There are many different insulins for many different situations and lifestyles and there are more than 20 types of insulin sold in the United States. These insulins differ in how they are made, how they work in the body, and price. Insulin is made in labs to be identical to human insulin or it comes from animals (pigs). Future availability of animal insulin is uncertain.

When choosing a syringe, there are four things to consider:

Which insulin concentration it's designed for Its capacity The needle gauge (or thickness) The needle length

Your doctor can help you choose a syringe that's designed for the insulin strength that you use as well as the needle gauge (children often need smaller gauge needles for comfort). For example, if you use U-100 insulin, use U-100 syringes; otherwise, you will inject the wrong amount of insulin.

Common syringe capacities in cubic centimeters (cc) are:

3/10 cc - designed for people who take less than 30 units of insulin per dose.

1/2 cc - works best for doses of 25 to 50 units

1 cc - holds doses up to 100 units of insulin

Choose the smallest syringe barrel that can hold the total insulin dose you need to take. This will make reading the unit increments on the syringe barrel easier.

Bad insulin can head to higher blood glucose levels. Insulin does not get to be kept refrigerated but it lasts longer when it is. All insulin should be discarded after the expiry appointment or 30 days after it was opened and pierced with a syringe, whichever is earlier. Insulin that has been frozen or exposed to any warmth origin should too be thrown away.

Note: If you are using an insulin pen, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about how to use the pen correctly. Giving insulin with these pens is not covered in this information. <bio>http://www.aboutsyringe.com </bio>

Love to color your hair or cover the gray but hate the price, especially if you have short, chin-length, or thinning hair and find yourself throwing out half the color afterwards? Ever wonder how to get more value out of a bottle? I did too. And I've figured out a system that works very nicely for me. Here is the exact step-by-step process I use to get two or more rounds of coloring out of each single coloring kit.

1) Pick a coloring system that has re-closable containers. If possible, make sure that the proportion in which the ingredients have to be mixed are either 1:1 (best) or something similarly easy to replicate.

2) Go to a good drug store or a medical supply store and buy a 2 oz plastic syringe or two. You may also want to get a 1 oz syringe for touch-ups.

3) If you need extra gloves, any drug store will gladly sell them to you. They come in boxes of a hundred gloves per box, which should last you for quite a while. Even better, they come in several sizes, so if you find the gloves in the coloring packages a bit tight, you'll be able to get a much more comfortable fit if you buy the ones in the drug store.

4) For coloring your hair all over, use the big syringe. If your hair is short or no longer than about chin length, half the "normal" amount of coloring ingredients should work perfectly. Fill in ingredient #1 to fl oz, and then add fl oz of ingredient #2, for a total of 1 fl ounces, while holding the bottom hole of the syringe closed. Make adjustments to accommodate your particular brand of hair coloring (the amounts I use work for Natural Instinct Semi-Permanent Hair Color). Carefully insert the plunger, and shake the syringe to mix the ingredients.

Be careful with the syringe when you apply the mix to your hair. Be sure to aim it towards the center of your head, and watch out for stray drips. You don't want any of the stuff to go in your eyes, or anywhere else for that matter, other than your hair.

5) For touch-up jobs (roots) use the smaller syringe. It lets you use as much or as little as you'll need for your particular touch-up preferences, and it's easier to maneuver too.

6) Bonus tip: I like the semi-permanent color because it fades, which blends in with the regrowth rather than leaving an obvious line. Until it's faded too far, I just do touch-ups every now and then, and a few minutes before the end, I rub a bit of color (the rest) all over my hair to make it look more even.

7) To prevent color splotches on my skin near the hairline, I put some thick moisturizer along the hairline, which prevents the color from settling in. If I find color anyway, I use the little color removing tissues made for that exact purpose and sold at Sally's.<bio>Plagued by thinning hair and want to stop that process or even regrow some hair instead, why not check out this comprehensive step-by-step program (plus get some blush-worthy bonuses).
While cartridges differ depending on the manufacturer, technology, and so on, the ink cartridge refill instructions are fairly similar between all of them. Some brands will be easier or more difficult to refill, but they all can be refilled if you know what you're doing. Without further ado, below are the instructions for refilling your ink cartridge:

1. You will need an ink refill kit, which can be purchased from a variety of companies, both online and even in some office supply chains. One thing you need to make sure is that the refill kit is the right one for your specific cartridge, as the results are far from guaranteed if you get one designed for a different cartridge. The kits will cost less than new cartridges, but the price depends on which printer you use and which company you buy from.

2. Depending on the cartridge you will be refilling and whether it is black or color, your kit will contain ink containers, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/syringes+and+needles" rel="tag">syringes and needles, unless the containers come with built-in syringes, and refilling instructions that will likely have specific instructions for your specific cartridge. Some kits include latex gloves and cartridge holder. Even if you've read these instructions, you should at least skim the instructions provided in the kit, since they will likely be more specific.

3. Now that you're all ready to start, you should clear some area at your table and cover it to prevent any damage to your furniture from ink spills. Several layers of newspaper or a flat piece of cardboard should do the trick. Also have some paper towels handy, just in case.

4. If your kit came with a syringe and a needle, assemble those. It's best to have separate syringe and needle for each color or at the very least clean and them thoroughly before introducing any new colors.

5. Put on latex gloves, which will likely come with the kit, or buy some separately.

6. Draw the ink from the bottle into the syringe, unless, of course, the bottle came with built-in needle, in which case you can skip this step.

7. The cartridge should have a hole at the top that will need to be pushed through with a needle of some sort. Don't use the syringe needle, since it may bent. The exact location of the hole depends on the cartridge.

8. Insert the needle into the hole you just created all the way and begin slowly filling the chamber. It's very important to do it in a slow, steady pace to avoid creating foam and introducing air into the cartridge.

9. Once you have filled the ink chamber, remove the needle and return any unused ink into the ink bottle, then clean the syringe with water and dry it in open air for later use.

10. Let the cartridge sit for a few hours before placing it into the printer.

11. Put the cartridge into the printer and run the cleaning cycle a few times to ensure the best performance.

That's all there is to ink cartridge refill instructions. Once again, these are general steps and you should consult the instructions that came with the kit to ensure best possible results. <bio>Where to get the best refill ink cartridge kits by visiting http://www.findinkcartridges.com, a popular website that helps ink jet printer owners with their inkjet cartridges by providing information on which Lexmark print cartridges are the easiest to refill. </bio>

Coasting the night highways can be worrisome if your beam power is failing and the lights are dimming. An HID bulb will change all this with stunning efficiency faster than you can say "special delivery".

The Power Bulb

The HID bulb is going places, in style. It is lighting up sleek, expensive car models. You don't have to sell your soul to replace your 8-year-old reliable old car. You can have that same light power on the road without emptying your pockets.

When shopping for new car headlamps consider your options and know the features of each HID bulb. If you search online, you will discover the newest HID bulb and the usual generic ones. The reliable HID lamps are:

=95 D2S =95 H4 =95 H13 bi-Xenon =95 9006 HID =95 D2R =95 H4 bi-Xenon =95 9003 HID =95 9007 HID =95 H1 =95 H7 =95 9004 HID =95 9008 bi-Xenon =95 H3 =95 H11 =95 9005 HID

If you are going for total conversion, you can choose the appropriate HID kit:

=95 D2S =95 9005 =95 H1 =95 H8 =95 D2R =95 9006 =95 H3 =95 H4 bi-Xenon =95 9004 =95 9007 =95 H4 =95 H13 =95 9005 =95 9008 =95 H7

The HID Edge

The HID bulb produces 2,800 and 3,500 lumens from wattage of 35 and 38 electrical powers, as opposed to your halogen headlamp that only gives an output of 700 to 2,100 lumens from 40 and 72 watts. This has to be powered by a voltage of 12.8.

Your HID lamp can also emit a given beam light. You can adjust the beam light smaller than your halogen beam lights. The Xenon headlamp will be able to give a robust beam if you want to retain a larger beam pattern.

You have heard a lot of talk about the Xenon bulb, and wondered all about it. The Xenon bulb is the smartest kid on the block. A Xenon HID bulb uses, Xenon gas, obviously. This gas gets the light going during start up. The light output picks up further when the car has fully warmed up. If your car head lamp uses argon, it would take longer for the light to reach their full brightness.

Performance wise, the Xenon and your choice of HID bulb can reflect road signs and markings better. The full beam light allows you to see further down the road than the regular halogen lamps.

What do you need an igniter and ballasts for?

Since HID bulbs cannot be powered by low voltage DC, you will need ballast with an external or internal igniter. When you switch on the headlamp, the igniter goes to work immediately by driving the several thousand volts to start the arc that occurs between the electrodes inside the bulb. The arc causes heat to vaporize the metallic salts that are in the arc chamber. Meanwhile, the ballast will slowly transform the operation to the arc operation.

You will find this operation in the D1 or D2 HID bulb and mercury-free D3 and D4 HID bulbs. If you are an environmentalist, get the mercury-free HID bulb versions. You'll never go wrong. Test your bright white light when you have your new HID headlamps. You can make long distance travel to deliver your goods safely and conveniently after dark. <bio>Want to have the ultimate car and motorcycle must-have?
Knowing first aid can save the life of your dog. Just like people, dogs have accidents and need medical attention sometimes. And the thing is that sometimes there is just not time to get to the vet, that is when doggie first aid is so handy to know. Knowing what should go into your animal first aid kit is the key to keeping your dog alive and well no matter what happens. If you do a lot of hiking and walking in places like parks or on trails then you should also have a kit in your car for emergencies out of the home.

Most of the items in your doggie first aid kit are similar to those you have in your regular one for the family. There are however some things that need to be specialized for the animal of your life. Here are some of the basics that your first aid kit cannot do without:

Hydrogen peroxide Sterile eyewash solution made specifically for pets Roll of absorbent cotton Some cotton balls Clean, white cotton sock (to cover wounded paws) Gauze pads Tape Small scissors with rounded tips Tweezers Instant ice pack Bulb syringe for suctioning mucous from mouth or nose Injection syringe without the needle (to give liquid medication) Small flashlight

All of these things should fit neatly into a container that has a nice tight lid. This will help to keep everything clean and sterile no matter how long it is sitting on the shelf or in the car. It is also a good idea to have the name of the vet and his or her phone number right there on the lid so that even in a panic you will know what to do. You may even want to put the number of the local emergency animal hospital as well in case something happens early in the morning or late at night when the regular vets are all closed.

Bee stings are one of the most common of all dog injuries. It is important that you get the stinger out right away before an infection has time to set in. This will also help to minimize any pain that your dog may be in. If you have to, restrain your dog and then use the tweezers in the first aid kit to pull out the stinger. You can then wash the area with some luke warm water and baking soda. This can help to take some of the nasty stinging away and easy the pain suffered by your dog. Ice and Benadryl will also help to keep the pain and swelling to a minimum, just make sure that you ask the vet just how much Benadryl is enough for your dog. Just like kids it is important that dogs get the right dosage when they take medications.

Never rush an injured animal. While it may be your instinct to run over and start taking care of the injury, this may spook your dog and scared animals can get a little upset. You do not want to end up with an injury as well, do you? Of course not, so take your time and let the animal know that you want to help not harm.
Halogen lights have become popular as an overhead projector light. These projector bulbs provide high-intensity light that gives the presentation better lighting and dimming that ensure positive image precision. Here are the characteristics of the projector bulbs that you should consider in purchasing one. The projector bulb comes in many design, brand names, model, wattage and voltage. To identify whether the projector bulbs would fit your projector equipment, make sure learn your projector bulbs before purchasing. These bulbs have been used in:

- Business presentations - School reporting - Home-based cinema

1. Type and Shape

Check the base and note its type and shape. Make sure you know what the brand and model number of the projector bulbs for your projector - they should be listed in the user manual. If you happen to have lost your user manual, try the company website - they likely offer for download the user manuals that you can print off. This would ensure you don't go to the store and end up coming back with an incompatable bulb. If you are not aware of the brand, describe the shape of the projector bulbs base to the attendant at the light store. You could specify by telling the assistant about the shape of the bulb itself.

2. Size Matters

The size of the glass bulb is important. Basically, projector bulbs differ in the sizes of the bulbs' envelope or casing. The size of the projector bulbs would distinguish your bulb purchase if it is a foreign brand, if your projector is used in movie projectors or for slide show projector alone.

3. Knowing Is Half The Battle

The tungsten filament is a wire that reacts to the heat that occurs when the lamp is turned on. The shape of the filament would help you ask for the exact model or projector bulbs. Since each model makes use of varieties of wires and places the wire in different locations on the bulb, it would be easier for you to break down your choices for your projector bulbs' purchase.

4. The voltage and wattage

These items determine the overall output of the projector bulbs. The projector bulb that gives out brighter light does not necessarily mean that the wattage is higher than the bulb that produces a dimmer light. Make sure that you are aware of the consuming voltage and wattage of your projector bulbs.

Note:

All of the bulbs that are purchased for projectors are coded into three letters (e.g. ELH, DEK). These letters are assigned to all models that have the same filament reactivity, wattage and voltage. Since the material of the glass base does not have anything to do with the codes, you could choose your own style and could still purchase the exact bulb needed.
Most people know that the increase in energy that we are consuming, coupled with the many other activities we enjoy daily, are starting to take their toll on the Earth's environment. However, making your home more environmentally friendly can be costly and can mean making drastic changes to your lifestyle. BUT it doesn't have to be that way.

The average light fitting in the home contains a bulb which runs off your electricity supply. These vary in brightness and strength, and this is shown in the wattage of the bulb. Generally these bulbs are fixed into the light fitting either with a bayonet or a screw cap. These can be different in diameter dependent on the lamp but a wide range is available in most supermarkets, department or hardware stores. Bulbs start off quite cheaply and get more expensive the more specialised they are, but a standard 60 watt light bulb can cost only a matter of pence.

Energy saving light bulbs have become more widely recognised over the past decade. However, traditionally they have been expensive to purchase and so have put many people off fitting them in their homes. The good news is that the price of these light bulbs has reduced significantly over the years and that even more is now known about the benefits of using them. In addition, the energy saving bulbs used to be large, bulky and an odd shape. They are now available in more shapes and sizes than they were originally and although they are still slightly bigger than standard bulbs, the difference is minimal.

Energy saving light bulbs are initially more costly to buy than standard bulbs. This is an unavoidable fact. However, they use approximately one fifth of the electricity that a standard bulb costs, meaning that they last eight to ten times longer than a standard bulb. The energy saving bulbs don't cost as much to buy as 8 standard bulbs and so you are saving yourself money as soon as you make the initial investment. Couple this with the fact that where you would need a 60 watt standard bulb you will only require a 12 watt energy saving one, meaning that you will also benefit from a reduction in the amount of electricity you use, therefore cutting your bills.

If the financial aspects of suing energy saving bills are not enough alone to convince you to buy them then bear in mind that by doing something as small as changing your bulb you are also having a positive effect on the environment of the world in which you live. <bio>The author is a regular contributor to http://www.lightfixturesplus.com where more information about lights and light fixtures is available. </bio>

A scooter with the safety feature of a headlight will require some amount of maintenance so you always have a fresh bright headlight. A headlight is generally sealed tight, so little or no water is going to enter the headlight fixture. Many scooters are also available with a scoop over the headlight to prevent additional moisture from reaching the interior of the headlight.

If you do find that your headlight is getting a bit dim, or that you have moisture in the headlight fixture you should replace it. Sometimes a large jolt can break the headlight requiring replacement as well. Every scooter varies in headlight replacement needs, but the headlight is very similar to that of a car.

The headlight that requires a bulb replacement will use a very small bulb, just a size larger than that of a bulb found on a string of lights. Removing the headlight can be accomplished using a screwdriver or a wrench. Some scooters are available with easy to remove headlights that require no tools at all but the movement of a few slip connections to remove the headlight. Simply remove the old bulb, insert the new bulb, and refasten the headlight to the scooter.

Headlights that are one piece, with no interior bulb are easy to replace as well. The one-piece headlight generally is going to require a hex screwdriver or a regular screwdriver to remove the headlight. You can purchase replacement headlights through medical supply houses, through scooter retailers and online headlight sources. Knowing the make and model of your scooter will allow for easy replacement of your scooter headlight.

The once piece headlight is taken out by removing two or four screws that hold it in place. Once you have removed the screws, you pull out the headlight, and unplug the headlight from the scooter. The new headlight will plug into the electrical outlet, and then you place the headlight back into the socket. You should be sure to replace all of the screws you have taken out so your headlight is secure and in place once again.

Remember, every scooter is different, and the type of headlight your scooter is equipped with will be detailed in the manual provided with your scooter. <bio>Jason Uvios Writes about on Repairing The Headlights On A Scooter to visit :- http://www.scooter-forall.info, http://www.scooter-usa.info and http://www.scooter-always.info </bio>

So far, we have discussed the first three steps for tube feeding a puppy. Listed below is the four remaining steps on how to properly administer the procedure.

Step 4: With the puppy's mouth open, insert the end of the tube into the groove formed by the top of the tongue. Carefully push the tube back into the pharynx. You have to push the tube straight in until it reaches the depth of the pre-determined mark. If it does not go down smoothly to the depth of the mark, it is not where it should be. If the tube is accidentally inserted into the trachea, healthy puppies will cough and struggle violently. In addition, a tube that is inserted into the trachea will usually stop about half-way to the mark where it encounters the division of the trachea. Once the tube is successfully inserted to the depth of the mark, slip your thumb and forefinger from the cheeks to the tube, and hold it firmly in the mouth at the level of the mark. Slide your other fingers up and around the puppy's head, leaving the little finger behind the front legs to give it a steady hold.

Step 5: While the tube is held firmly in place, stick the open end of the tube into a small jar of water. If a series of bubbles are produced in the water, it is likely an indication that the tube has slipped into the trachea. It may also indicate that the puppy has a little gas in his stomach. In any case, however, the tube should be removed and blown clear of water, then reinserted until no air bubbles appear in the water.

Step 6: Once the tube is safely inserted in the stomach, continue to hold the tube firmly in the puppy's mouth with the thumb and forefinger. With the other hand, place the open end of the tube between the forefinger and middle finger of the hand that holds the tube in the puppy's mouth. Once again, with the opposite hand, pick up the previously filled syringe and insert it snugly into the open end of the tube.

Step 7: With the syringe firmly attached, apply gentle pressure with the thumb to the syringe plunger and deliver the substitute mother's milk. Continue to deliver the food until the correct amount has been administered. Then, draw back slightly on the plunger and gently slip the tube out, still attached to the syringe. <bio>John Mailer has been an internet marketer for a number of years.
HID bulbs have revolutionized the world of automotive driving. Install an HID kit now and get superior lighting even in the worst driving condition. Trust your HID bulb to give you unparalleled illumination for the rest of your car's life.

The Product of Brilliance

Thomas Edison was a genius. So was Carl Benz. Edison literally lit up the world while Benz (excuse the pun) mobilized it. Whoever thought of putting incandescent bulbs into automobiles was not too bad himself. Headlights revolutionized the world of driving. It allowed for 24-hour driving and made the road safer for motorists.

But incandescent bulbs have its share of disadvantages. For one thing, it causes glare that can be discomforting and dangerous. And since incandescent bulbs work on the concept of heat transmission, they can also be very inefficient. Another downside is that incandescent bulbs will only run for about 1,000 hours.

For years, engineers and technicians have been working on creating the perfect headlights for your car. As a result, a variety of lighting systems have been developed. These include halogen headlights and High Intensity Discharge (HID) bulbs. Among these automotive lighting systems, the HID bulb has proven to be the most efficient.

How the HID Bulb Works its Genius

The HID bulb produces intense bright light that's perfect for the most distressing driving conditions. Install this in your car and drive through the thickest fog without the worry. An HID bulb uses xenon. Unlike the incandescent light and halogen light, this does not have a filament and does not work with heat. Instead, it sends large amounts of electricity through gas which creates an electric arc that emits the light.

Halogen lights have been around for a long time and will probably still be around for the years to come. However, people are beginning to realize the edge of installing an HID kit. The yellowish beams produced by the conventional halogen bulb does not compare to the bright white light of the HID bulb. HID bulbs also consume less power than halogen lamps.

Why Halogen Headlamps Must Leave Your Car

Still not convinced? Compare the life span of your old halogen lamp to that of an HID bulb. You'll be amazed to find out that while your halogen lamp has a limited lifetime, a top-of the-line HID bulb will last the lifetime of your car. Before you trade in your old headlights, check out your options. Hundreds of manufacturers and distributors have popped up due to the incredible demand for the product, thus, you'll have to do some window-shopping or site hopping.

If your budget is your concern, look around for HID automotive lighting kits within your range. Just a friendly reminder: whatever budget you're working on, never settle for cheap, aftermarket HID kits. These kits may be easier on your bank account but they won't last long.

Do customer service research, especially when considering unknown vendors. Look around and compare offers. Be sure to ask for product warrantees when purchasing your very own HID conversion kit. The rule of thumb when buying your HID bulb and lighting system is that you get what you pay for. Don't worry if you find that you're spending a little more than you would on halogen lamps. You can count on your HID kits to be worth every penny. <bio>Finding the HID bulb (http://www.neverburnout.com/) fascinating?
A flashlight, also called a torch is a portable device used for illumination and usually has battery cells for power. A flashlight usually consists of a small electric light bulb, a compartment for batteries which power the bulb, a switch for the bulb and a parabolic reflector for focusing the light. The battery compartment also acts like a handle for holding the flashlight.

Though the flashlight is of a very simple design, it is a relatively new invention. It came into being after the incandescent light bulb and the dry cell was invented.

The name "flashlight" has a humorous background. In the early days of the dry cell, the power of a dry cell battery was very limited. To save the dry cell from discharging quickly, the flashlight was operated intermittently and just long enough to check out the environments, hence the name "flashlight".

There are many flashlight designs available in the market today. Like dry cell flash lights, rechargeable acid type flashlights, rechargeable dry cell type, LED (Light Emitting Diode) type, solar charging type, electromagnet type, head lamp type, underwater type, rifle or gun light etc.

The dry cell flashlight is the simplest design and used in most households and consists of dry cells to power the electric bulb. As the batteries discharge the illumination dims in these flashlights.

Rather than buying a flashlight, which needs battery replacement frequently, a better design is to use rechargeable batteries, which can be lead acid type or dry cell type.

Some use solar panels for recharging during daytime. Electromagnet type uses a clockwork arrangement or a knob arrangement. In clockwork arrangement a spring mechanism is used to power the flashlight and has to be wound as required. The knob type arrangement has a moving coil or magnet which moves when the knob is pressed and charges a capacitor, which provides power to the bulb.

LED type flashlights are of a recent design. Though LED:s have been around for decades, the LED flashlight was not available till late 90s because the LED:s could not be operated continuously and their luminosity was very poor.

LED flashlights consume very little power compared to the conventional electric bulb as LED:s do not produce as much heat as electric bulb. LED flashlights usually have a metal body to dissipate heat by conduction since LED:s do not dissipate heat through the light beam like electric bulbs do.

A headlamp type has a flashlight on a helmet so that the hands are free. Underwater type is a special flashlight, which is used for illuminating underwater objects and is waterproof. Rifle or gun lights are special flashlights used for illumination of target.

Flashlights are fairly cheap and available in attractive designs. The price ranges from a few dollars to a couple of hundred dollars. <bio>Keith George always writes about valuable news and reviews.
A safe way to nurse a newborn puppy without the risk of strangulation is by using a feeding tube. The equipment needed for tube feeding an orphaned or abandoned puppy is quite simple.

You will need a #8 or a #10 French infant feeding tube, a hypodermic syringe, and a substitute for mother's milk. The tube and syringe are disposable and can be thrown away after each use. On the other hand, there are also reusable equipment such as glass barrel syringes and rubber feeding tubes that are available but must be thoroughly cleaned right after each use. One great advantage of these feeding tubes is that they can be placed in water and boiled, along with any other equipment, when sterilization is required.

After the proper equipment has been gathered, the feeding of a puppy with a stomach tube is performed by applying the following steps:

Step 1: Fill the syringe about =BD full of the warmed mother's milk substitute and put it aside for future use. Then, determine the proper depth to which the tube should be inserted by measuring, with the tube, the distance between the puppy's nose and a point just behind the elbow or just in front of the last rib. This is approximately where the stomach of the puppy is located. Continue to hold the tube by your thumb and forefinger.

;

Step 2: The next step is to mark the tube at the correct depth measured in step 1. This can be done using a marking pen, or with a tiny piece of tape.

Step 3: With the marked tube still held between the thumb and forefinger, hold the puppy with the opposite hand, placing the thumb and forefinger on the cheeks, one on each side of the puppy's mouth. Use the remaining three fingers of the same hand to grasp the puppy. The middle finger is placed around the puppy's neck, in front of the forelegs. The fourth finger grasps the rib cage just behind the front legs. The little finger is placed in front of the hind legs, either in the groin or around the abdomen, depending on the puppy's length. Once the puppy is held firmly in hand, pry its jaw open with the little finger of the hand holding the tube. Gentle and steady pressure is placed on the sides of the mouth at the same time. By maintaining this light pressure, the mouth can be held agape once it is opened. <bio>John Mailer has been an internet marketer for a number of years.
A UV sterilizer uses an ultraviolet bulb to destroy harmful organisms, such as parasites, viruses, algae, and bacteria. An effective sterilizer, this device works wonders on aquarium water. It works so well that companies often use it to purify water on a larger scale, and to control algae growth in outdoor ponds.

If you have a home aquarium, chances are you already have several filtration units taking care of the water. A UV sterilizer is a good addition to an aquarium, although it should be the last stage of the filtration process. It's important that aquarium water passes through the mechanical filter before moving through the UV unit. The mechanical or canister filter removes solids so that any water that passes through the UV unit afterwards is cleaned with optimal results.

UV sterilizers continue to work well as long as the bulb wattage is sufficient and the bulb isn't too old. The efficiency of the device also depends on the cleanliness of the quartz sleeve and the flow rate of the unit.

The Bulb

As time goes by UV the bulb will start to lose its effectiveness, which is why you should replace it every 6 months. You can purchase bulbs between 8 watts and 130 watts =96 a higher wattage does a better job at cleaning the water. Devices with a lower wattage bulb require a lower flow rate to work well.

Flow Rate

The flow rate is also an important factor to consider - a slower flow rate is more effective at killing parasites, in addition to algae and bacteria. The flow rate is measured in either gallons per hour or liters per hour. A device with a 15-watt bulb has no problem controlling algae and bacteria at a 120 gph flow, but it won't kill parasites unless the flow rate drops to 75 gph.

Clean the Quartz

The quartz sleeve is located where the UV bulb fits into the device. A lot of people forget about this part of the UV sterilizer and fail to give it a good cleaning every once in a while. Cleaning removes buildup and ensures that the UV sterilizer continues to work at top capacity. More expensive sterilizers are designed with a wiper handle positioned outside of the device for fast and easy cleaning of the sleeve, without having to take everything apart.

Luckily, it's easy to find UV sterilizers these days, in local stores and online. These devices make a wonderful addition to any aquarium, but they come with a hefty price tag, especially when you factor in the cost of replacement bulbs.

Saltwater aquarium enthusiasts are more likely to purchase UV sterilizers because they improve the quality of the water and offer another layer of protection for expensive saltwater fish.

Although a UV sterilizer is not a necessity, many aquarium hobbyists do find that this device is effective at maintaining clean water and keeping fish and other aquatic life healthy and happy. It all comes down to personal choice and what works best for your aquarium. <bio>Salty Supply Provides quality Aquarium Supplies at http://www.saltysupply.com </bio>

There are several reasons why you may need to give your dog an enema and they include to help rehydrate dogs that are vomiting or have severe diarrhea, to administer medications to your dog or to relieve a dog that is suffering from constipation. It is important to only use an enema when you are sure what they condition is, using an enema can be problematic under some situations as it may mask the real problems so always have your dog checked by a vet if you have any concerns at all before giving an enema.

Depending on the size of your dog there are two different types of products that can be used to give an enema. For small and toy breeds a plastic syringe that holds approximately 2-3 tablespoons of liquid is all that is required but for medium to large breeds an enema bag with a rubber nozzle will be required. Remember that it is not just the volume of liquid introduced to the body at one time that is important; it is the routine introduction of liquids that helps, especially in cases of dehydration due to vomiting and diarrhea.

Start with 2-3 tablespoons of warm but not hot water for small dogs or up to one pint of warm but not hot water for larger breeds. To this water add a few drops of lemon juice and a few grains of sea salt and a pinch of potassium chloride to help with rehydration. If you are only trying to relieve constipation, the salt and potassium chloride will not be necessary. In most dehydration situations this process will need to be repeated every 4 hours, but only make up enough for a single use at a time.

Start by mixing the liquid and testing to make sure it is warm but not hot. Add the liquid to the syringe or enema bag, then lubricate the nozzle or end with vegetable oil. Since the dog will have a bowel movement within a few minutes of the procedure and their may be some leakage, this should be completed outdoors or in a bathtub or sink. A partner is essential to help you hold the dog facing away from you. Grasp the tail and gently lift, then insert the syringe or enema nozzle into the rectum until the end is completely inserted. Gently depress the plunger or squeeze the enema bag until all liquid is in the dog's rectum. Remove the nozzle and allow the dog to move about. In severely dehydrated dogs the liquid will actually be absorbed by the colon, which is exactly what you want to have happen. If there are any problems resulting from the dog enema, consult a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Hopefully, these steps will help you dog get back on track and feel better. Your dog's happiness is always important to any family. I know that I love my dogs and they mean the world to me and I will do anything for them.<bio>For more information recommended by Kelly Marshall, see these recent articles Is your Dog's Food Responsible For His Behavior? and Microchips For Dogs Make Sense.</bio>

Wherever you look and wherever you go, you will find that people are striving hard to save money in whatever ways possible. Hence, it comes to no surprise that refill ink kits are so popular since they are the most economical way of printing today. There is no difference between the normal ink and refill ink for printer cartridges which is found in the re-fill kits.

How Ink and Refill Ink For Printer Cartridges Kits Can Save You a Pretty Penny

In order to get the best of the ink and refill ink for printer cartridges from the re-fill kits, the following measures should be followed:

1. Take the ink of all the colors you need and then draw it out with the help of the syringe which comes with the re-fill kit. When you do this procedure be sure you are over the sink or a big stack of newspapers, lest you will stain anything when and if the ink drips out from the syringe. Check very carefully from the instruction given with the kit, exactly how much ink will be required so you can draw the right amount of ink for the re-fill.

2. Make a tiny hole near the label of the ink and/or refill ink for printer cartridges where you will have to inject the ink you drew from the re-fill kit. Depending on the amount, inject the ink slowly into the empty chamber. It is very important that when you push in the ink and/or refill ink for printer cartridges that this is done with utmost care and patience; otherwise the ink will get bubbles; and if bubbles are formed, then the cartridge will not print.

3. In case the ink and refill ink for printer cartridges gets dried up and clogs the cartridge, then you should hold it upside down and swing it abruptly a few times. This should get the ink flowing again. If this does not work still, you should clean the clogged heads with a good cleaner by soaking the heads if necessary. This would ensure that the clogged ink is removed and the ink flows freely again.

4. Once the ink cartridge has been refilled, you should run the cleaning cycle a couple of times so that if any gap that was left in the cartridge while filling it up can be found and rectified. <bio>Ola Norrman is webmaster of http://inkandrefill.com/, which provide deep information about ink, cartridges and refill.
Sometimes, you may need to do more than just giving solid or liquid medication to your sick dog. Depending on his condition and symptoms, you may also have to provide other kinds of nursing care, such as giving enemas. Below is an effective way to use this procedure:

The use of enemas can be beneficial for dogs that has the following conditions; constipation, during fasting, dehydration, excessive vomiting, bowel irritation caused by bone fragments or the presence of spoiled food or garbage in the digestive tract.

Before administering this procedure, make sure that you only use pure water that is warm but not hot (test it on your wrist to make sure). Use about two tablespoons for a small dog and up to a pint for a large dog. Add a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the water and administer the mixture with a plastic or rubber syringe for about 2 to 3 minutes. For large dogs, you can use and enema bag and a nozzle.

Here is how to do it: You must lubricate the end of the syringe with vegetable oil. Have someone help you hold the dog gently while he stands in a tub or on the ground. Insert the nozzle carefully into the rectum. Using gentle and consistent pressure against the anus (to prevent the fluid from leaking out), slowly fill the colon. If the solution does not flow in easily, pull back on the nozzle or syringe and slightly adjust the angle. Expect a bowel movement to begin within a few minutes. You may administer the enema once or twice a day for a couple of days.

In many cases, dogs that are dehydrated are simply retaining the fluid. This occurs when the colon absorbs the fluid which the body needs. Therefore, enemas are an excellent way to administer fluid therapy. Under these circumstances, administer the enema about every four hours or until fluid is no longer retained.

If a dog is having difficulty keeping water in his stomach due to heavy vomiting, an enema can help introduce the fluid and salts that are needed to replace those lost through vomiting. Using the solution as described earlier, add a pinch of sea salt plus a pinch of potassium chloride. The same solution can also be used to help a dog suffering from prolonged diarrhea. In this case, administer the enema every four hours or until fluid is no longer retained. <bio>John Mailer has written many articles about dogs and puppies and how to train them. His main business is as an internet marketer. http://www.basicsdogtraining.com/petgrooming.html http://www.basicsdogtraining.com/dognutrition.html http://www.howtostartonlinehomebusiness.com </bio>

More and more home, apartment and office owners are looking for ways to go green. The benefits not only improve the quality of our environment, but they also make for significant tax deductions at the end of the year. As energy efficiency is becoming more prevalent in household lighting and home lighting design is becoming more popular, it is no surprise that LED lights are coming to the forefront as a leading choice for illumination.

We are all familiar with the traditional incandescent light bulb. These bulbs are filled with a gas and then a filament is stretched across the inside. When electricity is run across the filament, it heats up to often very high temperatures. The bulb's glow is a result of the filament heating up. The heat is a result of wasted energy. Incandescent bulbs also suffer from inherent fragility. These lights weaken over time as the heat separates atoms from the whole and causes thin spots in the filament. Eventually these thin spots will break and you will need to replace the bulb.

An alternative light to the incandescent is the halogen bulb. In a halogen bulb the envelope that holds the filament is a lot smaller, made of quartz and is filled with a halogen gas. These bulbs can burn a bit brighter and will last for longer periods of time. It is halogen lighting that is currently used quite often by movie theaters, television studios and movie sets. These bulbs are still heat inefficient, however. The most common halogen light used for indoor and outdoor home lighting is the twelve volt MR16 halogen light.

The LED, light-emitting diode, bulb is a culmination of the best of both the incandescent and halogen worlds but with the efficiency that neither can provide. In an LED bulb, the science on which it is based is completely different from the other two options. There is no filament and very little heat. The light source is a diode that emits light when electricity is applied. This mechanism for creating light allows for much lower energy use, brighter light, and longer lasting bulbs.

One of the most common LED home light bulbs available is the LED Lenser Leflector. These bulbs can replace any halogen bulb up to twenty watts. The leflector can burn continuously for more than 50,000 hours before needing to be replaced. That is more than five years of continuous use and over thirty years if the bulbs burn an average of four hours a day. LED home bulbs are over ninety percent more efficient than a halogen bulb and can be operated for pennies a year. These features make them perfect for moving your home =96 kitchen, living room, game room; you name it - to a more environmentally conscious dwelling.

Outdoor applications for LED lights are many. They work well for outdoor accent lighting because of the many color options available and can be adjusted to be both spotlights and security flood lights.

Updating light fixtures in a home or office is an excellent way to reduce household costs, save energy and at the same time improve upon your home lighting design.

~Ben Anton, 2008 <bio>Ben Anton lives in Portland, OR and writes for Discount Lights and Knives.
Greens for the winter months can spice up your table and lighten up your calories. You can have them all winter long with the help of H4 HID bulbs heating up your winter garden. Impossible? Not really.

Eat All You Can

You can still enjoy those greens come winter =96 fresh from your garden. You can serve up Kale, Swiss Chard, beet greens, bib lettuce, spinach, and everything nice for your health. What's more, you can pick them young and fresh from your garden because you're getting help from H4 HID bulbs.

Do away with those trips to the greengrocers. Just go out to your garden and take what is enough for a tasty meal. On top of the vitamins and minerals from the greens, you get a lot of exercise from digging in the garden and preparing the garden beds. In your temperature controlled hothouse, you can also grow exotic blooms that will thrive from the heat of H4 HID bulbs.

Planning a Winter Garden

During winter, indoor gardeners have to use artificial light to extend the length of daylight. Shorter daylight affects the photosynthesis process in plants. Without the proper lighting, you cannot have your greens or flowers. You will have to wait until Spring for your greens.

When planning your indoor garden, you have to get acquainted with the different lighting systems. The growing popularity of HID technology has invaded gardening too. H4 HID lamps provide near natural light and the necessary temperature needed for some plant varieties to thrive.

In indoor gardens where there is inadequate light, the use of H4 HID lights is the best option. Incandescent bulbs may be useful but these cannot supply adequate spectrum for seedlings. If you notice that your seedlings are faring poorly, change your lighting system.

Here is the difference between the incandescent bulb and H4 HID. In incandescent bulbs, electricity is passed through a tungsten filament. When the filament glows, it gives off heat. These types of bulbs are cheap and can fit in any socket but the light they give off is insufficient. The H4 HID bulb, on the other hand, contains metal halide and the heat given off is sufficient for the germination of the seedlings. The heat is adequate too for blooms. The H4 is more expensive than the common incandescent bulbs, but you get your money's worth because this type of lamp gives off light close to sunlight that makes your plants happy.

How does the H4 HID bulb help your plants?

Lamps for indoor gardening mimic the light and heat radiated by sunlight. When there is enough light and heat, plants are able to produce their food through the process of photosynthesis. Should this process fail, plants will not survive. The H4 HID lamp plays a crucial role in the success of your greenhouse gardening efforts.

H4 HID lamps are not just for winter gardening. You can use this too if you are into commercial gardening of select blooms and other plant varieties. These lamps will perform throughout the year with no fuss. Just follow the manufacturer's recommendation and you'll have more than your greens. <bio>Feel like growing a rainforest? You probably can with H4 HID (http://www.neverburnout.com/HID-Xenon-Conversion-Kit-H4-p/kit-h4.htm).
Having bright, efficient lighting in both the home and the office is an ever growing important issue.
