How does one actually become a law enforcement helicopter of fixed wing pilot? This is a question asked by many young people who one day aspire to be a pilot, or more specifically a law enforcement pilot. The standard answer you will hear, is that most police agencies "hire their pilots from within." This is true for the most part but let's take a closer look at this possible career choice. Another related question I see often is how much do law enforcement pilots make?

Indeed there are some agencies who hire civilian pilots. We will take a closer look at this in a future article.

First let's look at where most of the law enforcment pilots are found in the United States. By far the vast majority are found in state and local law enforcement agencies. In other words your local police and sheriff's department, or your state highway patrol. Yes there are a number of federal agencies who employee pilots, but the vast majority are local law enforcement agencies.

Take LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) for example. They operate approximately 18 aircraft, most of which are helicopters, and have somewhere in the neighborhood of 70 people assigned to their aviation unit. They are one of the largest law enforcement aviation units in the country, if not the largest.

I probably don't have to tell you that the helicopter dominates the law enforcement aircraft inventory, though many agencies will operate one or two fixed wing aircraft for prisoner transports and surveillance operations. So the majority of law enforcement pilots are helicopter pilots.

The vast majority of agencies do in fact take their sworn officers and deputies, and either train them in house, or send them to flight school to obtain their helicopter pilot license. Why do they do it this way instead of just hiring people who are already pilots? Well I can't answer for every agency, but suffice it to say that the majority do, do it this way and they have for many years.

So how long would you have to spend on the ground as a patrol officer before being able to transfer into a law enforcement air unit? This varies significantly from agency to agency. There is usually a minimum amount of time, such as 2 or 4 years, and then there is the actual time and experience you will need in order to be competetive for such a position. I know of some law enforcement officers who were able to transfer into their air units with as little as 5 or 6 years on the department.

About that pay. Most law enforcement pilots do receive a premium pay for being a pilot in the air unit. However, all you really need to do is look at the salary of a law enforcement officer on a large department with about 10 years on. This will give you a good idea of what a law enforcement pilot makes. Depending on the part of the country I would estimate most law enforcement pilots are making $60,000 to $70,000 at a minimum. Some make much more. Ultimately, law enforcement and law enforcement pilot are excellent and rewarding career choices.<bio>Darryl Kimball is a law enforcment helicopter pilot with a large Southern California Sheriff's Department.
Certificates in general give you a fast and quick way to get into any profession or help you specialize in your current profession. You can get a certificate in the numerous criminal justice professions.

There are two types of certificate one can get. One is an entry level certificate. This certificate allows you to get entry level positions in your profession. The other certificate is a professional certificate. This certificate is for those already in a profession that want to specialize in certain area of the profession. This is more like continuing education for the professional. The easiest way to explain this is through the examples presented below.

One example is someone who gets an entry level certificate in paralegal studies. This certificate allows you to get entry level job as a legal assistant in law firms or law department of organizations.

On the other hand, a professional in the criminal justice field can get a certificate in paralegal studies. This certificate is a form of professional studies that helps keep them current in the profession. It also helps him or her get more specialized training as paralegal. The hope is that such specialization will help in career advancement.

Another example is someone who gets an entry level certificate in law enforcement. This certificate will enable the person get entry level position in police departments or other law enforcement organizations.

On the other hand, a law enforcement professional can get a certificate to help him or her specialize in an area of law enforcement. It could a certificate that helps him or her perform better as an investigator. This type of law enforcement certificate will strictly focus on investigative skills. The person doing this is again hoping this certificate will help their career advancement.

A final example is an entry level certificate in homeland security. This person will acquire the skills to handle basic homeland security duties. The person will be employed by local, state, or federal homeland security organizations.

On the other hand, a homeland security specialist can get certificate in homeland security that helps him or her perform their job better. This type of certificate could be in the area of counter terrorism. This will keep them in the cutting edge of counter terrorism and help him or her stay ahead of terrorists. Again, the idea here is to keep them relevant in the profession, with the hope that this relevancy will help their career advancement.

Any way you look at it, a certificate in criminal justice can only help the individual that acquires it. An entry level one helps one get a job and a foot in the door of the profession. This foot in the door leads to paychecks. A professional certificate helps one specialize. This specialization leads to career advancement and more money.

I have only given a few examples of certificates in criminal justice. There are a lot more. Covering all of them is beyond what I can do in this short article. If you are interested in seeing more examples, I urge you to do more reading on it. You can do this by visiting websites that deal with the subject in more detail.

Note: You are free to reprint or republish this article.
Every year in the United States, more than 800 people are killed and more than 200,000 injured in accidents involving red light running. Of these casualties, many are passengers in other vehicles or are hapless pedestrians. Accidents engendered by red light running reach astonishing proportions, too, amounting to more than $150 billion in medical and emergency bills, productivity loss, and property destruction.

With such staggering figures, what have many cities opted to do? They set up photo enforcement.

How Photo Enforcement Works Photo enforcement, while relatively new in the United States, has been in use in Europe and Australia for two decades. This is how it works. Cameras, positioned on a pole about 12 feet high and roughly 80 feet behind the intersection, are connected to wire sensors. These sensors are placed into cuts in the roadway. It is through these wires that electricity travels, creating an electromagnetic field as it does so. Vehicles running over the wire create an interference in the electromagnetic field, thereby triggering the camera.

How do cameras determine which cars and drivers to take pictures of? Another network of wires is set up a few feet away from cameras. These determine the speed of the vehicle crossing the red light. Because these cameras have viewfinders that cover entire intersections, two photos are taken once the sensors are triggered. The first photo shows the vehicle before it enters the intersection. The second shows the vehicle in the intersection. In both photographs, the red light is visible.

Image Capture: During and After Automated speed enforcement operate on pre-determined speed thresholds, 11 miles per hour over the posted speed limit, for example. Thus, it only captures images of vehicles moving at or exceeding the established speed threshold. When violations occur, the system captures not only the images of the vehicle and the driver, but also the vehicle's speed data. These are then sent to authorized personnel who review the vehicle's registration information. The resulting citations are sent to the vehicle's registered owner through the mail.

Photo Enforcement: Advantages Perhaps the biggest advantage of photo enforcement is that it is the solution to limited enforcement resources. After all, there are too few traffic cops and simply too many reckless drivers. Additionally, it provides quick physical documentation of the offense and the offender, thereby minimizing red light running and its resulting accidents. Photo enforcement is said to have a behavior modification effect on drivers. Once drivers see red light cameras, they slow down and drive more carefully.

Photo Enforcement: Disadvantages Photo enforcement, however, is not without its flaws. In fact, its most vehement detractors are drivers who claim that photo enforcement isn't a tool for safety, but for moneymaking. For drivers, the system's worst flaw is that it does not make distinctions between vehicle owner and driver. It doesn't matter who sped through a red light; the vehicle's owner will get the citation. Another disadvantage is the time lag between infractions and citations. A third comes in the form of prohibitive infrastructure and installment costs. In relation to this, the difficulty in selecting intersections and equipment suppliers may be a big source of headache, too. The final and the biggest drawback to photo enforcement, however, is that it is always coupled with legislative issues. In some states, even, photo enforcement has been declared illegal.

Without public and political support, photo enforcement will never even see the green light in other American states. Clearly, the system has a long way to go before it becomes the unanimously accepted solution to the problem of red light running. <bio>Do you fear the dreaded ticket in the mail from those controversial photo enforcement ( http://www.video-surveillance-guide.com/photo-enforcement-devices.htm ) cameras?
There are many people who dream of becoming crime scene investigators (CSI). Who can blame them? This job can be fun. If you don't believe me, just watch the television show, CSI: Miami.

But reality can be different. The role played by crime scene investigators on TV can be different from real life. This is why some things need to be set straight about the CSI career. This article will address the 3 things all aspiring crime scene investigators must know before they become one.

1.Those aspiring to be crime scene investigators must know that not all law enforcement agencies will hire a civilian CSI. There are various reasons for this.

One of the reasons is that the agency may not be big enough to dedicate a person to doing this job. So what these types of agencies do is have a police officer to play the role of CSI. This way, the officer can be doing other things when he or she is not collecting crime scene evidence.

Another reason is that the budget is just not there to support the position of a CSI. Like everything else in life, money is also an issue for law enforcement agencies. They have budgets and limited resources they have to live under. What these law enforcement agencies do when there is a crime is request for the help of a CSI from other friendly law enforcement agencies. This way, they save the cost of having a CSI on staff.

2.A CSI must be available to work 24/7. Crime has no appointed time. It can happen any minute or hour of the day. It does not know the weekend.

So, somebody who wants to work as a CSI must avail themselves at all times. You may be called in the middle of dinner or in the middle of your kid's birthday party. You have to be ready and willing to pick up and go to the crime scene.

3.In the past, most crime scene investigators were trained in-house by law enforcement agencies. Thanks to television, this is changing. You now have colleges offering CSI education. You can get anywhere from certificate to masters degree in crime scene investigation.

But keep in mind that all the education will not replace the additional training you will receive by the law enforcement agency that employs you. There is nothing like real life training and guidance from real life CSIs. But the education you get from college will definitely give you an advantage, both in getting the job and performance after you get the job.

I have covered the 3 things I believe you should know before becoming a crime scene investigator. There are of course other things you have to know. Covering every little thing is beyond what I can cover in a short article like this. I encourage you to continue to expand your knowledge if you aspire to become a CSI.

Note: You are free to reprint or republish this article.
If a Siberian husky breeder is not listed with a breeder registry then ask why. If you really want to know if a Siberian husky breeder is bad or not ask your vet and local law enforcement. Local animal rescue groups can also help you weed out bad Siberian husky breeders.

Deciding that you are getting a Siberian Husky as your next family pet is one part of the process but the most difficult part of the process is finding the right Siberian husky breeder to get your dog from. You need to start using all of the resources available to you to weed out the breeders that are nothing but trouble and you need to do this as the responsible owner to a future Siberian Husky. Taking your time and eliminating the bad breeders is what a good breeder would expect you to do and something a bad breeder will fear that you will do.

A breeder registry is an organization that sets breeding standards for the members that list with it. If you are talking to a breeder that is not listed with a breeder registry then you may not want to be buying your dog from that breeder. A breeder that is not listed with a registry is using his or her own breeding standards and that can be risky.

You should never underestimate the valuable information you can find with your vet when it comes to selecting the right Siberian husky breeder. Discuss your potential breeder choices with your vet and see if they recognize any names to avoid. If you have not chosen a vet yet then the process of selecting a breeder is the perfect time to start a discussion with a vet, as they will be just as interested in your pet's good health and well being as you are.

You could do yourself a big favor by speaking with local law enforcement about your choices for Siberian husky breeders as well and see if any of the breeders you are considering are familiar to the law at all. If you have a breeder on your list that has a bad reputation with local law enforcement then you probably want to remove that breeder from your list.

The local animal rescue groups are always in tune with what is good and bad about the different animal breeders in your area. You may want to run your list of potential Siberian husky breeders by the local animal rescue groups and see if any of the names on there stand out to them as bad or not. The animal rescue groups spend most of their time trying to help solve the situations that would require their services so they are sure to point you in the right direction.

If you do not feel comfortable talking to a particular Siberian husky breeder then do not do business with that breeder. The relationship between breeder and owner needs to be an open and comfortable relationship because you will be in touch with them for many years to come so make sure you take your time and use all of the resources at your disposal to make the right decision. <bio>Andrew Preston often speaks to animal rescue organizations about proper breeding techniques and how they apply to healthy dogs.. You can find advice on avoiding bad http://www.siberianhuskyguide.com/Siberian_Husky_Breeders/index.php Siberian husky breeders with this article.
There are many people who dream of becoming DEA Agents. Who can blame them? This is an exciting and rewarding career. The fight to keep drugs off American streets is a fight many people will be glad to join.

But the dream of becoming a DEA agent can quickly die if the proper care and preparation are not taken. To help with this preparation of becoming a DEA agent, this article will discuss the 3 important things people aspiring to this noble profession must know before applying for the job.

In no particular order, they are:

1.If you are preparing to become a DEA agent, it is important that you attend the US Drug Enforcement Administration Orientation Session. This session can be attended at your local DEA field office. There, you will get a dose of what the job involves.

Sometimes people want to be something until they find out what is involved. Then, they change their mind. This orientation session will help you decide if you really want to be an agent.

In the event there is no DEA Field Office near you, you can conduct phone screening and orientation by calling the national DEA office. This way you don't waste money traveling long distance only to be disappointed.

2.You must pass the DEA Physical Task Test. The job requires people that are physically fit. The Drug Enforcement Administration makes sure you are up to the task before they hire you.

This part of the job is really up to you. If you really want the job, you will need to start getting yourself in shape. You can start small by walking and working your way up to running and lifting weight as you get fitter.

3.You should have a college degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, or Law Enforcement. While other degrees like Accounting and Engineering qualify, there is nothing like getting a degree in a major that teaches you the basics of what you will be doing on the job.

Granted the Drug Enforcement Administration has extensive training to prepare you for the job, a degree in criminal justice, police science, or law enforcement will give you a leg up on the competition.

I have highlighted the 3 important things I believe can be your obstacle to becoming a DEA agent. There are other requirements, which I think are less important than those listed here. Covering every little requirement is beyond what I can cover in a short article like this.
Most authorities agree that there is room for improvement in business ethics. One of the most problematic questions raised in relation to business ethics is whether or not businesses can become more ethical in the real world. The majority opinion on this issue suggests that government, trade associations, and individual firms can indeed establish acceptable levels of ethical behavior.

The government can do so by legislating more stringent regulations. But, rules require enforcement and when in many cases there is evidence of lack of enforcement even the ethical businessperson will tend to "slip something by" without getting caught. Increased regulation may help, but it surely cannot solve the entire business ethics problems.

Trade associations can and often do provide ethical guidelines for their members. These organizations within particular industries are in an excellent position to exert pressures on members that stoop to questionable business practices. However, enforcement and authority vary from association to association. Moreover, exactly because trade associations exist for the benefit of their members, harsh measures may be self-defeating.

Employees can more easily determine and adopt acceptable behavior when companies provide them with a "code of ethics." Such codes are perhaps the most effective way to encourage ethical behavior. A code of ethics is a written guide to acceptable and ethical behavior that outlines uniform policies, standards and punishments for violations. Because employees know what is expected of them and what will happen if they violate the rules, a code of ethics goes a long way towards encouraging ethical behavior. However, codes cannot possibly cover every situation. Companies must also create an environment in which employees recognize the importance of complying with the written code. Managers must provide direction by fostering communication, actively modeling and encouraging ethical decision making, apart from investing in training employees to make ethical decisions.

Sometimes, even employees who want to act ethically may find it difficult to do so. Unethical practices can become ingrained in an organization. Employees with high personal ethics may then take a controversial step called "whistle blowing." Whistle blowing is informing the press or government officials about unethical practices in an organization. Whistle blowing could have averted disaster and prevented needless deaths in the Challenger space shuttle disaster, for example. How could employees have known about life-threatening problems and let them pass? Whistle blowing on the other hand, can have serious repercussions for employees; those who make waves sometimes lose their jobs. <bio>Jonathon Hardcastle writes articles for http://universeofjobs.com/ - In addition, Jonathon also writes articles for http://businessworldnow.net/ and http://yourealestatesource.com/ </bio>

In recent years, dogs have become an intricate part of law enforcement. Dog training for law enforcement purposes is critical in preparing them for their role in law enforcement. This type of training will have your canine performing more then

basic guard duties, security, protection or agility exercises. In law enforcement your k9 duties are very clear, and the training program is designed to assist them in performing their duties to their best ability. All k-9 breeds have a unique sense of smell; dog training can hone those skills to find anyone whether it is a hundred yards away or in a place that no one would think to look.

Police canine training is very rigid because the dogs will be dealing with life and death situations. They are trained to find

evidence at a crime scene, or to find lost or missing people miles away from where they were last seen. Dog training also teaches the dogs how to handle any type of disturbance including

domestic.

There are many duties that a police dog must perform to be a viable part of police units, and the right training is critical.

One of the toughest duties on a police dog is a search and rescue mission. Another of their most dangerous duties is the detection of drugs and explosive equipment. These two situations require that the police dog be highly trained and responsive to voice commands. This would also include the proper level of obedience so the canine barks, bites and will attack only when instructed and not because of a hostile situation. Professional law enforcement trainers from the top training schools believe that one police dog is equal to ten policemen.

The key to training a police dog effectively is that the dog and the handler must be compatible. If there is no chemistry between them, then the training will not be effective. A handler must connect with the dog, using a mix psychology, sternness, and understanding. The handler is the person who trains the dog; he or she also will be on duty with the dog so establishing trust is very important.

When a dog is being trained, a bond develops between handler and dog that reinforces the behavior that is to be expected from the dog. Some professionals disagree on the issue of using a collar during certain phases of the training. Whether or not this is true about the issue of using collars during training an agreed issue is that the handler must be able to see the potential that the dog has and what its strong traits are and work to develop them. Using positive reinforcement will make sure that the dog understands what the handler wants.

Dog training is not difficult if you understand your dog. In fact as you constantly and consistently vest time and energy into the training of your canine it will pay off. By constantly

rewarding him or her for behaving correctly it will encourage the dog to continue striving for excellence.

There are other aspects of dog training as well; these include food, exercise and protecting them from danger while training. By providing a well-rounded training program, you will have a police dog that will be highly motivated to doing his or her job because they have a natural instinct to please their owners. When you follow a dog-training plan, you are nurturing your dog's natural abilities to become the best. <bio>Orlando Smith makes it easy to perform effective dog training, quickly and easily.
The DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) is an agency of the Justice Department. They are a federal law enforcement agency. You might see this type of law enforcement being shown on Spike TV under the title "DEA". If you get a chance, check it out. It will enlighten you about what a DEA agent does and the gritty nature of this premier unit.

The main mission of a Drug Enforcement Administration agent is to enforce the controlled substance laws and to bring to justice those who violate those laws by growing, manufacturing or distributing illicit controlled substances. There is no glamour in this type of career, but it is very rewarding to those who put their lives on the line to keep the flow of illegal drugs off the streets and out of the hands of adults and children.

What does it take to become a DEA Agent?

Those who want to apply for a position with the DEA will need to have some experience with law enforcement or the legal system. The DEA will only accept the most outstanding applicants because this agency is constantly being challenged to keep our country safe.

If you want to become a Drug Enforcement Administration agent, you will need to have a better understanding of what it takes to join this elite group. You will find that people with bachelor's or master's degree have a better chance of being considered.

Having a criminal justice degree or past experience as a police officer will give you an advantage over the other applicants. If you are fluent in another language such as Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese or Russian, then you are among the most sought after candidates.

What does it take to get a DEA Agent job?

The requirements to obtain a coveted position with the DEA are as follows. You need to be a United States citizen, you will need to be over 21 years of age but not older than 37. There will be a medical exam that includes a physical; if you have a hearing aide, it will disqualify you from the test.

There will also be a psychological and in-depth interview session. Your past drug use will need to be explained. This is not grounds for dismissal but very important because you will be given a polygraph test. You will have to take a drug test and a background investigation will need to be passed in order to gain employment with the DEA.

These tests may take up to 12 months to complete. If you pass all the required tests you will be trained for 16-weeks at the DEA training academy in Quantico, Virginia.

There you have! The only thing to add is that you start early in the application process. Give yourself at least 12 months from the date you apply to the date you will start work.

I must also add that you do more research on the DEA agent career. You need to visit websites that cover the profession in more detail.
A good place to start your search for <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/pomeranian+breeders" rel="tag">Pomeranian breeders is in the registries on the Internet. It is always a good idea to ask your vet about Pomeranian breeders and you may want to check the breeders out with local law enforcement as well. Talking to the different Pomeranian breeders is also an important step in choosing the right one.

So you and your family have talked it over and have decided it is time to get a new pet. You have also decided on not just any old pet, you and your family want a Pomeranian. The next step is to locate reputable Pomeranian breeders in your area that you can talk to and get your pet from. Take your time and do your research because a breeder is someone you will be in contact with for many years about the health of your pet.

You can start your search on the Internet by looking up the different national breeder registries that are available. You may recognize the American Kennel Club as one of the more popular registries but there are others as well. A breeder that is listed with a registry is committed to following that registry's guidelines for proper breeding. If a breeder is not listed with a registry then it is difficult to tell what standards they follow and that could be a problem.

Your vet is a great resource for information that is helpful in the choosing of any of the Pomeranian breeders you are considering. Your vet is just as involved and interested in the health of your pet as you are and they will let you know if they have any reservations about any dog you may be considering. If you do not yet have a vet then the breeder choosing process is a great time to start up a relationship with one.

If you ask the local law enforcement officials about the breeders you are considering they may have some information for you. If your local law enforcement officials have negative information about a breeder you are considering then it may be a good idea to stop considering that breeder. When it comes to decisions that impact your family there is no step too extreme so ask your local law enforcement about breeders you are considering.

A good step in choosing among prospective Pomeranian breeders is to talk to the breeders themselves and gauge their personalities. It is extremely important that you feel like you can talk to your breeder because you will be dealing with them for years to come. If something about a particular breeder strikes you as being someone you do not want to deal with then consider not buying from that breeder. It is okay to make this a very personal decision.

Choosing the right breeder can mean the difference between years of happiness with a new pet or years of the aggravation that can come from dealing with a dishonest breeder. Take your time and do your research so you know what warning signs to look for in a bad breeder and then you can avoid that breeder for the good of your future pet and for the good of your family. <bio>Rosie Allan is a member of the American Kennel Club and participates in many charitable events for local animal rescue groups.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is a U.S. Department of Labor organization devoted to the health and safety of American workers. They offer various tactics to reduce MSD's (musculoskeletal disorders) in the workplace. Their Outreach and Assistance program, designed to interface with workers directly, is one of four in their "four-pronged" approach to aiding the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace. The other aspects of the "four-pronged" approach are: Guidelines, Enforcement and the National Advisory Committee.

Ergonomics is the science of designing and maintaining products, machines and work environments that cause the least stress upon the human body and result in the fewest instances of injury and discomfort. The four prongs of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's approach to ergonomic safety have different areas of focus. The Enforcement branch has to do with the inspections carried out by this and other organizations to assure that work environments are as safe as they can be. When they find organizations that violate standards of ergonomic safety they alert authorities and attempt to alter the situation. The National Advisory Committee branch controls the applications of research related to the study of ergonomics. The Guidelines branch develops industry specific guidelines based on statistics related to ergonomic industries in the workplace. Finally, the Outreach and Assistance branch helps businesses, small and large alike, identify and apply good practices in ergonomics to their workplaces to increase the safety and comfort of their employees.

OSHA releases studies on specific industries to help those industries create a more ergonomically satisfying environment for their employees. One such industry is the Retail Grocery industry. They first identified some of the risks particularly associated with employment in the Retail Grocery industry, specifically, force, repetition, awkward posture and static postures. OSHA maintains that these factors dramatically increase the chances of the Retail Grocery employee of serious injuries and illnesses such as, muscle strains and back injuries, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, rotator cuff injuries, Epicondylitis and trigger finger. OSHA identifies certain activities, such as stacking shelves, that place employee's bodies in awkward positions that they must maintain for a period of time. Some of their solutions are as simple as the following, related to icing produce. They recommend a better ice machine that takes the stress of scooping and loading ice away from the worker by letting gravity and the ice machine pour ice into buckets on a cart below the machine. In this way, the ice is ready to be transported when the worker approaches the machine, cutting any bending, scooping and lifting the employee might otherwise have had to perform and making the overall experience more physically pleasant. <bio>Leon Groom writes about http://www.ergo-items.com/keyboards.htm, http://www.ergo-items.com/keyboards/split/ergosplit.htm and http://www.ErgoLance.com </bio>

It is said that real learning starts at the graduate level of education. At this level, you are required to do more in-depth research and study. Society expects more out of you.

But are there benefits for the individual that embarks on this level of study? The answer is indeed yes. In this article, I discuss the benefits of getting a graduate masters degree in criminal justice.

With no particular importance attached to the order of presentation, they are:

1. A master's degree in criminal justice prepares you for leadership, administrative, and management positions in the criminal justice system. You will become a leader, administrator, and manager of such criminal justice systems as the courts, correctional facilities, law enforcement organizations, private and public security organizations.

This gives you the power to chart the direction of such organizations. You will set the pace for other criminal justice personnel. You will be looked upon to set ethical standards and develop new methods of tackling criminal justice problems and issues.

This is just reward for attaining this level of education. It is a position and benefit that should not be taken lightly. The right person will use it to become an agent of change for the good of society.

2. It goes without saying that being leader, administrator, and manager of criminal justice organizations comes with the benefit of more money. A master degree holder makes $61,000 per year to start. This is compared to about $58,000 per year for a bachelor degree holder. When you attain the leadership position I discussed above, you stand to make well over $100,000 per year. A master degree in criminal justice does indeed have its rewards.

3. A masters degree in criminal justice gives you the opportunity to specialize in one area of criminal justice. While a bachelor degree program is broad in nature, a master degree program gives you the chance to become an expert in one area of criminal justice.

For example, you can get a masters degree in criminal justice with specialization in corrections. Your research and study will give you the opportunity to do in-depth study and analysis of the correctional system. Needless to say, with this type of in-depth study, you will come to be an expert in corrections.

This will put you in a position to benefit as your opinion is sought in issues relating to corrections. You maybe called to give your expert opinion in legal and legislative issues concerning corrections. You can make money as a consultant in such situations.

There you have it=85..the benefits of getting a masters degree in criminal justice. What I have outlined above is by no means exhaustive. There are other benefits to getting this degree. Covering all of them is beyond what I can do in this short article. If you are still interested in finding out more benefits of getting a master degree in criminal justice, I urge you to look into it some more. You can do this by visiting websites that deal with the subject in more detail.

Note: You are free to reprint or republish this article.
Email has become vital to business communication and operations. Today, more than 90 per cent of workers cannot function as effectively, or at all, without email. Although widely used as a business tool, many uses of email within the workplace are not always for business purposes. Here are seven steps for determining acceptable use and how to implement a policy in your company.

So, with the popularity of email and the Internet, how can organizations determine appropriate use for business purposes? What are the risks associated with the receipt and dissemination of unsecured, potentially harmful information? How can organizations ensure the productivity gains expected from this technology?

What's at risk?

Email and the Internet can be used to transmit, store or receive unwanted, discriminatory, abusive, obscene, legal or otherwise inappropriate content. This can cause offense to staff and customers, and result in not only costly lawsuits but also criminal prosecution. Without encryption, highly confidential information is also at risk. Data such as company trade secrets, new product design plans and sensitive customer or employee information can be distributed internally or externally. And this can cost organizations millions of dollars in lost revenue as well as customers.

While content security and encryption solutions are important; education of staff is critical. An Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) helps to educate all staff on the correct and secure approach to messaging and browsing.

Acceptable Use - Education is Key

One of the first steps for any organization looking to implement an acceptable use policy is to inform employees of their responsibilities and rights regarding the use of company network resources.

Email and web access are business tools and it is important that staff know that there is no privacy for anything created, stored, sent or received on their computers. Staff education and written policy provides a number of benefits, including:

Limited liability if you face litigation over staff misuse

An enforceable Acceptable Use Policy

Voluntary compliance (keep in mind that no filtering technology provides 100% security)

Heightened awareness to prevent accidental virus intrusions or confidentiality breaches

So what should an acceptable use policy look like?

Seven steps of acceptable use:

1. Allow limited personal use of the Internet and email. 2. Outline what is acceptable and what is not; while preserving company culture. 3. Be consistent with enforcement and setting precedents. 4. All email should be identified with a recognized name or email address - avoid spoofing. 5. Copyright - inform staff on copyright issues relating to email or Internet documents - it all belongs to the company, and the company is liable. 6. Monitoring and enforcement as well as timeframes need to be clearly stated in the policy. 7. Reserve the right to monitor all messages/files on the company network.

How can you enforce all of this?

A comprehensive secure email and Internet management solution that integrates content filtering, compliance, secure messaging and archiving for businesses is required. Our solutions protect networks, business assets and employees from incoming, outgoing and internal email and Internet content threats. An organization can restrict, block, copy, archive and automatically manage the sending and receiving of content.
Are you a parent with a child whom you think have cerebral palsy? Do you want to learn more about the disorder?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then joining a Cerebral Palsy Association in your area may be the right choice you can make. Cerebral Palsy Associations are not-for-profit organization that reaches out to people who has children with Cerebral Palsy.

Almost all parts o the United States have these kinds of organization so you won't have any difficulty finding one to join in. They offer support, and also information about the cerebral palsy. Some Cerebral Palsy Associations can even help you with the treatment cost. They can do this through financial support by organizing a charity for Cerebral Palsy patients.

They sometimes host a charity event to raise cash in order to help people parents with cerebral palsy children with their therapy. Therapy for cerebral palsy can be very expensive. So, if you are a parent who wants treatment for your child who has cerebral palsy, you can seek help in these organizations.

However, you can also join these organizations even if you don't have children who have cerebral palsy. You can simply join a Cerebral Palsy Association to help with their charity work.

Some Cerebral Palsy Associations are integrated with other Cerebral Palsy Association in the United States. Information about these organizations is often posted in the internet for easier access and to gather more members. You can contact their office by emailing them.

Always remember that joining these kinds of organizations is voluntary. So, there is no pressure whether you will join or not. If you think you can cope with the illness on your own, then you probably don't need to join these kinds of organizations. However, if you are in need of support, you can always turn to these organizations who will happily give it to you.

You can also join as a volunteer to help the organization with the charity events that will raise money for cerebral palsy patients. This is a great way to help.

The events included will depend on the plan of the organization. Some organization will hire a famous music artist and ask them to do a live performance to raise money, some host bingo events, and some even gaming events. These organizations really work hard to help people cope with cerebral palsy, especially the parents. They help them financially and they also help them emotionally. This is a great way to obtain support if you can't carry the burden anymore. <bio>This content is provided by Low Jeremy. It may be used only in its entirety with all links included.
Make sure the Shar Pei breeder you are dealing with is listed with a national breeding agency. It would be a good idea to check the information available with local law enforcement and the Better Business Bureau on your Shar Pei breeder. Always check with your vet when searching for a Shar Pei breeder.

When the time has come to get your new Shar Pei dog you will more than likely find yourself looking for a good Shar Pei breeder. Some people say they are a Shar Pei breeder but in reality they are just faking their way through it and have no idea how to properly breed and raise Shar Pei dogs. There are questions you can ask and things you can do to tell if you are dealing with a bad Shar Pei breeder or not and you should always do your research for your own good.

Always ask what national breeding registry the Shar Pei breeder is listed with. A national breeding registry will indicate what breeding standard they use and what kind of quality they look for in their dogs. If a breeder is not listed with a national breeder registry then ask why and also ask what they use for a breeding standard so you can find out how they gauge the quality of the dogs they sell.

Check with local law enforcement about the Shar Pei breeder you are considering just in case they have had any run-ins with the law in the recent past. It is always a good idea to check with law enforcement because you can never tell just by looking at someone if they are dishonest or not. Chances are that if a particular breeder has had a run in with the law then they are probably not a breeder that you want to be doing this very important business with.

Most reputable businesses are listed with the Better Business Bureau and you can do a quick internet search on the Better Business Bureau website to see if the Shar Pei breeder you are considering has ever had any complaints lodged against them regarding their business practices and if those complaints were answered. If you see a lot of business complaints then move on because you are not dealing with a real professional breeder.

As with any other situation regarding your pet your vet can be a great help in weeding out the fake Shar Pei breeder that you may be considering. Your vet can give you guidelines to use in your search and may even be able to offer an opinion or two about the breeders you are considering. Always listen to the advice of your vet, as they are just as concerned with your pet's health and well being as you are.

Finally you should talk to the breeder yourself and get a feel for how they run their business when whether or not they seem to know what they are talking about. It does not take much to realize that someone does not know their business and when you are making an important decision like deciding on a Shar Pei breeder then you need to ask a lot of tough questions. <bio>Melissa Coleman often talks to animal rescue groups, keeping them informed about proper breeding methods. You can find information on detecting fake http://www.sharpeiguide.com/Shar_pei_Breeders/index.php Shar Pei breeders in this article.
Many law enforcement candidates react to reading comprehension questions by thinking, "This part of the test is going to really slow me down." And, to a degree this part of the test will slow you down. However, if you follow the strategies described in this article you will be able to complete your test at a steady pace and gain valuable points.

Most police entrance exams emphasize reading comprehension. Why? Because to properly perform their jobs, law enforcement officers are expected to understand and comprehend what they read.

Reading comprehension questions will typically be based on one or more situational paragraphs, or require a candidate to determine the proper course of action to take based on reading police rules and procedures.

Firstly, I would suggest you do a lot of reading before taking the test. Newspaper and magazine articles can improve your concentration and your ability to understand what you read. Read with purpose. Underscore details and ideas that appear crucial to the meaning of the articles. Identify the writer's point of view and their supporting information. When you finish with an article, summarize it. Ask yourself, what was the author's purpose in writing the article? What was the main idea. What was the article's focus, key information and words?

Another suggestion is to take practice law enforcement exams. The best practice exams will include reading comprehension sections taken directly from actual exams used by law enforcement agencies.

Here are seven proven strategies to help you pass the reading comprehension part of the law enforcement written exam:

1. Skim the answers before reading the passage. This will let you know what to look for while reading. As you read the passage, mark or circle anything that answers a question. Continue reading that passage until you're done. Don't answer the question until you've read the entire passage because you'll break your concentration.

2. Ask yourself after you read a paragraph, "What exactly did that paragraph say?" Spend a couple of seconds summarizing the contents of the paragraph. While doing this look at the paragraph to help you remember where important information is located.

3. Without fail there will be one or more questions asking you to identify the main idea. Usually a passage will have a few sentences stating the author's main idea. While reading, underline these sentences. This will save you valuable time.

4. Underline key words, phrases and facts, such as dates, names and events.

5. If you are totally confused by a sentence or phrase in the passage, read the sentence before and after the difficult sentence to clarify its meaning. If you're still confused, move on. Don't dwell too long or you'll lose valuable time.

6. Try to visualize by forming a mental picture of the events described in the passage as you read. When you are able to visualize something, it's easier to comprehend.

7. Answer the questions based on the information in the passage, not prior knowledge. If you don't agree with something stated in the passage this is not the time to argue your point. Remember your goal is to get the highest score. In this part of the test, you are being tested on your ability to read and comprehend, not your knowledge of the subject.

Do's and Don'ts

Do read actively, not passively. Pause briefly after each paragraph to think about the points made by the author. Jot down a brief outline as you go.

Don't get too concerned with details as you read a passage, especially long passages. Just take notes of where the details were in the passage. You can quickly list statistics, numbers, dates, names titles, etc.

Do pay attention to the passage structure. Is it organized chronologically, by comparison of two or more arguments, or was there some other classification system? This will help you locate details later.

Do summarize the passage. Take a few seconds to recap the main idea of the passage. This may help you answer several questions quickly.

In summary, if you follow these simple tips and strategies you will find reading comprehension test questions far easier to answer correctly. Remember read with purpose. By far the most effective method to help you hone your skills and build your confidence, besides reading newspaper and magazine articles, is to take actual practice exams used by law enforcement agencies. <bio>For more than 290 practice exam questions based on real exams used by police agencies throughout the country with instruction and detailed answer explanations for fast, focused learning, and to discover the three reasons why 70% of all police applicants fail the written exam visit: ... http://www.policeexam911.com </bio>

Any Shar Pei breeders that are not listed on the national breeder registries may not be breeders you want to talk to. If you need detailed information on local Shar Pei breeders then try your vet or local law enforcement. You can also use the Internet in your search through Shar Pei breeders.

You and your family have decided that the dog of your choice is the Shar Pei and now that you have decided what dog to get you need to go hunting for Shar Pei breeders. Always be looking to get as many Shar Pei breeders to talk to as possible because you want choices when making an important decision such as this. Sometimes it is worth the one-hour drive to make sure you get your family pet from a reputable breeder as opposed to walking across the street to deal with the wrong breeder.

The first thing you always want to find out is if a breeder is listed with any of the national breeder registries that you will find on the Internet. Ask the breeder what registry they are listed with and then confirm it for yourself. If they are not listed with a registry then ask them what standards they adhere to and what guidelines they run their business by if they are not using nationally recognized standards and guidelines.

You can never underestimate the value of the information that your vet has to offer and there is no better time to talk to your vet, or start a conversation with one, than during the process of weeding out bad Shar Pei breeders. If your vet has a strongly negative opinion about any of the Shar Pei breeders you are considering then you may want to move on and consider other breeders. Your vet only wants to see you get the best pet you can so their advice is a great resource.

It never hurts to cover all of your bases and check on a Shar Pei breeder with the local law enforcement officials. A breeder may seem okay on the surface but a quick check with the police could reveal someone that you would never want to buy a family pet from. So always do your homework and cover all of your bases by discussing your list with the local law enforcement officials.

For some reason people always look at the Internet as a way of only getting national and international information. The Internet is a great way to get any kind of information and you can use the Internet to help you weed out the bad Shar Pei breeders in your area. Sometimes people that have exceptionally bad experiences with breeders will post about that somewhere on the Internet for everyone to read. You can save yourself a lot of aggravation you do not need to go through if you just take the time to search the Internet.

Searching for a breeder is an important search and your final decision is very important to your family and your future pet so take your time and utilize all of your resources before you make your final decision. You can save yourself a lot of time if you just use the information available to you to eliminate breeders that are not worth talking to. <bio>Melissa Coleman is often found helping out at the local animal rescue group..
