If you've got a debt but you don't want to pay any interest, the answer could not be simpler. All you need to do is find a credit card with a 0% interest rate on balance transfers. This is an introductory offer commonly offered by credit card companies.

How Long Does The Interest Free Period Last?

Most credit card companies offer the low balance transfer rate for a fixed period. There are two ways in which this happens. One way is to have an expiry date of a particular month and year. The second is to specify that the introductory offer lasts for a certain period from the issue of the card. This can be as short a period as three months or as long as 12 months.

Some introductory credit card offers also give a 0% rate on purchases. This means that for a fixed period (usually about six months) credit card users can spend as usual but pay no interest.

What's The Catch?

Credit card companies hope that purchasers will keep the money on the card after the preferential rate has expired. However there's no rule that says that credit card users have to do this. To avoid paying any interest, credit card users can switch their balance to another card. This is known as credit card jumping or rate surfing. The advantage of rate surfing is that credit card users will reduce their debt because the payments they make will not simply be paying off interest.

Credit card companies have caught on to credit card jumpers. Many of them now impose a balance transfer fee of around 2%.This makes rate surfing less attractive. There are still cards that do not charge this fee, though, so it's worth shopping around.

How Else Can I Get An Interest Free Credit Card?

The other way of getting an interest free credit card will work well for people who are organised about managing their money. Those who always clear their balances in full will be able to put their monthly spending on a credit card and clear it at the end of each month without ever paying any interest.

Even people who don't clear their balances in full will be able to take advantage of the interest free periods offered by each credit card. These can be as much as 58 days. All credit card users need to do is make a note of when the interest on the balance is due and pay off the outstanding amount before that.

Paying The Price Of An Interest Free Credit Card

It's best to make the payment a week in advance to give the payment enough time to clear. Otherwise there could be a nasty surprise in the form of an interest payment. Credit card companies also have different approaches to how they apply the payments people make. If your credit card company applies payment to new debt first, then older spending could incur an interest charge. <bio>Joe Kenny writes for the UK personal finance sites http://www.ukpersonalloanstore.co.uk and also http://www.cardguide.co.uk </bio>

As you look through the daily newspaper, you are probably amazed by the number of credit card offers advertised. While shopping around the city you find credit card offers are omnipresent. This is also true with television which also advertises many different credit card offers. There is no getting around it, credit card offers are everywhere you go. Do you wonder why there are so many credit card offers? Well, to be straight-forward, the primary reason for so many offers is that the credit card business is highly profitable for credit card issuers.

After looking over the situation, when there seems to be an endless number of credit card offers, how do you determine what is the best credit card offer for you?

Everyone wants to get the best credit card offer and we know the spending habits of one person, more than likely is very different from that of another person. Credit card users lifestyles vary and therefore their spending choices vary too. So, to decide which credit card offer is best for you, you need to evaluate the type of credit card you want, perhaps need, based on your lifestyle and your spending habits. Recommendations from other credit card users are sometime valuable, but it actually comes down to your personal needs evaluation to determine which credit card you should select. If you travel frequently by airline, an airline credit card may be a better selection for you than a general purpose card. Airline credit cards offer discounts, rebates and other kinds of rewards when the credit card is used for making airline travel purchases. Also you may find, if you have a favorite retail store, where you do a great deal of shopping, that it is beneficial to check if the retailer is also a credit card issuer and if they offer a credit card beneficial to you. Many big retail chains do offer credit cards to their patrons and their credit cards offers rebates, discounts rewards and more. With these credit cards you get reward points for making purchases any place but the rewards and discounts are higher on the purchases made at the retail store issuing the credit card. Many gas stations, grocery stores and other retailers offer credit cards as well. These cards also offer special benefits and rewards to their users.

If you are researching credit card choices, you will find many exceptional credit card offers. Still, you do not want to enroll to all the credit card offers available. You should evaluate your needs and order them. Then, determine which credit card offers best suit your needs. When you select your credit card, the one that will effectively handle most of your needs, while giving maximum benefits is the one you should choose. <bio>Art Taylor has been a successful internet marketer for 10 years.
Using two different credit cards and transferring balance between them is the easiest way to avoid credit card fees and interest rates that are levied on the balance of the card. Many savvy credit card users think out of the box to avoid credit card fees by transferring funds from one card to another.

Credit card companies make their most of the income from the charges and fees that are applied on using credit cards. If these fees were not placed then credit card companies would never make the amount of profit they generate from consumers using their credit cards.

Credit card companies charge various types of fees on a credit card. The most common fees that is applied on a credit card is the late fee when the consumer does not repays the amount spent from the card within in the due date. Second, major charge is the over due - limit fee when a card holder spends more than his card limit. The easiest way to avoid these fees is by limiting your credit card use and repaying all your dues within time.

Interest rate is the fee imposed on credit card by the companies in return of convenience of carrying balance on the card beyond the grace period. Grace period can vary from one card to another but it is included with the monthly statement of the card. When you do not repay your card balance within the due date then the balance on the credit card will be subject to interest rate.

With additional interest rate and credit card fees a cardholder normally goes on to pay more than the normal amount of the purchased item. Hence, it is the major responsibility of the card holder to control his spending habit and limit any fees on to his card.

Transferring balance between two cards which have different grace periods with different closing dates can be easier way to avoid card fees. If the closing day of both the card is on same day then you will be subject to interest rate or late fee or perhaps both. In case your cards closing date are on same day then you can call your card company and ask them to change the due date.

Transferring balance between two cards can easily reduce your card fees but you should be precise on doing this as any delay in transferring can cost you more than the normal cards fees. To sum up it in easy way, let's say you have Card A which ends on 1st of the month and Card B which ends on 15th of the month. Now, to avoid card fees on Card A, you must transfer all the balance of Card A to Card B before the first of the month. Then again you must transfer the balance from Card B to Card A before 15th of the month. You should be precise in doing this as the delay in transferring will hurt you more than the normal credit card fees.

Credit cards companies apply various kinds of charges on its users, but with slight knowledge and control of your spending habit you can easily reduce these charges. Though you still may be subject to certain charges which are applied because you hold a credit card but still the significant amount of fees that an average users without any knowledge of reducing it pays to credit card companies can easily be reduced using these methods.<bio>Financial products such as credit cards are not always straightforward.
With over 1,300 UK credit card providers, the credit card industry in the UK has mushroomed beyond all recognition in the last decade. Nonetheless, much like at any other time during which credit cards have been made available to us in Britain, once we select a credit card provider we rarely change. This does beg the question: "Is your UK credit card doing you credit?".

Competitive interest rates

With the publication of the recent Office of Fair Trading report on excess interest and fess being charged by UK credit card issuer, many credit card providers in the UK are now having to re-examine the interest rates they charge. Consequently, it is possible to obtain extremely competitive (for credit card use) interest rates at the moment. Do be left behind, make sure your card provider is offering you the best rate of interest available in the market place.

Minimum fees

Some credit card providers charge their members an annual membership fee. Others charges what are known as hidden fees if they fail to make repayments on time, use an ATM to withdraw money, conduct transactions overseas, etc. However, with the cut-throat nature of the business at the moment, you should be able to make sure you get a provider willing to offer you a credit card without you having to incur these fees.

Make your credit card loyalty program work for you

9 out of every 10 UK credit card users now chooses to have a credit card provider that also offers a loyalty program that we like. However, more than 1 in 5 of us neglects to redeem our loyalty points in a timely manner. This is estimated to be a net cost to credit card users of £50 per issued credit card. If you are not making maximum use of your loyalty program, then you are not making maximum use of your credit card and your credit card is not doing you credit!

In need, transfer your credit card balance

Credit card providers have caught on to the trick where credit card users transfer balances from one credit card provider to another in order to take advantage of special introductory promotions. However, if you're on of the 6 out of every10 Britons' who carries over a credit card balance each month, and are stuck with paying high credit card interest, and have not investigated whether or not you might be able to reduce this burden by transferring your balance to a promotional program with a lower rate of interest, then you are not making maximum use of your credit card.

Be willing to look at the competition

Finally, whether you are credit card user who like to pay off their balance in a timely manner at the end of each credit card statement payment day, or one who carries over a debt on your credit card each month, the most important thing about using credit cards in the UK today is that you educate yourself about what is going on in the UK credit card industry and that you be willing to swap and change provider to meet your individual credit card needs. In short, similar to staying with the same employer throughout your working life, the days of staying with the same credit card provider throughout your adult life is a thing of the past. <bio>Joe Kenny writes for the UK personal finance sites http://www.ukpersonalloanstore.co.uk and also http://www.cardguide.co.uk </bio>

A large number of major credit cards offer specialized cards, one of which is the airline credit card. This type of credit card, some of which are sponsored by an airline, provides frequent flier bonuses and a mileage program for its users. The use of airline credit cards may provide card owners many benefits, the most common of which is flying for free by accumulating airline miles.

Airline credit cards can be most beneficial to individuals who spend a lot and also travel a lot. If you are thinking of acquiring an airline credit card, you may want to choose one that is affiliated with a specific airline you typically fly with, this way you can maximize the benefits of your airline credit card.

The Different Types of Airline Credit Cards

There are several types of airline credit cards, providing credit card users options when choosing this type of card. The main types of airline credit cards are:

Air Miles

The air miles card allows its users to generate a certain number of miles for every purchase made with the card. For example, the Northwest Visa card allows card owners to earn one mile per 2$ (USD) purchase spent beyond the initial amount of 10,000$. Different credit card companies offer different schemes in earning air miles; however, the use of the air miles card revolves around the general principle that the more you use your air miles card, the more miles you earn.

Frequent Flyer Miles

Frequent Flyer Miles Cards allow its users to earn frequent flyer miles on a specific airline or an airline of your choosing, depending on the terms of the credit card. This usually means you will have to pay for your airline tickets using your credit card to earn frequent flyer miles. This type of credit card may also provide a rewards point system, allowing its users to accumulate more points every time the card is used to pay for airline tickets.

Rewards Card

Rewards cards are those that offer its users the option of earning points for all purchases made using the credit card. These points, in turn, may then be used to redeem benefits such as vacation cruises, gift certificates, discounted rates in hotels and car rental services, and maybe even free hotel accommodations. This type of card also works the same way as the air miles =96 the more you spend using the card, the more points you earn, and the better rewards you can redeem.

Benefits of Airline Credit Cards

An airline credit card owner can enjoy many perks and benefit by using his airline credit card wisely. A few of these great benefits include:

=95 Saving cash when paying for flights =95 Getting airline discounts such as miles =95 Getting special offers on flights =95 Availing of airline bonus and promotional schemes =95 Acquiring gift certificates for major retail stores =95 The option to upgrade flight tickets using the airline credit card =95 Getting access to VIP airport lounge areas =95 Free or discounted travel services such as hotel accommodations and car rentals

Aside from these generic benefits, airline credit card owners may also avail of other card benefits such as insurance for travel accidents, emergency assistance services, and insurance for car rentals.

These are all great benefits when using an airline credit card, however, you should always understand how the system works before jumping in and spending left and right. In choosing a card, you should also opt for one that provides the most flexible travel dates and has no expiry or limit on the miles earned. Remember, choose a card that suits your needs and one that will work best for you. <bio>Easily apply for credit cards at http://www.creditcardexclusive.com - Make money online as a credit card affiliate check out http://www.creditcardpublisher.com </bio>

When the direct sales agent comes to offer you the credit card, without any transaction fee you are always happy to put that card in your wallet. But it may also happen that at the end of the year after the card has completed one year and when you receive the bill for annual fees on the credit card you may rue the decision of having the credit card. It had been observed by the credit card industry that most of the credit cards underwent mortality within a year of being issued, as the users were not ready to pay the annual fee of the credit card.

The way out was No annual fee credit card. The advent of no annual fee credit card has taken care of the rate of surrender that the card users were experiencing. As there is no annual fee to be paid, the cancellation rate on the cards has come down to a great extent. In technical terms no annual fee credit cards are those cards where the card issuing banks do not make any charge for providing servicing on the card on an annual basis. No annual fee credit cards have also come into vogue after the advent of the era of information technology. No annual fee credit cards can be applied on line and there is always a chance of instant approval if one has a good credit rating.

The other advantage of no annual fee credit card also lies in the fact that you may also not be charged any transfer fee if any amount that is outstanding is transferred to this card. One of the most redeeming features of no annual fee card is that they could also be one of the best frequent flier cards, the best credit cards that provide maximum cash back, the best gas credit cards, as also the hotel credit cards. Does it then mean that any body can have the no annual fee credit card? Not at all. The no annual fee credit cards are made available only to those who have a good credit history i.e. those customers who pay their bills on time, and therefore it is a reward for good credit history.

No annual fee credit cards are also given to the students as it is considered their baptism into the world of credit cards. As the no annual fee credit cards can be applied for online, it is always advisable to first check your credit report. After getting the credit score, it should be matched against the type of credit cards that are on offer online. If you have not found your credit history, and have put in application for no annual fee credit card online, there is always a chance that the card may be denied. So, you are advised to get details of your credit history.

When you are applying for the no annual fee credit cards, also check in if there is some kind of a catch involved in the form of higher set up fee, steep cash advance fee etc., the idea being to be sure that the annual fee would be charged on some other pretext. <bio>Devin Gilliland provides expert opinions and advice on how to apply and manage credit cards at http://www.credit-wisdom.com </bio>

Incentive programs, interest rates, compounding methods all combine to make the use of a credit card a potentially costly experience.

The first term that is very important when it comes to credit cards is "Annual Fee". Some credit card companies charge more then just interest. Some card companies charge a fee, paid annually to the card holder just for the privilege of having the card. This charge is applied to the card, even if the card is not used. This fee may rage any where from $5.00 to $300.00 and is usually only found on credit cards that are tailored to the very high end market.

Another common term used by the credit card companies is "Introductory rate" or "Intro rate". This term will be found on credit cards that are offering discounted interest rates as an incentive to the buyer to accept on of these cards. Usually this rate is substantially below the regular interest rate charged by the credit card company. Often this rate is valid for a limited time period and once it expires the regular rate applies. Those considering this type of credit card should be very sure that they are aware of what the actual rate on the credit card will be after the offer's expiry date. It is quite common for people to get trapped by running up a credit card on a large purchase thinking they will pay it off in a short period of time, and then get quite a surprise once the interest rate jumps back to the normally charged rate.

Many credit card companies encourage users to transfer the charges off their existing credit cards onto those of the new card. Usually this is offered or encouraged when the credit card has a low introductory interest rate. The credit card holder should be very careful and read the fine print to make sure they are not going to be charged a fee for this privilege. Often credit card companies have a "Balance transfer fee" that they charge to their customers when ever they consolidate the balances of all their other cards. This fee is often more money then would be saved by taking advantage of the lower interest rate.

Credit cards are a wonderful and convenient financial tool when they are used wisely. Making sure that the card holder has a complete understanding of the card, will guarantee this financial tool is used properly and the risk of financial hardship will be reduced. <bio>Criss manages http://www.getsomeplastic.com and http://www.travelstreet.info </bio>

With the proliferation of the credit card these days it is quite common to find people with more then one card in their wallet. The question that is often asked is if that is necessary and if in fact that is even a good idea.

There are many reasons why an individual may have multiple credit cards. One of the most common reasons of having more then one card is to keep separate the charges made for personal use with the charges that are made for business use. It is often easier to simply submit one statement with only business charges on it for reimbursement then it is to sit down and highlight the charges that need to repaid. There is also the issue of privacy. Does a person want his or her boss to know what they do or spend in their free time?

Another common reason to have multiple cards is to separate those that are used for travel with those that are used for every day expenses. This is often done as a way of tracking holiday expenses and making sure that budgets are not over spent. This is also a way of ensuring that at least one credit card stays home, and in the event a wallet is lost or stolen, at least one card will not have to be replaced.

In reviewing credit card statistics collected by Experian's latest nation wide survey it was found that as many as 10% of all credit card users carry more then 10 different credit cards in their wallet, and over half of all credit card users hold at least two different credit cards. This of course includes regular credit cards, gas cards, and department store credit cards. Interestingly enough this same survey produced an average of 4 credit cards per person.

The key to using credit cards safely is to stay within your means and not overspend. As long as your total credit available does not exceed your ability to repay then the number of credit cards in your possession does not matter. If the total credit available is more then you can afford, then the potential for problems exists. <bio>Criss manages http://www.getsomeplastic.com and http://www.travelstreet.info </bio>

A credit card is something very important that should be well taken care. If anyone gets hold of your credit card number they can fraudulently pay for items without your knowledge and leave you with debt you know nothing about. But why does a credit card have so many numbers. Is it to make it more difficult for others to know your number?

All of the numbers on your credit card means something. The first digit is determined by the credit card system whose card you are using, whether it is Visa, MasterCard, American-Express or Diners Club International. If your card is a Visa, this is what the rest of your numbers represent. The digits from second to six are the number of the bank issuing the credit card, while the numbers from seven to twelve or fifteen would be your account number. The last digit is a check number.

Whenever you use your card to pay for an item these digits will help the system to charge the correct account. All these details enable the system to accurately track all your transactions, including the date, place and exact time. These will then be reflected on the statements that you receive from your card issuer, which you have to carefully study to make sure there aren't any charges you're unaware of. If you notice anything that doesn't seem right you should immediately contact your card issuer.

It is for this reason you should never divulge your credit card number to anyone unless you have good reason to trust them. If it is a website you are dealing with make sure that their payment system is secure. Of course nothing is totally secure and you can never rule out fraudulent activity no matter what you do.

It wasn't long ago that we heard of a hacker who gained access to a andquot;secureandquot; area containing millions of credit card numbers. This theft compromised the card numbers of millions of unsuspecting credit card users. This shows you that you are never totally safe as even big corporations and IT companies are targeted by hackers. However by taking the right steps you will considerably minimize your risk to fall prey to unscrupulous individuals. <bio>For more information on credit cards, including how to find the best deals please visit http://www.credit-card-centre.com now. </bio>

A 0% APR is essentially a credit card offered by credit card companies to their consumers with an 'annual percentage rate' (APR) of zero percent. However, this rate does not exist forever, and after a period that ranges between three to twelve months, credit card companies begin charging higher rates of interest. Therefore, the major factors to be considered are the duration of the no-interest period, and what would be the APR rate after the offer ends.

Advantages of owning a 0% APR Credit card:

Though 0% APR credit cards have a few catches, they can also prove to be advantageous for its users. The best way to assess these cards is by actually using one. If you pay off the monthly balance regularly, then the rate of interest will not be a major concern. Some of its main benefits are as follows:

- Cut down the interest rate: A 0% APR credit card is popular among users with heavy outstanding card balances. It helps them to slash the rate of interest incurred upon their debt.

- Travel benefits: A 0% APR credit cards offer travel benefits to its users. You could profit from this card if you travel by air frequently. Most companies provide bonus air mile benefits on APR credit cards. This could be as much as twenty-five thousand miles, merely by signing up and making your first purchase from this card. The travel facility could also be used for hotel rooms, meals and other additional alternatives. It also provides you with free gas discounts and rebates in purchasing a car.

- Cash back or reward benefits: Low APR credit cards also provide a system where you could get back a percentage of your purchases. You could get a reward of five percent for certain kinds of purchases you make.

- Paying off debt: Transferring your credit card balance that needs to be paid off to a new credit card with 0% APR would be a better money- saving solution, than holding on to the old card with a high rate of interest.

- Start up a new credit history: A 0% APR credit card can be used to establish a new credit history for a cardholder with a previous credit card debt. These cards curb the credit card usage, and initiate the necessity of spending within the budget. However, it might not be issued to people with a bad credit history.

Limitations of 0 percent interest APR credit cards:

A 0% APR credit card often comes with strings attached. Some of the major limitations are as follows:

- Usually, a 0% APR credit card offers the no-interest benefit for only a limited period, such as six months to a year.

- It might not allow you to transfer balances from high interest credit cards during the introductory 0% offer period.

- It could charge expensive fees for the process of transferring the balance.

- Some of these credit cards bear very high penalties for late payments, and automatically transfer you to an inconsistent APR rate.

- It often charges a very high interest rate once the initial offer period expires.

Therefore, although 0% APR credit cards may seem too good to be true, they do have a number of real advantages. While these promotional offers by credit card companies are useful, they need to be taken up judiciously. <bio>Joe Kenny writes for the UK personal finance sites http://www.ukpersonalloanstore.co.uk and also http://www.cardguide.co.uk </bio>

With the rise in popularity of credit cards and debit cards, over 40% of offline transactions are now conducted using plastic over cash. With this set to rise to over 2/3 thirds by 2012, the question remains =96 should I be using a credit card or debit card? For most, the answer is far from simple, and comes as a result of a number of factors, such as the size of a transaction, the transaction type and your current liquidity. With so much to consider, we have prepared this guide to ensure that you are aware of the factors that influence the fundamental choice =96 debit card v credit card.

Credit Cards Advantages

1. Should you complete a purchase with your credit card, your credit card company will provide a dispute resolution service should things go wrong. They will actually refund you in the interim until they are able to find evidence to suggest either party was correct.

2. Strapped for cash? If you are unable to finance a purchase, but will have the capital in around 1-8 weeks, then a credit card could be for you, if you are aware of the costs that you will incur for borrowing.

Credit Card Disadvantages

1. The inherent disadvantage in credit cards is that it is all too easy to get yourself in a mountain of debt. To avoid this, you must only spend with a credit card, what you know that you can afford.

2. Credit card theft and issues relating to this are on the rise. Although you may be covered for a large amount of the transaction, this can cause worry and stress to credit card users.

Debit Card Advantages

1. You can only spend money you have. With a debit card, you will not be able to spend money that is not available in your bank account, this means that you will never be in red, and therefore the risk of debt spiraling out of control, is less of a worry to you.

Debit Card Disadvantages

1. Should you complete a purchase online and things go wrong, you will have nowhere to go apart from the merchant. That is why it is strongly recommended that a credit card is used for large scale, online purchases.

2. If you do not have the cash upfront for a purchase then you may find yourself unable to finance a transaction. If you had a credit card then you would be able to do this. <bio>Devin Gilliland is editor for http://www.credit-wisdom.com </bio>

Still, it is important to ask yourself, when applying for a credit card, should a low interest credit card be the only card to shop for when searching for a credit card? In many cases, the low interest credit card is exactly what is needed, however, that is not true for all credit card seekers, though it still is a good plan to have a low interest card as a handy backup financial tool for emergency purchases and cash advances.

Let us endeavor to understand what is important about theAPR (annual percentage rate). APR is the interest rate that credit card issuers use, to calculate the amount of money, they are going to bill you, for using your credit card and carrying an unpaid monthly balance. If you make purchases or a cash advance and owe money on your credit card at your monthly credit card bill due date, you will have to pay the credit card issuers the amount you borrowed, in purchases or cash advances, plus the interest which the card issuers have applied to your account, on a monthly basis. You pay no interest amount if you pay in full, your account's dollar balance, by the credit card bill's monthly due date.

So, as you can see, people who are not able to pay their full balance monthly, should probably seek a low interest credit card. By using a low interest credit card, users of the card will save money by paying a decreased interest amount, over the time period that they carry a positive credit card balance. Saving of money using a low interest credit card makes that type of card important to people who intend to carry a monthly balance on their credit card.

There are other groups of people who don't really need a low interest credit card. These people pay their credit card bill in full every month. They primarily use a credit card for convenience and other card benefits, i.e. cash back, travel rewards, purchase discounts and so on. So,if it is a low interest credit card or high interest card it does not matter much to them.

The need for a low interest credit card is more necessary for people who intend to carry a monthly balance. Still those people should compare the various low interest credit cards to determine which card is the best to fulfill their financial needs.

There is a need to evaluate whether you need a low interest credit card or not. If you find that you do want or need a low interest credit card, make sure you choose the one that is right for you. Choosing the right credit card today, may save you a great deal of money on future card purchases and cash advances. <bio>Art Taylor has been a successful internet marketer for 10 years.
Student/college credit cards are credit cards specifically designed for young men and women attending college. Though student credit cards are also referred to as college credit cards, we will use the identifier, student credit card in this information release. Student credit card is the more popular term to describe credit cards for young men and women attending college. Student credit cards allow their users to understand the benefits of "real world" credit card usage prior to graduating college and taking on a full time occupation. Typically, for most college students, their student credit card is their first credit card and the door-opener to the world of credit card usage. Some students may have previously used supplementary credit cards, but those credit cards are linked to their father's or mother's credit card account. However, it is true for those college students too, that their student credit card is the first credit card they can truly call their own.

Student credit cards are essentially the same as other credit cards. They are used in the same way as other credit cards are. Some differences come into play for student credit card users, primarily because they have no prior experience using credit cards and more than likely don't understand credit cards, conceptually and completely. Therefore, credit card issuers are at risk when approving student credit cards for young individuals who have little or no credit or credit card usage history. The inexperience of the student credit card user, in managing their finances competently, puts the student credit card issuer at risk of receiving the monthly credit card bill payments on time and/or receiving the payments at all. To insure themselves from student credit card issuance risks, the issuer of student credit cards usually requires a parent of the student to co-sign the student credit card application form. Also, the credit limit assigned to student credit cards is lower than it is for credit cards issued to working adults. Still, the assigned credit limit is, most often, large enough to fulfill the college student's needs. Another method credit card issuers use to dissuade college students from overspending is to assign a higher interest rate to the student credit card.

If we are to look at those seeming, previously mentioned, impositions in a positive manner, we would find that the same impositions are actually advantageous to the student, who is still training to manage real world credit card usage. Most often those impositions will assist the student credit card user in establishing good credit history. Good credit history will be important to the student at a later date in his or her life, when they want to procure more credit cards or loans.

Student credit cards are a very significant way to establish good credit. They are financial tools which most college students should consider acquiring. <bio>Art Taylor has been a successful internet marketer for 10 years.
It is very easy to swipe a credit card and enjoy shopping, but initiation into credit cards is a tough process. The process to apply for credit cards begins by completing certain formalities after which one can get the credit card in his own name. The process of selection is incorporated into the credit card issuance methodology to eliminate non-serious users or the users who are not fit enough to hold a credit card. The process to apply for credit cards begins by finding out the credit worthiness.

By credit worthiness, it is meant whether one would be in a position to pay the bills outstanding on the credit card. In fact the process to apply for credit card is like an interview of the probable user. The higher the credit limit, more widely the chance of the credit card user to pay the outstanding with promptness. Therefore, the first hurdle that has to be cleared when one has applied for credit card is to be credit worthy. It is found out through the bank details that are fulfilled. If one is able to clear most of the outstanding bills within a month most of the times, then the probability of getting it after one has applied for credit card is the maximum.

If the potential subscriber has a history of default of any kind in the past, then even after you apply for credit card, it can be denied to him. Another important criteria being looked when you apply for credit card, is the credit capacity. This is calculated based on the income and the loan obligations you have and if the installment of the loans are paid on time, then your application gets a highest rating by the card issuing agency. If it is found after you apply for credit card, that he has the history of default in payment, then the credit card may not be issued at all.

Character is another major deciding criterion looked for by the card issuing agencies after you apply for credit card. The card issuing agency wants to know whether the day-to-day dealings of the individual are honest and straight-forward. This is found out after you apply for credit card, and then the issuing agency makes its decision in this regard by seeking reference from the known persons. The information is also obtained from the financial transactions, as also through payment receipts of utility bills.

At times references from employers are also sought after one has applied for the credit card. Therefore, the copy of the pay slip forms an important deciding document when you apply for credit card. Another criteria used, when you apply for credit card is the identity proof in the form of a social security number or the I-card issued by the employer. The social security number can provide all the details required that may decide whether the credit card can be issued or not. Life style is another criterion that is researched in detail before when you apply for credit card. This is done to find out whether the potential user is a heavy user of the consumable items, and if that being so, then he is issued the credit card at the first instance.

The physical assets an individual possess either movable or immovable also are deciding factors in issuance of the credit card, after you apply for credit card. The reason is that it reflects a certain pattern of life style that is followed by the individual. <bio>Devin Gilliland provides expert opinions and advice on how to apply and manage credit cards at http://www.credit-wisdom.com </bio>

A calling card is a very useful tool that lets you make local or international calls via either a stored value system, or a remote memory system. Prepaid calling cards are perhaps the most widely used phone cards around the world today, and you can find a telecommunications provider who offers you a phone card for any country specific coverage you want. A great idea that cuts out the hassle in making long distance or short distance calls from public phone booths, the ubiquitous calling card of today started out as a simple piece of technology similar to the ATM or a key card. Technology has progressed a great deal since then, and today's calling cards are embedded with secure, sophisticated systems.

Prepaid calling cards were first used in Europe in the mid seventies. These calling cards could only function as local phone cards, and used magnetic stripes to encode balance information that the card reader would read when inserted into the same. It would take another decade and half for calling cards to slowly gain popularity and find usage around the world. Incredibly, in contrast to that, phone cards prevail all over the world, in more than 185 countries today.

Over the years, there has been a lot of development in the stored value calling card technology, spanning from the earliest magnetic stripe readers to optical storage, to microchip technology. Chip card technology is the most recent development in the history of calling cards, which had been inducted over two decades ago, in the 1980s in France and Germany. Many countries took their lead and began implementing their calling card system, embedded with such microchip technology. Initial security concerns over simple systems that could easily be hacked have given way to sophisticated secure technology of today.

Calling cards have become somewhat of collectibles, given their variety of different regional and national influences when it came to card design. Featuring a wide range of subjects, calling cards transformed from a dull monochromatic affair of the 70s and 80s to veritable displays of pop art. Bright and colorful, these phone cards had a visual appeal that prompted users to keep them even after there balance value had been exhausted, and there are serious collectors around the world who take great pleasure in chronicling these calling cards right from their early beginnings.

While the earliest users of calling cards used public phone booths with card readers to make phone calls, modern day users can just about use a calling card from just about any telephone line, or even from a mobile phone. Today, depending upon your usage, you can select your choice telecom network for the most suitable calling rates. With a plethora of calling cards for users to choose from, worrying about call rates is something of the past. Indeed, users can use calling cards to budget their phone bills. Along with advancements in the telecommunications industry, telephone cards have moved along just as well, and today have become an indispensable part of our everyday lives.<bio>Smart-Phone-Cards.com offers calling cards, prepaid phone cards, international calling cards for Russia, India, China and other countries at affordable prices.</bio>

You need to decide whether you intend to clear off your dues at the end of the month or you want to pay only the minimum balance and then carry on with the rest. It is always better to do your homework, before you zero in on any particular card. <bio>Devin Gilliland provides expert opinions and advice about credit cards at http://www.credit-wisdom.com </bio>

Have you ever been faced with the worry that your son or daughter is off to college and you want to give them access to emergency cash without having to give them the actual cash -- which they'll likely spend beforehand -- but knowing by the time you wire the money to them the emergency may well be over? If so, you may well want to know what supplemental credit cardholders are!

In short, supplemental credit cardholders are persons who you authorize to use your credit card account. They are issued their own card, but the account is the same number as yours and any transactions they process on the card are charged to you. Collectively you all have the same credit card limit. As such, if your supplemental cardholder makes a purchase on the card, this reduces your access to that sum from your card limit -- until such time as you have made a payment.

As you can see then, supplemental credit card users are offered all of the privileges of being credit cardholders, but based on your financial status rather than theirs. They are, therefore, a good means of providing security to your spouse and children without the worry of their having to apply for a credit card in their own name -- which, in the case of your children, will almost certainly result in them having a lower spending limit anyhow.

Although a very useful and beneficial tool, a couple of issues you need to watch out for if you agree to supplemental credit cardholders on your account:

* you are liable for their spending! If they overspend, so do you! Also, you should request that provide you with any transaction receipts so that you can track any potential fraudulent use of the card.

* you may find that you are charged a fee for the privilege of having supplemental cardholders.

Finally, keep in mind that the policy of having supplemental cardholders is not limited to supplemental credit cardholders and it is possible to have supplemental cardholders for most major charge cards and store cards. <bio>Joe Kenny writes for the credit card comparison sites http://www.cardguide.co.uk and http://www.creditcards121.com </bio>

Having a debt and paying no interest on it seems almost too good to be true. But many consumers use their credit cards to do just that. The process is known as rate surfing or credit card jumping.

How Do I Start With Credit Card Jumping?

Many credit card companies offer preferential rates to new customers. These can take a variety of forms. Some credit cards offer long term low interest rates. Others offer a 0% rate on purchases for a fixed period, usually six months. Still others offer a 0% interest rate on balances transferred to the credit card. This last type of offer is the one that is of most interest to credit card jumpers.

All people need to do is apply for the credit card as usual. Most credit card forms, whether online or in print, have a section where applicants can write the card numbers of the cards they hold and the amounts they want to transfer. Balances can be transferred from other credit card and from store cards.

Some credit card companies also allow new applicants to transfer loan amounts by using credit card cheques. It is worth checking that such cheques also enjoy the 0% balance transfer rate. Credit card cheques are often treated as cash withdrawals and can attract a higher interest rate.

How Does Credit Card Jumping Work?

The key to successful credit card jumping is to move the outstanding balance to another credit card with a 0% rate just before the interest free period expires. This means:

- Finding a new credit card with a 0%i balance transfer rate (maybe by looking on the internet) - Applying for the new card at least a month before you want to transfer the balance - Transferring the money from the old card at least a week before the interest is due to be applied.

This is not a difficult strategy for anyone who is well organised. To avoid hurting their credit rating, which could lead to refusal for other cards, it is essential for card users to make at least the minimum payment each month. The payment should also be made on time.

Do Credit Card Companies Make Money From Jumpers?

They don't - or at least they didn't. Credit card jumping has cost credit card companies hundreds of thousands of pounds each year. That's why credit card companies have come up with a new way to make money from credit card jumpers. It's called the balance transfer fee. The balance transfer fee is a fee of around 2% that is applied to balance transfers. This means that credit card companies get their money up front.

This is not good news for credit card jumpers, though credit card jumping may still be worthwhile if the current interest being paid on the debt is high. Although many credit card companies apply a balance transfer fee, not all do, so it is worth shopping around. There could still be time to do some credit card jumping. <bio>Joe Kenny writes for the UK personal finance sites http://www.ukpersonalloanstore.co.uk and also http://www.cardguide.co.uk </bio>
