A miter saw is an essential tool if you are planning on cutting a miter edge on trim or baseboards. A basic miter saw will cut only or horizontal angles, but a compound miter saw will cut beveled edges. If you do a lot of this kind of work, you may want to invest in special features such as a slide that will allow the blade to move forward in order to cut a large piece.

A compound miter can cut straight or on a horizontal angle, but because of the tilting motor, it can also cut a bevel. A plain miter will not be able to do this. You use a miter saw by sitting it on a table and the spinning saw is pushed into the wood to make the cut. Miter saws are lightweight, durable and portable. They are easily carried from one job site to another.

There is an even more complex miter saw which is called a double bevel saw or a dual compound saw. They are even more versatile than the compound miter since they can tilt in either direction to make beveled edges.

A sliding compound miter saw works like a compound miter, but can also be pulled forward as the wood is cut, so that long pieces of wood can be mitered.

Put all of these features together, and you get the dual compound sliding saw. These saws can cut miters or bevels, since they tilt in either direction and they also have the slide feature so that large pieces of wood can be cut. Even though they have all of these features, they are portable and can go from job to job just like the others.

The most versatile saw of all if the radial arm saw. Most people consider them the most desired piece of equipment in a workshop. This saw allows you to do many different kinds of cuts such as dado work, ripping stock and crosscutting. But they alto tilt for cutting a miter edge or a beveled edge and they can be used for routing and drilling.

In deciding the blade size for a saw, you have to go by the maximum size of the wood you are working with. Make sure the saw has sufficient cross cutting ability for the size of the piece of wood. The best radial arm saw is the De Walt. It is easy to use, while still being reliable and durable. A De Walt radial saw will meet most woodworkers needs since it is adjustable to be able to work on many kinds of projects or sizes of wood.

A panel saw is used to cut large sheets of lumber, and so is usually found in lumber yards. Plywood, paneling or particleboard is usually cut by a panel saw into either 4X8 foot sheets or 4X12 foot sheets. A stationary model would be used in a lumber yard. Panel saws are also used by contractors for new homes or large home improvement projects, but they prefer a portable model that can be moved to different sites. <bio>Linden Walhard published at large for http://www.insidewoodworking.com , a web publication with information about saw blades and panel saw.
A key part of any equipment designed for cutting miters in trims or a baseboard is the miter saw. Miter saws can cut something straight or on a horizontal angle. You can also get some that will do a more ornate edge. You can also buy other added bonus features if your budget allows it. You might want to get a sliding saw or a panel saw depending on your needs. You can also get a great miter saw stand to help you have a place to keep it.

The compound miter saw will cut in a straight or horizontal fashion. The motor tilts so it can cut a beveled edge. Most miter saws don't have this tilting function and can't do the beveled edge. These are very long lasting saws and they are also very light and easy to carry with you. This makes them great for going from job to job.

A double bevel saw is a compound saw that can cut both straight and horizontally, but has the added bonus feature of being able to tilt both ways. Beveled edges have never been easier than with this kind of saw. It is extremely useful and can be used for more work than just a normal miter saw.

A sliding compound saw functions in a way that is like a regular compound saw, but there is one thing that is different. You can pull them along as the wood is cut. You are able to cut bigger pieces this way.

The dual compound sliding saw used the most recent technology and can cut miters and bevels. These are able to tilt both ways and they can also slide forward. This makes them awesome for cutting a wide piece of wood. You can carry them around easy and can be great if you need to use them outside of your workshop or at different jobs.

Another versatile saw is the radial arm saw. This is a great bench saw for your home workshop. You can do all kinds of things with it like crosscutting and doing stock work. You can also make them tilt which helps for cutting miters and bevels. You can also rout with them and this makes them great for drilling stock.

The blade you use is based on how thick the wood is that you will cut. If you choose a saw that has a good cross cutting ability then that is best. The Dewalt radial arm saw is a great one to try for yourself. It is high-quality and long lasting. It can be used for many different types of work as well as wood size.

A panel saw is usually in a lumberyard and are made for cutting a large slab of wood. These can cut large sheets like plywood or paneling. Some can cut a 4 x 8 piece sheet of wood and others can cut a 4 x 12 sheet of wood with no problem.

Contractors may also use these when constructing a new home or improving upon an existing one. Some are stationary and others are portable so you can find one that meets any of your needs. Since they are so easy to take around you can use the for a wide variety of projects. <bio>Concentrating on the topic of saw blades, Eric Slarkowski writes articles most often for http://www.insidewoodworking.com .
Mitre saws, or chop saws, as they're more often called, are tools that have found a place in both the workshop and on the construction site. The DW718 is the largest of the DeWalt's mitre saws. Compound mitre saws add the further capability of tilting the blade from vertical to make bevel cuts. When using a mitre saw, clamp the timber in tightly, even a little movement can lead to a bad joint. The biggest hitch is choosing the right mitre saw for the kind of work you'll be doing. Today, compound mitre saws are often used for structural framing or smaller projects like creating picture frames. Further saws, like Table saws, Mitre saws, Double mitre saws, Notching saws, Vee-notch and cut off saws, Automatic saws and Automatic saws with pusher cover our product range. The new dw712 corded compound slide mitre saw is the most accurate saw the company has ever manufactured. The DW712 is also the first 216mm portable mitre saw to be able to cut a 60- mitre improving cutting angle performance on stairs and roof jointsThe new saw has a horizontal dual rail slide extending its capacity to 300x 70mm. Personally, I'd prefer to use a good hand mitre saw for most projects.

Compound Mitre Saws

You can make a variety of cuts such as bevel, mitre, compound mitre and longer length cuts with the sliding cutting arm. The term "compound" means that angles can be cut in two planes at once: the horizontal plane, often called the mitre angle; and the vertical plane, referred to as the bevel angle. The first important distinction over the common sliding compound mitre saws is the change from a gear transfer mechanism to a twin belt drive. In this report we explain the difference between different kinds of mitre saw, tell you what to consider when buying a slide compound mitre saw (the most flexible type), and give test results for six models.

Saws

Backsaws are normally used for precise work, such as cutting dovetails, mitres, or tenons in cabinetry and joinery. In recent years this has expanded to Slide Compound Mitre Saws which have increased cross cutting capacities.

Blades used with saws

Blade geometry is critical to the performance of chopsaws. Most miter saws are relatively small and portable, with common blade sizes ranging from eight to 12 inches. The cutting capacity of a mitre saw is determined by boththe blade diameter and sliding action if featured. The most basic mitre saws allow the blade to swing only side to side to cut mitred angles. Non-sliding models with a 12-inch blade are heavier in weight and can crosscut a two-by-eight. The blade can be tilted for mitred cutting either left or right up to 45 degrees with positive stops at 0, 15, 22 =BD, 30 and 45 degrees, and also be tilted for bevel cutting in both directions. The distance that the blade protrudes through the table surface may be controlled. In a small number of cases the plastic blade guard on the saw has shattered in use, and the broken parts may cause minor injuries to the user. <bio>Paul Disley is a woodworking expert at http://powertooldirect.co.uk/dewalt_dw712_216_mm_heavy_duty_slide_compound_= mitre_saw-p-29846.html </bio>

Window cornices are an uncomplicated, low-cost way to dramatically improve any room. They'll hide unattractive drapery rods and add a feel of custom detailing that makes a commonplace window or French door look like something extraordinary. The top of the cornice can even double as a shelf for art or plates. Cornices are unexpectedly simple to build, even the stylish ones you see in home magazines. Using readily available trim from a home center or lumber yard and a compound miter saw, most anyone with basic woodworking skills can make a beautiful window or door cornice in just a short time.

If this sounds interesting, read on and we'll show you how to select the materials.

You can make it and save some money. Search the Internet for cornices and you will see that you can save some money by making your own custom cornices. One website sells custom window cornices for $7.50 per inch. That is $540 for a cornice for a 6-ft. patio door, plus shipping. Make your own and you can expect to spend about 25 percent of that. The materials for the style you chose to build will have a big impact on the cost simple pine painted cornices will be cheaper than say Oak with crown molding.

Selecting the proper wood for your cornice?

If you plan to paint your cornices, poplar and pine are the best choices for the box materials. They're stable and inexpensive, and the grain won't show through paint. Pine and basswood moldings are usually the least expensive choices for paint able trim.

If you want to stain or have a natural wood cornice, look for oak, cherry, maple and at home centers or millworks. The biggest problem is finding moldings other than oak. You can special-order custom moldings from a millworks supplier that makes their own moldings.

You will need a miter saw or even a compound miter saw depending on the style you decide on a miter saw is the best tool for cutting the miters on you need for your cornices. A standard miter saw will only cut on angle at a time where as a compound miter saw will allow you to cut to angles at the same time. Other options in miter saws are a sliding miter saw this allows the saw to slide allowing you to cut a wider board. No matter which type of miter saw you use good quality carbide tipped saw blade will leave a nice clean cut.

Use a god quality wood glue when assembling your cornice be sure to pre drill any nail holes especially in hardwoods like Oak a good alternative would be to use an air nailer to assemble your new cornice be sure to fill any nail holes prior to painting or staining. <bio>Megan Cherry wrote this article for http://www.pegandrail.com </bio>

A variety of woodworking machinery and tools is needed for both home and professional workshops. Several companies make quality woodworking machinery, including Craftsman, Rockwell, Rigid and Milwaukee.

Craftsman tools and machinery are sold in Sears stores through the country as well as on Sears' website. Craftsman has maintained a good reputation among experienced professionals and those new to woodworking. The company stands behind their tools, which come with a lifetime warranty. If a tool is defective, simply return it to a Sears store for replacement. Table saws and miter saws are two of the quality tools made by Craftsman. The table saws come in ten and twelve inch models and most have three horsepower motors. The company's portable models are convenient for carrying to a job site and can be stored in a shed or closet when not in use. Craftsman also makes great sliding compound miter saws in both ten and twelve inch sizes. These miter saws have LaserTrac, a great feature which creates a laser line for increased accuracy when cutting. The blade's dual bevel style allows the saws to tilt to either side for easier operation and beveled edges.

Rockwell is another popular company. Rockwell tools are not only superior quality but also come with a good warranty. Rockwell makes a wide variety of tools that, with regular maintenance and good cleaning, can last for many years. Rockwell saws are available in nine through twelve inch models. They are made from a strong cast iron and are very durable. Older, vintage Rockwell saws are often found to still be in good condition.

Rigid offers a complete line of power tools to make any home workshop complete. Its contractor style table saws are made with cast iron and included such features as extension rails and micro-adjusted fence dials. Other tools in Rigid's line of power tools include miter saws, lathes and drill press equipment all of which are also quality tools. In addition, Rigid is always trying to upgrade its tools to a greater quality and convenience. New features are being added to many of its woodworking tools as the new technology is developed. For example, one feature is an exact line laser on its miter saws to further improve accuracy in cutting.

Finally, Milwaukee tools are another great selection of tools for any workshop. Milwaukee routers come with either two or three horsepower motors and the motor contamination shield protects it from damage caused by debris. Other features available include variable speeds, twin handles, a 36 position dial and depth adjustment. <bio>Greg Hansward is writing for the most part for http://www.insidewoodworking.com , an internet site covering information on power tools and hand tools.
When you are purchasing a saw, the most important question will be what it is you want to cut with it. There are almost as many different types of saws as there are materials to cut through. Here's a basic guide to the different types of saws that are most common and what you are most likely to use them for.

First, saws break down into two main types, handsaws and mechanical saws. In those two types, there are several different kinds of each, specialized to the material and pattern they are used to cut.

Handsaws have about a dozen different types. Two common types are the rip saw and the cross cut saw. They are both used for cutting wood, but the rip saw is designed to cut along the grain, while the cross cut saw is designed to cut across it. A panel or box saw is a smaller version of the cross cut saw. These saws have handles at the heel, or back of the saw. A bow saw can be used to cut wood in either direction and has a bowed handle that attaches at both ends of the blade. Coping saws have very fine blades and are used for detailed woodworking. Back and pull saws are used for molding and similar wood cutting projects, while dovetail saws are used for cutting joints. To cut circles or curves in wood, you will use either a keyhole or compass saw, both of which have very narrow blades. There are drywall saws for cutting drywall and similar materials and hacksaws for cutting through metal.

Mechanical saws break down into three basic types defined by how they move the blade into the material. There are circular blade saws, reciprocating blade saws, and continuous band saws. If someone refers to just a circular saw, they are probably talking about a hand held circular saw used to cut logs or beams. These are one of the most common power tools you will find. Table saws have circular blades that come up through a slot in a table. This is a stationary tool. Radial arm saws are used for cross cutting. There are also mechanical mitre saws. In reciprocating blade saws, there are jigsaws, which usually are handheld, and are often used in woodworking to cut out shapes. Reciprocating saws can be fitted with blades for wood or metal. They are more powerful than jigsaws. Scroll saws are used for fine detail woodworking. The most familiar continuous band saw is the chain saw, usually used to cut limbs and trees. There are also band saws. <bio>Dana Bradley writes about http://www.hardwaretoolsonsale.com and http://www.latestcouponcodes.com/. </bio>

Cutting a Mitre

A mitre joint is used to join two lengths of wood together at a right angle. Each piece is cut at 45 degrees so that when they are put together they form a 90-degree angle. You can cut mitres by hand, after marking carefully, but it is much easier to use a mitre box. This has two pairs of 45-degree slots cut into it to guide the saw as it cuts the piece of wood. You are best using a tenon saw with a mitre box, as it is rigid. This makes it easier to keep parallel with the work surface.

Secure the mitre box with a vice or a couple of clamps. Once secure this will give you a free hand to hold the piece of wood being cut. Before using the mitre box, screw a shallow piece of waste wood to the inside so that the base will not be damaged by saw cuts, Measure and mark the wood to the correct length and line up the mark with the appropriate slots for the right or left mitre.

Take great care that you get the mitre sloping the right way and that you mark the wood on the right side. If you mark the outside of the frame, make sure that the mitres slope inwards. Get this wrong and you may end up with a piece of wood that is too short, and hence useless.

Hold the piece of wood tight against the far side of the box and, keeping the saw parallel with the base, make the cut through the saw guides.

Remember to always use a sharp pencil or, even better a marking knife to mark the wood when cutting mitre joints. The thickness of the pencil line can make all the difference between a perfect mitre and one that is lopsided.

The problem with a mitre box is that it only enables you to cut a 45-degree angle. While this is great for putting a picture frame together or edging a doorway, for generally wood work you will need to cut many different grades.

Compound Mitre Saws

In the past few years compound mitre saws have become cheaper and cheaper, with even top brands like Makita offering a saw for less that a hundred quid. Using a powered mitre saw makes the job of cutting angles I would say about four hundred times easier.

More expensive compound mitre saws include a guide laser. This projects a red line onto the piece of timber, showing you exactly where the blade is going to cut.

A compound mitre saw also makes an excellent alternative to a radial arm saw, providing the panels you want to cut are not too wide for the saw to cut.

Summary

If you are a DIY enthusiast, you are best just buying a mitre box. A compound mitre saw is not worth the money, as cheap as one can be, for making two cuts a year. Unless you have, money to burn that is. However if you are into woodworking tools I would recommend buying a compound mitre saw today. It is amazing how easy they make life. <bio>Johan Nickson is a power tool consultant writing for http://www.powertooldirect.co.uk </bio>

The best tool for wood-cutting or any other material is a saw which consists of a blade that is serrated and worked by hand or in a mechanized manner. The make of a saw is such that the tooth of a saw is bent at angles with each angle being known as set. The cut which the saw is intended to make influences the set of tooth. For example, rip saw whose teeth is used to rip the material apart, has a set of tooth that is not different to the ones used in a chisel.

What are different terms related with a saw?

=95 Heel =96 This part of the saw is the end nearest to the handle of the saw.

=95 Toe =96 This part of the saw is the end farthest to the handle of the saw.

=95 Front =96 The teeth of the saw comprises of the front side.

Other components like Rake, Gullet and Kerf are known to make up the design of a saw.

What are the types of Saws used for industrial purposes?

For starters, saws are differentiated between hand-powered saws and mechanized saws. The objective of any saw is the same =96 to cut a large piece to smaller units.

=95 Hand saws =96 The technique of holding the blade stiff to get an even, quality cut differentiates hand-powered saws into three types =96 Hand saw, jigsaw and saber saw. Handsaws are saws operated by the hands as opposed to the mechanized technique used by the mechanized saws.

=95 Back saws =96 This type of saw allows the stiffening of the inner blade by reinforcing it with steel or a brass back. The length of the blade is the biggest differentiating factor for back saws. The list of back saws has but not limited to Mitre Saw, Carcase Saw, Tenon Saw, Dovetail Saw. Most of these saws have a handle which is vertical relative to the blade of the saw.

=95 Mechanically Powered Saws =96 These are saws used for many industrial purposes. The tooth of the saws is moved past the wood while the saw does not move itself. The technique of wood cutting is done by any of the following three methods =96 1) The perimeter of a flat, circular blade has the tooth on it, 2) The Blades are so designed that they move up and down and 3) A continuous band is provided on the saws which has the tooth of the saw.

Reciprocating, Scroll, Dragsaw and Radial Arm Saw are some of the other types of saws available in the market.

What are the materials used for Saws?

Saws are made of Brass, Steel or Diamond, each having its own specifications. Brass is generally used in back saws as they are not expensive and the ease of casting the material. Saws made using brass as a material do not have a pulling motion which allows them to be used as a saw without any backward pressure. Steel, like Brass is commonly used to manufacture saws as they are cheap and durable. Diamond is used to manufacture very expensive saws which can be used for concrete cutting purposes. <bio>Paul Disley likes to use saws over at http://www.powertooldirect.co.uk/dewalt-dw707-crosscut-mitre-216mm-p-29841.= html </bio>

When you start a project around the house there are many tools that you will end up needing. Besides the basics you will also need power tools. One of the most overlooked power tools that you will need is the power saw. If you need to cut a piece of wood for a bookshelf there is nothing better than a power saw.

There are several power tools available. The basic types fall under three different categories, circular saws, sabre saws, and reciprocal saws. Each type of saw has its own purpose and design.

The most basic out of all the power saws is the circular saw. They usually fit tempered blades between the sizes of 5 " up to 10". There are also other specialty sizes made depending on what job needs to be done. The average operating speed for a circular saw is around 5,000 rpm which is fast enough to do most any job.

Sabre saws are more of a specialized saw. They have thin blades that use an up and down motion while cutting. These saws prove a lot harder than the average circular saw to keep in a straight line and only cut around 3,000 rpm. You can also buy specialty blades for these saws that allow you to cut through metals, plastics, and other materials besides wood. A platform is even available for angled cuts.

A reciprocal saw works like the old hand saws did by using a back and forth motion to cut. However, the reciprocal saw has been motorized to make it easier to use. There are different blades of different sizes for this saw but they are mostly all long pieces of metal with a serrated edge on one side.

The most typical type of power saw uses a 110 volt power supply that you plug directly into your wall outlet. Looking around you can also find cordless versions of power saws but they are generally weaker and don't have the power that most people prefer.

Varity is not a problem when it comes to power saws. There are many different brands that carry power saws for all needs. Some of the most popular brands of power saws include DeWalt, Craftsman, and Bosch. Pricing on a saw can run anywhere from $120 to a few thousand depending on the application it will be used for.

With so many saws it may be hard to decide which one best suits your needs. After you decide what you are planning to do with your project ask a professional handyman what he would recommend you buy. For simple tasks however a good circular saw just can't be beat. Remember to always wear protective gear around the saw and practice with it. Nobody is perfect when they start out using a power saw. <bio>Dana Bradley writes about http://www.powertoolsmall.com, http://www.powertoolsmall.com/Coupons/Tool%20King.html and http://www.powertoolsmall.com/Coupons/Northerntool.html </bio>

While relatively simple in the design, these saws are strongly advanced and able of effective work and precision. The European saws of box of model are often more complex and modern in the design compared with the American types. They often are equipped with a table of slip to make the cuts transversely easier and surer than by the use of a measurement of mitres of American model. Unless modified for the American market, with the European saws of table are not equipped to allow the use of a piled up unit of blade of dado (it is due to the laws of safety on the European markets).

The barriers of tear on the European saws tend to being of a lighter construction and of in less smooth function compared with the American saws of box. The European saws of box are often available in the universal configurations of tool which can offer the jointer, to plane it, the tedious fashioner or devices. The axis of blade has a diameter of 30mm typically, however for the American market one 5/8" axis is generally available like option. To note that the American workers of wood are likely to use a piled up blade of dado to cut dados (grooves crosses from there by place) where the European workers of wood could employ a fashioner or the other tool for this charge.

The European saws of box often incorporate a knife tearing it to prevent the by-effect.
How do you choose and use a chain saw? There are a vast range of saws available in a range of sizes and powers, from small, electric chain saws that are only designed for light pruning work, up to massive petrol powered machines that can be used all day to fell trees.

All chain saws are powerful and can cause fatal injury unless used according to the manufacturers safety instructions. Even men, who never read the instruction books provided for women, should consult the safety guide provided by the manufacturer. It is not possible to fumble your way through a chainsaw safely without consulting this safety guide.

The chain has a series of teeth that have sharp edges that bite into the wood to be cut. Sometimes the teeth alternate, one cutting to the right and the next tooth cutting to the left. The chain is supported by a bar and move around a track around this bar.

Chain saw maintenance is vital. There are two sets of components that require constant lubrication. The two-stroke engine gets its lubrication from the petrol/oil fuel mixture. The chain is lubricated by a separate oil source.

The chain lubricant may be depleted quickly because oil tends to fly off the chain. Care needs to be taken to only use oil of the viscosity recommended by the manufacturer.

Kickback can cause fatal injury. Kickback is the sudden jerking of the chain saw when it strikes a harder object, like a nail, embedded in the timber. Kickback can also happen if the chain jams in the cut, fairly common in very soft timber. You can buy quick stop chains and chainsaws that reduce the risk of kickback.

It is important to use appropriate protective equipment, including ear defenders, goggles and cut resistant trousers to reduce the risk of injury. <bio>Loreno Lepe has a background in the chemical and construction industries.
The saws of table of Cabinet are heavy (by using great quantities of cast iron and steel) to the minimum to reduce the exactitude of vibration and increase. A saw of box is characterized by having a closed bottom (of box). The saws of Cabinet have usually engines with induction in the 3 to the 5 kilowatt that HP (2 to 4) extends. For the use at the house, this type of engine requires typically that a resistant circuit be installed (in the USA, this requires an exit 220V). The engine is included in the box and leads the blade with three v-belts parallel.

The saws of Cabinet are heavier and offer the following advantages compared to the saws of contractor: a heavier construction for the lower vibration and increased longevity; an box-assembled pivot (the mechanism which incorporates the frame of web and takes account of the adjustment of size and slope); de-dusting improved due to the box completely included and common incorporation of a port of de-dusting. It is easier to adjust the generally box-assembled pivots than the table-assembled pivots. The American saws of box of model differ in the design from the European saws from box from model. The American saws of model generally follow the model of the Unisaw delta, a design which evolved/moved since 1939. Saws of this general type are manufactured in the United States, Canada and in China.

These saws are characterized by a cast iron top on an integral basis out of steel, place in the section, with the corners with rays. Two 3/8" deeply by 3/4" broad slits of mitres are parallel localized with the blade, one with the left of the blade and worms the line. The type common of barrier of tear gone up to this type of saw is characterized by the standard model made by Biesemeyer. This very vigorous T-type and out of steel barrier goes up to a steel rail in front of the saw. It has the replaceable laminate faces. American saws of box are normally designed to accept one 13/16" blade of broad piled up dado in addition to one standard web. The most common size of the capacity of blade is 10"of diameter.

The axis of blade has a diameter of 5/8". The American saws normally include a device of anti-by-effect which incorporates a divider, toothed pawls of anti-by-effect and a clear cover in figure of blade. The American saws of model have an easily replaceable insertion around the blade in the top of table. This allows the use of insertions of zero-release, which reduce considerably the tear out on the bottom of the object. It is common for this type of saw to equip with a prolongation of table which increases to tear the capacity for goods of sheet. <bio>The author, Jeremy Stone, is a recognized American home improvement expert.
While cutting metals, one requires special saws of band which include the pumps of coolant which provide a constant flow of liquid coolant above the blade. The coolant maintains blades fresh, adding the life of blade. They also include a brush wheel actuated wire to remove pieces and the preparing of the blade as him leaves the material. The saws of band of cutting out of metal are available in vertical and horizontal designs. These units extend from handbook to semi-automatic and even to the automatic checks. The band saws of workshop of mechanical engineering are the horizontal and cutting saws vertically.

Small, manual saws of store usually use gravity-supplied the blade which fall into an arc around a point from pivot.
Recently we got to have a good look at the new DeWalt DW712 Compound Mitre Saw. According to DeWalt, the new DW712 corded compound slide mitre saw is the most accurate saw the company has ever produced. The DW712 has a 1600W motor delivering an output of 930W and providing superior power in high torque applications. Its electronic speed regulator controls power delivery with high torque for low speed applications.

This DeWalt is very easy to transport around and set up, it's lightweight but seems very durable. It easily fits in the back of a van once it has been folded, meaning you can easily take it from job to job.

The DW712 is also the first 216mm portable mitre saw to be able to cut a 60 mitre improving cutting angle performance on stairs and roof joints. The DW712 cuts mitre angles up to 50=B0s left and 60=B0s right. Every DW712 is tested comprehensively before it leaves DeWalt's Perugia factory, with the test results recorded against its serial number.

The aluminum base construction provides stability to the saw while retaining its portability 60 right mitre angle provides enough capacity for the most difficult applications. Mitre and bevel angle detentes allow for quick and easy set up of the saw. The Mitre saw station also features quick release spring-loaded retractable legs, to create a secure working platform on the work site.

There are lighter saws on the market but they are not sliding. The machine is very quiet compared to the average mitre saws I have used in the past.

Some of the features of the DW712 includes. New mitre angle adjustment system provides accurate and consistent setting of mitre angles between 0 and 60=B0 right and 0 and 50=B0 left. The innovative grooving stop allows adjustment of the cutting depth for grooving and rebating applications. The large dual sliding fence mechanism gives maximum support in large material cuts at any angle or combination of angles.

Horizontal rails create additional capacity for larger materials. The aluminium base construction provides stability to the saw while retaining its portability. 60=B0 right mitre angle provides enough capacity for the most difficult applications. Mitre and bevel angle detents allow for quick and easy set up of the saw. Spindle lock for easy blade replacement.

In summary if your in the market for a mitre saw I don't think you couple go far wrong with the DeWalt DW712. While there is some very stiff competition around, i think DeWalt's prestige shines through on this power tool. If you are shopping around however, it defiantly worth taking a look at Bosch GCM10. The Bosch mitre saw is a little more expensive but is more powerful. In truth I think it really is a though call between these two excellent saws. There isn't really much between them, The Dewalt is flexable and cheaper, the bosch is more powerful, yet more expensive. I think if you can afford the extra money for the GCM10, go for the Bosch, you will not regret it. <bio>Johan Nickson is a Expert in Dewalt Tools http://www.powertooldirect.co.uk/dewalt_dw712_216_mm_heavy_duty_slide_compo= und_mitre_saw-p-29846.html </bio>

If you know why and how windows become stuck then you can learn how to fix them too. Read on to learn more about getting that creaky window in your house.

Your windows can become stuck for many different reasons. Sometimes the wood can expand or contract, a moving part may get painted over, or sometimes they are fused together. Here are some of the most common problems solved for stuck windows:

If the joint is painted over then you can cut the paint with a window zipper. This tool is designed to do exactly that. You can also use a putty knife to accomplish this task. Try holding the blade against the sash and then push the edge into the joint while you also draw the tool over the surface at the same time.

If paint has built up than that can cause a lot of friction to occur. Use a paint scraper to get rid of the old paint from the window stop, blind stop, and parting strip. If you lower and raise the sash while doing this it helps. If the sash is low then you might want to take the window stop out and sand and scrap the edges of the window. If you can't do any of these things you might have to do something more complicated. This means you need to take out the sashes and strip all the paint off the wood. Afterward you can repaint the sashes and then install them again when the paint is dried.

If there is too much friction you can lubricate the sash channels. Use candle wax or baby powder for this job. This will also help the surfaces that are painted from sticking together. If you need to reduce tension caused by spring metal weather stripping in the sash channels than just use a hammer and a wooden block to flatten them out.

If it is stuck you can try to whack it on the center rail. Do this near the place where the window locks. This can break a bond between the painted pieces and allow you to open the window up. Use your hand to do this task, but if doesn't work then try a mallet. A rubber one is best.

You can also try to tap a block of wood against each side of the sash as well.

If you are worried about preventing heat loss, then you can install friction channels. If you want to do this then take out the sashes, weights, and pulleys. Use fiberglass insulation into the openings of the weigh cavities. Work your way down from the top with a rod or stick.

Create new channels using a hammer and chisel. Follow these tips and never find a window you can't open again! <bio>Focusing on news and information about best miter saws, Kurt Schefken works largely for http://www.insidewoodworking.com .
Every woodworking shop worth its salt will have a table saw. There are different types available, and it is a big investment in your workshop, so be sure you take your time and research before you buy to make sure you get the right one for you. You can read independent reviews of the best kinds of saws, or you can get the opinions of friends or family who may have them. If it is a friend or a family member, you can probably try it out before you buy it. This kind of research will pay off since you will have a table saw that will give you years of use and pleasure.

The types of saws are usually divided into saws used by contractors, which are heavy duty and those which are for less use, such as for a homeowner or a hobbyist. A contractor's saw will have a motor of 1 1/2 to 2 HP and have a large table and a good fence for the most accurate cutting. This type can cut just about every kind of wood with accuracy. A disadvantage is that they are dusty.

A bench top saw is light weight and are the choice is you do not have a lot of space. A bench saw can be moved to a storage area and then set up when you need it. One person can lift it. Be sure to get a saw with a good fence. The lightweight saws sometimes do not come with as good a fence as the heavy ones, and you cannot upgrade, so choose carefully in the beginning.

A cabinet saw is a heavy piece of equipment, usually used by professional cabinet makers; they have a larger table but with a smaller footprint. Normally they will have a motor with at least 3 HP. They require 220 voltage, so if you do not have that, you will have to have an electrician run it for you. The cuts made by these types of saws are the most accurate; naturally these saws are also the most expensive. They usually have good dust collection systems, since you are working with fine quality cabinetry. Decide whether a portable or stationary saw is for you. A portable saw will take up less room and can be easily moved. Most of the portable saws sold today can do just about the same jobs as a stationary saw.

A stationary saw is intended to be permanently set up in one place. They are large and heavy and so they cannot be easily moved. These kinds of saws are more powerful and usually have a lot more accessories than a portable saw. Of course, they take up a lot more room than a portable saw. They are more expensive and are usually used by professionals.

Make sure you always wear proper protection when you work with a table saw. Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from flying parts and dust; wear ear protection to protect your ears from the noise of the saw. Make sure you wear do not wear clothing that is too loose or has long sleeves that can get caught in a blade. Keep the work area around the saw clear of debris such as wood scraps and sawdust. Also keep the floor area clear; you can slip on sawdust and fall into the blade area of the saw. Wear strong sturdy shoes with non slip soles, such as work boots or heavy sneakers. Be careful that the blade has completely stopped before you reach over it or adjust it. One of the biggest warnings is to unplug the saw before you change a blade or perform any kind of maintenance. Saws have started up accidentally, and this can cause very serious injury. <bio>Leroy Calstard is publishing especially for http://www.insidewoodworking.com , a web publication covering information on woodworking machinery and power tools.
