Bathroom accessories can make or break a bathroom's decor. Bathroom accessories come in many styles. Bathroom accessories come in many colors. The careful shopper will take time to choose both the right style and the right color.

Bathroom accessories in lavender are an example. Lavender bathroom accessories can be had in a variety of styles and a variety of hues. You can find bathroom accessories in dainty lavender flowers on pristine white ceramic. You can find bathroom accessories in lavender wicker with chrome, brass, or bronze bases.

As you seek out bathroom accessories in lavender, you will want to ask yourself several questions. These will help you zero in on what you really want before you begin shopping.

1. Color: There are many shades of lavender. Visit a paint store and find the shade you wish to feature. Are you looking for lavender blue or lavender green? You may remember the old lullaby lyrics that begin with the words, "Lavender's blue, dilly dilly, lavender's green. When you are king, dilly dilly, I shall be queen." You may want to copy out the lyrics and frame them for your bathroom wall. Set a theme with them, and combine bathroom accessories in lavender blues and lavender greens.

2. Style: Do you want bathroom accessories in lavender flowers, or in abstract swirls? Do you prefer simple, clean lines, or more ornate designs? Do you enjoy retro purple lavender or watery, pearl lavender?

Think about the color of your walls and floor before you make decisions on your bathroom accessories. Remember the secret to ideal color combinations: the 60-30-10 rule. Use about 60 percent of one dominant color in your bath decor. Use 30 percent of a lesser color. Use only 10 percent of your accent color.

In this case, lavender bathroom accessories will probably comprise your ten percent of accent color. The lavender should go well with the dominant and lesser colors on walls, floors, and fixtures.

Bathroom Accessories in Lavender Flowers

If you prefer flowers, you might want to look for lavender/purple flowers such as the following on bathroom accessories.

1. Lavender itself =96 flowers from the herb 2. Lavender iris 3. Lavender and yellow pansies 4. Lavender wisteria 5. Lavender lupine

Other Bathroom Accessories in Lavender

Lavender bathroom accessories are available in more than just flowers.

Dragonflies are often depicted in lavender on shower curtains, toothbrush holders, soap dishes, dispensers, and other bathroom accessories.

Whimsical cherubs in lavender, gold, and white are featured in some bathroom accessories. In others, these colors appear on the gossamer gowns and wings of woodland fairies.

Plain lavender bathroom accessories are readily available. The color and style are simple and cooling. They blend well with most bath decors.

Towels and rugs in lavender should match or closely complement the hues used in your other bathroom accessories.

Budget Bathroom Accessories in Lavender

Your budget will go further if you shop garage sales and thrift stores for bathroom accessories in lavender shades. You might want to be creative by selecting objects such as a lavender tumbler or simple vase for a toothbrush holder. Add a lavender dessert dish to hold your soap.

Helpful Tip

When using bathroom accessories in lavender, include a lovely bouquet of dried lavender. Its cool color and relaxing aroma can quickly turn your bath into a luxury retreat. <bio>=A92007, Anna Hart.
There are many types of oils used in relation to aromatherapy, all different in order to achieve different effects. Aromatherapy oils are most commonly divided into several different categories. These categories include:

* essential oils * absolutes * floral waters (hydrosols) * resins * carrier oils * infused oils

Lavender oil aromatherapy falls into the first category listed, the essential oils category.

Lavender oil aromatherapy is a liquid most often distilled from the purple blossoms of the lavender plant, or also known as lavendula officinalis. Lavender oil is usually extracted by using a delicate process involving water or steam. Being extracted this way, lavender oil aromatherapy most often captures the absolute essence of the lavender plant itself. It is normally so highly concentrated that a few drops is all that is necessary to reap lavender oil's full therapeutic benefits.

The appearance of lavender oil is normally clear, with just a hint of yellow. With it being called lavender oil, one may think it is an oily substance. However, despite it's name, lavender oil aromatherapy is not oily. To the contrary, the consistency of lavender oil aromatherapy is one of the thinnest among all of the other essential oils.

Because the consistency of lavender oil aromatherapy is so thin, the smell of this scent only goes to a medium level. However, once the medium scent starts to settle in the air, lavender oil aromatherapy can be one of the most relaxing scents there is. It is not too strong, and it is not too light. Lavender oil aromatherapy smells very fresh, as well as sweet, with just a twist of a floral aroma. Some people think lavender oil also smells a little fruity.

As with most aromatherapy oils, lavender oil aromatherapy is most often used by diluting it with carrier oils. These carrier oils can include:

* sweet almond oil * apricot kernel oil * grape seed oil

Once the oils are blended, they are usually applied to the skin for the best adsorbtion.

In addition to applying lavender oil aromatherapy to the skin, it may also be used by careful inhalation. Once the lavender oil molecules enter the lungs, these oils can then be absorbed into the bloodstream. This will provide you with the therapeutic benefits you need to soothe whatever ailments you may be experiencing.

There are a wide variety of ailments that lavender oil aromatherapy may help treat. Some of these health issues can include:

* acne * allergies * anxiety * asthma * athlete's foot

Lavender oil aromatherapy can also help treat ailments such as bruises, burns, colic and chicken pox. Those with cuts, who are suffering with depression, or have an earache may also benefit from the therapeutic benefits of lavender oil aromatherapy. Other possible uses for this healthy oil can include headache treatment, treatment of hypertension, as an insect repellant, to relieve itching, to help reduce labor pains, to treat oily skin, skin scarring, stretch marks, as well as to treat whooping cough. <bio>Sarah Thomas provides articles on wellness and health http://www.aromatherapy-zine.com.
Herbs can be used for a number of reasons, and this applies with lavender. One of the world's most cherished herbs, lavender is famed as much for its soothing properties as it is for its colour. In fact, you might just find lavender has more uses than you thought.

Lavender environment

Surviving in arid climates naturally, lavender is a member of the mint family, and is a small shaggy shrub with trademark blue/grey flowers, growing in whorls. Lavender flowers through the summer into autumn (June to August), and is found naturally in the rich, warm soils of the Mediterranean. Lavender is renowned in the region for its sweet aroma and calming agents, and has been used for thousands of years for its sedative properties.

How to Use Lavender

Common lavender, or lavandula angustifolia, is thought to be one of the most versatile herbs, and is used in thousands of cosmetic and beauty products across the world. Its oils can be used to moisturise the skin, and provide a sweet perfume for beauty products. Additionally, lavender is also used for medicinal purposes, given its calming and soothing abilities, making it an all-round valuable herb for home use. Having trouble sleeping? Headaches? Painful bites or sores? Lavender would be an extremely useful herb to resolve these conditions.

Lavender is used primarily for its strong, perfumed scent. Dried lavender can be used in pot-pourri and other fragrant room fresheners, as well as perfumes and lotions. On top of that, lavender oils can be used for soothing and relaxing in a number of circumstances, and are implemented in mainstream, as well as alternative treatments for several conditions. Insect bites and stings can be quickly and effectively eased by topically smothering in lavender oils, as can burns and scolds. When applying, it is important to make sure high concentrations of oils don't penetrate broken skin, as this can lead to further irritation and discomfort.

Migraine and insomnia sufferers can also benefit from lavender to sooth their pains, and help ensure a better nights sleep. In fact, applying lavender oil to the bed sheets is said to be a great way of ensuring a thorough good rest, given its relaxing scent and sleep-inducing properties.

For soothing exhaustion or migraines, lavender oils can be infused in a warm bath to help relaxation. By adding the oils to a running bath, the beneficial ingredients are allowed to properly fuse through the bathwater, ensuring the effectiveness of the treatment. Additionally, the lavender steam helps clear the airways and clear the head, leaving you ready for anything. Why not try keeping lavender in a small Hessian bag beneath your pillow, for a fragrant and relaxing sleep?

Cooking with Lavender

Alternatively, lavender can be used as an ingredient in cooking, as can any other herb. Lavender is particularly complimentary when cooking lamb and other meats. Its flavours tend to fit in well with tender meats and delicate sides, in addition to its aesthetic appeal on the plate. For something a bit different, try lavender with un-smoked, grilled fished. Alternatively, lavender also fits nicely with boiled new potatoes to add more depth and flavour. <bio> http://www.naturalherbalism.com/L/Lavender.html </bio>

I live an alternative lifestyle. It's nothing radical or rebellious. I'm a work at home mom, over forty with a toddler. At this point in my life I expected to have a bustling career and grown kids either out of the house or about ready to leave the nest, but life doesn't always turn out the way we're told it should -- stuff happens; stressful situations pop up everyday, either caused by us or 'for' us.

How do I 'treat' these situations and still care for my mind and body without loosing it? There's where the other component of my alternative lifestyle comes in -- aromatherapy. Aromatherapy, or 'treating with scents', is huge and growing in the area of alternative medicines, and is used in hospitals and homes to treat anything from labor pains to cardiac rehab. Although used in other countries for centuries, aromatherapy is making its way into the everyday lives of people around the US. People like myself, potentially stressed out work at home moms.

If you're new to the idea of using aromatherapy to help reduce the stress in your life, then start with something simple such as a lavender bath or other lavender essential oil product. Here is a simple and wonderful recipe that you can try at home in your bath before bed.

Lavender Calming Bath Crystals

1 cup Epsom salts 10 drops Lavender essential oil 1 drop food coloring Shake all ingredients in a Ziploc bag until coated. Store in a bottle or bag.

Another wonderful way to use aromatherapy to relieve stress is to apply a lovely lavender scented body lotion to your sore aching muscles. Apply this easy to mix lavender lotion after your bath, or if you're lucky enough to have a partner who is willing, request a relaxing massage before bed. The calming scent of lavender works for fussy babies, why not stressed moms? Here is a simple recipe for a lavender lotion that you'll love.

Lovely Lavender Lotion

1 oz. glycerin 2 tsp. oil of lavender Put ingredients in a clean glass bottle and shake well. Refrigerate.

When life makes you crazy, remember, you have the power to create a calming oasis in your own home. Take a few minutes for yourself and relax. As mothers, we tend to forget that we must nurture ourselves before we can nurture our children to the best of our abilities. What better place to start than in our bath with beautiful scents, sounds and soft candlelight? Our lifestyles need not take over our lives. <bio>Sherry Frewerd publishes several websites for affiliate and direct sales promotion.
What is it?

Impetigo is a skin infection caused by the bacteria staphylococcus aureus. This infection is more common in children, though it can also affect adults. Impetigo commonly affects the area around the nose and mouth. It usually starts as a red area, which can be painful and itchy. After a day or so the infected area can become crusty with a characteristic golden color. If not treated for many days or weeks, the infection becomes more widespread. Occasionally blisters can form in areas affected by impetigo when it is called bullous impetigo.

Precautions

Impetigo is highly infectious so take appropriate precautions when handling the patient. Wash your hands after handling lesion or bandages. Dispose of used dressings to prevent re-infection. Wash towels, sheets and clothing in antibacterial detergent. Keep children out of school until successfully treated.

Treatment

Do consult your dermatologist if you suspect that you or someone in your family is suffering from impetigo. You will most probably be prescribed a dose of antibiotics to help cure the symptoms of this disease. In addition, you may also want to try a course of aromatherapy. Aromatherapy has proved to be very effective in the treatment of impetigo and it is completely compatible with allopathic methods of treatment that your dermatologist may recommend.

Some of the aromatherapy essential oils that are used in the treatment of impetigo are tea tree and lavender.

Tea Tree. Tea Tree oil is distilled from the leaves and branches of the Tea Tree, a small tree belonging to the myrtle family, and a native of the marshland of New South Wales. Its wide range of medicinal uses has been verified by research. Tea tree is not only a very strong antiseptic but non-toxic and non-irritant as well. It dissolves pus, leaving infected wounds clean. Essential oil of the Tea Tree can be applied locally to the infected area in the form of creams or soap. The smell of tea tree is also very refreshing and revitalizing.

Lavender

Lavender oils are distilled from the blue flowering spikes of the lavender bush, just before opening. Lavender has long been known as an antiseptic and for its skin healing properties. It also boosts the immune system. Essential oils of lavender can be applied as a face oil or lotion or as a soap. The smell of lavender has a very relaxing effect.

In addition to aromatherapy treatment for impetigo there are a few more things that you can do to speed up the cure.

- Eat a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables. - Take Zinc, Vitamin C and Vitamin A supplements daily. - Try a herbal blood purifying tablet or syrup. - Do remember to carry out all of the above treatments in consultation with your dermatologist. <bio>M.
There are so many different aromatherapy options it can be difficult to decide which aromatherapy product to use. Here are some ideas for you to try.

For the Bath: Close the doors and windows and then run a nice hot bath to the temperature you are most comfortable with. When the tub is full add 20 drops of essential oil to your tub mixing it up which will cause the scent to rise from the steamy water. Now choose the right aromatherapy product for the job:

To relax and calm =96 2 drops lavender, 2 drops bergamot, and 2 drops cedarwood. To reduce nervousness =96 6 drops geranium, 4 drops lavender, 4 drops basil. To eliminate insomnia =96 4 drops chamomile, 4 drops lavender, 3 drops neroli, 2 drops marjoram. To energize =96 3 drops rosemary, 3 drops lemon.

For The Feet After a day on your feet you come home with tired and sore feet that are so worn out you're sure you can't take another step. So which aromatherapy product do you use this time? Start by filling a container that's large enough for both of your feed with warm water then add your essential oils and sit back and relax. Try one of these Add 3 drops peppermint and 2 drops frankincense Add 3 drops peppermint and 3 drops lavender Add 3 drops Rosemary and 3 drops lemon

Massage There are several essential oils that are great for massage. You'll just need to choose the aromatherapy product you like best. Massage with essential oils will increase the healing power while also creating a calming effect or energizing effect.

For massage use essential oils diluted in a carrier oil which will give you your aromatherapy product. Almond Oil, Grape seed Oil, Olive Oil, and Sunflower Oil are all good carrier oils. Store your oil in a dark bottle. You can use a funnel to pour the oil in. For every 1 oz of carrier oil add 20 drops of essential oil and then shake well. Use your choice of oils. Lavender is great for relaxation as well as for the nerves, chamomile is excellent for insomnia, and neroli is the right choice for relaxation. In fact all of the mixes used in the bath make a good choice for a massage aromatherapy product too.

There are so many different choices. You can mix essential oils however you want. You may have favorite oils that you like to use a lot and you may also have oils you prefer not to find in the aromatherapy product you choose.

You can also purchase your favorite aromatherapy product already made rather than making up your own. There are many great sites online that offer a full line of products for the bath, massage, home, or just about anywhere else you can use an aromatherapy product.

The hardest part about buying online is deciding what aromatherapy product you want. If I were you I'd put in a nice size order and fill up your cabinet with all the products you love. Then you'll have choices to fit the mood and the moment. <bio>Get all the latest information about Aromatherapy, from the only true source at http://www.myaromatherapyinfo.com.
Dating back centuries, many people have talked about the amazing virtues of the essential oils as having healing properties. Recent studies have shown what some people have already known for over two centuries and that is the amazing benefits of an aromatherapy massage.

A recent study done in London by the Royal free any University College Medical School, used at group of independent reviewers to analyze the results of aromatherapy massage on over 1300 reference studies. Those studies showed that short-term benefits were obtained on psychological well being, supporting the positive effects on anxiety. The also found that aromatherapy massage also helped reduce nausea and pain. There are some additional studies being conducted to determine if aromatherapy Boost the effects of massage done with the essential oils.

Various Types of Oils Used

Basically, a distillation process extracting them from flowers, plants, woods and herbs obtains the essential oils used in the aromatherapy massage. These oils are all part of the plants biological makeup, as well as giving them their own unique to scent. Over the centuries and through many trials and errors, people eventually found out which oils worked best for treating certain ailments.

For example, anyone with aches and pains would benefit or from a mixture of black pepper, rosemary, fir, lavender and marjoram with their aromatherapy massage. Tendonitis can be massaged with the compound of lavender, peppermint and rosemary. Anyone with sunburn can find relief by using chamomile, peppermint, lavender and eucalyptus.

People have been using massage therapy for very long time for relaxation and stimulation. Incorporating essential oils into the massage enhances the benefits even more. There are great benefits from simply inhaling the fragrances, however, in aromatherapy massage; the benefits are even greater when the oils are massaged into the skin. With a good aromatherapy massage, the patient benefits from the oils, the massage and the scent.

If a person has poor circulation, they can enhance their circulation by using a combination of black pepper, carrot seed, Sage, lemon and thyme along with a good massage. This form of aromatherapy massage will definitely help with poor circulation.

For babies with stomachaches, try applying a mixture of dill and geranium. For any women having problems sleeping due to a pregnancy, try a light aromatherapy massage with Roman chamomile and lavender. <bio>Kerry Ng is a successful Webmaster and publisher of The Massage Blog.
Many natural and organic skincare products use essential oils as an ingredients, whilst other products are based on combinations of essential oils as their primary, or indeed only, ingredients.

Knowing that a natural or organic skincare product uses a certain essential oil is all well and good, but how can you be certain as to what properties that oil is giving the product in question? Is the fact that a cream contains bergamot oil good if you're suffering from a touch of stress, or will it simply serve to make you smell a little bit like a cup of Earl Grey tea?

Well, in fact, bergamot oil might do both. Its familiar smell helps to relax and ease tension, but the oil is actually extracted from the rind of the bergamot orange, which is what Earl Grey is flavoured with. Another oil that helps to lift the emotions is Geranium, which is sometimes used in natural and organic skincare products as a substitute for the more costly ingredient rose. As well as being useful in relaxing us when we are stressed out, Geranium essential oil is a brilliant cosmetic product; it is an excellent antiseptic that is extremely good for skin inflammations such as eczema and acne. It also helps with oil and sebum regulation, so if you're stressed about any of these conditions Geranium Essential Oil's duel properties might just work some wonders.

Lavender Essential Oil is a familiar scent that is often found in those microwavable relaxation bags and other such products. Just because it is familiar does not mean that it should be disregarded as a useful ingredient in natural and organic skincare products. As a matter of fact, Lavender Oil is one of the strongest natural antiseptics that has long since been used on burns and wounds. It is also anti-bacterial and effectively regulates sebum production.

Whilst Lavender Essential Oil is a familiar scent in perfumes and organic cosmetics products, one oil that is not is Neroli Essential Oil. Neroili has a very distinctive, citrus smell and, because it is expensive, is not found in many everyday products (in fact, finding its presence on an ingredients list is one way of knowing if a product can justify its high price tag, or better yet, whether it is a bargain). The oil is extracted from the flowers of the bitter orange tree and is excellent for mature skin due its regenerating properties. It is also extremely adept at treating stretch marks and helping to soothe skin inflammations.

Rosemary Essential Oil is often found in shampoos that help to maintain thin hair and help to prevent hair loss. Like Lavender oil, it is a scent that most of us are familiar with, but which has some perhaps unknown benefits when used in natural and organic skincare products. It is antiseptic and astringent, and therefore excellent in skincare products designed for helping to treat acne and eczema. When inhaled, the oil by itself helps to lift the mood, so all round its not a bad thing to have in a product.<bio>Matt Gammie is a writer for Scin Boutique</bio>

In Part 1 of this article, we looked at two categories of natural remedies for migraine headaches. We presented 7 nutrients and 2 means of manual therapy for migraine relief.

In Part 2, we will look at additional natural remedies you can take for migraine headaches.

Choosing a Natural Remedy for Migraine

If you choose a natural remedy for migraine treatment, you get no guarantees. One person's natural remedy for migraine may or may not work for the next person. Since prescription medications also offer no guarantees, and do have side effects, you may want to try a natural remedy for migraine. You should, of course, ask your physician for advice.

Simple Home-style Remedies

A natural remedy for migraine need not be complex. For years, people have been applying simple, home-style remedies that are FREE or low-cost. You may use any or all of these for migraine relief.

1. Sleep

This is a free natural remedy for migraine. Have the migraine sufferer lie sown in a quiet, darkened room and sleep for several hours. Sleep is the body's time for healing, and is an important factor is migraine relief.

2. Ice Pack

A second free natural remedy for migraine is a simple ice pack. Try placing a cold compress on the sufferer's head as he or she lies in a dark, quiet room. You may use a purchased ice cap filled with ice, but it is just as effective to use an unopened bag of frozen vegetables. A bag of frozen peas is especially easy to use, since it readily conforms.

3. Warm bath

A warm, soaking bath in a darkened room will often relieve migraine symptoms. Keep the water as warm as comfortable. Candlelight is sufficient, and can add to the soothing effects.

4. Epsom Salts Bath

Epsom salts is a natural mineral -- magnesium sulfate -- that is a sedative for the nerves and a muscle relaxant. Add one or two cups of Epsom salts to hot bath water and soak, keeping the water comfortably hot.

CAUTION: People with high blood pressure, kidney disease, or heart disease should not use this natural remedy for migraine.

5. Deep Breathing Sit quietly in a darkened room -- soft candlelight is fine. Take a breath, as deep as possible, and slowly, slowly exhale it. Take a second deep breath, focusing on its depth, and the feeling as your lungs expand. Slowly release the breath, focusing on the lungs contracting. Continue to breathe deeply and slowly for 5 to 10 minutes, feeling calm and relaxed.

Aromatherapy

Since no one natural remedy for migraine will work for everyone, you may want to try aroma therapy as a complement to other remedies for migraine. Aromatherapy involves inhaling essential oils, or applying them to the skin. It is important not to apply them directly to the skin, but to mix them in a "carrier" oil such as sweet almond or apricot kernel that "carry" the essence. You can mix a small amount in your hand, or mix them ahead of time in a small, roll-on bottle. 1. Lavender

Lavender oil, extracted from the small, blue-violet flowers of the lavender plant, is a calming, soothing, sedative for the nerves. You will want pure lavender oil, not a perfume or lavender-scented oil. There are several ways you can use lavender oil as a natural remedy for migraine.

Inhalation: Place 2-4 drops in 2 cups of boiling water and inhale vapors. Application: Moisten your finger tips with pure almond carrier oil. Add 2 drops of lavender essential oil, and gently massage your temples, behind each ear, and your neck.

CAUTION: Side effects are rare, but some people may develop an allergic reaction to lavender following inhalation or absorption through the skin. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid using this natural remedy for migraine.

2. Other oils

In addition to lavender, you may want to experiment with other essential oils. A few that help migraineurs are: bay, eucalyptus, jasmine, melissa, peppermint, and rosemary. Since migraineurs' attacks can be triggered by certain smells, you will want to choose the one that works best for you.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

Surprisingly, apple cider vinegar can be a natural remedy for migraine. Boil together equal parts of natural apple cider vinegar and water in an open pan. When fumes begin to rise, and become comfortably strong, inhale for 50 to 60 deep breaths.

A third article in this series will round out our consideration of natural remedies for migraine headaches. Remember that all migraine sufferers should seek professional advice before using a natural remedy for migraine. <bio>©2007, Anna Hart.
Sunburns result from too much direct sunlight. Though most people understand the importance of avoiding over-exposure to the sun, sometimes people accidentally become sunburned. This result from applying sunscreen incorrectly, or not reapplying it after prolonged sun exposure. Many people are not diligent in reapplying sunscreen after swimming and may accidentally become sunburned. Sunburns are not only painful but they can also be extremely dangerous. Too many sunburns can cause premature aging, damage the skin, and lead to skin cancer. Prevention is the most effective treatment for sunburn.

If you are suffering from a sunburn you need to realize that it is equally serious as being burned by a stove or an open fire. Like other burns, sunburns have degrees. Severe sunburns may cause the skin to develop severe blisters. It is important to treat your sunburn with the same diligence and care that you would with any serious burn. One of the most often recommended sunburn treatments is aloe vera gel. Aloe vera gel is found inside the aloe vera plant. You can harvest your own aloe vera gel by slicing open one of the plant's leaves and scraping out the aloe vera gel. This gel may be directly applied to the sunburn to provide immediate relief.

Another great sunburn remedy includes combining six drops of Peppermint oil with four drops of Lavender oil. Mix these oils together and apply directly to the sunburn. Peppermint oil has cooling properties and lavender has soothing properties for the skin. Peppermint oil or lavender oil can also be added to a base of aloe vera gel. This wonderful remedy will remove the sting of burn while also cooling and soothing the skin.

Peppermint oil and lavender oil can also be added to a nice cooling bath. Lukewarm water may be the temperature preferred by the sunburned skin, but be careful to avoid becoming chilled. Peppermint can become very cooling so if you feel that you are getting too cool, you may need to reduce the amount of peppermint oil added to your bath. Once the sunburn begins to heal, you can also include the use of lotions and oils to keep the skin well-hydrated and moist. You may continue to apply aloe vera gel, but you may want additional moisture as well. When the pain and sting of the sunburn has eased, supplement your treatment with a lotion or cream to prevent the skin from peeling and to keep it soft and supple.

It is vitally important to keep children out of direct sunlight and prevent them from getting sunburned. Make sure to regularaly apply sunscreen as directed on the bottle or tube, especially after swimming or prolonged exercise. Keep in mind that some essential oils will make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Make sure that you read all safety precautions and avoid exposure to the sun during the use of these essential oils. Also, if you are pregnant take care in choosing essential oils. The use of many essential oils may damage your unborn baby or cause premature labor. Finally, treat your essential oils with the same respect that you would prescription medicine. <bio>Susan Wilson writes for several web magazines, including http://kozem.com and http://bovep.com </bio>

Aromatherapy soap can be used in the shower or bath to create a rejuvenated or relaxed. The great thing about these soaps is that they contain therapeutic oils from plants and herbs.

A therapeutic aromatherapy soap is made from natural ingredients so it is gentle on the skin and excellent for reducing acne. It's also excellent for dry skin. In fact harsh soaps can actually be the cause of dry skin. Aromatherapy soap is also an excellent choice for sensitive skin. Try lavender.

Rosemary mint is an aromatherapy soup with rosemary and spearmint that can be used by either women or men. It's a nice choice if you are looking for a rejuvenated feeling when you're done in the shower. Add a little rose for women.

If you want a sensual aromatherapy soap that's perfect for an evening with the love of your life try patchouli, rose, and geranium. It's also a good choice for dry skin. In fact if you want a soap strictly for dry skin replace the rose with hemp seed oil.

If you've managed to get a sunburn use peppermint and aloe vera aromatherapy soap. It also brings relief for insect bites too. If you want relief from your sunburn and a soap that's calming try lemon poppy seed with peppermint. It's a great combo.

If you want an aromatherapy soap for sensitive skin or skin eczema try a lavender or lavender and hemp oil combination. You want to stay away from floral scents if you have sensitive skin as this is likely to be an irritatant.

There are plenty of other aromatherapy soaps on the market but what's important is that you purchase an aromatherapy soap made from all natural ingredients because products that have artificial or unnatural ingredients won't produce the same results.

Read carefully! Too many like to advertise their soap as natural and then in the fine print you'll find chemicals used to preserve it. That is not what you want. And if you aren't sure don't be afraid to ask.

You can buy your aromatherapy soap locally or for the best selection check what's available online. There are so many great choices. Many of the soaps sold online are home made an added bonus!

You will likely pay a little more for your aromatherapy soap but it's worth it. There is no other soap that can produce the results of these natural soaps.

If you want you can make your own aromatherapy soap. It's really quite easy. What's most important is that you have all natural ingredients to work with. Poor quality ingredients and your soap will crack or break. You an buy aromatherapy soap molds and ingredients online and then you can some fun making your own soap. Once you get real good you could even make some soap gifts.

Aromatherapy soap is a great way to take that boring shower and turn it into something extraordinaire. It's a great way to take that relaxing bath and make it a spa experience.
One of the problems with long hair is how hard it is for your hair's natural oils to get all the way down to the ends. You can help your hair feel great with a good conditioner, but oil can be really helpful.

My personal preference is to use jojoba oil. I buy it at my local natural foods store. I like to scent it with a bit of lavender oil too, since I love that scent.

It takes very, very little oil to do the job. My hair copes pretty well with being long, so I find I do best by only oiling the last few inches. If I do much more, my hair shortly looks oily, and that's not the look I'm after.

I added the lavender oil to the jojoba before using it, right in the bottle.

The thing to remember is that you hardly need any oil at all. Put a drop or two in your palm, rub your hands together and stroke your hair smoothly between your hands. Just on the ends, as I said before. It really doesn't take a lot.

If you need extra help for all your hair, try oiling the entire length of your hair before bed, and wash it out in the morning. This will give the oil time to soak in.

Of course, jojoba isn't the only oil that works well. Coconut oil is quite popular, although it has a stronger scent. Some use olive oil straight from the kitchen cabinet. If you aren't sure about putting oil in your hair, you can start with that, but a lighter oil really is better in the long run.

What does the oil do for you? It keeps your hair moist and flexible, so it doesn't break so easily. If you want your hair to grow long, that's vital.

If you do choose add a scent to your oil, make sure it is one that is safe for your hair. Some essential oils are really not good for your hair.

Oiling your long hair is one of those things where you'll feel the difference in the texture of your hair quickly, but it will take time to see a difference in how long it grows. After all, it takes a long time for hair to grow. But if you're serious about having really long hair, it's an easy step to add to your routine. <bio>Stephanie Foster enjoys the pleasure of having long hair, even when it takes a little extra effort.
If aromatherapy appeals to you, then enrolling in an aromatherapy school would be the best way to go. They will teach you how to bring about a positive change in a patients illness by using herb and plant extracts, which are called essential oils. These plant oils (essential oils) are applied to the patients body by the use of massage, this and the aroma of the oils help to to encourage a positive change in the patients mood and illness.

A perfume makers discovery:

When first starting in aromatherapy school, students will probably hear the story about how this massage therapy was discovered. In the 1920's, a French chemist who was working on new perfumes in his laboratory, accidentally set fire to his arm. He put his arm into some lavender oil to put the fire out.

The French chemist discovered that the lavender oil helped his arm to heal really fast and didn't leave a scar. So the chemist spent the rest of his life dedicated to aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy schools teach students about the different types of essential oils and what illness they help to relieve. For instance If the patient is suffering from burns, an aromatherapy student will be taught how they should use lavender oil, and also the quantity and frequency to apply it.

Many aromatherapy schools believe that aromatherapy is a science and should only be practised in a professional manner by aromatherapy school graduates. Although other schools teach the student to open up to there intuition as well. Which is seen by some as being the more balanced way.

Some doctors disapprove of aromatherapy:

There are some doctors who do not approve of aromatherapy and the aromatherapy schools that teach it. They also say that all that an aromatherapy school teaches is the ability to reduce stress. They also state that there reasons are based on the lack of any real facts or figures.

Does aromatherapy only give stress relief:

Some doctors actually agree some patients may have been helped by an aromatherapy treatment, however, they are quick to state, only because aromatherapy helped to ease their stress. For sure, stress can help to create a number of illness's and when stress is relieved, the illness is often relieved as well.

However, they also comment that aromatherapy is not as successful as traditional medicine when it comes to serious illness. This is the block aromatherapy experiences in its attempt to reach the public at large.

Many medical people such as doctors disagree with the use of aromatherapy to treat patients, however, many aromatherapy teachers agree that this therapy can help many patients with stress and illness. Whether doctors agree or not aromatherapy is becoming more and more popular in the US and the world at large, to the point where most major cities now have a aromatherapy school.

Because of this growth in popularity there are many individuals applying to be accepted in an aromatherapy school. So it seems by going to an aromatherapy massage school many doubts are being dispelled about its ability to help people with stress and illnesses. <bio>http://www.ecoholistic.com for articles, tips and information about aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy was used by the Romans, Ancient Egyptians, and Ancient Chinese. Aromatherapy is the art and science of using the scents of fragrant plants and herbs to offer physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Aromatherapy also includes infusions and bathing in fragrant oils. The Biblical Queen Esther was recorded to have bathed in various oils to soften and beautify her skin before being presented to the King. These ancient treatments are finding new popularity with modern-day people.

The mind is powerfully affected by scent. By stimulating the senses with pleasant fragrance, negative emotions and feelings will be replaced by peace and tranquility. In addition to the benefits resulting from pleasing aromas, many essential oils have inherent healing properties. These properties range from germicidal or antifungal, to fever-reducing and skin healing. Aromatherapists study various herbs and plants to become familiar with their properties. They then blend various complimenting herbs to create aromatherapy infusions, massage oils, and even candles. Aromatherapy candles are used to infuse a room with fragrance. They are a wonderful addition to either an aromatherapy massage or bath. One may select a scent that compliments or blends with a the scent of one's bath or massage, or if one prefers, one may opt for the same scent.

Today, aromatherapy candles are made not simply of parrafin but out of organic wax. If you have ever noticed black soot on your glass candle holder after burning a candle, then you have used a candle made of paraffin wax. As paraffin is petroleum- based, it is not aromatherapy appropriate. One can now choose from aromatherapy candles that are made from soy wax or Beeswax. Soy wax candles are gaining in popularity due to the fact that soy is an organic substance. A soy wax aromatherapy candle will have a clean burn. It will release your selected aromatherapy essential oil into the air without producing any soot or Petroleum-based waste. These candles are ideal for those with allergies, asthma, and other breathing problems. If you were using an aromatherapy bath for respiratory problems, it would be counterproductive to burn an aromatherapy candle that will leave pollution and residue in the same air that you are breathing. The alternative is to use aromatherapy candles made from 100% organic soy wax.

Aromatherapy has many benefits, and there are many different reasons why people choose this ancient healing art form. Relaxation and stress relief are two of the major reasons that people turn to aromatherapy. Lavender is a popular essential oil that is often used to bring the body into a state of well-being, peace, and tranquility. Lavender can also be used treat anxiety and nervousness. Lavendar can be combined with many things, such as any citrus-based herbs or oils. This includes burning a citrus-scented aromatherapy candle while soaking in a lavender bath. Lavender can also be blended with clove, eucalyptus, rosewood and rosemary to great effect. <bio>William Brown writes for several online magazines, including http://healthy-zone.com and http://online-healthy.com both about health and wellness. </bio>

When using essential oils on babies and children, it is always a good to dilute one to two drops of pure essential oils with =BD to 1 teaspoon of oil. The oils that can be used are jojoba, sweet almond oil or sunflower oil. These are just a few ideas for oils to use to mix with the pure essential oils. The oils can be used in the bath tub. Stir the water before bathing.

Most important is to keep the oils out of the children's reach. If an oil is ever ingested, give the child an oil-soluble liquid such as milk, cream or half and half. A few drops of pure essential oil shouldn't be life threatening, but it is wise to take precautions.

There are twenty oils that are safe for children. Keep an eye out for my next article for more great uses for essential oils. Always use a pure essential oil. Never use synthetic oil as you can run into allergic reactions.

Colic: combine 2 tablespoons of Almond oil with one drop Chamomile (Roman), one drop of Lavender, and one drop of Geranium. Mix together and apply on the stomach and back. Keep the stomach warm with a warm water bottle while burping the baby. This will often bring relief.

Common cold: Combine two tablespoons almond oil with two drops Melaleuca oil (tea Tree), one Lemon, one Rose Otto.
The cure for the common cold may be a long way off, but thankfully through modern medicine and through the many alternative therapies that are available the cold virus can be fought off quite easily.

If you are one of the many people that prefer natural remedies, why not try aromatherapy? Aromatherapy can be a very effective alternative to modern medicines and the drugs that will be prescribed by many doctors and by following some simple aromatherapy techniques, you can fight back against the cold virus and make the symptoms of a cold more bearable.

The first steps to feeling better is to choose the right aromatherapy oils for the job. This is where many people struggle, as there are hundreds if not thousands of essential oils to choose from. Listed below are a few of the most popular and effective aromatherapy oils that can be used to treat the cold virus.

Eucalyptus oil is a one of the most popular oils in cough and cold remedies; it has excellent decongestant properties, making it ideal for the treatment of flu, coughs and colds.

Peppermint is also a wonderful oil to use as it is nearly one third menthol which makes it a great oil for clearing head colds. Many people will recognize the healing properties of menthol as this ingredient is used in many modern medicines such as Vicks Vaporub.

Lavender essential oil is the oil to choose if your cold is preventing a good night's sleep. Used just before bedtime in a warm bath, the Lavender will relax you ready for bed, as well as healing with its powerful antiseptic properties.

There are many other oils that can be used to treat the common cold, but these are some of the most popular and are an ideal starting point if you are new to aromatherapy.

Now you have selected your oils, you need to know how to use them. There are many ways of using these essential oils, but the most effective way of treating coughs and colds, is through steam inhalation. Inhalation is also one of the simplest ways of using essential oils.

To prepare a steam inhalation simply add a few drops of aromatherapy oil to a bowl of boiling water, cover your head with a towel, bend over the bowl and deeply inhale for several minutes. This method will give the best results in the shortest time. Both Peppermint and Eucalyptus are very effective when used in this way.

Another great way of using the oils is in a warm bath. Simply add up to ten drops of oil to your bath, the water will relax you and the healing properties of the oils will get to work on your cold. An excellent recipe for your therapeutic bath is 3 drops of Eucalyptus, 3 drops of Lavender and 3 drops of Peppermint.

By following these simple methods, the symptoms of your cold should soon start to fade and you should start to feel your old self again. <bio>Emma writes about using Aromatherapy in your daily life and runs several Aromatherapy websites.
Nearly 33% of men are affected by puffy nipples. When trying to find a solution for the problem it is first important to understand what causes puffy nipples in the first place. Most cases of puffy nipples are caused by a person's genetic makeup. Although in some cases lifestyle factors may play a role. There is no clear-cut answer as to what exact genetic factors may contribute to puffy nipples among males, however it is generally agreed upon that the hormone levels as a result of the individuals genetic makeup are the primary determinant in cases of puffy nipples.

Hormones play a very important role as a cause behind puffy nipples. Whatever the cause either genetic makeup or lifestyle factors it is the hormones themselves, or more specifically the changes in the hormones that result in the puffy nipples. So really when looking at what causes puffy nipples, the real question is what causes (or attributes to) hormonal imbalances and disturbances.

When examining what causes puffy nipples in pre-adolescent boys one needs to look at the household cleaning products, and hygiene products employed by the family. If any of these products (be at face watch, laundry detergent, or even bath oils) contain the essential oil of lavender the child is at risk for developing puffy nipples. It is not well understood why lavender oil triggers this response in preadolescent boys, but the fact is well documented. Should the child have ever been exposed to lavender oil and is experiencing puffy nipples, simply removing the lavender oil from the household will fix the problem and the puffy nipples will soon go away.

Puffy nipples are quite common among adolescents, and when looking for a cause one only needs to look to the wildly swinging hormones that result from puberty. During this time in a young man's life the body is undergoing rapid development and the hormonal systems go into overdrive; often producing inconsistent levels of hormones that affect the body in a variety of ways. There is no real treatment for this cause of puffy nipples, as hormonal imbalances attributed to puberty are both natural and expected; and more importantly eventually go away. Any attempts to regulate these hormones or treat the puffy nipples by surgical means would probably do more harm than good in the long run. In this case it is best to just sit back relax and let nature take its course.

Bodybuilders are particularly prone to developing puffy nipples. This is a fairly well documented occurrence, and very few people are left wondering what causes puffy nipples in bodybuilders. Steroid usage is somewhat common among professional bodybuilders looking to bulk up; and because steroids are essentially hormones they can lead to hormonal imbalances within the body that result in puffy nipples.

The problem is further exacerbated by the very low percentage of body fat on bodybuilders. The low percentage of body fat combined with the enlarged glands makes the puffy nipples stand out much more readily than on an average sized person.

No matter what causes the puffy nipples; there are solutions out there. Surgical solutions are the most popular as they are obviously the quickest and most successful. However if the puffy nipples are caused by a hormonal imbalance there may be ways of treating the condition by correcting the imbalance through hormonal therapy. As with any medical condition consult with a physician to discuss the best course of action. If surgery is the best option for your case, make sure to fully evaluate the surgeon you plan on working with. Ask to see photos of previous patients who had the same operation. <bio>Brian Mancow is an ex-steroid user who got rid of of his gynecomastia (man boobs).
