Nobody likes pain and it's meant to be unpleasant.

However, pain is useful. It alerts you about the problem in your body. You should never ignore pain, especially stomach and back pain. The pain may be an indicator of something more serious.

When you encounter stomach pain, it normally means you ate something you shouldn't have. However, when stomach and back pain are combined, never ignore the symptoms. When stomach and back pain occur together, it could mean a number of things. It may be due to digestion problems, acid reflux, or nerve damage. If you do encounter both together, don't hesitate to see a doctor immediately.

When you see your doctor, he or she will want to know about the pain you're experiencing. Explain the pain exactly as you feel it. Is it a sharp pain, as if someone were jabbing you with a sharp stick, or is it a dull, recurring pain? Does the pain get worse when you sneeze or cough, does it keep you from sleeping, or does your stomach and back pain go away and come back with any kind of regularity? These are just a few of the questions your doctor will ask before examining you. The doctor will determine if the problem is minor, such as digestion problems or more serious, such as nerve damage, which could require surgery.

Stomach and back pain, especially when they occur together, should not be ignored. When you feel pain such as this, it usually means there's something going on inside and the pain is the only way to alert you about the problem. Your doctor is the one who should make the diagnosis, however, so it's important not to try any alternate treatment.Let your doctor examine your stomach and back pain as soon as it occurs, for you don't want to exacerbate it by waiting too long.

For more Information check http://www.arthritisreliefhelp.info <bio>Roger Thompson writes articles on arthritis and pain relief for http://arthritisrelief.info </bio>

It can happen to you today, over a year or somewhere in the next 10 years but to most of us it will happen at least ones in our lives. We are talking about lower back pain in this article and when you are one of many who already have experienced it one time ore even more times, you know you will do anything to prevent it from happening again. You can divide lower back pain in two types, there is the acute form that will usually last for a few days to a few weeks and there is the chronic lower back pain and this can last months and in some cases even years. The intensity can vary from day to day, with some days the pain can be bearable and some days where the pain is excruciating.

Lower back pain exercises can help you in three ways:

- prevent acute lower back pain from returning

- prevent acute lower back pain from become chronic

- reduce chronic lower back pain

When you want to do some exercises for prevention there are some things you should know first, acute lower back pain is usually caused by muscle strain and overuse, for example doing yard work for a couple of hours can cause this kind of back pain most of the time the day after is the wurst day. The only way to treat this is to take a little rest but not longer than a day or two, avoid positions that exacerbate the pain, use heat or ice, and take a pain killer if you absolutely need to. After that first day of rest you need to start doing some exercises.

With acute lower back pain you can do the exercises on your own but when you have chronic back pain it is wise to learn the exercises under supervision of a physical therapist. Most of the time you can do them on your own after you have the hang of it and even when there is a waiting list for the physical therapist there is a lot you can do without supervision.

When the extreme pain is over and you are able to stand up on your own, it is time to start with some strengthening exercises and gentle stretches, these will not only address your back but also your stomach and legs. All exercise you do should be about strengthening the muscles in the back stomach and legs because when you have strong muscles they are much less sensitive to be strained. And when you have strong leg and stomach muscles these can help your back muscles from overuse and straining. Strong muscles help to keep less strong muscles in place, our body just works better when it has strong muscles. This way the exercises will prevent the back pain from returning and become chronic, it also helps you recover much faster.

You should not let any residual pain keep you from doing exercises, lying in bed will make your muscles only stiffer and you will lose strength and flexibility. In the long run it will make you feel better, if you are a little bit hard for yourself remember the pain will be much greater if you rest to long.

Keep on doing these lower back pain exercises for a couple of weeks or even months after the pain has gone away to prevent it from returning.<bio>Richard Collins knows about back pain first hand. He has seen all kinds of doctors and done all kinds of therapies. On his blog he talks about this subject in more detail ranging from exercises for lower back pain to back pain kidney.</bio>

The Causes of Acid Reflux

Those people who suffer with the extreme discomfort caused by acid reflux will ask the obvious question, "what causes acid reflux?" Yet the answer to this question is not so simple for each person is different.

common causes of acid reflux lower oesophagus sphincter hiatal hernia esophageal contractions emptying of the stomach over production of acid

The common name for acid reflux is heartburn and this is experienced by the burning sensation behind the breast bone. This pain is caused by the acid in the stomach seeping into the oesophagus. The acid is allowed to reflux into the oesophagus. Even a very slight opening into the oesophagus will allow acid to creep in and the pain were commence. The level of pain depends very much on how much acid is released.

There are several medicinal remedies to control acid production in the stomach. These medicines may very well prevent the production of acid in the gut but the fact remains that whatever liquidity is in the stomach will seep into the oesophagus. There may be no acid to reflux yet reflux will continue.

The lower esophagus sphincter has a specific function and that is to open when a person swallows. Mind you however, the opening should only last for a few seconds it is then meant to close to prevent reflux from taking place. He weakened muscle in this area will allow acid reflux to continue. Another problem is that the lower esophagus sphincter may open for too long. Against this allows acid reflux to happen.

Herniated Hiatal Muscles and its effects on the Diaphragm

The diaphragm is situated on the same level as the lower esophagus sphincter. An hiatal hernia will allow a small section of the stomach to pass through the diaphragm and unfortunately this were forced acid once again into the oesophagus and initiate a horrendous pain associated with the condition.

Many patients who experience problems with the lower oesophagus find that they take longer to empty stomach contents than the average person. The more time it takes for the stomach to empty the more time there is far acid to reflux into the oesophagus.

Over eating can also trigger acid reflux pain. When you over eat when you fill the stomach and there is no room in it. Therefore the acid has to go somewhere and yes you guessed -- it goes back into the oesophagus. A person who suffers into chronic pain of acid reflux will find that over eating and ending and sitting forward while the stomach is full, that they once again experience untenable pain of acid reflux. <bio>Peter Wellington writes for http://www.treatacid.com, a website providing a comprehensive archive of free information and guides on the signs, symtoms adn treatment of the painful compliant acid relux - he answers the common question what is acid reflux?... </bio>

Heartburn on overdrive!

Acid reflux disease is a result of stomach acid that simply doesn't stay where it is supposed to... in the stomach. Instead of staying in the stomach the wayward gastric acid decides to back flow up the esophagus and back into the mouth.

Yuck!

Leaving a wickedly bitter taste, this stomach acid on a reverse course can actually leaves pockets of erosive destruction in its wake. Erosive esophagitis is a result of the destruction of the lining of the esophagus.

At least three months of painful, persistent and frequent heartburn, can earn you a diagnosis of acid reflux disease.

Heartburn is the quiet gentle cousin of its more aggressive and destructive family member acid reflux disease. Bubbling stomach acid regurgitates from the stomach sending the gastric juices back into the throat via the esophagus. It is the bubbling stomach acid that backs up into the esophagus that causes the characteristic burn of acid reflux disease.

The lower esophageal sphincter, LES, is the valve separating the esophagus and the stomach, is designed to be the gatekeeper of the stomach and is meant to keep the stomach acids in the stomach where they belong.

However, when the LES fails at its ever so well designed job, the stomach acids back flow.

The LES can fail through a couple of different ways, such as through relaxation of the sphincter, often associated with a hiatal hernia, and through incomplete closing of the sphincter.

The body is so perfectly designed that the LES is a working valve that opens to let food into the stomach and is meant to close to keep the acids out of the esophagus.

It just happens that when it fails, acid reflux disease or gastroesophageal reflux disease, GERD, can be the result. So basically if the LES would do its job and keep the valve open when it's supposed to be open and closed when it's supposed to be closed then acid reflux disease would really be a thing of the past!

The good news is that you don't have to put up with heartburn on overdrive. There are many treatment options available for the relief of this pestering and chronic disease.

Acid reflux disease doesn't have to control your life! Talk with your healthcare provider today and get started on the road to better health.

Show that heartburn just who's the boss! <bio>For more important information on http://www.a-stomach-pain.com visit a-stomach-pain.com where you will find advice and tips on common stomach pain causes such as http://www.a-stomach-pain.com/flx/acid-reflux.html, ulcers, and other articles. </bio>

Also known as acid reflux disease, left untreated GERD can cause long term damage to the esophagus.

GERD is most often defined as persistent heartburn which occurs two or more days per week and is present for a minimum of three months. GERD may last up to two or more hours. Although it is often worse after eating, GERD is also reported by patients as a nighttime nuisance, especially increasing while lying down.

One of the most common symptoms of GERD is heartburn, often described as chest pain. It is very important to seek medical attention when experiencing chest pain as the chest pain associated with acid reflux disease can often mimic the chest pain associated with a heart attack. Mid-sternal chest pain or pain radiating down the arms or into the neck or back is often similar in description in both patients experiencing a heart attack and GERD.

In addition to chest pain, other symptoms of acid reflux disease may include a burning in the mid-chest behind the breast bone, difficulty or pain with swallowing, the sensation of a "lump" in the throat, sore throat or a general irritation of the throat, hoarseness, an acidic or bitter taste in the mouth resulting from the back flow of the stomach contents into the esophagus, nausea, vomiting or an inflammation of the back of the throat.

It is important to remember that not all those suffering with GERD describe the same symptoms. While some sufferers describe the pain of acid reflux as a sharp pain others describe it more as a generalized pressure and burning sensation.

A physician or healthcare provider can best assess, diagnose and treat acid reflux disease. Left untreated GERD can cause long term damage such as tooth erosion from the prolonged exposure of the teeth to stomach acid or esophagitis, an erosion of the lining of the esophagus. Treatments are generally effective with careful planning and lifestyle modifications by motivated sufferers. <bio>For more important information on http://www.a-stomach-pain.com visit http://a-stomach-pain.com where you will find advice and tips on common stomach pain causes such as http://www.a-stomach-pain.com/acid-reflux.html, ulcers, and other articles. </bio>

Using one or more of this exercise for low back pain one should notice immediate relief .

The low back pain comes about due to excessive flexion, which means that you will need to perform an exercise for low back pain that will move the pain in an opposite direction such as an extension exercise to get relief. By performing simple an exercise for low back pain at your convenience during the day you may notice that pain is diminished and not resumed even after having sat at your desk for considerable lengths of time.

You can also try out a different exercise for low back pain in which you can lie on your stomach and with your elbows begin to slowly raise you while arching your back. In this exercise for low back pain you will need to keep your hips on the floor as also need to relax the lower back while holding the position for about half a minute. Then, you can repeat until you are able to hold the position for five minutes.

Of course, if you are one of those people that are not intrested in performing exercises for your low back pain you may have to resort to your grandma's old remedy and simply refrain from slouching altogether.

For more Information check http://www.arthritisreliefhelp.info <bio>Roger Thompson writes articles on arthritis and pain relief for http://arthritisrelief.info </bio>

Only those who have actually experienced periodic back spasms or chronic back pain understand how debilitating it can be; it makes even the simplest acts like getting in and out of a chair, or bending to tie a shoe intolerably painful.

Most of the time, rest seems to be the only answer for a painful back, but there may be instances when some limited movement is advisable.

As soon as you begin experiencing sever back pain call your doctor.

Find out how long you should remain immobile with bed rest; there are times when being on bed rest for more than two days can be counter-productive, and may actually slow your recovery

While you back may not be capable of much movement, the rest of you limbs are functional and need to stay active. Having weak legs when your back feels good enough for some exercise is not going to be helpful, and will simply extend the time it takes you to get back to normal. For more info see http://www.backpainreliefhelp.com/Back_Pain_Exercise/ on Back Pain Exercise.

Keep Your Legs Moving

At the very least, make an attempt to stand up each day. There is a danger that, if your legs are idle for long periods of time, the may develop blood clots. Getting back on your feet even briefly will help maintain normal blood circulation in your legs.

One Lower Back Exercise

If you are able to get from your bed onto the floor, then lie stomach-down on the floor and support yourself with you elbows.

Push up with your elbows so that your stomach and chest are raised while your hips remain in contact with the floor. Get your stomach and chest raised as far as you can without forcing them, and when you can not longer hold the position, roll over on your back and place a rolled towel or pillow beneath your lower back.

This exercise is designed for people whose problems originate in their lower backs; it is most effective for those whose pain radiates from the center of the back outwards.. If your back pain seems to radiate not from the center but from one side, lie on you stomach as explained above, and place your weight on the hip opposite the painful area of your back. Then continue with pushing you chest and stomach off the floor.

There are things that go without saying when you are incapacitated with back pain: no sudden movements, no lifting, no sitting without good back support--and no driving if you can possibly avoid it. Move as much as you can, and when you can stand up, stand as straight as possible. <bio>You can also find more info on http://www.backpainreliefhelp.com/Back_Pain_Mattress/ on Back Pain Mattress and http://www.backpainreliefhelp.com/Back_Pain_Medication/ on Back Pain Medication. http://Backpainreliefhelp.com is a comprehensive resource to help in Back Pain Relief. </bio>

It could be acid reflux disease. Characterized by the abnormal reflux of the stomach's gastric contents backwards into the esophagus resulting in a burning in the chest a throat. Left untreated the chronic symptoms of acid reflux disease can lead to erosion of the delicate esophageal tissues.

A temporary relaxation of or an abnormal closing of the lower esophageal sphincter, LES, allows the back flow or regurgitation of stomach acids back into the esophagus causing the characteristic heartburn associated with acid reflux disease.

A burning or general soreness in the throat, chest pain, a burning sensation in the chest, hoarseness, difficulty or painful swallowing, nausea, vomiting, pain in the ears, an acidic taste in the mouth, the sensation of fluid arising from the throat back into the mouth, bad breath and a chronic cough or tickle in the throat are all frequently reported symptoms of acid reflux disease.

It is important to remember that someone suffering with heartburn does not necessarily have acid reflux disease. Heartburn is often the result of a heavy meal or even an overly fatty or acidic meal. Heartburn occurs infrequently and may simply be just that... heartburn... and not the more serious condition of acid reflux disease. Persistent, frequent heartburn occurring more often than twice per week may be a sign that acid reflux is the culprit and not just your run-of-the-mill heartburn. Heartburn unrelieved by traditional methods and occurring more frequently than usual should be evaluated by a physician or healthcare provider for a proper assessment and diagnosis.

Left untreated acid reflux disease can lead to esophagitis, an erosion of the lining of the esophagus, or tooth decay from the constant exposure of the teeth to gastric acid. There are many treatment options available for acid reflux disease... you don't have to live with the pain anymore! <bio>For more important information on http://www.a-stomach-pain.com visit http://a-stomach-pain.com where you will find advice and tips on common stomach pain causes such as http://www.a-stomach-pain.com/acid-reflux.html, ulcers, and many other articles. </bio>

Affecting millions of Americans each year, a stomach ulcer is a raw, open area in the normal lining of the stomach. Stomach ulcers get their particular name depending on the exact location of the ulcer. For example, a duodenal or peptic ulcer is a stomach ulcer found in the first foot of small intestines past the stomach. A gastric ulcer in located inside the stomach itself. Although duodenal or peptic ulcers are almost always benign, it is important to remember that gastric or stomach ulcers can be malignant. Close medical management is critical.

A protective layer of mucus producing cells prevent the stomach from being destroyed by normal digestive juices and stomach acids. However, when there is a break in that protective layer trouble can occur. A stomach ulcer occurs when the gastric or intestinal mucosal lining of the stomach is destroyed by hydrochloric acid, an acid which is normally present in the digestive juices of the stomach.

Another cause of ulcers, particularly gastric and duodenal ulcers, can be a bacterial infection known as Helicobacter pylori or H. pylori. The helicobacter pylori bacterium may be transmitted from person to person through contaminated food and water and is treated with antibiotics.

One of the major symptoms of a stomach ulcer is pain, more specifically pain that feels much like a gnawing or burning pain in the middle upper abdomen often occurring some two to three hours after a meal. Often this pain is mistaken for heartburn or even hunger. Pain from a stomach ulcer may awaken you at night and may be relieved with food or milk.

Stomach ulcers are treated with prescription strength medications designed to reduce stomach acid, to protect the stomach lining and to treat the H. pylori bacteria, if it is present.

There are several medications that are commonly used to treat stomach ulcers. If the intent is to reduce stomach acid, then your physician may prescribe medications such as H2-Receptor antagonists like Nizatidine (Axid®), Cimetidine (Tagamet®), Ranitidine (Zantac®), or Famotidine (Pepcid®). Also used to reduce stomach acids are medications called Proton pump inhibitors. These types of medications include Omeprazole (Prilosec®), Esomeprazole (Nexium®), Lansoprazole (Prevacid®), or Pantoprazole (Pantoloc®). Medications used to protect the lining of the stomach include over-the-counter medications such as Rolaids or Tums or medications such as sucralfate, which forms a protective barrier over the site of the ulcer to help it to heal.

Stomach ulcers are certainly painful and can lead to additional complications such as bleeding. They require aggressive treatment directed by your healthcare provider in order to resolve the current ulcer and attempt to prevent future recurrences. <bio>For more important information on stomach pain be sure to visit http://a-stomach-pain.com where you will find advice and tips on common stomach pain causes such as acid stomach ulcer, Crohn's disease, and other articles that you can view at http://www.a-stomach-pain.com </bio>

Caused by damage to the vagus nerve, which regulates the digestive system, Gastroparesis is a condition in which the stomach in incapable of completely emptying food in a normal manner.

Because of the damage to the vagus nerve, which regulates the digestive system, the muscles in the stomach and in the intestine work improperly and with this malfunction keep the food from moving through properly the gastrointestinal system.

With this disorder there is no evidence of an obstruction or other occlusion of the stomach which could be the cause of the delayed emptying of food contents.

Gastroparesis is caused by uncontrolled diabetes, uncontrolled hypertension, or gastric surgery with injury to the vagus nerve. However, in approximately 60% of the cases, there is no definite cause of Gastroparesis.

Heartburn, GERD, nausea, vomiting, vague stomach pains, abdominal bloating, weight loss, vomiting undigested food and feeling full very quickly when eating even after just a few bites are some of the primary symptoms of Gastroparesis.

Gastroparesis is a chronic condition and current treatment typically does not cure the disease.

However there are several options available to help better manage this condition. The treatment of Gastroparesis is dependent on the severity and life-impact of the symptoms.

Easy to implement treatment options include dietary changes of eating several small meals each day instead of three large meals which allows your stomach to empty the smaller meals more quickly.

Also, the diet of choice should be one lower in fiber, fat and roughage. Often liquid meals or softer foods are better than solid foods for those with Gastroparesis.

Certain medications may also be employed in order to help with stomach emptying. One of the more commonly used medications is metoclopramide or Reglan®. However, medication often has dose-limiting side effects that may cause a patient to decide to stop taking it after a short while.

Another medication, Erythromycin, an antibiotic, is also used to speed up stomach emptying. Anti-emetics designed to control the nausea and vomiting associated with Gastroparesis may also be used.

This chronic condition can be difficult to manage and to control the symptoms. Working closely with a healthcare provider is the key to finding the combination of treatments that will work best. <bio>For more important information on stomach pain be sure to visit http://a-stomach-pain.com where you will find advice and tips on common stomach pain causes such as acid stomach ulcer, Crohn's disease, and other articles that you can view at http://www.a-stomach-pain.com </bio>

Stomach pain that is associated with ulcers knows no boundaries. They are capable of afflicting any age, and either gender at any time.

Although generally not initially considered a serious health condition, ulcers certainly should not go untreated. Peptic ulcers are lesions located in the stomach, the esophagus, or the duodenum that left untreated can lead to very serious complications such as a perforated ulcer or even a bleeding ulcer that could become life threatening.

Essentially what happens with an ulcer is the thin protective mucus lining that protects the intestinal lining breaks down and allows bacteria called Helicobacter Pylori to attack the tissue and cause a sore to develop. So, the combination of the Helicobacter Pylori bacteria and natural stomach acids set the stage for a peptic ulcer to develop.

Stomach ulcers are extremely common in today's society. Each year millions of Americans are diagnosed with some form and severity of an ulcer - with research indicating that smoking, caffeine, and alcohol consumption certainly being heavy contributors to this disorder.

The warning signs of the onset of an ulcer are a sharp burning sensation in your stomach and even up into your esophagus. Many times the pain will surface at some time after a meal. Remember, consuming food will trigger digestive fluids (acids) that will come in contact with the sore (ulcer) and begin causing some level of discomfort and pain.

Over the counter relief in the form of antacids have long been the choices for temporary relief from the pain of a stomach ulcer. Although the antacids can help neutralize the acidic fluids that your body naturally produces and provide some relief, be advised that these same antacids can also affect the absorption of other medications. Because of this make sure you consult with your doctor before you consider embarking on any self treatment program.

Ulcers are no different from any other chronic or persistent pain you may being experiencing. If this is the case with your stomach pain, see your doctor. Certainly the passing of blood through a bowel movement is a huge red flag (that could be a symptom several health problems) that you should address immediately.

Regardless, of what you think may or may not be causing your stomach pain, take the time early to consult with your doctor. Today, the vast majority of ulcers does not require any type of invasive medical procedure and can be controlled or even eliminated through diet or doctor prescribed medication. But the key is early evaluation and diagnosis. <bio>For more important information on http://www.a-stomach-pain.com.
Signs of a stomach ulcer can include nausea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain just beneath the ribcage, indigestion, vomiting, symptoms of anemia, weight loss, and blood present in vomit or bowel movements.

If you experience these symptoms for any length of time, it is important to seek medical attention. These are not symptoms to be ignored.

Stomach ulcers occur when there is a break in the tissue lining of the stomach. These ulcers normally occur in the stomach or the first part of the small intestine that leads out of the stomach, called the duodenum.

Commonly stomach ulcers are related to extreme stress, smoking and diet. Any of which are factors over which we have control, making it possible to heal a ulcer; if you work to eliminate some of the contributing factors that can lead to the development.

If you begin noticing the signs of a stomach ulcer, these signs should not be ignored. In fact, an appointment with your doctor should be your course of action if these symptoms persist.

In order for your doctor to make a specific diagnosis, several tests may be ordered to help determine the exact cause of your stomach pain.

One of the first tests your physician may order is the barium swallow or upper GI series of X-rays. This test allows your doctor to identify and locate any ulcers and determine its type and severity.

The barium swallow test requires you to drink a "barium milkshake." This thick "shake" contains a liquid that will light up on an x-ray. The barium will light up on the x-ray making it easier for your physician to see exactly what is going on and causing your pain.

You are normally asked to eat only bland, easily digestible foods for two or three days before the test. After drinking the chalky liquid, you will be asked to lie down on a tilting examining table, which as it tilts, evenly distributes the barium around your upper digestive tract and allows the x-ray to capture images at different angles.

Treatment options for stomach ulcers can consist of over the counter medications, prescription medications, modifying your diet, perhaps a lifestyle change that includes the addition of exercise and reduction of stress, and as a last result, surgery.

In summary, any signs of stomach ulcers should not be ignored as the delay in diagnosis and treatment could lead to further complications. It is important to understand, however, that in many cases you have control over the factors that contribute to stomach ulcers. <bio>For more important information on http://www.a-stomach-pain.com.
Burning, oh the burning in my stomach and even my throat!

Acid reflux symptoms are most often described by sufferers as burning, gnawing, painful and oh, yes, chronic...like the kind that refuses to go away, chronic...and persistent... and burning!

Painful, chronic persistent heartburn that lasts three or more months and occurs at least twice each and every week is often diagnosed as Acid Reflux Disease or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). This pesky little nuisance can cause long term damage to the esophagus if left untreated.

Erosive esophagitis, wow... that even sounds painful just reading those words..., occurs when the gastric acids bubbling backwards through the LES, the lower esophageal sphincter, and into the esophagus eventually eroding away the lining of the esophagus causing not only the erosions but often times inflammation and tissue damage as well.

This leaves the patient with a very painful esophagus which can make swallowing undesirable and quite difficult.

In the adult population, acid reflux symptoms are classically seen as heartburn, chest pain, difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), pain or an uncomfortable feeling in the upper middle part of the stomach (dyspepsia) and even difficulty swallowing or the feeling of a lump in the throat.

Less common symptoms include a chronic cough, wheezing, hoarseness, a sore throat and earaches.

When trying to minimize the symptoms of GERD it is important to remember that everyone is different!

Some easy things to try include losing weight if obesity is an issue, avoiding or at least decreasing alcohol consumption, eliminating or decreasing smoking, and avoid foods which may trigger acid reflux symptoms.

Food triggers can include chocolate, caffeinated drinks, spicy foods, garlic, onions, tomato-based foods, fatty foods, fried foods, mint flavorings, citrus fruits. Bummer, sounds like that leaves out a lot of my favorite foods!!

But it is certainly worth making the lifestyle changes necessary to avoid the pain of acid reflux disease symptoms. <bio>For more important information on stomach pain be sure to visit http://a-stomach-pain.com where you will find advice and tips on common stomach pain causes such as acid reflux, ulcers, and other articles that you can view at http://www.a-stomach-pain.com/flx/acid-reflux.html </bio>

Is Overeating And Acid Reflux Causing You Back Pain?

Acid reflux and bad and aching stomach, go hand in hand within those who overeat. The food when dumped in the stomach callously becomes difficult to digest. Stomach takes more time for digestion. It is put under more strain and acid reflux is the assured suffering.

Next, this acid reflux becomes a leading cause for many types of diseases. These could include neck pain, knee problem or shoulder pain. Many times, acid reflux is the major cause of severe back pain.

Well, researchers and scientists have realized the limitations of treatment through pills and medications in such cases. That is, to get a permanent relief from any problem you need to adopt healthy lifestyle changes along with the medications. Both of these go hand in hand to treat health conditions like back pain, especially the one caused by acid reflux or any other lifestyle disturbance.

Now such situations require food management. The high fat foods offered by the fast food eateries, do not serve the cause of your health. With these foods your stomach has to work overtime, it gets more supply of acid to carryout the job of digestion.

Even at home by eating three heavy meals a day you extend a cordial invitation to acid reflux. Eat as much as you want, but slightly change the pattern. Take less quantities of food frequently. Stomach can efficiently digest small doses of food and liquids.

Let's have a look at the symptoms that show you have acid reflux.

When you eat, you have a stabbing pain in your back. The pain will radiate all over, and at times you are unable to understand the exact location of the pain. This pain and protest from the stomach comes immediately after eating.{mospagebreak}

You feel as if a knife is passing through your stomach and back. It can be termed as the stabbing pain.

The treatment of this type of back pain can not be a localized affair. The acid reflux back pain that you experience at the moment could be a milder version of more serious types of diseases in hiding and bidding for their time to attack you.

The best course for you under such conditions is to control the diet. With imaginative food planning, you begin to find the changes for better from day one onwards. Your stomach gets some rest from its primary job of onward transmitting the digested food, and has some times at its disposal for self-maintenance.

The parallel activity for you is to exercise regularly. Yoga postures give the required strength and support to the muscles in the stomach area, and gradually you find that you have better control over acid reflux. <bio>http://www.backpaindetails.com/pain/ and Back Pain provides detailed information on back pain, back pain treatment, back pain cure and more. </bio>

Anybody can suffer from lower back pain and it is the topmost reason why Americans are becoming disabled at work. Today, much research is ongoing which aims at finding the causes of lower back pain.It is believed that there have been spent, as many as fifty billion dollars annually on finding the cause of lower back pain. Some of the causes are already to known to mankind; however, much research is still needed to find the causes that have not yet been ascertained.

You will often hear the word lumbago mentioned in the same breath as lower back pain and the two are one and the same. Lower back pain may occur at any time and at any age.Perhaps the leading cause of lower back pain is muscle strain that occurs after lifting a heavy object, or come about because of a quick movement, or even be a result of falling. Another cause of lower back pain is herniated disc. The spine has discs that act as shock absorbers which protects the bone as we move about. A disc that slips forward in the lower back can cause lot of pain in the lower back and may become especially worse after having stood or sat for prolonged periods of time.

Degenerative disc disease is another condition that causes lower back pain. This condition is a kind of arthritis where the cartilage between the joints gets broken down and the consequent lack of cartilage will result in lower back pain that is mostly felt in the mornings and in the evening. Apart from these common causes of lower back pain, people experience lower back pain because of being obese, being stressed, or due to sleeping on an uncomfortable bed as well as sleeping in a position that can result in lower back pain. Smoking too can cause lower back pain since it reduces the amount of blood flowing to the lower spine and thus results in disc degeneration. Finally, lack of regular exercise is the yet another cause forlower back pain.

For more Information check http://www.arthritisreliefhelp.info <bio>Roger Thompson writes articles on arthritis and pain relief for http://arthritisrelief.info </bio>

Our stomach is one of the parts of the body that receives the harshest treatment and the least appreciation. Think about it. When is the last time you were really thankful that your stomach was working properly? Perhaps it takes seeing a friend or family member who has a rough stomach for us to really be grateful for our stomach health. But it shouldn't. We should be consistently treating our stomach with care so that it can do it's job well without causing us pain.

Being good to your stomach can be simple. Maybe you are already making wise choices for your stomach or perhaps you will have to make some severe lifestyle changes in order to really be good to your stomach. Whatever it requires, you should commit to being good to your stomach from this point forward.

What does it mean to be good to your stomach? Basically, to be good to your stomach means watching the things you put into it and the things you do. Surely everyone has experienced the pain of eating a meal that is too spicy or too greasy or too full of acid. Our stomachs do so much in the process of breaking down our food choices. Many times our stomachs are able to cover up some of our eating "sins," but other times they let us know that we have made a poor choice. I'm convinced that we owe it to our stomachs (not to mention to the rest of our bodies) to make healthy eating choices that are easy on our bodies and good for our health.

Take some time to evaluate the things you are putting into your stomach each day. Are you being kind or harsh? Do you notice any patterns that could perhaps be harmful to your digestive system? If so, consider changing them. You only have one stomach, and therefore it requires your upmost attention and care. Different stomachs have different levels of tolerance for spices, acids, and foods. You may not be able to eat everything your neighbor or even your spouse can eat. It is important that you learn, if you haven't already, what is good for you and stick to it.

The great thing about learning to eat based on the reaction of your stomach is that you will end up making good choices not only for your stomach but also for the rest of your body. The chances are high that what is good for your stomach will also benefit your body and your overall health. So be intentional about what you eat and drink and don't hesitate to pass up things that aren't good for you or your stomach. <bio>Rachael Cleipher has learned some stomach lessons the hard way. She hopes to enlighten others that taking care of their stomach is important. See more at http://www.mystomach.info </bio>

Persistent heartburn occurring two or more days a week and having lasted for at least three months may be the result of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease otherwise known as GERD, acid reflux disease or simply good old fashioned heartburn, is a bother to many today. GERD occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) fails to remain completely closed. The resulting opening in the lower esophageal sphincter allows acid from the stomach to regurgitate or flow backwards into the esophagus, the tube leading from the throat to the stomach. This regurgitation of stomach acid can cause frequent and persistent heartburn, often lasting two hours or more.

Although many sufferers of persistent heartburn report episodes of GERD occurring at night while lying down, there are others who report more occurrences during the day, especially after eating a large meal or a meal high in acid or fat content. Some gastroenterologists suggest that sleeping with the head of the bed elevated approximately six inches can help to prevent nighttime acid reflux.

Other symptoms associated with GERD include a burning in the back of the throat, chest pain, difficulty swallowing, pain with swallowing, hoarseness, throat irritation, bitter or acidic taste in the mouth or even an inflammation of the throat and esophagus.

It is critical to remember that the chest pain associated with GERD or acid reflux disease can mimic the symptoms of a heart attack. For example, both acid reflux and a heart attack can cause chest pain which may be either sharp or dull and can radiate into the back, the arms and the neck. Ignoring these symptoms is foolish and dangerous. The cause of chest pain must be determined by a physician or healthcare provider. Simply assuming that chest pain is a result of heartburn without confirmation from a professional should never occur.

Smoking, caffeine, hormones, chocolates, peppermint, tight clothing, certain medications, obesity, pregnancy, and even certain body positions have all been identified as GERD triggers. Many of these triggers are avoidable or even controllable making it easier to manage acid reflux disease with lifestyle modifications.

GERD may often be accompanied by a hiatal hernia. Defined as a protrusion of a portion of the stomach through the esophageal hiatus, an opening in the diaphragm, which leads into the chest, a hiatal hernia can certainly contribute to the onset and severity of GERD. A hiatal hernia is thought to allow the lower esophageal sphincter to relax and thereby keep the esophagus from emptying completely. A hiatal hernia may also contribute to esophagitis, an erosion of the lining of the esophagus from excessive stomach acid and gastric enzymes, because of the over exposure of sensitive tissues to stomach acid.

Lifestyle modifications, diet and over the counter medications are generally the first line of treatment offered by healthcare providers once a diagnosis of GERD has been confirmed. However, if the acid reflux cannot be controlled by these methods prescription strength medications may be ordered. Surgical intervention is often viewed as a last resort to manage gastroesophageal reflux disease.

GERD is a disease which can cause long term damage if left untreated. There are non-invasive options available to treat and hopefully eliminate acid reflux before it has a chance to cause long lasting harm. <bio>For more important information on http://www.a-stomach-pain.com visit http://a-stomach-pain.com where you will find advice and tips on common stomach pain causes such as http://www.a-stomach-pain.com/acid-reflux.html, ulcers, and other articles </bio>
