Cleaning your kitchen is a necessary chore in order to have a clean working environment and also to avoid health hazards. Cleaning your kitchen will go faster if you have a checklist to follow. Here's some helpful cleaning tips:

How to clean a porcelain kitchen sink:

**Stop up the sink and fill sink with warm water, then add chlorine bleach. Let water soak in sink for one hour. For more stubborn stains, line sink with paper towels saturated with chlorine and let them sit in the there for 8 to 10 hours. WARNING: Do not use chlorine bleach for sinks that are cracked or too porous, this will cause the bleach to leak through and damage the iron base, which leads to rusting.

How to clean a steel sink:

**Wash sink with hot sudsy water. Avoid abrasive cleansers.

**Clean and polish with glass cleaner.

**Remove scratches or pit spots by rubbing sink gently with very fine steel wool. Buff with a soft cloth.

Get rid of kitchen sink odor -- once every week pour one handful of baking soda down the drain and run hot water for a minute or so. You can also pour 1 cup of vinegar down the drain and let it sit for 30 minutes, rinse with hot water.

Avoid clogged drains -- never pour cooking grease or coffee grounds down the kitchen drain.

Hardened food stains -- the quickest way to get rid of hardened food stains is to pry them up with an ice scraper. If you have more patience, you can soak stains with soapy water, which will dissolve them.

Clean countertop stains -- most countertop stains can be cleaned up with baking soda and a damp soft cloth. For persistent stains add a little chlorine bleach to a damp cloth and wipe.

Deodorize your cutting board -- to remove smells from your wooden cutting board, rub it with a freshly cut lemon, rinse and dry. <bio>Donna Monday Are you embarrassed to have friends and family over because your home is always so messy?
We all enjoy soaking or swimming in a warm crystal clear pool or hot tub yet at times keeping that sparkle can be a trying experience. Keeping your pools chemicals in the proper range is not only necessary to maintain that sparkle but also to keep your pool or hot tub safe for swimmers.

There are three basic ways to keep your pool clean and safe for swimming the traditional chlorine system, biguanide and mineral systems each are safe and effective for use in outdoor pools and hot tubs. Each system needs to be used independently of the other so which ever system you start using you must continue to use that system. You will also need to purchase the proper testing equipment for your system.

The old standard chlorine is available almost every place from your local pool supply store to Wal-Mart it is relatively cheap and easy to monitor and use. The big drawbacks of chlorine are it is harsh on your skin and can cause bathing suits and hair color to fade. Stabilized chlorine should be used in a pool or hot tub that is exposed to sunlight if your spa is inside or is not in direct sunlight non stabilized chlorine can be used.

The next type of pool sanitizers are the mineral systems these release minerals such as copper, zinc and silver into the water to keep the pool or hot tub algae and bacteria free. Generally the mineral system does use a small amount of chlorine to make sure the system is efficacious.

The third type of pool sanitizer is the "Bio" type of sanitizers such as Bioguard and BioDex. These all liquid sanitizers are very easy to use but they do require a specific testing unit and can not be used with chlorine. These sanitizers do not have the same harsh effects of chlorine and do not bleach out hair and swim suits.

Every type of pool sanitizers requires an oxidizer, the oxidizer or shock treatment removes the oils, lotions and other unwanted contaminations form the pool. Not all shock treatments are the same although monopersulfate which is an oxygen based oxidizer. Chlorine based shock treatments are also oxygen based. Chlorine shock should never be used with the Biguanide sanitizing system uses hydrogen peroxide as the main oxidizer.

No matter what type of sanitizer you use in your pool or hot tub you need to start with the basics. Make sure your Ph is between 7.4 and 7.6 this prevents corrosion and scale build up and reduces the irritation to swimmers skin and eyes. <bio>Jake Plumer is a writer for http://www.a1hottub.com. </bio>

Three Roof Cleaning Methods: Stained by algae or not, roofs are cleaned using any of three common methods, each of which has its own set of pros and cons. These methods are, pressure washing, and the application of solutions containing either, chlorine bleach or sodium hydroxide. When performed correctly and only once, these techniques clean roofs effectively without significant adverse effects. The problem is, they usually have to be repeated every six to 18 months to maintain cleanliness.

Chlorine Solution Washes: Chlorine bleach solution application requires a lot less rinsing than the two other methods, thereby allowing a cleaning procedure of shorter duration. One good consequence of a quicker process is less wear and tear for the roof. However, chlorine can be toxic to some people and plants, so care should be exercised to protect employees or residents, as well as the property itself, from spray runoffs. Asphalt shingle roofs are particularly well adapted to this type of cleaning.

Sodium Hydroxide-based Cleaning: Sodium hydroxide-based cleaners are very effective degreasers, but they require a lot more rinsing than chlorine solutions. As a result, using this type of cleaning agent can be time-consuming and carries with it greater risk for causing damage to the roof. And, while only 100 psi of force is needed to rinse away a sodium hydroxide-based compound on an asphalt shingle roof, some amount of asphalt granule loss is to be expected still. Even if advertisements would have us believe otherwise, sodium hydroxide can be toxic too, and should be kept from coming into contact with persons and property, and especially plants in the surrounding landscape. It is also caustic, so high levels of this compound may cause irreversible damage to roofs, especially those made of asphalt shingles.

Pressure Washing: Pressure washing is an option only for roofs made either of concrete, metal or barrel tiles. One of the distinct advantages of this method is that it does not require the use of chemicals, which does away with some costs, and which makes it more environment-friendly. This procedure, however, requires more time to perform and may exert more strain than some roofs can handle. Another downside is that it can wash away the thin layer of coloring with which some roof tiles are coated. The natural gray color of the concrete roof begins to show through, requiring the additional task of painting or staining. <bio>http://www.pressurewashingking.com </bio>

Best time to clean your bathroom -- take advantage of that fresh out of the shower dew that's just settled all over your bathroom. No need to fill a bucket full of water, just take a paper towel and wipe off the loosened dirt.

Cleaning bathroom tile and grout -- one of the hardest things to clean in any bathroom is tile and that dirty grout that over time looks more and more gross.

To clean ceramic tile: mix 1 part vinegar with 4 parts water, or, make a solution of water conditioner and water. Wipe down with a soft cloth. Rinse tile thoroughly. Buff with a soft dry cloth.

To clean bathroom grout: add 3/4 cup chlorine bleach to 1 gallon of water. Put on rubber gloves and using a toothbrush, wash grout with bleach solution. Rinse grout well.

Cleaning bathroom floor -- a fast way to clean your bathroom floor is to apply a spray disinfectant to the floor and wipe off with paper towels or a clean cloth.

How to clean a clogged showerhead -- to get rid of accumulated mineral deposits on a showerhead, remove the showerhead and take it apart. Soak the pieces in a bowl of vinegar. Take a toothbrush and clean out remaining sediment. Replace showerhead.

Cleaning toilet bowl ring -- get rid of that dirty ring around the toilet by pouring some chlorine bleach into the toilet bowl and letting it sit for a few minutes. Flush to rinse. This method rivals the best commercial toilet bowl cleaner.

Cleaning a fiberglass bath tub -- fiberglass tubs can be a little harder to clean than other types. A water conditioner like Calgon works well for these types of tubs.

Clean dull shower door -- clean dull shower doors with a cloth saturated with distilled white vinegar or water softener. Buff dry with a clean cloth.

Cleaning plastic shower curtains -- machine wash plastic curtains in warm water with a water conditioner like Calgon. Hang dry. For mildewed curtains add 3/4 cup chlorine bleach to wash cycle.

Removing nonskid rubber tub decals -- remove these sticky decals with a straightedge razor (in a holder) that has been dipped in soapy water. Remove remaining residue with nail polish remover. <bio>Donna Monday Are you embarrassed to have friends and family over because your home is always so messy?
Chances are you know about following the how to clean instructions on labels that are sewn into your cloths? But what if you spill wine, or find that you have a nasty rust stain on your new blouse or shirt?

The first thought that may enter your mind, can I or can't I use bleach safely? Labels at best tell you weather its safe to wash or dry clean only. Sometimes a label will mention if it's safe to use bleach or not. But much of the time there is no mention of bleach, or weather it can be used when laundering? Many of today newer fabrics, including colored fabrics, need bleach as well as detergent to help keep them clean, and free of stains.

A good tip to follow: When to use bleach? When the label doesn't mention bleaching or says bleach when needed, you can safely use chlorine or non-chlorine bleach on the article of clothing, as a rule.

Now, what about stains that bleach just won't get out or the fabric won't tolerate bleach? I have listed some stain removal tips on common substances that as a rule are very hard to get out. Please keep in mind all of these stain removal tips work better if the garment is tended to quickly, without the stain having time to set, and dry. Depending how bad the stain is will determine the number of times the stain treatment may have to be repeated.

1. Wine:

Treat stain promptly. Apply a mixture of laundry detergent and glycerin, sponge in, leave in for a few minutes; sponge the stain with cool water. If persists repeat.

2. Grass or foliage:

Sponge the stain with rubbing alcohol. Then rub laundry detergent into stain, rinse with cool water. Repeat until stain is gone. Then launder article.

3. Ink:

Apply lukewarm water and glycerin to the stain. Blot with paper towel. Repeat until stain is gone.

4. Paint:

Treat stain immediately. Wash garment immediately in warm water and detergent. If stain does not come out sponge stain with turpentine, then soak garment over night in hot water.

5. Perspiration:

Sponge the garment with ammonia. Wash in warm water. If stain is old, sponge with white vinegar, let sit 10 minutes launder in warm water.

6. Rust:

Moisten stain with water. Sprinkle stain with salt. Drip on fresh lemon juice. Dry in the sun. Then wash in warm water, and detergent.

7. Urine:

Sponge the stain with white vinegar. Wash in cold water and detergent.

8. Blood:

Soak article in cold water. For old blood stains sponge stain with ammonia, then wash with cold water and detergent.

9. Coffee and Tea:

Immediately wet stain with hot water, work in laundry detergent into stain. Wash in hot water.

10. Axle grease or oil:

Scrape as much of the oil off as you can, wet with hot water, rub in detergent. Wash in warm water.

11. Chewing gum:

Rub stain with an ice cube .Scrape gum off with dull kitchen knife. Wash in detergent.

12. Cosmetics and crayon:

Apply liquid soap and rub into stain. Rinse thoroughly. For last trace of stain sponge stain with a mixture of liquid soap and ammonia, then wash in warm water. <bio>For more information on stain removal, please visit the following urls: http://www.oldandsold.com/articles11/miscellaneous-recipes-3.shtml and http://www.oldandsold.com/articles23/dressing-well-119.shtml </bio>

They are ugly, they stink and they are unhealthy -- I am talking about molds. Numerous houses all over the world have mold problem.

Once molds grow inside your house, you have to kill mold. Otherwise mold would make all the members of family sick.

What kills mold?

Bleach? A lot of people prefer using bleach over any other mold cleaning product; however, if you search the web or ask the experts, you would get mixed feedback about the success of using bleach to kill molds and mildews.

One group of people believes that bleach does not kill mold whereas other believes that it does. Then which one is correct? Most reasonable answer is, perhaps, it partially cleans mold; hence both the answers are correct.

Bleach as a mold cleaner:

Bleach is inexpensive and easily available in the market. It is a popular sanitizer, however it has certain limitations.

Bleach works well on non-metallic, non-porous and hard surface. Bleach can kill mold when molds grow on non-porous and hard surface, otherwise not. Now, that's something not possible. Molds can grow anywhere -- on carpets, upholstery, curtains, leather goods, and wood etc.

If you stick to bleach, you won't be able to remove mold from carpet, upholstery or any other fibrous and porous substrate.

Secondly, bleach cannot remove mold from dirty surface. When the moldy surface contains lots of dust particles, bleach goes on oxidizing the organic dust particles leaving molds and mildews untouched.

Hence, before you start cleaning mold with bleach, you need to clean the surface essentially. However, you can avoid this double-cleaning episode if you use natural mold cleaning products. Natural mold cleaners are effective cleaning agents and remove molds from infected substrate efficiently; it does not matter whether the surface is clean or dirty. If you use spray based black mold cleaner, you can remove molds almost effortlessly -- no scrubbing, no washing.

Thirdly, you have to prepare a strong solution of bleach to get positive result. 1 cup of bleach should be mixed with 1 gallon of water. Then you need to spray it over the infested surface and let it remain there for half an hour.

Exposure to such high density bleaching solution can be health hazardous. Nascent chlorine that evolves from bleaching agent is not good for health and can lead to respiratory trouble. Moreover, if the dense solution falls on human skin accidentally, it can leave ugly scars and damage the skin.

Whereas, organic mold removers are free from side effects.
Chlorination has been the traditional method of pool sanitation for decades--almost by default, since there were no alternatives for this crucial aspect of owning a swimming pool. However, for many pool owners, chlorination is an old and outdated pool sanitation method they've discarded in favor of maintaining a salt water pool.

Chlorine

So what's the problem with chlorine, anyway? It does exactly what it needs to--kills algae and bacteria, keeping the pool attractive and more importantly, a safe and sanitary place to swim. A pool that doesn't get regular chlorine treatments will quickly become clogged with thick green algae. Depending on where you live, and especially in a warm climate like Florida, an untreated pool can become a green, sludgy nightmare inside of a week--the chlorine is definitely important.

If you maintain a chlorinated pool, however, it's not enough to dump chlorine in periodically and let the pool fend for itself. There are other chemicals to add too, as well as regular testing to keep an eye on water quality. For example, you must make sure there is enough free available chlorine (meaning chlorine that is active) in the water to keep up with sanitizing the water. This is usually done with the use of weekly chlorine tablets.

Another important aspect of this maintenance is PH levels--the acidity or alkalinity of the water. If the PH gets too high, the chlorine in the pool isn't able to work as efficiently. However, if the PH drops too low, the water quickly becomes too acidic to swim in comfortably. Keeping the PH at the right level is somewhat difficult, because the range at which it's 'just right' is very narrow and many factors, including rain, affect this.

Chlorine is important for sanitation, but for many people it's also a source of irritation. The harsh chemicals that are added to pre-packaged pool chlorine irritate the skin and eyes, making swimming a highly unpleasant experience. It is important to note that it's not the chlorine that's the problem--in most cases it's the chemicals which are added to the pre-packaged mix.

Salt Water

The main advantage of a salt water pool isn't that it doesn't use chlorine. In fact, a salt water pool does use chlorine to keep the water clean. The advantage is that the pool owner doesn't add chlorine to the pool--that means no pre-packaged chlorine, and less irritation for people who are sensitive to the added chemicals. Salt water tends to be much softer than chlorinated water, so it's much more pleasurable to swim in, and is much less harsh on your skin. In addition, a salt water pool usually has a much lower concentration of chlorine than a chlorinated pool.

Another important benefit is more of a long-term one. In the short term, converting from chlorine to a salt water pool will involve some cash outlay, since there are a few system components you'll need to by. It'll run approximately $1000-$1500 to convert a traditional chlorine system to a salt water system. Over two or three years, however, the money you spend is recouped due to not having to buy extra chlorine for the pool. Just a bag of salt which is much less expensive.

Just to be clear though, salt water pools do in fact use chlorine to sanitize and the water. So if you are not adding chlorine tablets or shock, how does that work?

It works because of the chemical composition of salt, which is made up of chlorine and sodium. Within the salt water system is a unit called a salt-chlorine generator, which uses electrolysis to generate chlorine by separating the sodium and chlorine molecules in the salt you add to the pool. As the generator unit separates out the chlorine, it's returned to the pool, where it keeps the water clean and sanitary.

A well-maintained salt pool is an absolute delight to swim in, with softer, more comfortable water that doesn't irritate. It doesn't taste salty, either, as you might think, because it has such a low concentration of salt that it's officially considered to be fresh water! In the ocean, the salt concentration is between 20,000 to 35,000 parts per million, whereas in a salt water pool, it's just 3,000 to 6,000.

Finally, don't be fooled into thinking that a salt water pool maintains itself. It doesn't. You still need to check PH levels and carry out other maintenance tasks. However, you'll benefit from lower maintenance costs and a more enjoyable swimming experience, which definitely makes it worthwhile.<bio>Calum and Kathleen MacKenzie are Owners of Real Living Southern Homes a leading real estate company serving the Tampa FL real estate market.
Want to brew the perfect cup of coffee?

Here are 3 simple tips that will make a difference in every single cup you drink.

Tip #1 Clean Coffee Pot

A clean pot is essential and can make a world of difference in the taste of your coffee. Old oils from previous batches of coffee and soap residue left on the pot makes coffee taste bad.

Baking soda and water work well for cleaning coffee mugs and pots. Be sure to rinse extra good so no residue is left behind.

Tip #2 Clean Filtered Water

The water you use for your coffee will affect the taste more than anything. Coffee is 99% water so use clean filtered or bottled water free from chlorine and other minerals that will affect the taste of your coffee.

Using stainless steel or gold mesh filters instead of paper filters will also make your coffee taste better. Paper filters release dyes, chlorine and bleach that affect taste. If you insist on using paper filters buy the unbleached, brown paper filters.

Tip #3 Use Fresh Quality Coffee

Quality coffee costs more but will consistently produce better tasting coffee.

For the best results use quality, whole bean coffee and grind the coffee beans just prior to use. You might think it's an inconvenience compared to ground coffee, but once you taste the difference you'll never go back.

If you still want to use ground coffee, make sure you use a good, drip grind coffee.

Use 2 level tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water. This can be adjusted for individual taste preference. Make sure to spread the grounds evenly in the coffee filter so full brewing is achieved.

Drink your fresh coffee right away for the best flavor. Coffee will break down quickly if left on a heat source. Coffee should never be reheated or microwaved.

A clean, preheated air pot or stainless steel Thermos will keep coffee hot for about an hour without hurting the flavor.

If you follow these 3 simple tips, every cup you brew will be perfect coffee. <bio>JH Reynolds is a coffee enthusiast who travels around the world in search of the best beans and exotic flavors.
Butcher-block counter tops and tables give a beautiful effect to any modern kitchen. The woods used include Maple, beech and ash. If you are giving your kitchen a makeover then think about replacing laminate top work surfaces with butcher-block ones. Butcher block is made from strips of wood glued together to look like one solid piece.

The natural variation present in any wood gives interest and beauty to the surface. Work surfaces made from solid wood are never going to date, they just ooze quality and you do away with all the disadvantages of laminates. No more scratches, no more scorch marks or stains.

Maintenance of butcher-block tables and surfaces is what concerns most people. More maintenance is required than for marble, granite or laminate. Wood is porous, so the surface should never be left wet. Bacteria from meat and other foodstuffs will flourish if the surface is not cleaned adequately after each use.

Wash down with a dilute dishwashing solution after every use, then rinse this off and dry the wood thoroughly. After cutting meat or chicken on your butcher-block surface you should wash the surface with a 10% solution of a chlorine-based bleach. Leave the bleach on the surface for 10-15 minutes, then rinse and allow it to dry.

You will need to oil the surface with clear paraffin oil occasionally, just wipe the surface with a little oil on a cloth, leave it for about an hour, then wipe off any excess oil.

It is not a good idea to cut on your surface because it will soon be damaged, no matter what coating is applied. Buy a butcher block chopping board for this purpose, treat it in the same way, but the cutting board is easily replaced or sanded down and resealed if it is damaged.

Find out more at http://www.butchers-block.info. <bio>Loreno Lepe has a background in the chemical and construction industries.
Those persons who work near a chlorine pool, such as swimming instructors, life guards, or even administrators may be damaging their lungs. A recent study in the European Respiratory Journal found that harmful compounds in the air can damage delicate lung tissue and cause an increase in respiratory illness.

The study interviewed 624 persons who are in close contact with a chlorine pool for a significant period of time during their day. Then the air was sampled at those pools the subjects were exposed to.

The researchers were most interested in a chlorine compounds known as chloramines. These are formed with chlorine, which is used to sanitize pool water, reacts with human waste products such as sweat and urine.

The most potent chloramine is trichloramine, which is known to cause respiratory symptoms.

Trichloroamine levels were found to be at least 3 times higher in pools than other areas. Those person with the greatest exposure, namely swimming instructors and life guards had more than twice the incidence of upper respiratory illnesses such as sore throat and sinus infections compared to the lesser exposed persons, such as those in administration. Their risk of chronic upper respiratory illness was more than 3 times.

When the researchers compared the respiratory symptoms to the common population, there was more than a 40 percent increase in chest tightness in those routinely exposed to trichloramines and the incidence was more than 7 times the general population for shortness of breath on exertion.

The authors stress that pool safety should not only focus on the water quality but also the air quality. Trichloramines and other noxious compounds in the air could severely damage lung function with long term exposure, even in an otherwise healthy person.

There are chlorine alternatives available on the market today. While these may not make sense for public pools at this time, lifeguards should limit their exposure by taking 10 minute breaks to get fresh air away from the pool along with shorter shifts if that is an option. <bio>Supplement News delivers frequently updated information into the specific categories of our blog.
Shower water filters are an essential component to any complete home water filtration system. A shower water filter allows you to enjoy a warm and relaxing shower, without the potential risk of exposure to harmful elements found in standard tap water. Chlorine is one of the biggest problems found in normal tap water. If your body is continually exposed to chlorine during a shower, it can lead to problems such as dry skin, irritated eyes or color distortion of the hair. This is due to the fact that chlorine strips the natural protective oils from the skin and hair, which leads to the excess dryness. If the chlorine is filtered out of the water, the skin and hair will greatly benefit. Removing chlorine can also be beneficial for individuals suffering from asthma and allergy sufferers, as inhalation of chlorine vapors can complicate those conditions. Showering with unfiltered tap water can be compared to spending ten to twenty minutes in an extremely chlorinated pool everyday. The most well-known shower water filter is the Aquasana Shower Filter, which retails for sixty to eighty dollars, depending on where it is purchased.

Shower waters filters can be easily installed in a few minutes. Once the water filter is properly installed, it provides healthy, chemical free water for showering. The best feature of the shower filter is its efficiency in removing chlorine from the water. It also greatly reduces harmful VOCs, which are the same harmful substances found in paints and pesticides. The filter also enhances the pH balance, which creates an overall healthier showering environment.

Most shower filters have an average life span of six months or ten thousand gallons. The filter can handle operating temperatures of 115 degrees, which is more than ample, as most average shower temperatures are 100 degrees. The filter fits well on the head of the shower. Most filters use two stages to purify the tap water. The first stage of the filter system removes all chlorine and improves the pH balance. The shower filter system brings the pH of the water to 7.5. This is accomplished by using a natural copper and zinc mineral media, which is called KDF-55D. KDF-55D removes any acidic components in the water, while retaining helpful trace minerals. The second stage of the filtering process employs a carbonized coconut shell media, which is responsible for the task of removing any synthetic chemicals and VOCs.

Most shower filters come with an adjustable pressure shower head which prevents any loss of water pressure. The filter systems are also compatible with most standard shower heads and hand held shower heads. In addition to providing health benefits, shower water filters also remove limestone, marble and other hard metals from the tap water. This helps to prevent scaling and hard water deposits in the shower or bathtub. <bio>Mike Tracy writes guides and reviews for Water Filters at http://Blueble.com.
Cleaning and purifying the water in your hot tub may not sound as easy or pleasant as it seems. Scraping off dirt and residue from various parts of the hot tub, constantly using the foul-smelling chlorine and bromine -- heck, it sounds like hot tubs are all trouble, right?

Well, not necessarily. You can easily make the hot tub maintenance much easier by installing hot tub ozonators. These things generate ozone gas, which is then introduced to the water. Then the real fun begins. Ozone gas acts as a water disinfectant, purifier and cleaner, killing all bacteria, viruses, yeasts, mol, mildews and cysts on contact, while leaving no trace whatsoever, except bubbles in the water. Speaking in scientific terms, (let's remember chemistry here) when an ozone molecule comes to contact with the bacteria, an oxygen atom is separated from the molecule and it then attaches to the bacteria itself. The result of the process above means one thing -- the bacteria is killed. Instantly. After doing its job, the ozone molecule transforms to oxygen.

Hot tub ozonators also highly reduce the need to use various water cleaning chemicals, like chlorine and bromine. That is a very nice thing, because you can kiss good-bye the dreaded chlorine smell, which is already typically associated with all the swimming pools and hot tubs. Hot tub ozonators, however, do not fully remove all other water cleansing means from the picture, but as mentioned before, greatly reduce the need to use them, and makes the whole process much more effective.

All this together means that the hot tub ozonators clean the water about 3,000 times faster that all-chemical-only water cleaning methods. Additionally, when chlorine is not used so often, the probability of skin irritation and burning sensation of the eyes, decreases significantly, too. So in all, the use of hot tub ozonators saves money and saves your well-being while making your hot tub water crystal clear and pure. When you employ hot tub ozonators, water quality remains better and you can keep the same water in the hot tub for longer. This will in turn decrease the wear and tear of your hot tub. <bio>George W. Smith - Hot Tub Expert, an administrator of http://www.hotin.eu Hot Tubs portal.
Sometimes it seems like there is an endless variety of products when it comes to teeth whitening. You make your way ever so slowly down the 'oral care' section at the pharmacy and are virtually bombarded by teeth whitening choices: special toothpastes, bottles of polish, tubes of sticky bleach, press-on bleaching strips, a night-time tray to wear for two weeks. What is a well-intentioned, yellow-toothed person to do?

We've likely all made the decision to engage in some teeth-whitening activities at some point in our lives, but it's probably fair to say that in the case of tooth-bleaching products, variety is the gateway to disappointment. Inevitably, attached to many of these apparent miracle whiteners is a hefty price tag, and that just won't win out when we have no idea how to choose.

Many of us, after a good half an hour of perusal, will simply pick up the cheapest available product -- or possibly the second least expensive product -- and head to the cash register. Let's face it, we aren't shelling out our hard-earned cash on something that might prove completely useless. Better to leave with a cheap tube of whitening toothpaste and hope for the best.

In light of human nature and tendency towards common sense, it is best to approach the issue of teeth whitening with a basic knowledge of how the most common products should work. Depending on the level of success you are imagining, you may require a different product than someone else who may only want to brighten an already glittering smile.

The most successful whitening products will contain actual bleach, in varying degrees and ratios. Always keep in mind that bleach is a harsh chemical with the ability to damage sensitive nerves within your teeth -- if the instructions say to leave on for 15 minutes, do as they say!

Products containing bleach are the most effective for removing stains, and will be priced a lot higher than some of the other whitening methods. Toothpastes and tooth polishes, for example, will be the cheapest options -- this is for a reason. Both of these commonly used products have very little effect on badly stained teeth, and will instead enhance an already basically white set of teeth.

When choosing from the myriad of whitening products, think about two things: how badly do I want this to work? And how much is it worth to me? <bio>Christine Loxley writes for http://www.toothwhitencare.com, a website packed with information on tooth whitening and tooth whitening kits </bio>

Water filters are an essential component of a healthy lifestyle. Whether you have a countertop water filter, refrigerator water, whole house water filter or others, having clean, filtered water in your house is more important than you may even realize. To begin with, most tap contains VOCs. VOCs, or volatile organic compounds, include a variety of chemicals that can cause negative health conditions, both short-term and long-term. Along with being found in tap water, VOCs are found in thousands of products including glues, paints and pesticides. Short-term effects of VOCs include irritation of the eye, nose and throat, headaches and nausea.

Carbon is also responsible for removing impurities such as pesticides and insecticides. Consumption of these impurities can lead to serious stomach complications or other bodily ailments. Another essential feature of water filters is their ability to remove chlorine from the water. In addition to greatly improving the taste and odor of tap water, the removal of chlorine provides significant health benefits. If you are using a shower or whole house water filter, the removal of chlorine can improve your body's health. Excess amounts of chlorine can cause conditions such as thinning of the hair or major irritation of the skin. Showering in water that is unfiltered is similar to spending too much time in an over-chlorinated pool.

Water filters also remove intestinal parasite, known as giardia. Giardia can cause unpleasant symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea or cramps. By using a water filter, unsafe tap water can be transformed into drinking water that is not only pleasant but also much more healthy.

Before purchasing any type of water filter, it is important to do some research on the brand and specific filter you are planning to purchase. A study conducted by a California environmental group concluded that certain brands of water filters can actually increase the amount of lead in water. This situation normally occurred when filters were attached to brass faucets. Consumption of lead can negatively affect almost every system within the body. The effects of lead are most detrimental towards fetuses, infants and children. This is because their tissue is much more sensitive than that of an adult. <bio>For more information about house water filters please visit http://WaterFilters.Blueble.com and buy water filters online. </bio>

Mold exposure does not always present a health problem indoors. However some people are sensitive to molds. These people may experience symptoms such as nasal stuffiness, eye irritation, wheezing, or skin irritation when exposed to molds. Some people may have more severe reactions to molds. Severe reactions may occur among workers exposed to large amounts of molds in occupational settings, such as farmers working around moldy hay. Severe reactions may include fever and shortness of breath. Immunocompromised persons and persons with chronic lung diseases like COPD are at increased risk for opportunistic infections and may develop fungal infections in their lungs.

How to Remove Molds? In most cases mold can be removed from hard surfaces by a thorough cleaning with commercial products, soap and water, or a bleach solution of 1 cup of bleach in 1 gallon of water. Absorbent or porous materials like ceiling tiles, drywall, and carpet may have to be thrown away if they become moldy. If you have an extensive amount of mold and you do not think you can manage the cleanup on your own, you may want to contact a professional who has experience in cleaning mold in buildings and homes. It is important to properly clean and dry the area as you can still have an allergic reaction to parts of the dead mold and mold contamination may recur if there is still a source of moisture.

If you choose to use bleach to clean up mold:

1. Never mix bleach with ammonia. Mixing bleach and ammonia can produce dangerous, toxic fumes. 2. Open windows and doors to provide fresh air. 3. Wear non-porous gloves and protective eye wear. 4. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions when using bleach or any other cleaning product.

Specific Recommendations to prevent Mold:

1. Keep humidity level in house between 40% and 60%. 2. Use air conditioner or a dehumidifier during humid months. 3. Be sure the home has adequate ventilation, including exhaust fans in kitchen and bathrooms. 4. Use mold inhibitors which can be added to paints. 5. Clean bathroom with mold-killing products. 6. Do not carpet bathrooms. 7. Remove and replace flooded carpets.

Toxic mold spores can become airborne during the cleaning. Before cleanup begins, the affected area should be contained and HVAC systems should be shut down to prevent the spores from spreading.

Each area affected by mold should be separately contained. Use plastic sheeting and duct tape to seal doorways, vents, and other openings.

Where possible, place an exhaust fan in a window that is open to the outdoors to direct air flow and mold spores outside.

To limit health risks and reduce the spread of mold spores ensure dust levels are kept to a minimum. Air purifiers and /or Ionizers can be used to minimize airborne particulate. <bio>Is Toxic Black Mold Really Toxic?
It can be hard to keep your carpet looking good. You probably know that you need to vacuum your carpet regularly and clean it at least once a year but do you know about all of the hidden dangers in your home. Things that can potentially ruin your carpet. Keep reading this short article and learn about a few of the uncommon dangers to your carpet in your home.

One uncommon danger to your carpet is acne medication. If you have children in their teens you probably have several bottles of this lying around your home. The problem with acne medication is that it can bleach your carpet. So if your child applies this medication then touches the carpet they can cause a bleach spot. It will not appear right away but instead will bleach the carpet gradually or with the next carpet cleaning. To prevent this type of damage be sure that your children wash their hands thoroughly after applying acne medication. Also make sure that they store it and use it in areas away from carpeting.

Another uncommon danger to your carpet is latex backed bathroom rugs. These are common in many homes but they can pose a serious threat to carpet. The latex backing, when new, will off gas and could react with your homes carpet turning it yellow. This yellow stain is usually permanent and can not be removed. To prevent this type of damage be sure to buy bath rugs without a latex backing. To minimize the chance of damage if you do buy a latex backed rug, place the rug out in the sun to let the latex backing cure completely.

The last uncommon danger to your carpet that I will talk about is plants. Planters should never be placed on the carpet. They will inevitably at some time or another be over watered. When they are, this mineral rich water will hit your carpet and could stain it permanently. If you must place a planter on the carpet make sure that you have a good drip pan under it and be careful not to over water it.

There are many dangers to your carpet in your home but if you take the time to notice them you can prevent damage and have a long lasting carpet. Good luck and remember to call your carpet cleaner at least once a year for a thorough carpet cleaning. <bio>Go to http://www.newhavencarpetcleaning.info for more information on carpet cleaning. </bio>

Be a bit of ignorant and they will be in. Molds and mildews take no time to make full use of your unawareness. If you do not take any action to repair the leak on the roof, molds and mildews will enter your house and spread around.

They will not only affect your health, but depreciate your home as well. They will infect various parts of your home and spread a musty odor making your home unhealthy and sick.

Though a lot of people suffer from molds and mildews and thousand of homes in the United States need mold cleaning, general people do not have much knowledge about molds and mildews. What is mold, how do they look like, how molds grow and breed, what kills mold and how to remove molds permanently from your home -- answers to many such questions are still unknown.

Homeowners with basic knowledge about molds and mildews can take suitable preventive measures. It is not very difficult to kill mold and block them permanently. Suitable precaution at right time is what that matters.

Leaky roof, water damage, excessive humidity and dampness are the causes that lead to mold contamination inside home. Human beings are allergic to mold spores. Invisible mold spores and hyphal parts float around; they enter inside human body while breathing and result in flu like symptoms.

Hay fever, runny or stuffy nose, irritation of throat, coughing, wheezing and sneezing, respiratory trouble, headache, fatigue and sickness are common problems people experience when exposed to mold.

Molds also damage your home. They leave ugly stains on the substrate they grow on. Toxic black mold produce toxins and make the home smell bad. Sick buildings are not worth living in. Thus, they add to the depreciation of your property.

Flood, water damage or a small leak on the roof -- molds will make full use of the scope and invade your home.

People often report that it is more difficult to stop molds from coming back than killing molds and mildews. With organic black mold cleaner you can remove mold and make your home mold free permanently.

There are homeowners who still use bleach and acid to remove molds. These chemicals initially remove mold, but they cannot block molds permanently. As soon as the reaction of chemicals is reduced, mold spores colonize again.

Moreover, chemicals and bleach have side effect. Bleach release nascent chlorine which is bad for health. Hence, people may fall ill during mold cleaning. Whereas, specially formulated cleaning products target the infected object and create a protective layer around. Airborne mold spores cannot contaminate the substance any more.

Hence, it is clear that you need to remove molds to save your home and your health. Before you start mold cleaning, you may consider conducting mold inspection and testing to identify the level and type of mold infection inside your home.

Basically molds are present everywhere, the thing that matters is spore count. When molds colonize inside your home, spore count increases and chances of inhaling mold spores and hyphal fragments increase many folds.

So perform mold inspection and testing first. Locate the exact point of contamination; find out if there is any hidden mold growth anywhere in the house and then start cleaning mold with best mold remover. Make sure the place is dry and well ventilated. You can also take professional help to make your home mold free.<bio>Black mold is very dangerous and can be deadly if proper action is not taken. Find out which mold and mildew remover kill molds safely and effectively. Use natural mold cleaning products to block them and get rid of black molds forever.</bio>

You need not to purchase the most expensive kinds of fish just to set up the best aquarium. This can be luxurious already. What you need to know is the proper way of maintaining your aquarium to make it pleasing to the eyes at all times.

Besides all other aquarium supplies, the fish is the most important. It cannot be called an aquarium without the species that will swim into it. This can come in varying types depending on the aquarium you put up.

Aquarium fish can be purchased in extraordinary color patterns. It comes in red, white, green, purple and even blue. In most cases, the male fish has brighter color and longer fins than the female fish. Typically, the more vibrant is the better because it can add appeal inside the aquarium.

There is a specific lifespan for the fish. However, it can be changed through your maintenance. There are times that fish has longer lifespan but due to your negligence, it can be shorten to months instead of years. This will just be a waste of money so better to take note of this factor.

Below are some reminders for proficient care of your aquarium fish:

1. Have regular check for the unnecessary things that may fall into the aquarium.

Cleanliness is very essential for your maintenance. This will not concern the pleasing appeal of the aquarium alone but most particularly the health of the species residing in the habitat. You can use filtration supply on this matter. Cleaning habit can be done weekly or you can do it gradually if you see some falling food remains at the top of the aquarium.

2. Beware from buying aggressive species.

Peaceful types of fish are more advisable because aggressive specie can affect the entire habitat. One can kill the other. Prevent this scenario to happen because you can probably end up with your aquarium to nothing.

3. Do not overfeed the aquarium fish.

Some fish are only required to be fed once a day although others are for twice. Overfeeding is not helpful nor will it make your fish grow larger instantly. Many cases have shown that it can cause death to your fish.

4. When changing the water, add product that will remove chlorine in the water.

Chlorine can be toxicant for your fish. You can purchase products from pet stores in order to eliminate the amount of chlorine in the water.

If you care for your fish, then better follow the advice that will cater your aquarium fish needs. <bio>This content is provided by Low Jeremy.
If you have wet walls, you'll surely get mold. Wallboard, drywall, plywood, paper and cardboard give mold a perfect place to grow. The material made in the construction of your walls is porous, so it offers the mold a great place to live.

Stachybotrys chartarum, an infamous type of toxic black mold that has a slightly greenish-black color, is often found in wet walls. Unlike your shower mold, which is non-toxic, this mold grows often in building materials.

If you have wet walls in your house, you should remove the material immediately and make sure the black mold doesn't come back.

Getting Rid Of The Moldy Walls

One huge mistake people often make is trying to paint over the water damaged spots on their walls. This won't do anything! In face, mold can grow really well on paint.

What you have to do is take off the wet portions of the wall. Remove all the wet wall as quickly as possible, before mold has a chance to grow. Before you take it off, spray it with water from a spray bottle. All the porous wall material should be wet when you remove it, so that you won't be spreading mold spores everywhere.

Wear protective clothes, make sure the area has plenty of circulation and dispose of the moldy wall material safely. Put all the moldy stuff in plastic bags for safe removal. It's important to not let the mold spores contaminate the rest of the house.

Look closely at the dry parts to see if there's mold hiding out behind it. You can just take off a small piece of the wall near the moldy area and check. In areas where the walls are wet, there is a good chance that the adjacent dry walls will also have mold growing.

After the wet walls have been removed, spray the walls with a bleach solution. Be careful with the bleach. Mixing it with any other cleaning products can cause toxic fumes. You should only use water in your bleach solution. Make it weak; no more than 1 part bleach to 1 part water. Bleach can irritate your nose, eyes and ears. For more info see http://www.toxicblackmoldhelp.org/removing/removing_Black_Mold_On_Shirts.ht= ml

Use a scrub brush for the wall and make sure you get rid of all the mold. If some of the muck runs down to the floor, clean it up with a vacuum.

If possible, dispose of everything that has been in contact with mold. This includes drop clothes, but also the clothes that you were wearing. If you don't want to get rid of your clothes, wash them well in hot water and bleach.

Keeping The Mold Out Of Your Walls

Before you install any new stuff, make sure the wall has dried out completely. You can run a dehumidifier in your basement or wherever the wet walls were to speed up the process. Just make sure it's totally dry before you begin construction again.

When building again, there are a few materials that will help keep mold away, depending on what you plan on putting there. A concrete backer board might be helpful to keep the wall dry. If you want to use tile, put up a 1/2 inch concrete backer board. If you want to put a surround, get a green board rock. You can find concrete backer board and green board rocks at your local home supply or hardware store.

The most important thing you can do to keep mold from growing again is to keep the room dry and well-ventilated. Remember that mold likes wet, dark places and grows well on porous material. After you've cleaned up and put in new walls, check from time to time to make sure the mold hasn't come back. <bio>You can also find more information at http://www.toxicblackmoldhelp.org/removing/getting_Rid_Of_That_Black_Mold.h= tml on toxic mold exposure and http://www.toxicblackmoldhelp.org/symptoms/toxic_Mold_Weight_Gain.html on stop black mold. </bio>
