Overweight problem is the seemingly unstoppable growth all over the world, especially in the US.

More and more people nowadays are aware of what they should and shouldn't eat on an average day. It's no surprising that many companies from food industry has been taking advantage of this by come up with series of sugar free or low-fat foods, even chew gum. The soft drinks industry is a perfect example. These soft drink companies have been making billions selling sugar water for decades. Now they have to have the alternate diet version of their drinks to maintain the sales. Nowadays, many people rather drink no cola if they can't have a diet one. But there are many still drink the same old regular cola because it tastes better.

Coke Zero the new diet coke from the Coca-Cola Company is the answer for people who care about their health and can't live without Coke. This is surely a healthy choice for any diet plans and for many people who are trying to stop taking too much calories to lose more weight. Since, the increasing number of people who care about their health, it's not surprising that diet food such as Diet Zero Coke or Diet Pepsi Max are very successful. And the success of these diet drinks has proved that there are many consumers are interested in healthier food. Also this success taught that selling diet drinks at international level might not be as difficult as they thought.

The non-caffeine is another good thing about Diet Cola. Some experts know that most weight loss pills and all that diet chemicals on the market contain caffeine. Caffeine may help reduce your weight but the side effects are something that can't be avoided. It's true that caffeine gives us extra energy but it also comes with many drawbacks for our body such as dehydration and jittery stomachs. Plus it can give you one more option to put on weight by taking more sugar and cream, if you can't stand black coffee. In case you want to avoid caffeine, this is where caffeine can be found; coffee, tea, cocoa beans, and kola nuts.

Keep in mind that eating or drinking anything too much will harm your body in some ways. So, don't go out and buy dozens of diet cola or drink it 10 times a day just because it is a diet drink. As well as other diet food, it doesn't make you any thinner but it just doesn't interfere with your diet plan. It just lets you enjoy some of the unique cola taste without sugar with some other chemical ingredients you don't want to know about.

Sure, drinking Coke Zero or Pepsi Max instead of regular ones is a good idea but only if you are a cola drinker and can't live without it, more than that you should avoid drinking it at all. It's not good for your health. Also be aware of other food in your every life as well and exercise often on regular basis. Living a healthier life style is well worth it. Do it step-by-step or little by little. You don't have to force yourself doing all the diet plans at once, it's just going to put you off and you will end up stop doing the diet plan altogether which is a waste of times.<bio>You can find more information about how you can manage your weight more easily then visit PointReviews.com Top 10 Diet and Weight Loss Services</bio>

Islamic militants who have taken over in Mogadishu and dropped the dark veil of medievalism over the minds of the citizenry have branded Coca-Cola as un-Islamic.

A hard-line sheik has declared that Westerners are enemies of Islam and their products should not be consumed.

The man has followers. One, who owns a tea shop, said, andquot;Out of ignorance, I was selling and drinking Coca-Cola, but now I hate it so much.'

Pointing to various rules regarding beverages that grace the Koran, the militants point out that Mohammed states, andquot;There is only one beverage, and it's name is water.andquot; They maintain that, In another place, the Prophet notes, andquot;Things don't go better with Coke; it makes me burp.andquot; Finally, they say he reveals, andquot;The infidels invented Coke, and true believers never imitate the infidels, except when I took ideas from Moses and Jesus, but remember: I always gave them credit, or at least as much as I could stand to give them.andquot;

As a result, the one factory that represents a drop of modernity in the impoverished burg is in danger of being shut entirely. Sales are down markedly, because many of the citizenry believe in the soft-drink wisdom of their leaders.

Doubt exists as to the genuineness among some of the citizens of the new abhorrence for the drink. A recent convert commented, andquot;I think these backward thinkers are just the kind of people I want to follow. For me abstaining from Coke has nothing to do with the fact that they carry machine guns, and I don't own one.andquot;

There is also some forthright good news. A young man, age 31, is ignoring calls by religious leaders to stay away from it. andquot;I love Coca-Cola,andquot; he said, andquot;I drink it all the time. It's my favorite drink.andquot;

There was another bright spot in an otherwise dismal mindscape A consumer who considers it his favorite beverage said, andquot;I don't have suspicions about it. I don't think hostility can work in business. Business must be free from political and religious affairs.andquot;

His level-headed comment reminds us somewhat of the sign that used to be painted on the side of the IBM building in New York City, which managed to combine the economic basis of society with the urgent need for humans to find peaceful ways to conduct themselves. It said andquot;World peace through world trade.andquot; Nice idea. The more factories you build in another country, the less likely you are to bomb it. At least, one hopes. <bio>Tom Attea, humorist and creator of http://NewsLaugh.com, has had six shows produced Off-Broadway and has written comedy for TV.
The debate over whether diet soda is a dieter's friend or a dieter's enemy seems to become more heated every day.

One side is saying diet soda is a great beverage for people trying to lose weight and who want something more exciting to drink than water. The other side is saying diet soda won't help you lose weight but can actually make you gain weight.

I wish I could give you a definitive answer and say either, andquot;Yes, diet soda is fine to drink when you are trying to lose weight.andquot; Or andquot; No, diet soda will not help you lose weight.andquot; But I cannot find enough clear cut evidence to wholeheartedly support either statement.

What I have gleaned from my research is this:

Setting aside the issue of whether or not diet soda will aid or impede your weight loss is the issue of the chemicals it contains and whether or not you want to be ingesting them on a daily basis in significant quantities.

There's also the issue of diet soda that contains caffeine. If you are mainlining Diet Coke, you have most likely formed a dependency to caffeine which will cause a period of headaches, when (or if) you decide to break that dependency. Large amounts of caffeine can also disrupt your sleep, can make you jittery, and can speed up your heart rate.

Some people complain of fluid retention when drinking diet soda and blame the sodium content in the diet soda. Most diet sodas are very low in sodium. The culprit in fluid retention might be the artificial sweetener. Some recent research is showing that people react differently to artificial sweeteners, causing fluid retention in some people.

If you don't want to give up diet soda but it is making you retain fluid, try switching to a soda with a different artificial sweetener in it and see if that makes a difference. For example, if you are currently drinking diet soda sweetened with Aspartame, try switching to one sweetened with Splenda or saccharine (NutraSweet). Also try drinking no diet soda for a least a week.

Drinking diet soda does seem to make some people think they can have that candy bar (ever had a Diet Coke and a king size snickers bar?) because they are saving calories with the diet soda so the higher calorie food is okay. Likewise, some people will order a diet soda after super-sizing their fast food meal. Drinking diet soda lulls some people into thinking that switching out regular soda for diet soda means they can eat more food, but what usually happens instead is weight gain, which is then blamed on the diet soda.

Personally, I get cravings for salty foods when I drink a lot of diet soda. My physician thinks it's the artificial sweetener that's causing those cravings. So instead of drinking a 12 pack of diet Coke every day like I used to (yes, I'm being serious) I now try to have just one can of regular soda a day. I'm not always successful at doing that and sometimes drive to the store for an andquot;emergency 12 pack of Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi, or Diet Mountain Dew, but eliminating diet soda from my day-to-day diet has calmed my cravings.

So you'll have to make the judgment call for yourself on whether or not to include diet soda in your weight loss or weight management plan. Some people say diet soda helps them with weight management; others say it's a weight gaining tool. The only way to know for sure what it is for you is to try it and see. <bio>Dorrie Ruplinger is a featured writer for http://www.LoseWeightForChristmas.com.
Return on investment in marketing cannot be measured accurately.

Do you buy a Coke because it is on the billboard; because you saw the ad on television; because you saw the Coke truck; or because the Coke machine is convenient? Was it the ad this month or last? Or was it the ad you saw when you were 10? Or is it the fond memories you have of drinking Coke? Or the nice logo?

The answer is -- you probably don't know exactly why you buy the Coke at the particular time that you do. It is a combination of all these factors that make up marketing that cause the consumer to take action.

Marketing is the battle for perception. Good marketing can create the perception needed to cause purchasers to buy.

The only type of product that can have an instant return on investment in marketing is something that is truly commoditized. If you are selling water and there is no perception that your water is any different than anyone else's water, then if you do a marketing campaign or a promotion or a price reduction, you can shift share from a competitor. Most manufacturers should actually be spending their marketing dollars differentiating their product. It is much easier to sell "Clean Glacier" water over "bottled city" water if Clean Glacier can sell the refreshment and health benefits of their brand.

The only companies that should want to commoditize their markets are ones that are truly the lowest cost to produce (not to be confused with lowest price). To sell at the lowest price without the lowest cost is a recipe for failure.

There is a great book called Tipping Point, by Malcolm Gladwell, that talks about mavens (product experts) and connectors (natural networkers who spread the word). The thesis in the book is that getting products known by enough mavens and connectors can cause a product to "tip" and become pervasive and successful.

I sit on the board of Research in Motion (RIM). When RIM was first introducing their products, they spent most of their marketing budget on giving samples of their product to people they identified as mavens or connectors. Most stockbrokers qualified. Because the product worked well, they evangelized it and eventually that lead to more adoption and ultimate success.

A single influencer can persuade hundreds of customers to buy over a long period of time.

The purpose of marketing, then, can be to influence the influencers. Design any program with that in mind.

Marketing is also best done with multiple media. It is best to not only send a flyer but to telemarket, email, fax, press release, demonstrate products in trade show, advertise etc. The different messages reinforce each other and different people get different things from different media.

All marketing tends to be more effective if it is repeated often. It has been said that the first time a person sees something about the company, they don't see it; the second time, they are vaguely aware of it; the third time they look at it; the fourth time, they read it; the fifth time, they absorb; and the sixth time, they buy it. All marketing effects occur over time.

Because of the difficulty in measuring ROI, some companies will just stop marketing. This is great news for those that keep marketing. In time share will shift to those that continue to invest.

I am a time management person. I pride myself in using my time well. I even authored an eBook and audio CD on the topic. People ask me why I Blog and do I get a return on the time I spend blogging. I do know it has given me a higher profile. It has added to the traditional press I get (I have been written about in the Globe and Mail, Forbes Magazine and many computer trade journals like CRN). Can I measure the ROI? No -- but no long term company can measure ROI accurately. <bio>Jim Estill is the CEO of SYNNEX Canada.
One of the biggest weight loss myths is that you have to make huge changes in what you eat to get to your target weight.

Nothing can be further from the weight management truth!

Losing weight is about eating less than your current daily calorie requirements. So if you need 2,500 calories right now, you lose weight when you eat 2,000 calories instead. And all this requires is small, acceptable, everyday changes. Nothing drastic.

To prove this, we'll use a few real life examples. In each of these examples, we'll start with an everyday food item and replace it with a substitute that makes sense, so none of that: "Want Ice cream - Eat Carrots instead" stuff. We hope that these examples will show you how simple successful weight management really is =96 all it requires is a little bit of knowledge of what you're eating:

1. Fast Food:

A large Double Quarter Pounder Meal at McDonald's will equal 1,600 calories. Change this to a medium coke and small fries and you're down to 1,200 calories. Take it a step further and get an iced tea with your Double Quarter Pounder and Small Fries and you're down to 800 calories!

Now let's think about this: Is going from a large quarter pounder meal to a custom meal of iced tea, small fries and a quarter pounder, a huge change? We don't think so - Yet it's actually saving you 800 calories/meal!

You can also try a combination of a Subway Club Sandwich (at 320 Calories) and a Subway Mustard Ham and Egg Sandwich (at 310 calories). This delicious alternative will total 630 calories per meal.

2. Ice Cream:

3 cups of ice cream = 850 calories. Replace 1 cup with 1 container of Jell-O and you're down to 700 calories. Replace another cup with a banana and you're down to 525!

1 cup of ice cream + jell-o + a banana is a still delicious dessert (maybe better than the original) and yet it makes a huge difference.

3. Coke:

1 can of Coke = 150 calories. 1 can of Diet Coke + Lime = 0 calories. Adding Lime makes it taste great and gets rid of that aftertaste as well. Alternatively add lots of ice in your beverage and you end up drinking half the amount in calories.

4. Donuts:

1 Chocolate Donut = 250 calories, 1 Cream filled Donut = 350 calories. There is nothing wrong with eating donuts when managing your weight, simply make a better donut choice.

5. Pizza:

The average slice of a large pizza equals 225 calories. Simply go for the "thin crust" option, (and this is offered in just about every large pizza franchise) and you're decreasing 75-100 calories per slice!

We Hope We've Made a Point!

We simply can not go from a Large Big Mac meal to a diet of apples, broccoli and spinach to lose weight. It makes no real-life, practical sense and it's simply not going to be sustainable. Not to mention that it's absolutely unnecessary as well.

Getting to your ideal weight is all about making small changes that don't burden or completely change your everyday routine. We hope our examples have given you a few ideas for your daily life as well. <bio>Brian Abraham runs http://www.zlimmer.com, a website dedicated to simplifying weight management and keeping it completely free.
The soda machines provide an easy accessibility to junk for kids who enjoy splurging on it. Reports had shown that kids abuse this freedom of choice and end up drinking as many as 50 cans per month. Soda machines are always placed in the student cafeterias where invariably students have a lot of fun. Soda machines are synonymous with fun. However, these soda machines through their sheer availability to the kids pose extreme health risks to students.

Parents committees have organised and are trying to get elementary schools ban soda machines on their campuses. The soda machines pave the way to caffeine abuse and addiction for kids and obesity. The soda machines will slowly be replaced with health food snacks.

Soda machines can directly be linked to tooth decay, addiction to caffeine and gastro-digestive ailments and malfunction. Even in some under-developed countries like India, there is an open opposition towards soda machines where children have open and unsupervised access to them. Soda machines, in other words, are proving to be little drug addictive machines for kids.

On the other hand, they can be an enormous boon in offices, railway stations, bus stations, etc. Here the soda machines really can provide relief to weary travellers or simple pastime. There immense advantages to have soda machines installed in offices and public places where snack counters are not available. First because the soda machines give instant relief to thirst, secondly the mere presence of a machine is as relieving to a traveller as a cigarette to a smoker.

The same way as the soda machines can be real horror to a health-concerned parent, can be a real boon to a tired employee who does not have the strength to pull himself out of his office for a break or refreshment. And who can deny the power of refreshment a soda can give. Hence, the soda machines are good if placed in places where kids do not have direct unsupervised access to it. Not because children should not enjoy soda or a regular coke once in a while; but because kids tend to abuse the soda machines and ignores healthy food and nutrition to fill him or her with the coke obtained.

If used wisely, soda machines are the invention of the day. Like coffee machines, they are the best refreshment alternatives in offices and school campuses. There is nothing better to have in a cafeteria but a few good multi choice soda machines. It is amazing to see how well adults receive these and reports show an inversely proportional ratio of the number of the soda machines to the monotony of the jobs involved in a particular office. It seems that the more bored people are the more attracted they are to the soda machines. <bio>Peter Vermeeren is the owner and webmaster of: http://www.machine-and-tool.com - http://www.airsoftmania.es- http://www.kamikaze-portal.com </bio>

Yes, but...

No one complains about feeling happy! But we don't want to have other, painful feelings. When these feelings arise, one way to respond to them is to drink or drug. One set of painful feelings can be broadly labeled fear or anxiety: "Drugs and/or alcohol helped me cope with feelings like anxiety, tension, fear, stress, agitation, nervousness, vulnerability, intimidation, embarrassment and panic." Other painful feelings center around sadness and depression: "They helped me cope with feelings like depression, sadness, hurt, discouragement, grief, feeling defeated, feeling deprived or feeling abandoned."

There are many other painful feelings as well:

a) frustration, resentment, anger, annoyance, irritability and rage
b) feeling remorseful, ashamed, guilty, responsible, humiliated
c) feeling disgusted or shocked
d) feeling bored, apathetic or impatient
e) feeling over-excited, "amped up," "wired"
f) feeling exhausted or depleted
g) feeling lonely, isolated, cut off, alienated
h) feeling powerless
i) feeling "in pain" without being able to define the pain very well (perhaps a mixture of many painful feelings)

How well do drugs and alcohol work to cope with these painful feelings? For most of us, quite well! If you have had the experience of alcohol relaxing you, or coke giving you energy, or vicodin just helping you feel better, you don't need much explanation of these effects. For some, the drugs immediately create bad feelings more than they resolve them. Did you ever see anyone get paranoid after smoking pot or doing a line of coke? These folks aren't likely to turn to drugs (or at least that drug) for help dealing with bad feelings!

But if you are reading this article, you may be in the group that gets emotional relief from one or more drugs. Have you found yourself thinking:

"It helped me bring my feelings into a more normal range. They were just too out of control without it."

"I don't understand why, but I felt tremendous pain, and when I did this the pain was less."

"It helped me cope when I felt like I had nothing left inside of me."

So what is the problem with this? Maybe nothing, if you don't do it often or in large quantities. Did you ever overeat to cope with stress? That overeating isn't a big problem unless it becomes a pattern, a habit, a way of life.

The problems from drug use (or overeating) come from two factors: 1) by using you have not dealt with the problem directly (by delaying dealing with it you may have allowed it to get even worse), and 2) drug use is by itself becomes, sometimes quickly, a problem in many ways, including having a negative impact on how you fit you're your family and social group, your health, your emotional well-being, your financial security, your legal status, and other ways you are likely familiar with.

However, neither of these facts is guaranteed. Maybe delay will actually help. Maybe the drug you use, in the quantities and ways you do it, causes little harm (think "caffeine").

So, the only way to know if the drug use you engage in is worth the cost, is to list the benefits of using and the costs of using. Then think very hard about your lists. If you decide that the costs exceed the benefits, then it's time to make a change.<bio>A.
When trying to lose weight, it is highly recommended that you refrain from drinking alcohol. This reasoning is based both in the fact that alcohol has a high concentration of unhealthy sugars and empty calories as well as the knowledge that alcohol generally drives you compromise your habits, which might make you eat the wrong foods if they are available.

However, if you do wish to have a night cap, it is recommended that you drink alcohol in moderation and opt for a low-sugar red wine as opposed to a carbohydrate-dense beer.

Alcohol is generally consumed in social situations, such as at a meal or party. Generally, when drinking one glass, an additional glass or two are offered. Because you are in a social situation, it can be difficult to refrain from over-indulging, at least as far as the parameters of your diet are concerned.

If you do have a weight loss partner and are in a situation involving alcohol together, you two can share the responsibility of helping each other avoid unwanted glasses. Each additional alcoholic beverage boosts the number of calories you consume per day as well as the amount of sugar running through your blood stream.

Many people feel uncomfortable rejecting a drink in a social situation. They do not want to be party poopers by reminding friends of their diet or they do not want to seem to stiff in front of others. If you find yourself in a situation where it is tough to avoid consuming a beverage, then consider ordering a diet coke on ice. A diet coke has no calories or fat grams, but will come in a nice glass that will appear to be an alcoholic beverage.

If you must consume wine, then opt for a deep red wine. Red wines are wines that are generally lower in sugar than a white wine or a beer. Red wines are made keeping the skin of the grapes on, which also makes the wine more rich in minerals than the white wine counterpart, which is made from only the core of the grape.

Also keep in minds that beverages such as beer have yeast, fat and sugar. There is a reason that frequent beer drinkers develop a beer belly -- they consume vast amounts of beer but do not work it off right away.

Like fruit, it is also a good idea to consume wine when you are also eating a meal. The meal will help to regulate the spike in your blood sugar level so that your body is not shocked by the addition of new alcohol calories or sugars.

Keep in mind that while alcohol consumption might not be avoidable for you, the munchies and desire to consume high-fat and high-grease foods needs to be controlled. If you do find yourself in a situation where you have consumed too much wine, it is important for you to avoid tacking on additional calories from food. Moderation and education are the two keys to effective weight loss when it comes to wine consumption and the hunger that follows. <bio>Author : Joey Dweck is the Founder and CEO of http://WeightLossBuddy.com a website committed to 24/7 support, expert advice, and helping people find a buddy(s) who will support their effort to lose weight, and live a healthier lifestyle.
There is a science that deals with manifesting desires. Many people regard it as mystical or esoteric, but it's actually a science like physics or algebra.

There are certain immutable laws that govern the process of materializing wishes seemingly out of thin air, and once these laws are complied with, anyone can make their dreams a reality -- with absolute certainty.

Does this sound far-fetched?

A BBC Report suggests this about our subject ... (Courtesy of the BBC) Affirmations, Visualisations and Self-improvement: Where it gets interesting is when we move away from spiritual practice and look at the self-improvement movement which has become so popular in the 20th and 21st Centuries. Early writers within the self-help movement were Napoleon Hill and Dale Carnegie. The original focus was on development of character and moral qualities as a human being, and on material success and achievement. The techniques which worked were adapted by sports people, and there is a loosely symbiotic relationship today between people coaching success in sport, business and in personal contexts. The two techniques which became standards are daily affirmation, and visualization.

If so, I need you to suspend your disbelief until you hear the whole story because I assure you -- this will be positively electrifying.

Emile Coué, the 19th century French professor and Master Hypnotist, became a pioneer of affirmation techniques -- curing hundreds of patients in Europe and North America by teaching his patients to repeat the following affirmation each morning and evening:

"Every day, in every way, I'm getting better and better."

Using this affirmation alone, the healing results were nothing less than spectacular.

Affirmations have long been recognized as a powerful tool in manifesting desires. That's because the subconscious mind cannot differentiate between actual reality and suggestions. Therefore, it processes suggestions (or affirmations) as being real -- and goes about using its powerful creative ability -- and that of the nervous system -- to actualize those affirmations.

For this reason, people from all walks of life -- from athletic coaches, to sales professionals, to religious leaders, and peak performance experts (like Anthony Robbins) promote the practice of affirmations.

Subliminal Technology Puts Manifestation on "Steroids"

In the 1950s, an advertising expert named James Vicary, started testing subliminal advertising in movie theaters. He inserted subliminal frames containing the words, "EAT POPCORN" and "DRINK COKE" within the reels of film. During the movie, the subliminal messages went by so fast that the unsuspecting audience didn't consciously see the words, but their subconscious minds perceived the suggestions. As a result, Coke sales jumped 18.1% and popcorn sales skyrocketed by 57.7%.

Remember, there is no such thing as "luck" or "chance", when we are open and receptive what we need and what we need to know, comes to us in the perfect way and at the perfect time...

Goal setting software Subliminal advertising proved to be too powerful that it was eventually outlawed. But what if you could use the same technology to install empowering affirmations into your subconscious -- beneath the threshold of your conscious mind? Now, you can flash subliminal messages on your computer screen while you work! It's like advertising to your own subconscious mind and having your desires manifest at an unprecedented speed.

To read further about affirmation software, please visit the authors site at: http://www.GlobalTop5.com/affirmations.html<bio>Mr. P.
In this modern era of mass marketing, we are bombarded by electronic messages. After awhile, advertising and promotions all start to sound, feel and look the same. There was a time when the perfect combination of artistry, imagination and originality could be found in vintage metal and tin signs. Many of todays most recognizable brand names got their start as metal signs.

Products too numerous to mention have been promoted with a style and wit that today seems all too nostalgic. Vintage tin and metal signs were produced by the hundreds of thousands from the mid eighteen hundreds through the advent of television in the late nineteen forties. Most were painted or screen printed using enamel paint and many were given a porcelain overcoat to increase their durability. The irony of all this is that many vintage metal signs outlived the very companies and products they were meant to promote.

This is not say that metal signs have completely disappeared from the landscape. Highways signs, street signs and metal signs of kinds are still with us, though most serve a more utilitarian purpose. The golden age of vintage metal signs has been maintained through reproductions and the zeal of collectors to preserve a piece of advertising and artistic history.

Aging metal and tin signs that have begun to rust should never be refinished. Vintage metal signs that are in good condition are highly prized by collectors. A little rust may devalue the sign just a bit, but the nostalgic value is priceless. When buying any type of antique or collectible signs, the well informed collector must be able to know the difference between vintage metal signs and reproductions. The rule is always buyer beware.

Reproductions of famous metal signs can be found almost everywhere. Even though they are not true antiques, quality reproductions of metal and tin signs are a great way to accent the decorating theme of your home or business.

Many companies would provide merchants with durable metal and tin signs in order to promote their products. Among the most popular collectible signs are those that have anything to do with Coca Cola. Coke was able to create their brand by extensive promotion. From big cities to rural farming communities, merchants who offered Coke products for sale may have had several metal signs advertising that fact.

Manufacturers of tractors and other farm equipment produced metal signs that were often fixtures at general stores, Grange halls and feed stores all over the country. Companies such as John Deere, International Harvester and Ford produced many styles of metal signs. These farm equipment signs are favorites among collectors of items that reflect classic Americana.

The great outdoors and the sporting life are amply represented by a number of famous brand names. Metal signs from Winchester, Remington and other gun producers helped to create these now famous brand names. Much of the illustrative artwork used for this genre was produced by some of the best known artists and illustrators of the day. The combination of beauty nature illustrations and catchy slogans make metal depicting the growing market in sporting goods.

No discussion of vintage metal and tin signs is complete without looking at the automobile industry. The famous slogan used by the Packard Company, ask the man who owns one, was made popular in prints ads and was emblazoned on a variety of metal signs. Other early car manufacturers such as Studebaker, Desoto, Dodge and Ford produced metal signs that are clearly classics.

Whether advertising or just for decoration, metal and tin signs have a long history and provide us with a glimpse of the past. <bio>Mike O'Brien is a staff writer for the internet shopping site http://www.finewebstores.com.
Everyone's dream is to own their own home. After all, for many people, their home is a big part of their identity, and it's the primary method to communicate success and personality. Many people simply state that being a homeowner is an important goal of theirs.

However, purchasing a home isn't the same as buying a Coke. You simply can't empty the cash in your pocket in order to become the proud owner of your dream home. Because of the sheer amount of money needed to purchase a house, many people look to their local bank for a homeowner loan. The bank provides the loan, or mortgage, and the customers uses the loan to purchase the house.

And while banks have long been the established method of choice to secure the homeowner loan that you need, there are other options available as well. More and more financial or loan specialty service companies are making their niche in the homeowner loan market. While a homeowner loan company, such as Wizard Loan Approval, does provide the funds needed to purchase a house, they aren't necessarily like a bank.

What a homeowner loan service company does is establish working relationships with the banks. They'll locate the best homeowner loan for you based on your needs and then let you know what loans are available. The difference between using a homeowner loan company and a bank is that with the bank, you only have loans that the bank can provide. An organization like Wizard Loan Approval can offer a whole range of home loans and rates for you.

Your dream of getting that homeowner loan that's right for you and getting your dream house isn't solely dependent on banks anymore.
Just what is a copycat restaurant recipe? Copycat stole a rat ... remember that old saying. Well copycat recipes are not exactly stealing, but they could really keep restaurants wondering if they had suffered from industrial espionage.

Just about all of us have a favourite item on a restaurant menu. We have all wondered how they got that magnificent taste just right? What was inside? Have you ever tried writing to your favourite restaurant's head office and asking for the recipe to your favourite dish? Got a reply didn't you? If you did you are very lucky indeed! As restaurants are not in the habit of publishing their recipes we have to rely on a different source for our information.

As you can imagine if something tasty is on a menu, someone somewhere would have figured a way to copy it and create a "copycat restaurant recipe". There are people out there who are just marvellous at figuring out how to recreate their favourite restaurant item. These people are the copycat restaurant recipe creators. You could of course do it all yourself but why bother when someone else has already cracked the code so to speak.

Once somebody has cracked the secret of the restaurant recipe it starts to spread like wildfire especially in today's world, it being the age of information.
Summer is here! Are you prepared to be a sun-loving beauty? This checklist for Summer Preparation will give you a good start for swimsuit season.

Exercise -- Ladies, there's nowhere to hide it anymore. The big, bad cellulite fairy visited during the winter again. Or does cellulite reproduce when it's cold? Either way, get out your walking shoes and hit the streets. Or grab an exercise video and shake it until it melts off.

Pluck or wax those eyebrows. -- The bright sunlight will show every little straggler. There's nothing worse than looking like Bert in a bikini!

Swimsuit Shopping -- Although most women would rather have a root canal than to go swimsuit shopping, it is a necessary evil. If your options are to go swimsuit shopping or to run around the pool in a worn, baggy, see-through swimsuit -- please drag yourself to the store! I'll be the one hiding in the stall next to you, laughing as I try on yet another swimsuit over my undergarments and try to figure out exactly what I'm looking at.

Body Hair -- Let's face it. Winter is not the time we are most diligent about keeping up with shaving. If you're dreading another year of shaving, there are many more options these days to choose from -- from home waxing kits to laser hair removal.

Feet -- Eew! Those scratchy, rough, lizardy-feet need to go away now. Buff them or grab a power sander, but get them looking like skin again before sandal season. Once you've got people-feet instead of hobbit-feet, then dust off a bottle of toenail polish, grab a toe-ring, and make them pretty.

Now you're ready for swimsuit season. Grab a little drink umbrella, drop it into your diet Coke and enjoy your summer, as the sun goddess that you are! <bio>Nicole Dean is the mostly-sane mom behind http://www.romanceyourhusband.com/ -- 'til death do us part is a loooooooong time.
If you're struggling with methods and techniques to help you become more competitive and bring more revenue to your bottom line, consider doing something that almost nobody would do - ask your competitors for help. Now obviously this is a tricky road, after all do you think Coke has conversations with Pepsi on how they can market their products more effectively? I'm thinking no. In actuality, if take a look around at the market in your business, are their more successful competitors doing it better than you?

Depending on your industry it might be more conducive to outright ask a competitor how they market their business. Take for example a doctor. Doctors typically don't look at their profession from a business perspective, consequently they are a very tight-knit group. They have different specialties that can actually help each other through referrals. Additionally, even though they might want more business, they are only one person so they might refer a patient to a "competitor" because somebody might need help quickly.

If your business isn't designed where others in your line of work can directly benefit you, try seeking out the successful business people in different geographic areas. If you're in Kansas and you see a business in your line of work that is successful but their region of focus is New York, a call to the owner of that business introducing yourself to them to ask for their help may be more accepted than you might think. People like being asked for help and successful business people like to talk about their successes and especially themselves. If you attend trade shows or seminars, that is an excellent opportunity to "spread your wings". Give it a try.

You might be surprised that this unconventional approach may prove to be successful. What about other "ridiculous" methods you can use to help you gain an edge? How can a chicken farmer teach you about inventory control? Can a used car salesman teach you something about marketing? Or how about dispensing with conventional wisdom about ANYTHING and taking a risk by doing it differently. C'mon - No risk, no reward. <bio>Benny Carreon , former member of the daily grind risked all to pursue his dream of financial independence.

He hit the ground fast and fell flat on his face. With lessons learned, he now enjoys huge success running his companies from his home office, with his wife and son. http://www.bennycarreon.com </bio>

There are literally thousands of mortgage brokers out there today. Multiply that by the number that you can find on the Internet, and you will be sure to spend many long hours in front of your computer sifting through them. So, with all the hits that you will get when you search for 'mortgage brokers' online, how do you pick one that is right for you and a good company to work with? Here are some ideas to help you out:

1. When searching, try to narrow your search as much as possible. If you are looking for a 30-year, fixed rate, second mortgage for example, put that in the search. This will help you to sort out those companies who do not offer the service that you need. You will immediately get results of companies who do these types of loans and mortgages, so you can start at a smaller place than getting swamped with millions of hits.

2. When looking through the company's site, go to the 'about us' page first. While you might be tempted to look at their services and such, find out about the company before you fill out any forms or offer up any personal information. Some online companies aren't allowed to provide mortgages for certain states, or they might not be a real company at all, so you are better to find out about them before you give out personal information to someone.

3. While filling out the form, make sure that you check the box or fill in the line that requests a broker to contact you. This will help you to get a one-on-one, personalized service and allow you to ask questions that aren't on the form or find out information that wasn't covered on their site.

4. When talking to the broker, make sure to ask every question that you can think of so you are completely comfortable with the broker and the company. If you feel the least bit apprehensive, you should move on to another company.

Basically, just remember to trust your gut feelings when dealing with a mortgage broker. There are so many out there that are great companies, and it really doesn't take much to find one, you just need to do a little searching to find one online. So, fire up your computer, grab a coke, and start typing away. You are sure to come up with a list of companies that you are completely comfortable with and have that new mortgage secured in no time! <bio>Connie Barker is the owner of several financial websites including http://www.loan-providers.com </bio>

It's not what we think, it's what the consumer thinks.andquot;

Add to that, andquot;It's not what WE say about a product, it's what the consumer says about it.andquot;

What consumer would go to GNC and ask, andquot;Do you have any patented, scientifically proven nutraceuticals?andquot; You get the idea.

What would you say about your product if you were talking to a 13 year old, or to your favorite aunt or grandmother? After all, if maintaining your ideal weight was easy, you would already be doing it, wouldn't you? However, there are things that you can do to cut back the calories without making yourself suffer. Here are three easy weight loss tips to make the pounds melt away.

How Many Calories Are You Drinking?

Many people think that they have to starve themselves to lose weight =96 but they completely overlook how many calories they are consuming in their drinks. Did you know that a single can of Coke holds 139 calories? By just drinking one can fewer a day, you can lose more than a pound every 10 days without eating differently at all. Replace high-calorie drinks with sugar-free iced tea or flavored water.

Eat Large Helpings of Low-Cal Foods First

When you are hungry, it's easy to overeat. So before you dig into a meal, look over what's available and start with the lowest-calorie offerings first. Drink a large glass of water before starting, then have a nice, big helping of salad. Next, eat your healthy vegetables, and start on the higher calorie meats, potatoes, and rice only at the end of your meal. You'll be satisfied with a smaller portion of the food that will pack on the pounds.

Ask for a Doggy Bag before You Start

Restaurants are traps for many dieters because of the large portion sizes and the tendency to want to finish your plate. Before you start eating an oversized portion, ask for a doggy bag and pack half of your meal away for later. You'll have something yummy to eat the next day, and you won't be tempted to go overboard.

If you stay mindful of what you are eating and plan your meals well, you might be surprised by how much weight you can lose without feeling hungry or deprived. These three easy weight loss tips should get you started losing weight while staying healthy. <bio>Check out 21 more ways to lose weight at http://learnaboutweightloss.com/index.php/2007/06/06/21-sure-fire-ways-to-l= ose-weight </bio>

Typically, a crucible is defined as a container in which metals are melted, usually at temperatures above 550 C. These crucibles are typically made of graphite with clay as a binder material. These crucibles are extremely durable and resist temperatures to over 1650 C. A crucible is lowered into a furnace and, after the melting; the liquid metal is removed from the furnace and slowly poured into the mold. Some old steel making furnaces (usually electrically powered) had an embedded crucible and was tilted as the metal was poured out.

Crucibles are also called pots, and used for melting small amounts of various materials, but more particularly for the manufacture of crucible general steel, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdikZ-Th5Hw. For this industry crucibles are made of a high quality of clay mixed with a little powdered coke (clay crucible or white pot), or of a mixture of clay and graphite (graphite, plumbago, or blacklead crucible).

Graphite crucibles can be made to contain a heavier charge, and also last a greater number of heats. They are made of a mixture of Ceylon graphite, German clay and pure sand, the final composition being approximately: The clay is dried, ground, made into a paste with water, and the sand and graphite thoroughly mixed in, after which the mass is allowed to remain for a few days in a damp place to season or temper, i.e., be in a better condition for working. The amount of crucible material prepared at one time is called a batch. A lump of the proper size is cut off, kneaded slightly to insure its uniformity, and put inside a mold which is placed on a potter's wheel, and the mass spun up (by revolving the wheel) to fill the mold. The proper thickness of the wall is obtained by means of an arm or profile iron which descends and shapes the inside of the crucible. The excess at the top of the mold is sliced off and the mold removed. Spinning up gives better results than simple pressing because it causes the flakes or plates (in which natural graphite occurs) to take a tangential direction and intermesh, thereby binding the material together.

Artificial graphite is rarely if ever used, as it does not occur in these plates. The crucibles are now dried, first for about 24 hours, at about 20 to 25 C. (70 to 80 F.), after which they are smoothed up; and then for about three weeks at a temperature high enough to drive off the hygroscopic moisture. They are then heated (annealed or burned) in an oven (annealing oven) for about three days at a temperature of about 825 C. (2500 F.) to drive off all the combined water. The crucibles are stacked up in a number of tiers, and, as they are still very tender, they are placed in loose-fitting clay molds (seggars or saggars) which keep them from being crushed, and also prevent excessive oxidation. When crucibles of different sizes are being made they are usually nested, i.e., the smaller are placed inside the larger. The slight oxidation of carbon on the surface, which always occurs, gives the crucibles, originally black, a brownish color (the color of the clay). The covers are made and treated in a similar manner.

Clay crucibles were chiefly in England, and are manufactured from a high grade of fireclay (Burton, Stourbridge, etc.), usually mixed with about 5% of good ground coke. The mixing is done very carefully, frequently by treading the mass with the bare feet on the treading floor. A lump is then placed in a flask or mold, and a plunger having the shape of the interior is forced down, being centered by a pin passing through a hole in the bottom. The flask is removed and the top of the crucible forced inward, by means of another conical mold, to give it a shape like a barrel. After drying for a few days in the pot house (where they are made), the crucibles are further dried at a somewhat higher temperature near the flues of the melting furnaces. The hole left in the bottom is closed when the crucible is set in the furnace for use by throwing in a little sand which frits the crucible to the clay stand on which it rests.

These processes have not been used in the United States since before World War II. The modern general steel making processes is highly computerized and fields an army of robotic machinery.<bio>Sarah Martin is a freelance marketing writer based out of San Diego, CA.
The Joe in question isn't me. It's a good friend of mine.

Born in squalor, raised in need, and oppressed by his neighbors, he fought tooth and nail to survive the slums, enter a good university- and now, runs a multitude of companies.

These aren't your run of the mill single proprietorships. These are mid scale corporations with 100 to 500 dedicated employees. Each one radiates the zest he does.

We had a long talk over Coke Light last night (yep, beer's no good for powerhouses) and I discovered we both lived by similar principles. These tenets helped us survive the tumult of life:

- You can't be everything to everybody

- Don't waste time befriending mad dogs.

- Admit there is no perfection, but strive for it nonetheless.

- Never underestimate the delight of real simplicity in lifestyle.

- Avoid unecessary complications.

- Consider first what is worth fighting for.

- Focus your mind on the pleasant aspects of life.

- Concentrate on things that can enhance your situation.

- Forget what is irrevocably painful or ugly.

- Frustration paralyzes efficiency. Ditch it.

- When you feel like a loser, look back at all those shining moments. There's no such thing as a loser.

- Never procrastinate- cut through the chase and get things done. Or you'll suffer tomorrow.

- Realize that men aren't created equal. That's a fact. But we all deserve equal opportunities.

- There will always be leaders and followers.
