How many times have you looked at your stack of reading materials, and felt overwhelmed? Most of us are bombarded with more and more written information every day- magazines, reports, e-books, newspapers, professional studies- it seems to never stop.

All this information has made becoming a speed-reader a necessity for those who want to stay on top of their profession. Reading faster and increasing comprehension has become a mandatory time management technique.

Evelyn Wood developed speed-reading, in 1959. Currently, there are a wide variety of classes and techniques available for anyone who wants to master this skill. There are classes, books, audio programs, and computer programs to suit any learning style.

Here are five quick steps you can use right now to increase your reading speed and comprehension:

1.Prepare to read- set aside some time in a distraction-free environment. Find a comfortable spot, and check your focus. If you find you are having a hard time concentrating on what you are reading, close your eyes, and take a couple of deep breaths. If that doesn't work, and you are still distracted, put off your reading for another time.

2.Overview the material- look at the titles and subtitles. Ask yourself," Why am I reading this book? What can I learn from it?"

3.Preview- read the introduction, and the first sentence of each paragraph. Determine what the focus of the piece is, and what the key points are.

4.Read Actively-Underline the main points, mark any areas that are significant to you. Take note of anything that you don't understand, as well as any topics you find for discussion.

5.Finally, relate what you are reading to what you already know. This will put everything in context for you, and help you remember more of what you read.

Speed-reading is a skill that is built up over time. If you begin to practice it, even for 15 minutes each day, you'll see results quickly. <bio>Gerri Stone offers a free Speed-reading tutorial, as well as more tips and resources at her website about Speed Reading http://www.aboutspeedreading.com </bio>

Contrary to popular belief, speed reading is not mere magic. In fact, some good professional speed reading classes are available if you're serious in enhancing your speed reading skills. Some classes could help you improve and develop your reading and comprehension skills. There are actually a lot of people out there who think they are able to speed-read; but when you ask them a question about what they've read, they can't actually get the answer right.

Speed reading is not just looking, and then flipping over one page to another. There are actual methods and techniques that you should use in order to be able to read fast and actually understand what you're reading. Speed reading is actually based on how well your eyes are drawn to motion and how you use that motion on the pages that you're reading.

Here a few basic speed reading techniques that would help you get started on your quest towards better and faster reading:

The first speed reading technique is called "the hand." You simply place your right hand on the page that you are reading then slowly move it down while your eyes follow. Try to read as much as you can. Make sure to keep an even and slow motion and try not to be mindful of your right hand because it'll just distract you from your reading. This simple technique can actually help you learn how to speed-read; but if you're just starting to learn, take it easy on yourself and do not rush. Obviously if you are left-handed, you should use your dominant hand instead.

The next speed reading technique is using a card to block some of the passages that you are not meant to read yet. Speed reading may seem to be a very daunting task and you might actually commit that mistake of reading something repeatedly. Placing a card over the words that you shouldn't be reading yet would help you block out the "distractions" and would help you concentrate more on the passages that you are supposed to read.

Another good speed reading technique that you might want to try is "the sweep" technique. Cup your dominant hand and use it to "underline" the words or lines that you are trying to read. This will help you focus more on what you are reading by putting more emphasis on just the things that you should be reading.

Another point to consider is that you should have a good posture while reading. Sit down with your back straight in order to help you get a good starting position. You must also be a good reader even before attempting to learn how to speed-read. Speed reading is not all about developing comprehension skills and your vocabulary; you should at least be well versed or you'll just get confused while trying to quicken your reading pace. <bio>You can find out more on how to effectively double your reading speed and accelerate your learning abilities to the extreme on the website at http://www.speed-reading-online-training-course.com </bio>

Cruiser bicycles have always been the most popular amongst all the various kinds of bicycles available on the market. These bicycles are not built for rough terrain like mountain bikes but for proper streets. The emphasis is much more on looks and convenience than on performance. But this is what the general public mostly goes for. After all not many from the general public are going to go for long distance mountain biking or speed racing.

Therefore, the bicycle manufacturers have also very smartly kept exactly these things in mind when producing cruiser bikes. They will make use of the most advanced technology to enhance the performance of cruiser bicycles but certainly not at the expense of style and comfort. These latter two are first and foremost on the agenda of the cruiser bicycle manufacturers. Advanced performance can readily take a back seat to these two. Speed is not really a major concern when it comes to cruiser bicycles. So the norm generally is a single gear while some cruiser bicycles may have more but it is always kept to a minimum. These bicycles have not been built for racing. If you are looking at speed or taking a wild ride through some humongous forest you would probably do better to get yourself a 27 speed mountain tires with twenty six inch thick monster tires.

On the other hand if you are looking for a relaxing ride through the beautiful countryside on lazy Sunday afternoons then cruiser bicycles are just the things for you. Or maybe you have to make frequent trips to your neighborhood supermarket. But the supermarket is too near from your place to feel like taking out your car but too far to go there walking.

Since comfort is such a huge factor in the design of these cruiser bicycles, the seats are always given special attention. Most of the time, the seats are of saddle design which is well padded for the comfort of the rider. Most of these bicycles come fitted with shock absorbers which have become sort of a necessity nowadays. And most bicycles have more than one shock absorber- there is one usually beneath the seat and another on the wheel. This makes riding the bicycle much more comfortable as hard impacts with the ground and with foreign objects are diminished to a great degree. <bio>James Brown writes about http://www.onlinebikedeals.com, http://www.onlinebikedeals.com/Categories/Racks.html and http://www.SimplyBestCoupons.com. </bio>

As in other countries, people in the UK are choosing broadband more often than dial up. In fact, the majority of internet users in the UK have broadband internet.

The UK, however, has had a slow move into the age of faster internet when compared to other countries, especially those in Europe.

The initiation of UK broadband internet and the broadband speeds are quite a bit behind European countries.

New technologies like internet phone and online video streaming has made it almost essential for internet users to seek out a faster way to get online.

Broadband has been that answer. Many online companies depend upon the users viewing their content with a high speed connection, so the slow start of the UK has actually held back many companies from becoming as profitable as they would have liked in the UK.

It has also led to frustration for people in the UK who seek to have that faster online speed and the ability to take advantage of everything the internet has to offer.

The UK broadband internet providers are unable to offer top speeds that are available in other countries.

Despite plenty of hype and promise that higher speeds would be introduced from the beginning. Providers are finding that getting top speed to those in remote areas is far more difficult than expected, which has resulted in users in those areas lagging behind those in the more populated areas of the UK.

To make up for the lack of speed in some areas, UK broadband internet providers have went to lowering prices and offering specials to customers.

This has lead to many people signing up for broadband internet and has started to make broadband internet a very competitive market. Now that the market is built up, though, providers have to start looking into improving speed.

The problem with UK broadband internet is that the remote areas are still hassling with slow speeds that, while better than dial up, do not compare to speeds elsewhere in the world or even the more populated areas of the UK.

Users are unsatisfied that they are not getting the speeds that those within and close to the cities are getting. The availability is wide in the UK, with almost every area being serviced, however, the focus is now shifting to bringing all customers higher speeds that compare to the rest of the world.

The growth of broadband internet in the UK is starting to even out, with the remote areas catching up with the other areas as far as speed.

The improvement of UK broadband internet service is gradually, but steadily moving along. Within the next few years all the areas in the UK should be at or around the same speed of broadband internet.

However, currently the UK still ranks around the bottom for speed when compared to other countries around the world. <bio>Robert Michael is a writer for http://www.ukispreview.co.uk which is an excellent place to find broadband links, For more information go to:www.ukispreview.co.uk </bio>

There are three kinds of cyclists - the casual cyclist, the dedicated weekend hobbyist, and the fanatic. It's the fanatic who will probably want to get a customized road bike.

There are customized bikes...and then there are custom-built bikes.

What's the difference between the two?

Cusstomized Bikes

Well, anyone who goes to a bike store and has the clerks there help him, or her, fit the bike properly, will usually "customize" their bike by choosing the kind of saddle they like (narrow or wide, gel-filled, etc.), different stem lengths for handlebar height, v-pull or disc brakes, etc.

You can continue to customize your bike with accessories such as bells, compasses, and lights - and you can even give it a paint job if you're good at that sort of thing. (Indeed, I've got a Schwinn Sierra that's about four years old, and I've been thinking of giving it a new coat of blue paint with yellow highlights. Unfortunately, I know I don't have the skill to make it look even halfway decent.)

Road bikes are, obviously, built specifically to ride on roads, and aren't suited for cross-country travel. The tires are very narrow to provide as little resistance as possible to the road, and the handlebars are of the drop-down type which force the rider to lean forward at an acute angle. However, there are various additions to the handlebars one can get so that when resting is more important than speed, it's possible to sit up straight and still control the bike properly.

Lowriders are another type of road bike, though not one used for racing, but rather for cruising around showing off their paint jobs.

Custom Built

What does custom-built mean? A custom-built bike is one that is built for you from the ground up - and hand-crafted more often than not. Your every measurement is taken and the frame is built to those measurements. Cranksets will fit your legs, top tubes will be just the right length, and it'll be built out of the space-age material you prefer.

And in addition to that of course you can choose the types of shifters and breaks you'd like as well.

Custom-built bikes are the most expensive bikes you can get, but they will fit you like a glove and if you are a serious bike rider that is the type of bike you'll want.

Serious road bikers have many different activities in which they can indulge, from"ultra long distance riding" (Randonneuring) to triathlons - where one of the three segments of the race is biking. These type of athletes have to have custom-built bikes. <bio>Alastair Hamilton is the editor of different articles with reference to cycling for http://www.bikecyclingreviews.com .
Speed comes up almost constantly in greyhound handicapping. Why wouldn't it? Speed is what gets one dog around the track faster than the other 7 dogs. Obviously, if you can figure out which greyhound has the fastest speed, you can pick the winner of any race. But that's easier said than done. Believe me, learning speed handicapping in greyhound racing can take a lifetime.

I think most of us handicappers start out by looking for dogs with the fastest times in their last races. When we realize that doesn't work, we may switch to dogs with the fastest "best time" if the program provides that information. Many of them do. But that's not really a true picture of how fast the dog will run in any race. Even if the conditions and dogs of the "best time" race were exactly the same, there's no way to tell how fast a dog will run.

The weather might have been different that day. The track might have been soft near the rail or roughed up or particularly hard if the "best time" is a lot faster than the dog's usual times. Speed is more than just numbers. Speed has to be compared to grade, class and post position. In other words, there's no way to compare speed between dogs without taking other factors into account.

There are some dogs who are speed demons if they catch a good break, can see the lure throughout the race and don't get cut off by other dogs. But when they race against dogs who don't have quite as much speed, but who run the same kind of race whether or not they get the break or can see the lure, these dogs can lose their speed advantage if things don't go just the way they want them to.

What I mean is that speed only works if the dog also has determination, catches a good break and is able to run where and how it wants. Trying to figure out whether all of this will come together today for this particular dog is the first step to learning speed handicapping in greyhound races.

There are many, many sports betting systems that purport to translate speed figures into a mechanical formula that allows you to compare dogs' speed ratings between grades, but I've never found one that worked. Maybe it's partly because I'm not big on crunching numbers with a calculator or software when I'm handicapping. But maybe it's also because you can't really use prior speed to absolutely calculate today's speed in a greyhound race.

True, if you look at a race and see that one or two dogs are consistently faster than the other dogs, you'd make a mental note of that as you look at the other factors in today's race. But you wouldn't stop right there and play those dogs just because they look fast. You'd keep handicapping and looking for how they're going to get out, what their running style is and how the other dogs are going to affect them.

So, speed is one factor in greyhound handicapping, of course it is. But learning speed handicapping isn't the whole secret to winning at the dog track. If it was, we'd all be rich and it wouldn't take half as long to handicap our programs. Learn to handicap for speed, but then go on to post position, running style, class and the other factors that help you pick winners, quinielas and trifectas.<bio>Get free tips, articles and greyhound handicapping systems at http://ebnetr.com.</bio>

Soccer speed training is essential for any player to excel in the sport. Speed is an essential trait for every player on the field. Thus soccer speed training will increase the skill at which a player can perform on the field. There are numerous speed training drills that soccer players can utilize while increasing their speed and agility training.

The strikers are one of the most benefiting players on the field. They score the majority of all goals scored in soccer. Thus having the highest possible speed on the field is very encouraging to strikers. The fact that they have to be able to be in the best position to receive a pass and then beat their opponent to the goal in order to score adequately portrays the necessity of soccer speed training.

Also defenders can benefit from an increase in speed. On the field if you do not have a great defense you will not be able to win soccer matches. The fact that the game is based on athletic ability means that speed is essential. The defenders have to be fast enough to keep up with the strikers when they are trying to maneuver past them.

A midfield player needs to have speed in order to be able to traverse the field in their ever changing dimensions as a player. A midfielder is a crucial component to the game. They have both defensive and offensive roles on the field. Thus the speed ability is key for a midfielder because it deceases the amount of time in which the player will be spending traveling back and forth among the field to change from an offensive player to a defensive player.

Finally the goal keeper also needs to have the ability to maintain speed on the field. And thus drills to improve his or her speed are essential for this position too. All great goal keepers are fast goal keepers. They are fast on their feet and fast in their minds. The ability of a goal keeper to respond quickly to balls passed into space is essential. Thus speed is a key component to the position of goal keeper.

If you are a member of a soccer team or a coach of a soccer team it is important to remember the importance of speed training. Speed training is an essential portion of the game and key to creating a team that will not only provide a great offensive squad but also a great defensive squad. <bio>K.Davis is writing a series of articles on speed and agility training.
Speed training drills are a key ingredient to a training regiment for any soccer team. Almost all professional soccer clubs utilize speed training drills. Soccer speed training is just that essential. There are many different drills for speed training. Speed training drills can also be very fun for players.

Keeping practice fun is a challenge for any coach of any soccer team. Its challenging for the coaches of little children leagues and even for professional leagues. The key is to training your players with the best tools that are available and will continue to attract players to the practices.

If practice can be fun for players they will be more willing to participate in the practice. if they are willing to participate they will be more likely to give their all to their practice and training regiments. The fact that the players are more likely to give more in practice also translates to giving more on the field.

A soccer team must utilize practice and speed training in order to be successful. Speed is something that is learned and also something that is easily forgotten. If you are not constantly training your body and your brain to utilize its full extent in terms of speed it will not be capable of handling speed bursts to their full ability.

The key to speed is in teaching the body how it needs to operate in order to function at its highest speed. And after teaching your body how to function then you must ensure that you are constantly reminding your body how to function at those levels and constantly pushing your body to further levels above and beyond what you know. This will ensure a great soccer club and ensure that the players are at their peak physical fitness and refinement.

If you look at any professional soccer clubs you will see that those that are successful have fast players. The forwards are fast, their defense is fast, and most importantly their midfield is fast. Having fast players is a key ingredient to having a great team. Great teams can be founded on skill and knowledge of the game. But if they do not have the speed in order to carry out the skill and knowledge of the game they will not be able to ever achieve their highest levels. <bio>K.Davis is writing a series of articles on speed and agility training.
A speed limit is the fastest speed that one is allowed to travel on roadways in a motor vehicle. Speed limits are usually set by legislative bodies and enforced by law enforcement. The speed limits that are set are usually what is appropriate for the driving conditions on a particular road. If the road is narrow or very curvy, it may have a lower speed limit than a road similar to it that is a little wider and has less curves. Highways, however, are quite unique in their speed limits for several reasons. One of those reasons is that they are usually straight and quite wide. This means their speed limits are higher than 2 lane roads that can be narrow or the streets in town.

The speed limits that are set on a highway are not higher than what is reasonable, so they do not endanger a person's safety. However, it is important that an individual adjusts their speed for such conditions as fog, rain, or snow despite what the speed limit says. There are areas that actually post minimum speed limit signs to keep the flow of traffic in check, but in hazardous conditions, it is not necessary to obey these minimum speed limit signs and not recommended to travel at the maximum speed.

This is common in the U.S., but what about speed limits in other areas around the world? Montana used to have a highway with no speed limit. Are there any more highways anywhere in the world that has no speed limit?

And there is.

The Auto Bond highway in Germany has no speed limit. It doesn't matter how fast a person drives, they will not get pulled over for speeding. This is where the "rule of thumb" regarding not driving faster than what is reasonable comes in. Only about 30% of the motorways in Germany actually have speed limits, but there is no universal speed limit put in place.

As for other speed limits around the world:

=95 The United States: Anywhere between 55 and 80 mph =95 The United Kingdom: 70 mph =95 France: 68 mph when it is raining and 80 mph when it is not =95 Italy: 80 mph, but is reduced to 70 mph in rainy conditions and on curvy roads. The speed limit can go as high as 95 mph on roads that are straight with three lanes going each direction. =95 Netherlands: 75 mph on most motorways, but there are some places in which the limits are 62 mph. =95 Switzerland: 75 mph =95 Canada: 55 to 70 mph =95 China: 75 mph =95 Australia: 80 mph

With the exception of Germany, most speed limits are enforced on highways. Usually, if the traveler is traveling within 10 mph over the speed limit, law enforcement may not issue a ticket. In fact, only about 1% of speeding tickets are for violations 10 mph below the speed limit. However, every country has their own guidelines regarding how they enforce speed limits. The United Kingdom, for instance, considers it an offense if a person is exceeding the speed limit by what is considered tolerable plus 10% plus 2 miles. This is an example of a formula used rather than simply ticketing someone for going a certain number of miles per hour over the speed limit.

Nevertheless, it is fair to say that if you are going to visit a country, it is good to obey the speed limits because you can receive a speeding ticket if you're not complying with the posted speeds. If there is a highway and a sign posting the speed limit, then that means there is a law enforcement officer to pull you over if you don't obey. <bio>Personal, business or holiday car hire.
If you hate your worktops full of clutter, you need a built in coffee maker. This appliance can be used at all times while still giving you the space to cook or entertain. A built in coffee maker allows you to enjoy your coffee while maximizing the space around you.

The built in coffee makers are plumbed directly into the electric and water supply so there is no need to have to keep re-filling it like a standard kettle or coffee machine. Built in coffee makers can be very expensive but they do have the added convenience of just having to press a button to get a steaming cup of hot coffee in seconds.

You can even buy a built in coffee maker that has a built in coffee grinder attached to it. This will enable your coffee to be brewed using fresh beans, however built in coffee makers like this can cost thousands of dollars.

Built In Coffee Makers That Do Not Require Plumbing

If you are unable to afford the huge price tags that some of the coffee machines are asking then why not opt for a built in coffee maker that does not require to be plumbed in. These are far cheaper and can be fitted to a wall or underneath a cabinet or even on a bracket. These built in coffee makers still keep your surfaces clutter free.

There are a few advantages to the more expensive models of a built in coffee maker as they usually are self-filling, adding just the right amount of water after each brewing. All the user need do is add fresh grounds and turn it on.

A built in coffee maker is very popular these days as coffee machines have seen a surge in sales and they are currently the 'must have' product for your kitchen. The coffee machines are available at almost every electrical store but it would be best if you shopped around and internet prices are generally much cheaper than those on the high street. <bio>http://mycoffeearoma.com is an informative site relating to coffee, coffee makers, coffee machines, coffee grinders, coffee recipes and all related material to coffee. </bio>

Speed reading programs are becoming more popular. Evelyn Wood discovered this technique, and introduced it to the public over 60 years ago. Since that time, many others have improved on her techniques, and several different speed reading programs are available today. With the massive amount of information we are required to process every day, developing the skill of speed reading has almost become a necessity.

Many speed reading programs help you to identify the bad reading habits that slow you down. The most common one is moving your lips when you read. This is something we all did when we first learned how to read, but now it holds us back from reading at optimum speeds. If this is one of your bad habits, try chewing gum when you read, or eating a piece of chewy candy. Placing your hand over your mouth when you read will also stop the problem.

There are many different types of speed reading programs, but they all work on the basic philosophy that your eyes can bring in information at a rapid rate and your brain will process this information as quickly as you can absorb it. This is why you also improve your reading comprehension as you learn to speed read.

There usually are speed reading programs offered at your local university, or college. Computer programs are also available to help you develop this skill. It is worth the time to investigate the different types of programs, as they differ in the level and skill set they teach. Some programs are simply reading improvement programs for poor readers, while others are true speed reading programs for people who already have good reading skills.

Most programs will begin by having you assess your own reading speed. From there they will show you how to read in groups, rather than single words. Some speed reading programs will show you how to skim pages to find the most relevant information. Others advocate reading the first and last paragraph of each chapter so you will be familiar with the information presented. All programs will help you eliminate the unnecessary words, so you will be able to quickly focus on the important ideas that are expressed in what you are reading.

If you want to start cutting down the time you spend reading emails, reviewing reports, and keeping up with your professional reading, then it is time to investigate the many programs available to help you master the skill of speed reading. <bio>To learn more about speed reading and how to spend less time reading and more time enjoying life, visit http://www.aboutspeedreading.com/ </bio>

Speed reading as a technique was developed by Mrs. Evelyn Wood in 1959. Impressed by her professor who read and graded a term paper of eighty pages in ten minutes she went on to observing reading methods of fast readers and developed the first ever speed reading technique.

Speed reading is a method that aims at improving the speed of reading and comprehension. The need for speed reading is obvious, as the volume of texts to be read on an average has been increasing since the invention of the printing machine.

And, increasing your reading speed can make a significant change in your life. So, what can you do to accelerate your speed of reading? To get started, you can pick up a non-fiction book. Why? Because the fiction one contains lots of dialogues which means contains many breaks in the text. Those breaks might slow down the speed of reading.

Also, don't pick a thick book. Three hundred pages would be the most. Get a book that you are interested in. It will help a lot.

Don't practice speed reading while you feel tired or not in the mood. To get the best out of it, you'd better try it while you are in a good mood. You can try a pleasant morning or mid-day. Get yourself sit in a comfortable couch in a cozy corner. Choose a quiet spot where you can fully concentrate. Then, what are the techniques?

Here are some techniques you might need to try to increase your speed of reading:

• Try to read down the page rather than left to right

• Read groups of words or complete thoughts rather than one word at a time

• Avoid involuntary rereading of material

You only need 15-minutes-a-day of practice. Doing it everyday will naturally increase your speed of reading.

Since now, the kids read more material than we did back then, it would be a great thing to include your children in the practice.

Make it a fun family activity. Each family member grabs a book and a timer is set. Once the reading begins, each person uses their speed reading skills to read as many of the pages of their book as they can until the timer sounds. The one who read the most will get prizes such as a trip to the library or a new book.

The result of speed reading skill will not only help them now but also in their future.

And remember, this skill is not limited to certain age. No one is ever too old to learn new things. Yet, a strong will is necessary.

Have a nice speedy reading. <bio>Riana Lance has a deep concern on health.
When buying snowboarding equipment the first item on most minds is the snowboard. So what are the basic 'need to knows' of the snowboard types?

Types of Snowboard:

There are three types of snowboard to consider: Freestyle, Freeride(all mountain) and Alpine (carving boards).

Freestyle Snowboards

These are wide, stable snowboards that are forgiving to ride. They are very responsive which makes them good equipment used for snowboarding for novices. The snowboard characteristics make them good for pulling tricks but less responsive in high speed carving due to flexibility and edge grip. They are often twin tipped and multi directional making them good for tricks and half pipes but ideal for beginners.

Freeride(all mountain)Snowboards

Generally the most popular snowboard on the slopes. Good for all mountain use, park or half pipe. Freeride snowboards tend to float reasonably well on powder, can carve and can be used to catch air, this make them popular boards. Freeride snowboards tend to be directional, meaning one end (the tip) is wider than the tail. They tend to be soft and manouveurable for beginners but offer enough stiffness for fast carves in harder snow, these boards offer a mix of characteristics between freestyle and alpine snowboards.

Alpine Snowboards

definitely not for the novice, these snowboards are stiff, narrow, long and built for speed. Built for speed carving and stability at speed with good edge holding powers they tend to be either symmetrical or asymmetrical but always built for one way travel.

Length and Width of Snowboard

Once you have chosen the type of snowboard that best suits your level of competence and ride style there are then several other factors to be considered in your choice of snowboard before buying.

Your height and foot size play an important part in your choice of snowboard.

The length of snowboard that will suit will be down to the riders height and ridestyle. Snowboards are usually 100cms to 180cms long.

A freestyle snowboard should stand tall enough to reach between the riders shoulders and chin when stood on end.

A freeride snowboard should reach between chin and eyebrows.

An alpine or carving snowboard should stand tall enough to reach a point between the forehead and a few inches above the head.

Foot size is important for determining the width of the snowboard. If your feet overhang the board there is a danger of catching an edge and tumbling. If your feet are too small then it is difficult to apply pressure to the edges to initiate turns. If you are an advanced rider using a carving board with big feet it may be necessary to alter your stance to avoid overhanging the edges.

Of course before you buy equipment used for snowboarding you should rent a few snowboards first to see what style, brand best suit you. <bio>John Rodgers writes for http://www.snowboarding-picture.com </bio>

Anyone that has been involved with speed dating will tell you that it is truly an experience. Some singles have a lot of fun with speed dating and participate regularly so that they can meet new people to share fun experiences with. Speed dating is an opportunity to meet people that will be fun to dance and party with on Saturday night, or even people that will provide long term romantic connections for you. There are a lot of different people looking for different things when it comes to speed dating, so you just might find that there is someone that is a good match for you and what you are looking for.

When you go to your first speed dating event you'll want to make sure to be yourself. Dress like you would for a date, unless otherwise specified, and be prepared with some topics that you can bring up if conversation gets a bit stale. Great topics to talk about are the weather, your career, where you grew up, and what you like to do for fun. Of course, you will not only want to talk about the things that you do and like to do in your free time, but you will also want to ask your dates about these things as well.

It's important when you go into the speed dating experience that you are relaxed and you don't expect to meet your soul mate there. The fact of the matter is that you may meet your soul mate, but it's better to not have that sort of expectation. Simply go with the expectation that you may or may not meet some people that are worthy of another date or two. When you approach the situation like that you will be happy when you meet someone that really seems to be someone special.

Speed dating is supposed to be fun, so concentrate on the element of fun. Even if the person that sits down across from you is not attractive, is not personable, and is not at all interesting, make the most of it. The easier you make your interactions with each person the quicker time will go by and the next person may be just what you have been looking for!

It's likely that your speed dating experience will fly by. You may be a bit uncomfortable in the beginning, but after a couple rounds you'll find yourself fitting into the routine quite well. Just try to relax, and remember to be yourself! <bio>Graham Billingham writes for http://www.DrDating.com a site filled with help and advice for dating, relationships, sex and love. http://Www.DrDating.com also offer a range of FREE eBooks and eCourses. </bio>

The trick to successful speed dating is not to take it too seriously. It is meant to be a bit of fun, an enjoyable way to spend an evening. Dont get me wrong, love can and will blossom at these events, however this is usually a result of the introduction and subsequent dates. That said, there was a case in the press recently of a couple that are happily married, they claim love at first sight following a brief meeting at a speed dating event.

I try to go to a speed dating event at least once a month. I try to attend events that are in my local area, however different to the last one I went to. The reason for this is because, you do tend to see the same faces at some of these events, and the whole idea to me is to meet with new people.

I never have any expectations of finding the one at a speed dating event. Instead, I prefer to keep an open mind and go with the flow. To me, the best part about speed dating is meeting people. They say that you can make up your mind about someone within 30 seconds of meeting them for the first time, I think this is true. So a 15 minute date with someone is fantastic, if you dont like them it is not a long to wait until the next one. On the other hand, if you do like them, you can ask to meet them for longer next time.

Nowadays, speed dating is a much more widely excepted form of dating and entertainment. There are speed dating events that cater to all types of people and niches, for example there are events that are aimed at specific age groups, sexuality or in extreme cases Ive seen, professions. Its true; I saw an advert for a speed dating event designed exclusively for farmers, quite why farmers should be picked out is any ones guess.

If youve never been speed dating before, you are seriously missing out on some fun. Its a great chance to meet people and mingle with like minded people. My only advice would be to think about the questions that you will ask. This is a real opportunity to shine because most participants ask the same general questions; what is your job, likes, dislikes, do you have pets etc? Try thinking outside the box, after 30 dates youll stand out more if you approached it differently. <bio>Charles Day (http://www.drdating.com/personals/Texas.html) writes for www.DrDating.com - a great resource for http://www.drdating.com/dating/advice/ and http://www.drdating.com/speed-dating </bio>

Before starting to learn a speed reading technique you should establish your current reading speed. Knowing your starting point will allow you to measure your improvement, this will help to keep you motivated. It is also helpful to set a target which you would like to meet, make sure that this is a sensible target, if you feel daunted by the large leap from your current reading speed to the desired reading speed you can always set smaller weekly targets.

The first speed reading technique we will discuss is the line technique. Most people were taught to read by growing letters into syllables, syllables into words and words into sentences. When we read as adults we are continuing the same learnt pattern, starting with the left most word of a line and working across the page or column until we reach the right hand side. This speed reading technique replaces this habit with the concept of reading a phrase, sentence or line at one glance. The idea is to look at the middle of the line and the grasp the whole line at one time, then move onto the next line. By using this speed reading technique you are effectively reading down the page rather than across the page as traditionally taught.

Some people believe that the line speed reading technique can improve your reading speed by as much as fifty percent. The second speed reading technique which we would like to introduce is called the card technique. Since we read one word at a time, there is a tendency for our eyes to be drawn back across text which we have already covered. Research shows us that this very high in primary school children who are just learning to read significantly less in students in tertiary education, implying that the more we read the less we do this. However, even university students have been recorded to regress read by as much as fifteen or twenty times per hundred words. This means that when we complete a passage, there may have been twenty percent of the text read twice. The card speed reading technique aims to reduce this wasted word absorption. This speed reading technique is simple; take a piece of card and place it above the first line you are going to read. As you read each line move the card down so that there is effectively not text to regress read to. As you are hopefully trying to apply the line speed reading technique as well you should draw a line vertically down the middle of the card, this will act as a guide to your eyes to help you apply the line speed reading technique simultaneously with the card speed reading technique.

As will all new skills it is important to practice as much as possible. When learning or practicing a new speed reading technique you must ensure that your are working in a calm and uninterrupted environment, this will help you to achieve the best results.

Good luck in you new speed reading technique. <bio>Jon Kelly is a published author who writes articles on a variety of diverse subjects.
Speed dating is the latest trend for singles looking for love. Many agree that dating can be a grueling task, but the minds behind speed dating hope to change that for people. Now, one can look at a night out on a blind date as a hopeful, fun and lighthearted experience.

For those not in the know, speed dating will involve multiple dates in one, a fact that makes most men and women prick up their ears and listen.

The object of speed dating is to offer a person many choices of singles to get to know in a blind date setting. However, the novelty is that each andquot;dateandquot; only lasts several minutes each.

What began in the 1990's as a fad is now a phenomena, as bars and restaurants all over the world are now hosting speed dating events. Usually, this event will be organized by one or several people and roughly 20 or so dates will be arranged for each participant.

The speed dating organizer will instruct the singles where to begin their speed dating experience.

The setting is usually a quiet, romantic room with multiple tables spread out across the floor. Quiet is essential due to the fact that so many people will be rapidly talking at once.

Each person will be placed with his or her first date for the evening and the speed dating clock will start. Like musical chairs, each couple will spend 10 minutes or less with each other before moving on to the next date.

The first question a person ponders when speed dating is explained to him/her is, andquot;How can ten minutes or less be long enough to get to know someone?andquot;

Well, the object isn't so much for everyone to become really acquainted with each other, but rather to sample a person to see if there is room for attraction or a full-length date.

Those that become involved with speed dating are probably from the school of thought that animal attraction or that andquot;sparkandquot; will be there instantly or not at all.

Sitting through a bad 10-minute date is much better than a lifeless evening together.

After each couple have played musical dates for the evening, the speed dating organizer will stop the clock and ask each person for a list of viable candidates to date again.

Personal information is not exchanged during a speed date but if someone decides that they would like to see a person or persons again, the speed dating organizer can handle the arrangements.

Of course, the opposite person may not reciprocate the desire for a full-length date, but such is the novelty of speed dating. It's easy to cast a fish back into the sea. <bio>Jason Roberts is a writer for http://GuaranteedOnlineDatingSystem.com which is an excellent place to find Dating links, For more information go to:www.guaranteedonlinedatingsystem.com </bio>

Almost everyone has seen someone speed read, they appear to skim the text and still have read and absorbed the content. It is normal for everyone to read at different speeds, even before some people have mastered the skills of speed reading. The people who have studied speed reading techniques will still read at different speeds; however they will undoubtedly beat those without speed reading experience. The point of speed reading is to understand and absorb the material using specifically learned strategies. Skimming a page and then rapidly turning onto the next page is not really of use if the brain is not absorbing the information at an equivalent speed. The best and most efficient way to learn to speed read is to enrol in speed reading classes, where speed reading skills will be explained clearly.

The advantage of speed reading courses is that students will be shown several different strategies for speed reading allowing them to choose the ones they find easiest to understand the material they are reading. Students should try to learn all the strategies presented during speed reading courses as, once these are mastered, they will see a dramatic improvement in their reading rate, after which they can hone and choose their preferred style. Students will see the benefits of speed reading as soon as the techniques are applied to their main field of study. The time taken for reading assignments and research for written assignments will be greatly reduced. (Allowing more time for sports and other lessons of life also learnt through college living). Equally, once in the world of business and industry, speed reading will reduce the length of time needed for reports, research papers and newspapers.

Speed Reading Strategies Encourage Comprehension

Speed reading does not take the lessons applied when learning to read at primary school and speed them up - this would not work and would not increase the speed of absorption of the information. Speed reading is about learning whole new strategies of reading, ensuring that material content is not missed or misunderstood. Primary school teaches reading in a linear form, building each word through the letters which form the syllables, the syllables forming the words and the words forming the sentences. Speed reading courses teach students to read looking for different patterns and not to read each word individually.

A traditional education builds habits in reading which a good speed reading course will push aside, replacing with new techniques. A comprehensive course will also advise students how to become more efficient readers; hopefully this will also encourage the desire for self improvement as well as the desire to read. Students often work with distractions (usually noise) around them; lecturers in speed reading will normally discourage this as research shows that by reducing the distractions the level of comprehension are increased. Lecturers in speed reading will usually take the time to teach students the importance of preparing the environment they work in before they read a single work - remember speed reading is all about increasing the speed of comprehension not just the speed of reading!

The satisfaction of reading faster and with better comprehension skills cannot be underestimated; the techniques of speed reading increase the enjoyment of reading. Speed reading is a skill to be encouraged in each and every generation of new readers. <bio>Jon Kelly is a published author who writes articles on a variety of diverse subjects.
Dating has been the oldest form of meeting singles. However, the ways did change with passage of time. In the beginning era of newspapers and magazines, people used to search other singles or they some time publish their own ads, showing willingness to meet someone. Once the telephone became popular as great mode of communication, phone dating took place.

Invention of Internet is, perhaps one of the greatest one in late twentieth century. Internet has connected people of any part of the world together. Now, online dating has over-taken all previous means of dating. Needless to say, you can find thousands, even millions of singles of same age, location, language who are equally eager to find mates.

Speed dating is nothing but the fastest way of meeting many available singles in person quickly in one time. In Speed Date event, singles get together at the reserved place such as restaurant, bar, hall and spend fixed time to spend for "speed dating" with someone before moving to meet the next.

Speed dating provided by online dating service is getting very popular among singles for many reasons. The great advantage of Speed Dating is it is fast, it is fun. By spending few minutes with someone you can know if you can get along with whom you are chatting. Speed dating provides lots of opportunity to meet various singles at one time, hence choice is tremendous. You can sit and chat with the person you like and find out if your chemistry matches or not. Meeting someone face to face makes lots of difference in your dating life. Speed dating reduces the chances of trials as all singles who come to attend Speed Date even have already decided to meet you.

Speed dating, in fact, is a great fun for daters. This is also useful for people having less or no time to meet singles otherwise. There is nothing better opportunity of meeting singles than attending such speed dating events. Even one meeting could bring the love in your life you are looking for so many years.
