Strait's pure country sound may be a tribute to his true-to-roots nature, but that reputation in some ways belies his ability to innovate and to bring his personality and style to every show he plays and every song he releases. A look at Strait's life will shed some light on how his persona came to be.

Early Beginnings

George Harvey Strait was born on May 18, 1952 in Poteet, Texas, but grew up in Pearsall. Strait's father was a school teacher, but they left Pearsall nearly every weekend to work on the family farm. Strait's parents divorced when he was in the fourth grade, and his sister left with his mother, while he and his brother stayed with their father.

When Strait got to high school, he played in his first band, and their style was rock and roll. However, he soon discovered his preference for country music, and he found himself listening to and being influenced by the likes of Merle Haggard, George Jones, Bob Wills and Hank Williams.

Strait finished high school and enrolled in college, but soon dropped out and married his high school sweetheart in Mexico. In 1971, Strait enlisted in the United States Army. While he was stationed in Hawaii, Strait continued to hone his style, playing for an Army-sponsored band called "Rambling Country," and they also used the stage name "Santee."

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Strait returned to school and finished his degree in agricultural studies at Southwest Texas State University. Although Strait was proud to earn his degree, he used this time as well to further his musical development.

Career Beginnings

Strait managed his cattle farm during the day after he finished school, but began to play local honky tonk bars at night. He was soon noticed by record executives, and he signed his first recording contract and released his first album in 1981. The debut was a success, and set the stage for the rest of his career.

Strait's sound was clearly influenced by his classical country heroes, but his style also incorporated a more modern-type of energy. His live shows were also a huge draw, and George Strait tickets soon became a hot item in Texas and all over the country.

Accomplishments

Overall, Strait has sold an estimated 62 million copies of his albums, enjoyed dozens of chart-topping singles and albums, and he has filled his trophy room with awards. Strait has won dozens of Country-and-American Music Awards, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006. Some of the famous country music singers, who played a vital role in its popularity, include Bob Wills, Willie Nelson and George Strait. It is their music that has led the music listeners to be mesmerized by the rhythms and the composition of the chords. To endow this form of music, many songs adapted to suit the country music style.

One of the fine examples are the Milk Cow Blues tune which is an early blues tune composed by Kokomo Arnold. In fact, the renowned singers like Bob Wills, Willie Nelson, and George Strait have all sung their own versions of the Milk Cow Blues Tune.

The success and popularity of the country music can be credited to Vernon Dalhart record "The Wreck of Old 97," which was released in the year 1924 and was a huge success. This was when the Country music really took off.

To add more glory to the music form other singers like Riley Pucket, Fiddling John Carson and Charlie Poole joined the country western scene, making it more popular. Here are some instructions on taking care of your CD sets.

When you get a CD set, it usually comes in a protective case meant to keep the CD's in a proper condition. It is therefore advisable never to loose these cases as CD's without them can get scratches and can catch dust. If you somehow loose these cases or boxes, immediately shift the CD set CD's into a CD pouch meant to keep them in proper order and condition.
George Nelson was born in 1908 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA and he died in 1986 in New York at the age of seventy eight. George Nelson is seen as one of the factors in Americans modernism along with Charles and Ray Eames. George Nelson is remembered as being the inventor of beautiful and practical things.

George Nelson graduated from Yale University in 1928 where he had been studying architecture. In 1931 George Nelson graduated with a bachelor degree in fine arts. In 1932 George Nelson won the Rome Prize whilst preparing for the Paris Prize competition.

George Nelson was unable to find a lot of architecture projects, so he decided to turn to interior designing and product designing and graphics.

George Nelson spent a couple of years travelling through Europe whilst being based in Rome. It was in this time that he met some of the modern pioneers. After a couple of years of traveling, George Nelson returned to America where he started to devote himself to writing.

In 1935 George Nelson became the first associate editor of the Architectural Forum, which he continued to do until 1943 when he became a consultant editor.

George Nelson had by 1940 drawn a lot of attention to his work by the innovation of several concepts. In a book, which George Nelson wrote called Tomorrow's House, he introduced the concept of a family room. Another of George Nelson's concepts was the "storagewall". This concept attracted a great deal of interest especially from Herman Miller, so much so that in 1945 he asked George Nelson to be his design director. Herman Miller himself was a fine designer and clockmaker.

The role of design director saw the start of a lot of excellent collaborations between George Nelson and Ray and Charles Eames, Harry Bertois and many others.

One of George Nelson's designs was the Ball Clock. The Ball clock was iconically designed after a night of drinking with friends, although it is still unknown to this day who originally came up with the concept.

George Nelson had a talent for commercial business as well as for designing. George Nelson used these two strong talents to create a success that rewarded him for his life. On the 26th October 1955 George Nelson started Gorge Nelson and Associates.

Herman Miller offered George Nelson a lot of money to become his creative designer. From the start of the business there was money coming in from a wide range of projects. The first office of the company was on 251 Park Avenue South in New York. George Nelson rented this office space together with Howard Miller and Herman Miller. The office took on a young Italian student who was so impressed with the work being carried out in the office that he applied and received a student visa to work in Italy. The student's name was Ettore Sottsass, and he later went on to be a renowned designer within his own right.

From the first day of the George Nelson Associates Inc business to the day that it closed in the mid 1980's it developed a lot of close relationships, and many of these were with the Fortune 500 companies.<bio>Find international design at furniture design.
My husband retired last year, and I have always been a stay at home mom raising the kids. However, our wonderful children have since grown and are living their own lives, so my husband George and I can do what we want to now. Not that we couldn't when our kids were growing up, but you know what I mean -- we can start having adventures again.

I'm always amazed at the fun things George has up his sleeve after all these years. I mean, we're in our late 60's and people often mistake us for newlyweds! Can you imagine? George always gives me little hints about our trips and all he would say is that we were going to a Florida attraction I'd never guess. He sure was right! George surprised me just last week on our 45th wedding anniversary with a brochure on Cypress Airboats. Never in my life did I imagine I'd be riding on any kind of open air boat in the midst of snakes, lizards, alligators, and lord knows what else.

I would have thought George might take me to one of the better-known Florida Attractions like Disney World or Busch Gardens. I am so glad he chose an airboat tour instead! It was so thrilling!

George selected an early morning airboat tour, and we had breakfast just before we started. When I stepped onto the airboat, I was really nervous, but George just tucked my arm under his and guided me along like he has all these years. We were able to see alligators, and the only place I ever thought I'd want to see alligator skin was on a purse! It was just so exciting. I felt like I could reach out and touch the alligators, but of course, I didn't!

The best part of the airboat trip, aside from having a special tour of the Florida Everglades with my wonderful husband, was when we saw a blue heron. One of our first dates way back when was at a jazz club called the Blue Heron. There is no way George could have anticipated we would see a blue heron on our trip with Cypress Airboats, but it made our tour even more perfect.

If you are considering a trip to Florida, I would definitely recommend Cypress Airboats' private tours over any other Florida Attraction. Sure, you could go ride roller coasters and see how movies are made, but those are common events in a person's life and will be logged with all the other memories you often forget. I can't think of any attraction in Florida that is more memorable that the Florida Everglades with their thick vegetation and fantastic wildlife. George and I had such a great time we're thinking of going again for our 50th wedding anniversary and taking an even longer airboat tour! <bio>http://www.CypressAirboats.com - Open Year Round. </bio>

If you are considering a retirement move, St. George, Utah is a safe, fun place to live.

Washington County and St. George (the city in the heart of Washington County) enjoy a very low crime rate. When it comes to raising children our community, schools, and parents in particular, use strong old fashioned values to guide the children and teenagers. This caring environment produces warm, friendly families who care about their neighbors and neighborhoods.

Summers in St. George are hot from June to August. Summer temperatures run from about 104 to 110 during the day. Fall and spring are beautiful with temps running 70s to 80's. Winters are crisp during January and February with hard frosts at night and 50 temperatures during the day.

St. George has an amazing variety of entertainment activities. For example we have a 2000 seat outdoor amphitheater (Tuachan Amphitheater) that has a stage back drop of soaring 1000 foot red rock cliffs. These cliffs occasionally are highlighted with natural water falls shortly after a rain fall. Productions of Cats, Westside Story, South Pacific, and Peter Pan are just a few of the shows that run throughout the summer and fall.

Washington County, where St. George is located, also has a live musical theater in-the-round (St. George Musical Theater), two new libraries and several first-class restaurants. There is shopping galore, with most stores being new or nearly new.

Of course, the natural beauty of Southern Utah is amazing. Several National and State Parks are very close by. The red rocks of Zion Park, Bryce Canyon and Snow Canyon State Parks are within just a few minutes to a few hours drive of St. George.

The St. George area attracts a lot of retirees. This means that age restricted communities abound. In addition to the retirement communities, the builders tend to cater to retirees by building a lot of one story homes with large rooms and small easy to manage yards. There are also several gated communities geared towards the "well-to-do" with home prices starting at $750,000 and going up from there.

If you are looking for a great retirement town, St. George, Utah might be the place to move to. <bio>This content is provided by http://www.stgeorgerealestate.info and may be used or republished only in its entirety with all links included.
The George White Insurance Agency understands the problems facing consumers in need of auto insurance in Texas. Current rates are very high, and this is even more the case if you need auto insurance in Houston or another dense metropolitan area. Founded in 1983 in Houston, TX, the George White Insurance Agency brings its wide array of experience and knowledge to bear on your individual situation. If you live in Texas, cheap auto insurance is guaranteed to you by virtually every insurance agency you hear advertised on the television or the radio. While low rates are certainly important, George White's commitment runs much deeper. He will work diligently to provide you a Texas auto insurance quote that takes into account your individual needs, now and in the future. This detailed, comprehensive approach is, quite simply, what separates the George White Insurance Agency from other auto insurance agents.

George White personally has over twenty five years experience in all facets of the Texas property and casualty insurance industry, including three years in underwriting, two in finance, one year in the comptrollers office, and four years in claims evaluation as a licensed examiner. This has given George White a broad understanding of all aspects of the insurance industry and the many complex perspectives that are involved. He will work to provide you with the best Texas auto insurance quote available to him, whatever your situation. George White will be the first to admit, however, that the companies he represents may not necessarily have the best products and rates for your individual needs. Should this be the case, George White will provide you his expert assistance by suggesting alternatives that are most likely to benefit you.

Whether the George White Insurance Agency is able to provide you auto insurance coverage, or simply point you in the right direction, the commitment of this company far exceeds most expectations. George White's objective is not only to provide you the best auto insurance rates and the most comprehensive coverage today, but also to advise you on how to structure your insurance habits in such a way that your rates do not increase in the future. Again, this is especially important for those seeking Texas auto insurance in Houston or other metropolitan areas, where the high incidents of traffic accidents and population growth have made rates extremely volatile.

Simply a phone call or email to George White Insurance Agency will allow you to interact directly with the agent. George White can provide you with a wealth of information regarding, not only Texas auto insurance, but also your property, commercial and financial insurance needs--should you desire. We realize commercial insurance is many times complicated by insurance jargon that creates confusion for individuals who are otherwise experts in their own fields. We will not allow that to happen at Texas Auto Home Insurance. George White and his helpful staff are eager to discuss your situation in detail and ensure that you receive the best possible coverage at the lowest rates. George White is convinced that Texans deserve service of this magnitude. This distinction will become clear once you contact us.<bio>Texas Auto Insurance.
When he entered the cooking appliance market, George Foreman ended up delivering a knockout punch in terms of sales. A number of people--whether they're seasoned chefs or novice cooks--rave about the George Foreman grill. Still, you may be wondering what's so special about this popular product.

Some consumers say the Foreman grill is the best "as seen on TV" product ever produced. In large measure, this is because the meat cooked on this machine is spectacular in taste. As one fan put it, "Words cannot describe how good (it is)..." The grill is also particularly effective at draining fat from meat. There seems to be little doubt that the Foreman grill "cuts the fat" from food. In addition, the grill is quite easy to clean--you simply wipe the surface with a soft cloth or sponge dipped in water, then place the drip tray in the dishwasher.

Cooks say the smaller version of Foreman's Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine is terrific for preparing fast, low-fat meals--particularly for couples or single people. The double-sided grilling surface can heat in less than five minutes, which makes the grill convenient for today's busy lifestyles. The grill's high grooves permit fat to run off as the meat cooks. A plastic, grooved spatula can scrape off bits of fat that tend to get stuck to the surface of the grill.

However, the George Foreman is not just for hamburgers and chicken. You can also use it for cooking vegetables and tofu dogs. Since the grill is double-sided, the food cooks twice as fast. In addition, the grill creates little smoke, so it's environmentally-friendly as well.

Nutritionists say that the George Foreman also offers significant health benefits. By eliminating the customary pool of grease, the grill produces lean meat that is much more nutritious. As a result, the George Foreman offers a way to create heart-healthy meals.

Because of the speed with which the grill cooks, you'll end up spending less time in the kitchen. That means you can devote more time to your family and friends. And isn't that what entertaining should really be about? <bio>Doug Mahopac specializes in grills at http://www.a-grill.com and http://www.grill-i.com </bio>

We all choose the God we want to serve. Jesus taught that it was impossible to serve two masters. A person either hates the one, and loves the other, or holds to one and despises the other.

If you choose to serve God, the Father in Heaven, then relax. Don't sit and think about continually how to preserve your life. Don't wonder about what you will eat, or what you will drink or what clothes to put on. The fowls of the air do not sow or reap, nor gather into barns because the heavenly Father feeds them. People are better than these. Furthermore, who can add one cubit to their stature just by thinking about it? Look at the lilies of the field, observe how they grow. They don't toil or spin. So if a God clothes the grass of the field that is to day and tomorrow is gone he will also provide you with garments unless you have little or no faith in him to do.

The heavenly Father knows we have need of food to eat, drinks and clothes. Jesus advises men and women to think more about and to seek the kingdom of God first. All these other things will then be added to you. Don't worry about what tomorrow will bring for tomorrow will take care of itself, concentrate more upon seeking a life everlasting hereafter and the kingdom of God.

Be careful about casting judgments upon others because for what judgment you cast upon another, you will be judged of the same exact way. Don't try to set others right and spend all your time trying to correct someone else. Concentrate on what you need to improve upon. If you are full of faults and sins yourself, there is no way you will have the ability or knowledge to correct someone else spiritually. If you desire to be a spiritual guide of others, don't be a hypocrite. First get yourself free of sin and faults so you can see clear enough and have the wisdom to spiritually guide someone else.

Ask the Father in heaven and you shall receive from him. Seek after the Father in heaven and you will find him. Knock at the door of the Father of heaven and the door will open to you.

What if your son or daughter asked you for a piece of bread, would you throw him a stone? Or if your son or daughter ask you for a piece of fish, would you hand him a serpent? Even if you are one of the most evil and wicked persons ever to walk the earth, chances are, you may still be a bit soft-hearted toward your sons and daughters. I say, chances are greater this is true. We all know there are child abusers and parents that do not love their children, but taking our society as a whole, there are probably more that regardless of their own evil deeds, they will be a bit soft-hearted toward their sons and daughters.

The Father in heaven knows that even evil people or sinner people know how to give good gifts to their children. The Father in heaven is able and willing much more than this to give good gifts to them that ask him. In order to see this principle actually work for you, God expects you to obey a law of the prophets which is: All things whatsoever you would that men should do to you do the same for or to them.

There is a strait gate that is narrow and leads to eternal life. Few people will actually find this way. Don't overlook the subtle teachings of Jesus and you will be one who will find that way.

This article is FREE to publish with the resource box.

=A9 2007 Connie Limon.
The title comes from a Desperate Housewives episode, a program that has exemplified to great effect the idea that evil doesn't just come in the form of dictators, suicide bombers, corrupt governments, or disasters, but rather, that evil subsists among the ordinary and the mundane. It's an every day occurrence and it walks among us, in the suburbs and the cities, as our co-workers, friends, neighbors, and even as our own family members. Those same universal themes are at the crux of my novel, Shades of Darkness, Shades of Grace.

An episode titled, "That's Good, That's Bad" perfectly captures this theme as nearly everyone on Wisteria Lane is confronted with acts of malice that force decisions, just as the Pierson family debates how to deal with a former family member's brutal and continuous assault in Shades of Darkness. Ultimately, everyone makes choices of how to approach the evil within their lives, and none are without consequence.

For the Desperate Housewives, Lynette and Bree make the most difficult choices. When Lynette Scavo catches her boss, Nina, in an amorous embrace with a fellow co-worker, she tries to use the incident as leverage. Embarrassed, Nina asks what it will take to keep Lynette quiet. Lynette responds she wants Nina to be civil to her and her team. However, crafty Nina gets rid of the problem by firing the co-worker, Stu. Incensed, Lynette contacts Stu, letting him know that he can sue the company for sexual harassment. But her plan backfires, as the ad agency's owner fires Nina and co-workers, fearing the company will go broke fighting the harassment suit Stu has filed. Only Lynette keeps her job, but not without the painful realization that it was her actions, righteous or misdirected, that caused this turn of events.

Bree Van De Camp's conflict with evil comes in the form of George, the pharmacist she was engaged to. She's discovered George is behind the injuries her therapist suffered when someone riding a bike threw him off a bridge. Now, the police are closing in on George, as they search his home for evidence in the attack. Realizing he's backed into a corner, George checks into the hotel where Bree is hosting a fundraiser.

As the distraught George takes an overdose of pills, the police contact Bree with the news they have discovered evidence that George poisoned her late husband, Rex. Drifting in and out of consciousness, George summons Bree to his room. She tells George she can only forgive him if he admits to what he's done. Defiant, George says that whatever he did, he did because Bree wanted him to. Then he asks her to please call an ambulance before it's too late. Bree smiles her sweetest smile and tells him she already has. And Bree then makes her choice to sit and wait for George to die.

One might also ask who is committing the greater evil in these scenarios, as no one walks away scot-free. What's clear is that evil makes its presence known in ordinary lives, whether it's on Wisteria Lane, in the Twin Cities, or across the globe. As Kay observes near the end of Shades of Darkness, ". . . goodness and evil each present us with choices, and they are never as simple as they might appear." Lynette, Bree, and the Pierson's are all pushed by sheer malevolence to make difficult decisions and take measures they would otherwise never consider.

Those actions do have consequences, some more daunting than others. In real life, probably more often than we would dare think, evil sometimes not only drives a minivan, it takes a seat at the dinner table. <bio>Catherine Johnson is the author of Shade of Darkness, Shades of Grace published through iUniverse. Now, I hardly think you write with a pencil and paper, so what I really mean is, take those fingers off that keyboard and do a lot less typing and lot more thinking.

If it's not on the page, it's not on the stage. Meaning, if your selling proposition is not clear in your mind, and burning in your cells before you even begin to write, don't bother writing. In advertising, it's called a strategy. It is a clear positioning for the product, a clear personality for the brand, and a clear proposition for the particular ad. Once that's clear, an effective ad, website, or brochure can be written.

Conversely, if you really don't know what you want to say. Or you want to say 16 things. Or you want to say three things but you're not sure which is the most important. Or you're certain your widget is ground-breaking but you're not exactly sure why. Or you know every molecular molecule about your product and by George, you're going to put your head down and pour them all onto paper....

If any of these scenarios are the case: STOP!

I've often said an ad is the answer to a question. If the question is clearly stated, the answer will be clear. If the question is muddy and unclear, so will the answer. You know those brochures and ads that make you go: Huh? They are examples of the question not being clear so the answer is a pile of unintelligible nonsense.

What do you want to say? What is the Unique Selling Proposition (a grand old term in advertising) of your good or service?

What is the argument. The first, the best, the most. It must be clear and it must be distinguishing. Put that pencil down until you're clear.

And then make sure the intention to persuade burns in every cell, and informs every word you write.

Because if it's not on the page, it's not on the stage

Or, if it's not in the strategy, it's a tragedy.<bio>Paul Wolfe, who has written famous campaigns for dozens of world-class clients like Levi's, Volvo and BMW and was named Writer of the Year twice by Adweek magazine, has just penned the ultimate copywriting book. Click here MaximumStrengthCopywriting.com and transform your success and copywriting power instantly.</bio>

If you have recently received a DUI in Florida, you may be getting advice from friends and family about what you can expect as punishment. It's best to remember that a lawyer will always be your best source of information. Lawyers can help you understand the legal structure, and they can also help you understand how the specifics relating to your case will correspond to the law. Just because someone you know was punished one way doesn't mean that you will be punished the same way. Florida has set some basic guidelines for punishment upon conviction.

If This Is Your First Conviction

According to fine schedule 312.193(2) (a)-(b), F.S., a first conviction is subject to a fine of not less than $250.00, but no more than $500.00. If the blood alcohol level was .20 or higher or a minor was in the vehicle, the fine is slightly higher of not less than $500.00, but no more than $1,000.00. The exact fine amount is usually set by the judge and can be argued by lawyers, but it is generally up to the sole discretion of the judge.

If This Is Your Second Conviction

According to fine schedule 312.193(2) (a)-(b), F.S., a second conviction is subject to a fine of not less than $500.00 and not more than $1,000.00. If your blood alcohol level was .20 or higher, you can expect your fine to be higher. This is also true if a minor was in the vehicle with you. If either of these situations applies to you, you can expect your fine to be no less than $1,000.00, but not more than $2,000.00.

If This Is Your Third Conviction

According to fine schedule 312.193(2)(a)-(b), F.S., if this is your third conviction in more than 10 years, you will be fined no less than $1,000.00 and no more than $2,500.00. If you were arrested with a blood alcohol of more than .20 or a minor was in the vehicle, the fine will be no less than $2,000.00.

If you have a third conviction within 10 years, you will be fined no more than $5,000.00. If you had a blood alcohol of .20 of higher or there was a minor in the vehicle with you at the time of your arrest, you will be fined no less than $2,000.00.

If This Is Your Fourth Conviction

According to fine schedule 312.193(2)(a)-(b), F.S., if this is your fourth or subsequent conviction, you will be charged no less than $1,00.00, and if there was a blood alcohol of .20 or higher or there was a minor present, the fine will be no less than $2,000.00. Of course, on a fourth offense, most judges will be quick to give a heftier fine to help deter you from future DUI charges.

Community Service Community service is generally something that judges order DUI offenders to do. A first conviction can warrant up to 50 hours of community service and an additional fine of $10 for each hour of community service ordered. On a first conviction, it is possible for probation/incarceration to last up to one year of time. Imprisonment isn't typical, but it is at the court's discretion and is dependent upon the circumstances of the case.

Imprisonment If imprisonment is warranted, there are limits as to what the court can decide. For a first conviction, the convicted cannot spend more than six months incarcerated, or 9 months, if the blood alcohol was .20 or higher. For a second conviction, you could spend as much as nine months imprisoned, and up to 12 months if the blood alcohol was more than .20. A second conviction requires at least ten days of imprisonment, with at least 48 hours of consecutive confinement. A third conviction within ten years requires a mandatory imprisonment of at least 30 days, with at least 48 consecutive hours of confinement. If the third conviction takes place after ten years, the offender cannot be held for more than 12 months. A fourth conviction can mean up to five years of imprisonment, as indicated in 775.084, and listed as a habitual or violent offender. Imprisonment for these charges is usually spent in a treatment facility for drugs and/or alcohol abuse.

As you can see, there is a lot of room for negotiation with fines, community service, and time spent in treatment programs of some type. With a lawyer by your side, you have a better chance of getting through the legal process and rebuilding your life on the other side of it. Don't just go with the flow and believe what your friends and family tell you. Each case is different, so be sure that you get the best legal defense for your case. <bio>http://www.Norvell-Harvey.com handles DUI,Personal Injury, and Criminal lawsuits within Southf Florida.
The show that literally redefined the sitcom genre, Seinfeld evolved from an idea of "a show about nothing" into a sacred pop culture icon. The show follows the life and times of comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his best friends, George Costanza (Jason Alexander), Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), and Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Living lives of complete selfishness (which is why most of us relate so well to the show), they're joined by an extensive cast of eccentric supporting characters such as Newman, Uncle Leo, J. Peterman, the Soup Nazi, Frank and Estelle Costanza, and countless others.

The Seinfeld (Season 7) DVD features some of most hilarious episodes in the series including the season premiere "The Engagement" in which Jerry and George agree that their lives are utterly pathetic, prompting them to make a pact to settle down. Reinvigorated by life, George proposes to his ex-girlfriend Susan, but is soon enraged when he discovers Jerry has broken up with his latest girlfriend. As a result, George spends the remainder of Season 7 trying to concoct the perfect scheme for breaking up with Susan.

Another notable episode is "The Soup Nazi," an episode based on a real life soup counter in New York City. One of most quoted Seinfeld shows in history, the Soup Nazi character and his "No soup for you!" tagline instantly became part of the American vernacular. "The Rye," where George and Jerry make a feeble attempt to replace a marble rye stolen by George's parents actually spawned an Internet video game, and "The Cadillac" features Morty Seinfeld and arch-nemesis Jack Klompus at their very best. Throw in Newman and Kramer's Michigan recycling plan and a season finale cliffhanger that ranks among the best in series history, and Season 7 of Seinfeld is guaranteed to entertain anyone who loves comedy!

Below is a list of episodes included on the Seinfeld (Season 7) DVD:

Episode 111 (The Engagement) Air Date: 09-21-1995 Episode 112 (The Postponement) Air Date: 09-28-1995 Episode 113 (The Maestro) Air Date: 10-05-1995 Episode 114 (The Wink) Air Date: 10-12-1995 Episode 115 (The Hot Tub) Air Date: 10-19-1995 Episode 116 (The Soup Nazi) Air Date: 11-02-1995 Episode 117 (The Secret Code) Air Date: 11-09-1995 Episode 118 (The Pool Guy) Air Date: 11-16-1995 Episode 119 (The Sponge) Air Date: 12-07-1995 Episode 120 (The Gum) Air Date: 12-14-1995 Episode 121 (The Rye) Air Date: 01-04-1996 Episode 122 (The Caddy) Air Date: 01-25-1996 Episode 123 (The Seven) Air Date: 02-01-1996 Episode 124 (The Cadillac: Part 1) Air Date: 02-08-1996 Episode 125 (The Cadillac: Part 2) Air Date: 02-08-1996 Episode 126 (The Shower Head) Air Date: 02-15-1996 Episode 127 (The Doll) Air Date: 02-22-1996 Episode 128 (The Friars Club) Air Date: 03-07-1996 Episode 129 (The Wig Master) Air Date: 04-04-1996 Episode 130 (The Calzone) Air Date: 04-25-1996 Episode 131 (The Bottle Deposit: Part 1) Air Date: 05-02-1996 Episode 132 (The Bottle Deposit: Part 2) Air Date: 05-02-1996 Episode 133 (The Wait Out) Air Date: 05-09-1996 Episode 134 (The Invitations) Air Date: 05-16-1996 <bio>Britt Gillette is author of The DVD Report (http://thedvdreport.blogspot.com), a blog where you can find more reviews like this one. </bio>

How often do you think of the inventor of that gorgeous piece of furniture you just saw when you walked down the street? Are they just people who cut a few pieces of wood, got some sheets of metal and juxtaposed them in a fairly nice way?

Some people to whom furniture was more than just that made history. What's more, some of them were architects of not just their sofas and tables but also of American modernism. He perpetuated a philosophy that reinforced human creativity and was the modernist who epitomises this creativity in his designs and looks at furniture in a way that only he can visualize.

He was born in Hartford in Connecticut. He showed all signs of brilliance as he grew up. College at Yale, degree in Fine Arts, work at pencil Points, and the Rome prize for Architecture --just another feather in the cap for him. After winning this, as reward he got to stay in a palace in Rome, study architecture in the amazing city of boundless beauty and meet some of the greatest minds of modernist art like Gio Ponti, Walter Gropius and Le Corbusier. He interviewed them all for Pencil Points. His writings talked about a lot of concepts. He later co-wrote a book called "Tomorrow's House" with Henry Wright (the man who made The Bungalow in Chicago). In his book, he introduced the revolutionary ideas of the family room and the storage wall. This made for interesting observation to Herman Miller who was introduced to Nelson by his brother Howard Miller.

The rest is history. Miller was interested in Nelson's futuristic visions for furniture and gave him a chance even though he had never actually designed anything previously. And George Nelson, being George Nelson, did not disappoint. Working together with other notable designers like Charles and Ray Eames, Irving Harper, Robert Schultz and David Knorr, he came up with some of the most frequently sought after pieces of furniture currently.

In 1955 he started his own firm --George Nelson Associates. The famous Nelson artworks today include The Coconut Chair, The Marshmallow Sofa, The Ball Clock and the Nelson Platform bench. Some of the top notch people who worked with him were Irving Harper, John Pile and later, Ettore Scotsass. What happens to a company with that amount of genius is anybody's guess. There were negative criticisms as well of his work as he was a staunch modernist. He often blamed his colleagues for not standing by their principles of thought and design likings and going by what would commercially benefit them.

What Nelson is best known for is furniture but what made him an industry wizard is his yearning for the betterment of the world through his designs. An urge to preserve the rules of nature while still being modern was inherent in him. That is why his designs be it the marshmallow sofas or the sunflower clock --are not mere pieces of art. They are marvels born out of the human mind. In what we saw a lifeless pane of metal, Nelson saw the possibility of making it come alive.<bio>Take a look at furniture designers.
The preeminent show of the 1990's decade, Seinfeld grew from an idea of "a show about nothing" into a sacred pop culture icon - not that there's anything wrong with that... The show follows the life of comedian Jerry Seinfeld and the exploits of his "short, quirky, bald guy" best friend, George Costanza (Jason Alexander), Jerry's neurotic neighbor Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), and Jerry's ex-girlfriend Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Through the years, they're joined by a loveable cast of characters that includes Newman, Uncle Leo, the Soup Nazi, Frank and Estelle Costanza, the Bubble Boy, and countless others...

The Seinfeld DVD (Seasons 1 and 2) offers the very first glimpse into the world Jerry, beginning with The Pilot (episode 1) which was originally titled The Seinfeld Chronicles. The first scene involves Jerry commenting to George about a button on his shirt (the same conversation later takes place in the last scene of the series finale). These opening episodes provide insight into the development of the show's four primary characters with conversations that range from George's initial admission that he'd like to be an architect (episode 2) to Kramer's propensity for get rich quick schemes like a make-your-own-pizza pizzeria (episode 4). From day one, Seinfeld established itself as "must see TV," creating such memorable episodes as "The Stock Tip," "The Pony Remark," "The Deal," and "The Chinese Restaurant".

Interestingly, in the pilot episode of Seinfeld, Elaine's character does not yet exist, and Kramer's character (not yet named Kramer, but Feldman) is more of an unemployed, pathetic, shut-in neighbor than the usual quirky and energetic Cosmo. Playing the role of the female in George and Jerry's life is a wisecracking waitress named Claire (Lee Garlington) who never appears in later episodes.

Nevertheless, this initial episode exhibits the flashes of brilliance that made Seinfeld a cultural phenomenon. The show is essentially about nothing. George and Jerry do some laundry... Jerry and his neighbor watch some TV... George and Jerry have some coffee... During that time, the dominant topic of conversation is a girl that Jerry met while taking his comedy act on the road. She's coming to stay at his place, but he doesn't know whether he should pull out a mattress for her or not. Feldman (Kramer), George, and Jerry debate the topic endlessly until the woman arrives and Jerry learns that it's all irrelevant because she's engaged...

Below is a list of episodes included on the Seinfeld (Seasons 1 and 2) DVD:

Episode 1 (Pilot: Good News, Bad News) Air Date: 07-05-1989 Episode 2 (The Stakeout) Air Date: 05-31-1990 Episode 3 (The Robbery) Air Date: 06-07-1990 Episode 4 (Male Unbonding) Air Date: 06-14-1990 Episode 5 (The Stock Tip) Air Date: 06-21-1990 Episode 6 (The Ex-Girlfriend) Air Date: 01-23-1991 Episode 7 (The Pony Remark) Air Date: 01-30-1991 Episode 8 (The Jacket) Air Date: 02-06-1991 Episode 9 (The Phone Message) Air Date: 02-13-1991 Episode 10 (The Apartment) Air Date: 04-04-1991 Episode 11 (The Statue) Air Date: 04-11-1991 Episode 12 (The Revenge) Air Date: 04-18-1991 Episode 13 (The Heart Attack) Air Date: 04-25-1991 Episode 14 (The Deal) Air Date: 05-02-1991 Episode 15 (The Baby Shower) Air Date: 05-16-1991 Episode 16 (The Chinese Restaurant) Air Date: 05-23-1991 Episode 17 (The Busboy) Air Date: 06-26-1991 About The Author: Britt Gillette is author of The DVD Report (http://thedvdreport.blogspot.com), a blog where you can find more reviews like this one.

If you like martinis then read on and learn about both the history of the martini and about a tasty, cool cocktail called the Lemon Drop Martini.

History of the Martini

The martini is a cocktail made with gin or vodka and dry white vermouth, and is considered by many to be among the top six variations of a cocktail type drink.

It is believed that the martini originated in Martinez, which is the town where I grew up. Martinez is located on the south side of the Carquinez Strait in the San Francisco Bay Area, facing the city of Benicia. It's the birthplace of New York Yankee baseball star Joe DiMaggio, and was the childhood home of Norv Turner, head coach of the Washington Redskins football team.

If you go to the corner of the intersection of Alhambra Avenue and Masonic Street, you will find a plaque commemorating the birth of the martini. The first known reference to the martini being invented in Martinez can be found in The Bon Vivant's Companion: Or How to Mix Drinks (1887 edition), by "Professor" Jerry Thomas, a head bartender who worked in many well know places, including the Occidental Hotel in San Francisco, California. According to George A. Zabriske, who republished the original book in 1928, Jerry Thomas had a client who took a ferry from the Occidental Hotel to Martinez, each morning. Thomas mixed him a "Martinez" to keep the morning chill off, and named the drink after his client's destination.

The Lemon Drop Martini

One of my favorite versions of the martini is the Lemon Drop Martini. This drink is a sweet, lemony drink that became popular during the 1970's in California. Remember the lemon drop candies you used to get at the movies when you were a kid? This drink has become a favorite on the West Coast. One account suggests that this drink originated in a bar called Henry's Africa in San Francisco. This was a well-known singles bar and was said to develop and push "girl-drinks". These are drinks that are made very sweet to cover the taste of alcohol.

Lemon Drop Martini Recipe

The Lemon Drop Martini has become a favorite of my guests. Here is the recipe:

1 1/2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce Triple Sec
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed or bottled lemon juice
Ice cubes
Lemon Wedge or Twist

To prepare glass, put it into the freezer until it is frosty cold. Then rub the rim of the glass with lemon and dip the glass in super fine sugar to create an edge of sugar on the glass.

Mix the vodka, Triple Sec, sugar, and lemon juice in a shaker half-filled with ice; shake well until well blended. Pour strained liquid into sugar-rimmed martini glass and garnish with lemon.

Then enjoy! Remember to be careful drinking these. They really are sweet, but potent! And remember, the next time you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, stop by a little town called Martinez and see where the martini was born.<bio>For cocktail party tips and more, visit http://www.cocktailsandbeerandwine.com/ and plan your next cocktail party today!</bio>

Yes, there is such a thing as indoor barbecuing. But hey, indoor barbecuing doesn't mean using your ever-reliable wood or gas grill. First of all, that's illegal in most places because it's a major fire hazard. Second, it could kill you since these types of grills produce large amounts of carbon monoxide. What you need to know is that there are two basic types of indoor grills -- the open grill and the folding contact grill.

Indoor Barbecuing 101

An open grill is pretty much like the electric version of the wood/gas grill. It provides you with the outdoor barbecuing feel as you occasionally turn the meat while cooking and even produces flavor closer to the outdoor variety. . On the other hand, the folding contact grill works much like a panini press or sandwich maker. (Such as the George Foreman Grill). The upside to using this kind of indoor barbecuing grill is that is cooks your food faster as it simultaneously cooks both sides. Thus, it doesn't require turning so you can do other things while grilling at the same time.

The George Foreman Grill is an electric grill which has non-stick grill surface, grooved to give those desirable "grill marks" on food and a cover which has the same type of grooved surface.

Food is placed on the grill and the cover is closed on top of it, enabling the grilling of food from both sides at once -- cutting the normal grilling time in half. The grill is built with a "tilt" toward the front and a plastic dish is place under the front end so that fat can draw off away from the food. This is considered a low-fat feature. It also helps with the ease of cleaning in which George markets as one of the most important features of the grill.

The George Foreman also cooks food more evenly because the surface maintains a constant temperature that's easy to control, so you won't get hot spots or flare-ups. You should never use an extension cord with any electric grill, and always use an outlet with a ground fault circuit interrupter.

The George Foreman Grill currently comes in nine versions and prices range from $19.99 to $99.99

However, as we always say, equipment is just one aspect of producing amazing barbecue dishes. Though it's true that using an indoor barbecuing grill means none of that smoky flavor, which only wood or coal can deliver, there's definitely more to barbecue taste than smoky flavor. There are a variety of rich, bold flavors that characterize a good barbecue dish and these you can definitely get from a good marinade, dry rub or barbecue sauce.
Yesterday, I watched in disbelief George W. Bush's convoluted speech to the House of Representatives. It was rather telling that this speech wasn't in primetime but rather at 9 a.m. (6 a.m. in the West). I know a lot about politics since I write political thrillers (www.thetwentyfirstcentury.com) and I am constantly doing research for my books and articles. But it doesn't take a writer of politics, or even one who doesn't follow politics, to realize that what George Bush said yesterday made absolutely no sense. With all the (major) problems he and the Republican party are in, it is no wonder he has suddenly chosen to speak (or deceive) the American people about America's economics: November is coming.

In essence, Bush said that the state of our economy is in good shape and is getting stronger everyday. Am I crazy, or has George Bush tripled the deficit since he took office (and doubled his salary immediately after being sworn in)?

We now, for the first time in history, owe more to foreign countries than they owe us (weakening our position as the world's super power and endangering our defenses).

The Iraqi War is going to cost close to a trillion dollars by the time it ends and we rebuild what we destroyed over there, destroying our economy over here.

There is still the rebuilding of New Orleans and other cities, not to mention what disasters are coming in the probable near future.

How about the billions of dollars a day in interest our country is accruing?

Bush wants to spend a fortune guarding our borders, not from terrorists, but from poor Mexican families who have no jobs and need to feed their families. The terrorists are coming in from Canada and other cities, not from Mexico.

Interest rates rise every month, forcing Americans to pay more on their credit cards and their mortgages and their college loans, etc. Because of that, housing prices have begun to decrease because people can't afford a home AND a huge interest rate, besides rising property taxes each year, to pay for it. Isn't this raising taxes by a different name.

George Bush still believes, and plans to continue the ridiculous tax rebate (millions to the rich, a pittance to the poor).

The price of buying gas is increasing the cost of everything we buy, although the oil companies are enjoying tremendous profits (Exxon/Mobil earned $340 BILLION last year). This residual effect has raised the prices on food, medication, clothes, everything. And it is not going to end, as I watch my gas station raise their prices almost everyday. How much poorer can we get?

The American people have less and less and George Bush says the state of our economy is good and is growing. It sure seems to me and most Americans that it's our personal debt that is growing. How many people are better off today than they were five years ago? Not me, or anyone I know.

It's all smoke and mirrors. <bio>Bruce Schwartz is author of the bestselling novel, THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY, the story of a nationwide terrorist attack that ignites a race war seven days before the presidential election. His site http://www.thetwentyfirstcentury.com is offering a 3-day, 2-night vacation to one of 90 destinations for buying a copy of this timely novel. "A chilling look at something ripped from today's headlines. An entertaining and troubling read." USA Radio Network </bio>
