Based on this choosing the right color scheme can and should certainly be given almost top priority. The last thing you want to do is steam ahead with the first color scheme that comes to mind and then have to backtrack and work twice as hard to cover up the mistake you made in haste right?

Perhaps looking at more traditional or at least more established color schemes would be a good place to start?

The ever popular European scheme focuses on very rich, and sometimes old-fashioned, colors. These are mainly dark reds and dark gold, as well as blues and purples. They should not be totally matte, or too metallic, but just enough to reflect the light a little bit. To go specifically for a French feel, light gold, light maroon and blue create a truly French theme.

If you fancy going further than the Mediterranean, a tropical theme focuses on greens, light blues, and browns, as well as highlighting colors, and shades that bring the room to life, such as red and yellow. White also works well, as it fits in with the feel of clean air on tropical islands.

Or maybe keep the ocean feel, but bring it back home to a local seaside theme. Light brown, sea blue and medium green, as well as a sandy orange can all be used to give this image. Light grey also goes well if you're aiming to create a rocky feel, or perhaps the tone of a typical rainy day at the seaside!

Perhaps you don't fancy any of these and would prefer to go east with an Asian style room. This theme thrives on blacks and whites, highlighted using red and blue, which gives the room depth, and a small amount of gold can also be used to create a luxurious feel.

After the color scheme is sorted, you should be all set to complete the room with furniture and accessories, resulting in a room that you just simply love! <bio>Do you want to avoid doubling your interior decorating budget?
The color of the walls is extremely important when it comes to interior decorating and there are many different colored decorating styles you could go for. Take your time and ensure that you choose wisely otherwise it will throw the balance completely off.

Color is perhaps the most important thing which you need to look at when it comes to decorating. No matter what style you choose for your home, it is going to need a fresh look to the walls and choosing the right color is essential.

These days there are so many different colors to choose from so just how do you know which one is right for your room?

Choosing the Right Color Scheme

In order to choose the right color scheme for your room you need to spend some time knowing what look you want to achieve. Look at the colors already around the home. Are you planning on changing the whole house or just that one room?

If you are just changing one room then you need to make sure that the color you choose not only suits that room, but the color scheme of the whole house. For example, you do not want to opt for a vibrant purple color when the rest of the house is decorated in white. It would look simply odd and the room would not flow at all with the rest of the house. So, always take care of the color that you choose and do not be too hasty just because you like it.

If you want to create a warm looking room it does not mean that you have to use a vibrant red color. It is more than possible to use a cream color and create the warmth with the smaller pieces of furniture and decorations. You could have warm colored curtains such as a deep red. It would not contrast with the walls if it was the right color. A deep red can look different in many different places so look around to find the right color for you.

The furniture should match the color of your walls or if it doesn't match it should compliment it. You can get ideas from magazines as to what looks better with what and that will help you when you do actually look into adding a little color to the room. You can also find ideas on the internet and maybe ever from friends and family. Though the room should be personal to you and so it needs to reflect your personality not anybody else's.

You need to decide what you want the focus to be within the room. Usually the walls are not really the focus but if you choose a vibrant color with natural colored furniture then they will be. So, think carefully before choosing any color and ensure that it compliments the main focus in the room. For example in the bedroom you may want the bed itself to be the main focus. If that is the case it should be decorated with perhaps neutral shades and a throw over the end would go really well. Meanwhile the walls would also be a soft color perhaps a nice cream color.

Overall you need to do your research and look through plenty of magazines to see what goes and what doesn't. Only then will you have an idea of what color to do the walls so that it makes the whole room look inviting and personal. <bio>Andrew Caxton is the editor of http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com .
Color is the key to successful decorating. You can have the most expensive furnishings you can find, but without the right color scheme, they mean nothing. Color can work magic in a room by taking disparate furnishings and uniting them with color.

Adding color to a room is quite inexpensive. A new color of paint and fabrics can totally change a room.

The human eye can perceive approximately 10 million different colors. Just imagine all of the different color combinations that can be created. Even so, some color combinations are definitely better than others.

When looking at colors, there are eleven different terms that you should know:

1. Primary colors are the three main colors that every other color is made from: red, blue and yellow. Primary colors are often used in children's rooms because they are bright and will catch a child's attention.

2. Secondary colors are the colors that are created when you combine equal parts of the three primary colors. The color orange comes from red and yellow; green is from yellow and blue; and violet is from blue and red.

3. Tertiary colors are the result of combining a primary color with the nearest secondary color to it on the color wheel. The colors would appear as blue-green, yellow-green, yellow-orange, red-purple, and blue-purple.

4. Related color schemes result from combining secondary and tertiary colors. For instance, the colors blue-green and green will evoke a calming effect because there are no jarring changes in color.

5. Complementary colors are located directly opposite each other on the color wheel. They would turn gray when they are mixed together in paint, but they can be used together - carefully - when decorating a room. Sometimes these color combinations can be too overwhelming so care is needed when using them.

6. Hue is a descriptive word for color, such as leaf green, robin's egg blue or burgundy.

7. Saturation means how saturated (how much color) there is in the basic color. For example, light blue and navy are both still blue. Navy is more saturated with the blue color.

8. The value of a color is how light or dark a color is. White has the brightest value and black has the darkest value.

9. Tints represent the colors that are closest to white in value. These would be pastel colors.

10. Shades are the colors that are closest to black in color, like hunter green or deep purple.

11. Neutrals are the andquot;nonandquot; colors, like black, white, gray, brown and beige. They can produce a pleasing color scheme on their own or mixed with other colors.

Color plays an important part in decorating. The entire feel of a room can be changed just by changing the color scheme. <bio>Jude Wright is the owner of http://decoratingsimple.com where you can find great decorating ideas for those on a budget.
When you drive through some neighborhoods, it seems like every home is the same color or at least a different shade of the same color. It also seems that the majority of home owners choose to paint their homes in shades of brown or gray. There is, of course, no problem with this, as brown and gray can be a wonderful choice to complement the home's natural surroundings. Some people however, like to break away from the traditional colors and go with something a little bolder.

While brown or gray can be very attractive colors for your exterior home painting, they may not be quite what you are looking for. There are vast exterior home painting color options that can offer you the boldness you are searching for, it is finding them that can sometimes be the difficult part. If you have a color scheme in mind, but are not sure it will look right on your home, you might want to try using a software program that will show you if the finished house painting product will look good on your home. There are quite a few software programs that will allow you see exactly what your home would look like with a wide variety of house painting colors.

You can also look through photo galleries of what other home owners have done with their exterior home painting to get an idea of what you would like to use for your house painting. Sometimes the best resource for inspiration can come from other people. Although you may not like exactly what someone else has done with their exterior home painting, their color schemes could spark an idea of what you would like for yours. At the very least, viewing what others have done will give you an idea of what you do not want for your home.

Another great resource to help you choose a color scheme is a contracted painter. If you have already hired a contracted painter for the job, ask them for ideas on what would look good on your home. They will likely have knowledge of what color schemes work well and also on those that do not look good. This is another reason why it can be beneficial to hire a contracted painter rather than attempting to complete the project by yourself. First of all, if you have no experience in painting, you are risking doing a poor job on the project. Secondly, although you may think that a color scheme will look good, once you have completed the project, you may realize that it does not look as good on your home as you had imagined.

Above all else, think of a color that defines you and your home. Choose one that you will be happy looking at day in and out. If you are considering going with a very bold color for your exterior home painting, but think that it might be just a little too bold, you could always start out with painting the trim with the bolder color and the majority of the home with a more subtle tone. This can help give you an idea of what the bold color looks like on your home and then if you still like it, you could use that as your main color when it needs repainted.<bio>More information on exterior home painting, home improvement and College Works Painting in your area is just a click away.</bio>

Artists have known for centuries that color schemes taken from the Color Wheel have a dramatic effect on the final impact of their paintings. There are hot, energetic colors which leap off a canvas, and there are cool, soothing colors which recede, drawing the viewer's eye into the distance. The ways in which these colors are juxtaposed can completely change the emotions a painting evokes, and they can do the same for interior spaces.

Interior designers who specialize in home office decorating know that the color schemes they choose will have an affect on the mindset of the home office worker, so they determine in advance if a calming, or invigorating, style of home office decorating is more appropriate.

Those home workers who expect spend several hours at a stretch in the home office should do a bit of self-assessment, and determine if they would benefit more from a home office decorating scheme which helps them stay calm and focused, or a home office decorating scheme which makes them feel energetic and confident. For more info see <a href="http://www.i-homeofficefurniture.com/Cheap_Home_Office_Furniture/" >http://www.i-homeofficefurniture.com/Cheap_Home_Office_Furniture/ on Cheap Home Office Furniture

Calm, Cool, and Collected

The cool colors--blues, purples, and greens--will provide a low-impact home office decorating scheme which quiets the mind and allows the worker to focus on a project instead of his or her surroundings. If concentrating is one of your weak points, stay at the cool end of the color spectrum.

Spicing It Up

If, on the other hand, you feel like falling asleep as soon as you sit down and turn your computer on, you will benefit from a home office decorating scheme which features warm colors. Yellows, oranges, and reds make their surroundings much more invigorating, and stimulate the brain. In office spaces, however, it's a good idea to limit the pure reds, yellows, and oranges to accents and have larger areas colored with more diluted warm shades like russet. You don't want to go overboard with your home office decorating scheme.

The Neutral Zone

If you have a very small office space, consider a neutral home office decorating scheme. Light neutral colors, when used without too many dark accents, can make a small space appear much roomier. And neutral schemes adapt beautifully to any type of furnishings. If you find them too boring for your home office decorating scheme, just enliven them with touches of your favorite warm or cool pure colors. You'll have enough color to soothe or energize you, and a home office which seems much more airy and spacious than its dimensions give it any right to be! <bio>You can also find more info on http://www.i-homeofficefurniture.com/Home_Office_Chairs/ on Home Office Chairs and http://www.i-homeofficefurniture.com/Home_Office_Computer/ on Home Office Computer. http://i-homeofficefurniture.com is a comprehensive resource to get help in home office. </bio>

An aesthetically pleasing color scheme can make or break your website. After all, in advertising, color accounts for 60% of advertisement's acceptance or rejection. Therefore, color plays a pivotal role in determining whether or not a potential customer will choose to conduct business with your firm. A web designer needs to ensure that all of your website's colors work in harmony, while keeping the client's identity consistent with other marketing efforts.

Quick Rules of Thumb

- Stick to 3 to 5 colors when planning a website - When in doubt, use white for the background color, and black for the text color

Using Your Company's Logo colors

If your company already has a logo designed by a professional =96 great! This is the best starting point for choosing your website's color combination. You may choose to use the exact colors found in your logo, or even add some complimentary colors. But, it is important not to stray too far from your logo's color scheme in order to keep your company's identity consistent.

color Defines Mood

The colors of your website are important because they can elicit different emotions from your visitors. colors can make us happy, excited, angry or sad. Below is a list of colors along with the corresponding moods which they evoke:

Warm Colors

Red: aggressiveness, passion, strength, vitality Pink: femininity, innocence, softness, health Orange: fun, cheeriness, warm exuberance Yellow: positive thinking, sunshine, cowardice

Cool Colors

Green: tranquility, health, freshness Blue: authority, dignity, security, faithfulness Purple: sophistication, spirituality, costliness, royalty, mystery

Neutral Colors

Brown: utility, earthiness, woodiness, subtle richness White: purity, truthfulness, being contemporary and refined Gray: somberness, authority, practicality, corporate mentality Black: seriousness, distinctiveness, boldness, being classic

Choosing a Color Scheme

Once you understand the colors and their connotations, the next step is to choose a color scheme for your website. Below is list of different types of color combinations:

Monochromatic color combinations use a single color. Variations in lightness of the selected color can be used to create the sense of different colors. Monochromatic colors go well together, producing a soothing effect, and are very easy on the eyes. The drawback however, is that, it can be difficult to highlight the most important elements on your website.

Analogous color schemes use colors that are related, but not the identical, to create visually attractive combinations. Choosing this type of color scheme is accomplished by picking colors that are close to each other on the color wheel. For example, a selection of blues and purples, or reds and oranges would make a good analogous combination. One color must be picked as the dominant color while the others are used as accents.

Complementary (or contrasting) color schemes are comprised of 2 colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. This combination is most appealing when a warm and a cool color are used. For example, red with green or blue work well as contrasting colors. Using one color for your background, and its complementary color to highlight key elements will give you color dominance and color contrast. One word of caution: it is difficult for the human eye to focus on contrasting colors at the same time. Therefore, it is best to avoid using strong contrasts for background and text colors. <bio>Paul Coulter owns and operates a London Ontario Website Design Company. It isn't that difficult to do, and you can do it by making some creative changes to the walls of a room

With paint and a wallpaper border that has an African inspired theme, you can transform your room into one that boasts of African style and elegance. If your walls and wallpaper already coordinate, all you need to do is add the border, but if you need to paint the walls to incorporate a border, you want to make sure to use a color that is already in your room, and then add the border to finalize the creation of your new African inspired d=E9cor.

Choosing an African Inspired Wallpaper Border

Make sure you choose an African inspired wallpaper border that coordinates with a color currently in your room or a color scheme that will complement your current color scheme. If your room has printed furniture with a dominating print, the best idea is to choose the background color in that print to paint your walls, afterwards coordinating the wallpaper border to that color.

You will find a nice selection of different multi-cultural designs for wallpaper borders on http://African-Images.com. The most popular design presently is Abstract Masks, which is a modern portrayal of various African tribal masks. You can also give your room a genuine African feel with the traditional patterned Bushango line designs. The advantageous of these wallpaper borders are you can scrub them, they are already pasted, and they are easy to remove. If you are not sure about matching colors with the wallpaper borders, you can order samples. Once you receive the samples, place each one near large objects in the room to check for color match or coordination with any of the colors that are included in the wallpaper border. Once you find a good match, use the color of the object you used to match it as your wall color.

Choosing the Color of Your Paint

If it's necessary to paint your walls before you add your wallpaper border, take a sample of something that contains the wall color you need. If it's not a standard color, you can have the paint store mix it for you by using your sample.

Making Changes to Your Room

You can choose where you place your wallpaper borderand#8212;top, bottom, or chair railing height. Decide where you want to apply your wallpaper border before you begin, and if you plan to paint, prepare your walls and finish that first. Wait until your walls are completely dry before you add the wallpaper border you selected. <bio>Andrew Caxton publishes articles for http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com .
When one is home decorating on a budget, one of the easiest and cheapest ways to change the look of any home is to add color. Choosing the right colors for your home decorating can seem like such a daunting task however, that some people are frozen in indecision. Here are some great, easy guidelines to help teach you how to choose colors for your home.

*Identify a feeling that you want to convey in the home. This will go a long way towards helping you choose the right color scheme. If you are looking for a warm color scheme that wraps you in comfort, try deeper colors in warmer shades such as reds, gold, browns and some greens. Want a light, uplifting feeling? Sunny yellows might be just the ticket. Looking for a calming, serene atmosphere? Pale sky blues, spring greens and lilacs are what you are looking for.

*Find a perfect color scheme by borrowing the colors from a major fabric pattern, rug or wallpaper in the room. Use one of the colors in the pattern for the walls, another for the curtains and pillows, and a third for accessories. Make sure each color is used in at least three places in the room, and is evenly distributed. If you use a bright red as an accent color, you don't want it all on one side of the room, or it will seem unbalanced.

*Don't feel you have to paint every wall in a room. To save time and money, especially if you are unsure of your color choice, paint just the focal wall in the room. It will give you the impact without all the time and expense of an entire room redo.

*To expand space in a small home, keep all walls that can be seen at the same time the same pale, cool color. This works great for open plan homes. If you want to use a more vibrant color in the rooms, paint the outside walls the pale, cool color to visually expand the space, then paint the interior decorative walls the deeper color, or use that color on cabinets and furniture.

*Keep in mind colors in a room offer a psychological effect as well. Here is a quick run down of the most common colors, and how they affect those in the same environment.

Red- The color of love and passion, red tends to cause a lively feeling to any room. It can enhance appetite and feel energetic.

Yellow- The color of optimism. You can't help but to feel good in a sunny yellow room!

Blue- Seen as trustworthy, loyal. Blue is a claming color that feels like sky and water.

Green- The color of nature and peace. Soothing color that is easiest on the eye. Some greens are now used as neutrals in a room.

Purples- The color of royalty and luxury. It can be both uplifting and calming at the same time, depending on whether there is more blue or red in the undertone.

Remember that paint is relatively cheap, and if you don't end up liking the final result, you can always repaint, or use a glaze over the paint job to tone it down. Don't let fear keep you from adding color to your life, and to your home decorating, on a budget!<bio>Kathy Wilson is an author, columnist, and editor of The Budget Decorator.
Decorating the nursery can be a daunting yet fun experience and as long as you have done plenty of planning you should be fine. You can find everything you need pretty easily and even your local flea market might be able to help!

Most parents to be love decorating the nursery as it really does bring the reality that a new arrival is on its way. There are lots of different decorating styles that you could choose from that sometimes it can often be a hard decision to actually choose one! There are so many things to think about when planning the nursery so just what exactly should you be aware of?

Planning the Décor and Furniture

It is extremely important to plan first before you actually set off designing what you want. You need to plan the furniture, the color scheme and also the little extras that you may want within the room.

Furniture wise you are going to need a cot or a cot bed, a changing table and a wardrobe. Then there are extras such as a mobile to hang over the cot and a nightlight to soothe the baby at night as well as a playpen for when the baby needs to be left alone for a few minutes. However, before all of that you need to decide a color scheme.

Many parents to be choose a color scheme based on the sex of the baby. However, if you do not want to know the sex of your baby then you may wish to choose a neutral color. If you wanted to be completely different you could always decorate with a mural on the wall. Obviously you will need to be artistic to do this or you could buy wallpaper which has baby animals on it. Usually there is a wide selection of nursery wallpaper so if you do get stuck you can always go back to that.

Where to Find Nursery Equipment

If you are decorating the nursery with paint then your local hardware store should be able to help you. However, if you are using wallpaper then a DIY or craft shop may be able to help. As for the furniture, that can be found in all kinds of places.

Either you can choose the furniture and extras at a department store, or if you are on a budget you could always try the discount stores or even a flea market. You never know what you will find at a flea market and some parents do find some good bargains there. So, you have to be prepared to look everywhere and you should definitely find something to suit you.

Overall planning and decorating the nursery should be fun and it should be given at least a little planning beforehand! <bio>Andrew Caxton use to write on nursery and similar subjects for http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com .
Color schemes are fun no matter what they are being used for. Color schemes come into play when decorating a room or painting a house. They are created for use in web pages, clothing, or arts and crafts. There is something joyous in looking at, planning, and working with colors and trying to make them fit, aesthetically, into a piece of work. Colors send emotional messages, and they illustrate traditions, trends, or themes. Some of the most interesting color schemes are those applied to clothing.

In the 1970s, for example, the trend was for neon-like colors. Pink and green were used together in for a spring fashion extravaganza, with these two solid colors used in tunics, shifts, skirts and pants. The two colors in combination provided a nearly psychedelic display that nearly always brought springtime back for anyone who wore them. Even if you look at these colors together today, you will get the same feeling of spring.

Needlepoint patterns contain complicated and careful color schemes. These works use hundreds of shades of yarn and thread, and the artistic designer of a needlepoint pattern makes use of the appropriate color palettes by combining and integrating shades and hues of yarn or thread to create fine lines, details, sharp angles and shadows, and even degrees of light that make for a nearly photographic image.

In the profession of interior decorating, color schemes are also complex and demanding. They require much attention and a lot of study to be effective. The interior designer must think about things like where the light coming through a window will strike a particular color and how big a space will look if one color or another dominates it. These factors enter into the decisions of where to use particular colors in a home's interior. The color wheel is available online at a number of web sites to help with color scheme decisions. There is also information online concerning the psychology of color and the impact that specific color combinations have on humans.

Color tools are also very useful in the area of web site design. Just like color schemes for offices and other interior design project, color schemes for web sites are very important to the overall success of the site. Color may even be more important online because most web sites are created to sell products or services, and designers want the site's visitors to feel positive about their offerings. Using the appropriate color scheme and considering psychological factors that are related to color can make a site more successful. Different demographic factors, such as age, educational level, financial status, ethnicity, and others can be impacted through the presentation and layout of a web site. These elements of a site rely on color schemes to help them do the work of selling the product or service to a particular audience. <bio>Discover more articles about art, design and graphics by visiting http://www.design-advice.com </bio>

Talks about different designs and patterns in floor coverings and rugs and the advantages and disadvantages of using designs and patterns.

In a rug or floor covering where one area of color is the same as the others, where the forms in the patterns are exactly the same, where each piece of the design is counterbalanced by the exact piece of the design at an exact distance, either above or below, or to either side, it might normally be considered very well designed.

However, if such a rug or floor covering is large, this feature becomes overpowering and unattractive. On a smaller rug. the colors and patterns would not be repeated as many times. so the effect is not as annoying. But on a large rug, the pattern seems to go on endlessly. Some designs take this feature into account and use the laws of optics in ingenious ways to mitigate this effect, but in most cases, an unrelentingly busy pattern will not produce the calm, eye-pleasing effect that is desirable in floor coverings.

If <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/carpeting" rel="tag">carpeting is the floor covering of choice, it is better to carpet the floor in a color the same as the room, but in a darker shade. Perhaps not without any pattern at all, but with a simple pattern in the same colors as the room. This will allow the design scheme of the room to be carried through the pattern of the carpeting, though it may not afford a focal point in the room. This can be achieved by using a pattern only in the middle of the carpeting, and then adding a bold and wide border around the carpet. This may still make the pattern, especially on the border, seem obtrusive, but if the center pattern is small or subtle, and then scatter rugs or hearthside rugs are used in crucial places, this feature will also be softened.

Many times, a decorator or homemaker will choose a carpet that is a completly different, contrasting shade than the walls in order to achieve some drama in the decorating scheme. Using soft colored green carpeting with a room that is painted a tan color will usually result in a smooth blending of colors. As a matter of fact, green is one of the safest and most satisfying color to use in almost any color scheme, as long as it is in the same tone as the walls (a muted color green carpet with soft colored walls, for example).

There are some greens, such as those with more earthy tones, that are able to blend in with just about any decorating color scheme. These types of greens are considered the most calming in the color spectrum since they do not have any exact opposite colors. Green, in pale shades, is considered the most peaceful of colors and never opposes other colors in the room, as so many colors can do. Even with greens of a deeper tone or strength, this effect is able to be maintained. This, along with the natural calming effects of the color green, is one of the qualities that make it the best choice for flooring. <bio>Andrew Caxton writes for http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com ..
Decorating any home, apartment or office space is no easy task, especially if you have an eye for detail. It is even harder to decorate well when you realize how much it matters to decorate your space in ways that reflect you. I have recently been busy redecorating my office. It was very important for me that my office reflect who I am and that it be a comfortable environment for writing in. I chose, after much deliberation, to go with a Japanese art theme for my office.

I have always loved Japanese art, but it seems to be getting more popular and hence more widely available in the past few years. There is something about the look and feel of Japanese art that I love, so I figured it would be an excellent way to decorate a special space that I use for doing endless hours of valuable writing. I knew that I needed to be intentional about the way I decorated my office. I am very aware of my environment and so I know that I need to decorate and create my work environment with care. I write much better when I am inspired by my surroundings, and I know that Japanese art is very inspiring.

I began searching for Japanese art in thirft shops and in unique art shops. Anyone who is interested in Japanese art for their home or office could start on the internet by searching for Japanese art. See if there are any speciality shops or chain dealers in your area and then make a visit. While you can purchase great pieces of Japanese art off the internet, it is sometimes hard to really get a feel for the look and color scheme of an art piece without seeing it face to face. So don't hesitate to be picky and to search around for Japanese art pieces that fit your style and needs. There are varying kinds and styles of Japanese art that can be purchased, so see what you like first.

My love for Japanese art hinges on their great use of color. I am very much affected by color, so I love the bold and brilliant hues that most Japanese art is comprised of. I started my search for Japanese art by choosing a color scheme that I wanted to decorate with and then I chose pieces according to that scheme.

I am not sorry that I chose Japanese art to be the theme of my office decor. In fact, I love what I chose. It inspires me to work hard and to create in much the same way that the Japanese have created such great Japanese art. <bio>Rachael Cleipher has loved Japanese art for decorating for many years. She wants to see Japanese art become even more popular among those with an eye for the creative.
Log homes provide minimal choices for decorating themes. Choose your color scheme based upon the color tone or your wood. When you choose your decor, make certain it is attractive and complements the rest of the home.

The building of log homes peaked during the end of the 20th century and still continues. One of the things that draws people in the most is the way a log home looks from the outside. On the inside of the home, however, each family's interior log home d=E9cor is different from another. Of course, there are some basic that most people log homes utilize regarding home decor.

Basic Concepts for Decorating a Log Home

Decorating a log home's interior means you must locate a style that will complement the home's basic elements. Log home lacks flat walls that you can paint or to which you can apply wallpaper; the interior is of a wooden nature just like the outside. The home's walls and frequently the floors as well are wooden as are the stairwells and doors. You will find it challenging to decorate your log home, but the key is to find the most appropriate way to complement the wood in order to give the interior an authentic look that appeals to the eyes. A traditional home decor, for example, would not work well in a log home.

Using different shades of blue along with white is a well-liked color scheme for log homes, contingent upon the exact shade of the wood out of which your home is constructed. A blue and white color scheme works well with woods of a lighter shade, while darker woods use bolder color combinations like red and green.

The color scheme cannot stand by itself bur necessitates its effective use. In most cases, country style is the d=E9cor of a log home. This decorating style entails using curtains that are shorter and simpler with very minimal carpeting, often using nothing but area rugs and perhaps a few pieces of art hung on the walls. Modern art doesn't complement the d=E9cor of a log home very well, while furniture is usually of the wooden variety such as wooden rocking chairs that have fabric cushions instead of the overstuffed or reclining easy chairs that you find in modern homes.

Deciding How to Decorate Your Log Home

The final decision concerning the decorating d=E9cor for their log home is up to each family. If you conduct a quick survey of different home magazines, you will find there tends to be a similarity of style among log home owners. This is more than likely because the style of the house doesn't give many options in diversity or it may be that people who dwell in log homes have similar decorating tastes. No matter which style you choose, make sure it is attractive and complementary. <bio>Andrew Caxton is a consultant who writes on many consumer topics for http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com ..
Many artists enjoy decorating dollhouses as much as they do building them. Doll house paint schemes have no limits, and the license to be creative is free. Painted dollhouses give the artist an opportunity to express their own personal tastes and styles. Here are several suggestions to keep in mind when you are trying to plan and design the colors for you doll house paint scheme.

Remember, the interior and exterior colors should complement each other. Being able to see the interior and the exterior at the same time is one feature that makes dollhouses unique. You wouldn't want one to take away from the other because the paint schemes clash. The paint chips at your local paint store will often show innovative and creative complementary color schemes. Use these for ideas. Additionally, many tools online will help you choose complimentary colors. You may be surprised to see the wide range of creative possibilities that are available to you.

If you are trying to re-create a historical building, then you will need to make sure that the doll house paint that you select is realistic. Do a little research to find out what colors may have been popular on period pieces. For exact replicas, you may want to head to the library to see if you can find photos or painting of the building that you are replicating. Either way, painted dollhouses are a great way to re-create the past. Not only are they fun to build, but they can be great teaching tools in an educational setting.

If you are creating an original structure, then feel free to be creative in choosing the doll house paint that you want to use. Don't be afraid to express yourself. Original pieces provide a template for you to utilize your full creative ability. Use whatever scheme you think looks good. Remember, painted dollhouses say as much about the creator as they do about the art form.

Giving away painted dollhouses as a gift requires a little consideration when creating the color scheme. Ask yourself several questions when you are trying to decide which colors of doll house paint to use. Where will the dollhouse live? Will it be a nice addition to that room? Will it stick out like a sore thumb? How will the dollhouse be used? You will want to be careful about the kind of doll house paint that you are using if you think the doll house will be played with. Durability becomes an important feature. If the house is strictly going to be a showpiece, then you can feel free to use more delicate colors and finishes without worrying about the paint scheme showing wear. <bio>Learn more about the fascinating world of miniatures.
Is your furniture looking a little tired? Are the colors drab?

Do your walls look sterile? Don't take a trip to the furniture store just yet! Add some spice to your home using picture frames. Picture frames are a great way to add color and variety to a living area that has a monotonous feel to it. Add some pizzazz by adding exotically designed frames or unique, non-traditional frames. Not only do the frames enhance the photo, but they'll also bring out the best in your home.

Decide which picture frame colors are right for your home. We're not after changing your entire color scheme; just adding to what you already have. One important thing to note is that colors are known to evoke certain moods. Red is a color known for passion and energy. If you want to create an aura of excitement, choose red. This color is also eye-catching and grabs the viewer's attention. Blue toned colors are known to evoke a calm, serene effect. These colors are more passive and they have a tendency to sink into their background. Neutral colors are used to offset bolder colors in use. These colors also have a tendency to pick up a tinge of the bold colors they are close to. Yellow highlights are great for brightening a room. They generally communicate a joyful, happy atmosphere. Liven up the mood in your home by adding splashes of color.

Use contrasting colored picture frames in the areas you want to accent. For example, use a bold multi-colored picture frame in a room filled with neutral colors. The deep rich colors will complement nicely with the neutral tones already present. The color splashes will draw the eyes to the frame and stand out. If you have a room already filled with colors, tone it down by using light, neutral colored frames like bamboo wood. The lightly colored frames will accent your picture without competing with the furniture for color.

Are multi-colored frames right for you? That depends on the contents of your frame and the room style you are after.

There are many elegant and trendy frames containing two or even three colors. Be careful however, to not let the frame compete with the colors of your photo. Some photos just plain get lost in the color scheme of the frame. You decide what works best for you. Still, there are multicolored frames that work. Children's rooms are great for rainbow colored frames and they also add a cheery touch to the room. In a pastel colored room like the bathroom, a deeper richer hue of the same color on the frame brings the right attention to your picture. Just ensure that the picture frame colors blend with the present color scheme of your room and photo.

Color adds a distinctive touch to your home d=E9cor. Use it to bring attention to your wall hanging or bring out the deeper colors of your furniture. With some creativity, colors can warm up a room as well as cool it down. Colors can be used in a multitude of ways to add life to your home. Let picture frames help you with coloring your home! <bio>Kathy Page and her daughter, Casey, operate http://www.greatpictureframes.com which provides an opportunity to find unusual picture frames and photo albums that express your creativity and style. Whether you want to choose a superhero theme or if you have a little girl who only wants an angel theme, there is bedding out there to suit your kid's needs, you just have to shop around.

When it comes to choosing kids' bedding you may want to get just a blanket or a comforter or it might be that you are after a full set. It is best to look at quite a lot of different types of the bedding and then you can see which is the best suited to your kids room, as well as which bedding is of a higher standard.

If you have a certain color scheme in the bedroom, you may want to get bedding that helps to keep the overall look.
Sometimes you have to choose the flooring for a home before the home is decorated: how to go about this. Choosing different kinds of flooring to go with your decor.

Usually, the color of the floors is chosen after the color of the walls is chosen. However, in many expensive houses, where beautiful custom designed flooring such as tile, marble and parquet is installed, the flooring material is an integral part of the original architectural design, frequently requiring that the color choice of these expensive materials be made early in the design process. There may be some room for flexibility; for example, elaborate mosaic floors are used in limited areas and wood floorings are in natural colors that blend with any color scheme. Natural wood floorings even from the lightest to the darkest can blend with most color schemes and because of their tone become almost neutral with a strong color scheme. Some may even consider this a negative feature of wood flooring, since flooring can be considered such a strong feature of a room, combining the appearance of strength with the ability to blend into the background.

This is what makes the choice of flooring one of the most difficult in decorating a house. This may also explain why rooms that are decorated in lighter colors work better with hardwood flooring than rooms decorated in darker colors. A well installed wood floor should never be covered with another material; wood floors are clean, easy to care for, a good value and can complement almost any decorating theme. Yet, its very unobtrusiveness usually requires some additional treatment to give it some drama and carry through a certain style. The best solution is a combination solution. that is. cover the flooring with a rug that reflects the decorating scheme of the room but. at the same time leaves enough of the beautiful natural feature of the wood flooring showing through. A few smaller rugs might achieve the same effect, depending on the size of the room and the placement of the furniture in the room. The main idea is to make sure that the colors and decorating theme of the room is carried throughout on the floors, walls and furniture. If the room is very large. or the decorating theme requires a more luxuriant feel to it, more of the wood floor area will have to be covered. Bare wood floors convey a minimalist feel, so a room that is decorated in a luxurious style would need more of the wood covered.

The design and colors of the rug or rugs must complement the scheme of the entire room, but once that requirement is met, a great deal of variety can be added to the design without ruining the overall result. <bio>Andrew Caxton loves writing for http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com .
Adding the autumnal warmth to a room can mark the change in seasons for the entire family, ushering in football, holidays, and cups of cocoa after school. And it can be easy, dramatic, and inexpensive! Follow these three simple steps to take any (or every!) room in your home from summer simple, to fall fabulous in just one day!

Step One- Add rich, warm color! Whatever your main wall color is in your room, paint your focal wall a deep shade of that color. No major color scheme change here, everything you already have in that room will still work because you are just amping up the present color scheme. For instance, if your walls are a pale peach, paint your focal wall a rich terra cotta. Light sage? Paint that focal wall a deep warm green. Just have white walls? Here is your chance to develop a color scheme and bring a lot of warmth into your room. Pick any one color you love, plus white, and you have a color scheme! Still love your white walls? Then paint the focal wall a rich cream, or even a chocolate brown. Remember, its just paint, and you can always paint it back in an afternoon with a cheap can of paint!

Step Two- Change out a few of your accessories... pick up a couple of candles in your new rich focal wall color and set them out on a pretty plate, or add just one throw pillow to the couch and chair in that color. Pick up some ribbon in that hue and use it to tie back curtains, or wrap it around pillows a few times and tie with a pretty bow. Add a throw blanket from the linen closet draped over the easy chair, and a stack of books on the end table to read on a cool night. You don't need to go buy out the home section, just add a few quick touches to warm up the room.

Step Three_ Add nature! Nothing says the harvest season like displaying the fruits of natures bounty in your home. Set out a bowl full of nuts and nestle a candle in the middle, scatter pressed fall leaves over your mantel or coffee table, or tie branches into bundles, add some dried flowers and hang over doorways. Display fruits and veges on your kitchen counter or take the kids on a nature walk and fill a large clear jar with gifts from Mother Nature. (Always follow laws about collecting, however).

There you go, three quick steps and in one day you've created a room for your loved ones that breathes the comfort and cozyness of fall!

Kathy Wilson is an author, columnist, and editor of The Budget Decorator, Decorating Your Small Space, and Decorating Cottage Style.
Vintage retro decor is a very popular style. Choose the color scheme and accessories that coordinate with that scheme or pattern. Utilize yard sales to find vintage accessories for your room.

The kitchen seems to be the favorite place of most people for redecorating. Perhaps this is because of the kitchen's reputation for being the home's heart, and it is certainly the room where we spend a great many hours. For that reason, it's of importance for it to have a decorator style of its own.

Vintage retro style is one that is becoming quite popular and the addition of vintage d=E9cor to your kitchen can give it a real facelift as well as giving you an excuse to acquire some collectibles you can show to your guests.

Decorating Advice

When redecorating a room, you should take into consideration everything in the roomand#8212;wall color, flooring, window treatments, furniture and accessories. To allow your vintage d=E9cor to really stand out, you may want to add vintage tile to the walls or paint them in vintage colors. Some possible color combinations for the vintage decorating style include cream and green, red and white, or pink and blue. Some of the 1970s retro styles are also popular today, so you can choose to use a harvest gold or avocado and orange as your color scheme.

The window treatments you use can dramatically affect the look of your vintage d=E9cor. Using vintage curtains is one way of accentuating your vintage kitchen. It usually isn't difficult to find curtains from any time period for a reasonable price, but if you can't find something that coordinates or matches your vintage color scheme, try cutting up some vintage tablecloths or dish towels and make them into curtains.

How to Accessorize

The key to putting together your vintage d=E9cor look lies in the decorative items you choose. If you cannot replace everything, at least replace tablecloths, dishware, and canisters in colors and patterns that coordinate or match the vintage color scheme you have chosen.
