Most times when your family doctor prescribes a new medication for you, you can get ready to read the long list of side effects the drug may cause to alleviate the symptoms of something else.

Common side effects that you'll read about, or even see on TV commercials these days for new drugs are cramps, nausea, and diarrhea. It's rare that we come across a form of prescribed medication that doesn't have some negative side effects.

How ever when we look to the world of natural supplements and herbs, there are less unfavorable side effects, and more times then not they can help combat side effects of other drugs.

Goji berry juice is one of these products that demonstrates a powerful ability to help heal other ailments and relieve particular side effects yet cause none of it's own. A great example of this is with chemotherapy and goji juice. It can actually help counter act the negative effects that chemotherapy has on the body.

Chemotherapy Produces a Low White Blood Cell Count

Chemotherapy reduces the bodies ability of our bone marrow to create new white blood cells. There fore keeping our white blood cell count very low, and ourselves in a very weakened condition. With such a low count we are very vulnerable to infections and other illnesses.

One key characteristic of drinking goji juice is that it help increase our white blood cell count. In turn by drinking goji juice you help strengthen your immune system and helping your body fight off any potential infections you may be faced with while undergoing treatment.

Chemotherapy Produces Low Energy Levels

Another nasty side effect to chemo is that it leaves the patient with extremely low energy levels. Again goji berry juice helps with energy levels. By adding a daily drink of goji juice to your diet, you can boost energy levels thanks to a key ingredient that is should to fight off fatigue known as lyceum. Chemotherapy Treatment Aided by Goji Juice

Most know that the reason for chemotherapy is to help fight cancer. The key ingredients in the goji berry are lyceum barbarum, these are very effective antioxidants. These antioxidants can actually help to prevent the growth of cancer cells in the liver, as well as leukemia.

Of course if you're currently receiving chemotherapy as treatment check with your doctor prior to trying goji juice to help reduce side effects. While there are no major known side effects to drinking goji berry juice, it's always important to consult a medical professional prior to making any sudden changes. <bio>For more information on the side effects of goji juice and how it can help combat illness in chemotherapy paitents visit our website at http://www.mangosteen-and-goji.com/goji-juice/goji-juice-side-effects/ </bio>

Chemotherapy, in its most general sense, refers to treatment of disease by chemicals that kill cells, specifically those of micro-organisms or cancer. Chemotherapy works by destroying cancer cells; unfortunately, it cannot tell the difference between a cancer cell and some healthy cells. Chemotherapy may be given in many ways. It can be administered through a vein, injected into a body cavity, or delivered orally in the form of a pill, depending on which drug is used. Chemotherapy is sometimes used along with other cancer treatments, such as radiation therapy, surgery, or biological therapy (the use of substances to boost the body's immune system while fighting cancer). Chemotherapy was formed from mustard gases, which was in use as chemical- arms during the 1st World-War. Chemotherapy for the treatment of cancer began in the 1940s with the use of nitrogen mustard.

When cancer treatment includes chemotherapy, patients have many questions. More than half of all people diagnosed with cancer receive chemotherapy. Chemo works by destroying cancer cells; unfortunately, it cannot tell the difference between a cancer cell and some healthy cells. So chemotherapy eliminates not only the fast-growing cancer cells but also other fast-growing cells in your body, including, hair and blood cells.

Your course of therapy will depend on the cancer type, the chemotherapy drugs used, the treatment goal and how your body responds. Adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy are often given following surgery for many types of cancer, including colon cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and some gynaecological cancers. Over time, cancer cells become more resistant to chemotherapy treatments.

Patients who are better prepared tend to have fewer side effects and a higher emotional ability to handle the chemotherapy treatments. Patients receiving chemotherapy are more likely to get infections. Under certain circumstances, your doctor may decide your body is too weak to receive chemotherapy. You may have breaks between treatments so that your body has a chance to build new healthy cells. The side effects of chemotherapy come about because cancer cells aren't the only rapidly dividing cells in your body. Radiation therapy directs high-energy X-rays at a person's body to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. Radiation therapy also attacks quickly growing cells in your body, but unlike chemotherapy, it affects only the specific area where treatment is concentrated. Biological therapy, also called immunotherapy, consists of treatment with substances that boost the body's own immune system against cancer.

Receiving chemo during childhood also may place some kids at risk for delayed growth and cognitive development, depending on the child's age, the type of drug used, the dosage, and whether chemotherapy was used in addition to radiation therapy. People who receive radiation therapy before having chemotherapy may notice that involved skin may turn red, blister, and peel once chemo begins. When a cancer has been removed by surgery or treated with radiation therapy, chemotherapy may be used to keep the cancer from coming back (adjuvant therapy). Given after surgery or radiation, the goal of adjuvant therapy is to eliminate any cancer cells that might linger in your body after earlier treatments. The combination of radiation and chemotherapy can further increase your risk of heart damage.

Chemotherapy is usually administered for approximately 6-12 months or until a patient achieves a plateau response or stable disease, especially if the therapy is well tolerated. Chemotherapy can be frightening to think about. Chemo may cause short term (acute), long term (chronic), and permanent side effects, some of which may be severe. Chemotherapy can have many unpleasant side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, hair loss, mouth sores, Anemia (decreased numbers of red blood cells; may cause fatigue, dizziness, and shortness of breath) Leukopenia (decreased numbers of white blood cells; may lower resistance to infection), Thrombocytopenia (decreased numbers of platelets; may lead to easy bleeding or bruising), gastrointestinal symptoms, and even heart disease.

There are other options to chemotherapy that are successful in treating cancer but perhaps more important, there are steps we can take to prevent cancer and to avoid the horrible effects of chemo and radiation.<bio>Joni Bell manages a blog at http://askjonibell.com that provides a forum for anyone to post a question about the prevention and/or treatment of cancer related diseases.</bio>

Chemotherapy is the use of chemical agents to treat or control diseases. It works by killing fast dividing cells like cancerous cells and other healthy cells which include hair follicles, bone marrow, reproductive system etc.

You would get anxious at the mention of chemotherapy for above reasons but there is not much cause for worry as healthy cells regenerate fast after the therapy is complete. Chemotherapy is either used exclusively or in combination with radiation or surgical therapies.

Advantages Unlike radiation, which kills cancer cells in the target area, chemotherapy is universal and treats the entire body. This attacks the untreated cancer cells from the previous cancer too. Doctors use chemotherapy depending on the spread and type of cancer to

Destroy cancer cells from the body, no withstanding its wide spread Prolong life expectancy by controlling cancer growth and spread Alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life

Chemotherapy Types and Methodology Chemotherapy is not always based on a single drug for the fear of developing resistance to the drug. On the other hand a combination has different actions at the cellular level and kills more cancer cells preventing further spread. Your doctor decides on the combination considering your age, tolerance limit, and health. Mind you, all such combinations are tested on patients with similar conditions.

A few representative types.

1.Alkylating agents, deter the replication of DNA, prevents cancer cell growth. 2.Antimetabolites, block the enzyme supply to cancer cells on which they thrive. 3.Anti-tumor antibiotics change cell membranes by blocking enzyme supply led cell division. These are not the general antibiotics. 4.Nitrosoureas obstruct the ways DNA is repaired by enzymes. 5.Mitotic inhibitors inhibit cell division by hindering enzymes essential in the cell reproduction.

Chemotherapy is administered cyclically considering the type of drugs and your condition. Chemotherapy drugs travel thru the entire body, so there are four ways devised for administration.

1.Intravenous method where drug is injected into your veins. 2.Oral chemotherapeutic pills to swallow. 3.Topical application (ointments) for skin cancers. 4.Intramuscular injection.

Side Effects On the lighter side there are side effects like vomiting, nausea, hair loss, dry mouth, constipation and loss of appetite etc. Beware, some problems like damages to heart, lungs and kidneys show much after the treatment. Urinating blood and nervous damage and attack of secondary cancers like lymphoma, leukemia is not ruled out. <bio>Alan Ross writes and contribute articles on many topics. He is a nice guy too.
Chemotherapy effects can be intense depending on the types of drugs being administered, the dose and the general vitality of the patient. Healthy cells that reproduce rapidly, like the cells in the bone marrow, stomach, mouth, hair and intestines, are very susceptible to the damage caused by chemotherapy. This is why so many of the side effects of chemotherapy impact these areas of the body.

Of course, no two people experience chemotherapy or its subsequent consequences the same way. This is partly because everyone is different, but also because each chemotherapy treatment is individual. One patient may receive more of a particular drug that induces nausea, while another is administered a drug that causes dramatic hair loss. The side effects may also change as treatment progresses.

Keep reading for a breakdown of some of the most common chemotherapy effects - but remember that just because they're common doesn't mean they will always occur.

Nausea and Vomiting

Nausea and vomiting are probably the two most common negative impacts of chemotherapy. Vomiting occurs when the drug stimulates a certain part of the brain called the chemoreceptor trigger zone - this then sends a message to the vomiting area of the brain. Fortunately, new drugs are being developed that limits the triggering of this response.

If nausea or vomiting are going to occur, it typically starts just a few hours after the treatment is completed and lasts for a short period.

Diarrhea or Loose Stools

Having loose or watery stools more than three times a day is diarrhea and a common result of chemotherapy. The drugs attack the frequently reproducing cells that line your intestines - therefore inhibiting their ability to do their job. Diarrhea is often intermittent, but if it continues for more than a few days, you should consult with your doctor immediately.

Sores in the Mouth

Because cells on the inside of the mouth are some of the fastest to regenerate in the body, they are the ones most susceptible to damage from chemotherapy. As a result, sores can develop, leading to possible infection and other problems. The esophagus is also vulnerable. A good defense is persistent oral hygiene.

Milk of magnesia can help to both soothe and dry out mouth soft sores. Doctors also recommend gargling with salt water and eating softer foods at or below room temperature. Avoid hot and spicy foods.

Hair Loss

Not every chemotherapy program causes the patient to lose their hair. Some drugs lead to hair loss, other's only cause a minimal amount and some don't result in it at all. Certain people lose only their head hair, and others lose hair from all over their bodies. Like every other symptom, the visible results depend on the patient, the drug and the dosage.

Though hair loss is often cited as the most obvious of the chemotherapy effects, it's also one of the most temporary. Typically, the hair will begin to grow back right after treatments end - often coming in thicker and curlier. Interestingly, after cancer treatment many people who experience hair loss and recovery express a preference for their new hair appearance upon regrowth.<bio>For helpful information on various cancers, please visit cancerinfotips.com, a popular site providing symptom and treatment insights, such as kidney cancer symptoms, immune system supplements, and many more!</bio>

Multiple Myeloma

In multiple myeloma, abnormal plasma cells (myeloma cells) build up in the bone marrow, forming tumors in many bones of the body. These tumors may prevent the bone marrow from making enough healthy blood cells. Normally, the bone marrow produces stem cells (immature cells) that develop into three types of mature blood cells:

1. Red blood cells that carry oxygen and other materials to all tissues of the body. 2. White blood cells that fight infection and disease. 3. Platelets that help prevent bleeding by causing blood clots to form.

As the number of myeloma cells increases, fewer red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets are made. The myeloma cells also damage and weaken the hard parts of the bones. Sometimes multiple myeloma does not cause any symptoms. The following symptoms may be caused by multiple myeloma or other conditions. A doctor should be consulted if any of the following problems occur:

1. Bone pain, often in the back or ribs. 2. Bones that break easily. 3. Fever for no known reason or frequent infections. 4. Easy bruising or bleeding. 5. Trouble breathing. 6. Weakness of the arms or legs. 7. Feeling very tired.

A tumor can damage the bone and cause hypercalcemia (a condition in which there is too much calcium in the blood). This can affect many organs in the body, including the kidneys, nerves, heart, muscles, and digestive tract, and cause serious health problems.

Other factors affecting prognosis

There are other factors that can affect your prognosis, apart from the stage of your cancer. One consideration is how well you are overall. Doctors call this your 'performance status'. You may see this written PS. A score of 0 means you are completely able to look after yourself. A score of 1 means you can do most things for yourself, but need some help. The scores continue to go up, depending on how much help you need. This is relevant to survival because overall, the fitter people are, the better able they are to withstand their cancer and treatment. This is particularly important in myeloma because fitter patients can withstand more intensive treatment.

What is chemotherapy?

Chemotherapy uses anti cancer or 'cytotoxic' drugs to destroy cancer cells. They work by disrupting the growth of cancer cells. As they circulate in the blood they can reach cancer cells wherever they are in your body.

Chemotherapy by mouth

Your doctor is more likely to suggest treatment with tablets if you are aged over 70 or are not fit enough to have a stem cell transplant. You will usually have the chemotherapy drugs melphalan or cyclophosphamide. Doctors often give a steroid drug called prednisolone with this chemotherapy. So you may see or hear it called MP or CP.

Occasionally doctors use chemotherapy tablets as initial treatment for people going on to have a stem cell transplant. They might use the chemotherapy drug idarubicin (Zavedos) with steroids. This combination is called Z-Dex. <bio>Chemotherapy uses anti cancer or 'cytotoxic' drugs to destroy cancer cells.
Cancer can be devastating. Even more devastating, though, can be cancer treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy, which are often more distressing than the cancer itself. Many are now turning to alternative cancer therapies, sometimes to supplement and sometimes to replace established forms of cancer treatment.

Be careful. The world of alternative cancer treatment is full of all types of quackery. In particular, care must be taken when alternative cancer treatment is to be used to replace established cancer treatment. Most experts, even those who favor some forms of alternative cancer treatment, recommend it as a supplement to, rather than as a replacement for, established forms of cancer treatment.

Following is a list of some of the more prevalent alternative treatments:

A Balanced Diet: A diet of fruits, vegetables and whole wheat can serve as an effective hedge against cancer because it increases both fiber and anti-oxidants, which are thought to be useful in slowing cancer's progress.

Green Tea: A Chinese favorite for on-medical reasons, and a popular alternative cancer treatment. Green tea is rich in flavinoids, which are anti-oxidents. Studies have indicated that anti-oxidants used in conjunction with chemotherapy may increases latter's effectiveness. In addition to this, green tea may slow the progress of cancer even without the use of chemotherapy.

Nitrilosides =96 Nitirilosides are group of natural substances found in many fruits such as tart black cherries, cranberries, and papayas, among others.

Herbs: Melatonin and St. John;s Wort are thought to be useful as a supplement to established cancer treatment (beware, though: St. John's Wort should not to be taken in conjunction with chemotherapy because it may interact with chemotherapy drugs).

Holistic Medicine: Hypnosis, yoga, acupuncture, hypnosis, and similar mind/body exercises are commonly used to fight cancer.

Be sure to keep your physician informed of the details of any alternative treatments that you plan to pursue. And keep away from any "alternative" treatment that promises a miracle cure or sudden, dramatic results. <bio>"Alternative Cancer Treatment" at http://alternativecancertreatmentguide.blogspot.com offers readers comprehensive information about various forms of alternative cancer tretment. The second way in which radiation therapy is used is as a prevention method - essentially to prevent the cancer from returning to different parts of the body after chemotherapy.

Chemotherapy Courses

Chemotherapy is the primary treatment used to address leukemia. There are three major stages of chemotherapy for leukemia patients and these are induction, consolidation and maintenance. Essentially, induction is the phase intended to kill the majority of cancer cells. Consolidation is designed to kill any remaining cells, and maintenance is a low dose phase designed to prevent recurrence of the leukemia.

Remission Induction Therapy

Patients who are diagnosed with AML (acute myelogenous leukemia) will typically undergo remission induction treatments which involve cytrabine and an anthracycline. Because remission induction is so intensive, it's often undergone on an in-patient basis.

Typically, a course of remission induction will only last between 5 and 7 days. However, because most of the body's healthy bone marrow cells have been destroyed over the course of the treatment, the patient must endure a lengthy hospital stay following treatment.

Patients diagnosed with ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) will typically undergo remission induction treatments which involve anthracycline, prednisone and vincristine. Generally, bone marrow damage is less significant, and ALL patients can expect shorter hospital stays.

Consolidation Chemotherapy

After the initial remission induction, the patient will undergo what is called consolidation therapy. This is designed to destroy any remaining cancer cells and therefore prevent a recurrence.

Maintenance Therapy

Patients with ALL might have to undergo ongoing maintenance therapy. Essentially, it is a course of oral medications that can typically be done on an out-patient basis.

Central Nervous System Prophylaxis

Some ALL patients may receive methotrexate, a drug used to treat leukemia, through a spinal tap. This is done to prevent ALL from recurring in either the spinal fluid or the brain.

Transplantation of Stem Cells

Stem cell transplantation is sometimes used in younger patients after remission induction, particularly if they have a poor prognosis. It's also part of standard treatments for leukemia patients under 50 who have seen their leukemia relapse.

Leukemia is a deadly disease requiring both aggressive and persistent treatment. Fortunately there are several options from which the medical profession attempt to counter it.<bio>For helpful information on various cancers, please visit cancerinfotips.com, a popular site providing symptom and treatment insights, such as treatments for Leukemia, Chemotherapy effects, and many more!</bio>

The terrible long wait is over and the bad news has been delivered-you have breast cancer. Now what, are you going to die? What happens next? There are literally dozens of questions and fears bouncing around in your head and you might be frozen with fear. Remember that you are not alone and that literally thousands of other women have already dealt with this terrible disease and survived to live many long and productive years.

The road to getting better is a long one that you must endure, but it is not one that you will travel alone. Your family, friends, and doctors will be there to help you and do not be afraid to reach out and ask for help. You are not weak or helpless, you are sick and people want to help but they just do not know how-so be ready to ask!

Work with your doctor to come up with the medical treatment that best fits your needs and that will help cure your type of breast cancer. Most breast cancers will be treated with surgery to remove the tumor and all, or part, of the breast tissue may be removed. Excluding the surgery, there are three primary treatments being used today as a breast cancer treatment and they include chemotherapy, hormone therapy and radiotherapy.

* Chemotherapy drugs are given intravenously or in tablet form.

Chemotherapy given intravenously usually requires the patient to be at the doctor's office for several hours as the medication is slowly administered. The treatment is on a schedule determined by the doctor and a rest period of a few weeks between sessions is usual. This allows your body to recover from any side effects of the treatment.

* Radiotherapy treats cancer by using high-energy rays to destroy the cancer cells, while doing as little harm as possible to the healthy cells.

Radiotherapy is often used after surgery but may occasionally be used before, or instead of surgery.

If part of the breast has been removed, radiotherapy is usually given to the remaining breast tissue, to reduce the risk of the cancer coming back in that area. After a mastectomy, radiotherapy to the chest wall may be given if your doctor thinks there is a risk that any cancer cells have been left behind.

* There are many different types of hormonal therapy and they work in different ways. They are often given after surgery and radiotherapy for breast cancer, to reduce the chance of the cancer coming back. Hormonal therapy is usually given after chemotherapy.

While your options may appear to be limited, they are not. There are dozens of variation of medications being used today to work with your body to help destroy the cencer cells. If one treatment is not working, another treatment may be used. Remember to be honest with your doctor about how you are feeling. Your doctor is the second most important person in helping you get better but they can not do their job if you do not talk to them.

Now, who is the most important person when it comes to getting better? You are! Take care of yourself, realize that you are sick, need help and support. If you hate asking for help, just remember that when you are better, the opportunity may come up that you can help someone else=97and that is what it is all about! <bio>For more information on breast cancer try visiting http://www.breastcanceranalysis.com - a website that specializes in providing breast cancer related information and resources including information on breast cancer treatment. </bio>

When you sit and ponder the hardships of our modern world, it's often difficult not to be saddened. There are just so many illnesses and diseases out there now days that make our health situation even worse and more complicated.

Mysterious fears such as cancer have plagued our world for decades now. However, we still don't know the absolute best or ideal way to deal with them. Although most people assume chemotherapy is the only way to deal with the big bad C there are alternative cancer treatments available. Now, whether or not you find an alternative cancer treatment effective is a different story. A great deal depends on the person and his/her condition.

Do you know of a successful alternative cancer treatment? I knew a guy back in Oregon, who claimed he used regular acupuncture treatments along with meditation and yoga to treat his cancer. This was something I had never heard of before. In fact, I couldn't help but wonder how effective it would truly be.

Regardless, he did appear to be doing well, and looked healthy to the naked eye. I had just always heard everyone talk about chemotherapy like it was the be-all end-all to cancer treatments. I must admit that it makes me recoil to think about the effect it has on ones body.

If you didn't already know, chemotherapy is a radiation treatment that is used to kill the cancer cells growth in the human body. Unfortunately it has to poison your body to achieve this task. Hence the hair falling out and the vomiting. It's a terrible process to watch first hand. This actually may be why certain individuals search for an alternative cancer treatment. Are you looking for some alternative cancer treatment to deal with your affliction? if to find a quality and effective alternative cancer treatment is your goal, then I would suggest research using the World Wide Web. I believe this will save a great deal of time and effort on your part.

If your personal doctor knows of no lawful alternative cancer treatment, then you must take matters into your own hands. Although this terrible disease continuously affects a number of human beings, sometimes leaving us hopeless, we certainly can't give up on finding the ideal cure. That choice alternative cancer treatment is out there. It's all about being stubborn and never quitting. <bio>John Wellington provides readers with up-to-date commentaries, articles, and reviews for http://www.healthcare-resource-guide.com, http://www.body-and-mind-magazine.com as well as other related information. </bio>

Apricot seeds are, like most nuts and seeds, very nutritious. Apricot seeds were used to treat tumors as early as AD 502. Apricot seeds are taken by many people as a cancer treatment as they contain high doses of Vitamin B17, an immune system enhancer. Apricot seeds are an essential source of cyanogenic glycosides and laetrile that is considered to be a sort of treatment or cancer.

Cancer

Cancer has now surpassed heart disease for the first time as the top killer of Americans under age 85. Cancer is now expected to strike 1 in 2 men and over 1 in 3 women around the world in their lifetimes. Cancer occurs only as a result of a direct deficiency of Laetrile and those so-called carcinogens really just contribute to cancer by placing further stress on the body that precipitates the Cancers that result from Laetrile deficiency. Cancer cells all have the exact same characteristics. Cancer, by definition, is a Chronic Metabolic disease and must be treated as such. Cancer is a systemic failure of the immune system and cellular communication. Cancer patients who have responded favorably to laetrile do not relapse when they are maintained on laetrile therapy.

Seeds

Many of the world's top scientists claim that when consumed, Apricot Seeds would make it 100% impossible to develop cancer. Special ingredients in Raw Apricot Seeds have been proven for decades to kill existing cancer cells in most cases. Fresh apricot seeds are a lovely, cinnamon colour. Blanched apricot seeds are not suitable as a nutritional supplement. If you're a regular user of apricot seeds, you know the difference. When apricot seeds are blanched they are boiled at high temperature, which results in a skinless, pale coloured kernel. Blanched apricot seeds therefore have little value as a nutritional supplement. Raw Apricot Seeds also contain vitamin B15, which get more oxygen to the tissue.

B17

B17 still continues to save his life every day. Apricot kernels are a source of vitamin B17. Dr Ernst Krebs was the first to identify vitamin B17 and to investigate its properties in 1952. Apricot seeds are taken by many people as a cancer treatment as they contain high doses of Vitamin B17, an immune system enhancer. Stores do not sell "raw" apricot seeds because of the raids the FDA made on those stores with vitamin B17 and the apricot seeds years ago. Finding the right provider to buy your Vitamin B17 is very important.

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy has never been shown to have curative effects for cancer. Chemotherapy does not eliminate breast, colon or lung cancers. Chemotherapy and radiation have long been known to damage the fertility of patients, but little is known about more targeted drugs such as Gleevec, known generically as imatinib. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy.

Apricot seeds are subject to seasonal availability. Apricot seeds have the highest content of B-17 on earth. Apricot seeds assist your body to cure cancer with protein digesting enzymes supplied by the pancreas. Apricot seeds are the spear and bulls-eye that I deal with and have seen thousands of people get better and live many times longer than they would have than if they went to chemo and/or radiation.<bio>Joni Bell has worked with Naturopaths for the development of an array of products for the purpose of a metabolic therapy program for basic and advanced cancer prevention. Apricot Seeds Work</bio>

Most people think that hair loss is a genetic condition. This is, perhaps, the most widely-accepted reason for losing hair. But the truth is, a parent's genes are just one of the many factors that could cause the loss of hair. There are many other factors that could attribute to hair loss:

1. Hormonal Imbalance

The level of hormones (especially in a woman's body) could play a great role on whether or not an individual would experience hair loss. Many women have noticed that hair loss ensues at about three months after giving birth. The level of hormones for pregnant women could be so high that the hairs that would normally fall out are retained. This, however, would result into a massive hair loss when the hormone levels decrease after giving birth.

2. Chemotherapy

Cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy have to use drugs that are specifically designed to attack both the good and bad cells. When this happens, all types of cells (including cells on hair follicles and roots) are subjected to the same level of attack as the deadly cancer cells. This results in hair loss on the patient's scalp and even on the underarm, leg, and pubic areas. Chemotherapy is so strong that even eyebrows and eyelashes would fall out.

Currently, there is no treatment for hair loss caused by chemotherapy. Most people believe that they could slow down the process of hair loss if they place an ice pack on the affected scalp. This might be able to help but most people also feel much discomfort while placing an ice pack on their scalp. Besides, too much cold applied to the scalp could result into cancer on that region.

It could take a month or more after the last chemotherapy session before the hair fall stops. This condition could range from rapid hair loss to gradual hair fall, and this is depending on the present condition of the patient.

3. Lack of Biotin

Biotin is an essential element for hair growth and strength. On the absence of this element, the body hairs weaken and gradually would fall off. The only way to cure hair loss on this condition would be to take biotin once more. Biotin could be taken as a food or dietary supplement.

If you would want to stock up on biotin, better start eating liver and egg yolks (two types of food that have high biotin content).

4. Infection

Having dandruff can be a cause of hair loss. When this condition is prolonged, the hair follicles and the scalp are weakened by the fungi that cause this condition. Also, there are certain fungal and bacterial infections that can cause hair loss. Infections such as these are common among children. The treatments include antifungal and anti-bacterial medicines.

5. Exposure to Heat and Excessive Hair Pulling

Styling can be fun but when the hair becomes stressed by such an activity, it's time to give it a rest. Hair blowers should not be constantly used as exposure to heat would cause the hair in the scalp to become brittle and eventually fall out. Conditioners and other moisturizers could be used to treat severely damaged hair and, to some degree, falling hair.<bio>For more information, kindly visit Hair Loss Treatment.
Hair loss can be a pretty devastating condition to most people. It does not only invoke ridicule but also un-acceptance and too many emotional scars. Imagine having to introduce these disturbing society norms to a child! There could be nothing more upsetting for a child than to know that he is different and the world would not let him fit in.

The conditions that normally trigger hair loss in children are Trichotillomania and alopecia due to being exposed to chemo radiation. Although children may have fewer problems when dealing with hair loss as compared to socially active adults, still, they are not resilient to stares and taunting.

There are some studies that have been made wherein children are encouraged to make their own choices and decisions when it comes to their hair loss. Parents have no right to impose what they want on their children such as forcing them to wear hats or coercing them to go out in public (even if the child does not want to).

Some children may be comfortable to go out in public even if they don't have a full head of hair. These children may not be perfectly okay with their condition but they just prefer to look natural and do nothing. Some children are more sensitive to curious stares so they choose to wear a hat, hair prosthetics (or wigs) and some even wear scarves. As for the wigs, there are now custom-made products that can be worn by children.

Hair Loss Caused by Chemotherapy

Children who have to undergo chemo radiation have to needlessly suffer from hair loss as well. The good thing about this is, after a month or two of the last chemotherapy session, the patient is bound to grow back his hair. The hair growth may be a little slower than normal hair growth yet the comforting fact is, this condition is not permanent.

Parents could emotionally support their child by asking him what he prefers to do with his hair. Also, the oncologist often has an idea on where to go for hair loss consultations.

Hair Loss Due to Trichotillomania

Sometimes, children are afflicted with a condition where they are not able to control hair pulling. Due to this uncontrollable action, a massive amount of hair is often lost. Trichotillomania was thought to be a rare condition in the past but recently, more and more physicians have diagnosed this condition (1% of the entire US population has it).

Patients suffering from this condition have to know that they are not alone. In fact, there are learning centers whose aim is to educate the TTM patients on what to do and how to be treated. TTM is much like nail biting or skin picking and is a serious condition if left untreated.

Hair loss caused by TTM cannot be treated with the use of the usual topical ointments or creams. It is best to deal with the psychological underlying factor so that the hair pulling would cease and hair loss be stopped. It is advisable for the patient to undergo psychotherapy and to take some anti-depressants.

Parents of such children should be emotionally supportive and patient. Whether the hair loss is caused by chemotherapy or TTM, the results could still be socially demoralizing.<bio>For more information, kindly visit Hair Loss Products.
Lung cancer is defined as a tumor on the lungs. That tumor is known as being malignant. Due to the rise in popularity of smoking, it also appears is as if lung cancer is on the rise. The good news is that many forms of lung cancer are treatable. However, like all other forms of cancer, lung cancer will spread. That is why it is important that it is diagnosed right away. When lung cancer is diagnosed in the early stages, it is easier to treat. With the right lung cancer treatment options, you may not only increase your life expectancy, but you may also end up cancer free.

Before you can begin to seek treatment for lung cancer, you will have to be diagnosed with it. This diagnosis will need to come from a healthcare professional. Although a healthcare professional is needed to diagnose lung cancer, there are lung cancer symptoms that you may be able to notice on your own. These symptoms typically include coughing, wheezing, loss of appreciate, weight loss, and shortness of breath. In the event that you display one or more of these symptoms, you are advised to contact your physician right away.

Once your physician has been altered to your display of lung cancer symptoms, they will likely order a number of different tests. These tests may include CAT scans, biopsies, and chest x-rays. If you are diagnosed with lung cancer, you and your physician will often work together to develop an effective lung cancer treatment plan. The chosen treatment plan will likely depend on which type of lung cancer you are diagnosed with, whether it be small cell or non-small cell lung cancer, and the stage which you are at. Although the type of lung cancer you are diagnosed with may have an impact on your lung cancer treatment options, there are common treatment options that have been successful in the past for virtually all types of lung cancer.

Surgery is the most common lung cancer treatment approach. Surgery, in most cases, will eliminate cancer, especially when it is in the early stages. For surgery to be an effective lung cancer treatment option, your cancer must not have spread throughout the rest of your body. Once the cancer has spread to your bones, brain, or other body organs, surgery may not be enough to cure it. At this stage, more of a focus is placed on life expectancy than a cure.

In addition to surgery, chemotherapy is also considered an effective lung cancer treatment option. Although chemotherapy can be used to cure cancer, it is often used when surgery is not an option. Certain lung cancers, such as cancer that is present in the lymph nodes, may be difficult or impossible to remove. In this case, chemotherapy is used as an alternative. In addition to attempting to cure lung cancer, chemotherapy is also used to prolong the life of an individual who has been diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread to other vital body parts and organs. These individuals are typically classified as having stage IV lung cancer.

In many cases, lung cancer treatment comprises of both surgery and chemotherapy. Both treatment options, when used together, may increase the chances of a cure. However, it is important that these treatment options be implemented as soon as possible. The importance of knowing the signs of lung cancer and your body cannot be emphasized enough. Whether you know for sure that your body displays the above mentioned lung cancer signs or not, you are advised to seek medical assistance immediately. The longer you wait, the more likely it is that your cancer will spread. It may even spread to the point where a cure is no longer possible.

As previously mentioned, those that smoke cigarettes are at an increased risk for lung cancer; however, lung cancer does not just happen to smokers. Secondhand smoke is another common cause of lung cancer. Unlike many other cancer types, lung cancer, in most cases, can be prevented. The next time that you light up a cigarette or choose to hang around someone else, who does, you are advised to think about the danger that you are putting your body and your life in. <bio>http://www.healthline.com/channel/lung-cancer.html can be a deadly disease but with proper check-ups you can in some cases detect any problems early and receive proper http://www.healthline.com/channel/lung-cancer.html </bio>

Multiple Myeloma Treatments

There are several blood tests that have significance for the likely development of your myeloma. Your specialist will talk you through these. One test is called serum B2. A low level of this means your myeloma is less active and so is likely to develop more slowly. Another test is called serum albumin -- a higher level for this is linked to a better outlook. There are many other tests, including chromosome tests.

It is a good sign if your myeloma responds well to treatment and goes into complete remission. This means that there is no clinical sign of your disease and no longer any abnormal immunoglobulin in your blood or urine. Remission can last for months or years, but unfortunately the myeloma is likely to come back eventually and need further treatment.

Treatment of Multiple Myeloma That Has Come Back!

Your doctor may call this relapsed myeloma. If your myeloma stays in remission for longer than 6 months after your treatment, your doctor may suggest that you have treatment with the same combination of drugs that you had before. But if it comes back sooner than that, the same treatment is less likely to help you a second time. Your doctor may suggest another treatment. This may be a different combination of chemotherapy drugs.

Plasmacytoma

In this type of plasma cell neoplasm, the abnormal plasma cells (myeloma cells) collect in one location and form a single tumor, called a plasmacytoma. A plasmacytoma may form in bone marrow or may be extramedullary (in soft tissues outside of the bone marrow). Plasmacytoma of the bone often becomes multiple myeloma. Extramedullary plasmacytomas commonly form in tissues of the throat and sinuses; these usually can be cured.

Treatment Goals for Multiple Myeloma

The goal of treatment is to relieve symptoms, since chemotherapy and even transplant rarely lead to permanent cure. Complete remission is unusual.

Chemotherapy and localized radiation therapy for relief of bone pain or treating a bone tumor may be useful. Bone marrow transplantation in younger patients has been shown to increase disease-free and overall survival, but it has significant risks.

Several promising new treatments including thalidomide, proteosome inhibitors, and arsenic trioxide are currently being investigated in clinical trials. Discuss participation with your doctor. <bio>Several promising new treatments including thalidomide, proteosome inhibitors, and arsenic trioxide are currently being investigated in clinical trials.
There are many types of cancer that people may suffer from but one thing that stays similar is the types of medication that they may be using. There are many forms of medication that you may be prescribed with various types of side effect to go with each. Your doctor will go over your particular case with you and determine which type of treatment is the best.

Your treatment may consist of such treatments as Chemotherapy, Hormone therapy, Biological therapy, Alternative and complimentary therapy and of course drug treatment. Chemotherapy uses anti-cancer drugs which are done intravenously, by mouth, Injectable and topical applications. They stop the growth of cancer cells as they destroy the cells. This type of treatment is usually done in cycles. They will usually alternate treatments with rest periods to allow the person to recuperate.

Some of the anti-cancer medications that your doctor may use may include such medications as: Hexalen, Elspar, Blenoxane, Xeloda, Idamycin and Doxil just to name a few. Most cancer medications come with a hefty list of side effects. Unfortunately the necessity of the medication makes it almost impossible to avoid side effects. If you suffer from severe side effects your doctor will most likely prescribe another medication to counter act the side effects.

Some of the side effects that you may or may not experience with cancer medications might be: Feeling very tired and weak, more susceptible to infections and they can bleed and bruise easily. Keep in mind that you can use other drugs to counteract the side effects and that makes it much easier for you to undergo the necessary cancer treatment.

Radiation therapy is the form of treatment where they use ionizing radiation. This type of treatment kills off the cell in the area that is being treated. This makes it impossible for the cells to grow back. Often times the area of cancer will be surgically removed and then the radiation and chemotherapy will start. If you choose to do the hormone therapy, this is where you will be given hormones to change the way your cells grow in your body.

Biological therapy is also known as Immunotherapy as it helps you make use of your immune system to help with your side effects from other medications as well as fighting off the cancer cells.

No matter which form of cancer you suffer from, be sure to keep a good line of communication open with your doctor. Educate yourself on all of your medications and be sure to know what side effects that you may or may not experience. Before starting any type of new treatment, be sure to discuss all of your options with your oncologist. He or she will be more than happy to go over your treatment plan in detail so you can be well informed on what to expect. If you find a medication that you are interested in then bring this up with your doctor as well so that he or she can consider it as a possibility or let you know why it is not a good choice. <bio>M Nelson provides a research tool for cancer patients; http://mesotheliomaplus.com, with an emphasis on Mesothelioma cancer.
Although it is rare for breast cancer to strike younger women, the fact remains that all women are at risk. And for those of childbearing age, the first sign and symptoms of breast cancer leading to a diagnosis can not only be upsetting and unexpected, but complicated as well.

Developing breast cancer at a younger age--in a woman's 40s, 30s, even 20s--will mean making important and difficult decisions about one's life and future perhaps much sooner than originally expected.

One concern is developing breast cancer during pregnancy, which although rare, can still occur. In this case, the treatment chosen will not only affect the patient and her body, but the growing baby inside her as well. It will depend on what stage of pregnancy she is in (first, second or third trimester) and what stage her cancer is in--such as whether or not it's advanced.

Most pregnant women can have treatment for their breast cancer without affecting the baby. But some might be advised by their obstetrician or health-care practitioner--or even decide themselves--to terminate the pregnancy, more so if the pregnancy is in its earlier stages, in order to receive certain treatments that would be too risky otherwise. But it is essential to remember that it is a woman's own decision--it is not medically necessary to terminate a pregnancy if the expectant mother is diagnosed with breast cancer. All it does is limit treatment options. Breast cancer itself will not affect the fetus--only certain tests and treatments will.

Generally speaking, tamoxifen, chemotherapy, radiation, and other drug-related therapies are avoided if the woman is pregnant because of their associated risks with birth defects. Tamoxifen, especially, is considered very unsafe because it is a hormonal therapy and is never recommended if the woman is pregnant or planning on conceiving.

Surgery--either a lumpectomy or mastectomy--is the most common and preferred method of treatment for breast cancer in pregnant women.

Another concern is whether or not breast cancer survivors can or should go on to have children after treatment and recovery. It's a very controversial issue with firm advocates on both sides of the debate.

There are two main questions here, for both the medical and health community and breast cancer survivors wanting their own children: 1) Do certain breast cancer treatments affect fertility?; and 2) Is it actually considered safe to conceive and carry a baby to term following breast cancer and breast cancer treatments?

As far as fertility goes, there is no definite answer here. For chemotherapy, it depends on the age and what specific drug was used--some affect fertility more than others. And taking tamoxifen after chemotherapy to prevent recurrence is not recommended if the woman desires to become pregnant right away. Although tamoxifen is sometimes used as a fertility treatment, there is evidence to suggest that it damages developing embryos, and therefore is not considered safe to use.

Many doctors caution these women to wait several years to ensure receiving the best breast cancer treatment possible and to go past the point of the biggest threat of breast cancer recurrence. But some women decide to go ahead and have babies anyway, since it's so important to them. <bio>Make sure you're protected from the risks and symptoms of breast cancer by visiting http://8008135.info - The information resource for breast cancer </bio>

Melanoma is a cancer of the skin that is malignant and can be found prominently on the skin but can also be found in the bowel and even the eye. Melanoma is the rarest of skin cancers but it causes the most skin cancer related deaths. Melanoma is caused by the uncontrolled growth of pigment cells known as melanocytes. The only cure for melanoma is to surgically remove the tumor before it grows to a size of 1mm. There are close to 160,000 new cases of melanoma worldwide each and every year and according to the World Health Organization there are approximately 48,000 deaths related to melanoma each year as well. 75 percent of all deaths from skin cancer are associated to malignant melanoma. Treatment for melanoma includes the aforementioned surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and even radiation therapy. It is recommended by doctors that anyone who has a family history of melanoma should see a dermatologist at least once a year to make sure they are not developing melanoma themselves.

The first case of melanoma did not come until the 1960s; at least the oldest known case was discovered until the 1960s. Scientists were working on a group of mummies when they noticed deformities in their skin. It was determined that these mummies did have some type of malignant melanoma. The mummies dated back at least 2,400 years. The first operation related to melanoma occurred in 1787 by a man named John Hunter. The tumor that was removed from the skin was preserved in the Hunterian Museum of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. The mass was not examined until the year of 1968. Upon examination and testing it was concluded that the mass was in fact a form of metastatic melanoma.

There is a mnemonic device to best remember the signs and symptoms of melanoma. It is "ABCDE."

A: asymmetrical skin lesion

B: border of the lesion is irregular

C: color: melanomas usually have multiple colors

D: diameter: moles greater than 5mm are more likely to be melanomas than smaller ones

E: evolution: the evolution or change of a mole or lesion may be a hint that the lesion is becoming malignant. Elevation: the mole is raised or elevated above the skin.

There are seven types of melanoma. They are superficial spreading melanoma, nodular melanoma, acral lentiginous melanoma, lentigo maligna melanoma, clear cell sarcoma, mucosal melanoma and uveal melanoma. As with all types of cancers, especially malignant ones, there are four stages of the disease that melanoma can be active in. The stages are Stage I, Stage II, Stage III and Stage IV. Each different stage has sublevels that the melanoma can develop in.

Patients suffering from melanoma can feel a loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, an uncomfortable feeling and a general weakness throughout the body. Melanoma, like all other cancers, cannot be completely cured but it can be kept under control with radiation, chemotherapy and immunotherapy. As with all chemotherapy treatments a feeling of fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, bowel problems and weight loss can occur.<bio>Alcohol Recovery Recover From Addiction</bio>

Most docs would never accept this barbaric cancer treatment.

Why should you?

This year, an estimated 1.4 million Americans will receive the most frightening diagnosis in medicine -- cancer. Most will spend months or years receiving deadly chemotherapy drugs that wither away their bodies, leave them depressed, and shred their immune systems.

And these patients may never realize that they are part of one of the greatest cons in the history of modern medicine.

Outrageous? No way. 73% of doctors surveyed said they would NEVER accept chemotherapy for themselves. And why should they, when there are safer and more effective cancer treatments available. Sure, chemotherapy is great if you want nausea, hair loss and depression...and no guarantee you'll live.

There can be easier, safer and more natural ways to survive. One nightmarish day, you're told you have the "Big C." As if that's not bad enough, next the "specialists" start throwing around words like "chemo" and "radiation," and your head really begins to swim. And then they start to sharpen their scalpels...

They call this science...medicine? It's absurd. Because so many truly effective tests and therapies are absolutely safe, cheap and simple. You'll be shocked by how many powerful alternatives you have----and can easily afford.

Sure, conventional medicine wants you to believe that surgery, radiation and chemotherapy are your only weapons against cancer. Maybe it's because the average cancer patient represents a $500,000 payday for the cancer treatment system. They're making money while destroying your health.

Did you know that 75% of the average oncologist's "take home pay" is profit from the chemo drugs he gives to his patients. Your oncologist is just doing his job, working with information that's been approved by our fabulously corrupt Food and Drug Administration and his overlords at the American Medical Association. Cancer therapies are built on myths and lies. The hypocrisy is amazing.

Before you submit yourself to toxic tests and "therapies" that so often just increase your pain and suffering, doesn't it make sense to know all of your options?

Recently, when one of the world's largest cancer centers surveyed oncologists about how they would treat their own cancers, almost 90% said they would refuse chemotherapy. They said that chemotherapy drugs were ineffective and have an unacceptable degree of toxicity.

The pathetic fact is that by shrinking tumors, chemotherapy encourages stronger cancer cells to grow and multiply, becoming chemo-resistant. Then there are the new cancers caused by chemotherapy, or secondary cancers. Somehow they forget to mention this life-threatening detail on the list of "side effects" in a drug's accompanying literature.

You're not a number, you're a human being. The powers that be-the puffed-up politicos, greedy mega-corporations and profit-obsessed pharmaceutical companies won't have you believe it for a second. They want you to be like a dog on a leash. The minute the dog starts to think for themselves and do some exploring, the leash gets jerked back. Pretty soon, the dog stops exploring, content to go where his leader lets him.

The truth is, good health is a matter of common sense and having a healthy dose of cynicism about what the "authorities" have to say about what's good for you--and what's not.

For instance, Starting tomorrow, drink no tap water. Not because of industrial pollution, but because of chemicals that "health authorities" are adding to your water. For example...

People who warned against FLUORIDATION used to be ridiculed, but guess what? In Scandinavia, in fact all of Europe, and nearly every other medically advanced nation, they have now banned the practice.

Know why? Because fluoride makes your body absorb extra aluminum. And where does the aluminum go? Your brain. And what metal shows up alarmingly in the brains of Alzheimer's victims? You guessed it. (Hmm...Maybe our health authorities have been drinking too much water?)

Here's another one, recently, Merck and Co. withdrew Vioxx, its COX-2 arthritis drug, from the market after a study found it doubled the risk of heart attack and stroke. Since then, the company has put out at least four press releases defending the safety of other COX-2 inhibitors.

In case you're curious, it wasn't caring doctors who wrote these press releases. No, you are being encouraged to continue taking a dangerous drug by marketers-professionals who are paid to "spin" any story, however controversial, so it comes out smelling like roses. This is science-by-press-release-and it stinks like yesterday's tuna!

It's interesting to note that Pfizer's Bextra is now recognized as a dangerous drug and Merck's Vioxx is off the market for the same reason, but Pfizer's other COX-2 drug, Celebrex is still being sold to trusting patients all over the world.

It truly boggles the mind. Here we are, supposedly the healthiest, wealthiest nation on the planet, and many state health departments continue to churn out a daily flood of lies, half-truths and old wives tales designed to scare us into submission.

There is some good information out there, and there is some garbage.
Prostate cancer is a disease that develops in the male reproductive system; specifically in the gland called the prostate. How does prostate cancer develop? Prostate cancer occurs when the cells of the gland mutate and begin to multiply out of control. They can spread to other parts of the body including the lymph nodes and the bones. Most sufferers of prostate cancer have difficulty when they urinate, develop erectile dysfunction among other symptoms. One of the major side effects of the disease is a discomfort in the area or severe pain in the groin.

Prostate cancer is most common amongst men in the United States and is least common in South and East Asia. The disease occurs most frequently in men over the age of 50. It is the second leading cancer killer among United States men aside from lung cancer. Two factors that cause prostate cancer are genetics and a person's diet. The most common way to discover prostate cancer is by a screening and not usually by physical detection. Just like lung cancer, prostate cancer is confirmed with a biopsy and then examining that biopsy with a microscope. CT scans and bone scans are used to see if the cancer has spread to any other areas of the body.

Some treatments for prostate cancer are surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, proton therapy, and hormonal therapy.

What is the prostate? The prostate is a gland that makes and stores seminal fluid. It is located in the pelvis area under the urinary bladder. When prostate cancer develops men suffer from urination and ejaculation problems. It is difficult to pinpoint prostate cancer in the early stages because there are practically no symptoms. Most cases are discovered via tests during a routine checkup. If prostate cancer does cause symptoms, which is rare, they are frequent urination, increased urination at night, difficulty maintaining a steady stream of urine, blood in the urine and painful urination.

Some protective measures against prostate cancer are a healthy diet that includes a high volume of Vitamin D, vitamin E, lycopene and soy foods. Some studies suggest that drinking a large amount of Green Tea will also help prevent prostate cancer because of the polyphenol in its ingredients. The National Cancer Institute advises men not to take more than the suggested level of multivitamins in the span of a week because this could increase the risk of contracting the disease.

Doctors recommend that men over the age of 50 begin to get screened for prostate cancer at their yearly checkups. Most men who die when suffering from prostate cancer usually don't die from the cancer itself. The disease takes so long to progress that the man usually dies from other health related issues such as heart disease, pneumonia, or old age.

Prostate cancer can be treated with watchful waiting, surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and cryosurgery. Determining which treatment method to use depends on which stage the cancer is in. Hormonal therapy and chemotherapy are usually used for treatment when the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.<bio>Alcohol Addiction News Drug Addiction News</bio>

For people who have already suffered through cancer, it can be devastating to learn that their cancer has returned. After going through all kinds of cancer treatments--including the often-upsetting chemotherapy--to have a doctor tell you that your cancer has come back is like a slap in the face. So if there is some way to get some kind of guarantee that the cancer won't return--any way at all--cancer sufferers would likely quickly grab it.

Well, there are no guarantees in life--we all know that. There is no way to guarantee that your cancer will stay away after you have gone through chemotherapy or any other forms of treatment. Actually, cancer is in all of us just ready to break out. Thankfully we have an immune system. There is, however, a way that you can try to prevent the cancer from returning--a way that you can proactively work to keep the cancer out of your body. You can follow a B17 treatment program.

Taking vitamin B17 along with eating apricot seeds can boost your immune system. Getting started with a B17 treatment program can keep your body from becoming deficient in B17--and, vitamin B17 deficiency has been proven to be the cause of cancer. Haven't heard that before? It's true. Being deficient in vitamin B17 is what causes cancer to be able to run rampant in your body, much like the way that a deficiency in vitamin C can cause the disease called scurvy. It hasn't been well-publicized because the drug companies cannot make money off of cancer prevention--they can only make money off of cancer treatments and cancer drugs.

In any case, keeping your body sufficient in vitamin B17 will help to keep the cancer at bay. How? This vitamin has a special substance called amygdaline in it. Amygdalin contains cyanide--but, the cyanide is locked away tight. Only cancer cells have the key to the cyanide. When the amygdaline comes into contact with a cancer cell, the cyanide is unlocked and it destroys the cancer cell. (A neutralizing enzyme is also released to protect the healthy nearby cells from the cyanide.)
So, starting a B17 treatment program will mean that your recent chemotherapy was your last--the cancer will not return.

Yes, that's right--vitamin B-17 is a natural product, as its source is just a regular, everyday, common fruit. Apricot seeds are what make up vitamin B-17, that's it. This vitamin is a purified form of the substance that is found inside apricot seeds. This substance is called amygdalin, and it is what is used to create vitamin B-17.

That makes taking vitamin B-17 to prevent cancer completely natural. When you take these vitamin tablets--available in either 100mg or 500mg strength pills, which can be split to smaller sizes--you can be confident in knowing that you are taking a natural product. Apricot Seeds? Really?

It may seem rather strange, but this is, indeed, where vitamin B17 comes from. There's good reasoning behind this, too--it wasn't done arbitrarily by some vitamin manufacturer. Apricot seeds contain amygdalin. Amygdalin has cyanide locked away, ready to battle cancer--and this cyanide can only be unlocked by a cancer cell because only those cells have the special unlocking enzyme. Once unlocked, the cyanide kills the cancer cell.

Nearby cells aren't harmed because a neutralizing agent is released with the cyanide to protect those cells. Once this was discovered, a biochemist studied the substance and learned how to purify it. Then, in 1952, amygdalin was given its vitamin status based (at least partly) upon recommendation from the co-founder of the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Today, the NCI doesn't readily acknowledge the benefits of vitamin B17, though. Perhaps one day they will and lets hope it's sooner than later.<bio>Jonathan Bell has more on this subject.
