We all know that the lifestyles of the rich and super-rich differ markedly from those of the average citizen. Nowhere is this better pointed out than in the world of ultra high-end fashion, otherwise known as haute couture.

While the general populace tries to figure ways to save money so that the family car can be filled up with nearly $100 worth of gasoline, the super rich are jetting to private showings and fittings in various countries or having their own private sales consultants flown in from Paris to assist with six figures worth of couture expenses.

One day after a recent Paris showing, clients lined up in a queue two blocks long in order to make sure that they would be able to purchase the fashion creations that interested them the previous day. "We know that there are a very limited amount of these designs created and if we did not act quickly we would be out of luck", one well dressed woman said.

There is little doubt that couture continues to flourish despite the economic hardship elsewhere. Double digit sales growth is showing up across most couture houses and, what's more, the client base is increasingly expanding towards the east and is coming from among the nouveau riche of the Middle East, Asia and Russia.

What is interesting is that executives of these high-end fashion houses are seeing no reduction of interest from their American clients, despite the economic problems in the United States. It appears that haute couture is the ultimate luxury and makes very important personal statements about the owners of these fashions.

It was not too many years ago that the experts were sounding the death knell for haute couture as a long list of fashion houses discontinued their couture activity. Yves Saint Laurent, Emanuel Ungaro, Balmain, Jean-Louis Scherrer and Hanae Mori are all examples of companies that closed their doors to the haute couture line.

Ah, but that was then. Now, sales of those that remained to serve this niche are roaring ahead and these houses are expanding and hiring temporary help to keep up with the demand. All this seems to underscore the belief that at this very high end of the market, clients appear to be impervious to economic downturns.

The clientele for haute couture is very demanding and requires much attention as is evidenced by the fact that couture sales teams are often required to fly halfway across the globe for a single days work. When all the extras are added up it is not at all unusual for a client to be handed a bill in excess of one million dollars for that seasons high end fashions.

The world of haute couture is certainly a different world and if you are to dress the part you must be ready to pay if you want to play. What is surprising is that there is no shortage of players; even in times of economic turmoil.<bio>The Teacher (aka John Pawlak) has been involved in education for over 25 years.
If you have a talent for fashion design, and if you have ever desired to be the next Vera Wang or Donna Karan, you need to begin with basic fashion design clothing. Fashion design clothing and other accessories are created with artistic expression and skillful implementation. Fashion design clothing manufacturers are typically self employed and work for individual clients. Most of the great couture designers started the path up way in that manner, and have worked their way up into retail markets with mass appeal.

The History of Fashion Design Clothing

Before making the endeavor in a career you will need to start with a strong background of knowledge about fashion design clothing. The initial creator of fashion design is Charles Frederick Worth. Working as a humble draper at first, he eventually established a fashion house in the city of Paris. Separating Worth from the seamstresses who worked along side him, clients would dictate to the seamstresses what they desired, and Worth would dictate to the clients what he thought they should wear. The word couturier was created to best describe him. Sketch artists were hired to sketch the clothing so that clients would be able to pick and choose the clothing they liked. There was far less cost involved in provided a sketch, rather than making the garments and risk the client not liking it after all.

France and Europe allowed this trend to grow and spread. London became the next destination for high fashion and magazines began displaying and printing current styles. . Chain type department stores would send buyers to the Paris fashion shows where they would purchase one or more garments to reproduce and sell in their stores at much lower prices. At this time, fashion had not become two distinct styles, haute couture and ready to wear. Most of the time, fashion design clothing manufacturers provided both types of fashion clothing. It was only after World War II that the roles of the manufacturers became sharply divided.

The clothing industry began to envision two sides of the clothing industry, clothes off the rack for everyday use, and the high fashion clothing from the runway. Comingling of the two styles seemed to fade away, with most designers beginning to select designing for one or the other. Times are very different today, as many couture fashion clothing items find their way into department stores all over the world.

If you desire a career in design, many of the original ideals still remain the same; even though the actual role of the designer has changed tremendously. There are many schools of design that will introduce potential career candidates to different avenues of the fashion trade. During the training process, the career minded students will begin to differentiate the different lines of clothing and begin to choose their career path. In most cases, designers will need to pay their dues to the industry before they achieve their career goals in the style of Wang or Karan. Work hard in the hard fashion industry and the rewards will come.<bio>If you are looking to improve your fashion statement please stop by Fashion 4 You</bio>

The world of fashion design encompasses more than design. If you love the world of fashion and want to make your mark on it there are many other ways to do it other than to become the next Vera Wang.

Fashion design schools offer courses in fashion and retail management, fashion merchandising and fashion marketing.

If you can't design fashion but have an eye for putting the look together and knowing intuitively what the next andquot;hotandquot; look will be, perhaps you'd want to look into a fashion design school with an eye towards becoming a fashion purchasing manager in the retail sector.

Every big department store such as Nieman Marcus and Saks has fashion buyers. Everything that is in a department store that is offered for sale was picked out by a buyer.

These fashion purchasing managers or fashion buyers choose and buy the products that are sold in retail stores. Imagine for a moment attending the latest fashion shows in the US and Europe. Seeing first hand the latest fashion offerings of the big name couture design houses such as Lauren, Dior, Gaultier, or the ready-to-wear collections of Balenciaga and Herrera.

Don't think for one minute that the life of a fashion buyer or fashion purchasing agent is all glitz and glamour and hobnobbing. A fashion buyer must have a solid education and expertise in sales and store management.

Fashion buyers are usually graduates of a fashion design school and are hand selected by stores such as JC Penny to enter their training programs. They need a bachelor's degree in marketing and merchandising. Some stores require that a buyer hold an MBA.

There is a hierarchy that is followed in fashion buying. Generally stores will hire new employees as junior buyers to help associate buyers. A fashion buyer usually starts out responsible for one or two different fashion brands. It may take years of experience before associate buyers become senior fashion buyers.

Fashion Buyers must be able to develop strong working relationships with manufacturers reps. They must be able to negotiate prices and be able to communicate with a wide variety of people. Strong work ethic and a positive attitude are also required. <bio>To learn more about Fashion Design Schools please visit http://www.schoolguideusa.com/fashion-design-schools.html </bio>

As a little girl did you sew all your Barbie doll clothes? Did you have mock fashion shows with your friends? If you did you were of course the fashion show producer. You picked the clothes your friends wore in the show and gave them runway tips. Perhaps you were the style-setter in school always in the latest fashion.

These are just a very few ways that fashion designers start showcasing their abilities in their youth. They are inexplicably attracted to fashion and all it's components. While most of us see a jacket and think andquot;nice jacketandquot;, a fashion designer takes it apart bit by bit, breaking it down to it's rawest components of color, cut, fabric, design and ornamentation. They have an intuitive understanding of how it all pulls together. They consider it andquot;funandquot; and love to andquot;playandquot; with clothing.

One of my favorite designers is Carolina Herrera. At a young age it's said she liked to andquot;playandquot; with clothing. Born into a wealthy family Carolina was surrounded by things of beauty. Her sense of style was instilled at a very young age. She obviously continues to carry the sense of elegance that surrounded her in her youth into her life and her fashion design.

Her fashion designs are always timeless and classic. Carolina learned about fashion at an early age from her mother and other glorious women around her. She was surrounded by couture fashion growing up and attended her first fashion show at the age of 13. >From her mother Carolina learned that less is more, and this is what gives her fashion designs an aura of mystery and sensuality. Carolina Herrera's fashion designs speak in a whisper and you know exactly what they're saying.

Although most of us don't grow up in a fairy tale world like Carolina, if you have a real talent and a desire to join in the fashion world there are many opportunities available. An education is essential to enter the world of fashion design. <bio>To learn more about fashion design schools please visit http://www.schoolguideusa.com/ny-fashion-schools.html </bio>

If you want to combine the perfect shopaholic experience with a beautiful city break, Paris is the place to go. Fashion capital of Europe if not the world, this glamorous city is the epitome of elegance, luxury and quality. Whatever you're looking for -- whether it's clothes, furniture, antiques, art or books, you'll find an incredible selection.

Fashion

Before you hit the shops it's handy to have a bit of an understanding of French fashion jargon. Here's a quick glossary to help you out.

Haute couture was born in Paris. Beyond the reach of most pockets, it refers to high-quality, bespoke dressmaking and tailoring, produced by the most exclusive designer houses. Garments are custom designed and made for each client and usually cost tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of euros. Few people across the world can claim to have bought a haute couture piece -- even the gowns worn by Hollywood stars at the Oscars are usually borrowed pieces. More often than not, haute couture garments are made as marketing tools to show off the designer's flair and creativity and boost their reputation at the haute couture fashion shows. Haute couture is a very strictly governed trade, whose rules and regulations are protected by law. There are currently around 10 fashion houses entitled to use the haute couture label, most of which can be found in and around rue du Faubourg-St-Honoré and avenue Montaigne in Paris city centre.

For most of us, the only affordable way to buy designer clothes is by buying items from prêt-à-porter or ready-to-wear collections. This means that the garments are industrially produced on a large scale to standard sizes and are purchased off the rack. Most of the haute couture houses create prêt-à-porter collections, which are usually limited editions and still rather expensive. However, other fashion houses create mass produced prêt-à-porter collections, making designer clothing accessible to the masses.

Paris also has plenty of small, independent designers selling creative and unusual pieces at affordable prices. There are lots of wonderful boutiques around place des vosges in the chic and upmarket Marais quarter.

If you're looking for value for money, you'll find all the good high street shops and department stores (grand magasins) in Paris, such as Galeries Lafayette and Printemps.

Antiques and Art

Antique and art shopping in Paris is much like clothes shopping. Some of the most exclusive dealers in the world can be found in the city, particularly around the rue du Faubourg-St-Honoré alongside the haute couture fashion designers. However, there are also plenty of small independent dealers all over the city where you can pick up exquisite items at more affordable pieces. St-Germain-des-Prés is a great area for browsing around small art galleries and antique shops.

Books

Paris is a booklover's dream. There are branches of France's best and most popular bookstore, FNAC, all over the city. FNAC sells everything from books and music to stationery and concert tickets. If you're looking for something rare or unique, check out the bouquinistes or bookstalls dotted along the bohemian and intellectual Left Bank of the Seine -- or walk into the heart of the Quartier Latin and you'll be surrounded by second hand booksellers.

Markets

The French still love to shop in markets for good quality fresh produce or just to pick up a bargain. There are food markets all over the city -- here's a list of some of the main markets and their specialities:

rue Lepic -- fruit and vegetables rue de Seine -- bakery goods and flowers Marché st Ouen -- flea market selling antiques and second hand clothes rue Poncelet -- patisseries, bakeries and cooked and cured meats Marché St Germain -- organic produce, international produce rue de Buci -- flowers Marché de la Porte de Vanves -- bric-a-brac <bio>Audrey Akeman has resided in Paris for over 20 years.
Fashion is a very wide concept. Everybody knows that the haute couture is an enormous industry, the depository of fantasy and ideas. It is like a big anthill in which every labourer has her/is individual task to perform in order to put the designer's creative ideas into practice. Traditionally, all this havoc ends up in the spotlight of a podium, the length of which is gracefully walked up and down by an array of selected models. At the end of the fashion show we applaud the designer who, more than anyone else, belongs to the circle of the selected few. Not everyone can join in, although the selection process is not always based on talent. This flashy glamorous world is accessible to a certain category of women. Not belonging to this category does not necessarily mean that we cannot and should not be elegant, charming and stylish!

Fashion, just like nature, cynically changes -- one style takes over another and trends that have not caught up, sink into oblivion. People of fashion claim that fashion just like history, repeats itself. However, every time it does repeat itself, it brings along something new. This is the world in which we all not only wish, but also have to find our own place. Therefore, fashion gives us a choice and we make our pick.

Those who used to make clothes for dolls when they were little girls will quickly find their way in the labyrinths of fashion as they know what being creative about what we wear is. It is important to use high quality, natural materials. If that is beyond our price range, we can still look for quality clothes made of linen, silk and mohair. This is how you'll develop a dressing culture of your own. An original piece of clothing together with a stylish handbag and quality shoes will suit you well no matter your height, weight and age. The key is to make sure that your clothes are comfortable and reflect your personality, which proves once again that a good item will make anyone look good. <bio>Yva Lauten http://blog.evatric.com </bio>

Born in 1938, Karl Lagerfeld is a famous fashion designer considered by most critics and consumers as one of Germany's most outstanding fashion experts. He belongs to a wealthy family in Hamburg, Germany, but it was in Paris where he studied fashion designing informally. His name came out of the news when he won the title "the Wool Secretariat" in 1954 for a piece of wool coat he himself designed.

Karl Lagerfeld started working as a fashion designer in 1954 for Pierre Balmain. He ended his term there in 1957, and one year later he transferred to the House of Patou. He also worked as a freelance designer at Krizia. From the period of 1959 to 1978, he worked for Chloe, and it was during that time when he started designing delicate furs for the Fendi collection. Realizing that he can support his own needs as a fashion designer, he decided to establish his own company in 1975 under the name Parfums Lagerfeld.

From 1975 to 1978, Karl Lagerfeld worked with supports coming all sides. But at the latter period of 1978, he started designing his own collection of fashion items independently. That venture lasted in 1982 however, when he decided to make designs for the House of Chanel. He mastered the art of haute couture, and with Gilles du Four helping him in realizing all his responsibilities, he was able to add the ready to wear garments of Chanel to his own fashion list.

Although Karl Lagerfeld continued his career with the House of Chanel, he was again able to establish his own lines of fashion items and accessories in 1984. He resumed his term with Chloe in 1992, but he again quit in 1997 when a new management took Chloe's house. It was Stella McCartney, Paul of Beatles' daughter, who took the new management. Recently, Karl Lagerfeld is doing designs for three big fashion firms, including Chanel, Fendi, and his own label.

Speaking of designs, Karl Lagerfeld's line of fashion products and accessories are all noted for their dramatic and structural touches. The designs are crafted for women though, and most appear in black and white color. Two of the most notable lines he created are the Wunderbra and the Wundercorset, both were introduced in 1994.

Karl Lagerfeld, although he has made his name in the field of fashion, is also a known photographer. It was him who took his own press photos, and because of that the press named him as "Kaiser Karl". His trademarks present three catchy details: a long ponytail for his white hair, sunglasses, and a fan. Noted under his trademarks are two major products: the KL and Karl Lagerfeld couture.

Other Notable Facts: Karl Lagerfeld, in 1996, made a license to produce a line of lingerie and beachwear. He was working with Furstenberg, a German lingerie expert, but this partnership ended after making just a single season due to conflicts of opinions and interests. Recently, the company is dealing with Tommy Hilfiger in the creation and production of a small, affordable fashion line. Karl Lagerfeld truly is an accomplished designer, having worked with many of the top fashion labels and contributing a great deal to the fashion field, he deserves all the credit to his name. <bio>James Philips is a staff member at http://www.perfumecenter.com </bio>

Beauty, celebrity, and money are all a part of our life in society. To some it is their life style, to others is the luxury they cannot afford. Let us start by saying that there are three possible kinds of fashion and respectable fashion designers -- catwalk fashion, the haute couture and every day fashion.

Designers belonging to the first group are pure artists who create clothes for visual pleasure rather than for any practical use whatsoever. They are all undoubtedly talented people. One admires their creative capabilities, ingenuity, and imagination. Internationally recognised designers stand out in their ability to use all sorts of materials, create intricately shaped designs from anything, including metal planks, cables, switches and plastic. The products of their creation will never see the light of day. One cannot blame the poor model for not being able to walk more than fifteen metres down the cat walk without stumbling along because of the silk laces tying her heels. This would be the designer's lost touch with reality. It is clear that these sandals will never be worn at a VIP party and definitely not in the street.

A fashion show is a part of entertainment, like a concert, ballet or other aesthetic event after which the performers put their clothes down and leave them in the wardrobes.

Designers belonging to the second, the haute couture group are top designers who work for international brands and create fancy and unusual clothes are, however, destined to be worn on different occasions by the general public. Huge fashion houses and model agencies, enormous financial investments destined to this small group thanks to which it exists stand behind them. Well off customers pay cosmic sums for clothes, hand bags, shoes and jewellery just because they carry a tag with a prestigious name of the venerated designer or stylist on it. Celebrities care about prestige a lot. There's nothing worse than critical comments on your dress on the part of society commentators or colleagues. In this way, fashion dictators and rich consumers move in the circle of mutual satisfaction.

All other designers, whose names nobody will probably ever find out, simply create original, comfortable clothes worn by millions of people, the largest part of the society who do not worry about the labels or brands, that is. They create fashion for every day use for affordable process. They produce no less interesting, original, unique, fashionable clothes of all sizes for all walk of like. And to be fair, what do care more about -- being well dressed with stylish clothes that correspond to our bodies and mask their slight imperfections or wearing designer labels that we cannot afford and look ridiculous in? Reasonable people just want to feel comfortable and look good in the mirror. Charm and beauty, as we know, often lie in simplicity and harmony.

On the day to day basis, every day is a new act of life in which we play the roles of both artists and performers. We hear the word "fashion" so often these days. Everybody discusses what is and is not fashionable all the time. To some people fashion becomes a misleading concept. It is weird thinking that a Louis Vuitton hand bag bought in a market and "matched" with sports shoes and bare hips could help anyone feel a more important person. Such examples of "fashion" are numerous in the street. The desire to mime celebrities and resemble them make many people wear fake rather than designer label items. It is important to remember that the three different types of fashion exist and to never confuse them or their uses. The podium fashion belongs to the podium and nowhere else. The "haute couture" is wonderful if you can afford it. Maybe it is not a bad idea to have one or two items for special occasions that come from prestigious brands and carry their labels. However, most of the time you will find out that you simply cannot afford to have them. And it is not a bog deal. Being fashionable means wearing good quality clothes in which YOU look good. For this, you have to look for clothes made by a designer whose name does not flash in fashion magazines, but is familiar to you and for a good reason. The designer that makes clothes for YOU is there you just have to find him or her. Good luck! <bio>Yva Lauten http://www.evatric.com/ </bio>

Okay, so it may sound a little funny but fashion business school is something that many fashion students are looking into now more than ever. Fashion business school does sound a bit ludicrous, but if you consider the reasons why people attend fashion school in the first place the idea of fashion and business together only make sense. Fashion degrees are about learning the ins and outs of the business and refining your skills whereas business courses are for people who want to manage or start a business of their own. For those out there already attending fashion school, it is a safe assumption to say that many of them dream of having their own line some day. A fashion line is a business, and that is where fashion business school courses can come into play.

Who Needs Fashion Business School=85Right?

Who cares if you are a pro at making A-line dresses fit even the sloppiest of figures if you can't run your business properly? It is insane to think that so many people are failing to consider the vital role that the fashion business industry plays in their chosen field. What would the fashion industry be if it weren't for fashion business school? If nobody knew how to run a business there would be no Versace, no Louis Vuitton or Donna Karen.

Fashion in itself is a business, and those fashion students out there who are serious about their success will put some consideration into fashion business school courses. Just look at other industries, they all have their own business schools. I know people that have failed in the medical field due to poor business skills and management. So if you are serious about getting into fashion, they I would highly recommend checking out the business schools.

Deciding if Fashion Business School is Right for You

It is important to realize that while it may seem like common sense, not all fashion schools are going to offer courses in fashion business. School courses are designed for one thing or another, but not always both. Find out what type of coursework your chosen fashion school offers and see if you can get some good courses in fashion business in while you are in attendance.

This means that not only will you be able to learn everything that you have ever needed to know about the fashion industry, but you can also learn the ins and outs of business as well and how to handle certain things that your business may throw at you. If you become a millionaire you can hire a manager but in the meantime, you are going to have to learn something or other about fashion business. School may be the way to help you do just that. And you can always ask past or present future graduates to get some recommendations for which type of classes that would be best for you.

I now hope you realize how important the business aspect of your fashion career is. <bio>Article written by Jessica Bradbury, she has a site dedicated to fashion design schools at http://www.fashion-school-info.com </bio>

Whichever of the two it is, the fashion jewelry for the summer is soon going to be on its way out. With the holiday season approaching, the fashion jewelry for the fall takes a rich and warm turn. Styles that are softer, rich and deep colors and mixed materials are coming your way. Circular is look of the coming season, be it fashion jewelry or haute couture. Try large hoops, concentric rings, medallions for earrings. Medallions will also work well for pendants. The bigger the better! The retro 1960's look is what you need to be on the look out for.

The Tones -- Warm

Warm is in this season, but that does not rule out the classy look of a more cooling tone. Warm reds and rich oranges will do well this fall. Team it up with an Olive and you've got a great mix 'n' match. If you still prefer the classy look then stick to the pastels and the cooler shades like a watery blue or a light pink. For a look of even higher class, deep purples set in matte grey will do the trick.

The Look -- Mix 'n' Match

This season is all about textures, layers and interesting materials being brought together to for interesting pieces of fashion jewelry. So go with it. Use your imagination and your creative eye, look for combination fashion jewelry or better still pick up different types and put them together yourself. Textured metals with silk cords and wood or metals with suede make interesting, eye-catching combinations.

The Materials -- Natural all the way

Back to nature looks like the motto for fashion jewelry this fall. Natural materials like stones, shells, wood are being exploited this season to form so exquisite pieces of jewelry. The 'go green' bug seems to have hit the jewelry market too. Fresh water pearls, jade, agate and turquoise and mother of pearl seem to be in great demand on the jewelry front.

The Choice -- Yours

The impact for the season -- Bold. But if you're not the bold type, no fears, understated fashion jewelry will do just fine. If you do decide on the bold look though then this is what you should be wearing -- big and dramatic pieces of jewelry that stand out and become the focal point of what you are wearing. Mixing the pleasing styles of the 70's along with the dual tones geometrics that were predominant in the 60's will go well with the season. If you would like to stick with the understated look then small crystals, light metals and grey / dark grey tones will work well for a day look.

Having said all of this, the possibilities with fashion jewelry are endless. You have the tips, make them work for you!<bio>Queen Bee Jewelry offers a great selection of Women's Jewelry including Fashion Jewelry and Sterling Silver Jewelry.
There is nothing easy about the life of a fashion designer. As with any andquot;luxuryandquot; career, such as one in the world of sports or music, or haute cuisine, very few actually have what it takes to succeed and make a name for themselves.

For each successful fashion designer that makes it in the highly competitive world of fashion design such as Armani, Lauren or Herrera, there are literally hundreds of thousands that don't make the grade. However, the good news is that there are many other avenues in the fashion design world open for those who have a talent to lend and a desire to work hard.

Most people who are serious about the area of fashion design show an aptitude and leaning towards fashion early in life. They have an eye for fashion. They have sewn a few garments and counseled their friends on fashion. Some may not be able to actually design fashion, but they can put together a look and have an ability to see the newest hottest fashions coming down the pike.

For those serious about a career in fashion attending a fashion design school is a must. Fashion design is definitely a career where you start from the bottom and work up to the top.

Fashion design schools round out and can clarify for a student their particular area of fashion expertise. Most high paying jobs in the fashion world such as fashion merchandiser or fashion coordinator require education and experience. A year BA degree from an accredited fashion school is the first requirement. To work in fashion merchandising or marketing some require along with the BA in fashion a Masters in Business Administration or MBA.

There are many fine fashion design schools to choose from. Some of the most revered fashion design schools are Wood-Tobe-Coburn School of Fashion Design in New York City and the International Academy of Design and Technology located in Montreal, Quebec.

Once you have obtained the required fashion design education the real work starts. This is obtaining the necessary experience, which will require perseverance and hard work. <bio>To learn more about http://www.schoolguideusa.com/brooks-college.html please visit http://www.schoolguideusa.com/fashion-design-schools.html </bio>

Ralph Lauren Perfume Is Probably Not Worn By Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren is the perfume, the polo shirt, the GT Coupe collection, the ethical haute couture brand, the bedding, the "every sort of luxury goods" company.

Ralph Lauren started his business in 1976 and his main preoccupation has always been the fashion industry. After five years, in 1981 he created his first product for women and it was the launching of feminine perfume in the market.

Ralph Lauren perfumes contains a wide range of fragrances, to suit the world wide variety of women. And anyway, one perfume cannot cope with all of the moods and situations a woman might choose to enjoy. So characteristically for an haute couture perfume creator, there is a wide range of perfumes and packages to choose from:-

Blue, Glamorous, Lauren Style, Polo Sport, Pure Turquoise, Ralph, Ralph Cool, Ralph Hot, Ralph Rocks, Romance.

If all of this sounds fine you can start in your local department store, perfumerie, chemist, or whatever. Your aim should be to try to find something that suits you. And then : follow up by shopping online.

You will have avoided the big bind with perfumes =96 you need to try before you buy, but you also need to avoid the department store rip-off, where high prices rule beyond good reason.

Before you buy, check to see that the online perfume store has a Privacy Policy and some sort of customer service phone number or email. You could also try out sites like eBay but beware of cheats and copies, and remember that there isn't much consumer protection on the ebay site; you are very much on your own. Deal with a firm that has a physical address, and a reputation that it cares to keep.

Ralph Lauren perfumes are very pricey. If you have your heart set on a particular Ralph Lauren perfume, wait before buying it. Or better yet, drop hints to your nearest and dearest, wait until your birthday, anniversary or winter holiday comes round and hope that your hints pay off. <bio>Chas and Steve write a variety of articles on France, wines, Diet and Perfume.
Midway through the last century, fashion and style began to take on a much more complex connection to the social issues of the day. When the Beatles exploded on the scene in the early 60's, style became much more tightly connected to point of view and political persuasion than at any time in the past. As time has gone on, the fashion world has been increasingly vocal about many of the social problems of the day.

One of the first points of contact between fashion and social issues was the Vietnam War and the developing opposition to that conflict. Invariably, those strongly opposed to the war wore their hair long and favored tie-dyed "hippie" clothes while those who supported the conflict wore their hair short and chose clothes that were much more conservative in nature.

When the opposition succeeded in hastening an end to the Vietnam conflict, it seemed only natural that these activists (as they were now called) would turn their attention to other pressing social issues and style and fashion offered several flashpoints which could be exploited.

Animal rights activists came down hard on the fashion industry for supporting the cruel capture and killing of animals in order to support many of the popular styles of the day including furs, minks and other clothing. This led to a number of consumer boycotts and those wearing the clothing were often confronted on the street.

It was about this time that Hollywood began to inject itself much more strongly into social issues and thus began a long line of actors and actresses who would take strong stands on these issues and again, the fashion world was the perfect target.

When the United States began to lose its' once predominant position in the textile industry, most of the industry shifted to lesser developed parts of the world where working conditions often approached "sweatshop" status. With Hollywood taking the lead, consumers boycotted many of the companies that used these ill-treated workers to make the garments and, in many cases, succeeded in changing company policy. This type of boycott was especially successful in getting companies to stop doing business with areas of the world that employed child labor under unusually harsh conditions.

In today's world, fashion is becoming more closely aligned with the Green movement and it is becoming fashionable these days to be "eco-chic" and this trend appears to be gaining momentum. As consumers become more educated about the complexities of the garment business, they will want to know about all the details that are involved in getting clothing to the marketplace and will expect to get the same level of transparency from clothing companies that they now expect from the food industry.

Fashion and style, in the past, were all about creating an image but now that image can also include the personal value set of the wearer and it looks as if this connection between fashion and social issues is here to stay.<bio>The Teacher (aka John Pawlak) has been involved in education for over 25 years. He has developed a series of fashion websites which include: Juicy Couture clothing, handbags, footwear and accessories The Fashion Universe Timepiece Collections</bio>

In a world extraordinarily focused on outward appearance, we need only to open a magazine or turn on our televisions to see the latest and greatest fashion trend; it walks the red carpet, checks out a movie premier, and heads out nightly to the hottest restaurants. And we, as a society always mindful of what's popular, follows dutifully along, eager to purchase the "must have" item of the season. But, ultimately, the fashion style that works best for us is that which looks good on our particular body and reflects our very individual personality.

As anyone who follows the fashion industry will tell you, trends come and go. What is one year's hot item is the next season's fashion "don't." Designers present their newest lines and before you know it stores are carrying these clothes in every conceivable variation. And then, just as quickly, they're gone. It's almost impossible to keep pace. Luckily, the fashion style that makes the most sense on an individual level is the fashion style that reflects who we are as people; and that never goes out of style.

The most important thing to remember is that just because a particular fashion style is popular at the moment does not mean that it will look good on your particular body. Wearing something just for the sake of wearing it ultimately goes against the principles of fashion. A fashion style that you choose to wear should be something that accentuates your positives, downplays your negatives, and complements the overall line of your body.

Take the time to get to know your body and what styles work best with it. Assess your body objectively; if you have trouble spots, look for cuts and fabrics that camouflage what you need them to camouflage; if you are on the shorter side, look for a fashion style that elongates your body; and always choose colors that complement your skin tone.

Once you find a style that works =96 stick with it and add your personal touches to reflect your personality; that is the best fashion style you can possibly wear. <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about fashion style visit our ezGuide 2 http://fashion.ezguide2.com </bio>

The world of fashion is one that has the eyes and ears of a vast amount of people; we watch television, read magazines, and stay tuned to see what the rich and famous are wearing from day to day -- and we follow suit. Fashion can change perceptions, impact an entire retail economy, and influence a generation. It's no wonder that more and more people are interested in joining the world of fashion design.

Fashion design entails the creation and manufacturing of clothing styles. Fashion designers work based on seasons -- they design, create, and then introduce their line of clothing on the fashion runways. The clothing that is well-received suddenly makes its way to Hollywood where actors and actresses come decked out in the latest fashion to the latest movie premiers. And what happens on that carpet trickles down to the masses making its way to retail outlets all over the country in more affordable forms.

Fashion design can be a fantastic career journey but it requires a vast amount of skill, education, and hard work. Those interested in fashion design should already possess an innate ability to create beautiful design and effectively communicate them on paper. Such creative fashion enthusiasts should be sure to supplement their skill with formalized education. A fashion design school will teach the fundamentals of design, drawing to scale, textiles, fabrics, sewing, and manufacturing. An education such as this can open up many doors in fashion design.

Following a school program -- or even in conjunction with a school program -- those pursuing a career in fashion design should be sure to involve themselves in an internship or apprenticeship with a reputable design house. The experience gained in this capacity is unmatched and will begin building your portfolio -- your most important tool in a fashion design career.

Fashion design can be a wonderful career filled with adventure, creativity, and a chance to influence clothing choices all across the nation and even around the world. <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about fashion design visit our ezGuide 2 http://fashion.ezguide2.com </bio>

When you dream as a child about what you want to be when you grow up, fashion designer ranks high on the list for many who envision a glamorous lifestyle and a chance to influence the way society dresses. Being a fashion designer certainly does come with its benefits; but it is also a career that requires a balance between creativity and skill.

We need only to turn on the television or flip the pages of a magazine to see how fashion influences our culture. The way we dress on a daily basis, the clothing we run to the stores to purchase, all depend on what's popular on the runways. And what's popular on the runways is created by fashion designers. A fashion designer creates a look and makes it happen. But what people don't see, as models strut the runway wearing the latest designs, is the enormous amount of work and skill that it takes to get to that bright shining moment.

A fashion designer must not only be skilled in the manufacturing of clothing =96 including knowledge of textiles and expertise in sewing =96 but also in sketching and drawing their designs. The savvy fashion designer understands color and how to use it to capture the essence of their design.

Becoming a fashion designer means attending a reputable school that teaches design, sewing, textiles, and the like. It is imperative that you learn the fundamentals of design before you add your own creativity and flair. Even more important, however, is the working knowledge that you can gain working as an intern or apprentice in an established shop. Working alongside a fashion designer who can give you firsthand experiences and help you build your portfolio is incredibly important to becoming a fashion designer. It's all about experience. So take all that you can from school but put your skills to use =96 everywhere and anywhere that you can. A strong portfolio that demonstrates your talent and desire to work in the industry will go a long way to helping you realize your dream of becoming a fashion designer. <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about fashion career visit our ezGuide 2 http://fashion.ezguide2.com </bio>
