Chronic pain in the joints is a common problem for many people. In fact, it's been estimated that at least one out of every three American adults suffers from some sort of chronic pain in their joints.

Joint pain is generally caused by an inflammation of some kind. Arthritis is possibly the most known about. There are a couple of different types of Arthritis though:

Rheumatoid arthritis is caused from something being wrong with the body's immune system, which causes an inflammation in the joint lining. Osteoarthritis is often caused by working out or weight build too strenously or incorrectly. With Osteoarthritis, the cartilage covering the ends of your bones deteriorates, and pain is caused from one bone moving against another.

Other medical conditions which cause chronic join pain include Gout, Juvenile arthritis, Spinal arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Bursitis, and Tendonitis.

Since most joint pain problems are caused due to an inflammation of some kind, a common treatment for the pain is to take anti-infammatory and pain medications such as Motrin, Ibuprofin, or prescription COX 2 inhibitors and NSAIDS. An herbal anti-infammatory option is White Willow Bark. Keep in mind that these medications treat the symptoms however, not the actual cause of your chronic joint pain problems.

There are several ways you can help reduce the causes of your chronic joint pain however, and if addressed early enough, it might be preventable or eliminated completely.

First you'll need to take a close look at your lifestyle choices. A very common cause of joint pain in the knees for instance, is due to obesity. Carrying a lot of extra body weight will put more strain on your joints and cause chronic pain. So losing even a little bit of weight can help to reduce the joint pain you experience.

If you're on the opposite end of the spectrum and you work out hard and often, this too could be some of the cause for your join pain problems. Many bodybuilders and weight lifters for instance, don't stretch or warm up properly before working out. And many of them don't allow their body time to recuperate, repair and rebuild before their next workout.

Heavy impact style exercising can also cause severe strain on your joints. Step aerobics for instance, or kick boxing, has a jarring effect on your bones and joints which will cause pain. Simply changing to a lower impact style of exercise can help tremendously. Water based exercises are excellent low impact workouts, as is Yoga.

Another simple way to reduce chronic joint pain is to look at other parts of your life. If you're a lady who always wears high heeled shoes, this can cause severe strain on your joints. If you sit at a desk all day and are not using ergonomic solutions for computer use, you'll find yourself with one or more joints constantly hurting. Even sitting in the same position all day, or standing all day can cause chronic joint pain, and these issues can be relieved at least some by simply moving around and changing positions throughout the day.

Last but not least, you need to make sure you're getting the proper amount of vitamins, minerals and supplements each day. Calcium is extremely important for strong bones, and strong bones will help your joints to be strong as well. Omega 3 fatty acids such as those gotten from fish or flax seeds can help your body address and conquer inflammation issues, and glucosamine helps improve joint flexibility, as well as helping to build strong joint cartilage. <bio>If you're looking for excellent sources of extra calcium, glucosamine and other vital nutrients to help you prevent or releive joint pain, please visit http://www.1healthybody.com/flex-protex.htm </bio>

We've all heard about tennis elbow, and many of us have suffered from it. In reality, it is a form of tendonitis brought on by the frequent, repetitive motions involved in playing tennis. Tendonitis, however, is not limited to the elbow or arm. It can occur throughout the body. Any activity which places stress on the same tendon can cause that tendon to become inflamed and sore.

Chronic Tendonitis

Tendonitis can be either acute (i.e. a temporary flare up) or chronic (i.e. long lasting). When tendonitis keeps recurring, it is called chronic tendonitis.

Tendons are composed of elastic-like tissue which connects our muscles to our bones.

As we age, tendons tend to lose their elasticity through normal wear and tear. From time to time, a tendon will break or tear and scar tissue forms in the healing process. Scar tissue is not as flexible as tendon tissue and frequently causes pain and inflammation with continued use and motion. Most often the areas affected are elbows, knees, ankles, shoulders and feet.

Obviously it's these parts of our anatomy that see repeated use during the course of a normal day. As we continue placing strain on an injured tendon, it doesn't have an opportunity to heal which, in turn, leads to chronic tendonitis.

Age is only one of the underlying causes of chronic tendonitis.

Athletes who are highly trained and in superb condition can also suffer from chronic tendonitis. Again, it is the repetitive motions required by a variety of sports that cause the condition to erupt. For example, repeated motion of the golfer's swing or a pitcher's throwing arm in baseball over the course of time can cause weakness in the tissue and lead to inflammation of the muscles and tendons. This is why it's so important to do stretching exercises and warm ups prior to strenuous activity.

Left untreated, things can only get worse. Both acute and chronic tendonitis sometimes will result in a tear or rupture of the tendon. In this case, the physician will probably prescribe surgery, but only after more conservative measures have failed.

Treating Chronic Tendonitis

Acute or chronic tendonitis can cause mild to severe pain. In its simplest and most conservative approach, treatment will involve analgesics such as ibuprofen and resting the affected area. Depending on the severity, your physician may conclude that you will benefit from an anti-inflammatory medication and may prescribe cortisone injections. This is an effective, and powerful anti-inflammatory medication that helps to reduce the pain and swelling and promote healing of tendonitis. Treatment may also include mild stretching exercises in order to keep the joints flexible.

Just a word of caution is in order. Corticosteroids can be injected but they do not come without risks. One of their side effects is that they can weaken the immune system or infection can appear at the injection site. Again, It is critical that the tendon be given time to heal or more serious tendon injury can occur. And, as mentioned, surgery may be required in cases of tears or ruptures in order to repair the damage and relieve the pain of chronic tendonitis. <bio>Robert G.
More often it is found that the people have been agonizing over various parts of the body. According to the symptoms the suspecting of doctors goes right it can be turned into devastating disease like arthritis. Arthritics are the most common chronic disease in the world. The natural medication has stretched out the hand of immense help to over come from the dire state.

The disease "Arthritis" means the joint inflammation. The categories of the disease can be expressed as over 100 across the globe. If any of the patients becomes arrogant towards this disease and not complying with this, he or she will be in trouble that is for sure. The arthritis pain may emanate from different sources of human limbs like inflammation of joint tissues, tendons, muscle strain and fatigue. Swelling within the joint, severity of inflammation (along with the heat, redness) and the extent or damage of joins are the factors contributed to pain or inflammation.

After Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis, three other less prevalent types of arthritis are Gout, Ankylosing Spondylitis and Psoriatic arthritis. Let's take a quick look at each. The two most common types of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis with same symptoms but have different reasons.

The fingers, knees, hips join, and spine are the areas of the body that Osteoarthritis commonly affects. The wrist, elbow, shoulders and ankles are the additional parts that are disturbed.

In Rheumatoid arthritis the body immune system attacks healthy tissues (group of cells) that make up the joint of the human body. It is known, as the chronic disease tends to attack and destroy the joint protection cartilage (provide with the cushion for the bones). As a result of this attach of cartilage have been destroyed and the bones have been left alone. Continuous rubbing of bones make the bones affected with tremendous inflammation.

Ankylosing Spondylitis is that kind of arthritis diseases which affects the spine of the human body. The affected spine bone grows longer for the above said arthritis.

Psoriatic Arthritis is not as familiar as the previous two. This type eats away at the joints and can also manifest as psoriasis on the skin. An arthritis pain relief for this type would help.

Debilitating disease like arthritics do cause lots of problem to human being, but the cure measures of the arthritics is easily affordable. The suitable solutions are derived from the natural organic medication. This kind of medication cures arthritics will provide with the complete mobility of the human limbs and ensure less expenses. <bio> http://www.universitylabtechnologies.com/arthroleve.asp </bio>

Psoriatic arthritis is actually a combination of two different medical conditions. Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition which causes a patchy rash. The affected area is usually inflamed and scaly. Arthritis is described as an inflammation of the joints and is also chronic. Both conditions are fairly common but psoriasis is predominant in the white population. Some people who develop psoriasis will go on to develop arthritis and this condition is known as psoriatic arthritis.

With certain types of arthritis the female is more prone to having the disease. With psoriatic arthritis both male and female are equally affected. Both conditions usually do not appear at the same time. The majority of the affected people normally develop psoriasis before they develop arthritis. Since both conditions are inflammatory, the condition can have an impact on many parts of the body such as the heart and other major organs. The spine is another place which is often affected by psoriatic arthritis. Currently there is no known cause or cure for this disease.

Many people who are diagnosed with this disease will experience acne, even at an advanced age. The acne is not limited to the face; it often causes other parts of the body to break out in an acne type rash. The nails may also develop ridges and pitting.

The arthritis may involve the knees, feet, hands, ankles, and the spine. People with psoriatic arthritis tend to have more spinal pain than other arthritis sufferers. Joints tend to swell and become stiff which causes moderate to severe pain. The pain and stiffness is most often worse during the morning hours after the patient has been in bed all night. For many people the pain and stiffness gets better as they get up and begin moving. Often a hot shower will also help relieve the joint stiffness.

Patients who are diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis will often develop pain and inflammation in their tendons which makes it more difficult and painful to walk. Many times steroids may be used to reduce the inflammation.

Psoriatic arthritis can cause many other health problems such as lung inflammations and eye disease. People with this diagnosis who experience eye problems should immediately contact their physician since this condition could possibly lead to blindness. The same goes for the lungs. When inflammation is present in the lungs, people may experience difficulty with breathing, or they may develop chest pain. It is extremely important to get medical attention if any of these symptoms occur since they could possibly lead to death.

For further information check http://www.arthritisreliefhelp.info <bio>Roger Thompson writes articles on arthritis and pain relief for http://arthritisrelief.info </bio>

Every once in a while you'll stumble across an expert whose words and passion sink right into your soul and so it was the day I listened to Dr. Joseph Hibbeln of the National Institutes of Health on a radio broadcast as he explained why we have chronic inflammation and what it all means. Dr. Hibblen is a psychiatrist and lipid biochemist known as one of the world's leading authorities on Omega 3.

When you cut your finger and it turns red, that's inflammation of the good kind that rushes in to heal the wound. But when it gets out of control from the very food we eat (Omega 3 Seed Oil), inflammation turns in and attacks the body in dreadful ways.

See TIME cover story, 2/04, Inflammation, The Secret Killer, Missing Link Between Heart Attacks, Cancer, Alzheimer's and other Disease and What You Can Do About It.

What is Omega 3 seed oil? Dr. Hibbeln defines seed oils as "literally vegetable oils that have been squeezed from seeds and primarily those seeds are soybean oil overwhelmingly and to some extent, corn oil, safflower and other oils and the big deal is that in these oils the ratio of Omega 6 to Omega-3 fatty acids is about 10 to one, whereas in our diets and evolution that ratio was about one to one. So you had a one to one balance to inflammation when we were evolving and now it's a 10 to one balance in favor of inflammation because of the predominances in the seed oils."

So, we have Omega 3 from fish oil, and we have Omega 3 from seed oil, which correctly should be labeled Omega 6 but without making a fuss over the confusing distinction, when you see Omega 3 on products in your grocery store, ask yourself one question. Is the source of the Omega 3 on that product seed oil? You can't very well put Omega 3 from fatty fish in cereal now, can you? And what do we need less of? Dr. Hibbeln explains why it is so critical to know the difference.

"Omega-3 fatty acids, (from fish oil) when those fats are swimming around in your blood stream and your immune system, they produce compounds which reduce inflammation and help to prevent heart disease; and the American Heart Association now recommends that people eat fish three to four times a week or take fish oil supplements to help prevent the progression of heart disease. It's more than 38 peer-reviewed studies which have been systematically reviewed.

Omega -3 fatty acids are one of those two polyunsaturated fatty acids. Polyunsaturated simple means that it has many double bonds. The key here is that there's two families of polyunsaturated fatty acids, the Omega-3 fatty acids which you find primarily from fish oil, and the Omega-6 fatty acids from seed oils =96 eventually the body converts them into a compound called arachidonic acid and arachidonic acid is good in low amounts, but in high amounts it makes a lot of inflammatory compounds. It makes compounds that make your joints ache, compounds that increase the inflammation in your blood stream and leads to arterial sclerosis.

How big a deal is arachidonic acid? It is such a big deal we've created billion dollar industries for the production of Vioxx and Celebrex and Ibuprofen, all of which their main purpose is to keep arachidonic acid from being converted into these inflammatory compounds. But remember, the origin of arachidonic acid is from what you eat. It's from seed oils. Take away the seed oils or swap them out, your body will not be full of so much arachidonic acid and will not have a pro-inflammatory predisposition."

And that makes me very glad I discovered the healing benefits of Omega 3's From Fatty Fish (capitalized intentionally) a long time ago. I won't buy an Omega 3-laced grocery store product today and add more of the wrong Omega 3 to the inflammation level in my body. <bio>Lois Smithers has spent years researching Omega 3's and other sea-based health solutions.
Joint inflammation has a lot do with the body trying to heal itself, both rightly and wrongly. The human body is a complex system that is working hard to survive; therefore it will always attempt to heal any injured or diseased part of itself. Joint inflammation does not always result in healing; in fact it can be very destructive of joints. That is why this article was written.

The body's immune system is designed to seek and destroy bacteria and other foreign particles that invade the body. It does this by sending immune cells and antibodies into the effected area of the body and this cause swelling in that area. This would include mechanical injury to a joint such as a fracture or the presence of an infection usually caused by viruses or bacteria. For example, Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that can inflame and create joint pain and swelling. The treatment for knee joint pain often includes testing for Lyme disease since knee swelling and pain are common symptoms. But, there is also something called an autoimmune disease where the immune system malfunctions and mistakenly attacks its own body tissue, in this case joint tissue.

In looking at a healthy joint one can see it has its full range of motion and it bends, flexes and turns with an easy fluid movement. A joint is the junction where bones meet. In a Synovial joint there is cartilage between these bones and the Synovial membrane or lining that secretes Synovial fluid, this separates and protects the cartilage and the bones from fiction as one bends or turns the bones that meet in that joint.

Getting back to the immune system; specifically where it malfunctions and mistakenly attacks its own body tissue. This can be Rheumatoid Arthritis since RA causes the Synovial lining to swell. Inflammation in the joints is swelling of the Synovial lining. It distends or balloons tissue and cells in the effected joints which compresses nerve endings causing pain, aching, and stiffness. There may also be redness of the skin around the joint and reduced ability to move the joint. Lupus is another autoimmune disease that can cause the joint to be swollen and ache.

When the inflammation does not go away it can lead to destruction of the joint, results in long-term pain and deformity. COX-2 is an enzyme that is found in areas of the body responsible for creating inflammation and its resulting pain. Drugs in recent years have targeted to block this enzyme with what is called COX-2 Inhibitors and these drugs would be a great solution to this problem if it were not for the extreme side effects that accompany these drugs. Vioxx, is one such drug and has now been removed from the market. Fortunately there is a natural and effective COX-2 Inhibitor available with no side effect. For more in depth information download the free report in the resource box.

The immune system usually heals the body, that joint swollen with inflammation can be the body healing itself. But, when inflammation in a joint or joints is a chronic or when joint ache is chronic then it indicates a serious problem that does need attention. Herbal remedies for joint pains are available and should be used instead of drugs whenever possible. <bio>So if you have any joint problems go to http://www.ToBe-Healthy.com/forarthritis/ for the non-drug solution I use. The forms range from those related to wear and tear of cartilage like the osteoarthritis to those associated with inflammation resulting from an over-active immune system like rheumatoid arthritis does for the human body. Together, the many forms of arthritis make up the most common chronic illness in the United States. The Osteoarthritis mainly affects the cartilages of or around the bones. The cartilages provide the bone with the cushion and thus to protect it from the rubbing friction. On the other hand the Rheumatoid arthritis is the joint chronic inflammation that also the affect the body autoimmune system. Rheumatoid arthritis is also the main disease that causes the pain in or around the joints. Only the arthritis low back pain relief is the main pain suppression methodology for both of the arthritis. Here Autoimmune disease must be explained. The autoimmune disease is that illness by the blood antibody or the cells whose main job is to seeking and destroying body invaders preferably the infections mistakenly attack the body tissues.

Auspiciously, arthritis can be managed through a combination of medication, exercise, rest, weight-management, nutrition, and, in some cases, surgery.
Hepatitis C is an infection with the hepatitis C virus. It causes liver to swell which affects its functioning. Hepatitis C spreads by using infected, dirty needles or through blood transfusion. The virus remains dormant in the liver to cause chronic inflammation. Once infected with hepatitis C virus many may not show any sign of infection. Sometimes people get infected with hepatitis C and would not even know for years. There are two main kinds of hepatitis, acute and chronic hepatitis. When a person's liver gets inflamed suddenly it is called acute and when the inflammation doesn't leave you, it is called chronic hepatitis.

Other than using IV drugs or getting stuck with dirty needles, hepatitis C virus can also spread by direct contact with blood of an infected person, by sharing toothbrushes, razors, tattoo needles and even from mother to the unborn child. It is also a sexually transmitted disease. One has to get oneself examined as this virus can lead to cirrhosis (a liver disease) and liver cancer. One of the important reasons for this infection to flourish is by sharing dirty or infected needles.

Common Myths about Hepatitis C

It cannot be transmitted by sneezing, coughing, shaking hands, hugging, kissing, sharing utensils, swimming in public swimming pool, using common toilets or touching doorknobs.

Possible Symptoms

Even though there aren't any common symptoms we can include some possible symptoms which may pinpoint us towards hepatitis C problem. These possible symptoms are fatigue, losing weight, loss of hunger, joint pains, nausea, anxiety, pain in liver area, flu-symptoms like fever, headache and sweats.

Simple Preventive Measures

There are no home remedies available for this condition. But you can prevent this by following some simple instructions. Avoid sharing needles with any one. If donating blood ask for a fresh needle, opened right in front of you. Have a healthy way of living by including a good diet and exercise routine. Control your alcohol intake to prevent further damage of your liver. Practice safe sex by using condom. Get routine check-up to avoid any complications. By the much needed blood tests one can find out about hepatitis C in an early stage. Get vaccinated against hepatitis A and B to prevent further problems.

Warning: The reader of this article should exercise all precautionary measures while following instructions on the home remedies from this article. Avoid using any of these products if you are allergic to it. The responsibility lies with the reader and not with the site or the writer. <bio>Sharon Hopkins has been managing number of natural home remedies websites, such as http://www.home-remedies-for-you.com, which provides information on different uses of the home remedies and natural cures.
Sinusitis, also known as a "sinus infection," is an inflammation of the paranasal sinuses. This inflammation can have a number of causes, including fungal, viral, bacterial, or allergic.

Sinus infection symptoms can include headache, nasal congestion, and pressure around the eyes, fever, and nasal discharge. Other less common symptoms might include toothache, cough, and bad breath.

Most ear, nose and throat specialists are able to determine the exact location of the sinus infection based on the symptoms.

The two main types of sinus infections are acute and chronic, and the difference is mostly how long the infection lasts.

Acute sinusitis usually lasts less than month, while chronic sinusitis can extend for over three months.

There are two main ways that doctors typically treat acute sinus infections. They either prescribe antibiotics or recommend getting plenty of rest, or they recommend taking aspirin and drinking hot water, and see if the symptoms worsen after two days. If they do get worse, then they prescribe antibiotics.

Of course, this practice may not the best way to approach the infection, because antibiotics can only help if the infection involves a bacterial pathogen, and that is not the case for all sinus infections. In fact, in the case of chronic sinus infections, there are only a tiny minority of cases that have a bacterial cause.

In 1999, the Mayo Clinic released a study that found strong evidence that suggested nearly every patient who suffers from chronic sinusitis has a fungal infection. In fact, of the 210 chronic sinus infection sufferers observed in the study, a full 96 percent had a fungal infection as the root cause.

Dr. Sherris, a researcher who worked on the study stated that even though doctors had once believed that only one in ten sufferers of chronic sinus infection had a fungal infection, "our studies indicate that, in fact, fungus is likely the cause of nearly all of these problems."

This makes the prescription of antibiotics for the treatment of chronic sinus infection not only ineffective, but downright dangerous.

The body has natural, helpful bacteria that work with the immune system to help fight infections, such as fungal infections. Taking antibiotics kills these "good" bacteria, which allows the fungal infection to thrive and get worse.

Many patients have turned to natural antibiotics such as colloidal silver to treat sinus infections, and many still report fantastic success. One of the reasons that sinus infections are so difficult to deal with is that the ailment has many possible causes.

Based on the testimonials of patients who are now happily sinus-infection free, colloidal silver can rid anyone a sinus infection, no matter if the cause is viral, fungal, bacterial, or even autoimmune.

Not all colloidal silvers are the same in their effectiveness to treat sinus infection symptoms. The most powerful testimonials typically come from those who used true colloidal silver.

True colloidal silver has low concentrations of ionic silver and a very small particle size. The result is a higher concentration of silver that can more effectively fight sinus infections, no matter the root cause. <bio>Wyatt McKinney is committed to sharing information about the benefits of bronchitis treatment.
Arthritis literally means joint inflammation.

Arthritis describes not only just one particular disease but in fact it describes more than 100 different arthritic conditions. Arthritis and the associated diseases are known as rheumatic diseases.

When diagnosed with arthritis the joints and surrounding tissues such as tendons and muscles become inflamed. Inflammation is the body's protective reaction to illness or injury. It can cause redness, pain and swelling in the joints.

Rheumatic diseases describe diseases of the joints, muscles, and connective tissues with each of the diseases having a different root cause. Some serious forms of arthritis are known as autoimmune diseases and in these particular diseases, the body's auto immune systems simply malfunctions.

Many forms of arthritis are chronic diseases which means they will last from the time of diagnosis throughout the remainder of life. They do not go away. They cannot be cured by drugs or treatment.

But just because arthritis is a chronic disease that does not mean that the arthritis sufferer must live constantly in pain because of the disease. Arthritis symptoms tend to have periods when the symptoms are more active and require your attention and then periods of quiet or remission when the symptoms subside and you feel better.

Having arthritis absolutely does not mean that you cannot or should not enjoy a full and active lifestyle. Yes, you may have to make adaptations or alterations in your lifestyle but there are plenty of suggestions to get you through some of the daily challenges.

Currently there is no known cure for arthritis. In fact one of the frustrating challenges of this disease is that there is currently no specific cause as to why the disease develops in the first place. Further research must be undertaken in order to better benefit those battling arthritis in the future.

Arthritis is certainly a challenge that you must face if you have been diagnosed with this condition. But don't let it completely alter your lifestyle. Learn to be an active partner in your own healthcare and take control of your life even if you have arthritis. <bio>For more important information on arthritis be sure to visit http://arthritis-life.com where you will find information and resources on arthritis such as arthritis relief, arthrits treatments, and other articles that you can view at http://www.arthritis-life.com </bio>

Chronic heartburn is one of the serious gastric disorders which is characterized by the frequent recurrence of heartburn. It is often neglected as a common gastric disorder but chronic disorder must not be ignored as such since it may be an indication of any other serious disorder. Heartburn which is the burning feeling in the chest, can be classified as chronic if it recurs more than twice a week.

Heartburn occur when the gastric substances enters into the esophagus. Chronic heartburn is also dangerous on its own since the frequent contact with the acidic stomach contents will harm the lining of the esophagus and cause inflammation. It requires immediate medical attention since prolonged occurrence of the heartburn may result the risk of complications such as esophageal ulcer, esophageal bleeding, strictures and even esophagus cancer.

Causes

Chronic heartburn can be caused by the serious impairment of the esophagus muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). Hiatal hernia and many of the lifestyle factors were suspected to be the reason for it however chronic heartburn most often occurs as a result of the many serious disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD, ulcers, cancers, and severe gastric tissue impairment.

Symptoms

The symptom of chronic heartburn is the repeated occurrence of the burning sensation in the chest cavity. Even though the irritation occurs in usually below the breast bone, the pain will spread to the whole chest cavity such as back also. In some of the cases the irritation will spread to throat and even mouth. In severe conditions, the pain becomes intolerable.

Diagnosis

Chronic heartburn will be evident from the symptoms itself however physicians will suggest the patient have more detailed diagnostic tests to precisely identify the degree of impairment of the esophagus and the associated diseases. Barium x-ray, endoscopy, pH determination and esophageal impedance tests are the common diagnostic procedures to determine chronic heartburn Treatment

Medical assistance is essential for chronic heartburn to overcome the repeated disturbances. Along with the popular medications such as antacids, H-2 receptor blockers and proton pump inhibitors, physicians used to recommend prescription strength medications to minimize its manifestations. Prokinetic activators are also suggested in many occasions. The treatment is actually focused on not only minimize the symptoms, but also to heal the impaired sites and to rejuvenate it. In severe conditions, surgery is also recommended, according to the condition demands.

Prevention

Immediate prevention is not actually practical for chronic heartburn however a balanced routine can help you to avoid the life style factors that may contribute to the disease. Practice a good posture for sitting, standing and lying down, avoid spicy and acid diet and bad habits such as cigarette smoking and alcohol and also exercise to reduce weight. Hence, a balanced living can help you to prevent heartburn, as with any other disease. <bio>Jason Rickard is the owner of Your Favourite Shop - http://www.yourfavouriteshop.com - Offering White Noise and Relaxation CDs - Visit Hapa Health - http://www.hapahapa.com for more articles. </bio>

The term "arthritis" is derived from the Greek=85 "arthron" meaning joint=85 and "it is" meaning inflammation. Most types of arthritis are associated with inflammation. Inflammation is a defense mechanism the body employs to fight infection, tumors, and other foreign invaders. The mediator of this inflammatory response is the immune system.

Picture an army of warriors =96 the immune response- which is ready and eager to take on the task of protecting you against enemies. Inflammation is regulated so that under normal circumstances, once the problem is taken care of, inflammation stops. Unfortunately, inflammation can escape this control mechanism and become chronic. Chronic inflammation, it is believed, is the underlying basis for the development of diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, and heart disease.

So is there a way to manipulate the diet so that arthritis damage caused by inappropriate inflammation can be controlled? Recent research has suggested that diets that contain omega-3 fatty acids that combat inflammation may be useful. Also, the elimination of foods containing omega-6 fatty acids which promote inflammation is also helpful.

Here is a list of seven "insider secrets" that you should know about.

Secret #1: Make cold water fish part of your diet at least two to three times a week. Examples include cold water salmon (not farm raised), sardines, herring, cod, and trout. The reason? These types of fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. If fish is something you don't enjoy, consider flax seed, walnuts, or dietary fish supplements=85 all of which also contain significant amounts of omega-3. (Note: If you are a blood thinner, consult your doctor before taking a dietary supplements with omega-3 since your drug dose may need to be adjusted.)

Secret #2: Reduce the amount of certain oils such as corn oil, sunflower oil, and safflower oil. These contain large amounts of omega-6 fatty acids that promote inflammation. Use olive oil or canola oil instead.

Secret # 3: Go for veggies and fruits. Many vegetables and fruits are high in antioxidants that fight inflammation. Berries such as blueberries and cherries are excellent and tasty sources of anti-inflammatory ingredients. Pineapple is a good source of bromelain, an excellent anti-oxidant.

Secret # 4: Avoid the white poisons. Often ingredients like refined sugar, refined flour and salt are used in the production of processed foods such as white bread, sugary cereals, candies, and pastries. These white poisons promote inflammation and should be avoided.

Secret # 5: Reduce the amount of red meat in your diet: Animal protein contains large amounts of pro-inflammatory fatty acids.

Secret #6: Reduce the amount of trans fat in your diet. Trans fats, which are present in fried foods, cakes, pies, cookies, and other baked goods, increase low density cholesterol (LDL). This is the bad cholesterol that is pro-inflammatory.

Secret # 7: Use more spices: Spices such as curcumin, garlic, ginger, contain ingredients which have been shown in some well-controlled studies to reduce the inflammation of arthritis.

Some people have claimed that dairy products and nightshade vegetables such as eggplant, potatoes, and tomatoes, cause their arthritis to get worse. There may be some individual food sensitivities/ allergies that do aggravate arthritis. However, a blanket statement about the role of dairy products and nightshade plants is not warranted. At our center we do suggest the use of food allergy testing in individuals who have arthritic symptoms that are troublesome and appear to be food-induced. For more information about food allergy testing, call us at (301) 694-5800.

Finally, dietary manipulation should not be used as a substitute for proper and aggressive conventional medical care. A rheumatologist should be consulted. <bio>Nathan Wei, MD FACP FACR is a rheumatologist and Director of the Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center of Maryland. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. For more info: http://www.arthritis-treatment-and-relief.com/arthritis-treatment.html </bio>

What is Laryngitis? The larynx houses your vocal chords which are which mucous membrane folds that cover cartilage and muscle. All of this forms the entrance to your wind pipe. If any infection or irritation occurs the larynx (voice box) becomes inflamed. This is referred as Laryngitis. With the inflammation and irritation that laryngitis causes, the swelling of the vocal chords that occurs from the inflammation or irritation causes the sound to distort as the air passes over the swollen vocal chords. When your vocal chords are healthy they open and close smoothly allowing for undistorted sounds occurring, which we recognise as normal speech. Short-term or acute laryngitis is not a serious disorder and can be cured relatively quickly. Long-term laryngitis however, also referred to as chronic laryngitis that presents itself with a persistent hoarseness can indicate a more serious condition, in which case you should see your doctor or medical health practitioner. Some of the causes of chronic laryngitis are from excessive alcohol use, a reflux of stomach acid into the throat or esophagus. This is called gastroesophageal reflux disease.

The symptoms of Laryngitis are quite easy to identify. They include a dry throat or dry cough. The throat may be come sore and raw along with a tickling sensation in the area of the larynx. Laryngitis will also cause the sufferer to develop a weak voice and their speech may become hoarse. Laryngitis often occurs along side other illnesses such as flu, cold or pneumonia. Often it is a viral infection that causes laryngitis, but laryngitis may also be caused by bacterial infections. Although the symptoms mentioned above can occur in people of any age, sometimes there are other symptoms that come with the disorder particularly in adults and the elderly. These include the paralysing of the vocal chords due to a lung tumor, stroke or an injury. Sores and growths on the vocal chords, such as ulcers, polyps or nodules. The loosing of the vocal chords associated with the elderly, due to aging. <bio>Janie Jonah http://www.perfectdrugrx.com (c) 2006, PerfectDrugRx.
Metabolizing and detoxifying alcohol is almost entirely the responsibility of the liver. So it's not unexpected that overly more drunkenness hurts the liver more than any new place in the system. In the United States, thick alcohol consumption in considered the almost significant danger element for chronic liver disease. During the 1980s, intoxicating fatty liver, intense intoxicating hepatitis, and intoxicating cirrhosis jointly accounted for 46 percent of deaths from chronic liver disease and 49 percentage of hospitalizations for liver disease.

The earliest evidence of liver harm id plump accretion, which can seem after simply a few days of thick drunkenness. Fatty liver recedes with abstinence but persists with continued drinking. Is fatty liver in and of itself harmful? The answer is condition. However, studies show 5 to 15 percent of people with alcoholic fatty liver who continue to drink develop liver fibrosis (excessive fibrous tissue) or cirrhosis (scarring) in only 5 to 10 years.

Fat accretion is one of several factors resulting in alcohol liver disease. With routine, higher intakes of alcohol, alcohol and acetaldehyde continually irritate and ignite the liver, producing intoxicating hepatitis (relentless inflammation of the liver) in 10 to 35 percent of thick drinkers. The incendiary procedure too generates available radicals that best off at liver cubicle. The destruction of liver cells becomes self-perpetuating, especially if antioxidant nutrients are unavailable to help break the cycle. If the intestines also have been damaged, toxins, including those produced by the gut's microorganisms. May be able to cross the intestinal barrier into circulation and worsen inflammation.

Alcoholic hepatitis may be treatable, but it's frequently deadly. Alcoholic hepatitis too predisposes an individual to liver cancer and cirrhosis, conditions that are normally deadly. With continued inflammation, the liver makes undue collagen and becomes fibrous (fibrotic liver disease) and scarred (cirrhosis). This ultimately kills liver cells by choking off tiny blood vessels that nourish them. About 10 to 20 percent of heavy drinkers develop cirrhosis.

Dietary changes may be helpful in liver disease, but abstinence from alcohol is essential to treatment. Reducing dietary fats somewhat reduces fat accumulation in the liver. Adequate micronutrients and a healthful balance of macronutrients probably speed recuperation from liver disease in their earlier stages. In last-stage liver disease, dietary restrictions, often of proteins, may slow disease progression or improve symptom. <bio>http://www.all4cirrhosis.com </bio>

Chronic Bad Breath-Do You Suffer with It?

Chronic bad breath is no laughing matter. If you have it you've possibly experienced embarrassment because of it and this is so unnecessary. Chronic bad breath is usually the consequence of physiological problems more than poor oral hygiene. Anyone with chronic bad breath has tried all the usual measures to fix the problem. Chronic bad breath can affect your life personally as well as professionally.Do you ever think pepoe might be talking about you behind your back?

Perhaps you question yourself and aren't exactly certain you have chronic bad breath.Consider the following experiences to see if you have chronic bad breath. If in doubt, do something about it anyway, because you can't go wrong.

I Have a Constant Bad Taste in My Mouth

Do you have a constant bad taste in your mouth? No matter how many times you brush or floss your teeth, you just can't get rid of the bad taste in your mouth .sometimes, even though we do our best, food particles remain in the mouth and break down thanks to the bacteria that live there.Good oral hygiene often addresses this but sometimes the bad taste remains.

Mint, Anyone?

Picture this. You've just begun a conversation with someone and the next thing you know they're searching in their pocket or purse for something and suddenly they produce a mint and ask you if you want one. Friends may not know how to tell you that you have bad breath so they do the next best thing by offering you a breath freshening agent. Hopefully, you get the clue and accept it making sure to take care of your chronic bad breath as soon as you can.

Breath fresheners only have a temporary effect and can often mask the odor for a brief period. Further action is required to fix chronic bad breath.

Sorry, didn't mean to get in your space.

When you're in conversation with others do they all stand close to you or do you find them backing up and using any number of excuses for doing so?

If this happens often you may need to seriously consider the effect your bad breath may be having on others. If you think friends are avoiding you, consider it might be because of chronic bad breath.

Ugh! I thought my tongue was supposed to be pink!

Look in the mirror and check out your tongue. Is it pink or does it have a nasty looking yellow or white coat? In recent years dentists have suggested that as part of our oral hygiene regime, we brush our tongues as well. Food can get trapped in the grooves in the tongue, bacteria steps in and whoa....stand back 'cause your breath is three alarm awful!

It's not that bad.

don't be upset if you've figured out you have chronic bad breath. you can do something about it and the end of the world is not coming. Go to your dentist and work out a plan that will effectively eliminate your chronic bad breath. <bio>Stop your bad breath today and get your confidence back. Your friends and family will love you for it.No more talking behind your back! http://bestbadbreathremedies.com </bio>

In its first onslaught, gout usually attacks the big toe. In fact, approximately 90% of people who develop gout develop gout symptoms in their big toe. However, it is possible for gout to affect other joints. Whether it occurs in the initial attack or in later recurrences, gout can also be present in the:

- Instep - Heel - Ankle - Knee - Finger - Wrist - Elbow

Why does gout affect other joints? Gout occurs in other parts of the body for the same reason as it occurs in the big toe. Essentially, the body has a build up of too much uric acid. The excess uric acid develops into crystals that are often deposited into joints.

Regardless of what joint gout affects, the first attack almost always strikes at night and the infected area becomes inflamed, red, swollen and incredibly tender and painful. Most initial gout attacks clear up with in 3 -- 10 days and more than half of the people, who have experienced an acute attack of gout, will have another attack within the year. If action isn't taken to prevent gout, over time, the recurrence of gout may become more frequent, last for longer periods of time and affect more joints.

For those gout sufferers who experience frequent lingering attacks, their gout condition will eventually become chronic. Chronic cases of gout involve more joints, and the constant presence of uric acid crystal deposits within the joint, and the soft tissues that surround it, leads to persistent inflammation. Chronic inflammation is a sign that destructive changes have occurred within the joint.

Furthermore, long-term cases of severe gouty arthritis will affect the fingers and can cause different joint to be inflamed simultaneously. This often occurs in elderly gout sufferers, and is a type of gout classified as polyarticular gout. In addition, those who failed to treat their gout condition, and experience regular attacks, will usually develop the most serious case of gout known as Chronic Tophacerious Gout, which usually occurs 10 -- 20 years after the initial attack.

Chronic tophacerious gout is characterized by the formation of tophi. Tophi are crystallized uric acid deposits that can be found directly under the surface of the skin in the joint area that is affected. The presence of tophi creates a lump. Small tophi may not be obvious, but they often appear as mobile lumps.

Larger tophi make its presence known by poking through the skin and forming hard chalk-like nodules.

Tophi nodules can appear on the: Outer ridge of the ear, forearms, elbows, hands, fingers, knees and feet.

Tophi nodules can become painful, especially if they are close enough to a joint that they restrict movement and cause stiffness. However, they usually are not sensitive to touch. Tophi within a joint will eventually cause the bone and cartilage to erode. Moreover, if the tophi are particularly large, permanent deformities can result. Chronic tophacerious gout is the most difficult form to treat.

As you can see, even though it isn't common during the initial attack, gout symptoms can affect almost any joint, and the risk of it going beyond the big toe increases with recurrences and age. Therefore, if you suffer or have suffered from gout, you need to make sure that you keep your uric acid in check to avoid future attacks and protect the health of your other joints. <bio>By Lisa McDowell.
The chronic disease arthritis means joint inflammation. Pain relief is the main area of concern for the sufferers of arthritis. People have often tried traditional medications without success, they are often not eligible for surgery and as a result, they will see relieve through natural arthritis treatment.

Debilitating Arthritis is a disease that causes pain and loss of movement of the joints. Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in people over the age of 55. Arthritis affects the movements you rely on for everyday activities. Arthritis refers to a group of more than 100 rheumatic diseases and other conditions that can cause pain, stiffness and swelling in the joints. These distinct conditions may require the special attention and the treatment for the arthritis symptoms and anxiety.

There are many forms of arthritis, each of which has a different cause. Inflammatory arthritis or the Osteoarthritis is characterized by inflammation of tissues of the cartilage associated with joints. Connective tissue diseases, crystal deposition diseases, infectious arthritis are examples of Osteoarthritis arthritis (OA). Rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis are autoimmune diseases in which the body is attacking itself. Septic arthritis is caused by joint infection. Gouty arthritis is caused by deposition of uric acid crystals in the joint that results in subsequent inflammation. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is traditionally considered a chronic, inflammatory autoimmune disorder that causes the immune system to attack the joints. It is a disabling and painful inflammatory condition, which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. Arthritis sufferers include men and women, children and adults.

Most type of the arthritis is the main cause of suffering for the people lasting life span. From the time of diagnosis, people must learn to manage arthritis pain and inflammation. Unfortunately, there is no cure treatment for arthritis pain relief, but some of the natural supplements, exercise, loosing weight and the application of the heat and cold therapy do prove good and improve the function and the flexibility of the joints and thus these ways are treated as the slowing down process of the disease arthritis.

The degenerative disease arthritis can be tackled by some the vitamin supplements. These vitamins are Vitamin B and Vitamin E. The vitamin E supplements are treated to be the antioxidant that is helpful in suppressing the Osteoarthritis joint pain. Vitamin B is also an effective pain reliever. It works best on the knee and can help stop degeneration that is caused by free-radical molecules, not only in the joints but in other areas of the body as well. <bio>Discover which safe http://www.universitylabtechnologies.net arthritis products can cure joint pain as well as promote well being.Free information for http://www.university-lab-technologies.com/facial-skin-care.htm facial skin care products and health and beauty products. </bio>

Arthritis generally comes in two forms osteoarthritis and inflammatory-arthritis. For this article we will discuss inflammatory-arthritis and natural herbal alternatives for reducing swelling and pain. The popular option for controlling arthritis pain is taking prescribed non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; these drugs have been linked to cardiovascular, kidney and liver disease. If that doesn't sound appealing, natural alternatives are available for inflammatory arthritis. Herbs like boswellia, ginger, skullcap, turmeric, acacia, hops, holy basil, feverfew, and white willow bark. Fortunately supplement manufacturers have learned about the anti-inflammatory properties of these herbs and do make them in various combinations to help relieve swelling and pain.

The first one on the list is boswellia, has a long history of use as a mild anti-inflammatory herb for joint pain and stiffness, and noted by herbalists of its effectiveness. The primary compound in boswellia known for its anti-inflammatory affect is boswellic acid, when purchasing boswellia always look for products standardized to boswellic acid. Ginger root has been known for its anti-inflammatory affects as well, ginger inhibits the production of the immune-system components called cytokines which cause inflammation in the body. Ginger is also known as a COX-1 and COX-2 inhibitor in suppressing prostaglandin synthesis which would reduce inflammation in the body. Ginger also stimulates circulation helping the body bring vital blood and nutrients to the inflamed areas of the body. Skullcap is used in traditional Chinese medicine as an anti-inflammatory herb. Turmeric also known as Curcumin has been used in Asia, India, china, central and south America as an anti-inflammatory herb for many years. The curcuminoids in turmeric has been clinically proven to reduce inflammation. Turmeric is also a potent antioxidant good for fighting free radical damage which tend to cause inflammation in the body. Acacia and hops are both traditionally used for inflammation and pain. Feverfew since the first century has been used for the treatment of headaches, fever, menstrual discomfort, arthritis, and other aches and pains. According to a clinical trial study in England, feverfew when taken for three to four months can reduce the severity and frequency of migraines and other sorts of pain. Feverfew acts in a manner like the class of pain relievers known as COX-2 inhibitors, feverfew also reduces the absorption of thymidine by white blood cells, this will reduce the rate at which leukotrienes is produced which is a inflammatory chemical in the body. Finally, white willow bark has been used like aspirin as a pain killer with out the aspirin side effects. White willow has been used for fever, colds, minor infections, acute and chronic rheumatic disorders, mild headaches, and pain caused by inflammation. According to a clinical study done on white willow bark in England, researchers at the center for Complementary Health Studies at the University of Exeter gave eighty two participants with chronic arthritic pain either Reumalex, herbal supplement with white willow, or placebo. After two months the white willow herb proved to be superior to the placebo pill.

This is by far a complete list of herbs good for reducing inflammation in the body but it is a good start to help you on your way to recovering from inflammatory arthritis. As always, the statements in this article are not intended to diagnose, treat and cure or prevent disease please consult your health care physician before discontinuing medication or introducing herbs into your diet if you are currently on medication of any kind. <bio>Visit VitaNet® Health Foods at http://vitanetonline.com/.. A chalazion is sometimes confused with a stye which also appears as a lump in the eyelid.

In rare cases, cancerous tumors of the eyelid can appear like a stye or chalazion. Do not wear eye makeup or contact lenses until the stye or chalazion heals. Granulomas are inflammatory growths on the inside or outside of the eyelid, and can occur after a stye, or chalazion.

In some cases of staph blepharitis, a red eye may develop or a sty may form. Inflammation of an eyelash follicle with a lump called a sty or hordeolum is usually caused by staph.

If you get styes frequently, see your eye doctor for an examination. Finally, if you suffer from recurring styes, your eye doctor might prescribe a low-dose antibiotic for long-term use. Consult an eye specialist if the inflammation persists for more than 2 weeks, styes recur, or the stye rubs against the eye and irritates it. Bad styes or recurrent styes may need an antibiotic eye ointment as prescribed by your specialist.

Some good prevention method for eye stys are simple things like not sharing make up. Avoid sharing eye makeup, especially if you are prone to recurring styes. Refrain from wearing eye makeup while the stye is active. Although most styes and chalazia are not contagious, best practice should also include not sharing towels, washcloths, or handkerchief.

Your eye doctor may recommend replacing your contact lenses after the stye has healed to prevent recurrence or spread of the infection. If you do not, the infection may spread to the oil glands of the eyelid and cause a stye. Ask an optometrist a question about eye styes when you are purchasing any new contact lenses. <bio>Come Find out more on Eye Sty, visit http://EyeSty.smartreviewguide.com </bio>
