A Kenyan Safari to the Mount Kenya National Park and Reserve should be on your list of options when planning a safari if only because of its height, being the second highest mountain in Africa. Mount Kenya is 17,058 feet high and the National Park and Reserve has 1300 square kilometres of forest reserve with 715 square kilometres above the 10,500 ft tree line, where the entire mountain is National Park

This height means that what you are going to see a huge variety of spectacular scenery which makes the Park very special. There are lakes, tarns, glaciers, peaks, natural mineral springs, and the vegetation changes quite dramatically with the height from sea level. Add to this high altitude adapted plains game, and unique alpine vegetation with eleven species of endemic plants. The surroundings in the Mount Kenya Safari Park are truly breathtaking

You will find dry upland forest in the lower slopes, then after about 7000 ft this changes to montane forest of cedar and podo which then changes to thick bamboo at a little over 8000 ft, and then these die out as you climb higher, and you find smaller trees and high altitude mosses. After 10000ft you come onto high altitude heath and shrubs , and then finally above 11000 feet there is open moorland.

A Kenya safari is mostly about wildlife, and Mount Kenya national park has its fair share, again changing with altitude, and the season of the year. During the rains it is the dispersal area for Meru National Park especially elephant and buffalo. In fact electrified fencing has been put up near populated areas to keep the elephants off farmland.

The wildlife in the forest below the Park Boundary includes the aforementioned elephant and buffalo. To which can be added lion, several different species of antelope including the very rare bongo. If you are incredibly lucky you might see up to eleven species unique to this area above 2500 metres. There are the black leopard, black and white Colobus and Sykes monkeys, bushbuck, buffalo, elephant. Then lower down Olive baboon, waterbuck, black rhino, black fronted duikers, leopard, giant forest hog, genet cat, bushpig and hyena.. The very privileged few might even see albino zebra. Above the treeline you'll find high altitude zebra and eland.

The accommodation in the Mount Kenya National Park consists of one lodge, seven climber huts, and three self help banda sites , and three lodges and a self help banda site just outside the park.

To summarise the attractions of the Mount Kenya National Park and reserve.

There is excellent game viewing, fantastic scenery, with the lakes, tarns, glaciers, and high peaks. A number of rare birds and animals, and the high altitude plains game and the mountain forest. Added to this the natural mineral springs, and for a few intrepid souls mountain climbing itself, but this is not for the hill walker but more the skilled mountaineer.

If you are planning a memorable Kenyan Safari then a trip to the Mount Kenya National Park and Reserve promises to be a wonderful experience.

For more information on In Kenya safaris go to http://www.in-kenyasafari.com/pages/Site-Map.html <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and has visited personally many of the places he reports on, and has done extensive research on the others </bio>

A Kenya Safari Holiday must include a visit to the Aberdare National Park, not only because a visit to Treetops possiblt the most famous safari lodge is Kenya is here, but also because of the amazing scenery, and the variety of wildlife that can be found.

Aberdare National Park is a great Kenya Safari destination for both these reasons.

The Park varies from around 7000 feet to 14000 feet so there is everything from moorland to rainforests, bamboo forests to mountain peaks, all broken up by deep river valleys with streams rivers and beautiful waterfalls.

This in turn means a large range of wildlife to view on your safari holiday and Aberdare National Park of course has te best known safari lodge in the world which is Treetops. At Treetops and the Ark, both of which are treehouse hotels, where the walkways and rooms are up in the sky in the forest canopy. They are marvellously situated beside waterholes and natural salt licks, there is all day and all night game viewing without leaving the hotel, thanks to the floodlighting. There is even a bell system in the room to waken guests if a good sighting arrives in the hours of darkness!! There is even an underground viewing hide so close to the waterhole, that you could almost reach out and touch.

The great spread of height in the Park means different species in different environments, and up high the moorland is very reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands, butat 10,000 feet the bamboo thickets hide the bongo a rare and elusive forest antelope.

If you have come to see the big five, then elephants dominate the waterholes, and lions hve to give way. Leopards can be sighted there but mostly a night.

The Park also contains large numbers of black rhino.

Aberdare National Park is not a malaria area because of the height, butrecautions must continue to be taken, because you will be coming from or going to spots where Malaria is a real danger.

In summary no Kenya Safari holiday would be complete without visiting Aberdare. <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and he has in depth knowledge of the places he writes about. </bio>

Lake Nakuru National Park in Kenya was established in 1961, and it has grown from just the lake and the mountains around to now include a lot of the savannahs. As a consequence the amount of wildlife to view has increased enormously, making Nakuru a very worthwhile part of any African safari trip. It is at an altitude of 5700 ft, and covers an area of over 188 sq. Kms.

Its height above sea level alone means that the vegetation and wildlife are considerably different than say at Tsavo which is mainly much lower and closer to the sea.

The lake itself is shallow and alkaline, and varies in size from 5 to 30 square kms depending on the time of year. It is the alkaline nature of Lake Nakuru that causes the huge numbers of visitors each year. It is no exaggeration to say that one species more than any other has made the lake famous throughout the world

Lake Nakuru is best known for the huge stunning flocks of lesser Flamingo, and for many this is the highlight of their Kenya safari holiday, but there is far more to see in the Park than just the pink Flamingos.

The differing environments from the lake itself to wooded and bush grassland, to rocky escarpments and ridges means a great diversity of wildlife.

Hippo of course ca be spotted in the lake along with 400 other species o birdlife, and on the shore, waterbuck, zebra, black and white rhinos, buffalo, leopard, lion, Rothschild's giraffe, warthog, to name but a few, plus large python snakes.

The Lake Nakuru National Park is the only completely fenced national park in Kenya, and is easily accessed by tarmac road from Nairobi, and Naisha airstrip during the dry season. It is fenced to keep out poachers and so the protected rhino population is growing. <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and he has in depth knowledge of the places he writes about. </bio>

An African Safari vacation, or more specifically going on a Kenya Safari can take you to many different parts of Kenya, and to many absolutely delightful Parks and Reserves, where many thousands of excited visitors will have the opportunity to see and get near some wild animals that they have only ever seen before in a zoo or on television.

This article exists to inform you about the Great Rift Valley, and give you reasons to ensure it is on your itinerary when you next take an African Safari Vacation in Kenya.

The Great Rift Valley is really one of the great wonders of the world, and it can be seen as far north as the Middle East, and then this gigantic fault line goes down through Africa as far as Mozambique, a distance of around 5400 miles in length.

It is impossible to describe the sensation when you first see it in Kenya, or do justice to what it feels like when you approach the Great Rift Valley, and the ground just vanishes from under you, as this great Rift opens up, cutting Kenya neatly in half, separating East from West.

To give you some idea of the scale of the Great Rift Valley where hopefully you are going to choose to spend at least a part of your Africa Safari Vacation In some places the Rift is 60 miles wide, and its narrowest point it is 27 miles wide.

In the south the valley walls are sheer cliffs rising to over 6000 feet at Lake Naivasha.

There are three national reserves in the Rift Valley are all in the remote area north of Isiolo and they are the Samburu, Buffalo Spring and Shaba, which are accessible with only a little difficulty.

Something not to be missed are the Lakes area of the Great Rift Valley, and the descent to explore them in the floor of the Rift.

The first is the beautiful deep green Lake Naivasha, and the Lake Naivasha basin hold two small National Parks. The first Park in the area is the Mount Longonot National Park which rises up to over two thousand seven hundred metres around a young volcano.

The next park is Hell's Gate which is famous for natural Hot Geysers, and is relatively small at 68 square kilometres.

Going northwest you come next to Lake Nakaru and its world famous park made to protect the pink lesser flamingo.

This is followed by Lake Bogoria, and the reserve here is almost all lake which has huge interest to ornithologists.

Then finally we come to the tiny Lake Kamnarok Reserve with a 4000 foot deep valley.

This brief description whilst not covering anything like all of the Great Rift Valley has hopefully at least given you a taste of what a Kenya Safari here could take in, and make you want to know more.

With a huge variety of landscapes, things to do and see, lodges, camps and of course wildlife the Great Rift Valley is a must for any Africa Safari Vacation based in Kenya.

If you want more information about In Kenya Safaris go to http://www.in-kenyasafari.com/pages/Site-Map.html <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and has visited personally many of the places he reports on, and has done extensive research on the others </bio>

Your Kenya Safari Holiday could well start at Amboseli, not only because Amboseli National Park is only an hour by air from Nairobi, but also because the wildlife viewing is top class all the year round, and the views of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background are truly spectacular.

As a park Amboseli is comparatively small, being less than 400 sq km, but it does boast over 50 of the lrger species of mammal, and over 400 species of birds.

It is also the home of the Maasai people, tall proud and brave, and nomadic, so there is evidence of their abandoned villages because they move wherever, and whenver the cattle grazing is used up. The cattle's damage to the grassland, added to the sheer numbers of animals along with the popularity of Amboseli, the huge number of tourists, their four wheel drive vehicle damage, has meant a restriction in where vehicles can go.

Having said all of that Amboseli is a great place to start your Kenya Safari Holiday because of the numbers of game that you can view, and the sheer beauty of seeing the game on your Kenya Safari Holiday against the backdrop of the snow covered Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The centre area of Amboseli national park is basically a dried up lake, and swamps and springs fed by the melted snow, from underground rivers originating on Kilimanjaro give the animals permanent sources of water even during the periods of drought. The best place to view game on your Kenya safari holiday is around the swamps, and there is a great place to go called Observation Hill.

The big question of course is what game will you see on your Kenya Safari Holiday to Amboseli? The list will incude baboon, vervetmonkey, lion, cheetah, elephat, zebra, hippo, black rhino, oryx, wildebest, gerenuk, impala, and gazelle.

Amongst the camps you need to check out for your Kenya safari Holiday in Amboseli includes Amboseli Serena Lodge, Ol Tukai Lodge, Amboseli Sopa Lodge, Tortllis Camp, and just north of Amboseli is Porini Camp. <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and he has in depth knowledge of the places he writes about. </bio>

Although there is a large market for competition with other African countries, Kenya still assumes its top place in harboring visitors from all over the world. Much of Kenya is usually deemed as safari, which in turn made it famous.

Even before the birth of other countries to compete for tourist market, Kenya has already emerged as the pioneer. During its discovery, famous people such as President Roosevelt, Prince Edward, Ernest Hemmingway and the likes have already explored the safaris of Kenya. This created a snob appeal though. In a sense, the big people went to Kenya safari because the world expects them to while those who have the resources to travel do because it seemed to be one of the certifications to reach the 'up society'.

In our modern-day however, Kenya safari is already open for all people who are willing to enjoy wildlife and culture.

Because of its unfailing guarantee to have you experience the big five (namely lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino) its fame is unequalled by any other regions who themselves offer other wonders. Kenya ecosystems cover an array of other substantial members of the savanna.

Kenya safari does not only rely its fame on its vast resources for wildlife, it is also known for its kaleidoscopic landscapes which are characterized with highlands, rift valley, grasslands, moonscape at the north and the snow capped, magnificent Mount Kenya.

Considering the over 50 wildlife reserves and national parks, it would be impossible for one visitor to not love any of them. It is off course expected that one cannot visit all them in a single trip. So unless you have all the resources to travel and take the off beaten tracks, it would be best if you would plan your trip well and organize your voyage so you may get the bests of all worlds.

For travelers with limited budget, your best bets would be Amboseli, Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Samburu, Aberdares, and Tsavo. And for those who have time and money, you may explore great laces such as Kakamega Forest, Meru, Marsabit, Mount Elgon, Mount Kenya, and Shimba Hills.

Even with a big budget or low, Maasai Mara is still a definite stop over. This is the place where all filming of wildlife in Kenya are created. This haven of wildlife offers immense varieties of animal species that it would be hard to believe that they are all contained in a single place.

All of these perhaps contribute to the perception that wildlife lovers should and must visit Kenya safaris at least one time in their lives so as to witness a great part of the creation. <bio>This content is provided by Low Jeremy. You have a very good chance of seeing Giraffe, Cheetah, leopard, and lion. You can add to this gazelle, oryx, zebra, and Gerenuk, but of course it is the predators that are most sought after.

Shaba Reserve is named after a huge cone of volcanic rock which dominates the whole area.

The Ewaso Ngiro River is the northern border of the park, and as the progress of the river is slow and wide as the river bends and straightens there is good viewing of the wildlife here, and there is a lot more water than the neighbouring reserves

It would be fair to say that visitors to Shaba don't just come for the wildlife, this place in a real experience from the difficulties of access, only possible through Archer's Post, and the near impossibility of the tracks in the wet season. Shaba is a total escape from 21st century life.

In addition to the previously mentioned wildlife species, you will have a chance of seeing the following at one of the seventeen springs where the animals congregate during the dry season.

Reticulated giraffe, Somalia ostrich, Baboon, Olive, Buffalo, African Bush Baby, Bushbuck, Caracal, Dik-dik, Kirk's Duiker, Bush, Eland, Elephant, Grant's Giraffe, Reticulated Klipspringer, Mongoose, Monkey, Beisa, Warthog, Waterbuck

It was at Shaba that Joy Adamson the author was murdered nearly thirty years ago, and for that reason alone a pilgrimage to Joy Adamson's monument is a must do on any Kenya Safari Holiday to Shaba.

Take Travel-Tennis on Safari and play realistic games of tennis in the evenings, using only dice and cards.
A Kenya Safari Holiday is unlikely to take you to more than one or two National parks, but you should check out Salt Lick Lodge at the Tsavo National Park if that is one National Park you are thinking of visiting on your Safari in Kenya.

Salt Lick Safari Lodge is right in the middle of a private twenty eight thousand square acres game sanctuary between the West and east parts of the Tsavo National Park.

It is a five hour drive from Nairobi, two hours from Mombasa, and an hour from Voi railway station

The luxurious Salt Lick Lodge is built on top of stilts overlooking a waterhole, and is linked by suspended walkways, so you can look down on the elephants wandering around underneath your feet. The name as you may imagine has been taken from a natural salt lick, which is a place that animals need to replenish their body salt levels, so it is a popular place!

The private sanctuary surrounding the lodge means there is a lot of game to view.

The accommodation on this part of your Kenya safari Holiday is of deluxe standard with extremely high levels of service, and you will find it very comfortable indeed. All of the 96 bedrooms have views of the waterholes and the game sanctuary, and are well equipped with modern facilities, including private bath, shower, and balcony.

The main restaurant is the Bura restaurant, and you will find that on this part of your Kenya Safari Tour the food is of a very good standard. You can organize champagne breakfasts, barbecues, and `Ou of Africa' dinners.

Obviously to be successful a safari in Kenya needs wildlife, preferably large game to view, and Salt Lick Lodge is ideally placed to see almost as much as you might want, especially if like many other tourists you have taken a few days away from your hotel by the Indian Ocean.

You can expect to see elephants, lions, cheetahs, and buffalo, amongst the fifty or so mammals who have made their home in this part of the Tsavo National Park, plus over 300 bird species. There is no off road driving aloud which has been a great help in the preservation and healthy growth of the species who live here.

It is important to be able to relax as well, and there is an outdoor pool so you can do just that. When you go on safari for the first time you might not realize that game drives take place in the early morning, and late afternoon, and at night, although other times as well, but there is quite a lot of time to kill between drives. This is why a swimming pool is so important.

It is also good to be able to be close to the game without traveling, or walking and feeling at risk, and Salt Lick Safari Lodge has taken care of that as well by building a secure ground level bunker with steel bars so you can be close up and get some great photographs.

If a Kenya Safari Holiday is something new to you, and you are a bit apprehensive about a camp with no fences then Salt Lick Safari Lodge at Tsavo National Park will ensure a good start to your Safari Kenya adventure.

For more information about In Kenya Safaris go to http://www.in-kenyasafari.com/pages/Site-Map.html <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and has visited personally many of the places he reports on, and has done extensive research on the others </bio>

The Meru National Park is a must go to destination if you are planning a safari holiday in Kenya.

It is over 320 kms from Nairobi, on the slopes of the Nyambeni Mountain range to the north east of Mount Kenya at an altitude of between 1000-3400 Ft and has an area of over 850 sq Kms.

It has been in existence since 1968 and became famous as the home of George and Joy Adamson and Elsa the Lioness, whose grave is marked here, who lived in the Kora National Reserve, which along with the Bisanadi, Rahole and Mwingi National Reserves are associated with Meru.

Meru is a great place to go for a Kenya Safari Holiday because not only is it wild, beautiful and relatively uncrowded, because it is the least visited of Kenya's larger Parks, but it also has a good cross section of game to view.

This is brought about firstly by the position of Meru which lies across the Equator, and is split by thirteen rivers and many mountain streams, which branch out from the Tana River at the southern border.

In terms of scenery there is everything from high woodlands to wide open plains with a huge number of riverbanks.

A section of the park has been designated as a wilderness area, and so there are no roads there, although the rest of the park has decent access roads and tracks, which deteriorate quite dramatically in the rains.

The game you should expect to see will include large prides of lion, elephant, cheetah, leopard, and Lesser Kudu duiker and Dik Dik antelopes. You may also see some of the largest herds of buffalo in Kenya, with a lot of hippo and crocodile in the rivers. Meru was one of the areas that suffered most through poaching twenty years ago, but good policing and security patrols have driven out the poachers.

There are believed to be over 300 different species of birds here at Meru so if your Kenya Safari Holiday is primarily one of ornithology then you should be more than happy to see species including Peter's Finfoot, Pel's fishing owl, kingfishers, bee-eaters to name just a few.

The beauty of Meru is that you will not encounter many other tourists when out on a game drive.

To get to Meru is a question of driving for around eight hours from Nairobi to Meru town. In all probability you'll need to organize a Safari Lodge package, and this would be part of it. If you want to access Kora National Reserve, along with the Bisanadi, Rahole and Mwingi, then this can be difficult and needs organizing in advance.

There are three airstrips that you can use to access Meru on your Kenya Safari Tour.

The times to visit Meru on your Kenya Safari Holiday are definitely the dry months, and the climate is generally hot and dry with an average altitude of around 2000 feet. You'll find the nights are quite pleasantly cool, even a jersey in the evenings!!

The summer months are December through March, the rain then falls between March and May. The winter is July to September and it rains again between November and December.

At Meru you will need to take precautions as it is a malaria area, so wear light long sleeved clothing and long trousers with DEET sprayed on as the most effective insect repellent.

You need to sleep under treated mosquito netting, and the doors and windows should be screened against mosquitos. If you are lucky enough to have a fan or even airconditioning then even better, but just remember malaria prophylaxis doesn't totally prevent Malaria, it's best to cover up and spray.

The Meru is probably not the best National Park to visit if this is your first ever Kenya Safari Holiday, but if you have an eye for detail and previous experience then you must not leave it out as part of your next Kenya Safari Tour.

For more information about In Kenya Safaris Go To http://www.in-kenyasafari.com/pages/Site-Map.html <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and he has in depth knowledge of the places he writes about. </bio>

It was originally built in a chestnut tree, and is now built on stilt supports overlooking a waterhole and saltlick very close to the elephant migration pathway to Mt. Kenya.

A quick tip, if you are arriving during the cooler months, pick up a blanket as you enter, because it gets cold at nights, bearing in mind the altitude.

On this part of your Kenya Safari Holiday most of your game viewing will be at night, and Treetops hs its own thousand watt artificial moon. Please note all hard soled footwear is banned, because of the need to keep noise levels down.

Treetops rooms are small, but they do overlook the waterhole, and they do not have ensuite facilities, they are shared on a single sex basis. Each room has a buzzer which will go off during the night, two buzzes means a special visitor, such as a lion, rhino or leopard.

Treetops is totally different angle on a Kenya Safari Holiday, and this is based on years of visitors agreeing this is an outstanding safari stopover.

The game viewing is unsurpassed from several observation lounges, including an underground closeup spot where you can virtually reach out and touch the animals, were it not for the safety screen.

You can view elephant, rhino, lions, sometimes all too real if a family of lions makes a meal out of an unsuspecting bushbuck.

Visit Treetops on your Kenya Safari Holiday in Aberdare National Park for an unforgettable safari experience. <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and he has in depth knowledge of the places he writes about. </bio>

Situated in south west Kenya it is a continuation of the Serengeti national park in Tanzania.

The Masai Mara Game reserve is not the largest in Kenya for your in Kenya Safari, but it is certainly the best known. The whole park is within the Great Rift valley, and is the idea destination for a luxury african safari. Most of the wildlife is to be found in the swampy western border of the Masai Mara, and because this area is the furthest away from Nairobi, it is the open grasslands of the east that sees the greatest concentration of in Kenya safari tourists.

The Masai Mara is well known for lions, but all the othe members of the 'big five' are to be found here. The dominant inhabitant however is the wildebeest, and in July they migrate north to the Masai from Serengeti, and then go back outh again in October.

No Maai Mara Kenya Safari is complete without seeing this amazing migration of over a million wildebeest, and hundreds of thousands of Thmson's Gazelle and Zebra. Naturally your safari will also include the predators on the fringe of the great migration, the lions and hyenas.

A Masai Mara safari with luck will include the Masai giraffe, the large Roan antelope, and the sptted hyena, plus over 450 species of bird life.

Lodges and camps to stay at, inside the reserve must include, Mara Serena, Governor's Camp, Siana Springs tented camp, Mara Simba, Keekorok, and Sarova Mara.

Take a Masai Mara safari, you will not be disappointed. <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and he has in depth knowledge of the places he writes about. </bio>

A very few people take a Kenya Safari, and those who do are lucky. They are even more fortunate if they choose to go to Meru National Park because it is a real lonely wilderness and is where Elsa was returned to the wild.

The Bisanadi National Reserve along with the North Kitui, Rahole National Reserve and Kora National Park form a protective screen to the east and south of Meru. This has the benefit of giving the wildlife more freedom of movement, and it also restricts people settling in this area, and human habitation and destruction of the environment would have a serious affect on the wildlife.

What the real meaning of this is, that Bisanadi and its neighbours are real unspoilt undeveloped sanctuaries. There are hardly any roads, and it's not easy to access them at all. In fact there is no accommodation at all for visitors in Bisanadi itself, but you can find accommodation in lodges and camps situated in the neighbouring parks in Shaba, Samburu as well as in Isiolo town In addition the Leopard Rock Safari Lodge and self service camp is only just across the border in the Meru National Park.

What this means is that Basanadi is a true wilderness area, and naturally you will need a sturdy four wheel drive vehicle.

Bisanadi can be accessed through the Meru National Park , and there is an airstrip at Korbessa.

If you are able to organise a Kenya Safari to Meru and get into Basanadi your sightings of wildlife are likely to be tremendous, and you can expect to see all of the Big Five, and it is one of the best areas to see cheetah and leopard, and you will see a lot of Elephant and buffalo especially during the rainy season, because Bisanadi acts as a dispersal area for wildlife from Meru

The border between Meru National Park and Bisanadi National reserve is the traditional division between the Meru and Boran tribes.

Bisanadi has been open since 1979 and it occupies an area of just over six hundred square kilometres in the eastern Province in the district of Isiolo, and it varies in height above sea level from 1050 feet to 2165 feet.

The type of terrain you will find is thorn bush and savannah but at the banks of the Tana River becomes swamps and palm tree forest.

The climate tends to be hot and dry with the rains coming in March through May and November to December. The average daytime temperature ranges between 24 to 31 degrees centigrade during the day, and 15 to 18 degrees centigrade at night. The best time to visit is probably between January and March and June to October.

Apart from the obvious big game viewing, the other attractions at Bisanadi National Reserve are Adamson's Falls, the wildlife habitat. There is also a fishing and boating opportunity on both the River Tana and the Rojewero River.

The biggest attraction of all is the fact that Bisanadi is so infrequently visited, which is a terrific reason in itself for organising a Kenya Safari here.

A Kenya Safari Holiday is made complete not only by the wildlife seen but also the quality of the camps and lodges you choose. Tortilis Camp in Amboseli National Park is a Camp that you will love.

Situated under a thicket of umbrella shaped trees, and dominated by Mt. Kilimanjaro, there are only 17 very spacious tents, each with en-suite facilities, and a raised veranda, with tents 1 and 2 in particular having incredible views of Kilimanjaro first thing in the morning, weather permitting!

Tortilis Camp is a very well kept secret, and those who take a regular Kenya Safari Holiday, and visit Amboseli want to keep it that way.

The actual safaris, or game drives as we should call them, from Tortilis Camp are of the top quality, and many of the guests are only used to an African Luxuy Safari, so they expect top quality, and they get it at Tortilis. Very safe guides, who listen, and then care enough to make sure insofar as it is possible that you go to where the game you want to see is likely to be. That is what a proper Kenya Safari Holiday should be about.

No Kenya Safari Holiday would be any good without great staff in a great lodge, and Tortilis certainly has this in abundance, and when you add great food, and the previously mentioned accommodation then you just about have it all.

Please note if you are on your Kenya Safari Holiday with dietary requests, then the chef is very amenable!!

Tortili Camp has a swimming pool, which is big enough, very refreshing, and just the thing to while the hours away between early morning, and evening game drives. It is a good point that no self respecting lodge should be without a pool, because a Kenya Safari Holiday can't be all action, you also need relaxation!!

A bush breakfast and sundowners are an essential part of any luxury African safari, especiallya Kenya Safari Holiday, and when tey are organised by Tortilis, you get the best. Walking with a young Maasai warrior is about as good as it gets.

Finally, the vehicles. Any Kenya Safari Holiday is good, but limited if you share a minibus, and have to stand up to see the game. At Tortilis their open Land Rovers, with just your family, and not strangers, with a knowledgeable guide is as good as any Kenya Safari Holiday can get. <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and he has in depth knowledge of the places he writes about </bio>

A Kenya safari should include stays at lodges and tented camps, and one place you should consider is Ol Kanjau Tented Camp adjacent to Amboseli National Park.

Ol Kanjau is very close to Mount Kilimanjaro and around this area in Amboseli National Park are a growing number of elephant, so much so there are now 52 known matriarchal families and over 1000 elephants.

To reach Ol Kanjau you can fly in to Amboseli by schedule flights every day, or by private charter to Lilimanjaro Buffalo Airstrip. It is a four hour drive from Nairobi or two hours from the Tanzanian border.

A Kenya safari isn't just about seeing game it should also be about the culture of the local tribes, and one of the great things about Ol Kanjau Camp is that you get the opportunity to visit nearby Maasai Settlements and understand their culture. The large area of bush around the camp is owned by the Kisongo Maasai pastoralists, and they receive a direct benefit from your stay at Ol Kanjau.

At Ol Kanjau you will learn a great deal about the animals themselves particularly the elephants, their habits and movements to build up a far bigger picture of what makes them tick. Even more than that, Ol Kanjau is known as the Camp of the Elephant and you will be given a unique opportunity for a close encounter with some of these utterly magnificent animals, and even an introduction to several of the families and this is something you will never forget.

Ol Kanjau is a very traditional camp consisting of six very spacious twin tents made of lightweight pale brown canvas with large and very comfortable beds. The bathrooms are safari style with hot bucket showers, with ample hot water whenever you need it. The tents also include a dressing table and somewhere to hang your clothes.

Privacy is taken care of by the positioning of the tents, and because there is of course no electricity lanterns are used at night to light the tents and this creates a really old fashioned romantic Kenya safari feel to the place. The fact that there are only six tents of course means there are never more than twelve guests, and so the attention at all times is very personal.

Everything at Ol Kanjau is kept as simple as possible which only adds to the wilderness feel. You can sit out at night around the fire and count the stars unspoiled by pollution, and listen to to the wildlife of Kenya as it goes about its business.

In the middle of the camp is the tent which acts as the dining area, and included with your three course meals are freshly baked breads. Accommodation naturally enough is full board to include soft drinks beer and wine.

Ol Kanjau is described as a mobile tented safari camp, and this is because the tents are tents and not a permanent structure. In this way your Kenya safari is somehow much closer to the natural world than a permanent lodge, and because of that the quality and quantity of the game is much much better because there is so much less disturbance to their way of life. You will also discover almost immediately that the pace of life here is totally unhurried but the access to game viewing is almost unsurpassed anywhere else. You will meet few if any other people, but lots of animals, and that surely is what a Kenya safari should be all about, so Ol Kanjau succeeds totally in this respect.

For more information on In Kenya safaris go to http://www.in-kenyasafari.com/pages/Site-Map.html <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and he has in depth knowledge of the places he writes about </bio>

You can't afford to miss visiting the Laikipia Plateau the next time you venture on an in Kenya Safari.

It spans over two million acres on the edge of the Northern Frontier from the slopes of Mt. Kenya to the rim of the Great Rift Valleyrising from over 5000 ft. to in excess of 9000 ft., it has a huge diversity of wildlife, and is one of the best places in Kenya to see the 'Big 5'.

It is becoming a more popular destination for many Kenya Safari Holidays because of this.

The LaikipiaPlateau is probably the last stronghold of what used to be tought of as Romantic East Africa, with vast open ranches, wildlife savannah, and overlooked by Mount Kenya.

Water is an essential element for game viewing, and Laikipia is fed by the Ewaso Nyiro and the Ewaso Narok rivers.

The real key to Laikipia as a Kenya Safari Holiday Destination is that there is something for everyone. If you want to be involved in wildlife conservation, to activity style holidays, to total privacy and isolation, then Laikipia has it all.

What you will be able to view on the Laikipia Plateau on your in Kenya safari includes rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo known as the 'Big 5'.

You need to know that Laikipia Plateau hs more enangered mammals than anywhere else in Kenya, with a number of sanctuaries protecting much of Kenya's black rhino population. You will find huge numbers of elephants, and it is the only place you will find the endangered Jackson's hartebeest.

You can add impala, gazelle, reticulated giraffe, Grevy's Zebra, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, and gerenuk.

In terms of scenery you have evrything from the beauty of the edge of the Rift Valley, the snows and peaks of Mt. Kenya with dusty plains, grasslads, rocky hills, rivers and waterholes, and it has the second largest wildlife population after the Maasai Mara.

The best thing is that the Laikipia Plateau remains relatively unknown and is the part of Kenya where the wildlife population has grown, so it is the ideal destination for your in Kenya Safari <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and he has in depth knowledge of the places he writes about </bio>

Mount Kenya is one of the tallest peaks on the planet. That's an appropriate metaphor for the coffee that comes from this region, since coffee from Kenya is one of the finest brews on Earth.

But beyond literary allusions, there's a real benefit to the area in which these superb beans are grown. The high plateaus of Mount Kenya provide excellent climatic conditions for growing coffee plants.

Add to that the volcanic soil and you have a stellar combination for growing some of the world's finest coffee beans.

In this region there are now thousands of small farms, farms that may average only a half acre. But thanks to those small plots, individual, careful attention can be given to the plants.

Fortunately, there also exists a system of cooperatives that allows these small farmers to efficiently market their product. Coffee drinkers everywhere are the beneficiaries.

Coffee from Kenya is famous for its intense flavor and full body. That flavor isn't overwhelming, though. For reasons known best to coffee chemists, the strong acidity of Kenyan coffee is well-balanced resulting in a pleasant tang, rather than a bitter jolt.

Some of that heady flavor is the result of using primarily AA beans in gourmet Kenyan coffee. The ratings - AA, AB, PB, C, E, TT, and T - refer, not directly to the quality, but to the size of the bean. But size matters.

The larger the bean, the greater the accumulation of fine coffee oils. It's those oils that produce many of the hundreds of compounds that combine to produce a fine cup. The larger the bean, all other things being equal (which, admittedly, isn't always the case) the more heady the aroma and the more flavorful the cup.

Though each individual coffee aficionado will naturally have his or her favorite, anyone who enjoys fine coffee will give a Kenya AA high marks. It is the perfect way to start a busy day, or sooth the nerves after a hectic afternoon. Try some and find out for yourself why. <bio>This article is brought to you by http://coffeeinfocenter.com.
One of the most popular Borneo destinations is undoubtedly Kinabalu National Park, where Mount Kinabalu resides. Each year, thousands of visitors visited Kinabalu National Park for either a refreshing National Park Vacation to escape the hot tropical sun and catch a glimpse of the highest mountain in South East Asia, or to conquer the mystical Mount Kinabalu.

Nevertheless, for a unique National Park Vacation in Borneo, you must make sure that you drop by at the lesser known Mesilau Nature Park, which is just about 30 minutes by road away from Kinabalu National Park. From Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah, Malaysia Borneo, it only takes approximately 2.5 hour drive to reach Mesilau Nature Park.

Mesilau Nature Park is located within the vicinity of Kinabalu National Park on the Pinosok Plateau near Kundasang town. The stretch of the road from Kundasang town to Mesilau Nature Park, which is about 2,000 metres above sea level, is extremely steep and winding. However, the road condition has improved immensely in recent times, which makes the ascending ride a breeze.

On the way, you will surely be captivated by the spectacular views of the Kundasang valley with terraced hill slopes planted with highlands vegetables, and parts of the scenic beauty of the Kundasang Mount Kinabalu Golf Course, a challenging 18-hole golf course for avid golfers, undeniably, the highest golf course in South East Asia.

But once you get to Mesilau Nature Park, you will notice that the place is more natural and "virgin" than the now "commercialized" Kinabalu National Park. As the Park lies at the base of Mount Kinabalu, Mount Kinabalu will look even more spectacular with a sheer wall of granite towering a few thousand meters from the virgin forest floor and ending in jagged peaks. This breathtaking sight is aptly called the Mesilau Pinnacles.

To experience the best of what Mesilau can offer, you will need to spend a night or two at the eco-friendly Mesilau Nature Resort, which is nestled amongst the trees at the foot of the mountain within the Park. The Resort itself is amazing since it was carefully planned and built to blend into its natural surrounding.

The chalets are on slopes surrounded by trees with the full view of the Mesilau River flowing below. And for food, the Kedamaian Restaurant is famous for its piping hot steamboat, and barbecue dinners, which makes it a good excuse to stay overnight.

Mesilau Nature Park is also the starting point for the alternative and more challenging route up Mount Kinabalu. If you are of an adventurous kind, do trek the route up to a kilometres or two even if you are not planning to climb Mount Kinabalu. Since the Mesilau Summit Trail is relatively newer and less crowded than the old summit trail, your chance of encountering (tamed) wildlife is also brighter.

One prominent feature of the route is the seemingly abundance of orchids (Rhododendrons) and pitcher plants. The world's largest pitcher plant, the "Nepenthes Rajah", is recorded to grow in abundance here. For most visitors, a less taxing guided nature walk around the Park is recommended. It will leave you with lasting "natural" memories.

Mesilau will not fail to enchant you with its cool temperate climate (temperatures vary around 17-21 degree Celcius during the day and 10-15 degree Celcius at night) and serene surroundings as a truly astonishing nature's paradise. Mesilau Nature Park and its Resort is an ideal venue for relaxation or retreat.

The bio-diversity of the flora and fauna found here makes Mesilau a haven for naturalists. It is one of the best locations in Borneo for an unforgettable National Park Vacation. <bio>Rich Adz is a writer for http://www.e-borneo.com, Borneo's leading http://www.e-borneo.com/travel and tour intermediary.
Before making any decisions about a honeymoon safari in Kenya investigate going to the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary If your plans include a Honeymoon in Kenya, and you aren't very keen on the prospect of flying in a light aircraft, then The Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary could well be a very good choice of Game Reserve.

It is situated about a couple of hour's drive from Nairobi, so no need to fly and the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary lies on the shores of Lake Oloidien which is a crater lake, and was once part of Lake Naivasha, and is bordered by the Rift's Mau Escarpment and Hells Gate National Park.

The drive there is spectacular rising from 5500 feet at Nairobi to the edge of the Great Rift Valley at 8500 feet, then down to Lake Naivasha at 6200 feet. The views of the Aberdare Mountain Range, the Mau Escarpment and Mount Longonot are unforgettable

The wildlife sanctuary is over eighteen thousand acres surrounded by electric fences with 24/7 guards. The Oserian Game Corridor lies outside the Sanctuary fences, and this was established in agreement with the Kenya Wildlife Service. It allows wildlife to pass from Hells Gate to the Lake.

One of the main reasons to consider the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary for a honeymoon in Kenya, and certainly as part of a Kenyan safari is the luxurious Chui Lodge within the sanctuary and this allows its visitors exclusive access to explore and to enjoy the flora and fauna. The is also Kiangazi House situated in the game corridor.

It is an important feature of the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary that all profits from tourism a reinvested into the conservation of this part of Kenya. This especially applies to the wildlife it supports, and as a consequence of this policy there has been the reintroduction of several endangered species such as the White Rhino, Grevy Zebra Beisa Oryx, and the Greater Kudu all brought in from Northern Kenya. In addition Wildebeest, and Topi were moved in from the Maasai Mara.

To add to the mix there are frequent sightings of Leopard and Cheetah, so there is a terrific mix of Game to be seen at the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary, and importantly the White Rhino population has more than doubled in the last ten years. Game viewing is as good a reason as any to visit Oserian on your honeymoon in Kenya.

Overall the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary has over three hundred species of visiting birds, and forty five different mammals have made it their home.

It is important to select the best time of year to visit, and if you remember that April to June and November bring the rains and the land is very green. It doesn't rain more than short sharp bursts follwed by sunny spells, so this is a very good time to visit this part of Kenya. July and September are the coolest months, and December to March the warmest.

Check out the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary before booking a honeymoon in Kenya.

Why you should take a close look at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge if you are Planning a Honeymoon in Kenya

A Honeymoon in Kenya, sounds like, and would be like a dream come true. Where do you go, and where do you stay when you are looking to take a luxury safari African vacation in Kenya? This is the key question, and at least part of the answer could well lie in choosing Amboseli National Park as a favourite place to get photographs of elephants against a backdrop of the snow capped Mount Kilimanjaro. Amboseli is easily reached from Nairobi and one of the best, if not the best place to stay is the Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge.

Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge is situated in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, next to a spring and beside giant Acacia trees, with stunning views of the mountain, and surrounded by the kind of big game that makes the lodge such a great place to go for a honeymoon in Kenya.

You will almost certainly see as well as the elephants, animals such as lions, buffalos, cheetahs, giraffes, baboons, gazelles and wildebeest. In fact you are very likely to see Elephant family groups up close and personal in the grounds very close to the lodge, as there are more wild elephants in Amboseli than almost anywhere else in Africa.

Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge is designed to imitate the native architecture, so it sits well with its surroundings, and the room interiors, which are all different, have a definite African feel to them, with the walls covered in murals and African memorabilia.

There are in all 96 guest rooms, with 17 pairs which are interconnecting. Unlike some lodges Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge has 24 hour electricity which is a bonus on any Kenya Safari vacation, but the outstanding thing is undoubtedly the cheerful, willing, and efficient staff, who offered great service at all times. What is especially good is the welcome back from a game drive with a hot towel to wipe your face.

You will also be guarded by Maasai warriors, although their main function is probably to keep the very friendly monkeys at bay.

The open air dining room overlooks the salt lick and floodlit waterhole, much visited by the big game, and here you will eat international food, buffets, barbeques and authentic African cuisine. The standard of the food is what you would be looking for on an African Safari vacation, both fresh, and with great variety of choice. Breakfast and lunch are buffet and dinner is a combination of buffet and menu.

There is a bar next to the dining room, and another small bar by the swimming pool, which is by the way ice cold!! By the pool there is a supply of fresh clean towels, and sunbeds.

You can sit on the verandah which overlooks the pool and the gardens and get some really excellent game viewing from there. One of the key selling points for this safari lodge is how good it is for access to the Amboseli game park, and you get the chance of three game drives a day in your own vehicle with your own driver.

Apart from the game drives, you can also have bush dinners, sundowners at Observation Hill, private picnics, lunch boxes, personal game drives. There are also daily guided nature and bird spotting walks through the grounds of Amboseli Serena Lodge with the resident naturalist, plus daily lectures on aspects of the Maasai culture.

Importantly there is full medical back up and emergency evacuation facilities.

Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge is just one of a group of Serena Safari Lodges, but is ideally situated for game viewing. It would be a good place to stop for a couple of nights on any Honeymoon in Kenya. Many families do come here as well as part of their holiday in Kenya or as part of a bigger luxury African Safari.

It certainly bears further investigation

For more information go to http://www.in-kenyasafari.com/pages/Site-Map.html <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and has visited personally many of the places he reports on, and has done extensive research on the others </bio>
