I am the mother of a five-year-old American boy who occasionally watches television. This means that we are now members of the Power Ranger Cult. I admit when I was first exposed to these multi-colored heroes I was more than a little disdainful. I did much to dissuade my son from his attachment, but it was pretty difficult to counteract the spell of the warrior-teens, their paleontologist leader, and dinosaur helpers. As time went on, new generations of Power Rangers came into being and I learned more about the long history of Power Rangers. I came to see that they are actually a good influence on my son's life -- and mine as well. Here are ten ways that the Power Rangers have provided positive role models for both my son and me.

First, the Power Rangers teach their young audience how to be a good person. The shows consistently demonstrate the teens helping others. They are heroes so they fight a range of villains and evil forces while in full Power Ranger mode. However the youths also help out children, the homeless, and other needy folks while not powered up in ranger form.

Power Rangers are also all about respect. Sometimes they learn the hard way to be more respectful but by and large they are respectful of their elders, each other, and other humans, life forms, and places. In a world where so many people seem to have lost the habit of respect it is always refreshing to see it exemplified by a popular media form.

Fans can also learn a lot about friendship from the Power Rangers. Many story lines deal with the problems and challenges faced by friends. These stories teach children that friendship and love can cross any boundary from gender to race to age.

Loyalty is another important value that the Power Rangers exemplify. The heroes are loyal to each other as well as their values. Many story lines emphasize lessons based on this important trait.

Perseverance can also be learned from the Power Rangers as they face many struggles and challenges to master their skills and powers as well as overcome their foes. Many times they face seeming insurmountable obstacles but Power Rangers don't give up.

They also demonstrate that determination and hard word are keys to success. Despite having super powers (or magic) and some pretty nifty tools, gadgets and assistants, nothing ever comes easy to the Power Rangers. They always win in the end but sometimes have to pay a pretty steep price for success.

Flexibility is another Power Ranger trait. Effective Rangers are flexible and adapt to changing circumstances, challenges, abilities, and allies. The ability to adapt and change is also key to success in real life so this is a good lesson that can benefit us all.

Learning is also a priority for the Power Rangers. They place great value on their education and training, not only as Rangers, but also as people. They recognize the knowledge is power and can be one of the greatest weapons anyone possesses.

Taking care of yourself physically and emotionally is also an important Ranger lesson. The rangers recognize they are more powerful and more effective if they are in top form both physically and emotionally.

And last, but certainly not least, the Power Rangers teach us all how to be a hero. They regularly give of themselves for the greater good and I can only hope that as more and more children are influenced by the Power Rangers that we will then have more and more heroes among us.

While I don't advocate buying into the vast franchise system powered by the rangers, although I must admit we have everything from jockey shorts and costumes to toys and DVDs in our home, you might want to check out a few shows and judge for yourself. There is a lot that children, and adults, can learn from the Power Rangers. <bio>Deanna Mascle shares more inspiration, motivational and thought-inspiring articles with her blog at http://JustFolks.net </bio>

When you hear the word rangers, the first thing that comes to your mind is the people responsible for keeping everyone safe back in the days. The rangers have played a significant role in the history of Texas. Stephen Austin formed the rangers in 1823. It temporarily ended after the Civil War. However, it lived again shortly after the reconstruction era. From 1935, they became part of the Texas Department of Public safety.

Another famous Texas Rangers is the major league baseball team in Arlington, Texas. The team became a part of the American League in 1961. They were formally known as the as the Washington Senators. The team is different from the original Washington Senators who moved to Minnesota. They are an expansion team since the first Washington team just changed their name to Minnesota Twins and not their stat. They became the Rangers after they transferred at Arlington in 1972.

Replacing the first Washington team was a challenge. The team had difficulty because of mismanagement. The owners experienced financial losses in their first few years of inception. Bob Short bought the team from James Lemon who also became the general manager of the team. Short hired a Hall of Famer in the person of Ted Williams.

Williams managed to make improvements in the performance of the team. However, business got in the way. Financial problems led to the trading of valuable players to other teams. Because of this, the winning season that Williams tried to managed eventually stopped. After the approval of the American League, the team moved to Texas. Leaving Washington was not easy though. Fans were furious about the decision.

When they moved to Texas, the team officially became the Rangers. It took a while before they have fully adjusted to their new home. Billy Martin managed the team. In 1974, he received the Manager of the year award after leading the team to second place, behind the Oakland Athletics who won the World Series that year.

The league recognized several players of the Texas Rangers that year too. Their first baseman Mike Hargrove won the Rookie of the year award. Jeff Burroughs won the Most Valuable Player award as well. In addition, Hall of Famer, Ferguson Jenkins received the Comeback Player of the Year.
However, this did not last. The ensuing year was nowhere near their 1974 season. This led to the firing of Martin.

The team will not have a winning season until 1977 to 1979. After that, they went to winning hiatus again. They would only experience their next winning season in 1986. However, it was in the late nineties that they would experience the prime of their team. It was not enough to give them the stature they want though.

The Rangers are one of the least successful teams in the American League. Their highest achievement would be their three West Division titles in 1996, 1998, and 1999. They have not won an American League pennant. Consequently, they have never appeared in the World Series as well.<bio>Rick Grantham is an expert on sports equipment, specially on Texas Rangers Merchandise for more information on Major League Baseball Logo Merchandise, visit BooYah Village.</bio>

Although the teams are still bunched up a bit, baseball tickets are still a relevant item in the cities of the AL West. Only 6.5 games separate first place from last, but form is beginning to take hold, and unless someone either goes extremely hot or very cold, this race is going to come down to the finish.

Oakland A's

Currently: The A's are beginning to play with some consistency, and they went 15-11 over the past 30 days, maintaining their hold on the division lead. Although there's no one dominant player on this typically-balanced A's team, Frank Thomas is quietly having a great comeback season. Barry Zito has been his reliable self in 2006.

Outlook: The A's are a solid team that may not be prone to ripping off 13 straight wins, but they're built to battle, and most likely won't swoon. They'll be right there until the end.

Los Angeles Angels

Currently: The Angels appear to be making a charge towards the postseason, and their last 30 days would bear this out. They had an eight-game winning streak interrupted by the All Star break, but still posted a nice 17-9 record over the past 30 days. Their offense is all about one superstar - Vladimir Guerrero. He's one of the most feared hitters in the AL, and as long as he's right, the Angels are a threat.

Outlook: This team has the talent to accomplish big things, and if they keep this momentum, don't be surprised to see them take the division.

Texas Rangers

Currently: The Rangers had another mediocre month, and this cost them in the standings. They went only 13-14, which included a six-game losing streak and a stretch where they lost seven of eight games. Baseball tickets did become a hotter item recently, though, as the Rangers acquired slugger Carlos Lee from the Brewers, adding some much-needed power to their lineup.

Outlook: If the Rangers get a boost from Lee, this is a team that could climb back into the race.

Seattle Mariners

Currently: The Mariners had another mediocre month, going 11-13 over the past 30 days. They now find themselves in the cellar, and although they're only 6.5 games out as of this writing, they need to have a strong month to keep pace with the teams above them. They have the team to turn it around, as Ichiro Suzuki is one of the biggest pests to opposing pitching in recent baseball history.

Outlook: The Mariners, like the Rangers, need to turn it on now, or baseball tickets will become an afterthought in the Great Northwest. <bio>By Jay Nault sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/ .
Although there was a shakeup at the top of the AL West standings during the past 30 days, this is a race that may be too close to call up until and including the final days of the 2006 season. Only four games separate first place from last, and none of the AL West teams have put together that "big streak" and sustained it.

Oakland A's

Currently: The A's took over the top spot in the division during the past few weeks, going 17-10 in the past 30 days. They started the month on a big-time hot streak, winning 10 games in a row, but have cooled off since, losing eight of their last 13. Nick Swisher continues to put up power numbers, but none of the regulars are hitting close to .300 on the season. This team is getting by with pitching, and Barry Zito has rounded into form.

Outlook: If the A's can find some offense, they are situated for a run to the title.

Texas Rangers

Currently: The Rangers stumbled this month, posting only a 12-15 record to fall one game behind the A's as of this writing. Most of the damage was done by the NL teams on their schedule, as the Rangers lost nine of their last 12 interleague games. Gary Matthews, Jr. and Michael Young continued their strong seasons, but the rest of the bats have gone a bit silent lately.

Outlook: The Rangers simply lack consistency. When they get a strong pitching performance, it seems as though they fail to score runs, and vice versa. If they find their groove, they're as in it as anyone else.

Seattle Mariners

Currently: It was a typically streaky month for the Mariners, who wound up going 14-11 during the past month. The Mariners started the month hot, winning eight of 11 games and enjoying a five-game winning streak, but they are now mired in a five-game losing skid. The team continues to be led by their most consistent performer in Ichiro. Jamie Moyer is pitching well overall, but is having tough luck with run support.

Outlook: The Mariners need to find the same "Fountain of Consistency" as the Rangers. They're right in the thick of the race, but they need to string together a long streak of solid performances.

Los Angeles Angels

Currently: Although the Angels are currently in last place, they're only four games out. The streakiness in the AL West seems to have spread to the Angels, as they arrived at a 14-13 record over the past month after enduring two three-game losing streaks and enjoying a five-game winning streak. The Angels have also won six of their past seven. One new bright spot is pitcher Jered Weaver, who is 5-0 with a 1.35 ERA since coming up from the minors.

Outlook: No one in this division is out of it by any means. If the Angels can find some consistency and Weaver can keep his form, this team can make a run. <bio>By Jay Nault sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/ StubHub sells baseball tickets: http://www.stubhub.com/mlb-tickets/ concert tickets, theater tickets and more.
Baseball tickets for AL West games are gaining in demand as the teams in the division begin to make their final pushes for a spot in the postseason. Overall, it appears, for now, that the A's have taken control, but the Angels are not out of it yet. However, time is growing short, so anyone with plans to make a surge towards a playoff birth needs to start doing so now.

Oakland A's

Currently:

Speaking of surges, the A's have been doing just that over the past 30 days. The team posted a record of 19-8 over the past 30 days, and their team-building model is paying off yet again. They got a bargain in Frank Thomas, who's mashing the ball like the "Big Hurt" of old and supplying punch to a lineup that has lacked power in recent years.

Outlook:

There's no reason to think the A's will crash as long as consistent arms like Barry Zito continue to produce on the mound, but stranger things have happened.

Los Angeles Angels

Currently:

Although it's getting late, the Angels can still challenge for the division. Although they had a pretty good month, going 17-11, they still lost ground to the red-hot A's. However, they have two series remaining against them, if the Angels can stay within shouting distance the title could come down to those games.

Outlook:

As long as Vladimir Guerrero keeps doing his thing and Jered Weaver keeps adding spice to the pitching staff, this team will not bow out until the final weekend, if at all.

Texas Rangers

Currently:

The Rangers are apparently out of it, as they are currently nine games behind the A's, and that's just too big a deficit to make up in 20 games. It's too bad, too, as the Rangers have been getting better, posting a 16-12 mark over the past 30 days.

Outlook:

The Rangers have the firepower to compete with anyone, particularly if they can re-sign Carlos Lee, but they need to add pitching to put them over the top in 2007.

Seattle Mariners

Currently:

The Mariners have had a disappointing season, and their biggest fault was exposed during their 11-game losing streak on their way to a 12-16 record over the past 30 days: pitching. The staff has been consistently lit up, and no team can survive on a steady diet of 7-6 games.

Outlook:

With Ichiro Suzuki and Felix Hernandez onboard, this team could contend if they get more pitching prospects for 2007. If that happens, baseball tickets will be a hot item next season. <bio>By Jay Nault, sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/.
There are so many types of tree stands that are made for different applications it may be confusing to a beginner. Every question from When do I need a tripod stand? What manufacturer or model do I need most? Is a loc-on stand better than a ladder stand? Maybe I should build my own stand? Where can I get the plans? Lets take a more closer look into tree stands and about these great pieces of bowhunting equipment.

Summit 2005 Bullet Back Packer Climbing Tree Stan

The first tree stand we will look at is the Summit 2005 Bullet Back Packer Climbing Tree Stand. These tree stands are high quality bowhunting equipment. This stand folds flat, making it easy to move to any place you need it. A padded seat and Ergo Arms make this stand comfortable enough for hours of use. When climbing, Rapid Climb stirrup bars actually secure the platform to your boots.

Summit Copperhead Hang On Tree Stand

Another top-notch piece of bowhunting equipment from Summit is the Copperhead Hang On Tree Stand. It is compact, light and easy to move around with backpack straps included. This stand has a quiet strap and receiver and folds flat for easy transport. Next is the Summit Deer Deck Hang On Tree Stand. The platform measures 29 inches long by 24 inches long, which helps when you're about 20 feet high in a tree. To keep you safe and secure, the stand has two high strength ratchet straps and a two post backbone. To make sure you can stay in the stand for a longer amount of time, it has a 18 by 12 inch padded seat.

Lone Wolf Alpha 16 Ladder Tree Stand

Here are some more makers of quality bowhunting equipment. First is the Lone Wolf Alpha 16 Ladder Tree Stand. Able to go up to 16 feet high, a platform measuring 30x19.5 and legs that are individually adjustable to conform better to ground that is not even. Now let's look at the Lone Wolf Elite Hang On Portable Tree Stand. This has a foam seat cushion, a very large one piece platform of cast aluminum and a big sized cast seat.
The AL West is shaping up as a division that will come down to the wire. Every team is lumped together in the standings, as the separation between first and last place as of this writing is only 5.5 games. None of the teams have been extremely hot lately, and everyone sits near .500 for the season. As of now, this race is way too early to call, and this will probably be the case throughout the season. It's going to be a very interesting season in this division.

Texas Rangers

Currently: The Rangers are slowly but surely building a solid team that appears to be geared to contend for the long-term. So far this season, the team has made its mark with consistent hitting. The Rangers rank 3rd in the AL in team BA and in total hits, and their nucleus of Michael Young, Hank Blalock and Gary Matthews, Jr. are all in the prime of their careers. The Rangers are "gnats" in regards to their offense, though, as they rank in the bottom half of the AL in power numbers. Their pitching has been solid if not spectacular, as they rank in the middle of the pack in the AL in nearly every statistical category.

Outlook: The Rangers are a team that appears to be built against long-term slumps, as they tend to manufacture runs rather than rely on power, and their pitching may get an enormous boost if they can land the "big" free agent that's available in Roger Clemens. The Rangers will be around all season.

Oakland A's

Currently: The team credited with inventing the "Money Ball" model is going about the 2006 season in much the same way as they have in recent years. There are no real "stars" on this team, as not one of their regulars is hitting over .300. The closest thing to it is young LF Nick Swisher, who is in the top ten in the AL in HR, R, OPS, RBI and SLG. On the pitching side, no one is dominating either, although collectively, the staff ranks 4th in the AL in ERA.

Outlook: Regardless of the dearth of "sexy" statistics, the A's simply hang in there with overachieving young players and consistently solid pitching and defense. There is no reason to think that their approach, or results, will change, so A's fans can look forward to another pennant race this fall.

Seattle Mariners

Currently: The Mariners are just below .500, and even though that's mediocre on its face, the team is slowly rebounding from a disappointing 2005. Their offense as a whole is not setting the world on fire, but Ichiro Suzuki is up to his old tricks with 57 hits in his first 45 games and a .367 OBP. A young star may be developing before fans' eyes, though in 22-year-old Jose Lopez, who is nearly keeping pace with Ichiro in terms of number of hits and BA. The pitching overall has been middle of the pack, but the staff is 5th in the AL in BAA and 3rd in K/9.

Outlook: If the Mariners can continue to develop their younger players like Lopez and their pitching comes around, the team will contend. Ichiro will no doubt keep up with his current pace, and no one in the division has the look of potentially running away and hiding in the standings.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Currently: The Angels have hit the skids lately, but their roster is as talented as any in baseball. Other than Vladimir Guerrero, who remains as feared as any batter in the AL, the team's offense has been non-existent. Their team BA ranks 2nd from last in the AL, and their recent slump has only exacerbated that problem. Although the pitching staff is adept at fanning opposing batters, ranking 2nd in the AL in both K/9 and K/BB, the team's ERA is in the bottom half of the AL.

Outlook: This team has struggled out of the gate, to be blunt. However, they are as talented as any team in the league, and if any of their offensive players turn it around, their pitching statistics by logical results will improve, as will their record. No one will overlook the Angels this season, and despite an awful start, they are far from out of it at this point. <bio>Written by Jay Nault sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/ .
Park rangers are nature lovers by nature. They enjoy being and working outside. Perhaps it is the fresh air that they enjoy so much. Or, it is the wide open space. It could also be the interaction with the park visitors or all of the above.

Whatever it is that drives someone to the park ranger profession, one thing is for sure, they must also enjoy wearing many hats. This is because park rangers get involved in so many things in the course of doing their job. In this article, I will discuss the many hats a park ranger could wear in discharging his or her duties.

In no particular order of importance, they are:

1. The park ranger could be called to wear the hat of a law enforcement officer. This will mean ticketing or arresting a park visitor.

You see, just as in anywhere else in life, the law can be broken in the park. For example, a park visitor can indulge in too much alcohol consumption in the cause of enjoying what the park has to offer. And we know what too much alcohol consumption can lead to. This person can become unruly or abusive to other park visitors.

In this case, it is the job of the park ranger to arrest or evict the person from the park. The failure of the park ranger to do this, could lead to dangerous situations. One of them could be somebody getting killed or seriously injured.

2. The park ranger could be called upon to control forest fire. Forest fire can be devastating. Families have lost their homes and valuables because of forest fire. Add to this the loss of wildlife. Then, you begin to understand why it is important to control forest fire.

Park rangers are one of the government agencies entrusted with controlling forest fire. They must watch park visitors to make sure they don't start fires that can rage out of hand. Something as simple as throwing a cigarette butt out can start a forest fire. While ordinary park visitors may not know this, park rangers know this too well. So they must educate and watch park visitors to keep this from happening.

3. The park ranger could be called to wear the hat of a search and rescue person. It is quite easy for park visitors to wander too far from other people. This is especially so for children. They can easily stray too far from their family and not be able to find their way back. In this case, the park ranger must help locate them before something harmful happens to them.

Another thing that also easily gets lost in the park is animals. Dogs and cats are perfect examples. One minute they could be with their owners, the next minute they could run too far into the woods. Here again, the ranger must come to the rescue.

The park ranger does indeed wear many hats. I have only scratched the surface. If you are interested in the park ranger career, I encourage you to do more research on what you will be doing on the job. This way, you will have no surprises after you get into the profession. You can do so by visiting websites which cover the park ranger career in more detail.

Note: You are free to reprint or republish this article.
The American League is extremely competitive in 2006, and nearly all of the postseason positions could come down to the final week of the regular season. All of the races at this point are too close to label a clear favorite, but history and trends in general will create a potentially riveting September for any of several teams.

AL East Winner:

Boston Red Sox

Why they'll win the division: This will likely be the most-watched race for the rest of the season because the way it's shaping up, the Wild Card will come from the AL Central. As such, the division pennant will be akin to a sudden-death playoff in September. The Red Sox get the edge simply because they're younger, healthier and play better together than the Yankees, who have questions all over their roster.

AL Central Winner:

Detroit Tigers

Why they'll win the division: The Tigers have been the surprise of baseball in 2006, and they've played so well so far that it's unlikely they'll collapse to the point where they fall out of contention. Teams that sit more than 30 games over .500 at the break almost always wind up in the postseason, and their chemistry and pitching, which leads the AL in team ERA, will carry them through to the division title.

AL West Winner:

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Why they'll win the division: This will be a three-team race for the rest of the season between the Angels, Rangers and A's, but the Angels get the nod for a couple of reasons. First, they have a more talented roster than their competition. Secondly, the Angels have a recent history of playing well in the second half and peaking at the right time. Third, the A's and Rangers have been scrapping their way to respectable records, while the Angels have been far from satisfied with their play, and they have the ability to bring their collective game to a level that's unreachable by the other teams.

Wild Card:

Chicago White Sox

Why they'll win the Wild Card race: In just about any other season or in just about any other division that didn't include the white-hot Tigers, the White Sox would hold a comfortable lead. However, the Tigers are having an unbelievable year, and the White Sox have a lot of internal turmoil to go with their talent. The defending champs will defend that title in the postseason, however, as their record is too far above the Yankees/Rangers/A's to have to worry about being caught at the end. They'll also be an extremely tough "out" in the playoffs, as they obviously have the experience to present an enormous challenge to anyone they face in October.

After another look at each of the divisions over the next few weeks, we'll revisit this issue and let you know who we think will win it all in October. Until then, sit tight and enjoy the ride - it's going to be a fun second half in the American League. <bio>By Jay Nault sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/ .
Form held in the standings over the past month in the AL West as each team looked to make a move before heading into the "Dog Days" of summer. Overall, the divisional race remains extremely tight, as the distance between the first and last-place teams is only 5.5 games. A hot or cold streak here or there could really shake things up, and as of now, this division is simply too close to call.

Texas Rangers

Currently: The Rangers held their lead in the division over the past month despite posting only a 13-13 record over the past month. True to their up-and-down nature, the Rangers never suffered a losing streak longer than two games nor enjoyed a winning streak longer than three games. Their offense continues to be led by Michael Young, Hank Blalock and Gary Matthews, Jr., all of whom are continuing their strong starts. They're also getting some power from Kevin Mench. Their pitching continues to struggle, however.

Outlook: Even though their offense is hitting well, their pitching needs to turn it around, or this team will be in danger of a collapse if their bats go cold.

Oakland A's

Currently: The A's managed to stay in touch with the Rangers during the past 30 days, but this is an awfully streaky team. While going 13-16 over the past month, the A's enjoyed a 5-game winning streak that was sandwiched by a 4-game losing streak and a brutal 7-game stretch without a win. Nick Swisher is continuing his solid season with good power numbers, but the rest of the team, like their record, has been inconsistent.

Outlook: Other than mainstay Barry Zito, who is rumored to be available in a trade, the pitching staff has been spotty, and it needs to round into form to supply the A's with much-needed consistency.

Seattle Mariners

Currently: If you're beginning to see a trend in this division, you're far from alone. The Mariners stayed put in the standings with a 14-14 record over the past month, and this is another streaky team. The Mariners won four in a row and lost six straight to arrive at this .500 record over the past 30 days. Ichiro continues to be the stalwart on offense, as he's averaging nearly two hits per game. Jose Lopez is also continuing his great season.

Outlook: Other than Jamie Moyer, none of the starting pitchers on the Mariners' staff has an ERA below 4.00. That's not a good sign, and it needs to turn around if the Mariners are to seriously contend this season.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Currently: The notion of this division consisting of streaky teams was bolstered in the past month by the Angels, who posted a 12-15 record. Within that record is a 4-game winning streak and a 6-game losing skid. On offense, Vladimir Guerrero is still Vladimir Guerrero, and Orlando Cabrera is beginning to heat up.

Outlook: If pitchers Ervin Santana and Jeff Weaver can put up similar numbers to John Lackey and Kelvim Escobar, the Angels could turn it around and make a serious push over the summer. <bio>Written by Jay Nault sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/ StubHub sells sports tickets : http://www.stubhub.com/sports-tickets/ concert tickets, theater tickets and more to just about any event in the world.
The one employee "The Lone Wolf" or "The Troublemaker" may be the one keeping your business profitable and in the black financially.

Without realizing it you may be well be focusing your vital management and human resource talents, resources and energy in the wrong direction. By simply focusing on the wrong path you may well be limiting your organizations health, wealth, profit and real growth.

We live in a culture of "democracy". In addition we as a culture view "conflict "and "interpersonal conflict "as a bad thing. Perhaps this is not so. Perhaps we should look the glass in another manner and viewpoint.

85 % of the results of most endeavors come from 15 % of the efforts. For example in real estate usually 85 % of the sales come from only 15 % of the salespeople. Fully 85 % of employees you hire and pay are just dead weight. These are the "crowd" so to speak who the management is focusing their energy on to placate whereas management efforts and energy should be on focusing towards keeping the productive 15 % happy and fruitful.

The exceptionally productive 15 % are what is keeping the organization productive , in the black and indeed are subsidizing the others who probably are doing very little but telling tales at the water cooler of their plans of valor and pointing out who won the latest lottery.

Why single these productive employees out to reprimand them as "troublemakers" or "lone wolves" who are not part of "team'. Instead one should identify these employees to further reward them and support them in their efforts.

Identify and measure the productivity of the specific employees. Are they a major production or profit center? Is there a way to make their efforts easier and even more productive It may not be likely that promoting this person to a level of management or supervisor may make any sense or profit as they are probably at their level of greatest competence. Promoting them as a "reward" may indeed by counterproductive. Knowing their "job" well may cause them to get frustrated with others who "cannot get the job done". Best to leave this person at their station and find ways to specifically reward them in a manner that they and not necessarily you regard as a good reward.

Perhaps all this person needs is recognition of their good efforts and attempts to elicit a discussion on the merits of their efforts and a slight redirection for better purpose. Perhaps specific training can be of help. For example a communications improvement program such as toastmasters or a Dale Carnegie course.

If the above turns out to be of little use and are indeed hopeless perhaps it is best to recognize the "lone wolf" tendencies and inherent productivity or this valued employee. Not all people like to be "team players". Perhaps they should be left alone to prosper you on the job. Perhaps they can be promoted or moved to a job where they are unsupervised and work alone -- to the better avail of the organization.

In the end it may well be said that one bad apple may spoil the barrel. However that apple may be your best apple. <bio>Shaun Z. It has an area of 1,218,375 acres, 1,904 square miles. Most of the park is maintained as wilderness. It can be seen from the moon and is something that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.

The Grand Canyon lies on the Colorado Plateau in northwest Arizona.

The Canyon, carved over millions of years by the Colorado River, is immense. It averages 4,000 feet deep for its entire 277 miles. It is 6,000 feet deep (a mile is 5,280 feet) at its deepest point and up to 15 miles wide.

The Grand Canyon National Park is a rich and varied biological habitat with 75 species of mammals, 25 species of fish, 50 species of reptiles and amphibians, 25 species of fish, and over 300 species of birds. These include some species that are not found outside the Park at all.

Human activities have impacted on the Grand Canyon National Park in many ways. These include the introduction of non-native plants and animals, the contamination of streams with fecal bacteria, haze caused by air pollution and worst of all by the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam in 1963. Our aircraft, quad bikes and automobiles disturb the tranquillity of the Park.

You can see the Grand Canyon on foot, horseback, mule, quad bike, kayak, helicopter ride or in a small plane.
As solo business owners, we sometimes feel like "Lone Rangers" on our own, trying to figure out ways to bring in more clients. A business owner's survival and growth depends largely on bringing in new clients. Who wants to be alone on the range, single-handedly trying to figure out how to bring in clients and expand business? That takes tremendous energy, and hard work to produce average results.

Instead of operating on your own, there are ways to creating a sales force of people happy to refer business to you. Think about how big companies increase their sales. They have large sales forces out there selling their products. The sales people are educated about the product, calling on prospects, and are paid commissions based on the number of accounts they bring in. One of the differences between a big company and you is that YOU are the "one." You are your sales force, that is, if you operate as a "Lone Ranger."

An effective way of creating your sales force is through your referral network. A referral network is a group of people who already know you, understand your business, and can refer people interested in buying your product or service. With a powerful referral network, an unlimited flow of quality prospects start coming to you quickly and effortlessly. You never have to cold-call again! This is the easiest and most effective way to establish an ongoing stream of warm leads.

Building a referral network begins with educating people you already know, your clients, colleagues, friends, and people you meet. You want to clearly articulate what you do, who your ideal client is, how your product or service helps your clients, and what's unique about working with you. Once these people are educated about your product, they become your own "sales force." However, just like any sales force, it helps to motivate them to sell by giving them something special as a thank you.

Consider offering a referral fee or a special gift to those people who refer business to you. People will be motivated to refer business to you, if they're rewarded for it. I know, as a sales person, what motivated me the most to bring in those sales was the commission check I received at the end of the month. And, I still love receiving those checks. I've been referring business to a colleague and I'm delighted when I receive a thank you note and check from him. It's an incentive to think of other people who can benefit from his service.

By organizing a healthy referral network, you're going to be able to rely on other people out in the world, all educated about the merits of your product or service, willing to become your marketing machine.

Here are six steps to follow that will help you set up a powerful referral network.

1. Change Your Mindset: For some people, there's hesitancy when it comes to asking for referral business. We have thoughts like, "They won't want to help me," or "How do I even ask?" Before you project these fears, step back and consider. If a customer's satisfied with you, they're delighted to help you out. Also, people in your personal and professional circle who believe in you, want to help you grow.

2. Be Proactive: Rather than waiting for people to offer referrals, ask, because more than likely, they don't think to offer. Occasionally, they may say to you "I told my friend about you." It's really great when that happens, but don't rely on it.

3. Write What You Want to Say: To help you gain confidence, write the words you want to say. Then practice saying it aloud until you're comfortable with it. We all feel uncomfortable doing something new. It's just like going to the health club and working out. You have to use that muscle over and over again in order to build strength. It's the same thing with asking for referrals.

4. When to Ask a Client: The best time to ask a client for a referral is immediately after you've received a compliment, and/or once the sale is closed. Once your client utters the words, "I'm happy working with you. I really have enjoyed this." That's your cue to ask if there's anyone else they know who would benefit in the same way from your services.

5. Referrals Fees: Establish a referral program whereby people receive a referral fee or special gift for the people they refer to you. Let your referral network know in advance what they can expect in return for their referrals. Giving referrals works both ways. If people refer business to you, tell them you will do the same for them.

6. Keep Track: Once the steady flow of referrals starts coming in, it's time to start managing all these leads in an organized manner. There are several software programs designed to you help track your business and referrals. Outlook, ACT, and Goldmine are several software programs to check out.

ASSIGNMENT

* Write a clear and compelling message of what you do, who your ideal client is, how your product or service helps your clients, and what's unique about working with you.

* Practice saying it aloud and role play with a buddy until you are comfortable saying the words.

* Start calling the people in your personal and professional circle, educate them about what you do, and invite them to be part of your "Referral Network."

* Ask your buddy to role play being the client and practice "asking for a referral."

* Create a "referral fee or special gift" program you can start offering to your clients, colleagues, friends, and people you meet.

(c) All Rights Reserved. <bio>Rochelle Togo-Figa is the creator of the Sales Breakthrough System(TM), a proven step-by-step sales process that helps you close more sales, sign on more clients and make more money with ease.
The creation of the National Hockey League began as the result of a dispute. The owner of the Toronto Blueshirts didn't get along with the owners who owned the league called the National Hockey Association. All the teams in this league were Canadian. The NHA met in the Windsor Hotel in Montreal to see how they could their dispute. Their solution was to dissolve the NHA and create the National Hockey League. The teams that were part of this league were the Montreal Canadians, the Montreal Wanderers, the Ottawa Senators, the Quebec Bulldogs and the Toronto Arenas.

After seven years of its existence, the NHL started to expand. The Hamilton Tigers joined in 1920. The Boston Bruins and Montreal Maroons became part of the league in 1924. The New York Americans and the Pittsburgh Pirates joined in 1925. The New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Cougars (later renamed to become the Red Wings) became part of the league in 1926. By 1930, the NHL had a total of 10 teams. The Great Depression and World War II were not a great help to the league. By 1942, the NHL was only made up of 6 teams. These 1942 teams (Montreal Canadians, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Boston Bruins and New York Rangers) were known as the Original Six. For next 25 years, they were the only members of the National Hockey League.

The NHL had to expand 25 years later since it was facing the competition from the Western Hockey League and the World Hockey Association. It added the Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues, Minnesota North Stars, Los Angles Kings, Oakland Seals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks and Buffalo Sabres to beat its competition. Throughout the 1970s, the WHA and the NHL competed for fans and players with the NHL winning. The WHA teams called the Hartford Whalers, Quebec Nordiques, Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets joined the NHL after WHA folded in 1979.

In the early 1990s, the NHL expanded ever further. The San Jose Sharks became part of the league in 1991. Ottawa Senators and the Tampa Bay Lightning entered the league in 1992. In 1993, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and the Florida Panthers joined the league. By the new millennium, four more teams called the Nashville Predators, Atlanta Thrashers, Minnesota Wild and the Columbus Blue Jackets joined the league and brought the grand total of teams in the league to 30. <bio>Dana Bradley writes about http://www.teamlogoandgear.com and http://www.teamlogoandgear.com/Coupons/FansEdge.com.html </bio>

How would you feel if you are among the lowest in standings? In almost half a century since their inception, the Montreal Expos has never appeared in a World Series. This is because they have never won a National League pennant. While the Yankees are counting their World Series titles, the Expos are still hoping to win the National League championship.

They are one of the four teams in the Major League Baseball who have not been in the World Series. However, this does not mean that the team never experienced glory since their formation. In fact, they won their only Division title in 1981. They also had good seasons in the early 1990s. However, everything changed after the strike of the baseball players in 1994. Expos experienced several losses in terms of valuable players, support, and finances.

The year 2004 was the last season of the Expos in Montreal. Before the 2005 series began, the team moved to Washington. When they moved there, the team changed their entire name to Washington Nationals.

This is the third Washington based major league baseball team. The first team was the Washington Senators. They moved to Minnesota in 1961 and changed their name to Minnesota Twins. The next Washington Senators team served the state for ten years. That was from 1961 to 1971. However, due to financial concerns, they moved to Texas and became the Texas Rangers. This left the state with no major league baseball team for more than three decades.

Changing the name to Nationals was not a walk in the park. Several deliberations took place before they could agree on what name to use. Many wanted to use the Senators but the Rangers still has the right to the name. They ultimately agreed to use the Nationals.

Before the nationals could move in, they needed a ballpark. This has given birth to a new controversy. The issue evolved in financial matters. This almost caused the cancellation of the transfer of the team. However, Washington and Major League Baseball found a sound financial arrangement that they can agree on.

Finally, the team moved to Washington amidst protest of Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos. He claimed that the act would surely threaten the income of the Orioles if there were another major league baseball team in the area. In order to achieve an agreement, Orioles acquired the broadcasting rights of the Nationals games.

The Washington Nationals had a great start in 2005. Halfway through the season, they were the number one team in the East Division of the National League. However, they were not able to sustain this as they dropped to the bottom of the team standings.

Changes took place in 2006 when the team finally found an owner. Ted Lerner won the bidding. However, the team performance is still poor. This led to the replacement of the team manager, Frank Robinson.
The 2007 season was a different story. Almost everything is in place. Although they had a rough start, they were able to improve as the season progressed. This gave their fans a reason to be optimistic in the ensuing years.<bio>Rick Grantham is an expert on sports equipment, specially on Washington Nationals Merchandise for more information on Major League Baseball Logo Merchandise, visit BooYah Village.</bio>

In recent years Hampden Park was in desperate need of improvement and after many high profile football tragedies including the horrific Hillsborough disaster on April 15th 1989 the stadium was closed and subsequently overhauled and refurbished completely so that it was fully seated and finally reopened its doors in May 1999.

Hampden Park also houses the Scottish Football Museum, a must see for all the family and a great day out, The museum also houses on display, amongst many other football artefacts, the worlds oldest football ticket from the previously mentioned Scotland and England game, The Scotland hall of fame, and the oldest national trophy dating back to 1873. The stadium is widely used for a variety of other uses including concerts of which there have been many over the years, but the highlight of the stadium is when the football crowds descend upon it for big matches and the intensity of the atmosphere has to be experienced to be fully understood, Hence the description " The Hampden Roar" that became a popular phrase among Scottish people.

Scottish football may not be a dominating force in regards to world football, but the heart and character of the support it enjoys is truly world class and this is reflected in the warm welcome the fans receive around the world, wherever they travel. And if you come and watch a football game in Glasgow you will receive a very special welcome from the "City of Smiles." And that welcome alone makes the sport in Glasgow very special.<bio>Gavin Cooper - Glasgow Business Directory Glasgow Glasgow Business Directory Glasgow News Glasgow Events Glasgow Property</bio>

Whether you choose to go bird watching alone or with a single other person or with a group is really a matter for personal preference. All three have pros and cons.

Bird Watching Alone

If you enjoy silence and solitude and become easily irritated by mindless chatter, you had better go bird watching alone. However, if you're a beginner, even if you have a detailed field guide, you may well fail to recognise some of the birds that you see. Nonetheless, bird watching alone can be a refreshing experience and an opportunity to indulge in uninterrupted thought.

Lone bird watching definitely isn't for the gregarious types who want to compare notes with like-minded souls and make the outing something of a social occasion.

Bird Watching with Another Person

Going bird watching with one other person, preferably someone you know well, can be very rewarding. You have the advantage of another pair of eyes and another range of experience when it comes to bird recognition but if you choose your companion wisely, they will be just that - companionable, without being intrusive or noisy. Choose someone to go with you who has been bird watching for a good long time and who will already have learnt the tips and tricks to telling some birds apart.

Bird Watching with a Group

Group outings can be fun and a sociable experience but make sure that the members are serious bird watchers and not just chatterers. Much of bird watching involves waiting and searching, so the more people looking the better. Someone may spot a rare species and will be able to point out to everyone where it is. If the birds are in hiding, then you'll have a variety of people to chat to about their bird watching experiences or share books with.

In addition, if you plan on going quite far afield, then you can save on transport costs by car sharing or even hiring a minibus between you.

If you don't already have a friend or friends who are interested in bird watching and want to find someone to go with, here are a few tips on how to go about it.

Join a local bird watching club or if you don't want to take the plunge straight away, ask if you can join one of their trips so that you can get a feel for the type of people who belong to the club and the range of their expertise on the subject.

If you are in education or work in an office, check the notice board for clubs or societies. You could even post your own notice asking for fellow bird watchers to contact you.

Search the internet for bird watching websites that are based in your area. If there is a forum, join and you'll soon learn what's going on in the bird watching world.

Magazines and newsletters can be useful sources of information about bird watching events in your vicinity, so subscribe to a couple and see what turns up.

Whether a lone or group activity, bird watching will always be a fascinating hobby to pursue.

Liz Canham

For more information and articles on bird watching, visit Worldwide Bird Watching. <bio>Liz Canham For more information and articles on bird watching, visit http://www.lizebiz.com/trk.php?c=17921andu=isnare - Worldwide Bird Watching. </bio>
