As forecast by many in the 1980s computers are finally taking over the world. You will find them in every office and nearly every home. People use them to manage their lives. You can manage your money online, pay bills and shop over the Internet. You can also keep in touch with friends and family all over the world. If you do not learn how to use a computer, you are going to be left behind.

You will find computers in gas stations, hospitals, stores both large and small, beauty shops, restaurants and more. There are many self-service computers around, synchronized with their headquarter databases. It is impossible to escape computers nowadays.

Banking, for example, is self-serviced through ATM machines. Gas stations are self-serviced by their use of menu-clad touch screens. A lot of cash registers run on a Windows system and send purchase details via the internet back to headquarters. If you have your blood pressure or heart rate measured, that is also a digital process. You can even order fast food by dialing and making your selection from pre-programmed menus by pressing the buttons on your phone!

It is highly likely that all paper-based transactions (money orders, checks etc) and documentation (filing cabinet systems etc) will become obsolete. Post offices will have a lot less work as paperwork decreases. Homes will be using less paper and our natural resources will be preserved because of this.

If you are not good with computers or have never used one, this might well make you feel worried. Luckily, computer systems are designed for ease of use, so even a child could understand and use them. Many systems are designed with menus and selections so you just need to press the buttons according to your choices. Computerized systems have been deliberately designed like this, so that everyone is capable of using them.

If you have to use an electronic system, look at the main menu. The main menu will probably appear as soon as you turn the device on. The buttons on the main menu have options that take you to other additional menus, where you have more choices to make. You can choose the service that you need in this way.

Remember that if you make a mistake or press the wrong button, the device is not going to blow up! You can easily get back to the main menu and start again if you need to. Every time you use a similar device, it will get easier.

On many electronic devices you will find a `help' option which you can click if you get confused. If it is available, be sure to use it if you need to.

There is really no way to avoid computerized systems in the modern world. There is no need to be afraid of them either. If you remember how simple the menu system is to use, you will find out that you can approach and use these devices as if you had designed them yourself. <bio>GoToMyPC is software that allows you to access your work or home computer from anywhere in the world.
Anyone who has ever played the board game Risk and then tried to play the computerized version can tell you that there is no comparison--it doesn't even seem like the same game. The same is true about the difference between a magnificent globe and some computerized rendition of the planet on a computer screen--these two extremes are worlds apart. Even though a service like Mapquest may well provide a far more accurate picture and "real world" mapping capabilities, the purpose of a lavish globe is not to serve as a map.

World globes are symbols and a computerized version can be more accurate, give you driving direction--heck, tell you about the weather--but it makes no difference because the point of a globe really is to stimulate the imagination. In many cases, a magnificent globe sitting atop some executive's desk is really a status symbol--but sitting atop a child's desk--a globe is a portal to adventures they have yet to take. In a word, a world globe is about possibilities.

This is why a lavish globe makes the perfect gift during the holidays. If you are looking for something for your father but just can't ever seem to find something that he truly wants, you may be surprised to see how much his eyes light up when he opens up his present and finds an illuminated desk globe! Or, if he is into somewhat more "dignified" gifts, then try surprising him with an antique world globe to display in his den or office.

The fact is that even in this age of technology where we all have GPS systems mounted to the dash of our vehicles, the allure of the magnificent globe has not faded. Sales at Replogle, the largest globe maker on the planet, did not plummet when Mapquest began supplying pictures of the world. In fact, if anything, people wanted globes more than ever once such services began offering digital versions of the planet.

People may love to use technology as a tool but when it comes to things involving the imagination, they tend to love something that they can actually see AND touch. So, when you are out shopping this Christmas for gifts, remember that a lavish globe will be warmly received even if it doesn't seem "practical". After all, we have to be practical seemingly every minute of the day anyway--sometimes people just like to kick back and look at a magnificent globe on their desk and wonder, "What if...." <bio>Jennifer Akre, owner of numerous online shopping, niche home decor, and home furnishings sites, makes it easy to find the perfect world http://www.globesgalore.com/floor-globes1.html and desk http://www.globesgalore.com/gemstone-globes1.html.
Law enforcement has been trying to find ways to apprehend criminals. Since policemen cannot be in all places at all the time, the arm of the law has been continually developing ways to monitor, observe, and record what goes on in their area of responsibility, hoping to catch a criminal in the act. This activity is called surveillance.

The rapid advancement of technology has given law enforcement the necessary tools in monitoring crime. These tools are efficient and have helped the police catch criminals. In fact, the presence or knowledge that that certain surveillance system is somewhere in the area makes criminals think twice before doing their despicable acts of lawlessness.

One of the most effective surveillance tools in use today is the CCTV camera. These cameras are placed outdoors, just out of sight from the public. They are the "extended eyes" of the law enforcements.

The first CCTV cameras used for monitoring public places were simple, obvious, and low definition. They show images only in black-and-white, and they don't have features such as zooming or panning.

Today's security camera systems, however, are small and inconspicuous. Despite their size, they can produce surprisingly high-definition color images. Not only that, they can also zoom and focus on minute details, such as, a vehicle's plate number, a person's face, an identifying mark, or, in the right circumstances, even a hidden weapon. Furthermore, when linked to a computer network, the camera can track objects and people. That means they can hone in on a movement across the vicinity where there is normally no movement. These high-tech devices can even focus on a suspicious person or object and follow him or it through a busy crowd. This makes it very hard for a criminal to escape. Because CCTVs can focus on a person's face, it is possible to verify his identity without the person himself knowing it.

Let's say a pickpocket grabbed a woman's purse and thought he got away. What he didn't know was that a CCTV was monitoring him, and the operator decided to focus on his face. The image was then run to a computer database where it was matched with thousands of pictures. In a few hours, the police may have a positive match, and if they do, it's off to jail for the pickpocket.

Of course, security camera systems sometimes fail in identification, but the technology is improving. In a few years, the identification system will be vastly improved.

Computerized CCTV monitoring technology is being developed and improved. With such an advanced system, an operator can observe more cameras without endlessly looking at the screen. Furthermore, the computer can be programmed to recognize particular body movements and facial expressions. Since criminals have rather unusual movements and expressions--nervousness before doing a crime, for example--they act subtly different from normal people in public. The system will be able to spot this and alert the operator, telling him or the police organization a possible indication or occurrence of a crime.<bio>Steve Strong's is an employee with Sun Security a leading supplier of Outdoor Security Cameras, Security Camera Systems and 4 Channel DVR Cards.</bio>

Those who are graduate nurses will soon be sitting for their national boards known as the NCLEX®. The state nursing board examinations are computerized and set up to test the candidate's skill level. In order to pass the NCLEX® the candidate must demonstrate the level of skill required to practice the art of nursing safely in their state. In order to determine this level of skill, the NCLEX® is formatted to adapt to the testers knowledge base.

This type of computerized adaptation is termed, "computerized adaptive testing" or CAT. This type of testing is not new. It has been in use for many years. This is the method that the Graduate Entrance Exams (GRE®) have been using. To better understand how computerized adaptive testing works, think about taking a test where all of the questions are very easy. This type of test does not really test the ability of the tester that knows the material thoroughly. Therefore the tester's true mastery of the subject is not assessed.

It is similar to being in class, where the teacher is asking questions. As the student answers the questions, the level of difficulty continues to increase, until the student reaches a point where they cannot answer a question, then the level of difficulty decreases, and the cycle begins again. This type of testing then does away with the redundancy of questions wherein the level of each is on a plateau, but rather poses questions that challenges the tester's ability to the point that their true ability of their mastery of the subject matter can be assessed.

Therefore, those student's, sitting for the NCLEX who are answering easier questions, may find themselves answering more questions than those students who are able to answer the harder questions and thereby have fewer questions. One could say that computerized adaptive testing is geared to each individuals own knowledge base. After each question the tester is scored. Each following question will be chosen to match their skill based on how they answered the previous question. There is a statistical program built into the main program that estimates the tester's knowledge proficiency. There is a pre-set statistical data base that dictates the percentage of questions that are needed for a graduate nurse to pass or to fail.

"The CAT usually ends when the amount of measurement error around the ability estimate reaches an acceptable level. Low levels of measurement error are required for high-stakes certification tests and indicate that the test would likely produce a similar score if re-administered immediately afterwards. It is not known exactly when the test will shut off or how many questions have to be completed. The computerized adaptive testing usually presents a variable number of questions, and a minimum and maximum number is pre-set."

Therefore, if the graduate nurse answers incorrectly the easy questions, as well as the more difficult questions, they will be less likely to sit for the entire six hours and their test may shut off after the minimum of seventy five questions. It is the seventy five questions that many graduate nurses are fearful of receiving, because they think that they have failed the NCLEX. If the tester has a good solid knowledge base and has prepared for the test by practicing NCLEX questions, then the seventy five questions shut off is actually a good sign. The score is based upon the level of difficulty that is achieved. This is the methodology that the NCLEX uses to test the nursing school graduates.

Learn more about nursing education at http://www.nurseslearningcenter.com/

References

1. .
A Computerized DJ or a Computer DJ based in Ontario, Mississauga, Toronto or any other part of Canada is a Disc Jockey who uses a computer, mostly laptops to play digital music. The music is usually .mp3 or .wav encoded audio music files played to a public crowd. Some common DJ entertainer software programs include Traktor DJ Studio, Ableton Live, Torq, PCDJ, Virtual DJ/Numark Cue, Scratch live, Deckadance, Ultramixer and djay.
The car of the future is already here. Although we tend to view futuristic cars as those that fly and hover, cars that have been only dreamed of ten years ago are now a reality. Now you can watch movies, play games and surf the internet inside a moving vehicle. These features are now as common as windshield wipers and rear view mirrors.

What is part of the so-called 'concept' cars before, can now be found in the local car showroom and is waiting for your indulgence. Here are some of them:

1. Global Positioning System.

Before, you can only find GPS on cars meant for James Bond and for high-profile personalities. Now, GPS is a common feature in every car. There are many handheld equipments as well as readily-installed GPS systems on automobiles available on the market today.

Driving can be very convenient with a GPS onboard. Navigation also relies heavily on this gadget allowing for maps and directions to be updated to the system.

More importantly, GPS can be used to locate the vehicle if it is stolen. Police officers also rely on GPS to chase down criminals in real time. Kidnapping statistics have lowered as a result of the GPS systems in automobiles. They can be activated through a centralized or paid monitoring system.

2. Computerized Vehicle Maintenance Systems.

Manufacturers have installed computerized systems in their vehicles to check for the condition of the vehicle without having to go to a garage for a regular check-up. This ingenious method makes use of the computer system in the automobile. For example, General Motors OnStar system allows vehicle owners to do a vehicle "on-the-spot diagnostic" to know details with regards to gasoline consumption, mileage, oil level, etc.

Comfort is also a primary consideration for the design of the computer system onboard the vehicle. They are called computer climate control. The Jeep Grand Cherokee, for instance, uses infrared sensors that will scan the temperature of the vehicle and will create for you the right mix of hot and cold air for the total comfort of the driver and its passengers. Climate controls are also now available on the Mercedes Benz S-Class series as well as the Jaguar's S-Type models.

3. Advanced Car Safety Features.

Cars today now come out with advanced anti-lock brake systems that allows for control of the wheel even under heavy braking. This prevents the vehicle from tipping over since the car will not skid even while the driver's foot is heavy on the brake pedal. Another important safety feature is the use of airbags which, over the years have drastically improved the sensors and activation speed, thus preventing serious injury to the passengers and driver during impact or collision.

A collision control system is another safety feature used by manufacturers like Mercedes Benz. Under heavy fog or rain, the car can send out radar beams to detect another car or object within a certain distance in front of the car and automatically adjusts the speed of the vehicle.

The General Motors OnStar system have emergency signal that will automatically transmit to a monitoring center in the event that the vehicle's airbags deploy. A call will then made to the vehicle's voice-activated communication system and inquire if the deployment is accidental and if it is not, a medical team will be dispatched to the site.<bio>If you are learning to drive you can practice your theory test at theorytest.co.uk.
What is up with people who use this as their voicemail message: "You have reached 310-555-1212. Please leave a message?" There's nothing warm and nothing pleasant about that.

It's amazing how many people I call, and the first thing I learn about them is their phone number recited by a computerized woman's voice. Do you realize that your first "meeting" with and introduction to someone might be via your voicemail message?

You may thereafter hand somebody a business card with the intention of introducing yourself to them for business purposes, but their first impression of you will remain hearing "You have reached 310-555-1212 . . . " Do you know what type of first impression that makes? None.

The other terrible thing about this ever-so-sexy computerized voice reciting a phone number as your voicemail message, is that as the caller you sometimes think you may have dialed the wrong number because there is no way to know whose voicemail you've reached (since today we don't usually memorize everyone's phone number). So you don't leave a message. Thus, even though we know we dialed 312-555-1212, we might have hit the wrong button and we didn't memorize it.

I don't care whether it's your business or your personal voicemail, you need to leave a warm personally recorded message so people who hear it can get an idea of your personality. For example, I've been using basically the same voicemail message for years. In mine, I say:

"Hey, it's David. Great to hear from you. Looking forward to speaking with you, but I can't get to the phone right now. I'll call you back as soon as I get into the office. Take care, and make it a great day!"

Your voicemail message should at a minimum be something that's strong. I have excitement in my voice in my message.

I want people to be excited to talk to me. I want people to be interested in talking to me. I want them to know that I'm a warm person.

It's amazing how lazy most people have become. This is a problem that is equally prevalent in men as it is in women.

There is no reason you should have a computerized voicemail message at work. It's unprofessional in every way. Let people know about who you are.

If you're dating, then having a computerized voicemail message is simply ridiculous. If I call a woman and get the "You've reached 310-555-1212 ..." voicemail, then I wonder if I was handed a wrong phone number and very often I will not want to leave a message.

Why should I leave a message in that situation? I don't know whose phone I've reached. I don't know if I've reached Amy, Lisa ... or some weird 90-year old guy in prison somewhere who just likes to listen to voicemail messages.

So when you record your voicemail message, make it warm and friendly - but don't make it stupid. I can't tell you how many times I have called someone and, after hearing their dog barking in the background, their message in their cutest tone of voice says "Fred says 'leave a message!' Ha Ha Ha ..." That is really annoying.

Also, what about when you call up a family home and after the voicemail begins "You've reached the Wilsons ...." you hear each child in turn yell their own name like "Timmy! Amy! Joe!" followed by the dog barking after being introduced. How cute ... if you're a part of that family.

How about the people who put an excerpt of a tv show or song as part of their voicemail message? Like that makes sense. Why in order to leave someone a message am I being forced to endure 30 seconds of a tv show that I don't watch?

It's time we all grew up. It's time we all stopped being lazy. It's time we all recorded a personal voicemail message.

So for all of you who have the "You've reached 310-555-1212 ..." message on your voicemail, it's time you decided to say "hi." As for me, I'll end this blog by saying "This is David . . . and welcome to my voicemail!"<bio>Hailed on Fox News, The LA Times, The NY Times, Playboy and more...
In 1983 this was a question millions of people were asking car manufacturers around the country. However if this is the first time you've heard of the Automotive Keyless Entry Remote System, let us explain. Have you ever seen someone walking to their car and push a button on their key ring to unlock the doors? That's all that we're talking about here, but having the technology for it in the early eighties was simply fascinating.

So How Does It Work?

Basically it all works by broadcasting radio waves from your remote system to the vehicle. While this is standard in many different technologies out there today, back then it was simply a new innovation. In today's world there are specific encryptions which will keep hackers from trying to intercept the signals and ultimately steal your vehicle.

Without going into all the computerized technology these Keyless Entry Remote Systems will open and lock your vehicle's doors. They can also open the trunk or even sound an alarm if you notice someone snooping around your vehicle. Anytime you push one of the buttons on your key fob, you can expect the car to make an alternate noise or visual. It may be the sound of the horn beeping a couple times, flashing headlights, or even the hazard lights turning on and off. This keeps you from continuously pushing the buttons and possibly damaging the system.

Popularity and The Future

Over the years car companies have realized the popularity of Keyless Entry Remote Systems. It seems that almost every new car purchased today is presented with key fobs to make your life easier. In fact around 85%-90% of vehicles made are required to implement this technology in the new vehicles due to competitors. Eventually you will see all of them providing this to consumers around the world.

Newer versions have more features available like telling you the car is low on fuel. Others may let you know when the vehicle doesn't have the correct air pressure in your tires, which translates into decreased gas mileage. Then of course there are RKE systems that can start your car in the morning to warm it up before work. Everything is gearing society towards the future as well as helping everyone combat car theft. All of these benefits wrapped into one remote, who would have guessed it right?

The Possible Downfall

The only downfall to these devices is simply preference. Some systems have the buttons sticking out where they could accidentally be pressed while in your pocket. Then of course if you own an older vehicle and want to integrate a Keyless Entry Remote System into it, a lot of time and knowledge is needed to set up the wiring. Definitely something you might want an expert to do for you.

When it's all said and done the future is here and has been for several years regarding Keyless Entry Remote systems. Making our daily lives easier is what technology is all about.<bio>CheapFobs.com specializes in bringing you thousands of unadvertised Keyless Entry Remote Auctions.
CRM is like discovering the world of sounds after you get your first hearing aid. That's the best analogy once can use to describe just how powerful CRM is. In fact may financial executives are calling CRM the new business frontier.

When a company leverages its business performance management software with the CRM tool suddenly the fuzziness is all gone. It seems that there's always a fuzziness that surrounds a customer =96 how profitable has that customer been and how profitable could it actually have been had that customer been tracked into the future. CRM can do that for you. It truly will take you into a new frontier for your business.

In fact many companies that are already using CRM systems say that it has completely changed their view of what it really means to track your customers. This comprehensive system leaves nothing unturned. You'll know everything you need to know about your customer to provide the best customer service around.

If you ask potential customers what they find missing from interactions with business it's that customer service doesn't exist anymore. People are tired of taking to computerized systems. There also tired of having to repeat their stories over and over to various staff to get what they want. When you run a CRM system you have happy customers.

But let's be clear here. Not all CRM systems are the same and so you need to take your time and investigate each one you are considering. Some CRM packages only offer transactional customer data; others are more comprehensive and analytical.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Software is one program that is definitely worth considering. Why? Because it's not only affordable it's flexible, and it can work with the growth of your company.

How much emphasis should you put on customer satisfaction compared with employee satisfaction? With the right CRM you don't have to make a judgment call. You can keep both customer and employee happy. In fact with CRM your employees are going to be very satisfied too because they have knowledge and knowledge is power.

Now when a customer calls they can easily and quickly handle any problem. They can also sell them additional products and they can impress the customer because they "know everything" and the consumer doesn't have to continuously repeat the information. That means the customer is going to be much more pleasant to speak with and that will make your employers job much easier. So you see everyone wins.

There are some major points that you need to evaluate in CRM technology.

1. Functionality 2. Company Strategies 3. Company Goals 4. Web based =96 client side or hosted 5. Product Reliability 6. Scalability 7. Room To Grow 8. Vendors Reputation 9. Rapid Development Attainable 10. Customizable 11. Integrates with existing systems 12. user Interface =96 how easy

At the end of the day it's all about money. After all isn't that what it's always about? In order to invest in something you expect a return on your money and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM software will do exactly that. Once installed and in full operation you are going to see an increase in your bottom line =96 you will maximize profits and that's good for your business, your employees, and your customers. So why wait? <bio>Sayed Ally, is the lead CRM Analyst. His company provides, http://www.crmsoftwareprovider.com/ Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
When you are looking for a satellite TV provider, you should pay special attention to what type of satellite TV systems they use. Different providers use different satellite TV systems and many people don't even think about that. One company's satellite TV system may be superior to another's, so you should definitely ask about their satellite TV systems. How, then, are you supposed to know which satellite TV systems are good and which aren't? The best way is to check with a consumer reports periodical or website.

Consumer Reports Are Unbiased

The point of consumer reports, whether they be in magazine or website form, are to inform you of the latest information and ratings on many products, ranging from automobiles to electronics to, pretty much anything. The best part of consumer reports is that the information is unbiased, which means that whoever is testing the products has no brand preference whatsoever. They have a completely open mind going into the experiment with the various products and they write the reviews in an honest and straightforward manner, just as you would if you were trying out the products for the first time.

The Reports Are Thorough And Informative

That's why it's so imperative that you research the various satellite TV systems out there using consumer reports. The reports will let you know the latest information on the various satellite TV systems, as well as tell you the upsides and downsides to each one. More than likely, the price will be listed, as well as any other information the consumer reporter feels is necessary for the consumer to know. Then, the satellite TV systems will be rated using whatever ratings system that consumer report publication uses, usually with stars or points.

So, if you're searching for a satellite TV provider and you want to know which satellite TV systems are worth your time, pick up or log onto one of the many consumer report publications out there and conduct your satellite TV search the way smart consumers do it. After all, you don't want to have to go through the trouble of having your satellite TV connected only to find out that the satellite TV system they use is inferior to the company you were this close to going with. Educate yourself and shop smart, not only with satellite TV but with everything else, too. <bio>Simon Peters is the owner of http://on-satellite-tv.com, it is THE best source for advice on the subject of satellite TV, nothing to sell, just information . .. . </bio>

Software engineering, known as SE, is the development, design, maintenance and documentation of software by applying practices and various technologies from fields such as computer science, engineering, application domains, project management, digital asset management and interface design.

The conception, development and verification of a software system is what software engineering is all about. It is necessary to identify, define, realize and verify the resultant software's required characteristics. Necessary testing is required for attributes such as reliability, functionality, testability, maintainability, ease of use, availability and portability. In software engineering, software can be verified to meet these requirements by having design and technical specifications prepared and implemented correctly. The characteristics of the software development process are also important in software engineering. Development itself, development duration and risks in software development are examples of such characteristics.

A computer uses software as part of its system that allows the hardware to operate properly. Software can be system software or application software. System software includes the main operating system and a variety of other utilities that enable the computer and its applications to run. Application software includes the computer programs and relevant documentation responsible for end-user data processing tasks. This kind of software is developed for such tasks as word processing, payroll, inventory and production control.

Software Development

A series of processes undertaken systematically to improve a business through using computerized information systems is what is known as software development. There are two major components to software development, which are systems analysis and design.

Systems analysis is the specification of what exactly the system is required to do, or the main objective. Design is about how to make the system do what is required of it. For system analysis, it is required to study the current system by certain procedures in order to gather and interpret data and facts, identify any problems and use this data to improve the system currently in use. System design refers to the process of developing a new system, concentrating heavily on the technical specifications and other specifications that make the system operations.

Software Development Life Cycle

Software Development Life Cycle, or SDLC, is a sequence of events done by designers, analysts and users to develop and execute an information system. There are a number of stages to this practice, which can overlap. The stages are Preliminary investigation (which is feasibility study), Determination of system requirements (which is analysis), Design of system, Development of software, System testing, System Implementation and System Maintenance in that order. <bio>Visit the Software Management Institute, an association and resource for software professionals: http://www.softwaremanagementinstitute.com </bio>

A technologically advanced society has developed so many new ways of utilizing the information that pours from our brains. People seem to forget sometimes that all the information compiled in all the databases in the entire world were once the humble thoughts of someone's mind. Design ideas and changes of recent years have come about not solely by computer intervention, but by human thought processes.

Granted computers have aided in many types of design work, as is true with the designs that comprise the newest and best ideas that are emerging in the Modular Home industry. But computers lack the ability to feel like humans do. They lack the ability to match color and shape to a particular mood or element. Some would argue that these kinds of things are only a stones throw away from becoming something that computers will soon be capable of. And if that is true, I feel it will be a sad day for mankind, loosing who we are, what makes us unique, what keeps us driven, to computers. But at the moment computers can't do those kinds of things effectively. Computers can do a lot, but they will never be able to mimic the eye in relation to the heart and soul of person.

Like with many kinds of design that takes place in our modern world, modular homes have begun to incorporate the best the world has to offer not only in construction ideas and knowledge, but also in environmental control, ecological awareness, advanced electronics and computerized functionality, things that make home construction a personal affair.

More and more modular home building facilities are offering a larger and larger array of options that can be incorporated into a modular home design. Things like centralized advanced lighting controls, state of the art zone climate control, integrated protections systems that monitor the home for such things as water, fire and carbon monoxide dangers.
We all believe that we are practicing good cell phone etiquette when we venture out into the world with our cell phones and our daily mission. It is not uncommon for us to get a little wrapped up in ourselves and violate the basic rules of cell phone etiquette. This can be particularly difficult when we aren't even sure of the rules when it comes to cell phone etiquette.

Obviously, talking on your cell phone in public places that a quiet environment is paramount is considered quite rude. Libraries, court rooms, and high end restaurants are the most obvious, and yet people still believe that they are exempt from this very basic example of cell phone etiquette.

Even more appalling is the basic attention that a cell phone can require. Regardless of where we are or what we are doing, we can be reached, and of course, we can be distracted. Whether we are having a quiet moment with a loved one or a meeting with a potential client, cell phones can quickly drag away our attention. There is little that matches the glaringly obvious communication faux pas as the cell phone that creates the distraction and the answerer who puts their "live" individual on hold.

Cell phones come with voice mail, which is to provide us with the freedom of allowing a computerized voice to take a message for us. This means we are not obligated to take every single call, and of course, if we are busy we can reach the individual when we are through.

Hopefully most of us have enough basic cell phone etiquette to refrain from answering our cell phones while engaged in excretion activities. Why is it any less appropriate to allow the computerized voice to take a message when we are currently engaged with someone else's time and attention?

Perhaps this is the basic cell phone etiquette misunderstanding. Cell phones have the capacity to intrude on the value of other people, whether we are sitting in a restaurant talking loudly to an anonymous voice on the other end of the phone, or allowing our boss to interrupt a tender moment with our significant other. The moment our cell phones intrude on the respect of other people, we are guaranteed to be violating basic cell phone etiquette.

Cell phones definitely have their place in our society. However, with the exception of checking the caller ID to be assured that it is not a wayward child trying to reach a parent to retrieve them, cell phones need to come with more convenient off switches. Perhaps it would be more prudent to ask people to locate their off switch. <bio>Cathy Peterson writes about http://www.phonesunwired.com/Coupons/CellularFactory.html, http://www.phonesunwired.com and http://www.phonesunwired.com/Coupons/T-Mobile.html </bio>

Pursuing an online IT degree can not only add to your education and beef up your resume; it can also boost your career and put you on the fast track to success. If you are tossing around the idea of going back to school, here are 5 reasons why an online IT degree is the right choice for you.

Good Reason #1: Convenience

There's no doubt that getting an online IT degree is more convenient than getting your degree the traditional way. It used to be that going back to school required you to rearrange your schedule, risking or perhaps even leaving your job so that you would be able to attend classes. And as if that weren't enough, you also had to sacrifice valuable time normally spent with your family and loved ones.

An online format changes all of that. Instead of planning your life around your degree, plan your degree around your life: Log in, check messages, and do coursework all at your convenience. If you want to "go" to class in the middle of the night in your pajamas, no one will be the wiser for it. If you want to take advantage of the time you save not having to commute, you can even take an extra class or two and finish your degree a little faster.

Good Reason #2: Job Security

These days, you have your choice of online degrees you can pursue. Information technology personnel are in demand. The more businesses turn to computerized systems to run everything from inventory lists to complicated company networks, the clearer it becomes that information technology is the way of the future.

Businesses in particular need IT personnel in three specific areas: computer systems, programming, and networking. Most businesses have computer systems that need to be set up and maintained. In addition, some businesses, particularly large companies, program their own systems in-house. And with any moderate or large sized business, there is a network that allows everyone's computers to network, which will also need to be set up and maintained.

No matter what happens to other industries, these jobs are not going to go away, because they handle the things businesses are founded on. An online IT degree will ensure you job security, by making you eligible to work in one of the most necessary industries in today's business world.

Good Reason #3: Earning Power

The addition of a degree very often means a salary increase, but IT jobs are especially lucrative. The salaries of IT personnel entering the workforce typically start at about $45,000 per year. In addition, you have the option to add management training to your online IT degree, which will make you eligible for management positions starting at $80,000 or more per year.

Good Reason #4: Room for Advancement

An online IT degree puts you into a career where you will have plenty of room for advancement. IT manager positions start out paying between $80,000 and $112,000 per year; increasing exponentially the higher you go. The business world's dependence on information technology has created a large IT workforce, which requires many high-level managers to keep the system running smoothly.

Good Reason #5: Availability of Perks

As with any job that has a lot of room for advancement, the higher up you go the more perks you get to enjoy. Many IT managers enjoy things like paid travel, expense accounts, bonuses, and benefits such as stock options. Having an online IT degree under your belt widens your possible career options dramatically, perhaps even making you eligible for careers and perks such as these.

If you want to beef up your resume with a degree or are looking for a career change, an online IT degree might be just the thing for you. With the convenience of getting an online degree, combined with the benefits of working in the IT industry, the decision to get your online IT degree is the first and best step toward a successful life and career. <bio>Andy West is a freelance writer for Virginia College.
With the advent of high speed internet/broadband connections in most homes and business locations in the United States, marketing with videos on the internet exploded. How did this happen and why is it effective?

A mere 20 years ago, we were talking about whether or not we should risk trying to `communicate' on the computerized system created by the Department of Defense (known as the `internet'), and utilized by universities throughout the country as a tool for communication and research. Heads of businesses and agencies at the time resisted the possibility of compromising data traversing through the DOD and university systems.

And then along came Apple computers and Microsoft=85 and the world changed forever. Hardware and software was created, and as soon as product hit the market, Silicon Valley companies began the furious race to make the next product better and more desirable. Video marketing on the internet today is no exception.

In a nutshell, video marketing, and constantly improved software and compression, literally brings the salesperson and his spiel to the consumer, at his/her convenience. And use of videos is not limited to a sales venue. Videos on MySpace and UTube and other social communication sites would clog the airways were it not for high speed internet/broadband capabilities.

But the sales venue is our particular interest. Stop and think about what happened (before the internet was born) when you entered the local grocery store or corner clothing outlet. You were probably greeted (sometimes by name) and then you were given the newest and latest information about what they had available for sale that might interest you. Voila, the internet video. You are greeted (not by name=85yet) and then provided with information that will help you decide if that market or product is something you want or need. The sales pitch is highly refined and designed to capture your interest and imagination. And it is highly effective.

Now, turn the tables and put yourself in the position of the marketer. And dream of the possibilities of internet video sales for your market=85 We will have more on this subject in the next few weeks. <bio>Sharon Elrod is a copywriter for http://www.mandarichmediagroup.com </bio>

Manufacturing water purifier and filtration systems has become a huge business in the industrialized countries of our planet. Companies manufacturing water purifier and filtration systems in the U.S. ship them to developing countries. Foreign companies manufacturing water purifier and filtration systems ship them to the U.S.

Some of these water purifier and filtration systems are intended for municipal water treatment, while others are manufactured for home use. All must adhere minimally to the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. Companies manufacturing water purifier and filtration systems for use in the U.S. must adhere to EPA and FDA regulations as well.

U.S. government standards from the EPA require two different levels of water "cleaning" for purifier and filtration systems.

* Filtration Systems: Any type of water filtration system must remove at least 99.99% of bacteria, chemicals, and other contaminants. Filtration systems must also remove lead and other harmful metals and minerals. This is considered "4 Log" or simple filtration.

* Purifier Systems: All water purifier systems must provide "7 Log" reduction of contaminants. If you have "7 Log" contaminant reduction, your purifier has removed 99.99999% of bacteria, chemicals, and other contaminants.

What This Means to You

If you are directly involved in manufacturing water purifier and filtration systems, this means your products all must be of high quality, and will require constant testing to be sure they conform to government standards. Your filtration systems must all remove the proper percentage of contaminants, as must your purifiers. You cannot sell a filtration system and make claims that it purifies water. All must meet EPA requirements.

If you are not directly involved in manufacturing water purifier and filtration systems, the difference between purifiers and filtration systems may seem minimal. It may seem as though it doesn't matter whether you purchase a purifier or a water filtration system. At a glance, removal of 99.99% or 99.99999% of contaminants may not look like a huge difference.

What it means, however, is that a purifier must be one thousand times (1000x) as effective as a filtration system! To put it another way, you have a choice as to how clean you want your water. Are you content to remove just "1 bug" from your water glass, and leave 999 bugs in there? Or would you rather remove "1000 bugs" from your glass of water? Drinking water purifiers must give you super-clean water in even the most highly contaminated and dangerous circumstances.

Challenge to Manufacturers

Our challenge to manufacturers is to make clean water available to all who need it. Manufacturers should be working to reduce the costs of manufacturing water purifier and filtration systems so that they are more readily available in remote areas and undeveloped countries. People in those countries urgently need filtration systems, whereas we in developed countries have very potable water flowing from our municipal water supply. Those in need often cannot afford clean water, though, given the current costs of manufacturing water purifier and filtration systems.

Manufacturers need to couple their desire for profit to humanitarian compassion, and create ways to provide purifiers, or at least filtration systems, at much lower cost. <bio>=A92007, Anna Hart.
If you're considering a career in medical transcription, you may be wondering where you can find training. The fact is that you'll find plenty of training options, from hands-on schools with required classes to attend to online or correspondence courses. The problem is not in finding training options, but in finding the best training.

Start by looking at the school's reputation with former students. Having one or two posted statements by former students probably isn't sufficient. After all, you can't even be certain those students actually graduated from that training or that their statements are accurate. Anyone can post a glowing review on a website. Ask to talk to some graduates of the program. Remember that the people you call will have been screened by the training program and will have pledged to give good reviews, but you can still ask some pertinent questions that will help you make your decisions.

You should also take a close look at the amount of automated material you'll be handling and whether any of your time will be spent with real people who can offer personal training, feedback and advice. Its fine to take some automated tests and there's no doubt that computerized activities are an excellent source of practice and training. But when you finish an automated test with a score of 70, you may be upset that you didn't do better. When you're talking to those real people, you may find that most people have trouble with that particular exercise or given some real advice that will help you do better on future exams. Computerized work has its place, but shouldn't be 100 percent of your training.

Help in finding work after you've completed the medical transcription course is also a big incentive to choose a particular training option. In some cases, the training may include access to a website, newsletter or job positing forum that unites medical transcriptionists with potential employers. Whether you're looking for a full-time job in a health care facility or planning to use your knowledge to start a home-based business, your training will be useless without clients or an employer. Look for training opportunities that can help you past handing you a certificate of completion.

Convenience may very well be the deciding factor for some people. If you're already working a full time (or even part time) job, juggling demands of family and still trying to make some time for yourself, you probably already know that having time for school is going to be difficult. If this is the case, consider online training. You can study at your own rate. Don't have time during the week? Spend some of your weekend hours on your training materials. Just remember that the training won't finish itself and you have to make the commitment to complete the work if you want to start this exciting new career.

There are plenty of options when it comes to training for a medical transcription career. All you need to do is find the one that's perfect for you. <bio>Visit http://www.total-transcription.com | http://www.total-transcription.com/sitemap1.html or http://www.total-transcription.com/links.html for more information on a career in Medical Transcription. </bio>

If it seems like everywhere you turn you're hearing about GPS and the hottest new navigation units, you're not alone. GPS has become something that everyone is after. It may seem like just another trend at first but it certainly does have its positive attributes. If you're deciding whether or not you really need a GPS system, consider a few points first. It's never a good idea to rush right out and buy something without really knowing about how it applies to you and your lifestyle.

If you spend a lot of time on the road travelling by vehicle, then a GPS unit may be something that can help you. It can certainly cut down the time you spend searching for addresses by map or online before heading out. It's something you can easily and quickly refer to for direction.

A GPS unit can actually help you find a specific business like a hotel or gas station. This can prove to be extremely valuable when you're low on fuel and in need of some kind of accommodations. Find the exact one that you want and see how to get there with no problems.

When making your decision to get a GPS unit, don't rush into the first one that you come across. Just like any other item, you should learn as much as you can about it and compare prices. After market systems are just as good as the ones that come already installed in your vehicle.
