The Spurs is the only major professional sports team that calls the city of San Antonio their home. For this special honor, the residents of San Antonio shower their "boys" with praise and attention. In return, the Spurs team delivers an entertaining season and also gives back to the community. This is quite evident through the efforts and endeavors associated with influential personalities, such as David Robinson (Carver Academy) and George Gervin (Youth Center).

It is believed that the impressive community involvement from players greatly contributes to creating one of the most loyal fan bases within the NBA. This fact is also obvious through the attendance records that the team set when they called the Astrodome their home court. They also broke records for having one of the biggest crowds in history during the 1999 NBA Finals. Now, they play in the ATandT Center and continue to regularly sell out seats.

Another unique bond that the city and team have with one another showcases one of the most important forms of respect. When celebrating championship runs or significant milestones within the sporting world, the residents of San Antonio march up and down the streets, honking horns and spreading pride with little disruption. When it comes to rejoicing after a Spurs-title win, a major riot has yet to take place.

Throughout the years, San Antonio has had a lot to be happy about. They have sent three players to the Basketball Hall of Fame: George Gervin, Moses Malone, and Dominique Wilkins. The first of these basketball greats inducted into the Hall of Fame was George Gervin, who was nicknamed the "Iceman" during his career. In 1996, his outstanding run with the Spurs left him retiring with the second-most blocks of any guard in the NBA.

In 2001, Moses Malone was inducted into the Hall of Fame. By the end of his career, his longevity in the game sent him playing with two members of the Berry family (Rick in Houston; 1979 and 1980) and his son (Jon in Milwaukee; 1992 and 1993). The last of the current Hall of Famers is Dominique Wilkins, who in 2006 was inducted after leading an NBA career filled with major scoring and dunking accolades. <bio>Looking to invest in San Antonio real estate? http://www.satxproperty.com Agente de Bienes Raices en San Antonio Texas http://www.satxproperty-sp.com </bio>

A new sound is coming to earth. It will be very powerful, like nothing we have heard or experienced before. One of the components of that new sound is what I call-- the Music of His Presence.

It is music that has been born in the heart of God. Like a torrent of freedom and power that descends from on high and changes everything in its path, something very difficult to describe with words, but yet very real. It is music full of the majesty and the glory of God. I firmly believe that the music of His presence will be one of the distinguishing characteristics of the Church of the end times. It will completely revolutionize our worship services and will carry us to behold the very glory of the King.

The music of His presence flows from the realm of God's glory. It's a combination of melodies and harmonies that come from the throne room of heaven and break into the earth realm. As we will see, this heavenly sound flows through a growing generation of prophetic worshipers. They are an army of lovesick singers and musicians that will hear, taste and become the sound from heaven.

God said to Moses: "Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you... Then Moses went up into the mountain, and a cloud covered the mountain... Now the glory of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud" (Ex. 24: 12, 15, 16). When Moses went up to Sinai, a cloud covered the mount, and the glory of the Lord rested there for six days. This was a powerful experience. Nevertheless, Moses continued waiting. During those six days the Holy Spirit covered him, and he felt the glory of God that rested on the mount, but there was more. On the seventh day, while he was in the midst of the cloud, the Lord called him again.

This call was distinct and much more intense...

"The sight of the glory of the Lord was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel. So Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights"(Ex. 24:17-18). Moses could climb up the mount to a certain point, but in order to climb higher, he had to hear the call of God and enter in the midst of the cloud. When Moses entered the cloud, he entered into the Spirit. It was no longer him climbing... The Holy Spirit carried him. He had crossed the threshold of the door that divides the natural from the supernatural, and entered into the spiritual realm. The Lord showed him eternal things, things that are not seen in the natural.

The music of His Presence is found in this realm of the Holy Spirit. Finding this realm will not only be impressive and revealing, but it will also produce the same longing in you that was produced in Moses, a passionate desire to know the Lord more deeply.

Be sure to read the sequel: "The Music of His Presence - 2" <bio>Pablo Perez, Director of JASPER STONE MUSIC - http://www.jasperstonemusic.com - and the creator of "Unedited Worship".
Sometimes we want to do or be something great or grand in life.

We want to make or leave our mark in this world, and yet, it is often the small things done in great love that have changed the world. The small things we do on a daily basis, the gifts we use, simple acts of kindness we perform do add up. They do make a difference. As Mother Theresa once said, "we can do no great things; only small things with great love." Do you believe that small things done in great love will change the world? I do.

Remember the story of the Exodus? God had just announced to Moses that he is the one selected to rescue his people from the harsh rule of Pharaoh. Moses is completely stunned and argues that God has somehow made a terrible mistake. Who me? Wait a minute!

Have you heard me speak? Have you forgotten? I don't speak very well, but more importantly, what if they don't believe me. The Lord's response back to Moses was in the form of a question. "What's in your hand"? Moses had a rod in his hand. Basically the Lord told him to use what he had in his hand. He asked him to throw the rod on the ground and it became a snake. The rest is history. Moses was willing to use what he had. You see, I believe Moses had to use what was in his hand before God would release what was in His. What's in your hand? Are you using what's in your hand?

What about the time when Jesus asked his disciples to feed a multitude of five thousand people and they basically in so many words said "with what"? All they had were a few fish and barley loaves. Yet Jesus took what they had fed a multitude of people and even had leftovers!

Are you waiting for a miracle? Ever considered you may be part of it? God is waiting for you to do your part. Waiting for your special break, your moment in the spotlight? Waiting for everything to line up in your situation or circumstances before you make your big splash? Do what you can today. What's in your hand? Start where you are. Are you using what you have? Are you doing what you can today?

I read a great story in a book by Kim George about a developmentally challenged young man who had a job bagging groceries. He decided to cut up inspirational quotes and placed them in the grocery bags. Not only did it impact people, but long lines of people formed just to have him bag their groceries. Wow, who said a small act can't make a big difference? Who said a small act can't even lead to greatness?

What's in your hand my friend? What gifts do you possess? Are you using them?

What simple act of kindness could you give someone today? What kind word or deed could you do?

How can you make a difference in someone's life today with what you have to offer, with what's in your hand? Don't be guilty of thinking the small things you do don't matter or count for anything. Use what's in your hand. Do the possible and watch God do the impossible! <bio>Janet Daughtry, MDIV, CBC, is a certified Christian life coach helping women find their purpose and fulfill their potential.
The Rockets, along with the Seattle SuperSonics, entered the NBA in 1967 as an expansion team based in San Diego. They selected Pat Riley with their first draft pick in 1967. They went on to produce a then-NBA record 67-loss season.

In 1968 the Rockets won the coin toss versus the Baltimore Bullets, giving them the first overall pick in the 1968 NBA Draft. They selected Elvin andquot;the Big Eandquot; Hayes from the University of Houston. Hayes led the team to the franchise's first ever playoff appearance in 1969. The Rockets lost in the Western divisional semi-final to the Atlanta Hawks two games to four in a best-of-seven series.

The 1970 NBA Draft brought Calvin Murphy and Rudy Tomjanovich to the Rockets - both significant to the franchise after their playing careers were over.

Coached by Jack McMahon and Alex Hannum, the Rockets tallied a 119-209 record over their tenure in San Diego.

In 1971, real estate broker Wayne Duddleston and banker Billy Goldberg bought the franchise for $5.6 million and relocated the team from San Diego, where fans were more disposed to the Los Angeles Lakers than the Rockets. The Rockets originally had been named for San Diego slogan, andquot;A City in Motion, andquot; but with the move to Houston their name took on even greater relevance. Houston is home to the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center and Mission Control, which received national attention during Project Apollo.

The Rockets began playing at various venues in Houston, including the Astrodome, AstroHall, and Hofheinz Pavilion. They also played games at HemisFair Arena in San Antonio and in Waco. However, fan support was weak in the football and baseball-dominated city, and the Rockets averaged less than 5000 fans per game during their first Houston season. It was mused that the local churches in Waco drew more attendance than the Rockets.

Before the start of the 1971 season, Coach Alex Hannum left for the Denver Nuggets of the American Basketball Association. Tex Winter was hired as the new coach shortly before the team was sold. Coach Winter applied a triple-post offensive system that contrasted with the offensive style to which Hayes was accustomed. Houston soon traded Hayes to the Baltimore Bullets for Jack Marin. Lack of success did little to capture the city's attention, and in the Spring of 1973, following the Rockets 10th straight loss, Winter was relieved of his duties.

In 1975, with Coach Johnny Egan's guidance and Tomjanovich, Murphy, and Mike Newlin leading the way, the Rockets made their first appearance in the playoffs since arriving in Houston. The Rockets defeated the New York Knicks (led by Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe) in the first round, but lost to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semi-finals.

At the start of the 1977 season, the Rockets negotiated a trade with the Buffalo Braves to acquire Moses Malone, who as a high school star made the unprecedented decision of bypassing college basketball to sign on as a professional with the Utah Stars of the ABA in 1974. The Rockets defeated the Washington Bullets in the 1977 Eastern Conference semi-final, but lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in the Conference Finals. Malone made an impressive showing against Washington's Elvin Hayes and waning star Wes Unseld.

On December 9, 1977, in a game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Kevin Kunnert got into a fight with the Lakers' Kermit Washington. As Tomjanovich approached the altercation, Washington turned and threw a punch, landing squarely in the face of an approaching Tomjanovich, causing extensive structural damage to his cranium. The shocking scene became the defining moment of the Rockets' 1977-78 season as well as the playing careers of Tomjanovich and Washington. Tomjanovich spent the next five months in rehabilitation and returned to appear in the 1978 All-Star Game. A book by John Feinstein recording the events surrounding this event and the different paths that Tomjanovich and Washington have taken since that day is entitled andquot;The Punch.andquot;

Malone received the 1979 MVP Award. Not exceptionally big or quick, he used footwork and positioning to become a successful center in the NBA. Malone, Murphy, and Tomjanovich all played in the 1979 NBA All-Star Game. Rick Barry was signed for the 1979 season from the Golden State Warriors in exchange for John Lucas. Barry averaged a modest 13.5 points and set a new NBA record, posting a .947 free-throw percentage for the season. He would play one more year for the Rockets before retiring in 1980.

The Rockets went 47-35 in 1978-79, Nissalke's last season as coach. They finished second in the Central Division, losing two straight to Atlanta in a best-of-three first-round series. <bio>Vist the daily source for basketball news, http://www.basketballxpress.com </bio>

We show only sixteen of them here and healing is including in this list. See the faith building paragraphs below.

Deut 7:9and11

9Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; 11Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them. (KJV)

Notice that in verse 9, God calls his covenant with Abraham both "covenant and mercy." He said, "Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;"

In other words, the Abrahamic covenant was a "covenant of mercy."

Next, see that the keeping of the Law of Moses enabled the Old Testament Abrahamic Seed Group to maintain the blessings given them by birth in the Abrahamic covenant.

But how did keeping the Law of Moses enable God to continue the Abrahamic blessings of healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation for them?

In the Old Testament, when a Jew sinned, Moses' law commanded that a certain sacrifice be made for their specific sin. When they made the proper sacrifice in the proper manner, God deferred judgment on the sin until Jesus came. Then He pushed that waiting sin under Jesus' blood. This way the keeping of the Law, including the sacrifices, enabled God to continue the Abrahamic blessings without interruption.

Here, we see that the law of Moses was given to maintain the blessings the Hebrews had been born with in the Abrahamic covenant, which again, is called the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers.

Keep in mind that the law of Moses was never intended to enable the Old Testament Abrahamic Seed Group to obtain salvation and blessings by the works of the law. Instead, it was given to enable them to maintain the Abrahamic blessings they were born with in the Abrahamic covenant.

Furthermore, verse 11 above gives God's command for them to keep the commandments of Moses while the next verse, (12) shows what happens for them if they do in fact keep Moses' commandments. He keeps for them, without interruption, the list of blessings given below.

Deut 7:12 12Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers: (KJV)

Here's a list of these blessings. This list is taken from Deuteronomy 7:13-15.

God will love thee He will bless thee He will multiply thee He will also bless the fruit of thy womb He will bless the fruit of thy land He will bless thy corn He will bless thy wine He will bless thine oil He will bless the increase of thy kine He will bless the flocks of thy sheep He will do all this in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee. Thou shalt be blessed above all people There shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle. The LORD will take away from thee all sickness He will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee Instead, He will lay them upon all them that hate thee.

Keep in mind, dear Gentile Christian, that although this is an Old Testament Scripture, you are grafted and transferred into the big middle of it on an equal footing with the saved Jews whom I call The Abrahamic Seed Group.

As a matter of fact, the promise of the land is exclusively Jewish. But other Scriptures give us Gentiles the rest of the world. The world is ours and the land of Palestine is theirs. But the healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation is just as much ours today as it is the Jews.

If you will take the time to meditate upon the preceding list of blessings above, the magnitude of their content will overwhelm you. They will blow your mind. Even the fear of childlessness is addressed.

Can you see anything that is not covered for you? Did God leave anything out? What else is there? No wonder God called his covenant with Abraham his "covenant and mercy!" Is there anymore that could be contained in the term "mercy" than what we find here?

In a flash, we Gentile Christians were transferred to this group. Praise the Lord! We are now in the group where the Old Testament Seed Group have been since Genesis 12. We are in the Near Group who have possessed healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation since the days beginning in Genesis 12. <bio>Dr. Jay Snell authored eleven books proving the healing, prosperity, family well being, salvation, eternal security and pretribulation rapture provided for Christians in the Abrahamic covenant. http://www.jaysnell.org </bio>

In June 1986 archaeologists of Tel Aviv University announced discovery of two small silver amulets. These two silver scrolls were found in 1979 deep inside a burial cave at a site known as Ketef Hinnom, west of the old city of Jerusalem. They were hidden at the back of the tomb embedded in pottery fashioned as early as the seventh century BC.

Seven years later the fragile scrolls were opened and their texts deciphered. The scrolls contain an excerpt from Numbers 6:24-26, also known as the Priestly Benediction. In English the verses read: "The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace." On the scrolls we find the texts:

Amulet 1: concluding benediction (lines 14=9619):

"[=85] May Yahweh bless you [and] keep you. May Yahweh cause his face to shine [on you] =85]."

Amulet 2: benediction (lines 5=9612):

"[=85] May Yahweh bless you and keep you. May Yahweh cause his face to shine [on] you and give you peace [=85]."

The location of the find and analysis of the Hebrew on the scroll confirm a date close to 600 BC, perhaps earlier =96 long before the capture of Jerusalem and the Babylonian exile.

The importance of this find can hardly be overstated. It proves this section of Numbers was written at least 2,600 years ago. This Old Testament passage is 400 years older than the oldest Dead Sea Scroll manuscripts, and perhaps even older yet. The age of the text may prove a nail in the coffin of the Documentary Hypothesis theories that the Pentateuch was not written by Moses, or that it was not even known in Moses' time.

Those theories speculate that large segments of the first five books of the Bible originated in the period of Ezra: 400=96500 BC. In this debate, some of the arguments revolve around the use of YHWH, the divine name of God (often rendered "Jehovah" or "Yahweh"), which is said not to have been in use before this time. The silver scrolls, dated before 586 BC, contain that name. In fact, this is the earliest the name had been found in any dig in Jerusalem.

Therefore the silver scrolls are not only the oldest extant (still in existence) text of the Bible, they also provide compelling support to the authorship of the first five books of the Bible by Moses. <bio>Rob VandeWeghe is a sceptic turned Christian by studying the foundations for Christianity.
A writer said, "The shores of fortune are covered with the stranded wrecks of men of brilliant ability but who have lacked courage, faith and decision and have therefore perished in sight of more resolute but less capable adventurers, who succeeded in making port." Most of the times we start the beginning of the year with dreams, goals or aspirations but one common occurrence to most people is that by the end of the first or second month, they have completely detoured and forgotten about all they have planned to do.

When we have something to achieve, it is our style to look at the obstacles we have to overcome instead of looking at what we need to start with immediately. When we list everything we need for a certain project/vision, we get overwhelmed most of the times and will want to wait till we have everything at our disposal. If this is your approach to visions, I want to tell you that you may NEVER start at all and procrastination will always be something you will indulge in. You will be waiting for a breakthrough that may NEVER come and you will keep postponing what you are supposed to do.

When God told Moses he will deliver the Israelites, the question He asked Moses was, "What is in your hand?" Moses wouldn't have believed the rod he has been holding for years will be enough to get started the process of liberating the Israelites. The sling in David's hand was enough to wipe Goliath off the face of the earth. He didn't need all the armoury in Israel to slay Goliath, he went with what he had and victory was his.

If the above-named have looked at the task before them and compared it with what they have, they wouldn't have become great and OBSCURITY would have been their lot.

When God has planted a dream in your heart, the first thing for you to do, is to START! I have heard people say it is good to count the cost and I don't disagree with that but counting the cost in order for you to stay action will do you no good at all. If you will need about a million to start a project, instead of waiting for a lucky break, won't it be wise for you to break the money down so that your inability to start with the required money won't hinder you.

One important thing I have learnt about taking action is that you never know where you will get to until you begin to act. The breakthrough you may be expecting may even be tied to your getting started. I have seen a man who started his business with a mere $650 and has grown it to over $250 million businesses in this same country. I believe the man wouldn't have done anything if he was to look at all the things he would need for the business to get to the level he wants it to be. So if there is anything you want to carry out this year, don't allow anything deter you from starting. You don't need all the resources in the world to get started, just determine that you will do something and DO IT ANYWAY.

If a snail and a rabbit start a race, the rabbit will get to the finishing line before the snail, but the snail will also get to the finish line EVENTUALLY. The truth is that no matter how long it took the two of them, they both crossed the finish line. Others may have all they needed, but that shouldn't deter you from starting your own. We all have different races to run and our paces won't definitely be the same.

This is to your Success,

Adebola Oni <bio>Adebola Oni is a life changer.
One of the greatest television comedies in history, Cheers is an absolute must see for anyone who's ever had a regular hangout "where everybody knows your name". The shows centers itself around a friendly neighborhood Boston bar named Cheers. The bar is owned by former Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Sam Malone (Ted Danson). Sam has two employees -- bartender Ernie "Coach" Pantusso (Nicholas Colasanto) and waitress Carla Tortelli (Rhea Perlman). Things are great for Sam until he hires a jilted graduate student named Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) to waitress in the bar. Regular barflies Norm Peterson (George Wendt) and Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger) round out a strong supporting cast...

The Cheers DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "Give Me A Ring Sometime" in which the gang at Cheers first meets Diane when she spends the day in the bar waiting for her fiancé, distinguished Boston University professor Sumner Sloane, to return from meeting with his ex-wife (where he hopes to retrieve his grandmother's ring for Diane). Sumner never returns, resulting in Diane accepting a job at the bar... Other notable episodes from Season 1 include "Sam At Eleven" in which Sam's ex-teammate turned sportscaster Dave Richards (Fred Dryer) arrives at the bar to interview Sam for the eleven o'clock news only to end up ditching him for John McEnroe, and "Pick a Con... Any Con" in which Coach is being played by a conman, prompting Sam to enlist the help of Harry the Conman (Harry Anderson) in order to get Coach's money back.
One of the funniest TV comedies ever produced, Cheers is essential viewing for anyone who's ever frequented a hangout "where everyone knows your name". The shows focuses on a friendly neighborhood Boston bar named Cheers (the Bull and Finch Pub in real life). Owned by former Boston Red Sox reliefer Sam Malone (Ted Danson), Cheers has three employees other than Sam: Woody Boyd (Woody Harrelson), Carla Tortelli (Rhea Pearlman), and Diane Chambers (Shelley Long). Celebrated psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammar) and his wife Dr. Lilith Sternin Crane (Bebe Neuwirth) are regular customers of the bar (with Dr. Crane later playing the lead role in his own series, Frasier). Norm Peterson (George Wendt) and Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger), regular barflies, round out an excellent supporting cast of characters.

The Cheers (Season 5) DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere in which the audience discovers that Sam's marriage proposal from the previous year's season finale was directed at Diane. However, Diane feels that Sam is on the rebound from Janet, so she declines - requesting a more romantic setting for their engagement.
Remember Sam Malone from the old Cheers TV show?

Sam. A guy who doesn't like rules.

I used to have trouble with all those "Thou Shall Nots," too. And - let's be honest - God does have a lot of "Thou Shall Nots" for us. He does have some standards, some directions and some rules. And it does grate against our ego to be told NOT to do something, doesn't it?

See we live in a society that stresses ego... self... empowerment... being assertive... looking out for number one.

And if we concede there is a God who has a personal interest in who we are and what we do... then... as God, he is number one. He is to be obeyed. And that... let's again be honest now... that goes against everything in us. God, it seems to many, is a sort of cosmic killjoy.

But what if those rules aren't to cramp our style but to help us?

back in the 1990's then working as a journalst, i was sent to Saudi Arabia to cover Operation Desert Storm and the Persian Gulf War. And I remember being taken out into the desert and videotaping one of our army special forces experts showing a group of Marines some of the very sophisticated explosives and land mines that the Iraqis had buried in the sand of Southern Kuwait.

The commander explained how these tiny things could tear a man in half if stepped on. But they were so sophisticated it took a long time to remove and because the marines were going to go screaming in hard and fast, there wasn't time to remove the Iraqis mines first.

What the special forces would do, said the commander, would be to sweep the area with mine detectors and, whenever one was found, they'd mark it. They'd place a little warning flag in the sand right next to it that said "Don't Step Here."

It was a like "Thou Shall Not." And guess what? Nobody minded that prohibition. The command not to step here wasn't something to cramp the soldiers' style. It was meant to save their lives.

That... I submit... is the same motive God has when we read of some of his rules in the Bible.

Here's an escapabe fact: If there is a God, then we have to accept the fact that we are accountable to him. And that means there indeed are some rules.

And maybe those rules aren't so bad after all. Maybe they're there to make our lives better instead of just restrictive. Think of the lives that would be whole, the families still together, the sexual diseases we wouldn't have, the societal problems of drug abuse, alcoholism, violence, crime and dishonesty in government that would be diminished if only more people heeded those Thou Shall Nots.

One more thing about Sam Malone. In this life, youth and good looks fade away. Good times run out. What happens when Sam loses his hair, loses his looks?

Earnest Hemingway was a man's man. A great, brilliant novelist. A hunter. Fisherman. Lady's man. But all that wild life caught up with him. He became a raging alcoholic. He found his health fading, his sexual powers waning and... since he didn't believe in God... he said the only thing he could do was to control the way and means with which he left this life so he took a nickel-plated shotgun and blew his brains out.

If there is no God... you see... there is no point. <bio>Mike Wendland Online Christian Shopper http://www.onlinechristianshopper.com Mike is a pastor from a large Bible-believing church in the Midwest who founded the Online Christian Shopper Web ste to make it easy for Christians to practice lifestyle evangelism.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been the ability to see God work in other people's lives and ministries. I have had the good fortune to see God show up in ways that only could be God, because the project couldn't have been done without Him. Many times the outcome was so miraculous it made chills run up and down my spine.

On the other hand, I have had the misfortune of seeing inexperienced pastors who absolutely knew God was telling them to buy land, develop it, and design facilities that were so magnificent that they would make Donald Trump blush. Only to subsequently fail.

What makes the difference between a project that allows God to work in your ministry and a project that is so presumptuous upon God that it borderlines on irresponsible behavior?

One lesson that we all should give heed to, is the lesson God gave Moses. While God gave Moses a vision of going to the promise land, it took him 40 years of wandering in the wilderness to realize the full potential of Gods promise. Too many times we think that God is giving us the whole vision and that it all will be accomplished immediately. Sometimes he gives us the big picture, but wants us to take one step at a time.

When you are looking to design a new church, and to construct new facilities there are some rules of thumb that I have found to keep the proper balance between "Counting the Cost" and "Keeping the Faith".

Know Your Total Budget

There are multiple costs that go into creating a realistic total project budget. You have ALTA surveys, environmental studies, traffic studies, civil engineering costs, architectural fees mechanical, electrical and HVAC engineering costs, permit fees, impact fees, off site development fees, mitigation costs, closing costs, the list can go on and on dependent upon your particular project. What novice construction owners don't usually realize is the fact that only about 60%-65% of their total project budget will actually go into construction of their building.

Design A Phased Project

Just as Moses, didn't get the opportunity to see the promise land in the first year of his journey, you may not get to build the entire campus in the first phase of your project either.

It is very important that when you sit down with your church design and construction professional that you have prioritized your ministry space, programmed the right sizing of your buildings, looked at structural requirements for phasing of your project, and have developed a comprehensive master-plan for your site, and kept all of these components within the reach of your current budget.

Let's say that you have plans to build a big modern sanctuary that seats 800 people, an administrative space, and a family life center. If you design the buildings in a way that they all have to be built at the same time, without consideration of phasing possibilities, it is very possible that your architectural drawings could turn into "cartoons" that could never be built because the building costs become prohibitive. However if you have designed correctly and phased the projects into bite sizes that you can afford, you are well on your way to a successful project. If God shows up in a way that allows you to build all four phases of your project at once, great, but if not, you haven't let your people down, you haven't wasted Gods resources on architectural plans and feasibility studies that now have to be done all over again.

Remember that building a "House of Worship" is God's work and that a successful project requires the proper balance of faith and finances to make it all work. <bio>Bruce Anderson is a seasoned veteran and highly acclaimed expert in church design and construction.
The following Scriptures describe the condition of us Gentiles before we received Jesus as our Savior. They also describe what supernaturally happened to us immediately upon receiving Him as our Savior.

But there's more in these verses. As a matter of fact, these are some of the most meaningful Scriptures we have.

Eph 2:12-13 12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. (KJV)

First, we see the five things that describe our hopeless condition prior to our salvation through the blood of Christ:

We were without Christ. We had been alienated from the commonwealth of Israel. We were strangers from the Abrahamic covenant promises. Because of the above three, we had no hope. We were without God in the world.

Before we can show what happened to us Geniles upon receiving Christ, we must identify the "two groups" in verse thirteen above. Only then can we understand what happened to us and apply what it means to us Gentiles today.

These "two groups" are called the "far off group" and the "nigh group" respectively. You see, in the Old Testament, the Gentiles were identified by the term "far off" while the saved Jews were identified by the term "nigh or near."

We Gentiles were the "far off group" and the saved Jews were the "nigh or near group."

Here are three Scriptures from the Old Testament which identify these two groups for you.

Ps 148:14 14He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the LORD. (KJV)

This verse identifies the children of Israel as the "near group."

Micah 4:3 3And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. (KJV)

This verse identifies the "nations" (not Jews) as the "far off group." Obviously, the word "nations" or nationalities includes people other than Jews.

The next verse shows both groups in one verse. You will find this verse quoted by Paul in Ephesians chapter two.

Isa 57:19 19I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him. (KJV)

Now here is Paul's quote in Ephesians 2:17 of Isaiah's statement above.

Eph 2:17 17And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. (KJV)

Now the "far off group," as we learned above, had none of the five blessings from Abraham's covenant while the "near group" had them all.

You remember that the saved Jews were born with the five things because of their place, by birth, in the Abrahamic covenant.

You also remember that when a Jew accepted Christ as God's final sacrifice for sin under Moses' law, they maintained what they were born with in Abraham's covenant. They maintained their birthright of healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation.

You also remember that a Gentile is grafted into these same Abrahamic blessings of healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation the very moment he/she receives Christ as his/her savior.

In other words, we Gentiles get these blessings by the "new birth." Conversely, a Jew was born with them because of his/place place in the Abrahamic covenant. Put differently, he/she got them by his physical birth and maintains them by the New Birth.

Again, to say it another way, when he/she accepts Christ as his/her final sacrifice for sin under Moses law, he/she maintains the healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation he/she was born with in the Abrahamic covenant.

Now when Gentiles accept Christ as their personal Savior, they are instantly and supernaturally transferred, by the blood of Christ, from the "far off group" into the "near group" on an absolute equal footing with the saved Jews. Who are the saved Jews?

In the Old Testament, the saved Jews were those of Israel who made the proper sacrifice for their sins as prescribed by Moses' law. In so doing, they maintained what they were born with in Abraham's covenant.

In the New Testament, the saved Jews are those who accept Jesus as God's final sacrifice for sin, rather than the blood of bulls and goats required in Moses' law.

Wonder of all wonders! We Gentiles are supernaturally moved from one group to another by the blood of Jesus. We are transferred from the "far "off group" into the "near group" by the supernatural power of God. This supernatural transfer is caused by our accepting the blood of Jesus as the final and full payment for our sins.

Now we Gentiles are transferred into the same group of saved Jews who possessed healing, family well being, prosperity and salvation beginning in Genesis 12. This is where God began making the Abraham covenant that contained 60 promises.

Now that we Gentile Christians have Christ, we are not aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and we are right at home in the covenant promises of Abraham.

Consequently, we have hope and we have God in this world, as well as in the world to come. Now we share the blessings of healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation equally with the saved Jews. <bio>Dr. Jay Snell authored eleven books on the healing, prosperity, family well being, eternal security and pre tribulation rapture provided for Christian Gentiles in the Abrahamic covenant. http://www.jaysnell.org </bio>

Musical mobiles are one of the most old fashioned, and yet one of the best baby accessories to have in the room.

2. Duvets and Pillows- Select these carefully for placing them on the baby's crib, or anywhere else in the room, like on the baby rocking chair, etc. Make sure they are soft, comfortable, and are highly washable too.

3. Diaper Stackers- These are absolute must haves in the baby's room. Select them such that they are not only useful as you might want them to be, but they also look great, going well with the room theme. Get diaper stackers, matching well with the wall color, or the window curtain patterns to create a strong overall effect.

4. Toy Bags- These baby accessories come in very handy, especially when you go on a cleaning spree in order to arrange things in the baby's room. Get a well designed large toy bag that be huddled away in a corner to take care of all your baby's toys when he or she does not require them.

5. Wall Hangings- You can use quite a number of wall hangings in designs of popular carton characters, or wall hangings according to the room theme to add a touch of luxury to the baby's room. These are great bedroom accessories, and can enhance the appearance of the room to quite an extent.

6. Window Valance- Nice and fuzzy window valances, in soft patterns make nice accessories in the baby's bedroom. Just make sure that you put them up well.

7. Moses Beds or Bassinets- Moses Beds and Bassinets are some of most popular baby accessories. They look nice, and do not cost too much either. The only problem with these is that they cannot be used for too long since as the baby grows older you would need to shift him or her to a larger bed.

8. Throw rug- A soft, comfortable throw rug, put carelessly on the floor of the baby's room can be a great baby accessory to have. Not only does it look good, it also helps you make sure that as the baby starts making an attempt at crawling, he or she does not end up with a scratched knee or bruised palms.

9. Wall Border- You can use these to decorate the baby's room. However, do not make the mistake of overdoing anything when it comes to using wall borders, and keep its use reasonable to get the best effects. Opting for wall borders in designs that can be left to remain in the room even as the baby grows a few years older is a smart idea.

10. Soft toys- Soft toys look delicate and sweet, just like the babies. No wonder they go amazingly well in baby's rooms and you can buy lots of them. Besides decorating the room, they also provide the baby something to play with. Make sure you keep them clean though, since unclean soft toys can cause diseases, including asthma.<bio>Gotobaby was founded in 2002 and ships from New York, CT, and Wisconsin.
Lent is the period of 40 days of fasting that is preceding Easter. Often this 40 day period is paralleled with the story of Jesus being in the desert for 40 days being tempted by the devil. (Matthew 4:1-11). And this is the reading for the first Sunday of Lent to remind us of that parallel. Other famous 40s that Lent mimics are Noah and how it rained for a period of 40 days. The Israelites were enslaved for 40 years prior to Moses leading them out of captivity. Moses and the Israelites were in the was in the desert for 40 years as the tribes of Israel wandered looking for the Promised Land. Originally Lent was no more than a word used for the Spring Season, similar to autumn being referred to as fall. But in Modern time its a period for fasting, prayer and alms giving. So with a long rich history of the period of 40 days or years it seems that when the church instituted Lent it was made for a period of 40 days. Uniquely the 40 days of Lent n the Catholic Church are 40 days not counting Sundays.

Lent is that period set aside by the church to prepare you heart for the Easter Season and using the time to atone for sinful ways and spend time in extra prayer. The church formally asks that you do this via prayer and penance and almsgiving. On a personal note I have to say I particularly like the Ash Wednesday reading that explains that when you fast don't wear it on your sleeve so everyone knows. When you pray don't pray on the street corner pray in the privacy of your own home and God will take care of you. I think this is a powerful message and it is always a great reminder (Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18) to start of Lent in how we are commissioned to act and react.

Lent runs though Holy week starting with Palm Sunday, and the commemoration of Jesus triumphant return to Jerusalem all the way though his passion, crucifixion and then the glorious celebration of His Resurrection. The Sacred Triduum is among the highest holy days of the year take place at the end of the Lenten season and the Easter Sunday. They are Holy Thursday or Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

On Maundy Thursday and now known as Holy Thursday, it is the commemoration of the Last Supper including the washing of feet. And most importantly during Holy Thursday Mass, all the hosts are blessed which will be used all the way though Easter Vigil. There are no masses celebrated on Good Friday and what is most fascinating about this is that the Holy Thursday mass does not end. It is left opened and finalized until the end of Good Friday Services. This is one of the most special times in the church and everyone should make a point to participate in all three days. It is steeped in tradition and a great way to end the Lenten Season. <bio>Beth Guide is the webmaster for http://www.rosary-religious-inspirational-gifts.com </bio>

An admittedly small upstart group of Palestinians, comparing the quality of their governance with the orderly procedures in Israel, have decided the best thing that can happen to them is to give up on their own government.

As a result, they are asking Israel to keep the members of the Hamas government the Israelis arrested in response to the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier by militants.

Even more surprisingly, they are advocating a one-state solution, with the Gaza Strip and West Bank volunteering to become part of Israel.

To let their voices be heard, they took to the streets, waving banners that read, "Palestine, No; Israel, Yes!"; "I Almost Speak Hebrew Already"; and "Let's Make A Deal."

Israel reacted with caution to the unexpected development, with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert saying, "Let them return our soldier; then maybe we can talk."

When a reporter pointed out that if Gaza and the West Bank became part of Israel, the soldier would technically already be in Israel, Olmert replied, "Yes, but we want him back in his own home, and we want him there alive. Then we can do a headcount."

Asked what he meant by a headcount, he said, "As you know, we insist that Israel have a Jewish majority. It's only fair that, in the entire Middle East, there should be at least one country that does. After all, our ancestors were here, too, and that's why we set up the country. So we have to determine with that many more Palestinians in Israel, do we have a Jewish majority? Right now, I'd say no way, Hosni."

The reporter asked, "Then the latest Palestinian proposal Israel to become a one-state solution would not be acceptable to you?"

"I don't see how, unless they agreed to limit procreation for a few decades while the Israelis agreed to step on the gas. Then maybe we could work something out."

"Such as?"

"Oh, maybe they could have our government without voting rights. You must remember that one of the inconvenient things about having a Palestinian majority that could vote is that I could be replaced by a Palestinian. We can't have that. But I would like to see both Israelis and Palestinians happy."

"Happy? Wow, that's asking a lot, isn't it?" the reporter commented. "Has that condition ever prevailed in the Middle East?"

"Not in my lifetime, but I'm an idealist," Olmert replied. "To tell the truth, we should all only be happy in this region. It would be the greatest thing since sliced Challah bread."

Then his mind wandered back, searching for a time when people in the Middle East might have been happy. "You know, happiness for everyone in this region would be almost as great as the wonderful day the burning bush lit up and God waved Moses over to give him the Ten Commandments. By the way, did you ever think how extraordinary it is that the finger of God came out of the bush and carved the Commandments in stone just for Moses?"

"Well," the reporter said, considering the matter, "let's just say I never had a bush light up to give me a message."

"Oh, I don't know many people who have. But, what's even more extraordinary is, when he came down and saw the Israelites worshipping the golden calf, he threw the stone tablets down and broke them. But we still have them."

"Yes, we do. What do you think he did, pieced them back together again?"

"Maybe. But I like to imagine a more dramatic sequel. What if he went back up, apologized to the bush, and asked for another copy?"

"Oh, well, that's interesting."

"Yes," the prime minister went on, "And, to prove the generosity of God, he got it! To me the second copy is as important to me as the Christian Second Coming. Well, so much for Biblical chitchat. I must get back to governing Israel, regardless of whether it will only be to govern what we consider the current state of Israel or we decide the Palestinians can have our government, too." <bio>Tom Attea, humorist and creator of http://NewsLaugh.com, has had six shows produced Off-Broadway and has written comedy for TV.
If the first opinion is correct, and it seems to be so because they are stylistically similar, then it is quite possible that all the other 6 books might have been a part of Deuteronomy.

One of the most prominent Kings in the Deuteronomist History is Josiah. The son of great king David, Josiah himself became a king when he was only 8 years of age. He was very righteous in the eyes of the Lord. After Hilkiah the high priest discovers the Book of Covenant (2 Kings 22:8), Josiah get rids of the household gods, the idols, the mediums and spiritists, pagan priests and temples. He listens to the words of the Book of the Law and gets very upset: neither he nor his fathers have obeyed and acted in accordance with what's written in that Book. Josiah tears his robe. God is pleased with that. Although He's still angry, God forgives Josiah and promises that his eyes won't see all the disaster that He-God will bring on the place.

Now Josiah actually is one of the best Kings. He can be compared to Moses only in his holiness. He's great in comparison to Solomon, who messed up his relationship with God by having too many foreign wives. He's even greater than David, his father, who also had spoiled Lord's attitude towards him by messing with Uriah the Levite's wife, and later sending the soldier to death. Other kings were a complete mess.

Josiah was the one to start a reform in the government =96 centralization of religion. He closed all the religious centers around the country and made Jerusalem a Mecca for religious tourism. The Book of the Law thanks to him became a part of Old Testament and a part of the Deuteronomy Book. Josiah also changed the celebration of the Passover tradition. It was celebrated by Samuel in a very important religious center, Shiloh (priests of Moses =96 perhaps they were the actual creators of the Code of Law, as it cares about them more than of the kings; 1 Samuel 1:3-24); by David's family in Bethlehem. Deuteronomy says you have to celebrate Passover in some special, God chosen place. If God hesitates and doesn't choose one on time, then the holiday can be celebrated in various places. Josiah is also supposed to be the one who fulfilled a three hundred year old prophecy, so he's a really special one for the Jews.

In 2 Samuel 7:1-17, through Nathan the prophet, God gives David His Promise. He promises to take care of David's offspring, help him establish his kingdom, as David's kid is going to be the one who shall build a temple in the Lord's name. And the throne of his kingdom God promises to establish forever. Abijah King of Judah and the ancestor of David committed all the sins his father had done before him; he was not as concerned about God as David had been. But David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord, so God could not break the promise given to Abijah's forefather and still made Israel a strong kingdom.

But later despite of God's promise Judah gets destroyed by the king of Babylon (and the temple built by Solomon as well). That happens because of Manasseh who sinned against God including shedding innocent blood. God simply could not forgive him for filling Israel with the blood of innocent (2 Kings 24:2-18, 25:1-26).

Almost forgot to mention Solomon's Covenant with God. Solomon has been the king of Israel for more than forty years, and he built a temple dedicated to God. God was very nice to inform Solomon though that in case he or his sons turn away from God and stop observing his commands and decrees, He shall then cut Israel off the land given by the Lord, reject the temple that has been consecrated in His name. Solomon turned out to be an OK king, not as great as David, but still fine, better than some of his descendents.

The author of the Deuteronomst History series could be Jeremiah. His father was a high priest (Hilkiah), one of the Moses' descendents (Anathoth priests), and among his friends were: Ahikam the son of Josiah's secretary and Jeremiahs own secretary Baruch, who served him as a `typewriter'. So they were quite close to the king. I could be the king himself, but that is the version that is harder to prove. Another assumption may be, that it was Baruch himself, but it would be hard to imagine as Jeremiah only could be the source of information for him.

As the original law was destroyed in fire, Ezra had performed the duty of a final redactor. He copied the remaining stuff down and the rest he claims to have been dictated to him by the voice from the bush. He claims that God visited him and gave him inspiration to write it the way it always had been. He rewrote the Jewish tradition two centuries after the birth of Christ. It's even hard to believe it. He took all the different sources and compiled them together. He had no right to miss a single source otherwise the book could be called not real.

He put all the stories together so that the difference was not seen. <bio>The article was produced by the writer of http://masterpapers.com.
Jesus is all about vision.

In John 14:6, one of His classic "I am" statements Jesus said, "I am the way . . . and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Jesus is the way to God, the road ahead, the road not yet taken. There is great anticipation in those thoughts. We follow the One who defines Himself as vision incarnate, pathway personified and the future mapped. The impact of His self disclosure, "I am," reminiscent of God speaking to Moses at the burning bush, puts an eternal finality to the future, in the present tense, "am" (not "will be"). Just as he said from the cross, "It is finished."

He did it; He accomplished it; and now we can live it, for after all He is "the life," also.

Live today confidently, like you are living a completed reality, a done deal in Him. What a joy to know that not only can Jesus "fill all my vision," as the hymn writer said, but He is my vision: hope expected, hope anticipated and hope eternally realized, today.

It is so easy to lose our perspective on eternity. When that happens, we can't see clearly. Yes, that is a difficult perspective to maintain because of the world we live in. We are bombarded by life around us and we are sinful human beings living in a fallen sinful world.

That is why we need to spend time in God's Word so that we can, as followers of Christ, get a true perspective how to live our life. If we have proper perspective, in accordance with God's Word, we can clearly see and value the things, which matter for eternity and the cause of Christ.

In 1 Peter 4:12, Peter writes to his readers that they should not be surprised by the painful trials that they are suffering.

Throughout the Bible we encounter incident upon incident in which the people of God have undergone trials and persecution. You can spend some time looking up and reading their stories.

In the Old Testament, we encounter the persecution of Moses Daniel, Elijah, and others.

In the Gospels we see the actual persecution of God himself, in the crucifixion of His Son, Jesus Christ.

In the book of Acts, we are given insight into the degree Saul persecuted believers in the early Church and the extent he was later persecuted himself.

Throughout the Bible and recorded history, the list goes on and on.

However, to these believers whom Peter is addressing, he has to tell them to not be surprised by the trials they are undergoing. Should not history and the words of Jesus Christ have been enough that these Christians should have expected this to be the case? Probably not.

For many of us, there is a false mentality where we want to believe that as long we serve and follow Christ, our life will be smooth and easy. One of the most popular theologies of our present day is the "Name It and Claim It" and "Health, Wealth, and Prosperity" gospels. The simplistic version of these theologies is that if we ask God for it, he gives it to us. However, we look at our own life and the lives of fellow believers (especially those in the Bible), we know that is not the case.

God's promise is that by accepting Him as Lord and Savior, He will give us eternal life (John 3:16), not an incident free life on this earth. When we share God's message with those who don't know Christ, we need to share this truth.

Additionally, one other truth we need be aware of is that no matter how difficult our trials may be, God's promise is to provide strength in our weakness (2 Corinthians 9and10).

Just as Peter instructed these early believers to not be surprised by the trials they were undergoing, we need to realize the fact that we live in a fallen, sinful world. As a result, we too will suffer trials even though, and maybe because, we claim Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

But when we can see clearly, we understand. And that gives us strength... and hope.<bio>The author is publisher of the Online Christian Shopper store specializing in Christian T-Shirts and the Christian Jewelry Online Christian jewelery store.</bio>
