If you have a carpet you know that you will get spots on it. No ifs ands or buts, you will get spots. Read this article for some tips on spot cleaning your carpet when the worst does happen.

The first step in spot cleaning is to scrape away as much of the solid material as possible. Use a dull instrument such as a spoon to gently remove solid material. Never use anything sharp like a knife. The next step is to blot up as much of the spot with a clean white towel or dye free paper towel. Dab, do not rub as that could damage the carpet. Next you will get your spot cleaner out. Before you use any spot cleaner for the first time be sure to test it on a hidden area of your carpet such as a closet. Spray the spot cleaner on a rag and then dab the spot until the stain is removed. You want to dab to avoid damaging the carpet and you want to spray the rag not the carpet to avoid spreading the stain. Work from the outside in until all of the stain is removed. Be careful not to get the area to wet since this can lead to the stain wicking back and returning later. Finally you will let the area dry well before putting it back to use. If possible place a fan on the spot to speed dry it.

That is it, Your carpet is now beautiful again. Regular spot cleaning like this can help you maintain your carpet so that you get the most enjoyment out of it and so it lasts for years. If you can not get a spot out with a general spotter you should call a cleaning professional in instead of trying other chemicals. You do not want to make it worse by playing chemist. <bio>Visit http://www.thecarpetcleanerlist.com/nashville.htm for tips on carpet cleaning and care. </bio>

Kids and carpet are very often at odds with one another. Kids seem to want to do everything they can to destroy your homes carpet. If you have kids you should read this article for some things to look out for and some ways to prevent damage to your carpet from children.

There are many different ways that kids can harm your carpet. One big one is by drawing on it with markers. This can cause some permanent damage even if they use the so called washable markers. To prevent damage from markers try to only let your children use them in rooms with hard surfaces. If they do get some marker on the carpet do not touch it. Instead call a professional cleaner in to handle the job. If you work on it yourself you might set the markers leaving a permanent stain. Another thing that kids do to carpet is spill drinks on it. It seems that just about every kids drink is brightly colored so that it will easily stain the carpet. Even sippy cups can leak a small amount of liquid and leave drip marks. To prevent this damage only let your children drink in wet areas like the kitchen. If they do spill something on the carpet try to soak it up as soon as possible and then spot clean it right away. Try water first and if that does not work move on to a general spotter. If you can not get the stain out do not play chemist and try anything else. Instead call in a professional. The last way that kids can damage carpet that I will talk about is by dropping play dough on the carpet. They will undoubtedly step on the play dough as soon as it is on the ground grinding it into the carpet. This is one of those stains that is also best left to the professionals. You will only get your self in trouble by trying to remove play sough.

I hope this article will help you keep your carpet in good shape. Unfortunately almost everything that your kid plays with can damage a carpet and the only solution is to keep these things away with your carpet. This is an almost impossible task so hopefully you have your carpet cleaners number on speed dial. you might need it. Good luck. <bio>Go to http://www.thecarpetcleanerlist.com/coloradosprings.htm for information on carpet cleaning in Colorado. </bio>

Did you know that quite a few of the common household cleaning agents you would normally reach for to clean a carpet stain will actually damage your carpet forever?

Did you know that clear liquid detergents are better for carpet stain removing than opaque ones?

How about this: When blotting to clean a carpet stain, should you work outward or inward?

Check out the tips for cleaning carpet stains below. You'll be surprised how enlightening they are, and how much sense they make.

TIPS FOR CLEANING CARPET STAINS:

1) Keep the right carpet stain cleaning supplies handy in a place all their own. Collect the following items:

A clear, see-through liquid detergent (non-transparent liquid detergents can leave a residue that attracts yet more dirt).

At least one spot remover that cuts grease, such as Energine.

Ammonia, mixed one tablespoon to one cup of water (not to be used on wool).

Non-oily polish remover.

One part white vinegar mixed with one part water.

Club soda.

White paper towels or cloths.

2) The correct way to clean carpet stains is to first collect as much of the offending spill as possible, then blot inward (blotting outward can make the stain bigger). After that, use one of the items you have gathered together specifically for cleaning carpet stains. A lot of other common cleaning products contain chemicals that can damage the rug. Rinse well with the least amount of water necessary, and then pack the stained area with white paper towels or white cloths. Weigh the area down and leave it for 24 hours.

3) You can help extend the life of your carpets by using the following preventative tips:

Use a good carpet pad. Put "walk-off matting" at all entryways, and keep them clean. Set up a system for cleaning carpets of dirt and stains regularly, and stick to it!

And remember, when it comes to cleaning carpet stains, it's like being a paramedic... the carpet you save may be your own! <bio>Jodie Phillips is a successful Webmaster and publisher of http://effective-carpet-cleaning.com/ and she provides more carpet cleaning facts, tips and advice on her website, where you can research in the comfort of your own home. </bio>

Fall is approaching fast and with this time of year comes cookouts, dinner parties and holiday parties. As you get your home in order and ready for these events, one thing to remember is that your carpets need to be cleaned. You want to put your best foot forward and cleaning your carpets is one way of doing that.

Depending on the severity of the stains in your carpet you may be able to get away with a simple canned rug cleaner or you may end up having to rent a professional rug cleaner. If you have only a few simple spots that you'd like to treat then getting a can of stain remover followed up my a can of rug cleaner is the way to go. Both will work in unison together and will typically get the stains right out. If you have those deep down, set in stains then you'll want to invest in renting a professional rug cleaner. This method will allow you take hot water and a bottle of rug cleaner and gently work the stains out of the carpet. By applying the hot solution to the stain then sucking it back up, those deep down stains tend to come up quickly. If not don't panic, just repeat the process a few times and that normally does the trick.

The best step to cleaning your carpet is to prevent the stains from day one. Several of today's carpets come already treated with Scotch Guard. However there are other stain protectors that can do the same thing. Often times something is spilt on the carpet and we think we got it up. However, when we come back the stain is still there. This is from the stain being partially removed but the remaining spill which has settled at the base of the carpet still remains. To prevent this from happening, simply place a cloth over the stain and set a heavy object on top of that and leave it overnight. This will allow the pressure to help soak up any excess moisture. Often after doing so you won't need a rug cleaner but just a simple spot treater.

Never attempt to use a heat source such as a dryer to dry the stain. Doing so will only set the stain in and make it harder and sometimes impossible to remove later with a rug cleaner. Should you have mold or mildew stains on your carpet try using a non-chlorine bleach to help treat these areas. This along with a professional steam rug cleaner should help remove the mildew.

Of course the key is to treat a stain immediately after it happens. If you do this right away then water usually takes car of the spill. Be sure to read the instructions on the product you use. Follow the manufacturer's directions carefully to avoid any further damage to your carpet. Stains don't have to be the end all to your get togethers. A few prevention methods as well as knowing how to treat those little accidents will make your life easier down the road.<bio>Don't let carpet stains tie you down. With the right rug cleaner, you can remove those little nuisances.</bio>

Nearly everyone has carpet in their homes and can use a few good tips for the care and cleaning of carpet.

No one like avoiding inviting friends and family over to your home because the carpet has odors or embarrassing carpet stains. Maybe it is because your pets or children track dirt and mud through the home after being outside. Maybe it is because of drink spills on the carpet.

Whatever the reason, you can put an end to dirty, smelly carpet if you choose to with the following tips on keeping your carpet stain and odor free.

The first thing you need to do is routine maintenance to prolong the life of your carpet. Make sure to vacuum regularly because dirt, grime and even pet hair can accumulate within the fibers of the carpet to cause a dirty appearance and in some cases problems for those with allergies. If you leave the dirt to build up it can cause damage to the carpet and make it more difficult to clean when you do it.

Make sure to clean up any spills immediately before the stain sets in or odors spring up. If the spill is of a solid consistency you may use paper towels to remove as much as possible prior to addressing any stain in the carpet. Do not rub the stain but lift it straight off the carpet to keep the staining to a minimum. After the mess is removed you can begin to clean the spot with a paper towel and plain water. At first use a blotting motion in the area followed by a clockwise motion and then a counter clockwise motion to remove any stains. You do not want to scrub at the carpet because that can damage the carpet fibers.

Lastly you should use as mild a cleaner as possible for the stain. If water does not remove it add just a touch of detergent and this should remove most stains that you encounter. If this technique does not take the stain out there is another article with additional stain removal tips mentioned later in the article. You should know that some chemicals may damage carpets so best is to use chemicals that are designed for use on carpet and even then use them sparingly.

Whenever working on stains you should make sure to used gloves to protect your skin and test in a small less noticeable area to make sure the carpet does not discolor. Use circular motions and smaller amounts of liquid, there is no need to saturate the area. When finished rinse with clean water and blot dry with clean white towels to remove as much liquid as possible.

If you can take the time to clean up stains and spills immediately, it will help to prevent odors and persistent stains that can cause embarrassment when trying to get together with friends and family.

Cleaning up spills to prevent stains and odors may not be fun, but it is necessary when you want to keep your carpet looking and smelling its best.
Here's a great selection of carpet cleaning tips straight from the notebooks of professional carpet cleaners:

Carpet Cleaning Tip #1: Devise a Plan

It's a good idea to put your expensive carpeting on a cleaning schedule. Just as vacuuming alone won't keep your carpet clean, using only the most convenient carpet cleaning processes won't either. The best plan is a regular program of daily vacuuming, weekly dry absorbent powder cleaner, and a fairly frequent heavy-duty professional carpet cleaning to remove the deepest dirt and residue.

Carpet Cleaning Tip #2: Getting Out Stains

In general, blot--don't rub--as much of the spillage up as possible, removing any solids and blotting inward toward the center of the stain. Choose one of the following cleaners to work on the stain: a clear liquid detergent (the non-transparent liquid detergents can leave extra residue), a grease and oil-cutting spot remover such as Energine, a solution of one tablespoon of ammonia to one cup of water (not for wool fibers), non-oily polish remover, club soda, or a solution of one part white vinegar to one part water. After you've removed the stain, rinse out the stain remover, using as little water as possible, then pack the area with white cloths or white paper towels, weigh it down with something heavy and leave it for 24 hours to dry completely.

Carpet Cleaning Tip #3: Hand Washing

There are times, especially when the carpet isn't too soiled, when you might choose to hand-wash it. The proper way to hand-wash a carpet is to vacuum it twice first, then scrub professional carpet cleaner into the carpet using a brush, vacuuming thoroughly afterwards to remove all residue.

To extend the life of your carpeting, put mats at all entryways to capture as much soil as possible. Always use a good-quality carpet pad under your carpeting. Periodically move the furniture. Your carpet will thank you, and you'll enjoy it more! <bio>Jodie Phillips is a successful Webmaster and publisher of http://effective-carpet-cleaning.com/ and she provides more carpet cleaning facts, tips and advice on her website, where you can research in the comfort of your own home. </bio>

The dreadful stain in the carpet, how do you get it out? This question has been asked by many homeowners. When owning a carpet you need to be careful with materials and substances that can stain your carpet. It is very frustrating to have new carpet installed only to find a glaring stain in just a month's time despite your best attempts to avoid that scenario.

Carpet stains are unsightly and degrade the overall quality of any carpet. These stains seem to appear out of thin air, of course when you ask who made the stain no will admit to it. Some of the most common, and yet intimidating, carpet stains include soda, coffee, blood, dirt, food and ink. You don't want to see your investment get ruined by dirt, soil and stains that can wear your carpet down and make it look much older than it really is. Many stains can be prevented if you act quickly. If you own or rent every home needs a broom or a vacuum keep the carpets clean on a daily basis, but those hard to get out stains you will see people renting or purchasing steam carpet cleaners.

Carpet steam cleaners use a variety of different carpet cleaning equipment. There are many different ways to clean the carpet, using steam, hot water, shampooing usually are the best choice for the Teflon fiber or the main made type of fibers.

When you are looking for a carpet cleaning machine, commercial carpet cleaning equipment, carpet steam cleaning or whatever you of course you want to make sure the equipment does the best job possible for the customer. Most home carpet cleaners use one of two methods: they either use hot water from the tap, along with soap, to clean fibers, or they use steam generated by the machine itself.

One of the newest cleaning solutions on the market is dry powder carpet cleaning method. That is like pre soaking your clothes in laundry detergent and then taking them out to dry with out rinsing. Dry cleaning only soaks and agitates, leaving the chemicals and dirt.

When cleaning wool carpets make sure the solution you choose does not have ammonia. Knowing which type of carpet you have and its cleaning properties will allow you to make a better decision on the right carpet cleaning solution for you. If you are not careful when cleaning the stain you could discolor the carpet when you using cleaners, make sure you test it before cleaning the stain. When cleaning carpets make sure you do not use to much water, the reason for this is because it could diminish the effects for the glue holding the carpet together.

Always try to choose a product with the least amount of chemicals and in the mildest you can find that will work. The choices today for carpet cleaning solutions is vast, read the labels to make sure the solution fits the job you need it for.

There are many products are the market to clean your carpets, shampoos are very popular because they are normally safe to use and it does a good enough job. Check the products label before purchasing to make sure it is what you need to clean the carpet. <bio>David Marc Fishman is the owner the http://www.tipsquad.com site.
Choosing whether to clean a carpet yourself or have a professional. Instructions on how to clean a carpet yourself. Save money by doing it yourself.

It seems like as soon as you get something new. it will get stained. The same is true of your new carpet. You are usually extra careful when the carpet is brand new. but that won't stop the stains from being attracted to it. Luckily. you can get rid of stains on carpets. if only you find the right way. The two main options are to try to take care of it yourself. or hire a professional to get rid of the stains.

If you have a small stain on your carpet. it is probably not worth while to hire a professional to clean it up. A small stain can usually be removed using materials you may already have. It can be easy or difficult to lift these small stains: it will depend upon how large the stain is. and how long it has been sitting. A small. fresh stain will usually be relatively easy to get rid of. A large stain that you were not able to get to right away may take a longer time to treat. The very first thing you have to do if you want to make stain removal easier. is to blot as much of the stain up with plain white paper towels. Blotting is the best way to go. because excess rubbing will damage the fiber. and this may make the stains set better into the broken fiber.

The most common household items used or cleaning carpet stains are dishwashing liquid. dilluted household ammonia. hydrogen peroxide. rubbing alcohol and white vineger. Of course. there are also commercial products expressly developed for cleaning carpets.

To get rid of a stain. you will need one of the above cleaning solutions. plus: paper towels. a spray bottle and a brick. The brick is to keep the paper towel in place as you are using it to blot the stain. For grease stains. blot the stain first with the paper towel. Putting a little isopropyl alcohol on the towel will help lift the grease. But you cannot use a lot of alcohol; you do not want it to soak into the carpet. For stains that have not set too deeply. rub gently in one direction.

If a stain is a water based spill. just using a wet vacuum immediately may get rid of the problem quickly. If. however. the stain has been sitting for a while. you may have to moisturize the stain with a little water to help with removal. Remember. a little water; we don't want the rug saturated. Let the water sit and use the blotting technique as usual. Use dishwashing detergent to gently lift the stain. If the stain remains. spray with water and remove the solution just used and start with something stronger. Put something like hydrogen peroxide on the towel and blot with that. Keep trying until the stain is gone.

This is a time consuming process that you have to work at. but if you want to save money. it is worth the effort. Professional carpet cleaners can be expensive. especially if they work by the hour. and part of that time is just waiting for the cleaning method to take effect. You can be doing the same thing yourself instead of paying for it. <bio>Andrew Caxton is a syndicated columnist of http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com .
It can be hard to keep your carpet looking good. You probably know that you need to vacuum your carpet regularly and clean it at least once a year but do you know about all of the hidden dangers in your home. Things that can potentially ruin your carpet. Keep reading this short article and learn about a few of the uncommon dangers to your carpet in your home.

One uncommon danger to your carpet is acne medication. If you have children in their teens you probably have several bottles of this lying around your home. The problem with acne medication is that it can bleach your carpet. So if your child applies this medication then touches the carpet they can cause a bleach spot. It will not appear right away but instead will bleach the carpet gradually or with the next carpet cleaning. To prevent this type of damage be sure that your children wash their hands thoroughly after applying acne medication. Also make sure that they store it and use it in areas away from carpeting.

Another uncommon danger to your carpet is latex backed bathroom rugs. These are common in many homes but they can pose a serious threat to carpet. The latex backing, when new, will off gas and could react with your homes carpet turning it yellow. This yellow stain is usually permanent and can not be removed. To prevent this type of damage be sure to buy bath rugs without a latex backing. To minimize the chance of damage if you do buy a latex backed rug, place the rug out in the sun to let the latex backing cure completely.

The last uncommon danger to your carpet that I will talk about is plants. Planters should never be placed on the carpet. They will inevitably at some time or another be over watered. When they are, this mineral rich water will hit your carpet and could stain it permanently. If you must place a planter on the carpet make sure that you have a good drip pan under it and be careful not to over water it.

There are many dangers to your carpet in your home but if you take the time to notice them you can prevent damage and have a long lasting carpet. Good luck and remember to call your carpet cleaner at least once a year for a thorough carpet cleaning. <bio>Go to http://www.newhavencarpetcleaning.info for more information on carpet cleaning. </bio>

Most carpet owners are not sure how to go about cleaning their floor covering. Here is some advice to accomplish this necessary chore successfully.

Because there are numerous types of carpets and even more misleading products in the shops it is not easy to know the right way to clean your carpet. Whether you would rather clean yours with a ready made product or by using a natural method, the idea is to do away with this chore as fast and efficiently as possible. Here are a few examples of cleaning methods that will allow you to do just that.

What Kind of Carpet Do You Have?

It is important before you get started to find out with certainty what kind of carpet you have. It may be more complex that it seems: firstly you need to find out if it is made from special fibers or from non-synthetic materials, so that you can clean it according to the manufacturer's specific instructions. The goal is to clean your carpet, not ruin it through an unsuitable process.

Removing Stains The Natural Way

The method described below is recommended if you want to use natural products to clean up stains on your carpets.

• The first thing to remember is to get to the stains before they set. You need to react immediately as soon as something gets spilled on to the carpet. With an absorbent cloth, simply blot up the spilled liquid until it is fully absorbed and the carpet is dry. You should never scrub while doing so as it can make the stain worse.

• The next step is to use a gentle detergent such as dishwashing soap. You should dilute it with water first before blotting a small quantity onto the stain. You should then remove it by applying gentle pressure with an absorbing cloth.

• The first two steps will get rid of most stains, but should the stain still be visible you can try to remove it by blotting on hydrogen peroxide. Before you do so, however, you should always do a test on an inconspicuous area first to check that this treatment is suitable for your type of carpet and won't stain it further.

• Should these simple steps fail your next course of action it to get the carpet professionally cleaned by a specialist. They have access to powerful products that can get rid of problem stains.

For the regular shampooing of your carpet it is recommended that you use a carpet cleaning machine: these are widely available to buy or rent. <bio>Andrew Caxton contributes adding content to http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com.
In most cases when having a problem with carpet mold, you have two options. The first is to remove the moldy carpet entirely or clean the carpet carefully with a natural carpet cleaning product. Since carpet removal may not be your option, cleaning the carpet with a natural solution that will remove mold spores, stains, and prevent them from coming back is where this helpful article will tell all.

Cleaning Carpet Mold And Staining

If you are to clean your carpet mold, then you need to consider the correct solution and understand what not to use. It is recommended to not use bleach. This will destroy the carpet, stain the carpeting, and leave harsh smelling odor that may be worse than carpet mold.

For carpet mold, you need a natural cleaning product that is formulated for fibers of the carpeting. You do not want to soak your carpet with to much water either. The solution is to use a natural cleaning product that has mold removing ingredients and encapsulate. The ingredients should be natural not to stain the carpets and must have preventive ingredients to prevent future staining and mold growth.

You see it is not enough to clean the topical area of the carpet. This may not totally prevent the black mold from coming back. At times you could see the mold in the carpeting grow back later in 4 to 6 weeks. This is the importance of the encapsulate. You will want to take this solution and spray it on the soiled area and allow to settle. While the natural cleaning product for carpet mold settles, it will begin breaking apart the DNA of the mold spores for the carpet. This will help for the next step which is blotting the mold on the carpet. You may also use a special Heppa vac if you have it. But to keep things simple, use a cloth or rag. And use one side of each rag for one stroke of cleaning the moldy carpeting. To kill carpet mold, the rag should be used only once for each mold stain, trying not to reuse the same side or area of the rag for each carpet mold spot.

Now after you carefully blot the mold and remove it from the carpet with a rag, you will want to make sure the black mold and mildew will not grow back in the carpet. Carpet mold is a tough enemy for households, because of the many fibers they settle on. Be sure to have a strong mold cleaning solution that can kill carpet mold and prevent future growth. This will help your carpeting as well as indoor air quality.

Also, there is one huge important tip. Try to look at the edges of your carpeting around where the source of the problem may have come from. Life the carpet and look at the tack strips below, they are wood pieces with tacks in them. These may have mold and mildew stains in them as well. Spray these down with a natural cleaning product that will kill mold and remove mold. This is another source for carpet mold and should be attacked. <bio>Largest Mold Cleaning Products Store Online http://www.propertyperfections.net Ask for mold advice free at http://www.mold-removal.biz/ask </bio>

One of the key points in keeping your carpet clean is to clean up spills quickly to avoid any staining. First, remove any solids, and then clean up the spill using clean, cold water and then blotting it with a paper towel or a cloth. If the stain does not come out then perhaps it is time to call an expert. Carpet cleaning in Boston is a very solid business to own and operate as many homeowners and business owners depend on this important cleaning service.

Another important point to note is that you should never brush or scrub the spill or stain as it can damage the carpet fibers and then possibly set the stain permanently. Regular vacuuming along with appropriate spot treatment will greatly improve the quality and the life of your carpets and upholstery. These tips are recommended by carpet cleaning Boston.

Many carpet cleaning Boston professionals recommend that you start with clean water and then move on to a mild soap solution consisting of a liquid soap or oxygen based cleaner. These cleaners usually work well on stains that are organic in nature such as animal stains, bloodstains or food stains. Once all these options have been exhausted then consider using a chemical spot remover. Chemicals are quite hard on the carpet and upholstery fibers so it is always best to try to avoid them if possible.

If applying chemicals carpet cleaning Boston professionals recommend that gloves should be warn at all times. The chemical product should be tested on the carpet or upholstery in an area that is hidden to make certain that it will not stain the carpet or upholstery. If the test proves that the cleaner is safe then apply a small amount of the spot removal solution to a clean white cloth and work from the outside of the stain towards the middle of the stain. If the stain still has not been removed then try a stronger solution of the chemical cleaner.

Once the stain is finally removed, rinse the area with clean water and blot out the excess water. Make sure to get out as much of the water as possible. Water can damage the carpet and cause mildew to develop in your carpet.

Another key point to remember when looking after your carpets according to carpet cleaning Boston professionals is that carpets need cleaning on a regular basis because they can become a breeding ground for pollutants. Once you can actually see the dirt in your carpet, it is probably already extremely dirty.

Carpets cleaned regularly and thoroughly help to get rid of the pollutants. Carpet cleaning Boston professionals agree that pollutants in the air first infiltrate the forced air duct system of a home. That air is then circulated and settles on the carpets in the home. This is why it is important to clean your carpets regularly even if they do not appear to be dirty because you cannot see air pollutants! Regular cleaning will help any asthma sufferers in your home breathe much easier as well. <bio>We provide tips and information on http://www.cleanbostoncarpet.com/ carpet cleaning in Boston and http://www.cleanbostoncarpet.com/Boston_Upholstery_Cleaning.html Boston upholstery cleaning. by D.
After a carpet cleaning you have surely been asked whether or not you would like to have carpet cleaning protector applied. You have probably also wondered if it is really worth it or if it mainly benefits the carpet cleaners pocketbook. Read this article and learn about why you should or should not have protector applied.

Whether or not to have carpet cleaner applied to your carpet is and important decision. There are many reasons to use it and many reasons not to. I will start with the reasons to have it applied. Carpet protector acts like wax on your car. It forms a barrier between dirt and your carpet. This means that many spills will simply dry on the surface instead of sinking into the fibers. They can then be easily cleaned up or even vacuumed off when they completely dry. If you have expensive carpet you should definitely have protector applied. You have invested a lot of money in your carpet and need to protect it. You will also want to use protector if you have a Nylon carpet and have kids running around with food and drink. Nylon carpet, which is very common, is susceptible to acid dyes commonly found in food and protectors will have acid dye blockers.

In addition to these reasons to use protector there are also reasons to not have it applied. For starters if you have purchased an inexpensive carpet it might not be worth the cost as the carpet will probably wear out quickly. Another reason not to have carpet protector applied is if you have an Olefin carpet. Olefin does not stain easily and will not see much benefit from protectors. In fact the protector will probably not even adhere well to the fiber of Olefin. Lastly if you plan on cleaning your carpet often you might be better off putting the money towards your future cleaning costs.

There are many reasons to choose protector and many reasons not to. Hopefully this article has given you some guidance and will help you make your decision. Good luck. <bio>Learn more about carpet protectors at http://www.denvercarpetcleaning.net where you can find local Denver carpet cleaners. </bio>

Get Rid of Carpet Stains

Getting stains on your carpet is a problem. Getting them off doesn't have to be.

However, when it comes to removing carpet stains, there are certain rules that you will need to follow. To go technical in your efforts should be your last resort.

You may try a few simple steps first before trying the more advanced and expensive way.

There are certain steps to take in removing those stains from your carpet. These steps may be simple, but they will surely resolve many things before you can even take any further action.

Well, the first thing to do, which is also the wisest, is to prevent any spill from becoming a stain. While it is still a "spot," work out on it instead of exerting greater efforts after it has settled as a stain. Remember, stains are more permanent and they will require more procedures.

Stain-proof Carpets

Some companies introduce stain-proof carpets. The question is, "Os there really such a thing?" Well, most experts say that such carpets are not yet invented. Yes, it is true that many modern-day carpets are stain-resistant; however, they are not stain-proof. The quality of being stain-resistant only means the stain will not immediately settle and you will be granted a longer period of time to remove it.

Getting the Pain-staking Stains Out

Rubbing either spots or stains on a carpet is a big no-no. Doing this thing will only worsen the situation. What you have to do is blot it up with a dry white paper. Using dry cotton, sponge or wool cloth is an option. By using any of these materials, what you will do is push it down or press it on the spot or stain so soak it up.

Such effort will get the liquid out on your carpet. However, avoid rubbing it because by doing so, it will only spread further and removing it will be more pain-staking.

If this method failed to remove the stain, you will have to bring along a wet sponge or wool cloth this time; but instead of just pressing, try to dab it in a circular motion. This should work. But then, if it didn't, you may dissolve a small amount of soap into the water that you will use for dabbing.

For semi-solid to solid stains, like jelly and other sandwich spread, the first step to take is scoop the excess with a spoon. This should be done carefully, lest, there is a risk of spreading the stain. If the stain has hardened or dried out because you were not able to see it at once, you will need to break it up first before cleaning it with a vacuum. Afterwards, you may clean the remaining spot up using the above mentioned methods.

If the stain proved to be so tough that it has started to become a pain in the neck, it is the ultimate sign that you will now have to use solvents or any cleaning solution to deal with it. You may choose the right solvent depending on the type of stain which will be removed.

Place a small amount of solvent on a clean piece of cotton and dab it on the stain. From outside, press the cotton harder so that it can work its way inside. Extract the excess solvent by blotting it up with a dry cotton or cloth before rinsing it with water.

Never forget to blot away the excess solvent because it can cause damage to the carpet and will make the color to fade out. Blot the excess water up also. Repeat the process until the whole stain is extracted. For best results, you may use a shop-vac to extract the excess solvent and water from the carpet.

Finishing Touches

Test the treated portion of the carpet by pressing a clean part of the cloth on it. If no more stain will go with it when you move it away, then it means you made it. The final step should be drying up the carpet as quickly as possible. You may do so by placing a paper towel on the wet spots or blowing a fan for an hour or so. <bio>Angela Mercer explains vacuum cleaner pros and cons at http://www.vacuumratings101.com and also at http://www.vacuumratings101.com/bagless-vacuum-cleaners.html </bio>

You might not realize it, but one of the biggest determinants of whether your house looks clean is your carpet. Even if a house is kept sparkling clean; a dull, dingy carpet will make it feel dirty and less homey. Even worse than that is a clean carpet with a giant stain in the middle. Keeping your home looking great involves keeping your carpet looking great too. Here are a few tips to help your carpet look clean and inviting.

The best tip I can give you for getting your carpet clean is to take steps to not let it get dirty in the first place. I understand that if you have kids and pets this is pretty much impossible, but there are things you can do to keep it from not getting quite so bad. The first option is to consider not having carpet at all. Area rugs on hardwood floors are so much easier to keep clean than carpet. You may not be able to afford this option, but if you can it should definitely be a consideration.

A good way to keep carpets cleaner is to keep outside dirt from getting in. Encourage everyone to leave their shoes at the door. You can also put down welcome mats and boot scrapers at the door. Just remember to put them at all entrances, including back or side doors.

Another great idea for keeping your carpets clean is to vacuum regularly. Carpet griminess doesn't usually happen from spills; it happens from regular dirt and dust getting ground into the carpet. Vacuuming on a regular basis may seem tedious, but it can save you a lot of money by keeping your carpet cleaner (and saving you scrubbing time). It can also help with allergies and asthma by picking up dust mites and other allergens that live in your carpet. If carpet does start to look dingy, you can rent a hot water "steam" cleaner to refresh them and get out ground in dirt. If you're worried about chemicals in your carpets, just run them with clean water; they'll still get out most of the dirt.

I've always been told that if a stain isn't gone within a few hours, it isn't going anywhere. If spills and stains do occur, you should do your best to clean them right away. My favorite type of carpet cleaners are the kinds that contain two separate cleaners that don't combine until you spray them on the stain. This then produces oxygen bubbles which quickly get to work cleaning your stains. I'm not sure exactly why these work better, I just know they do. Another high quality product to clean your carpets is Simply Green. I can't tell you how many people I've heard or read recommend this product for all the toughest stains. It's also great to use in steam cleaners.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money on cleaners, or are worried about bringing chemicals into your house; there are several household products that work great to get out stains. If you have a greasy stain, try putting baking soda on the stain and letting it sit for several hours. This should soak up the stain and you can just vacuum away the excess particles. If a stain requires more scrubbing, you can mix 1 part vinegar with 2 parts water and scrub like a normal carpet cleaning product. Just remember to clean it out well so you're not left with the smell. Other products that can work are club soda or hydrogen peroxide.

Whatever product you use, remember to wash out all the cleanser. Soap residue left in the carpet can become sticky and attract new dirt; making the stain seemingly reappear. Stains can also come back if you don't get the pad of the carpet clean enough. To get out the deep down dirt, use lots of water when cleaning spots; then, put a large amount of paper towels and a heavy object of the stain and let it set overnight. This will suck up any leftover dirty water that may have stayed in the carpet.

Whether you've just bought new carpet and you want to keep it looking great, or you have old carpet that needs reviving; these tips can help make your carpet look great and stay that way. <bio>Gray Rollins is a featured writer for http://www.purecarpetcleaning.com/.
If you have carpet you will no doubt have an occasion to do some spot cleaning. But do you really know how to spot clean your homes carpet? It sounds simple but there are some things that you need to know in order to successfully spot clean. Read this article and you will be a carpet cleaning professional in no time.

The first thing you need to realize is that their is a difference between a spot and a stain. A spot is soil that is clinging to the carpet fiber and can be removed with a cleaner. A stain is something that can not be removed with basic cleaning. Examples of stains might include furniture stains or kool aid stains. If a spot does not react to spot cleaning it is actually a stain and you will need to call a professional in to take care of it. Do not waste your time or make the stain worse by working on it more. Now that this is out of the way lets move on to what you need. There are basically three things you need. You need a bottle of general spotter, a bottle of vinegar and water and some terry cloth towels. The general spotter should be one commercially available that says that it is safe on stain resistant carpet. The vinegar and water bottle should be a trigger sprayer filled with a mixture of one part white distilled vinegar and three parts water. Finally the towels should be 100% cotton terry cloth towels available in the cleaning section of most home improvement stores. Now that you have purchased everything you should keep them in one convenient location so that hey are ready to go in a moments notice. Buy a small bucket or tote and keep it in one place like under the kitchen sink. When you do get a spot, here is what you should do. First, blot up as much of the soil as possible with your terry cloth towels. Then mist on the cleaning solution and allow it to dwell for a moment. Blot up this solution with the towel being careful to blot and not rub. Work from the outside in to avoid spreading the spot. You might have to repeat this step so repeat it until no more soil transfers to the rag. Now spray the vinegar solution onto the spot and allow it to dwell. Blot it up and once again repeat until no more soil transfers. The vinegar solution will neutralize the other spotter and will remove additional soil. Let the spot completely dry before putting it back to use. If any of the spot remains you should call a local carpet cleaner but most spots will respond well to a basic cleaner and the vinegar cleaner.

I hope this article has been of assistance to you. If you need further help be sure to call your local carpet cleaner. They have the experience to handle advanced spotting and stain problems. Good luck. <bio>Learn more tips on this at http://www.inglewoodcarpetcleaning.info , a carpet cleaners website. </bio>
