If you're thinking of building your own home, your first priority after setting a budget is to find a suitable piece of land. There is always land available for purchase, but much of it is in remote areas, or is unlikely to be approved by the planning office, so there are many things to consider before you get out your chequebook.

Building land or building plot?

It is becoming increasingly difficult to find building land exactly where you want it. The growth in property prices over the last ten years has resulted in a rise in the number of people choosing to build their own homes and that, together with ongoing residential developments, means that land is becoming more scarce. It may be wiser to look for a building plot. This is often a smaller, subdivided area of land, such as a large garden or paddock, where planning permission has been granted for a certain number of properties. These plots may be sold individually and whilst they may be smaller than building land, they are usually more centrally located and cheaper.

Planning permission

It's vital that the land you buy either has planning permission already in place, or a very good chance of getting approval. There's no point spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on a plot if you're never going to be able to build there. Building plots often come with outline planning permission, particularly if there is a house or building already there. Speak to your agent and to the planning office to ensure that you are going to be able to build when you want to.

Location and access

You need to check that the building land or plot is in the right location for you and that you can have access both in terms of getting on and off the site, but also for connection to utilities such as water, electricity and gas. Not taking the time to check these issues could cause you great difficulty during your project and it's much easier to back out of a land purchase than it is to sell on a bad piece of land.

For the best advice and to find a range of suitable building plots or building land in your area, speak to a land agent. <bio>Nationwide specialises in land acquisition and sale across the UK.
Here's the question -- is it better to have a secondary plot or sub-plots? Here's another question, which as a reader, and then as a writer do you prefer?

I think you have to have both.

Subplot = A subordinate plot in fiction or drama. In our terms (A relating plot) Basically a hidden plot that some readers miss and writers don't know they have written, which helps bring the romance to the surface. Also known as twist and turns through out the romance.

A secondary plot is second story happening in the process of the romance. Such as a Mystery Romance, solving the murders.

As a reader I prefer and expect both. As a writer I love the secondary plot and fear the subplot. Not only do you have to worry about coming up with ways for the romance to move foreword and the secondary plot to come to an end but you have to add this hidden tale of the romance. Man what a pain in the ole writers wrist.

What makes a good secondary plot? And what makes a good sub-plot? Can you give an example? And tell us how you would use those tools to your benefit?

A good Secondary plot has to be strong enough to hold up to the tension of the romance plot, without taking away from it. Basically in my book La Roe's Finding the murderer and bringing him to justice is the secondary plot.

The subplot was Max teaching Emerald how to love and trust again. This had to happen for Emerald and the real hero Stephan to end up together.

By weaving a good subplot and secondary plot you end up with a gripping romance even if it's a comedy since all parts play off the main plot, ROMANCE. <bio>Dee Owens writes articles for http://www.articles3000.com.
Vastu is basically a science of structures and completely deals with the directions. Vastu Shastra is a big field and one can find many remedies for the well-beings and their surroundings. There are many things to be taken in to consideration while deciding to construct a building. Of the most important things, choosing the right site or plot is extremely crucial. Hence, it always advisable to take consultation from Vastu Shastra expert before purchasing a plot or buying a flat, house or any other buildings rather than taking his advice in the later part of construction. At this point of time damages would have already been made. Thus, these results should need to be avoided.

From whom should a plot not be bought? The answer to this question is provided by Vastu Shastra and as per it, a plot or land site should never be purchased from - people who became insolvent, troubled from leprosy, lunatics or people who are not in country etc. Likewise, sites that are given in donation to temples, assigned to watchman of colony or village, lands possessed by charitable trusts and sites with no title deed should not be bought. Also, lands holding boulders, worm hills, ant hills, skeleton and bones etc should not be gained.

In what direction should a plot or land site face? The direction of the plots plays a very important role in its construction. Different directions are beneficial for various types of persons and organizations. Let's take a look on them. Plots which face the East direction are considered good for philosophers, professors, scholars, teachers, priests etc whereas plots that face the West direction helps the people who truly support the society. Also, plots facing the North are good for people in administration, power and who function for the government and the plots facing South are considered best for the business class and people who work in business concerns.

An extremely important factor where light is to be thrown is at the surroundings or environment of the plots. If the environment is not good, the resulting problems come in many ways. Hence, it is crucial to look at the following aspects:

It is best to construct plots where lands are fertile with plants and greeneries.

A big canal or the river located on the North Side and its waters flowing from West to East, is a good sign. The same way if the river is on the East side with water flowing from South to North, is also considered good.

If there are mounds of Earth, big boulders, hills etc towards the South West, Southern and Western sides of the site or plot, it is good. Otherwise, it would affect the progress.

It should be ensured that no cemetery, tomb or graveyard lie close to the plot either front or back.

Also, plots near to temples have a chance to affect the inmates. Plots having temple towards its right causes material loss, on the left causes sorrow and grief and in the front it causes obstruction to develop.

Thus, keeping these things in mind, it is very important to consult an expert in Vastu Shastra before constructing the building as it renders happiness and prosperity ever through the life relieved from problems.

Visit www.freevastushastra.com for more free information on Vastu Shastra.<bio>Mr. Ravi works for www.acubedesign.com that maintains the website www.freevastushastra.com © 2008 aCUBE Technologies www.acubedesign.com</bio>

There are many places for private investors to put their money, but to date, land purchase has been out of the reach of most.

Land is expensive, and the closer to transport links, amenities, schools and shops it is, the more you have to pay. In addition, land often only comes up for sale in large parcels, which are both too large and too expensive for the average investor.

This doesn't mean that buying land in order to build your own home, or just to sell on for a profit at a later date is completely out of the question. Depending on what you're looking for, you can take a step on the land-holding ladder.

Building plots

If you've decided to build your own home or business premises, you first need to secure a plot of land. Whether your aim is to live or work in the property, or to sell it on once it is completed, you will need to find a suitable plot in the right location. You can do this by visiting estate agents or specialist land agents. Just like buying a property, you can talk to them about your requirements and they can match those with the land currently available. You will need to check whether planning permission exists for the site, and if not, the likelihood of approval to build being granted. Your plot is unlikely to increase in value if you can't build on it.

Land investment

If you're just looking for an alternative investment vehicle, then you should consider land investment. Many UK land agents are now offering the opportunity for smaller investors to buy a parcel of land within a larger area owned by a single company or developer. This land may be targeted for development at a later stage and is usually in a key location, where its value is forecast to increase. This type of land is usually either too large or too expensive for small investors, but they can afford a small parcel of the land which they can then sell on again at a later date, hopefully making some profit along the way.

If you are a private investor and you are considering adding land to your portfolio, speak to a land agent for more advice. <bio>Nationwide specialises in land acquisition and sale across the UK.
Inner city gardens can do great things for community pride and spirit, and fortunately can be set up for little or no cost to the community. Inner city garden take away from unused plots and decrepit landscapes that are visually depressing and dangerously collecting trash, including needles.

If you know of a plot that could be transformed into an inner city garden the first place to stop is the local courthouse. Depending on the plot of land, inner city gardens either have to be approved by the city or the actual land owner, if there is one. Checking with the local courthouse can guide you as to whether a plot of land is accessible for an inner city garden.

If you receive approval, which really isn't that hard to get since you aren't asking for any money, scraping together an inner city garden can be done at the most in a couple of weekends. Gathering volunteers from the neighborhood can make the job easier and the inner city garden more of a community project.

Clearing out a plot of land for an inner city garden is an adult job. Plots that have been left to waste away are filled with who knows what, and it is not uncommon to find old drug paraphernalia laying about where you are interested in putting your inner city garden. Once the plot is cleared, then children can help in assembling the inner city garden, although it is still prudent to warn them about anything you may have missed, such as the dangers of picking up a needle.

When putting together an inner city garden, it's not really all that difficult to gather ample donations. Hardware stores and large chain stores are typically willing to donate a few shovels, rakes, or plants when a community is willing to let the public know that the inner city garden was made possible by their donations. A simple hand painted sign is usually enough to cover this promise.

When planting an inner city garden it is best to plant hearty plants, small bushes, and flowering trees if at all possible. These tend to be harder to destroy through mild neglect than other plants. The inner city garden is occasionally the target for vandalism. Unfortunately there are those who don't appreciate the hard work and the potential for a rise in spirit that goes hand in hand with an inner city garden. Don't give up on your inner city garden. Prove to the kids of the neighborhood that this project is important and that an inner city garden benefits everyone. <bio>Lanny Hintz writes about http://www.flowergardennursery.com </bio>

Landscape plans are essential to persons planning to landscape their gardens on their own. One of the common mistakes is not properly planning out all the activities in redesigning a landscape. This can often lead to the feeling that what started as a simple project is now just too much work.

One of the first steps necessary to landscape plans is determining the size of the area available to work within. This information can be obtained in two ways. The first is from another source such as local county records or the developer and the second is the do it yourself approach. Both approaches require measurements of your plot to be carried out. The first method only requires the confirmation that the plan is accurate and can then be used as the base of your design. The second requires more work.

The "do it yourself" method is actually very simple. Using a sheet of graph paper you can plot your own base plan. The first thing to do is determine the size of your plot of land. Find a suitable scale and ensure that the area measured can be plotted on one single sheet of graph paper. It is then important to measure the area on the plot that is occupied by structures such as houses and pools. The measurement of the house can be determined by simple measurements to the boundaries of the plot. It is important to make some copies of your base plan as mistakes do happen.

In the design phase of landscape planning it is important to put some effort into researching what options are available. Some great designs can be sourced from neighbors, libraries and on the internet. There are many styles or themes that can be followed dependent on the design of your home and the area available.

The next stage is using your base landscape plans to start putting in a loose sketch of the activity areas that you envision. This will include the decisions made in the research portion of the landscape plans. It should also take into consideration the movements that have to be made to walk around your yard as this will provide information on the design of pathways. At this stage the general placement and size of plants required should be included. It is also necessary to include necessities at this stage such as drainage, slope or gradient changes or other alterations such as stairs. Other details such as ponds and decks can be included at this stage.

In your final landscape plans you will then include all the details in a "to scale" blueprint that can be plotted on your base plan. All the materials needed as well as the particulars of the types of plants can be decided at this stage. <bio>Landscapes and Landscaping http://landscapes-and-landscaping.com/ helping you to make the most of your garden space. </bio>

As we develop our characters, we often fall into the habit of placing them in a single type of role and plot. For example, for years one of my characters was stuck on a California horse ranch. Having him on the ranch felt comfortable, familiar.

He became boring.

Now my character is a modern day pirate turned Catholic priest with an attitude you would not expect from a priest. He is unpredictable, sometimes shocking, and enjoys every second of it. I have discovered things about his personality I never suspected.

Write a scene involving your character in a completely new situation.

Has your gentle mother character been in the kitchen for too long? Let her have a wild night out on the town with the girls! Dancing on tabletops and stuffing money into a male stripper's thong would be good for her.

If she is uncomfortable in a nightclub, have something happen that shakes her out of her uneasiness. Maybe she starts a brawl with a gang member? Hey, it could happen.

Have your mysterious dark hero, whether human or alien, attend a PTA meeting in place of his busy sister. Will he volunteer to bring the cupcakes for the next school function or will he upset the meeting in some manner?

Have the new situation force your character to do and say things he or she normally would not, even if stuck with a burning fork. You want your character to express his or her deepest self.

Doing so forces your character to overcome fears and inhibitions. Maybe he or she will develop new fears as a result?

This will open wide your choice of future plot lines.

Placing your characters into unexpected situations is a great way to add dimensional layers to your characters, as well as develop fresh plot ideas. <bio>Visit http://www.blogcharm.com/knowledge/ to read Jenny's other fun and valuable writing exercises. </bio>

You can easily get what you want if you take the time to calculate costs and put the right amount of time into proper planning and designing. A rushed project will end up costing you more in the end and you may not end up with what you had hoped for. Below we have gone over some of the first steps to adding living space to your home:

Determine Property Lines: Locating your property lines and developing a plot plan are the first steps that need to be taken. The plot plan should include your home, landscaping and the location of your utilities. You should also become award of any local building codes at this time. Certain local codes have restrictions with regard to how close you can build to surrounding homes.

Develop a Design: It is important to develop a design that complements your current floor plan. Carefully review the structure and the floor plan of your home. You may want to hire a residential designer or architect to develop a plan for you which will provide the most eye-catching, useful and economical addition to your home. A professional has the experience and skill to develop such designs.

Detail Your Plans: It is important to be detail oriented when it comes to a home addition project. Make sure to have detailed descriptions of the materials and the scope of the work to be done. The more detailed you are, the more likely you will be to end up with what you want.

When it comes to the cost of a home addition the price will vary, even among the same floor plans. This often confuses homeowners because it is assumed that the same floor plan will cost roughly the same amount. However, the truth is that the price will vary depending on the specific details of the project. If you decide to use high-end products you should expect your project to cost more than someone who opts to have inexpensive products used. It is important to put these details in writing because it eliminates any confusion about the products to be used. Doing so allows builders to give accurate bids and buyers can then compare them easily.

You should also specify in your writing the person who will be responsible for each portion of the job. These details should include who is paying for the building permit, where the workers are allowed to use the bathroom, where the lumber will be delivered, etc. Specifically writing down all of the agreements regarding the details to your project, before the work begins, will eliminate most of the problems that result in an exasperating and stress-inducing job. <bio>To learn more about building house additions, and for a free price quote from http://www.homeadditionskey.com/home-addition-price-quote.html visit http://www.HomeAdditionsKey.com </bio>

What is the soul of a story? Some people say the plot, some others say the characters. I say, it's both.

But now, I'd like to talk about characters.

How do you create a character?

Here are some ways used by writers out there in creating the characters in their story:

=95 Go with the flow

Some writers begin with the first few lines. As long as they can get something interesting for the first line, the rest will follow. The character's personality grows at the same time the writer builds the plot. It is not actually intentionally created. Some writers like this method because, for them, the process of writing is full of magic. It seems like it's their hands and mind working together in their subconscious mind. This kind of method is normally used by professional or experienced writers

=95 Concept the details

Some other writers prefer to deeply know the characters. They must know the whole details about this `person.' They make a list of all the details about the characters. The list contains name (full name and how you call them), age (time and date of birth), height, weight, skin, hair and eye color, hair style, parents', spouse, children and siblings' name, address, phone number, educational background, job, good and bad habits, favorite food, book, movie and music. For the previous type of writer mentioned above, this method might seem boring. It seems like all the excitement is gone with the list. But for those preferring this method, it is a good way to build the story, along with the plot.

=95 Use someone they know

Some other writers prefer to just use a figure they know. They use all basic information about the model, their life, their job, their personality, etc. This is the less creative way in constructing a character.

Try one of those three tips that you feel most comfortable with. Or, try all three then decide which suits you most. <bio>David W Richards is a happy father of two kids who enjoys writing so much.
Advantages: Complex characters, plot told from different viewpoints, realistic morality Disadvantages: Depressing

The first book of the Song of Ice and Fire series is my first foray into George R.R. Martin's world. Before I was introduced to his work, I was mainly a Robert Jordan fan. Upon reading A Game of Thrones, I realized that I was missing a huge part of the high fantasy genre.

>From beginning to end, I was not sure whether or not I really liked the book. The plot was interesting enough. If it's worth anything, I spent a couple of sleep-deprived nights reading A Game of Thrones! Now that I think back, I would say that the complexity of the characters and the plot as a whole is what made me hold back. Other fantasy novels usually define the line between good and evil very clearly. We have the good characters on one side and the evil powers on the other. George R.R. Martin manages to reflect reality by emphasizing the moral gray areas. Characters are not boxed into single moral categories. There is no clear protagonist. A "good" character is not totally likeable. An "evil" character seems to be a nice person on the inside. Good and bad is so maddeningly intertwined you can't help but see a reflection of the real world.

This book is not for the faint of heart. If you are looking for light reading, free of violence and sex, you might not want to read A Game of Thrones. There were times when I thought Martin was overdoing it a bit. I decided I would just chalk it up to artistic freedom.

Another frustrating aspect of the book is that as the story progresses, it seems that the "good" guys are getting killed off one by one. If that isn't enough to make you depressed I don't know what is. Of course this is only the first book in a yet uncompleted series -the story is yet to unfold.

The storyline is gripping. It leaves you craving for more. One good thing about discovering this series at this late date is that you wouldn't have to wait for the next few books to be written. A Feast for Crows, the fourth and latest book of the series, has been out since last year. Once you start with A Game of Thrones, you might want to pace yourself so as not to have to wait too long for the fifth book. <bio>For more information please visit http://www.444.net.. </bio>

When writing an article or story, how exactly do you decide what to write? Do your characters develop as you go when writing fiction? Does your plot unfold by chance? Do you have a clear idea of where your story or article is going before you actually begin to write?

I have to admit there are times when I just start writing and worry about the details later. Interestingly, it is a unique exercise in taking something without purpose and finding one for it. However, there is a method called 'clustering' that can help you define key elements to a story before it is subjected to creative phrase turning.

A 'cluster' simply allows you to group main ideas, settings, characters, plot, etc. in one place so you have a simple map of where the story will go. It's essentially the bare bones of the story with the rest of the body to come a little later.

It may seem silly to write before you write, but a 'cluster' provides a map for your story. It can't show you the trees or the potholes along the way, but it helps you figure out how to get from point 'a' to point 'b'. The remainder of the trip is for you to discover and enjoy.

Many frustrated writers will move along in a story they are really proud of only to hit a brick wall because they can't figure out what the character is supposed to do next and where the plot is heading. A 'cluster' can provide a disciplined approach to help you know ahead of time where the story is headed so you miss the road blacks and simply find yourself taking a few detours along the way to your final destination.

Writing without a 'cluster' often takes significantly more time simply because you come to the end of your story and discover some of the rest of the story needs to be changed to adapt to your recently discovered ending. That's not to say that there hasn't been wonderful stories written this way; simply that this freeform method is often difficult to duplicate causing frustration because the story just doesn't seem to be cooperating.

By using a 'cluster' you can connect the dots of your story so the reader actually sees the picture you saw before you started your masterpiece. <bio>Scott Lindsay is a web developer and entrepreneur.
Building a home -- house, cottage or chalet? It's not only the home with its fixtures that are major considerations in terms of Feng Shui but also your choice of lot or what might be considered plot or "the plot".

Some home buyers or builders will place great emphasis and cost on the physical building itself yet play little attention to the "land" or lot itself. Yet years later when it comes time to sell that beautiful home, that investment, the lot itself may be the limiting factor in the basic selling price of their home. It may be the physical location - a 2 million dollar home facing a group of older rental duplexes for example. If you think of it as a potential home buyer -- who wants to spend that kind of money, spend big dollars on city and municipal taxes every year and yet come out each morning and view a less than elaborate residential neighborhood view when paying such good money for a property. Ultimately every home has a buyer at a given price. With a less than optimal choice on a lot a house may sell for a lot less than had the home builder spent a higher percentage of the total building budget on the lot.

What can be said about lot choice in terms of Feng Shui?

In Feng Shui, a square shape, is it a lot, a room, or a table. Denotes stability and balance. Qi is able to flow freely, unobstructed. Ideally, your house should be situated in the center of a lot, allowing qi to circulate around the structure and through its windows and doors. Your occupants will be nourished and satisfied. Next in opportunity in lot purchases and availability are rectangular lots. If your dwelling is situated a front of the lot, Qi flows in and accumulates in the back area of the land.

Your wealth and health will be secure and safeguarded. Think of it all as being similar as a wealth person with lots of cash in the bank to provide a strong foundation against winds of change or instability. On the flip side of the coin a deep front yard, although appearing massive and inflating the apparent size, and or perceived value of the home, is not a wise idea. It's the opposite of the model of the wealthy individual, above, with cash in the bank resisting negative forces. With a large oversize front lot, along with a very small rear pace you will have difficulty retaining money, stability and overall power. Not a wise idea for the desirability and marketability of your home -- of course along with a sales price.

Currently you may come across odd sized lots -- trapezoids. These are not wise choices -- even if they are exotic and may be bundled with very attractive and competitive pricing. It's almost as if developers are repackaging the left overs of what is still around in a new and wonderfully inspiring format. None of these lot types are good choices. Simple as that. Sheng qi , inspiring good health, must squeeze into that trapezoid shaped lot. Like a bottleneck, the forces must maneuver through the tight opening in order to accumulate in back. Trapezoid lots are not a wise choice for this reason. On the other side you may come across inverted trapezoid lots. Qi will have no trouble entering, but a difficult time staying. Again not a wise overall choice in lot shape. Lastly is the triangular lot, which should be avoided at all costs. It is very difficult to position anything inside or outside the home that does not create sha qi. On top of that angular, triangular lots are most disorientating.

In the end pay particular care when choosing the lot type of your new abode. The basic premise when purchasing real estate is to consider future resale value and sales desirability as a major component in any real estate decisions. This includes the choice of the lot or plot as well. Spending more up front in the beginning may be a very wise choice in your real estate mix. Feng Shui.<bio>Real Estate Taxes Too High - Appeal Property Taxes ? http://www.hotel-ring.com Manitoba Vacation Rentals</bio>

There are as many different writing styles as there are writers. Some meticulously develop their characters, while the plot sneaks stealthily up on you. Other writers prefer to put the plot first and let the characters develop along with the storyline.

There is no doubt in my mind that Paul Mark Tag belongs to the second group. He wastes not one word on character development, preferring to launch into the plot at a speed approaching Mach 1. Now don't get me wrong, this is not a bad thing, it is just a writing style.

Prophecy has at its very heart a very interesting precept. The ability to foresee the future, some call it, a gift, some call it a curse.

Set in the very near future (2009) Prophecy goes to work. An old safe is found on a construction site, it also happens to be the site of the great Johnstown flood of 1889. The town was destroyed, and its 2,200 inhabitants met a watery grave when a sportsman's dam gave way. The only thing inside of this rusty old safe is a sealed bottle containing a letter. The letter was purportedly written by one of the Johnstown victims, Ms. Augusta Schmidt. The disturbing aspect is that the letter was written prior to the flood, the day before to be exact, and it details her choice to stay and die with her family, rather than run for safety.

Since the late 1940's the super powers, and some of the not quite super powers have expanded huge sums of money chasing the goal of ESP. He who owns the view of the future, owns the future, is the argument used.

Paul Mark Tag introduces us to a new explanation for the phenomenon, ESP is in the human genome. It is a rare naturally occurring mutation in the DNA. So rare, it may occur only once in every 200 million people. Prophecy is based on a plot line where both American and Russian scientists have discovered the gene mutation, and the ensuing battle between the interested parties to conquer the gene.

Our heroes are Navy scientists Dr. Victor Mark Silverstein and his assistant Linda Kipling, neither of which are DNA experts, but rather meteorologists. They become the central focal point of the various groups when it seems like they hold the key to this strange 'prophecy gene.' Rogue CIA operatives, a senator with Middle Eastern connections, and the very shady organization known as The Blade Of Sinai all become obsessed with owning the Prophecy Gene.

While the plot line sometimes lacks credibility, and the characters are ever so slightly over the top, don't be put off. This book was designed to be a wild ride on the wings of escapism, and it certainly delivers. This is just the sort of novel to lose yourself in these dreary winter days.

You can get your copy from Amazon. Paul Mark Tag also has a web site with information about Prophecy and his first novel Category 5. Until he retired in 2001 to write fiction full-time, his work revolved around meteorology and his career with the Naval Research Laboratory. <bio>Simon Barrett is an adult educator in Calgary, Alberta.
If the idea of building your own home sounds exciting and promising, you're not alone. When thinking about moving to a new city or even just to a new house, many people consider the option of building rather than buying. Building a house is a great option for many people, but not for all people. Is building a house right for you and your family?

Building a house on a piece of property where there once was nothing more than a few weeds and trees sounds novel and challenging for people. Building a house is those things and so much more. Many people jump into the building process head first without taking time to consider their choice fully. There are many questions to be asked and answered before someone can be ready to begin building a house.

First, ask yourself why building a house rather than buying one appeals to you. Do you desire the freedom to plan a home exactly how you want it? Or perhaps you love the challenge that building a house presents? It is important that you are sure of your motives before you jump into any building project, large or small. Be sure that your reasons for wanting to build are valid and strong enough to withstand the long and sometimes tedious process that building actually is. Do not let yourself be fooled into thinking that the process will be easy or painless. Talk with friends who have gone through the building process and get their honest advice. See if building a house rather than buying one is really the right path for you and your family.

Even if your motives for building are pure and correct, you should still enter the process of building a house with care and caution. Even though building a house may sound more exciting and creative than purchasing one, consider honestly how much more work and time are needed in the building process. While decisions about the details of the building sound exciting now, do you honestly have the time and energy to devote to building? The process easily takes months, so be sure that you have months worth of energy and patience to put into your project.

There are endless things to consider once you have settled on building a house. You must decide what kind of property you hope to build on. You must think about what size and style of house you plan to build. Consider the time building a house will take and be sure that you have housing to last you until your new house is finished.

While the building process can surely be overwhelming and long, if you've determined that the building process is right and feasible for you, then jump into it with everything you have and watch the house of your dreams being built up around you. <bio>After building four homes for his own family, Martin Stoleman has become an advisor to many friends and family who are thinking of building their own home. The show was one of the all-time greats on Broadway, and it enjoyed a run of nearly 15 years beginning in 1975. The show was so successful that it spawned a related film, and it's getting ready to make a comeback of epic proportions.

About the Story

A Chorus Line is about just what it is - a Broadway production. The show contains 19 characters, including the director, a choreography assistant and 17 prospective members of a show. The dancers nervously show up for an audition, and the director and choreography assistant are charged with choosing four boys and four girls for the chorus line.

As the dancers prepare for their final audition, the director throws them for a loop with an unusual request: He wants to know more about them. Specifically, he wants to know about their lives, their backgrounds, their fears and their hopes and dreams. The dancers as a group are extremely reluctant to talk, but the plot begins to unfold after the first dancer opens up to the director.

A Chorus Line tickets start to display their value at this point in the plot, as all of the dancers figure out a way to tell their stories through incorporated dance numbers and songs. Many of the female dancers tell and sing their stories of how they love ballet for its beauty, to replace absent fathers, and many other uplifting and somewhat tragic reasons.

The male dancers also tell their tales, and the plot becomes quite intricate as the audience gets to know the characters progressively. We won't tell you how it ends, as this is a show that you need to see for yourself to completely appreciate.

Show Specifics

The music for the show was written by the legendary Marvin Hamlisch, and the lyrics were put together by Edward Kleban. The show's original run opened at the Shubert Theatre on July 25, 1975, and ran until April 28, 1990, which came to a total of 6,137 performances. This run represents the fourth-longest in the history of Broadway, ranking only behind Phantom of the Opera, Cats and Les Misérables, three legendary shows in their own right.

A Chorus Line has also won a total of 10 Tony Awards, and grossed millions of dollars in gate receipts and other merchandise. The show is going to open for a highly-anticipated revival in October of 2006, and demand for A Chorus Line tickets will be as high as any show in the theaters. <bio>By Jay Nault, sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/ StubHub sells A Chorus Line Tickets: http://www.stubhub.com/a-chorus-line-tickets/ and more to just about any event.
If you purchase Wicked tickets, you're probably in for a bit of déjà vu. You'll swear you know the story, but it'll all seem new to you for some reason. The characters will be familiar, but the plot will be original. Regardless, millions of thespians around the world have lined up to see this play, and the story is an adaptation from a timeless film classic.

About the Plot

Wicked is an expansion of the story made famous in the film "The Wizard of Oz" from 1939. It explores the possibility that the infamous Wicked Witch of the West was a misunderstood character, and the play itself is set in a time before Dorothy arrives from Kansas to help conquer the evil character that appears in the film.

It seems that, according to the writers of the musical, the Wicked Witch of the West has actually been victimized by events out of her control. She was named Elphaba at birth, and she was born illegitimately to her mother and a traveling salesman. The salesman sells a green drinking potion that her mother drinks, and this results in Elphaba having the green skin everyone knows from the movie.

Elphaba's father rejects her because of her skin color, and he insists that her mother chew milk flowers while pregnant with their next child. As a result, Elphaba's younger sister, Nessarose, is born with crippled legs and needs attention. Naturally, her father sees this as Elphaba's fault.

The two grow up together and are sent to the university, but their father makes it clear that the only reason Elphaba is going is to help her sister. Once there, Elphaba is paired with Galinda, the "good" witch from the film, and although the two do not get along at first, they eventually form a bit of a friendship. As they study together, it is revealed that Elphaba possesses incredible powers, and she is seen as a prodigy.

This makes Galinda jealous, and the two friends distance themselves from each other. At this point, Wicked tickets begin to have a familiar feel, as the "plot" that uncovers the true nature of the Wizard of Oz is revealed.

It seems that the Wizard of Oz wants to remove the power of communication from the kingdom's animals, and he tests Elphaba a bit to measure her ability and her loyalty. Galinda catches wind of Elphaba's favor with the wizard, and jealousy sets in. She charms her way into the powerful inner circle of Oz, and rumors of Elphaba's "wickedness" begin to swirl. Soon, the entire kingdom is told of her penchant for evil, and Elphaba is banished to solitude.

Of course, the ending contains many surprises, but we don't want to spoil it for you. You really need to see this play for yourself, as it "ties in" all the stories that surround the classic movie.

Success

Wicked was and is one of the most successful plays of all time. It began to run in October of 2003, and grossed more than $50 million in its first year on stage. The show has also won three Tony Awards, six Drama Desk Awards, an Eddy Award and a Grammy Award, among others.

If you want to see a play with drama, humor, sorrow, tragedy and intricate and exciting plot twists, Wicked tickets are the way to go. <bio>By Jay Nault, sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/ StubHub sells Wicked Tickets: http://www.stubhub.com/wicked-tickets/ concert tickets, theater tickets and more to just about any event. The original cast of the movie was legendary in nature, and included such Hollywood luminaries as Henry Fonda, Ed Begley and Jack Klugman, among others. In all, there have been countless adaptations of this story and it has been the source of study in theater schools and educational institutions of all types around the world for decades.

The Plot

At first glance, 12 Angry Men tickets may seem like entrance into a low-budget work, as there is only one setting during the entire play, and that's a jury deliberation room where a 12-peson panel has been given a murder case in order to reach a verdict after closing arguments at trial. As the story begins, there are 11 jurors who are ready to convict the defendant and one who does not.

The plot develops through a series of emotional and intense exchanges between the jurors and through several telling monologues that not only give the audience a picture of the direction of the jury, but also of the characters themselves in how they view things in general. The jury ultimately moves in one unified direction as a result of meticulous deliberations and examination of the evidence.

We'd tell you how the plot concludes, but just in case you're not one of the millions who have already seen this timeless story, we're not going to ruin it for you, and we encourage you to secure 12 Angry Men tickets to see for yourself how this story unfolds. <bio>Written by Jay Nault, sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/ .
Every so often a movie will come along that is destined for greatness -- be it through powerful imagery, an engaging plot or a stellar cast. Occasionally, though, just occasionally, comes a movie whose success is based not on cast or plot (whose plot, in fact, is purely incidental to its popularity) but on simple viral marketing. Snakes on a Plane is such a movie.

For those of you who have yet to come across this particular title, Snakes on a Plane is an R-rated action/horror vehicle starring Samuel L Jackson. The plot, as we have come to expect from action movies, is basic and untaxing. Jackson's FBI agent is escorting a witness on a flight from Hawaii to California to testify in a high-profile court case. Meanwhile, an assassin smuggles a crate filled with over 500 snakes onto the flight. Terror ensues. Simple.

Now, in the greatest traditions of Hollywood a movie such as Snakes on a Plane should probably have vanished with little comment somewhere in the middle of the usual pile of mindless late summer action flicks. Perhaps it would have done well in the rental market, but it had little hope of becoming a blockbuster in theaters.

However, this particular movie has one special quality -- a quality that saw it elevated from obscurity and gave it a vast fan following as much as a year before its release. This movie, you see, had a title that simply demanded comment - a working title so ridiculous that it begged parody and satire.

And that's just what it was - a working title. Studios usually give their productions a basic descriptive title before the marketers come up with something better. ET: The Extraterrestrial, for example, was titled variously A Boy's Life, ET and Me and Night Skies before assuming the name we know and love. The working title of Snakes on a Plane was, in fact, changed to the more generic Pacific Air Flight 121 before Jackson and droves of Internet fans insisted the original title be restored.

And therein lies the magic. With nothing more than a working title and a vague plot summary this movie became an Internet phenomenon -- generating a slew of fan blogs, videos, songs, parodies and praise before even a single frame of the movie has been seen. In the viral marketing style of The Blair Witch Project, the success of this low budget horror project is based more on myth than fact: the Internet (and, more specifically, the blogosphere) built hype, anticipation and excitement with greater success than any expensive marketing could possibly achieve.

Understandably, New Line Cinema took this surprising good fortune and ran with it, acceding to the demands of an eager public. They even went so far as to reshoot several scenes to raise the movie rating from a PG-13 to an R - including the addition of a line of dialog fans demanded following the release of a fake audio trailer: andquot;I want these motherf***ing snakes off the motherf***ing plane!andquot; They essentially remade the movie to cater to the enormous, anonymous audience who made it famous.

With all the hype surrounding Snakes on a Plane New Line is onto a clear winner. Since the movie has become, sight unseen, a massive cult hit it doesn't matter in the slightest whether the movie is actually any good. In fact, it would probably take more at the box office if it were resoundingly, jaw-droppingly awful. The viral aspects of the Internet spreading news of its dreadfulness would only serve to drive more fans to the ticket booths, all ready and more than willing to take part in this full-length in-joke.

And that's the point, you see. That's the reason Snakes on a Plane has become so well loved -- we don't expect it to be serious. We don't expect it to be enlightening, intelligent or valuable. We just expect to see snakes. On a plane.

At the end of the day, what else is there to say? <bio>As an industry analyst and keen fan of movie marketing, James Shenton can often be found pondering the use of clever marketing over genuine acting talent in turning average films into box office gold.
