There are a number of medications that are used to treat acid reflux. Some are over the counter antacids and others are prescription drugs. If over-the-counter medications are not treating your symptoms then you should consult a physician.

Antacids neutralize the digestive acids and are for mild symptoms of acid reflux. If you are going to use antacids, take them for relief of occasional instances of heartburn or acid reflux. Most antacids are available over the counter without a prescription as they are the first drugs recommended to relieve mild symptoms of acid reflux.

All antacids rely on three main ingredients. Those ingredients are magnesium, calcium, or aluminum. Magnesium salts come in the form of magnesium carbonate, magnesium trisilicate and magnesium hydroxide. Milk of Magnesia is magnesium hydroxide. There is a major side effect of magnesium salts and that is diarrhea. Magnesium salts combined with aluminum will prevent this unwanted side effect. Products containing both magnesium salts and aluminum are Mylanta and Maalox.

Calcium is another treatment used to counteract the symptoms of acid reflux. Calcium carbonate is contained in such products as Tums and Alka Seltzer. Calcium is a fast acting antacid that can cause constipation. Taking calcium carbonate for quite a long time can lead to kidney failure. This is rare though.

Aluminum salts are available in products such as Amphogel and Alternagel. Constipation is a side effect of taking aluminum salts. People that take large amounts of antacids are at risk to eventually develop osteoporosis, which is a progressive loss of bone density or thinning of the bone tissue, thereby increasing vulnerability to fractures. However, regular exercise along with vitamin and mineral supplements can reduce or even reverse the loss of bone density. Osteoporosis can also result from hormone deficiency, dietary deficiency or disease.

Liquid antacids generally work faster than tablets. The liquids are also more potent than tablets. Continued long time usage of antacids will increase the risk of kidney stones.

Some Prescription medications act as Receptor Antagonists, or H2 blockers. These drugs inhibit the production of stomach acid. When there is less acid in the stomach, there is a reduced chance of it agitating up into the esophagus. Some popular H2 blockers include Zantax and Pepcid AC. H2 blockers are available in different strengths. These particular drugs are available from over-the-counter strength to prescription strength.

Other Prescription medications such as Prilosec and Prevacid are proton pump inhibitors. They work to reduce acid in the stomach. This type of remedy alters the stomach's natural processes for acid production and regulation. It is sometimes necessary to do so for relief, but it is important to investigate alternative remedies for acid reflux symptom relief.

Whatever method of therapy you select, always consult your doctor! <bio>Thomas D.
Calcium hydroxide is one of the chemical compounds that are not associated in calcium supplement manufacturing because of the presence of acidic properties. It takes the form of either white powder or colorless crystal which is produced when another chemical compound which is the calcium oxide is quenched with water. It can also be produced by the mixture of the aqueous (water-based) solution of sodium hydroxide and the aqueous solution of calcium chloride.

When processed under heat, it decomposes into water and calcium oxide. One of the products, which is the lime water (formed by a suspension of fine particles of calcium hydroxide in water) is considered to be a medium-strength base which reacts viciously with acids as well as assails many metals in the presence of water.

Due to its sturdy basic properties, calcium hydroxide is used on various applications, such as the following:

• When in the form of lime, it is used as a sewage treatment and for the improvement of acid soils.

• It is an active ingredient in the production of plaster, whitewash, and mortar.

• It also acts as an alkaline which is used as a non-lye substitute in lye-free hair relaxers.

• It is also used as a reagent in the following applications:

o For the reef aquarium as a bio-available calcium additive solution for organisms inside the aquarium that uses calcium such as snails, algae, corals, and hard tube worms. o For the tanning industry as a neutralizer on extra acids. o For the petroleum refining application as an ingredient for manufacturing oil additives such as sulphatic and fanatic. o For the chemical application as an ingredient in manufacturing calcium stearate. o For water processing such as alcoholic and soda drinks. o For clearing magnesium and carbonate contents of calcium in manufacturing salt for food.

• It is also used as a filler on the following applications:

o Solid oil manufacturing. o Brake pad manufacturing. o Ebonite production. o Dry mix preparation for decorating and painting. o Pesticide mix manufacturing. o Polikar manufacturing (a drug that is used as a preservative for vegetables and fruits during storage period).

• It is also used in paste which is employed in tooth's root canal procedure which reduces inflammation as well as acting as a disinfectant within the infected area.

However, since it contains acidic properties, calcium hydroxide overdose can lead to dangerous consequences such as breathing difficulties, internal bleeding, hypotension, skeletal muscle paralysis, and an increase in the blood's pH level, which can cause damage to the body's internal organs. <bio>This content is provided by Low Jeremy.
Do you take calcium and magnesium regularly? If you don't, perhaps its high time that you thought deeply about including these two minerals in your body. I can guarantee you that once you are through with this article and are made aware of the many benefits that they can give, including them among your regular vitamins will be a no-brainer.

For instance, do you know that calcium and magnesium are among the two most important minerals in our body. Not only do they contribute a great deal to proper nutrition, they improve our cardiovascular system and strengthen our bones and muscles. T

Even without a regular intake of calcium and magnesium, both minerals are flowing generously in our body, especially in our blood and in our bones. But we need more of them. The reason for this is that not having of these two essentials make us susceptible to a host of possible ailments. Recent studies have shown that you might as well add anxiety to that list.

However, despite their role in our overall good health, studies have shown that most Americans are simply not getting enough of calcium and magnesium, and certainly not at the right level. These studies indicate that Americans get only three-fourths of the Recommended Daily Allowance for calcium and only two-thirds of the required RDA for magnesium. The fact is that these two are usually the essential minerals that our bodies lack the most.

Lacking calcium and magnesium can make us feel anxiety and fear, sometimes for no apparent reason and certainly not because we expect or anticipate that something bad is going to happen. We just feel fearful because we lack calcium and magnesium.

In addition, a lack of calcium can lead to cancer and hypertension as well as to joint and periodontal disorders. On the other hand, a lack of magnesium can lead to bouts of depression and induce insomnia. These are both well-known by-products of anxiety.

Also, if you combine magnesium with calcium, which is also a powerful muscle relaxant, the combination creates an overall sense of calm and well-being. So stock up on your calcium and magnesium minerals now. <bio>Kadence Buchanan writes articles for http://yournutritionsource.net/ - In addition, Kadence also writes articles for http://cookingforfun.net/ and http://thenursingcenter.com/ </bio>

Three Roof Cleaning Methods: Stained by algae or not, roofs are cleaned using any of three common methods, each of which has its own set of pros and cons. These methods are, pressure washing, and the application of solutions containing either, chlorine bleach or sodium hydroxide. When performed correctly and only once, these techniques clean roofs effectively without significant adverse effects. The problem is, they usually have to be repeated every six to 18 months to maintain cleanliness.

Chlorine Solution Washes: Chlorine bleach solution application requires a lot less rinsing than the two other methods, thereby allowing a cleaning procedure of shorter duration. One good consequence of a quicker process is less wear and tear for the roof. However, chlorine can be toxic to some people and plants, so care should be exercised to protect employees or residents, as well as the property itself, from spray runoffs. Asphalt shingle roofs are particularly well adapted to this type of cleaning.

Sodium Hydroxide-based Cleaning: Sodium hydroxide-based cleaners are very effective degreasers, but they require a lot more rinsing than chlorine solutions. As a result, using this type of cleaning agent can be time-consuming and carries with it greater risk for causing damage to the roof. And, while only 100 psi of force is needed to rinse away a sodium hydroxide-based compound on an asphalt shingle roof, some amount of asphalt granule loss is to be expected still. Even if advertisements would have us believe otherwise, sodium hydroxide can be toxic too, and should be kept from coming into contact with persons and property, and especially plants in the surrounding landscape. It is also caustic, so high levels of this compound may cause irreversible damage to roofs, especially those made of asphalt shingles.

Pressure Washing: Pressure washing is an option only for roofs made either of concrete, metal or barrel tiles. One of the distinct advantages of this method is that it does not require the use of chemicals, which does away with some costs, and which makes it more environment-friendly. This procedure, however, requires more time to perform and may exert more strain than some roofs can handle. Another downside is that it can wash away the thin layer of coloring with which some roof tiles are coated. The natural gray color of the concrete roof begins to show through, requiring the additional task of painting or staining. <bio>http://www.pressurewashingking.com </bio>

Recent studies have found the importance of magnesium as a nutrient and its impact on general and heart health. Nutritional magnesium is deeply involved in the production of energy, the uptake of oxygen, the function of the central nervous system, the balance of electrolytes, the metabolism of glucose, and the activity of muscles, including the heart. When magnesium's importance in the heart muscle is closely examine, the microscope is necessary, as it gets right down to the cellular and molecular levels.

Magnesium has an essential role in many of the functions of energy production and is an integral part of the energy and protein molecules, without which the heart would not have the proper energy to contract and relax. Magnesium is also essential in the construction of the cell membrane, as the heart is composed of cells and the magnesium plays a role in the strength of the heart muscle itself.

When magnesium levels begin to get too low the body will try to adapt, but the basic functions of energy production and cell structure are affected. Without enough magnesium, the cell is unable to keep the proper number of high-energy molecules that is needed to function properly. It doesn't just end there though, as just about everything starts to go once magnesium falls below a certain level, and then cellular damage can result. Sodium balance and electrolyte balance also start to change, while the cell is unable to have a fully integrated membrane system due to magnesium deficiency, calcium and sodium start to rush into abnormal areas for the muscle cells which can cause cellular damage.

If a person is not getting adequate magnesium, they may go into a marginal state, which can be taken to a depleted state with a certain trauma or excessive physical, emotional, or mental stress. This depleted state can manifest as hypertension, high cholesterol, heart disease, and possibly even a heart attack. Magnesium requirements increase during times of stress which include exercise, mental and emotional issues, high noise, chemical toxins, and others. Requirements for magnesium also rise during healing from a bodily trauma such as an injury or operation.

A low magnesium condition can be worsened by a high intake of calcium, as calcium can not be optimally utilized without the proper balance of magnesium, and a high calcium intake without magnesium will cause further drainage of any magnesium reserves. Although calcium is necessary at the cellular level for muscles to contract, nerves to fire, and hormones to be produced and released, too much calcium and too little magnesium is a disaster. Another problem related to heart health is cholesterol, a fatty substance found in many areas of the body. Since cholesterol has gotten such a bad name, many people do not know that it is actually produced in all cells naturally and is important for proper bodily functions.

Finally, one of the reactions that are involved in cholesterol production is called rate-limiting reaction, as it keeps control of the amount of cholesterol manufactured. The rate-limiting reaction requires magnesium, which can cause cholesterol to continue to be manufactured beyond the cells control if magnesium is unavailable, resulting in cholesterol buildup. As you can see, magnesium is vital to the body and if not obtained from your diet, should be supplemented through a vitamin supplement from a health food store. For more information on magnesium and its healthful effects on the body, feel free to contact your local health food store.<bio>More information on magnesium for health and wellness is available at VitaNet ®, LLC Health Food Store. http://vitanetonline.com</bio>

There has been much research done and the results are undeniable: magnesium deficiency leads to high blood pressure. Because the modern U.S. diet lacks magnesium, most Americans are unknowingly deficient in this important mineral. As countless studies have shown, it helps to take magnesium supplements daily for the treatment of high blood pressure symptoms, and to help gradually lower blood pressure (BP) numbers. Magnesium can also be taken as a rejuvenating, hypertension-preventative measure.

Many studies have shown that as well as reducing high blood pressure symptoms, taking magnesium also reduces the risk of heart attack significantly. One study showed that giving magnesium soon after a heart attack reduced heart muscle damage and prevented hypertension and arrhythmia. Other studies indicated that chances of survival from acute coronary thrombosis improve many times over if magnesium is given in the first 24 hours after the event.

Besides providing support for the treatment of high blood pressure symptoms, intake of adequate magnesium prevents stroke. Hypertension is the primary risk factor of stroke - the third leading cause of death in the U.S. - and that makes magnesium a lifesaving natural treatment for high blood pressure.

Magnesium is used by the body in enzyme reactions and for maintaining cellular health, especially in the brain, nervous system, teeth and bones. It also helps fight infection. It regulates muscular function, including cardiac muscle. In Japan, a study indicates that magnesium may be involved in relaxing blood vessels, which lowers BP numbers and effectively treats high blood pressure symptoms.

Why is magnesium so important?

The risk factors associated with hypertension are:

- Aging

- Being overweight

- Too much salt

- Too much alcohol

- Not enough exercise

- Too little potassium and calcium

- Not enough magnesium.

Except for aging, these risk factors are all within the hypertensive patient's control. The only patients who shouldn't take magnesium for the treatment of high blood pressure are those with kidney disease or severe heart disease (unless under direct care of a physician).

4 Tips for taking magnesium as a natural treatment for high blood pressure symptoms.

1. Magnesium is found in leafy greens such as spinach, whole grains, nuts, seeds, dairy, legumes, peanut butter, and certain fruits; it is also found in supplements.

2. A low-salt diet that contains enough magnesium, potassium and calcium is advisable for the prevention and treatment of high blood pressure. However, a recent study in found that dietary magnesium may not enough to be consistently effective in reducing high blood pressure symptoms, and that supplementation was probably needed in most cases.

3. Often, prescription medications for high blood pressure symptoms are diuretic, which causes magnesium levels to drop as the mineral is lost through excess urination. If you take prescription diuretics, also take magnesium supplements for the treatment of high blood pressure.

4. Magnesium supplementation ensures a steady dosage of this mineral.

Magnesium also helps the body store potassium, another mineral needed to prevent hypertension. If the diet does not contain enough potassium, which is quite common, and especially if diuretics are taken, taking magnesium as high blood pressure treatment is even more important.

Magnesium has been prescribed as a high blood pressure treatment for decades. It is one of the few natural high blood pressure treatments that has been thoroughly studied. Therefore, doctors are quite familiar with its efficacy. If you suffer from high blood pressure symptoms then you need this mineral!
More and more people are being diagnosed with asthma today, most likely due to the contaminants in our environment, especially for those who live in large cities with a high amount of smog or other pollutants in the air.

Medications to relieve symptoms of asthma are few, and produce temporary relief. More and more doctors are suggesting combining vitamins(http://www.mitamins.com), minerals and herbs into nutritional supplements, with positive results. One of the most beneficial nutritional supplements in asthma treatment has been found to be magnesium.

Magnesium Nutritional Supplements for Asthma

Magnesium is an important mineral for our body but it is required only in very small amounts by the body in proportion to weight. The absorption of magnesium in the body depends on a number of factors such as dietary habits, stomach acid levels, and body needs. 40-50 percent of magnesium is usually absorbed from the foods we eat, but this percentage varies greatly in individuals from 25 to 75 percent. This means that nutritional supplements may be needed in cases where the diet is deficient in magnesium. If someone is deficient in magnesium, they are likely to be deficient in other vitamins too - making an all-in-one nutritional health supplement even more important.

Teeth and bones contain 65% of the body's magnesium with the remaining 35% of present in brain, heart, tissues, blood, and other body fluids. The ratio of calcium to magnesium in the body should be 2:1. It is Magnesium's presence in muscle tissues, particularly the lung tissues, that make this mineral an excellent nutritional supplement for asthma and overall lung health(http://www.mitamins.com).

Magnesium is an essential mineral that helps to promote nerve and muscle health in the human body. Recent studies have also shown that this trace mineral also offers great benefits as part of a vitamin nutritional supplement for those suffering from asthma. After tests, doctors have found that most people diagnosed with breathing difficulties have low levels of magnesium in their systems and require health supplements(http://www.mitamins.com). Magnesium helps to block spasms in bronchial passages as well as in the smooth muscle tissues in the trachea. It does this by enhancing the production of chemical mediators that relax bronchospasms.

In addition, magnesium health supplements reduce the histamine response in the body, a chemical that is released to control allergic reactions that results in inflammation. Those suffering from asthma also appear to have increased levels of histamine, which leads to such inflammation and hence, constriction of bronchial tubes.

To ensure that your body has enough magnesium to provide optimum benefits avoid caffeine and alcohol, which contribute to magnesium deficiency (and the deficiency of many other vitamins too). Also, if you exercise regularly and diet often, make sure you are taking nutritional supplements that will put that much needed magnesium back into your body. Magnesium can also be found in vitamin-rich food sources such as dark green vegetables, bananas, almonds and nuts.

Magnesium can be taken in capsule form or by injection but let your doctor decide which method is right for you. Your doctor will also tell you want additional vitamins or minerals your nutritional supplements should contain to enhance the absorption of magnesium and increase overall help. With the right combination of vitamins and minerals, plus a healthy lifestyle, you'll soon be able to breathe more easily. <bio>Author Bio: Mitamins team bd@mitamins.net Convenient: All Your Vitamins in 1 Bottle; Choice: 680 Health Concerns Covered; Safety: Avoid Overdose and Drug Interactions; Quality: Made Fresh with Brand Ingredients.
Finding an effective constipation remedy that will help relieve the pain can seem quite daunting for those who regularly suffer from constipation. Constipation is a condition where a person has difficulty moving their bowels and there are a number of ways in which it can be diagnosed such as a physical examination, colorectal transit study, anorectal function tests, barium enema x-ray, and sigmoidoscopy or through a colonoscopy.

However there are number of constipation remedies around which should hopefully help to improve the situation as well as remove the problem.

A good one to use is to train your bowel. If you can attempt to have a bowel movement at the same time each day (preferably first thing in the morning) as this is when your colon activity is at its highest and you can practice this quite easily.

Ensure that you improve your eating habits but including plenty of high fiber foods (cereals), and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. It is important that if you suffer from constipation you limit the amount of ice cream, cheese, meat and processed foods that you consume.

Drink plenty of water (about 1.5-2 litres each day) and avoid those drinks which can cause dehydration such as coffee and alcohol.

Also take up some form of regular exercise and not only will it help to alleviate the problems associated with constipation it will provide you with other health benefits as well.

However, if you find that are still not having regular bowel movements even if you have made the changes above then you wish to consider using a bulk forming laxative such Psyllium or Methylcellulose and they can be used for a long time without any side effects.

There are also other medications that can be used to remedy constipation such as Hyprosmotics, Lactulose, Polyethylene Glycol, Glycerin and Sorbital as well as salines like Magnesium Hydroxide, Magnesium Citrate and Sodium Phosphate.

However if you have found that neither of the above methods work for you then you may try such medications as Anthraquinones such as Cascara Sagrada, Emollients such as Docusates, Senna and Mineral Oil.

There are also stimulants such as Phenolphthalein, Castor Oil or Bisacodyl which may also help to remedy the problems associated with constipation but such medications as these need to be used under strict supervision of a doctor or healthcare worker and only as a short term measure as most of these have some side effects.

People who are using laxatives should discontinue use slowly and after some time the colon will be restored to its normal working balance.

Finally, you should only use enemas or suppositories as an emergency treatment and if all else fails then surgery may be your only alternative. <bio>Lee Dobbins writes for http://www.colon-articles.com where you can learn more about having a healthy colon and read about more constipation remedies. </bio>

For all the people suffering from bone loss, did you know that calcium requires magnesium in order to be utilized by the body? Magnesium by its self doesn't need calcium to function in the body. Calcium should never be taken without magnesium if you are supplementing just calcium you are actually reducing the amount of magnesium in the body which can be a bad thing. Few people realize the importance of the mineral magnesium. Magnesium influences many of the body's processes such as digestion, energy production, muscle function, bone formation, creation of new cells, activation of B vitamins, relaxation of muscles and helps in the function of the kidneys, heart, adrenal glands, the brain and nervous system.

Every day we loose magnesium due to mental stress, caffeine, sugar intake, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, high perspiration, low thyroid, diabetes, chronic pain (causes stress), diuretics, and diets high in carbohydrates, sodium, and calcium. The most common symptoms of magnesium depletion that millions of people suffer from every day are low energy, fatigue, PMS and Hormonal imbalances, inability to sleep (insomnia), body tension, headaches, muscle tension, muscle spasms and craps, backaches, calcification of organs, weakening bones, heart related difficulties, anxiousness, nervousness and irritability. Everybody needs magnesium.

What country has the highest rate of pasteurized milk consumption and what country has the highest Calcium supplement consumption? The United States! So if this is true, wouldn't you think the United States would have the lowest rate of osteoporosis caused by calcium loss making bones fragile? False! More calcium does not eliminate a calcium deficiency, only by adding magnesium to your diet will your body be able to handle a calcium deficiency and provide adequate magnesium for the body to dissolve excess calcium from the body like bone spurs while helping the body absorb more calcium all at the same time.

Magnesium is needed for major biochemical process such as digestion, energy production, and the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. According to Carolyn Dean, MD, ND, "calcium has been called the major mineral or the major nutrient mostly because there are a lot of books on osteoporosis (bone disease especially common in the elderly), and everybody thinks calcium is the major treatment for that. But if you don't have magnesium, calcium doesn't even work in the body."

Milk contains 8 parts calcium to 1 part magnesium per glass. In order for the body to absorb the calcium in milk the body has to make up for the missing magnesium, milk will rob the body of vital magnesium in order to process its calcium. Heavy milk drinking can cause a magnesium imbalance in the body and lead to the negative effects associated with a magnesium imbalance that was listed above. In America, calcium is now added to cereals, crackers, juice, antacids and much more. None of these products add extra magnesium to bring balance back. If you're eating dairy products and eating lots of organic yogurt, kefir, and green vegetables you're getting a plenty of absorbable calcium. Yogurt does not contain magnesium and if you cook your vegetables the magnesium found in the veggies will be destroyed, so what you need is just a basic magnesium supplement to help maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The statements in this article are not intended to diagnose, treat and cure or prevent disease please consult your health care physician before discontinuing medication or introducing herbs into your diet if you are currently on medication of any kind. <bio>Visit VitaNet® Health Foods at http://vitanetonline.com/..
A water softener is an appliance that is typically used in a residential environment to remove the hardness from the water being used for drinking, bathing, cooking, and washing clothes.

Hard water can cause visible scale to form on water-using appliances such as the dishwasher, washing machine, and iron. Homeowners with hard water and glasswork in their bathrooms are also faced with the prospect of almost daily cleaning. Hard water can also cause scale to form in some hidden places, such as the heating element of your hot water heater. Over time this can drastically reduce the efficiency of this device and cost homeowners money.

While prolonging the life and beauty of appliances is certainly one good reason to purchase a softener, many people with hard water choose a softener for aesthetic reasons. Soft water creates softer skin, shinier hair, and cleaner laundry.

So how does a softener make water soft? To answer this question one has to understand what water hardness is. Hard water is simply water that contains calcium and magnesium compounds. The more calcium and magnesium the water contains, the harder it is. Calcium and magnesium are mainly found in bedrock. When it rains, water percolates through the ground and dissolves some of this rock. This is how calcium and magnesium end up in our water in the first place. Water that comes from wells is typically much harder than water that comes from lakes or rivers. In order to make water soft, the calcium and magnesium containing compounds need to be taken out. This is accomplished by a water softener, sometimes called a water conditioner.

A water softener is usually comprised of two tanks. One tank, called the mineral tank, contains softening resin. The other tank, called the brine tank, contains rock salt mixed with water. As water enters the home through the water main, it is pushed through the mineral tank, containing the resin. Resin looks like very small plastic beads. The resin contained in the mineral tank has an attraction to calcium and magnesium containing compounds. As the water flows past the resin any calcium and magnesium compounds will stick to the resin and will be removed from the water. In this process, the resin releases a sodium ion to the water. Because this trade occurs =96 calcium or magnesium for sodium =96 softener resin is known as ion exchange resin. The removal of the calcium and magnesium makes the water soft.

This process occurs for a few days, the resin exchanging its sodium ions for calcium or magnesium compounds. Eventually each tiny bead of resin becomes completely bound with calcium and magnesium and cannot remove any more from the water. At this point the softener goes through its regeneration cycle. Since regenerating a softener interrupts the flow of water to the home, this cycle is usually set to happen in the middle of the night. Valves inside of the softener controller allow the saltwater liquid from the brine tank to flood the resin tank. The sodium in the brine pushes the calcium and magnesium off the resin. They are then flushed down the drain. Now, all of the resin has been reloaded with sodium and is again ready to trade its sodium for more calcium or magnesium.

Homeowners simply have to make sure that they monitor the salt level in the brine tank and add a bag of salt when it is getting low. The water softener should take care of the rest. <bio>C. Reid Thornley holds a B.Sc. Biology and is a former research associate for a world class water purification manufacturer.
Recently, there has been a movement among some parents of autistic children toward a therapy that involves the use of Vitamin B6 and Magnesium. However, before jumping on the bandwagon, it is a good idea to know what is involved in the treatment and understand the pros and cons of treating a child with substantial doses of vitamins and minerals.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) is considered to be an essential vitamin. The term essential means that it is one required by the human body in order to properly function, but that cannot be produced on its own by the body. Therefore, Vitamin B6 must be obtained through food, supplements, or other means. This specific vitamin is required in order for the body to perform over sixty different biological processes. When the body receives Vitamin B6, it converts it into pyroxidal-5-phosphate (PLP), which is an enzyme that is used in order to obtain the energy from within starches, and to break proteins down into more useable forms. PLP is also necessary for brain chemical production.

Magnesium (Mg) is an essential mineral. Again it is vital for the health of the body but is not something the body can produce on its own. It is crucial for the health of every one of the body's cells, as well as for brain and muscle cell function. Though it is rare for a magnesium deficiency to occur, a 2006 study published in the Biol Trace Elem Res Journal, called "Magnesium Profile in Autism", by M. Strambi (et al.) suggested that children with autism may actually suffer from too little magnesium in their bodies.

Because of the essential element of these two vitamins/minerals, some parents feel that supplementing a child's magnesium and vitamin B6 intake is a viable alternative autism therapy. If you are considering choosing a vitamin B6 and magnesium therapy for your own child, please consult your child's doctor or pediatrician to find out if it is a therapy that may work well with your child's unique needs, and to find the appropriate dose for your child's age, weight, and requirements.

It should be noted that this therapy is considered to be somewhat controversial. There have been two very small yet well controlled studies -- one by L. Tolbert (et al.) published in the Journal of Autism Dev. Disorders in 1993, "Brief Report: Lack of response in an autistic population to a low dose clinical trial of pyridoxine plus magnesium", and the study by R. L. Findling (et al.) from the same journal but in 1997, "High-dose pyridoxine and magnesium administration in children with autistic disorder: an absence of salutary effects in a double blind, placebo-controlled study" -- which showed absolutely no impact on autism with low and high doses of vitamin B6 and magnesium.

However, there was one more substantial, yet less effectively controlled study - J. Martineau (et al.) in 1985's Biological Psychiatry journal, "Vitamin B6, magnesium, and combined B6-Mg: therapeutic effects in childhood autism" -- which showed that when used in combination, vitamin B6 and magnesium have a significant behavioral impact, though neither of those substances alone appears to make a difference.

Before beginning this kind of therapy, you should know that high doses of vitamin B6 pose the risk of nerve problems. However, there have been no reported significant side effects regarding autistic children taking vitamin B6 and magnesium supplements. At over 600 mg per day, magnesium can be toxic, but when taken in moderate amounts (200 mg per day) no significant side effects have been reported.<bio>Grab your free copy of Rachel Evans' brand new Autism Newsletter - Overflowing with easy to implement methods to help you and your family find out about other autism therapies based on the use of vitamins, minerals and supplements.</bio>

Magnesium is one of the most important minerals for human health and is required throughout the body; but by far the largest quantities are found in the bones and muscles.

Almost all the body's enzymes are dependent to some degree on adequate supplies of magnesium, and these enzymes are essential for several hundred vital metabolic reactions; amongst the most important being the production of energy within cells through the metabolism of dietary proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Magnesium is also needed for the synthesis of protein, the activation of genes and the transmission of impulses between nerve cells.

In addition to the above general functions, magnesium is a vital element in the complex of nutrients required for the production of glutathione, one of the body's most important fat-soluble anti-oxidant enzymes. Glutathione protects those parts of the body's cells which are composed of fat, such as the membranes, by neutralizing any free radicals attacking these delicate structures.

Magnesium may therefore be regarded as an important anti-ageing nutrient in its own right, but it has also been the subject of extensive research into a number of more specific health functions.

Adequate levels appear to be particularly important in ensuring the proper take up of calcium by the bones, and low levels of blood magnesium have been shown to be linked with correspondingly low levels of calcium; and to have an inhibiting effect on the action of vitamin D, which is itself essential for the proper functioning of calcium. Logically enough, therefore, some research has suggested a link between supplements of magnesium and increases in bone density.

There is some research evidence to suggest that low levels of blood magnesium may be a risk factor for the development of high blood pressure, and also that magnesium supplements can be of benefit for reducing blood pressure in sufferers who have inadequate intakes of dietary magnesium, but orthodox medical opinion maintains that more work is necessary before this link can be definitively established.

Low levels of magnesium intake are also associated with a significantly increased risk of diabetes, but there have been conflicting results from research studies into the question of whether supplements of magnesium may be useful in managing the disease.

Likewise, the benefits of the use of high doses of intravenous magnesium in the immediate aftermath of heart attacks remain a matter of controversy, but there is good evidence that oral supplements of magnesium may reduce the risk of dangerous blood clots in individuals suffering from cardiovascular disease.

There is also a known association between low levels of blood magnesium and recurring migraine headaches, and there is some evidence that supplementation may reduce the frequency of attacks.

Supplementation has also been shown to help alleviate the symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome in more than 70% of women.

Unprocessed whole grains such as brown rice or cereals are the best food sources of magnesium. A serving of oats or bran, for example, may typically provide as much as 90 mg or more of magnesium per serving; a cup of brown rice a little less, and a serving of wheat cereal perhaps 60 mg or so. Dark green vegetables such as spinach may provide up to 80 mg; and beans and nuts are also a useful source, a single ounce of hazelnuts or peanuts, for example, supplying almost 50 mg of magnesium. Milk may also supply around 30 mg.

But despite these apparently widespread and rich sources, there is evidence that many people do not obtain sufficient dietary magnesium and that the diets of older people, in particular, are likely to be inadequate. The European Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for magnesium is 300 mg, but in the US higher levels of 420 mg for men and 320 mg for women have been prescribed. Given the importance of magnesium within the body, these findings are a cause for concern, and indicate that most adults should be considering supplementing with magnesium.

However, some caution needs to be exercised when taking extra magnesium in this way; because 350 mg per day has been established in the US as the upper safe limit for supplemental magnesium for adults. Below this level there should be no risk of the relatively minor, albeit unpleasant, gastric side effects, principally diarrhoea, which have sometimes been noted when higher dose supplements have been taken.

It's important to note, however, that more serious consequences of excess magnesium have been observed in those already suffering from kidney problems. Such individuals appear to have a higher sensitivity to concentrations of the mineral, and may suffer further deterioration in kidney function and possibly blood pressure problems as a result.

No such problems have been observed to arise from high levels of magnesium consumed in the diet, and it needs to be remembered that like all other nutrients, magnesium does not operate in isolation within the body and interacts closely with other vitamins and minerals.

Any supplementation should therefore be taken as part of a comprehensive multi-mineral. And for the maximum anti-oxidant effect through the production of glutathione, this should be taken alongside a good quality multi-vitamin preparation. <bio>Steve Smith is a freelance copywriter specializing in direct marketing and with a particular interest in health products. Muscle cells get their energy from a compound known as adenosine triphosphate, or ATP. In the presence of calcium the ATP forms adenosine diphosphate (ADP) plus phosphorus and contracts the muscle fiber. Magnesium acts on this to reform ATP and relax the muscle.

If there is a shortage of magnesium, the muscle, and hence your body, becomes increasingly stressed until magnesium is made available to release the stress by forming more ATP. That can be provided by the consumption high magnesium foods, such as bananas and spinach, or by means of a magnesium supplement. This is a technical explanation of how calcium and magnesium are necessary to make muscles work and relax. Muscle cramp occurs if there is insufficient magnesium to overcome the effect of calcium to contract the muscles, and will not be cured until magnesium is provided to the blood.

This is also true of the heart muscle, and magnesium is believed by many to be essential for proper operation of the pumping action of the heart. Drugs used to reduce blood pressure are what are known as calcium blockers, and they block this contraction effect that calcium has on the heart muscles. Magnesium has the same effect and is thought to be a natural treatment for some forms of high blood pressure. Sodium also interferes with the relaxing action of the magnesium.

Since the heart works by means of stimulation of the fibers of the heart muscles through the release of potassium by ATP to form ADP, and then the relaxation of these same heart muscle fibers by the action of magnesium to reform ATP, then it is obvious that without magnesium the heart muscle will spasm and never relax without a good supply of magnesium.

Good sources of magnesium are dark leafy vegetables, seeds and legumes such as peas and beans. Some nuts (cashews and almonds are good sources), whole grains and some fruits such as bananas and avocados.

Since the body naturally eliminates excess magnesium, an overdose is unlikely so supplementation can safely be taken without ill effects. However, it is not common for somebody to be affected by a magnesium deficiency. Tap water from `hard' water districts can be rich in magnesium, more so than soft water, but should be relied on to resolve cardiac problems caused by a lack of magnesium.

Deficiency is possible in alcoholics or people recovering from serious burns or surgery. Crohn's Disease and other disorders of the bowel can cause a magnesium deficiency, and magnesium can be lost in the urine through hyperglycemia caused by badly managed diabetes. Some cancer treatments can also cause a deficiency in magnesium, specifically ant-neoplastic medication. The same is true of diuretics and some antibiotics.

These deficiency sources may or may not give rise to problems with muscle function to the extent that they threaten life. Should they do, however, the deficiency must be made up as a matter of emergency since the inability of muscle fibers to relax can be fatal in the wrong circumstances. These circumstances are usually when the most important muscle in your body is affected: the heart.

The symptoms of magnesium deficiency are muscle cramps, twitches, tension, neck pains, headaches caused by muscle tension and stress. In fact anything that can be caused by an inability of a muscle to relax after firing. Another is tightness of the chest, and constipation is yet another, caused by a lack of relaxation of the peristaltic muscles that move the waste through the colon. Milk of magnesia is effective in treating constipation by introducing the magnesium necessary to allow relaxation of the bowel muscles, and hence the resumption of the peristaltic rippling motion of the intestines and colon. Other effects are menstrual cramps, urinary spasms and a particular sensitivity to loud noise due to tension of the muscles deep within the ear. Even an aversion to bright lights is not uncommon.

More severe deficiencies can affect the central nervous system, and cause anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia and hyperactivity. As the deficiency becomes more critical it can cause numbness, tingling and severe heart problems. It is believed that even though severe magnesium deficiency is very rare, the average person does not contain the optimum levels of magnesium within their body, which results in cardiac problems and inadequacies in the immune system.

Although magnesium tablets can be used as a supplement, this can cause diarrhea, and if a deficiency is suspected, a physician should be consulted for the recommended treatment. Patients with kidney disease should not be given magnesium supplements without medical advice, since kidneys that are not properly functioning cannot excrete excess magnesium properly.

There is also evidence that a lack of magnesium can contribute to hypertension, or high blood pressure, and foods high in magnesium seem to reduce the risk. However,, there are other components of these foods that might also be effective in controlling hypertension. Bananas and avocados also contain dietary fiber and potassium.

Although magnesium is an important cardiovascular mineral that allows the relaxation of muscle fibers, a deficiency is rare except in unusual circumstances, and supplementation can generally be taken without risk of an overdose except in the case of a patient with kidney problems. If a magnesium deficiency is suspected, medical advice should be taken before resorting to a supplement since the symptoms could be indicative of other conditions. <bio>More information on Magnesium and related minerals can be found at http://vitanetonline.com/ Stop in and browse a large selection of vitamins and minerals. </bio>

You may have some horrible experience about problems in your toilet. Some of you really have no idea about how to deal with these problems and how to fix them. It is the fact that most of people rather call for professional service to fix a very little problems, which you never know that even you can fix it by yourself. This article will suggest you about most common problems in toilet and how to fix them properly.

1. Smell

Problems about smell and odor are always with the toilet. You may have experience about bad smell that never disappear, even though you have already clean the toilet, no matter when and how often you clean it, that smell still there without any clue. I can tell you that the smell, which never disappear are generally comes from the waste water drain. Drain is a really good place to store many of bacteria that is the cause of smell. All kind of waste after using toilet will be accumulated in the drain such as stain of soap, fat after shower. The easiest way to fix this problem is to call for professional service to install anti smell equipment in the drain, then clean the toilet often as normal, the smell will disappear after just 1-2 weeks

2. Rust in lavatory.

If you have used a lavatory for a while, you will find that when you open the lavatory , sometimes there is a stain of rust on it. The cause of this problem is the valve that control to let the water come on/off from water tank has broken and it can not stop the water. So the water id leaking from the tank and make rust stain on the lavatory.

You can get rid of this stain by using a piece of small metal or sand paper to softly scrape the lavatory, and then clean it normally. Do not forget to replace the water control valve too. 3. Bath tub clog up

For some of you who ay have problem about bath tub clog up very often. This maybe due to your hair that fall in to the tub drain after washing you hair. It is possible to use sodium hydroxide to clean but you have to be very careful because sodium hydroxide will destroy the bath tub coating and surface

4. Leaks

Leaks may be the most common problem in bath room but they are also the most difficult to fix. When you find any cracks or leaks in the toilet, you have to fix it immediately and do not let it be until it worse because it will be larger and let insects com into your house and absorb humidity. You must immediately seal the cracks or leaks but be sure that you can only fix by yourself only small leaks, otherwise, I would recommend to call for professional service.

5. Ventilation

If you notice that there are a lot of water drop on the ceiling, you can assume that your toilet is having a problem about ventilation. The water drop will make the ceiling coat erode, so you should install a ventilator to help. <bio>http://www.toilet-seat-hardware.com/ http://www.unique-shower-curtains.com/ </bio>

Perhaps no other disease is as closely linked to nutrition as diabetes. Not only does nutrition play a role in its development, nutrition is also one of the disease's most powerful treatments.1 Because of this strong and critical connection to nutrition, researchers have carefully studied the use of nutritional supplements in the treatment of the disease. They found that many vitamins, such as vitamin C and the B vitamins, minerals such as chromium, as well as herbs like Gymnema sylvestre, can safely, effectively, and naturally lower blood sugars and help prevent diabetic complications. What is even more important, however, is that these vitamins, minerals, and herbs can be combined together in a scientifically validated diabetic formula to work synergistically.

People with type 1 diabetes must be treated with insulin in order to stay alive.

If uncontrolled for many years, diabetes mellitus can lead to more serious health problems:

1. Blood vessel damage within the eye (retinopathy). This can lead to blindness.

2. Kidney disease (nephropathy) or kidney failure.

3. Nerve damage (neuropathy) especially of the hands and feet, causing tingling, numbness and weakness.

4. Narrowing of the blood vessels due to fatty deposits (atherosclerosis). This increases the risk of heart attack, stroke and poor blood flow in the legs.

Uncontrolled gestational diabetes can result in a large baby and a difficult birth. It can also increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life.

Diabetes - Circulation problems

High blood sugar damages blood vessels. When high levels of sugar are continuously in the blood, the blood vessels become thicker and less flexible, causing poor circulation. Poor circulation can impair healing, especially on the feet and lower legs. High blood sugar also causes higher levels of fat in the bloodstream. The fat clogs and narrows the blood vessels. Partial blockages deprive the heart of some necessary nutrients. A complete blockage can result in a heart attack, heart pain (called angina), or stroke.

Magnesium

Although the relationship between magnesium and diabetes has been studied for decades, it is not yet fully understood. Studies suggest that a deficiency in magnesium may worsen the blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes. Scientists believe that a deficiency of magnesium interrupts insulin secretion in the pancreas and increases insulin resistance in the body's tissues. Evidence suggests that a deficiency of magnesium may contribute to certain diabetes complications. <bio>7% of the population has Diabetes!
Natural saltwater contains myriad different substances at varying concentrations =96 this is what saltwater mixes for home aquariums try to reproduce as closely as possible. There are differences between brands of saltwater mixes, but the concentrations of elements are generally quite similar.

The elements contained in saltwater are essential to the health of your fish. As an aquarium runs through its cycles, however, essential minerals and nutrients tend to become depleted and need to be refilled through a water change or special aquarium supplements.

Not everyone needs to add supplements to their aquarium =96 it really depends on the situation. If you keep up with water changes and maintenance, and only keep fish, supplementation may not be necessary. This is because with each water change essential elements are automatically replenished. Coral reef tanks require supplements to keep the amount of calcium at a high enough level.

If you determine that your saltwater aquarium needs supplementation, using a test kit is essential so that you know exactly what's missing and how much needs to be added to the water. Also, adding too much of a particular element can cause problems for your fish. A mistake is not easy to fix, either. You'd have to do a full water change to remedy the oversight, causing a lot of stress for your fish.

There is still a lot of debate about supplementation because routine water changes are normally enough to replenish supplies and keep the tank running well, especially for fish only aquariums or fish and live rock aquariums. However, most experts do agree that for coral reef tanks, supplementing with calcium is beneficial. To keep the water alkaline in reef aquariums, you may also want to supplement with magnesium and Kalkwasser.

Calcium supplements are beneficial for tanks with clams, corals, and algae, as it helps them grow. For hobbyists who require a high level of calcium in their aquariums akin to the amount found in natural saltwater, it can be difficult to maintain the right quantity without adding supplements. There are some products on the market that dose aquarium water with calcium, or you can purchase diluted calcium chloride to dose the water. The latter method is more expensive, but easier. To avoid lowering the alkalinity of the water with liquid calcium, you may have to use a carbonate or bicarbonate as a buffer.

To maintain proper alkalinity, which needs to be around 2.5 meq/L (the alkalinity of natural saltwater) you may have to add kalkwasser (lime water) to the aquarium. This is calcium hydroxide =96 it must be added through doses. The process can be set up to occur automatically according to the pH levels in the water, or you can do it manually when you carry out water top-offs. You can also drip it slowly, directly into the aquarium.

Kalkwasser gives your aquarium a double whammy, adding calcium and maintaining alkalinity, so it has many benefits.

In the end, the choice to supplement is all in your hands. If you're planning to put together a reef aquarium, supplementation is a necessity to keep corals and any other invertebrates living in your tank healthy. <bio>Salty Supply Provides quality Aquarium Supplies at http://www.saltysupply.com </bio>

A good diet is the key to good health. While in some cases diabetes is caused due to genetic factors or other triggers, more often than not it is diets rich in sugar that lead to blood sugar problems later in life. Every diet has the scope to be tweaked a little bit so that you can ward off the danger of diabetes. If you are overweight, have high blood pressure, low HDL, and eat a lot of processed foods, you fall in the high-risk category.

Everyone ought to slowly wean themselves off highly processed junk food and shift to leaner, more natural alternatives. You can also use the three natural cures for diabetes tips which are listed below:

Diabetes and magnesium

In a study done in England on 11,000 women in the high-risk category, it was shown that those with a high magnesium intake were 27 per cent less susceptible to diabetes. According to research, magnesium is known to lower blood pressure, relax the heart muscles, and controls homocysteine, which is a known trigger for heart disease and diabetes. Magnesium also catalyzes the enzyme system in the body to convert nutrients into energy. Magnesium also relaxes the muscles and reduces muscle spasms.

Dark green leafy vegetables, nuts, avocados and whole grain are excellent sources of magnesium.

Diabetes and Cinnamon

Research has shown that using cinnamon in your diet on a regular basis helps reduce blood glucose levels by 18-29%. In addition, it also reduces other diabetes risk factors like triglyceride (which shows a 30% decline) and LDL cholesterol (a 25% decrease).

Cinnamon contains an extract called Cinnulin PF. This extract works at the cellular level and increases the sensitivity of insulin cell receptors by three times. Poor response of insulin cell receptors is often a major problem in diabetics, which makes cinnamon an important diabetes inhibitor. TI is advisable to consume about 500mg of cinnamon extract, twice a day.

Glucotor 2-a Diabetics' Formulation

Glucotor 2 is a completely natural formula prepared with the specific needs of diabetics in mind. It contains prickly pear cactus, fenugreek, cinnulin PF, bitter melon and gymnema sylvestre, all of which are very beneficial in diabetes control. Glucotor 2 which follows its very successful predecessor Glucotol 1, has been rendered even more powerful by the addition of cinnulin PF cinnamon extracts. Glucotol 1 has a very illustrious history in battling high blood sugar, with a number of true life testimonies to its credit. Glucotor 2 only improves on it, as it adds Cinnulin PF and magnesium, both of which are effective in controlling diabetes. Both these components have been proved efficacious not just for blood sugar control, but also in preventing heart disease.

So, while you may have actually tweaked your eating habits to avoid fatty, high processed foods, you should surely also add a daily dose of Glucotor 2 to your diet plan to ensure even better protection against diabetes and cardiovascular problems. And ou need not fear any harmful side effects from Glucotor 2-it is a tried and tested natural remedy that is uses no artificial chemicals in its preparation.<bio>Controlling blood sugar is an art.
Although most people who have been diagnosed with ADHD are prescribed medications to help improve their condition, proper nutrition should still be considered as a crucial part to keeping the symptoms of the disorder at bay. Why should this be? Well, although Ritalin and other such stimulant drugs are able to remedy the symptoms felt by many people with ADHD, the relief that these medications provide is merely temporary and can cause some unwanted side effects. With the proper nutritional supplements, ADHD behaviors may be effectively managed either alongside medications or without them. How is this possible?

Well, it has something to do with the fact that people with ADHD are often born lacking a certain number of neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are found in the brain and control behavior, learning and mood. A neurotransmitter deficiency can radically alter a person's ability to learn and can cause erratic behavior.

There are people who say that nutrition is not a key factor in ADHD, however, people with neurotransmitter deficiencies can improve their behavior through ingesting certain amino acids, which are neurotransmitter building blocks.

Our bodies produce some of the amino acids we need; however others must come from external sources. Protein is a good source of amino acids, but as the body doesn't store amino acids it can be hard to ingest enough, especially if children are picky eaters. Alternatively, there are amino acid supplements that can be taken however ensure that the dosage is appropriate to age and weight.

Continue reading for further information on nutritional supplements and to sign up for our free recognizing and treating ADHD newsletter.

Different research studies concerning nutritional supplements show results which are modest but which are nevertheless, results. Here are some of the supplements available today:

1) DMAE- Dimethyaminoethanol is a naturally occurring compound commonly found in fish. Basically, this nutritional supplement claims to be able to boost alertness and vigilance =96 a common need of people with ADHD.

2) Magnesium =96 Researches consistently show that many people with ADHD have significantly lower levels of Magnesium than other people do. Although it hasn't really been proven how Magnesium works to ease the symptoms of ADHD, children given Magnesium supplementation usually became less hyperactive and were able to pay better attention at school

3) Amino Acids =96 as said before, amino acids are essential to the production of neurotransmitters. Although the body does produce many amino acids, there are certain types, which can only be consumed through food. Taking this type of nutritional supplement, ADHD behaviors can reduce as neurotransmitter deficiencies decrease. <bio>Sign up for Sue Perkins' free ADHD newsletter - Overflowing with easy to implement methods to help you discover more about Nutritional Supplements ADHD at http://www.recognizingadhd.com?source=is </bio>

Migraine is a neurological disease, and person suffering from this disease often gets the attack of severe unbearable headache. The headache often accompanied with other problems such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness and gastrointestinal disturbances. With the onset of such problems, one finds it difficult to combat the problem and carry on the daily activities smoothly.

Studies have revealed that the major root of migraine is deficiency of certain vitamins and minerals. Our body requires a right amount of vitamins and minerals, and consumption of vitamins Such as B2 (Riboflavin) and B6 (Pyridoxine) helps immensely in combating migraine. Vitamin B2 and vitamin B6 has proved effectiveness in providing relief from the killer headache of migraine and other related symptoms. If one incorporates the right amount of these two vitamins in his/her daily diet, the frequency of migraine attacks will automatically come down.

The chief sources of riboflavin vitamin are liver, kidney, muscle, egg, milk, green leafy vegetables wheat germ and yeast. The daily requirement of this vitamin is approximately 1.8 mg. In addition, the chief natural sources of pyridoxine (vitamin B6) are yeast, rice polishing, egg yolk and the germ of various grains and seeds. The daily requirement of this vitamin is approximately 2mg. One should keep in mind that the other B vitamins are not effective in combating the pain relief in case of migraine headache, so one should prefer B6 and B2 instead. However, if one chooses to take vitamin B complex, the other vitamins are at least effective in reducing the risk of migraine strokes.

B vitamins have been found as a good treatment for migraine since they have an effect on the nervous system and the brain function.

Vitamin C is very important for the bodies' health since it help to product antibodies and strengthens the connective tissues.

Vitamin C also helps to protect other vitamins and therefore is crucial when suffering from migraine and other diseases.

Calcium is very important for nerve conduction and muscles contraction, therefore can be very useful when suffering from migraine.

The important minerals that are effective in combating migraine are magnesium and calcium. The dark green leafy vegetables and seafood are best natural source for both magnesium and calcium. The other sources of magnesium are beans and whole grains, and for calcium, dairy products are ideal. It is advisable to incorporate dairy products and dark green leafy vegetables in the daily diet. However, a very important point of consideration is that simultaneous intake of calcium and magnesium is not advisable, as calcium inhibits the body from absorbing magnesium. Therefore, a person must make a proper diet chart and keep the time into consideration like, one in morning and the other at night.

Thereby, one can always view the diet chart and make the revision accordingly, giving priorities to the required constituents. However, one should always consult the doctor and get the clear picture related to the intake of above-mentioned vitamins. The right way and regularity in consumption will surely help a person in combating the unbearable pain of migraine headache.<bio>Jack L Bloom is the owner of Vitamin Bag.
Are there natural ways to reduce the gas you pass? Try preventive measures first. Learn how to move gas through your intestines more readily.

While there are several reasons you may find yourself to be gassy, there are many solutions for reducing belching, flatulence, abdominal bloating and pain. Excess gas commonly is associated with irritable bowel syndrome. Other serious gastrointestinal disorders usually produce other symptoms besides just being "gassy."

Doctors usually recommend a plan to help move gas through the intestines more readily, combined with preventive measures, such as eliminating certain foods from your diet and avoiding chewing gum. Although many products on store shelves promise to help, their success is not guaranteed and often depends on the individual. There are also prescription medicines and some alternative therapies.

Keeping a diary of the foods and beverages you consume can help you systematically eliminate one food or group of foods at a time to determine which may be most responsible for your symptoms. One of the first questions at the top of the list would be 'Could this be related to dairy products?'. If it is, the first step should be to eliminate these products from your diet for about seven days. If you feel better, then try to add dairy products back to your diet in smaller amounts to see if you can tolerate them.

There are some recommended home remedies and lifestyle changes. Chew more slowly and thoroughly because gas can be a sign of undigested food, the enzymes in saliva begin the first stage of breaking down food in the body's absorption process. Avoid foods you know cause indigestion. Common food sources of gas include Brussels sprouts, bran, beans, milk products, cabbage, artificial sweeteners, carbonated beverages and alcohol. Take a short walk after you eat to prevent gas accumulation.

Maintaining a regular exercise schedule in the form of walking, jogging and calisthenics will help stimulate the passage of gas through the digestive tract. Perform chest-to-knee stretches. Lying on your back, bring your right knee to your chest. Hold for 10 seconds and, then repeat with the other knee.

If those remedies don't provide relief, your doctor may recommend that you take an over-the-counter antacid, activated charcoal, or a lactase or bismuth product.

Antacids contain aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide (known as Milk of Magnesia), calcium carbonate, or other ingredients individually or in various combinations. Antacids help to control the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, a condition in which the stomach's juices (acid and digestive enzymes) flow backward, or reflux, into the esophagus.

Tablets of activated charcoal may provide relief from gas in the colon. Studies have shown that when taken before and after a meal, lower-intestinal gas is reduced.

However, activated charcoal can cause black stools and constipation. While these are harmless side effects, black stools can be confusing to a physician, because color changes in stool can be a sign of a serious illness. Evidence concerning the benefit of activated charcoal is contradictory. Its effect in alleviating symptoms of intestinal gas has been supported by some studies yet refuted by others. As a result, physicians may recommend that patients consider trying activated charcoal to see whether its use results in some symptom relief. The usual dose is two to four tablets taken just before eating and one hour after meals.

Gas is often a symptom of lactose intolerance, which makes digesting dairy products difficult. It occurs when the body has too little of the enzyme lactase in the small intestine to break down lactose, the main sugar in milk and milk-based products. Although lactose intolerance can happen at any age, it tends to affect most people as they grow older. Lactase comes in liquid or tablet form. Adding a few drops to milk before drinking or chewing lactase tablets just before eating helps people who have difficulty breaking down lactose.

Bismut has salts to relieve inflammatory conditions of the stomach and intestines and can sometimes relieve gas. It also reduces the odor of unpleasant smelling gas caused by hydrogen sulfide, a sulfur-containing compound. Like activated charcoal, bismuth may result in black stools. Take before or after meals, on either an empty or full stomach.

In summary, stomach and intestinal gas is normal. Excess gas can be distressing, but rarely is it caused by a serious medical disorder. If your symptoms cannot be easily controlled or you have additional problems such as abdominal pain, change in bowel habits, or rectal bleeding, you need to contact your doctor's office. <bio>While there are several reasons you may find yourself to be gassy, there are many solutions for reducing belching, flatulence, abdominal bloating and pain. Excess gas commonly is associated with irritable bowel syndrome. http://www.stomachgashelp.info </bio>
