The top money making majors vary every year. These majors though most of the times are the hardest to complete, are usually the most rewarding at the end. I just looked up these statistics because I was curious about my major which is economics. Here I will compile a list of the top college majors to make money; I will then list the types of jobs you can get with that major.

1.)Any type of engineering. This includes Chemical Engineering ($55,900), Electrical Engineering ($52,899), Mechanical Engineering ($50,672), and civil engineering ($45,000). These majors are usually the hardest to complete due to massive homework and projects. They require a lot of mathematical skills which I don't possess, and many other people don't. It is not for everybody. The amounts of jobs you can acquire with this are pretty absurd. The employment growth for the majority of engineering jobs is moving at a pace faster than most occupations. The jobs for these majors include: Designing anything from bridges to skyscrapers, to creating medical advancements and much, much more, just google it.

2.)Computer Science ($50,046)- With the endless growth potential of computers and the internet, computer science skills are very important, and because of this, people who have skills in this are paid very well. Believe me when I say, I've tried to program on my website and it is pretty impossible for an average joe like me. I tried to outsource some of my work but it would cost a ton. The work load is a ton for this major, but if you are a fan of computers and believe in the future growth of computers and the internet, then this major is for you. Jobs for this major include: Database manager, Systems analyst, Applications programmer, Computer programmer.

3.)Accounting ($45,723) - If you like numbers, this is for you. As for me, I like numbers, but only on my pay checks. This major can be EXTREMELY boring, but it could be worth it for your post college opportunities. I always assume people are lazy, and people will remain lazy and don't have the knowledge to do their taxes, accountants will always be in great demand. This job has after than average growth. These jobs include: Management accountants, Government accountants, Public accountants, Auditors

4.)Economics/Finance($45,200)- Finally, we get to my major Economics. Let me tell you about Econ. It can be fun, I mean if you are a complete loser like me. With economics you can analyze anything from tacos with computers to clowns and dynamite. It can be very interesting. But on the other hand, with the wrong professor you can have an awfully boring time. If you have an interest in this major, I recommend reading the book "Freakonomics". This book really opened up my mind to economics. Job growth is very strong for finance and economics. These jobs include: Economists in government, business, academic fields.

More majors you can choose: Business Administration-$40,000, Marketing $37,500, and Liberal Arts at roughly $31,000<bio>Visit Campusbathrooms.com - College Resource for Bathroom Reviews</bio>

Software engineering, known as SE, is the development, design, maintenance and documentation of software by applying practices and various technologies from fields such as computer science, engineering, application domains, project management, digital asset management and interface design.

The conception, development and verification of a software system is what software engineering is all about. It is necessary to identify, define, realize and verify the resultant software's required characteristics. Necessary testing is required for attributes such as reliability, functionality, testability, maintainability, ease of use, availability and portability. In software engineering, software can be verified to meet these requirements by having design and technical specifications prepared and implemented correctly. The characteristics of the software development process are also important in software engineering. Development itself, development duration and risks in software development are examples of such characteristics.

A computer uses software as part of its system that allows the hardware to operate properly. Software can be system software or application software. System software includes the main operating system and a variety of other utilities that enable the computer and its applications to run. Application software includes the computer programs and relevant documentation responsible for end-user data processing tasks. This kind of software is developed for such tasks as word processing, payroll, inventory and production control.

Software Development

A series of processes undertaken systematically to improve a business through using computerized information systems is what is known as software development. There are two major components to software development, which are systems analysis and design.

Systems analysis is the specification of what exactly the system is required to do, or the main objective. Design is about how to make the system do what is required of it. For system analysis, it is required to study the current system by certain procedures in order to gather and interpret data and facts, identify any problems and use this data to improve the system currently in use. System design refers to the process of developing a new system, concentrating heavily on the technical specifications and other specifications that make the system operations.

Software Development Life Cycle

Software Development Life Cycle, or SDLC, is a sequence of events done by designers, analysts and users to develop and execute an information system. There are a number of stages to this practice, which can overlap. The stages are Preliminary investigation (which is feasibility study), Determination of system requirements (which is analysis), Design of system, Development of software, System testing, System Implementation and System Maintenance in that order. <bio>Visit the Software Management Institute, an association and resource for software professionals: http://www.softwaremanagementinstitute.com </bio>

Computer science and information technology has long been known as a great field to get into, but lately there has been a rumor going around that the industry is in a slump, causing fewer students to enroll in a computer science degree program. Unfortunately, the rumor is not at all true, and students are being turned away from a field they are interested in for no reason: The technology industry is still booming, still creating lots of new jobs every day, and still a great field in which to work.

Here are just a few reasons why you should still get that computer science degree and pursue your dream career:

Technology-related jobs are expanding at a phenomenal rate. Many students in the United States worry that the computer science industry is short-lived, because so many corporations are outsourcing technical support and other services to foreign countries such as India. The truth is, though, that the IT industry in the United States is growing far faster than the outsourcing trend. Many more computer science jobs are being created every year than those being eliminated in favor of outsourcing.

A technological world means job security. Let's face it; we are now more dependent on technology than ever. Common sense, then, should tell us that technological jobs couldn't possibly be decreasing, when technology itself is on the rise! As more and more of our life is computerized, more and more IT jobs will be created to support and maintain our accustomed lifestyle. This means that a computer science degree offers job security -- your particular specialty will always be in demand.

Enrollment in computer science degree programs is down. Unfortunately, many students have taken to heart that computer science is a bad field to get into, and as a result fewer students are enrolling in computer science degree programs. Since the IT industry is in fact expanding within the United States, the result is that the students currently enrolled in computer science programs will have less competition entering the workforce when they graduate.

Computer science jobs are just plain fun. Computers are a hobby and a passion for many people. If you love working with computers and technology, don't be persuaded to choose another career path by the rumors that IT is a doomed field in the United States. The truth is, of course, that the industry is still booming as much as, or even more than ever, but it's about more than just that. How much is it worth to you to have a job you love? Many American adults never experience this satisfaction; so don't turn away from your dream just because somebody tells you the industry is failing, particularly when they are wrong.

Despite what the rumor mills have to say, computer and technology related jobs still have a lot going for them, making a computer science degree a smart choice for any student. <bio>Andy West is a freelance writer for Virginia College.
Engineering is a great career choice for many. With 1.4 million engineering jobs in the U.S. alone, it's no wonder this career field is a popular one. Let's take a look at a few reasons why engineering is such a hot and rewarding career.

Challenging Work

Engineers get to combine their creativity, mathematics and science background with technology in order to help solve everyday problems. They get to work on the design and development of new products, help with their production, monitoring, maintenance and testing.

In alphabetical order, the main engineering specializations are: aerospace, agricultural, biomedical, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, electronics, environmental, health and safety, industrial, marine, materials, mechanical, mining and geological, nuclear and petroleum.

Career Tidbits

The following list includes some interesting information about this career field according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook:

- Engineers generally work 40 hours per week, but the workload may increase under tight deadlines. Daily engineering tasks often involve work outside the desk space including lab research, field work, exploration and construction sites, monitoring stations and more.

- Engineers need to continue their educations to keep on top of the latest research and technological changes. Some companies offer funding for this. Not staying on top of the changes can mean the difference between maintaining employment and being laid off.

- The Internet has opened the doors for telecommuters (who may often come aboard for less money via long-distance arrangements), but local engineers are still in demand. Engineers often work on-site teaming up with others and their support staff.

- In 2004, engineers with higher degrees (Master's and PhD's) earned more. And for specialty engineers, workers earned well into the 6-figure ranges.

- Rapid growth in the technology sector means companies must seek the means to stay ahead of competitors with product and technology development, testing, and monitoring. Therefore, engineers are in demand and will be for some time to come. <bio>So check into career opportunities in your area and see what rewards you can reap as an engineer! Visit http://www.engineeringcareersecrets.com/ and learn more about this exciting career field today. </bio>

Civil engineering is among the oldest branches of the vast field of engineering. Civil engineers create, construct, and maintain all types of public systems and structures, and are literally the backbone of any city or town. Civil engineers are often responsible for any of the following tasks: design and/or construction of road systems, municipal buildings and centers, airports, as well as water supply and sewage systems that include tunnels, bridges, dams, and filtration structures. The general field of civil engineering is an umbrella under which there are many sub-fields, including structural engineering, building construction, environmental engineering, transportation, and geotechnical engineering (soil and rock mechanics). If you are currently working as a Civil Engineer, you know that there are a variety of jobs available within the discipline. And if you have a graduate degree in Civil Engineering, you know that the career prospects are even broader. It has never been easier to earn a Master's degree in Civil Engineering. Online programs offer a great deal of convenience and flexibility. By earning your Civil Engineering Master's degree online, you give yourself the chance to expand and develop your knowledge and scope of the field, and thus broaden your career possibilities.

Civil Engineers often find employment near cities that house major industrial and/or commercial hubs. In areas such as these, engineers are needed to design and build safe transportation systems, water and sewage systems, as well as maintain, repair, or replace current roads and municipal construction (bridges, tunnels, etc). Because employment opportunities within the field of Civil Engineering depend on the geographic area and need for specific work, it is important to be as competitive a candidate as possible when looking for employment. Earning an online graduate degree in Civil Engineering will give you an edge, even if you are currently employed in the field. The career opportunities are seemingly limitless in the field. A Civil Engineer can hold a managerial post, ranging from construction site manager working out in the field to a city engineer designing and implementing roads and structures on computer-based interfaces. There are also many types of support positions available for a Civil Engineer, including working as a designer, conducting research to further scientific knowledge and design methods in the field, and, of course, teaching. Many of the higher-ranking (and higher-paying) positions in the field of Civil Engineering are made available to those who hold a Master's degree or higher.

If you are considering earning a graduate degree in Civil Engineering, consider enrolling in an online program. There are a number of good reasons to do so. Number one is convenience. You can continue working your regular work schedule and earn you degree simultaneously. Many online programs offer lectures via streaming video that you can watch at any time on your computer, from home or at work. And all of your assignments can be submitted to your professors using your email. With the convenience of online learning also comes flexibility. Because you can fit your class time into your schedule, you don't have to sacrifice family commitments or leisure time. Earning your Civil Engineering degree online is an almost ideal way to achieve your highest career aspirations.

Many online graduate degree programs in Civil Engineering are specifically designed for the working Civil Engineering professional. They are offered through fully accredited Universities, and the programs are planned around the most current recommendations of the ASCE (the American Society of Civil Engineers). Among the degrees that can be earned are a Masters of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Construction Engineering or Structural Engineering. There are also programs available that emphasize the technological side of the field, providing instruction to those who are more inclined to do design work on a computer. Whatever you decide to do, you can often develop your own study strategy within a field of specialization that is related to your current occupation.

When you decide that you want and need a graduate degree in Civil Engineering, you must consider earning it online. The approach to continuing your education is convenient, it is adaptable, and it is simply the most current way to advance your career. Having a Master's degree brings with it not only the professional development, but also a sense of accomplishment, and the testimony to current and future employers that you are resolute in being the best Civil Engineer that you can be. <bio>Mark is a director of 3 Internet Companies, is a published author and has written many articles on a widespread number of topics.
If you are an undergraduate and working, you can improve your career and living by pursuing an online bachelor degree course. It may not be possible for you to go for study for a college degree, but you can do an online one without disturbing your present schedule of work and staying where you are now. What you need is a computer and an internet connection at your home. Wherever you are =96 in any corner of the United States =96 you can pursue an online bachelor degree course.

An online bachelor degree is also affordable. Studying in a college online for a degree may cost you in average $12,000 a year, but an online program will cost much less. Costs vary between colleges. Before you opt for any course and college, it is very important that you must do a little research about the cost and the programs.

Also, by choosing an online program from an institution in your home state, you can save a great deal of money. For example, an online degree from Florida Gulf Coast University has tuition costs of only $12,410 if you are a Florida resident and for non-residents, the fee more than triples to $45,902. Some employers also provide tuition assistance to their employees. So before choosing an education online program, check with your employer and find out if they provide tuition assistance. If the degree you select is work-related, chances are good that your employer will provide at least part of the costs.

Some affordable bachelor degree online programs are Bachelor of Science in Business and Management from East Carolina University, Bachelor of Science in Business and Management from Fort Hays State University, Bachelor of Science in Business and Management from the University of Wyoming, Bachelor of Science in Communications by University of Phoenix, Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management - Liberal Studies by Ashford University, B.S. in Communication by Kaplan University, BA-English/Professional Writing by Ellis College of New York Institute of Technology, Bachelor of Arts in Communication by Regent University and BS in Communication by Drexel University.

Besides, there are hundreds of colleges and universities providing bachelor degree online in Accounting, Applied Management, Business Administration, Business Communications, Business Information Systems, Business Leadership, eBusiness and eCommerce, Economics, Finance, Hotel and Hospitality Management, Human Resources, International Business, Management, Marketing, Organizational Management, Project Management, Real Estate and Small Business Management.

If you are interested in computer education, there are colleges and universities offering bachelor degree online in Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Security, Databases, Graphics and Multimedia, Information Systems, Information Technology, Internet Networks, Programming, Software Engineering, Technology Management, Telecommunications, Web Design and Web Development. Walden University, University of Phoenix, Saint Leo University, National American University, DeVry University, Ashford University, Ellis College of New York Institute of Technology Colorado Technical University Online, Columbia Southern University, Capella University , American InterContinental, University Online University of Maryland University College / UMUC Online, Strayer University, Regis University, Drexel University and Western Governors University are providing these bachelor degree courses.

Before you go for any of the course in any of the online universities, check the credibility and validity of the program.
In today's work place, Ergonomics has really become a buzz word. If you are not aware of Ergonomics, it is just a science which tries to minimize the possibility of stress or other risks at work place and at the same time with out affecting your efficiency. Normally employees struggle with muscular skeletal disorders at work place because of the equipment which they use. The equipment includes everything from your chair to mouse pad and from computer monitor to your arm rest.

Employer's Choice:

With the invention of the ergonomic products, the risk of the injuries has really decreased at work place and at the same time the productivity of the employees also increasing considerably. Hence both employers and employees are very happy with this new science. So many employers are making their work place by using all the ergonomic principles. Majority of them feel that the over all productivity of the employees will increase drastically which finally reflects in the bottom line of the company.

Ergonomists:

The people who design and develop ergonomic products are called ergonomists. They use principles of psychology, industrial engineering, biometrics and of many other sciences while designing the products. They normally use simple two or three dimensional mannequins to simulate human bodies. But, in some situations they also go for advanced technologies like computer aided designing and computer aided manufacturing.

Find One Online:

Especially for the computer professionals and for the people who use computers for most of the time these Ergonomic products can do a lot of help. For example, Ergolance an online company offers a wide variety of ergonomic products. If you are not comfortable in using your computer mouse then try and use Quill Mouse, which you can find at http://www.ergolance.com/. The cost of this mouse is as low as $35. It can really help you in maximizing natural hand positioning through the adherence to ergonomic principles. Its innovative design greatly minimizes the risk of getting any injuries at work place. I am sure that you fall in love, if you strat using these ergonomic products. They are a real boon to all working professionals of modern society. <bio>Cathy Peterson writes about http://www.Ergolance.com/,Ergonomic Arm and http://www.ErgoArm.com/ </bio>

Computer Science degrees are offered at hundreds, if not thousands of colleges across the country for a good reason; the demand for computer experts has never been higher. In fact, the need for computer scientists will continue to rise through at least 2015 according to the United State Department of Labor's 2006 report on career growth.

What many people don't realize is that part of the hiring increase of the future in the computer sciences area includes a trend toward more specialization. According to the Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook, "The explosive use of computers has created a high demand for specialists to provide advice to users, as well as for day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of computer systems and networks."

When considering a career in the computer sciences, you should consider colleges and universities that offer a variety of programs under the umbrella of either computer science degrees or information technology degrees, as the terms are interchangeable. Look to see if the school offers just one degree or if they offer several different specializations. Ideally, a school should offer at least three bachelor's degrees that are more tightly focused, such as Computer Programming, Network Engineering or Database Administration, all of which would fall under Management Information Systems (MIS).

The Department of Labor's report also recommends that anyone pursuing a computer science degree be sure to pursue ongoing education after a degree is achieved and a job is landed. Because of the rapidly changing face of computing, it's essential that anyone working in this industry continue to build on his education by getting additional certifications and adding new skills every few years.

Find a college that also offers ongoing certifications that are licensed by leaders in the industry, such as Microsoft's various programs, Cisco's CCNA and Net+. Knowing that you can return to your alma mater for continuing education is a great way to ensure that your certification courses will be of the same high caliber as your undergraduate classes.

Outlook is Good for Properly Trained Specialists

The Occupational Outlook Handbook of 2006 is adamant in its belief that there is no end in sight to the increasing need for computer specialists. It lists numerous specific titles that require intense training in particular areas, including:

Computer Systems Analysts Computer Programmers Software Engineers/Developers (consistently growing as businesses continue to require new, highly specialized software to suit their needs) Database Administrators Computer Support Specialists Data Communication Analysts/Webmasters (increasingly popular in retail as more businesses open online, virtual storefronts) Computer Systems Administrators (expected to be one of the fastest growing careers in the next five years) Cyber Security (a relatively new field that has taken off like a rocket as online terrorism and corporate espionage has increasingly threatened corporate computer systems)

The best computer science degree programs will not only include a wide range of specializations, but will also offer different types of degrees as well. Ideally, a college should offer Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's Degrees along with various types of certification. This will help guarantee that the teaching staff is current on all the latest advancements and also giving you the most educational options. With computer training being in such high demand, you may even find that you can get a great job with one degree and get reimbursement through your employer to pursue a higher-level degree.

With so many reasons to go into the computer sciences and so many highly specialized career options available, pursuing one of the many specialized computer science degrees now offered is a great investment in your future. <bio>Andy West is a freelance writer for Virginia College. Virginia College offers many courses to help you obtain your Computer Science Degree.
Computer Forensics is the scientific study of computers or computer related data in relation to an investigation by a law enforcement agency for use in a court of law. While this technology may be as old as computers themselves, the advances in technology are constantly revising this science.

In the technological old days, computer forensics was mostly related to data dumps, printing out every keystroke that had been logged on a computer in a series of eight digits, all of them zeroes and ones. Literally cases of paper would be used for the printing of the materials. Systems analysts would then have to convert all of the data into hex and then translate the value into whatever the actual keystroke was. In this way, it was possible to go over all of the data and figure out at what point the computer and the corresponding program crashed. Like computers and technology, Computer forensics has evolved by leaps and bounds since those days of old.

While all computer language still ultimately boils down to ones and zeroes or binary and then hex, the means by which programs are created, run and utilized has changed drastically. This new science has done well to keep up with the task at hand. Now hard drives can be wiped clean. However, without an unconditional format (and in rare cases, even with the unconditional switch) the data can still be retrieved. It takes an expert in computer forensics however. It takes someone who is familiar with the technology of the computer to reconstruct all of the data that has been wiped off of the hard drive.

Computer forensics can be used to track emails, instant messaging and just about any other form of computer related communications. This can be necessary, especially in the world today. Experts have even advanced the technology to the point that they can track data real time, or while it is actually being sent and received. This is a mind-numbing task when you think about the billions of communications going on around the globe at any given time, but the science of computer forensics is constantly advancing every bit as quickly or sometimes even faster than the technology they are responsible for investigating.

It is an interesting aspect of technology that is often overlooked. Computer forensics have been used to solve many crimes and should be considered a viable tool in many ways and the study of this subject is constantly growing along with technology. <bio>Forensics HQ http://forensicshq.com/ investigates the world of forensics and crime scene investigation. </bio>

Online learning is a relatively new phenomena delivered courtesy of the availability and pricing of the computer. This new trend in learning, however, is taking off at the speed of light. As more and more students realize the benefits of these courses, distance learning master degrees are becoming more common.

Distance learning master degrees still require all the key features of a degree earned in a classroom setting, but they give students the freedom to live (and earn) a little while they learn. These factors alone account for the biggest reasons why more and more people and more and more universities are seeing distance learning master degrees as viable options for advancing education.

While distance learning programs tend to vary depending on the institution involved, they still require coursework, tests and even major research, especially in the case of the masters programs. Although a student can perform coursework in their bathrobes, these programs do not typically skimp on the workload involved.

Distance learning masters degrees simply provide a new way for students to learn on their own schedules. These programs make it feasible for people already employed in their field of choice to continue doing so while they improve their chances for advanced and higher potential money earning.

These distance learning programs used to be rather limited in their scope. This is not the case any more. As more and more universities realize this is a viable option for solid teaching, especially for students who thrive in this type of setting, the program choices are opening wide up. While some more hands-on degrees might not be available, or in-person course work or labs will still be required, the choice is still pretty amazing.

Some of the more common distance learning master degrees offering fall into these areas of study:

* Education. It is possible for teachers to teach during the day and earn their masters at night. These programs can really open doors for those who want to advance in this field and even move up and on to administration.

* Government. From engineering work to public administration, the online offerings for government workers are pretty amazing.

* Computer science. It makes sense these degrees would be found for online study. Some of the more popular choices here include basic computer science, computer engineering and more.

* Business. Masters of business administration degrees might be one of the biggest draws for online learning. In addition to MBAs, accounting, financial management and even international business programs can be found, as well.

* Medical. While hands-on components will still almost always be required, it is possible for students to take much of the necessary coursework online. Nursing, psychology and other similar programs are common.

The above is just a small sampling of the masters programs students can take online from accredited universities. The truth is that while these programs have not eliminated a need for face-to-face learning, they are making it possible for many to remove the roadblocks that stand between them and advanced degrees. <bio>For more information on distance learning, try visiting http://www.distancelearningopportunities.com - a website that specializes in providing distance learning related tips, advice and resources including information on distance learning master degree. </bio>

CAD was developed in the early 60s. Today it is the premier way to design, develop and optimized products. People use CAD every day to design virtually every product you see. Generally, designers use CAD to design a product, and then produce prints to manufacture that product. A print is a picture of a part or assembly that is very exact. It includes the dimensions and a parts list used to manufacture a product.

CAD is the use of computer based software packages that assist engineers, architects and other design professionals in their designs. CAD is the part of the main designing process and involves both software and sometimes hardware. Current software packages range from 2D vector based drafting systems to 3D solid and surface modelers.

Computer Aided Drafting software packages can generally be broken into two groups. The groups are 2-D drafting packages or 3-D drafting packages. Most all software packages are moving to 3-D design. 3-D design is really the next generation of CAD. Utilizing 3-D design, engineers can make a model of their product. They can then look over this model for any apparent defects before it is ever made.

CAD is used to design, develop and optimize products. CAD is mainly used for the engineering of models and/or drawings of components. It is also used throughout the engineering process from concept to design of products. These products can be used by end consumers or used in other products. For example, you can design a bolt in CAD, and then use it in a Sub-Assembly in a planetary, which is a part of an earth-moving machine. CAD is also used in the design of tools and machinery. Finally, it is used in the design of all types of buildings from sheds to shopping malls. <bio>Ivan Irons runs http://www.cncinformation.com/CNCBlog/ were you can get the latest on auto cad blocks, computers aided design, and CAD Blocks. </bio>

One of the most important decisions anyone has to do is deciding what they want to do in life. Some people know at a very young age what career field they want to pursue. Many high school students face the decision of going directly into the workforce or continuing on with their education and receive a degree in a field they want to work in. If they choose to pursue a higher degree, people are also faced with what major they want to study in college. Some people start college with an undecided major, while others may think they are going down the path that is right for them and end up changing majors numerous times. One major that is growing and covers a wide range of career fields is a Computer Science degree.

Some majors are not very flexible and easy to transition into another career field, such as teaching, accounting and pharmacy. More often then not if you are studying for a pharmacy degree, you are going to be working in a pharmacy, or if you are studying for a teaching degree, you're going to be in a classroom, teaching students. However, with a Computer Science degree, you can work in the career field of your choice, at the location of your choice.

With the way technology is in the 21st Century, every small, medium and large size business works with computers. Each and every day our lives revolve around technology and computer systems. This makes a Computer Science degree flexible in the respect that wherever there is a company, there is a need for computer technology degreed employees. Many business rely heavily on computers, such as accountants, advertising agencies, banks, hospitals and school districts, just to name a few. If there is a glitch in the computer system or a software program is not functioning properly, that can be a major problem for employers. This makes the field of computer technology all that much more important.

In a typical Computer Science degree program, students will receive the proper training to complete most computer tasks related with business information systems. Graduates of such a program will receive the knowledge and skills necessary for employment in management, designing of applications, as well as information systems. Some specific techniques students will learn while completing this program are elements of management integration with information systems, understanding current systems analysis and design and how to analyze interpret and apply information system functions that are important in day-to-day business. Besides computer skills, students also receive training in other areas of the business field. Students learn pertinent human resource management skills, decision-making in business organizations, legal and environmental issues, as well as professionalism in the workplace. While these skills are not specific to a Computer Science degree, they are directly related to working in a business environment.

The training in a Computer Science degree program, gives students the skills necessary to not only be successful in a computer technology workforce, but real-life situations. It also gives students the knowledge and power to be successful on an international level. Language in the computer technology field is universal, meaning that it is easy for anyone with a computer technology background to understand, no matter what the spoken language is. Computer technology is a growing career field and these jobs are available all over the world. <bio>Andy West is a freelance writer for Virginia College.
In this article we will look at some interesting experiments and science fair projects you can easily do with eggs from the refrigerator. You will discover that the common egg has some amazing properties you might not be aware of.

There are a number of egg science projects you can do but I will mention just a few here to spark your interest. I'm sure you will be able to think of many more by using a little imagination.

The Egg Drop Science Experiment

For this experiment you will come up with a way to cushion an egg in a small container so it doesn't break when dropped from a certain height. You can use something like a small coffee can that leaves enough room for your packaging around the egg to protect it from the fall.

You will need to do a little research to determine what might be suitable materials to keep the egg from breaking. Lots of room to experiment here for sure with different materials and arrangements of the egg in the container.

Do all your drop tests from a set height such as six to eight feet. Also drop the container on the same surface each time to keep your results consistent. As always with any science project, keep records of what you did and the results of each drop test.

The Crushing Strength Egg Science Project

One very interesting feature of eggs is their strength. That strength though is very dependent on the orientation of the egg to the force or weight that is applied to it.

So for this experiment you will determine if eggs are stronger lying flat or standing upright. You may also get an idea of how much stronger they are in one postion than the other. I think you will find this very surprising just how much a difference the position of the egg makes.

What you will need for this egg science project: 1. An empty egg carton 2. Some books 3. A couple of small trash bags 4. Some tape 5. A scale to weigh the books(optional)

Remove the top from the carton and place four eggs toward the center and in a rectangular arrangement. Leave a space between them on each row. Place a plastic bag on the table under the carton. Place the other bag over the eggs.

Now start placing books on the eggs one at a time. Make sure they are even and don't tip over. See how many you can place before an egg breaks. Weigh all the books used if you have a scale. You now have an idea of their strength end-to-end.

Test their strength lying flat:

Place a bag on the table and make four loops of tape with the sticky side out. Place the tape on the bag in about the same arrangement as the eggs were in the carton. This is to keep the eggs from rolling around.

Place another bag over the eggs and then start placing books. How many books did it take before an egg broke. Weigh the books if you have a scale. You now know whether eggs are stronger upright or lying flat. And you have an idea how much stronger they are in that one position than the other.

I hope you enjoyed these experiments and use your imagination to develop even more interesting egg science projects you can do at home. <bio>Doug Nicholson is a nuclear engineering technician, science hobbyist, and amateur inventor.
There are many different 8th grade science fair project ideas that you could use for your next assignment, these are used depending on the type of project that you wish to create and they are basically categorized in the sciences of physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, social sciences and environmental sciences. Each of your projects should have a guideline of how to use it and how to prove its efficiency. You should know that many interesting actual projects have developed from good ideas for science projects.

The best part about a science fair project is that you may have your very own group of science fair topic ideas and then you just need to select one and start working on a project that will allow you to compete in this activity that have formed part of education for a long time. A very good method for acquiring 8th grade science fair project ideas will be described in the next few lines if you're interested in understanding the basics of a science fair project.

The first thing that you should do is to pick one topic of the classification which was stated above, and once you have accomplished that you need to select one of the different subtopics that can be applied to the general topic that you just selected. It is very interesting to ask yourself a question about how things work, and if there are some questions that you cannot answer then those are very good ideas for science projects.

Another good technique for selecting science fair topic ideas will be to read the newspaper and watch television, see what interesting aspects of life are developing nowadays and try to explain them on a science fair project. That way you will get outstanding 8th grade science fair project ideas and with them you will be capable of winning a wonderful prize. And you will have an excellent group of ideas for science projects.

Keep in mind that for selecting the best 8th grade science fair project ideas your selection must be not only a great question, but a successful project also implies that you would be giving the answer by performing an experiment. So it is very important that you prepare yourself with all of the needed materials once you have reduced to one selection from your complete group of good ideas for science projects.

Try to make the project by yourself, ask as little assistance as you can and you will feel that your 8th grade science fair project ideas were incredible and that you accomplished everything by yourself; it will leave you with a sense of accomplishment that cannot be equaled if you win with the help of others. <bio>Check out Dean's website on how to choose summercamps for kids http://www.kids-summer-camps.info and Dean's Blog http://summercamps-for-kids.blogspot.com/ </bio>

It's a question every math teacher hears. Most dread it. Some - the most creative - practically look forward to it. But love it or hate it, no one teaches math for long before a student asks: "How is this gonna help me in the real world?" Quite a bit, in fact. By reading up on the many careers for which the study of mathematics is the best preparation, every teacher can learn to handle this question so as to build, not break, student confidence and attentiveness.

First of all, and most obviously, a student who understands math is a student with the kind of problem-solving skills needed in such always-well-paying areas as engineering, accounting, and the worlds of computers, science and technology.

While a degree in computer science is the traditional preparation for careers in computer software or hardware, more and more students are finding that a double major - in mathematics combined with computer science - gives them a sharper competitive edge in job searches. Software companies look for the creative approach to solving problems that students of math can deliver. As software technician Sara Ford has written, "Mathematics builds the foundation for learning how to problem solve. A chemical engineer is a chemical engineer, a biologist is a biologist, but a mathematician can learn how to become either one."

Math opens doors to a far wider set of occupations than merely those of the science-and-technology world - and these other opportunities are comparatively lucrative, too. Lawyers, for example, have found that training in math strengthens the all-important reasoning skills that win court cases. Law partner Mitchell Stabbe writes of the way in which the two disciplines complement each other: "While in law school and, now, in practicing law, I still find myself thinking and reasoning linearly, as I would in solving a math problem. Step A leads to Step B which leads to Step C and so forth.

In law, you start with a basic legal principle or proposition, apply the principle to the facts at hand and reach a conclusion. f(x) = y, so to speak."

Some business consultants, as well, begin their lives as math majors - and the all-important creative problem-solving skills that make or break advanced math students lead them to success in this field. To solve a difficult marketing problem, forecast likely long-range trends in consumer habits, or simply crunch large piles of numbers together, you need exactly the habits math students develop.

Price Waterhouse consultant Carla Martin tells the story of how her math background enabled her to succeed in the consulting department of one of the most powerful companies in finance: "For example, a company was interested in offering a new type of service to its customers. However, before doing so, they needed a way to figure out if this new service would be profitable and determine if the company would gain a large customer base by offering such a service."

"My first step was to determine the characteristics of potential customers. From that point, I developed mathematical formulas to select a representative sample of US residents whom we could survey to determine their interest in this new service to be offered. I helped design an unbiased questionnaire and supervised the survey administration. After we obtained the data, I developed computer programs and formulas to analyze the data. I then wrote a report containing our conclusions and presented it to our client."

Perhaps most intriguingly, a math background helps those innovators who are working in the places where science and the arts converge. After all, some of today's most enduring popular art was brought to you, in part, by math and science wonks - think of the special-effects technicians who made the Death Star explode and Middle-Earth glisten, the gamers who gave us all a Second Life, or the computer junkies who made Pixar a household name. (Even some great twentieth-century writers - Stanislaw Lem comes to mind - were well-trained in mathematics.)

Benjamin Weiss, writing for the Mathematical Association of America (the source of most of the essays quoted in this article), recalls the way his early love of both video games and applied math led him to his current career in computer imaging: "Linear algebra provided tools to flip and rotate graphics in three-dimensional perspective, the basis for countless computer games.

Physics and optics opened the door to use the computer as a virtual camera, taking color snapshots of imaginary landscapes and panoramas." Computer science and engineering; law and business; art and entertainment. Math relates to everything. Tell your students.<bio>Math Made Easy provides Math help for Algebra help, Geometry help, math homework help using math online tutorial services and math tutorial cd so you can watch your math scores soar.</bio>

Years ago, a computer science degree was seen as something that attracted mainly math and computer nerds. The stereotype may not have been fair, but it looks as though the computer science students have the last laugh in any event. Today, courses and programs of study in computers offer not only excellent job opportunities, but also some very creative courses as well. Thanks to the fact that computers have evolved so rapidly and are now being used in every field, graduates of these computer programs have a cachet and coolness factor that simply did not exist before.

A computer science degree, at its simplest, is any degree that studies computers and their systems in depth. Students in the computer sciences study subjects such as algorithms, programming languages, computer hardware, software, program design, and other subjects. Of course, degrees vary widely. Some students focus on theoretical or mathematical work, while others focus on studies that will allow them to build practical systems and software programs for businesses.

A student with a computer science degree has plenty of career options, many of them very creative and interesting. Advertising agencies, digital artists, and web design companies require graduates to help transform creative ideas into creative software, graphics, and multimedia.
