Picture this: a sunny day. You are at the wheel of your favorite car. The road stretches out enticingly before you. You have time and freedom to drive wherever you want. There is no particular time that you need to be home. The window is open, sending in the cool air as the car pushes forward. Could this be more perfect? Is there anything missing? In a word, yes. And that thing is music!

Driving is a joy, especially when you have all the time in the world, and you are out in the country, with miles to cover. But there's nothing like listening to music on the go. It adds feeling to the driving like nothing else.

The thing you need, though, to listen to music, is a great music system. This sounds simple, but the one thing that many people do when they purchase their system is make a cardinal mistake. And that mistake is to pay to little for their sound system.

A cheap system can do the job in some ways. After all, music is music, right? But the thing that you get with a cheap system is a cheap sound quality which will forever be fighting with the sounds of the car. Not good. This can become annoying very quicly, since passages of music will be drowned out by the sounds of the car as the frequencies interfere with each other.

However, with a more expensive system, the rules change. It's mainly to do with the quality of the speakers. A good pair of speakers will not on;ly generally have more power, but will also give a much better range of sounds, or tones. This means that the music will be much more enjoyable, a greater listening pleasure.

And that's exactly what is needed when the road is clear, the sun is shining and the window is open to the cool fresh air. So when choosing your sound system, don't immediately go for the cheapest option. Check out some of the more expensive models. You won't regret it. <bio>Jon Kilminster writes for http://caraudiohut.info </bio>

For generations the unique sounds that emanate from the music box have filled rooms with warmth, and soothed babies to sleep. Long before there were radios, or compact discs, cassette tapes, or even records, the music box was the source of music for most people. Unlike pianos or other conventional musical instruments, the music box was automatic and required no skill to play. All one needed to do was wind it up and enjoy the sounds it produced. Centuries later we have many more ways to enjoy the sounds of music, yet the music box still maintains its popularity to this day.

The music box first gained popularity in the 19th century. Today, in the 21st century, the basic form and function remains unchanged from the earliest versions. Most music boxes produce sound by striking the teeth of a metal comb with pins that sit on a revolving cylinder. The teeth of the comb in the music box vibrate after being struck and produce a specific tone, just like the strings in a piano. The cylinder in the music box is often wound up by hand in order to put a spring motor under tension. In other versions the music box may require the user to crank a handle attached to the cylinder in order to operate it, while modern variants may even be battery operated. But no matter how they operate, the sound has remained the same throughout the centuries.

The music box is still popular and widely used today. While some play the classical songs and lullabies like the boxes of the past, others play more recent and popular songs. The traditional box shapes still exist, but many now take other forms. Figurines of various shapes and sizes are often the face of today's music box. Each music box can be custom ordered and many suppliers offer thousands of songs and styles from which to choose. But the continued popularity of the music box has not diminished the demand for the older styles. Antique and collectible music boxes still fuel a thriving market where it is not uncommon to find models still selling for thousands of dollars.

The dainty and unmistakable sound of the music box is something we all recognize. It is likely that we were first introduced to that sound during our first few days of life. Perhaps that explains their enduring appeal. The music box is an audible connection to our past as individuals, but as a people as well - playing unchanged melodies that have been with all of us for centuries, and will stay with us for centuries to come. <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about music box visit our ezGuide 2 http://musicbox.ezguide2.com </bio>

Yoga music is absolutely one of the most key components to any type of yoga, and there are many different reasons why you should use yoga music when you practice yoga. Music is actually beneficial with any type of exercise, but particularly so with one such as yoga.

About Yoga Music

The basic purpose of yoga music is to help you with the practicing of yoga, as it helps with the relaxation and meditation techniques, and as well it can even be used outside of yoga for your own personal purposes, if you wish.

Yoga music basically works by using certain and specific sounds which have a particular integrating quality for the body and mind, and this music was actually first derived from the ancient musical system of India in order to help yoga practitioners to connect with and become aware of their bodies at the most deepest levels.

Obviously the whole purpose of yoga is to relax and ease your body and mind, and so if you have loud or irritating music playing then obviously this is going to make the process much more difficult overall. However if you have the yoga type music on, which is calming and soothing, it will help to improve strength, clarity, and inner peace.

All in all, this calming and expansive yoga type of music combined with that of the gentle sounds of nature makes for a relaxed and meditative listening experience, and thus is great for an exercise routine such as yoga.

If you are wondering where you can go to get this type of music, then you can really rest assured because there are many different options that are available to you here, and you can generally find this type of music at any location that sells any other type of yoga equipment, and so try going to your local exercise retail store first.

Even if you decide to go without music, you will still be reaping an incredible number of rewards when it comes to doing yoga because it is one of the best forms of exercise of all that you can do for yourself, and you will feel better mentally, physically and spiritually, which is something that most other exercises cannot claim to.

However, as stated previously, the music truly brings the exercise of yoga together for you, as it helps you to relax and free yourself so that you can act out the exercise to its full potential. <bio>Ann Marier writes informative articles about family life and general health issues, Her lastest are about losing weight with yoga.
A music synthesizer makes sounds by using an electrical circuit as an oscillator to create and vary the frequency of sounds in order to produce different pitches. As long as the pitch is within the range of frequency that can be heard by a human ear, it's known as a "musical pitch" (so a dog whistle wouldn't count) as a musical pitch. You can use a keyboard to vary these pitches at discrete intervals that correspond to the notes on the musical scale. If you put several oscillators together, you can combine several pitches to create a "chord".

OK, we've got pitch down (at least in a very simple sense). How do you vary the tone of a particular pitch? That is done by playing a given pitch with waveforms of different shapes (common waveforms include sine, square, sawtooth, and triangle waveforms). Since the harmonic structure of these waveforms differ, our ears interpret them as different tones. The sound you will hear can also be modified by voltage-controlled amplifiers (VCA) and voltage-controlled filters (VCF).

Synthesizers are able to only mimic the sounds of non-synthetic instruments, but also to create sounds that absolutely cannot be played by anything but a music synthesizer. That is because a music synthesizer is well-suited to delicate manipulations of its oscillators. Nevertheless, it's a lot easier for a synthesizer to create entirely new sounds than to mimic the sounds of acoustic instruments because the waveforms of acoustic instruments are so complex. Interestingly, once complex sound that synthesizers so far have been very bad at reproducing is the human voice (although improvements are being made in this technology).

The entire electronic music scene would be virtually impossible without the use of synthesizers (no doubt some wish it were). Nevertheless, the number of sounds that a musician has to work with has been exponentially increasing in recent decades, and we have only scratched the surface of the creative possibilities. Imagine the consequences if a machine was invented that could generate 100,000 hitherto unknown colors? <bio>"MIDI Music Guide" at http://midisoftwareguide.blogspot.com offers readers comprehensive information about MIDI based home recording software.
I want to give you a challenge. Find me a country that does not have music of some kind. Search anywhere you like. Explore the jungles of South America, make your way through African tribes, or discover the peoples of South Asia. No matter where you visit I guarentee you this: every country will, without doubt, have some form of music. Their people will make music, play music, and move to music.

>From California to China, people love music. There is something about music that is core to humanity. What makes a little baby respond to the soft humming of its mother? Or what makes an old woman on the streets of India turn to the sound of a drum? Music is truly a language that is spoken by every person on the earth.

There are many reasons that people love the sound of good music. Music moves us. There is something about the beat of a drum or the rhythm of an orchestra that can cause people of all ages to stand to their feet and move. We are so affected by sound, and when that sound is pleasing to us it forces a response. That response can be the simple clapping of hands or it can be the dancing of our entire bodies.

People all around the world also love music because it is beautiful. There is nothing more amazing then going to an opera or than seeing a symphony orchestra perform. Even the sounds of our favorite album playing in our car remind us that when we hear music, we are encountering some element of sheer beauty. We cannot quite define why music sounds beautiful to our ears, but I have yet to meet a person who does not like one kind of music or another.

That is another great thing about music: it is diverse. You can love classical music, country music, or rock and roll music. Some people prefer music with only a simple melody while others enjoy music with many complicated notes and sounds. What is beautiful to one person may not be called beautiful to another. And that is a beautiful thing.

Music connects people to events and helps them to remember some of life's most significant events. I'll bet you remember the first song you and your spouse danced to, and I bet you can name the song that played the first time you drove a car by yourself. Music is great that way. We can define entire seasons of our life based on the kind of music that we enjoyed during that time. Every one has been with a parent when an "oldies" song comes on the radio and the parent begins singing out the lines of the song, remembering with fondess their younger years.

>From Africa to Alabama to Argentina, music is an important element of culture. By it we define people and countries. Sometimes we enjoy the style, sometimes we would rather not hear it, but most of the time we all agree that music is a wonderful thing. Our lives would be very different and our world a less unified place if we didn't have music. <bio>Rachael Cleipher believes in the power of music to transcend all cultural barriers.
There's nothing like a music box; those haunting melodies that can instantly take us back in time. The song of a music box sounds like history; maybe because they have always been a fixture in homes throughout the centuries. Perhaps that is why the antique music box seems so fitting. It is though the music box has been restored to its original form; and in taking its place in our homes, tells the story of a life steeped in history.

The first music box was made by Swiss watchmaker, Antoine Favre in 1796, and acted as a rudimentary record player of sorts, allowing owners to enjoy and entertain with music in their homes. Music boxes continue to evolve under the guidance of their native country. Even as other regions began to design their own music boxes, the Swiss still enjoyed the credit for this miraculous invention. Even today, many an antique music box is referred to simply as a Swiss music box.

Depending on the time period in which the antique music box was made, you will surely enjoy a variety of period music. In this way, the antique music box acts as a time capsule of sorts, capturing the specific nuances - both in design and melody - of that very particular time in history.

While it can be a valuable and treasured item, the antique music box does not come without its challenges - mainly in the area of repair. Repairing an antique music box - because of its intricate and long outdated parts - can be difficult. It's important to find a reputable and skilled professional to repair or service your antique music box. You may look to those stores that sell contemporary music boxes; many times the owners and operators of these stores are music box enthusiasts and have knowledge of the complexities of the antique music box.

Keeping your antique music box in proper working condition will allow you to enjoy it for a lifetime and even pass it down to future generations who can then have the opportunity to hold history in their hand. <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about music box visit our ezGuide 2 http://musicbox.ezguide2.com </bio>

Music is an important tool to calm the mind. Its healing effects have to been to humans for hundreds of years. People practice music for different purposes. While some pursue it as a mere hobby or a means to pass their free time, others are more serious and practice it in a professional manner. Music does not have any kind of barriers. It can be leaded by people of all regions or ages. The only important thing here is that the person must show curiosity to learn all the nuances of music.

After the decision to learn music has been made, next comes the task of selecting the right musical instrument. If we think as far as a decade ago, the number of musical instruments available was less. But this is not the case today. The range of musical instruments available has been increasing day after day. Before setting off to buy musical instruments there are some basic factors which you need to consider.

a) Firstly, you must observe the type of sound that each instrument gives out. The main point here is that the type of sound given by the instrument should be satisfying to you when you hear it. Instruments producing cacophonic sounds should not be selected. There are a number of ways to go about this task. There are a number of websites on the internet which have sound clips of sounds produced by different musical instruments. Some CDs of music composed by many great performers playing different instruments can also be found in the local CD stores.

b) Trying out each instrument -- some music store owners are very harsh and don't let you touch the music instrument unless and until you buy it. However, there are some other music stores which let you the instruments to observe the sound they produce. Pick the instrument which produces the sound that pleases your soul.

c) The sound produced by the instrument should also match with the personality of the individual. Shy and silent persons should do well with instruments producing soft sounds and the same type of reasoning holds well with tough persons.

d) You will also need to consider the money that you will have to spend on purchase and subsequent maintenance of the musical instrument.

e) Instruments should also be selected depending on the surrounding in which they will be played so as to prevent inconvenience to the people around you. <bio>Linda Polansky writes about http://www.guitarsampsetc.com, http://www.guitarsampsetc.com/Coupons/Guitar%20Trader.html and http://www.guitarsampsetc.com/Categories/Recording.html </bio>

The aspect of giving musical instruments to kids might seem funny. You would think -- what would a kid do with a musical instrument when he is not even old enough to know what it is? Kids are usually attracted towards different things. Each of them has his own preference for different types of toys. If you observe carefully, some kids may be attracted to a certain kind of toys which make amusing sounds. These kids can be said to have a liking for music.

A separate type of musical instruments has been introduced for kids and infants. These are called the musical instrument toys. They give the first feel of music to the kids in their early age. They are manufactured so that they do not get damaged easily even if they are improperly handled by the kids. Kids who like to hear the sounds produced by these musical instruments get attracted to them instantly and start playing them. As time passes, they will learn to play the musical instrument better and better and one day eventually excel in it.

There are a number of advantages of introducing musical instrument toys to kids and infants. Firstly, the child or infant for feel attracted to it for a longer time than normal toys and this gives him a chance to develop his musical talents for an early age. They begin to develop additional talents like music by practicing on the musical instrument regularly. If they stay attached to their musical instruments for a long time, they will eventually realize one day that they can turn their musical abilities to build a lucrative career in music. Hence, you see that musical instrument toys can have a long term positive effect on your kids.

Musical instrument toys are not price very high. In fact, they are produced with cheap and damage resistant materials so that they do not get dented easily and have a substantial life period. These are simple enough to understand and operate. They are built to produce the basic sounds only. Adding all the sounds to the musical instruments is not needed because these are just toys. As the child begins to grow, the size of the musical instruments can be proportionately increased, which will enable him to learn more complex sounds. You can also hire a musical instrument instructor to teach him how to play the bigger and better musical instrument. <bio>Linda Polansky writes about http://www.guitarsampsetc.com, Bass Guitars and Recording Instruments coupons. </bio>

Millions of people around the world suffer from a number of different sleep disorders and try many methods for solving the problems that come with most of these sleep disorders. People have tried sleep aids that contain medications, relaxation techniques, mechanical sleep aids, and even creating a bed time routine to relax the body and the mind enough for the person to get enough sleep each night. There is one treatment method for sleep disorders that is often overlooked and that is using music for sleep disorders.

Using music for sleep disorders has been a common treatment method for many different people throughout history. When medieval kings had trouble sleeping at night, often from the stress of ruling and wondering which family member was plotting to kill them and take their throne, they called for their musicians to play soothing music until they had relaxed enough to go to sleep. This technique is even more common today, with mothers singing their children soft lullabies to lull them into a deep and relaxing slumber.

Today, there are many different artists that create music to soothe a person so that they can get to sleep. Most of these soothing melodies must be purchased at the local record store or other retailer that sells music as music to put a person to sleep is not really popular on radio stations across the nation. The type of music that is chosen will depend on the personal preference of the person that will be using the music to get to sleep.

There are many different versions of music that can be used as a treatment for sleep disorders such as insomnia. The most popular songs used for this purpose are instrumental melodies that are smooth and gentle to the ears. These songs contain no words and are designed to draw the person into the music where they can clear their mind and surrender to the calming sounds of the song.

Many instrumental melodies that are designed to lull a person to sleep use gentle sounding instruments, such as pianos, saxophones, and flutes for the music. This creates a relaxing sound that has nothing to focus the mind on and reduce the soothing qualities of the music. The tone of the music will ebb and flow, creating an effect in the mind similar to floating on a bubble or riding gentle waves of water. As the person listens to the music, they will begin to feel the muscles in their body lose tension and their mind begin to drift away into a deep and restful sleep.

Some people choose music that incorporates more sounds of nature than sounds of instruments in the song. The sound of whispering winds, rustling leaves, and soothing animal songs releases a primal response in some people that helps them relax more deeply, resulting in a more restful sleep. People that choose to use music to help relieve the symptoms of a sleep disorder may have to purchase several different types of music before they find the one that works best for them.<bio>Would you do anything to get a proper nights sleep?
Any social event that features music played with country styled musical instruments is sure to draw large crowds. Musical instruments such as the fiddle, banjo, and guitar have been featured during live performances at the Grand Ole Opry and are favored by country music artists in recording studios around the world. These musical instruments are not easy to use at first, but they are the most preferred musical instrument modes to bring country styled music to people around the world.

People believe that guitars, banjos, and fiddles should be easy to play if they are meant to supply country styled music sounds. That outlook changes when players must figure out how to make the music tones change after a few strums on the chords. Then aspiring musicians realize that there is a lot of practice involved to produce quality country music sounds worth listening to.

The effort of learning to strum each of these musical instruments might be too much for some, because the intricacies of playing the musical instruments is greater than expected, and people do not want to waste money learning how to play them. It takes months of practice to render music of better quality, and even more practice will be required to play good enough for a public performance. Most students learn the basic chords while playing these music instruments in high school.

To an untrained ear, country musical instruments might sound in tune when they truly are not. A country music fan will know if the musician knows their stuff when they are able to play country styled musical instruments such as the violin and banjo and produce musical sounds that sound just like a train coming down the tracks. When this type of country music sound is produced on a stage in front of a live audience, the crowd will typically show how good the music feels by clapping hands and stomping feet while the chords are being released in unison on the stage.

Country music gets even livelier when drums are introduced to the music score. Audiences are likely to get up and start dancing when these country styled musical instruments are heard. The clapping is likely to get very loud during some portions of a country music show and fans will show their appreciation for a good performance by giving standing ovations at the end of the show. Drums are not down home country music instruments but are percussion styled instruments that can be used to create country styled spirit in music scores.

The true sounds of country music can be derived from two country styled musical instruments. Early settlers used to rely on everyday items around the house to produce musical sounds at social events. Items such as a washboard and a jug of moonshine have been used to spice up parties in many ways. After the daily wash chores were finished, women could be seen congregating with friends for a mid-afternoon party. The rhythms created after many days of wash would be introduced to guests when they came over for a Saturday night filled with dancing.<bio>James Brown writes about ProSound and Stage Lighting coupon, InstrumentPro.com coupon and Musician's Friend coupon</bio>

I simply love my CD clock radio. For me the way you wake up in the morning is important, so why not do it the right way? Why torment yourself with some earsplitting and obnoxious beeping alarm clock? Since the time I got my CD clock radio I've been waking up in the most luxurious ways possible.

At times if I'm feeling especially sophisticated I'll set on some Bach or perhaps some Beethoven to wake up to on my CD clock radio. There's really nothing like starting the day off with some timeless classical music softly wafting into your ears and easing you from your slumber into a state of wakefulness. There have been times when I have dreams of hearing this music before I arise, and the rest of the day I feel composed and rested instead of irritated and rushed.

Obviously, I presume the main reason people prefer loud buzzers to wake up to, is to ensure they really awaken, but personally I have found that even gentle music from my CD clock radio almost always does the trick. Or if I'm worried about getting up by a certain time, I can set the CD clock radios buzzer alarm as well as the music. First the music plays, but then five minutes later I set the buzzer to go off just to make sure. Despite the fact that I never had to hear that buzzer, it's reassuring to know that its there.

Another nice feature about my CD clock radio is the alternative sounds it has to wake up to. Made by Timex, my CD clock radio has a selection of 'nature sounds' to play in place of a buzzer. Though it may not have a very extensive selection of sounds, but they are actually pretty nice. One of them is not really a nature sound, but is a series of gentle wind chime like tones that play in a very Zen like manner. Perhaps if I'm tired of waking up to classical - Bach, I can adopt a more Eastern style of starting the day and wake up feeling like a Buddhist monk instead! With regards to the sound quality on my CD clock radio is only fair, and is not really designed to replace or act as a CD player.

CD clock radios are just great alternatives to your standard clock radios, and enable you to slip in any kind of music you want to wake up to. And yes! You even have the option of waking up to the radio as their names imply, if you run out of CD ideas. <bio>Linda E.
Native Americans are eager to share their ancestry with their families and friends. One of the ways they do this is through their music, particularly through the music of the Native American flute. They want to ensure that their children have a strong link with their ancient culture, and music is an excellent way to teach non-Native Americans about this culture as well.

Mothers of small children often find that Native American flute music is very soothing for their babies. It seems to have a tranquil and calming effect on children. Songs played on the Native American flute can be introduced during naptime and before bedtime to calm children down. The music often puts children to sleep within just a few minutes. Experts have also recommended Native American flute music to families with small babies that have a hard time getting to sleep.

This music also represents an excellent tool for calming down a baby in situations where there may be difficult transitions for such young children, such as when many visitors come to the home. It is often difficult for small babies to adjust to the confusion and noise created by a large number of people at special occasions, and playing Native American flute music can help to calm a baby down in these circumstances.

The music of the Native American flute is very soft, and it creates a wonderful, soothing background for many situations. It is just the sound for keeping babies calm when there are a lot of people in the environment. Babies seem to focus on the flute sounds instead of on the loud noises generated by crowds. Having flute music playing in a room makes it easier for them to adjust to visitors.

Of course, adults will also enjoy the music of the Native American flute. It is easy to find interesting and unique Native American flute music on the Internet, since many online stores offer selections of alternative music. It is also possible to purchase Native American flutes and sheet music. Several vendors offer musical compositions for the flute, and they sell Native American flutes as well.

Native American flute music is an excellent way to learn about and enjoy the special features of Native American culture. And since songs are often linked to memories, this music offers a good way to preserve the memory of special times. <bio>To discover more about music, musicians and playing music go to http://music-advice.com </bio>

Compact discs (CDs) are all the rage today, and with good reason. The sound quality is truly pure and clear, and you almost feel as if you are in a sound-proof room when you focus your listening solely on the CD player. The clean, crisp sound that comes out is a huge improvement from the vinyl records that crackled as they played.

However, it is that crackling sound that is only offered by the vinyl records that I find so appealing. There is something about that sound that is so neat and even soothing to listen to especially when I'm in a nostalgic mood. Perhaps it is due to the crackling sound which is tied so closely to the songs I loved when I was a child. I simply cannot separate the two.

I actually took notice of my love for that unique antique sounds of the crackling vinyl records by accident. A really good friend of mine had offered to be the disc jockey for my wedding without charge. Of course I did not refuse the kind wedding gift. However there was a catch. My friend played only vinyl records, nothing else.

This was certainly not a problem for me. I had wanted to skip all of the trendy pop-chart music of today and focus on older dance music and classic songs available on vinyl records. My friend started playing dinner songs at the reception. He chose classic Irish music during the wedding meal.

The whole reception hall had kept silent during the prayer. And once the prayer had ended, the DJ slowly placed the needle on the record and the quiet room began filling up with soft crackling sounds followed by lovely Irish music. The transition was magnificent and the memory of the moment the crackling sounds overtook the reception hall still gives me chills. You simply can not replicate that with a compact disc.

Technologically, we have come a long way when it comes to music. However, we should not completely let go of the little gems from our past. The haunting sounds of the crackling vinyl records help us truly touch the past even if for just a moment. <bio>Glen B. Different people like different music to meditate by. Some like to have music playing in the background while they meditate while others like the form of meditation that involves making music to meditate by.

Meditation is a simple and easy art and even children can easily practice it. With music to meditate by meditation can be made even more interesting for children. You get a choice of meditation music that is especially meant for children.

Whatever form of meditation you choose, it is important to remember that music to meditate by should be simple, calm, soothing and peaceful. It should induce feelings of inner peace and help you to focus. Loud music to meditate by is destructive and unproductive. It is distracting and creates feelings of chaos. The most popular musical instruments associated with meditation include the sitar, flute, Tibetan singing bow and the tambora.

While some people use music to meditate by, there are many musicians who use meditation to calm themselves and to stay focused before any major performance. If you are using music as a means of meditation, you should try and stop doing everything else and just focus on the music in order to get the full benefits of the music. It also helps you to enjoy the music more.

If you are looking for music to meditate by, there are plenty on online websites that offer different kinds of meditation music that you can buy. Some websites allow you to listen to a sample of the music so you can decide if that is what you are looking for. There are even a few websites that offer free mp3 downloads of music to meditate by.
Choosing an MP3 player used to be a much easier shopping decision than it is today. Just a couple of years ago, only MP3 players played MP3 music. Nowadays, every man and his dog that has a mobile phone, laptop or memory storage device can play MP3 music. Now that there are a few more things to take into consideration, it is wise to think about a few issues before splashing out some serious money (or trying to save some serious money).

Part I - Do you need an MP3 player?

Probably the most important question you need to ask yourself. Why do you want one? Does your mobile phone already come with an MP3 player? What about your laptop? Why would you need one if you've already got one? The only reason MP3 players exist in their own right is because a mobile phone is a much better device for making phone calls on the go, and an MP3 player, well, it is a much better device for playing MP3 music. When there is a comprise in function, there is a comprise in function (i.e. quality and performance).

Part II - Do you need a good MP3 player?

Probably the second most important question you need to ask yourself. It does sound like a rhetorical question. Of course you want a good MP3 player, but please provide a definition for "good". Do you want something that looks good, plays good (well is probably a better word) or sounds good (or all three perhaps). Remember that these days people will buy things for the image (looks/sounds good), performance (plays good) and quality (lasts good). All three come at a cost (though not necessarily equal in weighting), and usually you'll find that two out of three ain't bad. Sometimes big name brands not only looks good (the Japanese designers are experts at this), sounds good (for example, hey look, I've got a Sony -insert model here- !), but they might actually have good performance or quality as well (Some say the iPod belongs in that category, but I don't want to start another online forum about it). But most of the time, practical people start with performance or quality, and just hope that it's something they can hide in their designer label clothing's MP3 pocket. <bio>Forget buying an MP3 player!
When I think of the Middle East, I think of a bunch of people walking around with long robes on covering all of their bodies. I also think of snake charmers and very simple musical instruments creating very simple musical tones. However the music scene in Pakistan has no resemblance of the picture I just described. Pakistani music has been redefined over the past decade, and turned into a more pop/rock genre than anything else. Some of the most famous singers in Pakistan have also been in movies. Does this sound similar to the entertainment industry in the United States? Here are a few of the most popular singers in Pakistan right now: Ali Azmat, Josh, and Natasha.

Ali Azmat is the lead singer of the band Junoon and is probably the most famous and loved musician in Pakistan. Fans travel from around the country to see his concerts and they cheer the entire time he is singing. His popularity rivals the Beatles during their hay day. The biggest reason that people love him in Pakistan is that he was a rags to riches story which everyone there can relate to. He decided to go after his dreams and after struggling for a while, was able to achieve them.

Josh has exploded on the pop/rock scene in Pakistan with his good looks and original sound. He blends traditional Pakistani music with the new pop/rock sounds of today. Josh is also very popular with many people all over the globe, because of his many remixes that he has performed with Nelly Furtado. I think that Josh will continue to stay popular with the younger generation in Pakistan, and might even top some of the charts in other places around the world.

Natasha is another very talented and beautiful musician from Pakistan. Her music is very smooth and sounds good in any situation. However to me the reason that she is so popular is because she is very beautiful. Pakistan is a great place, because they have slowly started to remove all of the restrictions placed on women and are allowing them to strive towards equality. All in all Pakistani music has evolved greatly recently, and they are starting to make a splash on the world stage. <bio>Visit our site for a New way to find Pakistani Music Videos, Friends and Pakistani entertainment: http://www.apnachill.com/ </bio>

When I first got my guitar on my eleventh birthday, all i wanted to do was play the songs by my favourite rock bands. I brought books that taught you the tabs and chords to play for all their songs. This was a great learning curve for me, and I never had a guitar lesson. Through learning songs by my favourite bands I had 'installed' the ingredients of a good song in my brain. I had the instrument, I had the knowledge. It was time to start writing some songs of my own.

Do you need an instrument to write a song? Well, I think it helps. You can predict how the song will sound with the music, a lot better than maybe, humming it in your head. One of the reasons I brought a guitar was so that I could play the songs I was humming in my head. As well as guitar, a piano is a great instrument to use when writing a song. You can map out melodies better with the keys, as well as playing the chordal patterns.

Should you write the lyrics first, or the music? This is often something I contradict myself with, and it all depends on the songwriter. When bands write songs together they usually split the music and the lyrics between them. My concern is that sometimes, when you have written the music and lyrics separately, you can tell. The words sound very broken and sometimes rushed, because the singer is trying to fit the lyrics and syllables into the music.

I find the best songs I write come from jamming on a guitar or playing on a piano and singing along. Singing anything that sounds good to it. Even gibberish. Once I have the structure of the song, I then start putting meaningful lyrics in place of the gibberish. Sometimes I even keep some of the gibberish. Take the band Sigur Ros. If you have never heard of them, I suggest you legally download some of their music now. They believe the vocals are an instrument, and they treat it that way. The singer sings utter gibberish, but it sounds good. It sounds totally improvised and natural.

Another good way to get ideas for a song is to start jamming with others. Think of a little riff. It could be something at random. Get the other band members to join in with something that fits in.

Lyrics wise, I think you should do what I said. Use gibberish at first to work out the melody and syllables, then when you have finished the structure of the song, write around the gibberish!

There's a lot of software available that aids in writing songs like Garage Band for the Mac, and Cubase for Windows. <bio>Joe Davies is the Author of the Revolutonary 'Strumming For Dollars' Manuscript, teaching songwriters how to earn money writing songs in a step by step guide. He also writes a songwriting blog. http://strummingfordollars.com </bio>

And if you love gospel, knowing how to play your favourite songs on the piano this will only add to the fun.

The piano is one the most beautiful instruments in the world. The sound it emits is enchanting and melodic, while at the same time it can be played with great enthusiasm and dynamics.
