Ask a contact lens wearer what is the bane of his or her life and the answer will come pat. It is the daily grind of removing the contact lenses each night and maintaining a regular routine of cleaning the contact lenses to ensure their efficacy is not compromised. Thus the discovery of the Acuvue contact lens has been welcomed by contact lens wearers with open arms.

The arrival of the Acuvue contact lens, first introduced in the late eighties by the firm of Johnson and Johnson, made international headlines as they promised the wearer freedom from the daily grind of contact lens maintenance as its primary advantage. The Acuvue contact lens is the first disposable contact lens to hit the market and has remained on top of the charts in the field of contact lens research and manufacturing.

The disposable contact lens better known as the Acuvue contact lens can be changed daily and allows the wearer the joy of wearing a fresh pair of lenses each morning. Thus there are no messy solutions to be dealt with and no time to be wasted in carefully cleaning out those thin pieces of plastic or glass.

Then with the ongoing research in the field of Acuvue contact lenses in place, these lenses now come fitted with ultra violet ray protection, giving the wearer the advantage of eye protection even in the outdoors.

The makers of this lens have also gone into ensuring that Acuvue lens is handy and easily spotted on the crowded dressing table, by making the lenses with a slight hint of tinting.

This clever scheme helps in locating and handling the Acuvue lenses even when one is not too tidy a person or the dressing table in one's room is actually a place for equipping oneself for a role on stage, chockfull of bottles and brushes, for completing make-up needs.

With so much in store, it did not take long for major manufacturers to switch over from making the durable hard lenses to the Acuvue contact lenses. Today, this product is produced and marketed by major manufacturers around the world and millions of users of contact lenses prefer to opt for the easily disposable, maintenance free Acuvue lenses instead of all other brands of contact lenses. <bio>http://www.contactlenseclub.com/contacts/ and Acuvue Contact Lens provides detailed information on contact lens, color contact lens, acuvue contact lens and more. </bio>

There have been many various eye infection issues with contact lenses in the recent years; sometimes it is blamed on specific products, but mostly it is lack of good hygiene. There are some major issues that specifically have to do with people who wear soft contact lenses. Those people are definitely at a heightened risk for a serious contact lens eye infection.

One specific such infection is called Fusarium Kerititis. Although this contact lens eye infection is uncommon, it is definitely a cause for concern. The major symptoms of this particular infection involving contact lens wearers include, but are not limited to: blurred vision, redness, pain and extreme tearing or discharge. It can be so serious that the infection could cause total vision loss if not immediately treated.

Problem-Solving

If you wear contact lenses and begin feeling eye discomfort, remove your lenses. If you flush them but continue feeling pain, or see signs of an infection involving your contact lens usage, go to an eye doctor right away. If you have a contact lens eye infection, you do not want to delay treatment because eye infections are significant.

People who wear disposable daily lenses seem to have lowest risk of contact lens eye infection. However, anyone using lenses has a higher risk of getting an eye infection if they leave their lenses in when they go to bed, do not disinfect their storage cases, do not wash their hands before handling the contact lenses, or smoke.

Strangely, the risk of a contact lens eye infection was three times more likely when the lenses were purchased over the Internet. In order to avoid a contact lens eye infection, it is very important to know where your lenses have been. The ones sold on the Internet are typically mishandled, which can be a greater risk for this particular type of dangerous infection. It is recommended to purchase the lenses from at least a well-known store where a contact lens eye infection is less likely.

Reportedly, there is now a material called a sulfoxide hydrogel polymer that prevents a contact lens eye infection through enhancing the level of water in the eye and decreasing a problematic protein buildup. They claim it will enable contact lenses to be more comfortable when worn for long periods of time and successfully prevent bacterial buildup in the eye. It is the bacterial buildup that can lead to a contact lens eye infection. <bio>Author -- Burt Cotton http://www.colored-contact.org </bio>

A brand new contact lens is here to address more visual and comfort issues in an entirely new way. When most people think of contact lenses, they think of a little piece of plastic that rests on the cornea to correct vision. Sounds simple, right?

In fact there is a lot that goes in to the design and development of each and every contact lens, but this new lens takes the cake. The Synergeyes hybrid multifocal contact lens combines all the beneficial features that may make you a satisfied multifocal lens wearer.

What makes this lens so special? For starters, let's take a look at the hybrid aspect. The optical center of this lens is manufactured with very breathable gas permeable material known as Paragon HDS 100. The "100" refers to the DK, which is a measure of oxygen permeability, and let's just say that 100 is very high. What does this mean for your eye? It will breathe easy as you wear your lenses.

So let's look at the benefit of making the center of this multifocal contact lens out of this gas permeable material. Optically speaking, gas permeable lenses are far superior to there soft lens counterparts. Gas permeable lenses are essentially a smooth piece of plastic that is polished to a finish, therefore they provide wearers incredibly sharp vision. Soft lenses provide, well, soft vision. They are prone to fluctuation with dehydration and wear time. At best, the visual acuity of a soft lens is never as crisp as a gas permeable lens.

Then, don't forget that this particular lens is also a multifocal, meaning it is designed to correct both your distance vision and near vision for reading. Every contact lens fitter knows that for best multifocal success, fit gas permeable lenses. However, there has always been a comfort stigma associated with straight gas perms. Now with the soft lens skirt, this hybrid multifocal is sure to change the way we all fit and wear contact lenses.

Contact lens patients who work with specialty fitters, such as those at http://www.obrigcontactlenses.com will be first in line to try out this new lens design. Synergeyes has plans to release this lens first to contact lens specialists that have been trained and have a proven track record with other forms of the synergeyes hybrid contact lenses.

In short, the comfort of a soft lens with the vision of a gas permeable lens is finally available in a multifocal. This truly is a breakthrough design in contact lenses.

The lens is slated for release in early to mid 2007. If you are a contact lens wearer currently in soft multifocals and are not thrilled with the vision, or if you are a gas permeable multifocal lens wearer who is looking for a more comfortable lens design, consider asking your eye care professional about this exciting new contact lens. Remember, like all lenses, you must be fit by a qualified lens specialist and not all lenses will work for everybody. Only you and your team of eye care providers can decide if this lens is right for you. <bio>Stephen Cogger fits lenses at his http://www.obrigcontactlenses.com/about.html in New York.
Millions of people the world over are contact lens wearers. If you are such a person, you may be interested in finding a more convenient method through which you can order contact lenses and contact lens related products. In this day and age, the Internet and World Wide Web is proving to be a solid venue through which a person in your shoes can make the purchase of contact lenses and related supplies that you will require from time to time.

There are a number of specific benefits that can be had by ordering contact lenses online, by making your purchase of contact lenses and related supplies through the World Wide Web.

Perhaps the most important benefit that a person can obtain through the purchase of contact lenses and related supplies online is convenience. By ordering contact lenses and related supplies and products online, you can take care of your eye care business any time of day, any place where you can log onto the Internet.

Another benefit associated with ordering and purchasing contact lenses and contact lens supplies on the Internet is cost. Making the purchase of contact lenses online (as well as making the purchase of contact lens supplies and related products on the Net) can result in some significant cost savings to a consumer such as yourself. There are many sites in operation on the Internet that offer contact lenses (and companion products) for sale and prices significantly lower than you might be able to find with ease in the brick and mortar world.

In addition to convenience and cost, another benefit associated with ordering contact lenses online is selection. On the World Wide Web you have available to you a tremendous selection of products -- from contact lenses, to contact lens care products and related materials. In many ways, when it comes to what is available in the way of contact lenses and contact lens supplies online, the proverbial sky really is the limit.

In summary, the next time you are in the market for contact lenses and contact lens supplies, you will be well served by taking the time to explore what is available on the Internet and the World Wide Web. By taking the time to see what is available on the Web, you will be able to enjoy the convenience, cost savings and selections available in cyberspace. <bio>Linda Polansky writes about Contact Lens and Contact Lens Shopping. http://www.bestcontactlenscoupons.com </bio>

For many nearsighted women, contact lenses are their most important beauty accessory. Many women say they just don't andquot;feel prettyandquot; with their glasses on. Although many women think of eyeglasses as a fashion accessory, women who have to wear them all the time relish the freedom contact lenses can provide.

Women who wear contact lenses need to be careful when applying makeup. Because of the high water content in a contact lens, the lenses can easily absorb colors and odors, and the stains can be permanent. Because makeup can get on your hands, you should always put your contact lens in first before applying your makeup. Close your eyes before spraying hairspray or perfume-and wait until it has dissipated before opening them again. Be especially careful when applying mascara. Remove as much of the mascara from the brush as you can before applying so that it doesn't spatter onto the surface of your lenses; if necessary, you can reapply to get the quantity you need, but it's better to take the cautious route. If makeup gets onto a lens, not only can it stain the lens, but it can also make your eyes uncomfortable.

Colored contact lenses can really be another kind of makeup. The colored contact lens can be used by women without vision problems, but also comes in corrective strengths. The contact lens colors that are available can enhance your natural eye color, or even change it completely for a dramatic change in your look. You'll find that changing your eye color may also let you wear a whole different color palette of clothing or makeup.

Even if you don't want to change the color of your eyes, a contact lens with a tint may be good for you. One type of colored contact lens has what is called a andquot;visibility tint, andquot; simply to help you find it if you drop it. Others lenses have a subtle tint that's made to protect your eyes from UV rays. <bio>http://www.contactfreshlooklens.com </bio>

Firstly it was the need of contact lens. Secondly the need gave way to fashion. Thirdly fashion gave way to craze. Now amazing things are happening in the world of contact lens. You matched in everything, from tip to toe and in between you had forgotten the eyes. The revolutionary changes in the contact lens culture do provide you with the color of your choice for the eyes.

But these colored lenses and Halloween costume lenses require constant and careful maintenance. However, the procedure is simple. It is done with a no-rub multipurpose solution. Additionally, you require a pair of plastic tweezers and also a contact lens case. You can use any solution marked for soft contact lenses. If you have many pairs of contacts, let each one live in its own case.

It is not alone the solution, but the actual handling of the solution that matters. Solution plays a very important role in the overall handling of the contact lens. Before handling the contact lens, you need to wash your hands with soap. Then carefully pick the contact lens with tweezers and place it on your fingertip. Then rinse it with the no-rub solution. The contact lens is now ready to place it in your eye. And when you take the lenses out, one more rinse is necessary. Now keep it in its case with fresh solution till you use them again.

If you don't wear lenses for several weeks, it is necessary to change the solution and rinse them once in a week. If the lenses remain unattended in the case over a long period, rinse them two times in fresh solution and before wearing them, let it remain in the solution for a couple of hours.

Remember, using proper solutions is related to the health of your eyes. Contact lens solutions for hard contacts need to be used in a proper way, taking this important aspect into consideration.

There is a proper order to use contact lenses solutions. The daily cleaner aspect is important. As soon as you remove them, you need to clean them by using the first of the solutions for hard contacts.

The second solution for hard contacts is the saline solution. This is used for the purpose of rinsing after you have rubbed it in the palm of your hand with the daily cleaner. Then, comes the soaking solution. Now, you need to just place your lens in the soaking solution.

So, this cleaning operation for the hard contact lenses is done once in a week. As for using the solutions, always follow the packaging instructions. These four solutions are enzymatic cleaner, daily cleaner, saline solution and soaking solution. <bio>http://www.contactlenseclub.com/contacts/ andamp; Contact Lens provides detailed information on contact lens, color contact lens, acuvue contact lens and more. </bio>

If you are like most men and women in different countries around the world, you maintain a pretty restrictive budget. For most people, money simply does not grow on trees. As a consequence, it is important that you budget appropriately and take advantage of opportunities to saving money whenever possible. This holds true in regard to purchases such as contact lenses and contact lens care products.

In recent times, many people have found themselves discouraged with the lack of bargains in the brick and mortar world when it comes to contact lenses and contact lens care products. Indeed, over the past several years, the costs associated with contact lenses and contact lens care products have been on the rise in many areas around the world, in the brick and mortar world.

Fortunately, as with many other lines of goods and services in the 21st century, many people have been able to find relief when it comes to the costs associated with contact lenses and contact lens care products through the Internet and World Wide Web. If you take the time -- and it really does not require that much time, in point of fact -- to search and surf the Net, you will be able to find some wonderful bargains on contact lenses and contact lens supplies.

First of all, on the Internet there are a significant number of reputable and reliable sites on the Internet through which you can make the purchase of contact lenses. Through these sites you can buy all varieties of contact lenses, including extended wear products and specialty lenses such as Toric contact lenses (for a person with an astigmatism).

Keep in mind that in order to make the purchase of contact lenses from off of the Internet, from one of the websites, you will need to make certain that you have an appropriate prescription. Obviously, contact lenses are prescription products.

Second, there are a number of websites on the Net through which a person can purchase all of the contact lens care products that you will require. This includes all of the products that you will need for the regular care and maintenance -- cleaning and sterilizing -- of your contact lenses. In many instances, these website merchants will be able to send to you the products that you need very rapidly, in most instances within a period of 24 to 48 hours. <bio>Linda Polansky writes about Contact Lens Bargains and Contact Lens Promotions http://www.BestContactLensCoupons.com </bio>

There is much more to consider when purchasing a pair of contact lens than whether they are lightweight, and painless. People carefully review all of the features offered by contact lens manufacturers. Any contact lens manufacturer might produce several products in contact lens wear, and finding the right product for your lifestyle is very important.

Some of the features offered by Bausch and Lomb contact lenses might include soft contact lenses and rigid gas permeable lenses. This brand is known more by people than other contact lens manufacturers because of their eye care products, pharmaceutical products and ophthalmic surgical products than for the contact lenses that they manufacture. Their products will work well with many other manufacturer contact lenses and people trust their products explicitly.

The manufacturer Cooper Vision has the distinction of being the only manufacturer whose contact lens brand, Proclear Compatibles that the FDA allows to make certain claims about providing improved comfort to contact lens wearers who have experienced discomfort due to dryness." That distinction leads many people to purchase their brand over other features offered by contact lens manufacturers.

Boston Rigid Gas Permeable offers a lens type that is an excellent choice for people with dry eyes, astigmatism, and sensitive eyes. Their gas permeable lenses out perform other features offered by contact lens manufacturers. They may also be an option for people who have had trouble wearing soft contact lenses in the past.

CIBA Vision is a widely recognized contact lens brand because they offer cosmetic and colored contact lenses that people wear to not only change their eye color but enhance them too. These are far better features offered by contact lens manufacturers that offer clear lenses as their only option.

CIBA Vision offers a patented pattern in their product line called FreshLook ColorBlends that is a three-in-one color burst pattern. This patented pattern clearly outweighs other features offered by contact lens manufacturers who have no patent at all.

Cooper Vision is the number one manufacturer of toric lenses and features the most advanced lenses in the contact lens manufacturing industry. Two contact lenses in their product line offer features not found by other manufacturers. For best vision in a contact lens people can choose to wear the Aspheric lenses, and for unmatched day comfort, they can choose to wear the Proclear Compatibles.

Johnson and John Vision Care under the Vistakon umbrella was the first manufacturer to offer soft disposable contact lens, which was a significant features than those offered by contact lens manufacturers at the time. Their Acuvue Brand remains the number one brand in the world in this category.

Specialty Ultravision has bested features offered by contact lens manufacturers by offering a technology that blocks aberration. With their lenses, contact lens wearers are afforded an increase in the clarity of the images before them, which gives them sharper vision capabilities.

Wesley-Jessen, which is part of CIBA Vision offers more features than any other contact lens manufacturer. This contact lens manufacturing company features more than 85 combinations of contact lenses to meet all eye requirements of contact lens wearers around the world. <bio>Stacey Day writes about http://www.bestcontactlenscoupons.com/ </bio>

Glow in the dark contact lens is also now available in the market. They are an innovation when it comes to special effect contact lens.

The usual type of contact lens just either help enhance the eye's natural color or bring it out with the use of other eye colors. Some can also create illusions with the use of extraordinary colors such as yellow and red. Some go as far as placing shapes on contact lenses to create the illusion of a magical pupil or something otherworldly. However, glow in the dark contact lens put all those innovation into a whole new level.

The glow in the dark contact lens is generally used for theatrical purposes. Those who wanted to create a spookier costume presentation for Halloween would also benefit a lot from using glow in the dark contact lens. Once worn, it definitely calls for attention and therefore produces a lot of audience impact.

These contact lenses can be further customized to illuminate different images in the lens itself to make them more unique. It can also be built within shapes to create a more awesome look. No matter how innovating the designs or shapes maybe, they can still amaze those people who have tried them on. The only thing the wearer should keep in mind is that it must be relative dark in order to see the full effects to the glowing lens.

So what's the trick behind that glow in the dark look? This type of contact lens makes use of luminescent material which is safely placed on its surface. However, in choosing a lens with specifications like this, it is important to look at its accreditation. It is highly advisable to use only those which colors are approved by the FDA. Make sure your eye doctor gives his or her approval before trying on an unknown brand of specialty contact lenses.

In addition, this type of lens should also be purchased with proper prescription. It is important to consult a licensed optometrist first before availing one. As soon as you get an approval to wear a theatrical contact lens, the next important thing to do is find a reliable contact lens seller. This is important so that the quality of lens is ensured. Also, it's very appropriate to buy only those which have proven their name over the years since there's additional material being placed on this lens' surface which is not a simple process.

Some brands of glowing contact lenses are not recommended to be worn while driving at night. Apparently the glare of oncoming vehicle headlights have cause some people to have vision problems. Again talk to your eye doctor if you have any questions as any possible limitations that may be involved with wearing theatrical contact lenses.

It is strongly recommended that this type of contact lens should be used by only one wearer. This is not intended for borrowing because that would be very unhygienic and potentially dangerous to the eyes. Your Glow in the dark contact lens should also be taken cared of and cleaned just like any normal contact lenses. Failure to do so may lead to serious consequences. <bio>James Kesel, MS, is the publisher of the Discounted Contact Lenses website at http://www.discountedcontact-lenses.com.
When people damage their contact lenses on any given day of the week, sometimes it is necessary to replace them quickly because the person may not have a pair of eyeglasses that they can wear in the meantime. They may consult their doctor and have a replacement pair ordered through regular channels.

If this happens on a weekend, their regular ophthalmologist will not be in their office and the person might be unable to see until the following Monday. Through the use of contact lens replacement services, people can keep any number of contact lens available to wear for any occasion.

One of the requirements that must be followed in order to use a contact lens replacement service is that the person must register their contact lens prescription with the service. This is mandated and required by Law and there is no other way around it. Once this registration has been accomplished, the contact lens replacement service can offer a variety of services, and generally at a price far lower than that offered by their regular eye professional.

A contact lens replacement service can not work miracles. They are required by law to replace the lens prescription exactly as prescribed by your eye physician. This means, that the exact brand, specification and type of contact lens that the doctor prescribed for you on the day that your eyes were examined, will be the finished product that is delivered to you from the contact lens replacement services.

Many people try to renegotiate their vision acuity with this type of contact lens replacement services specialist, but they must adhere to the Law, and give you exactly what the doctor ordered for you. The only exception this policy, is that the contact lens replacement services can change the color of the contact lenses for you if you like.

This exception can be done by contact lens replacement services, only if the color of the lenses is offered in the exact brand that your original prescription was written for. If there are several color choices in that brand, then you can order several colors, to be stylish in any type of outfit that you wear.

Many people use these contact lens replacement services because they like to keep an extra pair of contact lenses in their home medicine cabinet. Business professionals might prefer to keep 2 pairs of contact lens at the office, because one of them will always remain in their briefcase, and the other pair is kept in their office desk drawer.

Should damage occur during a business meeting at a client's business location, it is easy for the business professional to reach into his briefcase and take a moment and change them out in the restroom.

Scratches and unwanted deposits can make the surface areas of contact lens difficult to wear at times. It's makes good common sense to keep two pair on hand, and it is more for convenience and practicalities than it would be for a fashion makeover. When time restraints prohibit a thorough cleaning and rinsing regimen, people will switch to another pair until proper cleaning can be done. <bio>Stacey Day writes about http://www.bestcontactlenscoupons.com/ </bio>

Earlier this year, contact lens wearers around the world got a scare when news of an outbreak of an eye infection called fungal keratitis came out. This fungal eye infection can be treated relatively easily if caught early, but more established cases may lead to a need for a corneal transplant or worse, loss of the affected eye.

According to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), as of May there had been 130 confirmed cases of fungal eye infections in the US in a one year period and of those cases, all but 5 were in contact lens wearers. 37 of these people have required corneal transplants. Bausch and Lomb's ReNu with MoistureLoc contact lens cleaning solution has been blamed by some for the outbreak, since 76% of contact lens wearers who contracted fungal keratitis used that particular solution, while it holds only a 10% market share in contact lens cleaning solutions. The product has since been pulled from the market while investigations continue. The consensus seems to be that the fungus is not present in the solution itself, but rather that it forms a film in contact lens cases that prevents disinfection of the case. The fungus itself, Fusarium, is quite common and can be found in water, soil, and plants, so could easily end up in contact lens cases that are not properly disinfected. There have been cases in Europe and Asia as well, and links to ReNu products there are being investigated.

There are several steps that soft contact lens wearers can take to protect themselves from fungal eye infections, many of which they should be doing already in routine proper care of their contact lenses. First, if people have any of the ReNu with MoistureLoc solution, they should stop using it and throw the rest away. Second, follow basic hygiene good sense, like washing your hands before you touch your contact lenses. Clean your contact lens case thoroughly, store it where it will not get contaminated, and replace it periodically. There are new lens cases available that are made with antimicrobial agents to prevent contamination. Don't mix old and new cleaning solution, and don't wear lenses longer than their prescribed schedule.

If you are afraid you may have a fungal eye infection, seek help right away. Symptoms include blurry vision, clouding of the eye, loss of vision, excessive irritation, discharge, lesions on the eye, and new sensitivity to light. <bio>James Brown writes about Contact Lenz, Contact Lens Promo Codes http://www.bestcontactlenscoupons.com </bio>

This ever growing urge of folks to sport unique color lenses for parties have paved the way for a boon in the colored contacts industry. These disposable colored contacts have set the cash register ringing. And to add to the ongoing colored contact fever, comes Halloween contact lenses.

Introduction of Halloween lenses have given impetus to the colored contact lens industry. These lenses could be rather termed as costume lenses that are in great demand for fun parties and theme dress parties.

A wide variety of Halloween lenses makes your choice easier. These Halloween lenses come in various categories. It could be a crazy lens or a wild eye lens. Some of the Halloween lenses may appear funny as well.

These possible genres help you choose best suited lens that goes perfectly with your costume and theme of the party. Youngsters may even love to hang out with these lenses on their eyes for fun. Eccentric folks long to buy a pair of wild eye lenses. All these lenses are disposable and are suggested to be used for the directed time. Thought, their use beyond the recommended time may give your eye some troubles.

A Halloween lens could be a black out lens that gives your eye a complete white appearance. With this lens on your eyes you look like a living dead body. On the other hand a Halloween lens could be completely black lens by covering even sclera with black. It too gives your eye a unique appearance.

Red hot and Cat Eye Halloween lenses happen to be very popular for wild fun parties. Blood shot and Wolf lenses are equally popular.

These lenses are often used in horror flicks because of being special effect lenses. These lenses add to the dramatization of a scene in horror movies. It assigns a dreadful appearance to eyes of actors that might be a necessity for the plot of movies. Most often in vampire based movies, Halloween lenses are used.

But before using these lenses you must learn the art of putting on and taking out these lenses, if you are not familiar with the usage of contact lens. You must clean it with the cleaner before putting it on eye. <bio>The author writes about a number of different topics.
The origin of contact lens could be traced back to sixteenth century. A good number of inventors or scientists have contributed to the evolution and modification of the concept behind contact lenses. So no single person could be adjudged as the sole inventor of contact lenses.

However credit for the modern form of contact lens is usually attributed to F.E.Muller. F.E.Muller's version came up in 1887. The other one who is also considered as one of pivotal contributor to the evolution of contact lenses is Rene Descrates. Descrates invented corneal contact lens. Another British scientist Jhon Herschel's contribution is widely acknowledged.

Second half of nineteenth century witnessed a new herald in the history of contact lenses with lots of inventions and innovations. That was the period in which mainstream of society got aware of the lenses that could be directly placed on cornea or sclera. However this awareness was limited to only niche.

Eugen Fick's Scleral contact shells in late nineteenth century became an instant hit among niche. This lens was later on modified by August Miller.

With the advent of plastic scleral lenses contact lens history took a new turn and researches were diverted towards lot of sophisticated substitutes of glass contacts. William Feinbloom is considered as pioneer of plastic contact lenses. One more scientist of that period Joseph Dallos earned accolade for his contribution.

George Butterfield earned recognition for improved corneal lens. This is the way contact lenses underwent the modifications.

More sophisticated and comfy lenses came on the block once Silicone hydrogel was introduced. These are common historical facts available on contact lenses.

This ever growing contact lens history suggests that people were actually in need of a better contact lens. Some historians of contact lenses suggest that it was Leonardo Da Vinci who first toyed with the idea of contact lenses.

Even now innovations haven't stopped and new models of contact lenses keep coming up. Colored contact lenses have given a different turn to the history of contact lens. With advent of colored contacts, contact lens usage is not confined to only vision correction instead it could be used for fashion and fun purposes as well.

Disposable contact lenses have resulted in a great surge in popularity of contact lenses. Also the falling prices have made it possible for average users to use contact lenses.

History doesn't end here. Many more innovations are impending, that are likely to come soon on the block. <bio>The author writes about a number of different topics.
As we age, the lens in our eye starts to lose its elasticity, and the muscles that control the lens shape get weaker, resulting in a form of farsightedness called presbyopia. There are several other factors besides age that can accelerate the onset of presbyopia, including eye injury, diseases such as diabetes or multiple sclerosis, drug use, gender (women tend to get it at a younger age than men), and occupation (if your job requires a lot of close up work, presbyopia may occur sooner). While you may be able to control some of the risk factors, there is no known way to prevent presbyopia and it is considered part of the natural aging process. If you find yourself having to hold books and other reading material farther away from you to read it, you may be developing presbyopia and need bifocal vision correction. Contact lenses are now available for people who need bifocals and after a discussion with your eye care professional, you can decide if contact lenses are the right choice for you.

Bifocal contact lenses are available across the whole range of contact lens materials, from rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses, to traditional soft contact lenses, to the new silicon hydrogel soft contact lenses, which allow much more oxygen to reach the eye. They are also available across the spectrum of wear schedules, from the RGPs which can last several years, to daily disposables.

The location of the distance and near correction in bifocal contact lenses varies with style. Some, called aspheric, have near and distance correction dispersed around the contact lens, and the eye will learn to use the part it needs at the correct time without you being aware of it. In others, called concentric, one type of correction is found in the middle of the contact lens, while the other kind of correction encircles it around the outside of the lens. Translating lenses work much like bifocal glasses, with one type of correction on the top, and the other on the bottom. Another option for people with presbyopia is to have the different corrections in different eyes, called monovision. In other words, in one eye you would wear a prescription to correct nearsightedness, and in the other, you would wear on to correct farsightedness. You will probably not even notice the difference, and because the lenses are less specialized, it may be more economical to purchase contact lenses this way if it is a style that works for you. <bio>James Brown writes about Contact Lens, Contact Lens Coupons http://www.bestcontactlenscoupons.com </bio>

Contact lenses are the rage these days with more and more wearers discovering the comfort and ease of wearing contact lenses. It also enhances the looks of a person as contact lenses are worn on the eyes and can be a fine substitute for a pair of spectacles. Thus one can see one's face without the hindrance of spectacles over the bridge of the nose that shades away the beautiful eyes.

What then are contact lenses? One might wonder. A contact lens is actually a thin piece of plastic or glass that is fitted over the cornea of the eye. Thus it can eliminate the need for spectacles as defects in one's vision can be set right merely by wearing these thin pieces of glass or plastic over the cornea of the eye. Thus contact lenses can be worn easily by people with vision defects like myopia. Hyperopia, astigmatism, and other related problems.

These corrective measures to be worn over the cornea of the eye come in two different types. Contact lenses come with hard or soft lenses. They are defined as soft lenses as these contact lenses are made of soft plastic and are much preferred by the today' wearer. They are very comfortable to wear, as they can hold water. Most times soft lenses are disposable lenses as well. Thus the busy wearer of today, who cannot be strapped to a routine of regular lens cleaning in addition to his or her other responsibilities, is rightly suited for wearing soft lenses.

The contact lenses that are made with a glass piece are usually the hard lens variety. These lenses are rigid and gas permeable. Some of these hard lenses may even have a colored tint so that locating these lenses for the wearer becomes easier.

They are also fitted with UV protection in most cases and can be fitted with bifocal lenses as well. The wearer of such a lens is blessed with durability though cleaning these lenses has to be a regular routine.

As these lenses are now made with silicone polymers, they allow oxygen to circulate freely to the cornea. They are meant for regular wear, but extended wear over the night is not recommended. Constant wear can limit the flow of oxygen to the cornea and in some cases can even lead to damage of vision.

By and large, with a little precaution, one can find the contact lens that is ideally suited for one's lifestyle and go about one's work unhindered by the hassle of having to carry a pair of glasses as one of the essential items in one's bag. <bio>http://www.contactlenseclub.com/contacts/ and Contact Lens provides detailed information on contact lens, color contact lens, acuvue contact lens and more. </bio>

Are you thinking of updating the contact lenses you wear? Odds are that you only require a spherical correction and can wear soft contact lenses. I say that because statistically, most lens wearers use spherical soft lenses. Knowing this, you may want to consider daily disposable contact lenses. Below are 7 top benefits of wearing this convenient style of lens.

1. Extra pairs of lenses means you don't have to worry about losing one. Daily disposable lens wearers know that if they lose or tear a lens, it does not matter. Think about it, when you buy a year supply of lenses, which is over 700 lenses! who cares if one gets lost?

2. Minimal clouding from deposit buildup. Lenses that are re-worn are prone to buildup of surface debris. With daily disposable lenses, there is hardly any opportunity for debris to coat up the surface and cause cloudy vision.

3. Small streamlined packaging makes it easy to store and keep your supply of daily use contacts.

4. Peace of mind in knowing that you are putting on clean and sterile contact lenses each and every day.

5. Single uses are arguably the healthiest lenses available. Because you are never putting the same lens back on your eye again, this style of contact lens provides you with a very healthy lens experience.

6. Easy to care for. Daily disposables are designed for single use wear. Meaning there is no care system or extra solutions to buy. Just the lenses.

7. Best for travel. You do not have to carry any extra saline solution when you go away. Simply drop a couple lenses in your bag and you are ready for your trip. (always pack an extra pair or two for peace of mind)

As of the date of this article single use lenses are available in some in toric and multifocal designs, but mainly in spherical corrections from +6.00 to -12.00. All available daily disposable contacts are soft lenses. I hope you consider asking your eye care provider about this amazingly conveneint and healthy modality of contact lens wear. <bio>Barbara Lewis wants you to succeed with your contact lenses, that is why she writes for http://www.ContactLensSuccess.com where you will find the latest updates on todays contacts. </bio>

You have gotten your prescription and are now trying to figure out the best place to buy your contact lenses. You are confident about the safety and quality you will get buying from your eye care health professional, but you wouldn't mind saving some money, either. If the contacts are just as good from an online service or a warehouse store and are cheaper, why not get them there? Here are some considerations to help guide you through your contact lens purchase.

First of all, a prescription for eyeglasses is not the same as a prescription for contact lenses. For glasses, you need to know how much and what type of correction each eye needs. Since contact lenses fit directly on your eye, your contact lens prescription also has to have information about certain dimensions of your eye. In other words, you need to be fitted for contact lenses, and that part needs to be done by an eye care professional. You will probably purchase at least your first lenses, or an initial disposable pair here.

After that, you are free to purchase anywhere that sells contacts, of which there are thousands. What next? Determine which factors are most important to you. A low price is good, but if the source from which you are buying your contact lenses rarely has your brand or prescription in stock, it's not going to be very convenient. If your health insurance has vision coverage that helps you offset the cost of contact lenses, will the provider bill your insurance directly, or do you have to pay up front and submit a claim yourself? Customer service is also important. This is not a toaster oven or CD you are buying. If your order is wrong, or you have another question or problem, you will want to make sure you can get a hold of someone now, and preferably someone who is knowledgeable enough to help.

Even which provider has the lowest price can vary depending on different factors. For example, an online distributor may have the best price for some brands, but not necessarily all. If your eye care professional offers services that give you discounts for either your eye exam or your contact lenses if you get both in his or her office, the overall cost may be less than getting the eye exam and contact lenses from separate sources.

If you consider these questions before choosing your contact lens provider, you are more likely to get the right lenses, when you need them, for the best price. And isn't that all you wanted in the first place? <bio>James Brown writes about Contact Lens, Contact Lens Coupons Codes http://www.bestcontactlenscoupons.com </bio>

Buying a pair of contacts is easy. Anyone who has a tiny income can buy himself or herself a pair. Actually, teenagers today find the contacts a great way of expressing themselves, sometimes having some 10-15 pairs to keep changing. How much do you know about contact lens care?

What Actually is Contact Lens Care?

The process by which the product is maintained and kept functional is called maintenance, or as in our context here, care. The steps you need to cover the minimum and most basic contact lens care is outlined below:

* Be sure you understand the instructions list and do exactly as you are told. Any deviation from the instruction, however small it may look to you, may be extremely harmful to you and your eyes in the long run.

* Always touch your lenses only after you washed your hands with soap. Be careful while changing or using them, that the lenses are not exposed to anything that is dirty.

* Always use a good brand of cleaning solution; do not just go for anything that the shop keeper offers you, or whatever it is available in the shop. Identify a brand that is good, and then stick to it.

* Never put your lenses in the mouth; this can capture sufficient bacteria to damage your eyes forever.

* If you wear makeup, put your lenses on last; sometimes particles from makeup will get into the eye. It's best to put them on last.

* Check with your doctor at least once in 6-12 months to ensure that your eye sight and the use of the eye-lens have not changed.

* Follow all the cleaning procedures mentioned in the instructions to the T; any negligence here may introduce a number of infections to your eyes which can not only be very painful, but also very dangerous.

* In case you use eyes drops, have a time gap of about 30 minutes before replacing your lenses in your eyes; otherwise the contacts may absorb some of the eye drops which are not good for you or for the lenses.

* Be careful what brand you are using and what is recommended for your lens. Many times, people ignore the instructions using whatever solutions they can lies their hands on, only to find that they have actually damaged not only their lenses but also their eyes by it.

Contact lens care is one of the most critical factors in maintaining your eye sight, and keeping your eyes beautiful and healthy. <bio>Burt Cotton http://www.colored-contact.org </bio>

Although one needs to obtain a prescription in order to purchase their contacts, there is a wealth of options available when it comes to purchasing contact lenses. This makes it easier for the individual to find the best deal possible when searching for contact lenses. There are many places where a contact lens wearer can look in order to find their particular make of contact lenses at an extremely reasonable price.

Find Great Deals Online

One way to find a fantastic deal on contact lenses is by searching companies and providers, which sell contact lenses online. In general, all one needs to do is to select their particular type of contact lenses, enter their prescription information so that it can be verified by the company prior to shipping the lenses and pay for the contact lenses. The prices which one will come across online are quite inexpensive when compared with the prices at some retail stores. There are a few different well-known contact lens distributors, such as 1-800 Contacts, which provide an array of choices for contact lens wearers everywhere. If one has access to the Internet, considering purchasing contact lenses online is an extremely beneficial thing to do.

Manufacturers Rebates from the Eye Doctor

Another great way to find an excellent deal on contact lenses is to inquire about possible manufacturers rebates at one's eye doctor's office. Frequently, the optometrist will receive special rebates from various contact lens manufacturers who are trying to get the word out on their contact lens varieties. This will often yield rebates for the patients in the form of $20 and upward in many cases. Checking with the eye doctor for any possible contact lens rebates is another great way to obtain a good deal on the purchase of contacts.

Retail Store Specials

Lastly, one may be able to find a great deal by going to a retail store, which sells eyeglasses and contact lenses. Frequently stores such as these will have seasonal sales where one or more types of contact lenses are on sale to the public. All one needs is a prescription and they are well on their way to obtaining a new pair of contact lenses at a great price.

Conclusion

Contact lenses are a necessary purchase, which do not have to break the bank. By following the aforementioned tips, one may just be able to find the perfect deal on a new pair of contact lenses. <bio>James Brown writes about http://www.bestcontactlenscoupons.com, http://www.bestcontactlenscoupons.com/Categories/Contact%20Lenses.html </bio>
