with this amazing success, the microbrew sales represent around two percent of the entire beer market.

In their pursuit to continue dominating the entire beer market, Anheuser-Busch has tapped into the trend of microbrews. They recently purchased a stake in the Seattle based Red Hook Ale microbrewery. The new products they released into the beer market include Red Wolf, Elk Mountain Red, and Elk Mountain Amber Ale.

Microbrews are normally produced regionally, therefore Anheuser-Busch is developing regional manufacturers and distributors. By doing this, they must decide on the best possible way to handle their short term cash needs for purchasing inventory in these tiny plants.

With their recent transition into the world of microbrews, you can count on Anheuser-Busch to make quite the impact. They will be offering more microbrews in the future, which is great news for beer drinkers. If you like the wild taste of microbrews, Anheuser-Busch is more than worth your time and money. <bio>If your into great beer then visit my beer blog http://www.mybeerjournal.com </bio>

Anthony Wayne Stewart is a NASCAR Sprint Cup driver. He was born on May 20 1971 at Columbus, Indiana. If there is one thing that Stewart wants, it is racing.

While growing up, he developed a keen interest in go-karts. He started racing, and in 1987, he became the champion of the World Karting Association. This is just the beginning of his long list of achievements. Aside from the go-karts, he also tried riding three-quarter midgets and raced. He joined the United States Auto Club Series. On his debut, he won the Rookie of the Year award. He was relatively successful in the open-wheel auto racing.

He had an interesting start in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He faced the much-favored racer, Dale Earnhardt Jr. in a Gatorade Twin 125 races. Although Earnhardt won, Tony Stewart has grabbed many of the spectators' attention. He gained more following as he continued to race. Many were impress in his strong finishes. He always managed to find a spot in the top ten. This made him deserving to win another Rookie of the year Award, this time from the Winston Cup.

After winning the Rookie of the Year Award in 1999, he did not show any sign of slowing down. During the next season, he was still consistent with his strong driving abilities. Although this was the case, the competition was tougher. The tight competition caused him to drop to the sixth spot. However, he won the midget car event in the Turkey Night Grand Prix and he could not be prouder.

The following season, Stewart was in an accident during the race but he was able to walk away without major injuries. Controversy also filled the season. He had unpleasant encounters with a NASCAR official for some violations. He also had some unlikely encounter with another driver, Jeff Gordon. This led to his fining. Many consider him as short tempered. These encounters earned him the nickname the bad boy of NASCAR.

He had a good run in 2002. It did not start right for him though. He placed seventh in the standings during the first part of the season. NASCAR placed him on probation after a misunderstanding with a photographer in the Brickyard 400. However, this did not alter his ability to ride. He had a good run during the last few races. By the end of the year, he would have his very first Winston Cup Championship title.

There are quite a few highlights in his career in 2004. He started out strong. He had notable wins in Chicagoland and Watkins Glen International. He also teamed up with two of NASCAR's great drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Andy Wallace for the 24 Hours of Daytona. Although they had a great start, they were not able to pull it off, their suspension broke, and the rear wheels dislocated.

The next season was a success. It included his second NASCAR Nextel Cup Title. However, he missed his chance to win it again in 2006.

Tony Stewart is one talented racecar driver. However, that is not the only highlight in his career.
Motor racing is growing in staggering numbers and Nascar is right at the top. The sport only has one race a week but there is all kinds of different things to bet on at internet sportsbooks. The odds offered are much better early in the week before qualifying but you take a huge risk if you have not done the right research. If you know what you are doing then there is plenty of money to be made every race. The bad thing about betting on Nascar is that you have no control over that loser that is a lap down and catches your driver up in a wreck. Most of the different ways to bet on Nascar are not available until after qualifying is over or until the day of the race. Here is a list of some possible ways to bet on Nascar at most of the different internet sportsbooks.

Race Winner - This is the quite obviously the toughest bet to hit but the odds usually start off big even for the big name drivers. This bet is usually the only one that is available before the start of qualifying but can change dramatically as different sessions go on during the week. You will usually have about 20 different different drivers to choose from as well as a bet to pick the rest of the field that does not have odds up. Picking the field is not a very good bet because most of the drivers that have a realistic shot at winning have odds.

Top 3 or Top 5 - This bet is safer than picking the winner but can still be tricky. You need to pick out a driver and all he has to do is finish in at least the top 3 or 5, whichever you bet. This makes for a much less stressful bet when you have those few extra spots to finish in. This is another bet that is not open usually until after qualifying or the same day as the race.

Heads Up - This is a much easier bet to hit than picking the winner or top 5. All you have to do is pick out one of the matchups that are available for each race and pick out the driver you think will win. There is often a bunch of different matchups but you will not always find the perfect one. The odds vary on this based on the drivers in each matchup. You can often not find this bet as an option until the day of the race.

Highest Finishing In A Group - This bet has a ton of different options to bet on Nascar. You will find groups of different sizes and drivers and you must pick out the one that finishes in front of the others in that group. There will be groups such as highest finishing chevy or just random drivers thrown together. You will likely not be able to find this bet either at least until after qualifying or the day of the race.

These are most of the ways that are available for people to bet on Nascar. The trick to having a winning Sunday is to search around until you find a good value bet. As with any gambling, be responsible and do not bet more than you can afford to lose. <bio>http://www.pressmybet.com </bio>

Let's get this party started; the Engines are ready to rev it up! NASCAR is in full swing now, which means it's time to get the grills out and the campers ready. Why is this year going to offer more than last season? What's in store for NASCAR fans? This year should be a memorable one for enthusiasts across the nation as drivers compete for the Nextel Cup.

This is the second year NASCAR is using a new point system, which allows drivers to position themselves for a final push down the stretch. Last year, due to the new point system many of NASCAR's top drivers were left out of the point chase, but with a year under their belts, more drivers will know what it takes to win the Cup. Considering that only the top-ten drivers have a chance at the Nextel Cup, there's not much room for error. Drivers have to make sure each race counts in order to ensure they are not left in the infield at the end of the season.

Most of the drivers and fans are unsure if they like the new point system; year two will give them a better idea of its strengths and weaknesses. If the drivers and the fans continue to complain about the new format, NASCAR may be forced to make some changes in the way it awards the Cup. The new format was supposed to make things more interesting, and although some thought it did there are still those that like the old system better.

NASCAR fans should enjoy an excellent year in 2006 as most tracks aim to become friendlier for attendees. Many of the tracks around the country are adding extra events to get people more involved. One thing the racing organization is attempting to do is make drivers and their crews more accessible to the general public.

NASCAR has also accelerated a more family oriented atmosphere and has more events that everyone can enjoy. In the early years, stockcar racing was seen as a redneck sport and a place to drink beer. But with the continuing growth in popularity, NASCAR executives have identified a more diverse demographic to capture. NASCAR fans include your average working people, business executives, doctors, lawyers, and just about any other profession of which you can think.

As NASCAR continues to grow, the demand for tracks will also increase. Smaller venues are what NASCAR was found on, but it is hard to ignore the calling of big markets and the money they bring to the table. If the smaller markets are not able to capitalize on what they have, they run the risk of losing one or all of their races to bigger cities. Hopefully NASCAR will not forget its roots and continue to be loyal to the communities that helped build the sport and its popularity.

There have already been instances where a smaller market has lost one of its races to a bigger one. If the sport continues to grow, it will be hard to tell the larger markets "no," because they offer the chance to make more money and gain even greater exposure. NASCAR may have to look at expanding the season to satisfy the increasing demand for races. This is a good problem to have and it is doubtful that you will hear one NASCAR executive complaining about it.

If all goes well, NASCAR will continue to grow into a bigger sport and bigger business. The road is wide open for this sport, because NASCAR is constantly tapping into new markets. As long as NASCAR is able to keep the fans happy, it will continue to grow. Thus far, NASCAR seems to have run the popularity race with aplomb; let's see if they can keep it up without any unnecessary pit stops. <bio>By Susan Alvis sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/ .
Ralph Dale Earnhardt Jr., was born October 10th, 1974 in Concord, North Carolina with the Earnhardt fire in his belly. Although his parents were separated when he was still a toddler, he is still very close to both his parents. A fire that burned down his mother's house forced him and his sister, Kelly, to live with Earnhardt Sr. and his new wife, Teresa, while his mother moved to Virginia. Earnhardt Jr. was a bit of a rascal in his younger days so when his father saw fit to send him to military school for two years although, by the time Earnhardt Jr. reached the age of 15, he decided to be like his father.

When he was 17, Earnhardt Jr. managed to pull together $500 after scrimping and saving to buy his first racecar from a junkyard. It was a 1979 Monte Carlo that needed a lot of work. Then he, his half-brother, Kerry, and father worked at fixing it up. His father was only determined to help with rebuilding the racecar and nothing more. Earnhardt Jr. was left on his own devices once he got behind the wheel to learn how to build up his own skills. Once high school was over, Earnhardt Jr. enrolled for a two year course at the Mitchell Community College in North Carolina. He signed up for a course in automotives and during that time, he worked as a mechanic with his father. Word got around quick about his oil changes.

With his co-owned racecar (Kerry had a say in it), Earnhardt Jr. went on to join the Late Model Stock Car division. It was then that he fine tuned his skills and gained more much needed knowledge on cars. One of his competitors then was his sister, Kelley. The only third generation NASCAR champion only began his racing career at age 17. He won the 1998 and 1999 Busch series titles over Matt Kenseth. In 2000, Earnhardt Jr., competed for his first Winston Cup victory. He also wrote a non-fiction book titled "DRIVER #8" which was primarily based on his rookie season.

The year after was one of the worst years for Earnhardt Jr. In 2001, he finished second in the 2001 Daytona 500 but his father had crashed in turn four and did not survive. Earnhardt Sr's death did visibly shake Earnhardt Jr's demeanor although he did race at Rockingham the following weekend. Eerily enough, he finished at the 43rd place after a wreck that was very similar to the one that his father had perished in the week earlier. Earnhardt Jr. got back on his feet and won more races at Dover, Talladega and Daytona.

In 2002, Earnhardt Jr. had to suffer through a concussion at Fontana in April which resulted in finishing places that were no better than the 30th spot. He did however bounce back and was able to get two more wins at Talladega as well as a pair of Bud Pole Awards and an 11-th place finish in the standings. In 2003, Earnhardt Jr. was really showing his true nettle when he was awarded the NMPA Most Popular Driver award as well as winning at Phoenix in October. He has gone on to win a great many more championships which, many agree, would have made Earnhardt Sr. proud.

Earnhardt Jr. is not just an excellent racer, he is also a business man. He owns Hammerhead Entertainment which is a media production company and he is also partners with the investors who are currently building the Alabama Motorsports Park, A Dale Earnhardt Jr. Speedway. He has also made several cameos on music video clips, on radio and several TV shoes and advertisements. <bio>For NASCAR Merchandise, Up to the minute News, and everything NASCAR including NASCAR Jackets and Race Car Jackets we have the internets largest selections.
Dale Earnhardt Sr. was born on April 29th, 1951 in Kannapolis, North Carolina and sadly died at aged 49 on February 18th, 2001 as a result of massive head trauma from a crash in the final lap of 2001 Daytona 500. Earnhardt Sr. was also known as The Intimidator but those who knew him, would say differently. He was a philanthropist and never found the need for media coverage of his donations.

His father, Ralph Earnhardt, was one of the best known short-track drivers in North Carolina. He was not very encouraging of Earnhardt Sr's ambition of racing cars as well and even when Earnhardt Sr. dropped out of high school to race, Ralph Earnhardt was hard on his son. Ralph Earnhardt did teach Earnhardt Sr. everything he knew and set the stage to make him the driver he turned into. His father realized that his driving skill came naturally and as such made his son view his mistakes as open mindedly as possible. Earnhardt Sr. appreciated everything his father did for him and missed his presence sorely when Ralph Earnhardt died of a heart attack in 1973.

Although Earnhardt Sr. started racing professionally at age 23, he ran his first race at Metolina Fairgrounds in Charlotte in the 1970 season where he finished in 10th place. In 1971, he finally won his first race which would then bring about 26 more wins while still racing at Metolina and Concord Motor Speedway. After he had quit school, he worked at several places like for an insulation company and he was also a welder who did brake jobs as well. Earnhardt Sr's decision to race for a career came about after his father's death. He bought an asphalt-track car while still competing at Metrolina. Although money was tight, Earnhardt Sr. always found away to get through it.

He began his Winston Cup career in 1975. In 1978, things took a turn for the better when he met Teresa Houston who then helped pave the way for Earnhardt Sr's path to NASCAR success. Once out of his rookie season, Earnhardt Sr. started the season off with a win in the Busch Clash. He became the first and only driver thus far to have won Rookie of the year and then winning the NASCAR Winston Cup Championship. He eventually went on to race for Richard Childress Racing in 1981 and then joined Bud Moore during the 1982 and 1983 season. After that he went back to Richard Childress Racing and in that time, managed to secure victory 6 times at Talladega, Atlanta, Richmond, Bristol and Martinsville.

He went on to carve NASCAR history in the following two decades. It is talked about the bigger things that could have been achieved had Earnhardt Sr. survived the fatal crash that took away a NASCAR legend. His #3 car was retired by his team owner who has promised never to let another car on his team be designed similarly. Although he was both loved and hated in NASCAR, he has remained one of the sport's most popular drivers. Earnhardt Sr. made sure his private life was kept private. When he wasn't on the tracks, he was with his family, hunting, fishing, working on his farm and known as generous giver amongst his friends. In 2004, his life story was made into a television movie, titled "3: The Dale Earnhardt Story" and in 2007, a documentary-style movie was released into theaters. Even in death, many still remember the great things Earnhardt Sr. accomplished and tributes in song, movies and books have been dedicated to the passing to the brightest star of NASCAR. <bio>For NASCAR Merchandise, Up to the minute News, and everything NASCAR including http://www.nascarsupershop.com/Dale-Earnhardt-Auto.html Dale Earnhardt Auto Accessories , http://www.nascarsupershop.com/Dale-Earnhardt-Decals.html Dale Earnhardt Decals and Dale Earnhardt Figures we have them at the best prices everyday!
Changes to NASCAR Points System in 2007 Move Emphasis to Race Victories

A shake-up of the points system used in NASCAR races will award an extra five points to race winners, beginning with the 2007 season events at Daytona 500.

The changes, announced by NASCAR in January '07, were devised to shift emphasis onto drivers winning races rather than merely getting by through consistently finishing within the top ten, a habit that was threatening to dull enthusiasm for the sport.

Referring to the point system changes in a statement, NASCAR CEO, Brian France, said andquot;Winning is what this sport is all about. Nobody likes to see drivers content to finish in the top 10. We want our sport, especially during the Chase, to be more about winning.andquot;

Each race victory will now result in 185 points, an additional five points over victories achieved under the previous point system.

To gain an understanding of how an extra five points can increase the competitiveness of NASCAR racers, just calculate the points in an example race scenario.

A race victory will net the driver 185 points. Five point bonuses can be achieved by leading a lap and for leading the most laps. In a good race, the winning driver could potentially be ahead of his closest rival by 25 points in just one event.

The effects of the changes will be most prevalent during the Chase for the Nextel Cup.

In previous years, the drivers eligible for the Chase were the 10 drivers with the highest number of points after the final race in the season and any other drivers whose point tally was within 400 points of the highest scoring driver.

Following the 2007 changes, only the twelve highest scoring drivers will be eligible for the Chase and will be positioned to start the race based on points scored for each victory in the season. Starting from a level 5000 points each, ten points will be awarded to drivers for each previous victory and the driver with the highest overall score will hold the best start position.

The decision to base Nextel Cup Chase competitors' start positions entirely on their previous race victories of the season is a sure-fire way to bring competitiveness for the number one finish back to NASCAR races. <bio>This is brought to you by R.D.
Looking for the most fitting gift for your partner? If your partner enjoys the comfort and the relaxing feeling that a cigarette brings after a hard day's work, then he or she should not miss the best partner of a cigarette: engraved <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/zippo+lighters" rel="tag">Zippo lighters.

For 75 years, Zippo has been synonymous with lighters in America. This is because it has brought much innovation to the lighter industry. The common features include the hinged lid that effectively turns off the flame, the improved chimney that allows the flame to stay even on windy situations, the better design of the fuel tank adding to its efficiency, and the tough metal casing allowing ease of use, which also allows various engravings to be created on the surface.

The design of Zippo lighters hasn't changed much throughout the years. Some notable redesign though include the 1938 No. 10 Tall Table Lighter (4.5 inches tall, four times the capacity of usual lighters), and the 1950 Lady Bradford Table Lighter (targeted for women).

If your partner is also a collector, giving engraved Zippo lighters are also good investment. There are an estimated 4 million collectors of engraved Zippo lighters today, and the number is still growing due to the masterful creations on the lighter's metallic casing. Engravings usually commemorate an important historical event or celebrating a generation. And even if collecting is not your partner's thing, engraved Zippo lighters add intangible value compared to a normal present.

Here are some engraved Zippo lighters you should add to your gift bag:

2005 Zippo 200 =96 These lighters were created when the company sponsored the Zippo 200 NASCAR Busch Series Race. The engraving shows the Zippo 200 logo partnered with blazing red. This is perfect for the NASCAR fans.

2004 60th Anniversary D-Day - This lighter commemorates the 60 years of the D-day Invasion at Normandy, France. There is a laser engraving of a shield (written with a 60th Anniversary) together with a bottomed stamp styled from the 1940s. The design echoes the lighters supplied to the military during the Second World War. The history encapsulated in this lighter is fitting for those who have relatives who have fought during the time.

199 Our Century =96 This is the last engraved Zippo lighter collectible for the 20th century. Behind the fireworks area list of the years that span the century beginning with the founding of the Zippo Company on 1932 and ending in 1999. This is perfect for everyone who has shared most of his life in the last century.

1971 Peace =96 Not enough words to describe this one. The emblem has been the symbol of a generation of freedom and struggle to break from conventions. Just get them and feel the love.

Of course, if these officially engraved Zippo lighters don't fill your fancy, there's always personalized engravers found in the Net or in your local boutiques. Just bring your slim Zippo lighter and your wildest imagination. No design is bogus enough, especially if this will delight your most cherished one. <bio>Looking for personazlied zippos ( http://www.executivegiftshoppe.com/zippo-lighters.html )? Since these vehicles can be purchased locally or imported, and cost a lot of money, you should take care to insure that you will enjoy this piece of machinery for a long time.

• Before taking the sports car for a drive, it is always best to check the brakes, the oil and the tires. If any of these are inadequate, you should correct the problem to prevent an accident that might occur before you arrive at your destination.

• There are two things that make a sports car run. One is gas and the other is electricity from the battery. By checking the battery either at home or at a station while fueling up, you can be sure that the car won't suddenly die when you are driving down the road.

• To keep the paint of the car free from damage caused by weather conditions, it is best to keep the vehicle inside a garage when it is not in use. If you do not have any choice, but to park the vehicle outdoors, it is best to park in a covered area away from trees that may cause scratches should branches fall on the car.

• Some of the smallest things that are wrong with the vehicle must be addressed immediately to prevent the situation from getting worse. If the driver hears a sound or noise that was not there before, it is best to take the car to a repair shop just to check and make sure there is not anything wrong.

• Another thing you must do when driving the vehicle is check the gauges on the dashboard regularly. Should one of these sensors suddenly light up, you should stop the vehicle and try to determine the problem. If are not sure, call a mechanic or go there and have the problem fixed.

• Simple things in the car need to be replaced every few thousand miles; such as the oil, the filters and the tires etc. This will keep the car in tip top condition if you decide to go on trip or in case of an emergency.

It doesn't take that much time or effort to make sure that the car is in good condition. All it takes is proper maintenance and listening to the engine when the car is started and when on the road. Most dealers have a routine maintenance check every 3,000 -- 5,000 miles so you should avail yourself of it to make sure that you are safe when on the road. <bio>Mohamed Rabea http://www.nfl-ticket-now.info http://www.nfl-ticket-guide.info http://www.nascar-ticket-now.info http://www.nascar-ticket-guide.info </bio>

Collection of sports memorabilia or sports collectibles, antique or modern is restricted by two factors: the money available and the space to be occupied. Once having decided on these basic factors, then it becomes a personal affair. The collectors taste may lead to Basketball Memorabilia, Baseball Memorabilia, NASCAR memorabilia, Golf Memorabilia, Football Memorabilia, Bobble Heads, Diecast Collectibles, Hero Posters, or innumerable other factors. Acquisition of an admired piece may also lead to a determination to get some more of the same, or to find out what the admiration is actually about.

The encyclopedia definition of sports collecting would be like this: "The hobby of sports collecting is about acquiring particular sports items based on a specific sporting interest of the collector. Such sports assortments of sporting things are frequently highly systematic, attractively displayed and carefully cataloged." Sports collectible (or collectable) maybe defined as a manufactured product designed for people who are interested in collecting them. 'Sports Memorabilia' the term is usually referred to items related to sporting that are directly connected to a recent or historical sports personality or sporting event. There are plenty of people who collect these sports memorabilia and collectibles.

The collection varies on the choices of the individual collector; it could be about just about any subject including sports memorabilia and sports collectible. Depth and breadth of the collection may also vary. At times collectors prefer to concentrate on a particular subtopic within the area of interest, for instance Baseball collectibles of the New York Yankee, Football memorabilia of the Dallas Cowboys, Basketball memorabilia of the Los Angeles Lakers, posters of heroes such as Lance Armstrong, NASCAR memorabilia of Tony Stewart, Golf memorabilia of Tiger Woods, Bobble Heads for any sport and Die cast figurines of fire trucks. At times some others have a preference to keep a general collection, collecting any Football memorabilia, Basketball memorabilia, Baseball memorabilia, Golf memorabilia, NASCAR memorabilia, Hero Posters, Die cast collectibles or Bobble Heads. <bio>For further information about sports collectibles, please visit our website http://www.sports-collectibles-store.com </bio>
