Make sure you buy the right one!

Shopping for a music stand is easy. Deciding which music stand will fit your needs might not be as easy.

To shop for a music stand all you have to do is go to a music store or do an online search. If you walk into a music store you'll see the music stands the prices for each. If you do an online search, you can see pictures of the music stands that are out there and again find out how much each one is. That is the easy part.

The hard part is figuring out which music stand you need. There are several different music stands that are designed very differently.

The opera stand is an illuminated music stand for the opera singer. The stem on it is designed so that it does not interfere with the opera singer's feet if they sit down. The opera stands can be nested together for easy storage.

The wooden stand is made to match a modern or historic concert hall. These stands are made of polished metal stems and natural wood trays. These stands nest together for compact storage also. The jazz stand is a music stand that folds. It will fold down to the size of the tray. It is an adjustable stand for sitting or standing to play or sing. To store them, they will stand right next to each other or you can store them folded. If they are folded, they store one right on top of another.

The school music stand is designed for students. It is unbreakable. It does not have knobs, but rather raises and lowers easily. It has an extra lip on the tray for pencils and erasers. These also nest together for easy storage.

The studio stand is a modern looking stand for all types of musicians. It is like the opera stand, except it does not have the light attached to it. It is designed so that if the musician swings their legs, they will not knock the stand over. Like many of the other music stands, they are designed to be nested together for storage.

The scherzo stand is a foldable stand. It is made of aluminum. The aluminum makes it very lightweight for easy transportation. Now that you know how each music stand is designed, you can decide which music stand will work best for your music needs. <bio>http://www.musicstandworld.com is filled with music stand articles and wooden music stand resources </bio>

If you are a classical musician, opera singer, jazz performer, or pop group, you may have grown up dreaming of one day performing at the world famous Carnegie Hall. For over a hundred years, Carnegie Hall has been a status symbol of the highest echelons of musical taste and appreciation.

Carnegie Hall bears the name of Andrew Carnegie, who originally had it built to house the Oratorio Society of New York and the New York Symphony Society. Carnegie, who was famous for his philanthropy, served on the boards of both organizations. The great hall opened its doors on May 5, 1891 and featured the famous composer Peter Tchaikovsky conducting his musical works.

Quite a prestigious beginning for a music hall. Over the years, many famous performers have appeared at Carnegie Hall, such as Duke Ellington, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Yo-Yo Ma and yes, even the Beatles!

Carnegie Hall houses three concert halls and a museum. The Main Hall seats 2,804 people and is five levels. If you don't want to walk up 100+ stairs, you can always take the elevator. This is where all the big concerts are held. The acoustics are marvelous. The late classical violinist, Isaac Stern, once said about the acoustics "It takes what you do and makes it larger than life."

The love that Isaac Stern had for Carnegie Hall is evident as you'll see that the Main Hall is now called the Isaac Stern Auditorium. Believe it or not, Carnegie Hall was slated for demolition in 1960, but due to the efforts of Stern, it was saved and eventually purchased by the City of New York for $5 million.

The other two halls are much smaller and suitable for more intimate performances. Zankel Hall seats 599 and the newer Weil Hall seats 268. You can also visit the Rose Museum, which houses the Carnegie Archives, artifacts and memorabilia of the buildings history and performances.

When you reach the great hall, located at Seventh Avenue and West 57th Street, you'll immediately admire its Italian Renaissance style architecture. The hall was even designed by a musician, an amateur cellist named William Tuthill.

Just a short walk around the corner is the Steinway Building, which displays some beautifully crafted Steinway pianos, the same type of pianos that are often used by Carnegie Hall performers.

There are over 100 performances a season held at Carnegie Hall. If you have your heart set on attending a concert there, be aware that you'll need to buy your tickets way in advance, because they tend to sell out quickly. If you are lucky enough to attend an event at Carnegie, you'll enjoy some of the world's finest musical performances while admiring its splendor. <bio>Cruise the beautiful Hawaiian Islands =96 even if you're on a budget http://www.last-minute-hawaii-cruise.com </bio>

One of the most important things you need to consider during your wedding planning is the decorations of your reception hall. In fact, you have to consider a lot of issues when you are designing the decorations. The first thing you have to do is of course to ask if there is any restriction on the decorations from the venue. Of course you will also need to think about your budget. If you are on a tight budget, you may need to purchase the decoration materials and decorate the reception hall yourself.

When you are thinking of the decorations, you should also consider your wedding theme. You have to make sure that the decorations will match your wedding theme. This is probably the most important thing for the design of your reception hall decoration.

If your budget allows, you should consider hiring a company to help you to decorate your reception hall. This is because you will be already very busy planning your every detail of your wedding. You will not really have the time to decorate the hall yourself. If you have some ideas for your decoration in mind, you should discuss with the decoration company so that they can help you to do what you want to do. However, it is also very important for you to hire a company which is of very good reputation. This is very essential when you are choosing the wedding vendors. You should always stick to companies which are of good reputations.

You may consider decorating your reception hall based on your hobbies. This can be a very interesting idea. However, even if you do so, you have to make sure that the decorations will match your wedding theme. Of course you can also make your wedding theme based on your hobbies and this will certainly make your reception a unique and special one.

For example, if you are someone who loves oil painting very much, you can decorate your reception hall such that it will look like an oil painting gallery. This will certainly make your reception extremely unique.

On the other hand, if you love taking photos, you may decorate your reception hall and make it look like a photo gallery. Of course in this case you will not just get some photos and put them in the reception hall. You will try to choose photos taken by yourself and put them in the hall. This will make your reception more interesting. Your guests will be amazed when they know that the photos were taken by you. You will make your wedding reception an exhibition of your own work!

However, you have always bear in mind that if you try to decorate your reception hall based on your hobbies, you should never just do something and pretend that it is your hobby. If you are not a person who loves painting, you should not make your reception hall like an art gallery. This is because you are trying to make your wedding reflect your hobbies, as well as personalities. You will just miss the point if you just make something up!<bio>TM Lung designs Free Wedding Invitation Templates.
Any social event that features music played with country styled musical instruments is sure to draw large crowds. Musical instruments such as the fiddle, banjo, and guitar have been featured during live performances at the Grand Ole Opry and are favored by country music artists in recording studios around the world. These musical instruments are not easy to use at first, but they are the most preferred musical instrument modes to bring country styled music to people around the world.

People believe that guitars, banjos, and fiddles should be easy to play if they are meant to supply country styled music sounds. That outlook changes when players must figure out how to make the music tones change after a few strums on the chords. Then aspiring musicians realize that there is a lot of practice involved to produce quality country music sounds worth listening to.

The effort of learning to strum each of these musical instruments might be too much for some, because the intricacies of playing the musical instruments is greater than expected, and people do not want to waste money learning how to play them. It takes months of practice to render music of better quality, and even more practice will be required to play good enough for a public performance. Most students learn the basic chords while playing these music instruments in high school.

To an untrained ear, country musical instruments might sound in tune when they truly are not. A country music fan will know if the musician knows their stuff when they are able to play country styled musical instruments such as the violin and banjo and produce musical sounds that sound just like a train coming down the tracks. When this type of country music sound is produced on a stage in front of a live audience, the crowd will typically show how good the music feels by clapping hands and stomping feet while the chords are being released in unison on the stage.

Country music gets even livelier when drums are introduced to the music score. Audiences are likely to get up and start dancing when these country styled musical instruments are heard. The clapping is likely to get very loud during some portions of a country music show and fans will show their appreciation for a good performance by giving standing ovations at the end of the show. Drums are not down home country music instruments but are percussion styled instruments that can be used to create country styled spirit in music scores.

The true sounds of country music can be derived from two country styled musical instruments. Early settlers used to rely on everyday items around the house to produce musical sounds at social events. Items such as a washboard and a jug of moonshine have been used to spice up parties in many ways. After the daily wash chores were finished, women could be seen congregating with friends for a mid-afternoon party. The rhythms created after many days of wash would be introduced to guests when they came over for a Saturday night filled with dancing.<bio>James Brown writes about ProSound and Stage Lighting coupon, InstrumentPro.com coupon and Musician's Friend coupon</bio>

If a person is looking to host a wedding reception, banquet Halls in greater Toronto area offer exceptional locations. Banquet halls in Toronto differ in many ways, but with the right information, one can select the perfect location for their wedding. Policies, facilities, quality and location are all critical determinants in procuring the perfect wedding reception location. Spread out throughout Ontario, these wedding banquet halls cover the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), as well as other cities, which include Brampton, Scarborough, Mississauga, Niagara Falls, Markham, and other cities that bound this area. There are online directories that offer listings of banquet halls across Ontario province and host all sizes of weddings, from large to small, in comfort and style. When considering hiring a Toronto banquet hall for one's wedding, the number of guests should act as guide to the size of the wedding banquet hall. If the wedding budget allows, upscale ballrooms or banquet halls in upmarket hotels offer an ideal and romantic wedding location. Once this is accomplished, the guest sitting arrangement and the food serving area should be clearly demarcated, to avoid delays. In addition to this, these areas should be well laid out within the wedding theme and arrangements to facilitate free movement within the banquet hall.

Two of the more focused periods during a wedding are the serving of food and the dancing to music. Therefore, a clearly marked dance floor is key to a successful wedding reception, because if the banquet hall is cluttered then there will be the inevitable mix ups which can lead to accidents. It is advisable to book your wedding banquet hall at least six months in advance, once you have located the best one for you budget and wedding guest size. This tends to be the hardest part to wedding planning, so once this is accomplished, your Toronto wedding has a venue to be held. It is often said that it is time consuming and expensive to rent and decorate a Toronto banquet hall, securing entertainment, choosing a caterer, selecting the menu, the creation and sending out of invitations.
.
Nevertheless, in the Greater Toronto Area banquet halls reduce these activities to manageable portions and deal with them in a professional manner. This is achieved by getting in contact with a reputable Toronto banquet hall facility with attached in house wedding planning expertise. The processes of arranging a wedding reception are simplified massively, at the same time creating festive and attractive environments and atmospheres to hold your special and magnificent Toronto wedding. This all but leaves you with the task of attending your wedding! When getting in contact with a Toronto banquet hall facility, the events that will be participated therein should be taken into consideration. A wedding DJ, orchestra, or band will be in order for music and dancing purposes, while some banquet hall locations in the greater Toronto area offer chapel services within the banquet hall location for an all in one wedding hosting. Chaplain and other chapel services come as standard in these banquet hall-chapel services offers.<bio>Banquet Halls in Toronto Your guide to Banquet Facilities and Reception Halls for your Wedding and Corporate Events Venues visit: http://www.videobabylon.ca/best-wishes.html</bio>

A CD set is a precious collection of music, videos or films that are one of its kind. When you lay your hands on the popular CD set, what you have with you is collection which you would compromise for no other thing. CD sets are available in a wide assortment and are very much popular compared to the conventional LP players, which seem to be obsolete, and Medias like cassettes.

The quality of a CD, its cost and storage capacity are the attributes that have made it incredibly popular. Of the wide assortments of titles, albums and other collections available in the CD sets, one of the popular sets are the country CD set collections.

Country music is an amalgamation of popular musical styles that has its roots in traditional folk music from the South. With Nashville sound, bluegrass, western ballads, swing, Cajun, honky tonk, Appalachian, rockabilly and jug band music, the country music has reached to new pinnacles of success and popularity. Country music for some is enchanting, and for other truly rejuvenating and though there are various styles of country music, it is distinctive in the way its style is done to effect.

There can be many variations that the country music allows, and several songs are recorded to fit the style of country music and those who sing it. Some of the famous country music singers, who played a vital role in its popularity, include Bob Wills, Willie Nelson and George Strait. It is their music that has led the music listeners to be mesmerized by the rhythms and the composition of the chords. To endow this form of music, many songs adapted to suit the country music style.

One of the fine examples are the Milk Cow Blues tune which is an early blues tune composed by Kokomo Arnold. In fact, the renowned singers like Bob Wills, Willie Nelson, and George Strait have all sung their own versions of the Milk Cow Blues Tune.

The success and popularity of the country music can be credited to Vernon Dalhart record "The Wreck of Old 97," which was released in the year 1924 and was a huge success. This was when the Country music really took off.

To add more glory to the music form other singers like Riley Pucket, Fiddling John Carson and Charlie Poole joined the country western scene, making it more popular. Till this date, the popularity of country music is unscathed and continues to grow.

You can have all your favorite country music records on a CD set. This indeed becomes your valuable treasure and that is why it is very essential to take utmost care of your CD sets. A few simple steps will preserve and maintain your CD sets for uninterrupted listening experience. Here are some instructions on taking care of your CD sets.

When you get a CD set, it usually comes in a protective case meant to keep the CD's in a proper condition. It is therefore advisable never to loose these cases as CD's without them can get scratches and can catch dust. If you somehow loose these cases or boxes, immediately shift the CD set CD's into a CD pouch meant to keep them in proper order and condition. It is very essential to keep the CD set away from heat, magnets and direct sunlight.

All these elements can ruin your precious CD set. It is better to make an additional copy or to store all the content in the CD sets to your PC. An additional copy comes handy and even if the original set is lost or ruined you don't loose the content. Often wipe the surface of the CD's with a soft cloth to get rid of unwanted dust particles. Dust can also pose as a threat to your CD sets. <bio>For more information visit our website http://www.cd-sets.com </bio>

Shows are held every Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. During the months of April - December, students may also catch a show on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Special performance programs can be scheduled to provide groups with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform in the Opry Plaza, adjacent to the Grand Ole Opry Museum.

While Nashville is known as the country music capital of the world, many rock, pop, and soul records have been recorded here as well. A visit to the Musicians Hall of Fame showcases the broader form of music known throughout the world. Some of the famous hall of fame inductees are Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and No Doubt - all who have recorded in Nashville.

Nashville is also the home of the world's largest floating musical theater, the General Jackson Showboat. The ship measures 300 feet in length and boasts four massive decks. Casual mid-day cruises feature a comedy and country music show performed in the two-story theater located in the center of the boat. Students can also admire the views of the Cumberland River from the decks. A student performance area is available in the boarding area.

While there's no shortage of music-related attractions in Nashville, the destination also features its share of historic sites. Belle Meade Plantation is not only an 1853 Greek revival mansion; it was once a world-renowned Thoroughbred horse breeding farm. In fact, the bloodlines of Sea Biscuit, Funny Cide, Smarty Jones, and Barbarro began here. Surrounding historic outbuildings include the 1890s carriage house and stables, as well as an original 1790s log cabin.

The plantation is also home to the Belmont Mansion, built in 1853. The mansion has been recognized as one of the most elaborate and unusual homes in the South. Its original owner, Adelicia Acklen, secretly conspired with both the Confederate and Union forces to emerge from the Civil War with her fortune intact. The mansion's Grand Salon is considered the most elaborate domestic room built in antebellum Tennessee.

Cheekwood, with its 55 acres, is more than a historic site. The estate was built by the Maxwell House Coffee fortune and has beautiful gardens and fine art exhibits. The botanical garden showcases horticultural collections, while the Museum of Art presents American and European art and is recognized as a center for contemporary art in the Southeast. A wide range of curriculum tours are available for student groups.

In addition to area attractions, Nashville offers a variety of performance opportunities through its festival events for bands, drill teams, choirs, and more. What could be more exciting for students than to perform on one of the many famous stages of Music City? Music Festivals and Gaylord Opryland Resort host Nashville On Stage for show choirs, held at the Grand Ole Opry. Classic concert choirs perform at the Gaylord Opyrland Resort and Convention Center. An awards dinner follows aboard the General Jackson Showboat. Other music festivals include the American Musical Salute, Heritage Music Festival, and the Nashville Music Festival. Cheer and dance drill teams can hone their skills at events such as Cheer and Dance Drill Team America in the spring or the Christmas Dance Spectacular, featuring the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes.<bio>travel adventures Travel Adventures is a student tour provider staffed by educators who understand the needs of teachers.
I want to give you a challenge. Find me a country that does not have music of some kind. Search anywhere you like. Explore the jungles of South America, make your way through African tribes, or discover the peoples of South Asia. No matter where you visit I guarentee you this: every country will, without doubt, have some form of music. Their people will make music, play music, and move to music.

>From California to China, people love music. There is something about music that is core to humanity. What makes a little baby respond to the soft humming of its mother? Or what makes an old woman on the streets of India turn to the sound of a drum? Music is truly a language that is spoken by every person on the earth.

There are many reasons that people love the sound of good music. Music moves us. There is something about the beat of a drum or the rhythm of an orchestra that can cause people of all ages to stand to their feet and move. We are so affected by sound, and when that sound is pleasing to us it forces a response. That response can be the simple clapping of hands or it can be the dancing of our entire bodies.

People all around the world also love music because it is beautiful. There is nothing more amazing then going to an opera or than seeing a symphony orchestra perform. Even the sounds of our favorite album playing in our car remind us that when we hear music, we are encountering some element of sheer beauty. We cannot quite define why music sounds beautiful to our ears, but I have yet to meet a person who does not like one kind of music or another.

That is another great thing about music: it is diverse. You can love classical music, country music, or rock and roll music. Some people prefer music with only a simple melody while others enjoy music with many complicated notes and sounds. What is beautiful to one person may not be called beautiful to another. And that is a beautiful thing.

Music connects people to events and helps them to remember some of life's most significant events. I'll bet you remember the first song you and your spouse danced to, and I bet you can name the song that played the first time you drove a car by yourself. Music is great that way. We can define entire seasons of our life based on the kind of music that we enjoyed during that time. Every one has been with a parent when an "oldies" song comes on the radio and the parent begins singing out the lines of the song, remembering with fondess their younger years.

>From Africa to Alabama to Argentina, music is an important element of culture. By it we define people and countries. Sometimes we enjoy the style, sometimes we would rather not hear it, but most of the time we all agree that music is a wonderful thing. Our lives would be very different and our world a less unified place if we didn't have music. <bio>Rachael Cleipher believes in the power of music to transcend all cultural barriers.
Musicians for your Wedding

Another important part of organizing the music for your wedding is choosing musicians to play the music you have chosen. If you have a family member who is an excellent musician, you may want to have them play a piece for your wedding ceremony, but be sure to steer clear of being talked into having your second cousin's daughter playing if you are not sure of her skills. If choosing a family member, make sure that you have heard them play and that they are qualified to play your wedding music or you may end up in a wedding day disaster.

The musicians that you hire for your wedding may depend on what style of music you have chosen for your wedding. If you are going for a very classical style of music you may want to hire a string quartet or a brass or woodwind quintet. If you want your processional to have organ music, then you may need to hire an organist as well. You may also want to hire a pianist for your wedding, especially if you are having people sing in your wedding. If the wedding is an important part of your ceremony, make sure that you can have at least some of the musicians available at the wedding rehearsal to make sure that everything goes smoothly the next day.

Choosing a DJ

Many people decide to choose a DJ for their wedding reception instead of live music because it is a great deal cheaper than hiring a full band and usually you can get a greater variety of music as well. There are many DJs to choose from for your wedding reception, but you want to make sure that you get the very best. When choosing a DJ you may want to check with friends and family who have had weddings recently and see if they have a recommendation. You can also check with a wedding planner or even with your reception hall to see if they have any DJs that they would recommend.

Once you have a few names for consideration you will want to interview each of the DJs and ask to see video of any weddings they have done in the past. Make sure that you get along well and that the DJ is easy to work with and will take your suggestions. Other things to check into when hiring a DJ is the cost, making sure they will be dressed appropriately, and the amount of experience they have doing weddings.

Remember that your wedding is your special day, and you want to make sure that everything goes well. Make sure that you pick the music you want for your wedding and find musicians and DJs that are experienced and professional. You want your wedding day to be perfect, so spend time in the beginning choosing the right music and the right people to perform that music at your wedding. A little time spent before your wedding deal with choosing and organizing your music can save you from a wedding day disaster. <bio>Visit http://www.soundimagedjs.com/ for a great Sacramento Wedding DJ </bio>

In the early 1950's a Cleveland disc jockey named Alan Freed coined the term "rock and roll" and a new musical and cultural movement started. It is fitting that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame now thrives in Cleveland, offering visitors and students a chance to learn more about the music that has helped to shape the culture of today. Here is a brief guide of this outstanding attraction's offerings.

Located on Cleveland's lakefront on Lake Erie, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is dedicated to exploring the past, present and future of contemporary music. The museum continually augments its own collection of thousands of artifacts with items on loan from artists and collectors from around the world. More than 55,000 square-feet of exhibition space, as well as administrative offices, the Museum Store and a café are also located on the grounds.

More than 6,000,000 visitors have toured the museum since its September 1995 opening.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is a 150,000 square-foot building which utilizes film, video, interactive kiosks and, of course, music. Its Outdoor Plaza spans 65,000 square feet and its exhibition area covers 55,000 square feet. It is the world's first museum dedicated to the living heritage of rock and roll music.

The museum houses intimate performance spaces, as well as a rotating display of artifact and costumes from the museum's permanent collection. Specific eras, styles and milestones are showcased, highlighting the many facets of rock and roll's evolution.

Exhibits are designed to provide the visitor with a unique, interactive experience. The collection of artifacts and costumes is enhanced by the combination of state-of-the-art technology and innovative film and video. The Museum offers a comprehensive retrospective on rock and roll's origins, development, legends and immense impact on global culture.

Visitors are taken on a fast-paced journey through the history of rock and roll music, from one-hit wonders to legendary inductees, from its roots in gospel, country and blues to the important local music scenes in such cities as Memphis, Detroit and San Francisco.

Some displays are devoted to the pioneering rock and roll artists of the Fifties, the soul artists of the Sixties, the political protests against rock and roll and interplay between fashion and rock.

The programs include a variety of educational and cultural events, including a series of year-round concerts. The Hall of Fame series features evenings with Rock Hall Inductees. There are educational programs for everyone from toddlers to students, to teachers and adults in general.

The building was designed by the internationally renowned architect I.M. Pei. A striking state-of-the-art facility that rises above the shores of Lake Erie, its composition features bold geometric forms and dynamic cantilevered spaces that are anchored by a 162-foot tower. The tower supports a dual-triangular-shaped glass "tent" that extends (at its base) onto a 65,000 square-foot plaza, providing a dramatic main entry facade.

I.M. Pei, one of the world's most famous architects, also designed the National Gallery of Art's East Building in Washington, DC, the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston, the Museum of Modern Art in Athens, and the expansion of the Louvre in Paris, among many other buildings around the world.

The Hall of Fame's visiting hours are: 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily (open until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays). It is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. From Memorial

Day to Labor Day, the Museum is also open until 9 p.m. on Saturdays.

If you are interested in student group travel within the Midwest, then the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be on your list of "must see" destinations. It will certainly be a "big hit" with your students.<bio>Travel Adventures is a student tour provider staffed by educators who understand the needs of teachers.
There's nothing like a music box; those haunting melodies that can instantly take us back in time. The song of a music box sounds like history; maybe because they have always been a fixture in homes throughout the centuries. Perhaps that is why the antique music box seems so fitting. It is though the music box has been restored to its original form; and in taking its place in our homes, tells the story of a life steeped in history.

The first music box was made by Swiss watchmaker, Antoine Favre in 1796, and acted as a rudimentary record player of sorts, allowing owners to enjoy and entertain with music in their homes. Music boxes continue to evolve under the guidance of their native country. Even as other regions began to design their own music boxes, the Swiss still enjoyed the credit for this miraculous invention. Even today, many an antique music box is referred to simply as a Swiss music box.

Depending on the time period in which the antique music box was made, you will surely enjoy a variety of period music. In this way, the antique music box acts as a time capsule of sorts, capturing the specific nuances - both in design and melody - of that very particular time in history.

While it can be a valuable and treasured item, the antique music box does not come without its challenges - mainly in the area of repair. Repairing an antique music box - because of its intricate and long outdated parts - can be difficult. It's important to find a reputable and skilled professional to repair or service your antique music box. You may look to those stores that sell contemporary music boxes; many times the owners and operators of these stores are music box enthusiasts and have knowledge of the complexities of the antique music box.

Keeping your antique music box in proper working condition will allow you to enjoy it for a lifetime and even pass it down to future generations who can then have the opportunity to hold history in their hand. <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about music box visit our ezGuide 2 http://musicbox.ezguide2.com </bio>

Free copyright music is often mistaken with free public domain music or music in which the copyright has expired. A copyright is in place for the lifetime of the author plus 70 years. If more than one songwriter has authored the music, then the copyright will be in effect for 70 years after the death of the last surviving contributor.

This copyright law was created to ensure that the heirs of the songwriter would also benefit from the royalties after the music's writer or composer was no longer living. It is important to remember that these laws are the current laws; music written at different points in time are most likely subject to different copyright laws. When searching for free copyright music it is always a good idea to search through music that is very old rather than focusing your search on more recent musical selections, as they will most likely still be protected under copyright.

When using free copyright music or public domain music, you must be certain the copy you are using is within the copyright period. Any music published before 1922 is public domain music. This does not, however, include derivatives or new versions of that music which may still be under copyright protection. Finding a copy of the music with the copyright date included, if that date is prior to 1922, is the best route to ensure you are complying with current copyright laws and you not infringing on someone else's copyright.

Written music is protected differently than recorded music. Almost every sound recording copyrighted in the United States is protected until 2067. If you need a sound recording you should either purchase one or make one of your own. You can find many free copyright music by searching on Google; which allows free use of the music and free of any royalty payments.

Copyright laws in the United States are different than they are in other countries. If you wish to use music that is or was under copyright in another country, then you must follow the laws that apply to the particular piece of music. Free copyright music is available in almost every country and many genres; the trick is finding great sources where you can easily find this music.

There is a project called Mutopia, which operates like project Gutenberg. Mutopia provides free copyright music. The Gutenberg project also has a section devoted to free sheet music, in addition to its wonderful resources for books. Each of these projects provides excellent resources to find free copyright music for whatever reason.

Whether you are a musician seeking inspiration from the music of old or hoping to find a composition -- which you can rearrange and make your own -- there are many ways you can achieve your goals that will not violate current copyright laws. The key is learning the copyright laws both where you live and countries in which the music you seek to modify. <bio>Brian Scott is a freelance journalist who covers copyright law for http://www.ResearchCopyright.com.
If you are looking for ways to keep track of your culture and to know what is happening in the lives and minds of the youth of your culture, then there are many resources you need to consider. You can read magazines, watch television, watch the latest movies, or spend time on a university or college campus near you. Another great and inexpensive way to get a handle of this generation is to pay attention to the chart music that is on the radio every day of the week.

Basically, chart music is the top music of our culture. It is the most popular music that is being listened to by the most people. There is chart music in a variety of music genres, and each week the top music of many genres is put on the radio for the whole country to hear. So if you are looking for a way to get up to speed with the youth of our world or even of your own children's world, then tune in to chart music and pay attention to it.

Just how do you pay attention to chart music? Well, the first thing that you need to do is just listen to it. Instead of going for your favorite radio station when you jump in the car each day, find the radio stations that are playing the chart music and listen in to those. Your kids can tell you those popular radio stations if you don't already know. You do not necessarily have to set aside hours of valuable time each week to get to know chart music, instead you can just utilize your time in the car for a different purpose.

Another way to pay attention to chart music is to talk to your kids about the music they are listening. Let them put on music of their choice when they are in the car, and even ask to borrow some of the CD's. Be prepared that you may be offended with their music choices, but determine ahead of time that you are simply trying to use chart music to get a grasp of their lives, not to discipline them in any way. Start really listening to the words of chart music too.

The lyrics in chart music are a huge reflection of what the youth of our nation are thinking about and caring about. So listen up and you may find that you learn a great deal. You may be surprised by the depth of thought and emotion that our youth are experiencing each day. Chart music is a great way for parents to keep a handle on the interests of their kids, so tune your radio into their radio today. <bio>Triston Huntsmin is a family therapist that is always looking for creative ways to help parents engage their children's world. Paying attention to chart music is an effective way. See http://www.chartmusicgroup.info for more on current chart music. </bio>

For more than 25 years, George Strait tickets have been available and in-demand all over the world. Strait's pure country sound may be a tribute to his true-to-roots nature, but that reputation in some ways belies his ability to innovate and to bring his personality and style to every show he plays and every song he releases. A look at Strait's life will shed some light on how his persona came to be.

Early Beginnings

George Harvey Strait was born on May 18, 1952 in Poteet, Texas, but grew up in Pearsall. Strait's father was a school teacher, but they left Pearsall nearly every weekend to work on the family farm. Strait's parents divorced when he was in the fourth grade, and his sister left with his mother, while he and his brother stayed with their father.

When Strait got to high school, he played in his first band, and their style was rock and roll. However, he soon discovered his preference for country music, and he found himself listening to and being influenced by the likes of Merle Haggard, George Jones, Bob Wills and Hank Williams.

Strait finished high school and enrolled in college, but soon dropped out and married his high school sweetheart in Mexico. In 1971, Strait enlisted in the United States Army. While he was stationed in Hawaii, Strait continued to hone his style, playing for an Army-sponsored band called "Rambling Country," and they also used the stage name "Santee."

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Strait returned to school and finished his degree in agricultural studies at Southwest Texas State University. Although Strait was proud to earn his degree, he used this time as well to further his musical development.

Career Beginnings

Strait managed his cattle farm during the day after he finished school, but began to play local honky tonk bars at night. He was soon noticed by record executives, and he signed his first recording contract and released his first album in 1981. The debut was a success, and set the stage for the rest of his career.

Strait's sound was clearly influenced by his classical country heroes, but his style also incorporated a more modern-type of energy. His live shows were also a huge draw, and George Strait tickets soon became a hot item in Texas and all over the country.

Accomplishments

Overall, Strait has sold an estimated 62 million copies of his albums, enjoyed dozens of chart-topping singles and albums, and he has filled his trophy room with awards. Strait has won dozens of Country-and-American Music Awards, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
When I was a kid growing up, vinyl records were the primary source used by music lovers to listen to their favorite songs. Eight tracks had been going out of style fairly rapidly and the latest trend was the cassette tape. Even with the passing of the eight tracks and the emergence of the cassette tape, many music lovers still kept with traditional vinyl records for their listening pleasure.

We have certainly come a long way since those heady days of vinyl records. Compact discs (CDs) are all the rage today, and with good reason. The sound quality is truly pure and clear, and you almost feel as if you are in a sound-proof room when you focus your listening solely on the CD player. The clean, crisp sound that comes out is a huge improvement from the vinyl records that crackled as they played.

However, it is that crackling sound that is only offered by the vinyl records that I find so appealing. There is something about that sound that is so neat and even soothing to listen to especially when I'm in a nostalgic mood. Perhaps it is due to the crackling sound which is tied so closely to the songs I loved when I was a child. I simply cannot separate the two.

I actually took notice of my love for that unique antique sounds of the crackling vinyl records by accident. A really good friend of mine had offered to be the disc jockey for my wedding without charge. Of course I did not refuse the kind wedding gift. However there was a catch. My friend played only vinyl records, nothing else.

This was certainly not a problem for me. I had wanted to skip all of the trendy pop-chart music of today and focus on older dance music and classic songs available on vinyl records. My friend started playing dinner songs at the reception. He chose classic Irish music during the wedding meal.

The whole reception hall had kept silent during the prayer. And once the prayer had ended, the DJ slowly placed the needle on the record and the quiet room began filling up with soft crackling sounds followed by lovely Irish music. The transition was magnificent and the memory of the moment the crackling sounds overtook the reception hall still gives me chills. You simply can not replicate that with a compact disc.

Technologically, we have come a long way when it comes to music. However, we should not completely let go of the little gems from our past. The haunting sounds of the crackling vinyl records help us truly touch the past even if for just a moment. <bio>Glen B.
Some people prefer to meditate silently without any music but there are others who prefer to meditate with music. Different people like different music to meditate by. Some like to have music playing in the background while they meditate while others like the form of meditation that involves making music to meditate by.

Meditation is a simple and easy art and even children can easily practice it. With music to meditate by meditation can be made even more interesting for children. You get a choice of meditation music that is especially meant for children.

Whatever form of meditation you choose, it is important to remember that music to meditate by should be simple, calm, soothing and peaceful. It should induce feelings of inner peace and help you to focus. Loud music to meditate by is destructive and unproductive. It is distracting and creates feelings of chaos. The most popular musical instruments associated with meditation include the sitar, flute, Tibetan singing bow and the tambora.

While some people use music to meditate by, there are many musicians who use meditation to calm themselves and to stay focused before any major performance. If you are using music as a means of meditation, you should try and stop doing everything else and just focus on the music in order to get the full benefits of the music. It also helps you to enjoy the music more.

If you are looking for music to meditate by, there are plenty on online websites that offer different kinds of meditation music that you can buy. Some websites allow you to listen to a sample of the music so you can decide if that is what you are looking for. There are even a few websites that offer free mp3 downloads of music to meditate by. Just do an internet search on meditation music and you are sure to find something that is just right for you. <bio>Find out more about meditation music and lots of other resources to help you http://hubpages.com/hub/Learn_How_To_Meditate learn how to meditate. </bio>

If you're like most people who take piano lessons, you do! ?Whether you're young or old or somewhere in between, you aspire to make beautiful music and... right away!

?You've probably heard the old joke: ? "How do you get to Carnegie Hall?" asks the inquisitive tourist. ?"Practice, practice, practice!" replies the wise old responder.? ?But wouldn't you much prefer to learn the secret to sounding good just for your own satisfaction and enjoyment? ??That's probably why you take piano lessons=85 However, most piano students forget to pay attention to the very areas that would enable them to sound great!

?Do you do one or more of the following?

1. Ignore the timing by not counting or tapping your foot.

2. Play everything at the same volume.

3. Disregard the key signature and just start playing the piece.

4. Use too much pedal.

5. "Type" or bang the keys and disconnect one note from another.

6. Allow the accompaniment (usually the left hand part) to overpower or drown out the melody.

7. Listen to talk radio instead of spending some of your time listening to music.

If you recognized any of the above habits as things you do, congratulations! ?Now you know why you aren't sounding like a pro yet.

(Parents: Have you noticed these traits in your children who take lessons?)

Obviously, you want to sound good! (And you parents want your kids to sound good, don't you?) ??So instead of treating piano practice like a chore, here are seven ways to start you on the way to Carnegie Hall:

1. Pay attention to the timing: count or tap your foot.

2. Notice the dynamics (indications for differences in volume) and follow them.

3. Look at the key signature before you start to play and mark all of the sharps or flats if you need to.

4. Use the pedal with care. (Pedal changes are often marked in classical pieces, and should be made in songs with each chord change.)

5. Employ correct fingering as you work towards playing smoothly and connected (unless the music asks for staccato: detached playing).

6. Listen for the melody. Can you always hear it while you are playing?

7. Focus on spending some time listening to music every week. (With wonderful tools like iPods, MP3 players and the internet, it's easy to find recorded versions of the pieces that you play as well as music that motivates and inspires you.) Give these suggestions a try. ?Start today. ?You'll be surprised at how much better you sound!

Copyright =A9 2007 by Ed Mascari http://www.edmascaripianostudio.com <bio>Ed Mascari has been teaching piano privately to children and adults for nearly three decades.
Picture this: a sunny day. You are at the wheel of your favorite car. The road stretches out enticingly before you. You have time and freedom to drive wherever you want. There is no particular time that you need to be home. The window is open, sending in the cool air as the car pushes forward. Could this be more perfect? Is there anything missing? In a word, yes. And that thing is music!

Driving is a joy, especially when you have all the time in the world, and you are out in the country, with miles to cover. But there's nothing like listening to music on the go. It adds feeling to the driving like nothing else.

The thing you need, though, to listen to music, is a great music system. This sounds simple, but the one thing that many people do when they purchase their system is make a cardinal mistake. And that mistake is to pay to little for their sound system.

A cheap system can do the job in some ways. After all, music is music, right? But the thing that you get with a cheap system is a cheap sound quality which will forever be fighting with the sounds of the car. Not good. This can become annoying very quicly, since passages of music will be drowned out by the sounds of the car as the frequencies interfere with each other.

However, with a more expensive system, the rules change. It's mainly to do with the quality of the speakers. A good pair of speakers will not on;ly generally have more power, but will also give a much better range of sounds, or tones. This means that the music will be much more enjoyable, a greater listening pleasure.

And that's exactly what is needed when the road is clear, the sun is shining and the window is open to the cool fresh air. So when choosing your sound system, don't immediately go for the cheapest option. Check out some of the more expensive models. You won't regret it. <bio>Jon Kilminster writes for http://caraudiohut.info </bio>

Apparently being the runner up in Kenny Chesney's "Next Big Star Competition" in May of 2008 is just the springboard that Country Music's next star needed, as Laura Roppe's debut CD can attest to. The CD "Girl Like This" will soon take the country music scene by storm, as this engaging singer/songwriter is more than just country music ear candy.

For many years, her career in music had taken a back seat to a legal career, marriage and being a mother, but when the 'music itch' became too strong, she resumed her career in music. In 2006, Laura was the lead singer of the popular Southern California cover band CoolBandLuke, belting out cover tunes from artists such as Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Blondie, Lucinda Williams, and Kelly Clarkson. Combining an eclectic mix of influences (such as the Indigo Girls, Carly Simon, Shania Twain among many others) and Laura's unique voice and fresh style, the debut CD is a compelling array of edgy country girl sounds and rare, intoxicating country flavors. Let's explore the music:

The single, "Mama Needs A Girls Night Out," is certain to top mainstream Country Radio and is full of fun country music, memorable lyrics ("babies on the brain" and "put your skinny jeans on") and a "Mom's Gone Wild" chorus that every mother who hears the cut can identify with. And when you add inventive guitar work, titillating fiddle work and stellar musicianship-you have a recipe for success. The title cut, "Girl Like This," combines a Shania Twain-like sassiness with an infectious melody and will be right at home on the Country Music Charts.

"Fly Fly Fly," with Edie Brickel-like vocals, is a fun, country ditty and just makes you tap your foot with anticipation and sing along. "Float Away" may remind some of Jodie Messina, but others may hear vintage Carly Simon and the song is sung with angelic precision and passion. The cut "Little Daughter" may be her signature ballad, with poignant, emotional lyrics that is sung and played with tenderness and warmth that shows you that it is sincere.

Other songs include the sashaying cut "Ooh La La," with great guitar licks adeptly mixed with her unique country growl and spicy solos. "Come To Me" is another fantastic country number, with dreamy lyrics and achingly tender acoustics. "Sing A Love Song" is full of inventive harmonies and an irresistible chorus. And the cut, "Crazy About You And Me," just may be a new look at love gone wrong and has a delicious catchiness to it.

All in all, there is not a weak cut on Laura Roppe's debut CD, "Girl Like This." The music transcends typical country music boundaries and is full of expressive vocals, polished country pop and well-crafted instrumental sections and will certainly take the country music scene by storm.
