Want to brew the perfect cup of coffee?

Here are 3 simple tips that will make a difference in every single cup you drink.

Tip #1 Clean Coffee Pot

A clean pot is essential and can make a world of difference in the taste of your coffee. Old oils from previous batches of coffee and soap residue left on the pot makes coffee taste bad.

Baking soda and water work well for cleaning coffee mugs and pots. Be sure to rinse extra good so no residue is left behind.

Tip #2 Clean Filtered Water

The water you use for your coffee will affect the taste more than anything. Coffee is 99% water so use clean filtered or bottled water free from chlorine and other minerals that will affect the taste of your coffee.

Using stainless steel or gold mesh filters instead of paper filters will also make your coffee taste better. Paper filters release dyes, chlorine and bleach that affect taste. If you insist on using paper filters buy the unbleached, brown paper filters.

Tip #3 Use Fresh Quality Coffee

Quality coffee costs more but will consistently produce better tasting coffee.

For the best results use quality, whole bean coffee and grind the coffee beans just prior to use. You might think it's an inconvenience compared to ground coffee, but once you taste the difference you'll never go back.

If you still want to use ground coffee, make sure you use a good, drip grind coffee.

Use 2 level tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water. This can be adjusted for individual taste preference. Make sure to spread the grounds evenly in the coffee filter so full brewing is achieved.

Drink your fresh coffee right away for the best flavor. Coffee will break down quickly if left on a heat source. Coffee should never be reheated or microwaved.

A clean, preheated air pot or stainless steel Thermos will keep coffee hot for about an hour without hurting the flavor.

If you follow these 3 simple tips, every cup you brew will be perfect coffee. <bio>JH Reynolds is a coffee enthusiast who travels around the world in search of the best beans and exotic flavors.
Freshly Roasted, Ground And Put Into A Paper Packet

Most coffee lovers will agree that nothing beats the taste of percolated coffee. Especially the wonderful smell when it is brewed first thing in the morning. It is this reason why so many people are turning to the relatively new sensation of coffee pods. The taste of fresh coffee changes considerably from the often used dry instant coffee.

The aroma alone tells you that the coffee is not fresh and therefore you will automatically know that you are not getting the best out of coffee. Most coffee machines are relatively cheap these days and you don't have to spend a pretty penny just because you want the real taste of coffee. It seems that with ethical issues on the rise most people are opting for the fair trade coffee pods.

People often want to shy away from coffee pods or coffee making machines because they have a concern that it might take too long or is rather expensive. Fortunately these concerns can be viewed as myths as anyone can enjoy freshly ground java.

The convenience and ease of making coffee that is delivered by the coffee pod makes it a must have for all coffee lovers. For the morning rush you can put on a fresh cup using your coffee pods just before you go shower so you can have a fresh cup waiting when you're done. Automated coffee-making machines are standard equipment in most homes these days. Now you can customize your daily brew to coincide with your mood by taking advantage of single serving coffee makers. They wake you up to the wonderful smell of coffee aromas. So there is no excuse for missing out.

Gourmet Espresso In Coffee Pods

The love of coffee absolutely extends to the wonderful taste of espresso. So it's clear why so many people are keen on these coffee pods. There are a couple of different types of pods systems out there for you to choose from. The first is the Senseo pod system which uses a single serving, pre-measured coffee filled filter to make the perfect cup whenever you like. Another popular single serving system is Keurig brewing system. Their patented K-cups deliver over 130 varieties of gourmet coffee in less than 60 seconds. Plus there is no mess to clean up. The coffee club fanatics hail the coffee pod and k-cup systems as the greatest invention since coffee machines and it is not hard to see why.

Once you have had a taste of great gourmet coffee, especially espresso coffee, you might find it hard to drink anything else for your morning cup of joe. It can be sometimes hard to get the espresso right as it entails so many components such as water temperature, perfect grind and so on. However with the coffee pods even the most inexperienced coffee maker will perform like a professional. It is not hard to understand why the coffee pods are a hit on the coffee scene in a big way.<bio>For more coffee related articles, recipes, videos and all the best coffee deals, visit www.MustGetCoffee.com/blog.</bio>

If you happen to be an ardent coffee lover, there could not be a better way to enjoy a mug of coffee than brewing coffee beans on your own. And making coffee out of these self-roasted beans would be a fulfilling experience. I bet! You would love to have and offer others this self brewed coffee.

If you think I am kidding with you, then you need to think again. A good number of home coffee roasters are on the block and are quite easy to operate. You can buy home one such roaster to enjoy the perfect cup of coffee with self brewed and roasted coffee beans. Every morning you can roast beans as per your requirement and enjoy the mug full of coffee with your desired taste. What a fantastic way to greet the day!

Although these roasters offered for home use happen to be a bit pricey, but this cost could be borne for your urge to enjoy perfect cup of coffee every morning. Moreover you get liberty to roast as per your taste. If you are not willing to enjoy a strong cup of coffee you can roast it for comparatively lesser time, you can also do it vice a versa.

But coffee brewing is an art that you will have to learn gradually, otherwise you would end up destroying processed beans that you have bought for roasting.

These home coffee roasters are comparatively small in size and are run by a computerized mechanism. They also possess a display unit to show level of heat given to beans.

After buying one such roaster you are up to a task of choosing right quality beans which you can easily do by paying a visit to a nearby gourmet store. You can buy beans in bulk but the container in which you would store beans must be air tight.

You may get information booklet or brochure with the roaster at the time of buying that would help you in providing only required heating to the beans. <bio>The author writes about a number of different topics.
When you are cooking you know that using the best ingredients and the best pots and pans can help you to cook the most delicious meals and when you are used to good quality products it has to expand to other things, like the beverages you drink and certainly the coffee that you drink. With coffee it is in fact the same as with cooking, if you want a great tasting coffee you need the best beans (the ingredients) and the best coffee maker (the pots and pans) and when you have that, you can make the best coffee ever.

For that perfect cup of coffee, when you first wake up in the morning, you need to find the best beans that is not that hard especially when you buy and look for it online. Just sample and taste the different kinds of coffee and buy the one that you like. But you also need the best coffee maker and that can be a bit harder.

Finding the right beans is a bit subjective, the beans need to fit your taste. Well with the best coffee maker it is in fact the same way, it is also very subjective. It all depends on your taste, lifestyle, budget and eye for design. People make different choices and that is a good thing, it would be a very boring world if we all prefer the same. There are however common grounds on which we decide what would be the best coffee maker for us.

Pure simple coffee

For the purist among us the best coffee maker ever made is a French press. According to them this kind of coffee is pure and all other coffee makers are just fancy. It is true that coffee made with a French press is rich in flavor, you can buy it anywhere and it does not break easily in fact it is just a glass jar with a plunger. You just need to put the (freshly grinded) coffee grounds in the jar and fill it further with hot boiling water. After that you need to give the brew a couple of minutes to get ready and then push the plunger down. This way you will get a strong concentrated flavor and if that is exactly what you like, you do not have to look any further this is the best coffee maker for you. It does not cost much and you can try out some gourmet coffee beans to experiment with this pure strong flavored coffee.

Coffee makers for the everyday user

If you drink a lot of coffee a French press is probably not a good choice for you. There are many other choices but we would like to bring the common coffee drip brewers at your attentions, because it is not fashionable any more to like these kind of machines while they in fact are the best coffee makers available. It is not just coincidental that these kind of coffee makers are used in almost all office pantries. These machines are reliable and can make a real good cup of coffee.

You need to look around for the more expensive models that have paid attention to details like the temperature and the amount of water used. If you buy a coffee drip brewer you do not want the ones that makes a lot of coffee at one time and keeps it heated in the carafe for a long time. The first cup is good but the last few cups taste awful.

What type of machine you buy is totally up to your taste, just make sure that you buy the best coffee maker of its kind and the best beans you can get.<bio>Kenny Vanderburen loves to write about his one passion, cooking.
Making good coffee isn't as simple as just setting your coffee machine. Making bad coffee is much easier to make, but if you want the best cup of coffee then you need to take care of certain things before you pour the first drop.

If you want the best brew then make sure you have cold water in your machine. Don't use water that is hot or has been boiled already, if you want even superior results than use cold water that has been filtered or is bottled. If your home has old pipes and nasty tasting water than this can further affect the taste of your coffee. If your town has a lot of chlorine in the water or if it is very hard this can also affect the taste of your coffee.

The temperature of the water is key to the brewing process. 195 to 205 degrees is the best temperature to make sure that your coffee is brewed properly. If the water is too hot it can cause the coffee to be bitter, but if it is too cold then it won't absorb the flavor properly from the coffee grounds. Try Bunn Coffee Makers for a product that has great temperature levels.

If you are pressing your coffee then wait until the second after it boils to use your water. If you pre-heat your coffee pot this can also help in terms of using an automatic machine to get the same effect. Pour hot water into the pot and the dump out the water before you start brewing to get the temperature just right.

Make sure the grind you are using is right using your coffee maker. There is no one coffee bean grind that is good for everything. You should choose a grind based on whether you are using a press pot or an automatic coffee pot.
There's nothing quite like a cup of coffee in the morning. The aroma alone seems to wake you up and fill you with energy.

How do you like your coffee? There are so many varieties anymore that it's hard to choose. It may even take an entire lifetime to taste all the kinds of coffee available today.

Where do you think the perfect cup would come from: a coffee maker or a person?

Coffee drinkers use coffee makers for the convenience these machines offer. Some critics, however, claim that the appliances sacrifice some of the taste. Recent innovations in coffee maker technology, however, try to prove the critics wrong.

Coffee makers now prepare each cup with amazing accuracy, getting the temperature right, the timing down to a split-second and the ingredients measured to near-perfection. Designed to make the best possible cup of coffee, these smart coffee makers make each cup as delicious as possible.

Regardless, coffee makers are still machines. And machines can only accomplish so much.

Coffee makers are confined by their functions. Beyond their functions, they can do nothing else. They can't customize each cup of coffee to fit your character; they make each cup the same way. Some people are comforted by the fact that each cup the coffee maker brews will turn out exactly the same. But are you?

Isn't uniqueness a part of living? And don't our little quirks determine who we are? Do we not all have an ideal blend of coffee in our minds?

Coffee makers do not really take that imagined ideal into account. They simply make a cup of coffee considered by their designers to be andquot;perfect.andquot;

They are nothing more than tools, needing human guidance and input. And machines also have the inclination to break down. A coffee maker will, eventually, stop making that andquot;perfectandquot; cup of coffee.

How about a barista? Who are baristas?

A barista is a person dedicated to creating the perfect cup of coffee for the right person. They blend, brew, taste, test and do everything they can do ensure that your coffee is just right. They innovate, always thinking of new ways to delight you with that ever-flavorful coffee bean.

They are also human, so every cup will be unique -- a flavor infused with the humanity of the barista. However, their humanity is also a limitation. Unlike a coffee maker, baristas can't just start making coffee whenever you want them to. You can't just turn on a barista at any time of the day and tell the person to make you coffee.

Also, being human makes the barista imperfect. Unlike coffee makers, baristas cannot be preprogrammed to make the exact same cup of coffee every time.

Sometimes, the quirks of a barista make the coffee taste horrible. But sometimes, the barista includes just enough human quirks to make the cup just perfect. When you think about it, the coffee maker is necessary to modern baristas. They need all the help they can get, if they want to succeed.

Coffee makers and baristas work mutually. The barista chooses the ingredients, finds the right flavors for the right people and guarantees that the coffee will turn out with the quirks and personality of each person. The coffee maker takes those ingredients and transforms them into what the barista envisions -- the right cup for the right person. <bio>Dorothy Miller contributes to several online magazines, such as http://mibow.com and http://himug.com </bio>

If you're a newcomer to buying coffee beans, you may think it seems confusing as to what type to buy. But follow the three simple steps below and you'll be an expert in no time!

Step 1: Decide what type of beans you want. Coffee beans are generally classified according to the region they are grown in, which affects the taste. The two main types are arabica and robusta: arabica is a higher-quality bean and is usually fuller in flavour than robusta, however this does tend to be reflected in price, so if you are on a very tight budget you may want to try robusta beans to begin with.

Step 2: Choose the taste and aroma characteristics that you want from your coffee. When you read descriptions of coffee beans, you will notice that they are often described in terms of flavour, aroma, body and acidity. The best way that you can get to grips with the different aspects of taste and aroma is to try out as many different types of coffee as possible. You will then develop your own favourites and be able to decide for yourself which types will be bestsellers for your business.

Step 3: Find a reputable coffee bean dealer that suits you. Once you know what you are looking for, you can pick a company to buy your beans from. If you decide to buy your coffee beans online (often a quicker and easier alternative to buying them from a shop), make sure the website that you buy from allows you to shop securely, and read their privacy policy carefully.

One other thing to remember is that no matter how high the quality of the bean, the flavour of the coffee can still be impaired by grinding or brewing incorrectly, so make sure that you follow the recommendations of the manufacturers when subjecting the beans to these processes. <bio>Jin Ee sings the praises of http://www.cofcaf.co.uk/ for the quality of its coffee beans. </bio>

When you heard the word 'coffee' do you automatically get a pain in your chest? If you don't then you are one of the lucky ones, but for millions of coffee drinkers this is not the case. Many people can't drink their favorite brew without fear of heartburn.

Since coffee is popular all the world over its hard for those who suffer from heartburn to be left out of enjoying this delicious beverage. The flavor and aroma are so inviting that some of us risk heart burn to enjoy a beverage hot from their home or office's one cup coffee makers.

Why does coffee give us heartburn? Heartburn is caused by stomach acids leaking into the esophagus where they are not supposed to be! When the esophagus lining comes into contact by these stomach acids then the lining get irritates and this acid causes heartburn.

Caffeine is a main reason behind heartburn. Your body will produce more acid when you are drinking something caffeinated and this extra acid from your stomach will go into the lower esophageal sphincter. Coffee has loads of caffeine and makes heartburn even worse.

A new technology called, Hevla technology, may hold some relief for all of those who suffer from caffeine induced heartburn.

The Hevla process steams coffee beans at a high pressure and this removes caffeine without getting rid of the great taste and aroma. This can help people to enjoy coffee without the caffeine and without the heartburn.

Using the Hevla technique to remove the caffeine in coffee you still get the highest quality coffee and best flavor. In the world of science and health this is a great feat. Now we can enjoy coffee and be heartburn free.

Once this new Hevla coffee hits a supermarket near you than people will be able to resume their coffee habits without ever worrying about heartburn again. You will still get that great taste from your machine without the pain! You won't have to worry that you are sacrificing great taste for decaf. You'll know you are getting premium coffee that is safe for you to drink. <bio>Peter J. A coffee grinder has also become a popular home appliance as the popularity of espresso and other coffee drinks has risen in the last two decades. Even the large number of coffee shops has not diminished the need of many coffee drinkers to grind their own beans in a coffee grinder.

A coffee grinder will grind roasted coffee beans into grounds that are either fine or coarse. By grinding your own coffee, you choose how you want the grounds.

A coffee grinder can produce fine or medium grounds which are best for traditional coffee makers. Those who love espresso will want to grind the beans into a fine grounds, which is similar to sugar or salt. Coarse coffee grounds are good for percolators or vacuum brewers.

A coffee grinder comes in two main types. The first type of coffee grinder uses rotating metal blades. These blades on the coffee grinder chop up the coffee beans.

The bladed coffee grinder allows the consumer to control the type of grounds. The type of grounds the bladed coffee grinder makes depends on how long you grind the beans.

Another type of coffee grinder uses a grinder wheel. This is called a burr grinder. To get coarse or fine grounds, you move the burr on the coffee grinder. Many people say this type of coffee grinder allows you more control as to the type of grounds you make.

The cost of the burr grinder depends on the type of wheel, whether it is flat or cone-shaped. The burr coffee grinder with the cone-shaped wheel rotates slowly and the coffee grinder will clog less.

You can chose a coffee grinder that works in two different ways. The electric coffee grinder is the most popular coffee grinder on the market today. Many electric coffee grinders are small and inexpensive so you can carry them anywhere to grind your perfect cup of coffee.

The advantages to grinding your own coffee with a coffee grinder are many. You can grind coffee that suits your taste and not rely on pre-packaged coffee grounds.

A coffee grinder can be found in most retail stores and online auction sites. A coffee grinder will range in price from about $20 to several hundred dollars. The coffee beans can be purchased at a grocery store or at a specialty coffee shop.

How you want your coffee to taste and the type of coffee you brew will determine the type of coffee grinder you will need to purchase.
A good cup of coffee is like fine wine and good quality cigars. There are various different types of coffee beans and these determine the flavors that the blend presents for the coffee connoisseur.

Many coffee makers blend a combination of the lower cost Robusta beans with the more expensive Arabica gourmet beans. The Arabica beans have a finer aroma, a richer flavor and more body than the less expensive beans.

The quality of the coffee is dependant on the proportions of the mix of these beans. Quite often a coffee might be advertised as a blend of gourmet beans and lower grade beans when in fact there are only small traces of the gourmet beans in the blend.

The gourmet beans gain much of their flavor from the soils they are grown in, with the best beans coming from the volcanic regions where the rich soils produce the best tasting beans.

Coffee should always be made from fresh beans as the quality diminishes rapidly with age. This is quite noticeable when comparing a supermarket grade coffee with a coffee made from freshly ground beans at a coffee shop. Bear in mind that the supermarket coffees generally have a lower blend quality and in many cases the blends also have a proportion of older beans to reduce the production costs.

The only way you can be assured of quality and taste is to buy fresh gourmet quality. Once you have acquired the taste for gourmet coffee you might never want to drink commercial grade coffee again.

You can buy coffee from many different regions throughout the world and each one has it's own unique flavor.

Coffee aficionados can pick the region where the coffee bean was grown just by tasting it. The method of processing the beans also has an effect on the final flavor so you can't always assume that a coffee will be good just because it came from a particular region.

Coffee is one of the world's most popular beverages and more suppliers are catering to the needs of an ever-growing demand. <bio>Graeme Ramsey is a freelance writer on many different topics. http://www.coffee-facts.info </bio>

The quality of a coffee bean depends vastly on where and how that particular coffee bean is grown.

Grind

By grinding your own coffee beans, you'll be able to only grind what you need, meaning that you will have complete freshness in your coffee. The best way to do this is to buy the whole bean in batches and grind them with yur own grinding machine as you need it. But be careful: The type of coffee grind that you use is critical in order to properly match the type of brewing method you will be using. Be sure to ask your coffee merchant which grind is best for you. <bio>Yvonne Volante, the author, is a big fan of gourmet coffee and writes for fmcoffee.com, which is the premier coffee resource on the internet.
If you have ever tried to agree on furniture with your wife, you will understand my plight when we had to pick out a coffee table together. We had shopped together for other things before, but the only thing we ever agreed upon was our coffee maker. Everything else is a battle compared to shopping for that first coffee machine.

My wife and I are both type A professionals with strong convictions and strong tastes and not afraid to voice either. We usually are able to let the other have enough space to create and function in their own way, but when it comes to our common space, we both have a lot to say about it. We have had some major battles about the furniture in the living room , how to arrange it, what color each room should be painted, what accessories to buy, etc. This is exactly what happened when we decided we needed to have a new glass topped coffee table.

There are at least a dozen stores that sell glass topped coffee tables in our immediate vicinity, and we went to each one. In all of these, there was not one table that suited the both of us. I have good taste, if I may say so, and prefer clean modern lines; an table that is elegant and fencing at once. We also had to consider the size of the living room it was going into. My wife prefers furniture that is more elaborate and detailed, bordering on rococo. Every thing she liked looked overly ornate and vulgar to me. She was probably looking for a table with claw feet and curlicues on the surface. The type of tables she liked might have looked fine in Palace of Versailles, but not in my living room.

It was one of the worst confrontations my wife and I have ever had. We tend to be histrionic in our fights in any case, and our fights are worthy of novels in and of themselves. I remembered the last big row we had, and I didn't want to experience something like that again. Over a house or a car, perhaps, but over a coffee table?

Compromise ruled, and we ended up with a table neither of us likes, a little of her taste, a little of my taste and a lot of somebody else's. <bio>Jack Blacksmith is writing predominantly for http://www.coffee-espresso-maker-tips.com , an online publication covering information on espresso and cappuccino.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to enjoy gourmet coffee all the time? If you were to try and get your hands on gourmet coffee, it might cost you up to five dollars a cup, but with the right knowledge and equipment you can make it yourself at home. Coffee from Central America has a smooth acidity and easy drinking taste. This makes gourmet coffee a superb choice over regular coffees.

1. Get A Machine

The trick to brewing great coffee is a great coffee machine. There are still the old- fashioned drip machines, that are one of the easiest types to use for beginners and coffee experts alike. Of course, for the hard- core experts we have the old- fashioned presses and hand brew machines, that are back in favor. Then you have the newest technology, the pod coffee machines. These are like a European coffeehouse machine, infusing hot water through coffee pads. Also, then for espresso lovers, there are pressurized steam espresso makers.

2. Filters

Make sure, whatever machine you use, to also shop for the proper filter to put between it and your gourmet coffee. The best filters are gold, nylon, or some other permanent filter material. Thats because permanent filters allow most all of the flavor molecules from the coffee grinds to make it into the water.

3. Best Brew

A superior brew doesn't just taste better, it will also perform better. Having more time in your day to focus on other things is a great opportunity. Great coffee should not just taste great, it should also be highly caffinated to get you up in the morning. Of course, it should also be low in sugar - try using sugar replacements instead.

4. Coffee History

Coffee has its history back as far as the 9th century CE. It was said to originate from Ethiopia and spread to the rest of the world via Egypt and Europe. Over the ages, coffee has met both resistance and acceptance by many.

The word Coffee is derived from the Arabic word Kahweh, which originally meant wine or other intoxicating liquors. Partly due to the Islamic prohibition on drinking wine, preparing and drinking coffee became an important social ritual. In 1511 it was condemned at Mecca by a theological court. In Egypt coffeehouses and warehouses containing coffee berries were sacked. <bio>For more great coffee related articles and resources check out http://superiorcoffee.info </bio>

If you are a selective coffee drinker like myself, then most likely already know that whole bean coffee is definitely the way to go. Whole bean coffee stays fresh much longer, and if you brew it right after grinding it you get a flavor you simply can't get from pre-ground coffee that's been sitting around for a short time. Even only mediocre whole bean coffee brands taste pretty good if brewed right after grinding.

One can find some of the best whole bean coffee in Costa Rica. As an area well-known for its coffee, I was keen to try some genuine Costa Rican brews during my visit there last year and I was totally blown away when I did. Despite the fact that I wanted to make the experience last as long as possible, I obviously carried as much coffee back with me as I could fit in my suit case. Knowing for a fact that the freshness is much better preserved when the beans are yet to be ground, I only brought back whole bean coffee to make it last longer. When I got home, I quickly put three of the four bags I had bought into the freezer, and left the other out for immediate use. Whenever I crushed that whole bean coffee it transported me right back to Costa Rica, and I was in a coffee-drinkers haven for the next couple of months. It's a good thing I didn't bring back already ground coffee; it would have lost a lot of its unique flavor.

At the same time the problem with whole bean coffee is that you have to grind it, which means you need to buy a coffee grinder. Moreover, coffee grinders can be a pain to clean, and it's just an extra step you have to take before enjoying your coffee. If the flavor isn't really that important to you, and/or you are running out of time or patience, whole bean coffee probably won't appeal to you that much. The majority coffee drinkers I know don't even have a coffee grinder; scooping out coffee 'powder' into a machine and pushing a button is the extent of their coffee making experience. Of course, there is something nice about just being able to add some already ground coffee in a machine and having a pot brewed in just a couple of minutes with not much effort. For this reason, I usually keep both whole bean coffee and already ground coffee on hand. For times when I'm in a rush, I use the ground coffee, and if I've got time to relax I'll grind up some fresh whole bean coffee to savor its taste. <bio>James L.
We all need that jolt of caffeine that you get from a good cup of coffee in the morning. But many times, during the day, the urge for a nice cup of tasty coffee hits, and of course we frequently like a relaxing cup after dinner. Some people can't drink coffee at night because the caffeine keeps them awake, and for others it is worth having, even if they are going to be tossing and turning and staring at the clock. I am sensitive to caffeine, so even a can of soda after a certain time of night will have me counting sheep. The only solution for me and others like me is to make sure we have decaffeinated coffee in the kitchen. The coffee urge can be satisfied by putting decaf in that old coffee maker, without paying the price of a sleepless night.

If I find I am out of decaf coffee, there is always the local Dunkin Donuts. A quick stop at the local Dunkin Donuts yields a cup of coffee that is every bit as good as caffeinated, but doesn't have the same effect on the body's system. A nice change of pace on a hot summer evening is iced coffee, but if, like me, you will be bothered by the caffeine, you can get decaffeinated iced coffee.

Where does the caffeine come from. Caffeine occurs naturally in the coffee bean, and it takes a special water extracting system to remove the caffeine from the molecule. It is an exacting science, with each coffee manufacturer claiming to have their unique, and best system for creating decaffeinated coffee. I don't really care how it comes about, as long as I can enjoy my delicious cup of Java without the sleepless side effects of regular coffee.

There is little to no difference between the taste of regular and decaffeinated coffee. As a matter of fact, since I can't tell the difference, I am always concerned that I will get a cup of regular even though I have ordered decaf; since I can't taste the difference, I won't know until it is too late. That's one reason I prefer to keep my own decaffeinated coffee at home and not have to worry about somebody making such a mistake. I can't risk my much needed sleep. The opposite can also happen, that I order (and need) a strong cup of caffeinated coffee and end up with decaf because the counter girl was just as sleepy as I was. There's a real bummer, pay $4-$5 for a cup of coffee and not even get the jolt I need to start the day! Well, caffeinated or decaf, I need my coffee. <bio>Peter J.
You've decided to switch to specialty coffee. You've made a bold move to enter the realm of the tastiest, freshest coffee around. Specialty coffee typically has gone from the roaster to your cup as fast as humanly possible. After all, coffee is a perishable and delicate commodity. Its peak taste has a very short life span. It will weaken with time, air exposure, and exposure to moisture. Speed in the entire coffee process, from when the beans were picked right up to when your machine brews your pot, is essential.

Because specialty coffee is an especially perishable item with a very limited shelf life, try to keep it as fresh as possible when you get it home. Store it in airtight containers or in a sealed coffee bag like the kind from the supermarket or gourmet store where you bought the coffee. Heat, light, air and moisture can all diminish your coffee's flavor. That's because all of these factors speed up the release of the coffee's aromatic gases over time. Refrigerating or freezing the coffee may slow this process, but only if the coffee hasnot yet been exposed to air. Opened coffee that is later frozen will build up condensation from the moisture in the air, and the coffee will end up tasting worse than if it had not been frozen at all.

Also, make certain to grind your specialty coffee immediately before brewing. Coffee beans are like little containers that store the coffee oils and aromatic compounds. The flavor is exposed to air and moisture once a bean is ground. If brewing doesn't occur right away, the precious flavor and aroma can be lost. In other words, grinding coffee at home is the second most important step to getting the most out of your coffee.

The third step is knowing exactly how long a time to allow your specialty coffee to brew. If you let water contact the grounds for too long, your coffee would end with an excessively bitter flavor. In contrast, if you let water contact the grounds for too short a time, your coffee may not reach its full flavor potential.

The final step in delicious specialty coffee brewing comes after your coffee is finished brewing. Don't allow your coffee to sit on a burner or hotplate too long afterward. Any longer than 20 minutes is too long because the coffee's taste would start to become bitter. Your taste buds, and your stomach, will appreciate it. <bio>Linda Johnson contributes to several online magazines, including http://products-resources.com and http://duned.com </bio>
