Finding an automatic coffee maker that suits your needs can be trickey. Automatic coffee makers can be used for regular coffee, espresso, or even lattes. No matter what you like, you can find something to fit your coffee tastes. You can even find automatic coffee makers that have grinders built right in and some can also timed so that your coffee is all ready for you as soon as you wake up!

If you take good care of your coffee machine it will last longer. Always turn it off when you aren't using your machine so that it lasts longer. The more coffee you drink the more often you will have to replace your machine. You can also clean your machine by running water with one cup of vinegar through the machine. This will help clean the interior of the it and keep your coffee tasting better. After using the vinegar solution make sure you run water through it several times to get rid of any vinegar residue.

You can also save time in the morning by purchasing a coffee maker that has a timer on it. You can make your coffee at night and then it will brew for you at whatever time you would like. If you need to hit the road at 7 am, then set your coffee to brew at 6:30 and you'll be awake and alert by the time you hit the road. You can also buy coffee makers that stop when you grab the pot. So if you are in a real rush just pour your coffee even if the whole pot isn't ready yet. Don't worry, the flow of the coffee will stop automatically for you!

Shop around to find the coffee maker that is best for you since they come in so many sizes and shapes. If you are into home décor than find one that will suit your kitchen or personal tastes. Some coffee machines make a single serving and others make tons of cups so get one that is suitable for all the coffee drinkers in your household. You can also find something small and portable if you travel often and want your coffee machine with you where you go! <bio>Johnathan Bakers wrote predominantly for http://www.coffee-espresso-maker-tips.com , a website on espresso and espresso.
If you delight to get another cup of coffee, no problems about that! Coffee is now on every street corner everywhere in the country.

And if you are a big java drinker, feel at home. You are one of those who look to a fine caffeine beverage everyday to start their morning the right way. Coffee is now the bomb!

What makes coffee very great these days is the mad selection. There are now so many coffee mixtures that your head spins thinking of them. With all the expresso-based lattes that are available, you will surely find one that will impress you.

These days, what is important is the syrups and coffee creamers galore.

I don't know what your favorite cup of coffee is. But for me, I always prefer vanilla latte. To me, it's sweet and creamy, but it still gives a lot of room for the fresh ground coffee taste. This is where it beats many of the new-age coffee creamers and syrups because they woefully fail to do that.

If you have ever tried a hazelnut or amaretto latte you will notice that the flavor of the syrup is very powerful; herein the true coffee taste doesn't shine through.

This is what some people prefer. For example, my wife is in love with the infinite syrups and coffee creamers that she has. In her words, she wants her coffee to be sweet and creamy and also with a hint of coffee flavor.

Of course she's not alone in this preference. Many people have different tastes and prefer different things from other people. This is the reason why the variety of coffee creamers and flavor is so fantastic.

Some people like to always keep enough selection of latte syrups and coffee creamers everywhere in the kitchen as a random break from the norm. This helps when company arrives. People always love selection, that is why it is said that andquot;variety is the spice of lifeandquot;.

Whether or not they like a nice espresso drink or just a cup of drip coffee, they can find syrups and coffee creamers that will pleasantly compliment either.

I don't know about you, but I prefer keeping a few rich coffee creamers handy in my refrigerator in case my parents pop in. Like all parents, they are old-school coffee drinkers and always prefer perking fresh pot each morning.

All the new craze of cappuccinos, lattes, and iced coffee drinks haven't done anything for their retro tastes.

Do you notice how they laugh at us when we drink iced lattes with whip cream? Whichever, you can always find a decent selection of latte syrups and coffee creamers for your pleasure, either at your local grocery store or online. <bio>Bill Johnson - http://www.home-seasonings.com </bio>

To get to the great flavour of Espresso that is enjoyed the world over it all starts with a top quality bean.

When you settle back with an espresso coffee in hand, naturally you want to be drinking the best. For that to happen, the quality of the coffee bean needs to be at its peak. I am sure it is common knowledge that the biggest percentage of all commercial coffee is grown in nice neat rows on large coffee plantations around the world. But if you are in the know you will soon come to realise that all coffee is not equal. Its flavour depends very much on where and how it is grown.

The search for better flavored Espresso Coffee has spanned several centuries.

But for those who are just out to have their first bleary-eyed cup for the day, most will not be concerned as to whether they are drinking shade grown espresso coffee or not. However once they wake up a bit it might be quite astonishing to find out that there are over 800 active substances in one cup of coffee with each and every one of them impacting on the flavor.

That's why Arabian coffee tastes different from Columbian coffeee, which in turn tastes different to Kona coffee. Despite where it is grown espresso coffee always has a full, dark flavour which makes it unique. For gourmet coffee drinks such as the cappuccino and latte, espresso is always the base, so it has to have that strong depth of flavor to meld in with the other ingredients like milk and sugar.

With shade-grown coffee trees the berries mature more slowly than on those grown out in the open sun. What this means is the crop is smaller in volume and comes on later, but the flavor is richer and mellower. These two attributes combine to produce the perfect bean for making espresso coffee. It is a fact that sun-ripened cherries can be bitter and sharp compared to shade-grown cherries.

Besides the fact that shade-grown coffee tastes better, there are some highly significant environmental reasons to choose this type of coffee over others. You see, most of the land cleared for coffee plantations was originally tropical forest.

Another good reason to seek out shade grown espresso coffee is that it's usually organically grown. It is just one small but deliberate way you can do your bit for the future of our world while enjoying a cup of espresso.

So if you want to take your espresso making to new heights, then like me you should switch to buying only organic espresso coffee beans. The experience will be well worth the effort to be rewarded with the best cup of koffee your money can buy. In addition you will gain the satisfaction of knowing you are helping the environment as well as a host of well deserving Columbian farmers to manage their land in a sustainable manner and provide for their families.

What a great reason to enjoy a good cup of espresso! <bio>Author John is a coffee lover from Australia and has enjoyed many cups of exotic and gourmet coffees in his travels all over the world.
No matter what the brand of the coffee that you buy and no matter how great the advertisement is, if you do not own a coffee roaster and grind the beans yourself, you are missing out on enjoyment and paying a high price for it.

Before the age of mass communication, before the age of advertisements, coffee roasters were all within the family, and they were the ones who roasted their coffee and enjoyed them wholeheartedly.

It's always been a good feeling to wake up every morning with a pleasant coffee aroma. But the coffee aroma that many of us woke up each day is usually the aroma that comes from a metal can or a ceramic jar. That storage could never compare to freshly-ground beans.

The difference is this: If you roast with your own coffee roaster, drinking your own roasted coffee is like biting into freshly baked bread. The opposite is experienced by people who don't have coffee roasters. For them, they drink coffee that's like eating pre-cooked popcorn that is rubbery to the taste.

It could be hard to believe now, because so many people had been used to buying instant goods that often cannot compare to freshly-roasted beans. Try it for yourself sometime, just for the experience. Even if at first you don't achieve the level of exceptional coffee roasters, the coffee that you made, even with all its imperfections, will still be much better than those that you buy from a grocery store. There is an extra incentive as well. You will save up to 50% of the cost of store-bought coffee.

Aside from making coffee that is half the cost and tastes much better, here are other reasons to become your own coffee roaster.

Everyone knows how delicious freshly baked bread tastes compared with the stale loaves. Serving as your own coffee roaster and drinking from your own roasted coffee is as big a difference as that.

A roasting coffee bean explodes with aroma that is without equal. It permeates the senses and stimulates you to wake up and face the day.

Instant coffee and other grocery-grade coffee will not leave such an aftertaste on your palate. If it ever does, it will only be for a short while, not so with a freshly roasted coffee. On the contrary, your palate will retain the delicious taste for most of the morning.

When you are your own coffee roaster, you can be assured the best quality coffee because you cannot help but make it special for yoursself. You can sample the gourmet coffees. They too are freshly roasted and are an excellent alternative to the pre-ground coffee that you buy. Even then, it will never be and can never be as fresh and as good as when you roast it yourself. If you can boil an egg, you can roast coffee. It is really quite simple. Use a popcorn popper if you can't find anything to properly roast the beans with. Pour in the beans and let them roast. If you do not want it too dark, have it lighter by roasting it for less time. You can make adjustments for different coffee textures as you experiment.

The satisfaction that you will get will more than make up for the trouble that you have by roasting your own coffee. Ignore the advertisements and experience for yourself how superb coffee really is. After that, you will never believe the boasting of coffee companies who say they have the best coffee in the world. <bio>George Davis writes for several web sites, including http://togeb.com and http://real-product.com </bio>

Do you have to be a professional coffee taster to have all the fun from coffee ? the 'cuppers' seem to have all of it, over and above their usual coffee buying, judging and writing reviews. But you can also enjoy the flavors of Tanzanian Peaberry, Monsoon Mysore and the rest if you wish to.

Coffee is judged by the professional 'cupper' through its many attributes, like smell, taste, flavor, body, acidity and several others. You can also simulate a professional set up with some simple arrangements.

First, you must have an abundant supply of fresh, filtered water. The best ground coffee can lose all the charm if made with 'stale' or tainted water. Water often absorbs smell from the air or may contain sulfur. Sometimes mildew in water pipes can alter the taste of water. never use distilled water as it contains an excessive amount of softening salts.

Keep an array of small glasses, small bowls, measuring spoons handy on a tray. And of course, you need the coffee.

Then keep boiled water ready. You have to grind the coffee beans in a burr grinder. Different settings of the mixer is needed for different trials of coffee. Surprisingly, grinds make all the difference to the taste of coffee.

Then soak any kind of coffee for a few minutes. You can filter the liquid or scoop out a little with a spoon to smell it. Take a deep breath to let the smell sink in. Then taste the liquid with your while tongue. Don't drink it. Roll it in your mouth then spit it out in a container.

What is your impression ? did you find it woody or somewhat winey ? did you think it to be acidic or smooth. Was the aroma flowery or like pepper ? Coffee comes in a large variety of flavors and tastes. Of course, it is grown in a large variety of soil, climates and preparation is equally diverse.

You can taste a wide range of coffee -- for example the Kenyan AA looks darker and is different from a cup of Colombian which is more floral. The Yemen Mocha again is different and tastes and smells like wine.

Altering the grind and roast can make a lot of difference to the taste and smell of coffee. Try from a rough to a smooth grind; colors vary from light to dark; tastes vary from American to Viennese.

Usually two tablespoons (10 grams) of coffee is needed for every six fluid ounces (180 ml ) of water. The temperature of the water is around 200 F (93C). of course as you go on trying out different methods and tastes, you can adjust any of these basic profiles.

The other important attributes based on which coffee is adjudged are as follows :

Acid -- a dry taste. Prominent in Mexican coffee. Milder in beans from Sumatra. Here age and roast makes a bid difference.

Aroma -- the steam or vapor gives out the smell, which can be fruity or herbal. Kona coffee for instance has a floral smell.

Bitter -- you can sense this taste by the back of your tongue. It comes from the caffeine and other components. For instance, robusta is more bitter than Arabica.

Body -- how 'thick' is the brew? American roasted coffee is light when compared to the dark French coffee.

Nuttiness -- this is the sign of a poor quality of coffee beans. It is the result of aldehydes and ketones and tastes like roasted nuts.

Sharpness -- this is the result of a mixture of acids and salts. You can have a pronounced effect in the cheap robusta beans.

So go ahead and experiment with as many tastes, countries and smells as you like and soon you will become a self-styled coffee expert ! <bio>Melinda Carnes is a staff writer at http://www.coffee-enthusiast.com and is an occasional contributor to several other websites, including http://www.everything-gourmet.com. </bio>

Every coffee lover out there loves fresh ground coffee, no matter what kind it is. There's just something special and wonderful about freshly ground coffee that brings a smile as that first whiff floats through the house or coffee shop. In order to enjoy the special flavor of fresh ground coffee, one usually has to own some sort of coffee grinder. Gone are the days of the tiny little box with the turning wheel on top. Today, a coffee grinder can cost hundred of dollars, if not more.

A great tasting cup of coffee is produced from whole coffee that's ground within a few minutes of brewing, and it doesn't matter what kind of coffee bean is used, whether it's an exotic blend or French Vanilla or a Columbian blend. Whole coffee beans can be caffeinated or decaffeinated. The reason why coffee tastes so much better when it's just been through a coffee grinder, is that within two minutes, or so the experts claim, the coffee beans begin to oxidize, which is referred to in coffee circles as 'staling', which is what changes the flavor. Most experts agree that the sooner you brew your coffee after you put it through a coffee grinder, the better your coffee will taste.

How do you grind coffee? There are different types of coffee grinder models out there, some with a blade and some with a burr. A coffee grinder fitted with a blade is less expensive than a burr coffee grinder. A fan-shaped blade spins to grind the coffee beans. However, with a blade coffee grinder, grains are inconsistent unless you grind the coffee to a finer texture, which is fine if you're making an automatic drip coffee maker.

If you want espresso, this method doesn't work out too well. A burr coffee grinder is the best, as it crushes the coffee beans in a consistent manner that allows for a uniform grind. Of course, a burr coffee grinder can be either an electric style or a hand-cranked style. Both work equally well, though of course the electric coffee grinder will take less time. Still, the hand-cranked coffee grinder is ideal for those who like to take the time to enjoy handling the coffee and savor the aroma while grinding. A hand-crank coffee grinder is also portable, which makes it ideal for taking along on camping trips or when RV'ing.

A burr style coffee grinder can cost someone anywhere from $75 to $400, depending on how fancy you want to get. It doesn't really matter what kind of coffee grinder you purchase as long as it does the job it's supposed to do. You don't have to spend a fortune for a good cup of coffee when a bit of patience will get you the same results. Many people enjoy grinding their own coffee, and whether you own a blade or a burr coffee grinder, you're going to enjoy a better cup of coffee no matter which style you use. <bio>Still looking for the perfect coffee?
It all began in the year 1853, one man, Victor Engwall, decided he needed to create the tastiest cup of coffee around. He was dedicated to coffee and had a very peculiar skill of detecting the finest coffee in his experiments. Therefore, after many different combinations of coffee beans, roasted to perfection, and ground in many different ways, along with drinking the coffee day in and out, he finally created a gourmet premium coffee that is perfectly blended and unique.

Now after 140 years of business, Gevalia coffee creates in excess of thirty different types of coffee and fifteen different types of teas. Their selection of fine, gourmet coffees that have been built on the traditions started with Victor Engwall and continued which makes Gevalia coffees the perfect coffee for any coffee fan, no matter what mood they are in, what they may desire at that particular moment, or what their personal tastes are in coffee.

No matter what your tastes are, Gevalia coffee has you covered. Then Peruvian Organic Coffee from Gevalia may be the way for you to go. No? Well, then perhaps roasted Gevalia coffee is more your taste, there are eight different varieties of roasted Gevalia coffee from the new invention of French Roasted which is dark roasted and smooth, available in regular or decaffeinated, to Breakfast Blend which is smooth and silky to the taste buds, a perfect way to start your day.

If your mouth is not watering yet, why not consider some of your favorite flavored coffees. Flavored Gevalia coffees are available in amaretto, cinnamon, Irish crème, hazelnut, mocha, French vanilla, chocolate raspberry, and vanilla nut coffees for any flavorful taste. That is definitely not all, when it comes to convenience and busy schedules Gevalia coffee has you covered with the introduction of coffee pods.
Nothing says "me time" better than a cup of coffee or tea? A hot, piping cup or mug of the favorite hot beverage alone or with a special friend can seem like an oasis of sanity in the midst of a hectic day. Hot or cold, with some favorite fruit or nut flavors added, can make for a very special time. Both coffee and tea come with caffeine as optional. If you find that caffeine disturbs your sleep or raises your blood pressure, you can opt for the caffeine free version. If, caffeine is not a problem then go for it! Since both coffee and tea contain caffeine naturally, they must undergo a process to remove it. The decaffeination process whether for beans or leaves, takes some of the flavor out of it, so plan to purchase a better grade of coffee when you want the caffeine out.

There is some humor when people link caffeine products with relaxation and comfort, while at the same time, look upon alcohol as a party drink. When in reality, alcohol is a depressant. You can always spice up your coffee and tea with some flavoring. Just check out your local supermarkets. There are a huge variety of flavorings for your coffee and tea. A scented pot of coffee is the norm at breakfast time. The aroma is as exhilarating as the coffee itself. Tea makes a nice break in the afternoon, accompanied by a light sandwich.

Coffee and tea are sometimes split up by gender as well as time of day. Coffee is the man's drink, served with a newspaper while a flowered porcelain pot of tea is the picture of milady's genteel tastes. In reality, men all over the world prefer strong mugs of tea and there's no shortage of women who gather for a ladies afternoon with coffee.

Hot or cold, man or woman, flavored or plain, caffeinated or not, coffee and tea are possibly the best part of the day. <bio>Kerry Ng is a successful Webmaster and publisher of The Coffee Info Blog.
When I was quite young, I really didn't like to drink coffee. What I did love was the smell of coffee brewing! Even to this day, when I smell freshly brewed coffee, my pleasure centers wake right up!

If the coffee has been brewed in an old-fashioned pot on the stove, I am flooded with memories of my grandmother's kitchen. I am reminded of how much love we shared. When I feel really nostalgic for those times, I just have to brew up a pot of strong coffee on the stove, sit at my kitchen table, and go back to those happy days of my childhood.

When I was a teenager, I drank coffee to help me stay awake at night studying for exams. After school, I would drink a cup of hot coffee with Grandma at her kitchen table. We would sit and talk about how my classes were going. Her kitchen still had that same wonderful aroma that I remembered from my childhood.

Once I became an adult, I started to drink coffee with friends and family. It really became a social thing. At some point, I began drinking coffee to wake me up in the morning and as a companion while I read a book or talked on the phone. Most of the time, I would use a percolator to brew my coffee. Although the coffee still smelled and tasted good, it seemed to be missing something. It just wasn't the same as Grandma's coffee brewed in that old pot on the stove.

Then I had children who didn't like the taste of coffee. Since I missed that special smell of coffee brewed on the stove, I would get out Grandma's old coffee pot. When I brewed the coffee on the stove top in that old pot, my children loved the smell.

When they would come home from school, I would sit at my kitchen table with them to talk over their day. We enjoyed our time talking and drinking our coffee. They said that they loved the smell of the coffee brewing on the stove. It reminded them of being at Grandma's house.

Now they are grown and have families of their own. Now I am the grandmother. Although I usually use a coffeemaker on the counter, sometimes I just have to get that old-fashioned pot out and brew the coffee on the stove top.

Coffee is pretty much the same as it was back when I was growing up. However, the choices are practically unlimited. Yes, I can still brew it on the stove top. I can use my fancy coffeemaker with the clock on it and the timer that will have it brewed before I get out of bed.

But when my grandson comes over, he asks me to make him some coffee in that old pot on the stove top. Although I use decaffeinated coffee now, it still tastes great! That wonderful aroma fills the house. We sit at the kitchen table and talk about his day at school. Funny how some things never change. <bio>Buy coffee pod machines at http://www.lapiccola.com/ </bio>

Picking out a glass coffee table for keeping the coffee maker, with my wife was probably the worst experience I can ever think of. Undoubtedly troublesome, it created a state of affliction after all. Both of us are extremely pragmatic, have strong tastes and used to respect our own choices and preferences. This does however not affect our private lives at all, as we are both sensible enough to allow some spaces into the relationship. Nevertheless, when it comes to refurbish or refurnish the house, such as altering the layout of the living room, or changing the shades of the walls, or buying some sort of machines, everything suddenly breaks off in a frenzied way. When we planned to purchase a new glass top coffee table, we felt exactly the same.

After visiting a dozen stores of glass coffee tables, we could not agree even on a single choice. However, my sense of pride has allowed me to consider myself as the true connoisseur. My idea of a perfect glass coffee table will be simple, economical lines, with an elegant and functional design and a size that will exactly suit to the center of our living room to enhance its glory. But my wife on the contrary, with her aesthetic sense of imagination, wants an extravagant rococo - somewhat in the baroque style. What I rejected as outmoded, vulgar and inefficient; her eyes happily accepted exactly the same. She thought her dream coffee table would be made of glass and have lions feet with the corners having bejeweled coffee mug holders. It seemed like she was living in the court of Louis XIV and picking out the glass coffee tables for the royal house; for then her taste would have definitely been hugely appreciated and lavishly complemented. But whatever, I was totally against the idea of giving my wishes up to let her have all the right to pick the glass table as per her wish.

Ultimately we ended in a fight between us before the actual decision was taken. Our fights are however, not a simple brawl that last for a while, rather it's a saga. Moreover, the memories of the last one make me shudder enough to let it come between us and flare up the tension once more. Eventually I yielded somewhat to my wife's questionable taste, and consequently found a glass coffee table that went reasonably well with our tastes, albeit none of us preferred it to a great extent. <bio>Jack Blacksmith regularly pens papers on areas relating with espresso and cappuccino.
Interior design and redecorating of any kind is a guaranteed way to test any relationship. Even couples that get on brilliantly most of the time can come to blows when choosing furniture, soft furnishings or shades of paint. This is exactly what happened when my boyfriend and I set out one Saturday morning to look for a glass topped coffee table.

We are both strong characters with distinctive views and tastes, which fortunately complement each other most of the time. We both work in high profile decision making roles, and are used to getting out own way, and somehow we clashed over the most innocent of objects, a simple coffee table.

We must have visited nearly fifteen furniture stores, each of which had a great selection of coffee tables, and yes many of them had glass tops. I like to think of myself as modern in my interior design tastes, preferring the minimalist approach, clean sleek lines and practical designs. I like bright stainless steel and stylish vinyl.

My boyfriends ideas are, let us say, more traditional. I blame his upbringing in a house full of Victorian chintz. The tables he wanted to look at seemed to me quaint and dated, and I was glad we didn't spot any with lions feet as they would have been at the top of the wish list. He favored dark wood tables with too much detail and strange gold patterns. My choices were described by him, on the other hand, as boring, cold and characterless.

Of course, we ended up compromising on a table that neither of us particularly liked but at the same time neither found really offensive. This is how our entire house has ended up with mediocre furniture that is neither one style nor another and really does not give any clues as to the personality of the inhabitants.

The next excitement will be choosing a coffee maker to go with our coffee table. While I like those new stainless steel thermal machines that do everything for you except for brushing your teeth, my boyfriend will no doubt be eyeing up antique style coffee pots that burn the coffee but just have so much character. Perhaps in this instance we can shop separately and buy two, just to avoid the inevitable conflict. <bio>Jack Blacksmith wrote most often for http://www.coffee-espresso-maker-tips.com , an online publication covering information on espresso and cappuccino.
It's likely that the majority of stainless steel coffee makers are sold because they have that different look. The brushed stainless finish almost always looks nicer then a regular white plastic coffee maker, and glass carafe. Especially with the kitchens of today being extra stylish, and often having stainless steel appliances, don't we all want it to match?

What some people might not realize is that there is more to a stainless steel coffee maker then just another pretty face. There are specifically two key advantages I like about a stainless steel maker versus my old regular plastic glass carafe coffee maker. One is to do with replacement parts, the other to do with how my coffee tastes each morning.

Possibly you haven't done this, but leaving a glass carafe in the sink for a day then doing dishes that evening offers a pretty good chance you could crack that carafe. Especially if you're loading more dishes in on top of that carafe through the day. Of course we can all leave it on the counter, or in the coffee maker, but bottom line is coffee maker carafes aren't indestructible especially those made of glass.

A stainless steel coffee maker often comes with a stainless steel carafe. Guess what, really tough to break a stainless steel coffee carafe. You can drop it on the floor, leave it in the sink, some even put in the dish washer to reduce clean up time. I love it, can't beat something that I don't have to wash and I can't break it.

Now the second benefit of a stainless steel coffee maker also has to do with the carafe. Often times when I brew half a pot of coffee just for myself, I don't get around to drinking it all while it's fresh. The burner on the coffee maker tends to burn the coffee and reduce the taste and aroma, with a stainless carafe they're usually thermal as well. Meaning they don't require another heat source they keep the coffee warm inside by sealing in the warmth, and being insulated in the body. Just like a thermos you'd take to work with you.

Prices vary from under a hundred to several hundred dollars for a stainless coffee maker. All the major brands offer a stainless version of their top selling models including Cuisinart, Black and Decker, and Kitchen Aid. If you're shopping for a new drip coffee maker, be sure to consider a stainless steel model, and remember the extra few dollars it might cost isn't just for that sharp looking brushed stainless appearance it's for the added features to. <bio>To see some of the most popular stainless steel coffee makers take a moment to visit our website on coffee and espresso makers. http://www.espresso-and-coffee.com/coffee-makers/stainless-steel-coffee-maker/ </bio>

Do you remember not so long ago when there were only two choices of coffee available, either regular or decaf? Coffee drinking was pretty simple in those days. When you invited guests to your house the most you could offer them was a cup of black or white coffee.

Now days however, the world is a much bigger place offering a plethora of choice.

Coffee drinking has become a lot more sophisticated. Should you find yourself at your local coffee shop, you're sure to be confronted with an entire menu dedicated to a host of speciality flavors and blends that can be served either hot or cold.

Gourmet coffee has essentially come of age allowing those who like to indulge a wide array of choices of the finest tastes from all over the globe. As a rule gourmet coffee is generally more expensive than the regular types. However I am sure anyone who has tried some will agree it is well worth paying the bit extra for the uniquely enjoyable experience of tasting the different specialty blends. If you have never tried gourmet coffee, trust me you are really missing out on adult pleasures.

As times have changed so have people's tastes in coffee.

No doubt that is why coffee makers have become so popular with many people installing the machines in their kitchens so they can whip-up their favourite gourmet coffee in just minutes. But the old favorite coffee presses are still used everyday by loads of people just like me who adore their simplicity and easy, no fuss clean up and storage.

If you venture down to you local coffee house you are sure to gain an education of the number of ways coffee can be prepared. Gloria Jean's is one of my favourite coffee shops and some of their gourmet blends that might inspire you are butter toffee, creamy chocolate caramel, French vanilla supreme, Swiss chocolate almond, hazelnut and of course everyone's favourite Irish crème.

Coffee tasting can be a delightfully social experience and believe me you will never run out of varieties to try when as part of the selection there are coffees like amaretto, cookies and cream, chocolate macadamia and mudslide, just to name a few.

Today via the internet there is a huge variety of coffees available. If you are willing to be a bit adventurous I am sure you will find a gourmet brew that will appeal to your taste buds.

Sites are being set up as online coffee shops to sell the very best quality premium coffee blends from all around the world. Africa, South America, Italy, France and even New Orleans are just some of the places where these gourmet coffees originate.

If you are trying to find a great gift for that difficult to buy for relative or friend then why not put together a gift basket of speciality quality organic coffees. I am sure they will be thrilled -- you can't beat the taste sensation of a top gourmet brew. <bio>Author John -- the coffee connoisseur from 'Down Under".
Your coffee maker could be killing you. Well it is if your morning cup of coffee is a matter of life and death and you have a filthy coffee maker. When was the last time you thoroughly cleaned your coffee maker? Washing the pot is important but getting the internal components of a coffee maker clean is a task that shouldn't be skipped. Did you even know that you were supposed to clean it? A clean coffee maker can be the difference between a good cup of coffee and a nasty cup of sludge.

A clean coffee maker really makes a big difference in how your coffee tastes. Left over coffee oils can accumulate inside your coffee maker. Also mineral deposits can form especially in areas with hard water. These deposits are called "scale". There are two kinds of scale, lime scale and mineral scale and you don't want either one. Scale can affect the heating unit and the water flow of your coffee maker and reduce it's efficiency. How quickly scale forms depends on the quality of your drinking water. If you use bottled water to make your coffee, scale probably won't form as fast but you still have to worry about accumulated coffee oils. Better to play it safe and clean your coffee maker regularly.

Cleaning your coffee maker is not a hard task to accomplish and in fact it's as easy as making coffee. All you have to do is pour a pot of half vinegar and half water into the coffee maker's water reservoir. It goes without saying that white vinegar should be used. Steer clear of the red wine or apple cider vinegar varieties. Then just turn on the regular brew cycle. You're kitchen will probably have a nice salad smell while it's brewing which you may even like. If you're not a salad fan though, just remember that it's a small price to pay for a good cup of coffee.

Now rinse the coffee maker out by using only water this time in the water reservoir and running the brew cycle again. You may have to do this a few more times if you still smell vinegar.

Another easy way to keep the coffee maker clean is to put a glass marble in the water chamber. All the mineral deposits that would usually accumulate inside the coffee maker will instead accumulate on the marble. Every once in a while just remove the marble, wash it and then place it back in the chamber. How much easier could that be?

The best solution would be to clean your coffee maker with vinegar monthly while also using the marble method. Change the marble once a week and you're coffee maker will be in great shape.

If you have an old coffee maker and you aren't happy with the taste of it's brew, why not try cleaning it. A clean coffee maker will brew better tasting coffee. <bio>Anthony Tripodi is the webmaster of http://EndlessCoffeeBreak.com - The Guide To Coffee.
For millions of people a cup of coffee in the morning is the spark plug to get them started and able to face the battles they may encounter during the day. There are several different types of coffee one can choose from in order to suit their specific tastes. In addition, there are numerous different ways to prepare your coffee as well. You can either go to your local coffee shop or you can make your own cup of coffee at home. Most individuals brew their coffee with just an ordinary electronic coffee maker. However, there are better ways to make a good cup of coffee without spending big dollars on an extravagant cappuccino maker or something else equally expensive that are difficult to master and keep in good working condition. These expensive machines become outdated requiring you to purchase a new one every couple of years. The French press was invented over a hundred years ago. It has received a few improvements over the years but remains relatively the same today.

One of the best ways to prepare coffee is by using a French press coffee maker. A French press coffee maker is perfectly named for what it does. The basic operation of how it functions goes like this: You add your coffee grinds into the pot and then you add the boiling water. You then you are ready to begin applying the pressure on the plunging type tool which presses down on the coffee, filtering out the grinds with the screen on the plunging tool and brewing up a tasty cup of wonderful coffee. It really is that easy. You might be wondering what the benefit of a French press coffee maker, so let me tell you. French press coffee makers produce a stronger cup of coffee then would your traditional electric coffee maker. This is great for those who like their coffee full of that robust coffee flavor. It is recommended that you drink your cup of coffee right away, while it is still piping hot, to get the best results.

Coffee to most people is as routine as brushing your teeth in the morning. When using a French press coffee maker, you save quite a bit of time because it does not require the time it takes an electric coffee maker to brew a fresh pot. Because it does not require electricity, you can take it with you anywhere you go and prepare a fresh cup of coffee wherever you are. Even when you are camping in the wilderness you can have a rich and robust cup of coffee freshly pressed. While in west Africa recently, far from the comforts of home, we were able to have coffee prepared in a French press. This made the trip bearable and mornings there worth jumping out of bed. Coffee is the fuel for countless people. If you are one of these coffee addicts and like a full flavored type coffee, consider a French press coffee maker and see taste the difference. Once you try it, you will be a French press convert. <bio>Written by David Swanson.
Ahhhh coffee! It is one of the true joys in life, where a deep robust smell, thick crema and evocative flavor can transport us out of the hum-drum of every day living to a café in Italy. Indeed most people can't get through the day without their morning cup of coffee, and for coffee-lovers finding that perfect latte or espresso can be both a pleasure and a disappointment.

After all, how many times have you lined up, drooling at your local cafe, only to come away with a tepid, flavorless and utterly forgettable coffee that you would rather have rather gone without. Trying to find a decent cup of coffee really can drive coffee aficionados to fits of rage.

Making your own coffee at home is the perfect solution to the problem. In fact, we can all be world class baristas in the comfort of our own home if we invest in a good coffee maker, then master the equipment.

The first thing you need to think about is how many people you are likely to be making coffee for. The cup capacity of every coffee brewer, machine or percolator is an obvious, but often overlooked, consideration. If you only expect to be making coffee for two people on a regular basis, you are best off investing more money in a quality elite model two-cup machine, and for the rest of the time make do with a cheaper larger capacity plunger for emergencies or entertaining.

The sort of coffee you drink will also determine what sort of coffee-maker you buy. For example, you have a choice of filter drip machines; French drip filter machines (which do not use a paper filter); stove stop percolators; and counter top espresso machines. These days, counter top espresso machines are becoming more and more popular since they allow us to foam milk for lattes and cappuccinos like larger commercial machines do. So if you are a cappuccino freak, you will want one of these beauties!

With so many coffee connoisseurs amongst us, buying the right coffee maker is an important decision. Getting a quality coffee maker that suits your needs and tastes can really make the difference between starting the day on top of the world, or grumbling into another lackluster Styrofoam cup of weak coffee. <bio>Rachel Harris writes for http://coffeevisa.com, a website packed with coffee articles and resources </bio>

While some people only drink coffee in order to wake up in the morning, others are very selective about the coffee that they drink. If you fall in the latter category, you should try gourmet coffee. This coffee comes from beans that have been grown around the world and then made into flavored coffee drinks, using special preparation techniques.

These types of flavored coffee are actually causing people to stand up and take notice of this beverage especially as people's tastes evolve. While they start out drinking coffee that has a lot of cream and sugar in them, over time they will put less and less cream and sugar and may even start to drink it black. With all of the different choices of flavored coffee available, maybe it is time for you to try something new.

Brief History of Flavored Coffee

In the 1990s, flavored coffee became very popular. However, this type of coffee can actually be traced back several centuries to the Turks. Over time, a lot of people have developed strong feelings about this type of coffee; either they love it or they hate it and only want to drink naturally flavored coffee.

Flavored coffee is made by adding flavored oils to the beans after they have been roasted and before they have been ground. Another way in which this coffee can be made is by adding liquid flavors to the coffee while it is being prepared, in much the same was as cream and sugar are added.

Types of Flavors

Generally speaking, there are four categories of this type of coffee. The first category includes flavors based upon spices such as clove, cinnamon, anise, and cardamom. Next, there are also some coffee flavors that are based upon fruits such as coconut or raspberry. Chocolate based flavors are the next type with the most common being chocolate mint. Lastly, some flavors are based upon nuts like vanilla, hazelnut or macadamia nuts. Cr=E8me coffees also have their share of followers; these include flavors such as Irish Creme or French Vanilla coffee.

As you can see, there are a lot of different ways in which coffee can be prepared. There are also dark roast, light roast, espresso and regular coffee. After deciding on the blend, flavor and the roast, you have the option of drinking it black or with cream and sugar added. <bio>Roland Jefferson is an online researcher based out of Los Angeles, Calfornia.
Did you know that coffee is the primary part of dietary antioxidants? Now let's be clear: that does not mean that your morning coffee is a substitute for fruits and vegetables. But serious java drinkers will surely get a jolt from the news that coffee is a top resource of disease-fighting antioxidants. Current analysis reveals that, taken in moderation, coffee is a safe beverage that may even offer some health benefits. You may see some additional coffee related information at http://www.fmcoffee.com.

Coffee is one of the few beverages that is consumed world-wide. It is consumed in most countries of the world and coffee is the second most widely traded commodity in the world (behind petroleum) and one of the most widely consumed beverages. It may be a world commodity that is second only to oil, but an excellent cup of coffee tastes a lot better than an excellent cup of petroleum. And, in today's world of high fuel prices, a lot more fun to consume.

So, can we call coffee a health foodstuff? Well, that may be stretching it! Caffeine, which is the andquot;gutsandquot; of the coffee, is one of the world's most widely used drugs, and it has been part of the human diet for centuries.

Caffeine is one heck of a stimulant and is the element that gives coffee and many other beverages their jolt. It is definitely a central-nervous-system stimulant. It acts as a mild stimulant to the central nervous system and both regular and decaf coffee can irritate the stomach. Drinking caffeine in boundless amounts as coffee or tea (which may actually have more caffeine than coffee) over a short period of time has been shown to raise blood sugar. So if you are prone to blood sugar issues, beware! And, if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, lower your current caffeine intake to less than 300 milligrams a day or three cups of coffee. Or, to be safe, cut it out altogether.

But you should be able to look forward to a early-day cup for reasons beyond the caffeine rush. The general conclusion is that moderate amounts of caffeine do not lead to arrhythmias and drinking a modest account of coffee should not increase your risk. Check with your health professional to be sure, though.

So, is coffee injurious? Surely you should be aware that some experts argue that coffee is bad for you. And nobody is saying coffee is entirely benign. But if you have reasonable health and enjoy drinking coffee, an excellent cup of coffee is worth it. But remember, coffee is not for everyone.

Well, I must go. I need to refill my cup of coffee. <bio>Yvonne Volante, the author, is a big fan of coffee and writes for fmcoffee.com, which is the premier coffee resource on the internet.
In order to make a really good espresso coffee, it is important that the coffee beans are ground in the correct manner. How finely they need to be ground depends on the brewing method used; if these two aspects are not properly matched, the full aromatic flavour will not be extracted and the cup of coffee produced will be substandard - coffee beans that are too finely ground will produce coffee that tastes overly bitter, whilst too-coarse beans will produce weak, bland and insipid coffee.

Buying your own coffee grinder, therefore, can be a fantastic investment: you have full control over the grinding process, and have the distinct advantage that you can grind the beans yourself just before they are to be brewed (this is recommended in order to achieve the best cup of coffee possible. If beans are ground more than a couple of minutes immediately before brewing, they can become stale and the flavour will be impaired).

When you buy a coffee grinder online, make sure that you do enough research to understand what you are buying. The range of grinders offered by different web sites can vary immensely from company to company, and of course the price will fluctuate too. The two main varieties of coffee grinder are burr grinders and blade grinders: burr grinders grind the coffee using a mill-like action, and tend to grind very evenly and cleanly, whilst blade grinders actually chop the bean into pieces at a much faster speed than burr grinders, resulting in coffee grinds of varying evenness, and producing a dust that can clog up espresso machines.

Whichever machine you opt for, ensure you choose a web site that allows you to shop securely, and make sure you take into account the shipping charge when making your purchase. It can also be useful to buy a machine that offers a warranty, just in case anything goes wrong. <bio>Jin Ee recommends http://www.cofcaf.co.uk/ for buying coffee grinders online. </bio>
