Coin counters are machines, sometimes manual, sometimes battery operated and sometimes electrical which sort, count and sometimes wrap hard currency. Coin counters are useful at home for sorting loose change into bankable money.

Home currency coin counters

If you traditionally are a coin saver, maybe emptying your change pocket into a jar or bank, or even a box or larger container, you know that the coins become very heavy. They are too heavy to be carried around in a purse or pocketbook, yet the coins still have value. They can be a wonderful emergency fund for those last minute Christmas or birthday gifts when the credit cards are maxed out. If you have always hated the process of sorting, counting and wrapping the money which you have collected, a coin counter/sorter may be just the tool to make your shopping easier. Unless you are a coin collector and have special display boxes for unique or valuable coins, most change jar coins are a mixtures of nickels, dimes, quarters and pennies.

If you grab a handful of the change and put it into the hopper and turn on the coin sorter counter, you will soon have a collection of neatly sorted, counted and wrapped coin sleeves ready to take to the nearest bank or merchant. Another good use of the coin counter at home is to teach your child the value of saving. They will have the fun of putting coins into battery operated coin counters and saving toward a goal. For less expense, you may want to search for used coin counters. They are just as dependable as the new ones, although they may not include some of the more innovative technology available in the later models.

Commercial currency coin counters

Any time you have a business which garners a lot of coins; a coin counter sorter is a helpful tool to save you time and money. For instance, if you have a vending route with coin operated machines, it is helpful to drop the quarters into the coin counter and finish out your day with correctly wrapped and counted sleeve of coins. Of course, if coins other than quarters are required, such as in some older Laundromats, you may prefer a coin sorter counter. As its name indicates, the coin counter sorter will separate the dimes from the quarters, wrap each and provide you with the total dollars and cents collected by category.

Portable coin counters

Portable coin counters, usually means battery operated coin counters. They are useful in all the places where an electric coin counter would be, but in addition, they can be transported out on your vending machine route or to the local flea market booth where you sell your goods.

Think about a gift of a coin counter for a child's birthday gift, along with a few coins to get them started and you may help them develop good savings habits through out their lifetime.

A gift of a coin counter/sorter makes a thoughtful and useful tribute when a friend is opening a new business. They will remember you each time they use the coin sorter. If your budget won't handle a new electronic sorter, find a good quality used coin counter. <bio>Samantha Clark heads consumer reviews at http://www.dealsdepot.com.au One of the web's most popular Online Shopping sites. </bio>

Speaking literally, every coin collector can have all the essential information in the universe from the handbook.

For the success of this leisure type activity, it is a must for every coin collector to have coin collecting books as they give them all the basic information that they need.

Experts in coin collections also advise that before buying any coin, the "newbie" in coin collecting should buy a book and then buy a coin. They should avoid indulging in "Finder's keepers" type of game. It is not merely an activity to be engaged in. The main argument behind this idea is that coin collecting is not that type of activity where coin collectors can collect any coin they see. For a proper collection of coins, it is important for the coin collectors to know the basics of coin collecting and categorize the coins, which are suitable for compilation accordingly.

Some coins that people find worthless may actually be exceptional and priceless, while some coins are worthless collecting. Coin collecting books gives these types of information, which otherwise would not be available to a coin collector.

Here is a list of the things that should to be considered while buying such books. It is for people who have no idea where they can find one:

1. Historical accounts of the coins must be given

You should always buy those kinds of coin collecting books that give you historical viewpoint of the kind of the coin you intend to collect. For example, while collecting U.S. coins, its history should be present in the book you are buying.

2. The book must have logical guidelines for "grading" coins

Information about the proper skills needed while "grading" coins is essential for every coin collector. Thus the book must have such information. For the success of coin collecting and continuity of it, every coin collector must learn the skill of grading.

3. The books must contain information about coins in a broad viewpoint

Discussions about different kinds of coins in the world are a "must have" for every coin-collecting book. For those coin collectors who do not have particular country in mind, such information is very useful for them.

History discloses that man's greatest companion has always been books. Coin collecting books just don't act as a collector's friend, but they are also treated as treasures in their own way. <bio>Mohammed Shomam is involved with an online coin collecting project that informs and educates the coin collecting enthusiast through well-written articles.
There are many terms used in coin collecting. Information on coin collecting terms is widely available on the internet and in many books that deal with coin collecting. The field of coin collecting is so expansive that there are numerous terms that are coined. Many internet sites offer glossaries and other resources to assist the novice coin collector in increasing there knowledge base. These sites may not contain all the terms but are sufficient to be an introduction to the field and its terms.

Coin collecting terms are found in many books authored by coin collector experts. In addition to guidance on terminology these books also provide valuable information on the do and don'ts of coin collecting. There are many books on the market that also target the veteran coin collector as this hobby continues to grow and there is always new information that can be valuable to these individuals.

Another way to learn about coin collecting terms is by the use of the many magazines available on this field. There are several others as well that offer great features that include up to date guides on prices as well as discounts for subscribers on coin collecting supplies.

Another way to familiarize one's self with coin collecting terms is to associate with clubs or associations that are involved in the hobby of coin collecting. Coin collecting terms are not a short list by any means and will indeed take a long time to become totally familiar with. Even experts in the field may not know all the terms and acronyms that are associated with coin collecting.

Some of the most important coin collecting terms are related to the very basic concepts of coin collecting. One of these is in fact the term for coin collecting itself. This term is numismatist and is the complex term for the coin collector. Another set of basic terms are those that relate to the description of the sides of a coin. Most people refer to these as either heads or tails but serious collectors call these the obverse and the reverse. Terms associated with the actual coin are the legend, inscription, rim and field as well as the motto, mint mark, edge, portrait, date and many other terms related to coin anatomy. <bio>Coins and Coin Collecting http://www.coinsandcoincollecting.com/ Your guide to getting the very best from your coin collection. </bio>

In this fast paced world, where people are running out of time, a laundry service offers the best service by saving precious time of their customers. The success of commercial laundry services is evident from the increasing customer base and the volume they are able to handle in a day, thanks to the latest commercial laundry equipments. But, this successful business can turn out to be unprofitable if things are not planned in proper order.

In this business, one of the most important factors to consider is the choice of commercial laundry equipments which can play a deciding role in the operations. The key equipments required for any laundry service is the coin operated laundry and commercial home-style washers, dryers and stacked dryers which can be also used for apartments, residence halls, military installations and senior housing.

The correct choice of these laundry equipments along with proper layout and operations plan can make you ride with the profits that are increasing everyday with this business.

If you are planning to start with a new laundry service, apart from the commercial equipments you will need to consider the floor plan which deals with the order and placement of various laundry equipments. In this case, most of the equipment distributors will help you as they have dealt with a wide variety of floor plan layouts.

You can consider the suggestions about what the right equipment mix will be for your particular layout. This is quite essential as nowadays, floor space is costlier than before and having a good layout can save you some valuable space.

In this way you need to effectively maximize your usable space. One of the suggestions for utilizing valuable space is going in for a stack dryer as it this is more like putting two machines in the place of one. Doing this will help you to free up space for other equipments like additional washers, snack vending machines, change machines, play areas, etc.

A proper mix of machines allows more efficient flow of traffic between machines, providing a direct match for the larger washer extractors. Also, easy access to machines is critical, and so is the availability of laundry carts and folding tables. This is necessary as a comfortable customer experience builds customer loyalty.

Now, moving on to these laundry equipments you need to purchase, we find that the commercial dryer is an important purchase to go in for. Here are a few considerations you should adhere to while making the buying decision.

While buying the dryer, consider the heat source as the gas heated machine will produce at a more efficient rate compared to a steam model. This is so as it costs more to produce steam that heats a steam coil in order to heat the air. This process is what ultimately dries that laundry.

On the contrary, a gas machine directly fires up with a heat source that heats the air. Also consider the machine configuration as it plays a crucial role in the flow of a laundry. Generally a single door or two-door pass through style machine is appropriate as it covers all the requirements. Also consider the price and additional features which play a crucial role in the decision making. <bio>Find the best http://www.laundry-equipment.net commercial laundry equipment possible from Laundry-equipment.net.
One of the most enjoyable parts of coin collecting is learning about coin values. After all, as enjoyable as coin collecting is on its own, seeing the investment potential of a coin collection is also enjoyable. Besides, when you can see your coins increase in value, it makes your hobby feel functional. And, when you can see how many coins your current coins are worth, it is a self-expanding hobby. However, to enjoy this aspect of coin collecting, you are going to need a way to look up coin values.

One of the best places to go for coin values is to a coin dealer. These people are experts in their field and they are likely to stay abreast of prices, auctions, information and news related to coin collecting. And, because they are probably coin collectors themselves, you can sit down with them and discuss coins and how you can improve your collection. And, because dealers buy and sell coins, they can help you sell your coins if and when you want to sell portions of your collection; by either buying the coins directly or connecting you to other buyers they are familiar with.

Another method for determining coin values is through coin blue books. There are several books out there that contain complete lists of almost every coin ever struck and their current values. These books come out every year and they list the market value of coins by year, minting location and condition, as well as any other pertinent information that may affect market value. However, their information is fixed once they are published and, in some cases, the information is already out of date by the time the book hits the stands. But they will, at the very least, give a good idea of how much your coins are worth.

The Internet is also a very good source of information, thanks to several sites that offer lists of coin values. Many of the sites are very up-to-date and stay close to new developments, though it depends on the particular site. Unfortunately, since many things on the Internet are not always reliable, it is best to check a few sites in order to ensure that the information is correct. By looking at a few different sites, you can get averages of several sources and avoid getting bad information from one site that is neglecting to update.

Of course, coin values are not just arbitrary numbers. In fact, the value of a coin is actually the amount that someone would expect to receive upon selling a coin. Which means that it is, essentially, how much someone should be willing to pay for a given coin. So, if you want to figure out what a coin is worth, you should see what people are paying for it. With all the auction sites and coin sale sites out there, you can find the information you need just by researching what other people are asking or paying for a particular coin.

Finding coin values takes a little effort and diligence, but it is certainly worthwhile. It allows you to find out what your collection has been doing for you and it lets you determine how well you have chosen the coins that have gone into your collection. And that has a lot to do with the fact that coin values also determine how many other people want exactly what you have sitting in front of you. <bio>Coins and Coin Collecting, http://www.coinsandcoincollecting.com Your guide to getting the very best from your coin collection. </bio>

If you are a coin collector, you should be happy to know that coin collecting is easier today than ever. Before the advent of the internet, for example, coin collectors had to travel far and wide to meet with other collectors. They had to go to coin collecting shows and, depending on how serious of a collector you were, coin collecting was a member's exclusive club. Today, coin collecting has become much easier and more widespread thanks to internet auction sites such as Ebay. All you have to do is search Ebay coin auctions to obtain those hard to get coins, rare coins, foreign coins, or whatever else you collect. You can browse coins in the comfort of home and you can have the coins delivered right to you.

What You Need

In order to search Ebay coin auctions, all you need is a computer and an internet connection. There are many coin collectors out there who love to show their collections off on the internet and you can even bid on these rare coins, just as you would at a real coin auction. The only difference is that you never have to leave your house.

In order to show off your own collection, and to offer your rare coins to other collectors, you will need to set up an Ebay account. You don't need an account to search Ebay coin auctions, but you will need an account if you hope to auction off your own coins. To create an account, simply follow the directions given to you by the Ebay website. Your payments will go through a website called Paypal, or you can set it up using a credit card. Ebay will take a small percentage of whatever you get for you coins, but it's a small price to pay for the exposure. Think of all the people who will search Ebay coin auctions and think of all the people that will see the coins you're offering.

To set up your own coin auction, simply take a picture of whatever coin you are looking to auction off. Then, write a short description of the coin. This is what others will see when they search Ebay coin auctions. You can set a starting bid price and then see where it goes. You also have the option of setting up a time limit on your bid. Just make sure that you are happy with the limits you set because once the bid is over, that's the price you're going to get.

If you are a collector and you're not too keen on leaving your house to do your collecting, just search Ebay coin auctions to find those rare and unique coins, or post your own to help someone build their collection. Thanks to Ebay, coin collecting has never been easier. <bio>Rudy Dhondt is the webmaster of the website http://Coins-Collection.com : search ebay coin auctions at http://www.coins-collection.com Get a free report : 'Coin Collecting, Hobby of Kings + coin collecting on ebay' at http://www.coins-collection.com </bio>

Coin collectors from every corner of the globe have, at one time or another, come across a certain coin and wonder whether what they have in their possession is something of enormous value or just a piece of junk. It is important that, as a coin collector, you learn about the key factors that determine, or at least influence, coins value in order to be guided in your quest to find treasures of yore. There's more to a coin than its face value, and of course, just because a coin does not carry significant monetary value does not mean you should not covet it to form part of your precious coin collection.

There are basically five factors that determine or influence the value of a particular coin. These primary factors are the coin's rarity or scarcity these days, its bullion value, the demand for it among collectors today, its grade or condition, and its quality. Keep reading to find more about each of these primary factors and be enlightened about coin value estimation.

Obviously, coins value is greatly factored out by its rarity or scarcity -- this is the cause of great joy and pride in a coin collector. The general rule is, the more rare a coin, the higher its value. There are some coin collectors that continue to be misled by what rarity or scarcity means. The age of a coin or when it was minted and distributed have nothing to do with its rarity or scarcity. If there are only a few, maybe even just one or two, coins around like the one you have in your hands (today, not during the period of its circulation), then your coin is no doubt rare or scarce and definitely priceless.

The bullion value of a coin is determined by the value of the precious metal it contains. In general, gold coins, silver coins, or platinum coins do not sell at a price below their melt value. A coin expert can help you with this.
If many coin collectors want the coin in your possession, then you can count on your coin to have high value. Coins value is influenced greatly by the demand or clamor for such coins.

Rarity or scarcity and demand are independent factors. This means that, while a coin may be rare, not many coin collectors are sure to prefer it over other coins that are relatively plentiful. For example, more coin collectors look out for early twentieth-century mercury dimes than other dimes from other periods. A dime from the eighteenth century, while rarer, thus has less demand. The total value of a coin will depend on all the factors taken into consideration, not just one or two of them; rarity or scarcity, demand, and the rest of the factors will be weighed together to get or estimate one coins value. However, some coin collectors have observed that coins in greater demand, while not so rare, value more than their rare counterparts.

Some coin collector have this notion that if a coin from centuries past were to be found, it has to be in bad shape in order to spark authenticity and command greater value.<bio>PART 2 - For part two of this article, head on to Coins Value where you can also find the best places to Sell Gold Coins.</bio>

Here are three simple coin tricks to add to your collection of magic. They don't take long to learn, they don't need many special props and with a bit of practice they can amuse and delight people wherever you go.

Coin Trick 1: Money Making Magic

Your hands are empty and there are three coins on the table. You sweep the coins off the edge of the table and into your hand. When you open your hand, there are five coins instead of three.

The Secret: Before you begin, stick two coins to the underside of the table at the edge where you plan to do the trick. When you sweep the coins off the table with your right hand, detach the other two coins with your left hand. When you open your left hand, the three coins will have magically increased to five.

Coin Trick 2: The Teleporting Coin

A coin mysteriously travels from one hand to the other. Start with your palms face up on the table and a coin in the palm of each hand. Flip both hands over and when you remove one hand there's nothing under it. When you remove your other hand, both coins are safely hidden under it.

The Secret: Place one coin in the palm of your left hand and another coin at the base of your fingers towards the right hand side of your right hand. Due to the positioning of the coins, when you flip your hands over the left coin will end up under your left hand, while the right coin will be pushed towards your left hand.

The trick should work automatically. If you flip your hands using enough speed, your audience won't be able to see what happens.

Practice flipping your hands until you can get the trick right every time. The hand that fires the coin across should flip slightly before your other hand. It's also important to make sure that the coins don't collide and make a noise, which will reveal the secret of this trick.

Coin Trick 3: Mind Reading Money

When you leave the room or turn your back, someone from the audience hides a coin under a cup that's placed in the center of the table. When you return to the room, you can guess the type of coin that has been hidden.

The Secret: Once a member of the audience has placed a coin in the middle of the table, your secret assistant places the cup over the coin. They use the handle of the cup to secretly inform you the value of the coin under it.

All you have to do is agree on a secret code. Each different handle position relates to a different value of coin. Just make sure that both of you are perfectly clear on the secret code that you're using and can remember it without having to think about it.

The other advantage of this trick is that you can perform it anywhere in the world regardless of the currency. <bio>If you're looking for coin tricks that will entertain and amaze, visit Lucas Da Silva's site at http://www.supermagictricks.com </bio>

Coin collecting is a very good hobby. Most of the coin collectors love to travel and are always on the lookout for collecting rare coins. Nobody can tell the exact value of a rare coin. There are thousands of coin dealers who buy coins and if you want to sell them, you can directly contact them.

A coin dealer could be a single person running the show or it could be a big company. Before selling a coin try to first research on the Internet about the coin value, coin condition, etc, and then contact at least 2-3 coin dealers and discuss the rates.

The first thing you should do while selling your coins, is create a list of the coins and get quotes from different coin dealers. One more source where you can sell your coins is through the Internet. Websites like ebay would come in handy if you would like to sell your coins. You can list the coins in an online auction or set a fixed price and sell. There are many coin sellers and dealers who buy old/rare coins online, so listing your coins online for sale is not a bad idea at all.

If you are thinking of selling your coins through a dealer then make sure the dealer is a reputable and honest person. Find out for how many years the dealer has been in the coin collection business. Always remember, that it does not mean the dealer is an honest and sincere person if he advertises in a leading newspaper. So make sure you ask for testimonials from the dealer.

You can contact the dealer in many ways, through email, phone etc. Make a list of the coin rates the dealer is willing to pay you. The more dealers you contact the better rates you will get. Some dealers collect only a certain type of coin and won't buy other types of coins. So, you can sell some coins to such a dealer and some to other dealers.

Make sure you bargain and get a good quote and once the negotiation is completed sell and get your money immediately. <bio>For other great information about coins and coin collecting please check out http://www.coins-sites.info and http://www.coins-links.info.
If you have a hobby of collecting coins, here are some tips to help you find all those "special coins" that you want to include in your collection:

Try The Local Shops-

Most of the states have a number of coin shops. Try out the shops in your locality, and you just might come across the particular coins you were looking for. These shops are usually placed in the bigger towns and cities. So to know where your nearest shop is, just flip through the local telephone directory.

These shops allow the collectors to check the coins and study them closely before they actually buy them. What's more, you can even come across coin connoisseurs in the stores, and with their expertise, they can surely help you out if you are not sure of the value or grade of a particular coin. Their tips can really come in use.

However, the coin shops in your locality may not always have a very good collection of coins or the price that they ask for the coins might be higher than what you expected.

Try Buying From Auctions:

Several auctions are organized especially for coins, and these might be a potential place for your coin hunt. But make sure that you are aware of its methods before you actually start bidding.

Auctions are now held through various ways -- be it through the Internet, where you email your bid, or even through the telephone. Whatever be the type, always be on your guard. Auctions often tend to take aggressive turns. So make sure that you yourself are composed. Fix a price for the particular coin that you want to deal on, and restrain yourself from bidding higher that the price you have already set.

Buying Through the Internet:

Buying through the Internet is probably the most easy way of adorning your collection. Since the overhead cost of online transaction is low for the online traders, the price that they set for their coins comes down as well.

Before you buy a coin, make sure that you study the terms and conditions of that particular seller. Examine the coin as soon as it gets to you, because you might have fallen for a forged coin, or the piece might have come to you with some damage. You can't really rest unless you get the exact piece that you ordered for.

Buying the best coins would be easy if you are careful enough, and know where to look for the best deals. <bio>Mohammed Shomam is involved with an online coin collecting project that informs and educates the coin collecting enthusiast through well-written articles.
Hobbies: Coin Collecting

So You Are a Coin Collector!

Tell me: Are You Still Collecting Raw Coins?

Take any Coin in Your Collection, and Tell Me What it is Worth. To do so, you have to make a Decision about the Grade of the Coin. I will Assume that You are an Expert at Grading a US Coin, so, you have arrived at the correct Grade for the Coin You Selected.

Obviously, the Grade Determines the Value or Worth of the Coin. And, Once you have the Grade of the Coin, Any source for the Price or Worth of a Coin will Tell You the Value. (e.g.: greysheet, Red Book, Black Book, Coin World, etc.)

Whether you are Getting Ready to Place a Book Value on Your Collection, Getting Ready to Upgrade or Sell one coin from Your Collection, or Getting Ready to Buy or Upgrade a new Addition, the Grade of the Subject Coin is All Important. The Grade is Everything. Nothing Matters More than the Grade of a Collectible Coin.

Now, assume that You are Selling this Coin, and Represent it to be the Grade You Decided Upon. You have Priced the Coin According to a Reliable Price Guide. What percentage of all Coin Collectors will Accept and Believe the Grade You Assigned, even if They could Examine the Coin In Person?

Probably a small Minority! Why? Because the Grade of a Coin is the Most Important Identity Factor, and determining the Grade is a Difficult Process. This is True, Whether Buying or Selling. If the Grade is not True, or Correct, then Money Will Be Lost =96 Lost to the Seller if the Grade is too Low; Lost to the Buyer if the Grade is too High.

There is nothing wrong with Buying and Selling Raw Coins. Even if they may come from pocket change or bank rolls. But once you Decide to Make them part of your Collection, they need to be Graded by an Independent Professional Coin Grader. This is so because You Need to Know the Value or Worth, of each coin, as well as the Total Collection.

But, you say, its Only my Personal Collection, and I am not going to Sell it now, or ever. Great, I say, but do you also Never plan on Upgrading any of those Coins? Whenever you want to Sell a Coin in your Personal Collection, you have to Sell it with a Grade and a Price. This means you have to Represent to someone else, the Grade of the Coin. You Must Do this because you have to put a Price on the Coin. When that Coin has been Professionally Certified and Graded, you have Eliminated the Biggest Argument Point. Knowing the Grade Makes Everything So Much Easier. Te Price is a Given once the Grade is Established.

Dreaming about owning a Coin with the Highest Grade (in any Class), as we flipped through the pages of our Red Book, has occurred to every one of us from the Start of our Coin Collecting days. Each one of those "Dream Coins" Passed the Test, and met the Requirements of the Coin Grading Guide established by the ANA (American Numismatic Association).

What most Coin Collectors don't realize is that there are only four (4) well known and respected Companies who offer Independent Professional Coin Grading, and Follow the ANA Official Grading Standards For US Coins. These Companies are: 1) PCGS; 2) NGC; 3) ANACS; and 4) ICG. These are the companies to be used when those Raw Coins need to be Graded.

Get the Highest Price for Coins You are Selling; Get the Best Price for Coins You are Buying; and Get an Accurate Appraisal of Your Collection.
If you have kids who are into coin collecting, you can help them realize the full potential of their interest by teaching them more about the matter and explaining to them the implications, as well as the many wonders, of coin collecting both as an art and a possible money-making hobby. Coin collecting for kids should be fun and exciting -- a learning experience that your kid could enjoy in many ways.

Like adults that are new at coin collecting, kids should be taught some of the basic FAQs and their corresponding answers. This way, they'll have at least a relatively solid idea about what coin collecting is all about. A kid who embarks on coin collecting without spending any time or effort to study the hobby and the market is just like any other lazy and ignorant coin collector who is sure to end up wasting precious money on problem, counterfeit, or overly graded coins. Of course, you'd want to spare your kid from that kind of heartbreak, so pile up the questions and explain on the answers well.

Perhaps one of the first things your kid will ask you regarding his newfound hobby -- coin collecting for kids -- is where to start. These days, you can find several coin clubs that have kids as members. You can have your kid join one coin club where he can learn about coin collecting and where to get material for his own coin collection. The great thing about it is, your kid is sure to make new friends who will share his interest and with whom he can develop his hobby.

The first coins your kid can have for his coin collection are those in circulation. This will make getting started easier; however, you should remind him to avoid spending his coins. The next coins he can collect may come from a variety of sources, including coin shops, coin shows, flea markets, bazaars, craft fairs, mail order, and from sites on the Internet. If your kid's coin collection is growing steadily and impressively, you could take him to auctions -- the most elite source of collectible coins even to this day.

Major specialty auction firms put the rarest and most expensive coins up for grabs. You can even find some auctions being conducted online, making attendance easier and more convenient. Before placing your bid, you should make sure that the auction you're joining is credible and that you check first the record of the seller. Bids can be pretty steep in auctions, so don't join them if you don't have the budget, your kid's coin collection is not yet that noteworthy, or your kid has not yet shown his commitment to the hobby. Furthermore, once your kid shows genuine interest in the hobby, you can encourage him to trade or buy coins from other coin collectors. From the start, coin collecting for kids can be an adventure you and your kid can go through together.

Naturally, in coin collecting for kids, the proper handling of coins should be taught.<bio>PART 2 - For part two of this article, head on to Coin Collecting For Kids where you can also find the best places to Sell Gold Coins.</bio>

One remarkably rewarding hobby, in more ways than one, is coin collecting. Though it may not have the same visceral excitement as, say, hang gliding, it has a subdued joy that is more than worth the experience. The simple joys of finding a coin you've been looking for or discovering a mint-condition penny from forty years ago is a pleasure that is not to be missed. While this may be difficult for some to understand, coin collecting is a reward all its own and, for those who do it, there is nothing else like it.

To understand the pleasure of coin collecting is to understand the pleasure of discovery. You do not collect coins just to have metal lying around, you collect coins to find something new. This is because, with the number of coins minted around the world, there is always something new to discover. There are always more coins, more designs, more commemorative editions, and more periods in history to explore. Which means that completing a coin collection is impossible, because there are always more coins to collect.

However, it is not only the coins themselves that make coin collecting so enjoyable. There is also the fact that there is always something more to learn about coins and coin collecting. The joys of discovery are not only in the coin shops, they are also in the mind. With every article, book, or simple observation there is something new to learn, ponder, or finally decide. The exploration of topics and knowledge has its own rewards and coin collecting provides plenty of opportunity to do just that.

Of course, coin collecting has more tangible rewards as well. Coins do tend to increase as the years pass on, so there are monetary rewards in addition to the mental rewards. And there is a certain excitement in finding a unique coin that is worth a whole heck of a lot of money. And, when you do manage to do that, you not only get the satisfaction of discovering something unexpected, you can keep it for its investment potential over the long haul. After all, rare coins are not getting any more common, so they are only going to increase in value over time.

So, with all these exciting facets to a coin collection, how do you actually start with coin collecting? The best thing to do is to just start looking through the change you have on hand right now. After all, all the coins that are now being collected were once change in someone's pocket. So start with the coins you already have, learn about them, and then move out from there. And, as you collect more coins and learn more about them, the continual process of discovery will be its own reason for continuing your explorations. Then, when you finally discover the joys of simply collecting coins for the sake of collecting coins, you will be able to assemble an impressive set of coins that will be an investment all its own. Which will make a lot more people happy about the fact that you enjoy coin collecting so much. <bio>Coins and Coin Collecting, http://www.coinsandcoincollecting.com Your guide to getting the very best from your coin collection. </bio>

Coin collecting or numismatics is probably one of the most popular hobbies in the world and also one of the oldest. Many individuals at some point in time have collected coins. If you want to start a coin collection, a lot of research and study should be devoted to the hobby of coin collecting.

Coins have often been regarded as 'mirrors of history'. Other than the monetary value and worth of antique coins, they also possess historical value. Coins belonging to different ages have different stories to tell of empires and emperors.

Amateur coin collectors generally start their coin collection by collecting coins that belong to their own country, as this is the easiest and the most cost effective way to start a coin collection. With time this may give way to specializing in collecting coins that belong to a particular type. Coin collectors may specialize in coins of a particular country or of a particular period or metal. Commemorative coins, such as those released during sporting events or those that mark the independence day of a country, can also make an appealing collection. Coins with faults or defects are also popular among serious collectors.

As with any other hobby, the coin collection market is flooded with fakes and if you are not an expert in this field it is very difficult to separate the original genuine coins from the counterfeit coins. Before buying expensive coins it is a good idea to get the coin authenticated by reputable coin grading and coin authentication services. The condition of a coin is denoted by a coin grade. For a detailed study on coin grades, read Photograde by James Ruddy. Currently, the more reputable coin grading services are Professional Coin Grading Service, Numismatic Guarantee Corporation of America, ANACS and Independent Coin Grading Co.

The best places to buy coins are reputable coin dealers, auctions, coin shows or from other collectors, though you should avoid buying from the internet as it is hard to judge online whether the coin you are interested in is genuine or counterfeit. Coins may be stored in coin cases, coin trays and coin albums. However, you should avoid storing coins in jars, as keeping them in a jar may scratch the coins.

Amateur coin collectors may mistakenly think that cleaning coins is an important part of caring for the coin collection. However, the opposite is true; it is best that coins are not cleaned at all. Collectors prefer the original look of coins and cleaning coins may bring down their value. If your coins need any cleaning, you should first consult a professional or an expert. Olive oil or soapy water may be used for cleaning coins. Harsh cloths should never be used to clean, and tap water is a strict no-no as they contain minerals that may harm the coins. <bio>If you want to start your own Coin Collection, visit Susan's sites at http://www.coin-collecting-hobby.info and http://www.coin-collecting-vault.info.
Back in the olden days, people hoarded coins for the sole reason of the value they can get from them. Centuries later, people transformed that mindless activity into an elite art called coin collecting. These days, more and more people are taking an interest in numismatics and realizing the potential of investing in coins. If you're a beginner at coin collecting, it is only wise that you read up on your new hobby and find out everything there is to know about it, including how to determine your coin collection value.

Numismatics refers to the science of studying coins using a legislative, economic, metrological, and artistic point of view. Coin collecting, on the other hand, refers to the hobby of collecting or gathering coins for the purpose of selling or trading them for their value or simply for keeping and displaying them for personal satisfaction. While the two terms are different, they are often used interchangeably and thought to have the same meaning. In this aspect, both numismatics and coin collecting have an interest in the value of a coin -- or at least its closest estimate.

As a rule, a coin must be examined physically so that its authenticity, grade, and other issues need to be settled can be determined, prior to the establishment of its total and real value. Naturally, like every other thing in this world, a coin is only worth whatever amount someone is willing to pay for it, but to arrive at this amount, a variety of factors must be carefully taken into consideration. Your coin collection value will thus depend on these factors, which include proper identification of the coin, assurance of its authenticity, its grade, and its overall appearance.

Proper identification of a coin involves taking a look at its face value, the date and the mintmark, and naming the country or government that issued that particular coin, as well as the design used and the year it was in circulation (some serious coin collectors are very particular about the period in which a coin has been circulated). Normally, the information afore-cited can be verified without much difficulty so that proper identification is the easiest stage in assessing a coin's value. However, while a coin in top condition finds much favor, you should not be quick to clean or repair your damaged coin. Coin collectors go for coins that have not been tampered with because tampering, which includes cleaning and polishing, takes away some of the coin's authentic appeal.

Since there is money in coin collecting, many people have attempted to sell fake coins. Even to this day, there are several fake coins still out there, and what you find might not be as genuine as you'd like it to be. Thus, one of the most important things you need to check right away when you have a coin in possession is its authenticity. There are a number of counterfeits and alterations of different kinds and types of coins that you really have to be careful and examine your discovery.<bio>PART 2 - For part two of this article, head on to Coin Collection Value where you can also find the best places to Sell Gold Coins.</bio>

Anyone and everyone could make collecting coins one's hobby. However it is believed that at present 106 million Americans are into the hobby of collecting quarters. Collecting quarters involves men, women, and children of all ages.

The question is that what it is regarding these quarters that millions of people go crazy about. Essentially the collection is an easy task as quarters can be found nearly anywhere, and the cost of these collectible coins is also very meager.

How should you go about collecting or starting to collect these quarters which are so highly in demand?

For the budget conscious coin collector

Many quarters can be procured as change from purchases if the collector is bothered with his or her budget. This method of obtaining quarters is very much suitable and less of a lifestyle-invasive method. Bags of these coins can be bought from coin dealers, if the collector is serious. Remember that those quarters that were not circulated should be chosen.

How to store those quarters

Coins are generally kept inside a large glass jar or bowl, by those just venturing into a coin collecting hobby; which is absolutely okay. Coin storage devices particularly made for coins that are available in coin shops and from coin dealers are favored by serious collectors.

Ways to make quarter-collecting fun and interesting

The ideal people to start a hobby like coin collecting, particularly quarters are children. The excitement of a new quarter in one's pocket is unbeatable. They can enquire and research about the coin's origin regarding which state it came from, when they find a new coin. This is an appropriate method of mixing learning with fun.

Coin history 101

Believe it or not, the order of the States is the basis of the sequence of how the coins are minted. According to essential U.S history as Delaware was the first state, the first quarter to be minted was therefore this. The schedule from 1999 to 2008 of the U.S mint should be checked for the sequence of other states.

There are many benefits which accrue from the hobby of collecting quarters and it is a valuable hobby. It teaches you to be appreciative of history and the value of big and small things in life as well as patient and resourceful. <bio>Mohammed Shomam is involved with an online coin collecting project that informs and educates the coin collecting enthusiast through well-written articles.
When talking about coin collecting, rare coins are some of the first things to spring to mind. After all, coin collecting is often considered to be an investment and rare coins are the most valuable coins out there. They are highly sought after and coveted and, because they are in so much demand, they tend to be worth a great deal. However, because they are worth a great deal, they tend to be much more in demand, which increases their value. So if you want to look into rare coins, remember that you have some heavy competition.

One of the best places to find rare coins is, of course, in your pockets. No, you are not going to find any coins that are worth thousands. But you can find an occasional needle in the haystack that will be worth much more than you might expect. This is because there are a lot of coins in circulation and some rare coins just float along and get lost in the shuffle because nobody bothered to see what was in their hands. However, as a coin collector, you should take a look at the change that passes into your hands so that you can be sure to catch the occasionally unusual coin that comes your way. Of course, it is difficult to keep your eyes out all the time for that coin that slips through the cracks for years on end, but the rewards are well worth the effort of checking your change routinely.

In order to ensure that you find the rare coins that pass your way, you need to be well informed. Which means that you need to do your research so that you know what to look for. You could have fistfuls of rare coins in your hands, but they are only worth something if you notice that they are rare. So you should keep on top of coin collecting and have the research handy when you look through your change for rare coins. Plus, by doing the research now, you can avoid kicking yourself later for overlooking a rare coin that was right in the palm of your hand.

Though your own pockets may hold a good supply of rare coins, a more reliable place to hunt for rare coins in at your local coin dealer or online. The coin dealer is often superior in this instance, as you will be able to look at the coins directly, rather than relying on photography and description to figure out if the rare coin you desire is the one you are attempting to buy. However, there are reputable coin dealers on the Internet and they have excellent selections of rare coins. But do your research before you buy so that you know the person you are dealing with can be trusted.

Rare coins are not only good investments, they can be fun too. After all, having something unusual that everyone else wants is rather enjoyable on its own. Not only does it provide you with a sense of satisfaction for having found something others overlooked, it gives you the chance to take some pride in your own process of discovery. And, with coin collecting, the fun is not only in having a good collection, it is in building it. So get to building an excellent collection by including some rare coins. <bio>Coins and Coin Collecting, http://www.coinsandcoincollecting.com Your guide to getting the very best from your coin collection. </bio>

There are many coin price guides published; weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and annually. They come in the form of magazines, newsprint, "hot sheets", and books. All of us have referred to one of these from time to time to ascertain what a particular coin might be worth. Yet, few of us stop to think about what we are getting from any one of these Price Guides, beyond the price or value of a coin. After all, don't price guides, just give you the price? What else is there?

Basic to an understanding of price guides are two things: 1) the Grade of the Coin; and 2) the Foundation of the price guide.

Knowing the Grade of the Coin is required before one can begin. Saying so seems to be obvious, but what more does it mean?

Unless the coin is Graded by an appropriate Professional Grading Company, which has designated what Grade and Identity has been assigned to the coin, most of us are making an assumption about the actual Grade. This assumption we make can be very dangerous because of: a) the difficulty in grading a coin; and, b) the different possible outcomes or results that occur. One Grade "point" or level can make the difference in hundreds or thousands of dollars in the Value of a Coin.

Price Guides assume that YOU already Know the Grade of the Coin. This is why we have the First Rule of Coin Collecting: Know the Grade of Your Coin.

Secondly, ALL Price Guides are founded on the same Principle, which is that the Coin, whose price you are looking up, has been Graded using one Grading Standard. That Grading Standard is set by the ANA =96 American Numismatic Association =96 and is entitled the Official Grading Standards For US Coins.

Therefore, ALL Price Guides have a "silent assumption" built in to their guide; which is that the Grade that YOU decide upon, is the True or Accurate, and that such Grade is based on the ANA Standards.

The first difficulty that arises is that most people never know if the Grade that they have decided upon is Accurate. Of course, this difficulty never comes into question, if the coin is Professionally Graded by an appropriate company. There are only four (4) reputable Professional Grading companies that strictly follow the Guidelines set by the ANA, and they are: PCGS, NCG, ICG, and ANACS.

The second difficulty arises because of this "silent assumption" or Foundation of all price guides is whether or not the Grade has been decided upon using the Guidelines or Standards established by the ANA. If you don't have the skills and training of a professional coin grader, the decision is probably questionable.

Even if you do have the skills and training of a professional coin grader, the decision is still probably questionable. Why? Because even professional coin graders have differing opinions. This is why the reputable professional coin grading companies require the opinions of three (3) professional coin graders to arrive at the "Grade" designation to be placed on every coin.

The obvious conclusion is that a Serious Coin Collector is going to invest in rare and modern coins that are graded by one of the Top Four reputable Grading companies. It is the only certain way to eliminate the disagreements and arguments about the Grade of Any coin being Bought or Sold! It is the only certain way one can Value their coin collection. It also eliminates "getting taken" or cheated buying raw coins.

Have fun collecting your Perfect Coins!

Robert L Taylor, JD Copyright 2006, Robert L Taylor, JD <bio>Robert Taylor is a retired Lawyer, from Denver, CO, and who has had a passion for collecting US coins, since the age of 6.
To the novice, it might seem like one coin is as good as the next. However, that's just not the case. To determine value of coins of the same type, grading is performed. Basically, grading is the process that determines the condition--and the value--of the coin being looked at. The grade of a coin can wildly affect its value. Years past, Dr. William Shelby devised the 0-70 scale system for grading coins.

Today, this code is combined with letters to create a great coin grading scale that anyone can follow. In the remainder of this article, I am going to share with you nine different grades for coins. We will start with the best possible grade and work our way down from there.

The best possible grade is MS, which means Mint State. Actually, the MS grade has a numerical range from 60 to 70. An MS coin is perfect in every way and uncirculated. You don't find MS-70 coins, you buy them--if you can. The majority of MS grade coins you will see are MS-65. If you turn on your TV, there's probably a coin selling show that will have MS grade coins.

Next up is AU. Almost uncirculated (AU) coins typically have very light traces of wear on them. One thing is for sure. The novice will have trouble determining if the coin is AU-50, AU-55, or some other grade. Here's a tip. Find the highest point on the coin (the part that sticks out the most) and look for wear. That will be your guide.

Below the AU grade is the EF grade, which means extremely fine. The EF coins have slightly more wear. Keep in mind that grading is a precise process. EF grade coins are very striking.

Very Fine coins (VF) have even more wear than the EF grade coins, but they are still great to look at. VF grade coins have sharp features, and light wear. It's one step above the change you have in your pocket.

Fine coins are basically pocket change. These coins still resemble their mold, but they have worn details. Perhaps you have seen a worn coin from the 1960's. If the coin is really showing some wear, it can be downgraded to Very Good (VG). The rims of the coin will still pop, but the coin has miles on it.

Should the coin be fairly worn, but the mint marking is still visible; it's Good (G). Below Good is AG (Almost Good). The AG grade coin has excessive wear, and features like the date might be partly missing. Fair (F) coins are in miserable shape. They might even have holes in them or be misshaped.
