According to the Center for Disease Control there are over 25000 cases of Lyme Disease reported every year.

Lyme disease is caused by bacteria transmitted by the deer tick (Ixodes scapularis). Generally speaking , the diagnosis of Lyme Disease is based upon clinical signs and history. Today Lyme disease is the most prevalent tick-borne illness in the United States.

Medical Professionals believe that Lyme disease may cause loss of muscle tone in the face (Bell's palsy), severe headaches, as well as shooting pains in the neck. Other symptoms include heart palpitations, severe dizziness and stiff joint pain, tingling hands and feet, concentration problems, and memory loss.

Lyme disease is more prevalent than most people think. The most obvious indicator of lyme disease is a slowly expanding red rash at the site of the tick bite. Lyme disease is associated with a variety of signs that may present at different stages of the infection. Lyme Disease is now thought to be the fastest growing infectious disease in the world. Typically, the first symptom of Lyme disease is a red rash.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has funded several studies on the treatment of Lyme disease. The treatment of early Lyme Disease has been examined in numerous well-documented studies. Treatment of early localized Lyme disease typically involves a course of the oral antibiotics doxycycline or amoxicillin administered for 3 to 4 weeks.

Hyperbaric oxygen is a treatment that is showing increasing potential in the treatment of Lyme disease. Medical Doctors believe that the best treatment for lyme disease is prevention. If you live in an area where ticks are plentiful it is recommended to dress with long sleeves to minimize the risk of being bitten. Your physician will determine the best treatment plan based on your individual situation.

Lyme causes autoimmunity in the brain and central nervous system, not just the joints. It can mimic Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and many other immune disorders. The guidelines also note that 95 percent of cases of Lyme disease are cured within 10 to 28 days of treatment with oral antibiotics. <bio>Sanoviv provides alternative and complementary health care, lyme disease treatment and more with advanced diagnostics and holistic procedures.
You may have been visiting your doctor for years complaining about a myriad of symptoms. People may think that you are a hypochondriac. Yet you knew something was wrong. And one day finally you are told a diagnosis that you have a disease called Lyme disease. How is it that the medical community was clueless? After all this is the 21'st century with advanced medicine and all the tests in the world. Why you wonder was your Lyme disease caught before.

The answers are myriad. First Lyme disease is frequently misdiagnosed. Physicians overlook cases of Lyme disease simply because they do not know the complex nature of the origin and development of Lyme Disease. Lyme Disease can cause over 100 different symptoms and the one commonly known symptom of Lyme Disease -- that is joint pain is only one of the many presentations of Lyme Disease.

Secondly the tests for Lyme Disease are frequently useless and frequently misleading. The bacteria which causes Lyme disease can only infrequently be grown in bacterial plates. There is no one test to medical test diagnose Lyme Disease. Hence your doctor has to be on the ball to catch your symptoms. And even then he may not put together your odd symptoms as Lyme Disease if you unlucky enough to have Lyme Disease symptoms that "are not in the book".

Not only is that Lyme Disease not caused by the one known bacteria. It is now estimated that 300 different strains of bacterial worldwide cause Lyme Disease. Further it is not only the deer tick that spreads Lyme Disease. Other ticks such as Lone Star Ticks, western black legged and wood ticks can spread Lyme Disease as well. And if that is not enough global warming is spreading the geographic range of some of these insects to previously unknown areas.

You are not alone in being left out in the cold. It turns out that Lyme Disease is much more common than previously estimated -- up to 10 to 15 times higher than the previous underrated estimates. As you well have figures out by now doctors often miss most cases if Lyme Disease. The reasons are not hard to figure out. Further because of the apparent low rates of this disease it is not considered of any major public health concern so that there is no mandatory reporting procedure as one might find with venereal diseases. You have been caught in a terrible vicious cycle. Low diagnosis rates since doctors do not know what to look for and tests are not accurate in any manner. Then because the true prevalence of the incidence of Lyme Disease is vastly underreported Lyme disease is seen as a minor disease that is well taken care of. Hence there is little need for education on how to catch the symptoms of Lyme Disease ..The circle goes on and on.

Amazingly even if you are one of the lucky few and have your Lyme Disease correctly diagnosed you may not be home free. You may be under treated with antibiotic therapy. The stated course of action is a 6 week schedule of antibiotic therapy. Yet it often takes months, years and perhaps for ever of antibiotic therapy to manage this lingering disease with its hardy bacterial threat.

It has been said that just because you are paranoid does not mean that people are not out to get you. You were not imagining that your Lyme Disease took a very long time to diagnose. And the reasons are real not imagined. <bio>Margaret S.
Lyme disease in puppies is a sickness that is newly recognized. This type of dog disease is transmitted by deer ticks.

Lyme disease in pets not only infects puppies but could also infect humans. The two seasons for the largest number of exposure to Lyme disease in pets is during spring through fall.

This dog disease appears mostly in the Midwestern and northwestern part of the US. Since 1975, several cases of Lyme disease in pets have been reported in more than 40 states.

White-footed mice and white-tailed deer are the hosts for the deer tick that is the direct cause for transmitting Lyme disease in pets. Since the ticks do not fly or hop, they wait on the ground where plants grow in tall-grassed or wooded areas that are heavily inhabited by mice, deer, and ticks. They wait patiently and eagerly to stick on to anything that brushes up against them.

Deer ticks can strike a dog on any part of the body, although they often attach and bite at his head, ears, neck and even his feet.

This is where Lyme disease in a dog begins. A tick's bite barely causes sensation, unlike the painful bites from bees and mosquitoes. Dogs and other animals can be saturated with ticks and not show any distress.

Symptoms of Lyme disease in pets include fever, slowness, and sudden onset of lameness mixed with warmth, pain, and swelling in his joints. Sometimes a round area of inflamed skin around the tick bite may emerge with Lyme disease in pets, even though it may be hard to notice this due to the thickness of a dog's coat.

Call your vet right away when you notice any symptoms of Lyme disease in dogs. Those who recognize the early stages of Lyme disease can prevent your dog from suffering. When Lyme disease in your dog reaches its progressive stages of infection, your dog could suffer from paralysis. If this disease is left untreated, Lyme disease can attack the front and hind limbs. It will then attack the muscles in the chest area and even disable the respiratory muscles. This can cause the dog to suffocate.

If you believe your dog has Lyme disease and that the disease is in its progressive stages of infection, immediately call your vet. Hospitalization is necessary for progressive stages of Lyme disease in a dog.

To learn more, head to Amazon.com and search for books on, "lyme disease and dogs" to see which are the most popular choices.
Although once thought to be a form of arthritis that attacks children, lyme disease is actually a condition in which a bacterial infection has gotten into your blood stream. Unlike other types of conditions that have similar symptoms, lyme disease is transmitted to you by a dear tick. It was first discovered in 1975 when a group of children that was unreasonably large seemed to be suffering from arthritis. That led doctors to do a bit of unearthing and found that it was actually a bacterial infection that had caused the outbreak.

The bad news is that lyme disease is no longer found in just that one town of Lyme, Connecticut. Today, it is found in nearly every state in the United States with a concentration in New York, Minnesota, New Jersey and in Wisconsin. The disease has spread world wide as well as spreading into other types of animals. Not only can you get it from deer, but also from skunks, foxes, mice, moles, squirrels and horses (to name a few.) These conditions are most commonly found in animals that are in wooded areas or in grassy fields.

What Are The Symptoms?

Anyone that is exposed to these conditions can actually be put in dangers way of getting lyme disease. It is essential, then, that you understand the symptoms that it brings out. The tell tale sign of lyme disease is that of a rash, but not just any rash. This rash usually starts out with a small red spot where the tick has bitten. It then grows and expands significantly over the next days or even weeks. Usually, it will form a circle or a triangular shape on your skin. Sometimes, there is a red ring that is surrounding an area that is clear at the very center of the bite mark. This is called an erythma migrans and it affects at least 70 percent of those that will end up with lyme disease.

Other symptoms are also evident. If you are not treated by a doctor for your condition, you can develop conditions in which you have flare ups of arthritis like conditions. Your joints can become swollen and painful. Sometimes this will last for days, other times for months at at ime. It doesnandamp;#8217;t have to be the same joint affected each time either. About 15 percent of patients that have lyme disease end up with this symptom. Yet another symptom is that of an attack of the nervous system. Here, you can experience other illnesses like meningitis or even temporary paralysis of facila muscles. Limbs and the circulatory system can become weakened or lessened in their abilities.

What is common is the fact that individuals will experience some pain that seems to be that of arthritis. Although lyme disease has been mistaken in the past for arthritis, donandamp;#8217;t make this mistake. The symptoms and conditions of this condition can worsen, severely and can leave you with a lot of pain and eventually the breakdown of joints. <bio>Greg Marsh is an acclaimed writer on medical matters, and has written extensively on the subjects of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Rheumatology and Rheumatism.
Lyme disease is primarily spread to both dogs and humans through the bite of an infected tick. Many different species of ticks can be involved, including the deer tick, the western black-legged tick, and the black legged tick. Ticks are tiny parasites that are difficult to see with the naked eye and can easily hide on people and pets.

Ticks, however, are not the only way the disease can be spread, fleas and other biting insects are capable of spreading it as well. There have been incidents in which Lyme disease has been transmitted by direct contact with infected body fluids. This ease of transmission has made Lyme disease one of the most commonly reported tick-borne diseases.

The symptoms of Lyme disease in dogs include lethargy, loss of appetite, high fever, swollen lymph nodes and joint, and/or a sudden onset of lameness. Veterinarians have the ability to test for this disease in house and should be consulted immediately if any of the symptoms develop. Rapid treatment of a diagnosed case of Lyme disease is essential to prevent permanent damage to the joints on internal organs.

To lessen your dogs chances of contracting lyme disease, you should vaccinate him. After the initial immunization, a booster is recommended three weeks later, followed thereafter by annual re-vaccinations. The symptoms of Lyme disease in humans are similar to those found in dogs, and vaccination of the family dog will help to prevent the spread to humans.

A tick must feed on the host for approximately 24 hours before spread of the disease takes place. When you return from an outing, carefully check your dog's skin and coat, including the groin, around the ears and tail and between the toes. If a tick is found, remove it immediately with an alcohol swab and tweezers. After applying the alcohol to the tick, carefully pull the tick upwards. Try not to squeeze the tick while removing it as this may force bacteria from the tick, back into the animal.

If possible, save the tick in a jar or sealed container. If the dog becomes sick or exhibits any of the symptoms described earlier, your veterinarian can identify the type of tick to aid in the choice of antibiotics to use. When it comes to ticks, do not take any chances. <bio>Randy Jones and his partner Brent Jones have been in the pet industry for a long time.
Lyme Disease is the silent epidemic of the 21st century. Like AIDS in the early 80's when our understanding of HIV was in it's infancy, Lyme Disease is missed, ignored, feared and lacks a coherent protocol by the CDC. Today, most physicians accept that Lyme Disease is caused by a deer tick and is prevalent in specific geographical areas of the country. If a person doesn't fit the specific criteria of the typical bulls-eye rash or live in the accepted areas of infection it's not always considered as the potential cause behind many chronic illness and symptoms. If a physician does test for Lyme Disease the possibilities of being told you don't have Lyme are very high unless the non CDC protocol for test analysis is followed. The Western Blot test has the highest accuracy for determining if Lyme related pathogens are active. In all fairness to the medical community and the CDC, Lyme Disease is very difficult to detect. The responsible spirochete bacteria are so small they are not easily found with standard testing.

Quantum Biofeedback is a technologically advanced human interface computer program and device developed out of traditional biofeedback that has had success in assessing for Lyme Disease. It can deliver highly focused, specific therapy to reduce multiple kinds of stress, such as pathogens like the Lyme Disease spirochete. It can detect the pathogen utilizing frequency therapies that have the frequency "codes" of the various Lyme Disease pathogens. A trained Biofeedback Specialist can then analyze the feedback data to help determine if the resonance with a particular issue or pathogen like the Lyme Disease related spirochetes are resonating for an individual. Besides providing specific stress reduction related to the Lyme Disease symptoms, it can also assist a person in determining if it would be prudent to have a Lyme test done. While the analysis is not considered a diagnosis, the resonance patterns can provide a person with enough information to pursue a diagnosis with a physician.

The Quantum Biofeedback uses a highly sophisticated device called the EPFX/SCIO to read the body's physiological reaction at the subconscious level to the frequencies of over 10000 different items. The client is "linked" to the EPFX/SCIO by way of a safe, comfortable headband and a chair pad that rests where the client is seated for the duration of the session. Because the EPFX/SCIO is communicating with the subconscious mind, the effect of the therapy can be very deep and incredibly powerful in assisting a person to cope better with daily stressors as well as the specific issues and stresses related to any type of chronic illness like Lyme Disease.

If you have Lyme Disease, regardless of the level of the disease you may have, you will need medical attention and anti-biotic therapy. However, natural therapies and related alternative medicine today offer more solutions to assist in reducing not only the long term effects of such an insidious infection but in paving the way to long term recovery. <bio>Looking for http://www.lovehealingcenter.com/services Alternative therapy? How can Lyme disease be prevented / Can Lyme Disease be treated to go away or while I have it forever?

Lyme disease is a bacterial disease spread by insects called "Ticks ".

Ticks are small insects of the same family as spiders and are actually quite small.

The female tick seeks a blood meal to feed and nurture its brood of eggs similar in the manner that a female mosquito acquires a blood meal.

Imagine if you will the female tick wavers on a blade of grass until the moment that a mammal walks by. The combination of heat, moisture and carbon dioxide has to be just right.

And then the female tick latches onto the warm blooded mammal host just as brushes that blade of grass to affix herself in order for that special meal of blood.

Rather amazing and extraordinary isn't it.

But that is not all the little tick may leave you with before it crawls away with its load of your blood.

You may be left with a serious illness called Lyme disease which is caused by an infection which is caused by bacteria which were spread to you by the bite of deer ticks in the northeastern and north-central United States and by the black-legged tick on the Pacific Coast of the United States and Canada.

Worse. Some symptoms of signs of Lyme disease may not appear until weeks, months or even years after the tick bite.

You could get these delayed symptoms years later of intermittent joint pain and arthritis, severe headaches and even heart disease.

Lyme Disease is not a myth.

Last year the incidence of Lyme Disease was estimated at about 100,000 cases in the Unites States alone.

Luckily Lyme Disease can be treated in 2006/2007 by a course of antibiotics.

Prevention of Lyme Disease is the key strategy.

First of all avoid tick infested areas especially in the spring time and early summer of July.

Wear light colored clothing so that ticks can be spotted more easily. Tuck your pant legs into socks and shirt into pants so that the disease spreading ticks cannot crawl under your clothing.

Spray yourself and your clothes with insect repellent such as you use to prevent mosquito bites. Usually these compounds, such as the most well known commercial product "Off" contain "DEET". The higher the amount of "DEET" in the product the stronger it will be.

Wear a hat and a long sleeved shirt for added protection.

Walk in the center of trails to avoid overhanging grass and brush.

Lastly after being outdoors, remove clothing and wash and dry it at high temperature. Inspect the body of yourself and your children and pets. Carefully remove any attached ticks with tweezers, grasping the tick as close to the skin surface as possible pulling straight back with a steady force. Remember as well to avoid crushing the tick's body.

If the tick is a stubborn female you may have to coax her to relax her grip. This can be done with the use of a bit of alcohol or a hot knife or head of a match.

Just remember if you are using a hot match to the tick body as a last attempt to allow any previous alcohol to evaporate before trying as the alcohol will ignite which may burn you or your family member.

Of course if you feel that you may have been bitten by a disease spreading Tick best to seek medical help.

Your doctor can prescribe antibiotics.

Remember that Lyme Disease is a serious malady. Morgellons Disease is often associated with Lyme Disease.

An ounce of prevention is worth 100 lbs (or Kilograms) of cure. <bio>Margaret Mathews Health Care Practitioner Morgellons Research Foundation Com http://www.morgellonsresearchfoundation.com </bio>

Lyme disease (Lyme borreliosis) is caused by the bacteria Borrelia Burgdorferi. Ticks can transmit the bacteria by biting humans. Deer ticks spread Lyme disease in the northeastern and upper Midwestern United States, while western-blacklegged ticks are responsible for its spread along the Pacific coast.

A deer tick is any of several ticks of the genus Exudes that are parasitic on deer and other animals and transmit the infectious agents of febrile diseases, such as Lyme disease.

Lyme disease and its symptoms can occur at any age. It is most common among young children and those who work or reside in wooded areas because they are more likely to be exposed to the ticks. Expanding skin rash and flu-like symptoms are the earliest symptoms seen. A circular rash may develop at the bite's site but many individuals do not get the rash. If Lyme disease goes undetected or is not properly treated, problems involving the skin, joints, nervous system, and heart may arise. Symptoms may appear weeks after exposure to infection or it mat take months or even years. Other symptoms may include; fatigue, headache and neck stiffness. There may be fever and chills. Swollen lymph nodes and muscle and joint pain are common. As many as 25% of patients have only flu-like symptoms and no other symptoms. Skin rashes may later appear in other areas. Pain, weakness, or numbness in the arms or legs could appear quickly. Paralysis of the facial nerves is not uncommon. Other neurological symptoms may include poor memory and difficulty in concentrating. Heart problems may include palpitations and eye problems usually include conjunctivitis or even deep tissue damage. Joint problems are common in all stages of the disease. If treatment is not started early enough late persistent Lyme disease symptoms may include; chronic fatigue, joint problems, heart symptoms and nervous system problems such as weakness or numbness in the arms or legs and difficulties with memory.

Lyme disease may be diagnosed based on the symptoms, the medical history, and the possibility of exposure to ticks. Blood tests may confirm the diagnosis if the disease is suspected, however, blood tests are often not reliable to diagnose this condition. Rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis produce similar symptoms and must be considered.

Conventional medical treatment of Lyme disease should be prompt to prevent permanent damage. Antibiotic treatment for 3-4 weeks with doxycycline or amoxicillin is generally effective in early disease. Intravenous ceftriaxone or penicillin for 4 weeks or more may be needed in cases that were not treated early in the course of the disease. Treatment failures are not uncommon and re-treatment may be necessary.

Complementary medical approaches are used at this center to combat Lyme disease. Auricular Medicine (advanced ear acupuncture) is used to help evaluate the energetic status of the various body organs. Auricular Medicine can also be used in treating the organs affected and to support other vital organs that may be involved in the disease process. Homeopathic remedies may offer an invaluable complementary approach to help the body fight the involved bacteria and its symptoms.<bio>Nader Soliman M.D. is Board Certified in Medical Acupuncture with a degree from UCLA. You can find out more about Dr. Soliman and the alternative medical therapies he provides by visiting his site at http://alternativemedicinecenter.org. Visit one of our centers for complete evaluation using Auricular Medicine and homeopathic approaches.</bio>

There are many forms of treatment now available for anyone suffering from Lyme Disease, in particular chronic or late stage Lyme Disease. Once you can get a diagnosis, traditional medicine does have viable therapies, mostly anti-biotics that can be effective in treating Lyme Disease and many co-infections related to Lyme such as Babesia and Erhlicia. Alternative medicine offers everything from herbs, hydrogen peroxide IV therapy, high dose Vitamin C IV therapy, sauna, ozone, and a host of others. All of these work in varying degree depending on the person and the level of infection. Lyme is extremely complex in it's form and in treatment options.

Energy Medicine, the new kid on the block, has been a viable option for quite some time. However, awareness of this modality has been obscured for a variety of political reasons similar to Lyme Disease itself. The importance of it's efficacy in treating Lyme related pathogens is proven. It has many names, Rife being the most well known. There are a variety of Rife like devices that are now available on the market and can be used by individuals with Lyme Disease. The risk is minimal, but learning to use it properly is key in minimizing any "Herx" or "Die Off" effect of the pathogens. The EPFX/SCIO Quantum Biofeedback device also contains a Rife like generator. The cost of a basic Rife like device is considerably less, generally around $1800 to $2000 and the EPFX/SCIO is $18,500 and requires a great deal of training to use it. However, utilizing the Rife for some may prove too difficult to manage if they are seriously ill. And having sessions with a qualified Quantum Biofeedback Specialist using the EPFX/SCIO may work for some Lyme sufferers better, at least initially.

The EPFX/SCIO also helps balance the overall body systems utilizing frequency therapy. It can also help with symptom reduction and reduce the "Die Off" or "Herx" effect after using the Rife modality. It may prove useful as well, for those using a Rife device on their own to have occasional sessions to assist in maintaining awareness of their condition and level of infection. The EPFX/SCIO device provides monitoring and analysis from an energetic perspective of a person's overall health including the body's response level to pathogens and immune strength. This monitoring does not take the place of proper medical treatment, blood testing, etc., but it is an additional tool to help individual empowerment and overall stress reduction relating to the varied symptoms of Lyme Disease.

The EPFX/SCIO is a comprehensive three dimensional unit in it's approach to Lyme and can even monitor the energetic resonance of the specific Lyme pathogens for the individual. The Rife like devices do not offer this monitoring ability but both of these brilliant energetic devices offer a viable tool in the arsenal of medical weapons needed to fight the voracious Lyme pathogens. Most Lyme sufferers will need a multi-modality approach to overcome this complex illness. Energetic frequency therapy like the Rife device and others similar to it have afforded many Lyme sufferers the ability to wean off antibiotics and provide a viable solution to long term maintenance and in some cases complete recovery from Lyme related infections. The EPFX/SCIO device offers the same, but with a more comprehensive approach. Cost being a factor, Rife like devices are more affordable for the average person, but finding a competent Quantum Biofeedback Specialist could be, for some, the difference in quality of life and a shorter duration of the disease.

Either way, energetic medicine is a significant piece of the puzzle for Lyme patients. Information on Biofeedback Specialists can be found at http://biofeedbackdirectory.com. The national board that certifies Biofeedback Specialists both in traditional and Quantum Biofeedback offers this website to locate practitioners in your area. Information on Rife like devices can be found at www.lymebook.com. This site offers information, books and materials on the subject and is an excellent source of education on the Rife type devices as well as other Lyme related topics. <bio>For more information on http://www.lovehealingcenter.com/services Energy Medicine and http://www.lovehealingcenter.com Alternative Medicine please visit the love healing center or visit us online through these links. </bio>

Envision a nightmare of horror, conspiracy, medical mystery, human suffering and yet being called crazy by your doctor or others. Imagine you might have Morgellons Disease.

People who suffer from Morgellons Disease will tell you it is as if "am insect is crawling under their skin". They may have a number of symptoms but in most cases it boils down to unexplained skin rashes and eczemas and the appearance of fibers and granules coming out of their skin. Some have said that they have seen insects or some type of parasite emerging to fly away from under their skin. Often sufferers have had bouts of Lyme disease as well. Lyme disease is the most common tick borne disease in the United States whose incidence and reported incidence is rising alarmingly. Like Morgellons Disease Lyme disease was a poorly known or diagnosed disease. Suffers were often labeled by their doctors as suffering and imaginary diseases -- they were at the least hypochondriacs and perhaps psychotic. Like Morgellons disease Lyme disease affects suffers with a myriad of symptoms -- many of them similar to Morgellons including rashes, eczemas and neurological conditions. Unlike Morgellons disease Lyme disease is now recognized as a valid disease that can be identified through medical diagnostic skills and lab tests. It is now known and appreciated that early treatment of Lyme disease with antibiotics can result in an excellent treatment and prevention of many of the symptoms and complications resulting from untreated Lyme disease and that delayed or inadequate treatment may result in a condition for the poor patient which is disabling and may very difficult to treat. The same approach and understanding can not be said for Morgellons Disease sufferers.

The actual pathogen that is causing Morgellons disease is at the present unknown. It may be an old infection that has been around for eons. It may be a new type of infection that has come into play through evolution, international travel, the destruction of the Amazon and African rain forests or even outer space. It may be a new type of infection - a parasite, a worm, bacteria, a virus, a preon or something not even known yet. Nobody knows. Perhaps it is even transmitted in a latent fashion similar to mad cow disease.

The symptoms of patients presenting with Morgellons are varied and unfortunately for the suffered may match several other medical conditions most of which are widely known and that medical students and physicians are taught to quickly recognize and treat.

A well known axiom of medical training is "to always go for the most common disease "when diagnosing and treating.". Unfortunately the sufferer of Morgellons may be incorrectly diagnosed for years and years as time goes on and the disease progresses. They may be told that they have "scabies which is also a mite or small insect manifestation. They may be told that they have nothing more than standard run of the mill lice which is also an infestation of parasitic insects. They may be told that they have "Impetigo" which is a skin rash caused by bacteria The eczema may be diagnosed as simple run of the mill eczema which "happens all the time" and may be the result of simple allergies at different times of the year or as a result of changes of detergents to wash their clothes or foods that they have eaten.. They may even be told that their skin rash is a result of "bad nerves" and be given tranquillizers to quell their anxieties. Perhaps they are told that they have " Neurodermatitis " and that as a result of their allergies or nerves they have made their lesion worse by constant scratching of the sores. If they live in a hotter humid climate such as Florida they may be told that that they have a very hardy resistant fungal infection of their skin, nail or nail beds called Tinea. Their skin infection may have been explained by common terms that really are descriptive of the condition without identifying any real cause or treatment. These descriptive disease names commonly described include "Folliculitis : which is an infection of the hair follicles or roots , "Cellulitis" or skin infection or "Seborrhea : which is a condition of skin rash due to overactive sebaceous glands such as is seen in teenagers with acne.

At the worst the Morgellons disease sufferer will be blamed themselves for their condition either for compulsive skin picking , drug side effects , drug addiction or at the very end of the scale as having " Delusional parasistosis " that is tactile hallucinations of insects , snakes or other vermin crawling over their skin. Lots of luck.

Patients who claim to have the disease describe the polysymptomatic syndrome as primarily characterized by skin lesions and the appearance of fibers and granules coming out of the skin.

And yet whether real or delusional the symptoms reported by those they have Morgellons seem real enough and even horrific to those who are convinced that they are suffering . It is as if there is a sensation of bugs or worms crawling and biting under their skin . Often these people claim that they see the organisms actually crawling out and emerging from their skin along with odd fibers or filaments . What a nightmare of human suffering . <bio>Bonnie T.
When owning a dog, you need to be sure to keep up to date with the vaccinations for your furry friend.

Vaccinations are important to help keep your pet in the best of heath. The vaccinations for puppies and full grown dogs are a bit different but very important none the less.

Puppies that are at least 6 to 8 weeks of age need to get to DHLPPC vaccinations. These vaccinations are done over a period of time, usually over a three to four week period until they're 16 weeks of age.

Once the puppy is 16 weeks of age, rabies vaccinations and immunizations are then recommended annually. When the shots are done in a series this is also called booster shots.

Puppies need a booster shots to help build their immunity. When puppies are firstborn they get their immunity from their mothers when they nurse. Once they stop nursing the immunity declines and that is where the booster shots come in handy.

The senior dogs are not as susceptible to getting distemper or parvo so your vet may recommend that they get this vaccination every other year. It is still good to take your dog in yearly for a checkup.

You need to be sure to get your dog checked regularly to make sure they're showing no signs of kidney disease or cancer. The earlier you catch things such as these, the better off your dog's chance of survival is.

The combo vaccination called the DHLPPC, covers a number of diseases in one shot.

The D stands for distemper, the H stands for hepatitis or adenovirus-2, L. stands were leptospirosis, the P stands for parainfluenza, the other P stands for parvovirus and the C stands for corona virus. This is a great vaccination to get for your dog is it covers the many illnesses in one injection.

Another type of vaccination that you may get for your dog is Bordetella. It is also known as kennel cough, which is a respiratory infection in dogs.

While it's not a fatal infection it can be hard to get rid of. It can spread fast through boarding and grooming places such as animal shelters or even a vet's office. They can do this vaccination in one of two ways. The first being nasal spray and a second and injection.

If you do the injection then you need to get a booster at one month after the date of the first one.

Unfortunately dogs have to deal with tick problems. Ticks can cause Lyme disease it if you live in an area where there is a lot of woods around then you need to be cautious of the tick problems.

The Lyme vaccine would be a vaccine that you want to get for your dog to protect him or her from Lyme disease.

There is a parasite that lives in the intestines and can be passed from the fecal matter from infected animals. That parasite is called Giardia. Dogs can become infected with this parasite by drinking contaminated water.

Many people don't realize that they can also be infected. The vaccination for Giardia is a good one for dogs that are outdoors a lot. <bio>http://Alojate.com is the premier web hosting company in Mexico, offering a range or services for all business needs. http://www.expomascotas.com.mx http://www.alojate.com http://www.funnyvideos.com.mx </bio>

Zoonotic diseases are the diseases which are transmissible in nature between humans and other animals. There are about 150 zoonotic diseases. People working with wildlife should be aware about the potential for disease transmission from animals. They must use sound preventive measures. Disease is more easily prevented than treated. Most zoonotic diseases are very common in nature, rare in humans and also come with mild symptoms.

Rabies:

Rabies is almost invariably fatal. The disease is maintained in nature by bats and carnivorous mammals. The species of wild animal most likely to carry rabies tends to be specific within a region. The signs of rabies are variable so don't attempt to guess or play the odds with an animal that is behaving in an unusual manner. Neurological signs may indicate rabies and should be treated as such. If human exposure to a potentially rabid animal occurs, consult your physician immediately.

Infectious agents

Histoplasma capsulatum:

It is transmitted through inhalation of infective spores. The organism thrives in the soil that has been enriched by the presence of decaying bird or bat droppings. The organism grows in the upper 1-2 inches of the soil. On first contact, the person will become infected. The majority of people who become infected develop only mild respiratory infections and, once they are recovered, they become resistant. More severe infections are encountered in contaminated environments.

Aspirgillus fumigatus:

The fungus is found all over in our environment. While under stress in a captive facility, rehab animals are more likely to develop the fungal disease. They in turn shed the spores of the fungus and the workers may inhale them. In birds, respiratory signs are visible. Most healthy people have no trouble resisting infection. However, this is not true for anyone who has been debilitated by illness, other diseases, or has been on long term antibiotic.

Lyme disease:

Lyme disease is, in general, treatable disease. Lyme disease most often acquired from the bite of an infected tick. Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto is the predominant cause of Lyme disease in the U.S. The disease varies widely in its presentation, which may include a rash and flu-like symptoms in its initial stage, followed by the possibility of musculoskeletal, arthritic, neurologic, psychiatric and cardiac manifestations. A small percentage of patients with Lyme disease have symptoms that last months after treatment with antibiotics. These symptoms include muscle and joint pains, arthritis, cognitive defects, neurological complaints or fatigue.

Baylisascaris

Baylisascaris is a common intestinal roundworm parasite of raccoons. In the raccoon it does little damage, however, in including humans it is an important cause of fatal nervous system disease, eye disease, and damage to other vital organs. When an infected raccoon defecates, the surrounding area becomes contaminated with Baylisascaris eggs. While worming can rid the intestine of adult Baylisascaris, there is no treatment that has been shown to alleviate illness caused by migrating larvae.

Blastomycosis

Blastomycosis is a fungal disease of humans and animals. The fungus which causes blastomycosis is probably inhaled in spore laden dust. Environmental variables which appear most important for the growth of the fungus are temperature and humidity.

Blastomycosis can present in one of the following ways:

1. Flu like illness with fever, chills, myalgia, headache, and a nonproductive cough which resolves within days.

2. An acute illness resembling bacterial pneumonia, with symptoms of high fever, chills, a productive cough, and pleuritic chest pain.

3. Skin lesions, usually asymptomatic, appear as ulcerated lesions with small pustules at the margins

Rabbit Fever

It is caused by rodents and rabbits. It has been seen in fox, beaver, mice, and muskrats. It is transmitted while handling infected animals, contamination of cuts, mosquito bites, and by inhalation. Symptoms are flu-like with an ulcer forming on the skin at the site the organism entered, this is followed by enlargement of the lymph nodes; if ingested, vomiting and diarrhea are seen; if inhaled, pneumonia. Humans do die from this disease.<bio>Daniel is a professional bat removal expert.
When warm weather rolls around, families around the nation need to be aware of tick-borne illnesses and how they can affect not only pets, but people too. One of the greatest misconceptions about tick-borne illnesses is that you would have to spend a lot of time in the wilderness when, in fact, you can become infected in your own backyard. The key to prevention is through knowledge and care.

Lyme disease is a potentially serious ailment that stems from the black-legged deer tick but, despite their title, these carriers aren't only found on deer. In fact, your dog could unknowingly have been infected or could pass along the tick that could infect an individual or even a family. The best way to know how to prevent this from occurring is to speak with a veterinarian regarding the specific concerns for your area. Although Lyme Disease has been reported in all 50 states, there are other tick-borne illnesses that may also pose a health risk to your pet and your family.

The next step to protecting your family and pet against tick-borne illnesses is to be aware of the symptoms and how to identify them properly. As is the case with many symptoms, one ailment often sounds very similar to another. For this reason alone, certain signs may go overlooked. A loss of appetite, depression, pain in the muscles and/or joints, weight loss, fever are all potential symptoms of a tick-borne illness. If any of these symptoms appear, it's wise to seek medical attention for a proper diagnosis.

If you are a pet owner, make sure that your veterinarian checks your pet for tick-borne illnesses annually. In addition, you can help by checking his/her coat every day for ticks and, if recommended by your vet, use a preventative medicine for your four-legged friend.

By protecting your pet and being aware of your surroundings, you can also help to protect your family from becoming ill. When outdoors, it's a good idea to wear full-length pants and a long sleeve shirt. If you will be spending a lot of time in the woods, hiking boots can be worn and pants should be tucked inside to prevent infection.

The information contained in this article is designed to be used for reference purposes only. It should not be used as, in place of or in conjunction with professional medical advice and/or recommendations surrounding the diagnosis, prevention and/or treatment of tick-borne diseases. For additional information on this topic, including questions regarding symptoms or diagnosis, speak with your physician. <bio>http://www.red3enterprises.com </bio>

Did you know that dogs are affected by arthritis just like humans? And just as with humans, there are many causes and classifications of canine arthritis. The term arthritis actually means inflammation of the joint. This inflammation can be triggered by aging, trauma, ruptured tendons, torn ligaments, degenerative joint disease and also lack of activity. Below are some of the common forms of canine arthritis:

Canine Arthritis: Osteoarthritis

This form of canine arthritis is the most common and it is also referred to as degenerative joint disease. This type of arthritis is a slowly progressing disease which causes the breakdown of the cartilage inside a joint. Cartilage is a special type of tissue that swathes the bones where they come in contact with each other to provide shock absorption and lubrication. This provides pain free and frictionless movement. When the cartilage becomes damaged, osteoarthritis begins to develop. When the body is unable to repair the damaged cartilage, pain and inflammation sets in followed by permanent damage to the joint.

Canine Arthritis: Infectious Arthritis

This type of arthritis is caused by a growth of microorganisms within a joint. The infection can start in the joint, or spread there from a different place in the body which is the case with Lyme disease. Lyme disease is transmitted by ticks and can affect one or more joints.

Canine Arthritis: Rheumatoid Arthritis

This form of arthritis is not common and usually strikes middle aged or older dogs belonging to the smaller breeds.

Canine Arthritis: Systematic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)

This type of arthritis is a polysystemic disease which affects the joints. The disease causes the dog's immune system to attack the body and damage the organs, joints, and skin.

Canine Arthritis: Symptoms

A common sign for the dog to display if he is suffering from arthritis is to have stiffness in the morning. He may appear to have pain and not want to be picked up or touched in certain places on his body. He may favor a particular limb while walking and may develop a limp. The dog may also become lethargic and not have an interest in physical activity. He may hesitate to jump or have difficulty standing or sitting.

Canine Arthritis: Treatments

Unfortunately there is no cure for canine arthritis as of today but there are methods to control the symptoms. The primary treatment is for the purpose of pain management, and pain relief lotions have proven to be effective for treating the stiffness and aches associated with canine arthritis. Sometimes, surgery is recommended but usually the less extreme treatment methods will be attempted first. The best thing to do is consult with your veterinarian who can advise you on how best to care for your ailing dog so he will receive the best care possible. Your vet may try such supplements as chondroitin and glucosamine which have both been shown to be useful in reducing inflammation and slowing the degenerative process in dogs. These substances work by drawing fluid into the joints which helps the body to repair the damage to the cartilage. <bio>Sarah Thomas is an established freelance writer.
Owning a dog is one of the most rewarding experiences a person can have in their lifetime, but having a dog is much more than the occasional walk around the block or playing fetch in the yard. There are many other responsibilities that one must consider in order to be a good dog owner. Your dog's health is a major concern to any good pet owner and in this article we will concentrate on some preventable threats to your pet.

As winter ends and spring starts, so do different types of threats to your dog. Obviously, as the weather starts getting nicer, your pet spends more time outdoors and is more susceptible to the these threats. It is important to be alert for ticks, mosquitoes and micro organisms that spread diseases that are harmful to your dog's health. Ticks normally live in wooded areas or in tall brush and do not transmit bacteria through the air, but by biting the dog. Some other threats are summarized below:

Lyme disease- is a tick-borne bacterial disease and it can cause lameness, kidney damage and death.

Leptospirosis- this is the #1 cause of acute renal failure, "lepto" is a deadly bacterial disease that is spread by contact with urine from other pets, wildlife and livestock and can be transmitted from dogs to people.

Rabies- is a fatal viral disease transmitted by saliva most often through bite wounds and is a threat to both humans and animals.

Heartworm Disease- is a mosquito-borne disease that is preventable and attacks multiple organs and will cause death if untreated.

As a dog owner, there are many things you can do to minimize the risk to your pet. Brush your dog often and visually inspect your animal especially after an outing in the woods. Additionally, use tick and flea treatments and medications that your veterinarian recommends to kill these harmful pests. Furthermore, your veterinarian can suggest how to protect your pet from lyme disease through vaccination.

There is another important factor in taking care of your dog: twice-a-year wellness exams. You see, dogs age faster than we do and major health changes can occur in a short amount of time. Moreover, your dog is living longer, which increases the chance of potentially serious illnesses during their lifetime.

These wellness exams can help your veterinarian diagnose, treat or prevent problems before they become life threatening. Additionally, these exams allow the veterinarian to discuss nutrition, your dog's behavior or other concerns you may have.

In return for all this attention, your dog will reciprocate with unconditional love, friendship and affection. Try to educate yourself to protect your dog from these and other harmful threats. If we were to think in terms of finances, what a wonderful return on your investment!
Dog Diseases number in the scores, just as in humans. But, veterinarians tend to see some much more than others. Sadly, a great deal of grief could be avoided if more dog owners were careful to see that their pets are immunized regularly against preventable dog diseases.

While experts, as usual, may differ, what are the top ten dog diseases? Here's a list (not necessarily in order of seriousness) with a brief explanation of each disease:

Distemper:

Of all the dog diseases, the American Veterinary Medical Association considers the distemper virus to be the worst canine disease threat to dogs world wide. Distemper is fatal in 80% of puppies and 50% of adults. All dogs are extremely vulnerable, and should be vaccinated, with subsequent boosters in keeping the recommendation of a Veterinarian.

Parvovirus (Parvo):

Parvovirus is a worldwide dog disease. It is extremely contagious, especially among puppies, and can overwhelm a dog leading to death within 48 to 72 hours after exposure. Symptoms include depression, loss of appetite, vomiting and severe diarrhea. Parvo vaccination is essential with booster shots as recommended.

Rabies:

Rabies is a virus and becomes fatal when symptoms appear. Because rabies can be fatal to humans and other mammals, state and local laws uniformly require rabies vaccination, many mandating booster shots yearly.

Kennel Cough:

This is a respiratory disease especially prevalent in kennels and shelters. There are a variety of virus strains, including Bortadella. Symptoms can include a dry hacking cough along with inflammation of the larynx, bronchial tubes and trachea. Vaccination, as often as every six months is recommended.

Leptospirosis:

Symptoms of Leptospirosis include lethargy, kidney inflammation, low-grade fever, vomiting, reddening of the mucous membranes and conjunctiva, and blood clotting abnormalities. Since it is a bacterial disease, also found in humans, it is treated with antibiotics. Veterinarians are often reluctant to innoculate against this dog disease, since there is questionable effectiveness, and puppies can have adverse reactions.

Infectious canine hepatitis:

While this dog disease often manifests itself with mild symptoms such as a slight fever or slight lethargy, it can, in some instances become fatal. Recovery is usually rapid. Vaccination is recommended.

Lyme Disease:

Symptoms of Lyme Disease in dogs will include lethargy, joint pain, lack of appetite, lymph node enlargement, and fever. Lyme Disease is bacterial and is spread by ticks. Treatment is with tetracycline, an antibiotic. The available vaccine is not generally recommended.

Coronavirus:

Diarrhea and vomiting are symptomatic of this dog disease so it can be confused with parvovirus. Other indications are loss of appetite, smelly diarrhea, lethargy and dehydration. Replacement of lost fluids and control of vomiting and diarrhea are the recommended treatments. A vaccine is not generally recommended.

Obesity:

Just as in humans, this dog disease is a serious medical problem. Frequently, obese humans own obese dogs. Obviously, limiting food intake, withholding human food and enough exercise will contribute to a dogs longer life.

Heartworm:

Heartworms are parasites that grow and multiply, infesting the chambers in the heart, arteries in the lungs. Symptoms appear gradually, usually manifested in easy tiring, lethargy and a soft cough. If not treated, it eventually brings on death by congestive heart failure in a once active animal. Prevention with products such as HartGard is recommended.

Your veterinarian should give you a certificate showing your pet's immunization against the common dog diseases. Ask for a wallet sized card which you can carry with you. <bio>Robert G.
A horrifying and fascinating disease is affecting thousands of people in the Bay Area, along the Gulf Coast, Florida and through out the world. The disease is called Morgellons, and no one knows what causes it or if it's even a real skin disorder. People with weird symptoms with no alternatives available at the moment; find comfort and a diagnosis on the Internet. After more than a year of pressure from patients convinced they have Morgellons, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will begin investigating the ailment for the first time and determine, once and for all, whether the Morgellons disease exists.

It was named 2002 by Mary Leitao in McMurray, Pa. Leitao named the condition Morgellons Disease, after a disease with similar symptoms mentioned in a 16th-century medical text, while investigating a skin condition on her then two year old son. Nobody had every heard about it before then. Till this day, few doctors have heard of the condition; fewer still know what to make of it. Most in the medical community dismiss it as a hoax, scabies, Lyme disease or a mental condition called Delusional Parasitosis. Delusional Parasitosis is a mistaken belief that one is being infested by parasites such as mites, lice, fleas, spiders, worms, bacteria, or other organisms.

Most victims with this skin disease report painful crawling, stinging, and biting sensations, as well as non-healing skin lesions, which are associated with fiber like or filamentous structures. Victims as well have reported the presence of seed-like granules and black speck-like material above and in their lesions. The reaction of medical professionals has made a difficult situation even harder for victims. Dermatologists claim the filaments are all delusions, although none had taken the time to even study them.

Oklahoma State University Professor Randy Wymore was the first scientist to conduct research on this skin disease. He says it's the biggest mystery he's ever been involved in. Wymore says his tests rule out not only textile fibers, but also worms, insects, animal material and even human skin and hair. He says the filaments are not an external contamination. Instead, they are a substance that materializes somehow inside the body, apparent artifacts of something infectious. If no more medical professionals take the time to study this, we may never know the truth as it continues to spread. <bio>Brought to you by Frank G.
Joint inflammation has a lot do with the body trying to heal itself, both rightly and wrongly. The human body is a complex system that is working hard to survive; therefore it will always attempt to heal any injured or diseased part of itself. Joint inflammation does not always result in healing; in fact it can be very destructive of joints. That is why this article was written.

The body's immune system is designed to seek and destroy bacteria and other foreign particles that invade the body. It does this by sending immune cells and antibodies into the effected area of the body and this cause swelling in that area. This would include mechanical injury to a joint such as a fracture or the presence of an infection usually caused by viruses or bacteria. For example, Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that can inflame and create joint pain and swelling. The treatment for knee joint pain often includes testing for Lyme disease since knee swelling and pain are common symptoms. But, there is also something called an autoimmune disease where the immune system malfunctions and mistakenly attacks its own body tissue, in this case joint tissue.

In looking at a healthy joint one can see it has its full range of motion and it bends, flexes and turns with an easy fluid movement. A joint is the junction where bones meet. In a Synovial joint there is cartilage between these bones and the Synovial membrane or lining that secretes Synovial fluid, this separates and protects the cartilage and the bones from fiction as one bends or turns the bones that meet in that joint.

Getting back to the immune system; specifically where it malfunctions and mistakenly attacks its own body tissue. This can be Rheumatoid Arthritis since RA causes the Synovial lining to swell. Inflammation in the joints is swelling of the Synovial lining. It distends or balloons tissue and cells in the effected joints which compresses nerve endings causing pain, aching, and stiffness. There may also be redness of the skin around the joint and reduced ability to move the joint. Lupus is another autoimmune disease that can cause the joint to be swollen and ache.

When the inflammation does not go away it can lead to destruction of the joint, results in long-term pain and deformity. COX-2 is an enzyme that is found in areas of the body responsible for creating inflammation and its resulting pain. Drugs in recent years have targeted to block this enzyme with what is called COX-2 Inhibitors and these drugs would be a great solution to this problem if it were not for the extreme side effects that accompany these drugs. Vioxx, is one such drug and has now been removed from the market. Fortunately there is a natural and effective COX-2 Inhibitor available with no side effect. For more in depth information download the free report in the resource box.

The immune system usually heals the body, that joint swollen with inflammation can be the body healing itself. But, when inflammation in a joint or joints is a chronic or when joint ache is chronic then it indicates a serious problem that does need attention. Herbal remedies for joint pains are available and should be used instead of drugs whenever possible. <bio>So if you have any joint problems go to http://www.ToBe-Healthy.com/forarthritis/ for the non-drug solution I use.
