If you are thinking about using the method of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/crate+training" rel="tag">crate training to train your dog but are not positive what the benefits are of using this method instead are then read through this article to receive more information about crate training.

Many people find that by using crate training, it is the best thing you could do for your dog while training him or her and would recommend you to do it. Simply because many people find using crates is only for travelling with your dog or visiting the vet, they never think of it as an actual training method. Although, it is actually a very beneficial way for you to train your dog and has positive results for both you as the owner and teacher and your dog as the student.

All puppies get into the mode of taking naps frequently throughout the day and each time your dog becomes tired you should put him or her into the crate and close the door. This will help prevent any accidents before or after he or she wakes up. At the beginning, you may want to put a blanket and a puppy training pad into the crate for percautions as it will take your dog a while to get used to using the bathroom in the crate.

When your dog wakes up you should immediately take him or her outside to use the bathroom because it gives your puppy the sense of using the bathroom outside which is the ultimate goal to achieve. After a few days your puppy should be able to manage going to the crate by him or her self and using the bathroom as well as wanting to use the bathroom outside.

You could also use the crate as the place where your dog sleeps at night so he or she becomes more comfortable with the area but it is another decision that is up to you. If you wish to train your dog to use your bathroom outside then don't let him or her become too comfortable with using the crate and increase the amount of times that you take your dog outside to use the bathroom but always do it at the right times.

Do not put your dog in the crate as a punishment if he or she does something wrong, simply because then the dog will relate it to a bad spot to be in and will not use the bathroom in there which may result in your puppy not being trained properly.

Whatever method you choose to use, they are all effective but this one is one of, if not the fastest ways to train your dog to use the bathroom. Good luck training your little puppy and have a great day! <bio>http://www.smalldogbreeds.co.uk provides free articles and information on over 150 dog breeds </bio>

There are many pleasures in life, but few are as great as owning and caring for one or many pets. I have been a pet lover ever since I was a kid, and I have never owned less than three dogs at a time for as longas I can remember. My parents were dog lovers as well, and they raised us right. I remember being fascinated with methods for training our dogs from the time I was young. I loved learning about new ways to get your new puppies to stay in control. Crate training was one method that I constantly saw my parents using.

Basically, crate training is a method of training your dogs (and I guess it could be used for other pets as well). You use crates to put your dogs in during times of discipline as a way of training them into good habits and keeping them away from bad habits. Each time I have seen crate training used I have seen it work effectively.

When done right, crate training is a great way to train dogs. As a veterinarian, I am constantly helping my clients come up with creative ways to house train and teach other habits to their dogs. I quite often suggest crate training to my clients as long as they take the time to learn exactly how to make it an effective form of discipline.

Like any other form of training, crate training is only effective when it is done consistently and well. You cannot use crate training on a hit and miss basis and expect your dogs to respond well to your actions. You must learn the techniques of crate training and then be committed to sticking to your purposes once you begin the training. Dogs need consistency in discipline or they will never understand what you are trying to mold in them.

You can pick up many resources on crate training, or you can do an online search and find out more. It is becoming a more popular way to train dogs, so you shouldn't have any problems finding enough info to work with. Take pride in your dogs and take the time to train them to the best of your ability and with the most effective methods you can find. Crate training might just be the answer that you are looking for with your dogs. Grab some crates and start your training today! <bio>Hallidae Thomason is a veterinarian that cares about seeing people train their pets well. She encourages the crate training method for most dog issues. See http://www.cratetraininghelp.info for more. </bio>

Crate training your dog is beneficial both to you and your pet. Once he has gotten used to living there, he will spend most of his spare time inside it. That means, he will not get restless and destructive when you are away.

Crates are box-like structures which can easily be taken apart and reassembled and are even extremely portable. Some hotels allow pets to stay in their respective kennels, so you can take your pet along wherever you go.

How do you train your dog to use crate?

You have to be very careful while first introducing the kennel to your dog. Following some simple steps will make the experience enjoyable to your dog.

Never use force while trying to get your pet to use the crate. Always talk to him in a comforting tone and try to tempt him into it with little treats.

Never use this as a punishment - the dog shouldn't come to fear the crate in any way.

Place your pet's favorite things inside his kennel -- soft toys, towels and blankets.

Many crates have a detachable door. You may want to fix the door till the pup has been trained. You can remove the door once he's trained to use the crate.

It is better to purchase a crate that's just right for your pet's size. You can even buy a larger crate and then insert a compartment into it, to make it smaller for his present size.

In case your pup is under 3 months old, he will have no bladder control. So it is advisable to leave a stack of newspapers on one end of the crate, just in case he's in a hurry to ease himself.

In case the pup creates a mess in the crate, do not punish him for it. Dogs care a lot about cleanliness, so he probably couldn't help himself.

Place the crate in a room where you can always keep an eye on your pet. Don't leave him alone in dark, empty rooms. Create a comfortable environment for your pet.

Once he starts to like his kennel, you can think of leaving him alone in there for short periods of time. Afterwards, your dog will naturally get used to the idea of being alone for longer periods of time.

Do not let your children disturb the dog when he is in his crate. He's definitely not going to like the intrusion into his privacy!

It is best not to use the crate if your pup is under 8 weeks old, is ill, feels lonely or displays severe separation anxiety symptoms. It is also best to avoid using crates when the weather is too warm and stuffy.

Showering a lot of love on your pet is vital for his well-being. Playing by some simple pet care rules will ensure a great relationship between you and your precious little pup!

Learn more about dog training at http://www.DogTraining-AtoZ.com <bio>Matthew Contributes To http://www.DogTraining-AtoZ.com - A top Dog Training resource. </bio>

Crate training dogs are necessary for dogs as when dogs brought up, they can affect you as well as anyone can affect them. Therefore, it is necessary to let dogs to live in the crates but crate training dogs is necessary for dogs as they can come to know about how to live in the crates only if they get crate training. During crate training dogs, dogs get complete guidance what to do in the crates and how to live in the crates.

Teach your dogs during crate training that what should they do in the crates. Teach your dogs how to protect themselves inside the crate. Teach them that the crate is the best protective residence for them. You should teach them a bit daily and assure them that they cannot never be alone in the crates as you visit them daily. If you teach your dogs in the friendly way in the crates, they will learn more in very short time. Be frank with them during teaching them so that they may become your friends and may never try to bite you during crate training dogs.

It is necessary to do successful crate training dogs that you must have a neat and clean bed sheet for the dogs in their crates as dogs like to sit and take rest only on the neat and clean places. You should give them toys, especially balls for playing so that they may not feel boring. Always visit the crates of dogs daily so that they must not consider themselves alone and may not be afraid of loneliness. Give them healthy food on time for eating so that they remain healthy, and you may succeed in doing successful crate training dogs.

Play with the dogs during crate training dogs and teach them whatever you want to teach them during playing as they learn more when they are in a pleasant mood. You should never be rude with your dogs as dogs can become dangerous when they get angry and can affect you and secondly, they never learn when someone teaches the dogs with rudeness. Always be polite with your dogs by your attitude, and it is the most important step for the successful crate training dogs. If you remain polite with the dogs during the training, they will surely show the positive response towards your training.

Be sure that crates of dogs do not have anything in them from which dogs may be afraid. If you want to make successful the crate training dogs, bring only those things in the crate which are liked by dogs. Be sure that crate of the dogs has everything in it which dogs want to see in their crate. Dogs dislike dirty places, keep crate clean so that they may live in it.
Often, many pet owners misunderstand the concept and the importance of crate training. Believing that crating an animal for any length of time is a cruel thing to do. Infact, dog crate training is actually one of the best things you can do for your pet. It gives him his own personal place that no one else invades. If you think about it, you probably like having your own space, so why wouldn't your dog?

One thing you need to remember about your pet. He is going to want to be with you so it's best to either make sure his crate is where he can see and hear other people. If it is going to be an extra load on you to move his cage all over the house purchase an extra cage. This will allow him to have one in the bedroom and one in another part of the house.

Another advantage to crate training your dog is that if you have somewhere he can be confined when you are away, you do not have to worry about coming home and finding a mess. Older dogs normally will hold their bathroom trips for a longer period of time. However, puppies will pretty much go anywhere until they get accustomed to going out or using puppy pads.

Dog crate training can be great if you are planning on taking your pet with you somewhere that you have to fly. This can keep them from being so nervous if they are already accustomed to being in a crate. Traveling in their own crate that is familiar to them will not be as upsetting either. Taking along a favorite blanket or toy helps too.

A great advantage to crate training if you have a larger breed dog such as a boxer is that he can go to his crate when company is visiting. Some people are afraid of big dogs and it makes them uncomfortable to know the dog can get to them. If he is in a crate, it will ease the feelings of your guest and your dog.

Some dogs are just natural born chew machines. They will chew anything and everything they can get their teeth into. So crate training is a blessing if you have a job or places you need to go. Then you won't have to come home to all of your belongings chewed to pieces.

Just take into consideration when you do put your dog in his crate that you don't make him stay inside for hours upon hours. He needs to be able to get out and stretch his legs and go to the bathroom. The crates can be comfortable but your dog needs to be able to get out and stroll around to keep his muscles from getting cramped.

We love our dogs, once you've successfully house-trained your dog, remember to reward your dog for using his crate in the correct manner! You have just taken the long rewarding road towards creating a positive bond with your dog! <bio>Jeremy C.W is a Pet Fanatic and Write Information Articles for Websites like http://www.DogNpuppies.com =>Visit http://www.DogCrateTraining.net for More Insider Dog Crate Training Secrets </bio>

You can start to crate teaching it by developing habit of staying inside the crate for long time with your puppy. At the beginning, you will face a bit difficulties in developing habit of staying whole day inside the crate if it did not live inside the crate from the very beginning when you bought it but as puppy learns more quickly than dog, the habit of staying inside the crate will soon develop if you give it your full attention.

Open the door of the crate of your puppy seldom. Do not keep opened the door whole day. So, your puppy will assume that the crate is the only place where it can live. Give food regularly to your pet in the crate. For entertainment inside the crate, give it a ball for playing with. There are many different types of toys you can use. A rope ball is always very popular with all types of dogs and can keep them amused for hours. Another thing you can try is a chew stick or bone; these are very good for entertaining and keeping your pets gums and teeth healthy.

You also want to make sure they get a healthy night's sleep. For enjoying sweet dreams inside the crate, you must give a neat and clean bed sheet. It is better to clean the crate daily, especially if you are feeding your dog in it. Dog food and water can make quite a mess. Your puppy remains happy and healthy in the crate when it is clean.

Crate training a puppy has many significant benefits. The most significant benefit of is that your house remains clean when your puppy lives inside the crate as it cannot make dirty your house when it does not come out of the crate. Another benefit is that it can protect itself from any torturer thing when your puppy lives inside the crate. Another benefit is that you can lock it inside the crate when someone comes at your home that is afraid of it.

During the training process, spend maximum time with your pet so that you may establish only those habits which you want to see and those habits may not establish in it which you do not want to see in it. During training, all members of a house must visit the crate so that it may recognize them and may protect itself from the unknown enemy.

In short, crate training a puppy teaches it how to live in the crate, about the benefits of living in the crate and protects it. It is better to buy a crate for a puppy instead of let it wandering here and there. When you buy the crate, make sure he enjoys living in it.
Crate Training

One of the most dog friendly methods of training your pet is crate training. The process is very natural and uses the den instincts of the puppy or dog to help them understand where a safe place in the house is for them as well as giving them their own space and area. Since dogs naturally do not want to soil this area they are less likely to mess in the crate leading to faster and more efficient housebreaking.

Routines

Crate training works in conjunction with a puppies body functions. Establishing a routine with the puppy will help with the process and will avoid any unnecessary accidents. To use crate training techniques follow the steps outlined below:

Feed and water your puppy at the same times (or as close to the same times as possible) each day. Most puppies are fed at least two to four times per day depending on their age.

When the puppy has finished eating place them in their crate with some toys and soft bedding material. The crate should be where the puppy can still see people and feel part of the family, not where they feel that they are being isolated or punished for bad behavior.

Approximately 15 minutes after placing the puppy in the crate take them outside or to the area that you wish them to use a bathroom. If you puppy has spoiled the crate prior to this 15 minute mark don't punish them, simply clean the crate and plan the next time to take them out 5 minutes earlier. This is a process of trial and error but you will eventually find out just when the little puppy will go to the bathroom after eating.

Have the puppy walk with you to the outside area or toilet area. Praise them when they go. If they are outside for more than 3-5 minutes and are showing no signs of relieving themselves simply place them back in the crate and try again in no more than 5 minutes. Don't scold or pay undo attention to them until the go outside and eliminate. Immediately give lots of praise and attention and return them to the house for further attention and socialization.

Puppies quickly learn that by going outside and relieving themselves they will get lots of positive attention and will come back into the house and play with or be around the family.

Cautions with Crate Training

To be sure that crate training is completed correctly make sure that the following occurs:

Make the crate comfortable with toys, soft, washable bedding and lots of ventilation. It is to be a positive place that is the puppies "den".

Never use the crate as a punishment or isolation area. If your puppy begins to associate the crate with being ignored or punished they will quickly stop wanting to go to the crate.

Keep the crate somewhere that is part of the activity centers of the house so that the puppy can still see people and be in a familiar area.

Do not keep the puppy in the crate for prolonged periods of time. Confining your puppy to the crate is a form of punishment to the puppy and will make the crate a negative place to be.

There are many resources and books about crate training that provide additional information. Crate training your puppy makes it easy to travel with the dog as they are always at home in their crate no matter where you are or what type of transportation you use. <bio>Read more of Kelly Marshall's pet articles at http://www.ohmydogsupplies.com </bio>

Getting a puppy is a wonderful decision for just about everyone. However getting a puppy also means that you will soon be taking on the task of having to potty train it. While potty training a puppy can seem like a rather rotten chore to take on. It really does not have to be as difficult as it often seems.

One of the most popular methods of house breaking a puppy is the crate training method. Like most all animals dogs will most like avoid soiling their homes or "dens". By giving them a dog crate to stay in when it is not possible to supervise them you are creating an artificial den for them. As this particular instinct is very strong in most all dogs, crate training is a hugely successful method to utilize when you are going to be potty training your puppy. Keep in mind that a puppy needs to be taken outside several times a day to be able to defecate and urinate for crate training to be truly effective.

If you catch your puppy trying to eliminate anywhere in your home you need to make a loud noise that will be enough to get their attention and make them stop what they are doing. Take them outside immediately and give them plenty of praise anytime that they successfully use the bathroom outside.

Generally puppies can control their bowels one hour for how old they are currently. For example if your puppy is six months old it should be able to hold its bowel movements for at least six hours before needing to eliminate. You should take your dog to the vet immediately if they cannot manage to hold their bowel movements for proper periods of time. For instance say your dog has reached one year of age and is only able to control its bowel movements for about an hour then it's likely that your dog is having some type of medical problem.

Please remember that potty training your puppy can often be a long process. Try very hard to become discouraged should your puppy not take to your potty training methods right away. Negative training methods such as yelling at your puppy are rarely an effective manner in which to potty train your puppy. Positive reinforcements such as plenty of praise and petting when your puppy is doing well with it's potty training is the best way to have a successfully house trained puppy. <bio>Gray Rollins is a featured writer for DogTeachers - a site dedicated to helping you train you dog.
The idea of potty training a puppy may seem more than a little daunting with all the information available today. Fact is though that it's not hard if you have the right tools and methods. Below are a few tips that will start you on this adventure of interacting and teaching your new best friend how to behave. If you want your puppy to be happy, you need to realize that they need to be able to spend time indoors with you. Most dogs prefer to enjoy interacting and being with their human family and not living alone outdoors.

WHAT IS HOUSETRAINING? House training is teaching your puppy not to use your house as their personal bathroom.

Contrary to some pet owners, proper crate training methods are not cruel or unkind to your pet. Being kept outside for years because you didn't teach them that using your living room as a bathroom was not ok is truly cruel to a social animal like a puppy. Here are a number of Important Tips for Successful potty training a puppy

TIP #1 Never Scold or Punish your puppy. Dogs have few cognitive reasoning skills, if any. This means that hitting or yelling at your puppy will most likely result in confusion for your pet and not correction. So even if you are frustrated, don't ever hit, smack, or abuse your pet either physically or verbally.

TIP#2 OK, next tip is to be consistent in your house breaking efforts. Take your puppy outside immediately after a feeding. Don't wait for them to have an accident. The majority of puppies also cannot hold their water with a full tummy. A full stomach pushes on the bladder.

By taking them out at regular times, you lower the possibility of accidents. You also gain the opportunity to give your pup praise when they go the bathroom outside where you want them to go.

TIP#3 Speaking of consistency, use only one word to mean one thing. Don't use Bathroom one time, then potty the next. Your pet has enough trouble figuring out what you want without having you use different words that mean the same.

TIP#4 Watch your pet when inside your home. Penning your puppy isn't the same as house breaking.

Your puppy needs to be confined to their crate whenever you cannot actively watch them. It only takes a few seconds for an accident to happen so you need keep a watchful eye to limit accidents.

The biggest problem with potty training a puppy is the need to remain consistent. The idea of moving a dog crate from the living room to the bedroom at night can be a chore. The answer to this problem is a portable doggie crate available only from the site below. Find out more about these affordable - portable dog crates used to quickly house train your puppy

If you are serious about successfully house breaking your Dog, you need a lightweight, portable and easy to use doggie crate. For more information about the latest in easy to set up and move dog crate, visit the link below. After all, don't you want to make potty training puppy as easy for both you and your dog as possible?
Crate training is one of the best possible things that you can do for your puppy. Not only will the puppy be easier to housetrain but overall you will have a happier, more secure dog that has his or her own place to sleep and stay both when you are home and when you are away. Crate training is also an asset when you plan to travel with your dog or puppy. Crate training keeps the animal calm on airplanes and also keeps you pet safe when driving. Crates can be attached to seats by seatbelts and harnesses similar to how children's car seats are fastened into the car. Just like car seats they prevent injury to the dog in the case of a sudden stop or an accident.

Crate training does not happen overnight, and does require both work and attention by the owner. Crate training should never be used as a punishment for a mistake or a bad behavior, or the dog or puppy will see the crate as a bad place and this will defeat the whole purpose of the training. To start the crate training in the most positive way start very slowly and only progress at the rate the puppy is comfortable with.

Picking The Right Size Crate

Depending on how large your puppy will get it will usually make sense to buy the size that will fit the full sized dog rather than having to buy multiple crates as your puppy grows. It is important, however, if the puppy is small and the crate is larger that you limit the space in the crate for the small puppy or he or she will simply use one end for the bathroom and one end as the "den". To make a large crate smaller a mesh screen or piece of wood can be used and then slide to give more room as the puppy matures. When necessary it can be completely removed to give the older dog full use of the crate area.

The idea size of crate, or crate area, is about the length of the dog when it is down, paws extended. Most crates come in standard widths that will allow small dogs to really stretch out but may require larger dogs to sleep in a coiled position. Dogs should be able to stand up comfortably in the crate without the top of the crate pressing on their head or shoulders.

Giant or very large breeds of dogs will generally outgrow most commercial crates before they completely mature. Some specially made crates for large breeds are available on the internet and through breed associations or even pet stores.

Getting Started

Getting started means just familiarizing the puppy with the crate. Make sure the crate is the correct size and that there is comfortable bedding in the crate. Start by sitting with the puppy in front of the open crate. Place a treat, with the puppy seeing the placement, into the very front of the crate. When the puppy reaches in to get the treat say "Crate" and the puppy's name, just once. Allow the puppy to take the treat out of the crate, and do not close the door. Do not try to keep the puppy in the crate longer and make no comment when the puppy exits the crate. Next time repeat the process putting the treat in far enough the puppy must step in completely. Again, when approaching the crate say "Crate" and the puppy's name, and then say "Good Dog" and the puppy's name when they are in the crate. Allow them to exit when they want and ignore the exiting behavior.

Gradually feed a few treats through the side of the crate to encourage the puppy to stay. Always allow him or her to exit when they want, but only praise the going in behavior, never the coming out!

Within a few days the puppy will be comfortable in the crate for a few minutes. Try closing the door but only for a minute at a time, staying right beside the crate. With the puppy's comfort level leave the crate door closed for longer periods and begin to move away for a few seconds, gradually lengthening the time.

Never return and open the crate when the puppy starts to whine or bark, as this will encourage this behavior. Wait until the puppy is quiet before taking him or her out of the crate. Never leave a puppy in the crate for more than 2 to 4 hours at a time, especially when they are small and are not yet housetrained. <bio>To make the crate comfortable for your puppy, consider purchasing a new crate mat or crate pad.
Imagine walking in the house from a long day at work, ready to kick your feet up, relax, and enjoy the rest of your quiet evening at home. Then picture sticking your key in the lock and turning it, just to open your front door to a disaster; the trash from the kitchen strewn about the house, the stuffing torn out of pillows and worst of all=97a stinky wet mess just waiting for you at the foot of your bed. Sounds like a nightmare, right? Even better=97this is the life of a brand new dog owner.

This sounds like a horrible quandary, and it really is. It seems that puppies are programmed to deposit waste in the worst possible spot and to chew up everything that ever meant anything to you. Take heart in the fact that with proper training and a bit of maturation on their part, your pet will grow out of this destructive behavior, but what about in the meantime? This is where crate training comes into play.

There are several reasons why crate training is a good, solid step in properly training and housebreaking your dog. To begin with, here are three of the more understandable reasons why you should bother crate training your dog.

Reason #1: Crate Training Can Ease the Pain of Potty Training

Potty training your new puppy can be a big deal; with all the accidents it can be a frustrating time and easy to feel like you and your dog aren't getting anywhere. After a while, puppies get very good at hiding their mess as well, and sometimes they can do that in the worst of places.

To prevent this from happening to you, get a small wooden dog crate or a wire dog crate for your pet or one with a movable gate where you can adjust your pet's living space. This prevents them from going to the bathroom in one corner and sleeping in the other. You may not think so, but your dog is much more finicky than you think, and they won't want to wallow in their own filth; if they must hold it, they will.

Reason #2: Crate Training Can Ease the Pain of Separation

Many dogs destroy property simply because they are bored, or due to the fact that they want to 'get back' at their owners, so to speak, for leaving them alone for so long. If it seems that your dog is tearing up your home out of spite, that isn't just something you are thinking=97it is the truth.

Having a wooden dog crate or some type of wire kennel established where your pet can go complete with a comfy dog bed and some durable toys for diversion can help ease the pain of separation between you and your pet. Separation anxiety is real, but having a comfort zone for your pet is a good way to make things better, and a dog crate is a great way of doing so while confining your pet to one area at the same time.

Reason #3: It Can Help to Prepare for Non-Pet Friendly Places and Circumstances

One of the pains of pet ownership is when you come across a place where your pet is not welcome. If you are traveling with your dog and your host is not comfortable with is or her presence or you are looking into involving your dog in any type of travel via airplane or train, it is always a good idea to have your pet comfortable with and acclimated to a dog crate. There are specific requirements for how your pet must travel, and most all public transportation requires that your pet be confined to a kennel or dog crate. Of course, having some type of kennel training established can make this a much more comfortable, smooth experience for you and your four-legged friend.

In general, there are several attitudes toward crate training. Some pet owners feel like it is cruel to confine a pet to such a small space and other people feel like it is a necessary step in training. For a well-behaved and well-rounded pet, crate training is always a must, for these three reasons and many more. <bio>One of a kind dog supplies like Wooden Dog Crates and Upscale Dog Furniture can be found at http://www.PamperMePuppy.com </bio>

It is very important to housetrain your dog as early as possible. Little pups, like human babies, do not have bladder control till they are about 3 months old. So they will have to be toilet trained right from the beginning.

How do you house train a dog?

Dogs have a natural instinct for cleanliness. They don't soil or spoil their area unless they can't help it. There are certain methods by which you can housetrain your pet.

• Mark a living area

The dog has to be given his own little area. A dog crate comes of great use for this purpose. Though he may not take to the crate immediately, adequate training will help him get used to it as 'his own' place. The crate should be just the size for him, not too large. One side can be covered with waste paper, in case he loses bowel control. Do not shut him out from the family -- always keep his crate in a corner inside the house, where he can easily be supervised.

• Mark his toilet area

Take the dog out first thing in the morning. Carry him out, so that he doesn't do his thing the moment he touches the floor! Let him sniff around a place outside and decide the place for his potty. Praise him once he is done, so that he learns that the particular area is his bathroom!

In case you are not at home for long periods of time, train the pup to ease himself on a stack of newspapers you've placed for him. In case he messes up some other place, just clean it up and patiently train him till he learns his toilet manners!

• Walk him a bit

Spend some time with him in your backyard and wait for him to finish his potty. Letting him walk around helps him with his bowel movement. This could take anything between 5 and 50 minutes! Praise him when he completes his job. Take him out every two hours or so, or when he starts getting restless, so that he won't unwittingly ruin your home and furniture.

• Introduce him to the whole house

Once your pet has learned to identify his living area and toilet area, he will seldom have accidents at home. Now, you can open him up to the whole house, one room at a time. Keep moving his den from room to room, while always keeping an eye on him. Once he gets comfortable, he will start considering the whole house as an extension of his den.

• Treat your pet with love and respect

An accident in the house may have happened only because your pet couldn't help it. So do not nag or scold the pet, merely treat him with love and talk reassuringly. If the problem continues, you might want to get him checked for bladder or bowel dysfunction.

• Housetraining older dogs The above-mentioned methods can be used to train a grown dog too. Dogs are fast learners, so he will know to mark his own area and will seldom create a mess anywhere else.

House training only involves a little time and effort on the part of the owner. When trained properly, a pet tends to keep his schedule for a lifetime. Once the dog gets old enough, he gains full control over his bladder and bowel function, so he can be left alone for long periods of time. <bio>George Kane writes for http://www.dogtraining-atoz.com a top dog training resource. </bio>

There is nothing more fun than bringing home a new puppy -- for everyone except the person who has to clean up after it! While there is no fool-proof method for house training a puppy, crate training has proven quite successful. Crate training effectively teaches the puppy to andquot;hold itandquot; until given the opportunity to relieve himself somewhere more suitable. However, this is not an excuse to crate your new puppy for long periods of time.

This method of house training a puppy is based on the premise that a puppy would rather not mess up its living area if it doesn't have to. Puppies should NOT be left in a crate for too long. If your puppy goes to the bathroom in the crate because it could no longer andquot;hold it,andquot; the training process will be drastically compromised.

How does one handle house training a puppy in this manner?

If no one is in your home during the day, you should put the puppy in a bathroom or another small, uncarpeted area in your home that can be blocked off. House training a puppy should only take place when you are at home. When you arrive home, take your pup out on a leash. After you play with it for a while put it in the crate. Wait an hour or so and then take it out again. If it relieves himself, shower it with praise. If it doesn't, put it back in the crate and try again about 45 minutes later. This process should be repeated until the puppy is successful.

After it goes to the bathroom it should be allowed to play free in the house. Some people find it helpful to keep a diary of the times their puppy eliminates. While this seems bizarre, it helps you to determine your puppy's habits, thus enabling you to decrease the time it has to spend in the crate.

The most important thing to remember with house training a puppy is to be consistent and offer it an enormous amount of praise. The process may take a while and it is important to understand that if the puppy has an accident during the training, it is okay. You should just increase the frequency of trips outside. If the puppy has an accident after its training has stopped, don't punish it, just revert back to the training process temporarily and you will be back on track in no time. <bio>Dorothy Brown writes for several web sites, including http://mowek.com and http://foraw.com </bio>

Bringing a brand new puppy into your household can be a very fun, and exciting adventure. Taking care of the puppy and making sure that he reaches healthy adulthood is a very rewarding experience, however just like any other thing that makes you grow as a person, raising a puppy is a very enjoyable yet complicated venture.

Just like a newborn baby your puppy will need your constant attention and care. One of the most important challenges that you are going to face is housebreaking your new pet. Making your puppy accident free is the first milestone in the time line of upbringing the newest member of your family.

Think of your puppy as you would a new born baby. The puppy just like the baby doesn't understand the importance of relieving themselves in the proper place. The do however know that they do not want to dirty their sleeping or eating area. You have to remember that at first the puppy is going to have accidents, for the same reason that you don't potty train a baby as soon as they are born, they can not comprehend the skill that you are trying to teach them.

The most important thing that you need to do before you start to train the puppy is to realize that you are the boss and that you are going to set the rules. Choose the spot that will be designated as the puppy's bathroom area. Assigning the area and sticking with it will save your yard when the puppy becomes a full grown dog. Once you have chosen that spot it is very important that the puppy is reintroduced to it at least once an hour.

Make special trips if your puppy has just woke up from a nap, or has been eating or drinking. Pay attention to the puppy if it is wondering around with it's head down and sniffing at the floor, there is a very good chance that it is looking for a place that it can relieve itself. Try making a bathroom schedule for you and your puppy. Make sure when it is potty time that you take your puppy to the spot and tell it in a stern voice that it is "potty time". Using the same training words each time you take your puppy to the bathroom will help it understand what you are expecting from it.

In a perfect world you would be there with your new puppy 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. In the real world however, there will be a lot of times throughout the day that you will be gone. It is very important that you keep the puppy in a crate.

First off, crate is not a bad word. Not only will it help ensure that your puppy does not have an accident on your floor, it will also help to keep your puppy secure and out of harms way. As far as the accident avoidance in the crate, make sure that your puppy sleeps in the crate every night. Soon the puppy will realize that the crate is a place for sleeping and by instinct a puppy will not go to the bathroom anywhere near where they sleep.

Remember to be patient and that accidents do occur. Most accidents are the fault of the owner and not the puppy. If you keep a close eye on your puppy, walking here on schedule and make sure that anytime you have to be away from the puppy that it is in the crate, then your puppy will remain accident free. Enjoy every moment that you have with your puppy; this is one of the hardest stages you will face with them, which by definition also makes it one of the most rewarding when you conquer it together.<bio>For more free information about cat health issues and to find out how to get cheap pet insurance with a few simple steps go visit www.petinsurancepro.com.</bio>

A portable crate is the most effective tool in housebreaking a dog. It is good because it develop the natural instinct of dogs to keep their area clean. The idea behind this crate training is that, dog's natural tendency to keep his eating and sleeping area clean is enhanced. The dog sees the crate as its hide out and as much as possible avoid not to soiled it.

An established routine is the key to effective and successful crate training. This daily routine will help him in establishing a reliable behavior not to eliminate in wrong areas of the house and to eliminate on the designated toilet area. Moreover, never forget to reward your dog with praises and traits such as foods and toys every time he is able to perform his toilet properly.

The difference between a crate and a confine room for puppy is that the former is where you confine your puppy if left unsupervised. It is ideal for a short-term confinement. Since a crate requires no supervision, the puppy will think that the place is his own and so he keeps it clean. Naturally, dogs are clean animals. That is why you see that they keep their sleeping and eating area clean. They eliminate usually a few feet away from their home place.

Puppies should not be confine in a crate for a long period of time because this will leave them with no other choice but to soil their sleeping area. Crate is ideal for a short-term confinement and should not be abused. Every 45 minutes the puppies should be taken outside to eliminate. If he is able to do his business, reward him with praises or treats. If the attempt was unsuccessful, take him out again after 45 minutes and give him few minutes to eliminate. Again, reward him if he is able to eliminate.

Accidents cannot be avoided especially during training. Therefore, it is normal for your puppy to commit mistake during his crate training. If this happen, never yell or scold your puppy. Just clean it up and ignore him when he comes to you while cleaning his mess. This will give him idea that you dislike what he did. Yelling or scolding at your dog will not make him associate the scolding to his act, instead it will cause him fear and confusion.

Keep track of the toilet schedule of your puppy. It will help you in housebreaking of your puppy. When he is able to do his toilet in a regular basis and pattern, you may start to give him free run around the house for him to play and explore. <bio>http://www.pet-super-store.com </bio>

There is great controversy close to dog kennel training. Most suppose that cages, kennels and crates are today's solution to rapid useful punishment. But not too much controversy as there exist about dog collars that choke a dog and give them electrical shocks. It is much better to let your dog learn about the kennel or crate on his own at first. Place his/her kennel or make near you and utilize some tasty treats just inside which will attract him to look in.

Once he does so confidently, toss a couple of treats farther in the the kennel or crate so that he will step every step of the way in to retrieve them. Repeat this/her some times during this/her primarily coaching session of almost 3-5 minutes. During the next 3-5 minute training session, try closing the kennel or crate door for just a couple of seconds as he is eating his treats. On the course of the next few coaching lessons slowly shut the door for more longer periods of time.

Even so, be aware not to expect your dog to spend much more time in her kennel or make than is reasonable for his/her age and experience. All dogs should feel at their home when they get into their cage. Water and food should keep in mind to always be available to them and comfortably situated bedding. For chewing problems chew toys should be that you can use in the kennel and just there and if he is caught chewing show him his chew toy instead don't shout at him. Kennels are more or less priced to purchase so make sure that you want to follow dog training kennels methodologies until the end before spending on one.

Its important to note, if you are going to have a kennel and leave you dog there to sleep, be sure to feed him at the right ours and dont let him in your house before he has done his necesities. Also, Most dogs wont like the kennel unless you train them while they are very young. <bio>If you want to find more info on pets visit: http://www.thepetcaretruth.com </bio>

Adam:

My boyfriend has allowed his wonderful, very well-behaved Jack Russell, who is two years old, to sleep not just on but in his bed. We are trying to teach her to sleep in her bed which is on the floor by our bed but it's proving very difficult! She's managed to sleep there until about 4 AM, but then the whining starts and she ends up with us. It's not really a problem so much when we are at our house but we are planning to go on holiday and she will be staying with my parents and they really won't tolerate her sleeping in bed with them, nor the whining when she isn't allowed to, so we thought it best to nip the habit in the bud completely. We can get her to stay in her bed but we can't get her to actually sleep ... she just whines ... even if we take her for a hundred walks to tire her out. It's as if she HAS to be that close to us!

Tiffany

Dear Tiffany:

Put the dog in a crate. Not only will she be UNABLE to get onto your bed, but when she goes to your parent's house, you will be able to take the crate with her so she will have a familiar place to sleep at the different residence. By crating her at night, you're providing her with her own andquot;denandquot; since dogs derive more satisfaction from small places than we do. She will more than likely put up a fuss in being confined beyond her control, but it should go away after a few nights as she becomes more comfortable with the crate. Do not give her any attention while she is whining, as this will only reinforce the behavior. Some people go so far as to buy earplugs for those first nights.

Introduce the crate in a positive manner, with lots of treats and praise. Put her bed in it so it has her scent in it. Feed her in her crate so she gets the idea that no one will disturb her and the crate is a safe place. When you have to shut her in, give her a special andquot;crate toy.andquot; Many people have had success with Kong toys stuffed with peanut butter or cheese/liver paste and freezing these.

The crate is also useful for confining the dog when it can't be supervised to keep it out of trouble (see the first article above).
For many of us, when we picked out a pet, crate training a dog was probably not on our minds. No matter if your pet is a puppy or an older dog, we usually had some very specific thoughts that made the decision to get a pet easier.

Thoughts of simply having a companion around all the time and someone to keep you company on those long walks may have started you down the road to animal ownership. While crate training wasn't the most important consideration in making this decision, you probably were thinking more of all the positives a pet can offer. Remember those dreams and desires as the only way to have a great companion is to be able to have them be with you and that means being in your home.

Be aware that there are some people out there that think crate training is wrong. They do this out of ignorance and don't truly understand the nature of dogs and canines in general. These animals need a leader and are very social.

Crate Training is not Harsh or Callous toward the dog. and is also not...

Pet Storage until you want to play with them again nor is it kenneling.

Unless you plan to keep your pet outside for the rest of their lives, it's necessary that house breaking begin almost immediately to limit the chance of puppy accidents in the house. While puppy accidents are not a big deal while the excitement of a new pet is happening, it gets old and frustrating if it continues long term. It's better to safely confine your dog and use effective potty training methods than to end up with an unruly animal that cannot be trusted to keep your home urine and poop free.

Don't make the mistake of leaving house training for later. Potty accidents and bad habits developed by your puppy can increase the difficulty in having success with crate training a dog later. You want to limit the chance of your dog relieving himself in your home. It only takes about 5 seconds for a dog to find an acceptable place, squat and you end up with a mess. So if you cannot keep watch 100% of the time, your pet needs to be confined. This idea forms the basis for successful potty training.

Visit the link below for more information on the easiest way to house train your dog.

They are fast bathroom animals and only need a few seconds to seek out a place and go. Accidents in the house are caused by inattentive pet owners who aren't paying enough attention when your pet is out of his crate. Some owners think that dogs have the same reasoning skills as humans. This lead them to believe that accidents aren't their fault but the animal is relieving themselves purposely in the house for spite.

Crate training a dog is key if you want to have a reliably trained companion. Start the training off right by limiting the possibility of developing bad behaviors before they happen.

One good idea is use a lightweight leash to control your puppy when bringing them inside your home. This way you can move them directly into the crate.

Although some dogs may seem to have an obstinate personality and can be difficult, this is yet another opportunity for you to keep control. A headstrong dog will soon associate that being good and having your approval equals freedom and being near you. This is a big benefit of confinement and the use of housebreaking methods to establish who is the alpha dog or leader of the pack.

Your end goal is to get your dog trained to be a follower of you, the alpha or leader of the pack. During this very critical time of crate training a dog, you need to focus on consistency in your behavior so your pet can learn what is expected of him.

So take the time to learn how to teach your puppy what is expected of him. You won't be sorry and the lifetime of enjoyment can't be measured. <bio>Abigail Franks writes on a variety of life issues from a personal perspective including house breaking dogs and puppies.
As most pet parents can attest, dogs are both amiable and feisty. These two seemingly incompatible traits are what dog training so difficult, especially in the early years. Luckily, experts abound that can give us helpful hints on how to get our treasures pooches to mind their manners and behave in public and in the home.

Below are the things you should know to train a puppy and a full grown canine. You can modify these approaches to fit the personality of your dog as these are guidelines, not hard and fast rules.

Puppy training

Puppy training can be engaging, rewarding and fun with the mind set. Remember, puppies are playful, so getting and keeping their attention is the key to success.

1. Train early - young pups are very enthusiastic and alert, in fact, you can start training a puppy that is only a week old. The best way to do this is to set boundaries and rules and enforce them strictly. Don't let the puppy jump up on you and be sure to have treats handy to point out behaviors that are good.

2. Reward - Make great fan fare out of each accomplishment so they understand what they are being rewarded for. While some leniency is of course allowed, be sure to offset broken rules with reinstatement as often as possible. In time, the puppy will understand the difference between being allowed a special reprieve and what is acceptable on a regular basis.

3. House/Crate training - the quickest way to house train a puppy is to place it in a crate. This is because dogs hate to soil their living area and will treat this space like a "den". You can then take them out of the crate and deliver them outside so they can eliminate. The crate itself, if made comfortable, will become their go to place for a bit of R and R so they won't "go" anywhere near it. Only keep your pet in the crate when you are home and be sure to let your pup out at night ritualistically.

4. Breaking the biting/chewing habit - all animals, especially baby ones, enjoy biting and mouthing objects. When they nip on furniture or a hand or foot, they are not aware they are doing anything wrong. One way to break this habit is to allow them to play with other pups. Puppies play rough and react negatively when the biting becomes too much. This peer pressure allows them to understand that biting is unacceptable. The purchase of chew toys allows them to get the biting urge sated so they are less apt to bite or mouth other objects.

Dog training

Dog training can be a tad more complex and often fall into the realm of obedience.

1. Leash training - the trick to getting a full grown dog to accept a leash it to make them understand the leash is not a punishment. If you get them to associate pleasant things, like walks or an outdoor jaunt with a leash they will actually look forward to seeing it. Don't let them react in an out of control fashion and let them know that any disobedient behavior will delay their walk and they will be better behaved. Also, learn to walk with great long strides or to trot with your dog so they feel hampered by the leash.

2. Obeying "come" - your dog will obey almost any command when something positive is attached to it. Far too often a pet parent only asks the dog to come to them when they seek to punish the animal or leash them. If the dog can associate positive memories to the experience, they will be more likely to behave in a positive manner to the command.

These few small tips can work in conjunction with one another no matter the age of your pet. As always, keep in mind your dog's temperament and respect the independence of the animal as you train them to coexist with the humans and other animals.<bio>Dog training company offers in-home obedience to create happier dogs and happier families.
