Concrete has long been used in building, for stairs, and so much more. The functions that concrete can have vary greatly, as it is a widely used product. However, decorative concrete brings out a whole new use for concrete.

Concrete can be used as a decoration such as in walls, lawn accessories, floors, countertops, and more.

Embedding Personal or Decorative Items =96

With decorative concrete you can have a countertop completely personalized by having your personal affects embedded in the concrete such as keepsakes that have a special sentimental value for you. You could also use your favorite items such as seashells from your favorite beach, or even from childhood, embedded in your concrete countertops.

Colorful, Decorative Concrete =96

We often think of concrete as being gray in color. However, when using concrete as a decorative material iron oxides can be mixed into the concrete to create colors such as yellow, black and red. Of course, the specific hue of those colors (yellow, black and red) can be different depending on how dark or how bright you want them to be.

Decorative Concrete Stamps =96

Hey, the stars in Hollywood do it, so why not you? When the concrete is still wet you can have certain designs stamped into the concrete to create a variety of different styles. You could also use stamping to create a stone or brick style to your concrete.

Decorative concrete can have so many different uses, and concrete is a wonderful choice for your home because it is so strong, easy to care for, and will last probably longer than your home itself. You can even change anything you want with the decorative concrete you already have in your home by making different colors, adding slabs to create something new and different. Nothing you do with decorative concrete has to stay there forever. You can change it at a later time if you decide that you want to do that.

You can change the color of your existing concrete by using acid staining, which creates a chemical reaction that changes the color of the concrete, or you can use concrete dyes. However, many people are turning to acid staining their concrete because of the fading effects concrete dyes can have. It was found that sunlight made the colors fade with concrete dyes if the concrete was left outside, or if sunlight were to hit a portion of your concrete wall or floor.

This is a versatile and semi permanent way to decorate your home. Decorative concrete walls, countertops, lawn accessories, and floors can be a great choice for you and your home. <bio>Learn more and get a free newsletter at http://myhomeimprovementtips.com and for more tips and resources, head to http://www.tipsonconcrete.com </bio>

When you want to get a job done in your home or in the yard, it is important to have the right equipment. If you are building a foundation to a home, garage or shed, repairing a sidewalk, or repairing the side of the building, having the right type of concrete mixer can ensure that you will do a job in excellence. There are several tools and types of concrete mixers that can be used to ensure that your job gets done easier.

The first type of concrete mixer that you may want to consider using is a mobile concrete dispenser. This is used to batch concrete in one area then move to another area. Usually, these dispensers are used to pour sidewalks and other projects that need concrete batched into several areas. You are able to control the amount of concrete that is needed in one area at one time as well as be able to mix other types of rocks in with the concrete. Usually, this type of concrete mixer will also mix the concrete and other materials without having to use extra water with the process.

The second type of concrete mixer that you can use is the stationary concrete dispenser. This is designed to stay in the same place while you pour the concrete. Most of the time, this type of mixer will be used if you are pouring molds for a building or are using cement for a pre-caster for a project that you are doing. If you are in a remote location or are going to be staying in one area to build a project, then a stationary concrete dispenser is the better type of mixer to get.

Another thing to look at with concrete mixers is the parts that you will need. Even if you are simply renting a mixer, it is important to know what is being used in the mixer. This will eliminate problems and will help you in understanding how the concrete is mixed. If any problems arise with the process, you will know which parts is not working properly or need replaced. One of the main things to look at is the type of blades that are being used. There are certain sizes that are included with the blades and different materials that are used, depending on the type of mixer that you are getting.

There are also different types of belts that will be in the mixer. This helps to turn the mixture before and while you are pouring concrete. The sizes on these belts will differ, as well as the type of belt that is being used. Chutes, filter bags, air pads, cartridges, and other parts are some of the other things that will be included in the mixer. You should always make sure that these are in tact when you get your mixer.

By having the right type of mixer and the right parts that go with it, it will be easier for you to finish your large and small projects. Concrete mixers, no matter what kind, can help you to get your landscape or home project looking new again. <bio>http://cementconcretemixers.com Everything you need to know about cement concrete mixers </bio>

Many people have the same reaction when first presented with the idea of using concrete for kitchen or bathroom surfaces. Usually they are surprised and even a little apprehensive. What first crosses a persons mind when they think of concrete is a drab, harsh looking surface that isn't appealing in the least. In reality though, concrete is an amazing material that can provide a unique aesthetic to your kitchen, bathroom or even your garden. Concrete is incredibly versatile and can be set to just about any shape desirable and once properly aged it is very durable. Did you realize that you could polish, wax, color and even stain concrete to match your desired look and feel? Some artists have even embedded stones or even glass into concrete to give it a unique look with unbelievable results.

Most people believe that marble or granite countertops are the best materials for countertops and surfaces, but they have their own set of challenges and can often hinder creativity. The great thing with concrete is that you are only limited by your imagination. Concrete can be molded, shaped or even sculpted to fit any surface or application. Most homeowners find that making a concrete countertop or decorative garden piece not only saves them money but also can be fun in the process.

For a truly professional and in some cases artistic flair, there are may be a contractor in your area that specializes in concrete. If you do find one, make sure to ask for a portfolio of previous jobs. This will give you an idea of the contractors range. If you are looking for a more abstract look, you don't want to choose a contractor that has done mainly traditional settings and vice versa.

So before you chose a more expensive material like marble or granite, look into concrete and be pleasantly surprised. <bio>Christine Loxley writes for http://www.concretecabin.com, a website packed with information on Concrete Molds and Decorative Concrete </bio>

What is exactly concrete repair?

Concrete is such a versatile substance. It can be used for driveways, patios, porches, garages, flooring and walls. But it does tend to be susceptible to damage over the years. There are many different types of concrete repair that can be performed to help prolong the life of the concrete or give it a much-needed face-lift. A fairly competent DIY enthusiast may perform some of the smaller concrete repairs. However, a professional should do more major or large scale types of concrete repair.

Just as the uses for concrete vary greatly, so do the types of concrete repairs that can be performed. The complexity of the work and the amount of labor required also affect the cost of the concrete repairs. There are also different grades of concrete that can be used and types of resin or setting agent. If you want the best concrete repairs, you are going to have to research exactly what is involved. The mix of the concrete used for any repair varies according to the temperature and climatic conditions, especially if the work is being performed outside. A stronger mix is used in colder weather.

A completely new concrete driveway can cost approximately $40 per square meter. However, if this is being performed as a last resort for a concrete repair to a driveway that has become unusable, then the preparation work needs to be taken into account. The existing concrete will have to be removed and leveled as part of this most major of concrete repairs. That will increase the cost dramatically.

Of course, replacing an entire driveway or garage floor is the last resort. There are various types of concrete repairs including restoration, reinforcement, finishing and maintenance. You also have the option of adding fancy styles to your concrete but this does not really come under the heading of a repair. Cleaning and preparing the area is part of most concrete repairs. This can be performed with a variety of chemicals or organic compounds. It is important to check with the contractor if you have particular concerns about what is used during the concrete repair process.

The length of time that concrete repairs take will obviously vary according to the complexity of the job. However, there are a few basic guideline time frames that you need to be aware of before you book your major concrete repairs. Even with some of the fastest drying concrete mixes, it can be a while before your concrete repair has set properly. Don't expect to be able to drive on your newly refurbished driveway immediately. It can take 24-48 hours before you can walk on the area that has had the concrete repairs and a lengthy 6 days before your car can be driven onto it. Ensure that you have made alternative arrangements to park your truck as it could be up to 48 days after the concrete repairs were finished before you can bring your big rig onto it. <bio>Daniel Roshard is an interior designer fascinated by outdoor architecture, he is currently studying public parks and outdoor design.
Many home owners report that their concrete does not look as good as it first did, and indeed some concrete looses its looks and become cracked and dimples and rust stains. This look damages the house look and many find it to be plain ugly, the solutions that people apply to this problem is usually covering the whole concrete surface with different thing, mattress and clothes from all materials, but covering the concrete does not solve the problem just provides a temporary solution you need to remove once it starts raining.

The real solution for this problem is using concrete paint. You can use concrete paint to cover the whole surface and make it look completely different, the paint will help you change the look and you can also add some sand to the paint to help prevent problems like slipping or falling on the concrete because of water or cracks, the paint will make these problems disappear.

Whenever talking about changing or replacing concrete we are talking about an expensive work that will almost surely take some time and effort that might disturb the family living in the house for some time, this is why the concrete problems should first try to be solved by a quicker and simpler solutions, the concrete paint solution is much shorter and easier than redoing the whole area of the concrete. The only thing you need to do is visit a shop and decide on the color that you want, buy the other necessary things for this project, find some free time and paint your concrete.

There is also place for creativity when painting your concrete, you can buy a few different colors, make a plan of how you want to paint it and paint geometric shapes, different patterns, words and letters, colors that correspond to the house colors, swirls and circle shapes and check board shapes. You can also use templates for these shapes, you will need to make or get durable templates and use them to give your concrete a unique look.

The only important thing you should bare in mind is that before painting the concrete you will need to examine all the concrete surface to make sure that it is clean and dry, in any case you should clean the whole surface to make sure that no oil stains or water is not present on the surface because concrete can hold a lot water. You can clean the surface by using a broom on the dry surface and then using a broom and some strong cleaning produce, washing like you do at home, and then using water to wash away the soap. Once the concrete is clean and dry the painting can start.

Once you will complete the painting you will understand how easy and simple it is to reinvent your concrete surface look, and also understand that once you are bored with the colors you could change again and again, good luck with your new concrete paint and new concrete surface. <bio>Daniel Roshard is an interior designer fascinated by outdoor architecture, he is currently studying public parks and outdoor design.
The volumetric concrete mixer is a special design that helps to pour concrete effectively and with efficiency. There are several different benefits to using this type of mixer if you are working on a project that requires concrete or cement. The process that is used through a volumetric mixer adds to proficiency for the process of laying concrete.

Usually, these mixers contain four different bins in them. Each of these will hold a different material that is needed for mixing concrete. This includes cement dust, sand, stone and water. These different elements will then fall into a conveyor that is running through the bins. These are controlled by gates that open and close, allowing whoever is operating the gates to control how much material and mixture goes through the gates.

After the different materials move to create the mix, they are dumped into an auger. At this point, water or any other elements needed are be added to the mixture. This is where all of the mixing of the material occurs. If the mixture is a little off, it can be adjusted at this point. This allows complete control over the levels of mixture that are used before being poured onto the landscape.

The concrete then moves out of the auger and onto the ground. This is where it can be laid out properly and professionally. The benefits of this type of mixing of concrete are many. First, it allows the concrete to be fresh when it is laid. This helps in putting the finishing touches on the concrete. Second, when concrete is mixed through other types of mixing devices, it often comes out hot, making it harder to work properly. Often times, when the concrete is laid while it is hot, it will take a longer time to set in the right place and dry.

Usually, these types of mixers are available in several different sizes. They are best used when attached to a truck. The mixers are available at a smaller size of two yards, or four feet, or a larger size of twelve yards, or twenty-four feet. Depending on the projects that will be done with these mixers, you can control how large or small you will need to have the mixer.

By using volumetric concrete mixers to pour landscapes and roads, it allows for more efficiency. These mixers have been used as a special design to allow companies and individuals to mix and maintain concrete. By using the special process through these types of mixers, it allows for more proficient lying of concrete. <bio>http://cementconcretemixers.com Everything you need to know about cement concrete mixers. </bio>

Most everyone that ever had anything to do with concrete knows that it has a wear and tear problem, it is a part of the natural ageing of concrete, but what most people don't know is that this problem can be solved, and sometimes the result can be much better and nicer than ever before. When concrete starts to chip and flake it can be a real eyesore. There is literally tons of concrete that is ripped up and discarded into various landfills every year, yet most of this concrete is still in good structural shape. There are certain exceptions, but most of the visible damage is cracking, and it can be restored with amazing results. The answer to this cosmetic damage is concrete coating. Concrete coating is the natural answer to the aging problems of concrete.

There are various types of concrete coating, each offering different finishes of the final product. The cracks are initially filled, a simple procedure, and then the chipping of flaking (also known as spalling) are removed. Finally a concrete coating is applied to the existing concrete, resulting in a beautiful finish that also resists the corrosive effects of weather. Concrete coating is both strong and durable, lasting years longer than traditional concrete. It is comprised of a unique blend of acrylics and cements resulting in an appealing finish. This procedure of concrete coating allows you to perform a make over to your concrete and upgrade the way your concrete surface.

Another thing that is very important in dealing and maintaining concrete is that concrete coating wouldn't mean that you have to put in more time and energy into cleaning. Concrete coating is also easy to maintain and proper maintenance can extend the life of the concrete even longer. Maintenance requires pressure washing and simple resealing about every two to three years, depending on the amount of traffic wear and tear. Salt doesn't affect the coating material and most stains can be easily washed off. Of course one should always be careful when using a snow shovel to not damage the coating. If you use your common sense and experience there is no reason why you shouldn't enjoy your new concrete coating for a long time, this is really an investment that pays itself in years.

Concrete coating is not only for the outdoors, it is a great solution for any concrete surface, if you want to change the look of your tired, cracked concrete - in a driveway, by the pool, or even indoors - there are many different types of concrete coatings coming in a wide variety of colors. There is even a slip resistant coating available for swimming pools, which really adds safety to the area. Basically any sound surface can be a candidate for coating.

Find out more about concrete coating, it is an amazing way of keeping concrete surfaces and many people find that this is a perfect solution to a tired looking, ageing concrete surface. <bio>Daniel Roshard is a interior designer fascinated by garden architecture, currently studying integration of home appliances to outdoors parks and gardens.
Specialist applications require different types of concrete. Examples of concrete include regular concrete, high strength concrete, high-performance concrete, self-compacting concrete, shotcrete, pervious concrete, cellular concrete, roller-compacted concrete and asphalt concrete. The use of recycled glass as an aggregate is popular these days because of aesthetic appeal.

A great variety of products are made from concrete. Examples include pavements, masonry, pipes and insulating concrete.

Regular concrete is what you get when you follow the mixing instructions on a packet of cement, using sand or an aggregate. This type of concrete can be made to have a strength of 10MPa to 40MPa depending what it is going to be used for. 10MPa should be sufficient for blinding, for example, but structural concrete should be 40MPa.

High strength concrete has a compressive strength of usually more than 6000 pounds per square inch (40 MPa). You make high strength concrete by lowering the water to cement ratio to 0.35 or lower. Silica fume is often added to prevent the formation of free calcium hydroxide crystals in the cement matrix, because this might reduce the strength at the cement-aggregate bond.

High performance concrete is quite a new term and describes concrete that conforms to a certain set of standards including strength. High strength concrete is also high performance but not all high performance concrete is high strength. Some examples of these standards include density, toughness, volume stability, a long life even in severe environments, long term mechanical properties, compaction without segregation, ease of placement, early age strength, permeability and heat of hydration.

Shotcrete is often used against rock surfaces or vertical soil because formwork is unnecessary. It can be used for rock support, especially when tunneling. There are two application methods for shotcrete =96 dry mix or wet mix procedures. When using dry mix, the dry mixture of aggregates and cement fill the machine and are conveyed through the hoses with compressed air. The water necessary for hydration gets added at the nozzle. When preparing wet mix, the mixes are made with all the water necessary for hydration and pumped through the hoses. Compressed air is added for spraying, at the nozzle. For both wet mix and dry mix, additives such as fiber reinforcement and accelerators may be used.

To produce uniform, high quality concrete, it is necessary to mix your cement mixture thoroughly. In the process of hydrating and hardening, concrete has to develop certain chemical and physical properties. Among other qualities, low moisture permeability, mechanical strength and chemical and volumetric stability are very important factors. <bio>For more information and a free newsletter visit our blog at http://myhomeimprovementtips.com and additional tips and resources on concrete can be found at http://www.tipsonconcrete.com </bio>

There are many different types of concrete grinders on the market. What you plan to do with a concrete grinder will have a lot to do with whether you need one and how you will use it.

A concrete grinder is used for a number of reasons such as removing things like paint spills, glue, imperfections in concrete work, smoothing uneven surfaces, removing formwork seams or protrusions. Each concrete grinder has built-in features and can be used for some or any of the above applications. One of the most important features to look for when deciding to purchase or use a concrete grinder is a dust collector or vacuum. The reason this is so important is because you will lessen the amount of dust you are breathing in and have less mess after the job is completed, making clean up a lot quicker. Most models should have a dust collector, even small hand held concrete grinders.

Some of the types of concrete grinders available are:

*Shrouded concrete grinder with vacuum. This particular grinder is used for cleaning of planning and removal of glues and paints from concrete work. It is also ideal for smoothing uneven surfaces. The three different sizes available are 5, 7 and 10 inch models. A dust vacuum is used to stop dust and help remove debris while you are working.

*Heavy-duty grinders. 7-inch heavy duty angle grinders for concrete applications are made especially for concrete work. They are mainly used for removing blemishes or cleaning the concrete surface. Make sure there is a dust collection device included with the model.

*5-inch concrete surface grinder. This model will refurbish and deburr concrete, remove irregularities, form-work seams and any protrusions. There is a built in dust chute with most models that will remove dust and debris. This type of concrete grinder only weighs 6 pounds, making it ideal for reducing worker fatigue.

*Hand held grinders. These are ideal for small jobs like areas close to walls and other hard to get places. They are also ideal for removing blemishes to concrete work. They are very light and easy to use. If you have a large area to cover, a hand held grinder may be a little impractical.

*Multi headed grinders. These models come with dust collectors and are designed for large areas. Their main purpose is to level and remove small imperfections to concrete work. The brushes used in multi headed grinders can be changed to suit the surface.

When choosing a concrete grinder, the first thing to consider is what you are planning to use it for and the size of the job you will be doing. If you are only using a large industrial grinder once it may be a cheaper alternative to rent a machine. If you only need a small hand held concrete grinder, it may be a good idea to buy one. <bio>Daniel Roshard is a interior designer fascinated by garden architecture, currently studying integration of home appliances to outdoors parks and gardens.
Asphalt paving refers to the laying out of asphalt concrete in thin, smooth layers on the Portland concrete of old roadways, driveways, and airport fields. The process of asphalt paving is for the purpose of correcting, improving, and/or protecting damaged or worn concrete surfaces, much like applying a "band-aid" to a sore.

Asphalt paving uses asphalt concrete, which is essentially the mixture of asphalt with a binder (or adhesive) and mineral aggregates to ensure solidity and strength. Asphalt concrete can be prepared in a number of different ways:

Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete (HMAC): Asphalt is heated to reduce stickiness and moisture in the mineral aggregates.

** Think: coagulating blood through heat to seal the wound.

Warm Mix Asphalt Concrete (WMA or WAM): Zeolites, waxes, or asphalt emulsions are added to allow lower laying that results in less fossil-fuel consumption.

** Think: applying sunscreen lotion to keep out the bad elements.

Cold Mix Asphalt Concrete: emulsifying water and soap into the asphalt concrete. This reduces stickiness and makes the material easier to manipulate and compact.

** Think: adding cool water to clay to easily mold works of art.

Cut-back Asphalt Concrete: binder is dissolved in kerosene or other forms of lighter petroleum. This reduces stickiness and makes the material easier to manipulate and compact.

** Think: pouring water into paint to make it more easily spreadable.

Asphalt paving, just like anything else, has its good points and its bad points, depending on how and where it's used.

Pros of Asphalt Paving:

No cracking in winter Easy snow removal Coloring and pattern-stamping, which is harder with concrete Can be re-laid, whereas concrete cannot Less expensive than concrete, which explains why asphalt concrete is usually used as the great fixer-upper.

Cons of Asphalt Paving:

The main concern with asphalt paving is that it requires constant resealing for long-lasting effectiveness, so maintenance is strongly advised and expected.

In the end, asphalt paving is more economical and provides wider flexibility in use than concrete. This resolution to surface wear-and-tear provides greater allowances and is therefore preferable in the long-run. <bio>Find more Asphalt resources at http://www.Asphalt-Paving.info, and other great topics here http://www.information-checkstop.info. </bio>

A cement mixer -- the more appropriate name is a concrete mixer -- performs the function of mixing cement, water and either gravel or sand to make concrete. A revolving drum is used in the cement mixer to properly mix these components, A portable cement mixer gives the needed time for the construction workers to use it, before it becomes hard.

To build a foundation for a home, shed or garage or repair a building or a sidewalk, the right kind of cement mixer should be used to ensure the job is executed properly.

The mobile concrete dispenser or mobile cement mixer is used for batching concrete into several areas such as sidewalks. The amount of concrete can be properly controlled by using the mobile cement mixer. Extra water is not needed to mix cement in mobile cement mixers.

The stationary or immobile cement mixer or concrete dispenser as the name implies, is fixed in a central location while the concrete is manufactured. It is used mostly in pre-casting for building projects in remote locations where a large project is to be executed.

The increasing demand for ready-mix concrete with short mixing times meant for industrial production, resulted in new technologies in concrete production. Using cement mixers, batch mixing with twin-shafts with only thirty- seconds of mixing time per batch are possible now. Find more info at www. http://just-mixers.info

Delivery of ready-mix concrete from the factory or plant to the construction yard is made by a cement mixer, which is part of special transport trucks with a spiral blade fitted to overcome the tipping of large drums attached to the concrete truck. Continuous rotating cement mixers completely mix the concrete, and using its own hydraulic link cylinder empties the concrete without leaving any residue in the drum.

Portable cement mixers have wheels and are provided with a towing tongue, which a motor vehicle can pull around. The electric power for the rotation of the cement mixer can be supplied by the mains. A lever in the portable cement mixer enables the concrete to be tipped into a wheelbarrow.

It is not financially a good idea to buy a new concrete mixer for a small project, it is much simpler and of course cheaper to hire one from any leasing company. <bio>Lucy Bartlett is a proud contributing author.
To stop concrete from cracking, the first thing to understand about concrete is that it reacts to moisture. The moisture within it creates a chemical reaction that hardens the concrete.

Many people believe that once concrete appears lighter in color, with a hard surface that it is dry, but in reality concrete takes at least seven days to cure and several weeks to completely dry.

For concrete to become strong and for the surface to wear well, curing concrete needs moisture. Concrete needs to dry out at a slow continuous pace; otherwise shrinking and cracking will likely occur.

The strength of concrete when accurately cured is about 80 to 100 per cent higher than concrete, that hasn't been cured at all. To increase concrete's strength this curing process should be stable and continuous. If concrete becomes too wet or too dry, cracks will certainly develop, resulting in future flooring problems.

Which means that if you are curing concrete on a hot sunny day, the chemicals within concrete will stop reacting once sufficient moisture is gone -- leaving it in a weakened state. Therefore concrete should be protected from damaging effects such as wind, sun and inconsistent weather.

The ideal temperature for hydration is 23C. It is best to keep the temperature as close as possible to that level, as curing takes place.

To keep in moisture and slow down the drying process, a membrane can be used. But there are many types of membranes on the market, and you will want to make sure the one you select is right for the type of flooring you are planning to install.

There are a variety of chemical and liquid membranes on the market, which are growing in popularity. You can apply them easily by hand or with a power sprayer and are classified under the four following base types: chlorinated-rubber, resin, water, and PVA.

Another way to prevent moisture from evaporating is to use a waterproof building paper or plastic film. Plastic sheeting is a flexible and easy covering for complex shapes. Plastic sheeting can be pulled back quickly to allow you to check the concrete over the course of curing.

Another idea is to get a spray atomizer and spray water on the concrete's surface prior to putting on the plastic sheeting. Using a finer mist spray almost like a fog, works very well also.

Using an absorptive medium like sand or canvas is also an effective way to retain moisture.

To sum it up, if you are pouring concrete you should create an optimal environment so it can cure properly. As your concrete hardens and starts to get rid of excess water, it will shrink.

For a trouble free installation, being proactive and implementing preventative measures during curing will result in strong concrete that won't crack.

The advantage of an installation that carefully controls moisture levels and temperatures is immense and something that should not be ignored.
Concrete isn't just for structural building. It's the stuff counter tops are made of. Concrete counter tops, in fact, are sweeping the kitchen design industry with their beauty and versatility.

Thanks to the properties of concrete, this building material can be worked and molding into almost any shape, size and design. The benefits of concrete counter tops are many, but rest assured, they are not gleaned by compromising beauty. Those who have these counter tops find they are almost impossible to differentiate from other hard surface materials favored by kitchen designers.

There are a few basic looks that concrete counter tops can take on thanks to the use of different colorings, aggregates and coatings. These include:

Marbleized: Using different pigments and creation techniques, master counter top makers can take concrete and make it virtually indistinguishable from a slab of marble. The beauty is sealed in.

Trowel: Offering a rougher surface than most counters, this design is one that many adore for its unusual beauty.

Terrazzo: By adding glass or marble into the mix, concrete counter tops can take on a variety of different looks in terrazzo. This can add an extra dimension of beauty to the countertops.

In addition to having a variety of appearances, these counter tops do have some ups and downs. They are, overall, quite comparable with other single sheet designs. Things buyers should know about concrete tops include:

* Sealer. Concrete counter tops must be sealed to ensure staining and other damage are avoided. When a sealer is well applied, the counter tops can resist all sorts of problems. Despite this, there are things that can compromise the sealer, so it's important to make sure the job is done correctly and it's protected from damage. The rules associated with concrete care aren't much different than most regular counter tops come with even most of the "high-end" designs.

* Cutting issues. While some counter tops are meant to be cut on directly, concrete is not one such creation. While the concrete can handle direct cutting, the sealer cannot. When cutting is done directly on the surface, it impacts the sealer, which could lead to stain problems down the road.

* Heat issues. Again, concrete itself can take the punishment, but the sealer might not. With this in mind, it's recommended that hot pans and bowls not be placed directly on the counter tops. Just like working with Corian or other similar counter tops direct heat is worth avoiding to protect the beauty of the counter tops.

Offering a remarkable beauty, concrete counter tops are amazing to behold. It's very difficult for anyone who doesn't know what they're made of to tell by appearance. When crafted by masters, the designs can be simply fantastic.

Although concrete is well known for its building properties, the fact is this material isn't just for under surfaces anymore. Concrete counter tops are taking the kitchen industry by storm. Known for their durability and beauty, these counter tops are comparable in looks to some of the top designer choices, such as granite, quartz and beyond. <bio>Still looking for the perfect counter tops?
When it comes to maximizing the visual appeal of a kitchen, nothing achieves this at a more affordable price than kitchen countertops. Because they cover so much space in the kitchen, countertops can visually transform the tone of the room; so choosing the countertop material that will make the most of your renovation dollars can be something of a challenge.

While granite and ceramic tile countertops are among the more popular choices for countertop materials, concrete kitchen countertops are increasingly becoming a countertop material that homeowners seek.

Concrete kitchen countertops have achieved this level of popularity as much for their unrivalled durability as their cost. Many commercial kitchens have made the choice of concrete simply because of how well they hold up under a myriad of conditions typical in the kitchen environment.

For consumer kitchens, concrete holds just as much appeal; as its durability is appealing to serious cooks and its low maintenance is equally appealing for busy families.

When choosing concrete kitchen countertops you have the ability to choose between two distinct options. There are pre-made countertops that are purchased in one piece and then installed into your kitchen. This is an affordable way to install this material into your home and installation can either by handled by a professional contractor or a skilled do-it-yourselfer.

There is also the other option, however, to have a contractor actually build, pour, and form your countertop onsite. Keep in mind, however, that this is the more expensive option and requires a professional with enormous skill and precision to achieve the outcome you desire.

The advantages of concrete kitchen countertops are all about their durability. While there are many countertop materials that can be considered durable - such as granite, ceramic, and engineered stone - concrete particularly has a level of resilience not inherent to other materials. In addition to its resistance to heat and humidity, concrete is also unaffected by all corrosive materials as well as any impact to which it may be subject.

The best thing about concrete kitchen countertops is that they can be stained with any color of your choice. Also, the top layer can be finished as beautifully as you want; with any type of stone and design you desire.

There are problems associated with concrete, however, and anyone who chooses to install such countertops into their home are advised to pay heed to these issues. If you live in a climate that experiences rapid changes in temperature, you need to take extra precautions when it comes to using concrete. This is because the concrete can crack if it should contract, in response to the weather. Most common concrete kitchen countertops come with sealant so that the material is kept protected at all times.

Ultimately, choosing concrete kitchen countertops depends solely on your need for a high-end durability and low maintenance material. Think outside the box when it comes to shopping for kitchen countertops and you will be assured to find the perfect material to suit your needs. <bio>Still looking for the perfect counter tops?
Many backyards have large landscaped lawns, but this can be boring if there is little visual appeal added to the yard such as concrete water fountains, which are regarded as quite aesthetically pleasing. While large lawns can look amazing when well taken care of but adding something extra to them can make your lawn the talk of the entire neighborhood. One of the more popular design items you can add to your lawn design plan is a concrete water fountain =96 they look amazing and are for the most part, low maintenance.

Lawn Shape and Concrete Water Fountains

If you have a perfectly square lawn, it is best to place a standing concrete fountain directly in the middle of the grass area. This can actually make your lawn look bigger, and it won't interfere with anything else placed in your yard. Tall concrete fountains work best when placed inside of a square lawn, since they will actually work to extend your lawn and make it look even larger. Learn more about incorporating concrete fountains with your garden design themes at http://www.garden-fountains.com/Categories.bok?category=Garden+Fountains.

The only downfall with placing concrete fountains in the center of your lawn is that it may flatten the grass underneath it. However, it shouldn't be an issue if you plan on keeping the fountain in that specific location permanently. But it may cause problems if you decide to move it to another area. If you are worried about this happening, you may want to choose to install 1-3 wall fountains in the surrounding areas.

Wall fountains can be placed on practically any wall, since they are just like standing fountains but have a flat backside. They can be placed on the edge of your lawn against a back wall, or even against a sidewall if you wish as many high quality wall fountains have flat bases. No matter where you choose to put it, make sure it is either centered on the wall or place it in a corner if you wish to go with a fountain made to fit. Placing concrete fountains in an odd location can throw off your entire lawn design, and can actually make it end up looking smaller than it really is.

No matter which type of fountain you decide upon, you can do so many different things with concrete fountains. You can add some extra landscaping around the fountain for some added enhancement, or even leave it as it is to give a classic and sophisticated look. You can plant vines around wall fountains if you wish, and when they grow out you can actually wrap them onto the fountain to give it a more natural and mature look. See different and unique styles of wall fountains for your yard, garden, or patio at http://www.garden-fountains.com/Categories.bok?category=Wall+Fountains.

Adding Color with Concrete Water Wall Fountains

If you want to add some color to your green lawn, you can try throwing some fresh rose or other flower petals directly into your water wall fountain or concrete fountain. This can work with both a standing and wall concrete fountains. You can change the decorations with the season, or even add something special for certain occasions. Make sure the petals are fresh so they look their best and replace them when needed to keep your fountain looking amazing all the time.

If you plan on adding something different to your lawn, a concrete water fountain really is the best choice. You can choose either a standing or wall concrete fountains, since they work differently in a number of different settings. Concrete fountains can add something different to your lawn that nobody else has, and can even work to make your lawn appear larger than it really is. If you are looking to impress your neighbors and guests, getting a concrete fountain really is a great choice. <bio>Elizabeth Jean is an expert gardening writer and frequent contributor to http://Garden-Fountains.com, a well frequently visited website with stylish water fountains and garden statuary ideas for your home, yards, gardens, and patios. </bio>

A skid-steer bucket concrete mixer is a skid-steer forklift attachment that combines the benefits of a loader and a concrete mixer into a single piece of equipment. With this innovative and compact piece of equipment, your company can combine the benefits of a loader and a concrete mixer into a single device. This one of a kind concrete mixer allows you to produce thoroughly mixed concrete quickly and efficiently without the assistance of a third party and with no time delays. It also allows you to transport the concrete to pour sites located in areas too small for larger concrete mixers to reach.

A skid steer-bucket concrete mixer features a design that allows it to be lowered like a bucket to scoop sand and gravel. The mixer can then be tilted back into the upright position, exposing a bag splitter that allows you to break bags of cement and pour their contents directly into the unit. You can then add water, mix it with the sand, gravel, and cement, have concrete ready to pour in a matter of minutes. The skid-steer bucket concrete mixer discharges its contents either through a chute on the side, or by being tilted downward. This allows the unit greater flexibility in reaching hard to get to places.

Skid steer bucket concrete mixers provide work crews with an economic alternative to manual loading that can lead to back injuries. They save a great deal of time for work crews who normally have to wait on ready-mix companies to bring in trucks. It is much better to get the job done right then and there without having to depend on a third party that may actually charge you for more materials and services than you actually need. Because ready-mix companies tend to avoid selling small quantities of concrete, contractors often have to meet minimum volume requirements when ordering concrete, plus they have to pay for the labor.

With a smaller, bucket concrete mixer you can control yourself, you can pay for only the materials that you need. Existing work crews on site can handle the mixing, and you don't have to wait for delivery. Adding the bucket concrete mixer to your skid-steer, you can transform an existing piece of equipment with a simple attachment that minimizes procurement costs and better enables you to meet project deadlines.

A number of features enable skid-steer bucket concrete mixers to function in a fast, ergonomic, and accurate manner. A new, improved design uses a revolving paddle to mix cement. This method is much more efficient than the use of augers and produces a more blended constituency. These paddles are driven by a hydraulic motor that attaches to your skid-steer's hydraulic system through a chain and sprocket drive. This eliminates the need for a separate power source, and it allows the skid-steer itself to power the concrete mixer. The chain and sprocket drive also allow for paddle reversal and protect the skid-steer bucket from shock.

While skid-steer bucket concrete mixers are made for cement mixing, not mixing grout, they can be adapted to mixing grout if you incorporate 3/8" of pea gravel into the mix design. The total grout or concrete mixing capacity of the skid steer bucket is 9 cubic feet. These attachments are intended for mounting on universal quick-tach skid-steers rated at 1600lbs or greater.<bio>Easyrack.org.
