If you are visiting Amsterdam, you will not be able to miss the canals. As part of the day to day function of those that live here, the canals are a much needed and enjoyable way to get around. And, some of the best hotels within the city of Amsterdam are situated right on these canals. Some of the very best, even five star hotels are those that allow you to gaze out over the canal in a breathtaking view of the water and the life that is Amsterdam. If you want to stay within the inner city, these are the hotels to take into consideration.

Some of them feature all of the latest needs such as work out rooms, conference facilities and internet access. Yet, they somehow still off that majestic feel and amazing view. Some are old world like in style while others are much more stylish and modern. You can determine which is more appropriate for your specific stay. One thing to take note of is that many of the hotels within this area do not feel so much like hotels but rather of a residential area. You will feel as if you are at home, rather than away on a business trip or in a boring hotel. Some of these hotels are also located ideally in the middle of all that Amsterdam has to offer. You are sure to find them located within walking distance of major attractions and motorways. You should find them located easily from your favorite parks and even the Amsterdam airport a well.

Amsterdam has many hotels that offer a wide range of choice located right in the heart of the city. With a flare of old world stay or of the most modern amenities, Amsterdam hotels are ideal for just about every type of trip business or pleasure. <bio>http://www.amsterdam-hotels-information.info </bio>

A city steeped in cultural traditions that date back to its early beginnings as a fishing village, Amsterdam offers wonderful canal cruises. Quite possibly Amsterdam's most compelling attraction, the canals provide an easy way to see most of the city in a couple of hours.

Several different boat companies provide tours that often come with a multi-lingual guide. Most boats are equipped to seat approximately 40 passengers. Amsterdam City Tours features several themed canal cruises that are explored here.

What an enchanted, romantic evening you can have on the 2 hour-long Candlelight Cruise that gently glides you through the illuminated canals of Amsterdam. As you enjoy the sights of the city from your glass-enclosed seating arrangement, indulge in a bit of red or white wine and a savory taste of cheese. As your multi-lingual host points out many of the city's finer points, your memories of this journey will be forged forever in your mind. This canal cruise is offered daily starting at the Central Station directly across from the Victoria Hotel.

What could be better than a delicious meal set with the background of scenery that just seems to float away? The Traditional Dinner Cruise is one of the most popular cruises, offering 2.5 hours of enjoyment as you glide along Amsterdam's delightful waterways. If you can pull your eyes away from the gorgeous scenery, a 4-course gourmet dinner is served right in the comfort of your glass-enclosed seating arrangement aboard the motor launch. Included with the meal is a fine selection of red or white wine, beer, coffee, soft drinks, and an after-dinner liqueur. This canal cruise is offered daily starting at the Central Station directly across from the Victoria Hotel.

Offered only on Saturdays, the Canal Pizza Cruise takes you on a 1.5-hour journey that includes freshly baked Domino's pizza and assorted beverages. Order your pizza as you board the boat. This nighttime canal cruise starts at the landing stage for canal buses across from the Rijksmuseum.

The Blue Boat brunch cruise, where a luxurious party vessel is ready to take you on a 2-hour cruise through beautiful Amsterdam while you enjoy a tasty brunch menu is also a very nice way to spend your Sunday afternoon.

If you are looking for something that provides an opportunity for you to explore more of Amsterdam than the canals, you should consider the 2-Day Canal Bus Hop On Hop Off Service. It includes 14 exciting stops with 3 different routes: green line, red line, and blue line. Plus, this bargain is offered daily. What better way to get to major attractions, museums, and shopping areas than from the comfort of a canal bus?

Recently added canal travelers of the canals of Amsterdam are the Canal Hoppers. Friendly to the environment, the electric boats can be hired for private outings. Unfortunately, these boats can only accommodate a maximum of 12 persons.

Luxurious saloon steamers also offer an opportunity for a delightful getaway. In fact, their lavish style makes them the perfect spot to give a marriage proposal, have an intimate wedding ceremony, or conduct business. Lunches are available most days and dinners are served on warm, summer evenings.

This is just a mere sampling of what the canals of Amsterdam have to offer its guests. As you can see, the variety is sufficient enough to merit more than one journey along the fascinating Amsterdam canals. <bio>Bernie Jong is an experienced guide and writer for http://AmsterdamCityTours.com a tour operator in Amsterdam that offers a wide variety of canal cruises in Amsterdam.Visit http://www.amsterdamcitytours.com/ for all your canal cruises. </bio>

Thinking about planning a vacation for the Netherlands? Why not opt for Amsterdam? Prior to flying there, you want to learn some basic facts about the city. Provided below are some facts for those who are thinking about or planning to vacation in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam is an instantly likable and compact European city. Many who have vacationed in Amsterdam have reported that the city is not only appealing to look at but that Amsterdam is also enjoyable to walk around with its dreamy canals and cozy cafes. Amsterdam is where international and parochial behaviors join. It is where attitudes towards visitors are welcoming. This attitude has resulted from embracing liberal counterculture during the past four decades.

Most people in Amsterdam can speak fluent English. Some speak German and French but if you are an English speaker it is recommended that you speak in English rather than French or German.

The layout of Amsterdam includes a web of canals that radiate from a historical core and loops around to the center. Many Amsterdam vacation resources note that these extensions of the seventeenth century make for an elegant and distinctive urban environment. Some Amsterdam vacationers deem the city as one most charming because it is far away from the noise and traffic of many other city centers in Europe. These facts make Amsterdam a popular vacation destination in Europe.

Amsterdam is known throughout the world to be tolerant towards various styles of dress and behavior. An interesting fact that you should also be aware of before vacationing in Amsterdam is that it is also widely known as a place where the sale and possession of cannabis are decriminalized. For the most part, however, the citizens of Amsterdam can't be bothered with it.

The above information should be helpful in giving you some insight as to what Amsterdam is like. But if you are planning to vacation in Amsterdam, it is suggested that you do further research and learn even more about the fabulous city of Amsterdam. <bio>Abby Johnson is a staff writer at http://www.visitworldcities.com and is an occasional contributor to several other websites including, http://www.lifestylegazette.com. </bio>

If you've been considering an electric toothbrush, you've probably looked at various brands for the Sonicare Elite Toothbrush sometimes referred to as the Sonic Tooth Brush or Sonic Care Tooth Brush. Yet, the price can be a turnoff.

As someone who has had a history of cavities, root canals and periodontal disease, it has been very helpful in controlling my dental problems. However if you have a good family history of dental checkups it may not be a necessity. I am relieved that my checkups are much shorter since using the sonic tooth brush and I find that the build up of plaque is less. It will not replace flossing and I have found using the original dental tape by Glide helpful as it is thicker than some of the thinner floss on the market now.

The Sonicare Elite is a new kid on the block and it isn't always easy to know the difference between the various models such as the 7300. 7500 and 7800 toothbrushes. The 7800 allows you to change the pre-programmed 2 minute brushing time to 2 1/2 minutes which may be useful for some. It also comes with a wall mount kit. In addition there is a dual speed control . The 7500 doesn't have the timer change option and the 7300 does not have the above features but is a fine toothbrush.

Because I travel frequently I am pleased that the battery lasts longer than original model because I don't like to travel with a charger. I find it will last around two weeks. I also like that there is a slimmer head and that the angled brush enables me to get comfortably to the back teeth. Most people neglect the molar areas but this is where many have problems with pockets due to inadequate cleaning techniques. It is also important to replace the head every six months and I find that after six months the cleanings are not as good if you do not.

My only criticism is that if you don't unscrew and clean out the brush of the sonic tooth brush it will get dirty on the inside. In terms of bacteria I think that is important to do and it does not seem as watertight as it could be. However, this inconvenience far outweights the benefits as I've always dreaded my dental cleanings and if I can prevent future root canals or cavities it is a great financial savings. <bio>Dee Cohen is a website owner and publisher at http://www.nk163.com .Stop by to learn more about The Sonic Toothbrush and electric toothbrushes. </bio>

With the advent of the World Wide Web, it's easier than ever to do research into those vacation spots that you've longed to visit. With the cost of travel these days, it's important that you do as much research as possible so that you can pack as much into your vacation as possible.

However, even though you want to experience as much as possible on your vacation, one of the major mistakes that the vacationer makes is to try to do too much. You end up returning home needing a vacation from your vacation!

The best thing to do is make plans to visit one or at most two tourists spots each day. Have a backup site you'd like to visit in case something happens to one of your first two choices.

Well, what's to see in Italy?

That all depends on your interests. There is indeed something for everyone.

All roads lead to Rome, as the saying goes, so let your feet take you in that direction. There are so many museums, churches, art galleries, and other places of interest there that you could spend your entire vacation in the capital city of Italy quite easily.

The Colosseum, located in the center of Rome, is over 2000 years old. Pictures in books do not do this ruined edifice justice, it must be seen to be believed. During its heyday it could seat 50,000 people, gathered together to watch the famous 'circuses' of gladiatorial combat. Nearby is the Forum, where Julius Caesar was killed by his Senators on the Ides of March.

After Rome its on to Naples. Well, Naples is just the starting point to get to Pompeii, and nearby Herculaneum. These are the cities buried under the ash of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the 1st century AD, and forgotten about for 1600 years. Excavations began in the 1700s and are still going on today. You'll travel first to Naples, and from there go on to these famous cities frozen in time.

It's possible to make a daytrip from Rome to Pompeii, so don't miss out.

All Roads Lead To Rome, And Away From Rome

Where to go from Rome? Well, you could go north east, up to Venice. Venice, the city of canals. Indeed, Venice is surrounded by water - the best way to get there is by boat or train. This unique city is located on the southern coast of Italy, with far above it the country of Austria and to the west, Slovakia. Known as the city of canals, it's also the city of bridges. Venice actually covers 117 small islands, with 409 bridges traversing 150 canals. You have never seen any city like it.

If you don't want to go north you can go south, to Tuscany.

Are you a wine enthusiast? Or an oenologist, to put it technically. (That's pronounced een-ol-o-gist, by the way.) If you are, you'll want to visit the region of Tuscany, famous for its winemaking. There are fourteen andquot;wine roadsandquot; throughout the region. Each road identifies the type of grape grown in that area, and has signs pointing to the various vineyards and other businesses open to the touring public. You might want to start your tour in the city of Florence, as you'll be able to get in a little culture as well, by visiting the famous Uffizi Gallery.

The island of Elba, famous for its wine, is also a renowned tourist resort. And it's the place where Napolean Bonaparte was first imprisoned (before escaping, regathering his army, losing at Waterloo, and ending up at St. Helena.) You can visit the two villas that Napolean occupied there. <bio>Alastair Hamilton loves writing for http://www.bikecyclingreviews.com .
Scottsdale residential real estate allows people to live in the lap of luxury. Located in Maricopa County Arizona, Scottsdale is renowned as a luxury resort town. But, the desert heaven of Scottsdale wasn't always this way.

It is believed that the Hohokam and Anasazi Indians moved into the area around 300 BC. They were an agricultural people, and the deserts which are now known as Scottsdale was not particularly plentiful with water.

Together, these tribes built approximately 125 miles (200 kilometers) of canals. The Hohokam and Anasazi effectively watered the entire area with these canals, turning the desert into an area with rich soil for farming. Now, the area is lush with greenery, turning Scottsdale into a desert oasis.

Scottsdale residential real estate residents enjoy not only the lush greenery that the canals produce, but also the lifestyle that living on a body of water creates. The Hohokam Indians suddenly vanished around 1400 AD, adding mystery to Scottsdale's past.

Today, getting around Scottsdale has become easier with the highway of Route 17, Route 51, the 101 Loop and the 202 Loop. With all roads having three (3) or four (4) lanes, getting downtown from Scottsdale residential real estate can take ten minutes, depending on the time of day. Between four o'clock and six o'clock, expect getting around the Scottsdale residential real estate area to easily take at least forty-five minutes.

Scottsdale, Arizona is essentially divided into four (4) areas: Old Town (South Scottsdale); Downtown (Civic Center/ Fashion Square); Central Scottsdale; and North Scottsdale. Old Town (South Scottsdale) was once known as the "poor" side of town, with many soup-kitchens and a median resale home value around $100,000.00 USD. This has recently changed and many old buildings are being replaced with safer, more aesthetic architecture. The median resale home price in Old Town has recently skyrocketed to around $200,000.00 USD.

Downtown Scottsdale residential real estate is seeing a recent up-rise in luxury condos. Downtown is known to be a more eclectic and cultural area, and the streets are often filled with foot traffic after dark as residents enjoy the Downtown night life.

Central Scottsdale has a long history of Scottsdale residential real estate luxury. Movies and television shows such as Beverly Hills 90210 and Clueless have shot scenes in this area, with large, luxury mansions as the backdrops.

North Scottsdale is where the majority of new Scottsdale residential real estate is being built. As the city expands northward, new residents are enjoying the beautiful mountain views in the area. The median new home price in North Scottsdale is approximately $750,000.00 USD, with many home prices in the millions.

Because each area of Scottsdale, Arizona has its own unique style, Scottsdale residential real estate has something for anybody who is looking to live in the lap of luxury. As the area is seeing a lot of growth, new jobs are constantly being created in the area. At this rate of growth, Scottsdale may soon rival Phoenix in population and businesses. However, Scottsdale residential real estate is determined not only to maintain luxury, but improve upon it, meaning housing prices have nowhere to go but up! <bio>For more free information about buying, selling, and investing in the greater Phoenix, Arizona real estate market visit the Phoenix Real Estate Talk! web site at http://www.phoenixrealestatetalk.com.
There are not many cities that have experienced such social and political extremes in recent history as Amsterdam. In the 20th century alone, Amsterdam faced the atrocities of war for the first time in 400 years, became the radical center of 1960s social movements and witnessed a complete about-face in its core economy. Amsterdam's progressive, multicultural, conscientious and contentious attitude wipes out images of a more docile past and ranks this capital city among the top 5 for European travel destinations.

Precariously positioned on the banks of both the IJ Bay and the Amstel River headwaters, Amsterdam made an early mark on the world with its dominant seafaring fleet and colonial aspirations in the 17th and 18th centuries. Amsterdam's economy turned inward once England emerged as the seafaring superpower. Consequently, most of the enchantingly crooked mansions and townhouses alone the canals are now inhabited by eclectic stores, businesses and engaging galleries and the majority of Amsterdammers live outside of the canal belt.

Museums, Music and a Barrage of Culture

To gain a better understanding of how such a metropolitan city emerged from bogs, swamps and floodplains, visit the Amsterdams Historisch Museum. Extensive documentation covering centuries of growth spans the walls of the exhibits and a detailed segment is dedicated to modern day issues, conflicts and controversies surrounding Amsterdam's path to becoming a free and tolerant society. Then, explore Amsterdam's historic relationship with water aboard the Nederlands Scheepvaart Museum, a dry-docked ship from the East India Company. For a more refined jaunt into the past, a trip to the colossal Rijksmuseum will indulge the senses with fine art from Dutch masters throughout history.

As evening approaches, leave your museum voice behind and dive dancing and drinking into Amsterdam's edgy and rowdy nightlife. The pubs and coffee shops that line the canals are a vibrant mix of locals and visitors, and the perfect place to begin your evening. Enjoy an extensive array of domestic ale or have a taste of the unique Dutch gin. Musically, Amsterdam has something for everyone. Visit Mulligans Pub for authentic Irish entertainment, kick back to some jazz in Dylan's stylish lobby bar or go electro at the famed mega-club, Ministry.

For a moment of contemplation or a summer picnic, Amsterdam offers some of the best urban park spaces among European cities. Bikes are available for rental to take in the scenery at a faster pace, just beware of the tram tracks that crisscross most roadways and footpaths.

Of European cities, Amsterdam is most likely to surprise, excite and intrigue its visitors in a most unexpected fashion. Travel to Amsterdam to enjoy the perfect balance of open spaces, a lively urban pulse and a gracefully multiethnic ambiance. <bio>For more information, visit http://www.cfares.com </bio>

It's not hard to understand why Thailand has become such a hot name when tourism is the topic of discussion. After all, Thailand is very rich in terms of its culture as manifested by its various museums and temples. At the same time, Thailand has a lot to brag about with its natural resources. These are two large factors which bring tourists from all over the world into Thailand.

1.) Bangkok's Canals

Bangkok, Thailand is known for its open canals. This is used for various open water activities, and you can find floating houses here, which will certainly make you wonder how do these houses remain floating? At the same time, you can also shop in Thailand's open canals, indeed a very bright and original way to do your shopping.

2.) Tarutao Marine National Park

Thailand makes an effort to preserve its wildlife resources and its animal and plant species. While being ardent in protecting them, you can enjoy and relish their company through the Tarutao Marine National Park. You must not forget to visit here while you're in Thailand.

3.) Temple of Wat Arun in Bangkok, Thailand

There are 400 Buddhist temples in Bangkok, Thailand, but Wat Arun is one of those temples which are most notable. This is because of its modern architectural design, and at the same time, its unique distinction from others. A portion of the temple contains images of Buddha's life.

4.) Statue of Buddha in Ko Samui, Thailand

In the Island of Ko Samui, Thailand lays a world-famous statue of Buddha. This statue stands 12 m or 29 feet tall and is most notable for the bright colors with which it is portrayed. You must visit this religious place situated in an island not far from Thailand's capital.

5.) Grand Palace, Bangkok

A world famous site is the Grand Palace, Bangkok. The Grand Palace is a complex of royal buildings where royalty in Thailand lives; however, only one complex, the Wat Phra Kaeo, is open to tourists. The Grand Palace is a place you must visit in Thailand.

6.) Thai Boxing

As the people in Thai call the sport, "Muay Thai," it is something you definitely should not miss =96 whether by actual experience or by watching. Thai boxing is actually a very historic sport throughout the history of Thailand, even having royal and religious roots. Thai boxing in Thailand can never be the same as in other places.

7.) Thailand's Theater and Arts

There are a variety of unique theater experiences you can have in Thailand. Two such examples are Khon and Nang Yai. Khon is a dramatization of Thailand's myths and ancient tales, while Nang Yai, on the other hand, is portrayed through puppets of shadows.

8.) Suan Pakkad Palace

The palace is the perfect place for you to go if you want to have a look at traditional houses in Thailand. Also, in Suan Pakkad Palace, there are art collections which you might want to go to. This is a tourist destination that will suit an art lover's taste.

9.) Vimameck Mansion

This mansion-turned-museum is graced for being the largest teakwood mansion in the world. What Thailand did was to turn Vimameck Mansion into a museum as well. Because of this, you not only get to see the mansion but you also get to see artifacts exhibited in the museum.

10.) National Museum in Bangkok

A visit to Bangkok shall not be complete without going to the National Museum. Chronicled in the National Museum is practically the history of Bangkok presented through artifacts from before up to the modern pieces of contemporary art. You will surely get to have the feel of Thailand through the National Museum. <bio>Jonathan Williams is the travel writer for Destination Guide TV - the place to share travel videos.
Probably you have heard about the Amsterdam Red-Light District as this is a very famous section in the Netherlands. Much to your surprise, what you may have heard is true! Here are some facts about the Amsterdam Red-Light District, a place unlike any place else.

The famous Amsterdam Red-Light District covers a large area in the oldest part of the city. It has been servicing the personal needs and desires of locals and visitors for five centuries, and thanks to the old buildings leaning at odd angles overlooking the tree-enshrouded canals that a certain charm tempts you to linger longer in the area. In this district, music of every genre can be heard along the streets from a dozen or more places late at night. And, it is the classier restaurants, redone streets, and revamped facades that transform what once dark and dingy into one of the most attractive parts of town -- the Amsterdam Red-Light District.

Prostitution in the District

Did you know that prostitution is legal in the Netherlands? Yes, it is! It is most concentrated in the Amsterdam Red-Light District where it has enjoyed a long tradition of tolerance. It has been reported that since October 2000, window prostitutes have been allowed to legally ply their trade. Much to your surprise, the prostitutes in the Netherlands are also taxpayers. However, discrimination is still very much part and parcel in this kind of trade as a number of the prostitutes reported that some banks even refuse to grant mortgages for instance.

Now, as a legal profession, the government ensures that all prostitutes are able to access medical care and work in better conditions by way of regulating and monitoring working practices and standards. Also, it is worth noting that contrary to the popular belief, the Amsterdam Red-Light District is actually the safest area in the city as clusters of policemen and private bodyguards employed by the girls themselves are always on duty.

The Chinatown

The Amsterdam Red-Light District is one of the few places on earthy where you can authentic and really tasty Chinese food. The restaurants in this district are easy to find as cooked Duck is typically hung in the front window. However, Chinatown in itself is misleading as there are also dozens of Malaysian, Indonesian and Thai restaurants and cafés scattered along the beautiful canals. Besides the restaurants, there are other Chinese businesses in the Amsterdam Red-Light District, including a well stocked supermarket across from the Waag, near the Nieuwemarkt.

The Red-Light District Today

Amsterdam now prides itself on its wholly liberal and tolerant attitude. The city embraces, with the Amsterdam Red-Light District, embraces the fact that people may be into prostitution, pornography and soft drugs. So, instead of criminalizing everything, Amsterdam wears its heart on its sleeve. What you see is generally what you get. So, how do you get to it? The answer basically lies on which Amsterdam Red-Light District you are looking for. There are actually three Red-Light Districts in the city: the main area is in the Walletjes area, the Singel, and de Pijp. <bio>Burt Cotton http://www.visit-amsterdam.org </bio>

There may be not be a more romantic city than Venice for a short break holiday but take care - this major world tourist destination is slowly sinking into the sea.

Venice floats in the Adriatic Sea, anchored in a huge lagoon off Italy's northeast coast. It is one of the world's most romantic tourist break destinations. In Venice all the main streets are canals and all the buses and taxis are boats.

More than 20 million tourists from all over the world descend on Venice each year to sail its waterways, wander across its imposing squares, visit the elegant palaces, wonder at its amazing art masterpieces, dine out in its world-class restaurants, and stay in its historic hotels. Venice is one of the world's greatest treasures.

But Venice has a big problem. The city is slowly sinking into the sea that surrounds it. And unless more is done to save it there won't be Venice left for future generations to visit. Venice is a city is built on 118 small islands that are linked by more than 400 bridges. Many of its historic buildings are mounted on ancient wooden piles, driven deep into the silty sea bed.

Bur passing boats churn up the mud and damage the wooden foundations, salt water seeps into the ancient brick work, air pollution from mainland factories damage older buildings, and even pigeons are a major nuisance as thousands of birds leave tons of acidic droppings to eat away at the ancient stonework.

But the greatest threat to Venice is flooding. Not only is the city slowly sinking into the mud, the sea levels are also rising, thanks to global warming. Since the 1930s city authorities have pumped out water from the lagoon to supply factories, causing the city to sink about one-fifth an inch each year.

St. Mark's Square is the city's lowest point and today high tides flood it about 90 times a year. Temporary walkways are slung over the paving slabs and cafe owners must move their tables to higher floors.

In 1966 a freak high tide sent water levels six feet above normal, flooding much of Venice. Power blackouts followed and thousands of drowned rats were seen floating in the canals. The flood caused major damage to the city's valuable paintings, statues and other treasures.

Now the Italian government and the European parliament has taken on the battle to save Venice. They are funding a multi billion euro plan to save the city. It is dubbed MOSE, after Moses, the biblical figure that parted the Red Sea.

The MOSE scheme has 79 giant hollow steel panels, each weighing 300 tons, strung across the lagoon. They will swing up on giant hinges to form a protective barrier during high tides. Engineers say entire city can be protected in just 30 minutes. The massive construction project, due to be completed in 2012, is expected to cost 7 billion euros.

Critics claim the rise of sea levels from global warming could make MOSE obsolete in less than 50 years. Other warn of an environmental catastrophe. Venetians flush human and animal waste into the canals and let the high tides flush the filthy water out to sea. MOSE could turn Venice into a giant septic tank.

There is only one thing they can all agree on. If something isn't done, and soon, Venice's days are numbered. Everyone is certain that the city must be saved, not just for Venice and not just for Italy, but for the world. After all, Venice is a world treasure.<bio>Andrea Delucia is a city travel guide writer for TravelSavvy Venice one of the TravelSavvy city break sites for Europe including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Monaco, Nice, Riga, Seville, Venice</bio>

Hudson, Florida bills itself as the place where 'the nature coast meets the sun coast', and it's a fitting description. Located at the very northern tip of the Tampa Bay metropolitan area, you can head north from Hudson into Florida's Nature Coast and follow the many hiking trails along the shore and inland, or head south through the Sun Coast cities of Port Richey, Tarpon Springs and Palm Harbor. Or -- you can stay right in Hudson and enjoy the best of everything that Florida's Gulf Coast has to offer. And when we say everything, we mean everything.

Named one of the Top 3 areas for vacation homes by the Wall Street Journal, Hudson has a split personality -- a three way split. The unincorporated city has three separate and very distinct areas. To the west of US 19 along the coast, you'll find one of the most delightful old coastal towns ever created. In the 1950s, a group of businessmen decided to increase the property value of their town with a unique idea -- waterfront property for everyone. Thus began a system of canals dredged inland from the Gulf Coast. The old coastal neighborhood features homes built on the canal and the belief that every man should be able to park his car in the driveway, walk through the house and out the back door to his boat. Today, the original homes built on the canals, many of them single and doublewide mobiles, rub shoulders with brand new homes built on stilts with luxury amenities.

East of US 19 are the beautiful homes and subdivisions of a comfortable, prosperous suburban town. This central area of Hudson features spacious homes, curving streets and cul de sacs, and manicured greens and golf clubs. With names like Beacon Woods, Brentwood Estates and Fairway Oaks, the carefully planned neighborhoods are a haven away from the bustle of the big city, where families and retirees can enjoy a life of leisure in the sun.

To the east and north of the subdivisions you'll find the old southern neighborhood, which still bears all the hallmarks of rural living. Sparsely populated, development has yet to reach this area of Hudson, but you'll find farms, ranches and wild wetlands far from the beaten path here.

So what does it cost to live in one of the top three locales for a vacation home in the country (top ten in the world)? It's amazingly affordable, with some older single family homes still selling for under $100,000. The average home selling price is inching up, with luxury homes in the more desirable subdivisions averaging about $350,000. If you're intrigued by the idea of living on your own dock with a canal in your backyard, Hudson is definitely worth a look. <bio>Bob Lipply with Lipply Real Estate works the entire Tampa Bay area.
Conventional dental and dentists' practice help many people enjoy excellent dental and oral function for years. Conventional dentistry's stature throws dentists practicing alternative dentistry methods into obscurity. Lina Garcia, DMD, a so-called environmental dentist clears up several issues regarding the untraditional means that they practice. She also exposes several ways how conventional dentistry procedures harm patients and the environment.

Environmental dentistry does not differ widely from conventional practices. But they do uphold a principle: the mouth as an integrated member of a person's body and must be treated using this perspective. The primary objective of environmental dental and dentists' practice is to treat dental and oral problems without causing harm and adverse effects on the body. Environmental dentists claim that conventional dental procedures often use methods that are harmful to the body over time.

Environmental dentistry's recent findings indicate that some of the most basic services of conventional dentists are hazardous for the patients and their environment. Garcia identifies these problems as the common and basic services patients often ask from their dentists. Amalgam fillings, root canals, cavitations, implants, surgery, and the use of stainless steel in the oral cavity are cited in a report by Garcia. According to her, amalgam fillings are still 50% mercury which make them dangerous and toxic when ingested. Root canals also cause more mouth problems because they encourage the growth of bacteria; it is also the same with cavitations. Environmental dentistry also abhors the use of implants without bio-compatibility testing. They claim that it aggravates the immuno-defense system and often start allergies and negative reactions. They also cite the results of studies that indicate that use of stainless steel in any open body part is a cause of cancer.

The critiques from environmental dentistry are many but the conventional dentistry explains these as nuisance. Conventional dentists assert that the mercury in amalgam filling is converted to a non-toxic substance once it reacts with the oral fluids and bacteria. They also cite lack of evidence and proof to support the environmental practice's claim on the relation of dental care to other major diseases like heart disease and cancer. Conventional dental and dentists' service providers encourage patients to consult only dentists who advocate scientific treatment. What they termed andquot;holisticandquot; practices such as environmental dentistry, are often unsafe and poses serious health risks.

Both camps have their cards on the table. I think that it is up to you, as patients to decide in which practice you feel comfortable with: a andquot;holisticandquot; environmental practice or scientific and clinical dentistry? I strongly advise research and making informed choices when it comes to health matters. <bio>For more valuable information on Dental and Dentists, please visit http://www.dental-health-group.com </bio>

It is the greatest provider of drinking water for south Florida, averaging 13-19 feet in depth.

Lake Okeechobee is renowned internationally for its fishing for bass and other species. It is located northeast of Naples, less than 2 hours away, and is heavily ringed with tackle shops, marinas, motels, restaurants, etc. You can find rental boats, gears and lodging to make your bass fishing trip more convenient and comfortable.

Lake Okeechobee also means 'big water' to the Seminole Indians, it is the second largest freshwater lake in the United States after Lake Michigan and its fishing reputation matches its size. Much of the lake's 730 square miles or 450,000 acres are hidden from view by dyke, levee, or trees which screen the shore.

Lake Okeechobee has a 150 mile circumference and its invisible opposite shore is more than 30 miles away. The best fishing and more than half of the action, takes place along the lake's western shore where Calhoun's Guide Service is based.

Lake Okeechobee comprises a 730 square-mile area in Glades, Okeechobee, Martin, Palm Beach, and Hendry Counties its average depth is 9 feet with a maximum depth of 17 feet. Historically, hydro pattern flowed southward over millions of acres.

Lake Okeechobee offers all types of waterway structures to fish - from open water to narrow canals surrounded by hundreds of different vegetations and grasses.

Lake Okeechobee is located in central southern Florida, north of the Everglades and south of Orlando. For many years, Lake Okeechobee has produced the best largemouth bass, blue gill and speck fishing in the world.

Hoover Dike was constructed along the southern regions of Lake Okeechobee to prevent flooding while also yielding year-round crop production. Tory mucks of the region contain 50 per cent or more mineral matter by weight and have considerably more native fertility than saw grass mucks, which were formed under logographic conditions. The 1950s was a period of technological ambition and construction, a system of canals, dikes, and pumping stations were installed to distribute water to the Everglades Agricultural Areas from Lake Okeechobee

Lake Okeechobee provides trips and tours all conducted by highly trained and efficient guides.
Tortuguero National Park is the entrance way to one of the most ecological diverse displays of flora and fauna in Costa Rica boasting a waterway of famed beauty. It is also the most important area in the western Caribbean for turtle preservation, as it is here where the Green Turtle (Chelonia Mydas) and others come to lay their eggs. Protecting marine turtles was a principal reason for the creation of the park, for its black-sand beaches are also nesting grounds for the gigantic Leatherback Turtle (Dermochelys Coriacea), the attractive Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys Imbricata) and the brown-colored Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta Caretta).

Located in Costa Rica's northern Caribbean region, just 80 kilometers north of the city of Limón, this protected wildlife area was created in 1975. The park is comprised of a network of natural and navigable canals and lagoons of grand beauty that cross the park in a Southeast to Northeast direction. They are home to species such as Manatees (Trichechus Manatus) and Crocodiles (Crocodylus acutus); fish oddities like the Tropical Gar (Atractosteus Tropicus), which is considered a living fossil; and amazing birds like the Great Blue Heron (Ardea Herodias), the largest of its kind found in the country, and the Northern Jacana (Jacana Spinosa), famous in the animal kingdom for it is the female that defends her family's territory while the male takes care of their hatchlings.

The park encompasses itself covers an extension of 26,156 hectares of solid ground and approximately 50,160 hectares of marine territory. It presents a vast diversity of ecosystems, among which the most noted are swamp and marsh lands leading to extremely humid forest habitats that house an abundance of tree life of great ecological value. Standouts include Crabwoods (Carapa Guianensis); Banaks (Virola), which are recognized for their golden fruit; and the illustrious Swamp Palms (Raphia Taedigera), whose leaves can reach up to 15 meters in length and can be found lining the canals and tinting their waters black due to the plant's high tannin content.

In general, the park's rich species content can be appreciated in the more than 400 kinds of trees, around 2,200 varieties of plants and 405 types of birds, the latter amounting to half of all existing bird species of Costa Rica and more than can be found in all of Europe. This vast diversity is present in the amphibian, reptilian, fish and insect populations of the region.

Tortuguero also presents a vast cultural richness. Its Caribbean location makes it one of the main centers of the Afro-Caribbean culture in our country. A large portion of the local population is of Jamaican descent and conserves the traditions, food and many religious believes of their ancestors. Their dishes are spicy, with coconut serving as a base ingredient in most recipes. One of the most popular is the 'Rondon', a tasty fish and vegetable stew made with fresh coconut milk. There is no lack of restaurants and small eateries in the town of Tortuguero, which also features traditional Costa Rican food.

Getting to Tortuguero: NatureAir's scenic half -hour flight is a great way to soak in incredible views, including spectacular sightings of turtles in the ocean. Tortuguero's airstrip is closed temporarily due to improvements being made, and in the meantime the alternate airstrip of Barra del Colorado is being used. The route by ground is also very scenic and a great adventure by land and sea, or land and river. The wildlife along the way is abundant and definitely a worthwhile part of the experience.

Lodging: A number of hotels surround the canals and offer packages that include transportation from San José, lodging, food and the entrance fee to the park, plus a guided tour of the canals. The wonderful Manatus Lodge offers an elegant experience with delicious cuisine. The tour to watch marine turtles in action during nesting season (June to October) is amazing and often offered separately. An additional hiking tour up the Cerro Tortuguero is also available, featuring a spectacular view of the canals and adjacent flat lands.

Several local restaurants and a quaint marine turtle museum are found in the town of Tortuguero itself. The cost of visiting the museum is by donation, with the goal of supporting the investigations of the Caribbean Conservation Corporation, which studies the reptiles of Tortuguero. The turtle tours are limited and done very carefully at night with special lights in small groups as to not disturb the nesting patterns of these magnificent creatures.

The nature and culture of Tortuguero is a wonderful opportunity to experience one of Costa Rica's most important areas for turtles, as well as overall natural diversity while at the same time enjoying the rich Afro-Caribbean influences present there. No matter if you are a first time visitor to Costa Rica or returning, it is an important and exciting destination.<bio>Lisa Khajavi is a Costa Rica Travel Designer and member of Nature Vacations Costa Rica Nature Vacations is the premier travel agency of NatureAir.com, the first carbon neutral airline in the world.
The beach experience isn't always just about sun and sand. One of the most enjoyable parts of any time spent at the beach is checking out everything and everyone around you. At most beaches, that means skimpy bikinis and the odd kite-flying youngster. At Venice Beach in Los Angeles, it's a different story entirely. On any given day, juggling street performers delight the crowd, caricaturists draw unflattering works of art, and straining weightlifters glisten in the heat. All of this makes Venice unlike any other beach in the world, certain to thrill every visitor.

"Venice of America" was created as a beach resort in 1905. The initial grounds came complete with an aquarium, bathhouses, and an amusement park. Developers dug several canals to drain marshes, establishing the parallel with the Italian city of the same name. Few of the original canals remain, but the houses running alongside them have been renovated and restored to their original grandeur.

From its initial development until the 1950's, the Los Angeles municipal government maintained a hands-off policy towards Venice Beach. As infrastructure crumbled in the latter half of the 20th century, the city stepped in and ordered the demolition of over 550 buildings. This rebirth infused Venice with a new energy, and as the 1960's opened, characters from across the board began pouring in. In many ways, Venice Beach was the Haight-Ashbury of southern California. The liberal, free environment gave rise to acts like The Doors.

This atmosphere still prevails today, with the population of Venice a veritable melting pot of different races, cultures, and attitudes. All of these people come together to make Venice one of the funkiest spots in America.

While the three mile long beach is available for swimming, that's not what most people envision when they think of Venice. The most famous icon of Venice Beach is the Gold's Gym, once home to now-Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger. Today, an enormous "weight pen" supplies wannabe Terminators with the equipment they require, all while spectators gawk from bleachers.

Running along the boardwalk are a number of shops and eateries that cater to the eclectic tastes of Venice Beach residents and visitors. You can purchase anything from t-shirts to tattoos. That's not the only art in Venice. Most buildings are adorned with grafittied murals depicting a variety of subjects. Formerly a free for all, artists must now obtain permits before starting their work.

Even though the majority of the action takes place on the boardwalk and streets, the beach itself certainly deserves some mention. Venice has one of the better surf breaks in Los Angeles. Volleyball and handball courts abound, inviting you to work up a sweat. There are also a ton of picnic benches and tables, so takeout from any of the great restaurants on the promenade can make for an inexpensive, fun meal.

Venice is a great spot to check out while you're in LA. Don't be intimidated by the brawny weightlifters and tattooed outcasts: everyone can enjoy the madness that makes up this incredibly unique beach. <bio>ZaZaGallery.
Root Canal, or endodontics, is the process of removing the nerves from the roots of a tooth. A root canal is often necessary to save an infected tooth. If an infected tooth is left alone for a long period of time, an abscess can form. An abscess will show up on an x-ray as a dark spot below the apex of the root. This is actually bone loss in the jaw. It is very important to catch this problem before it deteriorates too far.

The first step of the procedure is to anesthetize the effected area. The next step is to open an access point through the top, or biting surface of the tooth. The doctor will then determine a working length of each canal. Each canal is then cleaned and shaped in preparation for the filling material. Once each canal is prepared, it is filled with an inert material called gutta percha. The canals are then sealed. The tooth is now ready for a restoration, which is usually a crown. This entire procedure is often completed in two visits.

Why do I need a root canal? There are a number of reasons why one of your teeth may need a root canal.
Tulips, windmills and wooden shoes might still be a draw to this Dutch region for some travelers; however, Holland is a far more versatile locale with an international and maritime history extending farther back than most of the rest of Europe, including the establishment of New Amsterdam as a major trading city, which became New York when the British took over. Holland, particularly Amsterdam, is also well known for its diamond manufacturing and polishing industry. If that tickles your fancy, make sure to visit the Amsterdam Diamond Center located in the center of the city.

Before you continue with this informative guide to Holland, make note that although the name "Holland" is used commonly in everyday language, the country is strictly called The Netherlands and internationally recognized as such.

Red Lights and Rembrandt Besides being the capital city, Amsterdam has enough to offer to fill your entire vacation. The unavoidable multiculturalism has brought Amsterdam to the forefront of controversial equality and human rights issues. Muslims, Jews, Dutch and Surinamese all have a very active role in the life and politics of the city. The Anne Frank House is an extremely popular sight with a new exhibit at the end that discusses the modern day conflict between freedom of speech and respect for cultural and religious diversity. Amsterdam is also home to the Van Gogh Museum and the newly restored Rembrandt Museum.

The Dutch acquired an extensive collection of colonies during the 18th and 19th centuries, one of which was Suriname, located on the northern coast of South America. Suriname finally gained its independence in 1975 and through an education exchange program the Surinamese population remains predominant in Amsterdam. The cultural flair adds richness to the city in the form of contemporary music, art and exquisite cuisine. Make sure to dine in a Surinamese restaurant at least once!

Amsterdam is also notorious for its Red Light District and Coffee Shops. Stroll through the winding streets at night for an incredibly diverse experience and stop at one of the bustling pubs for delicious locally brewed beer. Also, many visitors enjoy seeing the city from the water. There are boat tours offered on an hourly schedule during the summer months that take you through the picturesque canals and past charming old façades.

Timeless and Traditional Even though Amsterdam is a modern hub in the globalized world, there is still an incredible amount of tradition and history prevalent throughout The Netherlands. Visit the nearby town of Alkmaar in the summer to take part in the centuries-old cheese market and festival. Locals don traditional dress and haul giant rounds of cheese through the town square for weighing. After your fill of diary, wander through this seaside town's canals and shops. Travel through central Holland to the medieval town of Utrecht, established around 47 AD. The 14th century wharves, cathedrals and Roman architecture are sure to transport any traveler to another place in time.

For international travelers, Holland exists in a class of its own. Whether you enjoy the bustling urban experience or the intimate countryside adventure, you will find what you are looking for in Holland. <bio>For more information on travel to Holland and other regions in Europe, and discount airfare to Holland, visit http://www.cfares.com </bio>
