Therefore, it is necessary to let dogs to live in the crates but crate training dogs is necessary for dogs as they can come to know about how to live in the crates only if they get crate training. During crate training dogs, dogs get complete guidance what to do in the crates and how to live in the crates.

Teach your dogs during crate training that what should they do in the crates. Teach your dogs how to protect themselves inside the crate. Teach them that the crate is the best protective residence for them.
Information about sled dogs and how they are trained.

Sled dogs are a group of dogs that are used to pull a vehicle that has no wheels but is set on runners over terrains of ice and snow. Sled dogs are attached to these vehicles by harnesses and lines. It is said that the origins of sled dogs can be traced back to Siberia as the people that live there have a long history of nomadic travel due to rather harsh winters.

There are certain breeds of dogs that are synonymous with being sled dogs. These dogs being Huskies and Malamutes although just about any medium sized dog would be suitable to be a sled dog.

Dogs that are selected to be sled dogs need to exhibit three main qualities. First of all they need to be in peak physical condition and be able to pull a sled, they need to have the endurance to be able to pull a sled over sometimes great distances and they need to have the speed in order to do the task of pulling the sled quickly. There are many teams of sled dogs that have been able to travel over one hundred miles in a twenty four hour period of time.

Teams of sled dogs can range from three dogs to a team of two dozen dogs. Sled dog teams not only pull several different types of sleds for racing and other transporting purposes they have also been known to pull skiers when there is little to no snow.

Pups that are being trained to be sled dogs are weaned from their mother as soon as possible in order to shift their attentions to their musher. They are at about six weeks old shifted from their mother into their own pen in order to accomplish this.

When pups that are being trained to be sled dogs are around five months old they are already running around with the lope that is characteristic of a sled dog and is also the time when they are first introduced to a harness.

There are many methods in which pups learn to be sled dogs. A very common method is to harness up to a dozen pups behind a pair of experienced older sled dogs and control the speed that they go with the use of an atv. The speed that the older dogs are allowed to go is gradually increased as the pups' endurance and strength continues to increase.

People are amazed that sled dogs are so excited to be able to pull a sled over long periods of time and generally over very rough terrain. Mushers can attribute this to the very early interactions that they have with the pups that builds such a strong relationship between themselves and the dogs so very early in their lives. <bio>Gray Rollins is a featured writer for DogTeachers.
The dogs vs. cats debate has raged on for all time and for all time the dog side has won! Dogs are man's best friend and cats don't even like us! So why should we like them?

Unlike cats, dogs are very faithful and give you unconditional love forever. Cats barely seem to know you are around most of the time. If there is any problem a dog will serve and even protect you really well, but what would a cat do? Nothing!

The dogs are very obedient creatures and will sit or lie down or heel on command unlike the cats who will just smirk and walk away. Cats cannot be trained as easily as dogs. In fact it can seem impossible to train a cat.

Whenever the owner talks, a dog will tilt their heads and listen but cats don't really seem to have much interest in human speech. Dogs will come upon hearing their name called while cats either don't recognize their name being called or don't care that it's been called! A dog's obedience makes him even more lovable and that is the biggest reason many people prefer dogs over cats.

Dogs also serve as very good companions and will play Frisbee or other games with you in the afternoon while cats, being selfish and self-centered, would prefer to take their afternoon nap quite lazily. Dogs are not at all mischievous by nature and will bring you your slippers or your evening newspaper unlike cats who might bring you a dead mouse.

Dogs also serve as very good watch dogs. There's a reason they call it a watch dog and not a watch cat! They will bark to wake you up if the house is on fire or if he finds anything suspicious going on like thieves or somebody else breaking in while cats will just quietly sneak out the back door.

Dogs are so obedient that they will let you give them a bath quite easily, while a cat will struggle the entire time.

Dogs also look much better at the end of a leash. A dog can be a great partner on daily walk or your daily run. You can't take a cat with you on a run!

Another great advantage that dogs have over cats is that they are easier to co mingle with each other. Dogs tend to get along with other dogs much easier than cats tend to get along with other cats.

Possibly the best reason that dogs are better than cats? Dogs don't use the bathroom inside of your house! They go outside! No matter how much the litter is supposed to keep the smell under control, it still stinks!

Dogs seem to understand your emotions and will try to comfort you whenever you are sad while the cats don't really seem to notice this sort of thing. A cat is far more interested in his own life.

I'm sure there are many more reasons why dogs are better than cats but these are the ones I've thought of today. Dogs are the best friend a man (or woman) can have. Cats? Not so much. <bio>Freddy R.
When we think about adopting a dog we generally think about getting one that looks cute, or is a purebred dog or we tend to want to adopt a puppy. While these are all great dogs to adopt there are many small dogs waiting to be adopted. These small dogs for adoption are usually found lost and abandoned. Some have been given by their owners for various reasons to shelters.

These small dogs that have been given into various animal shelters have all the adorable looks of a puppy. Their small size makes them perfect as companions for children and people who live in small homes.

The various breeds that are found in dog and animal shelters include Scottish terriers, Cocker Spaniels, Dachshunds, Miniature Schnauzers. You will find pure breed small dogs for adoption as well as different mixed breed dogs. Each of these small dogs is in need of lots of love and care.

When any small dogs are brought to the animal shelters they are carefully washed and cleaned of dirt and grime. The shelter vets will examine the small dogs and treat any wounds or other types of problems that these small dogs may have. Once they have been examined and treated, good food is given to the small dogs while they wait in clean kennels.

These kennels are temporary homes as small dogs for adoption may be chosen by a potential owner. Anyone can become the proud owner of small dogs but the various animal shelters where these small dogs are housed will make sure that any potential owner has the willingness to care for these small dogs.

As there are many types of stray dogs the new owners may be asked to spay or neuter their new members of the family. While this procedure may seem excessive you have to remember that many times these small dogs are found as strays because the mother dog was not sterilized.

Once you have chosen your small dog for adoption and companionship the small dog will be given into your care temporarily. This procedure is to make sure that the potential owners are right for these small dogs. This process also helps the dogs and their possible new owners become comfortable with each other.

The next time that you are thinking of adopting a pet you may want to look at the many small dogs for adoption purposes as these small dogs are the best types of dogs to have as life long companions. The love and devotion that these small dogs will give you in return for the care that you will lavish on these dogs will make you happy that you decided to choose a small dog for your lifelong companion. <bio>Author's Sites: http://dogi-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://cat-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/pet_care/natural_pet_care_index.html </bio>

I am the owner of two miniature dachshunds who share my house and home. Many dog owners would rephrase that and instead call me the human who shares the house with the dogs. Dogs are indeed wonderful creatures.

Recent experiences have made me reflect upon and notice things about dogs and their presence in my life. I grew up with dogs so was taught at a young age to appreciate and treat animals with loving care. I recall clearly watching our pet Boston Terrier comfort my little brother who sat on the floor crying about something.

My friend came over to walk the dogs today and as she stood on the doorstep Peanut, my 12 pound dachshund stood up to lick her face. I belong to a PLR site for dog articles and there have been several written on this topic - all as if this was a bad thing. This got me thinking.....

Both dogs lick my face when I'm in bed and I call this "kisses". Peanut will go so far as to stand on my chest with all four paws so he can give my full face a wash including my eyes. This usually only happens every couple weeks yet I endure because he's my dog. Bark goes after my husband more because the only time he gets to lick his face is in bed whereas I'll sit with them during the day.

My dogs also jump up on me when I walk in the door and will do this with others they know. Again, the articles say this is bad and that you should train your dog to quietly accept a short pat on the head as a way of greeting. When my two dogs have been apart for as little as ten minutes they greet each other very enthusiastically. Why shouldn't they greet me and my friends in the same fashion.

I've decided that regardless of what the articles may say, I'm all for having my dachshunds jump up and lick my face. First of all, they're just being dogs and second of all they are my friends and they don't know any other way of saying hello. I figure if they can make me smile and laugh it can't be all bad! <bio>Marcey Low is the owner of two black and tan dachshunds.
Dogs are among the top three pets that people love. They become part of our family and they bond with us much like people do and they give us their love, trust and loyalty unconditionally. For this, dogs live an exemplary life as trusted companions and beloved family members.

An ailing pet is a heartbreaking sight. Usually, most dogs succumb to arthritis in their older days. Arthritis in dogs is common and painful. Many pet owners wish they could alleviate the pain of their dogs and offer comfortable remedies for the dogs. Arthritis is an inflammation of a joint where there is pain and discomfort even when it is not moved. Eventually, the joint will become atrophied and cannot be utilized by the animal anymore.

There are many kinds of arthritis in dogs and these include osteoarthritis, idiopathic, infective and immune mediated. These are all painful arthritis in dogs and the most common of the four is osteoarthritis. This is a disease in the joints where degeneration of the cartilage is followed by some new bone formation. This formation of new bone is the sign of arthritis in dogs.

Causes of Arthritis in Dogs

Arthritis in dogs is usually caused by a traumatic injury to the joint which causes the bone formation resulting in arthritis. Obesity is also one cause of arthritis in dogs because the irregular weight adds to the concussive forces or pressure to the joint. Weak joints as a result of many joint diseases can also contribute to arthritis in dogs. For puppies and young dogs, arthritis can be caused by the malformation or wrong development of their bones.

Natural Remedies and Treatments for Arthritis in Dogs

Increased daily doses of sodium ascorbate (vitamin C) can help maintain and prevent further joint deterioration. Rhus Toxicodendron can also help alleviate arthritis in dogs by easing the pains and aches. Glucosamine can also be added to their supplement as this is what humans take to help their condition. Ask a vet for the proper dosage of the supplement before giving it to your dog. Extra Virgin coconut oil is also one natural remedy that you might like to try out for arthritis in dogs. Start out with lower dosages since the dog's system might have to adjust to the oil but many claim that this works for dogs as well as in people also.

We want to take care of our dogs and we always want the best for them. Make sure that your vet is aware of the dog nutritional supplements and cures that you are giving your dog. Just remember that a balance of diet and exercise is of most value when dealing with arthritis in dogs. <bio>Learn how to use dog nutritional supplements to enhance your dog's life and remedy your dog's discomforts - almost immediately - guaranteed! by going to http://www.supplementsforyourdog.com While your there don't forget to get your two free gifts. </bio>

Do you love dogs? If you happen to love dogs, you might want to start a dog care home business. A lot of dog owners don't have time to groom or walk their dogs that they will often rely on pet care businesses to do the job for them. Considering the number of dog owners in the country today, you will not really run-out of clients who will ask to groom and walk their dogs.

Setting up a dog bath

The first thing that you will need is a place where you can bath and groom dogs. If you live in a house with a big lawn, you may want to set up a place where you can bath dogs. Never attempt to bath dogs, especially the big once inside your house. Dogs love to wiggle around and shake their hair during baths thus creating a huge mess. Playful and rowdy big dogs are adorable but when they start running around your house in their wet coats, things will not really look very funny at all so keep them out of the house. There is no point of wasting a lot of energy cleaning after a wet dog.

When setting up a dog bath, a tub or a huge basin, a garden hose, some dog soap, shampoo, a brush and some cotton towels. You don't really need something elaborate when bathing dogs. Certainly not those pet washers that torture the poor things. Some experts believe that using pet washers where you simply put the dog inside a box and turn on the water cause emotional trauma on the dogs and must not be used at all. Well, who wouldn't be traumatized if they were put inside a closed box with water gushing all over the place? If you want to bath dogs, forget about the pet washer and do things the old fashioned way. Dogs love it when you brush their coat and massage them. Besides, bathing a dog the old fashioned way could be a lot of fun for you too.

Setting up a grooming area

For grooming dogs, select a quite area inside the house. Of course you can set-up a grooming area outside of the house if you want to but grooming a dog inside the house is lot better. First, most dogs are less playful when they are inside the house than when they are in the yard, second, there are less distractions inside the house and third, it would be easier on your part to store all your grooming stuff. For grooming dogs, you will need the following materials; a table, towels, cotton, mineral oil, eye ointment, nails clippers and a brush. You can easily get all these stuff at your favorite pet shop. <bio>Kal Bartal is owner of http://bartal.biz and writes on a variety of subjects.
Keeping a dog for a pet and companion is fun to do. Though it seems that there isn't much about keeping dogs for a pet, it actually takes more than feeding, grooming and keeping your dog happy. There is even a lot of thinking involve the way you train them and keep them fit. Aside from the daily nutritional needs of your pet, you also have to make sure that they have their regular check ups.

Choosing the breed of dog you would love to keep involves thinking. And if you are the type of person who would like to be keeping a dog for life, then looking at specific areas of concern other than how a dog looks have to be considered. Ask yourself important questions first and whether you can be capable and worthy to be called a responsible pet owner.

But what about Boxers? What about them? These are dogs that doesn't are considered as guard dogs for they symbolize strength, agility and awareness when strangers are around. They are highly recommended for security purposes. If you are eager to make sure that an attentive pet is around for you, Boxers are a great choice.

During World War I, Boxer dogs were used as military dogs. Primarily, a Boxer dog's task was to be the guard dog but other military works such as being the messenger and attack dog was also common. Because of this, their strong and athletic physique remains incumbent up to now. These dogs physical attributes have made this breed important in aspects where help is important. Throughout history, the Boxer had been counted on for jobs such as, other than being in the military, guide dogs for the blind, herd dogs (usually for sheep and cattle), and even as police dogs.

In domesticating a Boxer, it is important not to deprive them of their physical activities. Any dog needs physical exercises. Walking at the park is one simple way to do this but a Boxer dog would appreciate it if you run alongside them. This isn't only to maintain the athletic state that your Boxer has, but, it's most valuable to maintain their health in good state.

Keeping a Boxer dog for a pet involves a lot of work but it doesn't mean that it's not fun. Just like us, these dogs have their own needs and it goes out to all the other breed of dogs in the world. <bio>Click http://www.boxer-dog-secrets-guide.com to find out more about making your Boxer happy, healthy and obedient. </bio>

One of the saddest experiences for many dogs is becoming lost, separated or abandoned by their family. Often dogs become homeless when an owner has to move to a new town or city and is not able to take the dog with them. Many times when owners pass away the family doesn't want to keep the dog and turns them over to a rescue.

There are many different breed rescues located all around the world. These organizations are usually staffed entirely by volunteers that rescue abandoned dogs and care for them while looking for suitable homes. Often the volunteers choose to provide homes for the dogs so they are not kept in kennels. This process also allows the volunteers to get to know the dogs and see how they interact with children and other pets within their household. Some of the "foster" homes also offer some basic training for the rescued dogs if they do not have a good understanding of the basic commands.

Dogs that are brought into the rescue with a known history are often easier to find homes for. Usually puppies are not brought to a rescue, but there are often a high number of senior dogs left at rescue shelters that are very hard to find homes for.

Benefits To Getting A Dog From A Shelter

For those families that would like to get a dog that already has basic training, is housebroken, and also is spayed or neutered a dog from a rescue is a perfect option. Often these dogs are very well trained and there is a good record of the interaction that they have with their foster families. These families work to socialize the dogs as well as find out if they are good with children, other dogs as well as pets. Volunteers that work in the shelters are very familiar with the breeds and their characteristics.

The dogs from shelters are always spayed or neutered. The cost to adopt a dog from a shelter is often less than most vets fees are for just the spay or neuter. All vaccinations are up to date and the dogs are usually treated for fleas, parasites and heartworms prior to adoption.

Dogs from a rescue are often very loving dogs that are eager to find a good home and a permanent place to live. Many people that have adopted a dog from a shelter report that the dogs are very affectionate and loyal, almost as if they realize that they have been specially chosen.

The cost to obtain a dog from a rescue shelter is usually between one and two hundred dollars. Often dogs that have required a lot of veterinarian services may require an additional amount of a donation to cover the added expenses. All the fees obtained from the adopted dogs are used to buy food, provide shelter and veterinarians services as well as advertise and find homes for other dogs in the shelter.

If you want to get a dog of a particular breed consider adopting one of the many dogs currently in a rescue shelter. If you have a shelter in your area you also may wish to volunteer to help dogs in the shelter or even become a foster family for dogs looking for permanent homes. <bio>Looking for unique dog supplies?
My family has our two dogs which are very much considered part of the family. However, I understand that I am not alone. Every time I walk into shops and things like that, I am always presented with opportunities to buy gifts and presents for my dogs. The shops sell presents which you are supposed to give to them, and give you ideas about the way you should treat your dog: like a human. I do not mind this overly as I suppose it is just harmless fun.

In a department store which I recently visited I was shocked to notice that they sell clothes for dogs. They actually have a department which is dedicated to them. Designer clothing for dogs! I think that is so funny. The thought of a dog wearing a Prada jacket or a Burberry scarf! And the price tags were not cheap at all. You have to pay through the nose to decorate your dogs. And if you love cats and want them to look really good, then do not despair. They have a separate department which is their fully to cater for the needs of cat owners as well. The fact is that these cats and dogs do not overly appreciate wearing the clothes and whether we like it or not. It is only the owners who truly benefit.

The store had special holiday clothing in for the dogs. Like costumes that made them look like Santa Claus or at least his reindeer. Although I refrained from purchase, I am sure I would buy any Halloween costumes they had on offer. Just imagine buying a ghost outfit for your dog! I think it would be really funny. The kids would love to take Sally and Sue out trick or treating!

The next thing that was suggested by our husband was that we were just as bad as them people. We buy or dogs bones for Christmas and encourage the children to celebrate the dogs' birthdays. A part of that which is quite funny is that we got the dogs from a home so were only able to make an educated guess as to when they are born. The fact is that through encouraging dogs to be treated as equals at least we encourage children to treat animals with respect. And that is no bad thing. <bio>Amy is the editor of a top http://www.petsinsight.com website, and she also runs a site about http://www.nicegolfing.com </bio>

There are many pleasures in life, but few are as great as owning and caring for one or many pets. I have been a pet lover ever since I was a kid, and I have never owned less than three dogs at a time for as longas I can remember. My parents were dog lovers as well, and they raised us right. I remember being fascinated with methods for training our dogs from the time I was young. I loved learning about new ways to get your new puppies to stay in control. Crate training was one method that I constantly saw my parents using.

Basically, crate training is a method of training your dogs (and I guess it could be used for other pets as well). You use crates to put your dogs in during times of discipline as a way of training them into good habits and keeping them away from bad habits. Each time I have seen crate training used I have seen it work effectively.

When done right, crate training is a great way to train dogs. As a veterinarian, I am constantly helping my clients come up with creative ways to house train and teach other habits to their dogs. I quite often suggest crate training to my clients as long as they take the time to learn exactly how to make it an effective form of discipline.

Like any other form of training, crate training is only effective when it is done consistently and well. You cannot use crate training on a hit and miss basis and expect your dogs to respond well to your actions. You must learn the techniques of crate training and then be committed to sticking to your purposes once you begin the training. Dogs need consistency in discipline or they will never understand what you are trying to mold in them.

You can pick up many resources on crate training, or you can do an online search and find out more. It is becoming a more popular way to train dogs, so you shouldn't have any problems finding enough info to work with. Take pride in your dogs and take the time to train them to the best of your ability and with the most effective methods you can find. Crate training might just be the answer that you are looking for with your dogs. Grab some crates and start your training today! <bio>Hallidae Thomason is a veterinarian that cares about seeing people train their pets well.
Once you have decided to have a dog at home, the next logical question would be which one? And that's a crucial question for sure. Be careful about choosing a dog because it comes with a few responsibilities. Therefore, go for the one that fits well with your lifestyle, temperament and family structure. Here are a few things that you must carefully consider while deciding which one of the several breeds you want to take home.

Size matters. Very much so, because a large dog can obviously not be kept in a two bedroom apartment in a city where the open space is squeezed to limits. So if you have a small home go for a small dog, like a chihuahua.

If you have kids at home, take a gentler dog. Size has nothing to do with the temperament of dogs. Even toy dogs like Chihuahua may not be the best suited for a home with kids due to their high strung behavior while relatively bigger dogs like Labradors are found to be quite affectionate and easy going with the kids. Labradors, in particular, are known to be very tolerant of the kids and can take a lot of rough kiddie treatment before losing temper. However, dogs like Doberman are not so tolerant though some of them turn out to be exceptions. But then, they are individual cases of good dogs. So, you may safely settle for a Labrador.

Another important factor is time. How much time are you willing to spend taking care of the dog? If someone stays home all day long, there is no problem at all. However, in case both the spouses work and the dog is left alone for the whole day, it is very likely that it will be rather irritable in the evening. Dogs do not like being left alone over extended periods of time. Consistent loneliness may also cause some serious psychological problems to your pet. So bring the animal home only when you can take care of it.

Dogs are active animals. So, you must consider your schedule and whether or not you'll be able to spend some time outdoors or indoors playing with your pet. You may have to fall in a habit of getting up early to walk the dog. Of course, that's healthy for you too. And if you cannot manage it in the morning, consider evenings.

Dogs are responsible affectionate companions but demand attention and care. Take care of them and they'll reciprocate. <bio>To get more information on pet dogs, dog breeds and pet dogs club visit http://www.thepetdogs.com/ </bio>

Out of all of the different types and colors of Labradors, the black Labrador is one of the most popular. Black Labradors are usually solid black in color. They are sleek and graceful looking animals. They are a large breed of dog and must be taken seriously because they can harm small children or frail individuals because they have so much enthusiasm for life and they want to play with everyone. However, black Labradors are very smart and they learn quickly. They can be trained quite easily not to jump up on people or cause other problems because of their energy levels and large size. Some people might be frightened by large dogs such as the black Labrador, but spending time with these dogs will show most people that there is nothing to fear except that you might be licked with much enthusiasm.

Pay Attention To Energy Levels

There are many different breeds of dogs in this world today, and they can differ not just in their looks but in their temperament and their energy level as well. This is important to be aware of when looking into getting a large dog such as the black Labrador. High energy dogs are often very enjoyable to the person or the family that likes a lot of outdoor activity, but this type of dog might not be as good of a choice for the person that works all day or lives in an apartment. This does not mean that the black Labrador would not make a good pet, but it is not healthy for the dog to be closed up in an apartment all day and could result in destructive behavior simply because the dog would be bored.

Big Dogs Need Big Spaces

For those that are interested in owning a black Labrador, space must be considered. Those who live in apartments either do not own dogs or only own small dogs because large dogs with a lot of energy are often unhappy in an apartment all day. However, for the family that has space for a large dog, a black Labrador would be a good choice because they make good guard dogs yet are gentle and affectionate with people that they know including small children. <bio>Denise Duncan loves all dogs, especially labradors, and enjoys training and raising them.
Pet owners know that although they love their pets they can do a great deal of damage to their expensive carpeting. Dogs are no exception to this. Read this article to learn about some of the ways dogs can harm your carpet and some simple ways you can prevent the damage.

The biggest way that a dog can harm your carpet is quite obvious. By urinating on it. The best way to prevent this is to leave your animal outside during the day, weather permitting, or to kennel them until they are full trained. If they do have an accident try to get to it right away and use a cotton terry cloth towel to soak it up. Follow that up by spot cleaning it with a solution of one part white distilled vinegar and three parts tap water. Another way that dogs can harm carpet is slightly less obvious. Dogs have oils on their skin. Oils that will transfer to the carpet where they sleep and lay all of the time. To prevent this damage try to get your pet to sleep in a dog bed or a blanket. Also bath them often to keep the oil from building up on their body. One final way that dogs can harm your carpet is by chewing on rawhide. Plain rawhide is not to bad but can cause damage from your dogs saliva. If they chew too aggressively they can also cause their gums to bleed which will end up leaving blood on your carpet. The real problem with rawhide however is from the flavored variety. Do not let your pet have these indoors as the dyes will quickly transfer to your carpet and may become permanent.

Dogs can cause a great deal of damage to your carpet but like any animal lover will tell you, they are worth it. Try to prevent the damage as best you can and hopefully you will have a happy pet and a long lasting carpet. Remember to clean your carpet regularly as well. This is very important to houses with pets. <bio>Go to http://www.thecarpetcleanerlist.com/cleveland.htm for more information on carpet care. </bio>

It depends on what you're looking for, for example, if you care about the personality and character of the dog more than anything else, the gender shouldn't make a huge difference. Several dog trainers and breeders recommend a female dog to homes with young children. Some actually believe that there is some type of maternal instinct that exists in female dogs. If you are apprehensive that she will bleed all over your home when that time comes, consider getting her spayed, which is the ideal thing to do anyway. Once she's spayed, rest assured that she will not bleed a single drop. As far as behavior, female dogs can be just as challenging as male dogs, sometimes even more of a challenge.

What to Look For When Choosing A Male Dog

Male pets are a little more difficult to care for at times than females. Reason being, they are quite good at performing a disappearing act when a nearby female dog is in heat. This can be quite hazardous to the dog as well as create problems for you. Several male dogs have been hurt or even killed when escaping their homes to search for a female in heat. Between moving cars and fights with other male dogs, it makes perfect sense to also have male dogs fixed.

Most male dogs are also very protective over their property, including any of his "stuff" inside your home, his bathroom area, or even a female dog. A male dog usually become very hostile when they think that his property is being taken over by another dog and is willing to fight to defend it.

Also, male dogs also show territorial urination by lifting its leg up as high as possible while urinating. This leg-lifting act is not an issue unless it occurs inside the house.

On the other hand, male dogs have huge amounts of energy and are a lot of fun to play with. Male dogs can be more active and have more fortitude than female dogs. This is probably the reason why male dogs are normally chosen for jobs in law enforcement.<bio>Written by Kelly Marshall of Oh My Dog Supplies - your source for luxury dog carriers online</bio>

Dog rescue groups are designed primarily to rescue any breed of dog that is being abused by their owners. The various dog rescue groups can legally go into a house and take any dog out that is being mistreated. In addition to rescuing dogs from abusive owners dog rescue groups will also recover the various dogs that are at the overcrowded pounds.

The other types of dogs that dog rescue groups go to the aid of is that of the many different strays and abandoned dogs. These dogs are all taken to dog rescue centers. At these centers the staff will calm the frightened animal down. Once the trust of the animal has been gained the staff will wash and clean the dirt and other matter that has accumulated on the dogs.

When the dog has been thoroughly cleaned the veterinarian from the dog rescue group will begin healing the many cuts, scrapes and wounds that are on the dog. In addition any internal and external parasites are gotten rid of. The result of this is the dog has a better chance for a full recovery.

Once the grooming process and the medical examination has been finished the dog is petted and given lots of love. For many of these dogs this is the first time in their entire life that they are cared for and made comfortable and free. These dogs will also be given a nutritious meal so that they can begin to look healthy.

Before these dogs are ready to be adopted the dog rescue groups will place the dogs in foster care. The various families who take care of these unwanted dogs are used to caring for and training these dogs to become loving members of a family.

The various social and behavioral lessons that many adoptive families want from their new four legged family members will be well learnt before the dog rescue groups will consider that the dogs in their shelter are ready for adoption.

When a successful adoption has been accomplished the dog rescue group will provide counseling for the adoptive family to get used to the presence of their new pet and the changes that are present in their lives as a result of a pet. These are the many faces of dog rescue groups.

These dog rescue groups provide us with a valuable alternative to euthanizing unwanted dogs and puppies. The next time that you hear about a dog rescue group in your area you may want to see how you can help these groups look after the many needs of their doggy tenants. <bio>Author's Sites: http://dogi-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://cat-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/pet_care/natural_pet_care_index.html </bio>

Dogs and kids can live together harmoniously, if the situation is properly understood and carefully handled.Friendships between dogs and kids are both wonderful and character building for the children.

Most dog bites inflicted on kids are by the family pet, or a neighbours dog. It is not that the dog is aggressive, it is just that Mums and Dads do not understand that children, and particularly babies, act very differently to adults, and it is this unusual behaviour that upsets the dogs.

My own children were brought up with German Shepherds, supposedly well know as aggressive dogs. The dogs were fairly anti-social to strangers but to the family they were totally trust worthy. I like to think that it was because I taught the kids to behave properly around and towards the dogs.

When dogs and kids are living together it is the kids that need to be taught to treat all dogs with the greatest respect, and to understand that dogs are not toys. As soon as babies are crawling they need to be told to be kind to the family dog. Puppies are never too young to learn, neither are babies. If you have just acquired a new puppy do not let it chew you or play nip, good training for when it is a fully grown dog.

Dogs protect all things that they care about, whether that be the house, their diner, the car, their bed, kids have to understand to leave dogs alone at certain times or certain places. Some dogs are, by nature, herding dogs, so these may chase a child if it runs away. This could excite the dog to attack.

Some dogs would get defensive if they are cornered or have some one standing over them. Kids should be taught to not scream, cuddle the dog tightly or pinch them. It should be remembered that as a dog gets older it could become less tolerant, so the family dog that has always been so good with the kids suddenly nips a child. Old dog get deaf so cannot hear a child approaching, so may nip out of surprise. It is not the dog's fault!

Kids need to be told to never approach a strange dog, without asking permission. If the dog is out without it's owner leave it alone.

To always approach in a steady quiet manor.

No teasing, yelling, hugging, pinching, pulling or chasing.

Always leave mothers with young alone.

Never try to stop a dogfight!

If you are approached by a strange dog, stand still; let the dog sniff you, no wriggling fingers, put them in your pocket if you have one.

Do not stare at the dog, and never run away.

If the dog is barking or growling, slowly walk away, keeping the dog in view.

Be sure your kids understand the difference between your own dog and a strange dog.

It is wise to never leave a baby or very young children alone together, no matter how well you think you know the dog.

This all sounds a little forbidding but dogs and kids really can have lots of fun together. <bio>I have owned dogs for 42 years. Learning to train from my mother who trained to county level. Over the years I have found that the old ways of training are not always the best, that praise is the best form of training, and the younger the dog, the easier it is to train. http://www.dogtrainingproblems.biz </bio>

This idea of taking your dog to a dog park is not a good one. Why?

Because:

#1) It's not natural for the dog. We're not talking about human children who need to be socialized with other kids throughout their infancy. Dogs learn dominant and submissive behavior and how to interact with other dogs from 6 to 8 weeks of age. This two week period is called a critical stage, and a small amount of exposure will have a lasting effect on your dog's personality.

When you throw your dog in with all kinds of other dogs (from other packs) the first thing they need to do is establish who's dominant and who's submissive. And yes, they'll tussle to do this, often. If you have two really dominant dogs, they may even fight to the death. Or if another dog gets flushed too quickly, he'll get defensive. And then you have a dog fight on your hands, with hundreds of dogs and owners yelling and running around screaming.... and none of the dogs are trained... and none of the dogs are on leash... and all of the owners don't know anything about dog handling (esp. a fight) but think they know everything. Trust me... it's a bad situation you need to avoid.

#2) Health: They let anyone into those dog parks. And believe you me, you get the types who will find a dog in an alley and before giving it shots (rabies, parvo, etc..) ... they think they're doing a great thing by bringing the dog to the dog park where he can cough, lick and breathe on your dog.

#3) Temperament: Nobody does a temperament test on these dogs before letting them into the park. Duh! You're playing with fire.

So you can see, there are a lot of risks. And just because the dog gets into a dominance scuffle, does not mean that he's a dog fighter. But that's a different issue for another article.

That's all for now, folks!
We all own dogs at some point in our lives and we often wonder what we would ever do without them. We all want our dogs to lead healthy and long happy lives. If we all knew a little more about dog nutritional supplements our dogs would lead longer, healthier and happier lives. As our dogs age, more physical ailments start occurring, not unlike human beings. It would help our canine buddies if we would educate ourselves on what we could give them to ease some of their discomfort. Dog nutritional supplements are the answer to many canine health problems.

Good Nutrition

Dogs that are properly fed throughout their lives generally do not require any type of dog nutritional supplements. They get whatever nutrition they need from the dog food they are fed. Consulting a vet on what type of vitamins and minerals your new puppy might need is a very good idea. Dogs that are fed the proper vitamins and minerals throughout their lives should be able to ward off any other medical problems until they get older. The dogs that require dog nutritional supplements throughout their lives are dogs with special needs. Older dogs fall into the special needs category because as they age, their health begins to fail.

The dog nutritional supplements that are needed for older dogs to maintain good bones are calcium and phosphorous. These supplements, given in moderation unless specified by a vet, will be very beneficial to your older dog. Too much of both elements are not good for any dog. If your older dog is having a hard time getting up or down, chances are good that he needs these dog nutritional supplements. Dogs with excess weight, whether old or young, will need microelement dog nutritional supplements.

These dog nutritional supplements are needed for the proper running of a good metabolism. Zinc will contribute to the synthesis of proteins and will help your dog's skin and fur look and feel better. Iron is a dog nutritional supplement that is needed to combat anemia in dogs. It will also help with their blood circulation.

Diabetes, digestive disorders, arthritis, kidney and liver disease, thyroid dysfunction, skin disorders and obesity are all problems which are occurring more often today in our family dogs. Many of these conditions can be prevented by giving our animals a healthier lifestyle. For the poor dogs that are already suffering from existing conditions, you can do wonders to improve if not cure their problem with a combination of a healthy lifestyle and dog nutritional supplements. <bio>Learn how to use dog nutritional supplements to enhance your dog's life and remedy your dog's discomforts - almost immediately - guaranteed! by going to http://www.supplementsforyourdog.com While your there don't forget to get your two free gifts. </bio>
