<content:encoded><![CDATA[Do you know what your immune system is? The parts your immune system is made up of? How it works? Those are the things that we'll explore in this article. <br /><br /> What Is Your Immune System? <br /><br /> Your immune system is your body's defense system. Whenever any kind of pathogen, such as a virus, bacteria, or such, enters your body, it is the immune system's job to find, destroy, and remove the pathogen. In short, the immune system is designed to keep you free from disease. <br /><br /> How your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/immune+system+works" rel="tag">Immune System Works</a> <br /><br /> Your immune system is divided into two parts: the innate part and the adaptive part. <br /><br /> The innate part of your immune system is the part of your immune system that is always there and guarding against infection or disease. It is your first line of defense. <br /><br /> Parts of the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/innate+immune+system" rel="tag">innate immune system</a> include neutrophils, macrophages, and dendritic cells. <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/natural+killer+cells" rel="tag">Natural Killer Cells</a>, or NKC's, are also part of your innate immune system. They are specially able at killing cells infected with a virus, as well as cancer cells. <br /><br /> Your innate immune system also includes parts like your skin mucous membranes, and other parts that protect your health by blocking or keeping out pathogens. <br /><br /> Your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/adaptive+immune+system" rel="tag">adaptive immune system</a> is the part of your system that adapts to respond to threats to your health. The adaptive part of your immune system is the reason that you generally will not get the same common cold virus or <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/chickenpox" rel="tag">chickenpox</a> more than once. <br /><br /> Your adaptive immune system is made up of two primary components: antibodies and T-cells. Each of these types is designed to recognize specific types of virus-infected cells, bacteria, or other pathogens. <br /><br /> Note that this is a very generalized overview of how your immune system works. For a more precise explanation, see an encyclopedia or medical textbook. <br /><br /> Nutrition and your immune system <br /><br /> There are many nutrients that play a role in your immune function. Here are just a few of them: <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/glyconutrients" rel="tag">Glyconutrients</a> are an important part of the immune response. Glyconutrients are used to create <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/glycoproteins" rel="tag">glycoproteins</a>, which cover the outsides of all cells in your body. These glycoproteins are used by immune system cells (among others) for recognizing pathogens. <br /><br /> Phytonutrients have been found by science to be very helpful in fighting disease. Scientists are not certain whether phytonutrients are actually used by your body, if they have a direct effect on disease, or both. <br /><br /> Colostrum taken as a supplement can help boost the immune system. <br /><br /> Deficiencies in vitamin C can cause poor immunity. <br /><br /> Hopefully this article has given you at least a slightly better understanding of your immune system, and how it works. Make the effort today to support your immune system with proper diet and supplements -- you won't be sorry! <bio>Adam Thompson markets several top-quality nutritional products designed to support immune function, including glyconutrients and phytonutrients. <content:encoded><![CDATA[ The <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/human+body" rel="tag">human body</a>'s immune system is a complex system comprised, in essence, of two parts: the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/innate+immune+system" rel="tag">innate immune system</a> and the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/adaptive+immune+system" rel="tag">adaptive immune system</a>. <br /><br /> The role of the immune system, however, is simple. It creates barriers and maintains those barriers to prevent viruses and bacteria from entering the body. It strives to keep us healthy and free of infection. <br /><br /> However, it is not a perfect system and human's do get sick. When infection strikes (pathogens enter the body), the innate immune system detects these pathogens. If the response is quick enough and efficient enough, often this "first strike team" can eliminate the infection before it turns into an even bigger one. <br /><br /> Since the skin is the body's first layer of defense, literally, it is by nature able to withstand much of the onslaught of germs within our environment. Inflammation (redness and swelling) is one of the first signs that the innate immune system has kicked in to prevent further infection. It's actually a warning sign your body uses to alert you to a problem. <br /><br /> The one function the innate system does not have, however, is a "memory" of the infection. The "let's remember what made us sick" function is the responsibility of the adaptive immune system. When the innate immune system's response is not fully effective, the adaptive immune system comes into play. By identifying the invader, the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/adaptive+system" rel="tag">adaptive system</a> is, as the name implies, ready to make moves to block, isolate and learn from the invading pathogen. In this way, the human body "learns" and "adapts" to protect itself from future infection. <br /><br /> Every winter the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/tv+commercials" rel="tag">TV commercials</a> and ads begin warning us of the upcoming cold and flu season. Hand washing is one of the best defenses you can do for your body. <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/proper+hand+washing" rel="tag">Proper hand washing</a> is done with as much hot water as you can stand, lots of soap, scrubbing not only your hands but also your wrists and even up the arms. Follow this up with enough rinsing time (singing the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/happy+birthday+song" rel="tag">Happy Birthday song</a> in your head is a good measure of "proper length of time."), and you're more than halfway home to protecting yourself during the cold and flu season. <br /><br /> Keeping healthy is an ongoing job. Plenty of sleep, the proper diet to ensure sufficient intake of vitamins and minerals, and exercise are the tasks humans are assigned (outwardly) to stay healthy. The skill and planning involved, however, to keep the body functioning properly remains hidden inside ourselves - the immune system - relentlessly working, untiring in its task. <bio>Steven Johnson is interested in maintaining a vital, active, and healthy lifestyle. <content:encoded><![CDATA[The immune system is made up of a network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to protect the body. Immune systems appear even in the most structurally-simple forms of life, with bacteria using a unique defense mechanism, called the restriction modification system to protect themselves from <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/viral+pathogens" rel="tag">viral pathogens</a>, called bacteriophages. Immune system disorders occur when the immune response is inappropriate, excessive, or lacking. Fortunately for most of us, the immune system is constantly on call to do battle with bugs that could put us out of commission.<br><br>The immune system has a series of dual natures, the most important of which is self/non-self recognition. Each cell in our body has an antigen that tells the immune system that it is part of us and should not be eliminated. It is through antigens that the immune system knows which cells to attack and which to leave alone. Sometimes the process breaks down and the immune system attacks self-cells. This is the case of autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/systemic+lupus+erythematosus" rel="tag">systemic lupus erythematosus</a>, and some forms of arthritis and diabetes.<br><br>The <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/innate+immune+system" rel="tag">innate immune system</a> is the dominant system of host defense in most organisms. The innate immune system comprises the cells and mechanisms that defend the host from infection by other organisms, in a non-specific manner. This means that the cells of the innate system recognize, and respond to, pathogens in a generic way, but unlike the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/adaptive+immune+system" rel="tag">adaptive immune system</a>, it does not confer long-lasting or protective immunity to the host. Innate immune defenses are non-specific, meaning these systems respond to pathogens in a generic way. <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/natural+killer+cells" rel="tag">Natural killer cells</a>, or NK cells, are a component of the innate immune system.<br><br>Both <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/innate+and+adaptive+immunity" rel="tag">innate and adaptive immunity</a> depend on the ability of the immune system to distinguish between self and non-self molecules. Helper T cells regulate both the innate and adaptive immune responses and help determine which types of immune responses the body will make to a particular pathogen. Adaptive immune responses are actually reactions of the immune system to structures on the surface of the invading organism called antigens. The immune system is enhanced by sleep and rest, and is impaired by stress.<br><br>One of the drawbacks of chemotherapy treatment for cancer, for example, is that it not only attacks cancer cells, but other fast-growing, healthy cells, including those found in the bone marrow and other parts of the immune system. In cancer cells, genetic changes cause changes in the cell-surface antigens such that the person's immune system (hopefully) no longer recognizes them as "self" and destroys them. Boosting the immune system has been shown to be therapeutically valuable in treating a wide variety of cancers, chronic viral infections and other illnesses. Some cells of the immune system can recognize cancer cells as abnormal and kill them. But some new treatments aim to use the immune system to fight cancer.<br><br>Another important role of the immune system is to identify and eliminate tumors. To the immune system, these antigens appear foreign, and their presence causes immune cells to attack the transformed tumor cells. The main response of the immune system to tumors is to destroy the abnormal cells using killer T cells, sometimes with the assistance of helper T cells. Clearly, some tumors evade the immune system and go on to become cancers. However, if the immune system is stressed and not functioning properly, a cancer cell may multiply before the immune system has a chance to kill it.<br><br>The immune system is complex, intricate and interesting. Protect the immune system and you will live a long healthy life. To understand the power of the immune system, all that you have to do is look at what happens to anything once it dies. That sounds gross, but it does show you something very important about your immune system. Although the immune system is extremely complex, its basic strategy is simple: to recognize the enemy, mobilize forces, and attack. Your immune system is under assault from herbicides, pesticides and food additives, and also from the immense amount of radiation that is part of our everyday life today. Protect the immune system and you will live a long healthy life.<bio>Jonathan Bell is a natural cancer prevention and treatment specialist with years of experience in alternative health methods. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Art, in general, is the appreciation of beauty. It implies order and harmony of parts in a given whole. <br /><br /> Human life does not imply merely physical survival. It is a vocation towards the refinement of the spirit. Hence, the demands of daily life include and derive meaning from the cultivation of those traits that truly reflect man's <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/innate" rel="tag">innate</a> dignity. In this context, ethics is considered an art. However, there are art forms that are different from those that are considered as ethical <br /><br /> For this reason, certain actions of man must be in proportionate to the ethical standards as dictated by man's innate dignity. One of which is how we should use words in different functions. <br /><br /> Take fore example the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/wordings" rel="tag">wordings</a> in a wedding invitation. Careful use of words and establishing them correctly is very <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/crucial" rel="tag">crucial</a> in <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/wedding+invitations" rel="tag">wedding invitations</a>. This is because wedding invitation are the first-hand symbol of the wonderful celebration that is about to take place. <br /><br /> Any misused, abused, or unethical choice of words may result to misunderstandings or misinterpretations between and among the guests. <br /><br /> Generally, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/wedding+invitation+wording" rel="tag">wedding invitation wording</a> should be clearly established to avoid confusions and misconception. There are instances were words may have several meanings depending on how it is used in a sentence. <br /><br /> Moreover, the wordings must accurately define the details of the wedding like the date, the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/exact+time" rel="tag">exact time</a>, and the place where the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/wedding+ceremony" rel="tag">wedding ceremony</a> will take place. These things should be clearly stated because there are cases wherein most guests directly assume that once they are invited, it means that they are asked to attend to the wedding ceremony and the reception. <br /><br /> However, there are some weddings that the couple would usually invite people just for the reception. In this case, the couple has decided to make the wedding very private and that they only want their immediate relatives present during the ceremony. The guests are asked to attend on the reception already. <br /><br /> Hence, to avoid confusion and delusion, it is best to carefully state in the invitation the purpose of the invitation. <br /><br /> On the other hand, wedding invitation wordings may also vary depending on certain circumstances that the couple has no control of. An example is the concept of who paid for the wedding. <br /><br /> In this instance, it is best to choose words that would pay respect to the party whom the recognition is due but should also be made in conformity with the ethical standards, in which the feelings of the other party should be considered also. <br /><br /> For example, if in case that the bride's parents are the ones who had paid for the wedding, then, the wordings on the wedding invitation should state that it is the bride's parent s who are requesting for the presence of the guests. <br /><br /> Alternatively, the setting of the wedding should also be considered when establishing the wedding invitation wording. <br /><br /> If the wedding is informal and will only take place in a home, then it is best to replace the usual words being used in formal invitations to a more casual tone but still with respect. <br /><br /> Boiled down, any kind of wordings will do when making wedding invitations a long as the words are in conformity to the ethical standards set by the society and as patterned on the innate dignity of man. <br /><br /> Best of all, the details of the wedding should be clearly stated, otherwise, the wedding invitation will definitely lose its main purpose. <bio>Download our excellent discount wedding planning mini-course absolutely FREE at <a href="http://www.discountweddingguide.com/">http://www.discountweddingguide.com/</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ It has been said that people is the key driver to the success of the business because they are the most important asset. This is the reason why the management tries to retain as much key people as possible to ensure the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/continual+success" rel="tag">continual success</a> of the business. However, before your personnel can truly become <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/beneficial" rel="tag">beneficial</a> to the company, they need to be trained. There are many reasons to train your personnel but the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/foremost+reason" rel="tag">foremost reason</a> is that you train them because you want them to contribute a lot to the company. <br /><br /> The first reason why trainings are conducted is to integrate the personnel into the organization. They need to know the purpose of the company and their role in it so that they can effectively perform and deliver the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/necessary+results" rel="tag">necessary results</a>. The personnel needs to be integrated properly into the function of the company fully trained so that he can perform at his best. <br /><br /> Another reason why you should train your personnel at the start of their work and then continually provide them with training is to beat the competition. You should not rely on the innate skills of your employees or even their previous knowledge of the business because you also need to deal with the competition that constantly looks for ways to steal a share of your market. In line with this, you need to equip your people with the skills and knowledge they need to help your organization remain at the top of its game. <br /><br /> Training can also improve the productivity of your employees; in fact, there are many studies that show <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/productivity+increases" rel="tag">productivity increases</a> when people know more efficient ways to conduct their daily activities. The training will also introduce new methods to your employees so they will know about different methods wherein each task can be conducted. <br /><br /> Still another reason to <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/provide+training" rel="tag">provide training</a> to your employees is the change in the business environment. This is because the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/rapid+technological+advancements" rel="tag">rapid technological advancements</a> today require that businesses adapt to these changes by learning new skills and by learning how to operate new programs. The training will keep your employees updated so they will be able to respond to the needs of the market. In addition, training will enhance the innate skills of your employees and this will enable them to reach their potential. And because of this, you can expect to see excellence in the workplace. <br /><br /> You should never look at training as an unnecessary expense because it will pay off dividends to your business once your people become more educated and skilled. As you can see, training of your employees is definitely one of the things you need to look into if you want to ensure the continual success of your business. <bio>Dock J. <content:encoded><![CDATA[What Is Personal Development? <br /><br /> Personal development used to be a course taught at business and vocational schools around the United States. <br /><br /> It was long since held that self-improvement was an essential aspect of succeeding in a more and more competitive marketplace that left little room for those who would not be able to pull their own weight -- usually because of self image problems. <br /><br /> Personal growth was considered to be the antidote to the possibility of failure very often experienced by job changers, vocation changers, and those who might <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/embark" rel="tag">embark</a> on a new career at a more advanced age than most of their competitors in the marketplace. <br /><br /> Personal development was said to be effective in combining an individual's innate wish for success with a change in the person's mode of viewing her - or himself and also the way the person is portraying her - or himself to others. <br /><br /> NLP - neuro-linguistic programming -- is one of the favored tools of the personal development movement. Since it offers a wide variety of tools and techniques, this application itself promises success simply because of its superior adaptability to the needs of the person seeking personal development. <br /><br /> For example, for those will simply performance <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/anxiety+problems" rel="tag">anxiety problems</a>, a large number of exercises will make an accomplished introvert out of a phobic introvert who is sent into stammering or <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/excessive+sweating" rel="tag">excessive sweating</a> bits at the prospect of speaking in front of a crowd. <br /><br /> For the person suffering from <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/extreme+anxiety" rel="tag">extreme anxiety</a> the idea of meditation -- well within the framework of NLP -- will quite often yield amazing results. <br /><br /> While traditionalists might scoff at the idea of personal development simply because it is such a subjective exercise, it is noteworthy that many people sear by it and attribute their business success to lessons learned and exercises attempted during a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/personal+development+seminar" rel="tag">personal development seminar</a>. <br /><br /> Perhaps the most important aspect to remember when discussing personal development is the fact that it seeks to capitalize on a person's good intentions. <br /><br /> These intentions may be the wish to succeed in business the innate need to be useful, or maybe just the wish to further the role of leadership a person has taken within a corporation or business. <br /><br /> The goal is to draw out the good intentions and turn them into marketable objectives which the client will be able to realize and develop further, so as to ensure that her or his confidence will grow enough to pursue the next level of professional development. <br /><br /> For those who are gifted with a go-get-it attitude, this need may be hard to understand, but suffice it to say that in a world where corporate success is hard won, and abilities have to be proven time and again, those who may suffer from a lack of self esteem have often found themselves relegated to the sidelines. <br /><br /> If this is you, it is also important to understand that you do not have to be on the sidelines, but that you have everything it takes to make it up the ladder of success! <br /><br /> Author Charles Williams: For more information on Motivation and Self Improvement visit: <a href="http://www.lsft.org" >http://www.lsft.org</a> <bio>Charles Williams is a writer for <a href="http://www.lsft.org" >http://www.lsft.org</a> which is an excellent place to find Motivation and Self Improvment links, For more information go to:www.lsft.org </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ In the "Shime" chapter of the Shobogenzo, Zen Master <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/dogen+zenji" rel="tag">Dogen Zenji</a> discusses the "<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/four+horses" rel="tag">four horses</a>," which is a metaphor used by the Buddha in the Samyuta-Agama sutra. This metaphor of the four horses speaks about how we are when we practice the game of golf=97 four, one could say, classes of students. <br /><br /> The <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/first+horse" rel="tag">first horse</a>, the superior class, is like a horse that runs fastest by merely feeling the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/whip" rel="tag">whip</a>'s shadow. The second horse, the good class, runs fastest when the whip brushes its hair, the hair of its mane. The third horse, the poor class, runs fastest where the whip has actually touched its flesh. And the fourth, the lowest kind of horse, is the one who runs fastest only when the whip can be felt to the marrow of its bones. <br /><br /> At first glance we all want to be like the first horse in the superior class. These are the fast learners...the ones who seem to be a natural. Dogen Zenji says this may not be so desirable. A study of master golfers has shown that it is not the students with innate <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/natural+abilities" rel="tag">natural abilities</a> who have achieved golf mastery. The golfers who have achieved mastery are mostly the students with average to below average natural abilities...the ones who have practiced their craft diligently. This is very interesting...why is this so? <br /><br /> The road to mastery for all students has many plateaus in skill levels interrupted by brief spikes in improvements. When the first class of student takes up golf they see an immediate spike in improvement in their skill level and are very motivated. When they reach that ultimate first plateau where they do not improve despite hard practice, most <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gifted+students" rel="tag">gifted students</a> get discouraged. <br /><br /> Gifted students are used to seeing fast progress, so they may blame the instructor or something else just so they don't have to put in the hard work that is needed to attain mastery. Many superior students will then give up the game due to frustration. <br /><br /> Superior athletes who never make it big are seen in ALL sports. We all have heard countless stories about gifted athletes who never made it big because they weren't willing to put the time in needed to reach their innate potential. <br /><br /> The fourth class of student will see slow improvements, much time spent on plateaus in their skill level. If the fourth class of golf student stays with it and practices hard they will learn the golf to the marrow of their bones, like the fourth horse. <br /><br /> Before you can master ANY skill, you need to learn the skill to the marrow of your bones. To learn golf to the marrow of your bones you need to stay at each skill level for however long it takes. Most first class students never learn the skill to the marrow of their bones because it comes easy to them. The time spent on plateaus for students who learn fast are shorter than the ones who learn slower. <br /><br /> The paradox of the four horses parable is we must practice like the fourth class of horse to become like the first class of horse. <br /><br /> Hit 'em Long and Straight! <content:encoded><![CDATA[ Literally taken, the art of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/painting" rel="tag">painting</a> is the process of applying color onto a supported surface =96 such as paper, wood, glass, or canvas. When taken in an artistic sense, painting is meant to create an image or an expression through this color application, representing and documenting various intentions and subjects according to the artist's desire. Since there are infinite explanations of what painting can be and what it represents to each individual artist, it is worthwhile taking a look at where painting began =96 thus shedding some light on why the art of painting is such an integral component of human artwork and culture. <br /><br /> The oldest known paintings in the world come from the Grotte <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/chauvet+cave" rel="tag">Chauvet cave</a> in France, believed to be around 32,000 years old. These paintings began as engraved images into the rock face, with the color being painted on afterward =96 <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/red+ochre" rel="tag">red ochre</a> and black pigment were carefully placed, creating <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/images+of+horses" rel="tag">images of horses</a>, buffalo, lions, mammoth, rhinos, and even some images of humans going on a hunt. <br /><br /> Interestingly enough, the cave in France was not the only place where <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/cave+paintings" rel="tag">cave paintings</a> were found =96 independently of each other, humans came up with this notion of creating <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/colored+images" rel="tag">colored images</a> to represent things that were important to them, documenting it so that others could learn and understand. Other examples of cave paintings have been found at such diverse locations as Australia, Spain, Portugal, India, and even China! <br /><br /> Of course, there are plenty of ideas as to why humans decided to paint, with one of the most prevalent theories centering around the idea of creating pictures as a means of `catching' an animal's spirit. In this sense, a hunter or warrior would have painted an image of the animal that they wished to hunt and kill, and by capturing that animal in a picture, they believed they were essentially `capturing' that animal's spirit and condemning them to their fate =96 or at least making them easier to catch! <br /><br /> Other ideas focus on the more simplistic notion that early humans simply wished to pay homage to the nature that surrounded them, either as a display of devotion to their nature gods or just in appreciation of the surrounding beauty. This idea also gives way to the scientific speculation that all humans have an innate desire to express themselves in one form or another =96 and just as modern day society contains people who express themselves through various means, such as painting or architecture or sewing, humans in ancient times probably followed the same basic pattern! <br /><br /> Either way, there is no doubt that there is a human need to create and express one's self, and it certainly appears that this desire =96 this drive to capture images and display them though modes of expression, using various colors and patterns =96 comes from the earliest roots of human history. Thus, painting is an innate part of human nature: it is the appreciation of beauty, however it is expressed in visual form. <bio>Get great Original paintings on unique subject matter at T Maries Galleries: <a href="http://www.fineartcraftsfurniture.com/" >http://www.fineartcraftsfurniture.com/</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[The <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/bloodhound" rel="tag">Bloodhound</a> or St. Hubert Hound is an ancient breed that dates back over 1500 years. The name Bloodhound refers to their pure blood and pure breeding standards. This large scent hound ways between 70-115 pounds and measures 23" to 27" in length. They are known for their excellent tracking ability that can be matched by no other dog. <br /><br /> In fact, it is due to this <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/innate" rel="tag">innate</a>, unmatched tracking ability that they are the only <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/dogs" rel="tag">dogs</a> whose tracking testimony is permitted in the court of law. Tracking trails performed by police <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/bloodhounds" rel="tag">Bloodhounds</a> are permissible in court. A Bloodhound by the name of Nick Carter is credited for finding over 600 criminals. He reportedly once followed a trail that was over 100 hours old to catch a fugitive. Sherlock Holmes was often referred to as the human Bloodhound because of his excellent investigative work. <br /><br /> Bloodhounds are recognized by the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/akc" rel="tag">AKC</a>. Their permissible coat colors include liver and tan, black and tan, or red and tawny. White flecks or a small amount of white on the chest and feet is allowed. Their short, smooth and hard coat is easy to groom and requires only minimal grooming with a hound glove. They only need bathed when necessary. <br /><br /> Although energetic and intense when working, the Bloodhound is gentle and friendly when they are home with their family. They are laid back and easy going when they are not working and are wonderful with children. They do best with other dogs and pets that they are raised with from puppyhood. This is particularly true for non-<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/canine+pets" rel="tag">canine pets</a> as they have an innate tracking/chasing drive. They tend to be head strong and are difficult to train. No matter how well trained they are, if they find an interesting scent to follow, they will follow it until they are satisfied and will only stop when they are ready to stop no matter how many times you call them. For this reason they should be walked on a leash and kept in a fenced in yard. Even though they are not a high <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/energy+dog" rel="tag">energy dog</a> at home, they still require regular exercise and play. They love time to explore outside and are best in homes with a yard. They are not meant for apartment life. <br /><br /> The Bloodhounds ancestry dates back over 1500 years. They are often called St. Hubert Hounds because the St. Hubert monks in Belgium are credited with perfecting the breed to what we know it as today. They were brought to the United States from England. They were traditionally considered hunting and tracking dogs and are still used for these things today as well as police work and family companionship. <br /><br /> Perfect as hunting dog or companion dog for active families, the Bloodhound is an intelligent, curious breed that loves to explore the countryside with their family by day and relax inside with their family by night. Good with children, the Bloodhound works well with family life. If you are a family that enjoys outdoor activities and are looking for a dog to share in all aspects of family life, the Bloodhound might be a good choice for you. <bio>Learn more about the Bloodhound at <a href="<a href="http://www.deardoggy.com/">http://www.deardoggy.com/</a>dog_breeds/bloodhound/"><a href="http://www.deardoggy.com/">http://www.deardoggy.com/</a>dog_breeds/bloodhound/</a> or to talk with other dog lovers visit us at <a href="http://www.deardoggy.com/">http://www.deardoggy.com/</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Running seems to be one of the easiest exercises available, yet many are not doing it perfectly. No wonder why many people suffer injuries and other problems. The point here is that running is not simply placing one foot ahead of the other. It is more than meets the eye. <br /><br /> Hence, if you are a new runner, it is imperative that you know the necessary pointers to consider in order to have a good run. To know these things, new <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/runners" rel="tag">runners</a> must learn how to identify mistakes; otherwise, they will never know how to hone their skills. <br /><br /> The problem with most new runners is that they seem to know everything. They never learn the most common mistakes new runners tend to commit. Therefore, history always repeats itself. <br /><br /> It is true that part of the quandaries of learning how to run in the first place is to know the competition itself. Of course, in order to learn the race, one must learn how to avoid the usual mistakes new runners commit. <br /><br /> So to get you started, here are 5 of the most common mistakes new runners make. Knowing these things will enable you to develop your running noticeably. <br /><br /> 1. Not being realistic with their goal <br /><br /> Running without a goal is useless endeavor. It is as if you are shooting for the stars without being realistic. Of course, if your goal is too far from being realistic, you will end up just the same. <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/moreover" rel="tag">Moreover</a>, most new runners tend to create goals by distance and not by "goal time." In this case, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/people+running" rel="tag">people running</a> by <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/miles" rel="tag">miles</a> will only have a propensity to be frustrated, exhausted, and worn out. That is because they have failed to reach their goals. <br /><br /> Keep in mind that running by miles will make new runners see the distance they still have to take before they reach the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/finish+line" rel="tag">finish line</a>. This is such a depressing state considering the fact that running by miles makes new runners too ruthless on what their body can do. <br /><br /> Hence, it would be better if they will run by goal time, and not by distance. In this way, new runners can realistically <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/foresee" rel="tag">foresee</a> an achievable goal. <br /><br /> 2. Too fast, too furious? <br /><br /> Running is not all about speed. It is not even your goal. It is more about how you will be able to build fitness. Hence, running too fast will only make you wince with pain and when everything seems to be too painful to bear, you will simply give up and never make it to the finish line. <br /><br /> Unless it is a competition, running should never be founded on speed. The idea to enjoy the activity and get the best positive results is to be relaxed with your movement. For new runners, swiftness is the key to an enjoyable running. <br /><br /> 3. No coaches please! <br /><br /> Are you too arrogant to seek for coaching? Most new runners are! Just because running is such a natural state of activity that is innate with humans, new runners will tend to avoid further coaching. New runners believe it is within their capacity and skill to run. <br /><br /> In essence, the ability to have a good run will always depend on the way people employ their selves throughout the time. <br /><br /> It is one of the greatest problems new runners commit. They believe that anybody can start running just because it is innate within them. What they do not know is that people cannot instantly adapt to the demands of running. They cannot simply modify their way of thinking as well as their body when they have decided to start running. <br /><br /> For instance, if you have always lived a sedentary life, starting to run without proper coaching will only bring more harm than good. Your body is not yet on its proper condition and it does not merely involves a few stretching exercises. A good program with a good coach will be necessary to get you started on the right track. <br /><br /> 4. It probably just hurts! <br /><br /> Most new runners fail to see the reality of possible muscle pains within the first two minutes of running. They thought that at any point in time, they can start running and everything will go on smoothly. <br /><br /> Of course, almost 60% of new runners had complained about leg pains and fatigue. This is because their bodies had not been properly conditioned for such activities. It is imperative that they get on the right track first before they even decide to start running. <br /><br /> 5. Pressures! Pressures! <br /><br /> New runners are always pressured to keep everything perfect all of a sudden. When they do this, they tend to put a strain on their ability to run correctly. <br /><br /> Keep in mind that pressures can put a strain on your muscles, thereby, creating stiffening sensations on the area. This will only contribute to possible leg pains. <br /><br /> Therefore, it is best to defy their compulsion to get it perfectly on an instant. <br /><br /> New runners should try to remember that running, as much as it seems to be a natural thing for humans, is not a skill they are born with. It takes time and effort to get everything perfectly well. <br /><br /> If you are just starting to run, better take it slow! Now that you know the common mistakes new runners commit, it is imperative that you keep away from doing these things. Learn to run by heart. You will enjoy it more. <bio>For more great running related articles and resources check out <a href="http://123jogging.info" >http://123jogging.info</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[In <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/alternative+medicine" rel="tag">alternative medicine</a>, the term 'Natural Therapy' refers to an eclectic self-care system that is primarily concerned with building and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/restoring+health" rel="tag">restoring health</a> through <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/prevention+techniques" rel="tag">prevention techniques</a> and healthy lifestyles. In natural therapy, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/dis" rel="tag">dis</a>orders is undertaken by the therapeutic use of natural methods and materials. <br /><br /> The philosophy underlying natural therapy is that all living things have an innate ability to heal. This innate ability flows through us as energy or 'vital force' and it promotes self-cleansing, self-repair and self-healing. If the path of this vital force is blocked, external symptoms appear and a 'dis-ease' is diagnosed. Once the flow of this energy is restored, good health too will be restored. <br /><br /> Natural therapy stipulates that the immune system, nervous system, hormonal system and detoxification pathways all work as a unit. This ensures our survival. If given proper support, care and nurture the body will find its sense of balance automatically, WITHOUT the use of medicine. <br /><br /> Natural therapy places a great deal of emphasis on a hands-free, non invasive approach to curing maladies. There are no magic bullets and quick fixes. Each individual will have his own unique set of symptoms. Depending upon the symptoms, the therapist decides his course of treatment. And each individual takes his own time to recover. <br /><br /> The goal of natural therapy is to develop optimal good health for all patients and to teach patients the principles of good health. Natural therapy is used as a complementary system of healing that adequately speeds up the body's natural ability to heal. Prevention is the ultimate goal, though therapy also includes management of symptoms. <br /><br /> Natural therapy usually includes a wide variety of treatment systems. Some of them are: <br /><br /> Clinical nutrition: Nutrition is the cornerstone of good health. Many diseases and conditions can be improved through changes in diet alone. <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/herbal+medicine" rel="tag">Herbal Medicine</a> or <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/phytotherapy" rel="tag">Phytotherapy</a>: Natural therapy relies very heavily on the use of medicinal herbs. Herbs are characterized by their minimal toxicity and maximum effect. Since herbs do not accumulate in the body, they also do not have any lasting ramifications. When selected properly, herbs offer safe, powerful and effective healing. <br /><br /> Traditional Chinese medicine: Pulse diagnosis, herbs, acupuncture, acutouch are all included in this system of medicine. Dating back to almost 3,000 years ago, this stream of medicine has recently caught a lot of attention in the West. <br /><br /> Body manipulation: Used in conjunction with other therapies, this treatment uses a variety of systematic movements that help heal musculoskeletal and neurological problems. <br /><br /> Lifestyle modification: Natural therapy places full responsibility of one's health on one's own shoulders. Treatments are based on assessing risk factors connected to the lifestyle, diet and environment of each individual. Each of these factors is considered while developing a treatment plan. <br /><br /> Natural therapy can assist in curing a wide variety of clinical conditions. <br /><br /> - Acute conditions like headaches, sore throat, asthma and allergies - Chronic illnesses like migraine, arthritis, heart diseases and gastrointestinal diseases. - Stress related mental and emotional problems. - Physical injury and trauma including post-operative pain. <br /><br /> Different kinds of natural therapies suffered a setback because results are slow in coming. What most people do not realize is that though results may take long, the effects last a lifetime. There is usually a complete recovery from symptoms because the physician tries to boost the body's natural resistance to dis-ease and discomfort. <bio><a href="http://www.methodsofhealing.com" >http://www.methodsofhealing.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[As more and more people take up the hobby of boating, our waterways surge with the enthusiasm of new captains. While it's understandable that people are drawn to boating, it is important for them to understand that taking to the water means doing so responsibly, as the lives of those onboard -- and around them -- are at stake. A <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/boating+course" rel="tag">boating course</a> that teaches the fundamentals of boating is absolutely essential for anyone interested in boating. <br /><br /> The love of water may be innate, but boating is a learned skill. It requires a working knowledge of the water, an understanding of the complexity of the boat, and the ability to use all the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/boating+equipment" rel="tag">boating equipment</a> effectively and responsibly. A reputable boating course will ensure that you are fully prepared for operating a large or small vessel on water. <br /><br /> First and foremost, it is <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/crucial" rel="tag">crucial</a> that you work with a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/reputable+school" rel="tag">reputable school</a> through which you take your boating course. A boating course found in such a location will offer comprehensive classroom instruction and, in some cases, instruction on water. You will initially be taught the fundamentals of boat operation. A boating course will show you how to operate the boat and properly use <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/navigational+devices" rel="tag">navigational devices</a>. Of course a boating course will also lay the groundwork for <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/boating+safety" rel="tag">boating safety</a> -- teaching the essentials of first aid and water rescue, as well as how to handle any onboard crisis that could arise. <br /><br /> You can also find a boating course online where you can learn the fundamentals of boating from the comfort of your own home. If you are someone who needs hands-on instruction, however, this may not be the boating course that's best for you. <br /><br /> Also, keep in mind that a reputable boating course can often save you money in the long run, as insurance companies will offer lower rates to those who have <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/successfully+completed" rel="tag">successfully completed</a> a boating course. <br /><br /> A boating course is the responsible way to begin a boating hobby. It is only with preparedness that boating can be its most enjoyable. <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about boating visit our ezGuide 2 <a href="http://boating.ezguide2.com" >http://boating.ezguide2.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Preschool is basically a place which provides preschool education for very young children, and it is generally considered as being an included part of early childhood education. Things to consider when <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/choosing+a+preschool" rel="tag">choosing a preschool</a> program: Find out whether the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/preschool+center" rel="tag">preschool center</a> allows visits at any time, does the curriculum meet your standards, are the teachers and staff friendly, and most important, trust your intuitions. If you feel that a specific <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/preschool+education+program" rel="tag">preschool education program</a> is not right for your preschoolers, then it may not be. Children are born ready to learn. Fortunately, children apply their innate curiosity and thirst for knowledge the same way to preschool educational and non-educational toys making just about everything an opportunity to learn. <br /><br /> Everybody agrees that learning might be fun. Studies show that <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/preschool+children" rel="tag">preschool children</a> learn better when they are involved in day-to-day activities/ chores along with their parents. You might involve the children' s participation in adding, subtracting, counting, measuring, estimating and so on. As long as you keep all of the crafts and activities relatively easy, and yet still fun and enjoyable, then there is really no way that you can go wrong. <br /><br /> A preschool with a well-stocked library on preschool learning to guide a teacher ensures that he will have ideas, skills and concepts at his fingertips, which he can apply to his classroom. So take a look around the classroom, not only at the books available to the children, but the books the teachers utilize as well. <br /><br /> One preschool education curriculum might vary greatly from another; the most important <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/thing+to+remember" rel="tag">thing to remember</a> is that the children should be having fun and enjoying themselves, and the work should never be too difficult or too boring, because the children are still incredibly young, and although education is still completely important, you do not want to overwhelm them. The focus should be educational fun. <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/preschool+worksheets" rel="tag">Preschool worksheets</a> should never be too complex. When you consider the ages of the children that you are dealing with, too much information can be overwhelming. <bio>For more information about preschool education, please visit us at <a href="http://www.preschoolcampus.com" >http://www.preschoolcampus.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Crochet, like any form of art, is as much about skill as about <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/innate+ability" rel="tag">innate ability</a>. What comes from within -- combined with the guidance and technical know-how of formal education -- results in beautiful products. Those who <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/learn+to+crochet" rel="tag">learn to crochet</a> will <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/attest" rel="tag">attest</a> to the fact that not only do they now have the skills to make one-of-a-kind projects for themselves -- as well as for gifts -- but they have the knowledge that, no matter what, they'll always have this creative outlet that's all their own. <br /><br /> Those who learn to crochet do so for a variety of reasons. Perhaps they have always had an interest in crochet and want to foster it. Or perhaps crochet is something that their mothers or grandmothers participated in and they want to continue the family tradition. Either way, the ability to crochet allows enthusiasts to practice it for their own enjoyment or even make a job out of it, selling their pieces in <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/craft+stores" rel="tag"><a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/craft+store" rel="tag">craft store</a>s</a>, at fairs, in specialty boutiques, or online. <br /><br /> For those wanting to learn to crochet, there are several possibilities to go about it. First, visit your local craft store. You'll often find that they have a schedule of classes for those who want to learn to crochet. Generally, just a few classes will be more than enough to get you on your way. The rest is really about practice. Purchase some yarn, hook, and a beginner's book of basics and you'll be well on your way to furthering your skills. You may even find that if you approach someone who knows <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/how+to+crochet" rel="tag">how to crochet</a> and tell them that you would like to learn to crochet, they'll be happy to pass along some lessons. For those who love the art of crochet, they are often more than happy to assist others in getting started. <br /><br /> Beyond the basics it's up to you to practice, practice, practice. If you start with simple patterns -- such as blankets or scarves -- you will find the easiest path to learn to crochet. The repetition is something that your hands actually learn. Soon you'll find that picking up a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/crochet+hook" rel="tag">crochet hook</a> is much like picking up a pencil -- your hands know what to do. <br /><br /> Learn to crochet and you'll discover a passion that you'll have for a lifetime. And the ability to make treasured items that can be passed on from generation to generation. <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about crochet visit our ezGuide 2 <a href="http://crochet.ezguide2.com" >http://crochet.ezguide2.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[About 200 years ago <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/samuel+hahnemann" rel="tag">Samuel Hahnemann</a>, a German physician, gave up his practice of medicine when he found the medications of his time to be ineffective and dangerous. He later resumed practice after he discovered homeopathy. Homeopathy is a therapeutic method using natural substances in micro dosages to stimulate the body's innate natural resources. Homeopathy views a person's health as a reflection of the entire individual rather than only in terms of the presence of isolated symptoms. Homeopathic remedies could be effective in treating variety of acute and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/chronic+health+problems" rel="tag">chronic health problems</a>.<br><br>Remedies, not herbal supplements.<br><br><a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/homeopathic+medicines" rel="tag">Homeopathic medicines</a> are therapeutically active micro dosages of botanical, biological and mineral substances. In other words they may be prepared from plants, minerals, or animal products. These substances are prepared by a process of repeated dilution and succussion (shaking) which makes them capable of stimulating the healing process.<br><br>Homeopathy provides an individualized treatment tailored to the uniqueness of each person. It takes into consideration a person's environment and their way of life.<br><br>How Does Homeopathy Work?<br><br>Homeopathic remedies are believed to stimulate innate natural defense systems. It is speculated that <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/electromagnetic+signals" rel="tag">electromagnetic signals</a> or energies are transferred in the diluted <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/homeopathic+preparations" rel="tag">homeopathic preparations</a> retaining the "memory" of the original substance used, thereby triggering responses in the body.<br><br>Homeopathy acts according to the "Law of Similars" which states that "likes cure likes". This means that a remedy which in large doses cause certain problems, will in homeopathic dose, stimulate healing of similar problems. For example, if you suffer from a skin eruptions that is similar to that caused by <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/poison+ivy" rel="tag">poison ivy</a>, a homeopathic dose of poison ivy, can stimulate the body to get rid of that poison ivy-like eruption.<br><br>The absence of scientific explanation for the effectiveness of homeopathic remedies lead some to argue that homeopathy is nothing more than a "<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/placebo+effect" rel="tag">placebo effect</a>". Studies, however, have repeatedly shown that homeopathic remedies are more effective than placebo, in addition they are effective in animals who are unaware of the intended effects and therefore cannot exhibit a placebo effect.<br><br>Are Homeopathic Remedies Safe?<br><br>Because of the extreme dilution, homeopathic remedies are safe and free of toxic effects. The FDA regulates the homeopathic industry, but homeopathic remedies contrary to regular medicines, may be marketed without following FDA's clearance procedures, FDA justifies its regulatory distinction upon the relative positive safety profile of homeopathic remedies.<br><br>What is the Difference Between Homeopathy and Herbs?<br><br>Herbs, like traditional western medicines, are complex substances that need to be broken inside our bodies into micro-nutrients before they could be used by our cells. This conversion requires energy, however, for many sick and depleted persons such energy expenditure at the cell level is usually only partially possible. Homeopathic remedies, on the other hand, are simple medicines readily utilized by our cells, even in the very sick ones. In recent years homeopathic remedies have become increasingly popular, possibly as a result of a renewed interest in the use of natural medicines.<br><br>Because homeopathic medications are given in such highly diluted concentrations it is extremely unlikely that they cause side effects or toxic reactions. While the homeopathic industry is regulated by the FDA, herbs are not. This guarantees the quality of the homeopathic products.<br><br>Can I Mix Homeopathy and Traditional Drugs?<br><br>There are no known drug interaction risks. Thus an individual taking conventional drugs for hypertension can also take homeopathic remedies for any reason.<br><br>Homeopathy and Detoxification<br><br>Homeopathic remedies are vital to achieve body and organ detoxification; the process helps our bodies to get rid of accumulated toxins over the years. Sources of toxins include diet, traditional medications and environmental toxins.<br><br>Are Homeopathic Remedies Covered by Insurance?<br><br>Not yet, however these remedies usually cost less than your drugs co-payment.<br><br>Are Homeopathic Remedies Safe for Children?<br><br>Yes, because they are made from all natural substances, and because of the extreme dilution there is no need to worry about chemical ingredients or side effects.<bio>Nader Soliman M.D. is Board Certified in Medical Acupuncture with a degree from UCLA.  You can find out more about Dr. Soliman and the alternative medical therapies he provides by visiting his site at <a href="http://alternativemedicinecenter.org"> http://alternativemedicinecenter.org</a>.  Visit one of our centers for complete evaluation using homeopathic approaches.</bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[So math wasn't my best subject. Alright, it was my worst subject. I'm more of a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/language+person" rel="tag">language person</a>, really. Considering my father taught statistics at the local university, and that everyone in my tiny town knew him, it was rather embarrassing. "Hey, aren't you supposed to be good at this," my friends would ask when they got stuck on a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/math+homework" rel="tag">math homework</a> problem. "Don't come crawling to me when you need a paper edited," I'd snap back.<br><br>I learned quickly that we might all have different talents, but that it was hard to focus on the ones I was good at with a big fat "F" on my report card. On many days, I simply gave up. "Why wasn't I good at this," I wondered. "I must not be as smart as everyone thinks."<br><br>I was beyond needing simple math help. I needed <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/algebra+help" rel="tag">algebra help</a>. I needed geometry help. I even needed calculus help by the time I hit the hard college preparatory courses. Dad was a great <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/math+tutor" rel="tag">math tutor</a>, of course, but sometimes I wondered if what I really needed was guidance from a neutral party. I couldn't yell at hired tutors because they would, undoubtedly, walk out on me, and, sure, I could shriek, scream and be otherwise completely irrational in front of an online tutoring system, but computers simply didn't care.<br><br>Those algebraic equations still stared back blankly from the screen, demanding to be answered. I could vent my frustrations onto Dad like the temperamental, adolescent, hormone-breathing dragon I was because I knew he would forgive me. But, in the end, getting carried away with such vexations didn't do any good; I still had to get my homework done, and I still needed to get it right. Exasperation that exponentialized faster than answers to word-problems-gone-wrong just took time I didn't have - not with everything else a busy, if reluctant, high school student needed to do.<br><br>According to a 1994 report by James D. Wiggins, published in <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/school+counselor" rel="tag">School Counselor</a>, the "School Form of the Self-Esteem Inventory scores were more predicative of grades than were <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/composite+score" rel="tag">composite score</a>[s] on [a] standardized test." In other words, self-esteem was a better indicator of grades than the types of standardized tests believed to indicate academic success. Wiggins only studied fifth- and sixth-graders in one school, but it was an intriguing report nonetheless. It indicated what many of us know intuitively, or as most loving parents could tell all the academic experts that have spent years figuring it out: It's amazing what self-image can do to grades - or visa versa.<br><br>While this may be true on its most basic level, successfully building children's (or any of our) self-esteems is not so simple. It turns out my reaction to, "Aren't you supposed to be good at this?" and my subsequent failure to prove "how smart" I really was perfectly (eerily) demonstrated the results of recent studies on children's academic performance in relationship to the kind of praise they receive.<br><br>According to Carol Dweck's research at Columbia University (who is now at Stanford), the type of praise given to a child dramatically affects his or her self-image and achievement levels.<br><br>Dweck's team studied the effects of a series of experiments on 400 New York City fifth-graders in which the children were either praised based on their intelligence or on their effort after completing nonverbal puzzles. In the end, it was the kids who believed they worked hard, versus those who simply thought their scores were the result of innate intelligence, that scored significantly higher on later tests. They also expended considerably more effort on the puzzles Dweck's team administered. In fact, many in the "You must have worked really hard" group said they actually enjoyed the most difficult tests - tests they were never expected to do well in - while many in the "You must be smart at this" group simply gave up.<br><br>"Emphasizing effort gives [children] a variable they can control. They come to see themselves as in control of their success. Emphasizing natural intelligence takes it out of the child's control, and it provides no good recipe for responding to failure," Dweck explained. This proved true for every socioeconomic class, both genders (though the most intelligent girls were the most dramatically effected), and very young children.<br><br>These results were repeated by Dweck's protage, Lisa Blackwell, and published this February in the academic journal, Child Development. Blackwell divided the 700 children in the East Harlem magnet school, Life Sciences Secondary School, into two groups. Each group participated in an eight-session workshop; the control group was taught proven study skills, while the variable group was instructed not only in those same study skills, but also participated in modules demonstrating intelligence was not purely innate.<br><br>This latter group of students, taught that new neurons were developed in the brain by challenging it, improved their grades and study habits. In fact, many of the educators at the school claimed they could spot this group without being informed who they were, so dramatic was the difference from the "control" students. A single semester exposed to Blackwell and Dweck's techniques reversed what had been a long-standing trend among these children.<br><br>Blackwell and Dweck's key tenets are that praise, self-esteem, and performance rise and fall together - but that the type of praise one receives is of great significance. Those with innate intelligence may have stronger abilities, but those abilities mean nothing unless one is willing to work hard enough to push through challenges.<br><br>Children made to believe it is their effort that produces good results tend to score higher, according to Dweck, because they believe they have the power to control results through their own actions. Kids who simply believe it's their intelligence that gets them through become confused and frustrated when not everything comes so easily. They may feel powerless to improve the situation and do what most any of us would in that situation: they give up.<br><br>Devoid of good study habits, none of this means much, of course. I had to learn how to study, not just the material itself. Without realizing it, I guess I proved Dweck - and for that matter, every old farmer I grew up with -- right a decade before she began experimenting.<br><br>All the good sense in the world doesn't make up for hard-earned, honest sweat.<bio><a href="http://www.mathmadeeasy.com">Math Made Easy</a> provides Math help for Algebra help, Geometry help, math homework help using math online tutorial services and math tutorial cd so you can watch your math scores soar.</bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ A <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/new+time" rel="tag">new time</a> is upon us as the many challenges of today's world escalate and cry out for healing. What is needed now is <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/concerted+action" rel="tag">concerted action</a> on the part of each individual, to join together with others to create positive change in the world. This is not always as easy as it sounds, for the problems we face individually and collectively are multi-layered, and the process of attempting to create positive change activates many forces that oppose change. <br /><br /> Another challenge faced by anyone who wished to help create positive change in the world, is that of developing <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/discernment" rel="tag">discernment</a> and the ability to see underneath the surface of things to understand what is really going on. This ability to discern truth will become even more important in the years ahead. We are already seeing an upsurge of these kinds of issues in the current United States election process. <br /><br /> In this crucial election, voters are becoming more conscious of when a candidate appears false, or has hidden agendas, and they also are developing the awareness of when a candidate is being truthful and acting with integrity. Voters are also digging deeper than the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/traditional+media+sources" rel="tag">traditional media sources</a> of information to address larger issues related to the true reliability of the voting machines, and many citizens are stepping forward to help bring to light what has been previously hidden. <br /><br /> In today's world, there is much at stake and all of us have a part to play in helping to create the kind of world that we wish to leave to our children and grandchildren. How then do we navigate the enormous complexities of today's world, and make the kinds of decisions and choices that will have a positive outcome? <br /><br /> There following are some ways that you can begin to hone your innate <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/sense+of+truth" rel="tag">sense of truth</a>, and to develop discernment in relation to the information you receive. <br /><br /> 1. Truth has a vibration, a quality of energy that can be felt. We are born with the ability to sense this, and many of us had to "learn" to ignore our truth sense in order to survive in the world. Truth can be felt in the body, the mind and the heart. You can begin to develop discernment by having the intention to do so. Your intention will activate a learning process that will create a healing process that restores your natural inner sense of truth. <br /><br /> 2. Remember that all information has a bias. In today's world, the mainstream media sources of information all have vested financial interests and biases that they transmit through their broadcasts. You need to develop the ability to question what you are hearing or seeing, to do your own research, and then asking your "inner truth meter" whether the information feels credible to you. <br /><br /> 3. When you need to make important decisions about people, you need to have your own experience of that individual. It is not enough to listen to experts commenting on that person, you need to see and hear them yourself, or read what they have written in their own words. Pay attention not just to the words, but to what is said underneath the words, through the body language and energy of the person. <br /><br /> 4. Learn to pay attention to your body's subtle physical and emotional signals, which often have information that your conscious mind may have learned to ignore. This is useful in all situations, and especially in relation to listening to other people speak. Your innate inner truth sense is always operating, even when you may have learned to not listen to it. For example, you notice that whenever you hear a particular person speak, you find yourself feeling tense and getting a little spaced out, and you "tune out" their words. Another person that you see appears seems likeable enough, but your "gut feelings" put up a red flag, and just don't trust them. Another person speaks and you find yourself feeling empowered and uplifted, and want to hear more of what they say. These body signals can provide important information to you that is beyond what your conscious mind is aware of. <br /><br /> 5. Become aware of your own emotional baggage that you carry, that may influence your choices. For example, if you grew up with an abusive father and developed a problem with authority figures, become aware of the emotional dynamics that are operating in your life as a result of this. How does your past affect the choices you make in your life today? How do these influence your perceptions of people? Do these choices empower you today? You have the ability to see clearly, beyond your personal emotional pain of the past. <br /><br /> As each of us creates the intention to see clearly and to make choices based on our own inner sense of truth, we can expand the network of love, light and truth in the world and help to create a more positive future for all of humanity. <bio>Mashubi Rochell is a spiritual counselor and the founder of the <a href="http://WorldBlessings.net" >http://WorldBlessings.net</a> online spiritual support community which is co-sponsoring One World Meditations, a weekly global meditation to help heal and transform the Earth at <a href="http://www.oneworldmeditations.org" >http://www.oneworldmeditations.org</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Do you know people like <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/frasier" rel="tag">Frasier</a>? <br /><br /> People who are "Too Intellectual" to buy into this God stuff? <br /><br /> See, the bottom line is, you can't prove that <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/god+exists" rel="tag">God exists</a> in a scientific laboratory. <br /><br /> Nor can you prove that there is a still small silent voice inside you that keeps shouting that there has to be more to life than just life, which begins and...ends. <br /><br /> You can't prove each of us has a conscience. An innate sense of right and wrong. <br /><br /> You can't prove there is such a thing as love. <br /><br /> But to think that all this...the universe..our world..our bodies...happened by chance? Give me a break. You don't need to be a genius like Frasier to see God;s hand in all this. <br /><br /> If gravity was one <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/iota" rel="tag">iota</a> less than it is everything here would implode. If it was one iota more, it would explode. If earth was 50 <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/miles" rel="tag">miles</a> closer to the sun, everything would burn up. Fifty miles further away we'd all freeze to death. <br /><br /> I believe the truth of God is in all of us. And I think this was best explained by the guy who invented the first computer. <br /><br /> Believe it or not, he lived in the late 1600's. His name was <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/pascal" rel="tag">Pascal</a> and he was one of the most brilliant scientists of the seventeenth century. A mathematician and a physicist, he invented the calculating machine - the prototype of the computer. He was a very wealthy Frenchman and he came up with the theory they call the "God Hole" theory. <br /><br /> Pascal devoted years to the study of human nature. And what he discovered was there is something in each and every human being - a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/hole+in+the+heart" rel="tag">hole in the heart</a>, if you will - that drives humans to search for meaning. <br /><br /> Pascal said if we deny God, humans live in a spiritual vacuum. To try and fill it, they do one of two things. The first is they make gods out of themselves. They become...Frasiers. <br /><br /> It's intellectual pride. We just refuse to admit that there is a greater force than ourselves. <br /><br /> And that's the tragedy of a Frasier. <bio>Mike Wendland - Online Christian Shopper <a href="http://www.onlinechristianshopper.com" >http://www.onlinechristianshopper.com</a> Mike is a pastor from a large Bibe-believing church in the Midwest who founded the Online Christian Shopper Web ste to make it easy for Christians to practice lifestyle evangelism. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Are you one of the many sufferers who have a common ailment for which our medical community has found no cure? If you are experiencing arthritis, cancer, carpal tunnel, chronic fatigue, chronic cystitis, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure or any number of others, I have some good news for you.<br><br>For many years I too suffered under the delusion that such common diseases were to be expected in old age and that I would simply have to live with them. Unfortunately, my <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/healing+journey" rel="tag">healing journey</a> started at 8 years old when I developed rheumatic fever which left me with a rheumatic heart and a leaky valve. What could any kind/caring physician say to an 8 year old to make her feel better? My internist was definitely the exception to the rule. He had an enormous smile and gave me hope when he told me that when I became a teenager, the hole in my heart would close and I would be normal. Even if it wasn't true, that statement started me on what has become a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/life+long+journey" rel="tag">life long journey</a> into learning and teaching the many aspects of healing.<br><br>Over the course of the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/next+fifty+years" rel="tag">next fifty years</a>, I not only faced but totally healed the following diseases:<br><br>• <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/rheumatic+heart+disease" rel="tag">Rheumatic heart disease</a><br>• Manic depression<br>• <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/chronic+fatigue+syndrome" rel="tag">Chronic fatigue syndrome</a><br>• Arthritis<br>• Type II dysplasia (beginning of cervical cancer)<br>• Interstitial cystitis<br><br>I did it by inadvertently using the law of attraction which brought into my life great teachers, coaches, physicians, metaphysicians and spiritual guides each of whom gave me one more small piece to the healing puzzle.<br><br>As I navigated the muck and mire of pain, despair, lack of movement and severe weight gain there was always someone at every turn to guide me. I tried everything including hypnosis and eventually became a Registered Hypnotherapist. However, it wasn't until I moved from <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/clinical+hypnotherapy" rel="tag">clinical hypnotherapy</a> to <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/creative+visualization" rel="tag">creative visualization</a> that I truly stumbled upon three very important discoveries.<br><br>Our physical body and our essence came with self healing ability because:<br><br>a) We are all connected to our Creator and each other.<br><br>b) We all have the ability to communicate with our Higher Power through what I call the "Intuitive Voice."<br><br>c) We all have the innate power to switch the frequencies of our body from "dis-ease" to "at ease" (negative to positive).<br><br>This ability to communicate phenomenon has been called by many names: the voice of the Holy Spirit, the voice of God, our innate intuition. It matters not what we call it. It is simply the connection between our conscious mind and our Creator who has the answers to EVRYTHING, including our healing dilemma.<br><br>By learning to silence my mind and connect with my intuitive voice, I was able to discover:<br><br>13 Truths to Self-Healing any Incurable Illness<br><br>1) Our bodies are only made up of two things: energy and consciousness.<br><br>2) Energy is movement and consciousness is the intelligence behind it.<br><br>3) If we can control the consciousness, we control the movement of the body.<br><br>4) Sickness is not a punishment nor does it come from virus, bacteria or fungus, it is a gift from our Creator that let's us know we are not living in the frequency of love.<br><br>5) If we make friends with our disease, it loses its power and has no control over us anymore.<br><br>6) Behind every sickness, there is an emotional root which activates the virus, bacteria, fungus, enzyme or inflammation.<br><br>7) Pull the emotional root and you have better than an 80% chance of curing anything.<br><br>8) To heal completely, one must detoxify not only our physical body but our mental, emotional and spiritual bodies as well.<br><br>9) In order to get to the emotional root, one must be able to converse with the emotional body through the intuitive voice which can be done in an hour or spend years on a psychiatrist's couch doing the same.<br><br>10) Once you have received the information needed to pull the emotional root, you must act on it and most likely go through the forgiveness process.<br><br>11) Strengthening the body with natural supplements and a clean alkaline diet free of dyes, pesticides, sugar, white flour and caffeine will create a healing environment for the body to turn around.<br><br>12) Daily prayer and meditation will keep the sickness at bay and allow you the time necessary heal.<br><br>13) There are few overnight cures. The process takes about 8-12 weeks to complete.<br><br>Please remember, there is No Such Thing as Incurable as long as you believe it is possible. Dr. Wayne Dyer says, "If you think you can or you think you can't, your right." I would recommend the book we read in grade school, the Little Train that Could, who said, "I think I can, I think I can." The power of thought is the first level of creation. As children of Creator, what WE think becomes, "AND SO IT IS."<br><br>Good luck in your healing journey.<bio>Annemarie St. Michael, the healing earth angel <a href="http://www.selfhealingmadeeasy.com" title="http://www.selfhealingmadeeasy.com" target="_blank">http://www.selfhealingmadeeasy.com</a></bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[People of all ages can be fascinated by music. However, it is not easy to <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/learn+music" rel="tag">learn music</a> as it is to hear it. <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/learning+music" rel="tag">Learning music</a> requires a strong desire on part of the person to gain complete knowledge of all nuances of music. Whatever reason he might want to learn music for, he must have the perseverance and grit to come out successful after facing all the challenges that he counters while learning music. Same is the case with a child. <br /><br /> A child may get attracted towards a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/music+instrument" rel="tag">music instrument</a> or become happy while listening to it. However, that does not mean he is enthusiastic about learning it. So it is important for the parents to find out about their child's musical instruments and decide if he is brash enough to learn playing an instrument perfectly. They should firstly find out whether the child is interested to learn music or whether they are forcing it on him. <br /><br /> Secondly, the parents should find out if the child has any innate <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/musical+talents" rel="tag">musical talents</a> within him. Some children possess hereditary musical talents. In such cases, it is just enough to fine tune the talents. These children will be able to learn all the fine distinctions of music very quickly. There is also another type of children who do not have any inherent <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/music+talents" rel="tag">music talents</a> within them. These children find it difficult to increase their aptitude in music even after going through a highly rigorous training. However, there is no reason to believe that these children are not capable of learning music properly. If they had a solid aspiration to learn music, they can achieve it at any cost. <br /><br /> It is important that you choose quality over cost when buying a musical instrument of your child. Quality items are usually known to last longer. So, good <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/quality+musical+instruments" rel="tag">quality musical instruments</a> are able to withstand wear and rear more effectively even when they are used by children in a rough manner. They also sound better than the other cheap instruments. <br /><br /> It is also important that you let the child learn his instrument at his own pace. You should not goad him too much as he might lose interest in music completely with this step. Even singing can be encouraged if your child loves to do so. In that case you can get a good music teacher for him to teach him sing and play his instrument. <bio>Linda Polansky writes about <a href="http://www.guitarsampsetc.com" >http://www.guitarsampsetc.com</a>, Musicains Hut Promotions and Guitar Center Products. </bio>]]></content:encoded>
