If you're acting as the caregiver for your aging or disabled parent, then you will probably notice the small changes in your parent before anyone else. Whether it is misplacing keys or forgetting names of people and places, or more noticeable changes in your parent's personality or lifestyle, could you distinguish the signs between Alzheimer's disease and dementia? Oftentimes forgetfulness and eccentric behavior is simply blamed on growing old, but how can you be sure?

Experienced home health care workers and family members of individuals suffering from Alzheimer's can testify to the life-altering effects of the disease. Though the early stages of Alzheimer's could in fact be mistaken for dementia, or even adverse side effects of medications, the incidences of forgetfulness will increase as Alzheimer's begins to take its toll on your loved one. In the early stages, you may also observe significant changes in your parent's personality or increased moodiness.

Alzheimer's is a disease that progresses over time effecting your parent's thought and intellect functions, ranging from forgetting how to perform simple daily tasks to experiencing difficulty in communicating with others. There are also certain noticeable changes in your parent's personal hygiene and living environment that you should be aware of, not only in order to make a correct and early diagnosis, but also to ensure your parent's safety.

In the last stages of Alzheimer's, 24-hour supervision and complete care is usually required. This is especially the case if your parent becomes extremely anxious, has the mobility to wander away, or can no longer physically take care of him or herself. While a patient suffering from Alzheimer's typically lives for six to eight years from the diagnosis to death, advanced or prolong cases may range from less than two, to over 20 years.

Dementia, on the other hand, is not a disease and does not take such a toll on an individual. Dementia is defined as a significant loss of memory capacity. Although providing care to a parent with dementia may prove to be a daunting task, it is usually less involved than caregiving to an Alzheimer's care recipient.

There are several factors that can contribute to dementia. Aging is among the top factors. Dementia may also occur due to the symptoms of certain diseases or other physical illnesses. If your parent is suffering from memory loss, it's important to visit a physician for an accurate diagnosis, especially if the loss of memory is due to another underlying health issue.

Acting as a caregiver to your aging parent can certainly be overwhelming and stressful at times, especially when you're trying to determine if your parent's memory loss and mood changes are due to age-related dementia or the early signs of Alzheimer's.

There are many helpful resources and agencies that can provide you with information on how to recognize serious illness. Educating yourself as the caregiver not only provides your parent with the best care possible, but also reduces the worry and frustration you may experience as a caregiver. <bio>Dana Sanders is the author of "Becoming Your Parent's Caregiver", a downloadable manual written out of her own experience which provides advice for the children of an aging or disabled parent.
One of my biggest frustrations in life is seeing parents who do not know how to parent. I believe strongly that being a parent is one of life's greatest privileges. However, with this great privilege, like all other privileges, comes great responsibility. One of our greatest contributions to our society and to the generations that come behind us happens in the way that we parent are children. What could be more important than learning how to parent and doing it well?

You've all been there and seen it. A bowling alley late at night. Beside your lane are parents that look like kids themselves. They are enjoying beer and way too many cigarettes. You would never guess they were parents unless you saw their young children wandering around them in between frames. You know without looking at your watch that it is way too late for children that young to still be awake let alone out in public. You can't help but wonder as their parents get drunk while ignoring them what kind of life the children lead and what kind of parents they truly are.

My desire to inform people about the realities of parenting began as a scene much like the one I just described happened as I bowled with friends one night. I went home to where my children were safely in bed after having been tucked into bed with their favorite story by their father and I just had to wonder what the lives of those neglected children would be like in twenty years compared to the lives of my own children twenty years down the road. I couldn't help but think of the great role that a parent plays in the growth and development of their children.

If you are a parent, then please, please learn how to be a good parent. Take classes, read books, or get counseling. Do whatever is necessary for you to become the kind of parent that your children so desperately need in order to grow up as healthy, smart and successful people. The future of your children and even their children depend on the kind of parent you will be. Realize that raising children is one of the best privileges you could have in life. Take that privilege seriously and give your children the time, attention, and love that they need. The day you become a parent is the day that life stops being all about you. So please, if you are a parent or ever plan to be one, act like it. The whole world will be glad you did. <bio>Analeese Burnabaker is passionate about educating people on the importance of being a good parent.
Many parents may not be aware of what it takes to be an intentional parent. Of course, parenting is an ongoing process that teaches parents new things each day and leaves much more that needs to be learnt before they become a good parent. With their busy schedules, it is hard enough for them to be a good parent and intentional parenting may seem quite daunting and unattainable at first.

Not Necessarily Perfect Parenting

Intentional parenting may not be perfect parenting; instead, it refers to a parent that has mentally determined that some action or result related to parenting need to be performed. In other words, the intentional parent is an "on purpose" parent. Parents often tend to react to their children rather than have a plan that they have prepared in advance. This is a tendency that parents readily acknowledge, but do little about.

Some reasons that contribute to intentional parenting being difficult to achieve are vision, know-how and accountability. Furthermore, the biggest obstacle to intentional parenting begins in the mind -- there may not be enough time for contemplating what hangs in the balance. In other words, parents often fail to realize what can be gained and what is lost if they do not invest in their children through intentional parenting.

Lack of know-how is another challenge facing parents. Parents will often be at a loss to visualize what intentional parenting looks and feels like, and what it all about is. This means that parents' lack a plan of action and it can be compared to driving in a foreign country without a map for guidance. To get over this shortcoming, parents need to read, research, and utilize resources to get started on the road to intentional parenting. It may even necessitate changing their strategy and approach towards the child.

After developing the vision and plan of action, there is still the task of implementing the intentional parenting concept. Being accountable is a good first step in this direction because when the parent deviates from the path of intentional parenting and may be slipping, accountability will enable the parent to get back on course and escape the mistake of falling out of habit.

With all these well meaning thoughts and ideas in place, it only remains to act with energy and time which, for busy parents, seems to be always in short supply. Nevertheless, with courage one can become a good parent. Every parent should be able to muster up enough courage and take the intentional parenting path, to achieve betterment of both child and parent. <bio>Ann Merier writes articles about family health, house and garden Topics. http://parentingtips.ultimatehealthinfo.com http://stopsmokingtip.ultimatehealthinfo.com/ http://losingweight.ultimatehealthinfo.com/ </bio>

Commonly there is an expectation amongst parents of children in close knit families, particularly when a family is of humble means, that the children will grow up, gain a good education and be successful. Taking this one step further those parents of Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents expect to be able to join their children in Australia as permanent residence and eventually as Australian citizens.

Australian Migration Laws however do not allow parents of every Australian permanent resident or every foreign born Australian citizen to migrate to Australia as a permanent resident. There are a number of conditions that the parents have to fulfil or gateways that they successfully have to negotiate to migrate to Australia. Some of the more important ones are discussed below. Balance of Family Test

The andquot;balance of familyandquot; test is defined in Regulation 1.05 of the Australian Migration Regulations. Briefly, to pass this test a parent must have at least half of his or her children permanently residing in Australia (including eligible New Zealand citizens i.e. children with subclass 444 visas) OR they must have the greatest number of children permanently residing in Australia than in any other single overseas country. By way of an example, a parent who has 5 children and 3 of them live in country A and 2 of them live in Australia, that parent would not satisfy the balance of family test. However if the same parent has 1 child in country A, another child in country B and third child in country C and 2 children in Australia, that parent would satisfy the balance of family test. Further if the parent had 3 children in Australia and 2 in other countries then the balance of family test will be satisfied. If the parent had 4 children and 2 were permanently resident in Australia, the balance of family test would be satisfied.

A person is considered the child of a parent if the person is a child, adopted child or stepchild of the parent or of the spouse of the parent. A child can also be the child of a parent if the child is the child of a former spouse of the parent if that child was adopted by the parent before the parent became the former spouse i.e. while the parent was the spouse of the former spouse.

In assessing children for the balance of family test the following children are not to be considered the children of the parent:

- children who have been adopted by another person;

- a child who has been ordered by a Court to be removed from the exclusive custody of the parent;

- children who have been recognised by UNHCR as refugees and are in a refugee camp;

- children who are not able to be reunited in another country with their parents and who are resident in a country where they are subject of persecution and abuse of human rights;

- step children of a person if those children were born after their parent and a step parent separated;

- step children of a person if the children were over 18 years of age and their parent entered into a relationship with the step parent and relationship between the parent and the step parent has ended by death, separation or divorce.

Unless the andquot;balance of familyandquot; test is satisfied, there is no flexibility in succeeding in an application for an Australian permanent resident visa on the basis of being a parent of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. <bio>Frank Egan is the Chief Executive Officer of LAC Lawyers Sydney http://www.laclawyers.com.au and has over 27 years of experience as a lawyer. </bio>

Many parents are required to make payments to sustain their children's well being. This requirement is usually established after a couple ends their marriage or separates their lives. The court takes many things into considering before deciding which parent will be awarded custody of the children and also how much the non custodial parent will be required to pay to sustain the children's well being.

Once a child support case has ended and the court has made a decision on how much the non custodial parent will be required to pay, either parent can request an Ontario modification of support order. This is an option that many parents do not realize is available to them. Although it may be tough for some parents to revisit the emotions they went through in the original child support case, there can be benefits to both the children and parent in requesting an Ontario modification of support orders.

If the children are in need of special requirements that did not exist during the original child support case, the custodial parent may not be getting enough in support money to cover the costs of those needs. These needs could range from anything such as medical treatment to tutoring sessions. If the money from the original support case ruling is not enough to cover the special needs costs, the custodial parent can often request an Ontario modification of support orders. This request could end up being a big benefit to the child because whatever needs were not being met could be provided for after the request is settled. The outcome of the modification request could therefore do a great deal to increase the livelihood and well being of the child.

One benefit to the parent that is making the payments in requesting the Ontario modification of support orders occurs when they find themselves without the money to make payments. This inability to make the payments could be a result of a pay reduction, loss of a job or a variety of factors. If the parent can prove their inability to make the payments, the court may rule in their favor and reduce the amount they are required to make in support payments. Of course, the court will take many factors into account before arriving at its final decision. One outlet available to help the parent make their case to the court in situations such as this are the legal professionals of family law.

Family law can advise parents on the appropriate time to request the modification and also can help them determine if they have enough of a case to move forward with the request. Family law can also help the parents through the process because they have experience in these types of cases.

If a situation arises where a modification request would be in line, and the parent whose situation calls for a modification request feels that they can revisit the emotions felt in the original support case, there could be some major benefits to returning to court to request the modification.<bio>More information on modification of support orders in Ontario, divorce Ontario and Ontario family law in your area is just a click away.</bio>

One of the main challenges that face single parents is child care. The vast majority of single parents need to work and as a result they need to find suitable care for their child. If the child is a baby or toddler it can be a bit more difficult than a child that is of school age.

When a single parent is looking for full time child care they have several options. One is to hire a nanny. This is someone who either lives with the single parent and the child or simply spends a portion of each day in their home. This is normally the most expensive alternative when it comes to child care but for a single parent with a demanding career it can be the only choice.

Another choice in child care for the single parent is to utilize the child's grandparents or aunts and uncles. Many family members are happy to help the single parent in any way they can and that includes providing quality care. It doesn't hurt for the single parent to ask relatives about providing child care. The worst that can happen is they'll say no.

Traditional daycares also offer single parents child care. This is a great choice because it is generally very affordable and also helps the child to develop their interpersonal skills. Parents who are single often qualify for a subsidy and they can ask the daycare staff about this during the interview process. It's important to get references from the daycare staff as well as tour the facility.

If a child is older the single parent can look towards the school for child care support. Many elementary schools now have after school programs for children. These are very inexpensive and the child does not need to be transported at all. They stay at their school until the parent leaves work and can pick them up. Most schools recognize that single parents face more obstacles than their married counterparts and are happy to accommodate when the parent is running a bit late. The child does need to leave by a certain time each day though so arrangements must be made if the parent will be very late.

Older children often will ask to go over to a friend's house after school sometimes. This can also be another alternative for the single parent looking for childcare. Some children want to always go to their best friend's home after school. If this is a common occurrence than the single parent might consider contacting the parents of their child's friend and asking about paying them for childcare. Many parents welcome the extra bit of income and the company for their child after school.

If a single parent is living on a very fixed income than they may be able to receive free childcare. Many governments offer fully funded childcare programs for families living on a small income, this includes single parent families. When looking for childcare, check out this option if you are a single parent. <bio>Read more from Claire Quaty at: http://www.parents-mag.com </bio>

Child support is where the non custodial parent pays the custodial parent a certain amount of money each month for the care of the child they share. Child support is generally based on a percentage of income per each child and is intended to help offset the financial burden of the custodial parent. The non custodial parent usually pays a third party the allotted sum which is then forwarded to the custodial parent.

Child support can be paid by any parent of a child. There is no restriction on having to be married in order to pay it. It also is not bound by gender roles. Whoever does not have custody of the child pays the support. This does not have to be the father in all situations. Very often, especially these days, the father has custody of the child and the mother pays the support.

Child support laws vary from state to state. Often visitation privileges are tied to child support. A non custodial parent who is not on time on payments may forfeit their visitation rights. There may also be restrictions placed on the custodial parent as to how the money is used. Although indirect expenses such as housing are usually valid, the courts may look at other spending habits to ensure the child support is going toward the welfare of the child.

Parents who regularly do not pay child support are known as deadbeat parents. Some parents do not pay because they feel the amount of money ordered was too much and not justified. Other parents may not be able to afford the payments with their existing financial obligations. Some parents may be angry at the other parent and choose to withhold child support as a way to get even with the other parent. Regardless of the reason, not paying child support hurts the child and may also have legal implications for the parent who is not living up to their obligations.

Some states have laws that will revoke the driver's license of parents who are severely behind on payments. Other states can issue court orders to have wages automatically deducted from paychecks. Any federal or state earnings such as tax refunds or lottery winnings can be held and applied to child support payments that are in arrears.

If you are a parent who is having trouble with the child support system, it is advisable to seek assistance from an attorney who specializes in family law. Whether you are a parent who needs a reduction in child support payments or a custodial parent who needs collection assistance, an attorney can help. They are familiar with the individual laws of the state in which you reside and can advise you on the best route to take.

Child support is an important function in society to help care for a child. It is difficult for a single parent to have sole financial responsibility for the care of a child, especially if the other parent has the means and ability to help. Ensure that your rights and the rights of your child are properly cared for by pursuing child support; using the money to benefit the child; or paying child support if you are the non custodial parent. <bio>Gray Rollins is a featured writer for JustChildSupport.
Hair loss is not only restricted to people of middle age or old age, it may even strike children. Although percentage of children suffering from hair loss is comparatively very less than adults afflicted with it, an incredible number of American kids are facing trauma of untimely hair loss from scalp. And this number is increasing day by day.

Like adults even children suffer hair fall due to varied reasons. There are three or four types of probable reasons that contribute to hair loss among children. However a child's hair loss could be successfully treated provided dermatologist is successful in ascertaining the reason behind the loss.

Alopecia of kids is primary reason of hair fall in children. In United States itself around two million kids are afflicted with Alopecia. Although a good chunk of kids could be treated successfully, many kids are unable to re-grow hair and that make them live with the life time embarrassment and agony of not having hair on their scalp.

Following are the major causes responsible for hair fall among children:

1. Telogen Effluvium of kids: A severe shock, trauma and emotional distress can cause hair loss among children. Though this is usually a temporary loss of hair. Even very high fever could contribute to this type of hair loss. Although follicles prove resilient when Telogen Effluvium strikes, the follicle's efficiency to regenerate hair get affected permanently. And in the long run, it facilitates permanent hair loss with aging.

2. Trichotillomania of kids: Well, this condition results in partial hair loss. This type of hair loss is unevenly spread over the scalp. It may also affect eye brows. The disease is defined as constant urge of kids to pull their own hair. This habit is usually an outcome of fear psychosis. So the root cause of problem needs to be addressed to cure Trichotillomania.

3. Tinea Capitis- The disease is also known as ringworm of scalps. This fungus propelled hair fall complication is a major contributor of hair loss among kids. It's a transmissible disease. Kids suffer from this type of hair loss but hardly realize that their scalp is afflicted with this fungus. Till the time parents notice it, the damage to follicles is already done. However this type of hair fall is curable and kids below ten must be saved against it.

4. Traction Alopecia of kids: Kids happen to be very careless and negligent towards hair and they put hair to various types of physical damage that could be a cause of hair fall among kids.

These are some important hair loss complications in kids. As a parent, it's your duty to provide your kids with enough hair safety so that they could not suffer hair loss. <bio>The author writes about a number of different topics.
It's a typical morning at a children's daycare center, a mom dropping off her child and trying to leave without the child being upset. But the fact of the matter is that every child has difficulty separating from their own mother. If you think about it it's so very natural for the child to be upset that their mom is leaving their side and instructing them to have a good day and play with their friends. Mothers and let's not keep out Dad's are the light of a child's life, there whole world focuses on the parent and many times nothing else exists. And when that parent leaves the child many times feel's extremely upset.

Now, I'm not trying to say that all children are like this, they are not. But many are and it's the daycare providers duty to bridge the gap between parent and child. So how is this done you wonder? Here are 3 ways that you can bridge the gap between mom and child.

1. Realize that the parent must believe that you are trustworthy and competent in taking care of their child and others. With out this the parent will not trust you and feel that you are not able in taking care of multiple children. This whole idea stems down to professionalism (which is a whole other topic). Showing up to check in your children in pj's and bed head is a bad way to present yourself. Looking surprised that a child is arriving for childcare is another poor way of representing yourself, you want parents to know that you are waiting for them. Present yourself as a professional person and you will be respected for the work that you do.

2. Realize that some children are angry that their parent is going to work and dropping them off. Often times you will notice that once the parent leaves the daycare the child stops crying. Most parents realize this and few are upset and often times this is only temporary.

3. Always reassure the parent that they are making a good decision by choosing you for a daycare provider and that their child's sad feelings will pass. Be sure to call the parent during the course of the day to let them know that their child is having a good day. Give a small gift for the child for their first day at childcare, reassure the parent that they made a good choice.

A parents guilty feelings are usually at their greatest during the first few weeks of starting a new childcare. Once a child as started care they will soon realize that they are in a wonderful place and there is nothing to be worried about, and that goes for parent and child.

© 2006 CG Groth <bio>The "Daycare Queen", Christine G.
Hair Loss In Men And Women Alike! Hair loss can happen to both men and women at almost any age. Many men experience a receding hairline during their early twenties and women begin to notice a thinning right behind their hairline from a very early age as well. Most people begin to see dramatic hair loss during their middle age years and become desperate to find an effective hair loss treatment. There are many different opinions on whether or not there are actually products that can reverse hair loss. Most will agree that hair loss prevention is more likely to be possible, but an effective hair loss treatment is something that has many skeptics and few optimists.

Genetic Hair Loss In the case of losing hair based on genes, there may not be much that men or women can do in the way of prevention. Chances are that if a parent or close relative, or many close relatives, suffer from hair loss, these individuals with also have hair loss caused by heredity. In these instances, hair loss acts like a genetic based disease or trait that carries itself in DNA. However, not all hair loss is heredity based. In fact, some individuals may experience hair loss, while their parents and close relatives have not. Usually, this means that another factor is causing the hair loss, like high stress or poor nutrition.

Is Hair Loss Due To Genes Permanent? If your hair loss is due to genetics, which is most often the case, your hair loss is likely permanent. But that doesn't mean you don't have any options. You have a number of them to consider. Hair transplants are getting more popular because of the advancements made with the technology. In the past, hair plugs were used and they looked unnatural and didn't do a great job filling in the hair. Today, hair transplant surgery is extremely good at creating a natural head of hair that is full. If you aren't up for surgery, you can choose non surgical procedures such as hair weaves. This is where natural or synthetic hair is woven in with your own creating the appearance of a full head of hair.

What Is Sudden Hair Loss? Sudden hair loss is also noticed in the postpartum period of pregnant women. This is mainly due to the sudden withdrawal of hormones after giving birth to a child. Hair stays in the growing phase during pregnancy. This kind of sudden hair loss will get cured automatically without any treatment. Excess combing or brushing may be avoided to prevent excessive loss of hair.

Choosing The Right Hair Loss Remedy Overall, choosing a hair loss remedy depends on the circumstances. After figuring out the cause of the hair loss, the persons may then research the available treatments. From there, these individuals may choose a remedy, or remedies, that best will work best. Even if the chosen remedy does not work, there are other options that may work. It takes a little time, research, experimenting, and patience to find a proficient hair loss remedy that prevents and treats damaged hair, or that re-grows/replaces previously lost hair. <bio>High levels of http://www.hairlossfact.info has been known to cause some thinning hair, but it is usually temporary.
Few things are as tragic or traumatic as a divorce--especially for any school-aged children who may be involved. It is almost a given that despite the best intentions of the parents to keep everything civil, children will still generally choose sides and ultimately decide who they believe caused the divorce. For this parent, reconciliation can seem like an unending nightmare. In many cases, the scars caused by a divorce will linger on in a family for generations to come. While many families choose the "let's not talk about the divorce" strategy, few children can accept such a closed-minded answer.

Few divorces begin mutually. There is usually one spouse who files for divorce first and ends up hurting the feelings of the other in the process. It is common for children to identify with the parent who was served papers, especially if they are perceived as an innocent victim or at least as the parent who was trying to make the marriage work. Many children will blame the parent who filed for divorce even when it was actually the better thing to do--for all involved.

It is also common for the children of a divorce to have more sympathy and respect for the parent who has primary custody. This parent is generally perceived as the one who must work a job PLUS take care of the children while the other parent only has to send a check and maybe spend some time with them on the weekends. If deliberate steps are not immediately taken to establish a relationship with the children after the divorce has been finalized.

The primary problem is one of trust. The child often feels betrayed by the parent who, in their mind, caused the family to split up. The only way to reestablish this trust is to make sure to be completely honest when they ask questions and to make sure that all commitments are honored--in other words, the child now wants, or rather expects, the offending parent to now treat them with the respect that they did not receive prior to the divorce.

A divorce does not always have to have a good and a bad parent. It is possible that the family can survive a divorce without completely breaking apart at the seams. When children are involved, it is important to reestablish trust with them by being completely honest and fulfilling all commitments made to them. Only by treating children with respect and giving them a voice in family affairs will there still be a family after a divorce. <bio>Jesse Taylor helps you and your family locate the best and most up to date information about http://www.SocietyInGeneral.com.
This is a very difficult subject. Learning how to discipline your child is a really important skill that parent must learn. Discipline isn't punishment at all; it has to do more with teaching respect for the rights of others, teaching right from wrong.

The children and their parents are really varied personalities themselves. Parents can often have an unpleasant feeling when they need to repeat themselves, fight their own children to convince them to follow some instructions or rules, or behave appropriately. There are some techniques that can be applied, regardless of the differences in individual personalities and behaviors.

That technique can help to get through the difficult moments, establish the parent's authority and boundaries that are necessary for a successful parent-child relationship. While no technique is necessary in itself, successful discipline can be realized combining several methods and techniques, that can work for your family.

One method is called 1-2-3 magic. The child will be empowered to make the right choice after setting boundaries, and establishing authority. I found some other great parent related material at http://www.massreleases.com. This method can be applied in the classrooms to maintain the appropriate behaviors from the students, but also it can be effective at home.

When a teacher or parent gives the child an instruction and the child refuses, the parent may say: that's one; there will be a time-out (or other consequence, which depends on the severity of the student's or child's action). The child has the opportunity the make the right choice, but if he still refuses to have the normal behavior, he will have a new answer: that's two.

The teacher or parent can repeat the instruction or wait some more minutes. If the child follows the correct instruction, the problem has been solved; if not, the parent or teacher says: that's three! Now he will follows the consequences announced at the counting start.

This method can't be used in the case of a child hurting another person, or hitting someone. If the child is saying something totally inappropriate he must be stopped immediately. This is the case when the child goes directly to the final solution.

This method is useful for the teachers or adults tired to repeat themselves and must yell to their children or students to follow some instruction. Counting will replace yelling, is as simple as that.

The consequences must be rigorously followed, whether it is a time-out or removing a privilege. The consequence will be determinate by the child's age. It can be the loss of allowance, removal of television privileges, early bedtimes, additional chores, and so on.

He parent or teacher must be unemotional when he is administrating the consequence, and even when doing the counting itself. Only in these conditions the discipline method can be effective. If the parent will react emotionally during the counting or when they are apply the consequences, the child will repeat his bed behavior, he will be encouraged.

The parents' calm attitude will stop the children in their attempts; they will lose the feeling of power over their parents' emotional state of mind.

The 1-2-3 method can be useful to establish the parents or teachers authority. This method can also preserve the parents' dignity. The pediatrician advice is always useful. <bio>Homer enjoys writing part time for: http://www.detailedpregnancy.com http://www.thecraftyfinger.com </bio>

There are many times when a single parent plans to go out on a date and a juggling act begins that will eventually make the date impossible to go on at times. Some single parents can not find someone to baby-sit with an infant when an invitation to go out is received on the spur of the moment. The juggling act might be solved if the date agreed to allow the baby to go with them.

A single parent who has planned a date for weeks will be certainly disgruntled to find out that the person that was hired to sit with a child earlier in the week is suddenly unable to make it over to the house in time to do any good. Some babysitters are really lax in their duties and might cause a single parent to go in to a tailspin when they tell them they will not be able to baby-sit at all.

The single parent might have to juggle the cellular telephone in one hand while comforting a small child in the other while they call various neighbors on the street to see if anyone would care to watch the little one while she went on a date with a very nice gentleman. The neighbors might help out in a pinch at times but after it happens several times in one month, they are liable to hang the phone up with no reply.

When this occurs a single parent still has a few options to consider if she really wants to go out on that date. If they have been dating different men for a while, the single parent has probably constructed a list of suitable people who have agreed to baby-sit on an as needed basis. These people might know the children very well because the grandparents are probably the people that the single parent has at the top of the list.

With a quick call and a little orchestration, the juggling act will start again when the grandparents give the go ahead. Then the single parent has to be on her toes and have her energy levels high because she not only has to prepare overnight bags that they filled very hastily with formula, finger foods or a bottle or two but she also has to get dressed and load the children into the car seats in the car and get back home before the date knocks on the front door.

Some single parents have to stop the juggling act at times because their nerves are flat raw. They might suggest to the date that they have dinner at home and watch a rented movie on the television screen in the cozy living room. The single parent might get a chance to relax and get to know the person that they are dating, and he might never be privy to the juggling act she went through to make the date go off on schedule. <bio>Linda Polansky writes about http://www.digitaldiscountcodes.com </bio>

Often this isn't the case and it isn't perfect, though it's wise to do the best to make it work for the children.

When it comes to parenting in any situation, it's the children that are the most important factor. Bringing them up safely, learning good values, with the eventual goal that they will stand well on their own, where they still have a close family that remains. The most important role in society is taking care of the future; the children that will some day take over.

Seldom does anyone simply choose step parenting in life. It's often something you come across. Whether you come into the relationship with your own children, or they do; or maybe both of you... The most important thing is all children involved have to be considered at this point. If that won't work, it's best to avoid being step parents as the only ones to lose are the future.

If you choose to move along, you need to consider the effects of merging families. This is what you are doing, and with that you need to bring the situation to a level that works fairly with all children involved. Much consideration and discussion needs to happen for the step parent(s) to be able to know they are stepping into a situation that is already set. You can't just change the children's world. Rather, they need to continue forward; positively! When bringing two families together the discussion needs to be deeper yet so that the benefits are equal across the board.

Step parents need to fit into all the children's lives in a fair and even manner that works with all of them. Any other situation without balance will likely bring failures that can be devastating to some if not all the children. This is unacceptable.

Now with that said, step parents can help fill a gap that has traditionally been enjoyed by many children; the benefit of two parents. This is especially so when the step parent is willing to take the time to care, do their best to help raise the children; in fact more or less care for them as much as the missing parent would (or should) do.

Another aspect of step parenting that all involved should have an understanding is why the missing parent(s) aren't there. This might be the subject of future strife, as well as a lot of questions from the children. There needs to be a strong and unified understanding on this ground to be able to keep altogether if the children really want more answers, or if the absent parties show up with demands.

That's another area that can be unique to step parenting; the point where you might have to step aside disregarding your own feelings, simply because the children need better contact with the previously missing parent. You might have to find a balance in a very imbalanced situation. But you must for the children's sake.

The best way to be sure where your parenting and step parenting go, is after it has happened over time. But you need to be sure it's got a strong chance of succeeding before it even begins. What's risked otherwise can hurt generations to come... <bio>Find out more about step parenting at http://best-parenting.com/step_parenting.php plus lots of other useful information about parenting your children. </bio>

Not too long ago, single parents were almost ostracized from the community. However, today it is very common for both men and women to be raising children either full time or part time.

People can become single parents in many ways. First, a man or woman might become a single parent by choice. They might adopt a child on their own or a woman might become pregnant through donor insemination. Second, some people become single parents after the death of their spouse. Finally, most people become single parents as a result of a divorce.

Single parent dating might work best when both people have children. However, it is often the case where one person will have children when the other doesn't.

So what should you know about dating if you are the single parent? First, realize that it is ok for you to be dating. You will be a better parent if you are happy and fulfilled in your own life outside of your children. Dating with children brings on additional challenges though. You will need to find a babysitter that you trust to watch your children. It is important that you tell your date upfront that you have children, as some people do not want to be in a relationship where there are children involved. It might be disheartening to lose a potential date because of your kids, but it is better to know that up front rather than be broken up with later because you are a parent. Make sure that you are comfortable with the person you are dating...very comfortable...before you let them meet your children. Children can become attached to someone quickly and if your relationship is not serious, your children probably shouldn't be meeting the person.

If you are dating a single parent, remember that your partner's children will always come first. If you try to demand a choice between you and the kids, you are likely to end up alone. Be sensitive to situations with the children that require plans to be changed or cancelled. A single parent has a lot on his or her plate and can't help it if a child gets ill. Be sensitive to the fact that your partner is possibly not used to co-parenting. Don't discipline your date's children without first talking to your date.

Although there are some things that must be kept in mind when you are involved in single parent dating, it doesn't mean anyone should shy away from it. People become single parents for all sorts of reasons and you might find the love of your life, plus fall in love with a child as well. <bio>Ron Zvagelsky has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
People lose hair for various reasons. Illness and medication, like chemotherapy to treat cancer, can cause hair loss. Hair loss can also be inherited from a parent. Often, hair thins because it is fine-textured, or because too many harsh chemicals have been used on it, so it breaks easily.

What if I have hormonal hair loss? The following photos show typical female hormonal hair loss patterns. Typical female baldness begins with a generalized thinning of the whole scalp. Contrary to male pattern baldness is that no receding hairlines or hair loss on the crown takes place.

A generalized thinning of the hair occurs. It is seldom that a man displays the same type of hair loss pattern as a woman

The thickened hair root prevents the hair bulb from returning back to its place in the skin. Because of this, new hair will be produced, but will not be able to settle. The growth phase will then be disrupted and the hair bulb will continuously produce new hair, which, instead of lasting the normal five years, will only become a few weeks or months old. Now you have constant hair loss!

Personally, I prefer products by L'Oreal, such as Excellence. It's easy on the hair. It never made my hair feel any thinner and adding some auburn highlights to my brown hair always makes me feel like a new person. Because my hair is fine, I never use the enclosed conditioners with hair color products. Hair conditioners often make fine hair feel thinner and unmanageable. On the other hand, if you do want to use some conditioner, use only a fraction of what's recommended! And never use conditioners on your scalp, just put some at the hair ends.

Another great product that I highly recommend is Rogaine. Rogaine has gained a reputation of being able to reverse the hair thinning process!

Bottom line: While we're feeling the way we do during the menopausal years, I think it's important to try anything to help ourselves feel and look better.

Now that you know a little more about what are the causes for hair loss, we urge you to find out more about how hair loss, or hair thinning can be prevented! Yes, it is true, there are many effective products on the market right now which has been proven to be truly effective in reversing thinning hair problems! Come! Parents also deal with the challenge of helping hteir children grow. This can become even more difficult if it is a single parent raising the children.

A single parent that is raising their children often receives Ontario child support from the other parent that does not have custody. The single parenthood could be the result of a divorce, or any other variety of reasons. It the situation came about from a divorce, there was likely a child custody battle involved to determine which parent would be awarded child custody. After that part of the divorce was settled, the parents likely went through the Ontario child support battle to determine how much the non custodial parent would be required to pay.

When determining how much the parent that does not have child custody will have to pay, the court will take many factors into account. These factors can include the non custodial parent's financial standing and how much income they have at the time the case it carried on. The court will also likely look at the needs of the children and how much money is required to sustain their well being. The court will also likely take into account if the children have any special needs that would require extreme money.

There are many reasons why Ontario child support is paid. Raising children can be very expensive, especially for single parents that have child custody. One reason why Ontario child support is paid is to help cover the cost that the single parent will need to care for the children. This helps lessen the burden the parent may feel for trying to earn enough money to raise the children on their own. If the custodial parent was not receiving support payments, many would have to find second or third jobs just to maintain their quality of life and care for their children.

Ontario child support is also often required of the non custodial parent because they are not directly caring for the children on a day to day basis, so the monetary sustenance is a substitute of sorts.

If either parent's situation changes after the original support ruling is made, they have the option to request a modification of support orders. The modification of support orders can change the amount of support payments that is required. These requests are often made if the custodial parent is unable to fully care for the children's well being with the amount of payments they are currently receiving or if they know that the non custodial parent has received an increased income. These requests also come sometimes because the children develop special needs that require additional funding. The modification of support orders is also made by the non custodial parents sometimes if they lose their job or are in some other way unable to continue making the amount of payments from the original ruling.<bio>More information on child custody in Ontario, divorce Ontario and Ontario family law in your area is just a click away.</bio>

The thought of dating again after losing a loved one is very difficult and sometimes it can take a person several years before they can even consider it. The thought of dating again is hard because there are a lot of emotions involved and it may take many years before a person can recover enough from the loss of their loved one to go out on one date. Before they do, they think they must heal completely emotionally.

Getting over the death of a loved one will often require long term counseling. The thought of dating someone else will be a very sad thought and much too painful to consider replacing them with someone else. The though of dating might scare many widowers and some might experience stress at a very high level. This type of stress has been known to cause heart attacks and stroke.

While the widower may not want to spend the rest of their life alone, they also think about the one they lost and think that nobody can replace them. Getting into a bad relationship would not be good for them and if they date someone younger than they are then they will probably think that it will look out of place or stupid to others in the widower's age group.

Often in widower dating circles, there are children involved that just lost a parent. The children might have a definite attitude about their parent dating and that feeling will be negative. There are many different reasons for these feelings. They might fear losing the only parent they have if they are out of their sight for very long. Some kids might not understand that dating does not mean that you are trying to replace the parent that is lost.

Widow dating can make some children jealous and feel like they are not being given the amount of love that they deserve. They might feel that the love they need is being given to someone else that they feel does not deserve it. Some widowers think that some women date them for their life savings. The doubts in the widower dating process go full circle and will continue to exist until the widower gets some counseling to handle all of the doubts.

Sometimes a widower will start dating too soon after losing someone. Perhaps they miss the meals being on the table at a certain time, or miss taking long walks after dinner and hearing some stimulating conversation. Many widowers miss holding hands and sitting on the porch and they just need somebody in their life to fill in the empty spots. Whatever the reason that the widower is dating, they can tell deep down inside them that it is too early to be going out and many will feel lost for some time. <bio>James Brown writes about http://www.onlinepromotioncodes.com </bio>

The first day of school is never easy especially for young preschoolers. It is a period of adjustment for both parent and child. At this time, the parent is responsible for making it easier for the child to adjust in the new environment and accept the new situation of his or her daily life.

Here are some childcare tips on how a parent can help his or her child adjust on the first day.

•	Choose the childcare centre that caters to children's needs and will help develop their intellectual, physical and emotional abilities. Visit the centre and observe classes to know how educators or childcare providers handle children.

•	Explain the situation. A child needs to understand that the childcare centre is for his or her benefit.
•	It is significant that trust is built between the parent and the child. The child must understand and feel that his or her parents are not choosing childcare to abandon him or her but rather to create an environment for new learning.

•	Be enthusiastic when talking about the childcare centre. Children are most happy when they have playmates. But for some, they fear a large environment. The parent must know what his or her child prefers. This would also help the parent choose the right childcare centre.

•	Arrange a visit to the childcare centre days before the first day. Show the child his or her classroom. A parent may also introduce the child to the teacher or some classmates to establish a bond.

•	Prepare a daily routine and explain it to the child. The schedule should reflect time for waking up, dropping off and picking up from the centre and bedtime.

•	Have a reliable communication with the childcare provider to share the child's daily activities.

•	On the actual first day, it is important for the parent to be with the child during the first few hours. In some cases, a child prefers that his or her parent stays until the session is finished. Let the child know the time for the parent to leave. It is not recommended that a parent leave once he or she feels that the child is enjoying the class. This would result to distrust and the child would be more anxious to go to the centre on the next days.

•	Never forced a child to immediately bond with classmates or teacher. Be prepared for situations when the child just sit and watch. This is the child's way of observing his or her surroundings.

•	Be punctual on pickup time. A child would appreciate more if he or she sees his or parents once he or she goes out of the classroom. Punctuality provides security for the child. Take the extra time to talk to the childcare provider or teacher.

•	On the way home, ask about his or her first day. It is important for a child to know that his or her parent is interested on how the day goes.

•	Praise the child for a successful and happy first day. Praise feeds the emotional needs of children. This would let the child know that he or she has done well and taken the first steps to being responsible.<bio>Grunty's day care nursery is a long established Nursery School based in Blackpool.
