Blue Mountain coffee beans are widely thought to be the pinnacle of coffee. With unmatched taste, richness, and completeness, most who try the blue mountain coffee agree it is one of the best blends in the world. As such, Blue Mountain coffee makes a fantastic gift to any coffee lover, and it is ideal for special occasions.

Unfortunately, Blue Mountain coffee is not the easiest to get. Because of the limited area that the beans grow (the Blue Mountains in Jamaica) the quantities produced are limited. The coffee has also undergone some controversy through its life, starting with the Japanese investing heavily in the industry, causing what many believed to be an overproduction of the coffee, and a subsequent drop in it's quality. The bean was traditionally wet-processed, which took more time than the short-cut versions implemented at a growing number of mills. Blue Mountain coffee became more readily accessible, but the quality dropped.

The Blue Mountain coffee bean has since been making a come back to its previous excellence (and in truth, it was never really a bad roast) through the efforts of the Jamaican Coffee Board. They began allowing individual coffee farmers to produce their own coffee (rather than sending it through a central processing farm) which has resulted in some distinct Blue Mountain area blends. While all the beans are Blue Mountain, there can be subtle differences depending on which estate you buy from.

Which unfortunately brings up another tricky item when buying Blue Mountain beans - many places will do something like put a small percentage of Blue Mountain beans in with another bean, and call it Blue Mountain. They can then sell this much cheaper than real Blue Mountain costs, which fools people into buying inferior coffee. The best way to protect yourself? Make sure that the coffee you buy has the Jamaican Coffee Board seal on it. You can also tell by the price - if it seems like its cheap, it probably isn't pure Blue Mountain. Just remember that you get what you pay for. <bio>Adrian is a coffee enthusiast who maintains various sites.
Some of the best things about Italy are found completely within the Western Alps, if you're a hiker. Of course there's the country's highest peak, which no hiker can resist. Then there is Italy's oldest national park, also found in the Western Alps. Count the amazing variety of flora and fauna, the alpine meadows, and accessible yet remote wilderness areas, and you have the perfect setting for a hiker's dream vacation in beautiful Italy. Discover Colonna mine or encounter wildlife throughout Vallone del Grand Nomenon. Reach your personal goals and try for the six-day trek along the Alta Via 2, known as a particularly challenging route. From Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso (Gran Paradiso National Park) to Valle d'Aosta, to Monte Bianco (the highest peak in Europe), there is a series of wonderful pathways for hikers and walkers who will find that traversing the Western Alps to be the experience of a lifetime.

Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso will stun you with its beauty: deep lateral peaks and plunging valleys below will amaze even the most seasoned hiker. The valleys were cut by glaciers, which left behind the jagged silhouettes and sharp peaks for which the Alps in general have become famous. There are numerous glaciers still within Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso, including Italy's highest mountain, Gran Paradiso.

Gran Paradiso is just about 13,324 feet high and full of magnificent larch. Larch is a deciduous conifer, the only type found in all of Europe. Some trees get to be over one hundred feet tall and great stands of larch form sweeping green canopies in the sky which will protect you from the sun as you walk or hike the mountain. Besides larch, hikers will welcome Norway spruce, Arolla pine, and silver fir. The Arolla pine should be especially revered because it's in decline here in Italy. Furniture makers and others crave the beautiful wood for their products, and the pine has been exploited for many years.

Gran Paradiso also hosts several species of birds that are rarely, if ever, found anywhere else in Europe. Take the Bearded Vulture, which was hunted almost to extinction in the 1800s because it was thought to feed on domestic animals. Since the 1970's, however, it's been reintroduced and is now making a comeback. Also, while scaling the mountain, keep an eye out for white partridges, owl, jackdaw, alpine chaffinch, and spotted woodpecker. You might even see a lynx if you get to the higher, rocky areas during summertime. When it's cooler, they come down into the valleys.

Getting to Alle d'Aosta is easy: take a SAVDA bus from Torino (Turin) or Milan. It's also near France's Annecy, Chamonix, and Vald'Isere, and Switzerland's Martigny, if you're in either of those neighboring areas. There are also regional trains to Aosta, via Chivasso if you're leaving from Milan. You can also drive: take the A5 from either Turin or Milan.

Accommodations in Valle d'Aosta include moderately-priced small hotels around Aosta and in the suburb of Sarre. Use any one of these as you base, and enjoy the wonderful experience of hiking Italy's Western Alps, and Valle d'Aosta. <bio>Macchi http://www.keywestvacationguide.com/ </bio>

Where free riders and downhill bikers use four wheel bikes and ski lifts to get them to their destination, cross country bikers get to the top of the mountain by the ride.

Though free riding is very popular, the life vein of the sport has always been cross country biking. Just as cross country riders are a different breed, the bikes they ride are as well. The cross country bike is completely different in many ways from other types of mountain riding bikes. The premise for cross country riders is speed. Everything about their bikes revolve with the idea of making the bikes faster and faster. Bikes used in cross country mountain biking can be fully rigid frame, hardtails, or even full suspension frames.

Through the years, the cross over to full suspension has become very popular. The weight difference between free ride bikes and cross country bikes are considerable. You'll be extremely hard pressed to find a bike that weighs more than 24 pounds, and even that weight can be heavy. Free ride bkes weigh close to 40 pounds, which makes the difference in weight pretty close.

If you've never tried cross country mountain biking, you'll probably find it to be a break from the ordinary. Even though this type of biking involves trails, it's normally the type of terrain that beginners wouldn't want to ride. Involving hills and rough terrain, cross country biking offers quite the rush.

For mountain bikers everywhere, cross country is the way to go. It offers you a new assortment of bikes, new areas to bike, and a new twist to mountain biking as you know it.

If you've been looking for a mountain biking rush, cross country mountain biking is what you need to be experiencing. <bio>Andy Manifield is the owner of http://on-mountain-biking.com, THE best source of information on the subject.
Once you've got a train layout set up on a flat table, you might want to make it more interesting by adding some mountains and hills. There are a couple of ways to do this, and they are both easy.

Papier-M=E2ch=E9 Method

If your layout is temporary, or you don't want to spend much money, you can use the papier-m=E2ch=E9 method. Basically, you just scrunch up some newspapers into the general shape of the hill or mountain, then cover them with sheets of newspaper dipped in papier-m=E2ch=E9 paste.

The traditional method of making papier-m=E2ch=E9 paste is to add one part water to one part flour. Some people prefer to boil the paste, saying that it makes the consistency smoother. Water to flour ratio is changed to five parts water to one part flour in this case. Other people use a three to one or a one to one ratio of water and polyvinyl acetate wood glue. Still others say that starch makes a fine paste. Adding a dash of cinnamon to the mixture gives the paste a pleasant smell; adding a dash of salt and sugar reduces the chances of the product developing mould.

You simply dip sheets of newspaper (fold them a couple of times to make them thicker) in the paste and drape them over the scrunched up newspapers. The sheets will be soft and pliable, so mould them into hills and valleys as you like. Let the papier-m=E2ch=E9 dry overnight. You will find that it is hard and rigid, like a pi=F1ata.

Paint it with a water-based paint in shades of green (for grass) and brown (for dirt) and grey (for rock). You can also use spray paint, but make sure it is matte, not glossy, paint. While the paint is still wet, sprinkle some grass (available at the hobby shop) or green-coloured sawdust. When the paint is dry, add some lichen for bushes and trees (also available at any hobby shop).

Window Screening and Wooden Supports

If your train layout is permanent, a more durable method of making mountains and hills is to use screening and wooden supports. This also has the advantage that you can run tracks on the mountain itself, providing you make the appropriate supports. Basically, you cut wooden support blocks to the appropriate size, then drape window screening (called "fly screen" in Australia) over the blocks, stapling the screen to the blocks. You should fasten the blocks to the table with screws or nails first, so they don't move around.

If you want, you can build a second track bed around or through the mountain, elevated above the table. Simply use support blocks and plywood to make a rigid base for the track.

Once the screening is in place, pinch it in places to make rugged edges, ditches, and valleys. Then mix up some common household plaster (available at any hardware store to fix holes in a plaster wall) and slobber it over the screen. There is no need to be careful, just make sure all the screen is covered. A thicker plaster mix works much better than a thin mix, as the latter allows the screen to show through.

When you get to the rugged vertical bits, use horizontal strokes of a knife to simulate rock cuts. Let the plaster dry overnight and then paint as described above.

Finally, finish it off with lichen bushes and trees as appropriate.

Don't Forget Access

When you are deciding how big to make your mountain, and where to place it, also think about derailments. Murphy's Law guarantees that, at some point, your train is going to derail in the tunnel through your mountain. Make sure the tunnel entrance is large enough so you can reach in and get your train out.

Or consider these alternatives: If you have made a papier-m=E2ch=E9 mountain, and not glued it to the table, you can simply lift it off the table.

If you have made a permanent wood block and wire screen mountain, then consider cutting access holes in the table, below the mountain, so you can reach in and right the train or remove it. Don't make the holes too close to the track, because if the train does derail at that spot, you don't want it to fall through the hole onto the floor. <bio>Doug Anderson has been making mountains out of mole hills for more than 50 years.
There are many different kinds and styles of mountain bikes that you have to choose from, one of the most popular being the folding mountain bike. The folding mountain bike is extremely popular for a number of different reasons, namely that it is so incredibly mobile. After all typically when you go mountain biking you go to desolate and remote areas, and so you do not have a great means of transportation for your bike.

This means that if you need to get it over an especially rough area of terrain or over water for instance, that you will have to physically carry it, and this can be incredibly difficult, which is why the folding mountain bike is so ideal.

Any folding mountain bike typically looks just like any other mountain bike, only they are patented to be able to fold into a compact and easy to carry size within 30 seconds, and without the use of tools. When you buy a folding mountain bike for yourself you are joining the growing number of riders who openly enjoy taking their folding bike wherever their spirit of adventure takes them, and it also allows riders who are not necessarily that strong, for instance many women and children, to be able to keep up with the other riders.

If you are interested in purchasing a folding bike for yourself, then there are several great companies you should take note of. One in particular is Montague, which is a company that is known as being the world's leading manufacturer of folding bikes. They are continually expanding their product line and partnerships and are definitely one of the most affordable options here as well.

Another great company offering these folding mountain bikes is Evans Cycles, a company that is known for being the largest independent bicycle dealer in the UK, and as well one of the largest mail order departments. Their range of bikes covers mountain bikes from leading brands such as Specialized, Trek, Kona and Saracen, just to name a few.

The folding mountain bikes are definitely worthwhile, and definitely worth the price that you will pay for them, especially when you consider the comfort and convenience that they are going to bring you. Just make sure that you take your time when deciding on a company to buy your folding bike from, so that you can get the best quality and value possible.

For buying and selling used or new (second hand) bikes and motorcycles check the link http://www.bharathautomobiles.com/motorcycles-s2_0.html <bio>James Gunaseelan writes for leading auto portal in India http://BharathAutomobiles.com </bio>

The Stone Mountain Park got its name from the Stone Mountain, which is a granite stone rock. The Stone Mountain is located in the suburbs of Atlanta. The height of the mountain is about 513m. Most people believe that the Stone Mountain is the largest granite stone in the world. But, when you compare the Stone Mountain with the El Capitan in Yosemite, you will discover that it is just one fourth the height of the El Capitan Mountain in Yosemite, which is the tallest granite stone on earth.

The Stone Mountain is about 8km, if you want to go round. To reach the top of the mountain easily, use the sky ride. On the top of the mountain, you may find pools of water formed from the gathering of rainwater. At certain periods of the year the visibility of the Stone Mountain is limited because of fog which covers the whole place. There are some tiny Shrimp in the pools of water on the mountain. The tiny shrimp usually dies when the pools of water dries off and you can only find but their eggs, which are to survive when it rains again.

The Georgia State owns the Stone Mountain Park, which is managed by an association called the Stone Mountain Memorial Association. The operation of the park and the different attractions is been done by a corporation called the "Herschend Family Entertainment.

In 1996, some of the summer Olympic events took place in the stone mountain park, some of the events where table tennis and long tennis , Archer, and cycling just to name a few. There is also a museum which operates near the Stone Mountain memorial association (SMMA), called the Confederate Hall, whose objective is to educate visitors on how the Stone Mountain is. That is the ecology and geology. They also educate their visitor on the history of Georgia. Fishing, Picnic site camping etc. are some of the offers provided to visitors.

There are some commercial operators who offer attractions which may include:

1) The scenic railroad, which surrounds the entire mountain and facilitates the movement round the mountain.

2) The sky ride is cable-car which carries people to the top of the mountain.

3) The riverboat which is found in the Stone Mountain Lake.

4) The Antebellum Plantation and Farmyard are buildings which were built around the 1790 and 1845.

5) There is also a broadcast tower, which is found on the top of the mountain and transmits signals to two stations. That is the WGTV Channel 8 and Weatheradio Station.

It will be very good for all the inhabitants of Atlanta and visitors to really visit the Stone Mountain Park, for there are many things that you are going to learn there and even see.

This park remains one of the most important attractions in the Metro Atlanta area. Thousands of people visit the park everyday with their families and friends. Kids especially love the park, because of the many activities designed specifically for them. There's always some occasion going on at the park. You may want to check their website at stonemountainpark.com, before you visit Atlanta, to put the park on your list of places to visit. <bio>Eric Mabo is an Atlanta foreclosures Expert.
The sport of mountain biking, as an enjoyable and relaxing outdoor activity, is attracting ever-increasing numbers of every age and background. There are many organized outdoor events and competitions which include on their list of activities both mountain biking and endurance mountain biking.

Endurance mountain biking is a form of exercise appropriate only for those in the peak of condition; a single competition, depending on its category, can continue for up to twelve hours.

Endurance mountain biking, therefore, is reserved for professional bikers who have proven that they are up to the demands involved. How is an endurance mountain biking event structured?

Categories

Endurance mountain biking events are divided into three categories according to their length. There are three-hour, six-hour, and twelve=96hour races; the three-hour races are restricted to solo men and solo women. The six-hour events are open to either solo men and solo women, or duos--two riders of either sex; and twelve-hour races allow the broadest range of riders. They can be solo men or women; duos of either sex; solo single speeders--either one man or one woman; a women's team of between two and four women; and an open team of two to four riders of either sex. For more info see http://www.mountainbikingreviews.com/All_About_Mountain_Biking/ on All About Mountain Biking

Endurance mountain biking events require that the competitors register with the organizers beforehand, and, in some cases, submit to physicals. They are also required to have their own approved safety equipment, including gloves, helmets, and knee pads. They are expected to wear accepted biking attire, with completely enclosed shoes and the endurance mountain biking event's designated T-shirt.

Endurance Mountain Biking Safety Measures

Safety is one of the overriding factors in endurance mountain biking events, and the bikers are expected to keep every part of their bikes in prime shape, from the tires to the handlebars. Neither reflectors nor kickstands are permitted; headsets, adjusted hubs, sound frames, and true wheels are also prohibited. Headphones, Walkmans, or any other sound devices are forbidden.

If you'd like to become involved with endurance mountain biking, look for a mountain biking club in your area and approach them with your questions. There's' a vast amount of information on endurance mountain biking, and you'll need to learn about everything from the basic rules, to the local event scheduling and locations.

You can get started by visiting the Internet sites different mountain biking groups, and if you work very hard and have the ability, may find yourself a member of an endurance mountain biking team! <bio>You can also find more info on http://www.mountainbikingreviews.com/Mountain_Biking_Gear/ on Mountain Biking Gear and http://www.mountainbikingreviews.com/Mountain_Biking_Trails/ on Mountain Biking Trails. http://Mountainbikingreviews.com is a comprehensive resource to know more about mountain biking. </bio>

Mountain bikes can open up an entirely new world to you. There are paths and trails all over the world that you can explore from the back of your mountain bike.

The popularity of mountain bikes and mountain biking has greatly increased over the last ten years. This is somewhat due to the increased interest in the X games, which features the sport of mountain biking. Millions of fans of all ages enjoy watching a participating in this sport of mountain bikes.

It is an adventurous exhilarating sport that can be quite dangerous, but it doesnand#8217;t stop the millions of people from starting riding mountain bikes each and every year.

Mountain bikes have come a long way in design and style. The mountain bike manufacturers are continuing to improve the mountain bikes both technologically and style-wise. Some of the new designs have 27 gears and with the technological advances, it has become easier to change these gears. Hydraulic disc brakes and front and rear suspension systems are also a new advance for many different manufacturers of mountain bikes.

Some people in our country spend every spare minute that they can on their mountain bikes. They enjoy the fact that they can get both exercise and a bit of nature on a mountain bike ride. In California, for example, mountain biking is very popular due to the beautiful scenery and the large number or biking trails.

If you want to see some different scenery, then why not consider one of the many tours or vacations that you can take on mountain bikes? There are a great number of different sites online that can help you to find the areas that you may want to visit. You will have a great deal of fun seeing different countries and cultures on the back of your mountain bike.

Mountain bike riders are always searching for improvements for their mountain bikes. They may want to make their bike go faster or they may want it to be more comfortable or controllable. Mountain bikers are always looking for ways to make their bike the best. The good news is that it can be done comparatively easy, just by visiting your local or online bike shops.

A new seat or saddle is one thing that you can choose to help make your mountain bike more comfortable to ride. There are a great deal of different seat designs, so you are sure to find one that fits your particular body and needs. There are seats made just for a womanand#8217;s body and there are seats that help to take the pressure off of the prostate on men. Depending upon your needs, you are sure to find the right saddle for you bike, which will help you to enjoy your mountain biking even more.

If you are any kind of mountain biker, then you know that what terrain you are riding on dictates the kind of tire treads that you need. Using the right tires with the right tread will help you to better control your bike no matter where you want to go biking. You may also want to consider V-type brakes if you are going to need to be able to stop quickly and easily.

Two things that are very important on mountain bikes is a good suspension system and shocks. If you do not have these two things, then you may find that your body may be very sore due to the bumps of riding. The suspension and shocks can help absorb some of the friction, to help you enjoy your mountain biking even more. Your local bike shop will be able to help you find any of these parts that you need or want for your mountain bikes. <bio>Alastair Hamilton is a syndicated editor of http://www.bikecyclingreviews.com . From an aerial view, Table Mountain National Park resembles a narrow finger, featuring a variety of spectacular beaches, bays and valleys. The Park is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the west and False Bay on the east. Two of the most beautiful landmarks in the country can be found inside the park, the Cape of Good Hope and Table Mountain.

Table Mountain Park is unique in that visitors will not be able to find such a vibrant bio-diversity or fabulous beauty anywhere else in the world, particularly in an area that is largely metropolitan and includes the sophisticated city of Cape Town.

Visitors can enjoy gorgeous natural beauty during a variety of scenic drives throughout the park, including Chapman's Peak Drive, Boyes Drive, Victoria Road, the path from Simon's Town to Smitswinkel Bay and the drive that runs from Kommetjie to Scarborough. Be sure to bring a packed lunch along with you because you will find plenty of opportunities to stop and have a picnic. Some of the most popular spots include The Glen, Signal Hill lookout, Kirtenbosch Botanical Gardens, Newlands Forest, Constantia Nek, Miller's Point and Buffels Bay.

Technically, there are not any accommodation options operated by the park within the park; however, you will find a variety of different accommodations which are privately operated near the edge of the metropolitan area around Cape Town.

Once you have arrived in the area, there are a variety of different outdoor activities from which to choose. If you are looking for an adventure of a lifetime, you might consider taking the 3-day Hoerikwaggo Table Mountain Trail tour. This tour is comprised of a three day, guided hiking experience that bridges the cultural history of the Cape Town area with the national heritage that is associated with Table Mountain.

Other activities include mountain biking, mountain climbing, hiking trails, hang gliding and paragliding. Inside the park a number of mountain biking trails are in operation along with several climbing routes that have been approved. Hang gliding and paragliding sites are located at Silvermine and Lion's Head. If water based activities are more to your liking, there are also numerous reefs and beaches that encircle the Peninsula, offering the opportunity to surf year around. Excellent snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities can also be enjoyed in the clear waters as well. For something a bit more relaxing, consider one of the many tidal swimming pools located around Buffels Bay, Bordjiesrif and Oudekraal. Angling is a popular activity in the area as well, although you should be aware that area and seasonal restrictions dictate where and which types of marine life may be caught. You can find out more about local restrictions as well as other activities in the area by visiting one of the information centres located at Table Mountain cableway station, Boulders or Silvermine.<bio>We are your source for Cape Town Accommodation, Knysna Accommodation, Somerset West Bed and Breakfasts, and more for your next vacation to the Western Cape.</bio>

As a beginner mountain biker, it is quite natural for you to get a bit overwhelmed with all the mountain bike accessories that you see in a bike store or shop. Although there are many types of mountain bike accessories being sold in the market today, you do not really need all of them so don't waste your money on the things that you will not really have much use when you go biking. Instead of buying those fancy mountain bike accessories, invest on safety gears and accessories.

The helmet is one of the most important mountain bike accessories that you need. Unfortunately, a lot of bikers often do not wear helmets when they go out that they end up suffering from severe head injuries during a fall. To safeguard your head when negotiating difficult mountain bike trails, you need to wear a reliable headgear. A good helmet is your best friend when you are out there negotiating some difficult mountain bike trails so make sure that you get one.

Aside from buying mountain bike helmet, you will need gloves to protect your hands. In many cases, you need to grip the handle of your bike tightly when you negotiate difficult trails so you need gloves to cushion your hands. Furthermore, is case of a fall, you hands are the first things that usually touch the ground. If you are not wearing gloves, you could suffer from serious injuries when you hit your hands on some sharp objects like rocks when you try to break a fall.

What type of gloves should you get? Full-fingered gloves are a lot safer than those that only protect your palm and half the length of your fingers. Although gloves that do not cover up to the fingers tips are more comfortable than the full-fingered type, you are still at risk of hurting your fingers during a fall.

Your mountain bike accessories will not be complete without the eyes protection. You need to protect your eyes when you go out biking. You can run into some deep trouble if something gets into your eyes and blur your eyesight. Always remember that small particles and some insects can easily get into your eyes while you negotiate mountain bike trails.

When it comes to mountain bike accessories, the mountain bike shoes should be on your list. You need to buy mountain bike shoes to keep your feet comfortable while biking. Note that your feet could feel a bit sore after pedaling for a while so make sure that you wear comfortable shoes.

For buying and selling used or new (second hand) bikes and motorcycles check the link http://www.bharathautomobiles.com/motorcycles-s2_0.html <bio>James Gunaseelan writes for leading auto portal in India http://BharathAutomobiles.com </bio>

Mountain biking is so much more than a mere sport. It is an enriching experience in itself. Along with great exercise for you comes the added element of visual gratification if you are riding your bike across scenic wooded paths. It gives you the pleasure of knowing that you are doing something good for your body while immensely enjoying the activity. It comes as little surprise thus that mountain bikes are always so much in demand. And the technology with which these mountain bikes are being made nowadays is becoming more and more advanced. The quality is always improving and the extreme competitiveness in this segment makes sure nothing is compromised in the production of these mountain bikes.

A mountain bike is also known as an ATB or an All Terrain Bicycle. These are meant for rough use on rugged roads and built much more sturdily compared to the normal bicycles. Depending on the suspension, mountain bikes can be mainly categorized into hard tail, soft tail and dual suspension bikes. The speed of these bikes will also vary as they come with different speeds with the most common ones being 21 speed and 24 speed. There are also bikes that have 27 speed or 30 speed.

As the technology used in producing mountain bikes has seen several progressive changes over the years, it has in turn been becoming increasingly possible to ride these bikes on rougher and rougher terrain. And that is just one reason why they are called All Terrain Bicycles in the first place.

Another unique feature in the mountain bikes that separate them from the normal every day bikes are their tires. The first thing that you would notice is that mountain bikes have much fatter tires. Given their bigger size, these tires are afforded far more durability on rough roads or mountainous paths than their normal counterparts. Mountain bikes normally have wheels that are 26 inches thick but other sizes are also commonly used like 21 inch wheels.

A lot of modern mountain bikes also come equipped with disc brakes. These have proven to be of significant assistance especially to mountain bikers who are participating in a race or a rally. These disc brakes give you the option of braking fast and the strength of their braking is also quite powerful compared to the mechanical brakes. All in all, whether it is for the racing professionals or casual office-goers looking for some exercise, a good mountain bike could be a very smart purchase. <bio>James Brown writes about http://www.onlinebikedeals.com/Coupons/Dunham's%20Sports.html, http://www.onlinebikedeals.com/Coupons/REI.html and http://www.onlinebikedeals.com </bio>

As a beginner mountain biking enthusiast, it is easy to become like a child in a candy store. You may become enamored with all the accessories and want to purchase everything you see in the bike shop. Although there are many types of mountain bike accessories being sold in the market today, many of them are unneeded. So save your money for the essentials. Instead of buying everything, spend your money wisely on safety gear and accessories. A good bike store salesperson can help you decide which accessories are the most important.

Helmets

A mountain bike helmet is one of the most important accessories that you need. Unfortunately, many bikers do not wear helmets when they ride. Perhaps they feel wearing a helmet takes away from the extreme nature of mountain biking. But wearing a helmet is one of the safest things you can do. You can prevent severe head injuries during a fall. To safeguard your head when negotiating difficult mountain bike trails, you need to wear a reliable headgear. A well made helmet is your best protection when you negotiating difficult trails. This one is really a no-brainer.

Gloves

Next to a good mountain bike helmet, mountain bike gloves to protect your hands are the best accessory you can invest in. There are many times you will need to grip the handle of your bike tightly when you negotiate difficult trails. A good set of gloves will help cushion your hands. And if you should take a fall, your hands are usually the first thing that touches the ground. If you are not wearing gloves, you could suffer serious injuries when you try to break your fall and your hands hit the dirt and any sharp objects like rocks.

What type of gloves are the best to purchase? You are better off buying full-fingered gloves. While not quite as comfortable as those that protect only your palm and half the length of your fingers, full fingered gloves will protect you much better if you should take a fall.

Eye Protection

Your set of mountain bike accessories will not be complete without eye protection. It is important to protect your eyes when you go biking. You can run into some deep trouble if something like dust gets into your eyes and blurs your eyesight. Something as small as dust or small insects can easily get into your eyes while you negotiate mountain bike trails.

Shoes

When it comes to accessories, a good pair of mountain bike shoes should also be on your list. Staying comfortable is very important to your overall enjoyment of a ride. If you buy a good pair of shoes designed specifically for mountain biking, your feet will be less sore than if you wear just any shoes.

There are many other accessories available for you to buy. But, if you are just starting out, this is a short list of those mountain bike accessories that you should consider to help you get the most enjoyment from your rides. <bio>Before you purchase a mountain bike or mountain bike accessories, make sure to visit http://www.mtbiking.info where you will quickly and easily find resources and information on Cannondale mountain bikes, Mongoose mountain bikes, Trek mountain bikes, GT mountain bikes, Giro helmet and Bell helmets </bio>

Just like any other product, mountain bikes too are rated and these ratings can help a biker, whether a learner or a professional, to decide on the right bike for himself. If you are on the lookout for a new bike, comparing ratings and matching it with your requirements and capacity should help you decide on the right choice.

Mountain biking has grown in popularity over the years and mountain biking enthusiasts who are passionate about this sport know exactly the fun, excitement and the adrenaline high that they experience each time they go mountain biking. The fun and excitement associated with this sport comes with a package deal of danger and risks. The mountain bike and the safety equipments play a major role in making this sport a little bit safer. However selecting the right bike can be a daunting task for beginners and this is where mountain bike ratings can be of major help.

As with every other product, itand#8217;s important that you take a well informed decision before finalizing the selection and purchase of your mountain bike. To achieve this you need to research for more information on the various available options and the mountain bike ratings.

Mountain Bikes and their Ratings

Itand#8217;s wise to go through multiple mountain bike ratings before your finalize your choice because ratings are like reviews and may differ from source to source. Thus if a particular mountain bike is rated as the best by one source, there may be another source which might have an average or not so good view of the bike.

If you are looking for a durable and sturdy mountain bike then GT Avalanche is a popular choice. You will require an investment of $1,000 for this bike but rest assured that this will be a good investment since the bike is a choice of many mountain bikers and is even rated at 4 stars out of a grading of 5 because of its durability and rough and tough image.

If you are a learner and want to invest in a bike which should not hurt your pocket too much and should also be capable of pulling through your initial falls and hurdles as a learner, then Schwinn Mesa should be your final pick. The Schwinn Mesa has an average rating of 3.5 stars out of 5 and is a good learnerand#8217;s bike and costs around $250.

The GMC Sport is a strong contender and is popular not only due to its sturdiness and durability but also for its chic image. Average Bikers prefer the GMC Sport since they can use it well even on rough rides and then can save money by trading it for a better model in an exchange offer. And at a price of $250, the sturdiness, durability, style as well as trading benefits make the bike popular enough to stand on a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. <bio>Andrew Caxton is the consultant for http://www.bikecyclingreviews.com .
Mountain bike shoes are an integral part of your mountain biking equipments since the right shoes can make your ride comfortable and help you to handle strenuous pedaling and difficult situations like feet swelling etc. during long mountain biking trips. There are a wide variety of mountain bike shoes available nowadays ranging from Clipless pedal shoes to custom-made mountain bike shoes. However there are some basic as well as individual specific factors which can help you decide and select your mountain bike shoes.

Investing in a good pair of mountain bike shoes is essential since they can comfort your feet and prove enjoyable, safe and efficient while you go mountain biking. Nowadays you can easily find shoes designed for use with clipless pedals as well as shoes with toe clips and standard pedals which give bikers the opportunity to pick and choose. However in the past the choices were limited and clipless pedals did not exist. Bikers had to struggle with shoes having toe-clips and this sometimes caused hindrance while riding. For instance, if there was an accident during the race, the biker could not free his feet from the toe-clips thus causing the biker to fall with the bike and hurt himself as well as damage the bike.

Shimano Pedaling Dynamics

The viable option of Clipless pedals available nowadays is preferred by bikers mainly because of the safety factor that they offer. An alternative to Clipless pedals are Mountain Bike shoes with Shimano Pedaling Dynamics (SPD). So if your bike does not have the option of Clipless pedals, you could very well use mountain Bike shoes with SPD. A known fact is that apart from the general discomfort that bikers experience during mountain biking, there is also the trouble of feet swelling during treacherous terrains. It is therefore wise to use laceless mountain biking shoes. These not only provide comfort during general biking but also allow more room for your feet in case they swell.

Mountain Bike shoes are available in many varieties and options. There are mountain bike shoes having stiff soles for mountain bikers who require pedaling power. Then there are the flexible shoes which can be used while biking as well as trekking in the mountains. The choice is yours. However if the selection process seems confusing you could get the opinion and advice of other experienced biking enthusiasts or the salesperson at the mountain bike retail outlet.

Unlike in the past, mountain bike shoes can be custom-made to suit your liking or your specific requirement or the type of terrain you wish to explore during your next mountain biking trip. The basic principle to follow is that your mountain bikes pedals determine the type of shoes you should wear. Though having mountain bike shoes with either Velcro straps or complex straps instead of laces is a good choice since such shoes can be opened or unhooked. Also some more aspects for consideration while buying your mountain bike shoes is that the shoe should be a little curved at the ball of the foot and the soles should be smooth, tough and inflexible. Basically the shoes should be adaptable while you are mountain biking. <bio>Andrew Caxton is a consultant who writes on many consumer topics for http://www.bikecyclingreviews.com .
Your decision to buy a mountain bike cannot begin or end without paying special notice to the type of tires in the bike. Your choice of adventure, whether rough or paved, as a biker can largely help determine the type of tires you need to buy as well as the amount of tire pressure you may need to maintain in your mountain bike. All you need to do is keep this correlation in mind before as well as after you buy your mountain bike.

Mountain Biking adventures involve rugged, rough landscapes and unpaved roads. Sometimes paved roads and well trodden bike trails are also preferred by some mountain bikers. The choice of adventure depends from biker to biker and thus the choice of Mountain Bike will differ too. Before you decide on your choice of mountain bike, you should delve into certain important factors like the type of tires you will need and the type of trail you will be riding on. The importance of choosing the right Mountain Bike tires can be listed as below.

Types of Tires and#8211; Wide, Narrow, High Friction, Low Friction

As already pointed out, the type of mountain biking adventure one prefers differs from biker to biker and this very aspect should help you determine the type of tires you will need and the type of mountain bike you will have to purchase. Though you can purchase multiple set of tires yet it is important to take a good check on the tires on the Mountain Bike you wish to purchase. If you are a biker who loves riding on rough terrains, your choice of mountain bike should have wide, heavy tires which are ideal to handle the friction and dangers of rough terrains.

Similarly, if your interest lies in mountain biking on pavements and well paved paths, then narrow smooth tires are what you need. However a point to remember is that even tires used for mountain biking on paved road do need to have friction although on a lesser scale. Using tires with high friction on paved areas can cause you to lose speed so though high friction tires can be used, they should be preferably avoided.

Appropriate pressure in tires

Having determined the type of tires you need for your mountain bike, you need to now focus on the tire pressure. The right tire pressure can give you a smooth ride and better control on your mountain bike. The effects on maintaining either low tire pressure or high tire pressure are easily evident. A mountain bike having high tire pressure can lead to a bumpy uneven ride which can result in loss of control. On the other hand, low tire pressures can make riding difficult and increased possibility of tire punctures.

Nowadays, bikers also have the viable option of selecting tubeless tires for their mountain bikes. However tubeless tires require low tire pressure ranging from thirty to forty pounds per square inch but the benefit would be lesser chances of facing a flat tire and the ability to ride on less than normal pressure in tires for various types of mountain bikes. <bio>Andrew Caxton enjoys writing about sport tips for http://www.bikecyclingreviews.com .
