But today was different and in the afternoon at around 5.00 PM I had "demon hunger" and couldn't concentrate on some computer work that I was doing. I really felt like eating something! <br /><br /> I contemplated taking some fruit, which is generally a good idea whenever you are in this kind of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/predicament" rel="tag">predicament</a>. For example, suppose you are trying to lose weight by cutting down on high calorie snacks in-between meals, and all of a sudden you get the "munchies" well if you eat an <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/apple" rel="tag">apple</a> or some other fruit it sometimes does the trick and your hunger is gone. <br /><br /> But instead of grabbing an apple, I resorted to a "yogi trick," I drank two glasses of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/lemon+water" rel="tag">lemon water</a>. I made it by squeezing lemon into the glass and adding a bit of salt and water. This lemon water drink is great for giving strength and it also works to allay the hunger. I drank and then went back to work (which includes typing this blog entry). So if you really want to stick to your fast, before you to for fruit, try the lemon water. <br /><br /> And remember one thing: you will not <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/go+to+hell" rel="tag">go to hell</a> if you take some lemon water or eat a fruit. Fasting will help you to maintain your health, so do your best to do it regularly (twice a month is great). <br /><br /> Now, I promised to tell you how I usually avoid hunger altogether on the fasting day, so I will do it. Before you begin a fast you have to prepare yourself physically, and most important mentally. <br /><br /> Let's start with mental preparation. The night before the day when you will be fasting you have to remember that tomorrow is the fasting day and set your mind to it. It's final, tomorrow you are fasting. If you have this kind of determination, then your desire to eat will not even start working on the day of fasting. It just shuts down. It is amazing but it is true. <br /><br /> If you don't make this kind of mental preparation then when you wake up you will be thinking of breakfast or of eating sometime. If you decide to fast right then, on the spot, you will also think about why it might be good to eat (you can always find a reason!). And in the midst of this quivering mind-set hunger usually wins the day! So make up your mind the night before and you will be surprised at how helpful it is. <br /><br /> Second, and this is why I was hungry today, prepare yourself physically. The day before the fast make sure that you get enough liquids and also enough calories. My meals yesterday must have been too skimpy and that is why I got hungry. Some people are depressed and will sleep 12 hours per day. <br /><br /> Many people will wake up after sleeping and feel fine. Then they will go back to sleep and later wake up and be feeling awful. Then they think that they slept too much or too long. This is similar to when you stop smoking. The way to cure your withdrawal symptoms from smoking is to continue without smoking. <br /><br /> The way to cure this problem with sleep or going all day without food, is with fasting. I used to have that problem with feeling bad after going all day without food. Now, I can go weeks without food and I feel fine. Even though it feels bad, this is good for you when you get plenty of sleep. Many people think that sleeping is waste of time. It is not a waste of time. Very important things happen when you are asleep. It is hard to understand this when you do not get the big picture. <br /><br /> The small picture is that you have better things to do. The big picture is that someday you will die and not be able to do anything in the physical world. When you are in deep sleep, you visit that non-physical world that you are in all the time, but you are not aware of it. It is very similar to the place you go when you die. A sleeping person looks like they are dead, but the difference is that they will wake up. Since sleep cannot be controlled, most Americans have problems sleeping. They have to do things to let go of their stress so sleep can just happen. Most people see that they have a fat problem, and they begin to tackle it, but then they give up when the going suddenly gets too tough. For example, perhaps they skip lunch to lose weight, and then drink multiple cups of coffee to get them through the day. But discouragement sets in when they come home, read a health book, and discover that coffee and caffeine drinks are major <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/causes+of+cellulite" rel="tag">causes of cellulite</a>! What's a person to do? (You actually need to increase, not decrease your intake of essential fatty acids if you have cellulite.) <br /><br /> Are you depressed already? I hope not. This is the opposite to what most of the world is doing, but if you try this you will find that you will probably lose about 4 lb a week without changing the amount of food you eat overall. To increase you metabolic burn rate you need to do some type of non-stop aerobic exercise for 35 to 45 minutes at least every second day. Brisk walking is the easiest to do. I've been told Latin dancing is the best! If you do UNDER half an hour, or take rests, you are wasting your time as it won't increase your burn rate! Of course, be careful not to overdo it. Runners and athletes sometimes drop dead in their prime! Do you know why? Could it be that they don't replace the important minerals their body needs in time? They use them up and sweat them out, and so the vital minerals their body needs are gone! They die from lack of what their body just used up! On the other side of the coin, please don't be so idle that you become a vegetable. All life is energy and vibration and movement. <br /><br /> Here are a few other things you can try: <br /><br /> WARM WATER <br /><br /> You can tell if you don't drink enough water - if you have dry skin. Water decreases food cravings and water also increases your metabolic rate. First thing in the morning if you drink three glasses of warm water, (warm is important) you should soon feel the need to go to the toilet. If you don't like plain water, include lemon juice. Do this regularly, and over time your digestive system should improve wonderfully. Is this too hard to do? I think this is a dreary thing to do - I personally prefer other fat loss methods! But it's still good advice! <br /><br /> JUICE <br /><br /> According to all evidence the health results of juice fasting are much better than water fasting. Although fasting in any form can be difficult, it's often claimed that fasting can work real health miracles. Obviously you would want to get a LOT more advice than I've included in this short report before you commit to this method, but I will add the following tip that I've used successfully in the past. A good recipe for a week long cleansing fast consists of a cup of hot or warm water, mixed with plenty of lemon juice, a little honey to suit your taste, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Cayenne pepper also speeds up your metabolism (and by the way, when packed into a wound it will stop the blood flow instantly!). In addition take a tablespoon full of real Canadian maple syrup for sustained energy whenever you feel the need - yum, I can never take just one spoonful, as I find it irresistible! (Make sure you buy genuine maple syrup only, not the imitation stuff). <br /><br /> TWO MORE THINGS: <br /><br /> (1) It almost sounds corny to say it, but try eating an apple every day.
