Vacation Rentals: A Budget-friendly Solution

Vacation rentals, London tourists should know, are one of the easiest ways to stay in the city without breaking the bank. If you cringe at the hotel prices of cities such as Seoul or Moscow, for example, then you would be alarmed at how much everything costs in London.

This is how vacation rentals London-style works: a landlord leases to you an apartment, fully furnished and ready for occupation. Use of apartments like these are more long-term than hotel stays, so vacation rentals, London-style, may be availed of for three days or longer. In exchange, you pay a sum that covers not your daily stay, but the entire duration of your visit.

Vacation Rentals: Options

A gaggle of lodging options are available for tourists who are considering the vacation rentals London has to offer. There are one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments. However, if you want to experience first-hand the colorful traditions and history of London, then why not explore other options?

The vacation rentals London proffers are not limited to modern apartments. Other excellent options include properties that belong to the National Trust and Landmark Trust. These two are organizations that safeguard historic buildings and estates sprawled throughout Britain. They rent these out to vacationers. So, if you are adventurous enough to prefer the historic to the convenient, then you should leap at this opportunity to relieve a piece of history. You could stay in a cozy farm cottage or inside a 500-year-old castle.

Vacation Rentals: At the Heart of the Bustle

The good thing about the vacation rentals London districts provide is that these are very close to the most visited tourist attractions, most of which are in Central London. These include Westminster Abbey and a dozen of theaters, museums, and old structures. These lodgings are found close to the shopping districts, too. Price is definitely one of the less savory things about London, but many tourists go shopping, nonetheless, because the products sold in London are of the highest quality. The West End of London, particularly Trafalgar Square, is a world-renowned shopping area.

In planning your London vacation, remember to make not just flight and lodging arrangements, but also transportation provisions as well. Many websites, such as http:www.Holiday4You.com offer free information about London's vacation rentals and public transport, be this road, rail, air, or water. Oh, and while in London, you must never forget to take a cab. London cabbies are as much a distinctive part of the city as its <bio>Looking for vacation rentals in London ( http://www.holiday4you.com/arizona.htm )?
Once you have decided to go on a vacation of a lifetime you have decided to travel to London. Not to visit the queen, but see the sights, tour the place and experience the grand old culture of a royal kingdom.

Whatever your reason is, you will need some help in planning your trip to London. Finding cheap airline tickets to London could help you a lot. It could save you a lot of cash which you would need to spend for a tour and for accommodations.

With cheap airline tickets to London, you need not spend more than what you need to get there. After all, the purpose of your trip is to enjoy what London has to offer by way of sights, sounds, scents and shopping that you can savor.

You do not go to London to enjoy the plane cabin and then have a regrettable stay in in the suburbs. Thus you need to prepare yourself to get cheap airline tickets to London.

First, you need to keep in mind that ticket prices change constantly. They could be cheap at this certain hour and shoot up the next day and your dream of getting cheap airline tickets to London one day may go down the drain on the next day. So even if you have already decided on the day of your leaving, be prepared to make some adjustments and keep your eyes and ears open for any news about changes in ticket prices or any little tidbit about the airline company of choice. A bit of change in management or a fluke in the market could head you for an ultra cheap airline tickets to London.

But then again, it could mean also mean the reverse and you could end up with a ridiculously pricey airline tickets to London. Nobody would want that so be flexible for a bit of adjustment that could be worth those cheap airline tickets to London.

Secondly, you need to book early. Even though you may be up to date on information regarding cheap airline tickets to London, you may not be able to get your hands on them until it is too late. Although these cheap airline tickets exist, you will only be assured when they are actually in your hands and paid for! Until they are actually paid for, they still exist in somebody else's pocket which could really turn out bad for you. At least when you book early, you will always have the option to change your tickets when the offer for cheap airline tickets to London comes along. The early bird usually gets the worm anyway.

Thirdly, remember to buy cheap airline tickets to London from suppliers and direct agents who have direct access to them. Do not buy your cheap airline tickets to London from middle men because chances are, they are really not that cheap. Intermediaries, after all, get their profit by adding a percentage to the tag price of your cheap airline tickets to London. So you do not really end up paying the actual price of those cheap airline tickets to London.

Finally, if you are searching for online websites who are offering cheap airline tickets to London, be passionate about it. It does not mean that you need to crash your computer hardware in search for those cheap airline tickets to London but you do need to hunt for online sellers who can really sell those cheap airline tickets to London. Maybe you can also tell your friends about your success in finding a cheap airline ticket to London and save them the hassle of hunting for one. <bio>If you liked this article, you might also like my other must-read guide to getting cheap airline tickets. click here: http://Airline-Ticket-Guide.useful-tips.com/ Article Written By: Jed Baguio </bio>

London is one of the world's most visited cities. With its combination of historic buildings, renowned museums and galleries and the best in dining, clubbing, entertainment and now a new range of boutique hotels, you won't run out of things to do.

Where is it?

London is the capital of the UK, set on the river Thames. Served by several airports, including London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London Stanstead, and with direct train links to the continent via the Channel Tunnel, and to the rest of the UK via domestic operators, the city is easy to get to.

Where can I stay?

It's no surprise that London is full of hotels of various sizes and standards. Famous and expensive hotels sit alongside smaller guesthouses, but it is the boutique hotel that's currently proving a popular choice with visitors. Small and stylish, with impeccable service and a real atmosphere rather than one manufactured by the marketing department of a large hotel chain, staying in one of these hotels can only make your trip to London more enjoyable.

What can I see?

There's so much going on in London that even the residents don't see it all. Plan your stay so that you enjoy a little bit of history at the Tower of London or St. Paul's Cathedral for example; some of the treasures and paintings in the museums and galleries; a show in the West End and some great drinking and dining. If you're staying in a good hotel, you can rely on the concierge or reception staff to help you buy tickets or plan your itinerary. Don't forget your camera, and make a long list of the things you want to do the next time you visit.

How do I get around?

Like all major cities, London has a modern public transport system. A comprehensive underground network takes you to all parts of the city, with prices working on a "zone" basis, which makes it easy to calculate which tickets to buy and how much they will cost. If you're planning to use the underground a lot during your trip, ask for details of saver tickets. London's famous red buses are easy to use and reasonably cheap at just £1 for central London journeys. Alternatively, you could take a traditional "black cab". These hackney cabs can be hailed from anywhere and the drivers have to pass a stringent test so that they can take you anywhere you need to go. Adept at avoiding traffic jams, happy to hold a conversation and with honest fare meters, a journey with a hackney cab driver is a real London experience. You can hire a car, but if you're staying within the city, it's far easier to use public transport. <bio>Chic Retreats is a worldwide collection of cool, smart hotels with less than 30 rooms and an eye for design and style.
As Britain's largest city and one of Europe's finest attractions, London is a great destination for a weekend break or a short holiday, and also makes a great base for exploring the rest of the country, thanks to the excellent road, rail, and air transport links it enjoys. It's also ideally placed for anyone looking at using it as a stopping-off point for short flights over to Amsterdam, Paris, or Brussels. But with so much to see and do in London, you'll have your hands full.

London is justly famed for its shopping, which is among the best to be found anywhere in the world. From high-end boutiques to famous street markets, London shopping is as varied as you could wish - from the jewellers of Bond Street to the vibrant, lively Carnaby Street, with all manner of discoveries to be made in between. The main shopping areas are around Oxford Street, where you will find Harvey Nichol's, among many, many others =96 and also Knightsbridge, which has a plethora of upmarket shopping options, not least the world-famous Harrods.

For these reasons as well as others, it is best to try and stay as close to the centre of town as possible; London is a big city and getting in and out from the suburbs can be time-consuming. It is formerly called the Millennium Wheel. It was opened on December 31, 1999 by Prime Minister Tony Blair and its purpose is to celebrate the Millennium. However due to some technical problems, it was only fully operational in March of 2000. But still, it quickly became one of the most popular attractions in the world as it entertains 2 million visitors each year.

Most people call the rides as flights because it was actually sponsored by the popular airline company, British Airways.

The London Eye Ferris Wheel is 443 feet above Thames River and will take you 30 minutes before you complete one revolution. It is located just opposite the very popular Big Ben Clock Tower and is just beside the River Thames.

Riding the Capsule

The London Eye Ferris Wheel consists of capsules where people can ride on. This capsule is very comfortable as it is fully air-conditioned and is designed to keep everyone in an upright position while the wheel is revolving. It can hold up to 25 people inside.

In order to ride it, of course you will need a ticket. You can visit the ticket box office to purchase one. However due its popularity, most of the time you really need to wait on a long line before you can take your turn. So, if you're the type of person who doesn't want to wait on a long line, then you can go online to purchase tickets in advance. The tickets may be a little more expensive than the usual though but it may be worth your penny instead of waiting on a long line under the sun.

A Good Tourist Attraction

When you go to London for a good sightseeing, you will most likely visit the Big Ben Clock Tower and the Westminster Palace or what is sometimes called the House of Parliament. Once you're there, you will never miss the huge Ferris wheel just at the opposite side of the palace. At that moment you'll realize how beautiful the London Eye is.

Though it is still not as popular as the Big Ben, it is becoming more and more popular over the past years as it attracts many people around the world. And besides, it opened just a few years ago and it really does not carry a deep historic background with it yet. But if you are in London, it will be really hard to ignore this beautiful site.

If you're planning on visiting the London Eye, it will be worth your while as you'll get to see other London attractions nearby. If you are lucky enough to ride it, you'll have some great view of famous attractions like the Big Ben Clock Tower as it is connected to the Palace of Westminster. You will also have a great view of the long and famous Thames River. In addition to all the attractions, there are plenty of shops and restaurants around the place so you'll have lots of options to relax and explore.<bio>Please check these hotels in London: London Winchester Hotel | Royal Eagle Hotel London | Ramada Ealing</bio>

Living in London is a dream comes true for many. For these people, it is a city where everything is possible. For many it is the beginning of a dream. London has seldom disappointed one who has lived there. It has a rich treasure of history, culture, education, natural beauty, modern amenities and employment opportunities. It imparts a sense of pride into its citizens. The reasons are many, and significant ones too.

London is the cradle of the largest urban economy of Europe. It rubs shoulders with Tokyo and New York in being a significant powerhouse of the world. The multicultural population of London is one of its greatest advantages, and thus attracts all leading global businesses. The predominant use of English law and language also gives it an edge over competing economic powers.

Employment in London

The British economy is presently in a vibrant state as it boasts of an annual growth rate of 2%. That London contributes significantly to this success story goes without saying. The employed population of the city is almost 3.5 million. Moreover, the wages this workforce enjoys are almost 20% more than what is enjoyed by the rest of the country. Thus, more and more people are attracted to London and they seldom have complaints about their pay packets. Manual labour has an average salary of £20,000, while urban white-collar jobs offer attractive six-figure salaries. The greatest drawbacks of the people staying and earning in London are the exorbitant costs of living and housing. Rental costs and housing expenses in London are almost double of what they are anywhere else in the country. But the problem is tackled by many by putting up at the fringes of the capital and traveling everyday.

Major industries in London

Finance happens to be the lifeline of London's industries. It is the largest of all the industries London has. The city boasts of being the base of more than fifty of the top hundred companies of UK, and more than hundred of the top five hundred companies of Europe. The newly developed Canary Wharf houses the global headquarters of esteemed companies like Barclays, HSBC and Reuters and hence functions as the secondary financial center.

Apart from finance, an industry which is growing big and fast in London, is the creative sector. Compared to other countries, the growth of the creative industry has been significant. It employs more than 4,000,000 workers and has an annual turnover of more than £14 billion.

Educational opportunities in London

London provides excellent educational opportunities to deserving candidates. Esteemed universities like the University of London, London Metropolitan University, University of Westminster, Royal College of Art and prestigious colleges like King's College London, Imperial College London and London School of Economics and Political Science attract students from all over the world. London residents can get the best of education, as a degree from any of these institutions is considered priceless.

Leisure spots in London

London has many beautiful places that can delight a tourist. There are lots of Hotels and places to stay in London too. But the best thing about London is that people living there for decades also never stop being tourists there because of the attractive and interesting spots that never seem to get old. The Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, the museums, the palaces, the churches and the parks never cease to attract the veteran visitors.<bio>Openroads is a great source for tourists or visitors looking for Hotels in London, offering a fine selection of places to stay in London for budgets of all types.</bio>

There are many hotels located within an easy walking distance to "The Tube." The Tube is London's most commonly used form of transportation for residents and it can make getting around the city fast, easy, and affordable. With 275 Tube stations throughout London, it's not difficult to find a hotel within easy walking distance to one of these stations, giving travelers easy access to the many sights and experiences London has to offer.

While guided tours of London can be costly and most museums charge admission, there are many things to do in this wonderful city that don't cost a dime. For instance, visitors may want to check out Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park. Other suggestions include the many parks located in London, viewing art at Kenwood House and the National Gallery, watching London light up at dusk while walking the Embankment, or trying the free food samples that Harrods always has to offer. Many affordable London hotels are located in close proximity to these attractions or are just a short Tube ride away.

Dining in London does not have to break the bank either. There are certainly many wonderful restaurants in London for those who seek a luxurious (and expensive) dinner, but the true adventure of London comes in part from the pub experience. Not only can travelers get a pint of their favorite local ale, but they can also indulge in traditional English fare: Fish and chips, bangers and mash, Ploughman's lunch, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Additionally, the pub is a great place to meet some of the locals and hear about some of the area's history and folklore. Visitors may also learn of the favorite haunts of London residents and have the chance to see a side of city that other, less adventurous travelers might miss.

Saving money while on vacation may be a necessity for some travelers. For others, the savings may provide the opportunity to splurge on something very special, something to be remembered for years after the vacation. This splurge might be a dinner prepared by a world-renowned chef, enjoying a theatre production, or a memorable stay at one of many luxurious London hotels.

Unlike many other holiday or vacation destinations, London can accommodate all budgets, even very small ones. There are several London hotels available for £28 (about US $55) or less, many of which are located close to the Tube. The Tube provides fast, affordable, and easy transportation around the entire city, making it simple for visitors to get from one sight to the next without the expense of car rental or parking fees. London features many admission-free attractions and sometimes the best way to find them is by visiting a pub, enjoying a pint and some grub, and taking up conversation with one of the local residents. <bio>By a freelance writer for http://www.londonhotels4u.com/ . London features many admission-free attractions and sometimes the best way to find them is by visiting a pub, enjoying a pint and some grub, and taking up conversation with one of the local residents. <bio>By a freelance writer for http://www.londonhotels4u.com/ .
When people think of London they think of the Royal family, the Parliamentary government, and years old tradition. If you plan on visiting London, be sure to stop by these must-see attractions for their history, their beauty, and their regal stature.

The Tower of London is almost a thousand years old and is home to the crown jewels. Make sure to plan ahead and get tickets to the Ceremony of the Keys, a 700 year long tradition of locking up the Tower at night. Tickets are free but you'll need to get them 6-8 weeks in advance. Because the Tower of London is a hot tourist spot, lines are hours long. To avoid the long lines, buy tickets at any Tower Hill tube station. With your tickets in hand you can bypass the line and walk right in.

Buckingham Palace is probably London's most famous building, and still a working Palace and home to the Queen. If you go in the summer months when the Queen is in Scotland you can get a tour of the staterooms. Buckingham Palace is also where the famous "Changing of the Guards" takes place. You can see this every day at 11:30am.

The Palace of Westminster and what is now the Houses of Parliament features the famous clock tower Big Ben, which chimes every 15 minutes. If you think of any postcard from London, you'll recognize the Palace of Westminster and Big Ben. It contains the House of Commons and the House of Lords. While there you can see the Parliament in action by making an appointment ahead of time. The building itself is a masterpiece in its own right. Big Ben and the House of Parliament is one of the top attractions in London.

Westminster Abbey is a cathedral used by the Royals for funerals, coronations, and weddings. It is considered to be the nation's cathedral. Its architecture is breathtaking and its history is astounding. Poet's Corner pays tribute to Shakespeare, Chaucer, Dickens, T.S. Eliot, and several others, some of which are buried there. Also here, is the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Famous Royals like Queen Elizabeth I is entombed here as well as Edward the Confessor.

Once atop the Tower Bridge, the views are outstanding. This is the most famous bridge that spans the Thames River. When you buy a ticket you can go into the engine room that is responsible for lifting the bridge. You can also see video and interactive displays inside the bridge. This is a must-see for London tourists.

If you are visiting London soon, please check into the Westbury Mayfair Hotel. They have exclusive rooms and an ideal location next to the finest stores in London. While it may be a bit pricey, your experience will be unmatched.

A trip to London just wouldn't be complete with visiting the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, the Tower Bridge, and Westminster Abbey. Make sure you add these destinations to your itinerary. You won't be disappointed! <bio>http://www.ratestogo.com </bio>

Are you looking for Greater London vacation flats?

Greater London is the top-level administrative subdivision which covers London, England. It has an overall area of 609 square miles and an estimated mid-year population of seven and a half million people. For years, it has served as an important hub of commerce, culture, and politics.

While in London, you need not worry about finding a place to stay. There are many Greater London vacation flats, and they offer good value for your money. Expect, however, to pay more for a London apartment compared to its Parisian or Berlin counterparts. London is easily one of the top three most expensive cities in the world. Nothing in London comes cheap, not entertainment and most certainly not housing.

Advantages of Greater London Vacation Flats

The first and most obvious advantage of this type of accommodation is cost-efficiency. Another good thing about Greater London vacation flats is that you can find one just about anywhere. Tourism is an essential part of London's economy. Thus, homeowners are amply prepared for the ebb and flow of tourists in need of places to stay. Additionally, Greater London vacation flats provide you with easy access to transportation. In fact, no matter where you are in Greater London, you will never be more than ten minutes away from an amazing network of bus and tube routes. You will be close to Marble Arch, Oxford Street, and other notable sights and sounds of London.

Mapping Greater London Vacation Flats

When taking your pick among the Greater London vacation flats up for grabs, consider your traveling and sightseeing priorities. For example, if you are in London for a study grant, then your apartment should be close to the university you will be going to daily. Below are some of the locations I recommend.

South Kensington and Chelsea If you prefer a restrained atmosphere and lots of museums close by, then this is the neighborhood for you. Here, you will be near to the Royal Albert Hall, Chelsea, the Natural History Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and King's Road.

Victoria Station and Pamlico The Victoria Station and Pamlico Area is a practical locations for the budget traveler. Found between Westminster and Chelsea, the area boasts of many Bed and Breakfast accommodations and a few inexpensive hotels. As an added treat, it is close to many tourist attractions, such as Westminster and Buckingham Palace.

Paddington and Bayswater Paddington has a glut of affordable lodging options, so this is a good place to look for Greater London vacation flats. To the west of Paddington is Bayswater, an area overrun with many cheap hotels.

Seasoned travelers will tell you that the best Greater London vacation flats are those that pass these four criteria: presentability, cost-efficiency, accessibility, and proximity to tourist spots, as well as the places you need to go to. You can find plenty of listings online for Greater London vacation flats. Visit http://www.holiday4you.com or any other site you can find.
If you are living in London and looking to propose you will be pleased to hear there is no shortage of hot venues to choose from. Below we have a look at some of the most popular.

If desert beaches and mountain tops are beyond your reach, there are plenty of unusual places that will provide the perfect backdrop for the big question. The following suggestions are all based in London, but you can adapt the ideas to somewhere near you.

The London Eye

A capsule on the London Eye is fast becoming one of the most popular places to propose. With stunning views over the city and thirty minutes to complete the journey, it's the perfect place to start your celebrations. The London Eye has special offers for Valentine's Day itself, which include champagne, roses, chocolates and a private capsule, but if you want to propose at a different time, call the company to see if you can make special arrangements.

The Serpentine -- Hyde Park

In a recent survey, hotel concierges said that a rowing boat on the Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park is currently a fashionable place to propose. Check out the weather, hire a rowing boat or pedallo, bring the ring, the champagne and prepare for a truly romantic proposal.

Hampton Court Maze

Possibly the most famous maze in the world, Hampton Court Maze is a great place for a romantic proposal. Set in the beautiful gardens of Hampton Court Palace alongside the River Thames, the yew hedges are a perfect backdrop for the occasion. Get deliberately lost and then drink champagne when you get to the middle!

A Boutique Hotel

London has many famous hotels, but a new type of hotel is coming of age in the city -- the Boutique Hotel. These are small, individually decorated and quirky hotels that pride themselves on personal service. They are also, compared with many London hotels, good value for money. Take a room or visit the restaurant for a proposal to remember. <bio>Dateline is one of the top online dating agencies in the UK.
London is always going to be famous for the Big Ben Clock Tower. It is the first thing that comes in the minds of most people when they hear the place London. It was built back in 1958 then started to operate on September 7, 1859. The name Big Ben is believed by many to have originated from the name Benjamin Hall. He was the man who first ordered the bell.

Many people have mistaken the Big Ben as the entire tower. But it is actually the bell that was hung in the tower. This bell weighs 14 tons and is at the very top of the clock tower. The original bell that was created cracked, however it was restored and built to forestall any more cracks.

The clock has a diameter of 23 feet, and it was the biggest clock at the time it was constructed. It was designed by a man named Edmund Beckett Denison. It was built to be very reliable. It was made in a way that it can be protected from very bad weather and climate changes. There are rare instances though that it will slow down a bit. But it has already proven its reliability as it withstood the blitz from World War II.

The Westminster Palace

The Big Ben Clock Tower is part of the Westminster Palace, which is a house of royalty and the place where kings resided back in the days. The palace is also known as the House of Parliament. The Palace of Westminster consists of more than 1000 rooms and has very long corridors that range to up to two miles.

British Parliament sessions are held here and when there is an ongoing session, a light glows above the clock tower. The locals in London are allowed to view these sessions. However you will need a ticket from a Lord before you can enter the palace.

A Great Tourist Spot

If you are planning to visit London, then you definitely need to see the Big Ben and have a glimpse of England history. Though the Clock Tower is not open to the public, there are certain spots around the tower where you can get a beautiful view of the famous Big Ben. There are many shops and restaurants that are located nearby that has a good view so you can just pick one that can satisfy you.

You can also watch a session of a British Parliament for free. It is most of the time included in sightseeing tours. However it is not open all year long and is usually available during the summer.

Aside from the famous clock tower, there are a lot of other attractions nearby like the London Eye Millennium Wheel. So visiting this great tourist spot will be really worth your while.

New Year Celebrations

People in the UK come to the Big Ben Clock Tower before a new year begins. They wait until the clock strikes 12 midnight. Once the New Year arrives, fireworks go off and the chimes of the bell will be heard to welcome the year with people around celebrating. Radio stations as well as TV stations are there to broadcast the tune of its chimes.<bio>For accommodation in London please visit: LondonHotelsGuide.me.uk | Hotels-London-Hotels.org.uk | Hotel in London</bio>

The London Borough of Camden has been one of the more affluent boroughs in London and therefore has come with a price. Comparing house prices in the London borough of Camden with other areas of London, there is generally quite a noticeable difference. However, there are other boroughs in London that have the same affluence such as the Chelsea and Kensington areas.

Boroughs such as Camden, Chelsea and Kensington have over the passed few decades have attracted a vast array of interest. Walking the streets in these boroughs, you may bump into some famous celebrities such as Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant and Chris Evans. There is also a great deal of wealthy people walking the streets donned with designer labels, driving nice cars and enjoying a lifestyle that many can't.

With all this attraction from the wealthier end of the spectrum clearly has an affect on the house prices. For the past few decades, the house prices in these areas have only been increasing. This is far to say for most of the boroughs in London as the economy has been booming for most of that time, however, the increase in the London Borough of Camden has been phenomenally more than some of the various other areas of London.

Ten years ago in the London Borough of Camden, the average price of a two bed flat was =A3100,000; now the average price of a property of this type is in the =A3300,000 bracket. There are specific areas in the London Borough of Camden that fetch higher prices than other areas. For example, a two bed flat in Hampstead will be more around the =A3350,000 mark while a similar property in Kilburn would be coming up to the =A3300,000 mark.

In boroughs where the housing prices continuously soar also attracts foreign investment. Many wealthy folk in countries such as Russia, China and the Arabian countries see the London housing market as a very sensible investment. This further increases house prices are many international owners buy houses or flats for the longer term investment therefore reducing the supply of property while demand is continuing to increase.

London boroughs such as Camden have become a popular area for young professionals to begin their life after university due to the many bars, restaurants, amenities and the close proximity to central London. This is another reason for the house prices increasing as the demand is increasing.

Recent changes in the financial market have meant that the economy has taken a slight downturn. Usually in times like these, house prices are the first to decrease as buyers are more reluctant to buy thus demand is decreasing but sellers still want to sell so supply is the same.

Britain's house prices as a whole has been affected by the economic change, with house prices in the north of England significantly decreasing. London felt this downturn also with many London boroughs seeing decreases in their house prices. However, the London borough of Camden is one of the few areas that hasn't been affected greatly by the economic change.

Of course, the house prices haven't increased the way they have in the past but they haven't really decreased either. This is because demand for living in this area is still high and the additional foreign interest means that demand will be higher than supply resulting in higher house prices than most of London. <bio>Priyesh Vaghjiani - CityLocal Camden http://www.citylocal.co.uk/cities/Camden http://www.citylocal.co.uk/cities/Camden/business/All/ http://www.citylocal.co.uk/frontend/property/property.php?cityid=326andcate= gory=forrent http://www.citylocal.co.uk/cities/Camden/news </bio>

London is my favorite city on this planet. I first went there after graduating high school and for the past 20 years I try and visit at least every couple of years. Unfortunately, the exchange rate between the US dollar and the British pound has made visiting nowadays quite a bit more expensive than it used to be, but there are still plenty of free things to do in London. Here's a list of some of my favorites.

London Museum Hopping

Most of the big museums in London are free to visit. So on each of my trips to London, I usually visit a couple and spend a few hours wandering the galleries and exhibits. Some of my favorites are the National Portrait Gallery just on the edge of Trafalgar Square; the Victoria and Albert (VandA) in South Kensington; and the Tate Modern on Bankside near the London Bridge.

Window Shopping and the Street Markets

There are so many cool shops in London, that I like to stay away from the chain stores. It's more fun to putter around shops that aren't just like the ones back home. My favorite location for window shopping is Covent Garden and the streets that run off of it. I usually duck into Neal's Yard on Neal St, just a few blocks from Covent Garden, to treat myslf to some nice cheese at the Neals Yard Dairy. Sorry, the cheese isn't free!

Other favorite puttering spots are Kings Road (starting near Sloane Square), and Carnaby Street. Some of the side streets in Soho also have some interesting shops and if you like books, Charing Cross Road and the streets that run off of it are fun to wander around.

Also, be sure to check out some of London's most popular street markets. My favorite is the one at Portobello Road in Notting Hill for lots of cool second hand goods and flea market finds. There's a market here six days a week! Sunday is the only day there is no market.

If it's Sunday though, you can always head over to Camden Market. That's the best day to go there anyway. As you exit Camden Tube station, just head north, but you won't have any problem with getting lost because the place will be mobbed with people.

People Watching

No matter what time of year you visit, London is always bustling with people. There are some great locations in the city to just spend a couple of hours soaking in the flavor of the place. Piccadilly Square and Trafalgar Square are the more obvious spots, but I also like Covent Garden because it tends to be a bit quieter and they usually have street performers too.

If you find yourself wandering around on a Sunday and you aren't in the mood for Camden Market, why not head over to Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park and see who's decided to give a speech. Watching the audience that gathers is as fun as watching some of the more entertaining speakers.

Hopefully, I've helped you out with a few ideas of some of the different free things you can do in London. The city is such a vibrant and ever-changing place to be that I find just wandering in whichever direction I feel like turning leads to some exciting new place to be discovered. All you really need is a comfortable pair of shoes and maybe a pass for the Underground.<bio>If you're planning a trip to London, be sure to take a look at Where to Stay in London before you make your hotels plans.
