Making your customers smarter will help them and your store. Educated customers are more likely to make a purchase in your pet store. Yes, a few customers may pick your brains and then make purchases with the competition. However, in the long-term you will pick up many more new customers leading to a more profitable pet store. Educated customers are more likely to buy extra accessories for their favorite pet.

By talking to your customers, using tip sheets and informational demonstrations will increased the knowledge of your customers. This knowledge will help the customer make better purchases for their pet leading to a higher satisfaction for your pet store.

Having a lack of knowledge can hurt sales. For example, I was shopping a store and visited the pet section. I was laughing hard after looking at a sign on a lizard cage. At first glance, it appeared to call it a "Dork Lizard". After further review, it was called a "Dark Lizard". Actually, it was a "Fence Swift", but there was no one around for me to let them know. I would not ask advice of anything in this pet section since I saw the lack of information with the lizard. Their credibility is gone and would be hard to ever regain. Information they give might kill your new pet.

Educating customers makes you an authority and is a soft sell. Many people don't want a hard sell and will avoid those places of business. Giving valuable information builds a relationship and trust in a non threatening way.

Hopefully, you can see the value of educating customers and how it will affect your business long-term. It is a way to make your pet store stand out from your competition. Educated customers will likely buy more because they want the best for their pet. With a hard sell, they may think you just are trying to sell them products not really needed. <bio>Jerry Robertson is a Retail Consultant and author of "Shocking Truth to Pet Store Success".
"Courage is being scared to death - but saddling up anyway." -- John Wayne

"Courage is the cliché hallmark attributed to the hero. I say cliché because people talk about courage as if it is some mysterious force only a hero is born with. Courage is a vague and fleeting concept for many people because they lack it themselves. People lack courage because they lack knowledge. They have no idea where the true source of courage comes from. Even worse, they don't know it and continue to live in fear. As Socrates pointed out, 'People not only don't know, but they don't know that they don't know.'

This is why so many people on earth live in fear. Fear of death. Fear of life. Fear of living their nightmares. And fear of living their dreams. Most people are followers because they lack self-confidence and live in constant fear. Anyone who is brave and can show them how to overcome fear, they follow and respect. But...anyone that reminds people of their own fear, they attack and abuse viciously! This is human nature in its lowest, animal form.

What is fear? Fear is the perception or misperception of the unknown. Perception of how we negatively view reality, but not reality itself. I once heard somewhere, a useful acronym for FEAR: False Evidence that Appears Real. The 'false evidence' being our own manufactured worries, doubts, and negative images often of events that haven't even taken place yet. William Shakespeare understood this principal well when he said, 'Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.'

The cause of fear is lack of knowledge. Therefore, 'knowledge is the antidote to fear' according to the great American hero philosopher, Ralph Waldo Emerson. That is why heroes are brave souls. They immerse themselves with knowledge, plus knowledge, plus knowledge. Heroes know that they don't know, but are willing to learn. They are humble and learn from everyone regardless of rank or status. Leaders know their potential. Followers ignore their potential. Courage and self-confidence comes from knowledge and self-knowledge...

This being said, no human hero is entirely fearless. Great heroes are not born fearless and brave. Nelson Mandela had this to say about courage: 'I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it...I felt fear myself more times than I can remember, but I hid it behind a mask of boldness. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.'" [Excerpted from, "Psychology of the Hero Soul," by Sharif Khan, Chapter 16.]

Psychology of the Hero Soul is an inspirational book on awakening the Hero within and rekindling people's passion for greatness.
How many grains of sand are there on the beach? Come on, tell me, how many? How many stars are there in the sky? Come on, all you have to do is count them! If I breathe and you breathe and everybody and every animal on earth breathe in oxygen, why don't we ever run out?

We live in an abundant Universe. There is an abundance of everything. None of us ever wake up in the morning fearing that there won't be enough air to breathe or that there won't be enough water to drink. Did you wake up this morning wondering if there would be water in your tap?

There is so much abundance in this world that it seems that it would be impossible to run out of anything. How many grains of sand are there on the beach? How many stars are in the sky? How many shrimp are in the ocean? If you think about it, it's mind-boggling. Everything is infinite. Everything.

Yet, many of us struggle with a lack, a lack of a very important component to life. Many of us struggle with a lack of money.

It's not because there really is a lack of money in the world. There is enough money in the world for every man, woman and child alive today to be a millionaire and then some. There is an abundance of money just like there is abundance of everything else. So why is it that so many of us struggle with the lack of money?

Some may argue that money is different from air, water, food and such. After all money is man-made, isn't it? But what is money? Money is just a form of energy that we use for exchange. It's truly nothing more. You give your time, ideas and energy and you get money in return. Money is just a medium of exchange--nothing else.

The answers to money problems lie in how we use our own minds. How we think determines if we have money in abundance or a lack of money. If we think about lack of money, debt, and other problems all day long that is exactly what we create. If we think of abundance and joy that money can bring that is what we create. We create more of what we think about. If you want more money, think about more money--never think of the lack.

Think of any famous, rich millionaire you know or have heard of. Do you think they spend any time worrying about a lack of money? No! You shouldn't either. We all deserve to have an abundance of money and anything else we want in our lives. <bio>Karen Lynch is the creator of the motivation and inspiration website http://www.livethepower.com You can learn about using the power of your own mind by picking up a copy of a Free Ebook of "The Power of the Subconscious Mind" by Dr. Joseph Murphy at http://www.livethepower.com/home.html </bio>

Everyone starting an Internet Business would want to see their business take off and succeed, be it selling their own product or affiliate program. But why majority of internet marketer after starting their internet business and try every program and yet still failed? Some give up simply because they do not see enough return or did not make a single dime online. Some managed to make some money, but are still struggling to recover their investment or operating expense. Here are the Top 6 Reasons why people fail their internet business.

1. Lack of experience

Most affiliate program claims that people selling their product do not need to have prior experience or html programming skill or even computer skill. All these are not true. You still need some basic knowledge in computer skills and marketing knowledge to be successful online. This is something you should keep in mind when you are thinking about this kind of business.

2. Improper budget allocation

This is the most critical part where most people do not budget properly before starting an internet business. You can not spend more than you make and you have to be able to pay your regular monthly bills.

3. Highly Competitive Target Market

For any hot products out there, you will see tons of competitions and advertiser promoting it. Avoid this market, but rather find a niche product where competition is less. You need to do research before entering into a market.

4. Lack of Time Management

Most people have a full time day job while starting a home business at the same time. They have to spend time for work, family and personal. And eventually, they get exhausted and give up their internet business.

5. Lack of business promotion

Let people know about the products and services you are selling. If you do not have a solid marketing plan for your business, you will fail eventually because you do not have enough people to buy from you. Hence your business may not be sustainable

6. Lack of Professionalism

A professional website or products and services will lead to more buyers into your business.

Lack of experience is the most common source of failure. Many internet businesses are begun by individuals with no experience at all. Some internet program target those people who do not know anything about online business, and claim that they can make money even with No experience. Until when they buy the products, then realized that some much of work needs to be done, eventually they give up.

Lack of advertising and marketing is another sure way of running the business into the ground. You can have the best products or the best website on the internet, but if the general public has no idea that your business is open and what services you offer, you will not be able to have enough business to keep your head above water. So if you are positive you do not want your business to fail, start to develop a solid marketing plan. If you are on a low budget, you can still have a low cost ways of promoting your products and services.
An examination is taken or held for the mere reason to know the ability, knowledge or skill present with the test-taker. Though one may know a lot about the subject and in fact may also be capable to write the whole subject in a very easy and understanding manner, one may not be able to acquire the results expected or even fail in the examination. Many people get tensed as soon as they hear that an examination is on its way. There have been instances wherein students have not appeared for the examination because they are scared that they might fail or not clear the examination even though they are well prepared for the examination.

The thought of giving an examination even to an adult may trouble the person. At times it may also happen that one may have the entire essential knowledge required to appear for the examination but the moment the examination paper is given to solve one may go completely blank and may forget everything. This is called <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/exam+nerves" rel="tag">exam nerves. This is caused not because of lack in self confidence or lack of knowledge but because the mere test is termed as examination. Since childhood everyone knows that an examination is conducte to test and gauge you and as such you need to perform well. Not faring well may even cause your elimination and acts as a stumbling block from moving ahead and this very thought brings on the exam nerves.

This is at present a very common issue amongst students and in fact also in people learning new things at work and who may appear for an exam to show that one has understood the same. Exam nerves can be really harmful especially when it haunts a young student as this may start to make the student feel that he/ she does not have appropriate knowledge and may start to give up on studies. Exam nerve can be resolved very easily by being confident and be sure that you know what is to be done next. However not every one is able to resolve this issue of exam nerves so easily. Many people also take their children to many doctors or psychiatrists to try resolve the issue of the exam nerves but this also does not work always. It may happen like in many cases that one may completely loose confidence and end up dealing with exam nerves throughout, hampering their performance.

This issue of exam nerves can surely be resolved with hypnotherapy and the best part is that you do not even need to visit therapy sessions. The internet is a huge virtual book of knowledge and has many things to offer, there are hypnosis audio discs which are available online so that one may get over with the exam nerves and may feel relieved of the tension caused because of examinations. This also has the hidden benefit of allowing your self to treat your problem on your own without the help of others. All one needs to do is download a suitable hypnoisis treatment option and do as shown in the lessons. If one whole heartedly concentrates on the same and plans to follow the lead then it becomes very easy to overcome exam nerves. <bio>For more information on exam nerves and exam stress check the link- http://www.richardmackenziedirect.com/Driving-Test.htm </bio>

At the moment an entrepreneur decides to join the affiliate marketing business, he searches in an affiliate marketing directory and he is immediately presented with a very wide range of products and services, and with various affiliate programs. The affiliate marketing business is indeed a flourishing business as indicated by the numerous online merchants who are offering affiliate programs.

With so many options before him, an entrepreneur may opt to step back and research more about which products he should promote, which affiliate program he should sign-up, and which merchant he should affiliate with. He is buying himself time and he wanted to be more prepared before actually setting up his affiliate marketing business.

On the other hand, an entrepreneur will be so excited that he will sign-up with the first affiliate program that he finds interesting. There is nothing wrong with such eagerness and such action. The only thing that the new affiliate has to deal with is his lack of knowledge about the products he has chosen to promote. Should the affiliate step back and start all over again?

If the new affiliate will retrace his steps, he will only be putting off the day when he will be enjoying financial success. Therefore, he must forge ahead and continue with his chosen affiliate program and deal on his lack of knowledge along the way. Besides, dealing with such a lack of knowledge is not as difficult as obtaining a doctor's degree. The new affiliate simply needs to read.

When the new affiliate has decided to read up on his products, he should first pose questions that he wanted to know about the products. These questions will be his guide in choosing his reading materials. For example, if the products are ceramic items, maybe he wanted to know first how the ceramic industry came about. Then he must know how ceramic items are created. And he must also know what makes ceramics different from all other craft items.

The answers to these questions will provide good content for the new affiliate's website. The information that the affiliate has collected, in order to answer his questions will be the focus of the articles that will be posted in the website. The beauty of such informative articles is that they contain the facts that the target clients would like to know. Because, when the affiliate asked questions, he was placing himself in the shoes of his target clients.

Another perk to reading about the products is the acquired ability of the affiliate to authoritatively and immediately answer the questions that the visitors will post in the website. When the target client is satisfied with the quickness and completeness of the answers, he will most likely patronize and purchase the products that are recommended by the affiliate. <bio>Peter Garant's affiliate marketing http://www.affiliatepays.com site sells affordable unique website content http://www.affiliatepays.com/unique-website-content/ to webmasters that understand the need for unplagerised and high quality content on their websites. </bio>

We need others to respect us when we believe that: a. If others do not respect me, I am not safe or worthy. b. I cannot be happy if others do not respect and love me

We have identified our self-worth and security with being respected by others. We will be able to love others when they do not behave respectfully towards us when we have enough inner self-respect and thus do not need theirs.

We are often mistaken when we believe that others do not respect us. We interpret that they do not respect us because they smoke when we have asked them not to smoke, when they are late for their appointments, when they do not keep their agreements, when they make noise when we are trying to rest. Although we interpret these behaviors as a lack of respect, most likely they are simply being controlled by their impulses, fears and needs that prevent them from behaving otherwise. Most of the time, they have no intention of being disrespectful and are unaware that we are interpreting their behavior in that way.

We can take this personally, or just understand their weakness and realize that it is a sign of lack of inner strength and not lack of respect for us. That does not mean that we should accept this behavior. We need again to distinguish between the being and the behavior. We can continue loving the other while making it very clear that we need and intend to have the behavior we deserve. We might even need at times to employ types of natural or logical consequences when we have repeatedly communicated without results. We even have the right to discontinue contact with those who cannot behave justly and with consideration. All of this can be done, while we continue to love them, express our love and best wishes for their being and even help them whenever necessary.

Note: They may be reflecting our own lack of respect.

If we ourselves do not respect ourselves or others, then others may reflect this back to us. We need to examine in such cases whether the lack of respect we are perceiving is:

a. A projection of our beliefs in which we perceive a lack of respect when in fact lack of respect is not a reality. We need to free ourselves from the belief and expectation - that others do not respect us.

b. A reflection of our lack of self-respect. We need to inspire others to respect us, by respecting ourselves.

c. A mirroring of our lack of respect towards others. We need to be more respectful of others.

From the forthcoming book "Love is The Choice" by Robert Elias Najemy <bio>Robert Elias Najemy, a life coach with 30 years of experience, is the author of over 20 books, 600 articles and 400 lectures on Human Harmony.
As a student, does it ever seem like everyone around you knows more than you do about your career field? Many students feel this way maybe because they have not gained as much knowledge from their classes as they though they would or perhaps they do not yet have any experience in their career field.

One way to turn this feeling of inexperience around is to take a college internship. An internship college can be a very effective way for students to expand on the knowledge they have gained in the classroom and apply it to a workplace setting. If you are not required by your college to complete a college internship, you may not have given much though to completing one, but an internship college can be a great way to prepare you for your career.

Once you have landed a college internship, the next step is to make sure that you make the most of your time with the company. An internship college generally only lasts for a few months, but if you apply yourself, you can learn a great deal within that time period.

One way to maximize your college internship experience is to learn from the other employees at the company. Your boss and other employees are likely very experienced in your career field and have a great deal of knowledge that can be of huge benefit to you. When you are struggling on a project or think that you may be missing some key points, do not be afraid to ask other employees for input. After all, a college internship is supposed to be a learning experience and your fellow employees will likely be your best learning outlet.

If you find yourself with a lack of work during your internship, do not be afraid to ask your boss if there are any other projects that they would like you to begin working on. The lack of things for you to do may be a simple oversight of your manager or they may be afraid of overloading you with work, so these are good reasons to ask for more work. Asking for more projects will also likely impress your boss, as they will see your ambition and motivation to work. However, this does not mean that you should rush through your work and do a poor job just to show your boss how hard working you are. It is better to take your time with projects and make sure they are done correct before moving on to other work.

Take advantage of any opportunities that you can during your internship. If there are any opportunities to sit in on meetings or take trips for work, take advantage of them. An internship is supposed to be a learning experience, but sometimes it takes initiative on your part to learn all that you can. Do not be afraid to ask others questions, such as how they choose that particular career field and what advice they can give you on starting out in your career after graduating from college.<bio>More information on college works painting interns, college works painting home improvement and College Works Painting opportunities in your area is just a click away.</bio>

In order to successfully motivate someone--or, to get her/him to internalize the motivation--you have to create a deep hunger or thirst. It has been said that you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. That's true, but let it be known that you can give that horse salt, thereby creating such a thirst that the horse must have water. As a master motivator, you are giving salt to your prospects. That is, you are striving to create such a thirst in your prospects that they can't wait to act.

On your persuasive journey, you will find that people tend to get motivated for the short term, that they lose steam and that they then fall back into the rut they were trying to pull themselves out of in the first place. As a persuader and motivator, you have to understand what pulls people away from action into inaction. What causes them to lose excitement, vision and energy? When you notice that your prospects are losing their motivation, these are the common reasons why they are doing so:

• They have not yet found their passion. -- They are going through life using desperation as a motivator, or they haven't yet found anything that really inspires them.

• They have a poor attitude. -- They are run down with a negative attitude. Their expectations and beliefs are not congruent with their goals.

• Their intent is diminishing. -- They have previously been on the right track but they've now lost their drive. They have forgotten the real reasons why they were motivated in the first place.

• They are indifferent. -- They just don't care anymore. They have lost the ability to express concern or to make a difference in their own life or in the lives of others.

• They have become creatures of habit. -- They have not replaced their previous bad habits and have fallen back into old ones.

• They lack persistence. -- They have given up too easily and have gotten stalled at the first obstacle.

• They have no sense of urgency. -- They have set no timeframe for achievement. The pain of not changing doesn't hurt badly enough that they've got to act now.

• They have succumbed to peer pressure. -- The people around them are more motivating than you are. They have not found the support they need to resist against the peers whose esteem they value.

• They lack vision. -- They have sacrificed long-term success for short-term pleasure.

• They lack knowledge. -- They don't know how to make the necessary changes in their lives or they are not doing so correctly.

• They lack confidence. -- Confidence comes only after action, knowledge and success have been achieved.

• They have no game plan. -- They are overwhelmed or waiting for everything to fall into order. They have no action plan.

• They simply don't want to do it. -- They don't want to pay the price. Their goal is only a dream and nothing more. They are using external desperation as their motivator, or they are living their lives the way others want them to. <bio>Learning how to persuade and influence will make the difference between hoping for a better income and having a better income. Beware of the common mistakes presenters and persuaders commit that cause them to lose the deal. Go to http://prewealth.com/mistakestoavoid and explode your income today. </bio>

Your POS system generates key statistics that tell you about your Retail sales performance. These key statistics are: Average sale, Transactions per hour, Items per sale, Conversion rate, Sales per hour.

But did you know that tracking these statistics on an individual Salesperson basis can lead you to focused clues about improving individual performance. Most POS systems don't enable you to track individual sales performance or generate individual KPIs (key performance indicators). If they do, they do not allow you to set a Store Sales Goal for comparative purposes.

If your POS system does track these KPIs they can lead you to some very important coaching strategies:

Coaching on Low Average Sale

Salespeople need to create value in the sale by demonstrating more expensive merchandise. This usually requires more skill and more product knowledge.

Customers need to be probed to identify their needs so the Salesperson can match them with the right product. There is no point in launching into a demo unless the needs of the customer are known. This leads to unsuccessful attempts at adding on. Perhaps the sale itself is lost due to inaccurate probing.

If the Salesperson is in a hurry they may not maximise their opportunity to sell. This will usually be characterised by low items per sale and/or high transactions per hour, as well.

Salespeople need to be aware of natural product add-ons such as extended warranties, product customisation and delivery options. Lack of product knowledge again is a cause for low average sale.

Coaching on Low Transactions Per Hour

Salespeople may be guilty of spending too much time with customer and not closing sales quickly enough. This is usually due to a lack of skill or motivation.

You need to identify a specific behavior that is cause the poor performance which may be thing like too much time spent merchandising, taking breaks, smoking, or talking to customers without trying to close the sale.

Converting customer is paramount to increasing transaction per hour.

Approach more customers and try to spend less time with them

Coaching on Low Items Per Sale

Salespeople need to at least attempt to sell more than one item to a customer. Product knowledge and sales confidence are the keys to a successful add on. Lack of sales skill will inevitably result on giving up too quickly or ignoring an opportunity to add on.

Probe customers with broad questions relating to the product they are buying. You may find out something about the customers that leads naturally to the ad on.

Since the customer's mind is most open to buying prior to making a buying decision on the primary item, a Salesperson who always waits for that commitment prior to adding on may be minimising his/her chances of successfully adding on.

Salespeople are sometimes much to careful about saving a customer's money instead of trying to sell them more items. If the store is quiet Salespeople need to try harder to ad on. Even if the store is busy, a customer who has already decided to make a purchase is more easy to sell something to than a customer walking into the store.

Coaching on Low Conversion Rate

Lack of probing, skill in selling, product knowledge, and approaching customers is usually the cause of low conversation rate.

In most cases increasing the conversion rate of the store is the quickest and easiest way to increase the sales average. Converting one more customer per period can create a dramatic effect on the sales for the day so Salespeople need to close faster and attend to more shoppers.

Lack of clear and targeted demonstrations and a lack of product knowledge can cause wasted time with Salespeople performing the sale but not closing the deal.

Coaching on Low Sales Per Hour

Usually this statistic is low because one of the other's is low.

Make sure you are tracking this statistic accurately. If you are measuring sales performance for an individual who is selling for less hours than being tracked this will inevitable show us a low sales per hour.

Summary

Targeting individual deficient sales statistics provides vital clues to Store Managers about the specific area of performance that should be targeted for coaching purposes.

Coaching on the most deficient statistic yields the greatest and quickest results and the potential the biggest improvement in sales performance.

The author of this article has developed a software program used by retail stores to quickly and easily calculate individual salespeople's statistics. <bio>Steven Lipschitz has a 12 year track record in Internet enabled applications and today specializes in Retail Performance Management Solutions.
At some point in the training project, we need to assess the skills, knowledge, competencies and behaviours of the current sales people. Without doing this, we cannot understand the starting point for the change and how big the change needs to be. We will also find out whether the whole sales force needs the same level of training.

For instance, we were told by a sales director that his sales people couldn't close and that the company was losing business because of this. So could we come in and do andquot;closingandquot; with them. When we looked at the issue, most of the sales team were closing all the time, at the most inappropriate times in the customer's buying cycle.

Further assessment showed a real lack of business focused questioning earlier in the buying cycle was leading to a mismatch between the customer's real needs and the solutions being proposed. Hence, the lack of orders. So the program we actually provided was around understanding of needs, questioning and building value propositions that reflect the customer's business needs.

The sales force assessment doesn't need to be complex, it can be web based or paper based. What it does need to do is gain information about where the sales force is today against the set of skills, knowledge, competencies and behaviours that the company requires to move forward.

The easiest, and often best way, of doing this is by using a three phase assessment. Phase 1 is where the individual sales person scores themselves on a scale of 1 to 10 on each area identified as important. In phase 2 the sales manager, independent of the sales person, uses the same process to score the sales person. Phase 3 is a meeting between the two, to discuss any variances and agree (where possible) where the individual is on the scale for each area.

This gives tremendous information across the sales team as a whole, as well as highlighting areas an individual sales person needs to work on and these can become part of their development plan. <bio>John Fowler is a sales and management trainer designing and delivering workshops across the world specifically for the IT industry.
You would be surprised to find out exactly how many people are having a difficult time with low self-esteem. Even when somebody seems to be extremely confident in themselves, it is often only a mask in order to hide the fact that they are also dealing with a lack of confidence. If this seems to be a problem for you, there are some things that you can do which will help you to overcome it. It is important for you to understand, however, that this type of problem is not going to be something that is cured overnight. As a matter of fact, it may take many months or perhaps even years of persistence on your part in order for you to totally erase your lack of self-esteem.

The first step in learning how to have confidence in yourself is that you need to be able to see yourself as you actually are. Believe it or not, many of the people who deal with a lack of self-confidence are individuals that others enjoy being around. If you were to ask them honestly, one of the only problems that they may have with you is the fact that you do not have enough confidence in yourself. Try to be objective whenever you're looking at yourself and your activities. You might be surprised to find out that people do not view you in the same way as you view yourself. Many of the things that you consider to be bad about yourself, other people simply don't recognize.

If your self-confidence is very deep-rooted, it may be necessary for you to seek some professional advice in order to overcome it. Of course, it always helps to be able to talk to a trusted friend or family member but there may be times whenever we would need to speak to a counselor about our situation. Many times, our lack of confidence springs from situations that we may not feel comfortable speaking about in front of somebody that we know intimately. A counselor should be able to give you an objective look at these different things and to help to give you some encouragement and even exercises that would give you a boost in your self-esteem rather quickly.

Unfortunately, many of us are not able to afford professional counseling for something such as a lack of confidence in ourselves. There are many self-help books that are available which will walk you through a number of different processes in order to boost your confidence. Some of these will deal with specific problems that you may have and that may be at the root of your lack of self-confidence. By seeing these different things through other people's eyes, you may actually be able to recognize that the root of the problem is not worthy of a lack of self-confidence on your part. Often, these books will also give you exercises that will help you to get over any specific problems that you may be dealing with.<bio>More more help with self-confidence and overcoming stage fright please visit http://www.overcomestagefright.org</bio>

Starting a home business can be a daunting task. With so many do's and don'ts, here's and there's, one can get overwhelmed in the process. In this article you will learn three very important tips that will get you off to a good productive start. The reason that many home business owners fail is not the lack of knowledge, but the lack of endurance and focus needed to succeed in this competitive world that we live in. Applying the following tips to your business will benefit the birth and the growth of your home business.

Listed below are the three tips and a brief description about how using each one can and will improve your home business.

1 . Arm Yourself - Arm yourself with as many resources and tools as you can before starting your business. Learn everything you can concerning your business from start up cost to potential earning capacity; crunch those numbers! Figure out all of the supplies that you will need to start your home business such as a computer, stationery, pens, staplers, cell phones and even space. Take time to search the internet for anything dealing with your particular niche. Read of articles that talk about the business that you are about to embark on. Print out these articles and highlight all of the things that you find useful. Strap yourself with as much knowledge as you can while having helpful email addresses and phone numbers at your finger tips. Be sure to have easy access to all of your tools and resources. Get everything organized; it will make things go a lot smoother.

2. Study Your Competition - Let's be honest, the chances of your business not having some sort of competition is slim. This is why you need to find your competition and study them. Look at what they are doing as well as what they have done. Find out where they can approve at, as well as where they are excelling at. Study their campaign ads, compare prices and even try their products and or services to get an even better understanding of how they work. After doing all of these things, see how you can incorporate you findings into your own business. By doing this you will eventually dominate your competition, producing more revenue for your own home business.

3 . Get Rid Of Failure Being An Option - This is actually one of the first things that you must do. This is also one of the most difficult things to do. See, as great as it may sound, and as potentially great as it could be; starting your own home business takes a lot of work. It will take some studying and some patience, some trial and some error. There will be some obstacles and some set backs to over come, but you will over come them. It will be well worth it. If you think that you will fail, you probably will; therefore, get rid of the thought altogether. Focus on where you want to be and you will eventually get there. <bio>http://www.successfulhomebusinesssecret.com </bio>

If you were to commit to memory and put into practice the following 10 tips on avoiding crime, it would go along way in protecting you or your family from being victims of the criminal element in our society.

1. Be Alert! Keep your head up. Be aware of your surroundings. Stay in well-lighted, busy areas. Avoid walking alone and avoid known trouble spots.

2. Vary Your Routines. Predictability makes you a more likely target.

3. Lock It! Home, car, office -- locks are your first line of defense.

4. Make Your Home A Tough Target. Use floodlights, motion sensors, a security system, deadbolts, etc.

5. Foil Car-jackers. Keep windows/doors locked; check mirrors and blind spots when stopped. Stay one to one and a half lengths away from the car ahead of you when coming to a stop. This is necessary so that you have enough room to pull out in a hurry if someone approaches your car Sound your horn and flash your lights if you think you are approached by a car-jacker.

6. Avoid Car Theft. Lock it! As mentioned above this is your first line of defense. Use an anti-theft device. Turn the wheels when you park. This makes it harder for anyone who tries to move or tow your car. Never leave a spare key inside the car. Always park in a well-lighted place. Put packages in the trunk.

7. Be Creative. Think of unusual ways to protect yourself and your valuables.

8. Be Informed. Learn the crime trends in your area and work to protect yourselves against them. Knowledge and familiarized is great, but lack of knowledge or lack of being aware of your neighborhood or surrounding can be costly.

9. Get Involved. Have you joined or organized a Neighborhood Watch?

10. Do Not Give Up! Do not throw in the towel on "the war on crime." Crime can be reduced with action, not apathy! Do not get discouraged or become to comfortable with you daily routines, stay aware.

The following of this advice is good protocol no matter where you live and work. Whether it be city or suburbia, north, south, and east or west. <bio>The author is active in the "war on crime".
People who have self-confidence believe in themselves and feel that they are capable of achieving what they want in life, or dealing with any situation that they may have to face. They have an aura of self-confidence and self-assurance, which is apparent to others. People like to spend time with them; they feel comfortable and secure in their presence.

In contrast, there are many people who are reasonably talented, but who lack self-confidence. These people are victims of the several <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/myths" rel="tag">myths that surround self-confidence.

1. One of the foremost myths about self-confidence is that people are born with self-confidence. It is a quality that cannot be acquired. Nothing can be farther from truth. Self-confidence, like other skills, can be built. All that you need is right guidance and a belief in yourself.

2. There are others who blame their low self-confidence to their lack of good looks and poor upbringing. They don't realize that self-confidence has nothing to do with their looks. It is a reflection of one's confidence. The only way they can overcome this myth is by learning to believe in themselves. In fact, talent and self-confidence are not inter-related.

There are scores of talented actors and actresses who do very well in their professions but whose personal lives are torn by lack of self-confidence. It may sound contradictory, but this is how life is.

Talent can be an important component of self-confidence, but it is certainly not a substitute for self-confidence. So, don't worry about lack of talent. Harness the skills that you possess.

3. Another myth is that self-confidence is directly proportional to the recognition and praise that an individual gets in his or her life; the ones who are not so lucky wallow in self-pity. Once again, there is little doubt that recognition and praise make you feel good about yourself, and boost your self-confidence.

But you can't simply depend on the praise lavished by others. You have to work hard to earn that praise, and you can do this only if you are self-confident. The same applies to those who are not successful. They, too, can earn praise if they work hard and win people's respect.

Such people should look at children. Children believe in themselves, and this gives them the self-confidence to try to do things they have never done before, be it learning how to cycle or how to swim.

In fact, no child comes into the world knowing all the skills. But it does not take long to teach children most of the basic skills. Then, why should it be difficult for adults to learn new skills or brave new challenges?

4. Another myth is that only self-confident people can afford to take risks. This again is not true. In fact, self-confident people are more realistic about their capabilities. They know what they can do, and what they can't do. More importantly, they know how to deal with failures.

In contrast, people who lack self-confidence are afraid of failure. This fear prevents them from taking on new tasks. They constantly pine for the approval of others, and when they don't get it they end up losing their self-confidence.

What is apparent is the lack of understanding. People must realize that self-confidence is a state of mind. It is not dependent upon a person's beauty or looks. It flows from a person's self-belief, and this belief can be built.

All that a person needs to do is to debunk myths that self- confidence cannot be acquired or that self-confidence is a byproduct of exceptional knowledge, skills and luck. Once they do so, they will find it easier to acquire the same magnetic powers that self-confident people have. <bio>To discover how to overcome the #1 obstacle that will keep you from success and to get a fr'e mini-course that reveals how to change your limiting thinking and how to increase the level of your self-esteem to set yourself free, go to http://www.vision-to-action.com </bio>

I just took a quiz on a http://pbs.org site to check my credit card knowledge against real facts. One of the questions was, "Nearly 144 million Americans have general-purpose credit cards. Approximately how many of them pay off their bill in full each month?"

My choices for an answer were 55, 90 and 115 million. In terms of percentages, they were asking me to guess if 38%, 63% or 80% of the credit card holders pay off their bill at the end of each month.

It was not surprising to know that only 38% of credit card holders pay off their bill and the rest are "revolvers." These are folks who routinely carry high balance and create a lucrative business for credit card companies.

Why doesn't everyone do this?

Simplified answers are lack of resources, lack of knowledge and poor planning. I give you one example each and hope that you visit my blog at http://mypersonalfinance.com/blog and share your input.

Lack of resources

The economy may or may not be getting better but many still feel the crunch of hard times including corporate downsizing. For those caught in the middle of a lay off, paying mortgage or rent takes higher priority than paying off the credit card balance. They also use their credit cards to take care of monthly shortage that increases the balance and makes it more difficult to pay off their entire credit card bill.

Lack of knowledge

It seems to be one of our characteristic not to look at problems for too long trying to find a solution and if too many problems pile up, we tend to prioritize things and only deal with what we can. Many who have high credit card balance have other things on their mind and automatically assume that they have to live with their credit card forever. The fact is with the intense competition for your credit card business, many credit card issuers offer lucrative incentive for you to credit card balance transfer and if you call your credit card company, you may even be able to negotiate a lower term.

This knowledge is not a solution that may help you pay off your entire balance right away, but it may help you manage it better so that the day you can pay it off comes sooner.

Poor planning

Self-discipline, over optimism and stress impact our abilities to deal with situations. That new gadget, those wonder deals on ebay that seem to call to your credit card test your self-discipline. Spending the next pay raise before it is in your hand shows a healthy dose of optimism that may back fire. And let's not forget the stress. We do strange things under stress, a visit to a local mall, a well deserved massage to soothe the nerves or going out to dinner one more time are some of the ways we increase our credit card balance.

Most of these situations can be resolved with a little planning. For example, have a list of items you want to buy and their price tag. Wait for the next pay raise to show up, go over your list and buy what is on your list.

Put new gadgets and deals on your list and let it sit for a while. Allow yourself a little cool off period before you buy anything. You may be surprised as how many things you don't have to have and how many things you can buy for much less a little later.

Understand the stress is a part of life and plan ways to cope with them. A walk in the park is healthier for you and costs less than a walk in the mall.

May you find the ability to pay off all your debts.

* DISCLAIMER: Vishy Dadsetan, http://MyPersonalFinance.com or My Favorite Shop, Inc. do not endorse any product or company.
The average length of life now is somewhere around 75 years right? Which is crazy when you consider the dramatic increase that this number represents in the amount of knowledge and technology that medicine has experienced in the last 30 years. The problem is that we get people to live longer and we find out the next major factor that is limiting the length of our life. At this moment that limiting factor is cancer and our lack of definitive cancer treatment.

It isn't that we don't understand cancer very well--because we do. We know that it goes back to errors that occur in our DNA in one cell most of the time that enable that cell to break out of the normal and healthy limitations of growth and connectivity to other cells. This rogue cell than goes and reeks havoc by invading areas critical to life and destroying them by disrupting the form and therefore the function of whatever organ they have invaded. It also isn't that we don't have any knowledge of cancer treatment -- because we do. We have drugs that will go in and (as selectively as possible) take out the cells that can't otherwise be controlled. We also use physics to our best ability with radiological oncology and gamma knife surgeries. We now can find cancer much sooner and treat it more definitively.

The problem is that cancer is bigger than we can handle right now and is able to evade human's abilities to control it. We can't cure the most aggressive forms, we can't detect the most subtle cases, and our cancer treatment is much much too crude. The treatments are necessarily toxic to the cancer but we haven't gotten good at making it selective so that the body doesn't take a serious hit. Maybe the largest part of cancer treatment that we fail on is prevention.

We as American's and as humans more generally have a lot of bad habits and have set up our world to rely on too many things that are extremely hazardous to the environment and to our health. We smoke too much while knowing full well that it is assaulting our lungs, we eat too much fat knowing that it gives us cancer of the colon and the breast, we work and live in air that we have made toxic to breathe, etc. Yes we are really our own limiting factor, not cancer, not our lack of good cancer treatment. I wonder if we will ever wake up and stop blaming doctors for not being good enough and start to take responsibility for our actions. <bio>Trained in public health and a cancer survivor himself, Trenton Martkes is committed to do everything that he can to educate the public about cancer treatment options.
Overcoming writer's block has so many prescribed cures that seem like witches' brew, you may as well be trying to get rid of hiccups. My favorite remedy is "just write anything." If I were to follow this advice when I'm stuck in a frustrating blank stare moment, my page would be filled with expletives that would be of no use to anyone, including Lenny Bruce.

If you have no idea of what to say on any given subject, you do not have writer's block, you have a lack of knowledge problem. If you have the facts in front of you and still do not know what to say then you have writer's block. The basic step of gathering enough material to complete your writing task should never be confused with writer's block. Writing takes leg work - tedious legwork. Before the Internet this task could seem insurmountable; but now with worlds of knowledge at our fingertips, I don't want to hear about any problems getting background material on any subject. Learn how to use the search engines well. This should already be part of your writer's skill set.

Genuine writer's block comes when you "just don't know how to say it." You have the information, a basic outline, yet you are not satisfied with the tone, cadence or anecdote provided. It just doesn't feel right. You can't tie your ideas together into one cohesive product that supports the underlying theme you are trying to convey. What do you do?

Take your material and write it out as you have it. Even if doesn't feel right complete your assignment as if it were due today, and walk away. Leave the problem to rattle around in your brain for a while. Now here comes they key. Do something totally unrelated that requires you to pay some attention to your new task - a household chore, returning emails, running an errand. I generally find a physical chore, like walking to the post office to be superior to a mental chore like answering emails. Exercise is one of the great inspirational tools available to us. If you exercise regularly this would be a great time to do that. Sometime during your chore or exercise the answer will pop into your head. That is the way our brains work. Inspiration comes to us all the time. We need to be distracted from the noise that interfering with our ability to hear the inspiration. Once we have changed our focus away from the problem at hand our brain can finally deliver the answer unimpeded. Whether you believe the answer has come from your brain or from the cosmos the answer is always available to us. Sometimes more than one chore is required for distraction. On a big problem it might take a week of chores. Be absolutely sure you have a pen and pad of paper with you at all times, because the answer may be fleeting, or just a partial answer with the remaining portion to show up at a later time.

Most writers are working on more than one project at a time. Leaving one assignment and starting another can also help in getting the answer to a previous writing problem. Remember; never confuse lack of preparation with writer's block. Lack of preparation is a matter of laziness and is a whole different problem to overcome. <bio>Jeffrey Dorrian is the webmaster at http://www.thesoapguy.com.
Early in the lives of the Shih Tzu puppies, the very best of care is crucial to well-rounded Shih Tzu puppy development. Dams and their litters do not survive alone.

There is more to raising Shih Tzu and the Toy breed puppies in general than truly meets the eye.

Not only does one need to carefully consider the pedigrees and health histories of each mating, but one must continue to study to become an expertise in general puppy care. Yes, there is much, much more to breeding than just putting two dogs together and allowing nature to take its course. Dog breeding is a science. It is a discipline. It is a profession.

Shih Tzu breeding must be carefully thought out and is most definitely a profession that does require specialized knowledge. Regardless of the location of your breeding establishment, whether it is in your backyard, your garage, basement or an establishment that is especially built for breeding purposes, you the breeder is who makes your establishment professional or non-professional. The breeder is who determines what type of establishment, professional or non-professional, the breeding establishment is. Location, such as the backyard, basement or buildings especially designed for breeding purposes does not determine whether or not the establishment is professional.

If a breeder fails in their responsibilities to the early lives of Shih Tzu puppies, it is either through ignorance or lack of commitment. Ignorance, lack of knowledge and lack of commitment more closely defines the "backyard" breeder, and or those raising puppies in puppy mills. The committed and professional breeder realizes there is no real profit in rearing a litter of Shih Tzu puppies other than the satisfaction of doing the best job possible.

Once Shih Tzu puppies open their eyes the real work and expense of rearing a litter begins. Shih Tzu puppies begin to display individual character traits. It is at this time that Shih Tzu puppies rely more heavily upon the breeder and less with the dam. The professional breeder recognizes and readily assumes the responsibilities of caring for a Shih Tzu litter and does not abandon them to their dam's care alone.

A large Shih Tzu litter may require supplementary feeding while continuing to allow the dam and offspring full access to each other. Smaller or premature Shih Tzu puppies often require supplementary feeding around the clock. The healthy brood matron should be vibrant, should not carry excess weight nor appear undernourished. An emotionally and physically healthy dam consistently maintains an active and lively interest in her puppies and environment.
