Honestly, if you asked me to tell you a few things about San Antonio I really wouldn't know where to start from! San Antonio is the crossroad of countless nations, cultures and traditions. This beautiful, unique city carries the flavor and sounds of Native Americans, the aggressive and lonely spirit of Wild West as well as the beautiful and creative culture of African Americans. In fact, the city has had such a polyphonic history that if I keep telling you about all of its influences you will barely have any time to read about the actual city!

The first thing that you need to have in mind about San Antonio is that no matter how long you plan to stay in it, you will never get bored; seriously, if you have the chance to prolong your stay there for a few more days then definitely go for it!

The very first place that you should visit while exploring San Antonio is the Riverwalk area. This is probably the most popular activity for the majority of the 20+ million visitors that San Antonio hosts every year. Depending on the time that you will visit the Riverwalk area you will either enjoy a quiet morning stroll or you will be lost inside the colorful bazaar of people during the late evening hours.

Of course, being such a historical city that San Antonio is, it wouldn't be possible for you not to pay a visit to the local museums and the various historical sites. Then again, if history doesn't fascinate you that much you can always visit places such as the Central Public Library or the San Antonio Zoo.

Finally, when the time to taste some of San Antonio's night life has come, you'd better hold off lots of energy for your nighttime exodus! As soon as the beautiful sunset of San Antonio is gone, the city changes its face completely; it's like a unified celebration of people where everybody goes out to have a good time! <bio>http://www.satxproperty.com/ | http://www.satxproperty-sp.com/ | http://www.satxmls.com/ </bio>

San Antonio is the eighth biggest city in the United States and the home of 1.1 million people. Situated in the state of Texas, the city has plenty to offer to tourists -- you will never get bored here! There are lots of things to see and something for everyone. If you have a week to spend in lively, colorful San Antonio, you can easily find something different to do every day.

You will find African-Americans, Native Americans and Old Mexican and Wild West culture still remaining. San Antonio has no less than five original Spanish Colonial Missions, if you are interested in history. The San Antonio de Valero Mission (known as The Alamo) is a fortress and former mission that is famous for being the scene of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836. You will also find La Villita in San Antonio, which is one of the first settlements of the Spanish military, who settled there with their families.

Nearly twenty-two million tourists visit San Antonio, the gateway to Southern Texas, each year, proving its great popularity. Even though it is a big city and still growing, San Antonio keeps its history and traditions alive and takes great pride in its status as one of the most popular and interesting tourist spots in the United States.

The Paseo del Río is another interesting site to visit in San Antonio. Spanish for "The River Walk", the Paseo del Río is a path of flagstone and cobblestone that passes by the San Antonio River and goes via the city center. You will find boutiques, parks, hotels, nightclubs, high-rise offices and cafes on the path, which is nearly two and a half miles long. You can choose between a morning stroll on the River Walk or time it for the evening to see a colorful bazaar of people and a beautiful sunset. If you enjoy theme parks, you might like to visit Sea World San Antonio or the Six Flags Fiesta Texas. The San Antonio Spurs of the NBA are also based here if sports is more your thing.

San Antonio boasts several interesting museums in addition to everything else. If you are not a history fanatic, there is the Public Library or San Antonio Zoo to consider. You will definitely be spoiled for choice if you like lively nightlife. There are many bars, restaurants and nightclubs to choose from and the Texans sure know how to party! <bio>Find Cheap San Antonio Hotels at http://www.sanantonio-hotels.us/ </bio>

San Antonio vacation packages have a tremendous amount to offer these days, with activities for adults, as well as the kids. Whether you want to soak in city's rich history, enjoy the great restaurants and nightlife on the River Walk, or explore the rides at Six Flags Fiesta theme park, you should be able to find a San Antonio vacation package to meet your needs.

The Alamo is where many of San Antonio's best vacation packages start. At the Alamo, only 189 defenders held their own against the 4,000 Mexican troops who invaded this gorgeous city for almost two weeks. These days, you can take guided tours of the Alamo or just explore it on your own. Brass plates outside of the Alamo recount its history if you don't have the time or patience to peruse the grounds.

San Antonio vacation packages aren't just about the history of this city. San Antonio is one of Texas' premier entertainment destinations. From the European style cafes, to jam-packed nightclubs, there is plenty to see and do in this "urban masterpiece," as experts often call the city. Before hitting the clubs on your San Antonio vacation package, you can take a quiet stroll down the River Walk, which meanders on for almost three miles. If you're too full or lazy to walk, you can even jump aboard an open-aired boat that will take you for a cruise down the river and show you all that the "Disneyland-esque" River Walk has to offer.

If your kids are along for the trip, most San Antonio vacation packages offer plenty to keep them entertained. From the famed children's museum to the numerous parks, there is plenty of space to let them run around and burn off their endless energy. Looking down from the Tower of the Americas (just outside of downtown) you'll all be able see the entire city from 750 feet above the ground, and when they you're done you can go down and hit some of the main attractions at Six Flags and Sea World (directly below).

In planning your trip, look for San Antonio vacation packages that offer a combination of action and relaxation. With all the time you'll be spending on your feet, you'll thank yourself for finding a nice and relaxing place to restore your energy. <bio>A.J.
The Spurs is the only major professional sports team that calls the city of San Antonio their home. For this special honor, the residents of San Antonio shower their "boys" with praise and attention. In return, the Spurs team delivers an entertaining season and also gives back to the community. This is quite evident through the efforts and endeavors associated with influential personalities, such as David Robinson (Carver Academy) and George Gervin (Youth Center).

It is believed that the impressive community involvement from players greatly contributes to creating one of the most loyal fan bases within the NBA. This fact is also obvious through the attendance records that the team set when they called the Astrodome their home court. They also broke records for having one of the biggest crowds in history during the 1999 NBA Finals. Now, they play in the ATandT Center and continue to regularly sell out seats.

Another unique bond that the city and team have with one another showcases one of the most important forms of respect. When celebrating championship runs or significant milestones within the sporting world, the residents of San Antonio march up and down the streets, honking horns and spreading pride with little disruption. When it comes to rejoicing after a Spurs-title win, a major riot has yet to take place.

Throughout the years, San Antonio has had a lot to be happy about. They have sent three players to the Basketball Hall of Fame: George Gervin, Moses Malone, and Dominique Wilkins. The first of these basketball greats inducted into the Hall of Fame was George Gervin, who was nicknamed the "Iceman" during his career. In 1996, his outstanding run with the Spurs left him retiring with the second-most blocks of any guard in the NBA.

In 2001, Moses Malone was inducted into the Hall of Fame. By the end of his career, his longevity in the game sent him playing with two members of the Berry family (Rick in Houston; 1979 and 1980) and his son (Jon in Milwaukee; 1992 and 1993). The last of the current Hall of Famers is Dominique Wilkins, who in 2006 was inducted after leading an NBA career filled with major scoring and dunking accolades. <bio>Looking to invest in San Antonio real estate? http://www.satxproperty.com Agente de Bienes Raices en San Antonio Texas http://www.satxproperty-sp.com </bio>

Antonio Citterio admits that he normally converses with other designers in Milan. He believes that in order to come up with good designs you have to consult with some of the best designers in the industry. People's opinions vary depending on their age and experience, thus when carrying out design work it is important that you incorporate most of the positive aspects that your colleagues advise you on.

Antonio Citterio has worked with several companies as a designer. He looks back at his accomplishments with nostalgia. Other than getting satisfaction from the design works that he has successfully accomplished in the past, he also looks up to some designers, for example Luis Kah, Siza and many others.

Antonio Citterio believes that one of the things that have made him successful as a designer is that he does not in any way allow market forces to interfere with his work. He usually does his design work in the best way he knows how.

He advises upcoming designers that it is better to rely on your instincts. If an instruction is not working out with the required design, do not force it. If you can not work it out, just abandon it all together. Antonio Citterio advises upcoming designers not to limit themselves to their native country's boundaries.

Antonio Citterrio believes that the international market is very competitive and fair. Thus, if you are a good designer your work will easily stand out among the rest if it is exemplary. As a designer you need to identify your niche market and then work hard towards acquiring and maintaining your clients.

Antonio Citterio appreciates the kind or revolution that the internet has brought to people's lives. He says that thanks to the internet he can comfortably work in various offices across Europe, for example in Milan and Harmburg.

Antonio Citterio believes that because of the internet, he can receive various designs in real time from several designers across the globe. Even though several people nowadays do their shopping online, Antonio Citterio believes that online shopping takes the fun away from shopping.
In physical shopping an individual would either drive or walk to the shopping centre and do some shopping. In the process you might meet some of your friends whom you will engage in a chit chat. Online shopping cannot afford you the luxury of randomly meeting your friends and exchanging those knowing looks.

Antonio Citterio however believes that in the future, he will be able to make various designs and then upload them online. Anyone interested would then go to the physical address where his offices are located and make the purchase. The designs would enable the individuals to change various aspects of their houses in terms of design.

Antonio Citterio believes that architects are not afraid of unemployment. This is because they always look at the future with a positive attitude. What worries Antonio Citterio however is the wide disparity between the rich countries and the poor countries. He believes that something can be done to reduce the disparity.<bio>Visit us at furniture designers.
Public education is having a difficult time. The San Antonio Schools and districts nationwide are struggling to meet No Child Left Behind (NCLB) mandates and stricter state standards. One effect it has is that districts like the San Antonio Schools are being forced to raise their standards. Another effect is that time and funds are being routed to purchasing standardized tests, test preparation, and additional staff to meet newer requirements. None of these results is strictly good or bad. They all have positive and negative consequences on the San Antonio Schools. That is exactly why NCLB has stirred up such controversy.

How the San Antonio Schools Must Respond

One of the challenges is how the San Antonio Schools can meet higher standards and the need for more teachers on a public school district's always limited budget. Frankly, it's easy to point out the problems with a national program like NCLB. But even for someone like myself who thinks that standardized tests should be only one of many assessments used to gauge a student's progress, I have to admit that the pressure forces schools to improve in some areas. Just the sudden appearance of school rankings for k-12 general interest on websites and in local and national newspapers puts pressure on the San Antonio Schools to perform at their peak level. But the truth is that the schools can't do it alone.

One method that the San Antonio Schools is using to help boost student achievement is by tapping into community resources. Business partners and community mentors are one of the best resources that the San Antonio Schools have. Business partners can help the San Antonio Schools with financial contributions, technology donations and expertise, career guidance for students, and the implementation of practical student internships. Mentors can provide students in San Antonio Schools with positive role models, individual tutoring, personal support, and classroom assistance.

The other essential component of using local businesses and residents to boost students' achievement is that it bonds the community with a common goal. Senior citizens on a fixed income are less likely to grumble about their taxes if they know the San Antonio Schools' students that money is helping. And the retired community around the San Antonio Schools has a wealth of knowledge and information that many are willing to share.

Scholarships in the San Antonio Schools

Local businesses, community groups and the University of Texas have all come together to offer the San Antonio: Making Mentoring a Partnership Scholarship program. This project provides a minimum of two years of mentoring to San Antonio Schools' students who meet certain requirements which include a minimum 2.5 grade point average, and financial need.

This is exactly the type of program that we need to see more of. Community involvement and partnerships with corporate America are the only ways that the public school system can achieve its goals and provide students with a quality education. <bio>Patricia Hawke is a staff writer for Schools K-12, providing free, in-depth reports on all U.S. public and private K-12 schools.
Born Amir Esfandiari on December 8, 1978 in the capital city of Tehran, Iran, this world class Poker player was brought to the United States by his parents when he was nine years old. The family settled in San Jose where Amir attended school. He soon requested his name be changed to Anthony because his school mates thought the name Amir was strange.

He had always been fascinated by the art of magic and by the time he turned nineteen, he had studied and learned enough about the craft to turn professional.

Antonio's past profession stayed with him even after his success as a professional Poker player and his wizardry with the cards earned him the nickname "The Magician" as he is now known in Poker circles. Antonio says that he learned to "read" people as a magician and that this skill is helpful to him now as a Poker professional.

And a Poker wizard he certainly is! He is the youngest player to win a televised World Poker Tour Event, and the youngest Poker player to win a million dollar Tournament prize.

He gravitated to Poker the same way he did to magic. Antonio -- he changed his name from "Anthony" to "Antonio" when he became a professional magician -- is one of the lucky ones who has never had to "find himself" since he instinctively realized an interest in where his natural talents lie -- magic and poker.

Antonio began playing Poker with friends, gravitated to casino play, read books on the subject and states that he relied on his ability to intensely focus on the subject at hand until he mastered it -- particularly in Poker where his accomplishments thus far have been impressive:

- Over two million dollars won in Tournament play - One World Series of Poker (WSOP) Bracelet - Three World Poker Tour (WPT) Final Tables

Antonio Esfandiari's Poker Winnings:

- January 2006 - $10,000 Main Event No Limit Hold'em -- 11th place - $36,372

- December 2005 - $2,500 No Limit Hold'em -- 26th place - $3,305

- November 2005 -- Consolation Tournament Monte Carlo Millions Gold -- 2nd place - $60,000

- June 2005 -- WSOP $2,500 Short Handed No Limit Hold'em -- 5th place - $63,020

- May 2005 -- WSOP Circuit Event Harrah's New Orleans $10,000 Main Event -- 3rd place - $221,445

- April 2005 -- Third Annual Five Star World Poker Classic $5,000 No Limit Hold'em -- 3rd place - $122,035

- March 2005 -- NBC National Heads Up Championship -- 3rd place - $125,000

- May 2004 -- WSOP $2,000 Pot Limit Hold'em -- 1st place - $184,860

- February 2004 -- WPT L.A. Poker Classic $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Championship -- 1st place - $1,399,135

- November 2002 -- WPT Gold Rush $3,000 No Limit Hold'em Championship

Antonio Esfandiari now makes his home in San Francisco. One of his goals is to open a restaurant with a magic theme. <bio>Kenneth Bateman writes numerous articles on the subject of poker and its players.
Antonio Gates was born June 18, 1980 in Detroit Michigan. Ever since Gates was a young child it was obvious that he was going to be a great athlete in one sport or another. Standing at 6 foot 4 inches and weighing 260 pounds, he has all of the physical skills that a top notch NFL tight end could need. When you add this to the mental aspect of his game, it is no wonder why many people consider him to be the best tight end in the game.

Gates is a bit different than the rest of the players that you see in the NFL. Before his rookie season in the league, he had not played in an organized football game since high school. Gates decided that he wanted to go to Michigan State University to play both basketball and football, but when he was told by then Coach Nick Saban that he could only play football he decided to transfer. Subsequently, this led him to Eastern Michigan University then two junior colleges until he finally settled down at Kent State University in Ohio.

After his college basketball career was over, NBA scouts felt that at 6'4" he was not big enough to make it in the league. In turn, he began to focus his energy on getting ready for the NFL. Nearly 20 teams attended his workout, and the San Diego Chargers were so impressed that they signed him to a contract.

After a slow rookie season in 2004, Gates quickly became an offensive threat. Throughout the next three seasons combined he caught 241 passes for 2,989 yards and 32 touchdowns. This was good enough to land him in the Pro Bowl each of these three years, and also establish himself as a top offensive threat. For a guy that did not play college football, Gates is doing just fine in the NFL. <bio>Bob writes for http://DraftDayPicks.com and MVP ProShop. But not all luxury Austin homes offers the best in rural and city life.

The Villas on Travis provide an Austin condo with the beauty of the rural outdoors with the best of `city life' only a short drive away.

Fisherman flock to Lake Travis to take advantage of the great catches found in the lake, located just outside the Austin condo. Others may not fish, but desire to spend a leisurely day on Lake Travis in a canoe or pontoon boat.

Very few luxury Austin homes provide this plethora of lakeside views and recreation so close to home. If you avoid the water, you can take a gorgeous nature walk near the lake and enjoy the outdoor beauty near the Austin condo.

If you prefer city life, you can drive into the city from your Austin condo and taste all the city offers. Restaurants, dance clubs, theaters and museums line the streets of Texas' capital city giving residents many options to soak up all the city offers near luxury Austin homes.

Three professional sports teams call Austin home and you can take a short drive to San Antonio to see the world champion San Antonio Spurs. You will fine everything but boredom near your Austin condo!

Many people value their privacy in an Austin condo =97particularly celebrities. Security and comfort drew many celebrities, such as Sandra Bullock, Lance Armstrong and Matthew McConaughey to luxury Austin homes.

No one gets into the Villas on Travis without going though one of three gates monitored 24-hours a day. This keeps away "undesirables" such as criminals and the paparazzi hoping to get a picture of one of Austin's famous residents living in an Austin condo.

If you run into Sandra Bullock or Lance Armstrong, invite them to dine in your Austin condo. You can impress them with the amenities in the luxury Austin homes. If the fun continues until the wee hours of the morning, invite guests to stay in your Austin condo. Guests feel at home in your Austin condo and may want to stay forever.

Since the Villas on Travis offer rural and city living, an Austin condo provides the perfect romantic setting for a weekend getaway. Dine at one of the best restaurants in Austin before returning to the Austin condo for a romantic evening by the fire.

Nothing beats the view from luxury Austin homes at the Villas on Travis and the sunset (or sunrise!) at the lake caps of an intimate experience. <bio>Ben Jordan is x-Fortune 500 Austin Real Estate Investor and marketing consultant who has consulted realtors as well as other real estate investors.
Manuel Antonio is one of the most relaxing and luxurious eco-beach parks in Costa Rica, and perhaps in the whole of Central America as well. A stretch of immaculate beaches, a magical rainforest with a myriad of flora and fauna, a mecca for sport fishing, a breathtaking view of sunsets on a glorious Pacific Ocean, and a neighborhood of luxury homes=97no other place in Costa Rica can rival this dream national park.

Established in 1972, Manuel Antonio is the first ever of its kind in Central America to protect and care for both ocean and land natural resources. It may be the smallest national park in Costa Rica, covering an area of 683 hectares, but its dazzling beauty and its plant and animal diversity are beyond compare. And being merely 7.24 kilometers south of the quaint coastal town of Quepos and 132 kilometers from Costa Rican capital San Jose, Manuel Antonio is not lacking in day-to-day amenities and services. There are banks, speedy internet access, restaurants, shops, grocery stores, markets, sports bars, hotels and a fire station. Furthermore, Manuel Antonio is home to a little airport, from which daily flights are made to and from San Jose.

This renowned national park is also known for having some of the most pristine beaches in Costa Rica. People from all over the world come to Manuel Antonio just to have a go at the world class sport fishing milieu here. Also, the coral reefs to be found here are home to the most diverse marine life, and are thus perfect sites for snorkeling and diving. And as with the rest of Costa Rica, surfing, swimming, white water rafting and canopy tours cannot be done away with in this delightful park.

Certainly, any nature lover would be in heaven on a visit to this natural reserve. With 109 species of mammals, 184 birds, and hundreds of plant species, it is not hard to imagine why.

Needless to say, Manuel Antonio is perhaps the best known destination in Costa Rica. Undoubtedly, it is one of most visited areas, if not the most, in this beautiful country. It would be no surprise then that real estate in Manuel Antonio is selling like hot cakes. The demand for property on this little piece of paradise is astounding, especially since tourism in this area made an all-time high this year. In addition, the occupancy rate for the off-peak season here is fast approaching the numbers pegged for the high season.

An awe-aspiring view of the Pacific, unspoiled beaches, lush mountainside, and rich rainforest. You can have these right at the very doorstep of your dream home in Manuel Antonio. Many have, in fact, chosen to build and make their retirement homes in Manuel Antonio.

Real estate in Manuel Antonio is indeed a worthwhile and attractive investment. Speculators will never make a mistake by deciding to park their investment money in this hot real estate market, be it for home sites, high-end houses, apartments, condominiums, villas, estates, or hotels. <bio>Seth Willis Jr. is the webmaster for http://www.equatorpads.com and a savvy real estate investor.
San Antonio Schools held two college fairs as part of its GEAR UP program to help the class of 2012 get ready for college.

GEAR UP Fairs in the San Antonio Area

Current Sixth Grade students and their families attended college fairs at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Participants learned about basic college requirements, entrance examinations, and how to find financial aid. To add a little local flavor to the occasion, school cheerleaders and mariachis performed and refreshments were served.

GEAR UP

Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a federally funded grant given to states to increase the number of low income students enrolling in college. The grant provides funding for six years in order to promote one class of students in college readiness from sixth grade through twelfth grade. Some GEAR UP funds go toward college scholarships for needy students.

GEAR UP isn't just for schools. Local businesses and community groups, including those with religious affiliations, can partner with local schools to provide college information for students. Each school or organization, however, is expected to match federal funding dollar for dollar, meaning that the non-federal contribution must be at least 50 percent.

Student Selection

GEAR UP funds can be used on a variety of student population groups by focusing on either a "cohort" or "priority students."

Each cohort must satisfy one of the following requirements:

• All of the students in a particular grade level at a participating school that has a seventh grade and in which at least 50 percent of the students are eligible for free or reduced price lunch under the National School Lunch Act.

• All of the students in a particular grade level who reside in public housing.

Priority students, on the other hand, are students who are eligible to be counted under one of the following laws:

• The Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (Title 1)

• Free or reduced price lunches under the National School Lunch Act

• Assistance under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (Title 1 of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996)

Private school students also have a chance to participate if they meet any of the above requirements. In order to do so, a local education agency must act on their behalf and either an institute of higher learning or a local education agency is in charge of their finances. For private school students to participate, the private school itself must also be a partner in the grant.

Opportunities for the San Antonio Independent School District

The district has a lot to gain from the GEAR UP program in targeting students and their parents early on in the college decision making process. Beginning with sixth grade students, the program allows parents and students to develop gradually in undertaking the many responsibilities that come with applying for and paying for college. The class of 2012 is on its way to making a smooth transition into university education.

For more information on San Antonio Schools visit http://www.schoolsk-12.com <bio>Stacy Andell is a staff writer for Schools K-12, providing free, in-depth reports on all U.S. public and private K-12 schools.
Barcelona is a city with much history and much to offer. However the most intriguing thing about Barcelona is what the Arabs left behind. These are all beautiful structures as well as the spirit of the people of Catalunya. There is much to do and many sites to see when visiting the city so do not be discouraged if you are not able to fit everything in. The city will be more than happy to see you multiple times to take in everything that there is to offer. The cities of Lleida, Girona, Tarragona and Barcelona make up this region that has a vast shoreline for many to see and enjoy when visiting the city.

With so much to offer as well a vast amount of beach front it is no wonder that there is so much summer tourism to the area especially when you consider all that there is especially along Costa Brava. Some of the things to partake in include watersports, soccer matches, museum visits and just simply walking and enjoying the city architecture. One of the primary attractions to the city is the Sagrada Familia at the Placa de la Sagrada Square with so much history and aesthetic pleasure to be gathered from that site. This church was built by Antonio Gaudi in 1883 as a place for the needy. One of the most intriguing aspects of this structure is the fact that the bell towers are rounded off as opposed to being square which was unique for this time period. In addition to the round corners Gaudi gave the towers a Swiss cheese appearance. Gaudi worked furiously on his church and died while working on it in 1926. It is here that he is buried in the crypt of St. Joseph on the East side. The church has yet to be completed, but the bell towers are done. You will find works by Gaudi all over the city particularly in the Guell Park. But The Sagrada Familia remains today to be a magnificent piece of architecture to many.

There are many sources for information about touring Barcelona such as the web, tourist agencies and of course at the city itself. Much of this information is free and is usually available in multiple languages. It is also very helpful as it will usually list prices and times of operation for many of the exhibits and attractions in the city. This can be quite helpful to the planning of time as well as budget for your trip and not feel so much like a tourist. <bio>Robert Carlton works mostly for http://www.barcelona-information.com , an online publication with information about Barcelona and Costa Brava.
