When it comes to leather, there is a wide variety in cuts and grains. The quality of your favorite garments and footwear will be significantly influenced by the type of grain you get too. The variety insures that you will be getting a quality product at a price you can afford. With so many types, it is important to keep in mind some of the most common of terminologies utilized in this industry. Whether you are purchase jackets, coats, boots, shoes, shirts, or pants, you will find that the grain you purchase will say a lot about you and your tastes.

Full grain leather is one of the highest grades purchasable today. Life can be good for cattle, and life for cattle comes with its own hazards. Sometimes, the cattle will get natural marking on them evidence in wrinkles, bites, scratches, and other types of marks. Full grain leathers are made from the natural hide with the natural markings all present. Full grain means you get all the natural beauty of the hide which is a wonderful thing in most cases. This is an appealing style these days where no two pieces will look identical. Very beautiful. Very pricey.

Embosses, plated, corrected, of buffed leathers are what you use when the full grain version would be too imperfect. These types are sanded or buffed to remove the natural imperfections. This also tends to remove much of the grains natural beauty, and thus is not as expensive. This is more treated than the full grains, and you will find many of the less expensive pieces you find are made of this type of material.

Sometimes, you will hear the term top grain. What is meant by top grain, and how does it relate to split grain?

Well, as you can imagine, the hide of the cattle or animal in question is going to have a variety of thicknesses when it comes to their hide. This means that the industry had to come up with a way to make the majority of leathers conform to a specific set of thicknesses. There is a machine that is fed thick hides, and the other side spits out a uniform set of hides with even thicknesses. The top portion is referred to as top grain. These will be a bit nicer and have a more natural look and feel to them than the split grains.

The split grains are the "other" slices of hides left over after the top grain has been removed. These are going to lack a lot of that tissue strength you would get with the top grain, and be obviously less expensive. You will appreciate these for some purposes, but for more stability top grain is suggested.

When it comes to leather grains, there are a copious number of options. You can choose apparel such as shirts or pants, outerwear such as vests or jackets, footwear such as boots or shoes, or other types of garments or accessories to be made of this exceptionally versatile material. Knowing the differences in grains and splits will definitely insure you get more for your hard earned money and your time.<bio>Click for more Work Apparel.
Having new furniture in the home can often be a sign of great happiness and luxury. Many people strive to have brand new furniture in their homes, and want to make sure that they are receiving the best possible furniture for their purchase. For those that are interested in buying leather furniture, there are three things when looking at whether or not the leather furniture will make for a good investment. These three items include the texture of the furniture, the grade of the furniture, as well as the finish that the leather has.

One of the first things that many people will look at when considering making a purchase of leather furniture is to see what the grade of the furniture is like. This means that the quality of the leather that is used should be up to a certain standard to be considered a certain grade of leather, which ranges from moderate to high end. Top grain leather is taken from the outer layers of an animal's hide, thus making the leather much more durable and taunt when made into furniture. This is also important as it will be much harder to diminish the leather with a high grade than those that are lower grade. It should be noted that all high end leather is made from the top grain, which is why it is more expensive. Split grain leather is another form of leather that can be used for furniture, which is from the underside of the hide, thus making it much weaker and prone to more cracks in the leather. Most of the leather that is on a more affordable scale is made from the weaker hides and is dyed in many pigments to give it the impression that is it high end leather.

Many people will also look at the finish of the leather furniture, which often dictates the price of the leather. For leather furniture that looks as though it has not been distressed in the least bit, the price of the furniture will be much higher. Sometimes, leather manufacturers will place wrinkles in the leather to make it look as though it is unique and original, although it has weathered heavy processing.

The texture of leather is also important, the texture of the higher end leather is much more pliable that those that are made of cheaper materials. Furniture that is made of leather such as split grain is also known to be much stiffer, which often fools many consumers, as they believe that this is the higher grain leather. Determining how leather quality will react to the wear and tear of the day to day use by a family is often the best means of choosing the proper leather furniture that is right for everyone. With the right assistance of knowing the differences between grain, finish, and texture, many people will choose the leather furniture of their dreams that is sure to last a lifetime. Remember, that buying real leather furniture is a large investment. With the proper maintenance care for the furniture, many people are pleased to know that they will have furniture that is sure to look beautiful as long as it is maintained. <bio>Toronto leather furniture (http://thechesterfieldshop.com) offers leather sofas (http://thechesterfieldshop.com/en/products/sofas-loveseats.html) and leather sofabeds in toronto (http://thechesterfieldshop.com/en/products/sofabeds.html) </bio>

As I have discussed before, being able to tell when your partner is lying to you is much more difficult than you may think. Specifically, we have touched on the biases we have when trying to uncover the truth -- now, we're going to look at the type of questions we ask when looking for the truth, and how they are ineffective.

To be to the point, when trying to find out the truth, people generally ask probing questions. That would entail, "What?" "How did that happen?" "When did you do that?" "Are you positive?" And so on. Although probing questions are intended to get at the truth, forming your questions that way actually has the reverse effect and makes it harder for you to tell if you're being deceived or not. Every study brings the same results: asking probing questions hinders your judgment.

So why, and how does this happen? (If you've been paying attention, you'll know that those are probing questions) There are two rationalizations.

Primarily, asking probing questions helps the potential liar -- it gives them the heads up that "Hey! I don't think you're telling the truth!" From there, they can change their behavior to seem more sincere, or honest.

In addition, it hurts those who are trying to discover the truth because it impacts your ability to make a decision. When you ask your partner "What happened?" And they respond with "I told you I went to Larry's house. I wouldn't lie to you" The person probing takes that and says to themselves, 'well, he must be telling the truth because he wouldn't lie to me, and if he were lying I'd be able to tell.' It's a combination of people putting too much faith in their ability to detect deception, and putting to much faith in their partner.

People assume that they are able to tell when their mate is lying to them because after they ask the question designed at getting to the truth, they don't see any indication that their partner is lying, and assume that they are not. That occurrence is called, the "probing heuristic." Overall, every study shows that asking those types of questions of a partner is unsuccessful at getting at the truth.

Wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to try and "get at the truth"? One can dream. <bio>Did you know statistics say that 85% of women who feel their lover is cheating are correct and 50% of men who feel their lover is cheating are right?
Home Ethanol Production: tips about what is involved in home production.

The words home ethanol production are creating a buzz all of the USA, because of fears of fuel shortages and price increases, plus global warming and pollution, people are getting more interested in home ethanol production. One thing to take into consideration with the production of ethanol, is safety, so it would be a good idea to get as much information as you can before starting. If your intention is to run your car on it you will probably need to check ethanol conversion kits.

Relating to Home Ethanol Production:

Home ethanol production is considered essentialy a major deal in the renewable energy debate, and in regards to the issue of homespun ethanol production, there are some facts that should really be known relative to an acre of US corn yielding approximately 7,100 pounds of grain for processing into 328 gallons of ethanol; the energy economics get worse at the processing plants, where the grain is crushed and fermented, as many as three distillation steps are needed in order to separate the 8% ethanol from the 92% water.

When adding up the energy costs of grain production and its following conversion to ethanol, it has been found that 131,000 BTUs are needed in order to be able to make just 1 gallon of ethanol; one gallon of ethanol only has an energy value of 77,000 BTU, which is considered as being clearly not good.

Possible negatives with ethanol production:

Figures show that US grain production today erodes the top soil about 12 times faster than it can be reformed or replaced, with irrigated grain using groundwater 25% quicker than it can be naturally be replaced by rain etc. If you add to these figures that corn ethanol costs approximately $1.74 a gallon to produced, in comparison to the 94 cents per gallon that gasoline costs, its clear that more investigation is required before committing more and more resources to ethanol production.

There are so many questions with concerning home ethanol production and the production of ethanol in the private sector with regards to the environment and also to the quality of life in general, as to whether or not ethanol is the proper choice as a renewable energy source; there are actually so many positive factors that stem from it, and yet many negative ones as well, and so this is a matter which is almost certainly going to take some serious time and consideration to accurately figure out.

However, there are some top-notch brilliant people in the world who are looking closely into the ethanol situation at this moment, this will also include home ethanol production, and so we can rest assured in knowing that the problem will be taken care of properly. <bio>http://ecoholistic.com : For information, articles and tips about ecological and holistic topics.
The thought of eating a high fiber cereal makes some people cringe. It's probably because for a long time those cereals did not taste much better than chipped cardboard. There have been many studies that all point to the very important benefits to your health from eating whole grains.

With these studies at the forefront of the health food industry, other cereal producers have gone to great lengths to join in the production of whole grain, high fiber cereals. This has made the selection of high fiber cereals almost confusing in their quantity but does insure that the consumer can find a cereal which is both tasty and healthy. The really high percentage fiber products are still somewhat lacking in the taste department, but those with good taste and sufficient fiber are plentiful.

The cereals with the most fiber are typically the all bran type cereals. Cereals such as Fiber One, All Bran, and 100% Bran are some of the highest in fiber. Cereals like Grape Nuts, Raisin Bran, and Kashi are not as high in fiber but certainly make up for the decreased fiber with taste. A person who wants to eat high fiber cereals needs to learn to read the nutrition labels on the cereal boxes to find cereals that they enjoy eating but are also high fiber.

It's always a good idea to compare a product with one of the heavy fiber products. That way you know how much real fiber it contains. Not all high fiber products are alike, even though the pictures on the box might give the impression of high fiber content. By comparing product labels you can get the real truth about the product.

You can even make your own fiber cereal if you can't find one that you like on the shelves. You simply mix different cereals. Using a plastic cereal container, cereals such as frosted flakes and fruit loops can be mixed with one of the whole grain high fiber cereals. Fruit and nuts can add a lot of flavor to a high fiber cereal.

It's important to not only eat for health, but also eat for enjoyment. Some dried fruits, such as apricots, raisins, and prunes, can be very high in fiber. Nuts also will increase the fiber in the cereal mix. Breakfast can be very tasteful and very healthy with a small bit of creativity. <bio>At http://www.bestdietfitness.com you can get fitness and healthy eating advice. </bio>

Everyone wants to have a skin that is as smooth as silk. Wouldn't it feel nice that once you touch your skin, it will always be smooth and soft? All women would want to achieve a skin that can be admired by many especially by men. A perfectly glowing skin will also show of how much you really take care of your body. Now that silk is also mentioned in the first part of the article, did you all know that silk is now also used in cosmetics? Yes, it is the very same silk that comes from the silkworm that spins and wraps itself to be able to form a cocoon and in order to protect the silkworm in its hibernating period. This silk cocoon is the one responsible for creating the silk threads and fibers.

Today, there are researches that justify that silk powder can also be used for cosmetics. Silk powder for cosmetics has moisture retention capabilities and at the same time have UV ray blocking properties. These qualities are present because the silk is originally used to protect the worm inside it. As we all know countries in Asia like Japan and China are considered as the traditional sources of silk. And these countries are also the first ones to introduce silk powder in their cosmetics. Because of this, many other countries have tried to imitate this new discovery. The researches and studies done by other countries and huge cosmetics manufacturers show that silk powder is indeed an excellent ingredient in the development of high quality cosmetics.

Silk powder for cosmetics has actually done a tremendous job in improving the quality of cosmetics today. Other countries apart from Japan and China have shown great interest in silk powder because of its excellent qualities. Because of this, many consider silk powder as one the highly treasured powders in beauty treatments. The qualities of the silk powder are really effective on the skin as it holds the moisture of the skin as per the temperature's requirements and the environment's humidity to where the person is in.

But during the development of silk powder for cosmetics, many manufacturers need to face one issue: the grain size of the powder. Manufacturers need to make sure that the proper can size is developed to be able to properly cater to the needs of people using it. They think that silk powder with crude grain size cannot be properly applied. Meanwhile, if the powder has really fine grain size, one could not even notice the benefits of silk powder when applied on the skin. For this, the grain size must be ideal; not too crude and not too fine. Aside from the grain size, manufacturers also need to take into consideration the smoothness of the silk powder. Its smoothness must be effectively monitored as the skin can easily absorb the powder.

For the perfect quality of the silk powder for cosmetics, manufacturers now use the micro crystalline silk powder. Using this kind of powder will guarantee you of a balance of the use of the powder and the other raw ingredients in using any cosmetic.<bio>PART 2 - For part two of this article, head on to Silk Powder For Cosmetics and to find many other great beauty tips visit natural skin care remedies.</bio>

Staining will help bring out your hardwood flooring's character and uniqueness. Before applying your stain you need to make sure your floor is completely free of dust, grit and other particles. Dust likes to hide deep in the wood grain, be sure to really get in there to get those dust monsters out. More tips for thorough cleaning can be found at http://www.layingwoodflooring.com..

Make sure the area you are working in is well ventilated. Inhaling fumes from the wood stain can cause you to pass out if you breathe them in for too long. Most stains are solvent based which makes them flammable. Do not smoke while you are applying the stain. If you are working near a pilot light take the precaution and extinguish it, it's better not to take the chance.

Wood floor stains are either oil based or water based. Oil based are most common and preferred because they are easy to use. Water based is a newer type which accounts for the difference in popularity. Always test your stain in a corner or, better yet, on a scrap piece of wood before applying it to the whole floor.

Make sure traffic is diverted from the area before beginning. No one should come near your floor while you are staining or waiting for it to dry. To apply the stain, work from the corners and rub the stain in using a rag. Go with the wood grain and wipe off any excess as you go along. Stain should not sit on the wood, it will raise the grain of the wood and show every imperfection when it dries.

It is a best practice to allow your floor to dry overnight before attempting to walk on it or apply any type of finish. Once you're sure your wood is completely dry you are ready to put on your wood flooring finish. <bio>More refinishing hardwood flooring information can be found at http://www.layingwoodflooring.com./sitemap/index.html plus wood flooring care and maintenance tips. </bio>

Quinoa, an Ancient Grain (Seed)

Quinoa is a "rediscovered" grain that has many health benefits.

You pronounce Quinoa as "Keen-Wa".

This ancient food was once considered to be "the gold of the Incas" and is finding its way back into the modern diet. People who want a grain that is less allergenic than wheat and as versatile as rice should consider quinoa.

Quinoa is technically a seed, although it looks like a grain. It is the seed of a green leafy plant. When you cook quinoa it becomes fluffy with a bit of a crunch. It is truly a uniquely textured food that many people enjoy when they first encounter it. When quinoa seeds are cooked, the shell of the grain (seed) separates from the center, creating the dual texture. It has a nutty flavor and is a perfect substitute for rice or pasta.

Quinoa comes in several different varieties including yellow, orange, pink, red, purple and black. The most common variety is the yellow kind, which becomes semi transparent when cooked. The leaves of the quinoa plant are also edible and nutritious, although they are sometimes hard to find.

Quinoa is a "super grain" because it has so many healthy benefits. It contains all of the essential amino acids in addition to lots of iron, potassium and B vitamins. It's a great option for vegetarians because it offers nutrients that most people get from meat.

Quinoa is a Complete Protein

The protein that quinoa provides is complete protein. It includes all nine essential amino acids, and has a high concentration of lysine. Lysine is necessary for tissue growth and repair and is especially necessary if you lead an active lifestyle.

Quinoa provides high concentrations of calcium, manganese, magnesium, iron, tryptophan, copper and phosphorus. Since they are seeds instead of grains, they have a higher good fat content. The fats in quinoa are heart healthy and beneficial for brain functioning.

Quinoa Helps Curb Cravings

Unlike other grains, quinoa won't spike your blood sugar and leave you craving more carbohydrates. The fat and protein content in quinoa are balanced with the carbohydrates, so it will leave you full and satisfied. It will fill you up and keep you fuller for longer than rice, pasta or breads.

How to Cook Quinoa

Quinoa makes a quick meal and is easy to prepare. Rinse off the seeds to remove the coating, and then place the quinoa in a pot (2 parts quinoa to 1 part water). The seeds cook in about fifteen minutes. They can also be prepared in a rice cooker. Adding broth instead of water or adding veggies is a great way to liven up the flavor of the dish.

Quinoa flour is an easy way to get more of the grain into your diet. Since it is gluten-free, it makes a great substitution for people with celiac disease or those who just want to get the benefits of the grain. In order for bread and other baked good to bake properly, you can only substitute 75% quinoa flour for wheat flour. So if a recipe calls for 1 cup of flour, you can use three-quarters of a cup of quinoa and quarter of a cup of wheat. Even with this mixture, you'll still be reaping the rewards of eating quinoa. <bio>Are cravings for sugar, salt, junk food, sodas, and coffee running your life?
The modern man is a busy man, with today's hectic lifestyle, it is a bit hard to find time in the gym just to stay fit. Fortunately, there is a diet plan which could help eliminate weight without going through strenuous routines. Here are some great tips on balancing all of the nutrients in your diet so that you don't have to spend hours inside the gym each day:

Good Ol' Carbs

Still the best sources of carbohydrates are vegetables, whole grain cereals, beans and fruits. These foods are rich in minerals, vitamins, fibre and phytonutrients. Most people are fooled by thinking that white rice, white bread, pastries and sugared foods can be good sources of carbohydrates--nothing can be farther from the truth.

A better way of stocking on carbohydrates (and not gain weight in the process) is by:

•	Eating a breakfast of whole grain cereals (can be taken hot or cold).
•	Eating sandwiches that have loads of mayonnaise or catsup is a no-no, why not gulp down whole grain breads for your lunch instead?
•	Eat brown rice, whole wheat pasta, wheat berries, and other whole grains for dinner.
•	Consuming beans since they are a good source of slowly digested carbohydrates and essential proteins.
•	Having a lower carbohydrate diet by consuming only vegetables and fruits every day.

Feeling Fuller

The idea to losing weight is to not eat each and every time. The stomach is emptied every 4 hours and, therefore, it can ask for more food as the partly-digested food goes down to the small intestines. People often have the tendency to eat full meals or snacks (which are equivalent to full meals) each time that they feel hungry. This can be avoided by eating your meals at 5 different intervals yet with equal, small amounts. This means that you don't have to stuff yourself to the brim every mealtime. Eating more meals at smaller portions has been proven to be an effective method of losing weight.

For those who can't endure such a method, then you can eat in moderation but just make sure that you couple your diet with a good amount of exercise. In other words, eat as much as you need and then work it out in the gym.

The role of protein has always been given emphasis when it comes to staying fit. There are animal and plant sources of protein and it's best to have a stock on both. Poultry products, fish, lean meat, and soybeans are all great sources of protein. You can eat a good portion of protein and not gain weight. This is why most athletes are even encouraged to eat more protein-rich foods and to cut down on other types of foods.

Other nutritious foods that have low calories can be enjoyed with a bottle of water that will keep you full for hours! Eating more is definitely allowed, as long as you know which foods to eat. Also, coupling your diet with the simplest exercise program (such as brisk walking) is very effective.<bio>Supplement Centre is a leading store for Body Building and Sports Nutrition products from leading brands such as Prolab, Muscletech and Optimum Nutrition</bio>

Rushing to Eat

People's lives have become so busy and rushing around, that we no longer eat the way we should. In some places, there is a McDonald's on every major corner, if not some other fast food restaurant. Watching TV, you see a commercial for some kind of food place almost every time commercials are on, urging you to eat there because it's good and you can get it fast and cheap. With so many distractions and obligations, families have these days, how do you eat healthy in a fast food world? It's not an easy thing to do but is possible with planning and knowing what to look for. This isn't to say fast food can't be consumed occasionally, but it should be less often than people are doing it now. Not to mention that our food is so processed that it takes five minutes to cook and has high carbohydrates among other things that are not digested quickly. This is leading to obesity in the population.

The Truth About Whole Grain

Because food is so processed these days to make it faster to cook, as well as more convenient for the way our lives have become, it is actually not as good for you as it once was. Recently the food administration even changed the food pyramid to coincide with how we eat these days and food is made. They are suggesting more whole grains than ever before, as well as vegetables. This may sound like what has been told to children for years, but even whole grains are deceiving on packaging these days. With all the new diets out there for low carb, no carb, low fat, no fat, etc., foods are coming out that say whole grain but are just as processed as its white counterpart. They are made with enriched wheat. This process takes out all the nutrients and other things that take time to digest for a healthy life. Reading the ingredient is a good way to find the real whole grain product. They are now more expensive than the over processed product because manufacturers could make the enriched version cheaper and faster. To eat healthy you have to read the labels of everything you consume.

Healthy Choices at Fast Food Eateries

The truth is that you really can't eat healthy at any fast food restaurant. They aren't designed for those trying or needing to watch what they put in their mouth. But you can make better decisions. Don't' eat the bread if you can stand not too. It's along the lines of the South Beach Diet but that's where lots of your weight gaining properties are. Don't get anything fried, this includes French fries, onion rings, or even fried chicken. Get a diet pop, tea, or water. Avoid the desert and the salad, both have sugar in them and I don't just mean in the toppings. Watch "Super Size Me" for a real eye opener. The show is on McDonald's but you can bet that all fast food restaurants are basically the same. Limit how often you eat fast food to once per week, if that fast. Get a wrap at Subway instead of a toasted sub. Less bread and just as filling with all the fixings you want. When you get pizza, get vegetables on it so you aren't just eating bread, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. Remember just how bad fast food is for you, your waistline, and your cholesterol. Even if you are fifteen, you should be thinking about how it will affect you later in life. Starting early will make it easier on your body as you age.

Eating at Home

The best thing to do is find a way to cook meals most nights of the week. This can take planning and team work. Have at least one non-meat dish every week. It doesn't have to be fish or seafood either. Don't use fast cooking rich to go with your meals. Those are again loaded with carbohydrates, which take your body longer to break down and will make you hungry sooner than you should be. Plan weekly meals so that you can cook casseroles and other easy to reheat dishes early in the week for days you will not have time to cook. Utilize your crock-pot and get a recipe book for it. You can make just about anything in a crock pot these days and have a good meal when you get home. Have salad a few times a week with dinner, but watch how much dressing you put on it. Have desert, but make it Jell-O. Indulge once in a while to though and it won't feel like you are depriving yourself of anything. About The Author: D.
A quick perusal of your baker's shelves will tell you how popular multi-grain bread is. But it's not hard to bake--you can make your own. You can use any recipe and add the cracked grain mixture though traditionally, a whole wheat recipe is used. The following instructions and recipe will tell you how.

With most cereal mixes, 1/3 cup to 6 tablespoons of cereal per loaf is about the right ratio. If you want soft cereal bits in your bread, soak the cereal for an hour in hot water before starting the bread. It's not necessary but a nice touch. If you are baking bread in your bread machine on a three hour cycle, the long cycle will tend to soften the grains without pre-soaking.

Because both the bran in the whole wheat and flour and the sharp edges of cereal tend to cut the gluten strands as they develop, a couple tablespoons of added gluten is a good idea. Always use a quality, high-protein content bread flour. Your bread will never be better than the flour that you use.

Hi-Country Seven Grain Bread Recipe

This recipe uses a seven grain cereal mix. You can certainly use other cracked grain mixes or cracked wheat. Because different grain mixes and different grain sizes absorb water differently, be prepared to adjust the water to flour ratio in the recipe. (With our flours and cereal, in our kitchen, this is exactly the right water to flour ratio.)

Ingredients

3/4 cup seven grain cereal or other cereal or cracked wheat 1 1/2 cups hot water 6 tablespoons butter 3 cups good quality bread flour 3 cups whole wheat flour 2 tablespoons wheat gluten 1 teaspoon dough conditioner 1/4 cup granulated sugar 2 teaspoons salt 1/4 cup baker's high heat dry milk 1 7 gram packet of instant yeast 1 cup warm water at 105 to 110 degrees

Directions

1. Mix the cereal with the 1 1/2 cups hot water. Set aside for two hours to absorb the water and soften.

2. Melt the butter in the microwave and set it aside to cool. With shortening or butter, grease a large bowl for the dough and 2 large loaf pans (9 x 5-inch). If you are going to make hearth loaves, grease a baking sheet and sprinkle it with cornmeal.

3. Measure the flours into a large bowl by whisking the flour so that it's not packed and then spooning it into the measuring cup followed by leveling the top with a straightedge. Add the gluten and conditioner and stir to combine. Stir in the sugar, salt, and dry milk.

4. Put about 1/3 of the flour mixture in the bowl of your stand type mixer equipped with a dough hook. Add the yeast. Add the 1 cup water at the indicated temperature. With the dough hook, run the machine for thirty seconds to mix the water with the flour to create a slurry. Add cereal and water mixture and the rest of the flour mixture. (The cereal and water mixture should be 105 to 110 degrees. If it has cooled beyond that, reheat it in the microwave.) Add the melted butter.

5. Mix at medium speed for about four minutes or until the gluten has formed and the dough is elastic. The dough should be soft but not too sticky. To reach the right consistency, you may need to dribble a little extra water (maybe one tablespoon) or flour as the dough is kneading. Place the dough in the prepared bowl and cover it to keep the dough from drying while it rises. Let it rise until it doubles.

6. Gently deflate the dough and form two loaves either as free-standing loaves on a baking sheet or sandwich loaves for your bread pans. Cover the loaves and let them rise again until the dough is soft and puffy, about doubled in size.

7. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Bake the bread for about 35 minutes. The time will vary depending on your loaves, the pans, and your oven. The bread should make a hollow sound when thumped on the bottom. The internal temperature of the loaves should be 190 degrees.

Remove the loaves form the pans and let them cool on a wire rack. Cool completely, or nearly so, before slicing.

Copyright 2003-2007, The Prepared Pantry (http://www.prepraredpantry.com ).
Industrialized countries use an American diet that is based on junk science. The biggest cause of health problems in America is the nation's food supply. Research points to the risk of disease from consuming the diet that is prevalent in the industrialized countries. These studies reach the conclusion that a high fat diet with lots of fat from red meat consumption is the culprit. Other studies point to a diet high in red meat consumption as a cause of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and obesity. Most of the diets also included processed foods and sugar.

A new study of older Chinese women who eat a western-style diet loaded with fats, meats and sweets shows that they have a higher risk for breast cancer, than those women who eat a traditional diet of soy and vegetables. Does that mean that the Eskimos or early Native Americans had a high rate of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and high cholesterol? They did not exhibit the poor health or obesity facing the industrial world's population. Yet their diet was high in fat from animal sources.

The indigenous people of the world did not eat a processed food diet. They ate meat from animals that consumed their natural diet. They were not fed grain, antibiotics or hormones to fatten them up. When you eat meat from an animal that was raised on grain you are consuming a diet high in omega 6 fats. This is what causes the many health problems. The reason for the junk science is the lack of understanding that comes from using the American way of eating for guidance.

To think that this is anything more than junk science based on junk food is foolish. A healthy diet is food in its unprocessed form. The nutrients with the right ratio of fats are there for a reason. They are in a form where all the vitamins, minerals, enzymes work together for proper digestion and assimilation. Since the food manufacturers are busy trying to alter our food supply for cheaper production cost and higher yield we are going to get genetically engineer "food."

With cattle they want to fatten them as fast as the can, by any means possible. The difference between animals that are grass-fed and an animal that is grain-fed is enormous.

Enormous is the operative word here. The cattle are fattened with a high grain diet. They are mammals and so are humans. So, if grain makes cattle fat what do you think makes us fat? To add insult to injury they throw in some hormones to be sure they get fat fast enough. Red meat consumption studies do not take in to consideration these factors.

Now we get the grain and hormones when we consume meat. Now for the fun part post-menopausal women who were overweight showed a 60 percent greater risk of developing the most common kind of breast cancer, the kind fueled by the hormone estrogen. The meat will get the blame. However, grass fed beef and lamb lower all the risk factors for the diseases that plague the westernized nations of the world.

No wonder the public has a blind eye for these reports. They are confusing and contradictory. The studies that are for public health recommendations must address these issues. The contradictory research that comes out of these studies is unlikely to help anyone understand good sound nutrition. These studies are based on the American diet industries use of junk science. <bio>Paula Martinez is a contributing editor to Clermont Rocks which is a marketing resource for small business in Clermont, Florida.
Most people are completely aware of what commercially prepared dog food is actually comprised of, and you would be shocked to know the truth about some of the foods that are commercially available today. Your dog's health can suffer if you are feeding them the wrong food, and many commercially prepared dog food brands are simply not designed to keep a dog healthy, happy and active.

Dogs are infact carnivores. There are situations where they will eat other foods, but that does not mean that their stable diet should not be as carnivorous as possible. The first ingredient in the dog food that you purchase should absolutely be a source of meat based protein. If the first ingredient in your commercially available dog food is a grain or a vegetable then our advise to you is to switch brands. The first five or six ingredients should be primarily meat based protein sources, like chicken, beef and turkey. Fish or rice are moderately okay choices, but primarily you want to go for natural, meaty dog food when possible.

Your dog should be eating kibble primarily. Many pet owners will opt for canned wet food, mainly due to the convenience of it, and the fact that many dogs seem to prefer it. However, there is a reason why kibble is so important: It helps keep teeth clean, and healthy, and it aids in digestion. Wet food is a nice snack, but should not be the primary source of nutrients for the dog.

Some diets are better than others. Many people are beginning to get into the concept of raw diets, and the BARF diet which stands for Bones and Raw Food. While this is an ideal diet for a lot of breeds, it is not your only option. There are kibble brands out there that provide balanced nutrition, as they are created by dog food companies that are consistently updating their recipes and formulas in order to deliver the most efficient diets available based on scientific research and studies.

Are you ready to find a balanced nutritional diet for your dog? Check the label. Anything you buy for your dog to eat, you should check the label first. Just because there's vegetables and chunks of meat on the cover of the bag, that does not mean you are getting real, natural ingredients.

The ingredients should be primarily meat sources, and the grain sources should be adequately processed for maximum absorption by the dog's digestive system. The more artificial products and chemicals you find; the less healthy and nutritious the food should be considered to be. There are a lot of excellent dog food brands.

Your best bet is to shop around for different brands, flavours and types, compare the labels in order to get to know the ingredients, and find something that you really feel comfortable feeding. There's no harm in changing your dog's food if you find something better - Just make sure that you are always keeping your pet's best interest in mind. <bio>Derek Rogers is a freelance writer who represents a number of UK businesses.
The main ingredients found in beer are water, malted barley, hops, and yeast. There are other ingredients such as flavoring, sugar, and other ingredients that are commonly used. Starches are used as well, as they convert in the mashing process to easily fermentable sugars that will help to increase the alcohol content of beer while adding body and flavor.

Water

Seeing as how beer is mainly composed of water, the source of water and its characteristics have a very important effect on the character of the beer. A lot of beer styles were influenced by the characteristics of water in the region. Although the effect of minerals in brewing water is complex, hard water is more suited to dark styles, while soft ware is more suited to light styles.

Malt

Among malts, barley is the most widely used due to its high amylase content, and a digestive enzyme that facilitates the breakdown of starch into sugars. Depending on what can be cultivated locally, other malts and unmalted grains can be used, such as wheat, rice, oats, and rye.

Malt is obtained by soaking grain in water, allowing it to germinate, then drying the germinated grain in a kiln. By malting the grain, enzymes will eventually convert the starches in the grain into fermentable sugars.

Hops

Since the seventeenth century, hops have been commonly used as a bittering agent in beer. Hops help to contribute a bitterness that will balance the sweetness of the malts. They also contribute aromas which range from citrus to herbal.

Hops also provide an antibiotic effect that favors the activity of brewer's yeast over the less desirable microorganisms. The bitterness in beer is normally measured on the International Bitterness Units scale.

Yeast

Yeast is a microorganism that's responsible for fermentation. Specific strains of yeast are chosen depending on the type of beer produced, as the two main strains are ale yeast and lager yeast, with other variations available as well.

Yeast helps to metabolise the sugars that are extracted from the grains, and produces alcohol and carbon dioxide as a result. Before the functions of yeast were understood, all fermentations were done using wild or airborne yeasts.

Clarifying agent

A lot of brewers prefer to add one or more clarifying agents to beer that aren't required to be published as ingredients. Examples include Isinglas finings, which are obtained from swim bladders of fish and Irish moss, which is a type of red alga.

Since these ingredients can be obtained from animals, those who are concerned with either the use or consumption of animal products should obtain detailed information from the brewer. <bio>If your into great beer then visit my beer blog http://www.mybeerjournal.com </bio>

Then came World War II, which was instrumental in changing the manufacturing philosophy of the management at John Boos and also the course of the business. The John Boos plant operated from a blacksmith shop until 1892 and then it moved across town, and began producing the Boos blocks, cutting boards and kitchen furniture as we know them now. Naturally beautiful and durable, the work surface is constructed in classic butcher-block style, with bonded squares of select end-grain Northern hard maple sawn horizontally, sanded smooth, and finished by hand. The butcher block's resiliency and shock absorption protects knife edges while standing up to even the heaviest cleaver.
The high quality finish for your project can be the crowning touch the really shows off the beauty of the wood. Completing a really fine finish takes time, skill and good quality materials. A fine finish cannot be rushed experiences has taught fine woodworkers a little patience will go a long ways towards achieving a good quality finish.

The first up the good finish is prepping the wood it must be properly sanded as a rule of thumb down to 180 to 220 grit sandpaper depending on the type of wood. Remember to always sand with the grain and not across the grain if you sand across the grain you can leave scratches that will show up once the wood has been stained, all curved surfaces Will need to be sanded by hand by starting with a heavy grit work up to a finer grit. A little trick that I've learned is to wipe the wood down with mineral spirits prior to staining this will show any scratches in the wood that normally would not show up until you apply a stain. It is also a good idea to lightly sand all sharp edges.

Once your project has been prepped you are now ready to apply the stain But I prefer to use it in oil based stain tie have not found any water based stains that come close to a good quality of oil base stain. When using any softwoods as good idea to use a wood conditioner prior to staining soft woods can make the stain appear blotchy as the stain is not absorbed evenly by the wood. The bus practiced I've found for staining is to simply use old cloth that is clean of course and apply a liberal amount of stain to work peace allow the stain to set for a few minutes And wipe off any extra with a clean cloth. Allow the stain to dry prior to finishing with a top coat. The easiest most durable top coat to apply is a polyurethane clear finish it will take several coats most likely to three to two desired finish. I prefer to apply 2 coats of polyurethane And allow to dry thoroughly and sand off any dust particles that are stuck in the clear coat and follow up with a third and final coat. Once the third code has tried I like to wet sand with 320 grit sandpaper and then buff to a fine finish <bio>Megan Cherry writes for http://www.pegandrail.com </bio>

The type of grass you play on affects your game. That's especially true when it comes to putting, where the type of grass can dramatically affect your putts. Knowledge of how the different types of grass affect your game, gained through all your golf lessons, golf tips and personal experience, can help lower golf scores and golf handicaps.

Although every locale is different, there are grasses that can be used on almost on any course. There are also grasses that can be used only in specific areas of the United States, like the South. In addition, there are specialized varieties of grass developed specifically for putting greens. Known as cultivars, these varieties require intensive maintenance and considerable pesticide and herbicide maintenance.

Types of Grass

Bentgrass is a hardy, resilient type of grass. Brought to the America from Europe, this perennial is used on courses in the North, Northeast, and Midwest because it withstands cool temperatures. Creeping bentgrass is ideal for greens, fairways, and tees. Colonial bentgrass is better suited for fairways than greens because it's not well adapted to lower mowing heights.

Bermuda grass is a textured, fast repairing grass. Native to Southern Europe, it's used on courses in the South because it withstands heat. It adapts well to low mowing heights and is wearable. Bermuda grass is used for tees, fairways, and greens. In the cooler part of the season, Bermuda grass is overseeded with perennial ryegrass, known for its rapid reestablishment, until the Bermuda grass recovers from the Winter.

Other types of grass found on golf courses are Kentucky bluegrass, Zoysia, a warm season grass, and Bahiagrass, a low maintenance grass used in roughs. St. Augustine grass, native to the Wet Indies, can't be used as far North as Bermuda grass. Poa anna, a bluegrass that thrives in cool and damp conditions such as northern California, does well in hot and humid conditions but not in cold and freezing temperatures. Pebble Beach, for example, has poa anna greens.

How Grass Affects Your Game

A course's conditions, which include the type of grass used in the fairways, affects how you play. For example, the grass affects how much spin you can put on the ball. You can put more spin on shots hit from Zoysia grass than Bermuda grass because the ball sits up better. Bentgrass is also better for adding spin to the ball. Finding out what type of grass you're playing on before starting, as I often say in my golf lessons and golf tips, can save you strokes.

It's especially helpful to know the type of grass used on the greens. Some of the turf grasses developed specifically for greens make them fast, especially if the greens are well kept. TifEagle, a Bermuda grass developed for putting greens, is a good example of a turf grass that can be made really fast and thrives under close mowing and heat. Greens made with Tifdwarf are also fast but you can't keep it at the same height as bentgrass for long before it begins to thin out.

Grass and the Grain of the Putting Green

Creeping bentgrass is the grass of choice for putting greens in any climate in which it can be grown. Bentgrass has very thin blades, which grow densely. It can be mowed very closely, resulting in a felt-like smoothness to the putting surface. Hot, humid climates take a toll on bentgrass greens, so putting quality declines as temperatures rise. Hybrid Bermuda grass is used for putting greens in warm, humid regions. It tolerates heat well under low moving heights.

The key with any grass, as I've pointed out in my golf lessons and golf tips, is determining which way the grain goes. The grain is the direction the blades are growing thanks to factors like, the direction of the setting sun, prevailing winds, and water drainage on the greens. Aside from these identifiers, you can find the grain's direction by locating the brown, sunburned side of the hole (due to exposed roots). That's generally the direction the grass is growing.

The grain can affect your putting. Putts traveling down-grain will go at a much faster pace than putts hit into the grain, and breaking putts will either be magnified or reduced by the grain. Applying this understanding of grain while on the course will allow you to visualize the speed and direction of your putts more precisely, ultimately leading to lower scores and lower golf handicaps.

Now, what I've just explained to you should help you understand how grass affects your game, but experience is the best teacher. Be aware of the type of grass you're playing on and keep track of how it affects your game. Knowing how the grass plays can lower your scores. <bio>Jack Moorehouse is the author of the best-selling book "How To Break 80 And Shoot Like The Pros http://www.howtobreak80.com.." He is NOT a golf pro, rather a working man that has helped thousands of golfers from all seven continents lower their handicap immediately. </bio>

If you are just a beginner and do not really have much experience on shopping for home brewing supplies and materials, it would be best for you to stick to home brewing kits for a start.

The good thing about home brewing kits is that you already have all the things that you need in one package so you need not spend so much time figuring out what materials and ingredients you should buy to be able to produce your own beer. Note that as a beginner, you may not really be very familiar with the things that you need to produce your own beer so it is not really advisable to shop for these materials and ingredients individually.

Getting Your Starter Kits

Before you go shopping for your home brewing kits, it would be a good idea for you to first research on the things that you need. If you know somebody or if you have a friend who is into beer brewing, talk to this person and ask for advice. Most beer brewing enthusiasts are very eager to share their knowledge so it will not be difficult for you to extract some information from this person.

In fact, your friend might even invite you for a demonstration on how he or she makes his or her won beer. In case you get invited to watch him or her make his or her own beer, bring a notebook along and take notes. Pay close attention to the details especially on the materials and equipments being used. This information will be very useful when you go out and buy your own home brewing kits.

Most home brewing kits come in small and handy packages which you can use easily. For instance, if you are interested in buying some organic beer kits, there are many home brewing kits that are composed of small grain bags. The grain bags may contain organic malt extract and fresh organic hops. A brewing instruction can be found inside the grain bags. In most cases, the instructions attached to these home brewing kits are usually illustrated and are very simple to follow.

Now, many cases beginners do not really get the right taste of the beer on their first few tries. If your beer happens to taste funny or even horrid, don't give up. Always remember that learning to make great beer takes time and a lot of patience. With constant practice, you will soon be making great tasting beer. <bio>Ann Marier writes informative articles about the house and garden issues. Her latest are about home brewing.
