It was called the most emotional announcement of a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/pro+football+hall" rel="tag">Pro Football Hall</a> of Fame class in history. The formal induction ceremony of the class into the Hall of Fame will be on August 5. <br /><br /> The other members of this year's class are Harry Carson, John Madden, Warren Moon and Rayfield Wright. With six people being inducted this year, this class is also the biggest ever inducted since 2001. <br /><br /> Aikman was once renowned as the NFL's golden boy and one of the greatest quarterbacks of his era. He led the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/dallas+cowboys" rel="tag">Dallas Cowboys</a> to three Super Bowl titles in the 1990s. Today, Aikman is a television sportscaster for the Fox network and a joint owner of the NASCAR Nextel Cup racing team, Hall of Fame Racing, along with fellow former Cowboys quarterback, Roger Staubach. <br /><br /> White, nicknamed the andquot;Minister of Defense, andquot; was one of football's most prolific sackers ever, either in college, the USFL and the NFL.. White also earned his nickname as reference to his Evangelical Christian ordination. He died suddenly in 2004 after suffering a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/fatal+cardiac+arrhythmia" rel="tag">fatal cardiac arrhythmia</a> caused by the sarcoidosis he had lived with for years. During the 2005 season, three teams retired White's number 92 jersey. <br /><br /> Moon became the first African-American quarterback to ever be inducted into the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/pro+football+hall+of+fame" rel="tag">Pro Football Hall of Fame</a>. Before him, no other African-American quarterback even got close to induction. Aikman and Moon followed Dan Marino, Steve Young and John Elway in a string of great quarterbacks to make the Hall in their first tries. <br /><br /> andquot; To be the first African-American quarterback into the Hall of Fame, all African-American QBs who played before me should share in this, andquot; Moon said. andquot;I don't want to make this a racial thing, but I think it is significant. It shows that we have arrived at the pinnacle of our sport.andquot; <br /><br /> And, of course, there is Madden, the coach-broadcaster-video game entrepreneur who holds the record for the best winning percentage of any NFL coach with 100 victories (.759). He coached the Oakland Raiders for 10 years and won the 1977 Super Bowl. <bio>Jonathon Hardcastle writes articles for <a href="http://footballorbust.com/" >http://footballorbust.com/</a> - In addition, Jonathon also writes articles for <a href="http://igolfcentral.net/" >http://igolfcentral.net/</a> and <a href="http://universeofentertainment.com/" >http://universeofentertainment.com/</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ All you wrestling fans out there who aren't quite sure what to do for their next vacation should plan a visit to <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/oklahoma+city" rel="tag">Oklahoma City</a>. That's because the National <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/wrestling+hall+of+fame" rel="tag">Wrestling Hall of Fame</a> and Museum is located in Oklahoma City and it is a must see for anyone who enjoys wrestling. Here you will learn about wrestling's past, its present, and the plans for the future. <br /><br /> It is such an educational trip not to mention enjoyable that individuals who aren't that big on wrestling will probably even enjoy it. There really is a lot to learn because the sport of wrestling did not begin with the WWF - <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/wwe" rel="tag">WWE</a>. Instead, the sport had a much more modest beginning and the museum celebrates this as well as all the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/leaps+and+bounds" rel="tag">leaps and bounds</a> the sport has made in popularity since. <br /><br /> When you head to the museum make sure you plan on arriving Monday through Friday 9 am until 4:30 pm or else by appointment on the weekends. Within the Museum you will see the Paul K. Scott Museum of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/wrestling+history" rel="tag">Wrestling History</a>, the John T. Vaughan Hall of Honors, Gable/Smith Room, FILA International Hall of Fame, William S. Heins Jr. Library, Cliff Keen Theater, as well as others. You will learn so much about wrestling that you never knew before when you visit the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/national+wrestling+hall+of+fame" rel="tag">National Wrestling Hall of Fame</a>.<br /><br /><br /><br /> When you visit Oklahoma City you will also find many other things to enjoy. You can play golf, go shopping, enjoy seeing professional sports games, and even more. Oklahoma City is the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/most+populous+city" rel="tag">most populous city</a> in the state of Oklahoma so there are lots of things for tourists to do and see here. <content:encoded><![CDATA[In the early 1950's a Cleveland disc jockey named Alan Freed coined the term "rock and roll" and a new musical and cultural movement started. It is fitting that the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/rock+and+roll+hall+of+fame" rel="tag">Rock and Roll Hall of Fame</a> now thrives in Cleveland, offering visitors and students a chance to learn more about the music that has helped to shape the culture of today. Here is a brief guide of this outstanding attraction's offerings.<br><br>Located on Cleveland's lakefront on Lake Erie, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is dedicated to exploring the past, present and future of contemporary music. The museum continually augments its own collection of thousands of artifacts with items on loan from artists and collectors from around the world. More than 55,000 square-feet of exhibition space, as well as administrative offices, the Museum Store and a café are also located on the grounds.<br><br>More than 6,000,000 visitors have toured the museum since its September 1995 opening.<br><br>The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is a 150,000 square-foot building which utilizes film, video, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/interactive+kiosks" rel="tag">interactive kiosks</a> and, of course, music. Its Outdoor Plaza spans 65,000 square feet and its <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/exhibition+area" rel="tag">exhibition area</a> covers 55,000 square feet. It is the world's first museum dedicated to the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/living+heritage" rel="tag">living heritage</a> of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/rock+and+roll+music" rel="tag">rock and roll music</a>.<br><br>The museum houses intimate performance spaces, as well as a rotating display of artifact and costumes from the museum's permanent collection. Specific eras, styles and milestones are showcased, highlighting the many facets of rock and roll's evolution.<br><br>Exhibits are designed to provide the visitor with a unique, interactive experience. The collection of artifacts and costumes is enhanced by the combination of state-of-the-art technology and innovative film and video. The Museum offers a comprehensive retrospective on rock and roll's origins, development, legends and immense impact on global culture.<br><br>Visitors are taken on a fast-paced journey through the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/history+of+rock+and+roll+music" rel="tag">history of rock and roll music</a>, from one-hit wonders to legendary inductees, from its roots in gospel, country and blues to the important local music scenes in such cities as Memphis, Detroit and San Francisco.<br><br>Some displays are devoted to the pioneering rock and roll artists of the Fifties, the soul artists of the Sixties, the political protests against rock and roll and interplay between fashion and rock.<br><br>The programs include a variety of educational and cultural events, including a series of year-round concerts. The Hall of Fame series features evenings with Rock Hall Inductees. There are educational programs for everyone from toddlers to students, to teachers and adults in general.<br><br>The building was designed by the internationally renowned architect I.M. Pei. A striking state-of-the-art facility that rises above the shores of Lake Erie, its composition features bold geometric forms and dynamic cantilevered spaces that are anchored by a 162-foot tower. The tower supports a dual-triangular-shaped glass "tent" that extends (at its base) onto a 65,000 square-foot plaza, providing a dramatic main entry facade.<br><br>I.M. Pei, one of the world's most famous architects, also designed the National Gallery of Art's East Building in Washington, DC, the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston, the Museum of Modern Art in Athens, and the expansion of the Louvre in Paris, among many other buildings around the world.<br><br>The Hall of Fame's visiting hours are: 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily (open until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays). It is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. From Memorial<br><br>Day to Labor Day, the Museum is also open until 9 p.m. on Saturdays.<br><br>If you are interested in student group travel within the Midwest, then the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be on your list of "must see" destinations. It will certainly be a "big hit" with your students.<bio><a href="http://www.traveladventures.com">Travel Adventures</a> is a student tour provider staffed by educators who understand the needs of teachers. <content:encoded><![CDATA[The <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/spurs" rel="tag">Spurs</a> is the only major professional sports team that calls the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/city+of+san+antonio" rel="tag">city of San Antonio</a> their home. For this special honor, the residents of San Antonio shower their "boys" with praise and attention. In return, the Spurs team delivers an entertaining season and also gives back to the community. This is quite evident through the efforts and endeavors associated with influential personalities, such as David Robinson (Carver Academy) and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/george+gervin" rel="tag">George Gervin</a> (Youth Center). <br /><br /> It is believed that the impressive community involvement from players greatly contributes to creating one of the most loyal fan bases within the NBA. This fact is also obvious through the attendance records that the team set when they called the Astrodome their home court. They also broke records for having one of the biggest crowds in history during the 1999 <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/nba+finals" rel="tag">NBA Finals</a>. Now, they play in the ATandT Center and continue to regularly sell out seats. <br /><br /> Another unique bond that the city and team have with one another showcases one of the most important forms of respect. When celebrating championship runs or significant milestones within the sporting world, the residents of San Antonio march up and down the streets, honking horns and spreading pride with little disruption. When it comes to rejoicing after a Spurs-title win, a major riot has yet to take place. <br /><br /> Throughout the years, San Antonio has had a lot to be happy about. They have sent three players to the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/basketball+hall+of+fame" rel="tag">Basketball <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/hall+of+fame" rel="tag">Hall of Fame</a></a>: George Gervin, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/moses+malone" rel="tag">Moses Malone</a>, and Dominique Wilkins. The first of these basketball greats inducted into the Hall of Fame was George Gervin, who was nicknamed the "Iceman" during his career. In 1996, his outstanding run with the Spurs left him retiring with the second-most blocks of any guard in the NBA. <br /><br /> In 2001, Moses Malone was inducted into the Hall of Fame. By the end of his career, his longevity in the game sent him playing with two members of the Berry family (Rick in Houston; 1979 and 1980) and his son (Jon in Milwaukee; 1992 and 1993). The last of the current Hall of Famers is Dominique Wilkins, who in 2006 was inducted after leading an NBA career filled with major scoring and dunking accolades. <bio>Looking to invest in San Antonio real estate? <a href="http://www.satxproperty.com" >http://www.satxproperty.com</a> Agente de Bienes Raices en San Antonio Texas <a href="http://www.satxproperty-sp.com" >http://www.satxproperty-sp.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

I can't go, I thought, then recoiled. I set down my tea, put the book back into my black tote bag and zipped it shut. She'd never, I mean why would she?andquot; <br /><br /> andquot;Just come on, will you?andquot; Nan said so... well, so confidently. Oh yeah, that's right. I'm the journalist here. <br /><br /> I straightened by back, fumbled for the paperback and walked over to greet Nan. Yes, living life at the marrow, that's what I'd promised myself. It's my favorite quote from Thoreau's Walden: Life isn't worth living unless you can live it at the marrow. And I was doing it. Although, I could begin tomorrow... andquot;Hurry up!andquot; <br /><br /> Okay, now I'm nervous, tightly gripping my dog-eared and yellowed copy of First Lady From Plains with anticipation. In the other hand a pen, damp with perspiration. andquot; Are you sure? Do you think she'll mind?andquot; <br /><br /> andquot;Get over there next to her and I'll take your picture.andquot; <br /><br /> I looked up. Yes, there I was standing right next to her; the former First Lady <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/rosalynn+carter" rel="tag">Rosalynn Carter</a>. I was. I swear. (You can see me here: www.lauramturner.com) I'd been invited to the National Women's Hall Of Fame annual induction luncheon in Seneca Falls, New York. The best credential I'd ever earned working as a journalist. Just to be on the beat was an accomplishment, I promise you. <br /><br /> The Women's Hall pays tribute to females of experience, women of power, persuasion. Women from the likes of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/oprah" rel="tag">Oprah</a>, to legends passed such as suffragist Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks and literary giants like <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/willa+cather" rel="tag">Willa Cather</a> and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/eudora+welty" rel="tag">Eudora Welty</a>. These Great Ladies, all two hundred seventeen of them, line the walls of the National Women's Hall. Accomplished women. Women who dared. Women who live life at the marrow. <br /><br /> andquot;Oh! Hello. Good afternoon, Mrs. Carter, andquot; I stammered. andquot;Congratulations on your induction, and your accomplishments, andquot; I paused. andquot;Oh and would you mind very much signing my book. Would you? Oh and my name's Laura, by the way.andquot; I swallowed hard. Smooth, right? I finally get to meet The First Lady From Plains and there's no place at all to buy a vowel. <br /><br /> Rosalynn Carter extended her hand. I placed the pen in her grip and gazed at her like a child opening a pop-up storybook and watching the pictures come to life. andquot;Pleased to meet you, andquot; she said. <br /><br /> She signed, then placed the volume and pen back into my hands. Snap! <br /><br /> andquot;Thank you, andquot; I said smoothing the glossy cover. Nan and I returned to our seats. The former First Lady returned to her seat. And the chicken salad was served. <br /><br /><br /><br /> About The National Women's Hall Of Fame (Reference: <a href="http://www.greatwomen.org/mission.php" >http://www.greatwomen.org/mission.php</a>): <br /><br /> andquot; In 1969, a group of women and men of Seneca Falls created the National Women's Hall of Fame, believing that the contribution of American women deserved a permanent home in the small village where it all began. The National Women's Hall of Fame, a national membership organization, holds as its mission: <br /><br /> 'To honor in perpetuity these women, citizens of the United States of America whose contributions to the arts, athletics, business, education, government, the humanities, philanthropy and science, have been the greatest value for the development of their country.' <content:encoded><![CDATA[<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/" rel="tag"></a>The Horton Smith Award, established in memory of Golf Hall of Fame professional Horton Smith, recognizes outstanding contributors to golf education. One of the 2006 nominees is Eric Wilson, the director of SDGA golf school The Golf Academy of the Carolinas. <br /><br /> Every year, the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) presents an outstanding contributor to golf education with the Horton Smith Award. In selecting which candidate should receive the award, the PGA analyzes each nominee's moral character, evidence of leadership skills, and the quality of instruction the nominee has contributed to a golf school or golf education program. <br /><br /> The Horton Smith Award honors the memory of Golf Hall of Fame professional Horton Smith. Smith is known for being one of the best putters the golf industry has known. Among his many accomplishments are the 1934 Masters, the 1936 Masters, many PGA Tour victories, and places in both the World Golf Hall of Fame and the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame. Additionally, Smith served as President of the PGA of America in the 1950s and co-authored "The Secret of Holing Putts" in the early 1960s. <br /><br /> Among the nominees for the 2006 Horton Smith Award is Eric Wilson, Director of SDGA golf school The Golf Academy of the Carolinas. <br /><br /> "It is an incredible honor to just be nominated for this award, and I feel very fortunate and thankful," Wilson says. <br /><br /> A professional golfer with a distinguished track record, Wilson is highly dedicated to passing on the art of golf to his students. With the motto, "Golf is a game. Play it and have fun," Wilson teaches his students to not only play golf, but also to understand the physics of the game. Wilson is also the director of South Carolina Special Olympics Golf, and has been involved in some fashion of -- whether planning, organizing, conducting, or judging --many Special Olympics golf events. <br /><br /> Wilson, who began his career with San Diego Golf Academy in 1996, Wilson opened the SDGA -Carolina golf school campus in 1998, where he has remained as director ever since. Wilson is part of a tradition in golf education that has spanned more than 30 years. With golf schools in San Diego, Arizona, Myrtle Beach, Orlando, and Hawaii, SDGA has given more than 5,000 students the education they need to get the golf job of their dreams. To help students get their foot in the door of an exciting golf career, the SDGA-owned golf employment company, GolFutures, successfully places more than 85% of the school's graduates in golf jobs. San Diego Golf Academy is pleased to be able to offer students instruction from outstanding golf educators, such as Eric Wilson, who are dedicated to their students' education and success. <bio>Andy West is a freelance writer and marketing communications specialist. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Make sure you buy the right one! <br /><br /> Shopping for a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/music+stand" rel="tag">music stand</a> is easy. Deciding which music stand will fit your needs might not be as easy. <br /><br /> To shop for a music stand all you have to do is go to a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/music+store" rel="tag">music store</a> or do an online search. If you walk into a music store you'll see the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/music+stands" rel="tag">music stands</a> the prices for each. If you do an online search, you can see pictures of the music stands that are out there and again find out how much each one is. That is the easy part. <br /><br /> The hard part is figuring out which music stand you need. There are several different music stands that are designed very differently. <br /><br /> The opera stand is an illuminated music stand for the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/opera+singer" rel="tag">opera singer</a>. The stem on it is designed so that it does not interfere with the opera singer's feet if they sit down. The opera stands can be nested together for easy storage. <br /><br /> The wooden stand is made to match a modern or historic concert hall. These stands are made of polished metal stems and natural wood trays. These stands nest together for <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/compact+storage" rel="tag">compact storage</a> also. The jazz stand is a music stand that folds. It will fold down to the size of the tray. It is an adjustable stand for sitting or standing to play or sing. To store them, they will stand right next to each other or you can store them folded. If they are folded, they store one right on top of another. <br /><br /> The school music stand is designed for students. It is unbreakable. It does not have knobs, but rather raises and lowers easily. It has an extra lip on the tray for pencils and erasers. These also nest together for easy storage. <br /><br /> The studio stand is a modern looking stand for all types of musicians. It is like the opera stand, except it does not have the light attached to it. It is designed so that if the musician swings their legs, they will not knock the stand over. Like many of the other music stands, they are designed to be nested together for storage. <br /><br /> The scherzo stand is a foldable stand. It is made of aluminum. The aluminum makes it very lightweight for easy transportation. Now that you know how each music stand is designed, you can decide which music stand will work best for your music needs. <bio><a href="http://www.musicstandworld.com" >http://www.musicstandworld.com</a> is filled with music stand articles and wooden music stand resources </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[No matter who you are or where you've been, chances are that you've heard one or more of Aretha <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/franklin" rel="tag">Franklin</a>'s songs. Chances are also that you've had one of those classics ringing pleasurably in your head for hours on end. The <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/queen+of+soul" rel="tag">Queen of Soul</a> has that effect on people everywhere, and she's heading out on the road again this summer to provide millions of her fans with another reason to cherish her work. <br /><br /> Life Story <br /><br /> Franklin was born in Memphis on March 25, 1942. After a bit of moving around, her family settled in Detroit when Aretha was seven. She was exposed to music at an early age, and began singing in her father's church. She was soon a very popular member of the choir, and she produced her first recording at the age of 14. <br /><br /> Subsequent to this first recording, Franklin entered "adulthood" almost immediately. She signed a recording contract with <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/columbia+records" rel="tag">Columbia Records</a> and became a mother when she was 15, having her first son, Clarence, Jr. Franklin had another son, Eddie, when she was 16. <br /><br /> At this point, Franklin had to make a choice - be a full-time mother or pursue her music <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/career" rel="tag">career</a>. She chose the latter, as her grandmother helped her care for her sons while she continued to <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/record+songs" rel="tag">record songs</a>. Franklin married <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/ted+white" rel="tag">Ted White</a> in 1962 and had another son, "Teddy" White, Jr. in 1969. <br /><br /> She stayed with Columbia Records until 1967, when she moved to Atlantic Records, and the results were almost immediate due to the expanded artistic freedom she had with her new label. Franklin dabbled in gospel, soul and blues themes with her music, and several of her songs from this time period became top hits. <br /><br /> Blossoming Career <br /><br /> However, it was her RandB work that earned her the nickname, "The Queen of Soul" in the 1960's. Franklin's work with Atlantic Records made her an international star, and several of her most <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/famous+songs" rel="tag">famous songs</a>, including Respect were released during this period. <br /><br /> Franklin continued to not only tour but to record, and her career totals are astonishing. She has released a total of 52 albums, and has had 17 singles reach the Top Ten of the US Hot 100 Singles chart. <br /><br /> Franklin has also won 17 Grammy Awards in several categories, but that is far from her only entry into her list of accomplishments. Franklin became the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, and was the second woman to gain entry into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005. <br /><br /> The Queen of Soul has also been recognized by more than one President of the United States. In 1999, President Bill Clinton awarded Franklin with the National Medal of Arts, and President George W. Bush bestowed upon Franklin the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005. <br /><br /> What It All Means <br /><br /> All of these accomplishments should make it clear that Aretha Franklin is a national icon. She has appeared in movies like The Blues Brothers in 1980 and sang the national anthem in her adopted hometown of Detroit prior to Super Bowl XL. <br /><br /> Her songs are timeless, and the memories from her live shows live on in the minds of all who are lucky enough to be able to attend a concert. Franklin will be providing those same memories this summer. <bio>Written by Jay Nault sponsored by <a href="<a href="http://www.stubhub.com/">http://www.stubhub.com/</a>"><a href="http://www.stubhub.com/">http://www.stubhub.com/</a>.</a>. <content:encoded><![CDATA[ If you are a classical musician, opera singer, jazz performer, or pop group, you may have grown up dreaming of one day performing at the world famous <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/carnegie+hall" rel="tag">Carnegie Hall</a>. For over a hundred years, Carnegie Hall has been a status symbol of the highest echelons of musical taste and appreciation. <br /><br /> Carnegie Hall bears the name of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/andrew+carnegie" rel="tag">Andrew Carnegie</a>, who originally had it built to house the Oratorio Society of New York and the New York Symphony Society. Carnegie, who was famous for his philanthropy, served on the boards of both organizations. The great hall opened its doors on May 5, 1891 and featured the famous composer <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/peter+tchaikovsky" rel="tag">Peter Tchaikovsky</a> conducting his musical works. <br /><br /> Quite a prestigious beginning for a music hall. Over the years, many famous performers have appeared at Carnegie Hall, such as <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/duke+ellington" rel="tag">Duke Ellington</a>, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Yo-Yo Ma and yes, even the Beatles! <br /><br /> Carnegie Hall houses three concert halls and a museum. The Main Hall seats 2,804 people and is five levels. If you don't want to walk up 100+ stairs, you can always take the elevator. This is where all the big concerts are held. The acoustics are marvelous. The late classical violinist, Isaac Stern, once said about the acoustics "It takes what you do and makes it larger than life." <br /><br /> The love that Isaac Stern had for Carnegie Hall is evident as you'll see that the Main Hall is now called the Isaac Stern Auditorium. Believe it or not, Carnegie Hall was slated for demolition in 1960, but due to the efforts of Stern, it was saved and eventually purchased by the City of New York for $5 million. <br /><br /> The other two halls are much smaller and suitable for more intimate performances. Zankel Hall seats 599 and the newer Weil Hall seats 268. You can also visit the Rose Museum, which houses the Carnegie Archives, artifacts and memorabilia of the buildings history and performances. <br /><br /> When you reach the great hall, located at <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/seventh+avenue" rel="tag">Seventh Avenue</a> and West 57th Street, you'll immediately admire its Italian Renaissance style architecture. The hall was even designed by a musician, an amateur cellist named William Tuthill. <br /><br /> Just a short walk around the corner is the Steinway Building, which displays some beautifully crafted Steinway pianos, the same type of pianos that are often used by Carnegie Hall performers. <br /><br /> There are over 100 performances a season held at Carnegie Hall. If you have your heart set on attending a concert there, be aware that you'll need to buy your tickets way in advance, because they tend to sell out quickly. If you are lucky enough to attend an event at Carnegie, you'll enjoy some of the world's finest musical performances while admiring its splendor. <bio>Cruise the beautiful Hawaiian Islands =96 even if you're on a budget <a href="http://www.last-minute-hawaii-cruise.com" >http://www.last-minute-hawaii-cruise.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[If you've never used <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/billy+joel" rel="tag">Billy Joel</a> tickets, you've missed out on seeing a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/music+legend" rel="tag">music legend</a> live. Billy Joel has been filling venues and thrilling crowds with his unique style of classically-influenced music for more than 30 years, and he's back on the road once again to the delight of millions of fans.<br /><br />Joel has lived a fascinating life, and a closer look at it may help explain how he ascended to the level of icon in the music world. <br /><br /> Early Life <br /><br /> William Martin "Billy" Joel was born on May 9, 1949, in the Bronx, New York, and he had a full-on New York City upbringing.<br /><br />Joel's family history is one of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/trials+and+tribulations" rel="tag">trials and tribulations</a>, as his father, Howard Joel, was a World War II holocaust survivor and his mother was from England. Ultimately, his parents divorced, and Joel's father moved back to Europe afterwards.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Joel became <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/fascinated" rel="tag">fascinated</a> with music at an early age, and his genre of choice was European classical. Even though he <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/loved+music" rel="tag">loved music</a>, he was not happy at all that his mother forced him to take piano lessons. Despite his resistance, however, the piano skills Joel acquired during this time would serve him well in his career. <br /><br /> Joel's interest in music also led to his being <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/ostracized" rel="tag">ostracized</a> to an extent by his peers, as most of the children in his neighborhood were avid sports fans and participants. Joel's pursuit of music led to several instances of being picked on and bullied, and Joel ultimately grew tired of this treatment. He decided to do something about it by taking up boxing, and enjoyed a successful amateur stint on the Golden Gloves circuit before breaking his nose during a fight and deciding to dedicate himself to music. <br /><br /> Musical Beginnings <br /><br /> As Joel began high school, he also began to put his musical talents on display. He joined his first band, The Echoes, at the age of 14, and three years later he moved on to The Hassles, and this band released two albums before disbanding in 1969. Joel's next band was a duet with Hassles drummer Jon Small called <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/attila" rel="tag">Attila</a>.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Attila released its debut album in 1970, but disbanded a few months later, and this created great distress for Joel. He fell into a deep depression, and even attempted suicide by ingesting furniture polish. He stayed in the hospital for months, and was ultimately released in 1971. <br /><br /> Upon his release, Joel decided to embark on a solo career. He signed his first recording contract later in 1971 and began to record and release albums. Although it took some time for his work to become a commercial success, his live act was already widely renowned, and Billy Joel tickets were a hot item immediately.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Period of Success <br /><br /> Joel released his first solo album, Cold Spring Harbor, in 1971, and it was a moderate success that gained air play on the radio. <content:encoded><![CDATA[ If you've never used <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/billy+joel" rel="tag">Billy Joel</a> tickets, you've missed out on seeing a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/music+legend" rel="tag">music legend</a> live. Billy Joel has been filling venues and thrilling crowds with his unique style of classically-influenced music for more than 30 years, and he's back on the road once again to the delight of millions of fans. Joel has lived a fascinating life, and a closer look at it may help explain how he ascended to the level of icon in the music world. <br /><br /> Early Life <br /><br /> William Martin "Billy" Joel was born on May 9, 1949, in the Bronx, New York, and he had a full-on New York City upbringing. Joel's family history is one of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/trials+and+tribulations" rel="tag">trials and tribulations</a>, as his father, Howard Joel, was a World War II <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/holocaust+survivor" rel="tag">holocaust survivor</a> and his mother was from England. Ultimately, his parents divorced, and Joel's father moved back to Europe afterwards.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Joel became fascinated with music at an early age, and his genre of choice was European classical. He joined his first band, The Echoes, at the age of 14, and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/three+years+later" rel="tag">three years later</a> he moved on to The Hassles, and this band released two albums before disbanding in 1969. Joel's next band was a duet with Hassles drummer Jon Small called Attila.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Attila released its debut album in 1970, but disbanded a few months later, and this created great distress for Joel. However, this only set the stage for his next release, which would instantly make him a legend. In 1973, Joel released Piano Man, and the album remains one of the most beloved and respected musical works in the world today. Since then, he has released more than two dozen additional works, and almost all of them sold over one million copies.<br /><br /><br /><br /> In all, he has sold over 100 million records, won six Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. He has also been married to super models like Christie Brinkley and continues to play his live acts as if he was in an intimate cocktail lounge.<br /><br /><br /><br /> All in all, Billy Joel tickets will expose you to an artist who knows all about struggle, failure and success, and every night with him is a night to remember. <bio>Written by Jay Nault, sponsored by <a href="http://www.stubhub.com/" >http://www.stubhub.com/</a> . <content:encoded><![CDATA[One of the most important things you need to consider during your wedding planning is the decorations of your reception hall. In fact, you have to consider a lot of issues when you are designing the decorations. The first thing you have to do is of course to ask if there is any restriction on the decorations from the venue. Of course you will also need to think about your budget. If you are on a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/tight+budget" rel="tag">tight budget</a>, you may need to purchase the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/decoration+materials" rel="tag">decoration materials</a> and decorate the reception hall yourself.<br><br>When you are thinking of the decorations, you should also consider your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/wedding+theme" rel="tag">wedding theme</a>. You have to make sure that the decorations will match your wedding theme. This is probably the most important thing for the design of your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/reception+hall+decoration" rel="tag">reception hall decoration</a>.<br><br>If your budget allows, you should consider hiring a company to help you to decorate your reception hall. This is because you will be already very busy planning your every detail of your wedding. You will not really have the time to decorate the hall yourself. If you have some ideas for your decoration in mind, you should discuss with the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/decoration+company" rel="tag">decoration company</a> so that they can help you to do what you want to do. However, it is also very important for you to hire a company which is of very good reputation. This is very essential when you are choosing the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/wedding+vendors" rel="tag">wedding vendors</a>. You should always stick to companies which are of good reputations.<br><br>You may consider decorating your reception hall based on your hobbies. This can be a very interesting idea. However, even if you do so, you have to make sure that the decorations will match your wedding theme. Of course you can also make your wedding theme based on your hobbies and this will certainly make your reception a unique and special one.<br><br>For example, if you are someone who loves oil painting very much, you can decorate your reception hall such that it will look like an <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/oil+painting+gallery" rel="tag">oil painting gallery</a>. This will certainly make your reception extremely unique.<br><br>On the other hand, if you love taking photos, you may decorate your reception hall and make it look like a photo gallery. Of course in this case you will not just get some photos and put them in the reception hall. You will try to choose photos taken by yourself and put them in the hall. This will make your reception more interesting. Your guests will be amazed when they know that the photos were taken by you. You will make your wedding reception an exhibition of your own work!<br><br>However, you have always bear in mind that if you try to decorate your reception hall based on your hobbies, you should never just do something and pretend that it is your hobby. If you are not a person who loves painting, you should not make your reception hall like an art gallery. This is because you are trying to make your wedding reflect your hobbies, as well as personalities. You will just miss the point if you just make something up!<bio>TM Lung designs <a href="http://www.983wedding.com/">Free Wedding Invitation Templates</a>. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Musicians for your Wedding <br /><br /> Another important part of organizing the music for your wedding is choosing musicians to <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/play+the+music" rel="tag">play the music</a> you have chosen. If you have a family member who is an excellent musician, you may want to have them play a piece for your wedding ceremony, but be sure to steer clear of being talked into having your second cousin's daughter playing if you are not sure of her skills. If choosing a family member, make sure that you have heard them play and that they are qualified to play your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/wedding+music" rel="tag">wedding music</a> or you may end up in a wedding day disaster. <br /><br /> The musicians that you hire for your wedding may depend on what <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/style+of+music" rel="tag">style of music</a> you have chosen for your wedding. If you are going for a very classical style of music you may want to hire a string quartet or a brass or <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/woodwind+quintet" rel="tag">woodwind quintet</a>. If you want your processional to have <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/organ+music" rel="tag">organ music</a>, then you may need to hire an organist as well. You may also want to hire a pianist for your wedding, especially if you are having people sing in your wedding. If the wedding is an important part of your ceremony, make sure that you can have at least some of the musicians available at the wedding rehearsal to make sure that everything goes smoothly the next day. <br /><br /> Choosing a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/dj" rel="tag">DJ</a> <br /><br /> Many people decide to choose a DJ for their wedding reception instead of live music because it is a great deal cheaper than hiring a full band and usually you can get a greater variety of music as well. There are many <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/djs" rel="tag">DJs</a> to choose from for your wedding reception, but you want to make sure that you get the very best. When choosing a DJ you may want to check with friends and family who have had weddings recently and see if they have a recommendation. You can also check with a wedding planner or even with your reception hall to see if they have any DJs that they would recommend. <br /><br /> Once you have a few names for consideration you will want to interview each of the DJs and ask to see video of any weddings they have done in the past. Make sure that you get along well and that the DJ is easy to work with and will take your suggestions. Other things to check into when hiring a DJ is the cost, making sure they will be dressed appropriately, and the amount of experience they have doing weddings. <br /><br /> Remember that your wedding is your special day, and you want to make sure that everything goes well. Make sure that you pick the music you want for your wedding and find musicians and DJs that are experienced and professional. You want your wedding day to be perfect, so spend time in the beginning choosing the right music and the right people to perform that music at your wedding. A little time spent before your wedding deal with choosing and organizing your music can save you from a wedding day disaster. <bio>Visit <a href="http://www.soundimagedjs.com/" >http://www.soundimagedjs.com/</a> for a great Sacramento Wedding DJ </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[When I was a kid growing up, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/vinyl+records" rel="tag">vinyl records</a> were the primary source used by <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/music+lovers" rel="tag">music lovers</a> to listen to their favorite <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/songs" rel="tag">songs</a>. Eight tracks had been going out of style fairly rapidly and the latest trend was the cassette tape. Even with the passing of the eight tracks and the emergence of the cassette tape, many music lovers still kept with traditional vinyl records for their listening pleasure. <br /><br /> We have certainly come a long way since those heady days of vinyl records. Compact discs (CDs) are <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/all+the+rage" rel="tag">all the rage</a> today, and with good reason. The sound quality is truly pure and clear, and you almost feel as if you are in a sound-proof room when you focus your listening solely on the CD player. The clean, crisp sound that comes out is a huge improvement from the vinyl records that crackled as they played. <br /><br /> However, it is that <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/crackling+sound" rel="tag">crackling sound</a> that is only offered by the vinyl records that I find so appealing. There is something about that sound that is so neat and even soothing to listen to especially when I'm in a nostalgic mood. Perhaps it is due to the crackling sound which is tied so closely to the songs I loved when I was a child. I simply cannot separate the two. <br /><br /> I actually took notice of my love for that unique antique sounds of the crackling vinyl records by accident. A really good friend of mine had offered to be the disc jockey for my wedding without charge. Of course I did not refuse the kind wedding gift. However there was a catch. My friend played only vinyl records, nothing else. <br /><br /> This was certainly not a problem for me. I had wanted to skip all of the trendy pop-<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/chart+music" rel="tag">chart music</a> of today and focus on older dance music and classic songs available on vinyl records. My friend started playing dinner songs at the reception. He chose classic Irish music during the wedding meal. <br /><br /> The whole reception hall had kept silent during the prayer. And once the prayer had ended, the DJ slowly placed the needle on the record and the quiet room began filling up with soft crackling sounds followed by lovely Irish music. The transition was magnificent and the memory of the moment the crackling sounds overtook the reception hall still gives me chills. You simply can not replicate that with a compact disc. <br /><br /> Technologically, we have come a long way when it comes to music. However, we should not completely let go of the little gems from our past. The haunting sounds of the crackling vinyl records help us truly touch the past even if for just a moment. <bio>Glen B. <content:encoded><![CDATA[ <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/some+people+prefer" rel="tag">Some people prefer</a> to meditate silently without any music but there are others who prefer to meditate with music. Different people like <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/different+music" rel="tag">different music</a> to meditate by. Some like to have music playing in the background while they meditate while others like the form of meditation that involves making music to meditate by. <br /><br /> Meditation is a simple and easy art and even children can easily practice it. With music to meditate by meditation can be made even more interesting for children. You get a choice of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/meditation+music" rel="tag">meditation music</a> that is especially meant for children. <br /><br /> Whatever form of meditation you choose, it is important to remember that music to meditate by should be simple, calm, soothing and peaceful. It should induce feelings of inner peace and help you to focus. Loud music to meditate by is destructive and unproductive. It is distracting and creates feelings of chaos. The most popular musical instruments associated with meditation include the sitar, flute, Tibetan singing bow and the tambora. <br /><br /> While some people <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/use+music" rel="tag">use music</a> to meditate by, there are many musicians who use meditation to calm themselves and to stay focused before any major performance. If you are using music as a means of meditation, you should try and stop doing everything else and just focus on the music in order to get the full benefits of the music. It also helps you to enjoy the music more. <br /><br /> If you are looking for music to meditate by, there are plenty on online websites that offer different kinds of meditation music that you can buy. Some websites allow you to listen to a sample of the music so you can decide if that is what you are looking for. There are even a few websites that offer <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/free+mp3+downloads" rel="tag">free mp3 downloads</a> of music to meditate by. Just do an internet search on meditation music and you are sure to find something that is just right for you. <bio>Find out more about meditation music and lots of other resources to help you <a href="http://hubpages.com/hub/Learn_How_To_Meditate" >http://hubpages.com/hub/Learn_How_To_Meditate</a> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/learn+how+to+meditate" rel="tag">learn <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/how+to+meditate" rel="tag">how to meditate</a></a>. </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ If you're like most people who take piano lessons, you do! ?Whether you're young or old or somewhere in between, you aspire to make beautiful music and... right away! <br /><br /> ?You've probably heard the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/old+joke" rel="tag">old joke</a>: ? "How do you get to <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/carnegie+hall" rel="tag">Carnegie Hall</a>?" asks the inquisitive tourist. ?"Practice, practice, practice!" replies the wise old responder.? ?But wouldn't you much prefer to learn the secret to sounding good just for your own satisfaction and enjoyment? ??That's probably why you take piano lessons=85 However, most <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/piano+students" rel="tag">piano students</a> forget to pay attention to the very areas that would enable them to sound great! <br /><br /> ?Do you do one or more of the following? <br /><br /> 1. Ignore the timing by not counting or tapping your foot. <br /><br /> 2. Play everything at the same volume. <br /><br /> 3. Disregard the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/key+signature" rel="tag">key signature</a> and just start playing the piece. <br /><br /> 4. Use too much pedal. <br /><br /> 5. "Type" or bang the keys and disconnect one note from another. <br /><br /> 6. Allow the accompaniment (usually the left hand part) to overpower or drown out the melody. <br /><br /> 7. Listen to talk radio instead of spending some of your time listening to music. <br /><br /> If you recognized any of the above habits as things you do, congratulations! ?Now you know why you aren't sounding like a pro yet. <br /><br /> (Parents: Have you noticed these traits in your children who take lessons?) <br /><br /> Obviously, you want to sound good! (And you parents want your kids to sound good, don't you?) ??So instead of treating <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/piano+practice" rel="tag">piano practice</a> like a chore, here are seven ways to start you on the way to Carnegie Hall: <br /><br /> 1. Pay attention to the timing: count or tap your foot. <br /><br /> 2. Notice the dynamics (indications for differences in volume) and follow them. <br /><br /> 3. Look at the key signature before you start to play and mark all of the sharps or flats if you need to. <br /><br /> 4. Use the pedal with care. (Pedal changes are often marked in <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/classical+pieces" rel="tag">classical pieces</a>, and should be made in songs with each <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/chord+change" rel="tag">chord change</a>.) <br /><br /> 5. Employ correct fingering as you work towards playing smoothly and connected (unless the music asks for staccato: detached playing). <br /><br /> 6. Listen for the melody. Can you always hear it while you are playing? <br /><br /> 7. Focus on spending some time listening to music every week. (With wonderful tools like iPods, MP3 players and the internet, it's easy to find recorded versions of the pieces that you play as well as music that motivates and inspires you.) Give these suggestions a try. ?Start today. ?You'll be surprised at how much better you sound! <br /><br /> Copyright =A9 2007 by Ed Mascari <a href="http://www.edmascaripianostudio.com" >http://www.edmascaripianostudio.com</a> <bio>Ed Mascari has been teaching piano privately to children and adults for nearly three decades. A look at their history will help to explain how they achieved a status that few acts have ever experienced.<br /><br /><br /><br /> The Beginning <br /><br /> The band began to come together in 1977, when drummer <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stewart+copeland" rel="tag">Stewart Copeland</a> left his former band and joined with Sting to begin to work on some songs. Each of them shared a heavy influence from the world of reggae, and that shared vision led to many of the tones and beats in their upcoming tracks.<br /><br /><br /><br /> After bouncing around for a few years, the band ultimately began to gain acclaim by touring Australia, which was the first country in which they gained a loyal following. Their live shows were widely-attended, and for the first time, The Police tickets were in demand. Their first album release, Outlandos d'Amour, was released in 1978 under a very <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/tight+budget" rel="tag">tight budget</a> and much struggle, but the release ultimately hit several charts and gained some fame for the band.<br /><br /><br /><br /> The following year, the band released Reggatta de Blanc, and this release was even more successful than their initial cut, as the band had the backing of a big-time record label at this point and enjoyed the fruits of a much more highly-budgeted <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/publicity+campaign" rel="tag">publicity campaign</a>. Their third release, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/zenyatta+mondatta" rel="tag">Zenyatta Mondatta</a>, which came out in 1980, and it was another success. Another album, Ghost in the Machine, released in 1981, climbed to the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/top+of+the+charts" rel="tag">top of the charts</a> in 1981, and all of this success set the stage for their next album, which ultimately cemented The Police as legends.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Superstardom<br /><br /><br /><br /> In 1983, the band released an album that would go a long way towards defining the music of that time period. Synchronicity was an album that shot to the top of the charts in several countries around the world, contained several singles that rose to the top of the charts, and made the band a household name in nearly every home that had a radio.<br /><br /><br /><br /> The band staged a worldwide tour in furtherance of this album, but after it competed in 1984, the band members slowly-but-surely began to move in separate directions. Although they never "officially" broke up, they never recorded another full-length studio album.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Results of Success <br /><br /> The band got together every now and then for a few benefit concerts, as Sting was and is extremely active with several causes, and ultimately, The Police were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, and several documentaries were produced that traced the steps of the band towards their ultimate stardom and fame.<br /><br /><br /><br /> In 2007, The Police will be getting together one more time for another tour. This tour is being met with a high degree of anticipation, and the mere fact that The Police tickets are available once again is sure to fill stadiums around the world. <bio>Written by Jay Nault, sponsored by <a href="http://www.stubhub.com/" >http://www.stubhub.com/</a> .
