Gum disease, or periodontal disease is not an enjoyable experience! If you want to avoid gum disease, or if you already have it and want to fight it, read this article.

Symptoms of Gum Disease

How do you know if you have gum disease? Here are some of the symptoms you should look for. Often you will notice inflammation of the gums and mouth -- soreness, bleeding, and/or redness. Another common symptom is bed breath (a.k.a. Halitosis), and / or a bad taste in your mouth. Other signs of gum disease include shaky or loose teeth, receding gums, and spaces between the teeth and gums.

Cause Of Gum Disease

What causes gum disease? Quite simply, gum disease is caused by bacteria growing in your mouth. These bacteria normally begin growing on particles of food left in your mouth. The infection then continues to grow, causing inflammation and breakdown of the gums and mouth.

Prevention Of Gum Disease

Gum disease can be prevented by discouraging the growth of bacteria in the mouth. Proper dental hygiene goes a long way in preventing bacteria growth in the mouth. Also helpful is a healthy diet low in refined sugars and other foods that make perfect bacteria fodder.

Treatment of Gum Disease

If you already have Gum Disease, there are several ways to treat it. The first and seemingly most common is a professional cleaning. A periodontist will clean your mouth to remove the plaque, etc that harbors the bacteria causing the disease. Drugs may also be used to treat gum disease. Recently, several natural treatments have been developed for gum disease as well.

Hopefully, the information in this article will have given you the information that you need to prevent and / or treat gum disease, also known as periodontal disease. Trust me when I say that you don't want to get gum disease -- it's worth preventing, and prevention is simple when you follow the steps outlined in this article! <bio>Learn more about gum disease treatment at <a href="http://www.gumdisease-treatment.com">http://www.gumdisease-treatment.com </bio>

Hair loss is a common condition that affects many men as well as women. Often it is merely attributed to genetics and or a hormonal change in one's body. However, hair loss can also be a result from other factors that should be taken into consideration before you simply chalk it up to genetics. It is possible to suffer hair loss as a result of a side effect from another disease or a result from surgery. Hair loss can also have dietary factors. It is important to be knowledgable about the effects that disease or surgery may have on your hair. You will then be able to take the proper steps in regaining your hair.

Skin disease is the first major cause of hair loss. There are a variety of skin diseases that will result in the loss of nutrients, minerals, and supplements cause the hair to fall out rapidly. These skin diseases usually cause hair loss in one of two ways. They either cause hair loss as a reaction to the mechanisms of the immune system or because the disease causes a lack of available nutrients for the hair. Additionally, diseases such as lupus, cancer, diabetes can also lead to hair loss. In the course of all three of these diseases, hair loss is a very likely side-effect. Because the disease creates a resulting nutrient imbalance, a side effect is hair loss. This side effect is particularly common when the problem is more severe.

When you suffer hair loss as a result of disease or surgery, it is typically either a side effect of the disease, or from excess surgery or disease-related stress. This is especially common in reaction to major surgery. In other instances, the hair loss may result from the surgical procedure. Disease treatments such as chemotherapy also commonly cause temporary hair loss.

No matter what the disease, disease-related hair loss is normally temporary. Generally when the disease is cured and your body regains its proper nutrient and hormone balance, the hair begins to grow back at a normal rate. It does take time, however, for the proteins and nutrients to begin to affect your hair growth. It is very common to take between four to six months before you regain a moderate amount of your hair. Making sure that you are maintaining your proper nutrient balance that and taking care of your scalp will help to ensure suffient hair growth. <bio>Barbara Smith writes for several popular online magazines, including http://mifot.com and http://bazol.com </bio>

The evergreen tree is a beauty upon the year round landscape. The evergreen tree is a symbol of strength as the evergreen retains its color and needles even through the harsh winter months. People have fallen in love with the durability but yet simplistic grace of the evergreen tree. Unfortunately, there are several common diseases that affect the evergreen tree.

Evergreen trees can be killed or harmed by pathogens which are a disease-causing organism. The most common disease that affects the evergreen tree is caused by a type of fungi. Fungi lack the chlorophyll and therefore take nourishment from species in the evergreen family by feeding on these types of trees. Other tree diseases are caused from viruses and bacteria. An evergreen tree can become affected by a pathogen, viruses or bacteria in a number of different ways.

One disease that affects the evergreen tree is called needle cast tree disease. This is a disease that causes the evergreen tree to shed its needles. The symptoms of this type of disease will first appear on the needle. Needle cast tree disease appears as yellow spots on the needles which eventually turn red to brown. The growth of a certain species of fungi will form the spots on the evergreen's needles. When this disease is left untreated the needles fall off. Before the needles are shed tiny black fruiting bodies will form on the needle's surface.

Another type of disease that can affect the health of an evergreen tree is needle blight tree disease. There is a group of needle blight tree diseases that include Dothistroma, Diplodia and brown spot. These diseases are known to attack evergreen trees at the twig tips or the needles. The infected needle will fall from the tree due to the disease. When the needle falls from the tree this creates a denude look. If the evergreen tree is plagued by repeated cycles of infection then this can result in the loss of the tree. There are ways to prevent and to control needle blight tree disease.

A third common disease that affects the evergreen tree is canker tree disease. This is a type of disease where a canker either kills or causes blistering in the tree bark or the trunk of the diseased evergreen tree. There are dozens of known types of fungi that can cause this disease.

The last disease that can affect the evergreen tree is known as root disease. This is a wood decay disease. The fungi get in through the lower part of the tree or directly penetrate the root system of the tree. This fungus is able to travel from one tree to another on soilborne and airborne spores. If this disease is left untreated the evergreen tree will sadly rot from the roots upward.

Each of these diseases which affect an evergreen tree can be prevented or controlled. An evergreen tree is a beautiful natural resource that should be well cared for to ensure a long lifespan of the evergreen tree. <bio>http://www.mishobonsai.com </bio>

Crohn's disease is a systemic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) of unknown cause, that results in chronic inflammation of the intestinal tract.

It can affect the entire gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus, and can also cause complications outside of the gastrointestinal tract.

The incidence of Crohn's disease in North America is 6:100 000, and is thought to be similar in Europe, but lower in Asia and Africa Unlike the other major inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, there is no known medical or surgical cure for Crohn's disease.

Many medical treatments are however available for Crohn's disease with a goal of keeping the disease in remission.

Many patients with Crohn's disease have symptoms for years prior to the diagnosis. Because of the patchy nature of the gastrointestinal disease and the depth of tissue involvement, initial symptoms can be more vague than with ulcerative colitis.

Common initial symptoms of Crohn's disease include the following; Abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, and peri anal discomfort.

Typically, Crohn's disease only affects areas of the large intestine. Because Crohn's disease is most commonly associated with the large intestine, the most common symptoms are diahrea or constipation, and abdominal pain and cramping.

Like all autoimmune disorders, Crohn's disease is a pretty serious condition, and there isn't really any cure for it. There are some new treatments available, but nothing that will cure it outright.

Some people seem to get occassionaly flare ups from their Chorn's disease, but more or less live normal lives. Others suffer from chronic flare ups their entire lives, which can sometimes lead to more serious complications.

The medications you take if you are having a flare up are basically immunosuppressant sorts of drugs and of course steroids, neither of which aren't really all that pleasant to take. They both have a lot of side effects, and the immunosupressants boost your chances of getting some kind of opportunistic infection. <bio>Crohn's disease is a progressive disease of the gastro-intestinal tract that is considered an autoimmune disorder. http://1crohnsdisease.info </bio>

Like any other animal, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/ferrets" rel="tag">ferrets have certain diseases that they may contract. As a ferret owner, you need to make sure what the most common ones are, how to recognize them in your pet, and what to do for him. Some of the most common ferret diseases are adrenal gland disease, lymphoma, Aleutian disease, and insulinoma.

Adrenal gland disease is a very common problem in ferrets, with the first and often only, symptom being that of hair loss. Over ninety per cent of female ferrets that suffer from the disease develop an enlarged vulva, which may also cause a discharge. Signs of the disease are usually found when the ferret is about three years old. The disease is diagnosed with a special blood test and is usually treated with surgery to remove the affected adrenal gland.

Pancreatic beta cell tumors, or insolinoma disease, are also very common in ferrets. One of the signs is low blood sugar that makes the ferret lethargic and listless. In addition, they may develop depression, rear leg weakness, hypersalivation and gagging or pawing at the mouth. Owners sometimes mistake this disease for geriatric problems since the ferrets develop it when they are abut four or five years old. The disease will not go away, but those ferrets treated surgically tend to live longer than those who are treated only with medication.

Lymphosarcoma is a cancer that is very common in ferrets. It is quite deadly and is best treated when it is diagnosed early. The prognosis is very poor, so it's essential that your pet be diagnosed early. This disease can affect both older and younger ferrets, so it's essential to make sure you monitor your pet's health and know when something doesn't appear right with him.

Heart disease is also very common in older ferrets, much as it is in dogs and cats. The vet will take blood tests as well as a series of other tests to determine the severity of your pet's heart condition. Sometimes a reduction in exercise is all that is necessary, but the veterinarian will determine this. Medications such as digoxin may also be prescribed. With proper medication and treatment, your ferret can continue to live a long life even with his heart disease.

As a ferret owner, you have to be able to recognize when things are not right with your pet so that you can get him to the vet for diagnosis and treatment. This is especially true of cancers that may develop quickly and have no cure in later stages. Just like in humans, cancer is best treated when in the very early stages. Stay informed about common ferret diseases and how to recognize when your ferret is not his usual self. <bio>Carl Deveraux is a freelance editor for Ferrets Shop.
What is Alzheimer's exactly? This particular disease can be described as a progressive, degenerative disease of the brain; and also happens to be the most common type of dementia. It is a horrible progressive terminal disease in which the patient's brain cells gradually die and slowly shut down many of the victim's body functions, like speech, thought patterns and memory. Research has shown that the largest risk factor for developing this disease is getting older. Having said that, Alzheimer's is a progressive neurological disorder of the elderly that does not necessarily have to be part of the normal aging process.

Discovering that you or someone close to you has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's can be extremely upsetting, and the day to day caring of a loved one with this disease can be quite challenging. Another problem for families caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's can be the financial cost, this cost being directly related to the severity of the disease.

Alzheimer's is, in my opinion the cruelest of the diseases that strike the elderly, the one bit of good news being, that in most cases, it is not inherited. Although there is not a lot you can do to protect yourself from developing Alzheimer's, one thing you can do is to try and maintain a healthy lifestyle. This disease is the fourth largest cause of death in America, and is the most common type of dementia, with roughly 10% of people over 65 being found to develop it. Studies have shown that the healthier and happier the person with this disease is, the slower the speed of their decline

There is currently no cure and not a great deal of treatment for Alzheimer's disease. One of the medications indicated for the treatment of this disorder is called cholinesterase inhibitors. Of course, examination by a qualified medical person is needed to guarantee the correct diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other similar disorders.

Before any course of treatment for Alzheimer's is undertaken, the patient's wishes and also those of the family should be considered. One question I would like to ask, and has been asked by others is, this disease was discovered about 100 years ago, so why has the treatment for it not advanced at a faster rate. <bio>James Hunaban is the owner of http://alzheimers-disease.health-info4u.com/ a site full of Alzheimers Disease information. </bio>

What is IBS?

IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) is a common gut disorder and it is by far the most common illness diagnosed by gastroenterologists in the UK and USA accounting for approximately 65% of all cases referred from a GP.

IBS is what is known as a functional disorder. A functional disorder means that there is a problem (i.e. something not functioning as it should) with a certain part of the body. For example depression is also considered a functional disorder. My understanding is - when an otherwise healthy part of the body is displaying symptoms, and it is otherwise free of injury or infection, it is classified as a functional disorder. So focusing on IBS this means that the gut, most often the colon (large intestine) if examined would appear normal and healthy (it is normal and healthy) as there is no disease present. The symptoms IBS patients experience are caused purely by the gut not functioning effectively. The gut is out of sync if you like.

IBS is often a long term, but manageable condition. There are various treatments and diets to help alleviate symptoms, although there is no single treatment that will work for everyone.

So we now know that IBS is a functional disorder (known as a syndrome), and not a disease. It is also worth noting that IBS does not damage the gut or cause any other diseases. If you have IBS there is no increased risk of bowel cancer, or IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) such as Crohn's Disease, or Colitis.

There seems to be quite a lot of confusion about what the difference is between a disease and a syndrome.

A disease is a condition which causes us harm or impairs bodily functions. It is identifiable by its symptoms and it is diagnosed as a single specific condition (disease).

A syndrome is a group of symptoms which occur together and are characteristic of a specific disorder. There is no single specific disease, just the collective symptoms which are referred to as the syndrome.

So with IBS for example, once specific diseases of the bowel have been ruled out via tests and medical investigation, you are left with a group of symptoms which are presenting without being caused by a specific disease, so this is then referred to as a syndrome.

With a disease such as Crohn's disease for example you may have similar symptoms as IBS but during testing and medical investigation Crohn's will be diagnosed as the specific disease.

So to summarise:

I - irritable = the functional part of the disorder.

B - bowel = relates to the area of symptoms.

S - syndrome = a basic definition for the word syndrome means a group of symptoms which are characteristic of a specific disorder.

* IBS is the most common gut complaint seen by gastroenterologists in the UK and USA.

* The gut is simply not functioning effectively, but otherwise it is healthy.

* There is no disease present, and IBS does not increase the risk of bowel cancer.<bio>IBS Journal - An Irritable Bowel Syndrome Resource - I created IBS Journal which is an Irritable Bowel Syndrome website containing information and news on IBS, including symptoms, diets, treatments, and general related news and views.</bio>

Common arthritis <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/myths" rel="tag">myths have the potential to do harm to those actually living with this trying disease.

Arthritis is a collection of over 100 different diseases all with varying symptoms and when common arthritis myths and misconceptions abound; it often makes it difficult for those suffering with this disease to get the attention and even understanding, particularly from their family and friends that they really need while dealing with this lifestyle challenging disease.

One of the most common arthritis myths is that arthritis is a disease that only affects the elderly.

Only older people get arthritis? This is an absolutely, positively incorrect. Arthritis affects those of all ages including the very young, the very old and all ages in between.

Arthritis is simply the aches and pains that everyone gets as they get older.

So basically it's something that we all have to learn to live with and something that we all can expect to deal with at some point in our lives. Again, this is a common arthritis myth. Don't buy into it.

Another common arthritis myth is that it really is not that serious of a health issue. Another myth busted!

Arthritis is a major cause of work disability in the workforce today.

When you take the combination of all arthritis and rheumatic diseases those conditions make up the most common chronic health problem in the United States today.

Some estimates indicate that the cost associated with arthritis total more than $65 billion each and every year. Seems like a pretty serious health issue!

All arthritis is the same.

Wrong again!

There are more than 100 varieties of arthritis all which deserve individualized attention and care.

The different types of arthritis also have varying prognosis and treatment plans. All arthritis diagnoses are most certainly not the same.

Some arthritis is a direct result of trauma to the joint with arthritis developing in the subsequent years following the initial injury. Some arthritis is thought to be genetic.

Common arthritis myths still abound but you must take the time to dispel the myths from the truth if you are going to get the best arthritis care around. <bio>For more important information on arthritis be sure to visit http://arthritis-life.com where you will find information and resources on arthritis such as arthritis relief, arthrits treatments, and other articles that you can view at http://www.arthritis-life.com </bio>

Ringworm is a very common form of skin disease that is found in both dogs and cats. Although its name makes you think otherwise, this skin disease isn't caused by any type of worm. It's actually caused by fungi known as Dermatophytes that feed on dead tissues found in the surface of the skin, spreading them around the skin of the animal http://www.motorcycless.info

With cats, there is a certain type of fungi known as M Canis that is found with nearly 95% of all ringworm cases. Normally, cats will get the ringworm disease from contaminated objects like bedding, clippers, or another animal that already has the disease. If there are animals in your home or around your house that have the ringworm disease, your cat could very easily contract it this way.

If you have kittens or cats that are under a year old in your home, you should always use precaution, as they are more susceptible to ringworm. Kittens can easily contract the disease, especially if you allow them to go outside. They can easily come in contact with a contaminated object or another cat that has the disease. Kittens take a long time to build their immune system up, and in the meantime they are more apt to get common disease such as ringworm.

The most common symptoms of ringworm in cats are rough or broken hairs, or hair loss around the head or the paws. Ringworm can easily be identified by a patch of scaly skin on the body that appears itchy and inflamed. There will also be broken hairs around the patch of scaly skin. This area is very sensitive, and you should never try to touch it, as it will hurt your cat.

If you notice any of the above symptoms with your pet, you should immediately schedule an appointment with your vet. If the vet diagnosis your cat with ringworm, he may prescribe ointment or tablets. What he describes however, will determine on how serious the ringworm is. If he prescribes tablets to your cat, you should give them with meals. Ointment on the other hand, is normally spread into the coat, topically. You should always use what your vet prescribes on a daily basis, to ensure that your cat heals. The healing process will take time, normally around six weeks or more.

Cats that have ringworm should be labeled as infectious. If you have children in the house, you should keep them away from your pet. Whenever you handle your cat, you should always use gloves. Ringworms are contagious, and you should always use caution. Even though it's a mild disease, ringworm can result in serious problems due to the slow recovery time and fact that it's contagious. <bio>http://www.holidayss.info </bio>

Abdominal pain with diarrhea and weight loss for no apparent reason can be an early indication of Crohn's disease.

The symptoms of Crohn's disease can vary in intensity from mild to severe to even life altering. Your health can suffer greatly if you are experiencing intestinal disorder. Some Crohn's sufferers find themselves giving up some of their basic daily activities just in case of an episode of Crohn's disease eruption.

Crohn's disease is an inflammation or ulceration of the digestive tract and is most often seen in the lowest portion of the small intestine known as the ileum. Crohn's disease can also be seen in the large intestine or colon.

Symptoms of Crohn's disease include abdominal pain, diarrhea, weight loss, poor appetite, fever, night sweats, rectal pain and rectal bleeding. These Crohn's disease symptoms can vary in severity and can show themselves all together or a few at a time. Regardless any of these symptoms can make you feel horribly and can invade your plans for the day.

There are several different types of Crohn's disease which include Crohn's colitis, Crohn's enteritis, Crohn's terminal iletis, Crohn's entero-colitis and ileo-colitis.

The two most common types of Crohn's disease are Crohn's terminal ileitis and Crohn's ileo-colitis.

Crohn's terminal ileitis is an inflammation that invades, as its names suggests, only the very end of the small intestines. Most commonly with terminal ileitis, symptoms experienced are often seen as abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Crohn's ileo-colitis is one of the other most common types of Crohn's disease seen today. With ileo-colitis, the colon and small intestine become horribly inflamed and show up as abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea.

If you see these symptoms then it is important to see your healthcare provider to determine if you have a definitive diagnosis of Crohn's disease. To determine if you have Crohn's disease, your healthcare provider will take a complete medical history and perform a physical exam. Your physician may also order imaging test such as a barium x-ray to look at the intestine and the colon. It is also rather common for physicians to order a colonoscopy to determine a definitive diagnosis of Crohn's disease. This allows your physician to look directly into the colon to see exactly what is going on.

Unfortunately at this time, Crohn's disease cannot be cured. However, there are many medications on today's market that can help manage the disease. Medications can reduce the inflammation and infection often seen in conjunction with the worsening symptoms of Crohn's disease.

Remember, if you are suffering from health issues involving your intestinal function, it is important to seek medical care so that you can receive the proper treatment. Crohn's disease is a serious health issue and one that deserves your attention. <bio>For more important information on health topics sure to visit http://www.the-health-hub.com where you will find information and resources on personal health such as Crohn's Disease, conditions and diseases, diet and nutrition, fitness and many other articles that you can view at http://the-health-hub.com </bio>

It is well known among those individuals who have been diagnosed with Chrohn's Disease, as well as their family and their doctors, that there is no known cause of Crohn's Disease. Even so, there are many theories as to what triggers the disease, although they are just theories, and have not been adequately proven at this point.

One of the most common theories on the cause of Crohn's Disease has to do with the reaction of the body's immune system to certain viruses. The theory is that the immune system reacts to a virus or bacteria within the digestive system. Some evidence shows that the body protects itself from a perceived threat to the digestive system by causing inflammation within the intestines. Those who suffer from inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's Diseas and Ulcerative colitis do typically show a high instance of abnormalities in their immune systems. Doctors, however cannot confirm at this time whether the immune system abnormalities are a cause of the diseases, or a result of them.

There are a number of other factors that may figure strongly in the role of the development of Crohn's Disease. Infection, family medical history, genetics, diet, immunological factors, measles, MMR vaccine, and psychological factors all may all play a role in the development of Crohn's Disease. Some people develop Crohn's Disease after suffering gastroenteritis, yet the infection itself is not regarded as a cause of Crohn's Disease.

There have been studies that show that genetics may play a role in the cause of Crohn's Disease. Statistics show that if one member of the family suffers from Crohn's Disease, then there is an increased chance for other family members to develop the disease as well. First degree relatives, that is, parents, siblings, or children of an individual with any Inflammatory Bowel Disease will have a much higher risk of developing such Crohn's or other Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. The risk of developing Crohn's Disease is increased with identical twins.

Diet is another area that is looked at as a cause of Crohn's Disease, since it is often used by patients to address the symptoms of Crohn's Disease, and dietary changes will be inexpensive. Treatments involving an individual's diet vary in their results, but there is a consensus that certain foods should be avoided. Even though a particular diet doesn't cause Crohn's Disease in and of itself, there may be certain foods in the diet may trigger symptoms of Crohn's or make the symptoms worse.

Some vaccines, particularly measles and MMR vaccines have been looked at recently regarding a link between the vaccines and various diseases including Crohn's. There is not enough evidence, however to link these vaccines to Crohn's disease.

Psychological factors are not the cause of an Inflammatory Bowel Disease such as Crohn's disease and that there is no hard proof to support the link between those psycholigical factors and the disease itself. However, the stress of living with such a disease can make the symptoms of Crohn's Disease worse.<bio>Visit Digestive System Disorders for more information on Crohn's Disease and other digestive problems.</bio>

Whenever possible it is always best to try and treat diseases and disorders in a natural way. However, there are times when medication can become necessary. Fortunately, for sufferers of Crohn's Disease, there are medications available that are highly effective in limiting the severity and regularity of the disease.

Oftentimes, the first medicines called upon in the fight against Crohn's Disease are anti-inflammatory drugs. This should come as no surprise as Crohn's manifests itself as inflammation in the intestinal lining. There are various types of anti-inflammatory medications available. Not every drug is effective for every person. Some of the medications work well for mild cases while others work better for more severe flare-ups.

Corticosteroids are amazing when dealing with severe episodes of Crohn's Disease. However, since they work by lowering the effectiveness of the immune system the effect is like taking your goalie out in a hockey game. This is why corticosteroids are not normally given to those with mild flare-ups. The side-effects can be severe so medical doctors normally are cautious when prescribing them.

Immunomodulators are not as powerful as corticosteroids, but they work in the same fashion. However, immunomodulators do not come with the side-effects that their close cousins bring. These drugs are great for helping those in remission stay in that stable state.

Since infections have been closely tied to Crohn's Disease it makes sense that antibiotics are often effective in the good fight. One of the major concerns about using antibiotics is the tendency for them to become less effective as time goes on. The more a person uses a certain antibiotic the greater resistance the bacteria in the body will build up a resistance to it. In addition, using antibiotics can also destroy good bacteria that aid the body in digestion.

Another weapon in the arsenal against Crohn's Disease is through the use of biologic therapy. This type of therapy is normally reserved for the most severe flare-ups. This form of therapy is like a nuclear bomb to the immune system -- minus the radiation. It results in a knock-out of the immune system's ability to produce TNF-alpha -- a protein associated with inflammation.

Surprisingly, antidepressants are also used to battle Crohn's Disease -- but not in the way you are thinking. Antidepressants do not battle inflammation or eliminate fistulas. Actually, they work on beating back the psychological effects of the disease which can be highly disconcerting. One of the worst symptoms of Crohn's is depression. The pain, worry, and discomfort of the disease can often drive someone with Crohn's into deep depression. When depressed, people usually do not respond as well to treatments and the immune system may also be compromised. There are many medications available for the treatment of Crohn's Disease. The best plan of action is to visit your doctor and discuss available treatments. Remember, defeating Crohn's Disease is possible but it will be a lifelong cause. <bio>Sharon Dobson has an interest in Crohn's Disease. It is one of the main factors causing the heart attack itself. A patient suffering from the Coronary Artery Disease has arteries which grow both narrow and hard. As a result the heart does not get the required amount of blood. The Coronary Artery Disease can also cause

a)Angina Angina is nothing but the discomfort experienced by the heart when it does not get sufficient blood. This leads to the chest pain. This chest pain is very often like squeezing in the chest, rarely a pain is experienced in the back, neck, arms, shoulders or jaws also. It can also cause an upset in the stomach or lead to indigestion. Angina does not actually mean heart attack but surely does mean that thee is a likelihood of a heart attack.

b)Heart attack Occurrence of the heart attack is due to the fact when the artery is completely or even severely blocked. This block extend for about a period of twenty minutes to achieve heart attack.

2.The Heart Failure The main reason as to why the heart fails is due to the fact that the heart loses its ability to pump blood to the body as in normal cases. This means that the organs do not receive sufficient amount of blood. It also does not mean that heart has completely stopped.

Certain signs of the failure of the heart include.

a)There exists a swelling in the ankle, the feet, and the legs. b)There is a decrease in the duration of breath. c)Feeling of being extremely tired. In this discussion there is the factor which cause the heart disease have been discussed. The two of the most famous types of the heart diseases also have been discussed. <bio>Justin foss is the proud owner of the site http://www.mymedicenter.com where he spends most of his time to make it better. </bio>

You may have been visiting your doctor for years complaining about a myriad of symptoms. People may think that you are a hypochondriac. Yet you knew something was wrong. And one day finally you are told a diagnosis that you have a disease called Lyme disease. How is it that the medical community was clueless? After all this is the 21'st century with advanced medicine and all the tests in the world. Why you wonder was your Lyme disease caught before.

The answers are myriad. First Lyme disease is frequently misdiagnosed. Physicians overlook cases of Lyme disease simply because they do not know the complex nature of the origin and development of Lyme Disease. Lyme Disease can cause over 100 different symptoms and the one commonly known symptom of Lyme Disease -- that is joint pain is only one of the many presentations of Lyme Disease.

Secondly the tests for Lyme Disease are frequently useless and frequently misleading. The bacteria which causes Lyme disease can only infrequently be grown in bacterial plates. There is no one test to medical test diagnose Lyme Disease. Hence your doctor has to be on the ball to catch your symptoms. And even then he may not put together your odd symptoms as Lyme Disease if you unlucky enough to have Lyme Disease symptoms that "are not in the book".

Not only is that Lyme Disease not caused by the one known bacteria. It is now estimated that 300 different strains of bacterial worldwide cause Lyme Disease. Further it is not only the deer tick that spreads Lyme Disease. Other ticks such as Lone Star Ticks, western black legged and wood ticks can spread Lyme Disease as well. And if that is not enough global warming is spreading the geographic range of some of these insects to previously unknown areas.

You are not alone in being left out in the cold. It turns out that Lyme Disease is much more common than previously estimated -- up to 10 to 15 times higher than the previous underrated estimates. As you well have figures out by now doctors often miss most cases if Lyme Disease. The reasons are not hard to figure out. Further because of the apparent low rates of this disease it is not considered of any major public health concern so that there is no mandatory reporting procedure as one might find with venereal diseases. You have been caught in a terrible vicious cycle. Low diagnosis rates since doctors do not know what to look for and tests are not accurate in any manner. Then because the true prevalence of the incidence of Lyme Disease is vastly underreported Lyme disease is seen as a minor disease that is well taken care of. Hence there is little need for education on how to catch the symptoms of Lyme Disease ..The circle goes on and on.

Amazingly even if you are one of the lucky few and have your Lyme Disease correctly diagnosed you may not be home free. You may be under treated with antibiotic therapy. The stated course of action is a 6 week schedule of antibiotic therapy. Yet it often takes months, years and perhaps for ever of antibiotic therapy to manage this lingering disease with its hardy bacterial threat.

It has been said that just because you are paranoid does not mean that people are not out to get you. You were not imagining that your Lyme Disease took a very long time to diagnose. And the reasons are real not imagined. <bio>Margaret S.
If you have recently been diagnosed with Crohn's disease or another Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), such as ulcerative colitis you are not alone. As many as one million Americans have Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. There is no gender divide in those that it strikes, but develops more commonly among those who are between 15 and 35. Unfortunately like most diseases it can actually strike at any age. Some figures suggest that about 10% or 100,000 sufferers inAmerica are under the age of 18.

Genes play a major role, 200 - 25 found in family, this increases the risk of developing IBD at 10 times the norm and with a brother or sister thelikelihood of developing it increases to t300 times the norm. Strangely, when we look at the disease from a racial perspective, it seems somewhat selective. The disease occurs more often in whites, and in particular Jews. Jews in America are 5 times more likely to develop the disease than any other ethnic or racial group in the US. IBD is also more prevalent in 1st world countries than others, inparticularly in the Europe and the U.S. More common in built-up urban areas than in rural areas, it is also strangely more common in the northern hemisphere than the southern hemisphere.

Let us now look at the symptoms of Crohn's disease. Symptoms of Crohn's disease, like most other illnesses, differ from one person to another as well as their severity. There are some symptoms which occur in all sufferers, which are persistent diarrhea, abdominal pains, rectal bleeding and fever. Other symptoms include fatigue, loss of appetite leading to marked weight loss. In adolescents and children it can affect growth, delaying it and sexual development. Given the symptoms, one would be forgiven for thinking that Crohn's can be a debilitating disease, butin fact that is not the case. Crohn's disease is chronic but the person can go through periods of remission where symptoms can be reduced or disappear completely, allowing them to lead productive and happy lives.

Crohn's disease has no known cure. Medication is used to reduce the inflammation associated with the disease. This helps the damaged tissue to heal, reducing the abdominal pain associated with the disease, and also reduces fever and the pain caused by the disease. Once this medication has placed thepatent's disease into remission, therapy is then used to reduce the chances of relapse. Surgery is something that most sufferers will have to face at some point or another. Medication can only help so far as to control the symptoms, but they may progress to the point where medication is ineffective. Surgery is used most commonly to remove a segment of the bowel including an abscess or intestinal obstruction.Re-sectioning the bowel is completed when the two healthy ends of the bowel are joined together. This procedure can allow the person to lead years of trouble free healthy lives, it is not considered a cause for Crohn's disease. <bio>Janie Jonah http://www.perfectdrugrx.com (c) 2006, PerfectDrugRx.
The general public makes seven common misconceptions with relation to Parkinson's disease. Dispelling these myths will go a long way to creating awareness about this incurable neurological disorder and allow those afflicted with it to feel more comfortable in society.

The first common misconception is that Parkinson's disease only affects the elderly. This is absolutely fals. Although this disease does tend more often to strike those in late middle age, that is in their fifties or early sixties, it does also occur in younger people. In recent years, an average of 5-10 percent of newly diagnosed cases of Parkinson's disease were early-onset, that is they were been found in people under the age of 40. Younger patients don't tend to suffer from walking or balance-related issues or have their thinking processes impaired as often as older patients but they do often experience vibrations and involuntary movements.

The second misconception is that all people with Parkinson's disease suffer from tremors. Tremors are the most common symptom of Parkinson's disease. Tremors are found in approximately 70 percent of sufferers, however 15-25 percent of Parkinson's patients do not experience any form of tremors at all.

Public perception often unfairly stereotypes Parkinson's patients as being miserable, rude or stupid. As the disease progresses, sufferers develop more and more difficulties in their ability to communicate with others. Problems with speech, swallowing, drooling, and jerky facial and body movements result in people labeling a Parkinson's patient unfairly. Some people, unaware of a person's condition, wrongly believe that person to be inebriated when their speech is slurred.

The fourth common misconception is that there is a way to prevent Parkinson's disease. Researchers have not identified the exact cause of the disease and therefore absent this information, prevention is impossible. Most, however, do believe that Parkinson's disease is caused by a combination of environmental factors coupled with a genetic predisposition.

The fifth misconception is that lifestyle modifications have no impact in improving disease symptoms. In fact, the reverse is true. Regular exercise, particularly muscle-strengthening exercises and walking, and accompanying dietary changes cannot slow the progression of the disease but can decrease the severity of symptoms.

The sixth common misconception is that people with Parkinson's disease are unable to live independent and productive lives. This is patently untrue. The progression of the disease differs greatly between individuals. Some individuals suffer milder forms of Parkinson's than do others. Not everyone experiences the same combination of symptoms or equal severity of symptoms. With medication, regular exercise and dietary considerations most Parkinson's sufferers can live independently and be as productive as anyone else. Initially many do not need to quit their jobs, although some may as their disease progresses and their condition deteriorates.

The seventh common misconception is that Parkinson's disease causes death. Parkinson's has not been proven fatal although patients suffering from it do have particular health concerns. The disease may wreak havoc on the respiratory system, which has a tendency to lead to pneumonia, under certain conditions. A form of pneumonia known as aspiration pneumonia is of particular concern. Many sufferers develop problems with swallowing which can cause aspiration of food adn lead to aspiration pneumonia. Additionally, a lack of movement can cause a person to be more susceptible to developing a variety of infections. Many Parkinson's patients don't develop any of the above problems and continue live with the disease anywhere from 20-30 years after diagnosis. <bio>Mary Davis contributes to several web sites, including http://dukof.com and http://femik.com </bio>

Each day and night there are bacteria multiplying rapidly in your mouth. Although the bacterium is not likely potent enough to cause your body systematic symptoms of infection, the same bacteria can silently wreck havoc on your dental health. In fact, common germs found in a human mouth are responsible for bad breath and more seriously, periodontal disease (also called gum disease).

Gum disease begins with plaque. Plaque contains bacteria, which can cause your gums to become infected. Proper dental care is necessary to avoid the buildup of plaque and consequently the possibility of gum disease. If your dental health is being compromised, you may experience the following three gum disease warning signs:

Bleeding Gums

In the earliest form of gum disease, you may experience bleeding gums. You may have no discomfort, just the presence of blood upon brushing or flossing your teeth. Many people don't take this periodontal disease symptom seriously, putting themselves at a great disadvantage in regard to their dental health. Bleeding gums can indeed be a consequence of inadequate oral hygiene. However with help from your dentist and with good oral care at home, you can reverse the effects of poor dental hygiene.

Swollen Gums

As gum disease progresses, it can advance from gingivitis to periodontitis. This occurs when plaque spreads below the gum line. When plaque spreads under the gum line, the bacteria within it begins to irritate your gums. There is a chronic inflammatory response that occurs at this point, within your body. Because of the toxic bacteria in the plaque, your body will start attacking itself and ultimately the tissues and bone around each tooth is destroyed from within.

Unexplained Bad Breath

While bad breath can be quite annoying, it is often a sign of poor dental health. Bad breath can occur when you eat something with an unpleasant or lingering scent. However, most often chronic and unexplained bad breath is due to gum disease. It is often a symptom of advanced gum disease, as it comes from the decaying teeth and lingering bacteria and toxins.

If you are experiencing any of these dental symptoms, you should see your dentist immediately. Gum disease is a very serious condition that should be taken quite seriously. Gingivitis and periodontitis are valid infections that can lead to secondary infection in the mouth and other areas of your body.

These common dental symptoms are often ignored due to the lack of knowledge about gum disease. You may even be experiencing these symptoms without concern, thinking they are a cause of a less serious condition. Perhaps you think your gums bleed only because you brush your teeth too aggressively, or because you don't floss often enough. However, most dentists will agree that bleeding gums, bad breath, and swollen gums are serious dental symptoms that are often warning signs of impending gum disease.

As the infection in your mouth worsens, serious complications can occur that affect your general wellbeing. In fact, experts state that there is a link between gum disease and common health issues like heart attacks, strokes, and premature delivery.

There is good news, even if you currently suffer with bleeding gums, swollen gums, and unexplained bad breath. With a defensive natural plan, you can have a healthy mouth once again! <bio>Taylor Clarke writes articles dealing with health and dental issues including Gum Disease http://www.clicknowhealth.com/t/go.php?c=ad3 and Receding Gums. http://www.clicknowhealth.com/t/go.php?c=ad3_2 </bio>

Characterized as a movement disorder, Parkinson's disease often is accompanied by muscle stiffness, a slowing or loss of physical movement, tremor, etc. In addition, Parkinson's disease may carry symptoms that include mood swings (i.e., depression, anxiety, panic attacks, apathy, etc.), changes in behavior, sensations (i.e., arms, legs, hands, etc.) and the ability to process thoughts. Because each case of Parkinson's disease is unique to the individual it affects, the symptoms may vary from one person to another.

There are several treatment options available to patients who suffer from Parkinson's disease, including medication that may help to ease the symptoms, surgical procedures, a customized diet consisting of nutrition and exercise. Clinical research indicates that nutrients may help to treat Parkinson's disease and may even help to slow it's deteriorating effects. Certain types of physical activities, including yoga and dance are believed to be beneficial in helping to maintain mobility and may ease the discomfort associated with muscle stiffness caused by Parkinson's disease.

Certain types of medication, including those prescribed for treatment of Parkinson's disease, carry a risk of dangerous side effects. Therefore, it is important for patients to discuss any possible side effects with their physician prior to taking any medication. It is equally important that physicians be made aware of any past or current medical condition from which the patient suffers and/or any medications that they are currently using. At times, one medication can have a negative reaction with another, which is why it is very important that the patient disclose their medical history to the doctor who is treating them for Parkinson's disease.

To this day, research continues in the fight to find a cure for Parkinson's disease. Fundraisers and donations are all a part of what makes medical research possible and what many hope will eventually lead to a cure for this life-altering illness. While Parkinson's disease may result in the patient becoming more apt to developing other medical conditions, the most common cause of death in patients suffering from Parkinson's disease is believed to be that of pneumonia.

The information in this article is intended for informational purposes only.
Though Crohn's disease is often contained within the digestive system, it can affect other parts of the body. Most people worry about the more obvious symptoms and problems that can go along with this condition, but a different complication of Crohn `s disease may pop up when they least expect it to.

Though vision and eye problems are not very common, and will only happen with ten percent of Crohn's patients, it is something to watch out for when a flare up happens. These are usually very easily corrected, but they should be taken care of as soon as they are noticed.

Probably the most commonly reported eye problem that is associated with Crohn's disease is Uveitis. This usually causes red eyes, loss of vision or blurred vision, and a possible problem with the eyes being more sensitive to light. If you have these symptoms, you should go in to see your eye doctor for help, remembering to tell them you have crohn's.

They will examine the eye wall to see if there is inflammation present. If there is, you may be given a eye drop that contains a steroid to help alleviate the pressure and the discomfort. When a patient manages to get their other Crohn's symptoms under control, this problem will go away as well. If left untreated, glaucoma is possible.

Another of the more common problems that can happen with the eyes in relation to Crohn's is dry eyes. This happens when the body is not getting enough vitamin A, which is what the eyes need to remain healthy. The eyes might feel dry, itchy, and irritated. Night vision can become compromised. If this problem is not treated eye infection can occur. As long as a person seeks medical attention early, a supplement of vitamin A and artificial tears for comfort might be all that is needed

Much like Uveitis, Espiscleritis is an inflammation problem within the eye, but this is found in the whites of the eyes and might be very noticeable. One of the first things you are going to notice is that the eyes appear to be very red. This is because the blood vessels in the eyes are inflamed. You may also notice pain or pressure when you have this. It can also be cleared up with special eye drops, and will clear up with other Crohn's related symptoms once remission is achieved. You might also get Keratopahthy. However, you may never know it. It is painless, and there is no treatment needed.

If you find that you have a complication of Crohn `s disease that relates to the eye, you should see your doctor at once to get it cleared up. Though most of the time these are not huge issues, they can be if they are left untreated. You should avoid activities that might be dangerous when being treated for vision problems. Don't drive, and let everyone in your life know that your vision is compromised. <bio>Grab your free copy of Sharon Dobson's brand new Crohn's Disease Newsletter here at http://natural-crohns-disease-relief.com?source=is which is overflowing with tips to help you understand the various complication of crohn 's disease and how to combat them. </bio>
