Even if you are new to scrapbooking, you have probably seen the trend towards digital scrapbooking. Scrapbooking has been a popular hobby for hundreds of years. While it has continued to change over the years, the most significant change is the addition of technology to scrapbooking. Digital scrapbooking blends technology with the creativity of scrapbooking.

The first thing you need to think about when it comes to traditional vs. digital scrapbooking is which method interests you the most. While both have their advantages and disadvantages, initially choose the one that seems the most appealing to you. After all, in the battle between traditional vs. digital scrapbooking, you certainly have to choose the method that is going to result in a fun scrapbooking experience for you!

If you are having trouble choosing between traditional and digital scrapbooking, consider evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of each option. Start with traditional scrapbooking methods. The most obvious advantage with the traditional scrapbooking method is that it is more personalized, because you have to cut out, paste, and write all of the information in the scrapbook yourself. Traditional scrapbooking is definitely more tactile and hands on than digital scrapbooking.

When it comes to the weaknesses that traditional scrapbooking might have, there are two main ones. First of all, in order to properly do your scrapbooking, you will need a significant amount of workspace to spread out all of your materials. Also, materials such as glitter and glue can make traditional scrapbooking rather messy.

Digital scrapbooking is, of course, a newer form of scrapbooking. The advantages that this form of scrapbooking has are mainly in terms of all the unique things that you can do with images and designs. When it comes to the disadvantages, there is one main one, and that is purchasing the right digital equipment. You will need a digital camera, digital scrapbooking software, and a digital photo printer that will meet your scrapbooking needs.

In the debate between traditional vs. digital scrapbooking, there are many pros and cons. If you are still having trouble deciding, you can always try both of them. In fact, there is a trend towards digi-fusion which is using both traditional and digital elements in your scrapbooking!

If you would like more information on traditional vs. digital scrapbooking, you can find lots of resources in the various scrapbooking magazines that can be found at your local bookstore. There is even a new scrapbooking magazine specifically for digital scrapbooking. You can also check out the many scrapbooking websites that are available on the internet. Researching the advantages and disadvantages of traditional vs. digital scrapbooking will help you choose which option is best for your scrapbooking style. <bio>Christine Perry is an avid scrapbooker and has over 10 years of scrapbooking experience.
You love scrapbooking, but you do not like having to clean up the mess that is made during the process. Often tired after scrapbooking, you just shove all of your supplies in a drawer or box. However, this only makes the problem worse, because the next time you scrapbook you often have to sort through everything to find what you need. You need some advice about organizing scrapbooking supplies.

How to Begin Organizing Scrapbooking Supplies

The first step towards organizing your scrapbooking supplies is to spread all of the scrapbooking materials out on your scrapbooking table and sort them into piles. For example, you might have a group for embellishments, another group for pens, another group for paper, and another group for ribbons.

Once you have sorted your scrapbooking materials into groups, the next step in organizing your scrapbooking supplies is to find something to put them in, like storage containers and boxes. Now, this all has to do with the amount of scrapbooking materials you already have. For example, if you are an avid scrapbooker and have a significant amount of scrapbooking supplies, you should get a large plastic shelving unit with several shelves. This can be easily purchased for a reasonable price at your local department store. You might even consider a scrapbooking armoire that is specifically made for storing scrapbooking materials.

Another option when it comes to organizing your scrapbooking supplies is for you to get separate bins for each group of materials, and place them in a stacking fashion in the corner of whatever room you have designated specifically for crafts. However, if you do not have such a room in your home, you can purchase bins that also look very much like furniture.

The key to organizing your scrapbooking supplies is making sure your supplies are easy to find when it comes time to work on a scrapbooking project. Also, it is important to put everything away neatly. For example, if you like using ribbons in your scrapbooking projects, you should make sure they do not just all get thrown in together, because that can result in them becoming tangled.

It is also important to remember that you can buy as many organizing tools as you want, but it really all comes down to how organized you are as a person. In fact, if money is no object, it is a good idea to hire a professional organizer to organize everything for you!

If you would like more information on how to organize your scrapbook supplies, search the internet, especially on forums where people who share your love of scrapbooking share advice on how to keep everything organized. There are even entire books on organizing scrapbooking materials. Check your local scrapbooking store for these books and scrapbooking magazines with articles on storage and organization. <bio>Christine Perry is an avid scrapbooker and has over 10 years of scrapbooking experience.
You already know all the reasons why scrapbooking is your favorite hobby and the benefits it brings to your family. So why not share that hobby with your children as well? Scrapbooking for children can be just as fun and meaningful as it is for adults. There are many reasons to start scrapbooking with your kids. Here are just a few reasons you should start enjoying scrapbooking with your kids today.

1. The primary reason most people scrapbook is to preserve their family memories and photographs. Scrapbooking for children is a perfect time to reminisce about favorite family memories. While you create page layouts, you can relive your vacation to Disney World or the last time grandparents came to visit.

2. Scrapbooking family photographs opens up discussion about family history. It's a time to talk about your ancestors and how they lived. So much subtle education can come from those discussions. It's a great opportunity to talk about family and friends that live far away as well.

3. Scrapbooking for kids can be a creative outlet the same as it is for you. Providing your children with the materials and letting them enjoy the creative process helps foster their imagination and artistic expression. Scrapbooking for children should not be about the final product or page layout. It should always be about experiencing the process, interacting with the materials and fostering their creativity.

4. Scrapbooking for children is a chance for quality family time. Whether you are scrapbooking with a child one on one or with a few children, you have the opportunity to really listen to them. Have them talk about the pages they are designing, and ask them what they remember about the photographs in the page layout. You may even be surprised at some of their answers.

5. Scrapbooking page layouts can also be educational. Through scrapbooking, you can teach older children about color theory, design principles and even basic photography techniques.

6. As your children are creating scrapbooking pages, they are expressing and documenting their thoughts and feelings in their own words. They also are preserving their handwriting as they journal on their pages. Scrapbooking pages created by your children reflect their unique perspective and memories of family events.

7. Spending time with your children and scrapbooking is a chance to express family values. Just looking through your photographs tells a lot about what your family values are. Take the time to discuss them with your children. Family time, friendships, and holiday celebrations all say something about what we value most in our lives.

8. While you share scrapbooking time with your kids, you may just be training the next photographer or historian in your family. One of your children may catch the scrapbooking bug just like you have.

Scrapbooking for kids provides endless opportunities to spend time with your children and have fun together as a family. It can be educational as well as a creative outlet for both of you. Round up your children and gather some photographs and scrapbooking supplies. Enjoy scrapbooking with your kids today.<bio>Christine Perry is an avid scrapbooker and has over 10 years of scrapbooking experience. Her favorite scrapbooking subjects are her reluctant teenagers.
Scrapbooking pages call for imagination and creativity. Sometimes, though, you feel as though you've run out of ideas. You have used your last idea and you wish there were a regular source =96 a "service station" where you could get a refill on ideas. You may want digital ideas, printable ideas, or layouts for a conventional scrapbooking page.

Weekly scrapbooking page ideas would be nice, wouldn't they? There are scrapbooking "service stations" that offer weekly scrapbooking page ideas. There are also ways to find weekly scrapbooking page ideas without those sites.

Websites Offer Weekly Scrapbooking Page Ideas

You can find weekly scrapbooking page ideas on the Internet. You won't always find them by typing that phrase into a search engine, though. You may need to be creative. Here are two places we found weekly scrapbooking page ideas.

* The better scrapbooking supplies websites offer weekly scrapbooking page ideas on their site. They have a page or two that change each week, showing a new layout or other scrapbooking page idea.

* Some scrapbooking sites offer a FREE newsletter with weekly scrapbooking page ideas. All they require is a name and valid e-mail address. As a bonus, they may even offer FREE scrapbooking supplies to newsletter subscribers.

Gleaning Weekly Scrapbooking Page Ideas

Another way to find weekly scrapbooking page ideas is to establish your own weekly route of "service stations" to fill up on ideas. Visit the same scrapbooking stations once a week, and see what is new. Often a new kit or other element will give you an idea. The website station may not be offering it as a scrapbooking page idea, but when you see it, you glean ideas from it. Let's look at how this can be done. Follow these 7 steps.

1. If you haven't yet learned to add "bookmarks" in your Internet browser, do it now. Go to your browser's "Help" button on the menu at the top of the page. Learn to add new folders, and to add new bookmarks to those folders.

2. Add a new folder in your bookmarks. Name it "IDEAS" or "STATIONS" or some other appropriate word.

3. Establish your route of service stations by setting aside time to locate the scrapbooking page sites you like. You can choose from hundreds. Look for sites that offer free ideas, weekly or not. Most like to add new materials to keep customers coming back. Keep your eyes open for kits, layout ideas in kits, and titles. All of these can spark ideas.

4. Be sure you include sites that offer samples of scrapbooking pages done by other scrapbookers. "Gallery" is a great sign!

5. One-by-one, bookmark the scrapbooking page sites you like. Add each bookmark to the new folder you created.

6. When you have visited, and bookmarked every scrapbooking page site you like, you will have your weekly scrapbooking page ideas route. These are your "service stations" where you can fill up your tank of ideas.

7. Now, you can routinely visit every site on your route on a weekly basis, gleaning scrapbooking page ideas. Whether your scrapbook is conventional or digital, you will find many ideas simply by seeing what is added to the different websites.

Local Weekly Scrapbooking Page Ideas

No matter where you live, there are local weekly scrapbooking page ideas, free for the taking. All you have to do is go for a walk, jog, ride a bicycle, or visit your local mall. Focus on what's happening around you. Open your eyes to the scenes and activity you've been missing.

If you visit a local park, and watch children, you may suddenly see a scene that is a perfect scrapbooking page idea. It reminded you of something your own children did, or an occasion when your family was in a park.

When you're sitting in the mall, observing people, you see a couple stop for a snack. Something about the way he treats her reminds you of your own courtship, and you jot down a new scrapbooking page idea.

As you jog or ride your bicycle along a path you've often taken, you focus on things that had become commonplace. You see that path as it used to look when you pushed your baby stroller there. A new scrapbooking page idea.

You see someone delivering newspapers, and you get an idea for your scrapbooking page about your first job =96 found in a classified ad.

Helpful Tip

Weekly scrapbooking page ideas are all around us, waiting for free pickup. If you establish a time for collecting them, you will soon have all you can use. <bio>=A92007, Anna Hart.
If you are a Scrapbooking addict then you already know how fun Scrapbooking can be. But did you realize that Scrapbooking has also become one of the hottest home businesses today? A full 14% of scrappers today are involved in the business of Scrapbooking. Here are some tips to help you get started on Scrapbooking for profit.

When it comes to finding clients to work with in your new scrapbooking business, start with your family and your friends.

This is a great way to help you to get some beautiful scrapbooks to showcase to your future clients. And, of course, one of the most powerful (and profitable) forms of advertising in any business is that of word of mouth.

Just imagine: You do a gorgeous and unique scrapbook for your friend and she takes it to show off to her other friends and family. They, of course, just have to know who created it and soon you have a few new customers. Do a great scrapbook for them and then they will do the same thing and, well, you can see how your scrapbooking business can grow and become very profitable.

There are many moms, college students, busy brides and others that would love to create scrapbooks for themselves or as gifts for their family and friends. But they just do not have the time or maybe they do not have the creative skills for it. These are just a few of the many opportunities for someone that has the talent to create scrapbooks for profit.

Try promoting your new scrapbooking business in your local school or church newsletters.

And don't forget that you can also advertise for your scrapbook business here on the internet.

Of course, there are the always popular craft fairs to attend. With so many potential customers coming by to view your work, there is a huge possibility here to make some real scrapbooking profit.

Scrapbooking for profit can be a lot of fun but don't forget to treat it as a business. Keep organized in supplies, files and forms. And remember to provide excellent customer service to your scrapbooking clients. They will expect that you are going to provide them with an excellent finished product (based on your past work) in a timely manner. Treating your beloved scrapbooking hobby as the business it is will help to insure a loyal following of customers and referrals for many years to come.

Scrapbooking is an extremely popular and fast growing craft. If you have the time, love and the talent for creating stunning scrapbooks then you have what you need to make a profit with scrapbooking. <bio>If you've considered turning your favorite hobby into a part or full-time business visit us at: http://www.scrapbooking-for-fun-and-profit.com/How_to_Make_Scrapbooks_for_Profit.html in print and audio versions) for creative ideas to get you started. </bio>

Do you love the thought of scrapbooking for kids but don't know how to get started? Many scrapbookers would love to scrapbook with their kids but are not sure what supplies to offer or how to keep things from getting disorganized or too messy. Do you just open your scrapbooking stash to your kids and let them choose what they want to use or should there be rules to scrapbooking for kids? Here are some top tips for scrapbooking with children.

1. Keep scrapbooking for kids fun and relaxed. Let go of the idea that all pages need to be perfect. For children, it's all about the process and working with the materials, not the product or end result.

2. Designate certain materials for your kids to use when scrapbooking. Scrapbook supplies are expensive, and you may have embellishments or paper you purchased just for a specific album, like Disney World stickers for last summer's vacation pictures. Don't just let your children have complete access to your supplies. Assemble the papers and materials you would like them to use, and keep them separate from your supplies.

3. Scrapbooking for children should be age appropriate. This applies specifically to scrapbooking tools. Your child may be old enough to use scissors, but some of the specially-designed cutting systems for scrapbooking can be too dangerous for young children. Look over your tools carefully, and consider whether or not your children are old enough to use these tools according the manufacturer's instructions. Carefully explain the safety precautions. For example, when using an eyelet setter, always use a mat under the paper to protect your work surface.

4. Have photos that interest your children available for scrapbooking. Scrapbooking for kids is more fun when they are working with photos that include them. Does your daughter love stuffed animals? Let her do a whole album with pictures of her stuffed animal collection.

5. Use duplicate photos when scrapbooking for children. Then, let them use the photograph any way they wish. You still have an original for your scrapbooks.

6. Scrapbooking for children should always include journaling. Have your children use their own handwriting. They should sign and date the page as well. The photographs on the page may be from a different time period, but by signing and dating the page you can later see how old they were when they designed the page. You may need to give your children journaling prompts, but for most children, let them express their own thoughts and feelings on the page layout.

7. Keep scrapbooking supplies for children organized. Store supplies for scrapbooking with your kids in separate bins and encourage your children to keep them organized and sorted for their next scrapbook project.

8. Teach your children scrapbooking techniques. Again, consider the ages and artistic abilities of your kids. Simple scrapbooking techniques like paper tearing and matting are easy for most children to learn. Older children might enjoy rubber stamping or embossing on their page layouts.

Scrapbooking for kids is a fun and exciting hobby for families.
What is scrapbooking?

It is a hobby: a personalized compilation of photos, newspaper clippings, magazine articles and other important memorabilia which is pasted in a scrapbook and decorated with accessories such as ribbons, fancy lettering, stickers, die cuts and trinkets.

Scrapbooking is a unique way of preserving memories by decorating the page with accessories by theme depending on the event.

* How do you get started scrapbooking?

Here are a few simple steps to help you get started with scrapbooking:

First, gather up your photos and try to organize them. This part may be the most time-consuming of all, so in order to save time try organizing for one book at a time. For example, if you are preparing for a baby scrapbook, then just find and organize baby photos that you like. Choose only the cutest and most memorable pictures, and then put them in chronological order.

The next step is laying out the pages. It is important to lay out everything before starting to make it permanent or before actually gluing anything into place.

If you think you aren't creative enough, there are lots of layout ideas available on the internet. Everyone has own sense of style and creativity, so all you have to do is start working on it.

* Are there different kinds of scrapbooking?

Yes, there are different types of scrapbooks and they are categorized according into themes. Examples are: a baby scrapbook, a marriage scrapbook, a Christmas scrapbook, or a vacation scrapbook. There are also digital scrapbooks and paper ones.

* What is digital scrapbooking?

Digital scrapbooking is done on the computer. It allows you to make great scrapbooks of any complexity from photos of any quality with a speedy processing.

Many people think it is difficult to master digital scrapbooking, and this is partly true, so if you really want to learn the techniques, allow a couple of days for reading manuals, understanding common graphic software, and doing some exercises on the computer before you actually start doing your own scrapbook.

* What do people do with digital scrapbook pages?

People can now have the ease of adjusting their layouts without spending too much on materials. They can edit them any way they want because there are so many varieties of software available for digital scrapbooking.

People can send a digital scrapbook page directly to their friends and family members by email. They can also have it printed and save it as a keepsake. <bio>Maryellen Sharp is editor of http://www.My-Scrapbooking.com, the online guide to Scrapbooking.
When it comes to <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/scrapbooking" rel="tag">scrapbooking, this craft takes more than just the plan to make it happen. Scrapbooking is fun and it yields a beautiful, one of a kind design that only you can make. What's more is that ten years from now, twenty years from now, you will be able to look back at your scrapbook and know just how you felt when you made it. To make this happen, you do have to have a few tips. While everyone has good intentions when it comes to scrapbooking, to be successful at this craft will take a bit of work.

To help you, here are three tips that will allow you to be successful.

1.Be organized. You have heard it before, but it so true. If you have ten minutes today before the kids come home you could sit down at the television. Or, you could sit down at your organized scrapbooking station and get a page finished. To do this, give yourself the tools to make it work. That means having papers in one location, scissors in another and so on. Use a desk top organizing drawer set (very inexpensive) and create a small area where everything you need is.

2.Keep your mind open to new ideas. Did you know that people are always creating new and fun things for your scrapbook? They are and if you are stuck in a rut, one of the best things that you can do is to find a new product to use. Of course, you can also come up with your own new ideas too. Find a strange item and see what you can do with it. Challenge yourself with that old piece of fabric or that unique drawing your son made.

3.Keep resources in hand. Sometimes, the ideas just won't flow right. That is when it is time to count on your resources. There are countless books about the craft. There are hundreds of websites dedicated to the craft of scrapbooking. Start a club for all of the Mom's in your son's school that want to do this. Keeping a variety of resources available to you will allow you to find true success.

Scrapbooking is a craft that takes a bit of talent but a lot of love. When you keep yourself motivated and with the right set up, you will be very successful at making some of the world's best scrapbooks out there. <bio>Michael Lewis is an editor at http://www.collectiblehobbies.com where you can find more articles about scrapbooking and crafts. </bio>

We all want to be passionate about our careers, and turning an enjoyable hobby into a career is one way to accomplish that. As a scrapbooker, you may have already considered becoming an independent scrapbooking consultant or opening your own scrapbooking store, but here are a few more ideas to start a scrapbooking business.

Scrapbooking Teacher

Do you love teaching other scrapbookers the latest techniques and how to use the newest tools? You might be the one everyone asks for help at the Friday night crops you attend. Becoming a scrapbooking teacher might be the perfect career for you. Scrapbooking teachers need to have some talent in scrapbooking, but they must have the skills to explain and demonstrate how to scrapbook. To succeed as a scrapbooking teacher, you need excellent communication skills and the ability to talk in front of others confidently.

Check your local scrapbooking store for teaching positions. You can also become an independent scrapbook teacher as well. Adult continuing education classes are often looking for new ideas for classes to offer. Finally, you could open up your home to your friends and neighbors and offer a scrapbooking class. You can charge a fee for the class, or order the supplies for the project wholesale and profit from the retail price.

Scrapbooking Writer

Do you love to browse the internet for scrapbooking articles? Someone has to write those articles. If you have a way with words, writing articles on your hobby might be an excellent way to freelance your talent. The internet has a variety of ways to sell your writing. Website owners are always looking for new content, and you can even market your own ebook. Don't forget the print industry. Sell your scrapbooking writing to magazines and book publishers.

To get started, look to see what kind of scrapbooking information people are looking to read. What are they searching for online? Visit scrapbooking forums and find out what questions are asked the most often. These are problems that scrapbookers want to solve. Start writing articles or a book around these topics. Market the information to scrapbooking websites, ezine or newsletter publishers, or even online scrapbooking stores that may want to offer some information along with their products.

Scrapbooking Event Planner

Have you ever attended a scrapbooking expo or retreat? Someone has to coordinate these events. It takes not only knowing what scrapbookers want from these meetings, but also strong organizational skills to plan and schedule all the details.

You can develop a business as a scrapbooking event planner, or you can work for a company that plans these events or for a scrapbooking retreat. You could even start your own company planning retreats, getaway weekends, expos and vacations for scrapbookers. You can make money by charging for the events, as well as selling space to scrapbooking vendors to market supplies and products to the attendees.

Any of these ideas will turn your scrapbooking skills into a profitable business. As a scrapbooking writer, teacher or event planner, you become an expert in this field. Sharing your talent and experiences with other scrapbookers can be an enjoyable and exciting business model.<bio>How can you impress your friends with your page layouts?
Western scrapbooking pages, free of charge, can be found on the Internet and in scrapbooking magazines. Scrapbooking is one of those hobbies in which people enjoy sharing pages they have created. Whether novice or professional, they want to help others have similar happy experiences.

Sources of Western Scrapbooking Pages

Western scrapbooking pages, free for copying, appear in many places on the Internet. You might want to try these options.

1. Galleries: Scrapbooking galleries are probably one of the best places to find western scrapbooking pages free. These galleries feature photos of successful scrapbooking pages, free for you to borrow from their creators. Scrapbook has nearly 350,000 images in their gallery, including both layouts and digital layouts of scrapbooking pages. A search there on the word "western" produced 214 western scrapbooking pages at the time this article was written. A mouse click at this gallery enlarges any photo so you can easily see the elements.

2. Forums and Chat Rooms: You may also find western scrapbooking pages free in forums and chat rooms. Sometimes, if you are cooperative, a forum member may even volunteer to create a western scrapbooking page free to meet your specific needs. Forum members are often scrapbooking "addicts" who love to share their talents.

3. Scrapbooking Kits: Online retailers who sell scrapbooking kits often feature 2 or 3 kits, showing large pictures of scrapbooking pages within the kits. The pages are copyrighted, but the ideas can be adapted. Digital scrapbooking kits are sometimes free for the taking as an introduction to a site's digital elements. You may find just the western scrapbooking pages you want on a kit site.

4. Scrapbooking Stamp Retailers: Online retailers of stamps often show scrapbooking pages to illustrate what their stamps will add to a layout. We found lovely western scrapbooking pages free at one of these sites.

5. Scrapbooking Supplies Retailers: Internet retailers who sell an array of scrapbooking supplies follow the same practice: placing photos of samples to spark ideas, or giving 2 or 3 scrapbooking pages free as an introductory offer. Browse these retailers' sites and you will come away with many ideas for western scrapbooking pages.

Do-It-Yourself Digital Western Scrapbooking Pages

Digital western scrapbooking pages can be created at your computer if you are handy with a computer graphics program. We use Adobe PhotoShop.

Begin by creating scrapbooking paper. Make your paper 12" x 12" for now. It can be reduced later if necessary. Create digital scrapbooking paper in several themes for your scrapbooking pages. These three ideas will get you started.

1. Western Riding Scrapbooking Pages

Make the paper background medium to light brown with a sandy texture.

Place a clear layer in front of the brown, and add words to it such as "Western" or "cowboy" to carry the theme. You won't need many words. Vary the font for interest. This layer is optional on your scrapbooking page.

Find 1 or 2 clipart or photo images of cowboy hats. Then find a cowboy boot, saddle, and spurs. Add a rope if you wish. Once you have the graphics, create a pattern on your brown paper, repeating it at pleasing intervals.

2. Horseshoe Scrapbooking Pages

Make the paper background light brown, and then render clouds with light brown and ivory.

Find a clipart image of a steel gray horseshoe. Create a pattern over the clouds, repeating the horseshoe at intervals until the paper is covered.

3. Man and Beast Shoes Scrapbooking Pages

Begin by creating horseshoe scrapbooking paper. Add small clipart images of cowboy boots at wide intervals over top of the horseshoes. It's good to have 3 different pairs of cowboy boots for interest.

Completing Western Scrapbooking Pages

Once your scrapbooking paper is ready, you can make digital western scrapbooking pages on it. Place cropped, scanned photos on each page. Overlap photos, with a piece of journaling placed to one side. Add a page title in bold, western font. Half a dozen wild mustangs in ivory or off-white might be placed at a page bottom, as though dashing in from one side. Add digital stickers to your scrapbooking pages and move to the next.

Tip: Western scrapbooking pages look best when "busy" cowboy paper is used intermittently with plain, more colorful backgrounds. <bio>=A92007, Anna Hart.
Love the look of eyelets on scrapbooking pages, but not sure how to attach them without ripping or tearing your page layout? Attaching an eyelet to a scrapbooking page isn't difficult if you follow certain precautions to not only protect your page but also your work space and table. Once you master using eyelets in your scrapbooks, you'll be surprised at how many ways you can use them to highlight and enhance your layouts.

Eyelet Scrapbooking Tools

Before you get started you will need to assemble a few tools for attaching eyelets. First, you need a small hammer. You can find small ones made especially for scrapbooking at your local craft store.

You also will need an eyelet setter. Scrapbooking manufacturers now make a variety of eyelet setters. The best way to choose one is to watch what others are using at your next scrapbooking crop. Make sure the setter is the appropriate size for your eyelets. Eyelets come in 3 different sizes.

Make sure your setter can accommodate the size you have chosen for your page.

An anywhere hole punch is another essential tool for attaching eyelets. This is different than the hole punches you may have used in school or in an office. An anywhere punch is not limited to punching holes only in the sides of a paper. It allows you to place a hole anywhere on the page.

To protect your work surface, you need a self-healing cutting mat. When you are pounding the eyelet into the page, you can easily damage wood, laminate and glass tables if you don't have a hard surface that can withstand dents between the paper and your table.

You could choose to purchase an eyelet setting kit from a scrapbooking store. These come with a hammer, anywhere hole punch and eyelet setter. Some also come with a small self-healing cutting mat.

How to Attach Scrapbooking Eyelets

To begin, use a pencil to lightly make the spot on your page where you want the eyelet. Use the anywhere hole punch to make a small hole. The punch will have a small tip at one end that cuts the hole in the paper. Place it against the paper, and use the hammer to give the other end of the punch a firm tap.

Hold your eyelet so the rounded, colored edge is up and facing you. Insert the other side into the hole on the paper. Carefully turn the page over so it is face down. Place the eyelet setting tool on the eyelet, and give the end of the tool a few taps with your hammer.

Turn your page over, and your eyelet should be attached to your page layout just where you wanted it. Use eyelets just as you would any scrapbooking embellishment. They work well to anchor or lace ribbons on a page and to attach charms. Try using an eyelet in a page title to dot letters like "i" and "j." Once you start using scrapbooking eyelets on your page layouts, you're sure to find many uses for them.<bio>Christine Perry invites you to her website, for more scrapbooking ideas and information on free scrapbooking page templates.</bio>

Scrapbooking is one of the most popular hobbies in America and is done in recognition of special occasions, including anniversaries, graduation, birthdays, weddings, new births and as a memoir of precious moments. The possibilities are limited by the owner's imagination and may even include such things as building your first house or as a journal used to document a dream vacation.

There are several products needed for scrapbooking, which includes an album that can easily have pages added or removed, photos, magic markers in a rainbow of colors, glue, stickers, confetti-like embellishments. These products are readily found in any craft store or the craft section of most retail stores, but are also commonly found online. Many online specialty stores carry a broad range of crafting supplies and embellishments that are designed to make the scrapbooking experience a terrific one.

An example of a quality scrapbooking project may be a high school or college graduation. Photos of the graduate, along with special moments with his/her friends at college, could be added onto various scrapbooking pages. For each page, perhaps the graduate could share some thoughts in writing about the image that was captured on film and what he/she was feeling at that moment. Perhaps it was a big win for the football team or a special dance but, whatever the case, it is nice to have a written sentiment to go along with the photo. Once the picture is applied and a few words are written, it's time to add the embellishments. It's fun to add a catchy title to the top of the page, which can be written, printed from a computer or found on stickers. Once the title is added, some ribbon or confetti-like additions can be placed sporadically throughout the page.

Scrapbooking is a fun hobby and is also a way to preserve the memories that we wish to keep in our life forever. As the years go by and memories slowly fade of how we felt on a particular day or at a particular time, it is wonderful to turn to a scrapbook and see what we were thinking at the big game or how we felt after being asked to a dance or after meeting our future spouse. Not only can scrapbooking be a wonderful way to pass the time, but it is also a treasure that we can share with our children and grandchildren through the years. <bio>To find out more about scrapbooking, please visit our website at http://www.scrapbooking-guide.info .
You know that you love scrapbooking as a hobby, but have you ever considered scrapbooking full time, as a business? Statistics show that the most successful businesses are those in which the owner of the company thoroughly loves and enjoys what they do. First, if you are an experienced scrapbooker, you may want to consider teaching others how to scrapbook. This is an excellent business and could be held in your home, or you may prefer to provide instruction in the student's home. You can charge a set fee for the classes, determine how many classes you will give, and also determine a material list that the student will need to purchase.

Since many people love scrapbooks but simply don't have the knowledge, time, or the desire to learn how to create these memory holders themselves, you may find that it is more profitable for you to create scrapbooks for clients. In this type of business, you will need to invest in software, a website, business cards, and materials. Since the scrapbooks will be created according to the client's preferences, you will most likely need to choose the materials with the client. You may require the client to pay for the materials before the scrapbook is complete as well. There are a lot of different marketing and advertising avenues out there, but studies show that the best form of advertising is word of mouth. Create beautiful scrapbooks for clients, and you'll find that business will increase simply by satisfied clients telling others who created their scrapbooks. Make sure to always have sample scrapbooks on hand for display and advertising purposes.

Some people prefer to run a direct sales scrapbooking business. In this type of business, you would sell scrapbooking materials, kits, and supplies to other scrapbookers. There are vendors that provide these materials and many find that these are very profitable businesses to run.

No matter which type of scrapbooking business you choose, one thing is certain. Scrapbooking is here to stay and it is becoming increasingly more popular daily. New shows, magazines, and books are continually being produced that attest to scrapbooking's popularity. Those who choose to turn their hobby into a business are rewarded with earning a profit from a craft that they are passionate about. <bio>I have been enjoying the world's greatest hobby, scrapbooking, for many years. For more articles, tips and resources about scrapbooking visit http://www.funscrapbookshop.com. </bio>

Having a separate desk for scrapbooking is an excellent idea and a good investment when you really love this hobby and indulge in it often. Since there are so many small items you use for making scrapbooks, and because you need to keep the pages and paper nice and neat and free of damage, it is a good idea to have a separate area for your supplies. To really make the most of your desk for scrapbooking there are some things you should consider.

For one thing you should always keep everything on your desk for scrapbooking neat and organized. It's easy to let the small page elements and scrapbooking supplies get mixed up with one another but this can cause frustration when you're ready to actually make up some new page layouts. There are many containers and organizers you can buy that are specially made for scrapbooking organization, but remember that you can use just about anything to keep your items separate and organized. Egg cartons, paper cups, and even the plastic lids to things like hairspray can all keep those tiny embellishments organized (wash them out first of course!).

You should also consider keeping a trash bin near your desk for scrapbooking so that you can easily get rid of scrap paper, tape, and other discarded items so they don't get mixed in with necessary supplies. A separate cup or drawer for basic scrapbooking tools like scissors and paper cutters can keep things organized and neat as well; nothing is more frustrating than hunting around for the scissors or die cutter when your desk is covered in cardstock and other page elements.

Paper organizers are very inexpensive and can really help keep your desk for scrapbooking organized as well. These paper sorters are like stacked slots for different colored paper and will keep them from being bent or marked up. They also allow you to sort your paper by color and by pattern or theme.

Remember that when you have a desk for scrapbooking you don't need to keep everything right on the surface of the desk. Put a corkboard up on the wall in front of the desk; you can pin binder clips to it and use the clips to hold papers so that you don't need to use a pushpin with them. You can also pin envelopes to the corkboard and use these envelopes to keep small embellishments and stickers neat and organized. Clear plastic sandwich bags also work well allowing you to see exactly what is inside. Be sure to use the space under your desk for scrapbooking as well; a small cart with drawers is usually affordable and can easily stay next to or under your desk for easy storage access.

Having a desk for scrapbooking that is organized and neat makes creating page layouts easier and quicker. It allows you to get started sooner and you don't waste time clearing a space to work on a page. The time it takes to keep things organized will be well worth it when you are able to get more pages done.<bio>How can you impress your friends with your page layouts?
There are so many scrapbooking supplies out there that it can be difficult to know where to start. As you do more and more scrapbooking you will start to put together many items into a kit. You can start your kit with the 10 items below. They are tried-and-true tools that belong in the arsenal of every serious scrapbooker.

*A Scrapbooking Album*

This one's a no brainer, you can't scrapbook without an album. There are a wide variety of them out there in different shapes and sizes. Be sure to pick one that matches your theme and colors. If you take the time to find the perfect one it will make all the difference in your project.

*A Pair of Scissors*

A nice, sharp pair of scissors is a must for the serious scrapbooker. In fact, we recommend having a pair that is only used for your scrapbooking. That way you won't have to deal with lost or dull scissors.

*Adhesives*

You certainly don't want your scrapbook pieces falling apart on you. Unfortunately, that might be exactly what happens if you chose the wrong adhesive. As a rule, any kind of children's glue or cheap gluesticks will cause problems. Some of the best adhesives are photo tab dispensers, and double sided tape runners. Whatever adhesive you chose, make sure that is acid-free.

*Tweezers*

Unless you want to get your hands messy and smudge up your scrapbook pages you'll need some tweezers. They make placing small pieces on your scrapbook a snap.

*Scrapbook Paper*

Make sure the size of your scrapbook paper matches the size of the album you are using. Great scrapbooking paper will be also be acid-free and may be described as buffered or lignin-free. Card stock is also a great paper to have around as it can be used for many things related to scrapbooking.

*Pen*

A good pen is also a must for scrapbooking. It doesn't have to be fancy, just a basic black pen that is acid-free. You may want to add more pens with different colors as your scrapbooking kit grows.

*Paper Trimmer*

A paper trimmer is a necessary tool for cutting straight and making squares. There are several different sizes of trimmer and all of them are useful. It's probably best to start with a 12" paper trimmer but you may also want to get a smaller one for portability reasons.

*Eyelet Setter Kit*

Some of our favorite scrapbooks use eyelets for embellishments. Without an eyelet setter kit you won't be able to use these handy little guys. Fortunately they are easy to find online or at most craft stores. They are also affordable.

*Embellishments*

These are the little things that give a scrapbook character: Stickers, eyelets, buttons, charms, etc. Go for embellishments that match the theme of your scrapbook. Have fun collecting these!

*A Great Scrapbooking Book*

Need some scrapbooking ideas? You'll usually be able to get some inspiration if you have a good idea book around. Becky Higgins and Tracy White are both authors who have written some fantastic books on the subject of scrapbooking. <bio>Nicole Fisher is a contributing writer for http://www.superscrapbookingideas.com, a fantastic resource for page layout inspiration, useful links, helpful tips, and tons of scrapbooking ideas. </bio>

We all want to save money, but finding quality discount scrapbooking supplies can be a challenge. Here are some places to shop the next time you need scrapbooking materials at a great price. You're sure to find some great discounts on your favorite papers, tools and embellishments.

Ebay

Ebay is a must for discount shopping. Do a search for the specific scrapbooking supply you need or just browse the scrapbooking and paper crafts category. Once you find a great deal, place your bid or use the "buy it now" feature. Remember to check shipping prices before you place a bid, and never bid beyond your desired price. Otherwise, you may not really be getting a discount on your scrapbooking supplies.

Scrapbooking Forums

Check scrapbooking message boards for classified ads. Many of the most popular forums, like 2 Peas in a Bucket and Willow Traders, offer a board for members to sell and trade their supplies. There are some great deals to be found there. Once you've purchased the item, be sure to provide your shipping information off the board in a private message and pay for your item promptly.

Dollar Stores

Did you know dollar stores often have scrapbooking supplies. Check their weekly ads for sales as well. Both discount stores have a wide selection, and carry a variety of scrapbooking manufacturers. Target often has scrapbooking supplies in their dollar bins as well.

Craft Stores

Craft stores like Michael's and Joann's also have weekly sales, but the best bargains are their weekly 40% coupons. You can find these coupons in your local Sunday newspapers. The discount is on regular price items only. If the item is on sale that week, you can't use the coupon for it. Don't forget to also check the clearance items at these stores.

Closeout Stores

You can find heavily discounted scrapbooking supplies from top manufacturers in the industry at closeout stores. If there is a Tuesday Morning or Big Lots in your area, shop there often for the best deals. If you find something you like, don't wait to buy it. These closeout items are in limited quantities, but at fantastic prices.

Local Scrapbooking Stores

Yes, you can find great prices at your local scrapbooking stores. Many of them have clearance areas and if you join their newsletter list, you will often get coupons by mail or email. Not to be missed is Archiver's Hot Spot. They even run occasional coupons for further discounts in the Hot Spot.

You can find great discounts on scrapbooking supplies. You just need to know where to look.
We've all done it, ruined a perfect scrapbooking page layout. Globs of glue in the wrong place, crooked stickers or typos are just a few common mistakes made on scrapbook pages. Before you waste your paper and supplies by throwing out a page gone wrong, you may be able to salvage that layout with these scrapbooking ideas.

Accept Mistakes

Before you even try to fix your mistakes, take a close look at it. Is it really that bad? Scrapbook layouts don't have to be perfect. In fact, they are more endearing to our families when they aren't. Accept that you will make mistakes, and be able to let them go. Do you really need to fix that mistake at all?

Scrapbooking Ideas for Glue Mistakes

Try to prevent excessive glue by using the appropriate adhesive for your project. Textured page elements like fabric or ribbon work well with glue dots, and large items like photos and frames can be attached quickly with tape runners. Tiny accents may only need a dab of glue. Try using a glue pen for these.

A rubber eraser is a great scrapbooking tool to have on hand whenever you are working with glue. Let the glue dry completely, and then carefully rub the area with the rubber eraser. It should lift the glue right off the paper. If that doesn't work, shop your local scrapbooking store for adhesive remover. Dab a little on a cotton swab and rub gently. Of course, you also can cover the glue with another page accent. A sticker can cover a wide variety of mistakes.

Scrapbooking Ideas for Typos

Typos can be the most annoying scrapbooking mistakes. Once you notice it, it's the first thing you see on the page. Remember that others may not even notice it. Sometimes you can correct the misspelling easily by changing a letter. If the error is in a title or journaling block, cut a piece of cardstock the size of the area, and try again. You've also added a framed page element to your page in the process.

Scrapbooking Ideas for Misplaced Stickers

If you find a sticker in the wrong place quickly enough, sometimes you can gently lift it from the page. If it's already stuck to your paper and you risk tearing the page if you remove it, there are special adhesive removers that can lift it from your page. Be sure to always have some on hand whenever you are working with stickers.

If a misplaced sticker is making the page off balance, you can always add more stickers to the page to even out the page. Make the sticker blend into the page by adding more focus to your focal point photo. If it's just the wrong sticker, create a mat to go over it and apply the correct sticker to the mat.

Scrapbooking is all about creativity. Stretch your imagination and look at your mistakes as challenges. How can you work your mistake into the layout? I'm sure you'll come up with many ideas to correct your scrapbooking errors.<bio>Christine Perry is an avid scrapbooker and has over 10 years of scrapbooking experience.
Most things that require patience, a little bit of imagination, mind's eye, so to say to do creative work is daunting for beginners. Scrapbooking is no exception. The mere thought of collecting specially treated scrapbooking paper, using the right adhesive to stick it to a non-stickable surface, doing the art-work to suit the project, using a motif appropriate to the theme, put most people off the job. My advice to beginners wishing to do scrapbooking is to go one step at a time and not think of accomplishing all at once. Consider the case of trainees going for mountaineering. You know what the experts advise them... "Do not look at the top of the mountain, because then you would never be able to reach there. Go to the base camp; reach the second and then the mountain itself will bring you to the top". The same principle, I guess, applies to scrapbooking for beginners.

It is true that there are a good number of websites on scrapbooking for beginners, but none of them can take the terror out of your system. Only your own will power can urge you to achieve. Nothing else can take you out of the stupor that silently gnaws at your innards, telling you to refrain from it. However, I am sure you will ultimately win if the motivation is there. Besides, there are quite a few forums that are dedicated to acting as scrapbooking for beginners guide and in these scrapbooking forums, you are sure to find the incentive that seems to be lacking now.

Another serious impediment that haunts the mind of beginners is the feeling that it is "too late" to barge into it. But remember, it is never too late to start any creative work. Like any other job where you have to 'apply your mind', you may start scrapbooking anytime in your life, and once your mind runs in a positive direction, nothing can stop you. You should not apply a brake once the momentum has built up because putting a reign on it at that stage may spoil the game and it is difficult to come back from a point of no return.

Also, don't be discouraged by the enormity of the work in hand -- nothing is impossible. I recollect, locating an interesting signpost in the workshop of a stainless steel fabricator years ago that read "Standard assembly jobs take 12 hours to fabricate, impossible(s) take a bit longer." So, take heart, don't leave, not even in despair. It may be sound advise to consider scrapbooking like taking a long train ride through life, imbibing the scenic beauty en route, taking a video here and there as you travel along since there is much to be absorbed as a beginner and your enthusiasm and fervor will surely pay off in the long run. <bio>For more information about scrapbooking and other hobbies and passtimes please visit our website at http://www.allcraftsandhobbies.com/ </bio>

How you tried using your scrapbooking materials for other projects? These project ideas are great for scrapbooking with kids.

1. Decorate jars and use them as small storage items in your children's bedrooms, like marble collections or collectible game cards. Look in your scrapbooking supplies for stickers and rub-ons to embellish any size jar. Baby food jars and Mason jars work well for this project.

2. Make greeting cards when scrapbooking with your children. Nearly any type of scrapbooking material can be used for making cards. Children will love creating their own Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day or birthday cards.

3. Holiday decorations are easy to make with scrapbooking materials. For example, Thanksgiving embellishments and cardstock can make name plates for the holiday table. Use your creativity and help your children make a centerpiece for the table out of paper and scrapbooking supplies.

4. Help your child keep a vacation journal. Before you go on vacation, create a scrapbook album to take along and have your child complete the album while traveling. Select a small album so it will be easy to pack in a child's carry-on bag. Have pages pre-designed for some of the places you are planning to visit. You could even include some journaling prompts throughout the album. Some examples are "My Favorite Ride at Disneyland" or "The Best Thing about Staying in a Hotel." Then attach a small plastic bag filled with colored pencils or markers, lots of vacation-themed stickers and some adhesive to attach memorabilia and photos from the trip. Let your child do the rest!

5. Scrapbooking for children is an opportunity to make gifts for your family. Flip through any scrapbooking magazine, and you are sure to see a gift project. Your child can use scrapbooking supplies to make picture frames, pencil holders, photo cubes, or note cards. Children also can design pre-made gift scrapbooks, like a recipe album for grandma or an ABC album for a new baby cousin.

6. Christmas ornaments make great scrapbooking projects for gifts. There is no limit to the kinds of ornaments you can make from scrapbooking supplies. Don't be afraid to get messy and use glitter for this project.

7. Birthday parties and sleepovers are the perfect project for using your scrapbooking supplies with your children. Begin with crafting invitations out of paper and embellishments. Have enough materials to keep the same theme throughout the project. Take the time to create thank you notes at the same time. Then use your scrapbook materials to make napkin holders, name plates, centerpieces and party decorations. Finally, using the same theme, decorate goodie bags for your guests to take home.

You'll find hours of fun in these scrapbooking for kids projects. In most cases, you have everything you need in your scrapbooking supplies right now. Scrapbooking for children is a chance to spend quality time with your kids and encourage their creativity and imaginations. Try one of these projects today with your child.<bio>Christine Perry is an avid scrapbooker and has over 10 years of scrapbooking experience.
