The French designer Jean Patou was born on 1887 in Normandy, France. His first job was in a small dressmaking shop, Parry, before World War I. He produced his first collection in 1914. In 1919, after serving as Captain of Zouaves during the war, he returned to the fashion industry and opened his own couture house.

Patou's involvement in the evolution of sportswear is extensive, its influence, rather obvious. Clothes were made to be beautiful yet comfortable, functional and simple, with accents limited to seam linings and embroideries, as exemplified by his creation of the cardigan. He developed a fabric for swimwear that resists shrinkage and is non-colorfast. He also invented the knitted swimsuit and tennis skirt. His collection was publicized by famous names such as Wimbledon tennis star Suzanne Lenglen and American aviator Ruth Elder. Women of the 1920s started to imitate this sporty look even if they did not engage in sports.

Patou's vision of the ultimate sportswear collection was realized when he opened Le Coin des Sports, a boutique in Paris that catered to all sorts of sportswear, including accessories. He extended these shops to Deauville and Biarritz, both popular resort areas to travelers.

Patou proved to be a pioneer in ways more than one. In the 1920s, he invented designer ties made from women's dress and the famous cubist sweaters. He is accounted for the first designer label that he had sewn to his designs. He was able to produce exclusive colors through a special dyeing method so as to eradicate competitor replicas. In 1929, he raised the waistline of the skirt and brought it back to its natural hemline - a move that Chanel followed through quickly.

He traveled to the United States in 1924 where he hired six American models and brought them to France to work as mannequins. The American silhouette became a point of emulation for French women and therefore helped boost Patou's sales in addition to the extra profit that scarves, hats and accessories brought to him. It also paved the way for his fame in the American community, which was its target market, aside from a few wealthy French clients.

The House of Patou was created in 1925. It featured his perfume collection, the one element that survived it during the Great Depression when the fashion business crashed. It was in 1935, at the peak of the Depression, that the fragrance Joy was designed by Henri Almeras for Patou's former clients. The floral scent of Joy would create an indelible imprint in the fashion industry decades later.

In 1936, Patou died. His sister, Madeleine and her husband, Raymond Barbas took over the House of Patou so that it remains in family hands until now. By 1982, Parfums Patou was built in London, Milan, Geneva, Australia and Hong Kong. The year 1998 saw the rise of Jean Patou into the forefront of the fragrance industry. Aside from its own line of perfumes, the company was also made a distributor of Hubigant's Quelques Fleurs, and the developer/seller of Yohji Yamamoto's perfumes. However, it is still Joy, the world's most costly fragrance that Patou is best known for. Joy perfume gained recognition as the "Scent of the Century" in UK's Fifi Awards in 2000, outweighing long-time opponent, Chanel No.5. Following the success of Joy, the company introduced fragrances Lacoste and Nacre in 2000 and 2001, respectively. <bio>James Philips is a staff member at http://www.perfumecenter.com </bio>

Blue jeans are as American as apple pie and Mom. Everyone is wearing them from the construction worker in his Carharrt jeans to the fashion model in her Calvin Kleins. With so many styles and brands out there it is difficult to know what to purchase. You want to begin, of course, by knowing you are getting an excellent product for your money. You want a jean that will wear well and last a long time. Carhartt jeans are a perfect example of a well-made pant. Popular with the workers of this country, they work well for the active people out there, too. However, it is very important to purchase the right jean for your body.

Comfort

There is nothing fun or sexy about tight jeans. Most of the time they lead to muffin tops and acid reflux. When you try on a jean, you should be able to comfortably slide you hand between your tummy and the jean. Try sitting down when you try on your jeans and make sure they are not cutting into your midsection.

Color

In today's fashion world jeans come bleached and torn or embroidered and rhinetstoned. Stay away from the gaudy overly worked jean. A simple cut jean is the most flattering. In addition, go for the darker color jean. It slims down you whole body and makes your legs look thinner. Carhartt jeans come in several different colors including dark brown and indigo. Both are flattering to all body types.

Purpose

Before purchasing your jeans determine what you will be doing when you wear them. If they are just going to be for running about town on your days off than a simple boot cut or straight let jean is in order. If you are planning to hike, or do carpentry work or horseback ride you might want a jean that is a little sturdier. Carhartt jeans are the original workers' jean and are built strong and durable. This is a perfect dungaree for a busy and active work or leisure life-style.

Environment

Be cognizant of the type of weather and purchase jeans accordingly. If you are planning to be out in cold temperatures when you plan on wearing your jeans it might be a good idea to add some long johns under those pants. Or you can choose to purchase Carhartt jeans that are flannel lined. These jeans will keep you warm even on the coldest of days.

Storage

Storage might sound like a strange characteristic to consider when purchasing a jean but it could make all the difference. A jean that is being purchased for a person who is involved in construction, or hiking, or fishing, or painting might serve its purpose best with a lot of pockets for storage. These pockets can hold tape measures, fishing line, paint stirrers, a compass or many other items vital to getting through your day. Carhartt jeans have lots of pockets in lots of places to suit any storage hungry wearer.<bio>WorkWear1.com offers a great selection of Carhartt Clothing in addition to a wide variety of Carhartt Jeans and Carhartt Outerwear.</bio>

A perfume is more than a fragrance. It is a way to affect one's mood, coincide with one's personality, and refresh one's spirit. Depending on what you will be doing, where you will be going, and what time of day it is, you will pick which perfume complements you and the situation best. Over time women have come to find that for most situations, French perfume suits them the best.

Perfume is an oil that has a fragrance that strongly appeals to our sense of smell. The oil is taken from flowers, herbs, plants, and seeds that have attractive scents. Over the centuries perfumes have been used as medicine and as offerings for gods and kings. As medicine, perfume was used to help people relax and rejuvenate. Often perfume was used to cover up body odor during times when people couldn't bathe very often. In the 1600s France began producing perfume and found great success in the perfume industry. People of power from all over the world would purchase French perfume. Today French perfume is still desired by the world and is primarily used as a form of beautification.

French Perfumes In Today's Society

With the captivating smells of French perfume, France is still the primary location for making perfume. Some of the most famous French perfumes that are currently used are Chanel No. 5, Joy (created by Jean Patou), Shalimar (made by Guerlain), and Opium (made by Yves Saint Laurent). The French perfumes are enjoyed so much that women will pay anything to get their hands on it. It has this amazing way of attracting people.

Most women have several bottles of perfume in their collection.

They have certain scents that they use for everyday used, some for going on dates, and some for when they are getting dressed up for a nice evening out. Typically if a woman has only one bottle of French perfume she reserves this scent for her dressy nights out. Spraying yourself with these scents is like putting on diamonds ear rings and a fancy dress. Somehow by using French perfume women feel more elegant and appealing. It is a great way to boost your confidence.

If you are lucky enough to own more than one bottle of French perfume, you can have the opportunity of wearing it on a daily basis. Imagine being able to have that feminine, sexy feeling everyday. <bio>Dola Raheem is the author of http://www.perfumessecret.com/why-is-french-perfume-always-in-demand he describes why Designer perfumes are so desirable, and explains how to choose the right perfume </bio>

Best known for his striking, controversial - sometimes, outrageous collection - Jean-Paul Gaultier (born April 24, 1952 in Arcueil, France) never received formal education as a designer. He started creating sketches at a young age and was designing clothes for his mother and grandmother by age 13. At 17, he sent the sketches to renowned couture stylists including Pierre Cardin. His talents impressed Cardin who then hired him as an assistant.

Gaultier spent the next two years working for Cardin before he became a designer for Jacques Estrel and later on, for the House of Patou in Paris where he worked for three years. In 1976, French fashion magazine Mode Internationale featured a number of Gaultier's sketches which received favorable reviews by designers all over the world. That same year he launched his own designer label under Mayagor, while engaging in freelance RTW furs, swimsuits and leather.

Since 1981, Gaultier has been known to produce avant-garden designs, which bore him the name enfant terrible, or the bad boy of French fashion. His style is mainly focused on street wear and popular culture. A popular example would be the conical bra that he designed for Madonna's Blond Ambition Tour. Kilts are also a significant part of his menswear collection, even using them himself on TV events and shows where he acts as presenter, such as Eurotrash. Similarly, his choice of models remains unconventional - from older men and plus-size women to pierced and tattoo-ridden youngsters. Occasionally, he toys with gender roles for exhibitions.

In 1987, Gaultier was awarded French designer of the year. A year after, he launched an affordable sportswear line named Junior Gaultier in Paris, then later to department stores in the United States. In contrast, he planted another store of ready-to-wear clothes for men and women in Paris with high-end prices that were exported to boutiques in uptown Miami, Los Angeles and New York.

The French designer is also known to design wardrobes for motion pictures, including Greenaway's "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover" and the sci-fi thriller "The Fifth Element".

He has also created outfits for artists like Madonna, Marilyn Manson and Les Fatals Picards. During the 90s, New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art hosted an exhibit for him, entitled "Bravehearts - Men in Skirts."

Currently he serves as designer for three collections: his own haute couture and RTWs, and leather clothing for French line Hermes. He also has a fragrance collection which began with Classique for women in 1993, followed by Le Male for men in 1995. Le Male is the highest grossing men's perfume in Europe and holds an equally competitive position in Australia and the US. A third perfume, Fragrance for women, was launched in 2000 although it received relatively low sales. This was followed by a unisex fragrance, Gaultier in 2005. His latest fragrance for men, Fleur du Male was launched in 2007. <bio>James Philips is a staff member at http://www.perfumecenter.com </bio>

From Chapter XII

Jean: We have to die at least once every three or four years. Some of us die once a year. Death =97 thanatos =97 is a very deep instinct of the human race. We've always had rituals of death, transition, and resurrection. We're the first civilization since the Renaissance that has not had a viable mode of catharsis and death; of dying to ourselves =97 and then being reborn. Who is to say how much of the neurosis of psyche and history in the twentieth century =97 all of the catastrophes, the genocides and historical debacle =97 are due to the fact that we could not die and had to objectify and project it with the genocides of millions?

And you, Barbara, want to die, and your time has come to die. It isn't that you won't remember =97 you will. But something has got to be let go of. One of the great male problems is that they've forgotten how to die. That's why there is so much killing; that's why they backslide. Probably once a year we need rituals =97 nice easy blowouts of death =97

Hazel: Purge!

Jean: Yes. And you have to go to a place where you can die. When you come back, having died, then all the old tapes in the world cannot play loud enough to drown out the power of your new being. So you leave for a while; so they backslide; so they create this monolith to the GNP. So what?

Barbara: But they're not doing that, by the way.

Hazel: No, of course not, but they do have big visions of grandeur.

Jean: But you will have died and the power of that creates new life. I personally don't think that Jesus himself died on the cross. I think it was probably someone else up there. But they needed that image in order to create the seeding. There is nothing like someone who has dropped out of time and space and then come back again. Everything you're saying points to the fact that you're dying =97 but you're trying to do it amidst a parade!

[laughter]

Hazel: And they won't let you do it!

Jean: But you're also going to be reborn because that's the nature of the beast. It follows as night the day.

Barbara: Well, I should have died after the Bicentennial!

[laughter]

Jean: Well, I'm sorry, you're dying now. You'd better get out of the parade and do it with dignity in Uganda or =97 Greece is the great place to die if I may say so. The isles of Greece!

Hazel: The part of you, Barbara, that doesn't want to just slip quietly away from that whole thing is the part of you that feels responsible and on the spot. You may be starting something just because you feel you ought to be starting something. It feels better. Everybody looks to you, because are you not the vision of the starter? They all call you a spark plug, and spark plugs are supposed to start things. When you get back to Washington they'll all rush to you and try to infuse you with this thing that they want you to do. And you feel a responsibility to them. I've found myself in that position so many times. It's also a very "mother" sort of function. But the mother role is to push the chicks out of the nest.

Barbara: I have an instinct about this thing. I think that if I were to just pull out, that it would go on. In a way, I'm in the way. I'm really on another level.

Jean: You're on another level and you're not relevant. It's like a bunch of ions trying to congregate around a zany atom, an atom that has gone its own way. Coherence cannot happen unless you get out.

(Reprinted with permission from The Power of Yin).

(Note to editor: We have permission from the three co-authors, Hazel Henderson, Jean Houston and Barbara Marx Hubbard, to run excerpts from their book with the byline The Power of Yin - they are all referenced in the about the author box). <bio>The Power of Yin by evolutionary economist Hazel Henderson; Human Potential Movement founder Jean Houston; and social innovator Barbara Marx Hubbard, is an empowering invitation to help evolve the human community.
The Carhartt Company offers blue jeans for women in multiple sizes and styles. Ranging in size from 0-20 with inseams as low as 28" and as long as 36". There is a Carhartt jean to fit just about any shape or form. Even with such a range of sizes it may be hard to determine which fit of Carhartt jeans is just right for you. Below are some suggestions to find the Carhartt jeans that will perfectly suit your body type.

Long and Lean

Of course if you are lucky enough to have this much sought after figure then just about any jean fit will work for you. You just want to make sure you are able to get a long enough pant leg. Carhartt jeans have inseams that go up to 36".
Petites

If you are 5'4" or shorter Carhartt jeans has just your style. Obviously you want a jean with a short inseam. Carhartt jeans have inseams as short as 28". If you cannot find a style that is short enough then go for the longer version and have the jeans hemmed. Just make sure you opt for the straight cut over the boot cut, as they are easier to shorten.

The Tummy Bulge

Purchase a boot-cut jean because the flare at the bottom of the jean will help balance out that extra bit of tummy. Also look for a jeans that closes across your waist instead of above or below your waistline.

Hipping Out

If your hips are on the voluptuous side look for a jean with a slightly lower waist that fits comfortably without creating a muffin top. A straight leg will work much better as it will create a longer leg and decrease the width of your hips. Stay away from boot cut jeans, as they will only make your thighs seem larger.

Bubble Butt

If you have a bigger booty then stay away from jeans with back pockets that call attention to your behind. Do not purchase jeans with flap pockets or with pockets that have a lot of decoration on them. Carhartt jeans will suit the fanny of any woman, as the pocket design is simple and not ostentatious.

Top Heavy Troubles

For those of you with a larger upper body it is best to draw attention downward. Look for the Cataract jeans in lighter denim colors. The lighter color will also balance out your body better and help make your top appear smaller.

Cutting Crotch

If you find the only trouble you have when you purchase jeans is a pulling or tightness in the crotch, it could be because your body is longer and you have short legs. Try purchasing Carhartt jeans in a petite size regardless of your height.

Not only does Carhartt have jeans to suite every body type but we can also provide jeans to suit any environment or activity. Some of our jean styles come with multiple pockets for holding tools or other equipment. In addition if you find yourself in a frigid environment, you can purchase out toasty flannel lined jeans and stay warm all day.<bio>WorkWear1.com offers a great selection of Carhartt Clothing in addition to a wide variety of Carhartt Jeans and Carhartt Outerwear.</bio>

Of course there's the fact that most of them have the unmistakable flair leg and andquot;boot cutandquot; - making them wearable with your favorite pair of cowgirl boots. Lots of western jean manufacturers, such as Rocky Mountain Jeans also show a slim fit, straight leg jean, or andquot;slimandquot; jeans at they call them. Then of course there's the ornamentation on some of them. Some western jeans can be very fancy. They are embellished with floral designs on the leg below the knee, some have patches and embroidery on the back pockets. Still other western jeans are studded with varying designs of rhinestones and faux turquoise and some have peek-a-boo cut out designs.

Western jeans have followed the low rise trend, with some brands such as Cruel Girl jeans having what they call their andquot;Legacyandquot; super low rise jeans. Some have button fly closures. Wrangler, a jean maker for almost sixty years now is still big in western wear and they are also following trends with low rise and button fly women's western jeans.

Western jeans come in all types of denim washes, from dark blue denim to faded stonewash and everything in between. Prefer robin's egg blue or electric pink? You'll find them too. Going to a special event or want a dressier jean? How about black. Some western jean manufacturers such as Lawman's are also making jeans in stretch material - a comfortable blessing for most women.

So, it seems that western jeans come in such as array of styles, colors, designs and fabrics that you can find just about any type of jean you're looking for.

What makes western jeans andquot;western jeansandquot; in my mind is the shirt, belt, shoes and other andquot;accessoriesandquot;, along with the state of mind that a women picks to go with them. When a woman pairs her jeans with pink crocodile Ariat slip ons or Justin Caliente boots in red she's saying andquot;these are western jeans.andquot; When she chooses a decidedly country shirt, one with embroidery and a vintage yolk, she's saying andquot;these are western jeans.andquot;

When she pairs those jeans with a pair of open toe wedges or a pair of tri color leather platform oxfords, a flimsy mesh tunic, a silk v neck camisole with spaghetti straps or a charmeuse wrap top she's taking western jeans to a whole new level. <bio>To learn more about http://www.womens-jeans-design.info please visit http://www.womens-jeans-solution.info </bio>

From Chapter IV:

Jean: Dante's closing words in The Divine Comedy: "l'amor che muove il sol e l'altre stelle." The love that moves the sun and the other stars. And, you know, we ultimately come down to that. What is it about? It's about that apprehension of union, of connection, not just with one, but with the plurality of being =97 which then primes all further growth.

Barbara: This is the vision that has motivated me: the vision of being part of the body of humankind, and that body struggling to become one and moving towards the sense of universal life. It wasn't Barbara Hubbard connecting with God.

Hazel: Yes, I've always sensed that in you.

Barbara: And I don't think it's Hazel Henderson making just the personal link.

Hazel: Oh no.

Barbara: And you, Jean, wouldn't be working out in the world as you do, and at the New School for Social Research.

Jean: And with all of the little black children and prisoners.

Hazel: It's really the attempt to link the organic human species body.

Barbara: Maybe we've hit upon one of the key elements of feminine consciousness: putting that effort first.

Hazel: Yes!

Barbara: Each one of us could have pursued a life of deep contemplation. We could have become yogis. You probably are one, Jean, but you don't spend all of your time in a lotus position. You are out in the world.

Jean: Yogi means union.

Barbara: Yes, but in the traditional forms, yogis spent a great deal of time isolated from the world. You have a tremendously active life. And so does Hazel, and so do I. You, being a real worker in the spiritual field, are manifesting this sense externally.

Jean: This is the new form of Eros!

Barbara: I have a vision of you as seeing all of the members of the human species, and being attracted to the potential of each one. And the more that you can reach with your power to emancipate them, the more the human species will be able to connect. You have a very powerful motivation to reach a lot of people. How do you see that desire to reach as many as possible?

Jean: Well, it didn't begin that way. From about 1960 until about five years ago I had been working with thousands of individuals on a one-to-one basis. And then I began to realize that these things could happen =97 it works! And now I've gotten rid of a lot of the little local self=97the galloping hubris and a certain arrogance that comes from having been too successful too early, and a college professor at nineteen. That's a lot of garbage! If you can get rid of that, the channels become much clearer. When you get rid of the unnecessary ego protections - leaving enough, of course, to keep body and mind and soul together, and to make you get up in the morning =97 then the flow to others becomes very natural. It's not a question of having to go out and reach more people; it's just that one is prepared, and the natural ecology of things demands it. But I'm glad I wasn't cut loose on the world fifteen years ago!

Barbara: But you're cut loose on the world now.

Jean: Yes, but in a condition I hope and pray is not ego conditioned. And it has to be cleaned out and revitalized every morning! Not for reasons of ego, but because of the accumulation of garbage =97 people projecting things on to you: angers; fears; hostilities. You know all about that.

Hazel: Yes, right.

Barbara: How do you clear out in the morning?

Jean: Well, there are many ways of doing it. I lie there, and my mind becomes a marvelous emptiness, and a great expanse. It's the breathing into that and realizing that I am no-thing ... and that when being began nothing mattered. [laughter] But it needs constant observation. Any moment that I'm a little suspicious that I'm doing something for reasons that might be ambitious or personal =97 I stop.

Hazel: Isn't that interesting, Jean, the extension to the next level of the observer/observed thing. This is very important to me; I find that I'm constantly watching myself. If I find that I'm doing things hysterically, or for ego needs, or for any of the old motivations that I'm trying to shed, I want to monitor it and get rid of it. We've recreated the old dichotomy on the next level.

(Reprinted with permission from The Power of Yin). <bio>The Power of Yin by evolutionary economist Hazel Henderson; Human Potential Movement founder Jean Houston; and social innovator Barbara Marx Hubbard, is an empowering invitation to help evolve the human community.
Jean Prouve was a pioneer when it came to conceptualizing design and was one of the founders of the nomadic school of thought where a chair and a house are essentially equal and both need to be portable. His designs took into account how his creations were going to be used and he designed them in such a way as to ensure longevity and comfort for the user. His metal furniture is sought all over the world. They are all the rage.

His bow to practicality endures that his designs are sought for. His standard chair that he designed for Vitra is an example of how he uses simple designs that ensure the longevity of the furniture while providing maximum comfort to the users. In the early 40's he was attracted by wood as a building material and designed a series of tables using wood as the constructing material. He designed the various parts of the table and provided stability by using folded sheet metal to bind them together.

Jean Prouve designed a series of tables named Gueridon Bas Table, Trapeze Table, Em table, Granito Table, Compas Table and Gueridon Table. The design of the Trapeze Table prompted Le Corbusier to state that he had the soul of an artist and an engineer. This was originally designed for the Cite Universitaire at Antony. In addition to this he designed a series of armchairs, lounges, bar stools, cocktail tables, worktables, wall mounted shelving, storage spaces and wall and ceiling lamps.

Jean Prouve was well known for his sketches and he did a fair number of them of buildings in and around Paris. He was more interested in the practicality of the designs of various buildings. He was someone who knew how to combine creativity with entrepreneurship and work ethics. He combined handicrafts and industry, design and architecture and ever extending his experience. He was known for introducing the machine age and industry inspired designs.

Jean Prouve began working with aluminum and steel but then moved to all kinds of other materials. He was not just a designer. He was considered to be an engineer as well. He lived by a simple motto, "Never design anything that cannot be made". He never was interested in designing an object for design's sake. He was more interested in the essence of materials and how they would impact his design and what his deigns were going to be used for. 1950s saw him abandon his design based on modern engineering and concentrate on pre-fabricated buildings for the various refugees who came up as a result of the II World War.

His work, influenced the styles of Norman Foster and Renzo Piano, more popular designers, he is relatively unknown. His works are sought after by the connoisseurs, museums and hard core collectors but the general public has no idea about his brilliance. His designs for Vitra, a furniture company, however have become popular of late and furniture made with his designs is being auctioned off at Wright20.com. Vitra have also started reproducing his designs after obtaining permission from his estate.<bio>Take a look at furniture designers.
From Chapter IV:

Barbara: I think that part of this urgency that we all feel, if it's at all legitimate, has to do with this sense that the connecting and coordinating functions on this planet are occurring very rapidly. It's perhaps comparable to a certain moment in the process of birth. We have to learn to handle our environmental crises; we have to learn to stop polluting our habitat; we have to learn to identify with all of humanity and not to have nuclear conflict. These are all new skills.

Jean: In terms of the known history of the human race, we are at the most critical nexus for survival or death of the species. And we are also at the threshold of a richer and more extended mode of being than the human race has ever known. We are living right now in that critical time phase. It's probably a fifty-year period =97 maybe less.

Barbara: I sense that myself. What are the elements of that criticality, Jean, as you sense it?

Jean: Well, I think we've been talking about that criticality all day. We've been talking about the great disparity between the objectification of the world and the subjective factors that will allow us to orchestrate that objectification. And then there is the critical density of global interdependence =97 this is frightening! I cannot cough without there being repercussions at great distances; this is a metaphor, of course, but the point is true. We've never before had a globally interdependent society. We have never had societies in which the ecology of things has become so thick that there is no innocence anywhere. And that is probably the most frightening thing of all. I mean, what General Motors may do does make a difference. What I think does make a difference. We needn't talk anymore about having to convince the higher-ups; the density is such that it has radically democratized the difference between higher-ups and lower-downs. What you do can make as much difference to the saving of a planet as anything anybody else can do =97 be it President Carter or MacGeorge Bundy, the head of the Ford Foundation. My old friend John Platt, who has done some writing on hierarchical structuring =97

Hazel: Step function.

Jean: Step function, yes. As he points out, when you get to critical density, one little quantum change, and suddenly =97 the entire structure falls! The French Revolution: the work of centuries was overthrown in months!

In six thousand years of known history we have never known a situation like this. It's probably more like seven thousand years. And it's probably safe to say one hundred thousand years before that. We can no longer say: "Oh, nothing new under the sun; I'm just gonna sit like a bump on a log." There is no way that we can do that! We are at the critical nexus of this historical time!

Hazel: I think we all sense that, and that's what gives us the sense of urgency, and our different ways of expressing the energy overdrive. I think that this sense of urgency really is a survival thing =97 it has nothing to do with ego in the male sense.

Jean: Well, this is why the female principle is rising! It's a reality arising in time. The male ego as structured in this time is not sufficient to be able to deal with these kinds of things!

Barbara: It's a maternal urgency.

Jean: Yes! A maternal urgency and a great blowout in receptivity that you find in feminine function as it has been structured.

(Reprinted with permission from The Power of Yin) <bio>The Power of Yin by evolutionary economist Hazel Henderson; Human Potential Movement founder Jean Houston; and social innovator Barbara Marx Hubbard, is an empowering invitation to help evolve the human community.
Among different type of great parties, "jean" party is one of them. For the entertainment of eleven to thirteen years old girls this party deserved to be thrown.

There's a bit of tomboy in every lass that bubbles with joy at the suggestion of a "Jean" party. In our neighborhood jean parties are the popular Friday night entertainment for the eleven-to-thirteen-year-old girls. Kristen's party was typical.

Kristen invited her crowd for supper, and for the jean crowd, believe it or not, that means wieners and buns, potato chips, dill pickles, baked beans and spaghetti; favorite dishes of the jeanites. As Kristen's mother said, "Those youngsters would eat that food every night, if they were at a party."

If the moon is bright, Kristen says, the crowd likes nothing better than an old-fashioned game of "Hide and Seek." Just in case some of the girls might be inclined to wander too far away, thereby getting out of hand, there are strict rules requiring the girls to hide only in and around Kristen's yard.

For the ordinary get-together party nothing is considered more fun than quizzes and guessing contests. One of the popular games is "Guess It." Divide the girls into teams of four and seat them around a card table. The leader of each team leaves the room with the hostess. The leaders are told to return to their tables and draw something. It may be a picture of Betsy Ross at work on the first flag or any other subject the leaders may decide upon. If the leaders have no artistic ability so much the funnier. The object of the game is for the girls at each table to guess just what it is their leader is drawing. The table finishing first is the winner.

Another popular stunt at Kristen's party was a musical spell down. The girls divided into two groups and stood facing each other. Kristen acted as pronouncer by playing snatches of tunes at the piano. If the first girl at the head of the line could not name the tune being played she sat down. Then the girl at the head of the line opposite took her chance, and so on down the two lines. The last one to stand was the winner.

"Jay-walking" is a good jean-party game. The girls line up in two teams of equal numbers and the first one on each team is given a cane (a yardstick will do). She rests her forehead on her hands on the cane handle, keeps her eyes on the floor, while she circles the cane six times. When she finishes the sixth round she walks to the opposite end of the room, touches a designated spot on the wall, then goes back to the starting point and yields the cane to the next contestant in line. This doesn't sound exciting, but the dizzy stagger of the contestants is very funny. Each contestant is sure he can do it without staggering.

Youngsters girls likes to do something different, unusual and funny, above all at this age they likes laughing.
I am looking to rent a luxury villa on the Cote d'Azur and I have been suggested Beaulieu, St Jean Cap Ferrat, and Villefranche. I have done some research about the areas, and the possibilities regarding rental villas in these Cote d'Azur Villages.

When looking for a rental villa on the Cote D'Azur it is hard to know where to start looking. There are so many fantastic little villages and the choice of villa is rather large. So I selected 3 villages which my friends had said were very good. These were Beaulieu, St Jean Cap Ferrat, and Villefranche.

Beaulieu-sur-mer, St Jean Cap Ferrat and Villefranche are very close to each other, and are to the eastern side of Nice and to the west of Monaco, with good links to the international airport and the train station where the high speed train comes from Paris, Marseille, and Lyon. These French towns and villages are in the Alps Maritimes department and have a large selection of the elite villas to let on the French Riviera.

Beaulieu-sur-mer has been very popular destination for the rich and famous, and there is a certain kudos of renting a villa in Beaulieu. Beaulieu is a wealthy resort owing mainly to its port where luxury yachts park up during the summer months. With ocean views from your villa, and proximity to Beaulieu's little cafes and restaurants which you can find on the little marina, the town it is a great place for a family holiday on the Cote D'Azur. Beaulieu has a great climate, because the mountains behind Beaulieu protecting the town from the Mistrale winds which affect most of the Cote D'Azur. As a result villa rental during the winter months has become increasingly popular. Villas in Beaulieu have stunning Mediterranean gardens with stately palm trees, the acacia trees with their yellow mimosa flowers along with spiky yuccas, and phormiums alongside the Cypress and olive trees. Beaulieu has history, and was home to the Romans, however there in no 'old town' as such. Holiday makers come bursting into the main square backed by the hills behind the town spotted with luxury villas. There is a nice sandy beach near the town centre.

Only 2km down from Beaulieu, St Jean Cap Ferrat is the luxury promontory which stretches out into the Mediterranean sea in between Bealieu and Villefranche. Now if Beaulieu is well to do, St Jean Cap Ferrat is a honey pot for the planet's millionaires. Villas in St Jean Cap Ferrat are beautiful stately homes with pools shrouded in trees and lush colourful plants, overlooking the sparkling water of the Med, and the prestigious yachts which moor up outside Beaulieu. There a private beaches spotted along St Paul Cap Ferrat and the magnificent Cote D'azur climate makes it a super holiday spot summer or winter. Walking along the peninsula with views over the boats below is a daily routine when renting a villa in St Jean Cap Ferrat, and there is some of the most delightful French cuisine served at the group of restaurants at the marina. If you have come to sunbathe, then the three protected beaches of Paloma, Passable, and Pei Pen are perfect day trip. A people watching place St Jean Cap Ferrat is a place to melange with the rich and famous.

Villefranche has a spectacular setting on the eastern side of the prestigious golden triangle. Renting a villa in Villefranche is more than worthwhile, and the village or small town is the perfect place to come on vacation. The lovely little restaurants in courtyards or out on the cobbled streets make for relaxing evenings out when you venture from your Villefranche villa. There is a superb public sandy beach at Villefranche which is ideal for total relaxation snorkelling and swimming. Beaches in Nice have pebbles, so it is nice to have sand in between your toes. You are very close to Nice so get the advantages of being close to the airport and train station, and shopping, but being by the sea away from all the hustle and bustle.

I suppose depending on what sort of person you are will depend where you rent your luxury villa on the Cote D'Azur. Be exclusive on the promontory of St Jean Cap Ferrat, by the sea in Beaulieu-sur-mer, or in the quirky little streets in Villfranche for a family holiday. Either way you will get the best from villa rental on the Cote D'Azur.<bio>Luxury rental villas in Beaulieu, villas to rent in Villefranche, and luxury villas in St Jean Cap Ferrat on the Cote D'Azur.</bio>

Located on the island of Vanua Levu on 17 acres of a coconut plantation, the accommodations overlook the peaceful waters of Savusavu Bay. The acclaimed resort is an international favorite for romance, honeymoons and weddings; scuba diving; and families, who want to combine heavenly surroundings and exceptional dining with an unsurpassed range of eco-friendly activities.

Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands resort is the only resort that employs a full-time marine biologist to help visitors appreciate the underwater world of Fiji.

The Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort is an island resort, which means there are no televisions, phones, wireless internet access, etc.

If you need these things to have a great vacation then choose another resort.

On the other hand if you are happy in the company of friends and the wonderful people of Fiji, then this is the place for you.

The layout and the accommodation at the resort were both upscale and luxurious, much better than the photographs led us to believe.

We stayed in a garden bure, which was 30ft behind the Beach-front bure. The bure was large and breezy with an overhead fan. If you need air conditioning then you are in the wrong resort!! You will find a number of bug repellents in the bure, and you will need them for there is a mosquito problem.

The bathroom was quite spacious and well supplied with thick towels. There was a mini-bar and all sorts of drinks that were replenished daily. There were also a coffee and tea makers with different varieties of tea.

I'd opt for a Garden Bure, if only because there isn't much of a beach at the beachfront, and it is a lot windier.

If you're into beaches then go somewhere else.

The beach is poor, in fact all you will find are rock pools and mangroves, and significantly the small beach there is did not have any sunbathers on it. It is more of a sandy strip full of shells that leads into a coral tide area. This tide pools are great for studying local wild life. The best entry into the water is from the pier.

The staff were some of the best I've encountered and everyone was very friendly and accommodating.

The food was exquisite and gourmet with lots of fresh fish, probably best described as light island fare.

One could order a second helping of anything.

Everyday brought a new menu both at lunch and dinner.

There is a good wine list, but the wines by the glass were not so good.

There was a wide choice at breakfast.

There are two major shortfalls here, apart from the lack of beach in a Pacific Ocean Island paradise!!

The facilities for small children are superb, with the all encompassing Bula Club, however if your children are slightly older but not old enough to scuba dive, there are all sorts of rules and regulations for them to keep them out of adult vision and hearing.

The Children's food was somewhat of the fast food variety, and I found it intolerable that children could not use the adult salt water pool at certain times.

In addition the scuba diving was not all it might have been.

Finally =96 beware falling coconuts, you will be asked to sign a waiver clause in case you get hit!! <bio>Peter Stewart travels, and writes for http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com </bio>

Many people want to have designer jeans =96 who doesn't? Brands like Antik Denim, Blue Cult, Chip and Pepper, Lucky Brand Jeans and ljT jeans, as well as Christopher Blue, J and company, and Kasil do wonders for people. WE all want to look like that, and we all think that wearing designer jeans is some how going to make us look like that. However, great brands don't always come in all sizes. You might have to hunt a little bit, but you'll find jeans that fit if you know where to look.

For instances, you should know that almost all brands of jeans carry all sizes to fit your needs. You should be able to find both plus size jeans and true jeans in all different brands. You can find premium denim no matter what size you are, if you know where to look. One of the greatest things about both women's jeans and men's jeans is that you can find jeans that fit in all different brands. Fit jeans are important, because the better the jeans fit, the better you are going to feel about yourself.

There are some brands that deal in specialty sizes. Brands like little in the middle and odyn as well as pin IV and Red Engine all have special sizes that can fit you no matter where you are. River Road, Siwy, Worn and Wrangler all have special values to their sizes, to accommodate for being extra big, extra small, or somewhere in between. There are brands that have tall jeans and short jeans, so most of the time it's a matter of simply finding the ones that you want to make your jean style complete.

The best way to find the sizes that work for you is to ask. Most of the time, stores aren't going to put out all of the sizes that they have. However if you shop online you are guaranteed to see all of the sizes. A great thing to do is to go to the website of the jean company and see what they have to offer so that while you are shopping you can keep in mind which brands have jeans that will be your size and that will fit your needs. This way, if you are at a store and you don't' find the designer jeans that you want, you can simply ask them what other sizes they have and what they can order for you. Most of the time you should be able to find a store that will carry the size jeans you are looking for. If not, shopping online can be a great experience because you can see all the jeans that they have to offer and you can get them sent right to your door, sometimes even the very next day. <bio>Jeff Carlisle is a freelance editor for Blues Denim.
As everyone knows, jeans are a simple pant made from a fabric called denim. They have quite a colorful history and are an integral part of the growth of the American West. They were a popular garment for cowboys, outlaws, farmers, and railroad workers. Some brands of jeans have been around for quite a few generations. Brands like Levi's, Wrangler and Carhartt jeans have all survived and contributed to the growth of this great nation: America.

Before There Were Jeans

Prior to blue jeans there was an indigo cloth exported from India during the 16th century called dungaree. It was very thick and made of cotton and sailors used it to make clothes.

The jeans fabric itself was first made in the late 1600s in Italy. It was first made for the Italian navy as the fabric could be worn either wet or dry. In addition its versatility allowed the legs to rolled up while washing the boat decks and it could be easily washed with a ducking in the ocean. This fabric came to be called denim.

The Rivets

Sailors brought their denim trousers to the Americas with them on their voyages of discovery. The farmers and ranchers in the states soon adopted them and they gradually made their way out west to be adopted by cowboys and miners of the day. One day a salesman named Levi Straus noticed a miner kept on purchasing his cloth to reinforce pants he was wearing that kept on ripping while he worked the mines. The miner eventually decided to reinforce the pants with copper rivets in areas that were prone to be torn. Levi suggested they go into business together and the rivet jean was born.

On The Railroad

It seems engineers and railroad workers had a similar problem to the miners of the time. Working around heavy machinery resulted in pants and shirts that were easily shredded and torn. Thanks to the discovery of Hamilton Carhartt, Carhartt jeans came to the rescue of the train engineers. Carhartt jeans were also a denim blue jean with a twist. They had a bib top to protect the shirts of the railroad engineer and railroad worker. In addition Carhartt jeans were so durable and long lasting they gained a reputation as the worker's jean.

Jeans In Culture

Blue jeans, like Carhartt jeans, became quite popular with factory workers during the Second World War. Jeans became a symbol of protest by teenagers during the 1950s and in some areas of the country youngsters wearing jeans were banned from admittance to establishments. By the 1960s and 1970 jeans became an acceptable mode of fashion. In today's society jeans are a necessity and part of every persons wardrobe from senior citizens to toddlers. In addition, the popularity of blue jeans is now global making its mark in the Soviet Union and China.

Today denim blue jeans can be stonewashed, bleached, distressed or shredded. One pair can cost $1000.00 or $19.95 at your local discount store. They can for made for the fashion forward by such designers as Calvin Klein or Gloria Vanderbilt. Or, they can be made with the sole purpose of serving the worker as a lasting durable garment intended to withstand stress and extreme wear like Carhartt jeans.<bio>WorkWear1.com offers a great selection of Carhartt Clothing in addition to a wide variety of Carhartt Jeans and Carhartt Outerwear.</bio>

From Chapter VII:

Hazel: Let's talk for a moment about vision, which I think relates very closely to this movement towards cosmic consciousness we've been discussing. One of the things which I have learned in my own life, is that certain things are essential if one is to become part of the new being. One must have, first of all, the intuition, and the faith, that is a vision=97even if you haven't yet any clearly defined sense of that vision. Faith is very important; you can't give up on that vision, even if it is vague . . . I have always had that faith. And even if everyone around doubted it, it was real, it emerged. I have always had trust in the very deep levels of the vision.

Jean: And even if unseen, these things are real. They are there in their loaded, coded potencies.

Hazel: And we know how these unseen visions manifest themselves in very concrete ways.

Jean: Everything beings in vision. Would you like to know something about the physics of envisioning? It's quite interesting.

Hazel: Yes! That would be interesting.

Jean: Well, suppose you have something held very vividly as an image, or as a feeling =97 it can be touched, smelled, tasted . . .. Somehow this switches on to the autonomic system, which is a very deep system relating to older areas of the brain. We have reason to believe that the autonomic system, when it is activated by images, is related to the bioplasmic fields that surround the body.

Hazel: Biosplasmic fields?

Jean: The electromagnetic fields surrounding the body. The image thus held sets up a wave frequency into the fields surrounding the body. This then, since we are ecosystems within ecosystems, envelopes within envelopes, sets up a wave system in other ecologies that are around us. In point of fact you do, quite concretely and quite physically, send images out into the atmosphere.

So, be careful of what you really want, because you're likely to get it. In other words, there is an ecology of happening =97 of how things happen. Your system sets up an imaginal wave that changes the electron balance, which changes other electron balances, and it begins on microcosmic levels to be encoded into the environment =97 so that what you really wish beings to occur.

Now, there are people who are able to sustain this, and they are the great optimists of the world =97 like Margaret Mead, for instance. Margaret gets almost everything she wants =97 because she is sure that reality would not dare to do otherwise! [laughter] Her reality is one of intense imagery: any event she sees, touches, hears, feels, smells. She feels it absolutely; she sends it out; she talks about it; and it begins to cohere. A deeply held thought, feeling, or image is literally a seed planted in the fields that surround us.

Barbara: So there is then a physiological basis for the envisioning process.

Jean: Yes. There are a lot of steps that we don't know, but the oscillation wave function of the autonomic system with respect to deeply held image is certainly part of it.

Hazel: Is there some kind of a theory that might be analogous to critical mass? Step theory? In other words, if enough people are imaging the same thing powerfully enough, and resonating, you do create the manifestation of that image.

Jean: Oh sure. There are many instances of this. Have you ever heard, for example, the story of rather queer group of thinkers in Britain who collectively projected the image of Rudolf Hess coming over to England? They did this for months: "Rudolf Hess, come over! Rudolf Hess, come over!" And for no particular reason Rudolf Hess got on a plane one day and flew over!

Hazel: No, I'd never heard that. Is it true?

Jean: Oh yes! Yes! They did it for months! And they actually brought him over. So, if you have a group of people that begins to work together =97 I mean a prayer circle is that kind of thing. Very frequently people are cured after prayer circles. Not the usual Christian prayer circle =97 "Oh, dear Lord, please!" =97 because then you're missing your step function. It's a level of affirmation, and the perception of a different reality.

Reality is as we construct it! There is a wonderful science fiction story =97 a John Collier story =97 that brings this idea home. It seems that a commuter train was pulling out of Paddington Station, and it leaped the track. And suddenly =97 wham! =97 it seemed to be back on the track again. And you see all the gentlemen in the first-class section reading their London Times. But the train starts going down=97for hours and hours. "I say!" says one of the gentlemen, "we seem to have had a bit of a drop." And he goes on reading his London Times. But the train keeps hurtling downward. Eventually smoke begins to fill the compartment; fire is all around them. Finally, the train comes to a stop and they all get out.

And here come all these curious little red men with long tails and pitchforks: "Get your burn cream here! Four shillings for burn cream!" "Get away from me, you filthy little man!" says one of the gentlemen. But he continues to make such a pest of himself that finally one rather dandy-looking young man says to him: "Do you know what? I don't believe in you!" "What did you say, sir?" says this repugnant little creature. "You beastly little thing, I don't believe in you!" "Oh, don't say that, sir!" "You beastly little thing, I don't believe in you!" And all of a sudden they find themselves back on the train, pulling into the station as usual. The next scene shows this same young man standing in front of the Bank of England shaking his fist and saying: "I don't believe in you!" [laughter]

But reality, in a curious way, is really like that! We are not innocent observers of the environment. One person can become a critical mass. It's better if there are more, of course. But a powerful imagizer =97 like Margaret Mead, who has no doubt about the effectiveness of her thought on the environment =97 gets about ninety percent return. It's a kind of metaphysical chutzpah that you have to have.

Hazel: But, you know, that image of standing in front of the Bank of England saying, "I don't believe in you!" and seeing the building begin to crack apart. That's the image of the imperial system right now.

Jean: Yes. That's what's happening. It's the people in the lower hierarchical levels who are saying "I don't believe!" and it is happening.

(Reprinted with permission from The Power of Yin).

(Note to editor: We have permission from the three co-authors, Hazel Henderson, Jean Houston and Barbara Marx Hubbard, to run excerpts from their book with the author credit to be The Power of Yin - they are all referenced in the about the author box.) <bio>The Power of Yin by evolutionary economist Hazel Henderson; Human Potential Movement founder Jean Houston; and social innovator Barbara Marx Hubbard, is an empowering invitation to help evolve the human community.
Success is so much more than economic gains, titles, and degrees. Planning for success is about mapping out all the aspects of your life. Like a map, you need to define the following details: origin, destination, vehicle, backpack, landmarks, and route.

Origin: Who you are

A map has a starting point. Your origin is who you are right now. Most people when asked to introduce themselves would say, "Hi, I'm Jean and I am a 17-year old, senior highschool student." It does not tell you about who Jean is; it only tells you her present preoccupation.

To gain insights about yourself, you need to look closely at your beliefs, values, and principles aside from your economic, professional, cultural, and civil status. Moreover, you can also reflect on your experiences to give you insights on your good and not-so-good traits, skills, knowledge, strengths, and weaknesses. Upon introspection, Jean realized that she was highly motivated, generous, service-oriented, but impatient. Her inclination was in the biological-medical field. Furthermore, she believed that life must serve a purpose, and that wars were destructive to human dignity.

Destination: A vision of who you want to be

"Who do want to be?" This is your vision. Now it is important that you know yourself so that you would have a clearer idea of who you want to be; and the things you want to change whether they are attitudes, habits, or points of view. If you hardly know yourself, then your vision and targets for the future would also be unclear. Your destination should cover all the aspects of your being: the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. Continuing Jean's story, after she defined her beliefs, values, and principles in life, she decided that she wanted to have a life dedicated in serving her fellowmen.

Vehicle: Your Mission

A vehicle is the means by which you can reach your destination. It can be analogized to your mission or vocation in life. To a great extent, your mission would depend on what you know about yourself. Bases on Jeanís self-assessment, she decided that she was suited to become a doctor, and that she wanted to become one. Her chosen vocation was a medical doctor. Describing her vision-mission fully: it was to live a life dedicated to serving her fellowmen as a doctor in conflict-areas.

Travel Bag: Your knowledge, skills, and attitude

Food, drinks, medicines, and other travelling necessities are contained in a bag. Applying this concept to your life map, you also bring with you certain knowledge, skills, and attitudes. These determine your competence and help you in attaining your vision. Given such, there is a need for you to assess what knowledge, skills, and attitudes you have at present and what you need to gain along the way. This two-fold assessment will give you insights on your landmarks or measures of success. Jean realized that she needed to gain professional knowledge and skills on medicine so that she could become a doctor. She knew that she was a bit impatient with people so she realized that this was something she wanted to change.

Landmarks and Route: S.M.A.R.T. objectives

Landmarks confirm if you are on the right track while the route determines the travel time. Thus, in planning out your life, you also need to have landmarks and a route. These landmarks are your measures of success. These measures must be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time bound. Thus you cannot set two major landmarks such as earning a master's degree and a doctorate degree within a period of three years, since the minimum number of years to complete a masterís degree is two years. Going back to Jean as an example, she identified the following landmarks in her life map: completing a bachelorís degree in biology by the age of 21; completing medicine by the age of 27; earning her specialization in infectious diseases by the age of 30; getting deployed in local public hospitals of their town by the age of 32; and serving as doctor in war-torn areas by the age of 35.

Anticipate Turns, Detours, and Potholes

The purpose of your life map is to minimize hasty and spur-of-the-moment decisions that can make you lose your way. But oftentimes our plans are modified along the way due to some inconveniences, delays, and other situations beyond our control. Like in any path, there are turns, detours, and potholes thus; we must anticipate them and adjust accordingly.

If you are looking for a vehicle that will take you to your life destination, check out this exciting online home based business opportunity.
Jeans are often considered as classics. Almost everyone, from toddlers to the elderly own at least a pair of jeans. Men used jeans as their classic uniform for years, while women often take the classic and put twists to update its look. Seven jeans used to be the staple in every woman's wardrobe. This is with good reason because the brand is one of the top jean-makers who offer great variety in terms of style and color. One could almost be certain to find the right pair in a Seven store.

Aside from the Seven jeans brand, another seemingly endless jean trend surfaced which is a far cry from the tight look of the 80's and 90's. The loose and baggy work pants style jeans which not only hide women's shape, but also cause unflattering silhouettes. These came with the new hiphop culture and was seen from rappers, to groupies, teenagers, and Hollywood stars. Fortunately, these trend in women's wear wore off soon enough and the only people left wearing them were male rappers.

Nowadays, women's jeans have more variety other than the super tight and high waisted jeans of the 80's. Gone are the days when women often wore too long blouses and shirts to cover up the bulges caused by the unrelenting denim fabric. Baggy jeans are also considered as fashion flubs. Jeans today are all about choices and more choices. This variety of choices makes jeans shopping quite a task. From rise, cut, wash, and texture, it has become a challenge to find the single perfect pair. But still, the old adage stands true. Buy jeans that fit your body well while accentuating your assets and skimming over your flaws. In short, use your body type as a guide in buying jeans.

Fashion insiders claim that the new trend in jeans today is the tight jeans. But this kind of tight jeans are not the 80's type. They are called tight but actually are just form-fitting. These are the most flattering jean style in market today because they follow the body's contours and are generally flattering to all shapes. Plus, these usually have Lycra in the fabric which in turn give them a bit of stretch and allow them to be more forgiving to bulges. Bootleg and straight cut tight jeans are usually preferred because they are the most flattering cuts. Dark colors also add up the slimming effect of these jeans. Stylists generally agree that pockets are important in either minimizing or enlarging backsides. Small pockets make behinds look larger, so these are perfect for women with bigger upper bodies for a balanced appearance. Big pockets serve to give the illusion of a smaller derriere. Fashion experts also insist that contrary to popular belief, low waist jeans are not only for people with perfect midsections. These jeans are generally flattering to all shapes of women.

Whether you're thinking of buying low waist jeans, seven jeans, women's jeans, tight jeans, or stretch jeans, buy jeans that make you feel comfortable and confident. After all it is the attitude and confidence that really makes or break a person's look. As a last reminder, a perfect pair of jeans can do wonders for your confidence. <bio>For more valuable information on jeans, please visit http://www.sexy-jeans.net </bio>
